Starting point is 00:01:49 This week, Laverne Cox is back. We're talking about her new book, her controversial X, and going off on the red carpet. 20 minutes later, he was like, let's squash this to talk about it. Like, no, you do not talk to me like that. That is unacceptable. I walked in a sec. We need to break up. And can you ever really change a man?
Starting point is 00:02:07 Listen to Outlaws with T.S. Madison on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. No. Welcome back to a new episode of the new Rory and Moll podcast. I am all. I'm Rory. Rory, today we are joined by. These are some guys that is like, this is family, though. This is New York all the way. A lot of history here.
Starting point is 00:03:03 a lot of personal relationships here. Today we are joined by none other than Duke the Guard, hell, rail, J.R. Rider, and diplomats are in the building. Yeah. Appreciate y'all for having us, man. One of my favorite podcasts, man. Jay, I appreciate that, yeah. I was just telling J.I.
Starting point is 00:03:20 I was like, I remember J.R. was outside young and 16. Yeah. Got some cheese, oh, you know. Yeah, niggas don't know you been outside for a long time, Jail. Yeah, you know. You've really been like, you was one. the first, I mean, it was a lot of young dudes that was rapping in Harlem, but I remember you being the first one that everybody kind of felt was different.
Starting point is 00:03:41 I appreciate that. It was like, yo, J.R. Rider. And then the name was like J.R. Rider. Like, oh, J. R. Riter. J. Riter. I like to playoff words. But I remember you being a young, young cat running around. And everybody was like, you know, this little young dude, his style is very unique. So it's good to have y'all here. Rell, that's the Bronx.
Starting point is 00:03:59 You know that. That's the big Bronx right there. Duke is a dog. But, G-O-D. So let's start. What have y'all collectively been up to and individually? What have y'all been up to? You know, we got the album coming out, August 28th, double-t treble, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:04:14 Featuring Duke to God Presents featuring J-R-R-R-R-R-Roe. You know what I mean? You know, I always been working with them when we was a tight-nitched unit, you know what I mean? And, you know, I feel like, you know what I mean, like, we never fell off or nothing. It just got confused. You know what I mean? What was the confusion? I'm saying, you know, just.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Like, when we hear to talk today. Yeah, that's so good. Yeah, that's all good. I want to know where y'all stand with Max. I heard, I heard, listen, I'm listening to everything. I heard what Max had to say about Rell and J.R. I want to know where does all of those relationships stand. We had to talk about it.
Starting point is 00:04:52 No, like, I guess with, I'm saying with any type of group or anything, you know, you go through certain things. things, but we ain't got no problems with Max. Shout out to Max and all that. And shout out to everybody. You know what I mean? The whole set, like the whole original dip set. You know what I mean? And it's no problems with that.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Just that everybody just started moving differently. You know what I mean? And we just was like, you know, let's give the people what they want, that feeling that that brought people through high school, that bought people through their jobs and shit. You know what I'm saying? Like, and I just feel like we never fell off. We just kind of got mixed, got lost in the shuffle. Kind of pivot and figure out with it, which I wanted to do.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Yeah, but we all still had our solo thing going on. Yeah. You know what I mean? We just did what we did, but we just ain't never clicked back up how we was doing with diplomatic community, one and two, and the group albums and shit like that. But, you know, it's a bunch of personalities. Yeah. You're dealing with, it's hard. It'd be hard.
Starting point is 00:05:49 It'd be hard. Yeah, that should be crazy. It's to agree on just one thing. So it's a bunch of us. Because you guys announced double trouble, I think, in, like, January, February. Yeah, we was in a bidding war. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We were trying to figure out of the home for it. You know what, gotcha. But the initial breakup is what kind of like messed everything up. I mean, to be real. I mean, just to be perfectly honest.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Because the initial breakup, only we knew what was going on behind the scenes. What was it? What caused the initial dips to kind of like split? I mean, you know, do you know the conflict between Jim and Cam? You know, this is two bosses, two CEOs of the label, two Titans going at it. It was like, it was a tough. a walk who's over here who going over here and it just kind of fucked everything up
Starting point is 00:06:34 you know what I'm saying? Did that, did that derive anything from the 50s situation or was it already brewing and that was kind of just like what? Already brewing. Yeah, yeah, it was brewing. It was probably brewing like this.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Already brewing. As a fan, we were. Brewing before I came up from jail and I came on my old four. Damn. Yeah, brewing. Brewing, brewing. Yeah, because seeing Jim on stage with him.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Those things played partly played a part. And you think that was maybe with Jim trying to form like the bird gang shit? No, I think, I think, because Cam gave it, Cam gave it his blessings to do that. You know, I mean, I just, I just, I get, it's so many, it's so many things that, that, that, that happened. But I can't point just one thing, but the 50 cent and that, and, and, and, and that kind of made it, you know what I'm saying? Like, you know, it brought everything to the surface so everybody can see, like, and they can pick and choose, like, oh, he's loyal, oh, he's not loyal, you know, I mean, it gave people that type of, I mean. Yeah. Did you have any guidance for them? Because you had somewhat been affiliated with the Rockefeller
Starting point is 00:07:34 situation to the Rockefeller breakup was right before that entire thing. That happened or kind of overlapping to some degree. No, like I had nothing to do. As you were around around. Oh yeah, I was around Ola. We was actually, cop up. I got nothing to do with it. Yeah. I'm really, I'm really, I'm really not though. Like I like to be sad. Aaron just throughout a whole Dear Dame freestyle and you're the focal point. I always want to be solid. Shout to care,
Starting point is 00:08:01 but I always want to be solid and shit like that, especially when I'm doing interviews. I mean, I'm fucking with you. But yeah, that shit, that shit been, it's just so much that with the Rockefeller shit, like, you know what I mean? You know what I mean? So, you know, with him beefing with Jay and Jay,
Starting point is 00:08:17 you know what I mean, it was a lot of shit. Like if it was weird times. If you pull back that whole rug, pull up the rug and just like, it would always just, controversy within our set, within Rockefeller, you know what I mean? But in a good way, though, you know what I mean? Like, you know, I mean? Like, you know, I mean, like, you know,
Starting point is 00:08:31 everybody loves the villains. You know what I'm saying? Like, we love, we love the villains, you know? To J.R.'s point, it's hard when you have so many different, you know, personalities and people to kind of get on the same page. Like, it's not easy to do that. Then you put money on the table. Especially some Harlem, liggers. Especially some Harlem. You got Harlem, Brooklyn, Philly. Yeah, it's a lot of egos. Then you put money on the mix.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Things are going to, me and Rory settled time. You want to know who you friends are, put money on the table and just sit back. That's what you're going to find out what your man think about you, how he feels about you, what he think you worth. All kinds of shit going to come out. So, you know, I understand how things can go a different way, but this has been for
Starting point is 00:09:09 years, though. It seems like it's always been like, yo, what's up? Do they fuck with this? Do he fuck with him? Do he fuck with him? And then, like I said, now, Max, him in the French record, where he said, you know, I could fuck around a resurrected dips minus the hell, the rails, and minus the writers. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:09:25 What just happened? Like I didn't even know that there was even some type of I don't know if it's tension or feelings like what was where did that come from? I think like you know podcast probably played a part in that because we was doing
Starting point is 00:09:39 a whole promo run we had their like 18 interviews so maybe things got misconstrued when questions were asked and maybe he I don't know and some of that shit is just Max being Max I was literally listening to the album myself but I mean the interviews I've seen I mean I hear that I'm just like
Starting point is 00:09:55 puzzled, you know, but yeah, everything got cleared up, you know, shouts to him. Y'all spoke to Max. Have you guys? I spoke to Max. Yeah, spoke to the top line. We spoke, you know, it was, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:05 it wasn't a misunderstanding. It wasn't meant to be taken as a dis. Yeah. Yeah, the way he explained it was. He kind of seemed like he was on some like, sort of peaceful shit. Yeah, like, I'm just happy to be home. Let's get back to it.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Like, so when I heard that, I was like, okay, something must have happened. They must have bumped to each other uptown somewhere. He shouted us out on the dance and project. He went on breakfast club had cleared it up. Okay. He just was rapping and he really,
Starting point is 00:10:28 he really meant it like, you know, to resurrect or whatever. Shouts to friends. He just seen Max like two weeks ago, right? Like, a month ago or something like that? What?
Starting point is 00:10:36 You just seen Max like a month ago, right? Um, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was all love. I was supposed to pull up on them. So, you know.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Yeah, yeah. Okay, so everything's good. Yeah, it's all love. And it'll be dope. He'll be dope. You know, for sure. I just think that,
Starting point is 00:10:50 I think, and we could talk about this too. Like, I just think that, you know, New York. as a whole, as a collective, musically, has kind of taken a backseat over the years. I believe that. It's like a lot of other different cities and states, which is dope. It's always, to me, dope when the torch of hip hop is passed and kind of makes its way through different parts of the country and parts of the world.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Like, I don't, that's not a knock. But to me, New York for a very long time, lost his identity, lost its originality. It's confused. It's, you know, just uniqueness that we, I think that we always held to a high regard when it came to hip hop. I blame that shit on New York radio, though, though. We're about to have a scene now. We about to go into another conversation. I'm just being real.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Because I attribute a lot of this to Ebro. That's a bad. We had a graph up here. We had a similar conversation. He said, why? He had a bunch of niggas rapping like down south niggas trying to present records and all of us out of our element. Yeah. You understand what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:11:54 Like, you know, joke? and I don't attribute a lot of shit. I know you don't actually blame Ebro, for sure. Hey, bro, man, I'm not here to defend Ebro. I just think we, as New Yorkers, need to take some accountability of the music we were making
Starting point is 00:12:05 was intentionally not very radio friendly. Like, when we got in a full, like, mixtape mode, which is some of my favorite New York music, that she was not going to play on a radio trying to sell it's advertising. That's fair. Like, Ebro could be from the Bronx, and that's not going to change
Starting point is 00:12:19 they're trying to sell a fucking ad in between songs. Right. Like, the South took over, made commercial music. They figured out, GZ figured out how to do the mixstap shit and also make album music that plays. Some of the backstage shit was going to play it on the radio though.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Yeah. Oh no, for sure. But just that certain hours and mix show, like, it never could get in rotation. You wasn't going to get mixed shows, were we? Now, that's an argument that you can make for sure. What was going on out here? I'm just saying, it became a time where it felt like New York radio did not fuck with New York artists.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Well, like, the more than music. That's all I'm saying. Fact. I remember hearing some of the more of the music. like, shit on radio, no? Who? Like, back in the building, didn't play on a mix show? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but...
