Nick Marsh, man, I like Nick Marsh.
You like what?
I like Nick Marsh.
Oh, Nick.
Okay, sure.
Don't put me on the ice.
About the letters we're running together there a little bit.
That's all I'm saying.
Just wanted to clarify for the people.
Just checking.
Welcome to the opening bell, the NFL Stock Exchange podcast.
Trevor Siggum, I'm a Connor Rogers here with you guys.
A quarter-ish of the way through the 2026 NFL season.
which means we get a little quarterly report here in our rookie report edition of the show,
where we are going to go through the exercise as if we were voting on offensive and defensive
rookie of the year right now.
So four weeks in the season, we got four games under our belts for a lot of these rookies.
Connor and I took a look at the film, the stats, everything from a lot of these guys,
try to get to as many as we possibly could.
And we've got our top three.
So obviously the players that we would be voting for,
for offensive and defensive rookie of the year,
but we got our top threes and plenty to discuss.
with honorable mentions as well.
Connor.
How you doing, my friend?
I'm good, man.
It's always nice when you're the main character of the cold open.
Oh, it's terrifying.
It's terrifying.
And the chef gave me the five second warning.
I was like, ah, I love you, chef.
And he's like, oh, let's see about that after this cold open.
And then press play on the show.
And I was like, okay, it's my turn.
And you know what?
Well earned.
Fair play.
Look at you.
Are you in the penthouse?
Yeah, yeah.
I'm in the penhouse.
I'm going to sky view over.
looking the sweet. I can tell that lighting is phenomenal. No, absolutely not. So I, I purposefully set up
the table to where, of course, the window of the hotel that I'm at is giving me the natural light.
You know, you can't just, we've got the, we got the couch to my right here, but I couldn't have the
light, you know, only coming in, illuminating the right side of my face. What is this like?
It's not, it's not a, it's not a Christopher Nolan movie. We don't need the dramatic light on one
side of the face. We just, we need the whole thing. We needed the show look. And so, uh, thank you
for appreciating the artistic efforts that I had to go through here.
There's not many things I love more than a professional remote setup.
Like you got to make it work with what you got.
It is hard out in the streets when you're at a hotel.
Because you never know the shape of the windows and the lighting.
So you look good, you sound good, especially on a Monday when we've just been on the grind.
And today, you're right.
We're due for a little, you know, God, this is where I miss 16 games because you're right.
It should just say quarter of the season, but it's not the quarter of the season report.
with how many rookies have gotten real snaps.
You got to get fractions and decimals involved now with the math when it comes to dividing.
What's going to happen?
We're very close to having the 18 game season.
And then we'll do it's the third.
We're a third into the season when you get the six.
And that's how content will work.
It's good.
You like that?
No, it's smart.
It's a good way to do it.
Clean math.
Everybody likes clean math again.
You know, when you got to get fractions involved,
it just messes up the YouTube headlines
and that's just it's it's tough
there you go
the chef's gonna
I know that the chef in the description of the show
is going to say a
this amount of the away
this mount of the way
through the season and it's going to be some fraction
or decimal that it's get
33.3 repeating of course
and it's just gonna yeah that's too much
we can't put that in the headline
we need that 18th game I was opposed to it
now because of my OCD
It's like the old TV volume can't be an odd number.
That's how I'm starting to feel about the wacky NFL season right now.
Man, okay, so four games through.
And we've got a lot of rookies that we want to discuss here.
Not sure how the chef has this setup to reveal if it's sort of an all at once thing,
which, by the way, if you guys are watching live,
you can see that the chef also put the results of all the games that we had from week four
because he's honestly the goat of all of these graphics that we have here on the show.
But if it, Chef, just hit the animation.
Tie away.
Okay, there we go.
All right.
It all just shows up.
It all shows up here.
I've got some honorable mentions that I listed,
but we're mainly going to talk about these top threes in each of these categories.
So, Connor, for your offensive rookie of the year, if you were voting on it right now,
have Denzel Boston at your one spot.
You get Spencer Fano with the two.
You got Caden Proctor at number three here on my offensive rookie of the year ballot.
I got Vega Yawane for the Baltimore Ravens.
