That's right. The one, the only, Neo is in the house. St. Melco, you get to me? That's crazy. I don't know how we keep getting these guys, but... Dude, it's insane. He is, uh, we're going to talk about his new movie Good Fortune coming up as well as him being
Starting point is 00:01:43 the best, nicest person of all time in Hollywood. Either way, um, yep, let's get into some new news. New news. In case you miss it, we dropped our episode with the Rock this Monday. Go check it. Matt, if you haven't seen it, do you have a favorite part of the episode, Trave? Man, just him talking about his favorite line that he ever, like him talking about, he's, you take that, you turn it sideways and shove it up your candy. Shave it right up your candy. It's so good, man.
Starting point is 00:02:12 That was a good part. That was a good part. And just hearing him talk about his family and how just humbly is, man, he's just the best. For those of you that missed it, it is out on the new Heights channel, YouTube and on Spotify, wherever you get your podcast. You can check that out. It's out. day. We're also this week going to be bringing back New Heights Film Club in honor of
Starting point is 00:02:32 Keanu. We will be revisiting the classic film, The Replacements. That is going to drop this Friday. So tune into that if you are as big of a fan of that film as we are. Or just like Keanu Reeves. The biggest piece of new news, New Heights might have an official tree. I'm sorry what? We are now being tagged in video anytime a 92% of sees a Japanese Maple. tree. Are we being tagged or is Jason being tagged? Jason is being tagged. Ooh, Lego. Lego? A Lego Japanese maple? I didn't know those existed.
Starting point is 00:03:09 They make Lego trees? Do they make Lego Redwoods? I think they only make Japanese maple, dude. You're always trying to rope me into your, this is you. I'm fine. Ornamental. I'm a good, everybody loves a good Japanese maple. Japanese maple. I'm going to get Wyatt this Lego set. Other than maybe like an ecologist. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:34 What's this link? We got a voicemail from somebody. Can we open this up, Brandon? Let's see what they're talking about. What we got? Hi. I'm calling on behalf of the larger community of 92 percenters who are wondering whether or not big Japanese maple has reached out to Jason about becoming the face of the industry.
Starting point is 00:03:53 It seems like a no-brainer to me. curious to know if he's getting, you know, fielding any offers from them. All right. Love you guys. Bye. Fielding any offers. I have not. I don't know that there is a big Japanese maple.
Starting point is 00:04:11 I don't think, I don't, I mean, maybe there is. I don't, I'm not aware of the people really pushing Japanese maple. I feel like that tree is not as pushed upon as some other ones these days. I don't know. Japanese maple so unique, though. What is it? Kylie loves them. What?
Starting point is 00:04:30 That they're not like a part of the big industry of agriculture. Yeah. It's horticulture, right? Or is it forestry? Arbery. Arbery. I don't know what fucking industry you're talking about. But no, nobody's reached out.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Kylie always loves a good Japanese maple, which is all I need. So. It's so good. Please continue to tag us in any and all trees that remind you of Jason. Yep. All right. That wraps up a little new news. Let's get it some bold topics to wrap up this week six in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Bold Topics is brought to you by Raising Cain's Chicken Fingers. Who doesn't love fucking chicken fingers in that Raising Cain sauce? I don't even know what it's called, but you know what I'm talking about. All right. Chiefs 30, Lion 17, Sunday night football. I'm ready for football Listen, this was a game that I think The entire country was looking forward to watching
Starting point is 00:05:30 Lions obviously started off the season A little sluggish against the Packers But they had been really kicking ass And taking names the last few weeks Facing off against the Chiefs Who had really started to find the rhythm Even though they lost the previous week That offense was turning around
Starting point is 00:05:44 Give us your thoughts, Travis. Initial thoughts on the game Four quarters of great football, man, all three phases It looked like in the second half they were shutting down the run and getting to the quarterback and we haven't had, you know, or at least a lot of people have been saying we haven't been able to get to the quarterback.
Starting point is 00:06:02 My guy Charles of Menehu gets in there, Chris Jones is getting after him. And it's just the DBs are all, you know, lockdown coverage where they need to be. And, you know, when the defense is playing like that and Pat Mahomes is out here, Texas Gunslinger just just shooting it all over the field, man. It's the best,
Starting point is 00:06:22 man. That's the best. And we were, we were rocking and rolling. I had a few big plays on special teams that, uh, they got us going. And, um, that's a, that's a tough Lions team. And I felt like we got, we got after them in the run game and in the past game. And, um, and guys were downfield blocking for each other, man. The energy right now in the building is electric, man. And, uh, it's some of the, one of the most fun teams I've ever been on. Yeah, that was, you know, watching it, you talk about all three phases competing and, and, and doing great for all four quarters. Because the defense was, Detroit came out running that thing.
Starting point is 00:06:56 They were doing a great job. They put together a great first drive. But you're right. The defense adjusted. They kept fighting. They freaking, nothing really came easy. And I think a lot of times the Lions get these big, huge explosive plays. And the defense tried to make them earn it the entire time.
Starting point is 00:07:11 And they had a couple big fourth down stops. They had the second half. It felt like they neutralized the running game a little bit better than they did in the first half. Nick Bolton mentioned potentially having some tips Like it felt like they kind of had a little I don't know if we should mention that Should we not mention that? It sounds like they were, yeah, it sounds like the
Starting point is 00:07:31 They had a good idea what was happening. Yeah, it sounds like the And that's the thing when you're with bags You got smart players, man. You're going to see these whatever they are, these little ticks or these certain things that an offense is doing where, you know, if they want to keep doing them,
Starting point is 00:07:49 we're going to be able to get ahead of them. Let's talk about the Chief's offense, because that was the thing that I think everybody had wanted to talk about through the first, what, three weeks of the season. And as of the last three weeks, the Chief's offense looks back, baby. You guys are doing everything well. And the one thing that I think stood out about this game in particular was the ability to run the football. It wasn't like a, it wasn't like a Rico Dowdell, like unbelievable running like day for the Chiefs. But it was a consistent, efficient threat that you guys. imposed your will i mean this is a team we talk about i mean
Starting point is 00:08:23 kneecap biting like bully tough nose team they were hitting and you guys took it right at it with them man it was a that first half i mean you guys are both running the ball really efficiently imposing your will on each other it was a physical game like i think the first half went by like in a flash yeah like before i know it the first quarter was over like it was nuts Yeah, that's got to feel good, right?
Starting point is 00:08:53 Yeah, you get rolling in, especially in the run game, man. It's just, it's like it just feeds those big guys up front. It just feeds them. It gets them going, gets them playing a little bit of tough. You know what I mean? You just start working some double teams, and they don't feel like they're just sitting on an island past pro. And, you know, you can, you can get these big 300 pounders on the attack and downhill and moving forward and getting after guys, trying to moralize them mentally and physically. And it's just like we got, we got our interior three playing so physical and so well together right now with Kingsley.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Kingsley's coming on, man. Yeah, exactly. And Tray Smith. And then on top of that, Juan Taylor's playing fucking outstanding. We had a huge. Dude, Jaylor Moore steps up, man. Jaylor more steps up and has a fucking awesome game. That's a big task, baby.
Starting point is 00:09:42 And he answered the bell, man. Hell yeah. And I just feel like when those guys up front are rolling like that. man, it just makes everybody play that much more confident. You know, Pat's not thinking as much about the line. You know, he's seeing the field so clear right now and getting the ball out quick. You stay out of situations that are hard to pick. Like, third and long is hard in the league. You know what I mean? Like, it was interesting because the previous two weeks, in really three weeks, you guys had started to really hit the big play down the field. And that's
Starting point is 00:10:11 one way to stress a defense. In this game, I mean, that really didn't happen. You took a couple shots but really the way you stressed him was by running right at them yeah right and then that got the play action going that got uh it got you in good situations where you could do the quick passes you got a bunch of them where it was like even before the snap like pat knew he was going to catch and deliver it right to you yeah and i just yeah and i think i think that's a huge you know you got to throw it to coach reed and matt naggy on the offensive side that are that are calling these plays and put these plays in to give us an opportunity just go out there and just play quick Yeah, play fast.
Starting point is 00:10:48 Make them feel the attention to detail and the alertness that we're playing with. And I think we're rolling like that and Pat's getting it to everybody right now. You know, everybody's getting a chance to have the football in their hands and everybody's satisfied and it's going to have to even be more of that now that we're getting Rashid coming back next week. But it's just so much fun when everybody's getting a piece of the pie, man. Yeah, man. Vives look like they're pretty darn good for the Chiefs. of a lot better than they were maybe three weeks ago or four weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:11:20 We got some stats, I guess, here. The Chiefs are one of just two teams to feature four players with 220 plus receiving yards this year. Travis Kelsey, Hollywood Brown, Tyquant Thorne, and Jujus, Ms. Huster, all over 220 yards. That's a very specific yardage. Travis, can you explain the edge? It is. Can you explain the edge motto? Everybody got to eat, baby.
Starting point is 00:11:43 EGE. Everybody got to eat. Okay. I think Rashid might have started that one. Nice. And it might have been a little, you know, sneak preview on what's going to come. Well, I mean, listen, Pat does it better than everybody. You, it's, so I'm watching this Atlanta game on Monday night.
Starting point is 00:11:59 And it's pretty much Drake London and Bejan Robinson. Like, listen, if you got those two guys, I'd probably just give them the ball, too. Like, I don't know what we're doing anything else for. But you look at a chief stat line. And every week, it feels like seven, eight, nine guys are in the reception category. And it's like, man, Pat is spreading that ball around. Not a lot of tendencies. checkdowns, you know what guys are getting first downs.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Guys, Noah Gray had a huge first down. Juju Smith-Schuster's, I think, had our longest play on a naked. Hollywood Browns running out of touchdown celebrations. My guys, they're fucking. I'm jumping in the stands. You already know. I only play it for one. No, man.
Starting point is 00:12:36 It's so good, man. I love it. Well, let's get the primetime trav. We talked about Bon or LeBron's stats. Trav passed a legend. Jason Witten in prime time receiving yards. Did you notice you're now second? You are second all-time and prime-time receiving yards.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Again, another very specific category. How's it feel to be the second all-time receiving yards for a tight-end leader in that category? It means a lot because I feel like I would love to see how many games Jason Witten played on prime time. He needs to play for the cowboys. The boys are always on prime time. They're getting primetime for sure. Since the beginning of his career, you know, to the end. Listen, you've had a lot of prime time games too. You're the fucking Kansas City Chiefs. You guys are on every, you've played on every day of the week other than Tuesday. Like, that's the only day you haven't played on, right? You're trying to see where American's team, Jason? I'm saying you've had
Starting point is 00:13:31 some prime time games. So don't act like you guys aren't getting opportunities. You've had some opportunities. Who am I second behind? You've got to be Tony, right? That's the only person that makes sense. But he didn't have a lot of prime time, did he? What were you trying to say? He was on the Chiefs when they weren't very good. The Chiefs, when Tony was there, not the same as Chiefs of recent. I don't know. The boys was cold and 03.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Who were we second behind? Do we got that, Brandon? I want to know who were you. Take a guess. Take a guess. Take a guess. Receiving stats. Who do you think?
Starting point is 00:13:58 Oh, it's only receiving. It's not tight end. It's just second. Receiving stats. Who do you think it is? Oh, Jerry Rice. There you go back. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Sorry. I thought it was just tight ends. All right. That's an easy answer. Thank you. So is receiving numbers. How far behind him? You've got to be miles.
