You're down here with your Kuatua friends, and you not only have a map of the undercity temple where there is treasure, but you have a map case that magically tells you a shortcut. Before we get to what's happening immediately and talking about, I want to do this, I want to do that. Can you guys remind me what you were trying to find with Mapcase? Were you trying to find the Big Bad or the Treasure? To what? A Good Route is the only thing the Map Case does. What were you trying to just, I think, a general good route?

Yeah, I'm not seeing where our characters are got it. Okay. Oh, yeah, yeah, a good route around the green stuff. That part did not come up. see the green stuff yet when you asked for a path. I want to say that you just said the best path to where we want to go and that it was subjective, but I'm giving

you a chance to clarify if you were hoping to find one specific thing. Well, if we find the weapon, right, is it weapon, Dan, or treasure? I'm not entirely clear. I thought we were going down here to kill the litch.

There is treasure down here. That was the original reason you bought this map. Right. I don't know. Got it. Unless the trigger ends up being a weapon that we could use against the litch. Doesn't, I mean... Why don't we all roll an insight check as we're frozen in time? Things are actually happening, so we can't get too into the physical movement yet,

That Shalab and Jafri are pretty Sure This map is guiding them Towards the most important Point of interest In the southwest corner of the map And that that is rather subjective, but it is the most powerful thing.

And if you look really closely at the map, it almost looks like there's a sort of coffin there. You're not sure what's in the coffin. But if you look at the map up to the top left, there are some secluded rooms. There's also, it looks like, a magic summoning chamber. There's things that look like that might be more of a treasure storage area, whereas the bottom left looks more like a position of power.

So I would suggest making a note this map seems to be guiding you towards the main point of interest that might be treacherous. And if there's something to be looted, they'll be in the northwest. So we're at the bottom of this round room, the south part of this round room, where there's a weak part in the wall that we're trying to knock through, right? Glue just turned in on. Is there, is there? And unfortunately, something is happening.

So you can ask a question, but then something is going to be spoken. allowed by me. I was going to say, is there any way that we could like repel from the ceiling or jump or crawl along the wall up to this other pink door on the west side and sort of avoid? That sounds like a good thing to ask me again when we are done dealing with what happened at the end of the last episode, which was shapes moving in the slime. Okay. Those shapes are not going to reveal themselves gigantic swamp root beings. rise up yeah exactly

rise up out of the slime everyone roll for initiative oh there you go how many are there you're about to find out 16 plus 4 20 nice my initiative

has been shit lately just like in real life 18 plus 2 fucking 9 what part of the map is it hell towards the center Right in the middle where that big round room is.

Okay. You'll see some larnsters. Dan, do you want to narrate what's going on? Yeah, I'm sorry. I've been busy hoping you would narrate jokes or something. Oh, yes. Okay. I will pause what I'm doing.

The trick is everybody rolls for initiative and then I'm rolling for initiative and then I'm moving tokens and I'm not ready for initiative. I'm sorry, this is like classic Dan stalling. But right now there are one, two, three, four, five, six gigantic green shapes rising out of the slime. And they're friendly, right?

Your Kuatola friends are getting ready to defend you. Can I... Wait till they recognize the skeleton fused to Ken's back. Waggle your fanny at him, Ken. Let them see. Waggle your fanny. What a statement. Gross. Do it all the time. Dan, would you say these are like green goo guys? Let's see.

Are they like ants? They are like of this bleak looking, organic plant that seems to be made of roots, fungus, strands of plant. Like swampy compost and detritus. Sort of like a swamp. Like swamp thing, fuck the mucinx guy. Yeah. A little less humanoid. There's your show.

Larger and less humanoid than Swamping. Very similar to Swamping and the sort of shape and look of it. When you say less humanoid, do you mean, I just want to understand that. Like, I mean not arms and legs and head, like not that humanoid shape? So I need to take some Adderall. But, yeah, like there's a head. like bump between these shoulder-like axes with these long arms and legs jutting out of what would be shoulders and hips. But the hips are narrow.

The torso is too wide. The head is not in any way egg-shaped or spherical. It is more like, if I may, a mound. Massive writhing mound. All right. So I'm trying to get everybody's initiative in here. Shalab, I believe, got a 20. Yes, I have to reload, but yes.

Like Henry Cavill, you reload your arms? So cool. Chris, how'd you get? I believe it's 16. Blaine, what did you get? Also, I got a 20. Cool. What's your decks, Blaine?