Starting point is 00:13:00 Yeah, we had singles on this show. As far as, like, I want to do a single or 50% in the record, it was turmoil. It just depends on who you pushing the record through. Do you think that also has to do with maybe signing to an artist that's already in their peak? And it's not a shot at Cam Jim or anything, but there's a line when you're pitching music.
Starting point is 00:13:15 It can put us in the forefront. Like, as far as me and around... We made the splash show, and you already be accepted by the DJs. It's not like we have to go through the rigamot. Yeah. R-R-RPy to DJ K Slay, he actually kept that one over. Hey, Slay, R-I-Slay. He kept that one.
Starting point is 00:13:30 I really, I really wish people would really, you know, do their homework and knowledge on K. Slay. People don't know exactly how hip-hop Kay Slay really is what. Yeah, he did that shit with his heart. I ain't going to front. Like, he'd be in the trenches with the music and all that. Case-Lay was the epitome of hip-hop. Yeah, he was. Like, he was a graffiti baby.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Like, he comes from, you know what I mean, that? Like, and then to where he'd be. took it like no people just know Kay Slate just from the radio right yeah I know him from the mix tapes like right yeah
Starting point is 00:14:01 those joints inspired me and challenging radio too him going at Clue yeah yeah Clue is still obviously hip-hop but he had become like the upper echelon you can't get to Clue type of person
Starting point is 00:14:11 and Slay became the guy like I will fuck you no totally went against the grain not Slay man yeah absolutely absolutely dude obviously you have an incredible ear
Starting point is 00:14:23 credited for I don't know Do you credit yourself a final A-track? To some degree. No, I don't credit myself. Why you think that? Because they came around the same time. I mean, I know A-track had won the DJ contest and that. But like, not all of us were paying attention to what a Canadian DJ was doing in a DJ.
Starting point is 00:14:40 I'm a copy. Like A-Rab music that came up. Yeah, yeah. Like A-track. We kind of came up doing like the EDM shit, like around the same time. But, you know, I mean? Yeah. Like, he kind of like brought like to what A-track was doing.
Starting point is 00:14:54 because A-Track is the illest DJ. He's the Ellis. He's the best. He's the best. He's the best. You know what are the best? You know what I mean? And that ever, and I've missed the old EDM type of days when there was like a lot of, I'm
Starting point is 00:15:06 pretty sure it's still going on, but it's not as, as, as, as, as, as, as, as, as, as, is, as, as, as, as, as, as, it was before, you know, I mean? And I think, I think A-Rap kind of shined delight with a lot of performances, you know, I mean, with the NPC, and then him doing a lot, the, the, um, the DJ thing, you know, I mean, so I don't credit that, though. Okay. And he's super dope. That's a good, that's a good thing.
Starting point is 00:15:24 But, I mean, with the A-Track and Cam tape that we eventually got 15 years later. Yeah. What they've been talking about? They had put out records like 15 years ago that they were putting out the, the dip shit. Dip shit was the name of the single, I want to say, with Cam and Jewels. And then they just disappeared. And then it came out like last year or something. Yeah, it came out.
Starting point is 00:15:45 But, yeah, like, A-Rab is he involved with the project now? What producers is on this album? Shout out the cartoon. Yeah, cartoons. Yeah, cartoons is in the building, you know what I'm saying? He definitely did,
Starting point is 00:15:57 you know what I mean, a bunch of joints. Yeah, we got a few producers on there. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of uppercutum producers. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Yeah. Will you ever work with Digger? You know, that would be dope too, though. You know, Digger is also a forefather. And I'd be so mad at the time when I would shout Digger out,
Starting point is 00:16:13 like, and I'd be like, and I shout that you're in the corn. And I'm like, I go home and I watch this shit. I'd be like, why, Digger is the,
Starting point is 00:16:19 the nucleus. Because he was making all the sounds and recording with ADATs and shit like that before they were even pro tools and all that. You know what I'm saying? So shout out of Digger. But I would love to do something with Digger. He's super talented. He's on a market too, I'm not something. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:16:33 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And he did a lot of dope-ass records. Like, he was around forever. Like, I'm pretty sure. Many men, Deghan. Yeah, I was just wondering, like, you know, where that relationship. You got to put that together. We got to put that together.
Starting point is 00:16:45 I got to put that together. I think that would be five. I'm just thinking of way, you know, man. Connect the Duggan. You got to do something. He's a legend. Absolutely. And I'm, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:16:53 Heat Megas. Yeah, shout out to Austin. Shout out to Ausonis. Yeah. Shows us, but we actually are. We had chops it up with him, but you know, Austinus is a type, like, you know what I mean? You get in the studio with them and go through some records, but I live in DR.
Starting point is 00:17:08 You know what I mean? Rell and PA. Okay. And Duke and Harlem. So, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:13 But we just didn't really, we just didn't really, again, it's like you said, connect in the studio, like, you know, I mean, we're all our stuff. Yeah. So where's everything at now when it comes to personal relationships with Cam and Jim? Is there anything that y'all haven't resolved? Is it still like up in the air? I see you and I see you talk to you when I see you type of thing. Have any reach, y'all reached out?
Starting point is 00:17:37 Has it been anybody on that side reaching out? Like, where those personal relationships at when it comes like just away from the music? Because y'all spend so much time around each other on a person. I'm an answer for myself. I got a relationship with Jim, personal relationship. Okay. And a business relationship with Jim. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:55 I don't have that same relationship with Kim. But it's all love. Like, he brought me in the game. It's always be loved. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. So, you know, but that's the coverage of that. Outside of that, it wasn't no reaching out.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Like, you've never reached out the game. No, I've been in my own pocket. I've been going through my own shit on my own time. More like, I lost my mother, father, and grandmother all in one year. So, like, once that happened, I was like, Yeah, that everything is a bit. Yeah, like everything. I'm like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:22 I'm just on my own time. And it was no disrespect. I was just in my own world. Right, right. I got a relationship with everybody. I mean, I try to keep a relationship with you. I ain't speak to Cam in a little minute, you know what I mean. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:18:34 We've been ripping and running and he's doing what he's doing. But I fuck with everybody. I don't pick sides. I don't switch sides. I just do with me. You know what I mean? Try to, I would love to see all of us together. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:45 I love dipset. You know what I'm saying? And so that's my attitude towards it. But yeah, you know, I would like to think I got a good relationship with anybody. And what about else? Is it still? I just spoke to you else yesterday. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:56 All right. It's so a lot of niggas, you know what I'm saying? Like, we got to tattoo and it's like having a last thing. Yeah. No, I get it. I got to ask because it's been so many times where I've heard things and seen interviews. And I'm just like, yo, where is the relationship with anybody? Like, because Harlem and the Bronx is way too small for niggas not to be cool with each other.
Starting point is 00:19:16 And it's like, I'm going to see. Mutual friends that we all see them. Yeah, family. Like, yeah, like, I might see somebody that's around Cam and, you know what I'm my son might be going to school with your son now. And it's like, it's that now. Like, niggins is at that age where our kids might bump into each other. Like, you know, it's like, so I'm thinking like as far as personally with the dips
Starting point is 00:19:34 because, again, you can't speak Harlem in the Bronx without thinking diplomat. Correct. So to know that there is some type of, you know, still relationship with y'all. Yeah. Like that's like... Even with this show, SOBs on the 27th, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:19:49 We're trying to bring everybody. Yeah. Yeah. It don't matter. Even the people that was just doing mixtape cuts that you might have not heard from in a minute,
Starting point is 00:19:58 you know what I mean? Shit like that. We're just sticking to the script, more. We're sticking to the script. Like, no beefing with nobody. Just putting out good music. I like that.
Starting point is 00:20:06 We got out good music and sticking to the script. We own our music. I like that. So it's a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. We love Kim.
Starting point is 00:20:14 We love Jim. We love our business. all that, you know what I'm saying? So it's like, I heard I be sometimes like I got to be hurt, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, because Duke been around for 30, 40 years. Yeah, it has to, it hurt to see the Dame and Cam situation. And I love some gossip. And I love Dame too. I love Dame. Like these is people that, like, for me, it's real hard for me because I'd be like,
Starting point is 00:20:35 and I can't be, I can't just, I can't just, you know, if you got a bunch of uncles, you got to love all your uncles, you know what I'm saying? You don't want to be like, you know what I'm saying? They're all older to be. You know what I'm saying? Each one of us is what it would be. But it hurts, you know what I mean? But I love all of them. And, you know, being Camis family.
