So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to Playing Along on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, it's Alec Baldwin. This season on my podcast, here's the thing. I talk to composer Mark Shaman.
Starting point is 00:00:40 It's about the hang. It's the pleasure of hanging out with the people that you're with. You know, Rob and I was always a great hang. And director Morgan Neville. Film School teaches you all the wrong things about making documentary. What do you want to say? Documentary is all about your ear. What do you hear?
Starting point is 00:00:56 I feel like my job is listening really, really. hard. Listen to Here's the Thing on the I Heart Radio app Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. I am talking to a felon right now with face tattoos and I cannot decide if I like him or not. That was a caller from my podcast, Therapy Gecko, where I speak with anonymous callers about their problems, relationships, and anything else in the depths of their mind. It all happens on my show Therapy Gecko. So if you're trying to get out of your own head and into someone else, This is the podcast for you. Listen to Therapy Gecko on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:37 Why do some women yearn for Shakira's black hair to make a comeback? And whatever happened to the power couple of my dreams, Mariah Carey and Luis Miguel, I'm Maria Garcia. You may remember me from my podcast, Anything for Selena, or My Thivo. And now I'm back to unpack more stories from the present and the past. Listen to Mui Excited with Maria Garcia on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Look at all of us, man. Just a couple of dreamers, man. Here you go.
Starting point is 00:02:47 What? We all got something in common. I thought we could bond on today's episode. Nice little rainy Monday. I thought we could kick back and appreciate all the things we have in common. I like that. I'm not mad at that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Nice little peaceful day. Yeah. Everyone fulfilled their dreams. over the weekend. Peaceful day. You know. I'm all for peace. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Peace, prosperity. Oh, I know what type of episode is going to be. What you mean? What's about peace and prosperity? Rory come in with sarcastic jokes. You see the shirt? What's sarcastic? Whenever I came in and I've been about peace and prosperity.
Starting point is 00:03:21 I've never promoted, like, violence. If you think about it. I promoted violence. If you think about it. If you think about it, like when it's he not been peace? I've never promoted, like, I've promoted violence and harm on this platform. No, you've never done that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:32 So peace and prosperity. Yeah, just sometimes more of words. Sometimes your wicked tongue. Hey, yo. I mean, you know. Is your sword sometimes? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're not going to agree on everything, which is healthy.
Starting point is 00:03:46 We don't need to agree on everything. It's good with me and Demaris beef. So people think we really don't like each other. Yeah. They never think that. They think that whether we're beefing or getting along, they think we fucking. It don't matter. When we beefing, it's a lover's quarrel.
Starting point is 00:03:59 When we just getting along, we flirt in. Like, they never think we don't like each other. There's no between. There's no in between. Yeah, no, I'm sorry. In their defense, that is usually how, like, a sneaky link, that's how the relationship is. Either always very heated or you're flirting. So I can see where they come to that conclusion.
Starting point is 00:04:14 No, people just have never seen a healthy relationship between two people. You would consider what you guys have as healthy? I think me and Demers have a healthy relationship. I do too. You think we have a toxic relationship? Peace and prosperity, man. That's what about how many of the matterers don't have a toxic relationship? I don't think it's not toxic.
Starting point is 00:04:30 Yeah, like the fuck? No, I don't think you guys do. But you know what? we do have. We're back sponsored by Bootsmove Unlimited Talks. I was going to say, voicemails? And data. Voice smells is funny.
Starting point is 00:04:40 Yeah, let's just wrap this up early. Yeah, if the pod's on peace and prosperity, then let's just get to voicemails and let's get out of it. Peace and prosperity, man. Let's do something different for the algorithm. Niggas don't want to hear that. Niggas don't be prospering for real. I'm just saying, well, let's, let's promote it though.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Like, since the algorithm likes to promote, you know, negativity and bullshit and, you know. That's the only way it operates. Yeah, but that's what I'm saying. We have to fight the algorithm. We can't. Never fight the power? See, y'all are too young. Y'all don't remember.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Negativity is the gas thing. The public enemy said fight the power. They was talking about fighting the algorithm. It's the same thing. You mean the whites? Yeah. Oh, yeah, the whites are. The power and the algorithm is the same thing.
Starting point is 00:05:13 If we fight the algorithm, I won't have a job for long. Actually, none of us will. So we should probably lean. You'll always have a job. You'll probably lean into the algorithm. As a woman, you will always have a job. Ma, Ma, all would love, more want to pimp me out so bad.
Starting point is 00:05:26 He want to pimp me out so bad. Business is always open. For a woman. Okay. Business is a booming. If you think about it, you always, I can't just fall back at my coochie. What if I lose it? Lose your coo.
Starting point is 00:05:38 But what if I misplace it? Then what I'm going to do? I'm going to need a job. Well, you could never misplace the coochie. Well, if you misplaced a Coochie, then you would have to use other things in the stock market. You get what I'm saying? That's all. Just put other things in the stock market.
Starting point is 00:05:52 That does have to have like a good subconscious stress reliever that you guys know that you could always just do that. Could always do that. Not to say you would want to do it or there's anything wrong. You could always do it too. Well, not really. Y'all would garner a higher price than me. Y'all wouldn't be worth it, but y'all would garner a higher price than me.
Starting point is 00:06:12 If y'all wanted to sell yourselves, y'all could. Y'all just wouldn't. No. I need y'all to look at me the same way. No, but I'm just saying, no, no, no, we don't want you to and we hope that you never have to. But in the event that it came down to that, you should never have a hungry night. You should never go one night without eating, baby. Shelter should always be.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Yeah, because I should go all the way. You will never go without sheltering food, baby. If I need to sleep on one of your couch or, you know, get some food out your fridge, I should be good. I shouldn't have to go sell twat. I should be able to go to Rory Hoth. We were talking about selling merch. What you're talking about? What merch?
Starting point is 00:06:44 Yeah, baby D. We're not selling pussy. Yeah. Come on now, baby D. We're not talking. We would never. I would never tell you to hit the blade, baby D. You would tell you to hit the blade.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Hit the blade. You're so fucking old. I would never tell you to do that. It's so fucking old. And I appreciate the ego boost to think that Moll and I would. would get more money for selling dick, but you would definitely, you would outsell up by far. I never said anything about selling dick. Selling whole.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Whole. That didn't even cross my mind. That's really what you were referring to? Yeah, selling whole, selling mouth. Okay, I went from feeling honored like an ego boost to now. I kind of want to fight you. It's a nigga and y'all DMs right now that I'd have paid 10K for that mouth right now. I can promise you, there's nobody in my DMs.
Starting point is 00:07:22 I'm never going to find out. That would ever even attempt to DM you some shit like that. Hidden DMs. I'm hitting requests for show. There's nothing in there. It's 10K for the mouth. It's a bunch of demos in there. Roy got new teeth, 12K.
Starting point is 00:07:34 It's a bunch of demos in there. I got to pay them off. Yeah. Baby, do you for sure got a nigga and ain't ready to suck toes, though? It's just pretty fresh right now. For sure. Baby, how much you got, let's just say hypothetically,
Starting point is 00:07:45 how much you got sitting in the stash if you wanted to allow men to, like, suck your toes and rub your feet and all of those things. Do you promote, like, people that proposition me for them? Yeah, that's actually like, it's sitting in the zeal waiting if you want it. Like, how much you think you got? A lot of people. It's pending.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Like 50K? A lot of people. We don't talk about it. Like 50K, right? But do you, like, I don't know if it's just because I've gotten older that and like I now would pay attention more or is that fetish gotten more widespread? Because just like something that I used to just think was just for freaky things. Like now just regular hood niggas in the street will walk up to me and be like, you have nice feet. That is.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Yeah, but we talked about this already. Is it wise? Is it being more widespread? Yeah. People used to bury their fetishes. Now it's let you're the mayor. You say that every week on here. We don't fetish shame.
Starting point is 00:08:37 I said we don't kink shame. We don't kink shame. Okay, we don't kink shame. I don't shame, but like I just didn't know it was so. I thought it was pretty. Men appreciate.
Starting point is 00:08:43 10 years ago, you had radio personality saying, let me drink your bath water on like government airways. Anything's up for grabs. That was always a weird fetish. Like you have rated personality sniffing chairs of women when they got up.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Like on eye heart. So I mean, anything's, yeah, I don't think a guy. It's scared to de-a-ma, girl, let me see your feet. Niggas really can you sniffing seats? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:09:06 That's crazy, but hey. Okay. Is this a safe space? No, but go ahead. Okay. You said peace and prosperity, so what were you going to say? I've sniffed. I've sniffed the seat, but in my house.
Starting point is 00:09:17 Like, I've sniffing my couch after the girl got up to go use the bathroom. But for a good reason or hey, she stinks. I just wanted to, I needed to find out. How long ago was this mall? This was a few years ago. But I'm just saying, I know. needed to know. What was she wearing? She had on like some um I will hope a skirt yeah sniffing the couch if you sniffing and she had denim on no no no she had um she had like you up
Starting point is 00:09:39 no she had like some um like some some some some alo pants like some workout pants with some tights so you sniff the seat yeah I sniff the cushion on the couch for sure good or bad is a smell that potent that it'll just stay in was it a leather couch no it's cloth leather who has leather couches. Yo, my parents just had a leather couch growing up. So I'm going to sleep on a leather couch in the summertime. You got to peel yourself off that shit like a sticker. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:10:06 The couches is made for like studios and like where some of get a lot of asses, a lot of asses on them seats. Well, I grew up in the early 2000s. It was peak leather couch. Yeah, but that was the early 2000. Leather chairs. Like leather was in in 2004. Yeah, but that's 23 years ago.
Starting point is 00:10:21 We don't need that no more. But yeah, I've sniffed my own couch. You think it matter who. couch you sniffing. It does. After somebody sit up, is sick regardless. It don't matter if it's your couch or not. It's my couch.
Starting point is 00:10:33 I can sniff whatever I wanted, my crib. But like a cold sniff or like you had, you left a little trail of scent. Baby, did you sniff my chair before. I did sniff my chair. Yeah, you wanted to smell my butt. I did not want to smell your butt. What you wanted to smell?
Starting point is 00:10:45 I just wanted to make sure there was nothing to smell. What it smelled like? No one in there, really. Fire. Say nothing but Chanel and Dove over here, baby. Oh, shit. That's all it is. You know?
Starting point is 00:10:55 Most smells like water? hot piece of onions onions onions Pete you got me fucked up yo but I think we were we were doing that for fun like I don't we weren't I wasn't really trying to sniff maw's ass we were like being
Starting point is 00:11:09 I believe I believe so we're here let's all go in the bathroom let's all go in the bathroom take our underwear off and and sniff what the let's go back to negativity I don't know I don't like this this piece of prosperity shit I'm not let's see let's just let's let's let's see no you sniff
Starting point is 00:11:24 me I'm sniffing y'all Like, we're going to blindfold you. We're going to blindfold you baby D. And then we put all of our boxes in a box. And you pick them up with a tongue. And then you got a sniff. I'm my mother. And then depending on, depending on if you guess whose boxes is whose, you win $1,000.
Starting point is 00:11:44 I promise. A thousand dollars. He said $1,000. Yo, your Twitch subscribers will go up crazy if you did that. He said a thousand dollars. Yeah, you'd be like, yo, that's Rory. If you be like, yo, that's Rory. If you get it, if you get all the, that's Rory, that's Moll, that's Peach.
Starting point is 00:11:56 You know what's so crazy is I would be able to differentiate between all of y'all, but I'd rather, quite literally, I would rather die. How would you, how would you be able to? How? Because I would be. You just, you would be, you would be able to. Like, if me, Mitch and Major all put our drawers in a box, even though you've never slept with any of us, you would be able to differ.
Starting point is 00:12:14 You wouldn't have to pay me $1,000 for that. I'd pay y'all $1,000 for that. We don't kinkshame. But people have a smell. You wouldn't be able to tell. Yeah, but that's different though. Down there is different. If I take my shirt off, then you would probably be like, oh, that's mall.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Underwear, you don't know what I smell like down there. You don't know. Everybody has a pheromone. Everybody has an es. You don't know my pheromones, though. Okay. You don't know my moans, baby Dee. Baby, Dee, you don't know how I'm own.
