Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. It's that time to put on your jersey and wave your flag, whoever you root for. Why do I watch the walk up? That's like asking me, why do I breed? And it's beautiful. The guys are young and cute and fit.
Starting point is 00:00:19 It's not just a game. It's your culture. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. Listen to American football on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Joy is essential and it's also elusive, but now there's a new and exciting way to start your journey toward a more joyful existence.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Joy 101. It's a new podcast hosted by me, Hoda Kotby. If you're craving inspiration to maximize your joy, tune into these candid, uplifting, and moving on-air chats. Open your free IHeart Radio app. Search Joy 101 and Listen Now. Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby is presented by CVS. All right, listen up. The Jonas Brothers here. Our podcast is called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:01:21 We've here, since everyone has a podcast, we want it to as well. And we've had some incredible guests so far. And now our good friend, Nile Horn, is joining the show. How's it going, boys? Hey, Niall. It was the same thing with slow hands. The old hands is not about anything else really, is it? You know, or taste so good can't be about food.
Starting point is 00:01:35 You do the same, Nick, with some of the stuff that you've done. You too, Joe. Drop what you're doing and listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcasts. Everyone sees me as a football player, but before anything else, I'm human. Every single day I'm still learning how to live with problems, mistakes, relationships, emotions, ever since I was born. This isn't a normal podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Everything here is spontaneous, real and genuine, just honest conversations about what it means to be alive. I'm Javier Tornandez and listen to Learning to Be Human on IHad Radio, Apple Podcasts, or whatever you get your podcast. People around the world are supposed to hear us right now and Peach forgot the pressure. Listen, Peach can't handle that space bar pressure. It's a lot. It's a lot to deal with. Like people think, everybody thinks they could just sit in these seats and turn the cameras on and, you know. You know what I'm saying? When when comments get to you and you can't sleep at night, all I need.
Starting point is 00:03:09 is one mic. You know what I'm saying? You start reading them comments and them thoughts in your head. You know what I'm saying? Like, let's see if you can do it then. Let's see when the pressure is on if you build for it then, Rory. I hear you. You know what I'm saying? Two-A-street. If you want to comment, be commented on. Yeah, that's the fact. Once you put your thoughts out there, that's it, they out there. I love speaking in hyperbole. What we're saying, we're not saying anything. At all, actually. That's what podcasting has become. That's supposed to sound profound, but, like, when you really dissect it and you didn't say anything. You didn't say anything. Well, how are you feeling? I'm feeling. I'm feeling great.
Starting point is 00:03:39 I'm feeling good. I'm looking great. I'm looking good. End of the week coming into the weekend. Yes, sir. How was your week? Was it a positive week? Yeah, a little under the weather, but you know,
Starting point is 00:03:47 they can't keep me down for too long. I'm right back, bounce right back like good crack. You know how that go. I don't. Well, I mean. But I would assume that if you had a good product, you would... It comes right back. It comes right back.
Starting point is 00:03:58 You would crawl right back. Right back. I went to like my first real auction this week. Really? Went to the Gordon Parks Foundation, dinner and auction. The legendary Gordon Park. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:04:09 And I already knew I was poor. But like sometimes it's a little humbling to get that reminder like, no, you're really poor. Yeah. Like you shouldn't be sitting here. Yeah. Like when you're thinking about getting the chicken to go and people are buying $100,000 photography, this isn't the place for you. This seat could have went to somebody else. Why are you here?
Starting point is 00:04:30 Mall, they gave me a paddle. I said, what am I going to do with this? You didn't raise it with me. Me and Joey Badass started joking around. We'd raise it first because we'd raise it. knew they'd start at 50,000, but that shit was going to 200. So like, just to make it look like we were participating, even though Joey did end up buying one. And so did chance. Okay. But I was just there just to, you know, participate. Yeah. Just raise, just raise, just raise, just raise,
Starting point is 00:04:53 just raise the stakes. Like, oh, all right. Let me up the number real quick on somebody. But then if somebody, nobody counter you and you stuck with it. You. And shout out to our brother chance. Every time he bid on one that was specific to Chicago that I know he really wanted, but that price got like, dude, like 1% could afford that shit. And every time he'd raise his paddle, I could just see his face like, why am I doing this? Yeah. But he ended up getting a really nice one. I won't say the price, but it was six figures. Okay. But no, it was a fun night. It just, you know. Was it a charity? Yes. Okay. And to keep the Gordon Parks Foundation going and keep his artwork moving. Was that Cypriani? No, I go. We went to Mira after. You were at Mira.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Oh, you was on a horror fucking run. I mean, it was. I mean, I mean, first of all, Joey Badass and Chance are far richer than me. So all the jokes about being poor, I'm not saying about them. I'm just saying I was, we were at the kids table compared to the billionaires that were in that building. Like people that own the color blue were there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was a very interesting night to say.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Fun night. To see, I felt like I was in succession. Yeah, you can keep behind that wall, just see what they be doing back there. Yeah. Yeah. It's just Swiss and Alicia buying everything. Yeah, yeah, that's all of this, but they honored Chance, which was cool. Chance to the speech.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Chuck. Hank Williams presented. he was at our table as well. It was really cool to meet him, very talented filmmaker. But John Legend was also awarded. He was there, my guy? He did a speech and sung at the end of speech.
Starting point is 00:06:17 The birds don't sit in. You know what they were to FaceTime me. They would have thrown me out so quick if I FaceTime you during that thing. What song did he say? The auction going to start. Yo, it was just, it was a really, really cool night,
Starting point is 00:06:34 And it was very cool to see how they're preserving his artwork. And I'm just joking around. I was honored to be just invited to be in the room. And it was a cool experience. But handing me a paddle was a waste of wood and paper. That's fine. That could have went to somebody else. That's cool.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Baby Dee, how are you feeling? You good? I'm feeling good. You gave me a little bit of a cough, though. Like, my sinuses are messed up. Because it was you. You came in here fresh with them Toronto germs. And then literally the next day I woke up.
Starting point is 00:07:00 And I was like, I was sick in here too. And he's not here today. But that's not because he's, He's not here. He ain't here. And Ryan wasn't sick when he came here. He wasn't sick. No, he was tired.
Starting point is 00:07:10 He had worked all day. He was sick. He was coughing and all kind of shit. He told me he was sick. Well, you, it was from you. Ryan Germs not strong enough. He's, do you know where he's from? Don't do it.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Don't do it. Don't do it. Never mind. That was racist. My apologies. He took it there. You didn't. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:32 Well, I mean, you didn't. You're deflecting the way I did with COVID. in Atlanta. Like, you did come here sick. Yeah, I did. So, yeah, it was probably. So soon as day, I woke up with a little bit, a little tickle.
Starting point is 00:07:41 I was like, ah, what's this? Yeah, but I'm not in here sneezing and all of that, though. Like, I'm just congested. Yeah. So, so it's no, it's not. I'm not, I'm thinking I'm airborne right now. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:07:51 But it's sorry, though. But guess what, though? We all back sponsored by Boost Mobile. That is a fact. And we are now international! Yay! On Netflix. Please, please.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Please, now please stop DMing me asking me when you will be able to view us on Netflix across the oceans and the seven seas. Yes. You can now see us everywhere. International. Seven seas.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Yeah, because you know they'd be hitting us all over the seven seas. But now you can see us internationally on Netflix. Yes. So tune in to the gang, gang, gang, gang, gang. Merch is on sale now and patreon. com forward slash new glory.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Oh, shit. More. $5 for the month? Right? Yes. There's a $5 tier or $10 here and a $20 to. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:34 Okay, well then five. I mean, 20 gets the most. Yeah. 15. 30. 35. 45. 47.
Starting point is 00:08:44 They added that to Netflix, by the way. Yeah. I noticed that. I have not seen all about the Venjamins in so long. Oh, that's so cool. I don't watch that. Yeah. It's back on Netflix.
Starting point is 00:08:51 So you can watch this episode and then go right to go see Cube and Mike Epps clean up the streets of Miami. Anyone have weekend plans. Lex and Dre are in town. Poor Minds has a live show this weekend. I definitely want to check that out if I can be baby free. Just don't think that's the event to take a baby to. That's definitely not the event taking a baby to. But I do want to go. I know you want to go as well. Unless you want to use her as
Starting point is 00:09:12 bait. Not at a poor mind show. You don't want to use bait at a poor mind show. I'm just saying they're going to be in here. I would look like a responsible father. No, you would look like an irresponsible father. No, to them though. No, to the crowd, to the audience, would look irresponsible bringing a baby to a poor mind's live show. Yes. No. Okay. Okay. You can find anybody to watch a kid. Okay, cool. Maybe they'd feel bad. Oh, they would feel bad for the child. Yeah. For the baby having to be there.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Yes. They were like, why is this little? No, I'm not going to bring Amara to the poor mind show. But I do want to go. So hopefully when you guys are hearing this, me and Demaris will be at the show. If I, unless you have, are you out of town? No, I'll be at the show. Oh, you was already going and didn't tell me.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Yeah. That's crazy. I'm trying to get in there. Tickets be selling quick. You know, they get down. Well, they did just post that there's very few tickets left. I was just going to buy one because I didn't want to buy. bother them. Well, shout out to Lex and Dre. I'm proud of that Alex and Dreya.
Starting point is 00:10:08 I will see if I could be your plus one. They ain't got you on the list? I didn't ask. I'm sure they put me on there. Rory, what's up, Shabang? Yeah. You, okay, we're not going to start this. You are not about to just start adding to shabang to the end of every sentence. What's up, Shabang? How are you not on the list? Imagine I text, let you. Oh, is it space on the list? Sorry, last minute. She just replied Shibang.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Shabang. You know out on the list for Lexa Drey, man. I mean, I'm sure if I asked. Oh, you didn't ask them at all. You don't know what I'm supposed to? No, no, no. I wanted to make sure I was baby free before I. I didn't want to, like, waste a spot on the list.
Starting point is 00:10:46 That's why I was thinking about just buying a ticket. Where's they sure? It's at the town hall, which is a big venue. So congrats to them. That's really, really big. I was nervous to come in here today because I do hate to give mall flowers. I don't want them. Even when they're deserved.
Starting point is 00:11:02 but these are like, you didn't even have inside information. You were just Maul Stradamus and predicted this. And I have nothing to do but humble myself and say, Ma, holy shit. Keep them. You were right. Because I was here confidently arguing you down that there's no way that J.I.D. is mad at J. Cole.