Starting point is 00:20:50 So it's like, it's a little, it's different when I just watch this and I just don't be kind of like. You got to try to play the mediator. Yeah. And I don't, I don't feed into when they do negative towards each other. You know what I'm saying? I step out of that. When they're doing something positive, I fuck with it.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Yeah. But not towards hurting each other, you know, socially or whatever. You know, I mean, so I just stay out of all that. Yeah. I think, I mean, I, and understanding them too in their relationship over the years, you know, they go back and forth from the time. But it did reach a point like the last year and a half or so where I felt like, okay, things might be going a little. Gloves as long.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Yeah. It's like they talk shit. They've done that forever. Like go at each other talk shit. That's what Dame do. That's what Cam do. But the last two years definitely felt like, oh no, this is past just like brothers going back and forth talking to shit. Now it feels like it's a little more personal.
Starting point is 00:21:42 But even for me, I tell myself, like, even for me, I tell myself, like, even. even just watching history, because I'm a big history. I love history. That's my subject, like American, whatever, history, whatever. But I look at how even Cam and Mace was beefing. And we was all beefing with Mace at one time. Like, we had big songs about Mace. And I just feel like eventually they were going to get back together.
Starting point is 00:22:00 And I don't want to be one of the ones that's like, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. And learn history. Like, I watched this go down. This one went down for years. They wasn't talking for years, Cam and Mace. You know what I'm saying? And now they back on track and they love each other and they appreciate each other
Starting point is 00:22:13 and respect each other. And I think it would be the same way with Jim and Cam and Dame and even Jim and Dame. You know what I'm saying? It's like a triangle. They all don't fuck with each other. Like it's like, it's crazy. Man, it's just like, yo,
Starting point is 00:22:27 because you hear things and you say things during those moments where it's like, damn, I know one day, hopefully things are going to get, but it's just like, you can't unhear what the nigger said about you in the moment. Like, yo, you said some crazy shit about me. But moving past that part of it, Where is everything now as far as, like, making music? Like, is it like, you listen, we head down.
Starting point is 00:22:49 We learned a lot from the industry over the years. We learned our mistakes. We need to take more, you know, control over what we do and how we perform. And that's how we're moving forward from now on. That's where the mindset is. Like, let's take our control over our own shit. Yeah, that's pretty much the mindset we're being with me and JR as of currently
Starting point is 00:23:07 because we're just acquiring more projects that we put out. See, back in, when we was hot, we could put a mixtape out, get some bread for it, and they don't be on DSPs. Once DSPs hit, all those projects became albums now. Right. So we probably did deals that probably wasn't in our favor, but now that we're more smarter, we're acquiring those projects and creating a catalog. So it's just about having a legacy catalog as far as me and G. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:38 You know, yeah, after I came home, I said, you know what? I got to because as an artist I was more dependent on the next deal features or shows but I didn't have no access to portals like
Starting point is 00:23:52 just like connections and the radio spins is gate keep information is gate keep you get what I'm saying and just trying to reach out to labels back then it's the hardest thing you'd be happy
Starting point is 00:24:02 if you knew the receptionist at Atlantic you get what I'm saying right so yeah just you know soaking up all that all that info being around camp, gym,
Starting point is 00:24:12 you know, everybody. Yeah, I started looking into how to get my music back and the deals I was signing and, you know, I just cared about the bread. But just looking back and getting the old contracts and seeing, okay, this was a license, what's the license, and this was this, and, oh, I do own this.
Starting point is 00:24:30 You know what I mean? That's what we've been on. And, you know, now I own, and he does, I think, the same amount, like 1,100 songs. You get what I'm saying? So, yeah, and just doing it. that it's like owning property yeah because you could take three four songs sell it for
Starting point is 00:24:45 a hundred thousand or take a two albums and do a licensing deal get it all back you know what I'm saying so yeah you know and run everything out of D.R. yeah yeah I got the studio yeah protect that's all I've been thinking about man no mall I don't same page you know the same page absolutely mall Boost Mobile is proven that you do not have to overpay for great wireless please unlock savings with $25 a month for ever unlimited plan. Starting point is 00:26:21 Our show is extremely accessible to first time listeners. Each week, we talk to someone in show business, aka the biz, and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us. Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicists
Starting point is 00:26:34 for letting them do our show. We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman. Not that great. Actually, can you help me pay? Can you help me shape this? How about we flip it on his head? How about we flip this script? What is the surprise woman?
Starting point is 00:26:49 Actually, you think is the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird. Adam Scott, this entire time you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show. I would never expect. Let go of that. I have. I would never set expectations for something like that to happen. It seems like you did. The universe allows for something like that to happen.
Starting point is 00:27:12 I'm open to it. I'm always going to accept. You know, Danny McBride, fine. Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity exuding. I could smell it walking down the hallway, to be honest with you. I was like, is that weed? Nope, it's fragile masculinity. Ben Stiller, no.
Starting point is 00:27:31 Because a lot of times out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is. You know what I mean? They're like, oh, what's a state. Everyone's so. And fake. Right, fake and also not interested or just like, oh, I've got my life. I don't care about your life. And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us.
Starting point is 00:27:51 Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally he loves the show and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy. Starting point is 00:30:07 You feel like, I feel like when you came out, punchline rap was at like its peak for sure. And it was in the music as well. Then I feel like it shifted out of the music and went right into battle rap URL. Where do you think punchline rap is at now? Where are those fans at? Like heavy punchline rap? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:28 Is that even still a thing? Yeah. It is. Definitely came back around. Yeah, it's a thing. It's a thing. It's a thing with, you know, like the Griselda and it's a thing. But I feel like artists like even Drake does punchline.
Starting point is 00:30:44 It's just dressed up nice and it looks. different, you know what I'm saying? But yeah, I think it's more so like heavy punchline rap is obsolete. It's not that much rap is doing it. But I still feel like punchlines still living in music. You get what I'm saying? It's just structured different to, you know what I mean? Like a fab.
Starting point is 00:31:05 Fab would do a mixtape and it's punchline heavy. But then he'll do a song with Maya and it'll be like one or he'll sneak two or three punchlines in there. Yeah. You get what I'm saying? So I feel like it's just more so like that. And that's one thing I've been wanting to try to like, you know, just elevate my sound and modernize my sound.
Starting point is 00:31:26 So it's not super punchline heavy and it's a different modern sound. You get what I'm saying? So on this project, you felt like you pulled back a little bit on? On this project, no, we dipped into like a nostalgic bag. Gotcha. It was just like the dip sound. And, you know, we incorporated a few records that was up to date with the sound. but it was more so the nostalgic
Starting point is 00:31:46 because not too many people are doing it. You know what I mean? A lot of rappers, a lot of fans appreciate it. Yeah. You get what I'm saying? Yeah. Who would you put, I hate the top five question, but I do want to ask you specifically,
Starting point is 00:31:58 your top five punchline rappers specifically. Of all, it don't matter who. What time? All right. Big Al. Big Al. Fav. Cassidy.
Starting point is 00:32:13 Lloyd Banks. punchline. Yeah. Bigel Cassidy, Lloyd Banks. Um, who else I said? Fab. Bab. And, um,
Starting point is 00:32:33 I like, I, it's tough. I want to say Jada kiss, but he's not really like a heavy. He does have, he is. He's a punchline of heavy.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, so, so, he dresses his punchlines up a little differently. They're not,
Starting point is 00:32:46 yeah. The way you and Banks did, like, I'm setting you up before this punchline. Now, but Drake, you, double back and see five, six layers.
Starting point is 00:32:54 You know what I'm saying? It's just they sleep on. I like the way you see that dress him up. He dress him up in tuxedos in. I tell people all the time. Kiss, kiss to me is, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:04 one of all of our favorite emcees. And Kiss probably never changed his flow. No. Yeah, yeah. I can't remember a time where I heard Kiss changed, like,
Starting point is 00:33:13 change his flow. And I was like, that was different. Like the bounce of speed it up. Yeah. I've never, if I'm wrong, let me know I'm wrong.
Starting point is 00:33:19 No, that's a vibe. Because the punches is always there. No, I know the punches is there. Never went away from the fadeaway. Yeah, yeah. Every time down, pick and roll, you know what I'm going to do. You can't stop.
Starting point is 00:33:29 But he had like a unique, like, it's nobody else. Because it was what it was the punch. It was what he was saying. It was like, oh, shit. With the raspy voice. And the delivery. Yeah, hell yeah. So it was like he didn't have to really change flows.
Starting point is 00:33:40 It was like, you know what I'm coming to do. Yeah. I know what I'm doing. But like an artist like Fab will have to change flows. Because when he first came out, he sounded like Mace, heavy. You get what I'm saying? Yeah. And then after.
Starting point is 00:33:50 In due time, he grew into his own flow. I love what Cam and Mesa had now, obviously, but, you know, growing up in New York in the 90s, man, I can't help but just look back and think, like, we was robbed of some potentially great music. No, we definitely was. Those two? Off the cluel tapes, man. We're not for us. Like, they just don't understand. Like, if Cam and Mace never, like, had an issue and, like, they were cool forever.
Starting point is 00:34:15 The album would have been retarded. Oh, my God. But, I mean, deal with what's tangible. look what Cam ended up doing and then Mace at that point went down to become a pastor like what happened was supposed to happen if they
Starting point is 00:34:28 I listen I wouldn't want to hear no I don't disrespect as an Irish Catholic I don't want to hear the cam and Pastor Mace I don't know I don't need that but I'm saying Cam Peek Mace Peak You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:34:42 Oh my God Ridiculous oh my God They would have probably never been a Jewel or Jim Jones or yeah Like if they were fighting, even that version of Cam, you would have never saw it. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:34:55 Your fuck all that. He think Cam stole your phone. I was just like. Well, I was going to dress up the punchline, but you didn't let me. No, I ain't put no cut on that. He think Camstow your flow. When I was in high school and see,
Starting point is 00:35:10 I can't fuck him all because Marr was around shit that I was not around. He knew things that I didn't know. I was just a fan in high school, pirating your music like everybody else. Just stealing from you guys. We always felt like Cam's flow changed when you came around, and we weren't the only people that thought that.