Starting point is 00:14:13 49ers, they were in some prime time games. You're Miles behind you. Damn, and not miles. Well, let's get into the game. Trab, you had a bunch of catches. One of the better games you've had this year. Actually, probably the best game we've had this year.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Six receptions for 78 yards. I love a lot of these photos, man. Take a look at this photo where you're being held up by like five different Detroit Lions, four guys. Just look at your, did you look at your face in this? There's an age to this face right there in the middle. that is just no dude you know what this is you know what this is this is the first catch of the game and you know how you you're you're trying to finish i kind of i get hit by one guy i kind of slide
Starting point is 00:14:53 off of them and now i'm just like i'm getting pinballed but i'm keeping the feet moving and then i get held up then i get held up yeah exactly good ball security in a situation like that and then once i get held up the stampede is coming i think i'd locked eyes with tray smith about to come and clean the pile. And I was just like, brace yourself. I'm like, hit me, motherfucker. I love it. No, man, the big boys were finishing downfield, man,
Starting point is 00:15:24 and I was just bracing for it. Andy Reid was asked about your performance. He said, we've been giving Travis Kelsey a lot of, what is this, Jarotol? Is that like an aging thing? I don't know, man. Coach Reed's the best. He pulled one out from the, uh, this is probably,
Starting point is 00:15:38 what is Jarvisie? all. Yeah. It's got to be something with old people. I don't know. But it's like from like the 70s or something. What about this? How is your head feeling? You fucking did a headstand in the middle of the game. He caught me on, he caught me with a Charlie horse on my thigh. Yeah. Caught you in the jump. I got a, I got a Charlie horse more than I got anything going on with my neck. Listen, landing on your head was interesting. What the fuck were you doing reaching for the pylon after? Did you think you were not down? It's feeling stupid that I did it in the end zone. So I'm just like,
Starting point is 00:16:08 motherfucker man you had been down for like four seconds boom oh god damn it you're on the fucking one yard line get the goddamn end zone
Starting point is 00:16:25 stop jumping man favorite things of the game was that I just loved the reach of the end it looks even worse they did it in a slow motion on the broadcast that made it look even worse wow fuck it you're right there just god damn it get in the fucking zone Travis
Starting point is 00:16:43 oh shit that was funny that was too funny man um kingsy sumata took you out after the hollywood brown touchdown yeah that was that was fun uh kings is the man dude everybody who's just out there finish it downfield man listen when you're when you're in the end zone it doesn't matter what's going on man i love the way you fall on this too yeah i was just like fucking let's go man you get a little you get a little you get a A little extra shove on Kirby right there. Can we talk about the hurry up after the catch? Is this smart football?
Starting point is 00:17:15 I think it is. And I noticed it on the broadcast. Well, it's definitely smart football. And I kind of looked at Pat and I was like. So this is what I wanted to talk about because I saw you give like a very subtle, just like something with your finger. Whereas a lot of teams, they'll do like this big old, like this huge gesture. And that signals right away in the opposing coach, like,
Starting point is 00:17:36 hey, they're trying to get this snapped off because he doesn't think he caught it. A lot of times you'll see a challenge and get that instance. Do you guys talk about this? Do you try to make it subtle? Or is that something that you just did instinctually? When I caught the ball, I felt the ball hit the ground. And that doesn't mean I didn't have possession of it. Correct.
Starting point is 00:17:54 I'm saying like, it's in my hand, ball hits the ground. You know, it's like, okay, this is questionable. I don't know if they're going to try and like flat, like at least give this a chance. And now it's in, and now it's out of our. hands and it's in no question you know what I mean so I'm like in my mind I'm like it might be smart if we just did a quick you know what I mean it's the first down might be smart if we just get up here and I think everybody kind of felt the exact same way I'm not going to say I it was like we did it because I was like hey yo let's do it but I was even thinking what the coaches were thinking
Starting point is 00:18:27 on that usually the coaching point is if there's any doubt right like if you have to wonder like did I catch that or not you tell the guy in the booth don't even put it in the hurry up, get on the ball, especially if it's a first down, big play like that one was. It did make me realize, like, how much the rules of a catch have changed over, like, the last 10 to 15 years. Like, because I think by the old standards of a catch, this was absolutely not a catch. Because it used to not be able to touch the ground. Like, the moment it touched the ground, they would call it like, hey, that's trapping, not a catch.
Starting point is 00:19:00 But now you really don't lose possession. Like, your right hand slips off of it, but your left hand. and maintains full contact and the ball doesn't really roll. So, like, in my heart of hearts, do I think you maintain possession the entire way? I don't think so. But based on how we rule a new catch these days, I don't think this would have been overturned if it was reviewed anyways. And the official in the booth said the exact same thing.
Starting point is 00:19:27 Yeah. I think by the way, we were to determine to catch today's standards. I think that would have been upheld anyways. but smart decision by you regardless we also got you with the uh the dream shake as you're calling this was your this was your first catch of the game it wasn't the other one right i thought this is the first this is the first yeah yeah this one was was nice yeah it's i'm talking shit on the sideline to to the young guys and i know know nothing about 90s basketball because they weren't born until 2002.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Right. And I threw it out there. This, it wasn't as Hakeem, Elajuan dream shake in the post. You look exactly like you. It was definitely the guy behind me and give him a little shimmy for sure. I thought it looked exactly like. It was like I was watching Elijah on play football for a second.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Shut the fuck up. Look at that. Shout out to Kiji. Kevin Garnett also also had a little bit of this shake in his, in his post-up game. See, that was just me in high school, man. Give me the ball in the post. That's what I was saying.
Starting point is 00:20:35 They don't want to see me in the post with my back turn. I was talking to somebody on Monday night. I can't remember who it was, but they asked me, how does your brother feel that? And I'm like, I think he just takes a picture before he turns around, like where those guys are at in his head. And he knows timing-wise that they're going to be on him when he catches the ball. And he just takes that little jab step.
Starting point is 00:20:54 Like, what is your thought process? Like, what causes you? because you're not you obviously can't see them what causes you to be able to do that Jason I got eyes on the back of my head no you're not cam scataboo you don't have you know you can't see that well fields what I know exactly I look up at the jumbotron right before I catch it I don't buy it I'm not buying that could you imagine if I did there are guys that claim that but I don't buy that I've looked up at the jumbotron one time when I was running in the open field just to get caught yeah I can see that I can see that no you take a mental you like you said you kind
Starting point is 00:21:26 to just feel the game. I realized that, you know, who are the two closest guys to me, you know? Yeah. One was directly in front of me coming down to play me into the flat. And then there was one guy coming from the inside, inside out. And how am I going to get this ball? How am I going to get more yards? Who can I, how can I make these guys miss? Or how can I make one guy over pursuit? You know, and it's just, you play around with that in practice. Sometimes you get fucking smoked in a doesn't work and you got a five-yard gain. Sometimes you, you know what I mean? You make a guy miss. You guys run into each other and you're getting 10 yards. And it's just, it's just playing and feeling the game. And, um, yeah. Well, it worked in this game. It was a dirty little move
Starting point is 00:22:14 right there. Levery Haqueem, Alangeuanesque. We got some records with 1,032 catches. Travis now has the 12 most receptions in NFL history. We're on the LeBron stats right now. What are we doing? Can we name the other top 11 most catches in NFL history? Most catches in NFL history. So let's go tight ends first. So we got Jason Witten and Tony. Is Antonio Gates still above you in receptions?
Starting point is 00:22:39 Or is he not? I would assume he is, yes. So let's say those three, those are the three tight ends above you, right? Yeah. Then we got receivers. We got Jerry Rice, Randy Moss. I'm thinking Randy, right? It's got to be guys that played forever in the modern era.
Starting point is 00:22:56 So, Jerry. Larry Fitzgerald. What's, uh, Larry Fitzgerald. Julio Jones, Larry Fitz. Yeah. Had Julio? It's got to be somebody to play with Peyton.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Marvin or, uh, oh my gosh. Reggie, uh. Reggie Wayne or both of them. I feel like Marvin was there longer. Reggie had like that was, was pretty ridiculous. But Marvin was there. I feel like a long time.
Starting point is 00:23:21 I don't think it's either one. Terrell Owens. T.O.'s got to be up there, right? He's got to be. I'm giving you nothing. You're on this list by yourself at this point. Antonio Brown? Tim Brown?
Starting point is 00:23:35 No, Antonio didn't play long enough, I don't think. I feel like Tim Brown played for a long time, right? Yeah. Megatron didn't play a long time, but he might be up there. Now I just want to know. Who are we missing, Brinam? Jerry Rice, Larry Fitz, Tony, Merivine here. Yeah, Chris Carrner is one that we definitely should have got.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Tim Brown, we got Terrell Owens. Anquan Bolden. Damn. We said Andre Johnson, right? You said him? I think you did. No. No?
Starting point is 00:24:03 No. Fuck. That's one that we definitely should have got. We definitely should have got Andre Johnson. Let's go, man. I got Keenan Allen right there too, man. Let's fucking go. Now coming up.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Man, Julio Jones isn't nowhere near that. I thought he would be out there. I didn't think so, yeah. He played for a long time. He did. He did. Is the plus mean they're a Hall of Famer? What the fuck does this plus mean?
Starting point is 00:24:21 Yeah. Yep. All right. That's the answer is that. Um. Wood stats from Chase Snyder on Twitter. Travis Kelsey before the release of wood, four games, 15 catches, 188 yards at a touchdown. Travis Kelsey after release of wood, two games, 139 yards and one touchdown.
Starting point is 00:24:41 That's hilarious. I don't know why that's significant, but it's funny. Is this a LeBron stat? Patrick Mulhomes fastest to 300 combined touchdowns? Yes. Whenever you have to put a parameter on like the fastest 2x. or like, that means you just made up an arbitrary number just to make him have a stat. Like, it's, I don't know what the, that's the definition of a LeBron's stat.
Starting point is 00:25:06 Like, when you have to make up a statistic that nobody would ever say the fastest to 300 combined TDs. The only reason this is being made is that for somebody to have a talking point about the greatness of Patrick Holmes. We don't need this staff, but congrats pat. Let's go. Anything else from the game that you want to talk. about I don't think of anything else especially no I mean nothing happened after the game of
Starting point is 00:25:32 note right no I can't think of anything I will I'll say this and you can tell me if you want to take it out or not I think that the game is a heated game emotions get flared up it's a physical game you never wanted to get to that level especially when the game's already over but like you know at the end of the day the NFL take care of the fines and suspension and all that stuff like it is a game of emotion it's a game of physicality it's a game of passion and i don't want to i don't really overthink this i think dan campbell handled it well in his press conference you know i think everybody uh has handled it well i don't think it less of anybody i damn sure don't and you know sometimes these things happen in this is sport because
Starting point is 00:26:19 of how physical and aggressive it is doesn't make it yeah you know what i mean so i don't want to overdue any type of statement. I don't even know if we should put that out there. But regardless, next week, the Chiefs have a in-division opponent. We got little Chiefs Raiders' action. Raiders' week, baby. Let's go. Fire me up, man.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Gargone. And it's return for somebody you guys have been long awaiting and anticipating as players and his fans. Rishie Rice will be back in the lineup officially. I'm just happy to get my guy back out there, man. you can put this shit in the fucking past. Rishi is such a good dude, man. When all this happened, you know, I gave him a shout and let him know, man.