Starting point is 00:11:23 They've had plenty of collapse together. The falloff was an experience about Cole's 20s and 30s, which Jid was really only around for some of it. it made more sense as a concept album that Jid would not be on it. You said the mixtape, I said, hey, it was a rollout moment, his mixtape, his clue moment.
Starting point is 00:11:40 I stand corrected. I think Jid is livid. So livid that those tweets for the time that I've known Jid, which has been for a little while, I wouldn't say we're best friends, are a bit out of his character. And when I do things out of my character,
Starting point is 00:11:57 it's usually because I'm pissed off. And that's not really, really jizz character. So that's why I want to give you another dandy line and say, I think he's fucking pissed, like really mad. Not even just irritated. Like, I think he's, he's pissed. I mean, you know, sometimes you just got to just, you know, it's not that I want flowers. I was not to say, taking flowers for conflict is a little nasty. I don't want flowers. But I mean, it just, just a little common sense sometimes. Just look at it. That was common sense. Yeah. One of the best rappers in the industry, he's signed to you.
Starting point is 00:12:34 He's currently Grammy nominated for a rap album of the year. He wasn't on Mike Delete later. He wasn't on the birthday. What's the name of the birthday mixtape? He wasn't on that. He wasn't on Fall Off. Just something just didn't feel right. That's all.
Starting point is 00:12:50 It was a lot of rapping happening. And the guy that signed to you who's nominated for Best Rap album isn't on not one of these last, let's say 30 songs. that you put out, 32 songs maybe? It just felt like something was not on the up and up. Because if you have a good rapport, like, you and your man is like, nah, we're solid. And he's currently nominated for the biggest award, per se, in music in our genre, which is best rap album of the year. I think you would take some of those 30-something songs that you put out to kind of showcase him just a little bit,
Starting point is 00:13:30 let him get his shit off. He's currently nominated for a big award. And when that didn't happen, I just kind of started looking like, and then Cole's not on his album. Well, again, which we chalked up to, he was probably busy working on fall off shit in the battle and everything that was, that was going on. But, all right, so this started with a series of now deleted tweets.
Starting point is 00:13:53 It didn't come out the gate. Might delete later. Of, yeah, ironically. He's on the album now. See, I felt, so if I delete this, maybe I'll get a verse. Yeah, now he's on. the album.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Shall you have put out their nominations, which we will get to. And J.I.D. tweeted five Grammy nominations, zero BETT nominations slash acknowledgement, nothing. They remix the same people every year at the BET Awards. Now, before we get to the cold part, do y'all feel like there's truth in what he's saying? Yes. About what? That the BETY awards tends to remix a lot of the same artists. Even if those artists aren't active, they still tend to be nominated for.
Starting point is 00:14:32 things over artists that are active that year. I can see that gripe. I feel like Chris Brown wins that one award every year. What award is that? Probably male R&B artists. No, like people's. People's Choice Award. It's not people's choice or something.
Starting point is 00:14:49 Something like that. I don't know. I feel like Chris Brown wins that every year. I mean, I know the voting system there and, you know, it is people that have been nominated, label people, journalists, media that have, you know, access to vote for the nominations. And sometimes I don't think it's BET per se.
Starting point is 00:15:07 I think it's the sheer laziness of the people that are able to vote. Myself included, I'll look at that list sometimes and go, there's 85 names on the shit in alphabetical order. I get five picks. It's going to take you four hours to get through everything to properly do it.
Starting point is 00:15:27 And I've done it before. Yeah. But I do think there's probably music industry execs and journalists and other people that can vote that are just getting everyone in the building to vote for their person at the moment because they don't particularly care about that category. And they're just clicking the name that's the biggest. And even if they're not in cycle, they'll do that. It's starting to feel like a popularity thing. I think the BT Awards are great. I think they put on a great award show every year. But I feel Jid on this as
Starting point is 00:16:00 far as if I was an artist in the nominations. Sometimes it does get, unless you have like a Leon Thomas year, that R&B category is going to tend to be the same. Yeah. Like even with Kailani will be not on a cycle year and still be nominated, which is great because she's Kailani, but I could see another artist being like,
Starting point is 00:16:21 this ain't the folded year. Yeah. Two years ago, I'm saying. Like, no, I think I had a good year. I deserve to at least be nominated. And I feel Jed. And I saw a few people saying a few artists that we've had on here before say that they've seen a trend in this specific type of artists that the BET Awards focuses on. And the type of content that they make and that Jid doesn't fall in line with that.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Yeah, but he put out a great album. No, he should be nominated. He was nominated for Best Rap album. You would think he would be nominated for a BET award. Yeah. They could have stole them right. Oh, I forgot it's voting, so you can't do that. So never mind.
Starting point is 00:17:05 I mean, I'll like, the Grammys is voting allegedly. No, but what I'm saying is you could have stole the Grammy picks, like, just to make it easier for itself, but they vote. Yeah. And I think from here, they'll have like the actual board of, but yeah, to get to the nomination point. It's the same link. You get the link too. Yeah. No, you're part of the problem.
Starting point is 00:17:21 No, I voted for Jed. I voted for. I did too. Yeah. Took me two days to get through everything. What, Jid was, Jid was on there for me a couple times. But. Wait,
Starting point is 00:17:31 Baby Kim is nominated and not Jid. Baby Kim deserves to be nominated. Numbers, tour, music. What tour? What tour? Baby Keem's tour was all over the internet. He did they had mosh pits. The Webster Hall shit, I thought the floor was going to fall.
Starting point is 00:17:49 I don't even remember that. Oh, yeah, I didn't see it. Okay, well, I'm telling you guys, for sure, Baby Keem's tour was very, very popular. He did great numbers. Is this based on last year? Yeah, whatever the month, it's not exactly January to December, but whatever they do the fucking like July to.
Starting point is 00:18:04 And not the shit on Baby Kim, but if Baby Kim is there, God, Jid has to be there. No, I think both of them should be there. If you don't have Keem or Jit, I think it's kind of a wash. Yeah. In my opinion. But do you, I mean, do you think that BT kind of only focuses on, I would say more of the Dirk Baby Gunna worlds when it comes to rap?
Starting point is 00:18:28 whereas maybe Grammys focuses more on Gibbs and like jid and that side. Do you think there's a split there? I'm not making that point. I'm asking. No, that's what a lot of people are saying on the internet. Yeah, but say what you want to say. I'm asking you a question. Do you think that's the case? So I think BET focuses on just popularity and the Grammy focuses on artistry. But I think Gunna is deserving of Grammys and BETT awards. I do too. But I'm saying that the type of music and the sound sonically. The artistry. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:59 I think the Grammy focuses more on that. So I looked up the eligibility period for the Big E.T Awards. It goes from mid-March to mid-March. So it will be mid-March 2025 to mid-March 206. Baby Kim released his album February 20th. I can see malls. I can understand where mall's coming from where that might not be fair, how you were the best male hip-hop artists of the year.
Starting point is 00:19:24 For one month? For one month. I can understand what Maw- But we've seen that with plenty of award shows where, an album will meet the deadline by one month and still get nominated. But it's the album, not the artist. True. But I mean, it still falls in the same thing.
Starting point is 00:19:40 An Keem had a lead up to that album. There was two singles video. Like, I still think Keem belongs up there. I'm not saying he don't. That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying he don't. Who was y'all? Okay, so if we have to do this when we do lists,
Starting point is 00:19:57 they have A-Sop Rocky, Baby King, Big X, the Plug, the Baby, Don Tolliver, Drake, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and T.I. All on this list. Who would y'all take out and replace with J.D? You said March 2025 to March 26? Yes. What are we in May? Yes.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Where are we trying to carry the two and all? Listen, Tia can sit down. Tiak can come sit right here. You know, you know, you know what's funny you said that? Come sit next to you. He said, no, why I was carrying the one is because I was trying to remember where the TI 50 thing was and where T. T.I's huge record right now landed.
Starting point is 00:20:32 because I was about to say take TI off, TI 2027 awards in there. So yeah, I'm on the TI side that Jid should be over TI there. But with everything TI has done in the past few months, he should be there next year, 100%. But to me, like, you don't think offset and Jid could perform bodies at the BET Awards
Starting point is 00:20:53 and then I'll make total sense. Yeah. Like, that's a huge record and lands in, I think, the sound that they typically awards. It's offset as well. Yeah, if I'm Jid, I would be livid. And I think there's that false stigma that a lot of artists don't support the BET Awards, but support the Grammys.
Starting point is 00:21:14 I can see why J. would be extra pissed. Like, I want to support the BET Awards. I'm happy to be Grammy nominated, but don't think I take this as just some JV shit. This is important to me. You all think ASAP had a bigger year than JAD? No. No. I don't.
Starting point is 00:21:33 I love Rocky's album, but no, I don't. A-Sop could go. But ASAP is one of those, like, legacy, like, when he does come out, it's, of course they should be there. I mean, I'm saying, like, he headlined every festival. I don't know. I was, I'm saying, did he headline rolling out of this shit? Yeah, like, I, because that's just going to look like, hey, if you say that, because Rocky is always consistent, even if it's with his back catalog, he still is up there.
Starting point is 00:21:55 Mm-hmm. And put out a great album within that time. But, I mean, I think you could find. out of all these nominations somewhere to acknowledge Jid and what he did in that time span. For sure. Because that's crazy. Like, that's really wild. Yeah, see, this goes back to why I see.
Starting point is 00:22:15 This is why I have an issue with J. Cole not. You think that would have got? Yo, why J. Cole not gave a spot up? He meant to put him on the album. Listen, listen. I know. If J. Cole, if J. Cole did with. Kendrick did for Keem.
Starting point is 00:22:32 If Jake holded that for Jid, he'd be right there in that conversation. Yeah. That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying. You got this platform. I'm your artist. I got Best Rap album. You can showcase me.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Put me out of front. That's a high. That's a high expectation. What Kendrick has done with Keem over the last few years with putting out videos Lucy's together, doing festivals. They did Camp Flagnan together. They did an entire one of the highest gross and tours ever together. Where Kean was not only the opener, he was on stage the whole motherfucking time.
Starting point is 00:23:09 He's been on. Why Cole can't do that with you? I'm just saying that most artists have a lot going on. And I think the big part of them being family helps as well because we would have been next to each other regardless. And I'm not saying it's a nepo thing. That's not true. We would have been next to each other regardless because it feels like I'm mad family. I'm not next to you.