I got Blake Miller from the Detroit Lions at number two.
And then I also have Denzel Boston on my list.
I have him at number three for defensive rookie of the year.
You've got Arville Reese, number one, Dylan Thien, at number two, Sony Stiles,
at number three.
And funny enough, we have the exact same players.
That's why I was smiling.
In a different order.
I have Sonny Stiles at one.
I have Dylan Thineman at two like you do.
And then I have Arvill Reese there at my three.
That's why I was smiling that we have the same exact three players for defensive
rookie of the year.
You're just higher on Stiles.
I'm higher on Reese.
We both have Thinaman at two who's been, you know,
I know you shouted him out a couple weeks ago.
And then I was obviously covering the Jets game yesterday and watch his tape before that.
I mean, he just looks really, really good.
And the 32 snaps, Bears,
defenders had to play. I know it was a lot. Really stressful day from the Jets yesterday.
I was kidding. I look, since you brought up an extra sentence, I'll ask you. How was covering that
Jets game yesterday? Oh, boy. Well, it was the earliest we've ever been on the desk. Usually
we get on the desk around four, between 415 and 4.30. We'll be on until about 5.30.
This is something that nobody cares about, but I'll say it anyway. I like taking the train on Sundays
rather than driving.
And that makes like my thrilling,
if I'm going to make my express train home real fun.
Yesterday, I wish the Jets played better,
and this wasn't the case.
We were on the desk at 356.
We were off the air at 505.
I had a stroll to the train because I was so early.
It's a joke.
I mean, the Bears ran out the clock for three of the quarters,
and Athena men looked good when the game was interesting.
Yeah.
Where do you want to start here?
You want to go offensive rookie at the year?
I feel like that's a little bit more exciting
since we've got a much different list here.
So what?
I don't know how you felt.
When I was laying all this out last night,
I thought the pool on offense,
because I love your Blake Miller shout out
and your Benga Yuanay shout out,
was a little deeper.
Like those guys were in consideration for me.
I'm going to talk about we're going to do our best,
our good surprise, bad surprise.
I have more on that on the good surprise.
and I already see them in your honorable mentions.
We've talked about Austin Barber.
I mean, we can go on.
Just it was a lot of interesting guys offensively.
I'm not going to lie.
Defensively, I thought it was a very, very shallow pool.
And the fact that we had a consensus, same three speaks to that.
I think so, too.
I was asking the chef before the show.
I was like, are our lists very different?
Because they have the potential to be,
because you can kind of go anywhere with this,
only four weeks into the season.
He's like, they're very different.
but also very the same.
And this is exactly what he means.
I think he was talking about the difference between offensive and defensive
percuitary.
So let's talk about the offense.
The offense is,
I think the more diverse pool of players that we have to speak on.
And you put Denzel Boston at the one spot.
I put Denzel Boston at the three spot.
I think that we both recognize what he has already been as the go-to wide receiver
in a Cleveland Brown's passing attack that seems to get better as the weeks go on.
And I think Denzel Boston just continues to be a bigger part of that.
however successful the passing game is for Cleveland, he is riding that wave.
So go ahead and talk to the people with him being at your number one spot,
why you like Denzel Boston and why he'd get your vote four weeks into the season.
Man, he's really allowed.
And Monkin's been great this year.
I love what he's dialing up.
And you knew they'd use Concepcion and that manufacturer touches kind of role.
But Denzel Boston is playing the role of an alpha wide receiver in terms of what they're
asking of him, the usage, the plays he.
can make. I think some of the plays that haven't ended up in the box score have been impressive
as well, whether it's a, you know, a jump ball where I thought he probably should have drawn
an interference and he didn't get the call or just miss a throw here or there. I think the pendulum
has swung a little too far one way where people are overrating how Deshaun Watson is playing. He's
been better than expected because the bar was so low. But I actually think the offense is what I'm more
interested in, not only schematically from Munkin, how the young offensive line or the new
offensive line is playing, and how the past catching talent, the young pass catching talent is
stepping up. And Boston is a huge part of that. And what's impressive when you watch him,
his size allows him to draw targets down the field. He has that buildup speed and you trust him
to play above the rim. But he can go over the middle and break a tackle and create a big play as
well. We know he can impact the game as a blocker. It feels like he's quickly, quickly
transitioning into that role as I'm the guy in this offense, especially when you're a perimeter
threat like him. Vito said in the chat, Watson trusts him like he's a vet. And I think that
word trust is really, really important here. And when Boston was drafted by the Browns, you know,
you never know, even with ideal situations where there's a quick path to playing time, you never
know with any rookie, but when he was drafted by the Browns, and you and I both said this when we were
doing the draft grades episode is that there are specific targets, even if he is not the target
leader on this team, which I think he is, right, through four weeks, is he the target leader?