Starting point is 00:12:42 You don't know that. You don't know that. You wouldn't be able to be like, yeah, that's more. I think you would get it wrong. Okay. But the vegan, I think, would have a particular smell. What would it smell like? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:53 I've never sniffed a view. It would smell like. nothing. I just feel like there'd be a difference between like Peach and I eating pork and a vegan. Ryan's going to smell like puberty. Like I know I'm just, you're going to tell a different.
Starting point is 00:13:05 Yeah, I eat pork. So y'all know it would smell like cancer. I eat, I'm vegan. So mine would smell like whatever fabric softening. I feel like Roy's going to smell spicy. I don't know. Spicy.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Like old spice? Yeah. Like it's going to be a spice. That's racist. Roy, don't let say that about your people. That's racist. She thinks old spice was made in Ireland.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Like she thinks that. Like she thinks there is the Irish Spring. Irish Spring. Yeah. You can wash a car with Irish Spring. Yo, my mother used to use Irish Spring. That was the soap that she would buy for, like, the house. I was like, yo, my, I can't use this.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Yeah, because that shit came like 40 balls in a pack and that shit lasted you for two and a half years. It could be 30 niggas taking a shower. That ball looked like it wasn't used at all. At all. Yo, yeah, good old Irish Spring. They got this exfoliate that I like that I kind of have to, like, sneak by it, Trader Joe's.
Starting point is 00:13:52 This is called Brazilian Nut, and I feel weird checking out with it. it's some of the best, like, exfoliates. It's like a body scrub? Mm-hmm. It's really, really good. Love it. That's why I think my draws would do well in that, because, you know.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Scrub. Okay. I get in the crevices. Body scrub, yeah. So good, baby, Dee. I don't want, smelling stroke draws. How come,
Starting point is 00:14:09 how come Charlemagne never smell a DJ envy seat after we found out? He didn't watch his ass for 45 years. Yeah, that's the seat you need to smell right there. No, I'm cool. Smell that prone. Watch the fucking throne. Smell that throat.
Starting point is 00:14:22 Smell that commode. Y'all sick, bro. How was your weekend? It was good. Fucking lit. I was outside. I was in them streets, baby, D. I know I got a fucking text message at 3 a.m.
Starting point is 00:14:35 with video footage. You know what I'm saying? I was outside. Was that 3 a.m? No, I feel like we got home at a. reasonable hour. I will never be outside until 3 a.m. I woke up at 3 a.m.
Starting point is 00:14:44 I saw the message. Oh, well, then that's different. No, we weren't outside until 3. I was in my third dream about 3 a. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Well, yes, Maul kept to his promise. I did.
Starting point is 00:14:55 He did come to the Jay Cole show with me. I did. Shout out to the Dreamville team. Everybody for not having me. Hey, yo. Thank y'all. Y'all. You couldn't keep me out the building.
Starting point is 00:15:06 Kept me off the riser, but couldn't keep me out the building. It's all good. You know what I mean? Shout out to Dreamville. I mean, I feel like, I feel like we probably could have went over to the riser. I just didn't want to push our luck.
Starting point is 00:15:16 We had great seats. Could see the stage. I didn't feel like we should really push the team. What'd you think would have happened if we walked to the riser? Nothing. Exactly. And I don't mean that in like, I hope they don't take that in that. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:15:27 They would have allowed us to go on a riser. My gosh. They were strict. I don't know. They were strict on that riser boy. We saw B.D. I come off the riser to hug cold mid walk through and go back on the riser. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:15:38 That was nasty Bidot. We saw BDot do it. BDot ran down the stairs and placed itself right in the path of Jermaine. In Jermaine's path. You want to know why I love Bidot? I happen to just catch all of that. on camera. I just happened.
Starting point is 00:15:56 Yeah. Catch it. Yeah, you told me, I didn't see it at first. I went from hugging yon, shout out to, shout out to Yombs Mahomes. Shout out of Yombe Brian.
Starting point is 00:16:04 Big Yomi. So we see Yomi, we give her a big hug and then we look to the left and J. Cole is wrapping five feet away from us. And then I see BDOT run. Hug him get right under his arm,
Starting point is 00:16:16 I feel like. I think he even give him a little nuggie. Dapped. And I sent that to BDOT. And he posted it himself. I was like, oh my God. To, laugh at a, because we're friends and we make jokes on each other. I said, have you no shame?
Starting point is 00:16:29 Remember pride? And instead, you remember pride? Hey, Cole told us pride is the devil, apparently. Is it? I'm a devilish motherfucker. So what I thought was going to be a private joke that BDot would be ashamed of. He clipped it up and posted. No, he said, thank you for that. Said thank you, Cole. I said, oh my God, BDat. All right, well, had he not interrupted that, I was going to try to get Cole to stop in that more. Like, that was my plan. Cole would have saw me sitting there. He would have stopped the music.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Security. Pause. We locked eyes. Hey, yo. I was like, yo, my man here. Like you're playing him on. You know, this that bad bitch. Yo, my man rap.
Starting point is 00:17:08 You know, my man rap. While he's performing in front of a soul dark crowd. You're my man right here, you rhyme. But I was happy you did come out. Yeah, I told you. I think you thought I was bullshit. No, no, no, I've never seen Cole perform like his own set. I've seen him come out at other people's shows and, you know, do a couple of records here and there.
Starting point is 00:17:28 But I've never seen his own shows. So that's part of the reason why I went. I was like, oh, I've never seen him perform. So? What did you think? I thought it was good. He did a good job. Did a good job.
Starting point is 00:17:38 Great performance. Love the fact that he really didn't have no guests or him. Didn't do no wardrobe change, you know, just kept it. you know, Cole. He could have left there, got on his city bike and rode home if he want. Nobody would have bothered him. Jay Cole has created a very interesting and unique, like, I guess, aesthetic and persona for himself. Like, to be able to sell out Barclays and then from the show, he could have jumped on
Starting point is 00:18:08 the city bike and rode his bike home and nobody would have bothered him. I think that's pretty dope. I think it's like an interesting life that he's created for himself. I do. I think that's some cool shit. He's super, obviously super famous, super popular, but then also nobody will bother him. Like, you know what I'm saying? It's like that type of thing, which is, I think, what a lot of people aspire to do.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Like, I want to be successful. Sure, if fame comes with success, okay, you'll take it. But I also want to be able to just do regular shit and just, you know what I'm saying? Like, not be bombarded by a bunch of people on my days off. Yeah. You know what I mean? So I think that's cool. But the show was good.
Starting point is 00:18:52 You think he probably doesn't go out with security? Like if he's going to a target run. Not, which is cool. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. He's created a very, you know,
Starting point is 00:19:00 a unique life for himself. I think that's, I think it's dope the way he maneuvered. He doesn't want to seem like he's not accessible. You know, he wants to be a man of the people. Nothing wrong with that. I salute that.
Starting point is 00:19:12 People have this weird thing that they think that I hate Cole. And I keep saying, I don't hate coal. I never met him. That's why we brought you out to show, to show the city. Never met him. don't don't hate him um again just hate what he did as a rapper as an emcee in a very
Starting point is 00:19:25 rapper emcee moment that's all that that's all it is well i'm glad we could show the city that that you meant well and that's course i always mean well i don't have i don't have issues with nobody anybody that don't y'all know me if anybody don't like me have an issue with me y'all got a you y'all got a accident like what was the issue like the girl at the show that was wasn't that interested girl at the show baby d comes up her sister sit right next to us rory thought that I probably knew the girl because she was like, ugh, what you're doing here? And, like, walked off.
Starting point is 00:19:54 So I looked at her. One part, she then ended it with, I don't fuck with you. Yeah. I was like, did you be? And then walked off. And I was like, so Roy was like, yo, you know her? I was like, I don't know who that is. So then the young lady that was sitting next to us,
Starting point is 00:20:06 she was like, what was that about? I was like, I don't know her. She was like, that's my sister. I was like, I don't know your sister. I've never met her before. So then a couple minutes past, she tells me her, her, because I guess she texts her to be like, yo, what was that about?
Starting point is 00:20:19 And she said, oh, my sister said that, you shouldn't be here because you don't like J. Cole. You're not a J. Cole fan. And in the minute, I sat there. I said, you know, I just had to laugh and I said, that's what she thinks. Right? That's what she thinks. And it's fine. But in that moment, I'm thinking, like, you know how strange it is to see somebody that you don't know at all.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Say something like, oh, what's you doing here? all on behalf of somebody that doesn't even know you're here. But you did that to Cole in a way. Wow. You don't know him and you said ill. Why you apologize? I never said ill. Never said that in my life.
Starting point is 00:20:59 No, you said he had boy shorts on. And that Eap should have unplugged all the cameras. Yeah, I stand on that. Yeah. Eap should have unplugged everything. Unplug it. The whole stage should have went dark. But yeah, so, and then towards the end of the show,
Starting point is 00:21:15 the young lady comes back and she apologized. this. And I just was like, yo, it's all good. Like, I'm not, I don't care about that. I don't care about that. But it's just like, how weird is it? I don't know you. And Jane, and Jermaine doesn't know you. Don't get me started on. So this shirt I actually bought four them all to try to like disguise them in the arena. And he was a little cocky and was like, I don't need to wear that. And I felt like J-Cole may have stopped had he seen Mall with the fall off shirt on. Like, that could have been. Yeah, he would have been. Yeah, he would have That could have been the olive branch.
Starting point is 00:21:48 He'd like, that's a bootleg. Yeah. I didn't know if we were going to get in, so I had to buy the bootleg to try to disguise you at the gate. Yeah. He'd be like, yo, that's not real merch. Yeah. But if anyone wants, this is a game-worn mall Dreamville hat that we could auction off or something. That's game worn right there.
Starting point is 00:22:04 He had that on in the parklitz. I never wore that hat a day in my life. Yo, I'm fucking screaming. Don't do that because I put the hat on you during the leto. On top of my hat. When we were singing, yeah. I see y'all survived the let out. I love that.
Starting point is 00:22:16 It was touching gold for a second. I didn't think it was it was kind of shaky getting up out of it. Well, you made it okay for us when the security guard had an Iceman Club on.
Starting point is 00:22:25 That's when I knew you called ahead. I was like, I forgot, Maul is from the streets. I'm just this willy-nilly kid. There's like, everything's gonna be fine. I know that Maul set up shot
Starting point is 00:22:34 two days before. It's somebody everywhere. He cased the bar plays with security. It's somebody everywhere, this is not a joke. We got to our seats and there was a security guard with the Michael Jackson
Starting point is 00:22:43 glove on his hand. I was like, there's no fucking way. Or dang God. You know what I'm saying? My peoples is everywhere. Making sure he was all right. Making sure I was safe.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Who else, but he. Exactly. But the show was good, though. I enjoyed it. The Barclay sound system is terrible, though. Yeah, they could have turned Coles' mic up a little. Jay Coe's mic was low the entire time. You could only hear him when the beat dropped or when he was given one of his eloquent speeches.
Starting point is 00:23:08 Yeah, but they need to, I don't know. It's something about the sound system in Barclays that I never was a fan of. I've been a few concerts then. I never was a fan. Like the difference from the same. sound system and barclays in the garden is like totally different. It's a whole different like, it's like
Starting point is 00:23:23 watching the 90s basketball games now and you're like, how did I ever know that Jordan had the ball right deal? When I was a kid, it's like you can't see shit. Like any live 2000 graphics who's like, yo, it's video games. It's like watching the real thing. How did you know that was Magic Johnson? How? Like, you know what I'm saying? It's the sound
Starting point is 00:23:41 system is just night and day. So I don't know if it's like the sound system. I don't know if it's the the sound engineer for the night. I don't know. I don't want to put it on anybody in particular. But every time I've gone to a concert in Barclays, I've always said the sound could have been better.
Starting point is 00:23:58 The mic could have been louder. You could hardly hear the artist. Like, it's just, I don't know. Yeah, it's not just Cole. I've felt that way with a lot of different artists. Yeah. But I mean, it's not just Barclays. I mean, Tiana Taylor's mic was off at Yankee Stadium.