Starting point is 00:23:28 You see on the on the damn tour before Baby King. Keem was even Baby Keem or an artist was sitting there engineering on the tour bus for Kendrick. Like I'm saying they are together all the time. It just so happens also that Baby Keem is a very talented artist and
Starting point is 00:23:43 Kendrick, yeah, come out of my wing. I'm launching PG Lang, which is just at that time one artist, and I'm launching my company with Dave free. It's me you and Dave. Jay Cole has 75 fucking artists on Dreamville. And only one of them is nominated for Best Rap album. I will say
Starting point is 00:24:00 I'm just saying he can't dedicate his life to running around the world. I didn't say he has to dedicate anything. With Keem and putting out one song. Or with J. With J.I.D. One record. I didn't say take that thing around the world. You know, you said what Fender did for King. One song I'm with you, but they've collaborated before.
Starting point is 00:24:16 But I hear you. That's why JIDD ain't nominated for a BET or more. You don't fuck with, you don't fuck with J. Well, that's a weird conclusion. With the people, with the people they have on here, I don't think that Jid, even if he would have gotten a cold feature. sure he would have been on here. As I'm looking at these names, I feel like they just be on Twitter and just picked up
Starting point is 00:24:37 whoever had the most conversation about them and whoever's a favorite. Where's Waleigh? Don't even get me started. Where's Wai L'A? But that's what I'm saying. It's like, once we finish this Jid conversation, I was going to get right into the Wild A conversation. Well, let's say, what we, what are we doing here?
Starting point is 00:24:52 You know what I'm saying? Let's finish the conversation about what did. Ryan, you walk like an elephant. You got a hooty-hoo when you walk in here. Niggas say something. Yeah, say something. Say I'm here. Something.
Starting point is 00:25:01 I just see somebody in the mirror. I'm like, who that? Let's, we're going to circle back on the BET Awards and all of their nominations. We did jump ahead, but we can talk about J.I.D.'s tweet about Cole's line about him in 99 Bill Freestyle and what we think it could possibly mean. He said, um, Jay Cole said it best or whatever when he, because somebody must have said something. He must have said something and then, oh no, I'm sorry. He was talking about the BET Awards and how he didn't get nominated. Somebody retweeted it and said.
Starting point is 00:25:30 Jay Cole said it best and he's referring to the line that if hip hop is back J. ID should chart platinum anything less than that. It means y'all cap'n. J.D. then responds to that person that says, nigga ain't say shit. I've been overly platinum. That bar was ass. That's what J.I.D. said. Whichly and it was a- gave you, you want more flowers? I can't afford them. No. It was, it's a now deleted tweet. He deleted the tweet. But that leads me to believe that they are not in a good space because even if that even if even if we just weren't on each other's albums
Starting point is 00:26:02 whatever that tweet that has some spice to it there's definitely an issue there so yeah I told you was an issue before you did you know you told me it was weird he wasn't on there you didn't say it was an issue but that's what it means if I'm not on nothing with you and you're not on nothing with me and I'm signed
Starting point is 00:26:18 and I'm best rap album nominated it's something we ain't for we ain't not rocking with each other it's okay to say it they're not rocking with each other the bar was ass part is the sass to it because he could really say like that bar doesn't make sense because I have
Starting point is 00:26:34 had platinum records before. Not a platinum album but platinum records and that's not the case. You could say that the bar was misleading but when you say his ass yet you got you got some issues. Yo Jee, call me man. It's the nigga ain't say shit. Like, nigga ain't say shit. Yeah, it's static.
Starting point is 00:26:51 Yeah. And what you want to do? You ain't picked that up in what he said right there and what you want to do about it. I want to get in the booth because we could do that. I'm just saying, y'all said I was crazy for saying. I could, yo, I could look at it and I could tell, like, y'all not really banging with each other like that. You can see it. They're not really rocking with each other like that.
Starting point is 00:27:13 Do you have a theory as to why? I mean. All speculation. All speculation. We seen Ari wasn't happy with Dreamville and what they done, right? She's no longer there, correct? Mm-hmm. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Maybe he's the next person on that list of, being happy over at Dreamville. Yeah. That's all simple. And when you don't see them working together, if you have the platform of J-Cold, right, and you have your label, your imprint, and then you sign artists, and then now one of your artist is Grammy-nominated, that would be the time where you showcase that artist. Because then that helps the label look, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:27:50 Like, yo, they got some shit over there. One of the homies is Grammy-nominated right now. So when you don't see that, it's like, why not? Jid is super fire. He's like, oh, no, but he had future on the hook. Jid does melodies he does. So he does all of that shit. He can't get a hook somewhere.
Starting point is 00:28:07 He can't get an ad lit behind something. Like, just little three bars, like, just get Jid in there. Like, just something that says, yo, this is my, this is my, this is my gunner right here. This is my, my artist. He's super ill. He's super lit. Let me share some of my platform with him. Even though everybody already knows that he's J. Cole's artist.
Starting point is 00:28:25 But, like, let me remind you. how dope he is, though. He's not just my artist. He's super ill. This nigga's nice. Like, I'm just saying it's just something didn't look and feel right to me about that. Like, wait, he's not on nothing.
Starting point is 00:28:39 Like, might delete later. The birthday mixtape, the album. He's not on Jid album. Nothing? Yeah, I ain't got in that. And then somebody told me on online, yo, nah, they got a whole album together. Like, watch, it's going to drop.
Starting point is 00:28:51 Cool. This is the rollout? Yeah, if they got a whole album together, can we can't get one song on an album? Dreamville is too good. rollouts to use this type of rollout. Yeah, like, come on, man. But I'm sure they probably have enough music. Do they? Together on a hard drive for the, for the amount of years. I don't know, man.
Starting point is 00:29:07 I'm not saying that they both may not think it's up to part. Well, to be fair, rappers rap together all the time and shit never makes it. It was J.I.D. who said that him and Cole recorded a 15-track joint album. He said that in August of 2025. Okay. Oh, he did say that. Okay. Well, this shit, they got album together. Why didn't draw? I mean, anytime I've seen this in the past, an artist is signed to another artist that runs the label, they usually feel like they're being mishandled. And I've seen the artist be right and I've seen the artist be wrong.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Sometimes you're not being mishandled. You just don't know what you're doing. And sometimes you are truly being mishandled and neglected at that label because we're focusing on the head of the label, who's the biggest rapper. So, yeah, I think he just feels like he's being mishandled. That's what I've seen any time over when this happens. That's why it's always tough to sign to an artist that is like a huge artist.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Yeah, you got to wait. You got to wait. A whole album cycle is now cut up, is not available for you. Yeah. Like, and if I get in the studio and I get like two records that are crazy, nine times out of ten, you're going to want one of those for your project. Yes, like, damn, that was my record. But what you're going to say?
Starting point is 00:30:11 Like, okay, cool. You know what I mean? So it's a, it's a gift and a curse with that. You know what I mean? And I just think that somewhere along the line, this relationship kind of like ran its course. Mm-hmm. And Jid is probably like, yo, you know what? I think I'm just better going.
Starting point is 00:30:27 someone else and doing my own thing. Not being under this artist because it's like, yo, it's always going to be him first. And, you know, you get to a point where you like, yeah, man, like, you know, I'm, I feel like I'm just as nice as you. It gets to that point too sometimes.
Starting point is 00:30:44 Yeah, I was signed years ago. I was a little bro and all of that. Little Bro was Grammy nominated for Rap album of the Year. I mean, now that... I feel like I could get my shit off. Now that everything has passed from 2024 with the big three, they've all put albums out. I think this could be the cool time where they release more music.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Like, I don't see why Cole, I know he said he was retired, but I don't see why he wouldn't want to put out. Maybe it's not 15 tracks, maybe it's seven. Maybe we throw out a quick J-Code J-D EP real quick, in between Jid's album cycle. They're at that point now. At this point, all three of them should put out as much music as they want. No more this waiting game of who's going to say what because of the beef.
Starting point is 00:31:25 Put out as much music as possible. Why can't Cole just put the jid shit up? I don't think there's a point now where every, the three of them have to be so particular in every move that they make, in every look that they give, because all three of them have put out the post beef album. Of course, there'll probably be little shots, whatever, but for the most part, we are all past that. Put out a bunch of music.
Starting point is 00:31:51 Well, I'm sure that that album not coming out has nothing to do with that. I think it has everything to do with that. I don't because if that's the case that I don't think Giz says that nigga that shit was ass. There's an issue with them. Oh, no. I think two things are true. I think he thinks that bar was ass and he feels away.
Starting point is 00:32:08 But also that didn't come out the same way. The French verse that Drake didn't clear didn't come out. This is not the time. Everyone is on pins and needles of everything about to say I need to be strategic. We would have dissected that J. Cole and J.I.D. album to the last fucking syllable. And it was probably recorded before the, or no, it was after the beep. But yeah, we would have been waiting to see
Starting point is 00:32:30 what he was about to say about everybody else. Yeah. It would have been a waste. But now that it's past, why can't you put out a seven track joint, would you? And call it even. I would love to hear it.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Get in the room, and I'm not saying this as a shot. Cole has been very vocal about not wanting the confrontation and making sure everything's cool. I'm sure he cares about his artists, even if it hasn't shown in the past to them. Yeah, squash it and put out music. I would love to hear it. We're waiting for it if anybody's listening.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Shabang. Out there in the ether. Jesus Christ. Is this going to be a thing? This is going to be a thing. I'm sorry. All year. I got a Tourette's.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Sorry. What's your favorite song today? Today? Today. Still Janice. Okay. I'm going to check in with you every day and see if it changes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:18 Yeah, I'm still feeling Janice. Okay. Janice and Shabang still. It's my shit right there. Okay. I'm saying? Why are you laughing? Yo, it's the way you said it.
Starting point is 00:33:31 I'm laughing at the two of you. That's my shit right there. There's more Janice still, yeah. No. Maul, I have not told you this before, but Boost Mobile is proving that you don't have to overpay for great wireless. Prove it to me.

Starting point is 00:34:55 the announcers calling the place soccer, football, at home. Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me, why do I breed? I inherited that fandom from my mom. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots.
Starting point is 00:35:23 We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great. A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture. I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull. It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though. Are they the only ones that don't like that?