Starting point is 00:35:25 And then there was a whole rumor that J.R. is the ghost writer. Now, personally, again, not even know anything or talking about. I don't feel like you were ghostwriting anything for Cam. But it was ironic that his flow did shift towards yours when you came around. I feel like we feed off each other energy, because we used to walk around them all battling each other. We'd go on tour. we battle each other and going line for line.
Starting point is 00:35:50 But like similar to young Chris, he went through the similar thing where it was like Jay took his whisper and flow. And maybe they, you know, it was just. I hear you on the Chris and Hove thing. But that was like a very slight, that you had a very unique flow that nobody. Literally no one had. No, but you know, I didn't write for Cam.
Starting point is 00:36:12 I know that. Yeah. Now, I was just like you, I was a big camp. Cam is still in my time. hot fire. So I was heavily influenced by Cam at a young age. Even at 12, I was probably run around saying his verse like his minds because I would do something where it's like, let me see if this dude is a hater. If I spit Cam's shit and I know it's hot and he say is whack, then I'm not going to spit my second shit because I know he a hater. So, you know,
Starting point is 00:36:39 I'll just bring that up to say like, you know, Cam influenced me. So when I came around with that hunger, you know what I mean? Maybe the energy. rubbed off and it sounded, you know, but yeah, I didn't write it. But Cam, definitely write rhymes. He's right. He's still, he can't. I don't think that at all. You know, Kenna sat me,
Starting point is 00:36:56 me and Jewel's down and said, let's see who could write the quickest 16. And he wrote his shit in like 20 minutes. Yeah. Killed us. And that's the rhyme where he killed that. And hash in the sweat socks. Check the sweatpox.
Starting point is 00:37:13 I got it not near the size of an Xbox. Yeah. Yeah. Like, but not. Cam, Cam, Cam is a different animal. And I mean, obviously, no disrespect to kiss, but that is why I give Cam so much credit of the amount of flows that he had.
Starting point is 00:37:26 That's why I don't believe that you wrote. Like, me is it we're playing, for everyone in the studio, Confessions of Fire are people that were too young for that. Cair's flows are completely different than diplomatic immunity. Yeah, yeah, it was different. He's on some horror core rap shit.
Starting point is 00:37:42 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cam has a thousand different flows, and that's why I was full of, like, super duper dope concept. Yeah. No, I were. Eminem kind of took Cam's style. I asked Cam personally.
Starting point is 00:37:53 I see your Ken why you don't rap like and trying to turn a poodle into Uru's and noodles. Why you don't do that? He said, Eminem nigger, man, took my whole shit. I don't even want to do it. No more. He did. Like, if you remember SDE, like that cam.
Starting point is 00:38:06 And then like when M came around, it was kind of like, we remember this style. I call it horror rap. Where you just like rapping some horrible shit? Like, what is he talking about this whole rhyme? And it's like, you can hear the skill set in it, but Cam was the first one that I could remember that was rapping like that. Now Eminem came and made it a whole, you know, now you get MTV. Yeah, like you get that out of it.
Starting point is 00:38:30 You know what I am a different type of beat. It was definitely Cam SDE that interest that to as far as I agree with that. I would want to ask Cam if he would put the Confessions of Fire album cover on the top five no homo. That's a good. That's a good question. Don't try to defend it. The level overall. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:49 That was 5,001 flavors, though. It was a movie loop. Yeah, that was the style back then. Like, I was with no shirt on. But, you know, I mean, that was, you know, the overalls was the style. Let's talk about verses. Now, probably still the most iconic verses with the locks and dipset. Got it down.
Starting point is 00:39:08 Y'all watching that and looking back on it, like, do y'all feel like y'all should have been there? Because it was like... We was there. Y'all was in the building? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:17 fight out, Michael Hunter. Yeah, shout's to Michael Hunter. They had a fight before the U.S. We was there. Trilla, you know, they do the boxing. Yeah. They come to them a few times. And then that's why they performed in the ring. Because it was a boxing
Starting point is 00:39:29 match on HBO before the versus. Okay. So Jim was hitting us to see it, you know what mean, to see if they could put us on a line up for the versus. Okay. But then when the last time I spoke to Jim, I think he was in Miami. They was like, yo, we didn't even get our set list together. So I'm like, oh yeah, it's over. Let's just
Starting point is 00:39:45 take this play and walk this. The fight. out. It was paying us. Okay. Handsomely. So I'm like, yeah, let's walk them out. And they're going to give us ringside seats. Okay. So, yeah, we did that.
Starting point is 00:39:55 We walked them out, you know what I mean? And we sat. But looking back at high sight, it was, it was brutal. Yeah. No, yeah. It was dope, but brutal. It was Jewel's fault. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:40:08 Nah. As soon as Jewel said, y'all ain't got no records for the coffee. Nah. It was over. It went left after that. It went left after that, though. As soon as Jewel said, yeah, ain't got no records for the ladies. I was like, why he said that.
Starting point is 00:40:19 It went in a lady's pocket. And that was after that it went to a whole other. It was like, oh, and they got these records, too? The records that we forgot about, like, you know what I mean? Like, I'm like, damn. I got it with Kiss the next day on this block. You're like, you should have been there, baby. Come on.
Starting point is 00:40:33 You should have been on that stage. Yeah, yeah. But, um, nah, that was an epic night. It was, no. I think still to this day. I don't think it was Jewel's fault, but it was dope. No, it wasn't. I mean, I think the dips, I said it before.
Starting point is 00:40:46 It was the setless fault. Well, yeah. I said it before the diversions happened that. I was like, because being from TV and all that had to happen. And I said, I said people don't remember the locks. Like they had deals with Rough Riders.
Starting point is 00:41:00 Deal with Bad Boy. If you had deals with those two labels, you were really good at what you would know. And I got hit records. And you got hit records. So a lot of people kind of, you know, it was easier, you know, you think about the dips.
Starting point is 00:41:14 It's like, oh, yeah, nah, they're going. Because people were saying, going to smoke the locks. And I was looking at people like, I don't think y'all know the locks well enough to just say they're going to get smoked. I thought it was going to smoke them. But our song selection kind of played a part as well. I think it did. I think some certain songs could have been scrapped. You know what I think that too, though. I thought the main thing was Kiss kind of exposed and pulled the rug up under us, like when he would say, like we had the words playing on the beat. The two track, yeah. And I think that kind of exposed
Starting point is 00:41:43 it. The performance, yeah, definitely. Yeah. So it's like, then now you listen to the music, even. harder like then why they got the words playing and they rap into their instrumentals. And the iconic Chris Diles that we all grew up on. They come from that big and bad boy club. Y'all have so many of those that they left out. You never did not.
Starting point is 00:41:57 Like we do nothing like. We honestly felt like what's wrong? What's wrong with that? But then when I sat back and looked at it like, no, this is the real thing right here. Yeah. It's different. In 2000s, I promise you, a lot of rappers was doing shows two track. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 00:42:15 Definitely. I mean, if you're doing concerts, you're doing TV. TV track. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. And to like get even more nerdy in the audio shit, a lot of stuff diffset in that era was not mixed with the amount of money that bad boy and Rough Riders had at that time. And that's the first. And that's the first. The dope records makes it iconic. But when you're doing a live stream, and this is during the COVID era where the live stream audio was not as good as it is now. Correct. So there's some of those locks mixes on those beats came in crystal clear where I couldn't hear a motherfucker. word Jim was saying. Like, it just hits a little different when you even get into the science of that, but still iconic. I mean, iconic,
Starting point is 00:42:55 legendary night, iconic night. Let's fast forward a little bit to like current shit. How do y'all feel about the whole, you know, New York City versus New York State? Like, especially between 38 Spash and Kisla. I think that's always now, obviously what Griselda has been able to do over the last, however many years. there's always been to talk like, yo, but that ain't New York, though.
Starting point is 00:43:21 And it's like, yo, but they literally are from New York. Not New York City, correct. So that conversation has been a thing. Yes. Now you fast forward to 38 spash, you know. But that been going on too, though, right? Absolutely. I'm pretty sure kids had to go through Yonkers ain't the borough.
Starting point is 00:43:37 Which I think is stupid. The Bronx and Yonkers is. Yeah, it's right there. Yeah, weren't they on two-fifth, like most of their career? Like didn't Harlem kind of They transcended that The only The only person I've never seen probably
Starting point is 00:43:53 In Harlem is chic I don't think I've ever seen Sheik in Harlem I'm sure he has been Yeah stiles got a fucking Juice bar He got a juice bar
Starting point is 00:44:03 He got strains for life now Right on her 45th Like you could see You could catch D You might catch D standing on the block Sitting on the block You do his podcast on the block On the block, right?
Starting point is 00:44:15 Like, so the locks has always been New York City. Like, we not, I don't know how, I don't look at the lock. Why that was ever a conversation. But 38 special is from. Rockchester's. Outside of the city, the five borough. Right. So now him and, excuse me, him and, him and, uh, him and, uh, Kis have had their
Starting point is 00:44:33 little back and forth and his specials here. And he was like, it all started from, you know, kids said he was going to do a verse for him. As rap as y'all know how that shit go. You see it somebody. Yeah, yeah. You might fuck with him like, yo, send me something. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:44 It took me like 10 years to get my kid's verse. See what I'm saying? So it's like, but the thing that made that interesting is the clip when Kiss and Fab were at High 97 started to go viral again. And Kiss said, if I take too long to sing your verse back, it's because I don't like you. Oh, shit. I didn't see that. Kids said that. And I knew that.
