Hey, My Mom's Basement listeners.

Hello and welcome to My Mom's Basement, presented by Barstool Sports,
and a very special comic book club edition of My Mom's Basement,
featuring the professor, Jose Young's, we got them back.
And as we're putting this out, as you're listening to this, I'm getting married.
So we're backlogging this one a little bit.
And I said, what better thing to backlog it with than a comic book?
club. Everyone in the basement loves Jose. And today we're talking, time runs out. Jonathan Hickman's
lead in to his secret war story, which many people believe will be kind of the basis for Avengers
Doomsday. And after reading it, I could see why people believe that. There's a lot of threads in there
where you're like, okay, clearly they're going to take that. Maybe they'll leave that on the floor.
We're going to talk about it all today, though. And Clem, what is your level of knowledge about this story
right now. So you told me, hey, we're going to do this book club. I said, that sounds good. Then you're like,
oh, man, this is going to be way too much to do in like the time we have. So I said, I know what I'm
going to do. And I said, I'm going to go to Comics Explained on YouTube and have him explain the book instead of
actually reading myself. And I was like, the only thing I don't love about this is I don't know if I
want to spoil this movie or the story before the movie. Because like, even though I knew Thanos
snaps with the Infinity Stones.
I didn't know much about that story.
But I also, it was kind of nice to know the snap could be out there.
The good thing is, I have no clue what the fuck just happened.
And I watched 30 minutes.
And even the guy, comics explained shout out.
Great guy, it seems.
He's a good job.
He's like, sorry, guys.
I try to do the best I could.
This is a pretty heady story.
Jose, I'm going to need the professor to drop some knowledge on me because I still don't
know what the fuck really happened there.
I'll do my best.
I remember when this came out, it was.
right after original sin,
which was like kind of a big intergalactic
story arc where the
the watcher gets murdered,
and it's kind of like a murder mystery
who shot the watcher.
If you don't want to know,
probably skip ahead a little bit,
but this leads in directly
into time runs out.
So it turns out it's Nick Fury
is the one that killed the watcher.
And then through this,
uh,
I'm trying not to give away a lot of spoilers for secret war.
Oh, yeah.
Because secret war comes out after.
This is interesting because a lot of people just consider this like part of the secret war story.
I don't.
I do not.
I consider it its own thing.
I feel like it's a bridge where there's like I feel like you can't, you can read secret war without it.
You'd be very confused.
But I don't.
I mean, I was a little confused hopping into this to be honest.
I was confused, but also hooked right away.
Like I was like, man, I don't know if.
going to have time to read this by the time we record the episode.
That was last weekend.
It's heavy.
It's like 500 pages or something like that.
One sitting, I put it down.
It was two and a half hours and I was just gripped the entire time.
I'm kind of jealous because I had to wait month to month.
And I was going to say that's the other thing about this book.
They show it at the end.
This is across New Avengers and Avengers.
Yeah.
Hickman was writing both.
That's kind of crazy that he's writing two ongoing series at the same time.
And you kind of need a lot of backstory, which I'll kind of give briefly like in
in original sin is where
Thor becomes
unworthy of Njolnar, which is where
Jane becomes Thor. You have the
access storyline where I think it's
Scarlet Witch and might have been doomed.
I can't remember. They invert people's
ideology. So like supervillains
become good and superheroes become
evil. And eventually they all
flip back except for Iron Man.
And that's why this is where we get
superior. This is where we get superior.
I had. Yes. I was so
confused about Iron Man's portrayal.
this because he looks cool he's got that like the white outfit so he's showing in the mask the white
outfit but he's treated like a villain in this and he's treated like he's crazy i was so confused
about that so that this is superior iron man which is why i think you i kind of view it as like something
separate from uh the secret warp so again like you don't the access storyline you if you read that
you would understand uh the superior um the superior iron man which everyone really loves and i really
love and I really when rumor was Tom
Cruz was going to play Superior Iron Man
I was fully on board with that.
This is where you get the like when
Thor becomes unworthy
it's because Nick Fury
whisper something into Thor's ear
during original sin
and then eventually we learn he's saying
he said Gore was right
if anyone watched the last Thor movie
Gore the God butcher he said
he basically had this this
he was telling Thor like our
like
are gods worthy of humans worship?
Like they worship you, but are you even doing anything for them?
And that
millisecond of doubt in like the gods,
like the pantheon of Asgard made him unworthy.
And this is why Jane gets the hammer.
And then it kind of leads right into it.
And then Steve Rogers fought the iron nail,
and he sucked the super-soucels.
old you serum out of him, which is why in this storyline, Steve Rogers is very old.
Like he aged and happy.
He's cool.
Old Steve in the story is awesome.
And it feels almost like this came out, I believe, 2014, 2014.
At least 10 years ago, yeah.
Yeah.
It almost feels like the Russo brothers have pulled from this story before.
Because there's aspects of it that feel like civil war.
There's aspects of it that feel like infinity war to me.
Where in both ways, even at the end of this, where you have like this,
big blowout fight between Captain America and Iron Man.
It almost feels like an homage to like Dark Knight returns the way he has the metal suit on.
Totally.
A thousand percent.
And I think what that particular scene kind of ends this era of Marvel because this era
and then moved on to like the secret wars and absorbing universes and everything.
Because that to me was the culmination of the biggest conflict in my.
Marvel of that decade dating back
to Civil War, Iron Man and
Captain America, right? Like it started
it really started with Avengers
disassembled in the early 2000s
and then it went into Civil War and
Scrawl invade and secret invasion and dark
Avengers and the Asgard
conflict in Oklahoma City
and then
all of everything I said and then
Iron Man versus Captain America
ended there and that
was such a pivotal high moment
in Marvel. I think at this point
in time. Like right now everything I was saying
where DC is like DC can't
miss in the Marvel in the comic books
this was Marvel's time right here.
Marvel was booking with this world.
And I was going to kind of ask
so from someone who was obviously
big into the books then
and just knowing where this
book stands now a decade later
if I was to tell you, hey
Doomsday is going to be based on this book.
You think this book is worthy
of an Avengers movie?
a thousand percent especially if doomsday is if they do the time runs out into secret wars
and secret wars could be a combination of the two the secret wars that we did the first book club
about and the secret wars with this it could even be the secret war where they had all the
like the street level superheroes that had to invade lap bear they could even throw some of that
into that because that's how you would have daredevil and wolverine and punisher and spider man and
all that stuff.
It's secret war
by Jonathan Hickman is such a
monumental moment.
And time runs out leads directly
into that that you can't have one without
the other. Because time runs out
ends on such a massive cliffhanger.
Right. And feeds directly.
It's such a pivotal.
So I'm going to like go real
neat. Not, this isn't even niche.
Crisis on Infinite Earth in the DC
in the DC world is where Barry
Allen dies, where Supergirl died. It's kind of
of where the gold and silver era of the DC world collapsed, right?
And then that's when they had their multiversal thing and all the worlds combined.
And then I think the next big one, and for Marvel, the big turning point was the death of Gwen Stacy.
That very much pivoted the tone of Marvel comics.
This time runs out.
I think the first Lynch pin, I said, was Avengers disassembled.
If that didn't come out, the Avengers movies would not exist.
That was the first domino.
and this was the last domino into this era of comic books.
That's awesome.
I wanted to read in this edition,
the Marvel Premiere Collection,
they just put it out.
You really have to.
The Russo Brothers actually did the forward.
And this little moment where they talk about Doom,
I think shows such a cool understanding.
They said,
and then there is Doom.
Doom is not just an adversary.
He is ambition and fear woven together.
In Secret Wars,
he tries to hold reality in place through sheer will.
He believes he can save everything if he controls enough of it.
Hickman reveals the strain behind that effort and the human fragility behind the armor.
Even someone who can reshape existence cannot escape the emotions that define him.
And then they kind of talk about the time runs out story and what it does to the Marvel universe.
They say, in time runs out, one of the most striking elements is how the world begins to slip.
It is not a dramatic explosion.
It is fear, it is compromise.
It is the slow erosion of trust among people who care deeply and still cannot prevent the fall.
Stories like that linger.
I feel like that alone can get me bumped up and be like the Russo brothers.
Get it.
They fucking get it.
And they're going to crush this, I think.
And again, there are aspects of it that I think are going to be pretty majorly changed.
In this story, it's kind of the Avengers, the New Avengers, and the Illuminati.
The Illuminati are a massive, massive.
part of this. I don't think we're getting the Illuminati in Doomsday. I think we're getting the X-Men
in Doomsday. But there's little things. Like in the beginning, they do a little like previously
on the Avengers. They give you the lay of the land, the members of the team. I was a stunt to
find out that Sunspot has made his way onto the Avengers. Yeah, he's a brilliant. Good for him.