Starting point is 00:35:41 Nobody likes that. As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American football as part of the My Coutura podcast network, available on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Hoda Kotby, host of the podcast, Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby. Together, we're going to have meaningful conversations with the world's most fascinating people. Like when actress Olivia Munn shared how she overcame fierce health challenges. I've gone through breast cancer and then helped my mother through breast cancer,
Starting point is 00:36:16 and that was more difficult. There's a lot of people who understand postpartner depression. I was not prepared for postpartum anxiety. Listen to Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, listen up. The Jonas Brothers here. Our podcast is called, Hey Jonas. since everyone has a podcast, we wanted to as well.
Starting point is 00:36:35 And we've had some incredible guests so far. And now our good friend, Nile Horn, is joining the show. How's it going, boys? Hey, Niall. It was the same thing with Slow Hands. Slow Hands is not about anything else, really, is it? You know, or taste so good can be about food. You do the same, Nick, with some of the stuff that you've done.
Starting point is 00:36:50 You too, Joe. Drop what you're doing and listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcasts. You're the Lupe Shabang Freestyle then? I sort of video but I didn't listen to it. Shout out to Lupe. He was performing. I wasn't sure if it was a show, festival, what it was.
Starting point is 00:37:16 But he forgot the lyrics to Kick Push 2, which I mean, I give you a pass. I love Kick Push 2, but it's not one that I feel like he would perform all the time. And I saw Lupe perform at Rock the Bell's cruise and I came in here and said, was blown away by his performance. He's a really, really good performer at the ability that you are rapping at that level and your show is like that. He says something. So, yeah, I wouldn't boom for forgetting the kick push lyrics. Then I'd have like a little bit of an issue for what I paid.
Starting point is 00:37:49 But kick push two, nah. But he started talking to the crowd that, you know, it's y'all fault. Y'all wouldn't download it all this music on Limewire. We should be in fucking stadiums. I'm forgetting this shit because y'all downloaded it and it never came out. Because kick push two never really came out. Yeah. like it had to leak because it was on line wire
Starting point is 00:38:06 and he's like of course I don't perform this y'all leaked it it's not a song right well then nigga that still ain't our fault why you got it on the set list the fuck you don't want this sound check niggil like why you're blaming us I let you know what I am always fascinated at how artists
Starting point is 00:38:22 especially rappers because there's so many more words with rap how they can remember all of those verses yeah like when they had a show that shit always fascinates me like even if you wrote it and it's just shit it's like for you to go out there and perform that and remember every word
Starting point is 00:38:38 for two hours but their fans be sending up their singing every word with them and their fans didn't write it yeah but they have breath control they're performing it's different when I'm performing it yeah like I'm performing it like you could take seconds off and start recording me and talking to your friend and I'm
Starting point is 00:38:55 actually still having to rap these entire records on stage like that's always been fascinating to me with rap it like great rappers that can perform, like the fact that you can memorize all of those lyrics and the timing of it and everything, like... At the level that Lupe wraps.
Starting point is 00:39:11 Yeah. And I'm telling you, at the show, you can hear every word, like, it's like you're listening to the record. Yeah. It's incredible what he does. But I laughed when he said that as far as, like, as y'all fucking fault, would download the music. And I feel for Lupe because his specific generation, pre-blog era,
Starting point is 00:39:27 they got hit the hardest with the shit. When they signed the majors, they had to deal with leaks, I think, worse than anybody. Of course it was a thing in the early 2000s. But that mid-2000s shit and then iTunes was hitting, CD stores was fucked, LimeWire was going crazy, Kazah was going crazy.
Starting point is 00:39:43 Lupa's generation got this worse than anyone. Because the generation after learned to adjust. Fuck it. We'll give him free mix tapes. And hopefully we can sell the album. He was like, yo, this is my single. It's on LimeWire. So I feel for that that gap, that like 2003
Starting point is 00:40:00 to six, I feel for those guys a lot, seven maybe. But I laughed at it. I didn't know he was going to get killed on the internet to the point that he had to reply. And even in the freestyle, he was like, Rob, it wasn't that serious. Oh, he really does.
Starting point is 00:40:16 I thought you were joking. No, he wrapped up with Chabang. He really has a Chabang freestyle. I'm going to have to check that out. Yeah, it's good too. He's just addressing the entire thing. But yeah, Lupe. Do y'all think Lupe could have like a comeback?
Starting point is 00:40:27 Or do you think like it's like legacy? His fans will always be his fans? Because he's been really. consistent. Come back into mainstream is what I say. When I say come back, it's always as far as mainstream. Not because he's,
Starting point is 00:40:39 he can't. Because he doesn't want it. He's never going to want it. Yeah, you don't want that. No. He can still put out. He puts out great album. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:45 Yeah. He's in, again, he was in that system that sucked and, you know, he was outside Atlantic protesting. Like, he's done with that,
Starting point is 00:40:54 that world. And I'm sure happy about it. But don't get it to us. And he can still out rap 99%. Oh, for shit. 99.99%. Yeah. For sure.
Starting point is 00:41:03 And I mean, he puts out, he's active. Like, every year you get a Lupe project. Every other year at minimum. So shout out to Lupe. I just thought that was funny, yelling at your own fans. Is your fault? You should be in stadiums. And I feel them.
Starting point is 00:41:19 Definitely. But I was 15, Lupe. If you were 15, you would have downloaded your shit too. Oh, no. He understands it. He gets that. Like, you remember the Andre, 3000, What a Jobverse on the Devin the Dude album? Where he's addressing all.
Starting point is 00:41:32 legal downloads, like if I came to your job and took your corner of the car, would you be all right with it? Cool. So, yeah, I, like, totally understand what Andre 3000 was saying. Now that I'm an adult and, like, in business. Yeah. But as a kid, I'm, like, download. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:41:49 But also, in that moment, I don't think that they're talking to the 15-year-old kids. No, but we are, we were the ones that were doing it the most. Yeah, I mean, that we were the ones on the internet. Even, like, I think Metallica was probably like the first. band that was anti-Napster. I think they even got Napster, like shut down. And I remember as a kid, like, everyone calling, like, you're whining,
Starting point is 00:42:12 you fucking whiny millionaires. But it's like, dude, imagine if you had a bunch of t-shirts in your house and you was going to sell them for $10. And then they stole them and went, what's the problem? Right. Makes sense. I get it. What's your issue?
Starting point is 00:42:25 I totally get it. I understand it. But kids are going to download shit. That's a fact. Adults too. Yeah, illegally. We're going to download some shit now. but also support as well.
Starting point is 00:42:34 Yeah. The new version of that to me is buying the project on iTunes. Like streaming, of course, Penny. But yeah. Yeah, I buy my friend's stuff. Yeah, if it's an artist I really support, I'm going, even though I'm probably going to listen to it
Starting point is 00:42:45 on streaming and not download the version. I bought your album. I appreciate that, man. I said, I think. Hold on. Okay. It counts as 1,500 streams. So thank you.
Starting point is 00:42:55 It does? Yes. You had to listen to it 1500 times. I think I, yeah, I think I bought your album, too. Oh, yeah, I bought it. But that's clearly. not affecting Don Tolliver. Oh, yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:43:06 He's cracked the code. Octane is the first 2026 rap album to sell over one million copies. I need more flowers. Actually, I don't. Fuck it. Fuck y'all in the flowers.
Starting point is 00:43:14 For like a Don Tolliver? Woo. Aren't you different? Now we're just, now we're downloading flowers. We're stealing them. I told y'all three months ago. This nigga was the hottest.
Starting point is 00:43:25 Y'all looked at me like, nah. I don't know. Imagine it was Demaris. She was like, I went somewhere that they didn't play no Don't know. First of all, I never said that Don't. Talover wasn't hot at all.
Starting point is 00:43:34 I never said that. No, I didn't. She did. Okay. That's what I said. That's what I said, Peach. Did she say that? That's what I said, Peach.
Starting point is 00:43:42 Then she said that. You guys just came from burgers and bottles. I said that I didn't hear Don Tolover. I never said Don Tolover wasn't hot. I never said that. What happened was, you said, no, which happened was, Don Tyler, I think on the list was eight. And out of the seven people or something that was ahead of him or I don't know how far
Starting point is 00:44:00 down he was. you said out of all seven of those people take Jay Cole you could take Jay Cole out and put Don Tyler there that is where you got flak for me because I was like at the time that they did the eligibility period j Cole was extremely hot because it was literally the roll out in the release of the fall off that's what I said I never said down tolliver wasn't hot and he didn't deserve to be in the list of the top hottest rappers never said that so if you're going to quote me quote me right we're going to find the clip okay then find it and I don't want to see you put your billy jean shoes on to start moonwalking not
Starting point is 00:44:30 I don't, my nigger. I don't, never do. I remember all my takes to you. I'm sick of all you niggas moonwalking. Fuck you, Tomo. Michael came out now. All you niggas know how to moonwalk all of a sudden. I'm sick of this shit.
Starting point is 00:44:40 Anyway, though. Saturday, I open the sunroof and we can put on Don't Oliver and shoot a video. No, put that other shit on. Don't start. I just said put that other shit on. I know what you're getting at. I'm saying, I'm saying, I'll start. So I said, put that other shit on.
Starting point is 00:44:53 Was there any other B.T. award nominees that you wanted to talk about? I mean, I don't know if that's too compelling to live. listeners just go through shit. No, shout out to Don Tolliver, man. A million, a million records sold. Yeah, definitely congratulations. Congratulations, Don Tolliver. Congratulations to the entire team over there.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Octane is phenomenal. If Octane didn't come out, I don't know what the hell I would have been listening to for the last however many months. But, yeah. So, Wale, going into what you said about the BET Awards, Wale is nominated. Everything is a lot is nominated for an album of the year. But he's not nominated.
Starting point is 00:45:30 for Best Male Hip Hop Artist. How watching us with Leon Thomas, that's nominated, right? Or I'm gonna start going on Walee and Leon Thomas watching us. It's a fucking smash record.
Starting point is 00:45:43 That should be a number one record. Well, I'll check that. We're looking at album of the year first. So let me give me a second. I'm about to get on a Walee rant, if that's the case. Give me a second. We're still at the album of the year.
