Hello, and welcome to another edition of This Guy Gets It with Mark Sessler.
Today, Mark discusses proper in-stadium fan etiquette,
the do's, the don'ts, and how to behave in our chapels of footballdom.
And now, here's your host,
Mark Sessley.
Does the NFL have a fan etiquette problem?
It's a question being asked by talking heads
following a string of videos showing football fanatics
squaring off in NFL venues over recent weeks.
To the naked eye, it might appear an uptick has occurred
in showdowns that involve ruffians,
lathered up teens, hillbillies, agitated farmhands,
bulky females with an edge to their demeanor,
drunken fact totems and unclean child mobs angling for chaos.
The truth is, these incidents seem more frequent due to the nature of social media.
Today we have instant access to occurrences that would have remained under wraps in the olden days,
or at most word of mouth.
Those same incidents are now spread vibrally on X.
Dished up meleys between two plus men who care less about a dangling participle
and more about landing a right hook to the cheek of a human wearing a jersey color
one does not agree with.
A recent clash at Levi's Stadium
reportedly included punches,
kicking, and hair pulling.
It goes without saying that this flies in the face
of good sportsmanship.
When you attend an NFL game,
you become part of the effort
to make the experience safe and enjoyable
for all fans.
We don't need the contest
interrupted by Katie O'Malley,
who thought it was a good idea
to suck down seven jello shots
outside Gillette
before tumbling into a cat fight
with Wendy Baxter,
simply because Baxter
showed up to the Patriots game with Ned Rock.
Look, we get it, we do.
Ned Rock is well over six feet tall,
a bit of a fly boy, and has a steady stream of income.
But in this case, it was literally two Patriots fans fighting each other.
Katie O'Malley swinging Wendy Baxter to the ground
by her ponytail of dirty blonde hair.
Redundant, waste of time.
This is exactly what we don't need to happen during an NFL game.
This has been, this guy gets it with my...
Sassel.