Starting point is 00:27:02 Listen, we know who you are as a person. Don't let the world, you know, drag you through and make you feel like you're any less of that. And he's one of my favorite people that and one of my favorite teammates I've ever had in the building because of how he attacks the day, how he lives his life, his generosity and his work ethic and how much fun he has. playing this game. And I'm just, I'm excited for him to get back to what he, he loves to do the most, and that's play football. Listen, everybody makes mistakes. This was a big one.
Starting point is 00:27:33 And, you know, he served his punishment for it. And, you know, you got to just move on. That's the only way you can approach it. You know what I mean? And we're about to get, we're about to get the most ferocious version of Rishi Rice, man. I cannot fucking wait. This guy has been sitting in meetings, listening to plays being dialed up.
Starting point is 00:27:51 And I just know he's ready to get in on the action. with this man and he's one of the best like energy guys on the field he plays with passion he plays with physicality you can have him you know block in the run game you can have him when he gets the ball in his hands he's finishing he's running through arm tackles and it's just uh he's such a vital piece to have outside of just being a great receiver man and um i can't wait to get back out there and rocking with him man and it's interesting he's coming back you know i think when I was thinking about him coming back like three weeks because he can't just be back
Starting point is 00:28:25 and I don't think it can just be the Rishi Rice show like as good as he is I don't think it can be that that's not just going to be the fix but now with the way you guys are rolling and some of the players that have emerged between Tyquan Thornt and you're getting the run game going you know Juju Smith-Schuster adds a lot to the game
Starting point is 00:28:40 I really do think like in the run game and all these little things man he is an underrated piece he really is man I know there's that picture of my guy going around but it's a little bit it's Listen, he's an agitator, for sure. And he gets after people in a lot of different phases. Rashid coming in there is, he's coming in at the right time, man.
Starting point is 00:29:00 It feels like a lot of things are clicking. Were these back? You got the razzle-dazzle plays back in the lineup. And now you're going to have this, you know, premier guy brought back into the building. Oh, yeah. It just feels like everything is clicking right now with the Chiefs. I can't wait to watch next week and see what it looks like. So good luck to you, brother.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Thank you to our partner, WhatsApp. Let me tell you something. These group chats, they can be a little bit overwhelming, can't that? Man, sometimes you get a message at like 6 a.m. And it's like, hey, important update about the team meeting, but you never get it because it's buried under a bunch of other texts. Or a player's meeting an update, but yeah. And then someone is like, oh, which meeting?
Starting point is 00:29:42 Well, another guy is sending GIFs. And suddenly you've got 47 unread messages. is OMG. Yeah, that's why people are loving pinned messages on WhatsApp. That's right. You can pin a message. The most important message then gets pinned to the feed, and that's the one you get to read because that's the important one.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Love it. Okay. You can pin the important message right at the top where everyone can see it. That sounds really cool. No more scrolling through a sea of memes and okay messages to find the crucial info. Just pin it and boom. Meeting details are front and center. Yeah, and it's depending on which.
Starting point is 00:30:18 like group chat you're in like some of those memes could be really good but when you're just trying to get like the information and the good stuff man this is uh it comes pretty uh pretty in handy and uh what's the most chaotic group chat you're in right now jason probably the one with me you craig and that's the most chaotic man you got a i'm not a big group chat guy i got a few i got so many you're better at keeping in touch of people i'm notorious now that i'm using WhatsApp i'll be better moving forward there you go what's app is the real MVP of group chat So stop drowning in message overload. Organize your teams into different group chats
Starting point is 00:30:51 and pin those crucial updates right at the top. With up to three pinned messages per chat, everyone can stay up to speed. All righty. It's time for WhatsApp. Download WhatsApp now and get to pinning. Big thanks for our partner, Reesies, and everyone's favorite Halloween candy, that's right.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Recy's pumpkins so much better than regular Reese's. I don't know why. Sorry, Reese's. I said your name wrong. The pumpkins though. I'm a big fan of the holiday editions. There's more peanut butter to the ratio, and I like that. The perfect amount of peanut butter makes the Halloween perfect candy pumpkin.
Starting point is 00:31:25 And I'm going to let everyone in on this little secret. What's that? You don't even need to be in a costume. You don't even need to dress up to eat Reese's pumpkins either. You're just going to go buy them from the store? You know it. I mean, I respect it. But if you do, pro tip, pockets to hold the Reese's.
Starting point is 00:31:43 Nice. And keep your mouth uncovered for easy Reese's delivery. Nice. Yeah. I mean, you, you got to have costumes with pockets for, for candy specifically. It's the candy season. If you're not, if you don't have a costume with a pocket in it or a pants with pocket in it. Yeah, what are we talking about? What are we talking about pockets? You got buckets. Where is Halloween? We're not putting candy in pockets. We're not. We got buckets. We got knapsacks. We got pillowcases. Fanny packs. Nice. It really are Halloween's perfect candy treat, man. Enjoy Reese's pumpkins now found wherever you can. fine candy. Thank you to our partner, Raisin Cains.
Starting point is 00:32:23 How about it? You know what's amazing about Raising Cains? What's that, Travis? Not just their incredible food, but the guy who started at all. My God, Todd Graves. You do actually know Todd Graves? Yeah, I know Todd real well. Over the years, he's become such a great supporter of everything we do,
Starting point is 00:32:37 my Foundation 87 and Running Pats Foundation, 15 of the Mahomes. Yeah, didn't they just step up and do a bunch of stuff with Kelsey Car Jam? Oh, yeah, they really did. And the Kane's food truck was there. bring up those perfect chicken fingers with that sauce and the, can't forget that Texas toast. I love that. Come on now.
Starting point is 00:32:53 Texas toast. And Todd and Raising Cains donated $125,000 to 87 or running my foundation. And it's going to help out a lot here in the Kansas City community and up there in Cleveland Heights, baby. And he also was working with Tideon, you as well, right? Come on now. It's all of it, baby. He's in on, he's in on everything we're doing it. He really is, man.
Starting point is 00:33:13 And he's doing an amazing job with Raising Cains and all the communities that they're in, and Ty came out a few times, actually, to speak to the tight ends, sharing the entrepreneurial journey. He's awesome on sharing his story, and he's got a hell of a story out of Louisiana and just a genuine guy who built something special, man. Yeah, man. Sounds like this guy likes two things, giving his money away and frying up chickens. All right now.
Starting point is 00:33:38 Speaking of special, how about those chicken fingers? How about them, baby? Perfectly crispy on the outside and sweet and juicy on the inside. Mmm. I love them. You have to get extra cane sauce, man. That cane sauce is more of the kind, as you know. That's non-negotiable. Well, the whole meal is perfect.
Starting point is 00:33:57 Those crinkle-cut fries, the Texas toast. I usually swap out for some cold sloths sometimes if I'm feeling a little bit frisky. Ooh, that's a classic move right there. That man's done this before. Add an ice cold, sweet tea or lemonade, and you're in business. Don't wait another day to try the best chicken fingers in the game. Raising Cains is waiting for you. let's get to the rest of week six let's do it big dog some of the other big
Starting point is 00:34:21 stories around the league starting with the eagles baby it's a tough one man oh do we have to i'm sorry i'm just upset that now we have to talk about that eagles game listen jason we don't all right we're skipping it no eagles talk yeah they're in fucking time out no get your shit together we'll talk about you on the show god damn it all right here we go you got scatabood we got darted you got darted is hilarious all right some of the uh other big stories from around the league starting with the Eagles, man. The Eagles had a tough one. Tough in-division game.
Starting point is 00:34:52 Giants 34, Eagles 17. Jason, what's going on with the birds, man? You know, I think a short week, they obviously came off a tough loss to Denver. And a lot of the narrative had been, you know, the offense needs to get it going and get it fixed. They've been prone to a lot of the three-and-outs. I think the league-leading percentage of three-and-outs and the offense is just at some time. it's really clicking and for halves we're putting together great halves and then other halves it just feels like it's either all or nothing it feels like you know what I mean and it's a frustrating thing
Starting point is 00:35:25 to watch uh you know you you need that consistency and they these they know it they're and they're they're out there trying to fix it but yeah the short week um you know i'm not going to lie going up against new york you know they're missing neighbors went down a couple weeks ago with an ACL injury, Slayton's out for the game, they're missing their two best, you know, options from a quarterback standpoint. And I thought the Eagles defense, and they would put up a much better performance, and I could not be more wrong. I didn't think that they were going to do, the Giants were going to do much offensively. I did not think Dart was going to be able to throw the ball the way he did. And I thought being one-dimensional against the Eagles is going to be hard.
Starting point is 00:36:09 And they weren't one-dimensional. Dart threw the ball very well. Now, the Eagles were missing Jalen Carter, you know, Quinyan went down early and, you know, it's just the coverage wasn't great. They were good at stopping the run in the first half, but eventually that everything just snowballed. And it was a, it was a tough game to watch as an Eagles fan and a guy that is, you know, it was such a big proponent for that team and those players in there. And, you know, they, they didn't play well. That's the reality of it. They got, not only than they not play well, but one of the things that was frustrating was just like, you know, the energy difference, if I'm being honest.
Starting point is 00:36:49 The Giants. It's crazy how much that energy means everything. How are we showing up to the ballpark today, man? Stout says this a lot. Execution fuels emotion. And I know this as a player and you know this. Like when it's not going well, it's hard to have that. Mind it, man.
Starting point is 00:37:05 You got to find it. Exactly. And that's what I think right now with that game, and part of it's the way it unfolded, right? like the Giants were playing better, the Eagles were not playing well in a lot of phases, and they were getting frustrated as the game went. So, of course, the energy is going to be different. But I just, you know, Jackson Dart and Camp Scataboo, these guys right now are playing with this young, youthful enthusiasm that's excited to be realizing their dream in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:37:33 They're out there, and you can feel the energy and emotion and passion with them. And it's rubbing off on the whole team. I mean, Jackson Dart goes into the blue tent. And people are going in there to try and get him out. They're like, fuck, no, you're not concussed. You can't quit on us. And it's just like, man, it was, it was amazing, honestly, watching that. And how many more tests do you got to keep running?
Starting point is 00:37:56 Can he count the 10? Yes. Is he seeing double or is he following the finger? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Does he know we're in New Jersey? How's his balance on his right leg? We don't need the left. We only need the right.
Starting point is 00:38:10 So, I mean. I think, and a lot of it comes down to the expectations, right? Like, the Giants, I think they're one and four coming into this game. Yeah. They're starting, like, a rookie. They're playing two rookies at two meaningful positions. Like, the expectations for the Giants are not great. As long as they're performing well, it's like, hey, these guys are balling out.
Starting point is 00:38:31 The expectations for the Eagles are, I mean, it's Super Bowl or nothing. Like, if we don't go back there, it's a letdown as far as, like, the fan base and people are concerned. I think that's the reality of it. And right now they're falling short, and that is a frustrating thing. As a player, you want it to go well. Still early, but I hear you. Right now where the team is. Right now, they're not playing up to what they need to.
Starting point is 00:38:51 And there's a lot of season left, and I got a ton of confidence that these guys are going to come now, especially after having a loss like that, with a rejuvenated energy. I think that, you know, I think the Eagles have got to get back to playing with that energy, to getting things going, and I know they've been hard at work. They've had the mini-buy now to refocus a lot of this. You're hearing the coaches feel like they are. I feel like the offense, a lot of have been made about Kevin Petulow. I know that Eagles fans are going to like it.