You know what? He's like the billionaire. He's the billionaire guy. Even just this panel where it shows
previously in New Avengers and you have the diagram, kind of the hologram of the world's
colliding. And that's where the story begins. The multiverse is colliding in on itself. In the Avengers
Endgame Encore, there's a post-credit scene that shows almost that exact diagram, that exact
hologram to the point where I'm like, oh, they're doing this. And I like the idea that if two worlds collide,
they're both going to be destroyed and we're losing both of them. So there are some people that have
developed a universe planet killing bomb where if we go to one of these planets, we could
save 50%. And that secret is kind of like the inception of the story. And that's where everything
branches off from. Who knew who was doing nothing about it? I think you swap the Illuminati for the X-Men.
And you kind of get the starting off point of Doomsday there where what if, yeah, the Avengers
are going to the X-Men James Marsden's X-Men world. And they decide we're bringing a fucking
universe killing bomb here because we need to save our universe. Like that might be where this all starts.
And I could kind of see that being the entire story of Doom's Day while you have Dr. Doom,
obviously lurking in the background, also trying to figure out what's going on.
And I assume already knows what's going on.
He knows what's going on.
He's about to take control of it.
Now, the thing with Doom that they're going to probably change is, and I don't know how
they're going to change this, molecule man is a huge part of this story.
And I think a huge part of Secret Wars, we have no word so far on whether or not molecule
man could be involved in this, whether or not he could have been killed.
I think there's a chance they could swap Loki for Molecule, man, in some aspects.
He's the god of stories now.
He's controlling the timelines.
He's got a lot of power.
But that's going to have to be a change.
I agree, especially because Tom Hilsson is such a major actor.
He would have to be.
And I don't know how you guys fall on this.
But in terms of like acting abilities, he is like the 1% in the MCU.
Like obviously Patrick Stewart, I,
McKellner kind of in a world unto themselves,
but I don't think they're going to carry
a story. And Loki, from what I haven't
seen it, from whenever a lot of people
I've talked to, including
those present, the show is pretty
phenomenal. It's awesome.
If you like Tom Hiddleston, yeah, you got
to get on it. And it's like widely regarded
as like one of the best up there
with Wanda Vision. Oh, yeah. So I
feel like that would make a lot of sense.
For those of you, unaware,
Molecule, man,
because we sort of knew this to an extent
is like say there's like in the DC world
there's 52 worlds in the Marvel universe
there's an unlimited amount
and there's an unlimited amount of combinations
of the superhero so like in one world
is the ultimate universe
in another world is
some other one it could be the
the midnight universe that just got launched at
New York Comic Kong where everything is like horror based
that Spider-Man is different across the board right
like it is similar
there is a Spider-Man, but it is different.
So, like, in one Spider-Man, he could actually be a spider,
and another one, he could be a supervillain.
Another one, he could be a woman, like Spider-Gwen.
Molecule Man is the same in every single universe.
It is Command-C, Command-V, across the board.
Same Orgy Story, same costume, same binary code.
And Dr. Doom knows this.
And from what I've been told, there are a lot of different Loki's in the TV show.
Yeah.
Correct?
It's an alligator.
There's a alligator.
There's a woman.
We have a bunch of different Loki.
Sylvie, yeah, exactly.
Thor was one.
Wasn't there a Thor Loki?
That was, oh, Throg was in Loki.
That's right.
Throg.
So that could be, if they're not,
if they're going to get rid of the command C,
command V element of molecule land,
I would feel the breadcrumbs are there that like if there's an
endless amount of lokeys that are in the timeline,
that could be the case.
The only caveat would be is Loki is very much a supernatural being like a god.
Yeah, he's definitely God status at this point in the MCU.
So a molecule man is a cosmic entity, right?
Like he controls the cosmos, not very pantheon of god-esque.
But like Dune's Day is next, right?
Like that's the next movie.
Yeah.
You can't introduce molecule man.
So you can't introduce molecule man.
Here he is.
Yeah.
I agree.
He's supposed to be all all powerful.
But in the story, he's such a massive part of this, where he is going and he's killing every version of molecule man, which molecule man is like also like aware of.
Yes.
Molecule man he's with.
That kind of confused me a little bit as well.
So the molecule man in this, in this all give a super, I will try to dumb it down as much as I think for the multiverse.
So an incursion is when a universe is collide.
And it starts with at the very beginning of this.
I'm sorry if I'm taking your plot, Robbie.
No, not at all.
No, this is on you.
You're the professor, not us.
Yeah, not us.
The way an incursion happens is when universe collide.
They are an infinite amount of multiverses,
and eventually they will all end.
We just don't know how or when eventually they will all end.
And incursions happen when universe collide,
but we don't know when, when or where or how.
And when they collide, like Robbie said,
either they both collide and explode
or one of them is destroyed and the one surviving remains.
Something happens
where there is a deviation from the plan.
Like I said, every multiverse is very similar, right?
Something happens in one that causes it to explode.
And they're essentially sends ripples through the multiverse
and starts these incursions.
Imagine like the beads that bounce back and forth,
they all start collapsing.
on one another and we don't know what caused it.
Eventually we learn about the multiverse thing
with Molecule Man and someone killed
the Molecule Man of that multiverse.
Now the people that put the Molecule Man in all of these universe
the Command C, Command V are the Beyonders
or the Ivory Priest or something like that.
I can't remember what they are. It's a synonym. They are the same thing.
The Beyonders essentially use the multiverse.
and us, humans, whatever, superheroes as toys.
And they are experimenting with various things.
They have essentially put the Molecule Man in every single universe as a human bomb.
And when he is destroyed or blown up, that world is destroyed and that multiverse is destroyed.
And their plan is to eventually hit the detonate button on all of them at the same time and wipe out the multiverse.
That plan was ruined when one molecule man was destroyed.
And that is kind of what the mystery is, what happens.
And we eventually learn what happens.
I'm sure we'll get to that at some point, Robbie,
but it is the only being that we don't really see in this cosmic world
because we see, we see like Galactus, we see eternity, we see the living tribunal.
And it's the Beyonders kind of wipe the floor with them.
We see the Celestials.
Like they mop up.
The only one we're missing is the one above all, which is God in this world.
the creator of all.
But he is also like, does he exist in the Marvel universe or not?
Like that is also semi up for debate.
Sort of touched upon an immortal Hulk with the one below,
which is the one with the green door.
We don't have to get into that.
That is a whole other thing too.
But that is essentially what happened is what caused this world to start the incursions,
what lit the fuse early.
Their plan started early.
And that's the dilemma of this of this, which I'm sure the movie might happen to.
And now, again, I don't, we're not going to be getting Molecule Man in this movie.
I don't know if we'll ever get them in the MCU anytime soon.
Am I wrong or I feel like Molecule Man did have a decent role in the original Secret Wars.
Yeah.
He was, that was the one.
Excellent point, Klan.
That's the set.
He, he is, that molecule man is still kind of an infant in his what he can do.
do. Like he doesn't know what he can do yet. And his mind is like, I just control molecules. And then remember when Doom gets the
beyonder powers, he unlocks his mind and molecule man finds out what he can do. And he's the one that
brings everyone home. There's also a phenomenal story of in Dark Avengers where Norman Osborne is the
Iron Patriot and it's all this stuff. And this is where we learn about centuries powers where
Molecule Man is like kind of manipulating time and space and everything in like the middle of nowhere.
Kansas or whatever, Oklahoma, and the Dark Avengers go investigate, and then it's all this stuff.
And Molecule Man kills Century, like instantly.
Oh, wow.
And then Century goes, rebuilds himself.
And this is where the readers learn that Century's powers are not physical.
They are purely molecular.
Like, he also manipulates molecules as well, but not on the level of Molecule Man.
But yes.
So Molecule Man, in just about every big cosmic world.
is a not the main part,
but the lynchpin of everything.
Very similar to the original sequel was.
He's the straw that stirs to the drink.
1,000%.
What's in this?
Go ahead, Glenn.
Let me just say to all the other people
out there who are probably on my brain.
Molecule Man, eternity, infinity,
the living tribunal, the Bioners,
the Black Party published is way above.
Like, Galapis, I don't.
even truly understand, which I think is the whole point of Galactus.
This is a lot of shit.
And this is the stuff I always used to skip over when they'd appear in my comic books.
Dude, I get it.
There's, I fully.
It's, it's very heavy.
Like, I was, I was texting Robbie.
When this came out, when time runs out, came out, I read it.
And, like, you ever either, like, finish a series, like a long mini series?
And you're, like, so emotionally and intellectually invested in it ends.
And it feels like you ran a marathon.
and you're just fraud.
This is, time runs out did that for me.
I was like, oh my God.
I'm just so, my mind is just so melted right now.
But Galactus is the last living being from the previous universe before it was restarted.
He was plucked from.
So he is the, he's death, essentially.
He's the end of time.
There's always one that survives to the next universe.
And Galactus was that from the previous universe.
Something that I want to.
So we learned very recently.
So that's not even like, that's not even like deep lore.
Yeah.
