Why hasn't Ice Cube done a movie with Drewski yet? I'm sure that got to be a conversation because Drusky is a perfect character for Ice Cube movie. Yeah. But Ice Cube hasn't been doing movies. That's another thing. Yeah.

So. He hasn't really been doing movies. He's more focused on business, the big three and all of that. Yeah. But Drusky is a guy that you can see. Because even when people don't realize when Cube did Friday, the first one,

They may have gotten brand deals and partnerships with him. But the actual, getting paid for actual impressions, like actual impressions that he's not making much money off of that. That's just the avenue for him to show his talents and get shit around, but he's not

pay me out. Like I'm hosting the BET Awards and that to me is, you know, is enough. But to the Lauren Hill tribute. What did you think about the tribute? I thought it was dope. I thought it was great. I thought that everybody that came out, did a great job. I thought that it was telling the one, because it was probably the longest event of the night, right? The longest segment was the Lauren Hill tribute. Finanily. So, I mean, you're going to honor a legend like Lauren Hill. you got to make sure you do it right. But as I was watching that, I started feeling like, yes, we're paying tribute to a legend and the icon.

But looking at the newer acts, it's like who is the next ones, though? Like, who are the next icons? Who are the next legend? Tiana Taylor, shout out. She won the Icon Award last night. Shout out to Tiana. That's another win for Harlem. But, like, the best performance.

is in a great space. That's one thing I noticed about the wars last night, as far as the new talent, R&B seems to be in a very good space. Rap,

hip hop is in a, it's in a dangerous space when we start talking about the next 15 years. Like, what is it going to look and sound?

Like, who are we going to be honoring? I've been, I've been thinking about that. And honestly, like,

I really was thinking And I was like, it's a chance that hip hop could like kind of like go extinct as we know it. It's headed in that direction. I don't know about extinct, but it's definitely going to hip hip hop as we know it or knew it is going to change. Like the people we start on, like we came in and we talked about best metal hip hop artists and Kendrick winning. Kendrick didn't put out much in the year that we took on for this category to win. I think he put out a verse with Playboy Cardi, maybe last year, something like that. GnX was 2024.

That's two years ago. And he won's best male hip hop artist of the year. Yeah. That to me is saying like, all right, now we just, we ain't even trying to hide it no more. Like, yo, Kendrick. But he didn't put nothing out in the fiscal year that we're talking about with this official 2026 B.T award show. You got guys like Don Tolliver.

We're talking about that. Is that the quintessential hip hop? Is that rap? No. It's not R&B though. He's not singing. It's melodic. It's very melodic, but the music is hip hop. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? So it's like, to me, I think hip hop as we knew it growing up is changing. And guys like Donald Tulliver or Playboy Cardi and that sound to me is going to become more prevalent in the coming years. Like when Nas came out to pay tribute to Lauren Hill. I remember when that video premiered, if I ruled the world.

And I remember that moment and how crazy it was us watching it, Nause going through Times Square on a flatbed with Lauren Hill. And it was like, that was an iconic moment in hip hop. I don't know when the last time I saw any of these newer artists and felt like, damn, this is incredible. Like, this is iconic. Because it's microwave, bro. It's not like, Nass sat with them.

seven, eight months. And I'm saying like that tribute for Lauren Hill, right? When the people come out singing Lauren Hill songs, that music sound good, son, because Bancel gave her them beats or wherever they got them beats from, she had them shit for a year, two years with them beats. She made music to them beats. These niggas go in the studio.

Nah, they just trying to get lit, be able to take a little trip here and there, take a little trick on Instagram, have a vacation, wear some jewelry.

Buy drugs. You know, buy some drugs. Get hired with the homies. Buy a nice car and that's it. Like, seeing Nas on that stage last night performing if I ruled the world, like, literally it was like, damn. Like, Nas is in his 50s. Yeah. Hell yeah.

But he still, it's an aura about him. It's a glow about him. Like, this is hip-hop royalty. This is, you know, one of the guys that we all looked at growing up. Like, his skill set is incredible. I just don't know if I feel like that with any of these newer guys, like that I'm looking at him. Like, damn, like, he has the, he has what it takes to be that next one. I just don't feel that from any of these rappers.

Now, it's some guys out there. They got a nice skill set. They can rap. They sound good. But it's just they, it's just the, it's just, they don't have that, that glow. They don't have that energy around them that says they're going to be here for 30 and 40 years doing this at a high level. There's two microwave. Like I said, you got the DSPs, making this up low in 50,000 songs every day.