I mean, it's got to be him or Fanon, right?
Oh, I guess Fanon, too, right, right, right. So whether he's the target leader or not,
we talked about the fact that there are specific types of targets as a bigger,
wide receiver.
Right.
That that archetype just didn't exist in the Browns receiver room.
And very clearly, the quick game stuff with KC and with Fanon and a little bit with Judy,
they kind of have some of the same targets and they take away from each other a little bit
in that regard.
But when they run these specific like big slot plays, sure, Fanon sometimes runs them,
but they're leaning into Boston being that player.
When they need a vertical pass down the field and they're saying, hey,
we want to get our big receiver of the ball down the field.
Of course, they're going to Denzel Boston.
So I think that beyond just the production,
and I think that's an important part to think about with rookies,
it's also performances, not just production performances.
Denzel Boston has the production versus his peers in this rookie class so far through four games.
But I think the tape is also really, really nice for him.
And showcases the fact that, man, he was selected in the second round,
top 40, but 39th overall is a player that both of us.
us had in our top 25s.
We felt like he should have been much more considered as a first round prospect rather
than a second round prospect.
But he's doing a really great job of showcasing, yeah, I probably should have gone
a little bit earlier in this past draft.
Yeah, and good for him, right?
I mean, the fact that he's outperforming receivers that were taken ahead of him,
and it goes to show you when, you know, these bigger receivers, they are in demand
because finding a bigger receiver that not only has the tracking, the ball skills,
but that build-up speed down the field.
And back to the targets point, it kind of made me laugh.
And not shocked because so much of it is the short stuff.
And Watson's even missed them on some of these.
Concepcion has leads the team with 28 targets.
Fanon has 23, Boston has 22.
Okay, yeah, there we go.
Boston has like 140 more receiving yards than both of them.
So that goes to show you what he's done without the ball down the field
and with the ball and some of the short stuff where he's, you know,
broken a tackle or two.
So let's talk about Spencer Fano next because there's a couple of
a different. I mean, there's, the Browns are having a really good, you know, early returns from
their draft class. You've got Spencer Fano right behind, uh, Denzo Boston. And I think that it's easy to
talk about Spencer Fano. And then I also have Vaggy I want a, a, uh, offensive rookie. And then
right behind him, Blake Miller. So we can kind of talk about the offensive lineman.
We can talk a little bit about, you know, Emmanuel Pregnan, uh, C.C. Maui, Noah as well,
a little bit of Austin Barber. We can kind of talk about these offensive linemen here.
But talk to me about Spencer Fano. So do your.
thoughts on what you were watching from him and
why he got your vote here in your top three.
Well, one thing that I definitely gave
Fano a little bit of, I don't want
to call it a curve, but a little bit of a boost
on is he's been their left tackle
out of the gate. And we've seen a lot of
the guys drafted.
Caden Proctor's playing guard
right now. Blake Miller is playing
right tackle. But a lot of
guys, there's a lot of guys standing out and playing on the
interior and that's okay. Yana Chorden's
out of the gate. But
obviously they have him rolling right now.
But, you know, you look at Austin Barber on this team is playing right guard.
And he's doing a really good job as well.
So I think Fano deserves a lot of credit for stepping into left tackle as a rookie right away for a team,
especially with a quarterback that I don't always love his pocket presence.
Now, I think Todd Munkin deserves a hat tip here because part of the reason Fano looks good as well is
they are being smart schematically and making sure that it's designed to get the ball out so they don't
put him in a really poor spot.
But he's also holding his own.
He's notably holding his own, I think, as a pass protector.