Something that I liked in this early on, and it's not even a huge part of this,
but they show you the fallen city of Wakanda.
And I know there's a lot of talk of like,
how are they going to do the David Johnson thing that he's already been announced
as the next Black Panther?
Are they going to age him up?
Is he going to be from like a multiverse of some sort?
There was even talk of Damon Idris.
And for a while there's a concept art of him as Black Panther.
I kind of love the idea of a Black Panther, especially,
one that wears, let me see if I could find it, that cool ass fucking, he's got like the fur around,
or sure he's got the fur around her black panthers suit, badass. I like the idea of these people
being like, they washed his Wakanda fell. Like why, like, why am I even fighting for them? They let
the city burn. I thought that was like dark and cool. They don't really go into it much beyond
in the beginning of the story. That and also, I feel like when we do doomsday, they're going to
have to add a lot of Dr. Doom because Dr. Doom is in the shadows the entire time of this,
but it's mostly an Avengers story. I think there's even a chance. People are talking about
Dr. Doom working with the Avengers and convincing them that he's good for the first half of the movie
and then turning it on them at some point. I think there's a real chance that happens. It doesn't
really happen in this book, though. I mean, to a degree, like there's a big Doom reveal in this where
you find out he walks out of the smoke and it's such a badass panel. Oh, my God, so cool.
And it's the reveal like, yeah, I'm behind this.
You walk up in this bitch like, you know, he's fucking, he's there.
But even that was a little confusing going into that.
I mean, some of these panels, too, the different versions of doom that they show.
That's exactly what I was talking about.
So this multiverse, like some of those dooms that Robbie's showing right now, some of them are robots.
Some of them are heroes.
Some of them are like that is him explaining.
And then if you see the molecule man panel underneath, it's the same guy.
It's command C, command V across everything.
That is what.
So very briefly
I don't even know if I can do this briefly
It's
This is like
I'm going to throw a bunch of names at you guys
And it's going to be like who the fuck is this guy
It all comes like who the fuck are these guys
So there was
Oh my God
So there's a war
So when the universes are collapsing
The universes
The multiverses are collapsing.
Submariner creates the cabal, which is a bunch of villains and bad dudes who go to that world and destroy them.
Exactly.
So Submariner is the one, is the first one to blow up the first universe with the world killer bomb.
He crosses the line.
And he, I believe they're called the Great Society, which is like a play on the Justice League.
In this world, it's not the Avengers.
It's, quote, the great society.
phenomenal silly goose name.
They destroy that planet.
That planet is wiped, that universe is wiped out.
And then he creates the cabal,
which is a bunch of supervillains,
that if there is ever an incursion about to happen,
because remember I said,
if one world is destroyed,
the other one survives.
So they essentially become the protectors of their world,
but it's like Thanos,
Terax, Black Swan, Maximus,
Proxima Midnight,
and Corvus Glyve, I think his name was.
it's like all of them and they're just like massacring like they'll jump to this world kill everyone blow up the planet samariner loses control of the wall of he loses control he like has a bunch of sadists running around and they're not doing it to save earth they're doing it because they like to be evil like it's bad it's a bad time and samariner goes to doom is like i need to murder here just absolutely massacering people i think that's like banshee that black swan is killing like that universe is banshee that's banshee that's
think so. I can't. I never quite up new.
And he goes
to Doom to be like, I, my
super villains are out. Yeah, exactly.
Out of control.
And Doom is like, should have come to me first. Sorry, dog.
Like, I am no one's second option.
And then Samariner leaves and then Doom goes into the back room.
And it turns out that he also knew the entire time.
He knew about the incursions and has been working with Molecule Man.
And the,
the just, the thing that
killed the molecule man originally that set off the first incursion was the creation of this
gentleman called uh, Rabum Alal, I think is his name was. That turns out to be Dr. Doom the entire time.
And it's because Doom can go through time and space and he goes to this world back in time,
kills a molecule man and destroys that multiverse. And then that's the reveal that Robbie said
the entire time is. And that's a great reveal before it gets to that, the story. The
stuff with Thor and Dr. Strange and they're kind of, yeah, they're looking into it.
They're kind of trying to figure out what's what.
That was the most confusing part of the whole book to me.
So the sunspot that you brought up to the beginning bought,
shoot, I can't remember the organization you bought.
But it's essentially like an evil tech company.
I do not remember.
I think it's AIM, which I was like, he fucking bought AIM.
You've got mail.
That was a good.
I miss aim a lot.
Let's talk about that for a little.
while.
Wait, that's just for the best.
One of my favorite questions I asked fighters on anything but fighting was what was your
aim handle?
That's a great.
Great question.
Pedroia fan of seven right here.
Blake fan.
Jeff Blake.
He was my first fantasy.
Jeff Blake.
The first one my mom made for me so I could message my brother and sister.
That was Robbie love slurpees.
That I made myself.
No way.
I was trying to be a little badass.
So I was like, all right.
Next one, it was Robbie DX-O-1.
Yes.
DX like Degeneration X?
Yeah.
I love it.
We've learned one thing is Robbie loves slurpee.
I still to this day, got to be honest, I love a slurphy.
Who doesn't love a slurphy?
Yes, he bought, he bought Am advanced idea mechanics or international.
It was a supervillain organization that he just turned around.
That's kind of all you need to know.
And he creates kind of this intergalactic.
multiversal Avengers
where it's like Hyperion
there's been multiple Hyperians
throughout the Marvel world
he's kind of a
play on Superman
like he's not Century but he's like
the Boy Scout
Cape he's cool I like
I like Hyperion I like him in small doses though
and I think this is the perfect one
it's Thor
I didn't really know much about him before this
but I thought he was a cool character
I thought he was great and I really loved his friendship
with Thor in this comic book
Star Brands, X Nilo, Abyss, Night Mask.
Like a lot, like your name and heroes that I didn't know before this.
Yeah, it's a lot, I think, but all these were phenomenally chosen for this world.
So it was a multiversal Avengers and Sunspot cuts them in half.
Like one of them stays on Earth to like keep the peace because at this time,
Superior Iron Man is being held wherever.
That's like, doesn't matter.
And I think this is why it's, this is why it's so interesting.
interesting is because you guys claim, I know you love Iron Man.
In a normal story, Iron Man would be the guy taking charge, right?
But he's evil.
He's like a dick.
And he's sidelines.
And this is why the story is so fascinating because, and then on the flip side,
Captain America's old.
And he is using all of his resources to hunt the Illuminati and not protect Earth.
He's kind of become obsessed with the Illuminati.
So like things are going awry.
So these new multiversal avengers, half of them stay on Earth to keep the peace and do what Captain America won't do.
And the other half go into the multiverse.
And that's Thor and Hyperion and a few and nightmask and everything.
And they find a universe where Thor's hammer, this is the only part I thought was so stupid.
They find Thor's hammer in this world.
And like I said, Thor is unworthy.
They find a universe where Mjolnar can only be lifted by people who,
are on work. And I'm like, that's so stupid. I'm pretty sure it's like Thor like T-H-R, T-H-O-R-R, like
you are at a second-R. So I'm like, that sucks. That is like in the Star Wars, the extended
universe when it's Luke and they just add that to you and that's just clone. So stupid. So that sucks.
But him in Hyperion are like doing their thing. And then they meet the black priests. And the black
priests are like these alternate reality or these reality bending figures who are like also kind
of destroying multiverses in protection and then it turns out doctor strange is the one kind of leading
it but they're destroying multiverses that are kind of corrupted already so like and as a doctor like
you know how like when you're getting surgery or something they'll like just trim the fat that you don't
need to protect the other organs that is what they're doing.
So for a long time, you think the black priests are evil.
And then it turns out they've been working with Dr. Strange.
And then Dr. Strange and Thor go to confront the beyonders.
And they think they kill a few of them, if I remember correctly.
And then they just get wiped out, totally wiped out.
The scene where Doom goes and like confronts the Beyonders, that was sick when they're like, who are you?
And he just fucking stands there like on business.
Like, I'm Doom.
and you're going to have to worry about me.
That was really good.
Yeah.
There's stuff in this where Doom's talking to Valeria and they're calling him Uncle Doom and
there's shit like that where we see at the end of Fantastic Four First Steps, he's sitting
down there with Franklin.
And it's like, whoa, Franklin, why are you talking to fucking Dr. Doom?
Is this guy going to be his fucking uncle and the kids are going to be kind of like, oh,
we could trust him when you can't trust Doom?
I'm really glad you brought this up because I kind of forgot about this part.
So Valerr super backstores.
Valeria Richards is the daughter of Sue and Reed Richards, obviously.
She's kind of like a combination of her parents.
Like she can create force fields, but she can't go invisible.
But she also, her IQ is on the same level of Reed Richards and Dr. Doom.
She is also the only one that can neutralize Franklin.
So she is not as powerful, but is like can neutralize him, right?
Clem's just shaking it's that.