And I'm saying, back in the days when Nyes put that, if I rule the world shit out, you listen to that shit for Madloon. before you heard some new shit. For sure, you lived with it. Right. You moved around with it. But it's not like that no more. No. Now, like I said, it's 50,000 songs a day getting uploaded on them DSPs.

I just don't feel like the R&B hit the same like I used to hit. But they're still very talented vocalists. They're still very talented songwriters like when you see a Jasmine Sullivan or, you know, you see Tim's, you see, you know, artists like that, her. You know, you see these type of artists in R&B, you know, making music and singing and know that they can really. really, you know, get on stage with just a piano and a mic and command a room, you know, you look like, okay, like R&B is in a good space. You see, what you see rap, it's like, you know, without all the bells and whistles and all the tricks at a studio and this down the third, and then you listen to a guy just rapping and listen to what he's saying,

it don't really hold you, don't captivate you like when I first heard if I ruled the world. You know what I'm saying? It's like, it's not the same. You know what I mean? like the skill set is not the same, the tension to the art and the craft is not the same. For the most part, there's still, like you said, there's still some. Maybe you outgrew it. Oh, I'm definitely outgrown rap. I've said that. So then that might be what it is then.

Maybe when they say the young man's game, they might be telling the truth. Because maybe you outgroom it. To an extent. Because there might be some young niggas right now saying like, what, nigga, you don't be listening to J-Co or you don't be listening to this? No, I listen to all of those guys. There's not many that, you know, I can look at and be like, all right, you know, they're doing what they're supposed to do. It's a handful of guys that I listen to.

And I know that I can tell that they grew up listening to the right rap and they're in it for the right reasons. They want to be considered the best. They don't want to just make money and do that. Everybody want to make money. You know what I'm saying? Everybody want to do that. But they're not in it just for that.

You can spot the ones that. still have a certain respect for the craft. But for the most part, man, you know, again, looking at the awards last night, the legends and the legacy acts are the ones that stood out and stood apart from the rest. The way it was like, okay, that was dope. Like I said, the Lauren Hill Tribute 20 minutes was the best of the night. The DeAngelo Tribute, when you hear guys like, you know, vocalists like Duran Bannar and, you know, those guys, it's like, this is, this, this, this, John,

seems to be okay. They still have a certain respect for the craft and the skill set of R&B. With rap, it's like they, you know, it's a lot of people that feel like they can just get up there. You don't know what they're saying half the time. It's just a vibe. It's just the music. And, you know, they don't even want to, a lot of these guys, but I can't expect them to know how to rap because a lot of these niggas don't even know how to talk. They don't even know how to speak. You know me, there's somebody's got in the interview. You're like, what is he? He don't even know how to talk. So I definitely don't even want to hear what you were rapping about. Overall, in closing, I do feel like this award show this year was better than previous. I feel like, I feel like they got it right.

I feel like things were, things felt a little, you know, more attention to detail. It felt more organic. Yeah, I felt like watching this. I was like, okay, like BT seemed to, I think they got it right this year. So looking forward to next year to see what they do moving forward. It seems like the artists, everybody have fun, which is important because a lot of our artists can't go to the Grammys. And they're not going to go to the Grammys that are American Music Awards and have fun. Like, it's very stiff.

You know, you got all these others around you. Like, you can't really move. And I feel like the BET Awards, when I was growing up, was just like kind of like our night for our culture where everybody feels. Let loose. See all the people you don't usually see. So I'm glad that they're. trying to like get that energy back so that they can have more of our bigger artists come and you know it can be as big to my kids as it was to me when I was growing up yeah then and it felt like this year

So now this has come out more news on Poushiksy. Prosecutors have shared photos of Gucci-Main being held at gunpoint while Pus Chisie stands next to him. On Wednesday,

June 24th, the government filed this response to Poo Shikesy's latest motion to be freed on pretrial release. And they argue that Poo is a dangerous gang leader. In addition, they shared screenshots from a videotaking from the studio on the day Gucci-Man was allegedly robbed.

One photo shows Poochak's father carrying the contract that Gucci Man was allegedly forced to sign. And another section of the response to an alleged victim in the case wrote a statement pleading with the judge to keep Poole locked up saying he is deeply concerned about what Poole may try to do to him if release. Poo and his crew were arrested in April and are currently awaiting trial. Poo's father in Big 30 have been. been released on bond while Pooh remains in custody. They face up to life in prison if found guilty.