Starting point is 00:45:54 Don't tap the glass. Tyler, everything is a lot. Waleigh, let God sort them out. Clips, the fall off. Heart sold separately. Demaris the scientist Mutt deluxe Leon Thomas The Romantic Bruno Mars
Starting point is 00:46:05 Am I the drama Cardi B You guys know how I feel about Tyler But that can go And Jid should be in that slot Other than that I think this is a cool
Starting point is 00:46:16 Cool list So Baby Kim isn't on here Actually most of the people that were nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist Are not on here But I'm fine with the deluxe stuff because because mud deluxe is like a whole new album but that's going to start getting fucking tricky.
Starting point is 00:46:40 Like we got to, I feel like someone should flag that. Yeah. Because it's going to be a cheat code like SISA SOS should be like Rami nominated like now because it's another 32. Like, yeah, that's, and then it's going to add to the streams and the numbers, which is going to give it merit to then be nominated to get, like, I just think it's, it's unfair to a lot of artists. I don't know if Deluxe's should be eligible for album of the year. Songs of the year, I think it's totally fine because they're new songs, but that's such a cheat code because, like, he could do a third one and it's going to be great. It's just going to be mutt for three years straight. What you guys is, uh, vote?
Starting point is 00:47:18 Who's your vote? By the Amitya? By the am I. You gonna go Waleh tomorrow? Um. I mean, out of these with just the impact. But let God sort them out. The Mutt deluxe is like, come on.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Mudd was incredible. Yeah, it's not fair. Let's let's take Mutt out to be fair. Let's take Mudd out. And who do you guys vote? But doesn't, uh, Cardi's gonna win? Doesn't SOS Lana fall in this?
Starting point is 00:47:43 Hmm? The deluxe of SOS. Lanna came out like two years ago, boo. No, it was, it's in my R&B albums. of 2025. Wait, what, what, what month did it come out of 2025? Probably a year ago. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:59 Like, probably like March. Oh, no, it came right at the end of 2024. Yeah, I was like that. The last day. The last day. Yeah, okay. Fair enough. Yeah, I'd go clips.
Starting point is 00:48:12 Like, I'd storm out at all these. Yeah. But no, that, the mutt deluxe is nuts. But yeah, I think, I mean, Cardi, Cardi made a crazy splash with that, with that album. It's going to, from the, from the award show that it is, Cardi is going to win. Yeah, I'm not mad at that. All right, let's look at Best Male R&B slash pop artist.
Starting point is 00:48:34 Brent Fias, Bruno Mars, Bryson Taylor, Chris Brown, Duran, Renar, Givion, Leon Thomas, October, London, Usher. Out the gate, I'm still with Leon. You're going to Liam? For the cycle that that's there. Okay. I mean, I get why Chris is here because his tour was like one of the. craziest things ever, but Brown didn't make that cycle. Did he put out much music in between? He put out the record with, with Brent. And I think that was it, right? And that cycle?
Starting point is 00:49:04 Yeah, I'm pretty sure. I'll double sure. But I mean, the tour alone, I'm not mad at the nomination. But did I say Brent? I meant Bryson. You said Brent, yeah. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I meant Chris put out a record with Bryson. That was huge. But you can make a case for Bryce and I had a great ear as well. I just think Leon checked all the boxes for that cycle. Grandma, wish you vote. It's almost unfair whenever Chris is there, man. But if he didn't, if you put out one song in the tour, like I just feel like Leon put out so much music,
Starting point is 00:49:38 featured on so many people's stuff, he's been on tour the entire time. Personally, I mean, I'll go, I probably, me, when I listen to, the most probably was Brent. Okay. Out of everybody up here, Brent and Bryson. Duran Bernard's album was crazy, though. Really good.
Starting point is 00:49:56 Givion had a good project. October London had a good project. This is a tough category, honestly. This might be the toughest. I wouldn't be mad at them giving it to Duran, honestly. To Duran Bannar? I wouldn't be mad at it. His album was dope.
Starting point is 00:50:11 But yeah, whenever you have somebody up there like a Chris Brown, though, and, you know, to what Jid is saying, it's kind of like that, it's like... Yeah, but it's for the year, though. His voter's fatigue, you know what I'm saying? Someone's like Michael Jordan should have won MVP every year he played, right? But you can't give it to Michael Jordan every year, even though he probably is the best play in the league every year. Chris Brown's probably the best male R&B pop artist every year, even if he's not putting out an album or say he's just touring. If he's just touring and selling out stadiums, it's like.
Starting point is 00:50:40 So then what's the criteria? If an album is not required, what makes you the best of that year? What did you do better than people? So you sold out, you toured better than people. That's it. Yeah, that's a big it. I mean, of course. Of course, but is that the only criteria.
Starting point is 00:50:57 That's what I'm saying. It's that the only criteria. I mean, not the only, but that's a major part of it. When you see me selling out stadiums, like, it's hard to say anybody's a better male R&B pop artist than me. You know what I'm saying? Hey, but that's just one thing. Leon, of course, didn't do stadiums, but he was on toward that entire cycle with huge
Starting point is 00:51:17 venues around the entire world. For sure. And then he had a better problem. Plus the deluxe plus feature, like, I just think he checks more boxes than Chris does in that regardless. No, I'm, I'm with you. Like I said, me personally, I would, my, my vote would be Brent, me personally. Why would your vote be Brent?
Starting point is 00:51:33 Because of his, his project? No, his project was incredible. Same. Okay. This project was incredible. So you, okay. But I'm just saying it's hard whenever we put Chris Brown there. It's like, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:51:45 It's like, here come this nigga. You know what I'm saying? Like, ah, damn, who the fuck is beating Chris in a, in a category? You know what I'm saying? But. Did Brent's album? Brent's album. I just made it.
Starting point is 00:51:57 February 13th, 2026. Yeah. Just made it. Dejohn, I feel like I know you guys aren't a huge fan of him, but his album, Baby, was my favorite last year, and he wrote a majority of Justin Beaver's. Dejaon? Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:11 He had an incredible R&B pop album last year and wrote almost all of both those Justin Beaver albums. Like, I'm not saying he should win, but like a nomination I would understand. Okay. That would be my only add-on in air, but... So you're going Leon, you're going Chris, and I'm going Leon. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Okay. We can quickly do the female R&B pop artists. Anybody want to go Bruno? We can quickly do the best female R&B pop artists. Not this year. You're hating. Ari Lennox, Coco Jones, LMA, Jill Scott, Kailani, Mariah the Scientist, Olivia Dean, Siza, Thames. I'm leaning towards Kailani.
Starting point is 00:52:56 Kaylani should win. That's the first one out the gate that I'm thinking. They sleep in our Ella, though. I ain't going to too much lie to you, but Kaylani should win. Tim's? I was either going to know Kaylani or Tim's. Yeah, I think I'm going to go Tim's. That's him.
Starting point is 00:53:14 I ain't a lie, Olivia Dean, though. Well, she swept in, like, the world. Olivia Dean. We call her anything R&B now? You don't think Olivia Dean is R&B? I don't think Olivia. Well, it's R&B pop. Tim's has a R&B pop.
Starting point is 00:53:28 Okay. Yeah, no. Look at D. Tim's, Tim's is, even in that category, R&B pop. Tim's a,
Starting point is 00:53:33 ah. Tim's makes a lot of different types of, yes. And it's more Afro beats than R&B. And I love Tim's album. I listen to, I listen to Tim's almost as much as Mariah. Records.
Starting point is 00:53:44 Like, Afro beats is pop. Yes. Tim's got one of the best R&B records of the year. Yes, for sure. For sure. But the album is not completely R&B. It's not even really half R&B. Like,
Starting point is 00:53:55 it has. R&B elements, but I would consider my I'm saying pop. Like Olivia Dean and Thames I think they're there. For Olivia Dean pop makes sense, yes. Yeah. And Thames too, I think that sound is fucking, when you have Ed Shearons like strumming away to Afro beats, it's pop music now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:14 Olivia Dean had a huge year, but I don't think they're going to give it to her. But she had a huge year. The only, B.T. is going to give it to Kaylani. I mean, I think it should go to her. Yes. That's my opinion. But. The folded is like, what you're going to do with that? Kaylani had one hell of a year.
Starting point is 00:54:31 I think they're going to give it to her, but Olivia Dean would be a strong contender. I don't like them combining R&B and pop. I think that's extremely lazy. I hate that. But I also get it with time. Like how much time you have to shoot the award show. I guess you could do ones off camera. Okay.
Starting point is 00:54:50 They still doing video to year. People still watch videos? Yeah. Oh, yeah. There is no song of the year. award now, which is interesting. Of all the things you could take away. So what did they replace it with?
Starting point is 00:55:05 I don't think so. They probably just took it away. That's crazy. How do you just take away song of the year? I kind of get that, though. Song of the year. I mean, folded? No.
Starting point is 00:55:19 We'll be the song of the year. Because I'm sure that there were bigger songs than, like, that's what I get, I get getting, I get wanting to get rid of songs. of the year because you have to then include so many categories. Well, albums is already hard to narrow it down to eight, nine. But then with songs, oh, video of the year isn't stand for, is the closest for it, would be video of the year. But that doesn't, you have a terrible song and a great video.
Starting point is 00:55:42 Yeah. That doesn't mean anything. So video of the year is supposed to be substituting for song of the year? No. It's not. That was a mispeak on my part. But yeah, I feel like how are you going to pick, like, from every single category of genre, pick one song of the year?
Starting point is 00:55:56 I feel like that's tough to do. Even the Grammys has Song of the Year and record of the year. One acknowledges like impacting all of those things and one acknowledges writing. Yeah. I'll be tuning in and I know the Hip Hop Awards
Starting point is 00:56:11 are no longer here with us but we could add the Cyphers in 2024. Rest in peace to the BETT Hip-Hip Award. It's along with us. I think you could still take the greatest thing from that, which was the Cyphers and add it to the BET awards because I think the Internet
Starting point is 00:56:25 cares about that. Even if you get some rappers up there that can't rap, it'll still be a moment. And that could be a cool way to get legacy involved in some of that or some of the rappers, rappers, rappers, like to make a well-rounded show. Yeah. If they're not going to be nominated, let them rap. Yeah. Let did you do a J-Code disc record in the BT Cipher.
Starting point is 00:56:51 But the so the people who, I think the ciphers, the people who would allow themselves to go and actually be in the ciphers can't really rap like that. The niggas that can really rap, don't be trying to do them cyphers. So, I guess agree. If you had all the people that- All the rappers did the ciphers before.
Starting point is 00:57:06 Before, I'm talking about now, it's in this day. Yeah, last year I saw y'all roll Brandy out the last year or something shit. Brandy started rap. Don't do that. It was brandy, it was a couple people. It was a couple of people. Brandy did a good job.