This is layer.
This is verbatim.
No, no, no. This is verbatim what comics explained.
He explained her the same exact way.
The fact we just get Jose to come on this show and do what that guy does is like a miracle.
We have our own personal comics explained.
Like it was verbat.
I'm like, that's exactly the way he explained it in like the same order.
And the fact you included Reed with Dr. Doom and the intellect, I was like, that's exactly what he said.
And then he was like, oh yeah, but he also cancels out the sun.
I'm like, holy shit.
He fucking.
Comics explained
Isn't no hobby for Jose
You know
Kevin Kisnerko
It ain't no hobby
This is life
I like
Comics explained
It just has a much better voice
And much more articulate
Than myself
But since Valeria is so genius
She gives
Read this letter
And it says like
You're not gonna win
Which I personally
Here's the letter
I'm actually on the page
Dad you can't win
That's like
When Adrian
says it's Iraqi, right?
It doesn't make...
Yeah, you got to learn how to lose.
But then the line, what does she say?
Time to figure out a way to not lose?
Yeah.
That's how to lose.
It's a good line.
I loved this scene in this world
because it is always the superhero.
This is the issue.
And I don't...
It's not a problem because we read superheroes
for like the heroics, right?
Yeah.
When you know you're not going to win
and now it's just like,
we need to survive is I loved this.
Yeah.
I liked this more than the Doom reveal.
Oh, interesting, yeah.
Because the Doom reveal was badass and cool,
and I really, I love Dr. Doom.
I think he's top, at worst, third, third best supervillain ever, at worst.
Across all franchises or, or.
You go Joker one?
I go Magneto Doom.
I go Magneto 1, Joker 2.
And I put Doom in Norman Osborne,
kind of like third.
Because Norman, not specific.
We talk about Vader.
If we're talking like,
I wasn't even thinking of data.
I wasn't even thinking of it, but you're not wrong.
We'll shrink it.
We'll do the comics, so, because
Jaylor Brunson happened to say they go,
give us your how to take. He goes,
Darth Vader is the greatest, like, villain ever.
And then you said that and it triggered me.
So we're talking comics.
Yeah.
Across universe.
Yes.
Okay.
Fair enough.
I would put Dr. Doom at worst third, and I put him on the level.
Norman, not specifically Green Goblin because Norman has done other things.
Like real tangent, like quick tangent.
I bury a lot much like the idea that Norman is Peter Parker's best adversary,
but Doc Ock is Spider-Man's best adversary, which I like that.
Love that.
I think that whoever came up with that nailed it on the head.
Also, you throw a Norman Osborne on your list,
but being like not totally Green Goblin.
It feels like you're like, listen, I love McCartney,
but like I'm into wings.
Norman has done various other things.
Like Norman's been Iron Patriot.
He's been himself.
He's been like various other entities besides the Green Goblin.
But for supervillains sake,
Green Goblin is way up there too.
Green Goblin is the Joker of the Marvel Universe.
I still think Magneto is the best ever.
but Valeria is sick
she basically says like you need to survive
and I love this so much because
I at this point I kind of had these ideas
of like where is this going where is this going
didn't see this comment
this is the yeah this is that rare occasion
where I'm like huh
I am full I don't know where this could go
because now we think I take it
I took it as
Valeria is when she said something in the common books
the readers it happens
there's no oh they could pull a rabbit out of the hat like that doesn't exist for me
valeria says if a larry goes you can't win me jose goes
that is that is hickman's she's speaking through hickman
hickman is speaking to her they cannot win there is no will captain merrick
pull out of their hat that's a wrap for me um and i it's like if you're it's like
tie game late and overtime two NFL teams and you're like fuck we could lose this game
And then the quarterback just keeps running around and slides and you're like, there's no timeouts.
It's like that's best case scenario.
We can get a time.
And this.
Hypothetically speaking.
Hypothetically.
We had the basement poll this week.
It was.
Yeah.
That was awesome.
I'm sure Jose was probably, he was probably doing the frigging gritty on Jaden's grave.
I'm in like a group chat with all my ASU friends.
And we're all just like, LOL Jaded.
L-O-L Jaded.
When all those five stories were going around,
I just saw it was like,
Jose must be so happy right now.
Just like inject into my face.
Everything we said about Jadennell's is coming true.
And I was like,
No, no, listen.
Still great leadership.
His mom steered him in the right direction.
We love Jamesville.
Totally.
I got bad news, Bob.
Valeria just said he's never winning a Super Bowl.
Oh, no.
I love it.
I love that.
I'm going to use that more often.
I love that.
And the Sue Storm twist, too, when you think Sue Storm is going after her husband read for the first quarter of the book, maybe.
And she's like, cut throw about it.
Like, what will you do if you see?
I'll fucking put his ass in jail.
She's like, fuck him.
I'm not for what he's going for.
And then she reveals she's like, what, you think I was going against my fucking husband?
What are you crazy?
Like, I would love for something like that to happen in either doomsday or secret wars.
I think even specifically with Vanessa Kirby, I feel like she could play that so well.
Both sides for sure.
Now, is Sue Storm that kind of bitch in the comics
where she always has reads back,
no matter what, within reason?
Not in the ultimate universe.
Which we will get to in this chat.
We have to.
And it's my,
after the Valeria scene,
the Doom thing is very cool. I liked it.
The actual reveal at the end
with the universes
that sets up Secret Wars,
it is something that like I have
I have a very good friend back in Arizona that is probably
that is also my level of comic fandom
it's something we would like joke about like imagine if this happened
how amazing that would be and then they did it
it's like when the group chat becomes reality
that is what happened
it was amazing um
but yeah Sue was cool I really liked how she used her
uh so eventually because of this
the Illuminati and the
whatever you want to call
Captain America's weird obsession
they confront each other finally
and Sue Storm separates them all with force fields
because Sue Storm is like low key hyper powerful
and then they calm each other down because
United Front like the Watchmen
we have one United Supervillain
we have to work together
and this happens a lot in the
especially in this iteration
of the Marvel world where like
I can't remember what it was
there was a phenomenal one-off where
like the Dark Avengers and the original Avengers
had to work together because there was a frost giant in New York City
and Aries and Thor were like
on opposite sides of the battle
but since they were from Asgard and they were like
guys this is way more important
but we could quite literally be going to hell
like enough fighting that happens a lot in this world
and I always kind of enjoy that,
but Sue was the perfect conduit for that type of conversation.
I thought you said this happens a lot in Marvel.
It was that Captain America is just wrong.
And everything he's doing is just completely like fucking everything.
He is.
He truly believes it.
What he wants to believe?
I don't know if I have caps back in this as much as I do,
like the Civil War argument because he's opposed to destroying one of the worlds.
Yeah.
But it's like, again, it's like we have to save one or the other.
Right? Like, you just both the dots.
But we're also talking like saving half in this.
And I'm like, oh, they're going to loop that back to the like Thanos.
They're going to be like, that's the Thanos mindset.
What, save half?
Like, I won't argue with them in that case, Bob.
I kind of pinned on that one.
I'm glad you brought up that part because I completely spaced on it is the beginning when they find the first incursion.
And then they try to use the infinity gaunt to push the thing back.
And it doesn't work because the infinity gaunt works in that universe.
It doesn't work.
It's not, you can't bring it to another universe and use it.
And no one did this better than George Perez's Marvel versus Avengers comic book where the collector,
shoot, I can't remember.
It's two people are having a, like, it's a contest over who has the better superheroes.
And they take these artifacts and the first one to collect the most wins.
And they put the Infinity Gaulet in the DC universe and there is this unreal.
panel of Darkside with the full
infinity gauntlet.
And we know what the gauntlet
does and we know what Darkside can do.
And it's like, oh, shit.
And like all the villains superheroes are like,
oh, what's going on down? And it doesn't
work because it's in the DC world.
So it's nothing. So Darkside
just goes. Darkside quite literally takes
the gauntlet and throws it into the fire.
And it's phenomenal.
So anyway, it doesn't work. And then
they want to blow up the planet and
Captain America doesn't want to. And then
Dr. Strange wipes his mind, which is very much secret identity, which I hate that comic
book story from the DC world.
It is so divisive because I've never interviewed him.
You definitely have, Robbie, is Cody Rhodes did an interview.
Oh, right.
And you just had, who's the guy that is the coffin interviews?
David Dasmouching, yeah, Polka Don, man.
He had him on and Cody Rhodes is like, you know, secret identity really got me in the comics.
I'm like, that's insane.
that is an insane thing to say because that is an insane story anyway uh i quite liked that
that moment and then like the jump through the eight months and him getting his memories back
and turning on iron man being like you guys are the real bad guys because the illuminati is i texas
dera i quite like when the illuminati are involved in the marvel university original illuminati
is uh iron man reid richards dr strange i
I think Professor X and maybe Samariner, I can't remember.
But it's, they represent the, so like Professor X represents mutants.