Starting point is 00:45:03 I had that in the back of my mind, but I didn't know him in 38's relationship. But 38 said, like, yo, he told me send him something. He's like, you can't tell me that because I might actually send you something. So it was kind of like, you know, it was started off as just like, yo, you ducking me? Like that type of thing. Right. Once the internet get a hold of it, fan bases get a hold of it.
Starting point is 00:45:22 Now dudes from each respective city start talking. Now the energy starts to take on something a little more. Right. Like different. Like it feels like there's a thing now. Yeah, yeah. Now as rappers, do y'all feel like there's always been like a little tension? If you wasn't from the five boroughs, we kind of looked at you a little differently.
Starting point is 00:45:41 When they came to rap. Hip-hop. Worldwide, though. It don't matter where you from. Yeah, we looked at anybody outside New York different. Unless you had that shit. You know what I'm saying? But if you're from New York,
Starting point is 00:45:52 if you're from Rochester, Sarah, and you say, I'm from upstate. You know, that's a regular dude could say that. Niggas gonna be like, you're not from New York, my nigga. Nah, but being in a city, nigga, we always had ties with niggas that, the Long Island. Always. Rochester niggers, Buffalo niggers,
Starting point is 00:46:05 always ties. And, you know, we ain't look at it like that. But what this thing did. it kind of exposed a little upstate hate for New York City. And that, I was like, where that came from? I was kind of took in the back by that. You said exposed to hate meaning, like, things you hear in certain rappers from outside the five bro's saying?
Starting point is 00:46:28 Yeah, and the energy was kind of like, we're like y'all city-nickers anyway type. Like, you've been, y'all been waiting to say that. Yeah, we were waiting to, like, challenge y'all. All right, well, let me be a, you think that derived from them feeling like they were kind of ostracized and not looking seriously because they weren't from... But when they came, we rolled the red carpet out for them. They ain't get no backlash.
Starting point is 00:46:48 When Roselda came and put them from New York, we embraced it. They wouldn't and went that far if we didn't embrace it. But my thing is it wouldn't and went that far if we didn't embrace it. Yeah. I feel what I'm saying? They definitely, like, did they... Like, they definitely did their thing on their own. Not saying New York City put them on, you don't ever get that misconstrued.
Starting point is 00:47:06 Yeah. But when they came with that grimy shit, it was just a... a reassurance of what we've been doing. Yeah. And then the world started paying attention to it. So we honored them for that. But like I said, the energy kind of felt like, we don't, we, we, we really like y'all, but.
Starting point is 00:47:25 Yeah, we dealt with y'all. Right. We put up with y'all. We've been waiting to say, we've been waiting to get this off. That's the energy. But it was only result that came out, really, like, I'm just saying, and it'd be, before. I mean, 38, that whole unit, it was only them really, like,
Starting point is 00:47:39 from upstate, really, right? Yeah, I mean the beginning But it was only them They're not playing no part in this They ain't not getting in none of this You don't see Conway or Benny feeding into none of this Yeah, nah So it's like
Starting point is 00:47:51 And we fuck with them hard I can't think it's You know They're probably like 15 years removed from that feeling I'm sure they felt it in the beginning When you become a hip hop artist And you travel and you're around niggas and building these relationships
Starting point is 00:48:05 That's not there A lot of that is coming from 38 not really being around rappers. He said, we might do versus with rappers. I don't think he really conversed with a lot of rappers over the years that he's been in the game. You know what I'm saying? You might see a Benny Hanger with meth.
Starting point is 00:48:22 You might see a, you know what I'm saying? And 38's thing is like industry first independent, correct? Yeah. So I don't know. I think it was genius for him to do that, though, because a lot of people never heard of him. Now they got the chance to hear from him and look them up, Google them and all that.
Starting point is 00:48:37 And it was good for Kiss too Because Kiss Can't just get comfortable Now he always got to stay sharp And picking shoes You know what I'm saying Who he want to work with Or you know what I'm trying to say
Starting point is 00:48:46 So I think Your personal opinion I'm gonna cut you up there Did you feel Kiss was supposed To entertain it? Lyrically? Intertain it? Lyrically?
Starting point is 00:48:52 No. Okay Because he said that him and Kiss spoke And kiss said Yo, Send me the joint And then like
Starting point is 00:48:59 Send me like you See after the Disses The summer jams The I didn't feel The summer jam shit Was at Kiss at all Jim got a lot of that.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Jim got a lot of that. It was a lot of energy for Jim because you know, Jim had jumped in it and said something and then basically said his man was going to get at Spesh. Right. Then Jim's man said something crazy about Spess's brother that passed. So it started to go a whole different way.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Right. But yeah, I didn't think that because it really took off once Kiss said, is this about a verse? It's about a career on a song with Fat Joe and Stovegard. Right. And then NASSwin 38
Starting point is 00:49:36 The Big Daddy Kane joint too came before that, right? I think so. Yeah. But that was the one when Kiss said that, yeah. That's when Spess was like, okay, like, and I felt the energy shifted. It was like, okay, so now I can rap too.
Starting point is 00:49:49 But he only gave Kiss. He didn't really go at Kiss. He gave him a few bars. But it was like because Kiss didn't really go at you. He said what he said. And I don't even think that was a diss to 38. Because he just asked the question. Like, is this about a first?
Starting point is 00:50:01 I'm not going to lie. This is about a career. Kiss one line from. kiss. You got a lock and load, man. Let the whole
Starting point is 00:50:09 fucking clip go. You crazy. I don't know if I feel that. 24 hours. I don't know I don't know how I feel that way.
Starting point is 00:50:15 Listen, me. Yeah. Kim calls, like, bro, 24 hours. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:21 One line from kiss. Yeah. Don't act like, come on. This is Jada kiss. Yeah. It don't matter where you go in the world.
Starting point is 00:50:28 He's top five. One line is enough. One line from Jay-Z. Yeah. Enough. Nas. Like, what? Who the fuck you think you are?
Starting point is 00:50:39 But depending on the line. Because I think if, because Kiss just posed a question, like, is this about a versus? And I'm not saying 38. I'm in general. I mean, just, just in general. Yeah. But that's why I didn't really, I wasn't really mad when 38 didn't all the way jump out
Starting point is 00:50:53 there at Kiss because it was kind of like, he just posed one bar. Like, is this about a versus? It's about a game. He didn't give him no more energy after that. Wow. So for you to then unload a clip, it's like, like, oh, you've been waiting for this opportunity. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:51:07 You was waiting for this. Honestly, I looked at it like, Kiss is baiting him and he wants to play. So it's like, I'm going to throw, why would kids do a whole disc record? Why would? I'm on a whole different side of that.
Starting point is 00:51:20 I'm on a whole different side of that. But 38 did like five interviews about it, including sitting on this couch. Cool. I didn't think anything 38 said was wrong. But the moment he does entertain it with just one line, all right.
Starting point is 00:51:33 Yeah, but then it back. Because the means weirder if you do five podcasts and then you get a line and don't. Honestly, a real back and forth between just dumb two. Because I felt like it should have just been dumb two. A real back and forth with dumb two would do more for his career than a Jada kiss feature. Agreed. Oh, yeah. And I'm talking about a friendly one.
Starting point is 00:51:51 Yeah. And also respect to third. He doesn't really need a rap battle. He's doing fine career-wise. Yeah, if you already have that conversation. Yeah. Yeah, the gym shit, that went left. I don't even know how that even got it to where that turned into.
Starting point is 00:52:03 I feel like if you're, which is fine. Going to a podcast and talk about kiss, you feel away. I think that's completely fine. Yeah, that's cool. And then give you a line. So let's right now. Yeah, that's right. But then it also can backfire when if you unload a whole clip.
Starting point is 00:52:20 And so do the Summer Jam thing. And then I don't even respond to you. No. That's when it's like you look. To me, that was the smarter play that he did because Jim had already, you know, sent his man to wrap. I don't know. I understand that.
Starting point is 00:52:34 You look fine doing the summer jam thing because so much had been said before. I'm saying if all of that energy was directed toward kids. No, that would look crazy. That's when they were to look crazy for. You think so? Yeah. And kiss don't respond? Honestly, everyone that was waiting on a response was waiting to hear what.
Starting point is 00:52:48 Okay. Now, you're right. No, but myself included. With the summer jams, I was like, wait, I don't, all right. Respelle, I don't care about Jim and 38. I just don't. Part of the battle is it has to be a back and forth. It has to, yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:02 It is. Yeah. starts with one line. They don't start, never starts with a whole verse. No, I understand that. But if kiss don't respond, that says a lot. If kids don't respond, maybe it wasn't good enough. Two, I didn't think that was good enough. But him coming at him in the, from the jump is he could have said, man, I'm doing big ass podcast. I'm getting money. I'm doing this. And played the, I mean, the- I couldn't have did that. That's nasty. You can't do that.
Starting point is 00:53:26 He could have took the high road and said, I'm going to respond. I'm not led you. I'm signed and sealed. I don't even got to come outside and rap. But he came outside. He said, Oh, they want me to pull them out. What would he say? My samurai. I got a, I got to fall with somebody. You get what I mean? But once I've seen that, I'm like, oh, it's lit.