Starting point is 00:57:17 And I was still cool, though, is what I'm saying. I get what they was trying to do. Her, her. I think her had a verse. But her can rap. Yeah, but I'm cool. All right. But if you see, all right, have on the radar host it.
Starting point is 00:57:29 Like, you see the amount of people that could actually rap that go up to what's not now LA leakers, but leakers on the radar. Like, it's clearly you can see the views of people that are rapping, rapping. Let on the radar host it. There's rappers that want to rap. Yeah, but then y'all going to want to put all the fentanyl young rappers on there. They are going to want to because that's what's going to get them the views. That's the thing. That's what we.
Starting point is 00:57:52 I mean, did you just see what Gabe did with that? who's next cipher for on the radar? It was seven incredible lyricists. Like, they exist. But that's not going to get ratings. They care about,
Starting point is 00:58:03 not even ratings. That's not going to give viewers. That's why I said balance it with the people that can't rap. Okay. Let's make a spectacle and laugh. And then let's see some people wrap. Shout Corey Guns.
Starting point is 00:58:12 He got a dope cipher right now, one train ciphers. Corey guns went nuts on me. Yeah, he went crazy on that. Yeah. Shout to Corey. Yeah, shit.
Starting point is 00:58:20 Corey Guns up there. Yeah. I ain't mad at that. But I just don't know if it's at the BETT Awards. I mean, but I get it. Anyways. Get the nominees right first and foremost. Let's start there.
Starting point is 00:58:31 Get the nominees right. Because Wiley should be nominated. Well, he's got some in there. But now that I know song in the year isn't there, I feel less upset about watching us. But yeah, I saw this tweet yesterday. Walee put up a video and
Starting point is 00:58:48 what's that? Lost in Vegas 83 asked a really good question. Who is Wiley's rap ancestor? He's always sounded like his own thing to me. What rap family tree does he belong to such a creative, authentic talent that needs to be appreciated more for his contributions? I completely agree. I don't know if Walee really has one. And I think that's in part to being from the DMV where there's not a long lineage of popular hip-hop. Because when he came out, he was rapping 100 miles, he was rapping on go-go beats. Of course he didn't sound like anyone. No one had
Starting point is 00:59:20 wrapped on go-go beats. But yeah, I think him being Nigerian, his accent, and from the DMV. I don't know who, like, we've never really seen that before. Well, some people put some suggestions in there. He got a couple answers where it's like Q-Tip. He has an A-Z, a black thaw. I mean. He has a little bit of lyrical Y Club. Nause, Lauren, Andre. I mean, no, he raps at a high level. I just don't like, I don't like hear A-Z when I hear. They're both incredible lyricists. I just don't hear Walee when I hear A-Z. Everybody is saying Q-Tip
Starting point is 00:59:56 and Lauren. You're a tribe. Yeah, I can hear tribe. Tip for sure. And again, yeah, he's a lyrical Whitecliff. More than I think Lauren. But yeah, that makes sense. That was a cool question, though. Yeah. I like when there's healthy rap questions. Yeah, Fugis, for sure.
Starting point is 01:00:13 In the pockets that he uses. Fred of the show, Ray Daniels, who we've had up here, had one of the wildest predictions. And I love Ray. And sometimes I know Ray's trolling, but I kind of felt like he believed this one. Some people said believe a lot of the things that they say, Roy. Said Jay is going to disdrake and there'll be a back and forth.
Starting point is 01:00:33 He said he's going to put out an album. Not that he's going to give a little acopella shot at Yankee Stadium. Yeah, but he said Jay going to put out an album. Yeah, but Ray also said it was over for Drake. He also said it was over for Drake. Did he? Yeah, he said that. He was pumping that heavy.
Starting point is 01:00:48 I thought he came up here. complimented him. No. He said it's over for Drake. He said that. He was running around for over a year saying that. But didn't he come on this couch and say that music has been missing without him? And I thought he complimented Drake. I felt like you're back and forth. He even admitted humbly that you put things in perspective for him. I know what he was saying for a year before he came up here. That's what I'm saying. He was very loud about it being over for Drake. Over. I'm like, you know, okay. I don't think Jay is going to just discreet though. I don't see that.
Starting point is 01:01:20 So one thing that we didn't really cover in our last episode and we caught a lot of flack for it is what I'm sure he's responded to or even saying this is because there were allegedly a lot of Jay Z shots on Iceman. Jig is up. That people assumed were about the shots.
Starting point is 01:01:37 I mean, I guess it depends your definition of shots. He definitely addressed Hove and gave him a few little elbows, in my opinion, based off putting Kendrick on the Super Bowl. But he said, I'll take the 500, I'll take the 500K, not the dinner. I never could learn shit from none of y'all. That's in regards to the 500K or dinner with Jay-Z where you could learn from him and become a
Starting point is 01:02:03 mogul instead of- That's a shot? No. But saying I could never learn shit from y'all, it's an elbow. It's a, we're in the paint and we're going for a rebound and I give you an elbow. It's not a flavorant. It's just, I'm going up for the rebound. Okay. That's all that is. And then there was the, we know how you OGs are rocking already. The jig is up.
Starting point is 01:02:28 That's a shot? It's an elbow in the paint. So where's the shots? Okay, there was also, do you remember on fear? When he said, I'll never, I never cry when Pock died, but I probably will when Hove does. And I'll drop a tear for every single thing he showed us. And then in the videos for the stream, he's at a grave and he has one tier. So the fans are alleging that compared to that line in there in the video
Starting point is 01:02:57 that he's suggesting that he could never learn shit from Hove, didn't learn shit from Hove. Now he's at the grave. And he was going to drop a tear for every single thing that Hove showed us. Y'all, y'all be there. Y'all be doing too much. I feel like that's right. I didn't write this presentation. I know.
Starting point is 01:03:13 I said y'all, meaning like whoever said that, they're doing too much. No. Okay, but you do think it's a little lyrical elbows on. I don't, yeah, I think that the, I'll take the 500K not the dinner I can never learn shit from none of y'all. That's a elbow. That's a little bit of a shot.
Starting point is 01:03:28 I don't know. We know how you oldies rocking already. My niggas the jig is up and old, all right, come on. But it's not a shot if Jayze himself. He just happened to land on that lyric. It's not a shot if Jayze himself said to take the 500K. He's, Jay said that on his mouth.
Starting point is 01:03:43 Take the 500K. Those two things don't. I think of the yeah. All right, but him having a tear drop on his face. No, that was wild. That was that. Oh, no, I thought that was very much a reach, but I just wanted to laugh for a little bit. All right.
Starting point is 01:03:57 Hove has done two B-side shows where he had brand new verses. He goes Acapella and gives us a new verse, addresses everything that's currently happening. He addressed the Nip one at the one that I went to. He addressed him starting title and everything that he went through with Apple and Amazon at the other B-side show. I do assume, whether it be Roots Picnic next week or either of these Yankee Stadium shows, we will be getting a new JZ verse.
Starting point is 01:04:27 Not a new song, like an acapella that's addressing something that's currently happening. Boris. I see a world, not the Ray Daniels world, that you get a shot, an elbow similar to these. Nothing crazy. I'm just elbowing you back in the paint for the rebound. Okay.
Starting point is 01:04:47 Three, no, four shows. Three at Yankee Stadium, one at Roots Picnic, within three months of each other. There's no way we're not getting Jay to address anything that's going on right now. Okay. And Acapella's happening. I can see that.
Starting point is 01:05:05 I don't know if it'll be a back and forth, though. Like, I don't know if it'd be that, but yeah, that's part of the sport, though. Like, you know, rapists say my name, and, you know, like you said, little, not necessarily a shot but a little like you know my name is in there though
Starting point is 01:05:22 but that's the book of hove yeah hove started exactly what draughts in there so it's like okay like I heard you like all right so he did learn shit and that may be in the freestyle callback
Starting point is 01:05:34 yeah but I mean yeah I guess I don't know if it'll be a back and forth though that I don't see I don't see a back and forth happening but I mean I definitely see Jay giving us new bars
Starting point is 01:05:46 and you know maybe over an original beat or something that we haven't heard yet and him having some type of rebuttal to you know what I mean? Yeah. You niggas run and talk to Hove for a second opinion.
Starting point is 01:06:01 I don't think that was a shot at Hove. No, it wasn't a shot. But I could see Jay kind of like playing off of that maybe. But the back and forth and the dis and the dis and all that. No, that shit is never happening. I don't think, I don't see Jay dissing Drake. It's never happening.
Starting point is 01:06:14 No. I don't see that happening. I will be very surprised. surprised if Jay disses Drake. Like, I would be very surprised. Do I hear a rebuttal and a little like, I caught that bar and like a little like response to the bar? Yeah, for sure. That's, that's part of the sport. That's hip-hop. That's rap. But a dis, like a disrespect and then like back and forth, I don't see that. Yeah. No. All right. All right. All right. All right. Mall, today's show is brought to you by our presenting sponsor, Hard Rock Bet, Florida Sportsbook. I was going crazy.
Starting point is 01:06:49 over the weekend with Preakness. And I turned out, I did a high, man. Made a little coin? Yeah, it was my first time, betting on the ponies. Yeah, and I had fun doing it. But also we have Eastern Conference finals are here. The lights are brighter. The pressure is higher.
Starting point is 01:07:05 The city is buzzing. Every possession can change a series. And on hard rock bet every night is a shot to score a major bucket. From the opening kickoff to the final celebration, every match, every moment. Listen to FIFA World Cup on TSN Radio. Gives Canada to the Lift Off! Available on IHeart Radio.
Starting point is 01:08:48 I love the sounds. The buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place, soccer, football, it's home. Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me, why do I breed? I inherited that fandom from my mom. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog root.
Starting point is 01:09:25 We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great. A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture. I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull. It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though. Are they the only ones that don't like that?
Starting point is 01:09:43 Nobody likes that. As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American Football as part of the My Coutura podcast network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Hoda Kotby, host of the podcast, Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby. Together, we're going to have meaningful conversations with the world's most fascinating people. Like when actress Olivia Munn shared how she overcame fierce health challenges. I've gone through breast cancer and then helped my mother through breast cancer,
Starting point is 01:10:18 and that was more difficult. There's a lot of people who understand postpartner depression. I was not prepared for postpartum anxiety. Listen to Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, listen up. The Jonas Brothers here. Our podcast is called, Hey Jonas. We've here, since everyone has a podcast, we want it to as well.