Reed Richards represents individuals who got their powers through something else, not mutants.
And he's also represents the science world.
Dr. Strange represents the mystic realm.
And Samariner represents like, whatever, right?
Like Atlantis.
And they're the ones that send Hulk into space that starts planet Hulk.
and then eventually World War Hulk, that is them.
So they always try to do their best, never works out.
So when they show up, you're like, well, they're going to, what are they going to fuck up this time?
And it's usually the universe.
The smartest people you know making the biggest mistakes possible.
Bingo.
But what you said is like, you don't like what I said about Iron Man sidelines, which is an interest, which I very much enjoyed.
The same thing, you'd start disagreeing with Captain America, which is also not the norm.
So Iron Man's looking like Clint Eastwood in this book.
Like you're like this fucking old geezer don't know what he's talking about.
So it allows other heroes to shine because it was very much Cap v. Iron Man in the comic books.
And since they're both just out of their minds, they get, we get this, we get other people get the spotlight, which I quite enjoy.
I like that.
Speaking of the spotlight, someone that's constantly, you know, obviously had its run.
Do you think we're going to get the infinity gone, but in Doomsday now that it's,
does play
I will in this.
Dude,
now that you say it,
I think a phenomenal way
to show
the magnitude
would be the gauntlet
not working on screen.
Yeah.
Because the stones
explode it with
they're in Loki
in the show.
There's a like
they have the infinity stones
in a desk drawer.
And it's like a joke
because it's like,
yeah,
they don't work here.
Like it's like whatever.
Oh,
interesting.
I throw them in the
junk drawer.
So like,
I think there's an opportunity
for you to do something
like that almost playing off the TVA thing.
Yeah.
I really like that idea.
But yeah, it would be great because they all break,
except for the time stone.
Time stone disappears.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yes, exactly.
So if they show that right out of the gate.
Oh, there's an encouragement.
That would be cool.
All right, let's get the gaunt.
Oh, shit.
Like, this is going to be a very big deep cut.
Remember in Spy Kids 3 when the guy gets destroyed right away?
No.
I mean, I'm so, God.
I remember seeing it. It was the 3D one.
You got the 3D glasses.
Glenn Powell as a young kid is in it.
That was an elite movie as a kid.
I don't remember the details of it, though.
So the guy is supposed to be the all-powerful individual that can beat everyone.
And he gets wiped out immediately.
And that's literally just to show the magnitude of how powerful this is.
Elijah Wood plays the guy.
I think that's his first movie.
I think that's his first movie post Lord of the Rings too, which is amazing.
That's so funny.

Carl Anthony Towns won on hot ones this week literally didn't get faced by a single hot sauce.
Shocker.
Is he even Dominican or something like that?
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's fun.
Completely fun.
Yeah.
Sean Evans was like gasping and Cat had to be like you could drink, man.
It's okay.
He was like holding his back.
It sounds like the Knicks need to give him that extra $70 million.
He keeps out of the floor.
Honestly.
He deserves it.
Give it to.
I agree.
Then we have to trade them for Paul George down the road.
No one wants to do that.
I don't want that.
Two little things in this.
Let's go back.
Two little things that I would like to see in Dooms Day or Secret Wars.
There's a moment where Sean Chi.
replicates and there's like a hundred shang cheese i think that would be cool i didn't like the way that
they did it cg i was an ant man in the was quantum mania when they had like 100 antans but i think they
could figure it out and then just this panel we need a panel where the avengers get to be this
badass against either the thunderbolts or the x-men the avengers are ordering you to stand down
and you get this big like you know ship like coming down so cool i need the avengers especially with
the cast we have now whereas clemace mentioned it's we're not the it's not the it's not the not the
number one draft picks anymore. There's a couple of them still hanging around, but there's a lot of
people now where it's like, well, that's the second version of so-and-so, or that's the B-T or so-and-so.
You need them to have aura, especially against the X-Men, especially against the Thunderbolt, who everyone
loved, you need to make them out as badasses in this movie. I mean, everyone's saying that Doom is
facing like the 2019 Cavaliers or the 2014 Cavaliers. I'm going, I keep going back and back. It's like the
2009 Cavaliers. It's like LeBron and then.
and Algousis and Mo Williams.
Like, it is, it is kind of tough.
We, I'm trying to think.
So Thor is Thor, right?
Thor, Dr. Strange is still kicking around,
but we really don't know anything about Dr. Strange.
Like, people are thinking maybe he's even working for the opposite team.
He's got that third eye now.
Who knows what's going on?
Captain Falcon is not, it just doesn't move the needle.
I like him.
I really like Anthony Mackey.
He's not moving.
He is.
So Falcon is the, is Captain America in time runs out.
Yeah.
Oh, he is.
Because Captain is super old.
Yeah.
And I wonder how they're going to play Cap and Doomsday as well,
because we know he's going to be like no mad.
He's wearing just,
he's wearing like the outfit I'm wearing now.
And he's got me old here,
which is,
it is what it is.
Like,
would I rather see him strap on the fucking suit again?
Yeah,
even if you're not going to call Captain America.
Like let him wear some armor.
He's wearing a fucking shirt like this.
He fills it out a little more than I do.
But it's just like kind of a strange thing.
Also,
what does that mean
for the moment in end game
when he comes back as an old man.
Does that mean old man
cap was Loki pretending to be
old man cap?
Hmm.
Could also be hydrocap.
People also think that.
Now, the confusing thing is he's got Mjolnir.
So people are saying if he's hydrocap,
he's not going to be worthy, right?
Unless he's from that fucking universe.
What I just say, though,
there's a universe out there where you can pick up the Thor
if you're unworthy.
It's true.
It's true.
See Rogers with two R's at the end?
Yeah, that's right.
It's Rogers with a D.
It's like Aaron Rogers last name.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Something like that.
You get Hank Pym in this, too?
Yeah, so I was going to say.
He's coming back like that.
That's a cool aspect of this.
I imagine you substitute Hank for Scott Lang and this.
I also, I like Scott Lang.
I worry about him in Doomsday.
I think he's gone.
I was begging for them to kill him in fucking quantum mania.
And I like fucking, what's his name?
Paul Rudd.
Paul Rudd.
I love him.
He's delightful.
But I was like, yes, this will make Kang fucking stick.
Yes.
We needed some stakes.
We needed you to establish that.
But now it's like you should have went for the head.
It's like now you're fucking, you're dead in Doomsday now.
And I was actually going to say, I almost feel like someone that they could have used to replace molecule man would have been Kang.
Kang.
Kang. However, Kang is literally the one guy that is variant. We've already seen all the variants on screen in that one post-credit scene, right? And then they just completely just dismiss the character. Now, maybe they do something with it here. Maybe they mention it. Yeah. Maybe they mentioned Doom killed all of them. Yeah, but it just feels like they could have made him a bigger part without having to, you know, bring Jonathan Majors back. And I just feel like that's kind of been wasted, which I guess the other big bad is Thanos. Are we getting the fucking skeleton out?
Is there a chance that's going to happen?
I've been thinking about that.
I think there's a chance.
We talked about it and saying another, like, could they substitute Loki?
Like, would you rip Loki skeleton out?
That would be kind of crazy.
I know Loki's died a thousand times.
The more I think about that, the more I'm like, is that how you open Secret Wars?
I think that's at the very beginning of Secret Wars.
Yeah.
And he's got that white outfit on.
Like, we're already, we know we're getting a couple costume changes in this.
Doom's a fucking diva.
And I'm excited about that.
He's got this Admiral Doom outfit.
He's got his cool, different masks.
I think it would be cool if by the end of this,
or maybe just starting Secret War,
you give him that white robe and everything
and fucking start it with that scene.
Because there's a lot of rumors that Doomsday starts with like
Toby McGuire's Spider-Man World versus the X-Men world.
Everyone's saying that the two endgame encore universes that were colliding
were supposed to be those two universes.
And if that's true,
Bob is going to be hard in his seat before the frigging Marvel credits are over.
Like we were joking like when we were texting.
It's like if they give us like a three man either battle or convo where you get R.D.J. Toby and Hugh Jackman on screen together.
Oh my God.
That's like that's like the end of fucking WrestleMania 40 when it's just the music's hitting and you're like what?
He's coming out now?
The Undertaker's Dong hit?
What the fuck?
I might cry.
Like because that would feel like a 26 year journey.
through all those movies.
Yeah.
And that's the other, like, R.D.J is another crazy aspect that you throw a wrench in this where it's
like, well, how is that coming into the plan?
Is there even going to be a moment in doomsday where he takes the mask off as that the reveal
at the end?
Is that how he fools the Avengers at first?
Is that something they're saving for secret wars?
I don't know how that could possibly come into play after reading this.
Yeah, unless they make it like he is a variant of doom because like I said, there's multiple
dooms.
Yeah.
Because that could be a way.
I guess Iron Man's like evil in this.
Like, yeah.