Starting point is 00:39:22 I feel like it is getting better. I feel like you're seeing some either more creative things. I think you're seeing them get to Sequin in a better way, even though it's still not being executed perfectly. And I anticipate that to continue to improve as the season keeps going. defensively, getting Quinyan and Jalen Carter back will be huge. And I got to think Vic Fangio, one of the best coaches in the NFL, is going to get those guys right moving forward. So, yeah, it was a frustrating game to watch.
Starting point is 00:39:53 It was a frustrating game to watch as a fan and as a former teammate to a lot of these guys because you know where they've been. You know what they're going through in these moments. And it's, you know, but at the same time, you know, this is where great players are made man it ain't when shit's going right it isn't when the whole world's telling you how great you are it's you know how do you respond when everything's against you how do you respond as a teammate when everybody's trying to separate you that's the biggest thing man that's the biggest you can't let people fucking peel you apart man and this is something you know so well you guys have just been through this earlier in the season right you've been through it
Starting point is 00:40:29 for a whole off season you guys dealt with a bunch of this through the off season with the way the shoot bowl went through the first couple weeks of the season and now every Everybody's back on top of the Chiefs Bandwagon, right? This is when great teams, great players, and great leaders are tested when you're going through stuff like this. And I look forward to seeing how they respond. That's the reality of it. Brandon had put a question on here.
Starting point is 00:40:50 I'm assuming Brandon did this. Yeah, you never know. Is it easier to play with no expectations? I feel like I've always had the most expectations on myself. That's a great way to put it. always put that Super Bowl or fucking nothing on myself. I've always put that. I have to be the best player in the world for my teammate or I fucking, I need to find a way
Starting point is 00:41:18 to get better. In terms of the scrutiny of the expectations from the world, I think it, when I, when, when you first get into the league and you're kind of just, you're, what is it? You're living life and you're flying by the seat of your pants, I think is the phrase. Yeah. When you're just, when you're having fun being in the NFL for the first time, getting wins, being on top of the world, getting recognized for that. I think that is such a, an easy feel because you don't know what's coming.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Because the NFL is going to catch on to what you're doing and you're going to have to make adjustments. I think there is a bit of, yeah, it's easy to do it once. Yeah. In a sense, it's not easy to win in the fucking NFL. Yeah. I'm not saying that. Well, that's the bigger thing. Yeah. But yeah, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:42:06 In terms of getting those first wins, I think that's more, that's the easier task than to continue to stack wins, stack seasons, and meet those expectations than it is to exceed, you know, maybe some expectations that you suffer yourself when you haven't been in that boat. You touched on two things that I think I really love. One being the best players are internally motivated. Yeah. Like, if you're finding motivation.
Starting point is 00:42:35 motivation from the exterior fan bases, making noise, whatever it is, you're never going to be one of the best players in the world. That's just not the way it works. The best players in the world want to be the best players in the world, and they can't live without being the best players. Like, that's how they fucking operate mentally. That's just the reality of it. You're the hardest person on yourself than anybody else can throw it down on top of you.
Starting point is 00:42:57 But I also think that is it easier to play with no expectations or is it? I think part of this is a little bit of a fallacy where, like, it's easy for anybody to put one great season together, right? It's not easy to have one great season, but it's easier to do one great season than to continually repeat on that great season, whether it's as a team or as a player. Sustained excellence in the highest level of any profession is incredibly fucking hard. You have to, it's incredibly hard to continually find new ways to have success
Starting point is 00:43:34 after everybody is trying to beat you in the NFL. And the expectations only come once you climb the mountaintop, once you become a great player. So, of course, it's harder once those expectations are out there to repeat because it's harder to have sustained excellence than just have a one-off fluke season or a few games. Yeah. I don't know that it's a fair question.
Starting point is 00:43:56 Yeah, I hear you on that. Like it's easier when there's no expectations because nobody is saying anything. You don't have that on top of yourself. Yes, that's true. but I don't know that it becomes actually harder because of the expectations. I just think, you know, it's harder to keep rolling the dice and fucking hitting sevens every single time. Like eventually you're going to fucking hit a, right?
Starting point is 00:44:19 A harder to hit a six. Yeah. It's harder to roll the dice and continually hit the point, right? Eventually you're going to hit a seven, right? The sustained excellence aspect of the NFL or any top of your field is extremely hard. And it takes a dedicated work ethic and a great team and great leadership to continually come back to the table and win. And all of you guys out there that just heard Jason give a fucking great speech about don't give up on the craps table. That doesn't mean go out and gamble tonight.
Starting point is 00:44:52 No, go gamble. Go have some fun. Just do it responsibly. Yeah. I mean, it's harder from an outside noise thing with the expectations. But I don't know, man. Fuck expectations. I'm just trying to fucking win the right and win the day.
Starting point is 00:45:07 I'm trying to fucking, I'm trying to block outside zone right here and fucking reach this nose guard. That's my expectation. Yeah. I focused on this other bullshit. Literally. A rough day for Philly last Thursday. Obviously the Eagles lost to the Giants, but the Phillies got, damn it.
Starting point is 00:45:25 Got knocked out of the playoffs, man. Extra endings. Cities in history to have their NHL team lose, NFL team lose. NFL team lose and MLB team lose in the playoffs and be eliminated all on the same day. Yeah, only been done twice and both times it's been done before. Oh, no, it's both Philly? Fuck. Philly last Thursday and then Philly also on October 16th, 1983.
Starting point is 00:45:50 Only two times this happened in history, according to Greg Harvey, which we will take his word as gospel because that's what we do in these days. What a time to be. Yeah, I mean, there was something else in here. You guys must have deleted it, but, like, was Detroit's day of, like, the Lions? What was it, Brandon? You had it in there. Lions.
Starting point is 00:46:14 Lions. Michigan. Yeah. And who else? And Tigers. And Tigers, which tells me you know nothing about Detroit. Because Detroit is way more riding with Michigan State, you fucking dumbass! No, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:46:29 This is definitely a Spartan city. What? That's fine. These fucking wine drinkers from Ann Arbor. No, fucking Detroit is riding with Michigan State. I would like to apologize to city of Detroit. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:46:41 I'll wear that one. That's on me. That's my fault. Sorry, guys. Sorry about your tigers. My bad. Do we want to keep hitting on this game?
Starting point is 00:46:50 I mean, this picture is fucking icon. I mean, just two fucking lovable idiots. I just think it's... That's the best, man. I fucking love this shit, man. This is fucking, God damn it, man.
Starting point is 00:47:06 This shit gives me fucking life, man. Listen, man, I think these dudes just love some ball, man. That's what it comes down to, like. They just fucking love some football, man. And they love each other. They love the team that they're on. They play with high vibes. Man, they're playing their tail off, Jackson Darts.
Starting point is 00:47:21 Doesn't look like the biggest guy. I mean, on the field with him, he's not a small dude. No, he's not. The style of football that he's playing where he's putting his head down and he's trying to run through grown-ass men the NFL like this guy just fucking wants to get every single yard for his team you know what I mean and I agree I think when I was doing the exact same thing with every fucking rush that he gets he's he's he's he's looking for contact on runs and it's like what that does to like your team
Starting point is 00:47:51 when you have success man it just it makes you it builds you man it just gives you the juice man when this when this whole first thing started happening I was kind of a I don't know if I was being a able to yeah we'll see where this this energy is going like I don't know but I got to hand it to a man can we zoom in on this photo look at this fucking you can't deny how the whole team has responded to this energy like they are all playing and like it's infectious and the entire team has been energized look at this fucking the face it's so good man this is the type of energy that like football like just guys that love fucking playing ball come old bear they're
Starting point is 00:48:35 excited to do dumb shit like i'm gonna go run through that fucking brick wall who's man enough to do it who's not who's what i don't give a what front was it what uh what coverage was it what did the linebacker do a coach i just fucking ran straight as fast as hard as hard as i could and didn't stop moving my feet that's a fucking mentality that a lot of the NFL is missing right now and they they lost it when they kind of got rid of four bullbacks a little bit. And that's the kind of attitude this guy's brain. There's a great clip of, I think it was DeMario Davis, giving this kid flowers and like, kind of like, you know, saying like, dude, this guy's for real. Like he, I fuck with him just because there's no back down.
Starting point is 00:49:13 There's no quit. And you need a guy like that. Every team needs that, like the replacements. We talk about it with, uh, with Keanu, like, you know, the fucking middle linebacker, right? Like everybody needs that guy that's like, yeah, you're going to ask. me to do something really stupid I don't give a fuck I'm willing to go do this dumbass thing just with relentless energy and I'm going to fucking attack everything in front of me like yeah that's what fullback was that's what every team needs like a guy like that and everybody loves that guy especially when there's an energy I don't know why dude this guy reminds me a little bit of Ezekiel Elliott like I there's like an enthusiasm and
Starting point is 00:49:52 an energy about them yeah that is just it's fun to watch and um too I I I I hope they lose every game as an Eagles fan, but I also kind of love watching it. You got to say it. Like, it's what it is what it is. You know, what it's going to do is going to make me, you know, when Sunday at noon or 1 o'clock Eastern time, like whenever that time comes around, it's like, man, let me see what the Giants got going on today. Like they fucking make me want to watch the Giants because of how fun they, because of the energy
Starting point is 00:50:24 they got, man. It's a mentality that is oftentimes missed in today's NFL. It's hard to find high level talented players that do not give a fuck if they're about to fucking K-O themselves. Yeah. They're going to fucking keep doing that. It's mental, mental toughness and... Hey, sports science says it's not smart to run full speed into the middle linebacker
Starting point is 00:50:44 with your head down. Yeah? We'll fucking watch this motherfucker. Take your science. You want to see something cool? You can take your science, turn his sideways, bend around and shove it right. up your candy of ass! Cam Scandibu's coming right up that thing, baby.
Starting point is 00:51:06 Oh, man, that was gold. Thank you. I love everything about it. I really do. Oh, zero filter, man. You got to have a psycho. You got to have a psycho, man. You got to have a one or two or three or four.
Starting point is 00:51:16 You got to have a few, man. Those meathead just like, don't give a fuck what they're doing. No, and having fun doing it. Johnny Knoxville with shoulder pads on, just willing to fuck himself up for the team. Yeah, quotes from teammates are hysterical. He's genuinely an idiot from a gunner. I don't even know how to fucking say this Polish-ass name. Gunnar-Ois-Zuski.
Starting point is 00:51:41 What the fuck am I doing, Brandon? I don't know what this fucking name is. I love how Brandon got that stray. I'll put it in here if we can. He's genuinely an idiot. Love that. Jackson Dart, the first time we met, we said three words. each other just headbutted each other they're just the bash bros this is just a reincarnation
Starting point is 00:52:04 of the bash bros and that's why the bass bros were so that's why the ducks were so fucking good zero filter first time at a special team's meeting he asks what's our job our job is to play with speed get off the ball and then this animal just goes physicality and it just made and it just made no sense no it made all but it does that's the thing it makes all the sins don't let all these Dexas and O is getting away of the fact that what's Marshaun, let's say, hey, that's my favorite interview of all time. Not too many people can take someone to run through their face over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over after he says that, the guy says, is there something more
Starting point is 00:52:44 symbolic in that? And he says, run through a motherfucker face. No, motherfucker. There ain't a metaphor. There's no fucking simile happen. There ain't a pun. you fucking me and your goddamn chest and I'll put in a hole in that motherfucker that's what the fucking science is dude you're getting me fired up
Starting point is 00:53:02 god damn that shit's gold uh all right rest of the league dolphins suck god damn it man they might be cooked man I just even the like the Mike McDaniel's like press break the day those press conference is just like he knows they're cooked like there's like zero there's like zero hope happening right now with the dolphins I just just don't even know what to take of them. And it's, you watch the tape and there's still like creative stuff being designed. Like, it just feels like they are, they are searching, man. The line is struggling to block a lot of that stuff.