Starting point is 00:53:43 Yeah. You know, one line is enough, my nigga. I'm going to be real with you. That's what starts shit up. Also, let me ask you, because Kiss is solidified. 50 was undefeated until he ran into Kiss and styles. No matter how you look at that battle, they did not stop. Like, Kiss is solidified in the battle.
Starting point is 00:54:02 world as well. If I'm at this point in my life and it's clear that I want to make music or my time when I want to make music, I'm doing something else. Do I have to entertain everybody that's saying a word about me? No. I look at, I prove you that I do this over here. Like I've done it. Yeah. Like this, the whole beef started off of, uh, it ain't no big three, it's just big me, right? Yeah, that was. Yeah, I mean, but there was a bunch of lines for years prior to it. Yeah. Throughout the whole years. But that's what sparked for Drake to do all. whole disc record. He gave me one. I'm going to give him one.
Starting point is 00:54:37 We'll be here all day. 1-1-2-2. 1-1. I mean, that was, in my opinion, the Jay Anas shit before really came into fruition. Most people would say etched your name out on volume 2 was Anas. That's your name out.
Starting point is 00:54:51 On Volume 2. No. Mall, you know me and Demaris, we were outside. We were in the arena. We were at the top floor. My beard hit all the elements this weekend. Yeah. Every element.
Starting point is 00:55:04 Lights hitting you. Inside, outside. It was still shimmering with the Basque and Lather beard oil. No matter where we were, it still held. It rained. It was sunny. Held up. Fog came in.
Starting point is 00:55:17 It still was looking amazing. And that's because of basque and lather. Natural beer growth, oil, and fuller, thicker facial hair. It's a blend of vital nutrients to help nourish and increase blood circulation to your hair and promotes the softening of your beard hair and dandruff reduction. more I had on all black. Damaris, am I wrong? No flakes. I walked out in the all black, not a flake on my shoulder, nowhere to be seen. Yeah, because that's nasty. But I also love this because this is hair care that started with family love. Shane, her mother researched and

I'm so glad that we finally ended. Who created Bling Bling? Yes. We finally got to the end of it last week. We figured it out.
Starting point is 00:56:13 We figured it out. One of the greatest records, one of the greatest records ever in Pop history. And it gave us one of the greatest quotables, greatest phrases. By far. One of my favorite on this playlist as well, Sprite definitely put together one of my favorite track lists.
Starting point is 00:56:27 And Bling, Bling, finally, I wasn't sure who it was that put that phrase into the world. There's a lot of back and forth over the years. Thank God. we figured it out. We obeyed the thirst. We did.
Starting point is 00:56:38 And one of the Bronx anthems, Rory, still not a player. Yeah, classic. So you wasn't really outside when still not a player was going on. I actually, I actually was. You was too long. You was outside, but you wasn't. One of the first albums I ever bought. Okay, but you were still too young to really understand what it meant to the borough and
Starting point is 00:56:54 what it meant to us. I was not a player. 2000, I was not a player. I promised. But one of the first albums I did, did buy and love, loved that record so much. I wasn't a super thug. either. That's on the track list, but classic. Love Super Thug. One of the greatest hip hop
Starting point is 00:57:08 beats. Yeah. Probably ever. I'm not a player or a thug, but I still love both those records. And we still love Sprite. Each week we talk to someone in show business, aka the biz, and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us. Everyone has a good time and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show. We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, not that great. Actually, can you help me shape this? How about we flip it on his head, right?
Starting point is 00:58:25 How about we flip this script? What is the surprise woman? Actually, you think is the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird. Adam Scott This entire time You've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show I would never
Starting point is 00:58:44 Let go of that I have I would never set expectations for something like that to happen If the universe allows for something like that to happen I'm open to it I'm always going to accept You know Danny McBride Fine Yeah it's all this fragile masculinity
Starting point is 00:59:00 Exuding I could smell it walking on the hallway to be honest with you I was like, is that weed? Nope. It's fragile masculinity. Ben Stiller, no. Because a lot of times, out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is. You know what I mean? They're like, oh, what's the state?
Starting point is 00:59:19 Everyone's so dumb. And fake. Right, fake and also not interested. Or just like, oh, I've got my life. I don't care about your life. And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us. Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally, He loves the show and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here.
Starting point is 01:00:17 It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is, and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself. So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book a your first trip. I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Mangashitigula and I'm back with a new season of the podcast Skyline Drive. This time I'm diving into a rabbit hole of peptides, organoids, blood boys, blue zones and brain
Starting point is 01:00:53 replacement to try to understand what this longevity obsession is all about and what it really means to live forever for all of us. I learned about some rad science. I can make a brain for you, and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain, as opposed to his brain. Here's some hard truths. I would expect Indians to age faster, but I did not expect it to be almost a four to five-year acceleration. And get myself into a world of trouble. I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work.
Starting point is 01:01:31 Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know. Listen to Skyline Drive How to Live Forever on the IHeart Radio app Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 01:01:47 He's a, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's a guy. Yeah, Nause is all time. I had a whole argument with Jetta He said, what?
Starting point is 01:01:56 All time. That's the best. Number one. Ever. I'm not that like her. All time number one. Like, it's number one. Yeah, from generations.
Starting point is 01:02:04 I'm saying like, he's a lot. I was saying a whole, I was saying different people. I was putting. kissing there. He's like, what? I'm not going to say no other rap. Yeah. You know what I mean? But I love
Starting point is 01:02:15 Nas, but he's top five, but number one. See, it just depends on like because we like, like, I get age too a little bit. Because I feel like my age, I feel like we all know nods. Even killer knows. We all know, I know, I'm pretty sure that. Kiss knows. We're the same around the same age.
Starting point is 01:02:31 And I just feel like we are a little younger. Y'all, y'all gravitate towards the flash with Jay Z and all this other stuff. You know what I'm saying? I'm saying. I've just said. Yeah, no, Nause is that nigger, but I just... Not number one, though. I've never heard.
Starting point is 01:02:44 I've never heard nobody say Niles was number one. What? I've heard of play people say it. I've always heard either J, Pock, or Big. I've seen more people say Nause than Pock. Really? Nause than Pock. I've never, I've never, I think Jay Z and Niles got a Michael Jackson and Prince
Starting point is 01:03:01 dynamic. A lot of me. Everybody going to say, Mike. Michael didn't get a bunch of nickers that's going to say Prince. Am I right? Yeah, for sure. It's a great comparison. For sure.
Starting point is 01:03:08 Rick a Pampson? All right. But I'm just saying from New York City, I've definitely heard more people have Tupac number one than Nause number one. Because you're going to have people saying Prince and then a Michael Jackson fan is going. Hell yeah. I haven't heard that one. I love Prince too.
Starting point is 01:03:22 I love Prince. But we don't, Mike is like that other nigga. He got, he had just his catalog like playing the shit straight through. That's how I feel about him. Write the music. That's why I think that's such a good. Blaze the music. You're going to get a nigga that's going to go in that bag on you.
Starting point is 01:03:36 I got you. I got you. Got you got your. And I'm saying that's why I think it's funny. You're saying, nah, is the number one. I think the Michael Jackson fan would look at the Prince fan and just give you the rundown of Thriller and go, why are we even having this conversation?
Starting point is 01:03:49 And the same way you could go with Hove down to hits, catalog, money, business, everything. Like, why are we having this conversation? Yep. But if you were Prince fan, you're like, yo, he engineers, he produces, plays every instrument. He wrote the shit. He invented streaming.
Starting point is 01:04:02 Thank you. He was an animal, but, yeah, no, I just being from New York, we love Nas. There's no disrespect ever to Nas. Nobody could ever talk crazy about Nogne. Yeah, he all right you. But I just never heard a lot of people from New York. And if they did say he was number one, guess what he was from?
Starting point is 01:04:18 And I don't even want to be like that. I don't even want to be like, like, and I don't even want to be like kind of like, you know, like just controversial, dig on left, I'm going right. But I like DMX more than I like, oh, I'm just say musically, if you ask me, though, I'm saying like the albums, like, you know what I mean? All of albums wasn't fire.
Starting point is 01:04:35 They wasn't all fire like that. Like DMX had three, three albums that at least that was. No, Hope all albums was fire. Straight through. I'm gonna say DMX kind of, you know, with the- Keep in the world. You know what I mean? Hope never had an album where you can just.
Starting point is 01:04:51 Yeah, what album you heard, Dugan? You were like, nah, he could have kept that. 4-44, could have kept that? No, I'm definitely glad we got that. I'm just like that. I got that on vinyl. You could have that. You know what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:05:02 It's a lot of top 5J album. Word. Listen, I love Jay-Z. You don't listen to music. Listen, I love Jay-Z. I personally, before all of this shit. So my whole thing is that it ain't got in to do with that. I take all out of the table.
Starting point is 01:05:16 But I just think that it's just, at just your age, I just feel like y'all just, when he came up, I just felt like y'all just mesmerized. I have a state of mind. By the champagne, by the crystal bottles or something, you know what I mean? I would do. I had. Twisting, right.
Starting point is 01:05:30 But when DMX came out, he said he changed, he got rid of all of the shiny, all that bad boy shit all that shit was out the window when he came out you know what I'm saying? No, X definitely. And he set the tone he set the tone for certain shit
Starting point is 01:05:42 and then and then you know what I mean? I just feel like I love the window. Demex is in my top five. He's definitely in my top five. He's definitely in my top five. He created a balance. It was a balance. I mean, that shit didn't go out the window.
Starting point is 01:05:54 Yeah. But all right, to your point, I'm fine. Music is like food. It's like you like. If Hove has skipped. albums. Does Nas have skippable albums? Yes.