What if Iron Man is the variant of doom?
It's the other way around.
Everywhere else he's bad and yeah, he's good in 616.
So in the comic book like, like,
that'd be interesting.
Whoa.
You got.
So in the comic book, did you got, you guys still see me?
Okay.
I got you.
For whatever reason, my whole screen with black.
In the, the reveal that I was saying that I got really hyped about.
Yeah.
is so the cabal does their thing right and they're they're like set up because they need to get rid of the cabal samariner sets them up and they're going to blow up this plant this universe with the cabal there and then samariner's going to come back the last minute and be like deuces out but black panther and black bolt are like so at this point samariner exactly exactly samariner and black panther leading into time runs out have been like full on feuding like the rock
Stonehold feuding.
And Black Panther shows up at the escape and is like, not today.
And then like kicks him back into the fight.
There you go.
Stabs him.
So bad.
The art's amazing in this book, too.
Unreal.
But the cabal, the plan was because these worlds are combined.
But there's a third universe that's collapsing.
And the cabal jumps to that universe.
That is the ultimate universe, which is what I always joked about.
I'm like, imagine if we could get a full-on confrontation.
Because we got it a little bit with Spider-Men,
where the 6-16 Peter Parker jumped to the ultimate universe and met Miles Morales.
And I loved that.
And there was the world where I think it was the ultimate,
I can't remember which one went, but Mysterio went into the other universe with like an android type thing.
I also quite enjoyed that, and that was kind of the first leak between things.
But they get to the ultimate universe and they meet.
my favorite character from the ultimate universe outside of ultimate spider man which the original
spider man i'm very annoyed how it ended but regardless the best thing to come out of the ultimate
universe is not miles morales it's not spider gwen it's none of that it is the maker who is yeah
an unreal superhero super villain of the 21st century he is in the pantheon of best new additions
across both companies d you see marvel the maker
is evil Reed Richards
where in the
ultimate Fantastic 4
Reed Richards life is over and all this stuff
happens and he just goes pure
evil and he gets
a sick helmet
and he can stretch but like
that's not even the cool part he's
just such
an evil individual and he I would
put him on the level of Thanos
Dark Side do just
he shows up
he wipes people out and he
is amazing and he is he would know the incursions are happening he's all this world is also
like like ben and sue end up together at the end which i didn't quite like but it is what it is
and then it turns out this was an interesting avenue they took the ultimate thing is the
rock surrounding him on his body were like a cocoon and then when they broke he's made of like
pure energy and he just looks like a person made of energy didn't quite
I liked the concept.
The helmet.
Amazing.
I love the maker.
The maker right now in the comic book is still doing the damn thing.
That maker.
Oh, really?
Still doing the damn thing.
And he has, I tweeted it out.
I'm not spoiling this because you got to go read it.
There's an amazing issue with like Doom and the maker that came out like within the last 12 months,
which I think.
they have to include in Doomsday 2.
Yeah.
Phenomenal.
He's amazing.
And if they, I joke, like, imagine if they made like an evil Reed Richards and they made
it the maker.
I don't think they can do that in the show in the movie because we've only got in one
Reed Richards movie.
Yeah.
It wouldn't land.
Yeah.
But.
And we had Krasinski for a second, but then they made him spaghetti.
Like, it would have been kind of cool if you take someone like that and you're like,
okay, this is the alternate version.
He could become evil.
But you killed him real quick.
I mean, he got two minutes of screen time.
If that.
So fast.
That is the cool aspect of this book, though, for sure.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Which that was kind of a different version, but for the most part, they had him.
It was no Iron Man.
It was no Doctor Strange.
But there was like an empty seat when they showed it.
So people were like, is that Iron Man seat?
Like, is he just not there that day?
And in the end of multiverse of madness, doesn't he like go into a time rift, like, clear or whatever, Dr. Strang's?
Yeah.
And people think there's a.
chance that she could be one of Doom's witches. Doom has these three witches and one has a
purple robe. One is a purple robe. One has a green robe. One has an orange robe and a lot of names
are being thrown out. Clea, Sylvie from the Loki show, Agatha, Wanda. A lot of people are
like, who are these witches and do they have a role? He also has like another guy. I think his
name is Boris and he wears like a mask and it's like Doom's helper and a lot of people also
think that could be a reveal of some sort like that's someone we know under the mask.
You know what I'm kind of interested for is Doom and his, I guess, I mean his character's
personality, the arrogant side and then obviously the genius side, just all that.
Robert Danny Jr. gets to just be a completely different person.
And I'm interested to see how he plays that role on the big screen.
Because Tony Stark forever was just, he grew obviously at the end,
but he was always wisecracking, kind of fun, whatever.
Exactly.
He could now be,
you could go a lot of different ways with this doom.
And that's the good thing.
It's like,
A,
you're going to have,
that was our hero doing a 180 being the big bed,
but now you have someone who has fucking statues upon statues and the ability
to really make you feel some sort of way about something here.
So that's kind of like,
the voice already.
Like,
you can't tell that's fucking bony stark when he's doing the voice it's crazy and then you put him under
the mask and everything and it's like he really is going to just be it he's just going to be a different
person it's like he's playing fucking strass strauss whatever in oppenheimer and listen i i would
like to have a fresh actor for doom i just think there were so many reasons they had to go the
way they did i'm going to give it a shot and i hope i think there's definitely a chance it's awesome it
might just be stale by the time it happens and i'm sure hosey you can answer this like
there's also a chance
Stark is just the guy for this movie or just
the next movie, but you feel
like they have to nail Doom moving
forward. There has to be Dr. Doom in the
MCU for the next decade, right?
I think there has to be a doom
that is not Robert Downey Jr.
Yeah. You know, whether that's
like, whether that's
Killingham Murphy or whoever,
I think there has to be a
non-R-DJ Doom for sure.
David Dasmeltsin when he was in. He was like, yeah, I always dreamed
to plan doom. He's like, I heard they cast someone, but
that's that fucking guy. He's great
now. He's amazing.
Yeah, there has to be. I don't
think when they announced this, first
I thought it was a red herring for RDJ.
And then I'm like, there's no way.
Like, he has to be a variant.
It would be interesting. Oh, God.
There's the do.
I love all he did this, dole.
I tweeted it out, but there's like
an interesting, the one I was talking about with like
young
doom that, like, the last
issue of a very specific ultimate world is like a doom pre-scarification but he's wearing the robe in the hood and he's young and he gets this like it's like a very cool like final they could do that where they get young doom that learn for the old doom's mistakes or the actual puppet master i think what would be amazing is if at the end of doom's day the real doom is revealed like the come through that would be cool some people think that too like there's a shot in the trailer where you see like doom
eye and people are like that's not fucking Robert
Downey Jr's eye. I know his eye and that
ain't it. People are like dead
said on that. Yeah, I know. That feels like
when people said that like, oh, that's got to be Boba Fett's
Spurs and the book of Boba Fetter
and Mandalorian whatever. And then they wanted to be in
right though and we were like, oh, fuck it. Maybe
people know the fucking spurs every now and then.
But yeah,
Doom is a tricky
character too post
Secret Wars because you would
imagine Doom wins in
Doom's Day and then in Secret Wars.
do the end game thing where the Avengers
then win but where does that
leave Doom is it
yeah you beat this one and then there's still
a doom out there and would he just be the next
villain for like a Fantastic Four movie or
would he turn into the doom that is like
not so bad but we all know
he could fucking flip a switch
at any point
then we almost he's just he's just Noah from lanterns
at that point
that's a good point
yeah
how do you make that work
obviously the Avengers have to beat him in Secret Wars.
Doom's not going to win two nothing
two out of three falls match.
How many movies are coming out
between Doom's Day and Secret Wars?
Like none.
But there's like shows and stuff too, right?
Well, actually, I shouldn't say like none
because Secret War is going to get delayed for sure.
Like there's no chance that Secret Wars is coming out in 2027.
They haven't even started filming yet.
So X-Men might be out by then.
And they still don't.
need to do secret
they need to do Midnight Sons
they need to do Ghost Rider
I'd love if they did that
Ghost Rider I think might be post
Secret Wars and people think maybe
you debut him in Secret Wars
you show him in Secret Wars tease him
and then he gets to do his own movie right after that
Doom's Day
it's just I'm sorry not Toom's Day
Daredevil is the only thing scheduled
before it right now that's one of action
And that's gonna have no impact on
this shit I don't think
Which I also think
put Charlie Cox in fucking Secret Wars.
Even if it's just in the big battle scene,
he gets to show up, let that fucking guy
be in an adventurous movie. That's crazy.
You can't sell him to the show again. Put him in the fucking
adventures. He's earned it.
Where's Echo? What's Echo doing?
Echo, she's gone.
There's no chance they're giving us a.
That was like a mini series.
They probably not given a She Hulk anymore.
Moon Knight, they better not be done on
because Oscar Isaacs, and every interview,
he's like, yeah, I'd be done to play Moon Night.