Starting point is 00:53:41 You know, it's, I haven't been able to catch them, uh, playing as much. I just see the demeanor after games. I'm just like, man, that's, they're in a tough spot. The demeanor's bad. And like, even not even just after games to a tug of a lot. Loa was telling the reporters that Dolphins players have been late and or skipping players only meetings in recent weeks.
Starting point is 00:54:01 What's a players only mean if the players are showing up? Like is that just the janitor's in there just he's the only one in the players meeting. Like what the fuck are we doing? How did that even, how does that even happen? Typically the players only meeting happens after like a team meeting or something.
Starting point is 00:54:16 Hey, everybody, we're just going to stay in here and talk. Like how many players only meetings are these guys schedule it? Do you know, I'm so confused that like how this is like a thing like, Well, we had the players only meeting Tuesday and everybody shut up. And then the one on Wednesday, like... Yeah, they should have used WhatsApp.
Starting point is 00:54:31 It got all on the same page. We got our RSVP in there. That's the problem. What guys were going to come? It's all about communication, guys. They're SMSing. They need to get the WhatsApp. You can use that across all your devices.
Starting point is 00:54:43 No excuse to miss the WhatsApp. Players missing the players only meetings. It's fucking hilarious to me. Oh, damn it, man. I fucking love to him, man. He's a good dude, man. He's a great dude. And he's a tough situation.
Starting point is 00:54:53 Wow. Like, it's like, it's just not good. Football nightmares. Trent Williams shared, he has nightmares about showing up late to games. I get one frequently, oversleeping a game, pulling up at halftime, waking up in a sweat. I mean. That's interesting. Have you ever had a late to a game nightmare? Nightmare? No. Just like a real life. He said he's a dream? I was living that dream, dude. Reality. Yeah, yeah, my reality is fucking being late and sweating on my way to the fucking stadium. I can't say I ever had this nightmare. Is it bad? Like, I don't remember my dreams.
Starting point is 00:55:34 I think it's a Kelsey thing. Is that a Kelsey thing? Like, I don't, I couldn't tell you the last dream I remember having. Do you remember waking up, dad? How funny is it to wake up? We need to get that on camera and show the world. What is like to wake up? Like, every time you catch Ed Kelsey sleeping and you nudge him, he wakes up like he wakes up like he
Starting point is 00:55:51 wakes up like he is falling out of the sky. I just like, what the fuck is going on in your dream that you can't just wake up gracefully? I just don't understand it. Like, he is a deep sleeper. Dude. We got to catch this on camera. Because I don't think I've ever caught anybody else waking up like that routinely.
Starting point is 00:56:08 I used to add to it and like try and like fucking scream or something when I was a kid. I was just a torture dad when you sleep on the couch, man. Fuck. Like, was he doing it just to try and, it felt like he's like trying to scare us. Like he was like, oh, don't do this. he might have that's a that sounds like a deep sleeper jets update still winless uh an amazing stat just a field's negative 10 yards passing fewest in franchise history fewest in the NFL since the bears had a minus 20 game against the lions in 1981 um things got so bad kurt warner started
Starting point is 00:56:46 tweeting while he was announcing the game oh no he's announcing the game he's announcing the game and he's hilarious somebody please explain that last jets tribe not really sure what i just watched i just like he's watching it like i need some help here guys i got to crowdsource this i don't know what to even say anymore yeah jets jake can we get some like we got to bring you on jets jake our our local jets expert uh jets jake also uh social media expert extraordinary Jake um what's going all with the jets what from your expert NFL perspective what do you think is happening. The defense was really bad at first. Then the defense got better. Now the offense can't do anything. It's, it's all really bad. Garrett Wilson's hurt now. He was like the only bright
Starting point is 00:57:32 spot on the offense. They were running the ball pretty good. Yeah, offense flam was playing pretty good. They had, I mean, running the ball was the only thing that they could do. And then people force them to throw the ball and they got negative 10 passing yards. So yeah, it's not, it's not fun. I was so optimistic. We cut that out of the episode a few weeks. weeks ago, but I was like, they're going to be over 500 by the by, and they're zero and six right now. Are you talking about the, uh, after the first game where they almost beat the Steelers, the only good game they've had?
Starting point is 00:58:02 Yeah, I was super optimistic. They've been in all of them just like they've been in that game. No, they've, they've had that one and then the one close game against, uh, Arizona. It's Tampa, Tampa, Tampa, yeah, they were close. Yes. Yeah. No, it's been a, it's been a real fun season watch. I'm glad I have your guys teams to also root for it.
Starting point is 00:58:18 But it's not, it's not the same. Brandon asked me if I, like, still care. and like I can't I can't not care like I've invested so much in shrieking try it out it's great no he's got a Jets tattoo he has to I don't someone else does who we will have on the show yeah when are we are we having them on the show we promised somebody they would be on the I know we just keep he keeps getting but he got bumped for Leo Kianu the rock like he'll he'll have his dad all right and that's enough that's enough bumping him this guy got a fucking tattoo we're not bumping him anymore I want him on the show I
Starting point is 00:58:51 want his take on this negative 10 yards passing that's what i want are they a jet fan probably not i think he's not a jet fan he just he just got a tattoo of me riding the jets logo which was a very humbling and honoring anyways either way it's been a fun year i love football football's great thanks for joining us thanks for jumping in and giving us your take appreciate it jake hold on wait one thing one thing get back in here jake i want to do one thing jake just because we've wasted time in the jets now i got to give me something. Pick the first win. Oh, boy. Oh, wow. Pick the first win. Call your shot. Babe Ruth, point out field. Call it right now. Do it. Do it. This is going to look really bad really quickly if I'm wrong. But like Carolina has been horrible on the road. I do think, oh, and six Jets can get a win.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Like, this is why I care every week. Call it. Next week, I do think the Jets win that game, Carolina coming into MetLife. So lock it in. Lock it in. you guys. See you guys next week. We'll get an update next week. Thank you. Truly amazing optimism in the face of such horrid. Jake is a sick man. Evidence. The ability of Jets fans to negate what they're observationally looking at is truly remarkable. Thank you, Jake, for your input. Thank you, Jake. No problem. We are officially a third of the way through the NFL season. So let's take a look at where we're at so far. All right, who's good? Tuffest division. Tough as a vision might be the ASU. West.
Starting point is 01:00:19 I don't know who else. NFC North, probably. Lions, Packers, Bears got a big win against Washington. There's a lot of bad, what's happening in the NFL? It is a crazy year. I don't know what's going on there. There's not really any team that feels like they are like the juggernaut. No.
Starting point is 01:00:38 Feels like it's wide open. Bill's losing last night. Dude, nobody. Lions looked like they were starting to get it done. Then you guys go out there and, I mean, the Chiefs kind of feel that way, but they're three and three. I just, I don't, it's a wild year right now, man. The Colts, the Colts are 5-1, but they haven't played anybody.
Starting point is 01:00:55 Like, I like the Colts, but like I still got to see it. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know, man. It's just a weird year. It's wide open. Who do you think the biggest surprises? Daniel Jones. I don't even think it's close.
Starting point is 01:01:05 Danny Jones, man, I know, surprised. I think everybody, who thought that Daniel Jones is going to go in there in through the first six weeks be the number one quarterback in QBR, the Colts will be five in one. Like, I thought Dale Jones got a round and he went into a great opportunity. Yeah, I mean, listen, I thought he got a shit end of the stick over in New York. A stud at tight end right now. Okay, but you thought it was going to look like this?
Starting point is 01:01:31 You thought it was going to look like this? I don't know. If you, no, come on. I don't know. Nobody thought it was going to be this. I didn't have a thought. Fair enough. But at the same time, it's like it makes sense that that he's going out there and he's
Starting point is 01:01:45 winning football games. I thought he was a better quarterback in New York that people gave him credit, but I definitely did not expect this. He has far exceeded any of my expectations. And I don't know who else has been the biggest surprise. Like I'm trying to think. I'd say, I'd say Seattle. I didn't, I didn't feel. You didn't think Donald would be able to repeat. It's not even Donald, man. I just, a new first year coach, Seattle's kind of turn. Is it second year? My bad. Seattle? They traded D.K. I'm like, what does that team look like with the new quarterback and a second year coach and sure enough man they're i mean i saw it firsthand in preseason i'm like man this this team is this team's got juice this team can run the fucking football yeah they got players
Starting point is 01:02:26 man they got they got they got dogs a wide receiver they got my guy j barner from from cleveland ohio football player at tight end baby let's fucking go i mean listen they had a big win this past week i think um they've been they've definitely been surprising um trying to think of who else I thought the bucks would be great, so that's not a surprise. I guess I'm surprised the 49ers have been able to weather all these injuries and somehow be towards the top of the NFL. Like, they've done a great job with that. Now they just move Fred Warner.
Starting point is 01:02:56 I mean, it's like... They get my guy George Kittleback, but Fred Warner and... Patriots got to be up there. It's tough. Patriots got to be up there. I mean, Vrable got them right quick. Yeah. They're playing good ball.
Starting point is 01:03:10 Drake May looks legit. Making a lot of plays, not just... He makes on-schedule plays, then he scrambles around, makes off-schedule plays, the poise. That's what it is. He's the calm and savaginess of him, man. He looks like a fucking eight-year, 10-year veteran. He's doing for a while. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:26 It's impressive. Raven's struggling as a surprise, but I think when you go through the injuries, it's not that surprising. I don't know, man. The whole year is a surprise. It's just been wild. All the teams I thought were going to be the competitive teams coming in. It just looks like all of them are, you know, they're losing games. It's so wide open.
Starting point is 01:03:44 um coach of the year who do we think is the coach of the year through the first quarter i mean i'm a little biased but who andy come on now baby come on don't don't be a homer for once Travis andy reed was is expect you guys are expected to go to the super bowl and you're three and three do not give me andy reed as the coach of the year through the first quarter i love andy read i love andy he's the coach of my world i love andy reed who's exceeded their expectations the most raves I think it's Vrabs.
Starting point is 01:04:14 I feel like even with the Colts, it felt like there's like pieces in place. And Shane's done a phenomenal job this year. I think the Patriots being good is the biggest surprise. I did not think that they would be good this year. I thought it was going to take longer for them to be good. So I'll go with Vrable, plus another Ohio guy to just give an award to. MVP. Let's go, Northeast Ohio with that.
Starting point is 01:04:34 MVP, I think it's a clear runaway through the first quarter of the season. Pat Mahomes, baby. Baker Mayfield. No question about it. I love Baker, so I'll allow that. He's got a lot of great weapons, but he's also, I mean, this last game, like, everybody's hurt. Mike Evans is down, Chris Godwin's down, Boogah's down, Bucke's down, Bucke's down, and he's still balling, he's still putting up over 300 yards, basically.
Starting point is 01:04:55 He's tearing it up this year. Shake and bake, baby. Bold Topics was brought to you by Raising Cain's Chicken Figures. How about it, man? That doesn't for bold topics. Specifically, the fingers. All right. Jakes.