I don't think he's been highlight,
because I'm going to talk about Caden Proctor after him.
And I think Proctor has some real highlight, real run blocks.
I don't see that yet with Fano, and I expect that to grow.
But I think he's growing into, considering he's a 21-year-old left tackle,
a trustworthy pass protector at left tackle.
And this rebuilt offensive line for the Browns has,
really, really helped them make this surprising jump that they're making.
I mean, they went out and tried to build an entire new offensive line.
And the fact that you trust the rookie at left tackle, it's bold, but it's working out for them.
And I think Fano looks really, really comfortable.
We know what kind of athlete he is.
He's explosive enough.
He's a really, really smooth mover in his lower half.
So I've been very, very impressed with how he's been able to keep his quarterback upright for the most part.
I didn't have Benchifano in my top three, but I should have had him on that honorable
mention list. I don't think that I put him on there, but he should be on there because even though
he's given up three and a half sacks, his pressure percentage is higher than it is for some of the
other guys that we have on this list. If you actually watch the film, yes, he has some of those
definitive losses that have shown up as the stats, but the good from him is certainly there. And there's a
lot of, I think, promise when you are watching Spencer Fana. Like, I think that if you're kind of
evaluating who he is, one, I'm.
think that what you're saying is true.
Starting as a rookie left tackle right away, there's something to that.
There's something to know like, hey, you're going to get got a little bit here,
especially in the early parts of your rookie season.
But the movement skills that he has, that athleticism,
there are times when I watched him mirror pass rushers better than even anybody on this list
that's been playing offensive tackle.
It's just I think that the up and down from him is a little bit more than it has been
for like Blake Miller.
who I have on my list, but Fano has been a really, really nice player with good promise to
what we've already seen through the first four games. So you and I loved him coming out of the
draft. And I think that what we would have said about Spencer Fano going into this season
or what we talked about him and what we loved the most about him, you see the baselines of that
only getting better from him. And now he's getting a lot of experience, which is good to see.
you said that you kind of wanted to transition that a little bit into Caden Proctor,
who is the guard for the dolphins, a guy who played tackle when he was at Alabama, kicked inside,
now he's playing a guard.
He shows up at number three on your list.
I feel like Proctor's been getting better as these weeks have gone on,
but what do you see from him to have him at number three?
And I think you nailed it with that.
He does look better.
I think each week he's somebody to me that I like that they're playing him at left guard.
I think it really has in a world where,
obviously the combo of just kick him inside, just kick him inside.
It's become almost too easy to press that button without the nuance and context.
But when you look at Caden Proctor and how he played at Alabama and what he was good at
and where his strengths and weaknesses lie, I hope Miami honestly keeps him at guard in this
situation because I think it has brought out his strengths and I think it has minimized
his weaknesses.
And the weaknesses can be, I don't want to say he has slow feet, but he looks heavy off
the ball sometimes on an island.
And at guard with his size, you're just not going to be able to power through him very often.
I think playing between Patrick Paul and Aaron Brewer was a really, really good way to get him
settled in because Paul has established the hell of the left side.
Right.
I mean, those two guys are mainstays on the offensive line for this team and really good players
that can help him out.
And when you look at Brewer,
who's significantly undersized as good as he is,
and you look at Paul's style,
Proctor gives you a little bit of a mauling ass kicker in between them,
where it's like, hey, this is a little bit more grit and sandpaper
for us on that left side of the offensive line
that we can run behind, we can have him pull.
He can really, really, you know, deliver an impact
if you get him to the second level.
I've been pretty impressed with him in Passpro
because I thought that's where he'd have some early.
struggles. And I think at guard, once again, he looks pretty comfortable there. And I understand
why he's not really getting an overwhelming amount of attention right now. It's been a tough go for
Miami. They don't ever really score a lot of points in these weeks. The offense is, you know,
it's Malik Willis and then, okay, who's out there? The offensive line deserves a little bit more
love because they're doing what they can, especially that left side of it, especially now that
Achan has hurt. I know Ali Gordon had at least one big run yesterday. So he did. Yeah, I thought, I think
Proctor has looked noticeable as a run blocker.
And the biggest compliment is he's not as noticeable in pass protection as I thought.