Well, he has to be in Super Wars.
He has, I mean, Moon Knight for sure has to be a midnight
science.
for sure.
It would have to be,
because they're not doing a blade anymore,
so who knows who's going to be.
I know that,
that too,
is,
yeah,
that's a,
that's a tough fumble.
I don't know what there's,
like,
I,
I wasn't on the journey that you guys took to end game, right?
Yeah.
Like,
I would have met,
like,
for me as someone that I kind of,
like,
knew what was going on
because of the comic books
and heard from people through it.
Like,
I went to that opening day,
and I was very excited to witness everything.
But I didn't even see,
see infinity gala.
I just saw Endgame.
But I knew.
You've seen it by now, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, okay.
For sure.
But I still haven't seen a lot of, like, I've never seen a Captain American movie, ever.
You've never seen any of the Captain American movies?
Oh, my God, Jose, Winter Soldier, Civil War, they're so good.
I totally get it.
As our boy, Coles said, they only really get good once Iron Man becomes the center of the plot.
No, no.
Dude, winner, winner, Soldier, Elite.
Elite movie.
Come on.
Robert Redford playing the president.
What was the main twist and winter soldier?
I've seen...
No, that wasn't winter soled.
It looks like it's the same thing.
It goes back into Civil War.
That's the big thing.
Which one to introduce Spider-Man?
Civil War.
Civil War.
Okay.
I saw that scene because I was like a Spider-Man, right?
Dude, when Queens hits on the screen during that, it's so good.
So good.
So, good.
So I wasn't there for the...
journey, right? I've since seen enough.
Like, I was very specific. Like, I saw
all the Spider-Man movies. I saw all the
strange movies.
I saw...
Do you see the Thor movies?
No. I never saw Thorne.
I was very
miffed by various...
It's a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff with how Marvel
handled, like, creator rights type
situation. That was...
It had nothing to do with Tai Kauai Ti. I know
as a movie. I know...
Yeah. What's the second one?
Magna Rock?
That's the third one.
That's the one.
That's what everyone loves.
Yeah.
I fully know that that is a good movie.
I just had a very, I was, I just felt like I had to take a shower if I saw that movie.
Yeah.
But so I wasn't there for the journey, right?
But I, people that I were with were like crying because they were there.
Right.
I'm sure you guys felt the same.
It's the difference between like when the next one, the title versus someone who just jumped
on the bandwack.
It's like, it's a different feeling.
It is true.
Like my cousins don't remember the curse of the Red Sox.
Yep.
I,
I've seen my dad cry once in my life.
His mom passed away.
He like got,
he was obviously sad.
My dad cried when the Red Sox won the World Series.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it's like,
I get it.
But I don't know what they're going to do because like the big reveal for Doom now in the
comic book time runs out is because of what led up to it.
Like,
What's the emotional punch, if you don't know?
Like Gambit was introduced like in a, like, where's that?
Deadpool has to be in too in this as something.
Yeah, I think I think so.
We saw the scene of like him crying with Thor and Deadwood Wolverine.
And they're going to, they're going to pay that off.
I don't think they're going to pay it off in this one.
I think they're going to pay it off in the next one too.
I think they're going to like dangle that in front of us like Avengers
assemble.
They're going to be like, we're going to do it, but you're going to wait and you're
going to keep buying movie tickets.
God.
But I would assume Deadpool's in it because also Deadpool and huge.
Jackman were like a part of the panel at Comic-Con
where he was wearing like Jean Grey suit
and it was the denim like gray denim suit or whatever.
I thought that was funny.
But yeah,
is the emotional gut punch just the Tony Stark connection?
I think that.
Yeah,
they're going to bring,
because you have to scramble now with the Kang shit.
But I do think Kang will get a mention,
I think they're going to mention Doom killed all the Kangs.
You'd have to, right?
And like what's like also there's a celestial sticking out of the ground in the middle
of the ocean.
They did at least acknowledge,
that in the last Captain America movie.
I was also wondering, and this would be,
I think comic fans would hate this, and it would be
a little sacrilege. Did they
swap the Beyonders for the
Celestials just because the MCU
audience knows the Celestials?
Would they give the Celestials
almost that scene with
Doom where Doom stands in front of
them? Maybe. It would, that
scene is directly from a what if
Infinity Gauntlet story, where
what if Doom kept
Beyonder's powers in the Infinity
what if Doom kept the Beyonders powers from Secret Wars?
There's an amazing scene where Doom, it's like tiny Doom,
and then all the Celestials.
And then there's like this epic battle.
I think that could be cool.
I also think they might be looking for a way to write them out of the MCU for a little bit.
Like,
I don't think they're following up the Eternals.
Which is a bummer because Black Knight was supposed to be introduced, right?
I know.
Black Knight at the end and Blades talking to them.
Like there's a whole, like, yeah.
I think, because in, in Times,
runs out the the
we were via
Hank Pam or via
Hank Pam which I assume will be replaced
by Scott Lang. Yeah. We are told
that we they
showed the Beyonders powers by showing
them destroy the Celestius.
Yeah. Like that's how you could wipe
them out right? True. And you could
yeah, you could do that. We also
we know that the Beyonders
exist because of the original
Secret Wars. We met the Beyonder.
And he is part of that
race. He is a, he is part of that race, but he's like a child. He's like a baby
beyonder and the beyonders and timers out are like fully formed. Um, they could do that
essentially use the beyonders as a reset button. Like we don't have any plans for the celestials.
Let's just destroy them by with the beyonders. And that's how you can do it. And you see the reset
coming in this because a big part of it is there's like Jose said, infinite multiverses and
Marvel and whatnot.
And by the end, they're like, there's two dozen left.
Like something happened and there's fucking 20 universes left and we're about to get down to
even less than that.
And I think that's exactly where doomsday is going to lead to where it's like,
okay, those multiverses are not around anymore.
And then you queue up battle world for Secret Wars and that.
If they nail this, Secret Wars is going to have like end game hype again.
I really believe that.
Oh, 100%.
I know it doesn't have the buildup as good.
What if they fucking nailed Doomsday?
Right after they nailed the last Spider-Man movie,
right after, you know, Vision Quest,
the only two episodes are out right now,
but it looks like it's on a good track.
Daredevil was really good.
Marvel's kind of on a heater right now.
Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, both really well-received.
I think if they, people forget,
Infinity War, people went into a little trepidious.
People were, like, heights, no doubt.
But people were, are they going to make this work?
Like, are they going to have,
we saw it work with, like, the first Avengers movie,
but the second Avengers movie people were mixed on.
And then it was like, all right, you're adding 30 characters?
How do you make that work?
And then off the heels of that, end game became the most hype movie of all time
because they nailed that with a cliffhanger.
You do that with this?
You give us a cliffhanger half as good as this fucking comic with the universes colliding
and the huge, you know, crazy fight.
And the, oh, it started with two men.
One was life and one was death and one always wins.
Everything dies.
Oh, come on.
You have Dr. Doom Deliote.
deliver that line and his Latvarian accent, I'll buy my ticket and just stay in the theater.
I don't care how long it'll take two years.
I'll sit my ass down in that theater and I'll be ready for Secret Wars.
I think it's, it makes sense because the last, like the big turning point in time runs out for the people listening to haven't read it is eventually Steve and everyone agree.
It is not about winning.
It's about survival.
And rather than save their worlds, they have to.
join multiverses, right? So you have to unite.
It's, we're going to lose, but let's save as many as we can.
And that is how the ultimate universe eventually in Secret Wars joins the main universe,
which is how Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen join the main one, which is how you're going to get fantastic for,
which is how you're going to get X-Man, which is how you're going to get a Deadpool.
It's perfect.
It's like you just put the puzzle pieces right there.
You have the blueprint.
It's here.
Jonathan Hickman fucking did it.
And I think he's been laying the blueprint for the MCU for a long time even before that.
Jonathan Hickman is, I don't know how his brain operates, man.
Is he unproblematic too?
I feel like half the great comicry.
As far as I know.
They're problematic now or something.
I haven't heard anything about him.
This guy's a god.
Yeah.
I haven't heard anything about him, honestly.
I don't think he's that problematic whatsoever.
So he just might be a genius.
But like this is all this is when Marvel could not miss.
Like, obviously it's since flipped because like,
and Mortal Hulk was coming out.
Time runs out.
The ultimate universe.
All of these things were just like cooking.
And then they're getting cooked.
Oh, it's so bad.
They're getting cooked by DC so bad.
They said,
Star Wars Marvel crossover by Kevin Smith.
Yeah.
And I was hitting the big red button.
I did San Diego Comic-Con and that's like the only announcement Marvel made that I was
like, that's cool.
DC was just like,
you want you want this.