Starting point is 01:10:37 And we've had some incredible guests so far. And now our good friend, Niall Horn, is joining the show. How's it going, boys? Hey, Niall. It's the same thing with Slow Hands. Slow Hands is not about anything else, really, is it? You know, or taste so good can be about food. You do the same, Nick, with some of the stuff that you've done.
Starting point is 01:10:52 You too, Joe. Drop what you're doing and listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcasts. Well, while we're on a festival, sorry to get a little local, but Summer Jam put out their lineup. And I think it looks great. It's a little confusing. Yeah, it confused the shit out of me, actually. I was very, very confused. It's the experience from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Starting point is 01:11:24 but the main stage starts at eight. So my guess is they're going to just have people come out during DJ sets. And I promise I'm not saying they bit Paloosa or Charles drums or anything. But I'm saying like a Paloosa, when you're at a party and then performers just come out to perform their biggest records. And then you go back to DJ set and back to artists. Which means that they got to pay them less because they're probably coming out in performance songs. 100%. Yep.
Starting point is 01:11:52 Two records, not a full set. We'll handle all the production. You don't need dancers. You don't need a lighting guy. We got it all. Yeah. The biggest party to ever hit an arena. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 01:12:03 They cut them corners, ain't there? Don't do that to Hot 97. They are. I mean, I get it shit. Like, it's expensive to throw these shits now. Like, hell yeah. But no, I mean, I think the lineup is cool. The 7 p.m. main stage is all our guys.
Starting point is 01:12:19 Ours there and then you got the party shit afterwards. And I think a welcome home to Fettywop. I assume Fettie's going to close the show. That's a huge moment in Newark. Like, I think it's, for what they have, budget-wise, and where everything is at, where Hot 97 is at, I think they did a great job of putting together a good event. Who do you think they're going to be loudest for outside of FettyWap?
Starting point is 01:12:44 Let's be messy. Yo, in my opinion, they got the baby's name way too small in this fucking fun. I literally was about to say The baby is going to have... He's going to have the loudest when they play that song, especially if it's advertised as like a party, when they play that song,
Starting point is 01:13:05 that arena is going to go insane. If you give Baby Five Records, it'll be tough to follow. Pop Dat is one of the biggest songs right now in hip-hop. Pop-Dap. You can't go nowhere without hearing that fucking song. In Jersey, French.
Starting point is 01:13:20 I mean, French is always going to be French. So yeah, I would say the baby, or French Montana would have the biggest. I think, I mean, does a younger crowd go? I haven't been to one a long time.
Starting point is 01:13:35 Ice spice, if she twarks, I mean, I feel like, Honeybaby Ice Spice, the Baby. G. Herbo has a very young crowd too, though. Cash Cobain, and I'm not saying Cash Cobain is local by any means. I'm saying when he's local, it's even crazier. Yeah. Sleepy Pahlo, 41. Those are
Starting point is 01:13:54 all very young. That's a young crowd. And they make music a good party too. So, no, I think they did well, man. Shout out to them. Your Feddy going to have that shit going crazy, though. Nuts. That would be the reason I would go. I would go upper deck to stay away from the party, but I'd buy the cheap seats just to watch. But, all right, we get to see Kaz's host.
Starting point is 01:14:19 Oh, Kaz's hosting? Yeah. Go, Cass. Host Nessa, Mornings with Mero Team. and DJ Drusky Flex is DJing the experience so you know there'll be a lot of yelling.
Starting point is 01:14:34 Oh, he's gonna yell over all the writers. It's gonna be an experience. Don't hate, don't hate. We gotta do what they gotta do, man. At least it's still going on, so. No, for sure. Listen, I feel like we've been one of the few pauses
Starting point is 01:14:47 over the last five years that has championed Summer Jam taking the pivot they had to take. Like, you can't complain they don't try to do it. local shit. They definitely do. And I mean, if you like the local shit, that's on you.
Starting point is 01:15:02 We're going to talk about Max B saying only three New York rappers is better to him or y'all just want to skip straight to sports. Wait, what Max says? Max is funny, man. Only Big J and Nah is better to him in New York all-time rappers debate. And they was on Gillian Wallo. And didn't Wallow bring up Big Daddy Dane and he said Big Daddy Kane was irrelevant? Yeah. Which I understood why Max B
Starting point is 01:15:24 had the reaction he had. And I get Wallow's point as well. Like Big Daddy King still tours every year. He's relevant in a legacy act world. But I can see why Max like scoffed at that entire thing. He said he had to Rakim too. Y'all so disrespect for the women.
Starting point is 01:15:43 Who did he say? He said he bigger to Rock him and Big Daddy Kane, but Nikki Minaj is way bigger than, like I just need this all to be fucking for real. And I don't like her name does it get mentioned. But I mean, you know. He said Big, Big J and Knows, if the only ones he wasn't?
Starting point is 01:15:58 Yeah, Big J and I's only one bigger than him. All right, man. Shout out, Maxby. Yeah, shout out. Yo, that's where I'm at. That's what I'm at. When niggins start saying shit like that,
Starting point is 01:16:08 yo, listen, shout out Max, man. You know what you want me to say? If that's how he feels, like, you know, all right, cool. I'm not here to, you know what I'm saying, bet. He said nobody has the catalog that he has. No, DMX, nobody. No.
Starting point is 01:16:21 Shout out, Max. Shout out. Shout out Max, though. Like, that's what I'm at in life, man. Fuck it. You nigg is. They were whatever to fuck y'all would have to say. If I beat a body, I'd feel like I'd better than everybody too.
Starting point is 01:16:32 You know what I'm saying? None of you niggas beat the body. What's really the criteria for the best male hip hop artists? None of you niggas be the body. That being a criteria on the best male hip hop artist, did they be the body? Yeah. Check. That's one of them.
Starting point is 01:16:46 How y'all feeling as Knicks fans? I felt good for y'all. I mean, when we're recording this right now, game two is in a few hours. God damn, y'all can't clap. speeded I thought it was like a... It's only one game. Settle the troops.
Starting point is 01:17:06 That's hate. That's hate. No, listen. I'm just saying. No, that's, that's, uh... I've been here before. I've seen this movie before. That's seven games in a row.
Starting point is 01:17:16 Tonight's game. We're recording this on the Thursday. Yes, I already said that we're recording this hours before game two. But we already know the Nix is up too. You can quote me on that one. You standing on that? Absolutely. If we win tonight, it's a sweet.
Starting point is 01:17:29 Big box of business. That's what you're standing on. We look at. We're looking like the fucking, what was it, the O-1 Lakers that swept all the way except from one game to the Sixers? He's talking, ain't he? He's going to talk y'all right to a hole. Ooh, they better win the night.
Starting point is 01:17:44 Went right down 95, swept up that whole city. Took the brooms to Philly. What's Cleveland? What is that? I-75. We're just going that way now. Too. Sweep all of that shit.
Starting point is 01:17:54 Get up everywhere. No, I'm talking shit. Y'all know I'm so nervous as a Knicks fan that everything is going good. Yeah. And that's never happened. So I'm terrified. We'll see. We'll see.
Starting point is 01:18:07 We look good, though. They do look good. That was a tough one last, was that Monday night? Oh, my God, y'all. I had a dream. Who's the tall nigga that played for the Knicks? The tall doofy one, he always falling. I can't stand him.
Starting point is 01:18:18 Mitch is not doofy. Mitchell, I had a dream. I was playing one-on-one against him. I swear to God. Do we have voicemail? I swear to God, ball. You know how you forget you had a dream until something like just triggers it?
Starting point is 01:18:30 I had a dream I was playing one-on-one. You had a dream that you was playing Mitchell-Robberton one-on-one. I swear my life for God, I had a dream. Did he fall? No, obviously, I did. But it was crazy. It was crazy. You should DM him right now and say,
Starting point is 01:18:43 hey, I had a dream about you and just see what his replies. And then you can say, what was he doing? And you say, one-on-one. The matter of dreaming that she's playing Mitchell-Robison- That shit was so weird. I completely forgot. You didn't get a bucket? There's no way you got a bucket.
Starting point is 01:18:59 No, I definitely got a bucket. I definitely got a bucket I crossed them at least once time I crossed the one time Donald and Mitchell's having trouble Yo hold a little bit Yeah I hit DeMaris with the Nah I definitely got a bucket
Starting point is 01:19:12 I definitely got a bucket You think I'm a loser in my own dreams Come on now bro Yo I definitely got a bucket It's hilarious It was a jump shot or you took it to the hole No I took it to the hole All right
Starting point is 01:19:25 It was a reverse layout Like give us I don't remember all that exactly but I remember like it was like a cross cross and then I ran up and I took it to the home. That shit getting punched. Dream or not. That shit. And I followed.
Starting point is 01:19:39 I think like I had like three files. I remember keep file. I kept following. Keeping tracks of fouls and one on one is hilarious. I kept following him. That was a crazy ass fucking dream. I cannot believe I forgot I had that. Amaris, you could hang on his bice and he still.
Starting point is 01:19:54 Yo, Demaris is crazy. What you ate before you went to sleep that night? I don't know. It was a steak. You had a steak? It was Tuesday. No, salmon rice and broccoli. Broccoli.
Starting point is 01:20:05 Yeah. But you had that, what you drank, though. Prune juice. Yes. That's what it was. That's what got you. It was the prune. Cleared your system out and the only thing left was Mitch.
Starting point is 01:20:13 The prune. It's the prune. The prune. Don't do that again. Don't drink no prune before bed. Yo. Hey, fuck y'all. They're drinking prune juice with dinner is crazy.
Starting point is 01:20:23 I drink prune juice regularly. I got to see. You got to stay regular. I said, I'm an adult woman. Like, Oh, I'm regular. Clear out the system. No, I'm regular.
Starting point is 01:20:32 I ain't got that problem. But prune juice with a meal? Yeah, I like to taste the prune juice, though. Okay. Yeah. So what did y'all play for? Oh, I don't remember all of that.
Starting point is 01:20:42 Yeah, I don't remember all of that. You just remember you scored. Y'all not loving the basketball fans. We was in the garden. Whatever. Fuck y'all. I know y'all have had some unrealistic dreams before. I know you don't fuck Tally Berry in one of your dreams.