Starting point is 00:24:12 So maybe we got to check who's the engineer for these shows. It might be the same guy. Was he wearing the night? Iceman. Yeah, yeah. Might be the same guy. That's the guy that's behind everything.
Starting point is 00:24:21 But Cole did perform all the records I wanted to hear from the falloff. You know, I love the first disc, and I felt like he leaned in heavy with disc one. I was very happy about that.
Starting point is 00:24:32 He did some come-up shit, some warm-up shit. I thought the show was great. Jay Cole has an interesting fan base. It's a very interesting fan base. How so? Just looking around at the crowd in Barclays,
Starting point is 00:24:47 Like, I'm just looking at them and I'm like, I get it now. Like, that's the first time I've seen a Jake Cole show where everybody is here for him. And I understand it now. Who do you understand? His fan base is very... Careful, because that's me and Demarest. But his fan base is, in a way, his fan base is very much like him. Like, his fan base is very...
Starting point is 00:25:15 Down to earth, personable, sweet. They all took city bikes to... the arena. Not like those things, but like more so like, the best way I can describe it is like his fans seem like all of the kids that are grown now that used to like hang out in front of 7-Eleven. Like they'll be in the car, they'll take their parents' car, sit in front of 7-Eleven, maybe somebody can go get a pack of cigarettes. No, those kids are like Hobson fans now. But I think Hobson fans and Jay Coe fans are one of the same. Absolutely not. Yeah. I think Cole fans are.
Starting point is 00:25:49 kids that... And this is not a knock. I'm just saying his fan base is very... It's like, it was a lot of Asian kids. Well, let me say, kids. It was a lot of Asians. It was a lot of white... A lot of... But I feel like that's rap shows, period, though.
Starting point is 00:26:02 No, no, no, no, no. I'm not saying, like, yes, hip-hop rap is accepted by all races and cultures. I get that part. But the show... No, it was a very different, like, clear... Like, when we went to see... Who did we see in Toronto? and we was like if he's Daniel Caesar Daniel Caesar
Starting point is 00:26:20 like that crowd is the Jay Cole crowd like that's exactly who was probably at Jay Cole's show in Toronto I agree with that went to see Daniel Caesar yeah I agree with that and it's not a knock it's just like
Starting point is 00:26:34 I feel like Jake Cole has the most normal fans like normal normal regular people like the regular people that you went to school with they weren't super popular but they weren't super weird
Starting point is 00:26:46 just normal people I feel like Jay Cole has the normal. It's a very even kill fan base of like, you know. Everybody in the building had something to lose. Everybody has something to lose. Everybody has something to do tomorrow. Everybody has something going on. Everybody has a job.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Normal. Everybody has the education. Normal fans. Yeah. It's like a very like, you know what I mean? Like it's a very non-problematic, non-confrontational. Even though the young lady was like, you know. Yeah, I'm about to say she clapped.
Starting point is 00:27:15 She clearly wanted to smoke with me. But, you know, it's like. a very, but then she came back and apologized. You get what I'm saying? So it's kind of like, if I would have, that would have been at a, let's say a Travis Scott show, I might have to fight.
Starting point is 00:27:28 You know what I'm saying? Because the person might just start taking their shirt or raging. And you know, it's like, I'm going to have to put this nigga down like a rabbit dog. You know what I'm saying? Like you get what I'm saying,
Starting point is 00:27:37 but at a cold show, she comes back. She apologizes. I was wrong. I shouldn't have did that. Yeah. It was all love. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:27:45 She didn't want to lose sleep. You know what I mean? Cole concerts are the only shows I go to where there is an insurmountable amount of couples in the bill. A lot of couples in there. Cole shows are always couples because Cole has a lot of female. I just feel like just normal people that are in relationships, they're in the criminalismic. Lyrically, and this could be a hot take that I may change my mind. But as far as lyrical rappers go, I do think Cole may have the most women fans of that type of lyrical shit.
Starting point is 00:28:13 Now, I know you're going to say Drake and I understand that, but Drake is in like superstardom. Popstar. He's still a rapper, but he's in that past, Cole makes like every record is lyrical as fuck. Whereas Drake can do lyrical shit and a bunch of other stuff. So, of course, he's going to garner a huge, wide variety of fans. He casts a wider than that. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:30 Yes. As far as lyrical rappers go, Cole has so many women fan. Cole's fan base are all of the kids that, like, felt bad after they stole something from the store. He keeps calling Cole fans pussy. And you know what I'm saying? Now, when I hop across his desk and show him how wrong he is,
Starting point is 00:28:49 then I'm going to be wrong, right? That's, like, it's trauma there. We can talk about that if you want, baby. It's trauma somewhere in it. This is the same 7-11 they're getting cigarettes from? Yeah. They're stealing from. It's not a knock.
Starting point is 00:28:58 It's a corporation. You shouldn't feel bad about that. No, I'm saying they feel bad. You know, when some kids steal something, like, why I did that. I know better than that. My parents told me better than that. Cole fans would feel bad if they stole from like the mom and pop deli.
Starting point is 00:29:09 They'd be like, what am I doing? I'm part of the system. They'll perfectly fine still from Walmart. But, yeah, Walmart, I think they're fine. But yes, they'd have a guilty conscious, like, damn, like, damn, man, I just did that to a family. Yeah, like, damn, man, I probably took food off their table tonight. Yeah. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:29:21 They'll feel bad about it. And then he, like, buy the dinner. Yeah, it's like a very, like, yeah, like, it's a very calm, very chill. We was even talking about with a let out, like, everybody, like, exited the building. You know, you know, whenever you say niggas exited the building, that means everybody was orderly. Yep. That means everybody was like, no, go ahead. It was like, no, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:29:40 You go. Like, a nigga has never told me no, you go at a rap show. It's never happened before. Niggas was like, yo, it's like, Dave, we're all going the same way. Cold show, no, go ahead. It was like, thank you, man. All the niggins that, like, cat called me. Nobody was disrespectful.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Everybody was like, I hope you have a really good night queen. Like, they were so sweet. It was the nicest I've ever got hit on in by the life. The cat call is different. The cat call is different from, from Coles fans. You know, it's like, it's not aggressive. It's not like, yo. Like, it was like marriage material in the building.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Like it was definitely marriage material in the cold show Yeah No it was an efficient let out To the point that even the people were acting as security guards Like emergency exits to the left right Whereas at the at the Jay Z concert We were there until 3 a.m. And they were like can you guys please get the fuck out of left field
Starting point is 00:30:28 Yeah, like nah we're chilling It was a very just calm very you know We came and saw Jay Cole do what he do And now we're all going home and just relaxing I had a ball I had a fucking ball It was a very interesting night I needed to see, I have a different appreciation for Jake Hold now.
Starting point is 00:30:48 After seeing his show, after finally seeing his own full set. Like, it's like, okay. Like, I always knew he was talented. I always knew he could rap. But now seeing him hold his own show down and carry his own set, it's like, hats off. I sang every motherfucking word. Oh, no, we're going to get to. This was Friday night.
Starting point is 00:31:10 We're going to get to your Saturday in a second. Oh, you want to say? I went Saturday. Oh, okay, okay. Of course I would have linked y'all if I went Friday, but you know. You would have been on the riser. We went a lot up there. You would adapt us on the way to the ride?
Starting point is 00:31:21 You were allowed up there. I wasn't allowed up there. I'm sure they would have welcomed Rory with open arms. Me on the other hand, it might have been a little, you know. I don't know if it's five, six for Best Actor. 150% this kid Jafar Jackson should absolutely positively get nominated for his portrayal as Michael Jackson.

How would you have felt if I abandoned you to go to the risa the way Demaris did to Ryan? I would have felt cool. What about you all good? I wouldn't have felt like the biggest herb on earth. No, but it's like, you know, we had to get on the riser.
Starting point is 00:35:36 That's not what happened. You left Ryan to go to the rise. It's not what happened. And then he big leaked you the next day and was like, yo, we in the suite. Gade his extra chicken peed. Unlimited chicken tenders in the sweet. You know, the sweets you have, every time you, You think it's the nuggette.
Starting point is 00:35:49 They refill them to the brim. Let's just be falling on the, it's like, yo, how many chicken tenders got in the building? Unlimited chicken tenders in the street. That's my just grass on top of the Barclays. Yeah. The fucking chicken tendons on the barclays. With the, with the curle of crinkly fries. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:07 A bunch of dipping sauces. Oh, my God. But yes. All right. So Saturday. Yes. You FaceTime me during the day. Well, at first I text Rory because I had an extra J-Cold ticket.
Starting point is 00:36:18 it because the person I was supposed to go with couldn't come. So I was going to raffle it off to a fan. And I was like, or should I just give it to Ryan? And Roy was like, just give it to Ryan. Like, I was like, you know what, you write. Like, I'm just, you know, I'll just give it to Ryan. I told Ryan, because I was always just, I was just going to go by myself. Like, I literally was just going to go by myself.
Starting point is 00:36:37 Because I go to rap shows by myself. I go to the movies by myself. I don't care. I like going to concerts by myself anyway because I can move differently. And don't do that. You weren't just going as a spectator. You was Streamville. Like, you had a purpose.
Starting point is 00:36:49 You had a purpose. Streamville is hilarious. Like, you knew what time it was. Streamville? You were streaming? Yeah. Streamville is hilarious. You didn't see she put in the chat.
Starting point is 00:36:58 I watched her Twitch. TV backslash the Bears G. You didn't see him. You probably was doing something. She put her Twitch link in the group chat. I watched that. I missed it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Oh, you streamed the whole show? I streamed a, I stream like 30 minutes of it. And then I was like, I went into fan mode. And I was like, I can't do this shit. Bye y'all. I got to go. She had a microphone. She was talking to Jordan.
Starting point is 00:37:16 I was talking to Jordan from Complex. Shout out to Jordan. You know me. Oh, you were streamville for show. Yo, I thought this was, I thought you were joking when you said streamville. Look at the. Her beat eye. Yo, y'all are compromised.
Starting point is 00:37:26 At least there's two media personalities here that are still going to keep this shit real. How are we compromised? You up there with complex and microphones and what that means? Streams and streams. You just was like. You up there was streams and shit. I wasn't paid. I wasn't paid.
Starting point is 00:37:42 I wasn't hired to record my experience. Yeah, but like just like just like just enjoy the show. cut the camera off. Like everything. I did enjoy the show. But the majority of what I streamed, I was streaming boss doing, um, Dreamville radio. So shout out to boss.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Cause performs another local, uh, North Carolina performer performed. Like I was streaming mainly that. I only stream like, like, like, like, cause got you straight like that. What do you mean? Another local local local, local. No, I've got like big record. I wasn't referring to cause. I was talking to about P, PKG.
Starting point is 00:38:13 I think that's what his name was. Oh, you got you. And in the local. And cause performed. They both did. Yes. Vigigi just put out a project that co-produced the entire thing. I think that's who performed.
Starting point is 00:38:24 If I'm not. Yeah, no, that was him. Yeah. So, yeah. So I was mainly filming that. You know, just talking to people and stuff like that. But I told Ryan,
Starting point is 00:38:30 I was like, Ryan, I'm probably going to have to leave you because I wanted to go hang with, you know, go see yo me, shit like that, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But I was supposed to go back to him. But once I got on the riser, they were strict. I couldn't go back up there.
Starting point is 00:38:41 So I just stayed there and enjoyed the show. But he was, like, trapped against your will? or you're saying you couldn't go back. I couldn't, she told me I couldn't keep going back and forth. She was like, you can't keep going back and forth. So I was just sending Ryan's, who told you that, yonnie? No. Oh.
Starting point is 00:38:56 The people at Barclays. The security? Yeah, security was being real weird and strict. Like to the point where I didn't have, I didn't have a lanyard. I didn't have a lanyard. You know, I snuck on a riser. I didn't have a lanyard. So they walked up to the people on the riser.