Starting point is 01:05:08 And moving into Stamp of the Week. Let's get the stamp of the week. Brought to you by Starbucks, your new protein coffee destination. Hmm, two things I do love, protein coffee. All right, who we going with, who we going with, who we going with, who we going with, who we going with, who we going with? Who we going with? I'm going with my guy, Jalen Moore, man, keeping it in the house. Filled in and left tackle the other day.
Starting point is 01:05:28 That's a brand new baby girl in the house. I'm sure keeping them up at night. I was born the day before the game. Shout out to Jalen's wife. And shout out to Jalen, man. And one of my favorite teammates right now, guys fucking awesome to be in the building with Detroit's finest. Yeah, baby. And could it be happier that he got his opportunity to shine on a little Monday or a little Sunday night football?
Starting point is 01:05:53 Make sure to ask Jaylon if he's a Michigan or Michigan State fan. I'm going to say he's a state guy. I hope he is. I could. I don't know. Could a loser says Michigan fan. Okay, state fans who went tarps off. Do you see this?
Starting point is 01:06:05 No. What's this video? Tarps off. Apparently one fan went shirtless. in the second half and it grew to three full sections. I mean, there's nobody at the fucking game. Yeah, they're not very good this year, I don't think. I mean, I can't award, I love the no shirts.
Starting point is 01:06:20 And this would be epic if it was packed sections doing this. I mean, it's packed right there. That's fucking packed. There's nobody at the fucking game, Travis. Bro, it's packed right there. That section is packed, though. I'm not giving this any love. If it would have been bigger, I would have been all on board.
Starting point is 01:06:37 All right. Rico Dowdell. I keep giving him the himmy. He had, I mean, again, Rigo Dada went for more than 200 and, like, 30 yards from scrimmage. He's fucking killing it. Two games in a row. He's been fucking unbelievable. Torched his former team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Starting point is 01:06:54 It wasn't even all, like, big runs either. Like, it was a lot of like seven-yard, eight-yard, like, just like Man Mountain Dean coming downhill. I love this. He warned his former Dallas Cowboys teammates last week. They'd better get ready and buckle up. And then after the game, they wasn't buckled up. That wasn't buckled up. No, they weren't.
Starting point is 01:07:15 Tess Johnson, one 45-yard touchdown reception and thought the crowd was chanting MVP for him. Oh, yeah. I mean, that's a funny one. It's a funny one. I'm thinking they're talking about me. So I asked Shep. And he was like, yeah, I was like, I ain't do nothing this year.
Starting point is 01:07:33 And then he was like, they're talking about Baker. No, he's not getting a stamp for that. Texas A&M police Twitter account? What's this, Brandon? You haven't heard about this? No. This is the Texas A&M police Twitter account that you need to follow on Saturdays because they just tweet out the various students being arrested at games.
Starting point is 01:07:50 So you get things like public intoxication, PA 102, unable to walk, give an opportunity to call a sober friend, but he locked himself out of his phone, arrested. The best is the third one. You've got to read the third one. Public intoxication. Aggie Park contacted subject eating a sandwich with a water jug. of whiskey, the BAC was, you heard this right, point three, three, seven. Oh, my God, released to the EMA. Jesus Christ, is that real? I like this, yes, the second one, too. These are all real.
Starting point is 01:08:22 I had to look it up. Anything above point three oh is like alcohol poisoning. Yeah, you're like, and he still had the jug of whiskey in his hand. He was carving up for the second half. I'm not going to lie, I don't like any of these. Oh, my God, Jason. I'm going to do it. Arch Manning, then. Arch Manning, baby. I'm going to do it because I think, I think they earned it.
Starting point is 01:08:45 I'm going to give it to Cam Scadaboo, the fucking reincarnation of like a human dog, if I've ever seen one. And fucking, like, let's go, baby. I just love to. There's something so refreshing about the mentality. Yeah. There's something so refreshing about it. Those are stanton.
Starting point is 01:09:03 All right. Let's get out of here. That does it for Stamp of the week. Brought to you by Star. Your new protein coffee destination. I bought it, man. Thank you to our sponsor, Starbucks. Jason, you know that morning chaos.
Starting point is 01:09:14 You got your protein shake in one hand. You got your coffee in the other. You're trying not to spill everything before your workout. Yeah, Starbucks just fixed that whole situation. Boy, did they meet your new partner in crime? Starbucks protein lattes. That's right, baby. Protein mixed with a latte.
Starting point is 01:09:33 You didn't think they could do it, but they did. Picture this, smooth vanilla swirled into perfectly steamed protein boosted milk. Espresso, and it's got none of that chalky protein aftertaste you've learned to dread. It's the protein boost you need. We're talking serious gains in a creamy latte you'll actually enjoy. The iced vanilla protein latte brings that classic cafe flavor to your fitness game with 29 grams of protein in a grande. That's crazy. That's crazy.

And if you want to switch things up, there's ice protein matcha waiting to energize. your routine as well, both available and sugar-free to keep your goals in check. I'm not going to lie, Brandon. You don't lie, Jason. This is actually very good.
Starting point is 01:10:13 I am not a big fan of mixing protein with everyday items usually, but this, I could get on board with this. This is really tasty. You don't really notice the protein additive. That's what's so wild. It just tastes like a, yeah. Everything that's protein enhanced either has that grit or it's got that weird little artificial sweetness that you always like, you're like, oh, this is not a real thing.
Starting point is 01:10:34 This is off. But it doesn't matter. However you want to level up your protein game, Starbucks is coming through to help you out. Our guest today is six foot one actor from Toronto, Canada. New York Times ranks him as the fourth greatest actor of the 21st century, but he's number one in your heart. You know him from the Matrix, John Wick, point break speed.
Starting point is 01:14:31 The replacements and many more. And coming soon. Now his. new movie, Good Fortune. My goodness, please welcome. Keanu Reeves. Yes, hey. Thank you. Thank you. This is awesome.
Starting point is 01:14:47 Dude, Keanu, you're a legend, brother. Congrats on everything as of late. And congrats on Good Fortune, man. Absolutely. Thank you. It's a fun film. I had a great time making it. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:59 It's a fun watch, man. It's a fun watch. I was, how about it? My guy, oh, yeah, of course. We got the screws. Oh, yeah, I'm in, yeah. You played a hell of an angel, man. Tacos, baby.
Starting point is 01:15:10 Who doesn't love tacos? Tell me about what it was like working with Aziz Ansari as a director. He was really lovely. He had a vision. He invited me to the vision and then was really collaborative. You know, I'd go to his house. We'd work on script. Get some rehearsals, some read-throughs, worked with he and,
Starting point is 01:15:34 uh, Seth Rogan, um, legends. And so then just, he just kept working on the script, trying to make it better and better, get his kind of the tone and what he wanted the film to be about. And I really appreciated him inviting me into that process through the character, Gabriel. Do you want to tell us a little bit in your words about the film? I mean, I know, obviously, you're an angel. There's, it feels like a very, uh, like, uh, the trope has very much been done before of like,
Starting point is 01:16:02 you know, does money solve happiness? but I feel like you guys did it in a little bit different way and you shed a more truthful light on it, I guess. Yeah, I mean, it's like an angel comes down trying to do better. He swaps Aziz's character who's kind of having hard times and he's sleeping in his car. And with Seth Rogan, who's kind of venture capitalist, doing pretty well off.
Starting point is 01:16:29 And in the typical kind of body swatch switch movie, the, you know, the guy, you know, kind of see, I'm like, I expect, Gabriel expects him to see how the other half lives and that money doesn't mean anything and it's really about something else. And in this film, it's like, well, no, actually money can help. It's so good, dude. It actually does make a difference. Yeah, it's a difference. Why would I go back?
Starting point is 01:16:56 He actually says, why, dude, can you make me go back? And I'm like, technically, no. And I'm like, but you're not that kind of guy, you know? You're taking someone else's life. And he's like, yeah, yeah, well, and let me just do it for a couple of weeks. Yeah. But through that journey, because then, of course, I'm kind of screwing up. I'm not supposed to switch these lives.
Starting point is 01:17:18 And then when he doesn't want to go back, then I basically get fired. You do winged, man. And then I have to become human. And then I go on this journey of kind of seeing how they both are. That's some of my favorite parts of the movie is you having to now be human and realizing what food tastes like. Yeah. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:17:41 I'm spreading, a hamburger, chicken nuggets. And that was fun. I found it pretty funny because I feel like of all the celebrities, of like A-list celebrities when I think of them, you seem the most like down to earth, like figuratively and literally. Like I see you go and taking public transport. You're walking down the street. Like you are with the people.
Starting point is 01:17:59 There's nothing that like you push that like. like you are not connected to like the human experience. Yeah. Was there something that spoke to you in particular about like what this, the message this film was trying to put across in that regard? Yeah, for sure. I mean, I thought that it handled the kind of allegory or, you know,
Starting point is 01:18:21 taking on a kind of tough subject of people, you know, having to work multiple jobs. And he kind of, Aziz kind of takes on the perception of the American dream. And, you know, that can be not funny. And I thought he was really sensitive to representing that struggle at a certain level. And coming to a place that's, you know, not just about hope, but practical things in the sense of just it's about friendship.
Starting point is 01:18:54 It's about connection. It's about laughter. It's about heart. And yes, these other things are happening. But take that, take the, take what we have, what we can do, you know, take each other, reach out, be connected. You know, it's really just a kind of backbone and the riches of being alive. Beautifully said, beautifully said, as always. Beautifully said, man.
Starting point is 01:19:19 Well, I got to ask you, would Keanu Reeves be a good angel or a bad angel in real life? How do you think you'd nail that? That's my job. Well, if I'm in my mind to it, I think I would just. Hey, I'd be like, my angel, Gabriel, he's just in charge of, like, texting and driving. So if someone's so good, dude, I love that, I love that it separates. Like, they separate the angel duties. Like, no, that's not your, you're in this department over here.
Starting point is 01:19:49 You know, I could just pop me on the shoulder and kind of, you know, I look up to another angel, Azrael who's like, you know, saving lost souls. I don't know I could try well I'm feeling you'd nail it what um you haven't done a comedy in a minute what what sparked you to kind of go back into that genre
Starting point is 01:20:11 um well I mean John Wicks got some humor oh yeah but it's not a comedy yes uh I mean I love it I love it and I haven't I hadn't done it for a while I had done another sequel with Bill and Ted's excellent adventure and now it's winter
Starting point is 01:20:29 a couple years ago but really since then no I hadn't done it and it was great to work with Aziz and Seth Rogan who's a genius and Sandra O and Kiki Palmer's in it and she's amazing
Starting point is 01:20:44 and I just you know it's fun hey there we go just have fun I mean there's a lot of clap to it but it's pretty fun that group that you just
Starting point is 01:20:58 mentioned right there man that sounds like one of the fun as hangouts you could put together it sounds like everybody's having a good old time for us for us uh like uh non like uh professionals in the in the movie world in the film world you were talking about how you and aziz got together beforehand in terms of the script and like to like build these characters or build like his vision on it like how far in advance does that happen before you guys even start to film or Or is it just like a non-stop, like, ongoing? I don't know. I got the script a few months before we started filming.
Starting point is 01:21:32 And then I would say probably the four weeks leading up to, four or five weeks leading up to just meet a couple of times just before filming a little more intensely. You know, because I was going a certain path with the character. And he really wanted me to bring back some of the energy and lightness of previous roles. So he wanted a little bit of Bill and Ted in there. Do you ever see a film called Parenthood? Of course. On Howard's film.