Starting point is 01:06:09 How many? He does. He does. I'm saying we got, we got, it was written. I'm in my bad. What? No, no, no, no, no. No, no. It was written. It was written was the best. That's the best. That's, that's the top tier. You know what I mean? Okay. But we got the first album, second album, I am album, third album. And then might have been after that, he kind of like, because even when we was in the building, we was in a building doing, doing our shit, that's, that's, You know, the dogs with death gym, too, I'd be like, yeah, we're in the same building,
Starting point is 01:06:37 there's dogs. You know, we made it, you know what's that street, what's that street, the album he was on there. The album, Davenousie Domes was on there. The album,
Starting point is 01:06:47 Street's Disciple. Street Disciple, that album. I think that album, he got kind of lost. It was, I mean, I feel like, because I wasn't really listening to him
Starting point is 01:06:56 as much at that time, around that time neither because we was focused on what we was doing, but I just think that that album could have been like, you know what I'm saying? But you only get like three, four albums,
Starting point is 01:07:03 tops as an artist I feel like you don't get only you don't get like Jay's he don't got every album Jay did was fire my nigga come on yeah I'm just talking about artists in general I'm just saying that's you know like rappers rappers I'm just saying rappers you get like four albums like four that's the most I feel like I feel like everybody don't have even potth don't got that many but that's why I think J and I's are should be in a different category because they're like the first two rappers we've seen where hip hop can age where you have 10 albums and I'm like all a ton of them I like streets Disciple and Blueprint
Starting point is 01:07:35 too, I both think shouldn't be double discs and can be condensed. But I don't think they trash. No, I ain't saying trash, but I just think, but even so, I feel like Nodz even came back and showed niggas what time it was with the new shirt he did. King's Disease,
Starting point is 01:07:50 one, two, and three. But I thought, Nause, life is good is incredible. And, huh? And life is good. Like, I love, you, I love I love, I love. That's the first 444. Any artist, I'm just saying as far as rap and rise. Like, that's, like, I'm putting it through the patch
Starting point is 01:08:04 because I feel like he kind of took you through like and just being like, you know, just creative. You know what I mean? But I definitely like
Starting point is 01:08:10 the King's In Z's and all that of a shit. See, but you know, Naz music is so iconic but Jay Z is a culture shift up. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:18 You understand what I'm saying? His pen is elite. Like I used to just try to study his flow just... And able to shift culture when I put music out his brother
Starting point is 01:08:27 when I just want to act loco, hit him. I'm just like, mad young trying to figure out like how he do that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:32 How he switched up. And still makes sense. What do you feel about this whole, you know, the internet the last couple of days has been kind of trying to push this whole Drake and Jay-Z narrative, Jake versus Jay-Z. I love the shit out of Drake. I think Drake is one of the most topest lyricists and artists of our time. But I don't think it's a comparison of just my honest paying. I mean, I don't, I just, I don't think that they need to.
Starting point is 01:08:59 And I ain't talking money. You know, Drake is what, considered a billionaire as well, correct? Yeah, yeah. That aside, I'm just saying just I don't think that, I just think it's stupid. Now, I do understand that the best are supposed to meet at some point. Right. And they've done, they've done records together. They've done records, but I'm talking about as far as like, you know, I guess battling each other.
Starting point is 01:09:19 That's just what our hip-hop culture is. It's like him and now. It's like who y'all think is the best. Bring them over here. That's two different weight classes. We ain't going on at Muhammad Ali box Mike Tyson, right? No, but I would just, me personally, just for the culture, I think, is what the heavyweighs. We probably would need Drake and Jay to make music together.
Starting point is 01:09:36 I don't need it. I'm talking about a full body of work together, though. That would be dope. To me, that's better than them going at each other battling. This is true. Give us music together. We need to, listen, we give Jay too much credit. I don't listen.
Starting point is 01:09:53 Listen, I'm not dissing Jay at all. Wow. It feels like it. You know, my nigga. He didn't put us to him out. He did. He did. He did.
Starting point is 01:10:01 He did you want to have. He did you on some money, but he used to hustle with him. Just because you're saying you not, this is the business. You'll benefit a 60th Street. Yo, bro, use the hustle with this man.
Starting point is 01:10:11 Just him and home in the car. I mean, I mean, I love that. I love that. I was like, that's like taking advantage of the youth. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:21 Nah, no, no. I think I'll be proud of that shit. Yeah, I was driving. I was the driver. Yeah. Now, see, I have to say, I'm taking all that off the table.
Starting point is 01:10:31 would. Like, he showed, like, he always showed me mad love. Even through the rockabler for the days we was in the building, you know what I'm saying? That's my man. But I'm just, we're talking, we're talking music. You know what I'm saying? But I'm not even the biggest, I'm going to be honest. I wasn't the biggest Drake fan. I just really started liking Drake after they try to stole Kendrick in the, like, in the front.
Starting point is 01:10:52 And like when Kendrick had the lead. Try to prop him up. Yeah. And I'm like, yo, then I made me miss Drake even more. Like, you could have been, you know, a big conspiracy theory. So when you see everybody go right, he's going automatically. He's looking at this shit like Kendrick. Drake won.
Starting point is 01:11:09 You know what I mean? But we never, we didn't. We didn't. I'm not set tripping. That's funny. But I just feel like we didn't hear a body of work from Jay Z in the minute. So it's like we just automatically going off of what? Well, we did and you ain't like it.
Starting point is 01:11:23 What, four, four, four? Yeah. I wasn't that. That's like a classic album. I wasn't it. You got to go. When the last time you listen to 444? Listen to Magnicorder?
Starting point is 01:11:34 All of them albums. That's, too. That's one of them you could, you could, you kind of like. He felt like, he felt like Kanye better than Harry. I love Kanye. Kanye is, he's at the, he's at the pinnacle. He's at the pinnacle to. Okay.
Starting point is 01:11:45 He kind of, you know, with the shit what he did with Hove, I feel like he still told the toe with Hove, you know what I'm saying? On the King, on the, Washington. Washington, yeah. I feel like he stood to toe with Hove, and he had a point to prove. And Jay didn't have a point to prove at that time, but I feel like, you know,
Starting point is 01:12:00 I mean, he's kind of like, you know, he's good. That's why I said, me personally, I would want a Drake JZ album. We obviously would never get another Jay Coyer album. Right. But like, to me, the only other person that can stand next to Jay musically as far as rapping and then like making songs from our culture is Drake. I agree. I think.
Starting point is 01:12:21 L'A. Thone is, I think Drake is a better rapper than Kanye West, but you'll never have a situation where a rapper producer who helped create the new sound of Jay-Z, now they're combining an album together. That's not taking two entities and making some collab shit. They started Kanye's whole career was starting with Blueprint. They sound
Starting point is 01:12:42 good together. Throwing Drake sound with Hove, it's going to start to sell out of email and beats. I love Pena. I like, I've heard Jay on 40 beats. No, I hear you. Okay. But wouldn't it be better to, listen, I'm not even, this is, I wouldn't it be better for a Kanye and Drake album?
Starting point is 01:12:59 No. Kanye do all the beats and then... Nah, because he's going to make Drake write everything. Because Kanye said, I want Dre. If I had it my way, I have Drake right everything. Drake and Kanye would sound better than Drake and Jay-Z. Yeah, I think so, too. I think so.
Starting point is 01:13:10 I think they mesh better. Drake and Easy will be fired. I would like to see the... And that would be big. That would be super big. I don't know why they don't know why they don't do that. They talked about it and that's when shit got weird between them. But that was kind of an idea at some point with, what's the glow record that, like, only you and I love.
Starting point is 01:13:27 Yeah, that's on... What's that? What's the playlist joint? Yeah. But his dad on the, more life. Yeah, more life.
Starting point is 01:13:36 Around that time, I think they were trying to figure out, like, I think they made merch. It was like live in Calabasas or something was like the new. No, the concert that they did
Starting point is 01:13:43 was incredible. Like when they did the, for the free library, who was, concert? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We watched that, I think you showed without YouTube.
Starting point is 01:13:50 Yeah, that show was incredible. Yeah. I was just sitting back watching that. It was just like, damn, like, you know, it was dope to see them too,
Starting point is 01:13:56 but I don't know, either Jay and Kanye, Drake and Kanye 1A1B. I don't think you can go wrong either. I just don't want the internet to try to really make this Drake versus Jay-Z battle thing a real thing. Nah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:09 It's just not. It doesn't make sense. I would put them no big shit talker. But I think that's... I think that's what we need. We do. We do. Just music and it's just like we're in a very
Starting point is 01:14:19 crazy space when it comes to rap and hip-hop when it comes to music. It's like, bro, I don't... You know, you get past Drake's album what are we listening to? I'm talking about consistently like replay value. What are we listening to? Reply value was key.
Starting point is 01:14:34 You're right. I don't see it. I'm finding myself going back and listening to a lot of old rap than a lot of this new shit that's coming out. I listen to the new shit because I have to and we've got to talk about it, but it doesn't stay with me. A lot of it's like, oh, it's cool.
Starting point is 01:14:48 Yeah, he got, he's, he's, he got some skill, but it's like, it doesn't have a lot of replay value. I know what you mean. I know what you mean. Yeah, and it's like, so I'd rather the culture get something that I think we can all collectively like that was incredible. Versus seeing, yo, Drake and Jay Z. Boutter because all you're going to do
Starting point is 01:15:04 is say Drake lost anyway. So like, the real question is, while you wasn't at Yankee Stadium? I said why I wasn't there. Why? Because Jay, Jay was going to beat me up if I went. That's what the internet said. I was going to jump. I was banned.