My dex is 18. Ken, what's your deck? What's your dex? 18. is 14. All right, so give a 0.1 bonus to Blaine since he has the higher decks.

Brian, what is your initiative? That was low 9, I think. Oh, right, that's right. The German. Yeah. So, now we're going to...

Chris, what is your decks? Twins' dexterity is 18. Right, yeah, that's much higher than these monsters. So you're going to be ahead of the monster that is same as you. We're going to start combat in just a moment. Brian, where do you think Spicoli would be?

We haven't moved his token in a while. Would you kind of be like in the room back by little peepers, you think? Where's little peepers? Oh, yeah. Where is my token? Oh, right. Okay. Back by the statue.

I do feel like you would have moved into the room with everybody. I'm just giving you a chance. Where's the what? Like that. Oh, you got it. There you go. That makes sense to me. I just wanted to make sure that when it was time for combat,

you could reach what you wanted to reach. Yeah. All right. Up first is Little Peepers. Little Peepers is going to try and climb up this wall as best he can. He is going to struggle a bit as it is. very knotted root. Blaine, you're up. Hey, Dan, can I ask a question?

These things, according to the map, are all huge? Or they're all large? They're all like 10 feet. Is that right? They are large. They are large. 10 feet. Yes.

Christ. Christian Christ. Blaine? I'm going to, whatever the closest one is to me, maybe this guy right in the middle that I'm pegging right there I'm going to

You're pegging? Yeah, it's his birthday. So I'm going to hit him with a firebolt. Sounds good. All right, so that is 21 to hit. It's a hit?

Sorry, my cat is attacking my dice in a playful fashion. Oh, 18 points. All right. It smacks into them. Can I get an insight check from you? Yes, I'm going to use just my regular passive insight, which is 20. It doesn't look like fire does a lot of damage on these guys.

Okay. Well, then I'll just go fuck myself. I mean, I would certainly solve the problem with combat. You'd be sort of forfeiting your life. I'm sure you want to do that? No, damn. No. You're going to roll over and just start fucking yourself?

I mean, that means a lot of different things, a lot of people. We should talk about the technical meaning of what you're doing right now. Semantics and dragons. Functionally, how are you fucking yourself? Yes, I'm still writing this bit that nobody is. Well, I said I was begging that guy, so I guess we could stop. My head's just in the gutter. A reverse peg.

Any bonus action or movement you'd like to incorporate, Blaine? I'm going to kind of step back as far as I can. Okay. And just brace myself. Ken, you're up. I'm going to cast Shiro. 40 foot cube,

Okay. 40 foot cube, I think can maybe get all of these guys. Yeah, I think it's like 45, so two and a half on two of them. So wisdom save, what was a DC again, friend?

17, please. So that's a fail success. Fail, fail, fail, fail, fail. Cool. So the ones that are a hit, their speed is halved. They take a minus two to their AC and dexterity saving throws.

Can't take reactions. It can take only an action or a bonus action. can't do both. Damn. One attack. They cast a spell. There's a 25% chance of spell fails.

And then there's a check at the end of every one of their turns, wisdom, to get out of it. To get out of it. And is this concentration? Yes. Got it. All right. How about you? Do you got a bonus action you want to use?

You ain't slowed. I don't. I am a one-action feller. Oh. I see. Minaga move. Chris, you're up. Let's see.

Ray of Frost. Yeah, I'm going to strum my guitar and fire Ray of Frost at the one who is not slowed. Got it. So that's going to be this guy up here. And that is a 24 to hit. Very much a hit. All that damn, damn. It does not great.

Seven points of frost damage. And then I'm going to use my... Chris, can I get an inside check when you're done? An insight check. 20. Get a feeling that frost damage doesn't do too well against these guys. I'll call that out to the group. Well, shit.

And then I'm going to... move. Brian's got a close-up with his glasses on his forehead and it just looks like Dilbert. Brian, do you have some things to say about today's? West conservative. Yeah. Movement-wise, I'm going to go one, two, three, four, five, six. Actually, can I go six there?