Starting point is 00:39:09 It was like, yo, she's supposed to be here. I'm like, everybody was like, yeah, she's cool. I'm like, damn, I got to chucked a fuck out. Like, part of me feels like Mall is the reason why the rise are strict for this door. And I'm really not even like, I'm really not, I'm really not gas-ish. You are really dragging. Okay, hear me out.
Starting point is 00:39:24 Land it, let me hear this. Hold on, baby, Dee. Let me hear this. Go ahead, land it. Now, when the apology happened at Dreamville Fest, obviously Twitter was on fire the next day and our podcast made rounds with that clip. And granted, I think a lot of people that are
Starting point is 00:39:40 in Dreamville affiliated with Dreamville weren't just talking about mall but it was only like one of three people they were really getting at when saying what was the exact thing? We gotta close the pool. The kids shit in the pool. The kids are shitting in the pool
Starting point is 00:39:53 and wow, that may have been about somebody else that was on Revenge of the Dreamers but it could tie to us as well because I have always been affiliated with my good friends over at Dreamville and then my guy was shitting on them publicly the next day and it put me in a conversation.
Starting point is 00:40:11 compromising situation. So I think they closed the pool down. It was like, yeah, we can't keep having these outsiders around. Look what happens. We take care of them. Your syndrome. Dreamville, anytime of Dreamville Fest, a Jay Cole show, Felton, Eve, everyone has always made sure I was always good and I'm always appreciative of that. But I did sit here while Mall was going crazy. And I stand
Starting point is 00:40:32 with him. I, I should, I should have on Dreamville. I see why they got to close that rise. You know, it's only Scotty Beams allowed. That's it. That's the only person allowed up here. You sound nasty. where I shit it on Dreamville. Wait, I fuck with those guys. Wait, why do I sound nasty?
Starting point is 00:40:46 Show me where I- As your friend, I'm telling you, you sound nasty. What you mean? Like, I know you be being sarcastic sometimes, but I don't want nobody to believe you. Like, you know what I don't think they shut this rise down because of all. I don't want nobody believe it. That's why I was just like, you know, I don't want that to get clipped up.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Yeah, but no, but then I never, I never shit it on Dreamville? Dreamville? I never shit it on Dreamville. I shit on Cole's decision. If you shit on Trump, is you shit on America? No. If you shit on Obama, are you shitting on America? No.
Starting point is 00:41:11 No, first of all, half of America don't even think he's American. For what? Cut it out for what? The President of the United States said he wasn't. Yeah, like, what are we talking about? Like, cut it out, no. Matter of fact, to them, it's American to say he's not. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:29 No, this shit on Dreamville. That's what I'm saying. It literally boils down to, yes, I can still like, but that's why that's what to me is the dope part about me. It's because I could be. That was a little percentage. No, it is, though. You could be my man, but if you do some way, I can fuck with you. I could fuck with this.
Starting point is 00:41:49 If you do some shit that I don't agree with it, I'm going to tell you. Yeah, for sure. I'm not going jack it just because I'm a fan of yours. I like your music. I'm like, nah, that was crazy. You shouldn't have did that. But let people tell it, I don't do that because I did it to the person that they love and they would never say that about.
Starting point is 00:42:04 Well, some would say that you only went to this cold show to clean up, not going to the Hove show. That's what some would say. Yeah, but I don't, we don't speak to that. Who would say that? I don't know. Yeah, like we don't speak to that some. Like, that's just, I went to this cold show because I have never been to a Jay Cole show.
Starting point is 00:42:20 No, I know. I've seen them perform, seeing them pop out at other people's, you know, shows and things like that. But I've never seen a flat out Jay Cole show. So. And Demaris, I was obviously being sarcastic with that. But I am serious in thinking that TDE, Dreamville, and OVO post-battle would change for them a bit is. Who is the plus ones, twos, and threes? Oh, for sure.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Like, I am joking that mall's the reason they shut them. Of course, I'm joking in that regard. But I think all three of them, rightfully so, those crews, did a little bit of cleaning house post that battle. That's all. Yeah, I'm sure. Like, it was cool to have the plus one could have a plus two. Not anymore. Just the plus one's coming.
Starting point is 00:42:59 Yeah. Can't have everybody up here. Well, what I will say is that it was the most down to earth. It's the most comfortable I've ever felt on a riser. Rizers can be very weird sometimes. but everybody there. How you feel comfortable when you couldn't even leave?
Starting point is 00:43:15 I'm not, but that has to do with the security, not the people that were there. Like the vibe of it. It wasn't people sitting there stush, face crunched up. Like, no, niggas was rapping. Me and J-Wan,
Starting point is 00:43:27 shout out to J-Wan, me and J-Wan sat there and did every word from 33 intro when that nigga came out until the fall off is inevitable. The entire set list bar for bar screaming.
Starting point is 00:43:38 And people don't do that. People don't do that, Iron Rizers. Why is he? Sorry to hear that. I'm sorry to hear that she performed and didn't get paid for it. No, I had a ball.
Starting point is 00:43:47 I had a great time. As a Cole, my, as a Cole fan, super fan, I think I grew up. He picked all the correct songs from the fall off. Even the songs that he did where he was like, y'all probably won't notice this ain't for everybody. He even did those right. Like he even did the good like, you know what I'm saying,
Starting point is 00:44:04 the good B size. Like everything was just great. I did cry. For what? First of all, hear me out. out when he did, I can't remember what song he was doing, but he did like the reverse. He did like the reverse pictures of himself like from now until all the way to like 2014 Forest Hills Dries.
Starting point is 00:44:22 Like his pictures just flashed. It was just, it was really emotional just to see like how far his journey. Huh? His journey. Yes. It was beautiful. If I could cry at Gunner, I could fucking cry at Cole. You shouldn't have cried at even one of those shows.
Starting point is 00:44:35 Well, Gunna had just gotten freed. What that got to do with you? I get emotional when I see people like. Free? Free? Did you cry when Shine got out? He did 10 years.
Starting point is 00:44:45 It's gonna do like 15 days. Yeah, like what the fuck? He was free. He was fucking dinner was still hot when he got home. Fuck y'all. But yeah, I cried. I cried at the last cold show I went to him too. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:44:57 But I cried at the last cold show because I get off my dick played. And I had never seen Get Off My Dick performed live. You cried because J. Cole performed to get off my dick. Get off my dick is my favorite cold on. Baby D what are you going through? Oh my God. What is going through?
Starting point is 00:45:09 So it made me emotional. I was so. That was. tears of joy, but this were like emotional tears like, damn, like they really tried to tear my nigga down. They tried to say his career was over. Niggas tried to say career suicide. And he's still here, like shaking
Starting point is 00:45:21 the motherfucking building. Five nights in the motherfucking row. Niggas can't do that. I'm my mama. No, no heavy production, no heavy bullshit, no tips and tricks, none of that. Same outfit, sent him there rapping bar for bar everywhere and niggas is in there crying and screaming and just happy to be
Starting point is 00:45:37 there. Five nights in a row. Niggas favorite rappers cannot do that. Period. at point. Can't do what? Can't do that. A lot of niggas favorite rappers can't do what Cole did. Perform five nights in a row. Five nights in a row and one of the biggest markets in the world. Oh no, a lot of people. Without a whole heavy production and everybody know every song with hits, fire, B, sides, everything. No, a lot of niggas's favorite rappers. No, a lot of, yeah, that is true. A lot of people's favorite rappers cannot do that. That is a fact. So, yeah. Through all of this, we've always said that we don't use the big three lightly. Like, it's those three and everybody else. Yeah. Nobody can do that shit. That's very difficult to do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:14 So we had a ball. So then afterwards. Jay Cole's biggest record is about losing his virginity. I just want to point that up. That's not his biggest record. I think it's one of them, but it's not the biggest record. It might be, might be one or two. I'm not talking to my numbers.
Starting point is 00:46:27 That is his biggest record. All right. I don't know about on Saturday night, but in mall's defense, that was the loudest that the, that is his arena. The arena went nuts when he was like, yo, I'm a virgin. That is his biggest record. Like, Wet Dreams is his biggest record. I don't think. It is one.
Starting point is 00:46:43 It's top five for sure. No, it's number one. In their hearts? Yes. That is Jay Coles to his fan base. That is his biggest record. Wet Dreams is his best record. Best or biggest?
Starting point is 00:46:55 Both. No, it's not. Both. It's not. The fucking, the way that... No role models is his biggest song. No way. He closed with that, right?
Starting point is 00:47:06 No. You're talking about numbers. I'm not talking about numbers either. Oh, no. He closed with the gas station shit. That wet dreams came on. Me and Roy looked at each other like, yo, it is so crazy that a song about losing your virginity is his biggest song. If I have any cold critique.
Starting point is 00:47:19 It's number two. If I have any, like I said, it's not the biggest. Okay, but I'm not talking about numbers. I'm not talking about numbers. It's about Jayco's whole catalog, which is crazy records. Anyway. Wet Dreams is its biggest record. I'm telling you, when that shit, the biggest record.
Starting point is 00:47:34 No, when that wet dreams came on, I don't know what niggas were feeling like Saturday. Friday night, it was more niggas that was in tune and in touch with their virginity. in that building. When that song came on, me and Rory both looked at each other. I was like, yo, this is fucking crazy. This is his biggest record. They sang that more than love yours. I would, if I haven't one cold critique,
Starting point is 00:47:56 is that I feel like at this point he might be a little bit too old to keep performing that record. And I love the record. Where dreams? He could never not perform that record. Yes, he could. He going to perform that record until he's 70. He could stop.
Starting point is 00:48:09 And I'd be okay with it. That's his stop. that's his dreams and nightmares wet dreams and nightmares wet dreams and nightmares it's the name of episode when I came to work I knew they was gonna want to piss me off
Starting point is 00:48:22 I was so happy this weekend wait it's a cop I'm not I'm not knocking it I'm saying that's his that is his purple rain is that better Wet dreams Wet dreams is Jay Cole's Purple Ray
Starting point is 00:48:33 Prince couldn't go nowhere without niggas like you're not leaving here until you do purple rain I don't get a fuck with you perform it Niggas couldn't come in here They couldn't. They couldn't come in here and just give it props. That's not, hey, I'm giving props.
Starting point is 00:48:44 Wait, where's there not props? I'm giving him his prop. That is his best. That is, that song right? And I didn't even know, you pulled this up on the streams and what he's getting daily. I didn't even know about that. I didn't even need to see that. I'm going off for just being in the building with sold out with his fans and telling you
Starting point is 00:49:00 what my two ears, my brain and my eyes. I'm looking like, oh, shit. When that came, the reaction was, the reaction was bigger than when he first came out. sitting in the stands, like rapping. He's not wrong. And to the point that I even looked at malls that I cannot believe he's closing with wet dreams because it was so crazy. I thought that was like the finale. I'm telling you, that's his, that's his purple rain. That's his dreams and nightmare. That's his, like every rapper, every artist has the one record that their fan base,
Starting point is 00:49:27 no matter how old they get, they're like, nigga, you have to perform that. That's his record. Wet Dreams is it. I love that workout. That is what it is. They gave workout a lot of shit, but that entire building was singing. work out word for work that entire building was singing i'm saying like loud one of those songs actually if i'm looking at which song which song was performed the loudest uh to me it would be no role models obviously wet dreams power trip and planes went crazy too like the radio songs like those are power trip
Starting point is 00:50:00 he didn't i don't know if he did it saturday night he said one word and then the entire crowd rapped and sang the entire song i had a ball well thank you for that baby d we appreciate that And then I went and linked with Ryan and Peach. Yeah, I was out late. We had Paige out. I mean, we had Ryan out in Best Die, Do or Die Best Die Best Die. Ryan found out, you know what I'm saying? Every time we go somewhere with Peach, Peach,
Starting point is 00:50:22 he'd get dabbed up all over the neighborhood because he always is the alderman. You know what I'm saying? He's the alderman. Exactly. Yeah. I didn't know what aldermans do. He's the alderman. I went.
Starting point is 00:50:33 The fuck is an alderman. I ordered a beer. I was like, yo, Pete was like, what you want? I said, a beer. He handed me a shot. I said, what are you trying to fuck me? like why would you give me a shot if I ordered a beer? I just wanted a Heineken.