Starting point is 01:15:20 All kinds of thing. Like, what I said wasn't good enough. So then they started to make up shit and I'm like, okay, y'all think that's what Rory was there. I was there. I was there. Roy was there. I think that's like more of now
Starting point is 01:15:32 because I feel like the last, yeah, they've been putting out music. Kanye put out all this music still and Drake is still putting out music. I feel like Hov ain't really put out music like that. That's the only reason why I'm saying that. No disc to Hove. Yeah, no.
Starting point is 01:15:43 I don't want Hove. We got it, Duke. We know you like that. Yeah, because I thought, I know you fucking. I'm not. I'm like, I don't know you.
Starting point is 01:15:51 Man. You know what? They had you in the crib with the piranas, the facts. Yeah, yeah. That's my man. That's my man. That's my man.
Starting point is 01:16:01 That's my nigger right there. I am not even going to say nothing. Y'all, we show me mad at love. Yeah. Well, we just open off the record. You want to be solid. I love it. I love the fact that you, listen, it's your opinion.
Starting point is 01:16:10 It's nothing wrong with that. We're just fucking with you. But I do think that as a culture, though. I think that we benefit more from Drake and JZ working together than working against each other. Like, I just think that we can, you know, we've seen enough of the battling. Right. Like, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:16:26 and we know where it's going to end up anyway. So let's get some music together. Right, I feel you. Let's do something that's going to, like you said, shifting culture and things that's going to inspire. Like, damn, that was incredible. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, we got to step our shit up.
Starting point is 01:16:39 Like, that's the new bar now. That is a new ball. To me, I just think that, you know, just looking past the moment. Like, I'm thinking down the line. Like, because of Drake and Jay, yeah, for the moment, the Drake and Kendra thing, iconic. One of the biggest moments in our culture.
Starting point is 01:16:54 Yeah. Drake and Jay will surpass that if that was to happen in my opinion it will surpass that but then what? Like coming after that, then what happened? I think it trickles down. I think it trickle downs into hip hop.
Starting point is 01:17:07 I think we get more dope music from just that ball again set. With them battling or working together? No, working together. Okay, okay, yeah. Working together. I agree. I think if they battle,
Starting point is 01:17:17 it's going to be more separation. That Kenrick and Drake kind of like ruined the direction of hip hop where there's people like confused. like they don't know if they want to hear lyrics or you know what I mean how to move on because after that whole shit with them for a little minute I felt like hip hop was stagnant where it's like no records was really catching on people waiting like oh still dissecting bars and which was a good thing a good thing that's literally stop hip hop yeah yeah of course but it's a
Starting point is 01:17:46 good thing because it kind of like brung bars to the forefront but um yeah I feel like it did but just more for messy shit for like it it could could have been great. Yeah. Like if people had the same focus they have on that battle with music, everything would be great. But now it's just like, now we dissecting fucking gambling companies that I hear you, it was good for the time of trying to dissect what Kendra was saying on LA 616. Like, what's this mean? Like I love all that. That was great. But that didn't stay with music. Now we're just trying to figure out. Trying to figure out. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Tax returns.
Starting point is 01:18:23 It's kind of trained people because you was even breaking shit down the Drake shit and Kendrick Ligwoods. Like I was out there. I wasn't really like I'm like yo what? And it made me appreciate them even more. Like I ain't go front though.
Starting point is 01:18:34 Like breaking the shit down on YouTube showing me bad shit. I'm like I ain't know. It was over my head. You know what I mean? Pause. But yeah, I mean a battle is supposed to get person. Kind of trained.
Starting point is 01:18:43 I thought of a battle. But I just think again Drake and Jay Z battle Drake is going in that he's going to lose. No matter what he does no matter what he says, they're going to say he lost. That's just, it is what it is at this point. So that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:18:58 Jay went through the same. They said he lost. Against Nas? He did. Not to me. I got my own opinion. I'm just saying, not to me. I like Jay's.
Starting point is 01:19:07 More, like, Ray. It feels different. Did he lose? Jay? Yeah. Ether's the worst, one of the worst songs probably in rap history to me. I don't like it. I hate that beat.
Starting point is 01:19:17 I get it. I can't listen to it. Oh, man. Ron Browns, what up? I fuck the wrong. Oh, that's great. What you think, Verve? What you think?
Starting point is 01:19:24 But none of y'all as writers would have ever heard, Ether, with no beat on them, like, I'm taking that. Well, don't lie to me. No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't. To me, that says the genius of Nause of taking it. He brought it to life, though. I think it's bad and made it.
Starting point is 01:19:36 You know, for sure. But no, I think Nause won just based off the consensus to the public. Like, that was, that's what it was. Now, if you get down to what everything Jay was saying on takeover, cool. But when Hot 97 did the poll, when I was a kid, it was super ugly versus ether. I don't remember what Naz said.
Starting point is 01:19:52 could say like eight lines like from jehovah right now i mean i remember the hook now's when it started dissing dame dame dame dame dame dame dame dame dame dame dame dain he was just a nigga but in high side takeover is fucking retarded takeover but it wasn't a whole niles dish it was other people yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah because that's what made it were craziest take over take over takeover came on on first right yeah yeah absolutely either didn't come out till like six months seven months after that yeah take yeah now i was just chilling that's what i'm saying this is what I like. You know, Nadra remind me of, Iran and Jay is like the United States.
Starting point is 01:20:30 Oh, my shit. Whoa. He went crazy. Oh, damn. Edit that out. Dude, you went somewhere else. No, I'm just saying because it's like, yeah, yeah. This nigga was chilling and he came and attacked them. No, no, no. We were just chilling. Yeah. I don't know if Iran was just chilling. I don't know if Iran was just chilling.
Starting point is 01:20:47 The niggis was trying to make new country. He was like, I don't know if that's just, I was praying. He was doing stuff for the He was doing what he had to do And they just came over here And just attacked them Because they wanted his spot They moved his oil
Starting point is 01:20:58 They wanted that You know what I'm saying And then you know Nods respond Iran respond And then it's like You shut it down Yeah
Starting point is 01:21:06 You shut it down You know I don't like Do you know I'm like to say it's I'm right I'm sorry to make Iran See you so like
Starting point is 01:21:14 Yeah Yeah They're like They're just chilling Like they on a Fip To be Yeah
Starting point is 01:21:18 Shout to Iran You know Shout out. They're getting attacked. I'm just saying. They're getting attacked, bro. They were just killing. I understand.
Starting point is 01:21:29 You different. I'm just saying. Go laugh. Everybody goes right. You asked him, yo, what's your next trip? Yeah, I read. That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:21:42 Like, he's pumping that up. He's going to Dior somewhere. We need, for this album rollout, we need the Duke the God conspiracy YouTube channel attached to this album. Oh. God shit will do notes. I'm telling you. The YouTube conspiracy shit, if y'all put each record in between his conspiracy,
Starting point is 01:22:00 platinum. Oh, wow. I like that idea. I like that. That shit is platinum. Please don't get it. I'm not going to read this story. I'm not out of red.
Starting point is 01:22:09 I'm not. I'm crazy this shit I heard all year. I like that. And don't act like y'all weren't like some of the first people on YouTube. You still have the greatest YouTube video of all time. Which one is that? We walked through the hallways of my high school screaming, what it looked like I'm not going to drop stupid?
Starting point is 01:22:28 His stupid YouTube video was the greatest YouTube video of all time. That was viral before viral, though. Yeah, yeah. Exactly. We had no idea what fucking YouTube was going monetized to. You had some of the most viral rapper interviews in YouTube inception, in my opinion. Thank you, Robert. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 01:22:49 I told him he need to start a podcast. They want me to stream. Like, Ruba, you may finish. Yeah. On stream, not podcast. We can't do it. Okay. We definitely get into it.
Starting point is 01:22:58 Okay. Outside of that line in saying, and calling all of us stupid, we, we're going to, I got the, I got the new Maserati. You don't know that stupid? I'm like, I didn't know that. How was I supposed to know you had a new Monoerati? I didn't know. Outside of that, you were so compelled.
Starting point is 01:23:19 through that whole video. Like, those part, like, it was part one and two. You captured for 18 minutes. Like, we could not stop watching that shit. Yeah. It's never too late. Nah, they're. So they're not wrong about streaming or just doing your own.
Starting point is 01:23:35 Like, SOBs, y'all better have a camera in that green. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, we did. Yeah, you have to. Yeah, you have to. Yep. All right, give them the album. Double Trouble, August 28th.
Starting point is 01:23:47 SOBs, August 27th, me, Duke the Guard, Hal Rao, Jim Jones, Juel Santana. They're going down. And this is dropping August 27. So if you listen to us tonight at SOB's, Double Trouble. Yeah. El Rale, J.R.R.R.D. Duke the Guard. Yeah. Movie.
Starting point is 01:24:04 Yes. August 28th. Double trouble. Yes, sir. Yeah, we got Shouts de Vado, Davies. God. Joe. Jim Jones on there.
Starting point is 01:24:13 You know what I ain't? I want to hear that jump with you on Vado. Yeah. I'm playing for you before I get out of you. Okay. You're really going to like the album, though. Like, we, we, like, not just... Even if I don't like it, I'm going to say I like it.
Starting point is 01:24:23 No, but I don't like it. It's the same source. It's the same source. It's the same source from before. Maybe and Ralph from the Bronx. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I love the Bronx. I said I love the Bronwyn.
Starting point is 01:24:33 You got to. You ain't got no choice, dude. They like Lebanon. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. I like that. I like that.
Starting point is 01:24:40 I like that. I like that. I like that. I like that. Oh, man. I like that one right there. Yo, listen, man, that's Duke the Guard, Hell, J-R-I, the double-trouble now.