Starting point is 01:22:04 So I played a character in that. And he wanted some of that guy. So he wanted a little bit of, and I liked that. I mean, I liked this old soul with a bit of innocence to him. Yeah. But he really directed that. And he gave me that note about three weeks before we started filming. Wow.
Starting point is 01:22:22 And you can just channel it all. I mean, obviously, you're one of the best ever. do it but you could just channel it all right then and there and really start to like getting grained in it from there i had to bring a little bit back you know there we go there we go there we go i had to knock the cob's whips off a little bit yeah i'm just a i but it gave me light it gave me energy you know and i and it gave the character a kind of like presentness you know the way to see things that i think the viewer can take on his point of view which was um which was great. That's awesome. Well, we got one last question with the related. If you could swap
Starting point is 01:23:01 bodies or lives with anyone, who would you swap with? Oh, my gosh. Um, I'm just trying to make it work in this one. That's fair. That's a fair one, yeah. I don't know. I mean, I, well, you guys are involved in athletics. So let's do, let's go. If I was like, what would be a moment? like you know we hear about those moments in sports where people go into the zone you know like we're almost unconscious and you're just instinctive and you're doing that and then I always I love the Olympics
Starting point is 01:23:39 I love that someone the dead of skin and like four years in a lifetime coming up it's crazy that one moment right And see you guys, it's like the whistle, right? Yeah, yeah. You know, and like... And now it's time. You know?
Starting point is 01:23:59 Everything you've worked for is going to happen right now. You better fucking get this bobsled moving, but... You know? So, like, imagine being like, I don't know, Hussein Bolt, breaking the world record. It's the fastest man in the world is... That's a big... I'll trade spouse with that.
Starting point is 01:24:18 I mean, like a perfect die. yeah um i mean go like hockey i grew up playing hockey heck yeah baby hell yes grow up on the ice baby that's what i don't canada you have to it's like you're not allowed to grow up in trano without playing hockey exactly what did you play what position what position you play that was a goaltender goalie too what i've been that played net let's go man i think being in someone's body but being in an athletic body achieving that one moment like whatever that was Yeah. Heck yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:53 I'm not going to lie. We've talked about it before for me, winning the Super Bowl was kind of like that. And you feel like the people that make these movies, man, they fucking nail it. Like, how did they do this? It's crazy. Like, I still remember Super Bowl 52, the last play of the game. Tom Brady goes back. And we're going to win the game.
Starting point is 01:25:14 We know that this is going to get completed. He throws the ball up. And a, I mean, a stadium full of. 65,000 people, it, you don't hear a thing. It is completely silent. The ball feels like it's taking forever. Finally, it falls. Somehow, while it's in the air, there's violins playing.
Starting point is 01:25:35 I didn't hear that much. I remember running on the field. I still, I'm like running on the field. Is this game over? And you still don't, your senses are so in the moment of like what's happening up here that they're blocked out. Like you don't, until you, I saw everybody. else celebrating then it almost like the sensation like rushes in all at once it was it's it's insane and trav talks about being in the zone a lot he talks about it being blacked out oh yeah i just
Starting point is 01:26:03 yeah it takes me a second to actually have to like process wait what just even it just happened right there like how did i just get hit that fast and why are we 10 yards downfield do you guys find this too i mean i i i did it i mean i went to a pretty high level in hockey as a junior I mean, I didn't do Major A or anything like that. But to me, it was like even when you were like unconscious, it's so interesting. And this happens on stage too, how much you can also think. Yeah. Oh.
Starting point is 01:26:35 Oh, yeah. I think you have all those built up. It almost like freeze up your thinking. Like you're not like bogged down overthinking it. Yeah. It just feels like you just process it. You have all those built up instincts that you just been, you just been channeling and fixing and just making it to where. When you need to pull out that answer to whatever is going on, that instinct just hits so fast.
Starting point is 01:26:57 And it's like... The body notes. Like your body, like, I'm sure you're looking at people. People are looking at your hips and where you're going to turn and how do you... They don't want to look at the hips, Keanu. They don't want to look at the hips, baby. They don't want to express whatever it is. I got to ask you more questions about being a goal.
Starting point is 01:27:14 First of all, nine times out of ten, for anybody watching, whoever's the goal is usually the craziest person on the table. It's almost always that way. It's the best kind of crazy, though. No doubt. What was your style in net? Are we butterfly? Like, were you, did you have a weakness? What was your strength?
Starting point is 01:27:31 So I grew up in an era. I guess, I mean, I started playing street hockey, nice hockey in the 70s. And then I guess my hockey was like 80, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85. So it was like, and high school hockey. I had a try out for a junior B team and then had a possible trial for major junior A. But, so I was kind of like a crossover style. Okay. So I, my 70 styles were more stand upright.
Starting point is 01:28:09 Yeah. You know, but I was so, like Jerry Cheever's from Boston initially, really kind of brought around the butterfly style. Yeah. But early days. And then there was like 70s Russian hockey, which was like Trechiak, who kind of did the butterfly a little bit. Okay. And I was doing Jacques Plont, Bernie Perrant. I was about to say Bernie, rest in peace, just passed away.
Starting point is 01:28:33 Legendary Flyer. I was going to, you beat me to it. Yeah. And he was kind of upright. So I was like, I would get told I went down too much. Okay. So I was like a stand-up goalie with a little. I was stand-up goalie first.
Starting point is 01:28:46 so like in ice hockey but in a butterfly position you kind of kicked out like here yes yeah old stand-up style if you were going to do a skate save you would turn out oh wow that doesn't make any sense man right right so if you were his exposure right here no but like if there's shots going low to my glove side right yeah you would go butterfly and stop it here right got it got it would go out yes anyway i've seen that maneuver now watching all the time yeah old school hockey that's good shit right there I did some celebrity games, and I remember some of the players who were playing, like, you know, you're in a celebrity game, and it's like, oh, you can play hockey. I'm like, yeah, I'm okay. And then they're like, wow, you're like, they would say to me, it's like, wow, playing against you's like when we played, like, in high school, like old time goal.
Starting point is 01:29:38 So good, man. I love it. I had a good glove, man, really fast reflexes, and I was positionally sound. Oh, it's at a good angle. I love it, man. We grew up playing hockey. I don't know if you know that, Keanu. We played growing up, too.
Starting point is 01:29:50 I recently got back out on the ice on just, like, rented a pair of skates. Haven't been out there in like 10 years. There was like a, I just happened to stumble across this. I was trying to watch football games in Jacksonville. And for some reason, the sports bar was in an ice rink. And there were beer leagues happening all around me. And one of the guys, like, hey, do you want to hop on on the ice? I'm like, hell yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:10 Do I want to hop on this ice? Let's go, baby. And, I mean, I was like a deer. Like a baby deer trying to skate I couldn't do it I'm blaming it on the skates I'm hoping I still got it But it just made me fall in love with
Starting point is 01:30:22 I just love being in an ice rink smell like everything about it Yeah It's like stale Yeah yeah man I'm telling you I hate playing in the heat In football when it gets to like Right now to November
Starting point is 01:30:39 And December and January Where it feels like I'm just breathing in an ice rink Oh man I could go all day. I can go all day, man. We do want to ask some more questions. Is there a Mount Rushmore, in your opinion, of Keanu Reeves' quotes? Like, what are your favorite quotes that you get throwing at you, like, routinely from your
Starting point is 01:30:58 career? Okay, well, I'll just say some of that hit come out on the street, like, you know, Gary Busey saying, you know, Utah, too, give me two. Yeah, okay, okay, there we go. It's not my line, but. Yeah, that's a good one. I did a film in the 80s called. River's Edge where
Starting point is 01:31:16 my character calls another character motherfucker food eater you just hear I guess I've been known for saying whoa you know Yeah Yeah
Starting point is 01:31:31 Bill and Ted's be excellent Dude that's That was the one I immediately think of It's just such a great way to go about life man Summed up perfectly Be excellent to each other and party on baby so sweet be excellent to each other i don't know does john wick have any i mean it's just a dog wasn't just a dog yeah i don't know he he doesn't he's more of a quiet calm centered assassin
Starting point is 01:32:01 yeah throughout the whole thing i think up i just this maniacally yeah that was crazy he just came through the screen man that's awesome maybe that's the what it makes you think oh man Dude, after good fortune, you're going to be having cigarettes and tacos thrown at you, man. It's so good. It's not a bad day. There you go, yeah. It's one of the things we love as humans. We'll get to our last segment, Big Dog, and get you out of here, man.
Starting point is 01:32:30 Our last segment is called We Gotta Ask, but you don't have to answer. You can tell us the fuck off, but we would love to hear your input on a few of these, man. First one, famously played Neo from The Matrix, as we were just talking about. Are you upset? We apparently learned nothing from those movies. Like AI is, how far are we out from just the Matrix being real, brother? Do you think about this? You got to think about this like a lot, right?
Starting point is 01:32:58 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. It doesn't seem like we're like moths to the flame. It's like we can't help ourselves. You know, if we can do it, we'll do it.
Starting point is 01:33:14 Yeah. We're doing it and we don't know actually what we're doing something. Yeah. That's what it feels like. What are the ramifications? What could go south here? How far does this go? Are we already there?
Starting point is 01:33:26 Are we already in a simulation? I get, I go back and forth, man. I choose to believe no. I choose to believe no, but I don't know. Maybe I've just watched the Matrix too many times. There you go, yeah. The Matrix kind of gives a lot of, especially in the first three films, a lot of weight to reality. What is real, what is real, and a lot of power to that question.
Starting point is 01:33:57 And I remember a few years ago, I was at a dinner and the host had a couple of kids, like 15, 12, 13, 15. And someone, and one of them asked me to explain the plot of the Matrix. And I was like, well, I play this character and, you know, basically trying to fight for what's real against, you know, a simulation. And, and this young person goes, well, like, who cares if it's real? No way. Man, it's. And I was like, oh. Okay.
Starting point is 01:34:29 All right. Yeah. It's one way to look at it. Yeah. That's where it's headed. That's where it's headed. You know. and it's so it's like how we're going to value those that matter and who will care.
Starting point is 01:34:42 Well, it's crazy. I'm on the side of Rio. It's crazy, isn't it? Anyway, is there another one? I'm on the real. I'm on the real side, man. Yeah, yeah. All right.
Starting point is 01:34:53 In point, lighter note. Okay, in point break, Patrick Swayze does a lot of his own skydiving. Are you known as your own stunts kind of guy? And like John Wick, obviously, we've seen all the action movies. Like, do you do a lot of your own stunts? Yeah, I like to say, because it's true that I don't. Don't do stunts. Okay.
Starting point is 01:35:10 Fair enough. All right. My son Donald, Double Jackson, Spidell got hit by a lot of cars. I didn't get hit by them. Johnwood gets hit by a lot of cars and Jackson was getting hit by cars. Okay. So if I'm there, if I'm doing something, like I, you know, I really learned actually with Point Break and a wonderful stunt coordinator named Glenn Wilder was, and in a film called Speed
Starting point is 01:35:34 with a stunt quarter named Gary Hein. How can we put the actor into the action? Because then you don't have to cut away from the story and the character. And so you create a really good connection with the audience. And I really liked that and believed in that. And that's something that the Wachowski's on The Matrix believed in and what I did do as well. So I'll do as much as I can do.