Starting point is 00:50:43 Like, why am I being forced back? That's how it goes. Come on, man. Fuck that. Fuck that beer. Just get hammered. Yeah. Did you get Ryan some peppers?
Starting point is 00:50:51 Like some jerk chicken, anything? No, we were, it was three o'clock in the morning. We were in, we live in the gentrified part of that stuff. No, that's not, I'm not saying that that's a good thing. I'm saying that we don't have any, like, spots that are open at late around here. There's nobody on the street cooking it on a grill. Like, we don't have that. It was right in front of Barclay.
Starting point is 00:51:09 Yeah. Barclays, that shit smoked good. Yeah, they were all over there. Yeah, but we were away. We were. I linked up with them around like three. I got to get the jerk to go. See, that's what Charles was to do.
Starting point is 00:51:18 Get the jerk after the J. Cole. Jerk and J. Cole? Jerk after Jem. Yo, I might throw a party. A happy hour jerk and Joke. I don't think nobody coming to that. Jay and J. If you think people won't come to that, you crazy as fuck.
Starting point is 00:51:30 If you think people would not come to that, you're craziest. Jerk and J. If I saw something that said jerk and J. I would keep scrolling. Jerk and Jerm. Well, you wouldn't go to anything. You don't go anywhere. but there are people who come outside.
Starting point is 00:51:41 There are people who come outside that will go. Or if I just did the jerk and the J's, jerk and Jays, and it's like J-Cole and J-Z songs. No, nobody's going to. And jerk. Jerk chicken, J-Cole and J-Z songs and you think nobody coming to my happy hour. That whole sentence.
Starting point is 00:51:55 Don't shorten it. Yeah, niggas ain't going to that. Hey, there's jerk-chicken. Jerk chicken, so I'm going to smell like a grill and all I'm listening to is J-Z and J-Cole all night. That's not like a time. No. It sounds like I just, can I get it to-go?
Starting point is 00:52:09 I'll come get some jerk chicken, but I'm out of here. I'm not listening to Jay Z. Jay Cole said all night. I'm not doing that. Not the verses? No. I think I hate good music. No, I love good music.
Starting point is 00:52:19 I just don't want to hear Jay Z and J. Cole all night. For a happy hour? Like three hours? Can we get some Anita Baker in there, something? Can we switch this shit up? No. I want to hear Jay Cole and Jay Z all night? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:31 I don't want to hear no artists all, like just them all night. I would. Fuck, no. I want to throw a Mariah the sciences listening tonight. You're going to throw a Mariah of science. just listening party? Curry, Curry, Go, and Mariah.
Starting point is 00:52:44 Curry and Mariah. Mariah Curry. Mariah Curry. Oh, fuck, y'all. Yo, give us at least 5% of that party. Moriah and Curry. Oh, my God. Let us be silent partners.
Starting point is 00:52:57 Whatever. Well, I love that after you tried to stunt on Ryan. He big league drew the next day. Ryan back to backshade. Shit off, Ryan. I did not try to stunt on him. Ryan loved going to the show with me. He was happy.
Starting point is 00:53:10 Call him sweet Ryan. Yeah. That's sweet Ryan right there. Sweet Ryan. Why you find him sweet? Oh, sweet O's S-B-U-I-T. Yeah. I thought she's calling him gay.
Starting point is 00:53:19 Sorry. No. Well, he has a gay haircut, but he's not gay. Specifically, he's the L. Yeah, he's the L and the alphabet boy. For sure. So we're going on, we're going to do tomorrow at Madison. Well, today?
Starting point is 00:53:34 No, I'm cool. I'm Jake Hold up. Even though I would like to hear him with better sound, but I'm cool. Good show, though. Really good show. If you haven't seen it, you should go see it. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, if I had a ticket, I don't have a ticket.
Starting point is 00:53:49 Buy one. Support the Dreamers. I bought the shirt. For the next year. They didn't sell that. No, he worked for it. He worked for them. I promise you.
Starting point is 00:54:00 That gentleman didn't work. He don't know. He don't know. Eve. None of them think is wrong. Nicky that sold you that has never met Eve. Can you stand up so that we can see it? But I bought that hat from inside the Barclays.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Yeah. That's a real. Again, game worn, mall sweat is in that hat. I was sweating at a J. Cole show. It feels bootleg. That shit, loose this fuck. Sit on my body. I was so mad.
Starting point is 00:54:25 I didn't buy the bootleg JZ merch outside of Yankee Stadium. It said Saturday, Saturday and Saturday on all the dates. That's fine. And Saturday. That's fine. You was definitely supposed to get that. Yeah. Use definitely.
Starting point is 00:54:36 Yo. Like that's going to be worth 5K on a hundred grailed one day. 100% Yeah, the bootleg shit They're all right, man Support your local bootleger Yeah man If it's a good bootlegs
Starting point is 00:54:47 Support the bootlegs man Gotta support the bootlegs man I gotta support the bootleg I gotta get that I survived the let out shirt for sure You don't have to but They didn't even let you out He was trapped on the roster
Starting point is 00:54:57 Yeah Trapped on the risa Fuck y'all Yeah Well Mo and I got in the car To leave the show And had to go right into
Starting point is 00:55:09 New Music Friday Oh my God We threw that Cardi on, just two fellas going over the Manhattan Bridge. It was disgusting. The Cardi B? Yeah, a Cardi B song. Oh, yeah, I threw that on going over the bridge. I mean, it was like it was about to be midnight.
Starting point is 00:55:21 It was New Music Friday. Needed to hear what the streets was giving us. I like the song. Y'all can come in here and hey. I like, why would we come in here? Hey, I like A-Hat too. I think it'll work. I don't know if it'll work.
Starting point is 00:55:33 I always hope it'll work. And I think that is really good. I don't know if it'll work. I don't know what female rap looks like working. now these days. Do they have a dance for the hook? The hook will work. I guess to your point, the definition of work. I don't know. That's what I'm saying. Like, it's a good song. I love it, you know, but I don't know if it'll, what does work mean in this era of female rap? And Meg already stole this for TikTok so she can't go aha because that's already a Meg thing, right?
Starting point is 00:55:57 They got to come up with something. She can do that. Okay. But she's doing it trying to like take out your BBL like that. If she gets all the chicks to take out their BBLs, like, that's like when Hove got us to take throwbacks off. Oh, they're dancing. to it on TikTok. I didn't know that. Yeah, they're all in... Taking it a BBOL. I'm sorry. Repeat what you just said. I'm sorry. I was looking at the TikTok show. What did you mean? If Cardi can get all the girls to take their BBL out, I think it rivals like when Hove got us all to take throwbacks off. Ah.
Starting point is 00:56:25 No rims on the car. No fat in your butt. No Chrome on the Will. No grown or for real. Okay. I think Cardi looks great. She does look at it. It's amazing. Ma, did you like this on? It's okay to say you don't like it. I mean, it was cool. I mean, it's not for me, though. I can't really speak on records like this. It's not for me.
Starting point is 00:56:49 It's not for me to like. It's cool. I mean, the beat is cool. It moves. I can see how a girl's going to shake to it and all of that. And, you know, it's not for me to like or hate. Like, I just, it's cool. It's just another record, another Cardi record, and hopefully it works.
Starting point is 00:57:07 Like, y'all know how I feel about Cardi. Like, I hope it works for it. But it's not for me to like or. to not like. Like it's not, she didn't record that thinking like, damn, I hope I'm all fuck with this. Like, like, that ain't from,
Starting point is 00:57:20 that type of, that type of music game for me. Um, we can't single out Cardi because most rappers lie in their rap, so I can't even be mad. Don't even say it. It is, I mean,
Starting point is 00:57:30 it's funny to start the song out with you can't trap me. I won't keep it when you just kept it. I mean, but that doesn't mean somebody was trying to trap her. That could have been a baby that she wanted. But let's talk about that. Let's her 92 bricks. Let's not let's not. Let's not talk about, no, away from Card.
Starting point is 00:57:46 I'm saying like the, the perception of a woman being trapped, right? I think it's brave. I think it's her right to choose. I think it was a revolutionary line. No, because trapped, it usually would be if you feel like the person is trying to keep you in a relationship that you don't want to be in or have some attachment to you forever. when you're talking about having a kid by him with a person. But it usually would also, isn't it, from what I can remember about being trapped is
Starting point is 00:58:19 there is some like person is trying to get something out of me other than a baby. Whether it's like financial gain, whether it's. No, not exactly. It was never that. The trap comes from the upper hand financially, yes. Because if a man says she's trying to trap me, it's usually, man, like she got pregnant, she's trying to keep it. I don't want a baby with her.
Starting point is 00:58:40 It's usually because the man has. something financially to gain. I don't, I think because you have something financial to gain, like you kind of look at it in that light and you're around people who have something financial to gain, so you look at it in that light, but poor people be trapping poor people with babies all the time.
Starting point is 00:58:55 Oh, those are just like, we're not talking about those people. Oh my God. Just beep it. No, we're talking about like people that are healthy, functioning, healthy, mentally healthy people. Yeah, women do not just try to trap men and men do not just try to trap women because of
Starting point is 00:59:10 financial gain. People try to track it. No, I'm not saying. I didn't say only. Listen to what I'm saying. I heard what you are. Obviously, you didn't. I'm saying finances is part of it.
Starting point is 00:59:19 It can be. That's what I said. No, but that's not what you said. You say usually that's why. And what I'm telling you is that is not. I said finances is part of it too. I said now speaking from Cardi, she said financially. She ain't trying to be with nobody for no financial gain.
Starting point is 00:59:34 So for her to say that it's a little different because she's a breadwinner herself. She has the financial overhand. That's why somebody would. try to trap her because now I got a baby and yeah she also has but like Kevin Federline tried to trap Britney Spears right but to what you were saying come because coming off of what you were saying because you was like well she kept it but her baby fathers are both successful they have yeah so she can't be talking about that that's excluded no of course not so that's what I'm speaking to like she can't be talking about guys that she was with like she that's just a line for anybody to take him like yeah like
Starting point is 01:00:09 I could say that. I could make a video getting that bar off because I could relate to it. It's a funny bar to say, I'm sure women are going to love to scream it at the club. That's what I'm saying. It's a fun line. But Cardi probably in her life right now is not dating anybody that's trying to trap her for financial gain. Because she's not going to be fucking with somebody that don't have shit going on. You never know.
Starting point is 01:00:30 You're right. You never know. Can't argue that. Y'all are so close to the point. And it's just like, whew, going right over your head. I still can't believe. Y'all are proving my point by exactly everything you're just. saying. Well, Cardi only dates people that are on her level, even if we're not talking about her. Cardi only
Starting point is 01:00:44 dates people on her level, right? So then nobody would be trapping anybody for financial gain because everybody's rich. So then what would other people be trapping them for? What would somebody be trapping her for if it's not for financial game? Which is my point that people don't only, that people don't trap for financial game. Some people do trap for financial gain. First of all, let's go deeper than what baby Dee saying. A woman can't be trapped. She don't want to be trapped. That's the fact. Unless she's very religious. Yeah. Like, what are you talking? talk about a man can't trap you if you don't want to be trapped you can be trapped because be on the riser somebody can somebody can convince you to have a child now you're going to
Starting point is 01:01:20 some other shit a nigger can't convince you nothing if you don't want to be trapped i just won't speak like if i'm not going to get my point you're not going to be trapped there ain't no convincing you if you're like i think i'm not having your baby body there's no convincing you okay there's no what would a man say to be like you know what i'm going to have his baby even though i don't want to that's crazy in itself to even think that's here's all right all right All right, hold on, hold on. Let me give some pushback. There could be a scenario where a man says, let's keep the baby.
Starting point is 01:01:46 We're going to be a family. And then a month in, just jets. And now she's sitting here with a baby when she thought she was going to have a family and support and the father be there and the father leaves. Yeah, but no, no. That's a, that's a form. Yeah, you're talking about something totally different. I'm talking about going into the pregnancy, you found out you pregnant.