Starting point is 01:20:55 Like, I got a better chance to cross in him than you got a fucking Hallie Berry. me and him I don't know one of y'all somebody had that dream before I've had that dream before none of y'all fuck Hallibary your dreams no no I wish I could train my brain
Starting point is 01:21:07 to do that though yeah ma'all was breathing on her yeah it was shoot to shoot man I'd respect him if he didn't yeah that's a young child running wild that's all I was so you don't remember the score before we close
Starting point is 01:21:20 okay I mean maybe maybe it's double or nothing tonight when you go to sleep is you and Max y'all the biggest in New York don't trip hopefully the next get this W tonight though they need it yeah before we get to voice mails black love is the new gangster is out right now um i heard it this week at his listening
Starting point is 01:21:39 event and it's sounding incredible so please take some time today to go listen to black's new album vin staples white flag single is out as well midget jordan cold which is a single um and french and max b wave gods too um they have another project out as well so so me's to listen to always good to have some good music to listen to. And listen, I'm always here from a jit, man. Not just in general, but you know, this will be a lot of fluffing. It'll be a lot of bullshit out.
Starting point is 01:22:05 All that fluff in the atmosphere. I would, I would like a, a Mijid project this summer. Maj. Now you're on mine. You don't want to talk. Why are you in my? That's my. Do you know that's my?
Starting point is 01:22:17 You don't even consider Majid EP a classic. You can't even let nobody. You can't even let nobody. Y'all killed me for that for some years, too. went back, he was like, nah, that shit was hard. The four-track EP that was introduced to us? No, the album. Oh, the first album?
Starting point is 01:22:34 Yeah. It aged well. I didn't hate it. I just, I was coming off the four-track EP. It's like four classic records. He wasn't vibed me like how I was vibed. He was like, nah, I don't know. It was a item.
Starting point is 01:22:44 You was still on post-Molly post-partum. That she was hard. That she was hard. That she was hard. That she was hard. Do we have voicemails? You've got mail. We too.
Starting point is 01:22:55 From who? What so, guys? So I just see a crazy post. I immediately thought you all had to get you all take on this. So essentially people are taking their messages with their ex, girlfriend, boyfriend, whoever put it into AI and essentially creating an AI generated version of their ex that they can continue a relationship with through messaging. And I thought this was one of the scariest usages of AI I've seen yet.
Starting point is 01:23:27 Definitely the sad is probably the same. sickest, but I had to get y'all take, I mean, mottled straight off off the rift, I know you would not be about it. But Rory and that to Maris, I could see y'all experiments a little bit, fucking around with it. So let me know which y'all think. Love y'all, love the pod. Talk to y'all. Peace.
Starting point is 01:23:47 Why would I want to argue with AI? I wrote chat, GBT, and say, can you pretend to be my ex? And they say, yeah, tell me what your ex was like, how you want the conversation to feel, comforting, realistic, toxic closure, apology. Who wrote chat GBT's at that? And argumentative and who starts the conversation? Yeah. I just wrote him and said, can you pretend to be my ex?
Starting point is 01:24:07 And you know what's funny? Before Damar said that, I said she would definitely be the one to do that. I would not fucking do that in real life. I would do it for fun like I just did. You would definitely take your ex's text, put him in chat GBT and like use it for future arguments with that nigga. Yes, you would not. I would not need that. You know how good I am arguing?
Starting point is 01:24:24 You know what? I would find an argument? Like, you just at home board. Like, you know what? Let me, let me argue with chat GBT real quick. in the spirit of my ex. I know a lot of people. That's a sickness.
Starting point is 01:24:35 That is scary. I mean, I know a lot of people who have chat GPT craft their responses in arguments with their partner and stuff like that. I always thought that that was weird. I think it's weird too. That's weird. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:24:48 that's very weird. And I feel like you could tell. Like if I've been dating someone for a year and all of a sudden now you're using like proper English, I would, I'd catch on that you don't even talk this one. Now, but you can make it sound like you. Like, talk like me. Talk like me. Argue like I would.
Starting point is 01:25:05 I'm going to say, argue with my ex like I would. So what's sicker? Doing that or creating a new partner in AI? Like, no, I think getting a new girlfriend on AI is sicker. Yeah, of course that sick. Like, no, both are equally sick, but. Going back and forth with a fucking a program software about... There's a whole movie.
Starting point is 01:25:30 What's it called? Her. Yeah. I think it's like, why I jokingly said with the X question, I said, oh, it'd be an argument. Going back and forth with some program that you know is not a real person. Yeah. And like engaging back and forth in conversation romantically, because it would have to be romantic if it's the ex, right? That's insane.
Starting point is 01:25:53 That might be the definition of insanity. Have you seen the movie, her? This was well before, like, AI was a thing. I believe so. Yeah, yes. It's shot really well. Yeah, yeah, it's dope. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:02 The funniest part of that entire movie is when he, asks her how many other people are you talking to? And it's like an astronomical. That's the craziest body count number I've ever heard in my, like he starts melting down when she's like, well, I'm talking to six billion people. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:21 What did you think you thought you were only one? And he can't handle that. Yeah. AI is scaring me because I told him, I'm like, argue with my, I was like, argue as if you're me,
Starting point is 01:26:33 like you're tired of, my ex taking advantage of you. And I was like, but word it like me and like the little things that they throw in there. First of all, they put my honestly in there. They put my, um, they put my, you think I'd never leave, never get fed up, never stop seeing the good and you. I gave you grace in situations most people would have been done over. You take my kindness as weakness and it's actually irritating. Why are they talking like me? You're the chat, JBT in this situation. Why are they talking like me? Wait, so did you upload your text messages or something? No, I just asked to talk like me. I said, I don't know how you talk.
Starting point is 01:27:05 Well, I talk to chat GPT regularly. Not as if they're my ex, but about just random things. So I use chat. Like, I'll ask chat GBT a question, but it's just a sentence. Like, I don't think they would not have talked about me. My prompts that I use for are very like, because I've used chat GPT for to help write bios and creative things. So, and to make it sound more realistic, I had to, you know, make it sound like me.
Starting point is 01:27:29 So. That's scary. Well, what happens when. people started doing that with dead family members. This is going to ruin grief. Because if you're trying to do this with your ex to talk to your ex still, it's going to move to family members. I could see people doing that.
Starting point is 01:27:44 That, see, Talk to your dead loved ones? I thought it was really sweet when Kanye did that whatever AI generated thing for Kim's birthday where her dad, like, talked to her for her birthday. I thought that was sweet. Stop it there. That should have been a lot of thing.
Starting point is 01:28:05 Cut it right there. Beautiful moment. You haven't heard your father's voice. AI can make your father's voice. It was a nice birthday message. You get to see it. Stop it there. The moment she could just start talking to her pops, now we're, no.
Starting point is 01:28:17 People want to, you think people handle grief bad now. Yeah, that will cause a lot of mental problems. More than we already have. I watched my mom go to so many mediums and stand in line for all that bullshit daytime television shit to talk to my cousin. Lose her mind. Imagine if she could sit at home all day. and talk to her. Use your fucking mind.
Starting point is 01:28:40 This is bad. It's not just going to stop with the ex thing. No, definitely not. It's, it's, now I want to know how, if we put in a Mitch's text message as how she talked to her ex into chat, GBT.
Starting point is 01:28:54 You know, talk to me the way Mitch talked to her ex. You don't want to. That'd be more entertaining. You definitely not want that. Wait, hold. I'm going to ask you to talk to me like I'm, argue with me like your mall. Because that's another thing
Starting point is 01:29:07 why, reason why they can talk to me and you may not get no response. They're not going to argue. I don't argue. It's going to shut off. It's going to shut off. That shit going to shut off. That's all that shit going to do. Turn the water system off. The reason why they're also able to mimic my tone is because if you ask chat GPT
Starting point is 01:29:25 who I am, they know who I am. They also know who you two are. So they can pull up because of what we do for a living, examples of how we talk and analyze that through a computer. Not I, but but let's be real for a second. You do this. That's supposed to be me?
Starting point is 01:29:41 Yeah, this definitely. Nobody's forcing you to keep extending grace after the eighth red flag demeris. First of all, first of all, first of all, this is mad, funny. This is actually very funny. Wait, that's supposed to be me? That's supposed to be you. I've never said that. You would say something like that, though.
Starting point is 01:29:56 No, I would not. I've never said that in my life. I said this is too deep. Make it more surface level like mall. Jesus Christ. Get out. those. Shut up.
Starting point is 01:30:11 They said, he started a quote with me. It said, nah, see, this is your problem right here. You always
Starting point is 01:30:15 taking advantage of my kindness. Bro, maybe he just don't fuck with you. Okay. That's fine. That's what I said,
Starting point is 01:30:22 bro, I'm not saying he right. I'm saying you'd be at a surprise every time somebody show you exactly who they are. For dog bark
Starting point is 01:30:27 every Tuesday, why are you shocked on Thursday, DeMaris? Also, you definitely sent that long-ass paragraph, huh?
Starting point is 01:30:33 You definitely get rid of like that from your mom. Yeah, that's me. I'll get that old. I'll throw a little random fucking riddle in there, bro. Mamas definitely told him dogs bark on Tuesday. Random little fan.
Starting point is 01:30:44 1,000 percent. All right, Rory, well, I don't know what you're doing this weekend, but I'm sure you'll be outside somewhere. Maybe. You already said you're going to be outside. Maybe if I could get a babysitter. If the next one, I'm going outside. No, if the next one, you stay your ass in the house,
Starting point is 01:30:58 you're not going outside of that they win. Outside going to be terrible if they win. I'm going to be on side talk. I'm going to be everywhere if the Knicks' wins. If they win a night, I'm everywhere. I'm going outside this weekend. We were watching the game at the gala. And we were leaving, Joey's like, let's run by the garden.
Starting point is 01:31:15 I was like, bro, would be you know. You don't want to do it. We're not running by the garden. No. All right, baby, do you in town this weekend? Yeah. I got to ask. You know, I got to ask for you.
Starting point is 01:31:24 It ain't no telling with you. I'm in town. You in town? Mm-hmm. All right. We're so lucky to have you this weekend. Mm-hmm. All right.
Starting point is 01:31:29 Well, we'll talk to y'all soon. Be safe. Be blessed. I'm that nigga. He's just ginger. Peace. It's that time to put on your jersey and wave your flag, whoever you root for. Why do I watch the World Cup?