I can't tell if that's wall or... Yeah, you can kind of get around there. It's sort of a wall. You could get through there, yeah. And I will holler as I'm running towards all the fish fighters. I'm like, go get them! Okay. Up next we have three of these guys, the top one,

the non-slowed one, and the visco right here. So it's just going to, he's got half movement when they're slowed. Yes. So penalty is mostly to AC and saving throws And that's like downside of that But And dexterity saving throw yeah

Do they have to wear off any like paper crown or something Just to denote They've been slowed A dense cap Oh Burger King thing All right one of them Hits little peepers

twice. You can only attack once, I believe. Oh, I'm a ding-dong. He gets two attacks per action. And I forgot how you said that. Either an action or a bonus action, not both. Oh, so he can do two attacks. Or did it say something? I thought you said something

specifically about attacks. It can make only one attack if it takes the attack action. There you go. Thank you. That was the part that we were debating. So yeah, it's only going to be able to, It's kind of, like very slowly twist its semi-shoulder and smack him for 13 points of bludgeoning damage. Oh, can we mention that we don't take bludgeoning damage? Oh, cool. Yeah, we're just decided we're not taking bludgeoning damage.

There's a 12% surcharge. Yeah. We get everything for bludgeon master. That's great. It is, uh, Will Peeper's is now grappled. Next one is coming after Ken. It is not slowed. Uh-oh.

That's a critten of 24, 27 and 24. Cool. I wouldn't say cool, man. This is not good. Ken loves you indeed. 28 and then 17. Oh, dear. I'm down.

So, biff, biff. Well, already. Yep. Well, I came in injured. Sorry about that, Ken. Were you down after the first hit? Yeah. Okay.

Well, in that case, he is not going to be swinging the second time. He's going to be using engulf. That doesn't sound good. No. Oh, you know what? I wasn't down. Sorry, I wasn't down at the first. I was down to three after the first hit.

So he's not going to engulf you. Got it. Congratulations. And then this guy over here is going to try to move, but he's very pokey from the slow spell. Brian, you're up. Instead of throwing the javelin, can I kind of wield it as a weapon and stabby stab?

Absolutely. Okay. There should be a separate to hit. If you equip it, I think it'll show up as an action. Okay. Oh, shit. I didn't crit, but I got a 19 plus 7, 26. Nice.

The Atlantium javelin. This is the guy right in front of you who's attacking Ken. Yes, exactly. Correct. I'm going to fuck him up for cats. Roll that damage, man. Nine.

All right. Chunk. Takes a big chunk out of them. Plant, detritus splatters out from behind it as you pierce through its hide. Do you get multiple attacks per action? I don't know. You would think at our level, but I'm not sure where would it say that? I know. I always feel like wrote an action, and then I think they don't.

Yeah, if you go to actions, it'll say right at the top above your list of actions, it usually says. It does say attacks for action one. Oh, yeah, that's it. All right. Boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo. I'm just trying to see. Can I ask a question? Sorry. The thing about the adamantine javelin, it says whenever this weapon hits, the hit is a critical hit.

That's part of the reason it's an adamantine javelin. Oh, shit. Yeah. So what was the dice damage on that one? It was only nine. Oh, yeah, it was nine. So minus three is the bonus then, so six. So you'd add another six damage to that.

So 15? Yeah. Sweet, Jesus. It really comes through. Cool. Adam Antoine. Now, Brian, I don't know if you noticed, but you do have cunning action now as a rogue.

So if you wanted, you could use your bonus action to do a number of things, including disengage. You could disengage this guy and take a step back if you wanted to get out of melee range. No, I'm not that worried about it. Great. Okay.

Up next is the fish folk. Yeah. Go get them, guys. One. Yeah, they're all, they're all just more. As bravely as burbling fish folk can charge in

is going to cast destructive wave it's going to slide in here between Brian and Chris so it's going to be a con save oops we have clicked that twice Nope, it's gonna fail and so you know pretty hefty chunk of damage

5d6 thunder damage 17 points of thunder damage and then in addition to that 5d6 Radiant damage Nice who 21 so for a total of 38 points There's just this huge huge explosion that emanates out from his staff. It's going to nail the guy who is unslowed, as well as two behind him.

Your other Kuatua friends are going to start stabbing and firing. Stabbing and firing! Guys are so quiet today, I swear to guys. This is the quietest episode of Newfound. I didn't think so. What do you mean, Dan? My tinnitus says that this is one of the loudest games I've played in weeks. Every time I leave dead air, it's just like, oh.

Yeah, I'll do my tinnitus noise. Thank you. Oh, wait, why did I thank you? No, my blood, ears, canal. So is there three successes? More like sucks asses Yeah Go back to being quiet

is going to crit on one of the Kuatola, and you just see him get sucked up. The Kuatua gets sucked up into this just shambling mount. That's terrible. Hmm. The other one also gets

hit. So you see two of these guys just sort of like get pulled into the enemy's sort of formless green bodies. I'm going to upside down those two

Huatowa. Up next, these little peepers. Then when you say they're engulfed, are they still taking up their physical space? Or are they in the cubes with the guys? They're in the cubes with the guys. Okay.