Starting point is 01:02:02 And you feel like, nah, he's trying to trap me. It ain't going to be no conversation of, yo, let's be a family. You know what I mean? like I want to, if you feel like he's trying to trap you, that's not the conversation that's going to convince you to keep the baby. No, of course not. That's all I'm saying. Like, that's not, no.
Starting point is 01:02:18 So a woman holds that power. Like, a woman can't be trapped if she doesn't want to be trapped. At least that's how I look at it. She's the one that has to carry this baby. Because you're pro choice and you think it's her choice. It's her choice. Trap is when a man convinces a woman to get her tubes tied. So they can't have a baby with somebody else.
Starting point is 01:02:47 But you can reverse that, though, no? I don't know about the second you can. I don't know about tubes. A woman can get tubes untied, no? At least I thought that was a... I mean, let's not ask the only woman in here and just keep talking as men. Hey, I don't...
Starting point is 01:02:59 Probably, who knows? Yes, you can. Tuba litigation is often reversible through a major microsurgical operation. They just untied the knot. Yeah. I know, because I know women that has... Just got to make sure it's not double-knotted.
Starting point is 01:03:11 Yeah, as long as it's not as a sailor. If they hit you with the sailors, not that's... A bowling? What are they called? If they hit you, well, then Boy Scout not, it's over. The one right over left and pull. Yeah, yeah, you're not.
Starting point is 01:03:24 The anchor not. The anchor not. The anchor not. Yeah. The shit that's holding the fucking intrepid to the, yeah, yeah. That's in her service. Yeah, that's not. That's, you're not coming back.
Starting point is 01:03:35 There's no reversing that. We don't know how to take that out. I don't even know how we got on that. The constricted not. Double fishermen's bend. Yeah, if they hit you with the double fishermen's bend. Yeah, so. Like, ah.
Starting point is 01:03:46 Yeah, it's over. It's over. All right. Besides Cardi, we got new meek music. A lot of dreaming. We did get a lot of dreaming. Dream chasers, dream vills. Who's the name of this again?
Starting point is 01:04:00 Nightmares to dreams. This is a very interesting choice of a record. To remix. And I say this all the time. Roy, you know that. I'll continue to say it. Dreams and nightmares is the best and the worst thing to happen to Meek Mill. It's his biggest song.
Starting point is 01:04:24 It's his most notable song. It's arguably the greatest intro to a rap album ever. And I feel like because of that, Meek has been trying to capture that moment, that energy, that feel for most of his career post that song. And to now make a, I guess, was this a rendition, a version of that, it's just a little awkward. It's like, why, though? Why nightmares to dreams?
Starting point is 01:05:01 You got me. Like, I just don't understand it. Yes, we know Meek is rapping on there. He's talking to talk. The beat is good. But just, it's very, it's telling to a degree. And it kind of validates how I feel about the dreams and nightmares record. He understands that that energy that he had in that moment, that sound, that intro, that it's
Starting point is 01:05:27 in the Mount Rushmore of greatest intros and rap history. But again, I feel like he's been, that's like the bar that he's been trying to get over and shoot and aim for so long. So just rap over the Vigan? That's what I'm saying. After you already did it. in a perfect way. This is,
Starting point is 01:05:45 but this is what I'm saying, trying to, trying to recapture that, you know, that energy. And it's like, it just, it just reads a little,
Starting point is 01:05:54 just like, kind of like, huh? Like, but why? Why would you, why not just make an entirely different sound and an entirely different record?
Starting point is 01:06:04 Something that we've never heard you do and something we've never heard you rap about versus trying to do nightmares to dreams. Like, I just don't understand why, he would do that. And again, it's not, it's not like it's bad. It's not a bad, you know, record, but it's just an awkward record. It's our journey don't stop believing. And I don't know, would you expect journey to just, they would never re-sing over that. Right. Like Prince would never
Starting point is 01:06:30 do purple rain. He would never call it rain purple. Yeah. And then like, it would be like, it would be like, yo, would you just leave that beat. Leave that where it's at. I hate to do this because I think Meek gets a bad rap and I kind of hate, even though I participated sometimes in an objective way, I hate the Meek Mill hate train. I think Meek gets,
Starting point is 01:06:51 I think he does it to himself a lot. But I, I've always hated the hate that Meek gets because I think he's a really talented artist. He just makes some questionable decision sometimes, as we all do. But I always want to come in here and, like, support Meek because I fuck with Meek, and then stuff like this happens.
Starting point is 01:07:08 And I'm just like, what is the thought process here? right maybe there is one i know meek is independent now and maybe this being one of the most probably the most stream song he has shazam like all right now i have a version of it that i own with the same b right i don't know but meek's most uh stream song i'm sure it's want to see something it's probably that or um what's the drake one going bad yeah dreams a nightmare and then going bad um right i don't know if that was his top I just don't really get it like,
Starting point is 01:07:46 I think everyone just wants good meek mill music and this is just like, all right, you have some momentum and then we just put out part two of something from 2012. It's going bad and then dreams and nightmare. Okay. Yeah, but again, you know.
Starting point is 01:08:01 Like, is this his version of Taylor Swift re-singing all her music after Scooter Braun stole it? It's like, I mean, like no, I'm trying to no, because I fuck with meek so much and again, like, I listen to like the first eight bars of it. And I was like, what do we? What is the point of this? Yeah. But maybe there's a reason we don't know, so I don't want to come out the gate and just shit on it.
Starting point is 01:08:22 I'm not going to go and listen to it, but I am always going to listen to Dream the Nightmares. I don't think any DJ is going to play Dreams and Nightmares and be like, wait, part two and switch to it. But I don't know. Maybe this is his version of testing the marketplace now that he's independent with one of his most proven records, sampling himself so he can have the ownership over the, I don't fucking know. But maybe. I'm trying to shoot me some bail because no one ever does. I get it. But it's just. Again, to me, it just was kind of awkward to see that and then hear the music. And I'm just like, but in a way, I understand it because, again, that is dreams and nightmares is his,
Starting point is 01:08:56 his holy grail. That is his, you know what I mean, his record that is his most notable meek record, most notable meek sound. Like when that comes on, it still gets the same reaction that it got the first year it came out. It's one of the greatest rap songs ever. Yeah, so I understand that, but it's just like, again, it's a gift and the curse to have a record like that because, again, that's still the one that you're aiming for. But now to kind of like really draw from that moment and name the song, Nightmares of Dreams and even the music is the same, it's just like, it's just a little... I mean, there's a little bit of a difference. It's a little different, you know.
Starting point is 01:09:37 Little tweaks here and there. But it's, again, trying to capture that moment and that energy. I understand it. I get why meek is doing it. It's just I would rather see him do something totally different, sound like something we've never heard him sound like. And still be meek, but like give us something completely different than dreams and nightmares.
Starting point is 01:09:57 Or don't, but just not the same exact beat. Just give us some regular meek snares and shoot the video in fucking South Philly and Golda Day. Right. Demaris, I look to you, do you feel like he surpassed your, original with this effort?
Starting point is 01:10:15 No, I don't feel like he surpassed the original. I would have liked to hear somebody else sample it, not him sample himself, but, I mean, if anybody's going to sample you, you should do it. I'm not mad that he did it. And also, this is the most niggas have talked about me in a long time. So whether people like it or not or want to hear something or not, it's working as far as a marketing strategy, these have not talked about me like this in a very long time. Yeah, but I mean, anybody to get anybody to talk about somebody, but is there some
Starting point is 01:10:42 ROI with talking about it. Streams. People are going to go listen to it and see if it's better than the original. I just don't think anyone's going back to it. I don't think they're staying power with the streams. But I could be wrong. I don't know. Maybe that shit is going crazy at a Phillies game right now. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:11:00 Some people might like it. But I don't have a marketing strategy for Meek. And I'm sure he's trying to figure out how to survive in this modern era. So everybody's sampling something these days. Well, I like that Meek is putting out music. independently. He's been talking about it for a few years, and I know his Atlantic situation wasn't the best. So good for me. It's his career now. He can make the choices and figure it out. But I'm always here for Meek's music. So.
Starting point is 01:11:25 No, a record is hard, though. That new Waleigh joint is crazy. Overthink. That shit is dope. He's been teasing that shit for like five months on Instagram. I'm so happy that he finally put that shit up. Yeah. Because he'd post a snippet on his Instagram. I'd be like, all right, man, stop posting this then. Like if you're not going to put this shit out. That hook on overthink is crazy. Yeah. I think Walee been kicking ass, man. Good for him.
Starting point is 01:11:50 While they've been kicking ass, man. While they've been dropping some really, really good music. The way we've talked about how Hov and Nas aged with Life is Good in 444, Wale right now is aging
Starting point is 01:12:05 the best for his peers and rap, I feel like. I like the way he's aging with his music. I like the last album, the content on it, but still making shit you could listen to outside. Like, I'm never on the side of everything has to be 444. Like, please tell me about
Starting point is 01:12:24 your family. I still want to go outside and party. He has a perfect balance, I think, of that. And this Overthink record, I think, is a great example of that. This is how you age in hip-hop. The only thing I want from Wild Age now, this is great. I love this Overthink record. But the only thing I want from now is the challenge himself. Because this is still a safe
Starting point is 01:12:40 record. Like the Waleigh, the Leon Thomas joint. Anytime, it's a cheat code. Anytime you know anytime you get an R&B dude on the hook, it's like, well, Wiley does that better than most. This is what I'm saying. You got the Miguel, got the Usher record, Holy Wally was it, Holy Matrimony. You got the Leon Thomas joint. You got this now with El Mien. Like, I want, I want Wale to challenge himself to not put out another record with an R&B hook for at least, a year and a half.
Starting point is 01:13:11 No, keep doing it. It works. Yeah, but I'm just, just challenge yourself creatively as an artist. But you don't think, I'll get pushed back there because like even on attention deficit his first studio album, like he had Afro beats on that before any rapper was doing that. He always pushes himself with sound before.
Starting point is 01:13:26 That's what I'm saying. Now, I want him to get away from this R&B hook, that. Like, leave that alone. You've done it and you do it well. But now let's do something else. Just as a fan of Wiley, I want to challenge him like let's see what you let's see what you can do next creative but he's true i mean he's done yeah he's done it yeah but i mean do it again but i mean do it again but don't do this again don't give us the rn b hook again for a minute because this is finally working for like this is
Starting point is 01:13:53 it's been working for him he always has like a almost this is this is what wala he do this shit is he might have a versus with rn b hooks against anybody but i don't think go ahead did burs i'm sir what i'm saying is now wale is getting the he's back to getting the attention that he deserves when it comes to music. He was a long time ago, and there was a dark spot where he was like, I feel like nobody's giving me the credit I deserve, this, this and that. Now he's getting it again, and it's because this formula
Starting point is 01:14:16 is working so well for him. I don't want you to go and switch the formula now. His top record, well, outside of no hands, bad featuring Rihanna. Lodus Flavon featuring Miguel. Number six, on chill Jeremiah. Love hate thing. Love hate thing. Love that record. And then you go to they need to know. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:33 Then it's, uh, Tierra Thomas, bad. Dice Pineapples. Yeah, like we love with Bryce and Tiller, matrimony, usher, the body, Jeremiah, like, he does that. That's, that's, but you feel like this overthink record. I don't think it's like that R&B love song type of record. It's kind of a depressing fucking song. It's not an arm. He's sampling SWV, isn't it?
Starting point is 01:14:56 No, I'm, but I'm saying that. That's not SWV? Who is that that, that MIEC sampling? I love it SWV too. Oh, it is SWV. Just get it. Get it together. No, but I'm saying the content isn't like bad.
Starting point is 01:15:09 No, I know it's not bad. Or like Leonche, like it's, it's, yeah, to me it's more of like a, it's a CECO. You have a dope-ass R&B hook as a rapper. It's a layup for you if you can really rap. Oh, for sure, but I'm saying that the content on that is not as a radio friendly as all the ones we just named before. Oh, I'm not talking about. That's what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about the whole other.