Starting point is 01:36:00 But if I'm there, it's not a stunt. And if I'm not there, it's a stunt. because it's dangerous and you know so well this brings up another thing we wanted to ask you you've done all these iconic action movies where you're you're moving and and fighting and running is it true that you got hurt doing this last film more than you got hurting all these other ones like you're an angel tapping people on the back who are texted driving and all of a sudden you hurt your knee is that accurate yep oh no oh no well I was tuna scene and uh and and i was going back to the dressing room which was at a residence and they had
Starting point is 01:36:39 a carpet laid down to protect the owner's carpet and then there was a little section and then i caught my foot and i started to fall and then i spiked my left knee my gang it spiked it and my left cella went like this oh my knee cap i had a vertical break it didn't break the top and bottom A vertical break? I've never heard of this. I've never heard of this. So, oh, my God. It just snapped right in the middle of it.
Starting point is 01:37:12 It's better than a horizontal break. Well, that's good. At least it's better than a horizontal, but that still sounds pretty messed up. Terrible. Did it heal? Like, do you need surgery for this, or it all just heals on its own? No, but with the vertical, they just said, you know, I was immobilized and wore brace for basically 10 weeks but I filmed while I had that but until they pulled the blood out of the capsule yeah
Starting point is 01:37:37 the pain was banana cakes you guys ever had like I'm sure your knees aren't in great shape I have I've had that exact same fall but usually it happens on grass or whatever you don't break your patella what happens to you rupture your burs a sack so your knee just fills with insane fluid yeah yeah just balloons up I remember I burst a burst of burs a sack one time and for some reason when all the in there was pushing on a nerve. And just, yeah, it's the most intense pain out of that one, exactly. Well, man, I don't want to move it. I was, yeah, man, dude, dude, when we went to drain it, it was like, oh, see, that's, yeah, the drain.
Starting point is 01:38:23 Get the Cs out of there? Oh, I think I had over 50 C Cs. It was just like, yeah. It's like, that can't be good. Oh, man. Yeah, it's the worst. Anyway, so comedy is hard. Pick those knees up, baby.
Starting point is 01:38:40 You played the voice of one of our favorite TV shows, Severance. You played the voice of the Lumen Building in Severance. What was it, what was it like almost losing out on the role to Barack Obama? Oh, I didn't know. Did you hear this? Oh, my gosh. Are we breaking news? We're breaking this news, yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:59 I didn't know. Ben Stiller told you that? Ben told us that. Yeah, he said he was thinking about Barack Obama. It was one part. The Barack must have said no. And I was like, oh, my God, I was the second choice. That's okay.
Starting point is 01:39:15 As long as I got the kid. There you go. There you go. I don't care if I'm not the first. If you weren't an actor, what would Keanu Reeves be doing? I don't know. We could ask that question a lot, too. Playing in the NHL or what?
Starting point is 01:39:27 Hey. You know, I was, I mean, I was good, but I probably wasn't good enough. I always, when I, when I thought about professional hockey, I always started just doing the Olympic hockey team, the Canadian hockey team. That's so cool. It might have been able, but probably not. But anyway, what would I be doing? I don't know. We could ask that same question.
Starting point is 01:39:46 And I don't know either. I feel like what you've been going along was something for so long. It's like, it's hard to imagine what would have manifested without you doing that. I know it is for us when they're like, what would you do if you weren't a football player? I don't know. Coach?
Starting point is 01:40:03 Yeah. The only thing I can think of is what I wouldn't be and it wouldn't be a landscaper because my dad always used to look at me when I did the yard work and be like, boy, you better get paid by the hour. You ain't getting shit done.
Starting point is 01:40:18 Is that a slow wait? Exactly, yeah. Taking my good old time. Yeah. I don't know where the rake is on the floor and the football is being thrown in the air to myself. What is the best piece of life advice that Keanu Reeves has ever got?
Starting point is 01:40:36 I haven't had a lot of advice. No? You've just been out of it. I like it, though, man. Just living and learning. Lots of living and learning. We're trying to, a lot of living, but trying to learn. And advice.
Starting point is 01:40:53 advice advice what would be the best advice you would give somebody oh I'm you know I think uh you know I've been told best advice was like rest um okay it's probably just like before just get some rest I'm with you man
Starting point is 01:41:11 I love I'm with you dude listen there's nothing better than putting your feet up after you after you've been working your fucking ass off man dude if you're looking for advice taking putting your head down going to sleep is sometimes some of best things you can do. I mean, I guess maybe that's not good. It is good advice. I think it's great advice. Yeah. Especially if somebody's looking for advice because then they've been thinking about it, right? It's like, man, how can I solve this? What can I do? And nine times out of ten, once you're in
Starting point is 01:41:35 that state, it's like, all right, let's take a second and rest. Take a rest. Get a clear mind. Let's come back to this. Recharge that brain. I didn't get the clear the mind part. All right. Last question. And, it can be good, bad, whatever you choose. Do you have a welcome to Hollywood moment? Oh, welcome to Hollywood moment. We ask a lot of our guests who are athletes, welcome to the NFL moment, whatever. Do you have a welcome to the industry, welcome to Hollywood, welcome to acting?
Starting point is 01:42:09 Like, is there anything that stands out where you're like, man, this is either what I want to do or, yeah, go ahead. I got paid when I was like 16. So I was a professional act around 1617. Okay. Wow. I was in Toronto, Canada. and then I got a manager who lived in Los Angeles. And I ended up doing a movie of the week in Canada, Toronto,
Starting point is 01:42:30 that got me an agent in L.A. Okay. So at 20 years old, I drove in my car to Los Angeles, got out of my car, and my manager said, we want to change your name. And so that's like a welcome to Hollywood. No way. Did they have a name in their back pocket?
Starting point is 01:42:51 Or, like, did they say? No. You didn't even let it get to that point. You were like, and I remember I was like on the, I was on the beach. I was walking on the beach. And I was just like, my name. What am I changed my name?
Starting point is 01:43:05 Yeah. No. It ended up, my middle name is Charles. So I was like, Chuck. And I grew up on a street called Spadina, Chuck Spadina. And then I was like something Templeton. But then I was just like, so then I became Casey Reeves. Casey Reeves.
Starting point is 01:43:23 I'm credited as Casey Reeves. In your first film? I think so. Maybe. Wow. Maybe. I think there is. And then I couldn't do it.
Starting point is 01:43:33 So then I would be auditions and they'd go Casey Reeves and I'd be like, I wouldn't even answer. I was like, somebody's going to call you and you got to respond. I think six months later, I was like, I'm not doing this. Yeah. There you go. But that's a Hollywood moment. Yeah, let's say. Welcome to Hollywood, baby.
Starting point is 01:43:51 Well, Keanu, we cannot thank you enough. Who's going to win the Super Bowl? I think the Kansas City Chiefs are rolling right now, Big God, us on. Yeah, baby. We're seeing on those Eagles. Jason. Don't sleep on those birds, baby. We're getting rolling here.
Starting point is 01:44:09 Do you have a squad? Do you have a team your favor? Well, I mean, I've been so enjoyed watching your success. And, like, I've never became a Patriot's. later, I always kind of was like, okay. I mean, they are what they are. But emotionally, I never got Patriots. But I still like, they had so many great players. Oh, yeah, they did. But I appreciate the excellent. There's a kid. It was a Steelers. Ooh. And then, then Swan.
Starting point is 01:44:42 Swan. So, yeah, it's so graceful. So smooth. Sounds just like his, it looks just like his name. And then I liked, I liked, I liked Joe Montana. Joe Montana, baby. That's a chief at one point. Yeah, yeah, in the 90s, baby. Yeah, I mean, I like that. And so now I'm, my, I guess my childhood heart is with the Steelers and that experiment that's going on.
Starting point is 01:45:05 Dude, it's, I mean, they're rolling right now. They're rolling right now. It's the experiment. There's something. Yeah, mate. They're winning the north right now, baby. We did it like a poll a few years back, and I've been on record as this. I think the Steelers is the best name in football.
Starting point is 01:45:22 Oh, yeah. Like, I just, it's like such a football. It's a strong name. It represents the community so well. Like, it's an embodiment of the people that built, like literally built the city. And a lot of the United States, I just think it's a fantastic, like, ethos to a city. And then, like, all the sports teams at Pittsburgh match with the black and yellow. Like, it's a very cool sports town.
Starting point is 01:45:43 And the team always feels like it's, like, that's what it represents, like the toughness. and like this steel curtain in that yeah and then they go out and get the biggest strongest fastest wide receiver in the NFL it's like all right that's a stealer's move right there i got to say kianna i can't thank you enough for coming on man i i everyone check out good fortune but i got to say more than that not only do i love you as an actor and what you've embodied in your films you're tremendous i just love your entire ethos man i don't i know i don't know you know you but just observing from afar, I appreciate what you stand for,
Starting point is 01:46:19 the way you go about life and everything, brother. So thank you for hopping on this sports podcast. My girlfriend would say, hello, Alexandra. Nice. There we go. Starting point is 01:46:40 You just knew he, I mean, from what everybody says, you just knew he was about to be the smoothest cat that we've talked to yet he's such a good dude man and now I really really want him to come out to a Kansas City Chiefs game so I can hang with him uh yeah did not disappoint fantastic human being unbelievable actor unbelievable football player Shane Falco you can't tell me you can't tell me you couldn't have won a Super Bowl with that Ravens team I mean listen I got full faith full faith ex hockey goalie tough I mean just handed off who was it was Jamal Lewis just hand off to Jamal was it fascinating was that for to hear him talk about the style of
Starting point is 01:47:16 goaltending stand-up versus butterfly versus the in from the 70s to the 80s when he was saying I was like that sounds like Bernie proud I feel like he's speaking about Bernie proud right now he said it I wanted to get a Patrick Waugh reference in there but well that's a way different style but yeah do you remember dad we we would I remember one time I'm watching the avalanche because that was the team I liked because we didn't have a team in Cleveland I was a huge Peter Forrestburg fan and I remember Dad kept calling Patrick Waugh, Patrick Roy. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:47:50 He's like, dad, it's Waugh. And he's like, well, I'm American. That's Roy. He's such a prick. All righty, that wraps up another episode of New Heights. Reminder. Starting point is 01:49:03 We'll see you next week. Yeah, baby. Did you take any actual hits, or was this mostly, like, body doubles and things? No. They were like, a couple, like, when we would run plays at full speed, you know, they would come in. And basically, they were all like, don't hit the guy for the reason that we're all have a job. Yeah, exactly. It's a good reason.
Starting point is 01:49:37 That's very much like the NFL. It's very much like if you touch that's exactly what it is in practice. You are fucking, you're probably talking yourself right out of this fucking, yeah. Don't hit the guy who's helping us get paid. That's right. That's how it works. Golden rule, baby. I think you were one of the most convincing film quarterbacks of all time.
Starting point is 01:50:00 And that's one of my favorite movies to watch. Is it true that the Ravens wanted to give you a try out after this? That's absolutely nonsense. my release would have obviously been left he was like a I don't know why but we tend to have a lower release okay and I might my getting out the ball was a little slow but I could hit like I mean it wasn't this on a rope but like yeah we could do like 50 yard corner I could you know I could hit like
Starting point is 01:50:32 oh you're an athlete that's a hell of a throw right there you Five step, then long seven and go. But, you know, don't start believing you can really do it. Well, listen. I don't know if you saw those 2,000 Ravens, but you didn't need to be that good. I mean, I think the opposing teams average like 11 points a game or something like that. Not even.
Starting point is 01:50:52 It was nine.