And then can I ask you about this one? I don't get, they can't share space like that, right? Which one? This, this, Shambling mound is sort of sharing a space with this guy. Mm-hmm.

I don't rule-wise. You don't think they can do that, right? Okay. I'll back him up. Well, I'm checking with you, right? You did miss. I don't have the ability to argue that. That works for me.

That's fine. I pictured them sort of shambling over each other, but if the question is we can't do that, right? It's like, well, maybe not. I don't have time to look at the official ruling, and if the official ruling says, so then I defer to that. I apologize.

You're cheating again. I just, I just, I really want the rules to be right, and I'm, I'm demuring. I know I'm being a bit of a cuck this episode,

but, you guys, some episodes, Dan's just going through a breakup. He's the single one in the cast. He's easily distracted. by the topic of Zizi top songs and these things they happen.

But yes, that means they're done and it is little people's turn. And so he is going to try to stab at the guy who is trying to engulf him after trying to escape. People's crazy about a shamblein mouth. He does not escape. Blaine, you're up.

I'm going to throw a chromatic orb at this guy right here. Great. And I'm going to, that's a range to spell attack. So that's an 18 plus 7. So 25 to hit. Very much a hit. And I'm going to do acid damage. This says 3D8.

Great. There's one ringy dingy. Two ringy dingies. Six, ten, eight. So 18. It's a loud hissing sound as the acid orb smashes into the guy who is second from the bottom

right here. All right. Who is next? I believe it is Ken. does saving throw that's a success I will continue to lay here good job

I've been conferring with the rules Chris it does look like you're right and it is your turn oh okay cool I'm going to cast a healing word on my good friend Shalab the fish skeleton man

and And he's going to get about 13 hit points. Thank you. I have bad news, Shalab. Things have not changed. And then movement-wise, I'm going to... I'm going to at least get out of here so more of these fishmen can try and get up on the front line, I guess.

Okay. Yeah, that's it. Okie-dokey. So now we're going to go to one slowed and one non-slode. And I'm going to have to make a note of a couple of these because to try to make it more clear, I eliminated a couple of guys from the turn order and put them on map layer or roll 20. Whoops. And two theater nerds who loudly had a conversation, the entire movie, because they had seen the actual musical dozens of times. Couldn't care less about what was being said on screen. Oh, that sucks.

And somebody was singing during the movie. And they ignored me. That's the best part. They didn't, you know, I would have taken singing along to talking over the singing so I couldn't hear some of the words. I was like, I don't know what's happening. I've never seen Wicked. Oh, we did.

They had. That's, yeah, that was the impression that I got. But, but, but, but, but. So, yeah, these guys are going to try to smush the Kuatowa inside of them. Doing some giggles. Every day. You hear a couple of loud, crunching noises. And then two of them are going to advance.

What's the ecosystem? of these guys. How are there this many shambling mounds in this thing? It goes tadpoles, rats, shambling mounds,

comedy club bookers, lions. Oh shit, this person's got to be so many lions in here. Brian, you're up. I'm going to

stabby, stab, stab again. Cool, cool. I mean, these aren't the skills that Joffrey's really good at, but with this, Edmontium, javelin's. Yeah, javelin's pretty feisty. Every hits a crit, as Chris pointed out.

Uh, 21. Who, shit, bro. Very much hits. I like Chris saying, brough. Brian, are you hitting the one due in front of you? Eight. Uh, yeah. You should get, you.

Eight plus three, right? I think you'll get sneak attack off that as well, because it's a melee now with... It's flanked, yeah. Oh, okay, cool. So what does that add to it? Your sneak attack damage, whatever... Oh. Whatever that is.

Where would it say that? On your sheet, probably under features and... Sneak attack 5D6, you get. Oh, shit. Oh, my God. On top of the eight? Uh-huh. Oh, no.

What do we get 11? 5D6. Do you double sneak attack damage on a crit? Probably not, right? You double all dice. Oh, my God. So 26 doubled? So what's that?

Yeah, yeah. So that's what, 52 points on top of 11? Yeah. But with the 11, it's 4 plus 3. So that would be 7 doubled. So that would be 14 plus 4, 18. because it's a crazy and what was the other

die number? Fifty-two. 18 plus 50 so 70 points you just cut right through the guts of this thing, Brian.

How would you like to see this chambling mound die? I want him to he screams to the other guys it's not worth it. And then he just gets split up the middle.