Starting point is 01:15:29 I'm not talking about the quality of the record. Like, that's what I'm speaking to. I don't care what the radio thinks. I'm saying that record when you have an R&B hook as a rapper that can really rap and can really style and you got charisma on the track
Starting point is 01:15:43 and that shit is a layout for you when you get a they send WaleA that and that shit was open beat and then LMe came in on the hook with that Wale probably was like he probably did this song
Starting point is 01:15:51 in 15 minutes but that's a layup for a nigga that can rap he might have wrote that sounds like a Waleigh hook too he might have wrote that hook Get it together is by 702 not as the movie
Starting point is 01:16:01 702 yes I mean that's little SWV. Yeah. And I just found out like yesterday that that's the area because I never knew. Vegas?
Starting point is 01:16:12 I never knew that. That's why they were called something else. But yeah, I don't know if this is like on the same level we're going to push this as a single. I'm just happy he put the record out. But he's one of the few rappers
Starting point is 01:16:24 that I feel like keeps that genre of rap alive of the 16 R&B hook 16 because that used to be the standard for everyone. Like you had to have that record in the mid-2000s of here's my girl record. No, that's, that kind of disappeared.
Starting point is 01:16:41 That formula is, is classic. It's a timeless formula. No doubt about it. And Waleigh has done it time and time again and done it at a high level. We just did it with Leon Thomas last year. So was that this year last year? Last year. End of last year, November.
Starting point is 01:16:57 Yeah. But the record really started to pop. Yeah. So we know that's what Bale does. Like I'm just saying now I want to hear. while they get into a different bag. Just give us something. Because the Leon Thomas record is still,
Starting point is 01:17:10 that shit is still going off. So then to come with this record now was kind of like, you know what I mean? Like, is this going to step on that a little bit? I like that he's putting out music. I like that. No, I love that he's putting on music.
Starting point is 01:17:22 I like that Cardi, I mean, by Cardi's timeline is coming back quick. When the Cardi's album come up? Two years ago? Not two years ago. It's been two years already? No, last year.
Starting point is 01:17:33 Come out last year. Last year? Yeah. That's quick for Cardi to come right back. For a song, no, she keeps a song. She takes a long time to do an album, but her song, she always releases a song. I don't think that that's that quick. For a loose.
Starting point is 01:17:45 She'll have one or two, yeah. But again, I just like that. People are releasing music. Yeah, rappers are not just disappearing after, like, while they just did the album, did a full tour. Usually it's like, let me sit my ass down for a second. So I'm always happy that they release music. No. Today's show is brought to you by a presenting sponsor, Hard Rock, Bet,

This episode is still about peace and prosperity. Always. Unity. Every episode. But, you know, as a reputable news channel that we are, we have to deliver what the people want. Where we did not deliver the facts.
Starting point is 01:22:58 Right. Jason Lee on Monday put out a trailer for an interview with ASAP Rocky where he does say this. Are you boxing as? I did. Would you fight Drake? Me and Knuckles like the Irish. You took a re-boxing. Now, this is coming out on Wednesday.
Starting point is 01:23:17 We don't know how that was clipped. Could be a whole big misunderstanding. And the people over at BET, who looks like they produced this with Jason Lee. Well, if it's anybody that's going to clip up something to give it a misunderstanding, let me tell you who the king of that may be. It might be Jason Lee. He going to clip up some shit and create some energy around something that may or may not be taken out of context in the clip.
Starting point is 01:23:42 I'm speaking out of turn. I don't completely know. But doesn't Jason kind of pride himself in being pretty factual when it comes to gossip standards? Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Like, Jason's like, he's not Tasha Kay. Right.
Starting point is 01:23:54 But when it's something like this, him asking Rocky, would he fight Drake? Great question, by the way, though. Of course, you know, Rocky may have said something else right after that. But somewhere in there, if Rocky says bare knuckle like the Irish, could have been referring to the clip. Yeah. He's going to clip that together. So, I mean, you know, just get the people going.
Starting point is 01:24:13 That's all. I mean, as long as there's not semen on the floor, I think it'll be a good fight. Yeah, if it's semen on the floor, then Rocky don't stand a chance. It's over. Or he has experience. He got a seaman legs? He does have a sea legs. He has his sea legs.
Starting point is 01:24:30 Going in with experience, you never know. He now knows how it, you know. Yeah, he goes out of plant his feet. Yeah, no. Watch out for that. It's like black ice. Like, you watch. You know on the roads where when it's black ice, you know like, no, I'm not getting that.
Starting point is 01:24:43 He's a hydroplane before. Yeah, I'm not getting in that lane over there. I'm not going to do that. I know how that the water freezes over there. Like, yeah. I mean, of course I don't want to see anyone fight. If it's a controlled fight that everyone agrees to, I'm always here for that type of shit. But obviously, I don't think either of them would fight.
Starting point is 01:25:04 But, you know, put peace to the side. Who y'all got? Rocky 109, Drake 109. How many rounds? Rocky and Drake are not fighting. Of course not. It's not going to happen. That would never happen. I agree with you. It will never happen. Why do you think it'll never happen? Because I don't think Rocky and Drake are ever going to be in close enough proximity to even get into a fight. No, that's never going to happen. Drake and ASAP Rocky would need $1 billion to fight each other.
Starting point is 01:25:35 Which is, I mean, with the fighting market now and gambling market, that is attainable. I don't think, I don't think Drake is doing that. He's not getting a ring box glove sanctioned fight. He offered that to Kendrick though, and I believed him. When he was like, let's just put the gloves on and fight. That was a rumor from both sides that that happened behind the scenes. I don't know if that's true. You'll have to ask Glass of Malone because he knows everything.
Starting point is 01:26:00 Yeah, but I don't know if that was like, yo, let's get a bag for it. No, I think, you know, we let's meet up. Let's catch a fade and no cameras, no, no homies. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I think that's the only way that would happen with these two. That's what I'm speaking to it. No, no. You just say a billion dollars, like set it up.
Starting point is 01:26:16 And then I said, I pivoted to what the rumor was with the Kendrick shit, that Drake is not above fighting without cameras and just, you know. I don't think no man is above that. There's a lot of men that are square one. Yeah. I'll take that back. It's definitely. I may or may not know a few, but yeah, there's men that are above, above fighting, like, meeting up. and that's just square.
Starting point is 01:26:40 Yeah. I don't know. I've seen, I've seen some footage of Drake sparring. He doesn't look like he doesn't know what he's doing. He looked all right in the ring as far as mechanics go. That obviously changes no matter what when you're in a fight. But mechanics are important.
Starting point is 01:27:00 Mechanics are important. Out of all the rappers that we've seen of their sparring or hitting the bag videos, Drake does have one of the better ones. Mm-hmm. he's one of the few rappers that actually looked like he kind of knew what he was doing in the ring. But then again, you know, Rocky has slid on semen and Rikers and that's a world I don't know and I don't know if I could survive that. Even with the mechanics I have. I think I may lose that Rikers fight.
Starting point is 01:27:23 Yeah. So I think it's really just depends the environment. I don't know. I just don't, you know, this shit is just, it's just for talk. I really don't wrap my brain around this shit. Obviously, we'll watch it and we'll talk about it. it on our Thursday recording Friday episode, but there was more in that trailer.
Starting point is 01:27:43 Jason did ask him, did you steal Rihanna? And he was like, no, here's what happened. And it appeared like that was the cliffhanger that he was going to tell the history. Here's what happened.
Starting point is 01:27:51 Bear fist knuckles. Bear knuckles like the Irish. Not that I care, but I'm still here for the history of the three. They've been rapping about it enough. Yeah, but do we need, what haven't we heard, though?
Starting point is 01:28:08 Like, we don't. I don't need to hear about. Rihanna's past with her exes. I don't think that's, I would like to just hear about her and Rocky's love story. I feel like she's caught enough strays and all of this bullshit. People always bringing her up.
Starting point is 01:28:21 I think that's what he was about to get into was more the love story, not a love story. I care about that. I don't. I won't want to be bringing up my ex at the time they talk about B. That shit would irritate the fuck out of me. I don't care how famous he is.
Starting point is 01:28:32 So just like. But also, Rocky, and this is not a dig at Jason Lee whatsoever. We've said, think he's one of the better interviewers from the gossip world. Rocky knew what he was doing by taking a Jason Lee interview. Like he's here for the boat like you. Of course. Rocky's not being blindsided. He knows the questions that Jason Lee is going to ask. To be fair, but him and Jason
Starting point is 01:28:56 Lee and Rihanna all have a very close relationship. Yeah, great. He's only is very close to Rihanna. I know. So it's so it's messy yes, but it's you have more control. It's a level of responsibility too. Yeah, there's a level of comfort. There's some shit that Jason Lee won't ask him. out of pure respect for his friendship. I don't think it's anything Jason won't ask him. I think it's shit that Jason know what won't get cut. Yeah. Like he won't be able to put it out.
Starting point is 01:29:19 Like, I think he knows that. So in return, yes, he knows what not to ask him because he knows that they wouldn't, they wouldn't okay. I saw. Or I just think Jason will ask any question but knows a way to ask it, if that makes any way to frame it. Because he may know the, he probably knows the answer already and is going to set it up in a way that,
Starting point is 01:29:43 You still get the truth, but in a more favorable way of how it goes. But, I mean, interesting timing. Why is that? Album's been out, and I'm not saying you shouldn't continue to promote. You always should. Middle of a tour. I mean, I figured this would have happened before or around the time the tour was announced in an album town. But, I mean, we're in a new era where you got to keep promoting your album for years after it's out.
Starting point is 01:30:13 So I'm not ever mad at a rapper doing an interview months after the album, but just interesting, Tommy. Well, find a way to stay in the algorithm. That's all. Man, Rocky's selling out arenas. Yeah. I mean, he's going to do that. He's so gorgeous. It's a nice-looking man.
Starting point is 01:30:33 Like that? He's gorgeous. Rocky's a, like. You like that. That was crazy. Wow. Look at Rocky going to you like that. I'm asking you to be crazy.
Starting point is 01:30:43 The man, she said, he's a gorgeous guy. He's a gorgeous guy. I think Rocky's an handsome guy. That's what's up. You can't identify when a man is universally handsome to women? I've never looked at a man and said he's universally handsome. But you're aware of being around women. That would be enough that they find, you know that most women find that guy attractive. I mean, I could, yeah, I'm not, yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:11 You can see a guy with like, I'll see a guy. he has a good rapport The ladies like him Yeah, but I've never said Yo, he's universally handsome No, I think he fits You can walk in a room And it's five niggas in there
Starting point is 01:31:23 And you're gonna know which one The girls gonna like Even before you see him Interact with girls You could tell which one The girls will find attractive Who me? Yes, you
Starting point is 01:31:31 I don't know I don't look at niggas enough Like that to know that I'm comfortable myself I don't walk in the room And didn't even see who's in there I know I know when a man is handsome That's what's up
Starting point is 01:31:44 Now sometimes when the trend hit, when like the medium ugly and then the really ugly guys started being popular, then I got confused. I didn't know who I should fear when I was at the party. Well now. The playing field was so confusing. Well, now I just got to be. But Clevicchio has brought the world back to traditional, traditionally handsome men. Who? Listen, man.
Starting point is 01:32:05 You're not up to day, bro. We muggy. I don't know who the hell that is. I don't know who you're going to. I don't know who you're going to. I don't know who you're going to. You're just a jester, bro. That's what so.
Starting point is 01:32:18 But yeah, we'll watch the interview. We'll talk about it at the end of the week. Is there anything that we absolutely have to get to? I do have to grab Amara relatively soon. I took her to the Bronx Zoo where they have like giraffes, lions, corillas. And she cried because there was no pigs or cows. I mean, that's her vibe. That makes sense.
Starting point is 01:32:41 Yeah, that's all brand. That's old brand for Amara. So then I bought her a pepper pig in the gift shop because we couldn't find pigs. I was like, you would have probably, it would have been cheaper to just take her to a farm. I was like, we could have stayed in Jersey. Why the fuck did I just drive an hour and a half to the Bronx? You want to really give up a good time?