Well, what about all of these?
other things and it was just like pure hypoage and dc just fit in this yeah and but it's the opposite
with the movies right like dc is kind of like what are we doing here and marvel just has the
blueprint so yeah if they could just work together which we will never get don't say never
in our lifetime we're getting a marvel dc crossover movie and i don't i don't know if i even
like that i don't know if it'll be good we're getting it though it would have to be the money will
be there and it'll be like all right we can't deny
The JLA Avengers story by George Perez is the only way to go if that happens.
It's four issues.
It's perfect.
That's where you get the epic shot of Superman with Captain America Shield with Thor's Hammer.
And it slaps.
It slaps.
Give me a little bit of that.
I'll take 17 of those.
Tremendous.
All right.
Was there anything else?
That was pretty much what I had on time runs out.
I know we kind of did free swim.
It wasn't as chronological going through the story.
but there's a lot of different threads going on in this again avengers new avengers you're talking
to lumini i feel like we did a good job of highlighting kind of what we think is going to be in doomsday
what's going to be excluded from doomsday what's cool in this i would highly recommend people pick this up
it's like again a little confusing to go in but if you listen to this already you you know the the basics
of where iron man is and whatnot but even just this general the marvel premiere collection i think
it's their response to dc's compact comics um really good like
This feels like a good quality book.
So go to your local comic store and buy it.
As Jose always recommends, your local comic store.
Do it.
Yeah, it's, we, it was like Robbie said, very free-flung,
but that's kind of what this story is.
There's like five different storylines going all at the same time.
So many people to, it's not like everyone's working together all the time.
It's like Captain America, Dr. Strange, this and this and this.
So it's like, it is very clam-set it, like the intergalactic stuff.
Marvel does great.
Marvel does this better than DC, I think.
It's just so, like I said,
your brain's going to feel like you ran a marathon,
but it's worth it because this is the springboard
for Secret Wars, which I don't know if we're going to do it,
but if we do a board club,
it might have to be two parts,
because that is so convoluted,
but so amazing at the same time.
Let's put it on the My Mom's Basement,
timeline now, like when they announced the big
timeline of Comic-Con and they were like
Infinity War, Part 2. We're putting Secret
Wars part one, part two, on the big
MMB timeline right now.
I love that. And guess what? That
episode will be able to be viewed in Infinity
Vision. I'm doing it, Bob. Yeah.
Available in Infinity Vision. I love it.
Yeah. Klim, do you feel like your brain ran
a marathon after this? Yeah, I watched
30 minutes on YouTube and my brain
fell like it ran a marathon. Also, so funny. I mean,
Glenn, we're talking about it yesterday doing the episode.
I said, oh, yeah, comics explained.
I'm looking at the videos.
I'm like, okay, they got one, 30 minutes, one, nine minutes, one, nine hours, four minutes.
It was nine hours.
Nine hours.
But in that one encompass all of the secret war story, like the whole Hickman's secret voice.
And they looped this into that.
But nine hours, four minutes.
Shout out the comics explained and his editor, if it's not him doing it himself, because I can't imagine exporting that file.
No, way.
That's insane.
I tweeted out.
Someone's like, oh, how do I read Secret Wars, right?
And I tweeted like this timeline of like suggested titles.
And someone is like, that's crazy.
Don't read all of those.
Like here's like 10 titles.
I'm like, you just, it's like we said, it would not be the same.
You need the story.
And also, the more you read, the better.
Just read.
Guys should read.
That sounds like secret battles versus secret wars.
There's two different.
No, those fights and a meal.
Yes.
That was like Clemer.
He was going to, he was like,
like, I'll save Infinity War and Endgame till we get to him in Super Critics, which is like two years
away. And he was going to go see Doomsday without having seen Infinity War and Endgame. And I was like,
no, because you're not going to give it a fair shot if you haven't seen those. That is quite crazy.
Took him to see Endgame. And guess what? That guy was pretty, pretty shocked. He almost never gives movies
four stars or above. It was like an instant four star movie for me. He was like,
Robbie, I got to be honest. It's pretty great. I know it's pretty great. It's the fucking highest
grossing movie of all time for a reason. People love it. Have you guys,
have you guys got to the Hulk, the Eric Banna Hulk yet? That's so funny enough in the context of
when this comes out of my mom's basement. That will be the next episode of Supercritic. We just
recorded it yesterday. I love that mixed bag. I forgot that a lot of that movie in the beginning is a
little bit boring, but then once the Hulk comes out, I like it. If I could spoil Supercritics a
little bit, he hated it. I was mixed bag on it. I loved it. I love that movie.
I like the casting a lot.
Sam Elliott's Thunderbolt, Ross, Nick Nulte, as his dad.
Eric Banner is a good Bruce Banner.
It's got good.
And even Jennifer Connolly is Betty.
She's good in it.
Good casting and good ideas.
I just think a lot.
It's two hours, 18 minutes, Jose.
I was like, this is the longest movie of all time.
Oh, we lost Clem.
He's out.
He got bored of the Hulk top.
As a Hulk fan, that is, I dreamed of a movie where they used Hulk's childhood
relationship with his father.
Really?
I dreamed of.
that as a kid because
I similar to what I said like
me and my friend would joke like imagine if
they did this and then they did it because
I always was under
the impression that you couldn't tell
Hulk without telling the story of how abusive
his father was but they would never do that
in a movie because it would be
it wouldn't be a popcorn movie
if they did a real Hulk movie
so we kind of discussed that
because I said like I looked it up
because I was like is the Hulk's father of this
big of his backstory? Read a
And I got the answer. Yes. It was like, yeah, he had definitely. I read like the first volume of a
Mortal Hulk. But even that, I was like, I know this came out after the 2003 movie. So I was like,
what is this pulling from? Yeah, it goes so far. Yeah, it goes so far back, man. I'm, so like as a
kid. I didn't realize how big a factor that was. But I did say to Clemer, I was like, I think
diehard Hulk fans probably like this interpretation of the Hulk more than the MCU one.
100%. It's not even a question. One thousand percent. Even the scenes where you get the Hulk looking at him in
the mirror like that dream sequence where he's like shaving and then the holt's looking at him in the
mirror and grabs him i was like that's right out of the comics i as a kid i was hyped levels
oh as as a kid i thought it was the greatest movie ever i had the holkins i had the green heresy
syrup that turned my poop green it was an issue i was afraid that like i was turning it to the
hulk myself but i already check that out on super critics next week i already put it away um
so i can't find it right now but when i went to sanio comic on the one i got
four autographs and the one that I was most excited for was I got Al Ewing to sign my
Immortal Hulk issue one and he's doing I think he's doing Green Lantern right now
absolute Green Lantern so he a lot of people were asking him to sign like the same like
big tiles happening now so when I showed up with absolute I mean Immortal Hulk he was like
very excited that's awesome most of them he was just signing and he was like he like sat down and
looked at this and he's like wow I haven't seen this in a minute
And then he's like, what's your name?
And he gave me like a personalized one.
Oh, that's so awesome.
And then he drew Hulk.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Because he's like, too Jose, thanks for everything.
And I was like, oh.
So good.
Unreal.
And then Jason Aaron, who wrote, who's doing.
Mighty Thor.
Yep.
And he's doing, I think he's doing, is he doing absolute Superman?
I don't remember.
Yeah.
But he is, he might actually be doing.
absolute justice league.
I was going to say, was he announced to do absolute justice at
it's either him or out of you.
I get them confused because they look very similar.
But everyone is getting him to sign like the same one or two like big things.
And I showed up with my copy of Scout.
Scout.
Yeah.
You know what?
You've told me about this.
Which is like, which is like imagine the Sopranos on an Indian reservation.
Oh my God.
And it's on.
And it's unreal, right?
Yeah.
I was like, he got, again, really excited because this is like a passion project for him.
And I was like, so my mom, super back story.
My mom used to work for the Native American Council in Rhode Island.
And my dad is a prosecutor.
So he works a lot with like crime and everything.
So it was like a sect of my life that like all three things in my life happened.
But I told him, it was like, oh, my mom used to work for the Native American Council.
And he's like, oh, I'll sign it for her.
And he's like, what's your name?
I'm like, Marda.
And then he signs it for my mom.
But my mom has never read this.
That's amazing.
You have a scalped comic signed for your mom.
And she's like,
and in my mind,
I'm like,
but it's for me.
But I was like so,
I was like,
whatever.
I was like whatever.
Yeah,
it's a nice thought for sure.
Yeah.
That's why I didn't stop.
That's almost like a Larry David,
dude.
That could be like a curfier enthusiasm.
Yeah,
that's a good point.
I don't know.
I feel like that's for me.
Exactly.
All right.
We lost Clem.
There was a,
there was a,
incursion and his world has gone away.
We'll be back next week with a Halloween special, also a little pre-recorded peek
behind the curtain, but Eddie's going to join us on that one, our favorite horror movie
fan at Barstool.
And I'll talk to you when I talk to you.
See you.
Congratulations, Robbie.
Thank you.
And Mrs. Fox.