Starting point is 01:32:56 Walk her past the butcher market right there on the corner. You mean scar her for life? So she could never look at a dog the same? Show her that pig hanging up on that fucking metal hook down the block. Yo, I was parked on our block. This was last weekend maybe. And they had the pig truck open. Usually, you know, they're hanging.
Starting point is 01:33:16 They just had a homie like, laid out on the floor like of the truck bed hanging. I was like at least properly hang him up. You eat that. I don't eat pork that often. You eat it though. Yeah. No, bacon is delicious, but I'll take that out of my brain.
Starting point is 01:33:33 Have y'all seen Obsession? With obsession. Yonze? Or obsessed? Obsessed or obsession? Name of that movie. Obsession. Yeah, I had it right.
Starting point is 01:33:40 The one with Beyonce in the- I feel like I have. No, the new movie obsession. Oh, no. I haven't. Oh, got to watch it. Some movies and theaters? It was, but now it's on Peacock.
Starting point is 01:33:50 Go home and watch it and tell me who you think the villain is. That was one of those who done it? No, it ain't who done it, but just watch it. We'll go home and watch it. It's actually very funny. It's a horror movie that's funny as fuck. Horror romance. Obsession.
Starting point is 01:34:05 Okay. What does the trailer say? After breaking the mysterious one-wish willow to win his crush his heart, a hopeless romantic gets exactly what he asked for. However, he soon. discovers that some desires come at a dark and sinister price. Okay. The way you're speaking, I feel like he's the problem.
Starting point is 01:34:26 Just watch the movie. Obsession. I'm going to check that out. It's on Peacock. It wasn't, it wasn't, I think it is still in some theaters, but it's like movie a year outside of Odyssey. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:40 What, obsession? Yeah. It says the budget was 750,000. Oh, yeah. Yeah, 750,000. They made like, what did they open to? Yeah. At least that it cost $10 million to make it.
Starting point is 01:34:53 $750,000 is like the lowest movie budget I've ever heard. Yeah. Oh, it grows $17.2 million on opening weekend. Oh, you're talking about flipping the brick. God. Them niggas. And that's just opening. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:35:05 Yeah, they feel good for them. Yeah, those numbers, that's like low, that's a very low budget. Under a million dollars for a movie, that's like. And you grow 17 in the first weekend? Bro, you know low budget films, $5 million is low for the budget. It's gross $474 million. So far. Who produced that?
Starting point is 01:35:21 That's the illest nigga ever. Because it's an original story. Remember? And it's an original story. And those work now. People are tired of seeing the same shit. Curry Barker, director. Wow.
Starting point is 01:35:34 Salute to whoever produced that one. That was crazy. Oh, all right. They still didn't beat my guys, though. Who? Napoleon Dynamite $400,000. That probably grossed a billion. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:46 That's probably the illusion. They made that for $400,000. Yeah. Yeah, that's crazy. DVD sales is a while a throwback. But yeah, it's a good movie. I saw that. I watched Strung with Chloe Bailey, which I liked the beginning of it.
Starting point is 01:36:02 And then it got, I started seeing Tyler Perry's pen midway through the movie. Okay. Yeah, it was good, but then I started seeing Tyler Perry's pen. And I was like, ah. Did they give her a real shot at acting? Because in the other show, I feel like they just used her ass. No, she was the main character in us. Okay.
Starting point is 01:36:18 And she's a very good actress. The writing is what I'm not. I had an issue with. The writing is what I had an issue with. But the first half of the movie is really good. And then it takes a turn. You're like, I don't know why the fuck y'all did that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:36:32 So I watched that. I was watching shit yesterday. None of y'all watched Tuna yet? Y'all still didn't watch Tuna. No. All right, man. Fuck y'all. You told us to what is that?
Starting point is 01:36:40 You told us to watch that? Yeah. Last week, last Thursday I told you that I watched that. Tuna. I'll add that one. Your last recommendation. Dustin Hoffman is in it. Oh, I'm here for that.
Starting point is 01:36:50 I'm about to leave here and go see Spider. man. I do want to see Spider-Man. Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo. What? Without me? What's up? I thought we were supposed
Starting point is 01:37:00 to go see Spider-Man. We ain't, you ain't never thought no shit like that. Because we never said we was going to see. We was going to see the last Spider-Man together from fucking five years ago. We had to talk about this.
Starting point is 01:37:09 We was talking about movies, though. Yeah, when you first hired me, we were supposed to go see Spider-Man. You told me, you bringing up, oh shit, that's what y'all women like to do. I'm talking about we got past that. When we was talking about my movies like three weeks ago.
Starting point is 01:37:21 Mm-hmm. And we said Spider-Man was coming out. We agreed to go see it. It's been like four different Peter Parker since you guys originally talked about. No, it's the same Peter Parker. It's just every phase of his life. That's fucked up, baby, do? No, I was fucked up.
Starting point is 01:37:34 Hey, niggas never called me, set a date, sent me a ticket, no nothing. All right. So I'm going to take myself. Me, myself, and I is all I got in the end. That's what I found out. Born alone. I'm going to be my own best friend. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 01:37:48 I did watch the Idaho murders, the number. number one shit on Netflix right now. And as someone that likes the crime docs, I think we gotta draw a line somewhere, guys. Of course, we all have warped in crazy brains that we all love crime docs because they're true, like real people are dying. This one is like,
Starting point is 01:38:07 you don't even get some of the satisfaction of trying to solve the crime. It's just some psychopath that murdered four innocent college kids. Like, I don't need three episodes of this. I don't even want to know this happened. And there's no disrespect to the family. anything like that, just certain things I don't think
Starting point is 01:38:23 my brain needs to hear about. I agree because that other doc on Netflix maternal instinct. I heard the first 10 minutes of that. That shit was crazy. I was on the phone with somebody why they were watching it and I was like, wow, I'm cool. No, like to know that there's people that will go
Starting point is 01:38:40 to those depths of their lies and like really do shit like that is scary. Like, you could have just been like, Yo, I'm lying. Yo, I'm lying. Because everybody knew he was lying anyway. Like, you really was like, no.
Starting point is 01:38:57 And then, like, went and did the craziest shit. Went full, Jesse. Did the craziest shit you could ever do. I'm like, how is this real? Like, that, I'm not going to lie. That, that's one documentary that really had me, like, sitting there, like, this is, fucking insane. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:39:14 And now with this, this doc, obviously, the case is getting way more attention. It was a popular case. I didn't know about it. but once, you know, you watch a doc, you start Googling in the middle of it. Apparently, it did get a lot of press when it did happen. But now the kid that admitted to it
Starting point is 01:39:30 and obviously did it, is taking back his plea and it's trying to get a new trial. This is the Idaho murders. Oh, the Idaho murders. And yeah, it's just, it's sick that some of the crime docs and that stuff, there is some satisfaction
Starting point is 01:39:48 like Zodiac killer that's awful because that many people died, but there's like, how can I solve this myself? Right. This is just like, yo, let me tell you about some psychopath that killed four innocent kids. That's it. That's the dopamine that you get from that. Yep.
Starting point is 01:40:03 People like it. There's another documentary on Netflix about they're in jail talking to the girl who killed her. They're trying to figure out if she killed her boyfriend, our purpose or accident. Remember we talked about that case when it first happened? It's what I told you all that people's brains then developed to a certain age. and all of that. Yeah, the documentary changed my mind. She's like, I was like trying to give her a little bit of bail.
Starting point is 01:40:27 She was wrong, but I was saying like she's young. Like her brain isn't fully developed. I was watching her now like, no, it's fully developed now. And yeah, there's something wrong. Something awful of that girl. Still to this day. Yeah. When I ran into a brick wall and tried to kill everybody in the car, she'd only one that survived.
Starting point is 01:40:43 Oh, yeah. That was crazy. Mm-hmm. The crash. McKenzie Shrella. We talked about the original case first happened. Yeah, that was wild. those kids were so traumatized.
Starting point is 01:40:54 They're roommates and, of course, everyone has the conspiracy for it, but there's no conspiracy. The kid that they admitted he did it, he did the shit. Like, there's evidence, DNA. He said he did it. Their roommates didn't call the cops for eight hours. Why do you keep going back to the Idaho? Shut the fuck up about that documentary, worry?
Starting point is 01:41:10 Yeah. God damn. No, I'm just saying. Did you know one of the victims? No. My condoence is. Damaris went to a whole other documentary and he coming back and, you know, it was so crazy.
Starting point is 01:41:19 I'm thinking he's talking about the documentary Demaris was talking. She was talking about the developmental health of that person. And I was going to compare it to the Idaho doc where the two roommates that were not murdered were so traumatized that they didn't call the police for eight hours. They just laid in an apartment with four of their dead friends with stab wounds. Oh, that's crazy. Yeah, no, that's, that's. So I was tying it to that.
Starting point is 01:41:42 I was just going back to talk about it. That's some weird shit. I'm going to somewhere and my friends are dead. I'm not sitting in there for eight hours talking about what are we going to do. I mean, originally everyone thought they did it because it was like, why did you take eight hours? They were killed at 4 a minute. That's what anybody would think. You was in here for eight hours with these dead bodies and y'all just called the police.
Starting point is 01:42:00 Which is so crazy. They definitely didn't do it. And another kid definitely did it, which is wild. Because I would have been like, what were y'all doing for eight hours? Yeah, that's crazy. I'm not sitting in over. Where they sleep or like? No, they said that they were so traumatized.
Starting point is 01:42:13 I don't fucking know. It's weird. But again, there's no conspiracy. Like, that kid did the shit. It's DNA, his phone. Like, he said he did it. There's nothing I could see that's traumatized me for eight hours, but I don't call a police. They didn't even know the kid.
Starting point is 01:42:27 Yeah, no, that is nuts to not call the cops. Yeah, like I'm traumatized. What? Yeah, as soon as I see it, I'm traumatized and I'm picking up my phone. Police, like, this body's everywhere. And I'm black. So I know what y'all going to try to do. It ain't me.
Starting point is 01:42:46 Yeah, it ain't me. Get here now. So we can figure out. Imagine the cops show. his mall with his snapback on in the Jesus piece in Idaho. Man, it wasn't me. For what I got on. I'm calling the police.
Starting point is 01:43:01 I am an ally. Fuck that. Idaho? It will hang my ass out. That'd be the quickest trial ever. Yeah. He did it. No, I'm cool.
Starting point is 01:43:14 Yeah, that's a shutcase. Well, voicemails weren't really that great this week, right? Nothing pressing. No. Oh, some bleak ones? All right, maybe on Patreon we'll get into some bleak voicemails while Bleak isn't here.
Starting point is 01:43:27 We could just call them, have them answer. Yep, the bleak interview did well, man. I think people like it. Mm-hmm. That's good. Yeah, bleak is made for pocket. People didn't know Bleak had a personality.
Starting point is 01:43:37 He's hilarious. I like shit like that. I like when people find out like, oh shit. Personality. Yeah. And no rapists get that stigma of, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:43:45 You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? I mean, you know what I'm saying? I mean, you know what? No, Bleak is, he has a lot of personality. He was very, shout out to Bleak. Very sweet.
Starting point is 01:43:55 Very sweet and personable. Yeah. Y'all have some rappers here that were not. Name them. And funny. But he was very sweet. Like, yeah. Like, he gives little brother energy.
Starting point is 01:44:06 O.D. He gives a little brother energy. Little brother? Like, yeah, like, I mean, he's grown, but he gives that he was a little brother in his past life. He gives little brother energy. Like, giggly, silly, like that kind of thing. Yeah. Doesn't take himself too serious.
Starting point is 01:44:21 But I appreciate people like bleak, people like guru that like hang with the Illuminati will literally still treat every single human being that they meet the same way and the kindest way ever. That's because they know they can kill everybody in a room and get away with it. That is true. Not in Idaho. Not in Idaho. In Manhattan. Get away with murder and Manhattan is that's a stat. Murder in Manhattan.
Starting point is 01:44:41 Sounds like a documentary to me. Murder in Manhattan. Starring. Well, this was fun. we will be back a couple times this week. Maybe. Patreon.com forward slash new Rory Mall. There's merch.