I think he's been more reliable than I expected.
And I think there's a lot of upside with him staying at guard for Miami.
Bork in the chat saying he's the size of two, he's the size of two brewers.
It's kind of funny because like pull up the all 22 of them side by side.
And obviously, you know, Brewer is is really great and moving in zone.
and Proctor, credit to him, though.
Like, when I had him at the Combine,
I said to him right away,
because he looked slim by his standards,
as slim as Caden Proctor can physically be.
And he'd been, he'd been...
A spelt 355.
I was going to say,
legitimately, him at 350 was a massive, massive win.
He got himself into shape
after his last college season.
And you got to make sure guys carry that over to the pros,
and he clearly has carried that over to his rookie season.
Yeah.
To hit on some other...
Sorry, Treve.
I don't want to cut you up.
off. I see our guy's sports debate arena. I'll get to an early super here.
You know, Cecee, Maui Noah had Zero's gardener and Donald, no mention.
Maui Noah got love from me the first time we did the rookie report. And I think he's been
solid. I do. And much needed for the Giants. But like once again, these are three players.
And I think Bono has been asked to do more. And I think Proctor has been a little bit more
explosive in the run game in terms of opening up big lanes.
Not that Maui Noah has been bad.
I think he's been fine.
Yeah.
But I want to make it clear.
Like I didn't miss on him.
I live in New York.
I see more giants as much as anybody.
I just thought these two guys have been a little bit more impressive in the first four
games.
Yeah, I agree.
I think that it's been really nice for Cici Maui Noah,
who had a really good start out of the gate.
But when I went back and I watched this film last night for this exercise,
he's somebody who I think the footwork and the foot speed is fantastic.
And when you put him in a guard, I think that that really shines because it gives him the ability
to get right to left and to mirrors and pass rushers pretty well.
But I feel like over the last couple of days, the last couple of games, excuse me, his anticipation
for picking up different stunts and twists and late blitzers and things like that has definitely
gotten him into a little bit of trouble.
And you talk about, you know, Proctor being a little bit more of a factor in the run game.
We know that Maui Noah's got the power.
But I haven't seen that as consistently as I've wanted to from him.
I think that he's fantastic showcasing his finesse and his athleticism.
But I just think some other offensive linemen have kind of come out of the gate a little bit hotter than he has.
And so I love the fact that he's starting at right guard.
I think that he's going to be a fantastic guard for the New York Giants.
We're just four weeks into the season.
And I think that some other offensive linemen have performed a little bit better,
which is a good transition into my list here.
Dude, I'd vote for Beggy I want a today for offensive rookie of the year.
I think he so he started the year and he was their right guard for the first couple of games.
He had to play center for them, which is not, this past week.
He had to play center for them against Jeffrey Simmons this past week.
And I went back and I watched the film.
And obviously Jeffrey Simmons, you know, we'll get his every now and then.
But even when Jeffrey Simmons got his, it was like, dude, Vegas kind of right there.
Like even if you want to give that matchup, that fight, that battle to Simmons,
who's one of the best interior defensive linemen in a game, it's not like Vegas.
is getting beat by a drum.
And there's a handful of offensive linemen, I like beat by a drum, by the way.
That's good stuff.
I mean, beat like a drum.
What am I supposed to say here?
That was good.
How would you get beat by a drum?
I've got the Carolina Panthers on my mind with the keep pounding drum.
So I don't, uh, what am I, what's the, what's the, what's the phrase?
What am I, what am I supposed to be like a drum?
What did I say?
beat by a drum.
It's not you can beat by a drum out there.
Oh, yeah, okay.
I couldn't let it go.
It's too good.
No, you shouldn't let it go.
Godzilla says getting pounded like a drum.
Yeah, exactly.
Nailed it.
Go pounders.
All right, let me, sorry, Trev.
No, go ahead.
And then I'm going to, well, in between players, I'll bring up, I'll bring up something else.
I'm sorry.
I'm cutting you off too much.
I need to settle down.
We're excited, dude.
It's a big week.
Normally, normally, normally, normally, I'm the one, normally I'm the one who's getting
roasted in the cold open. And normally I'm the one who's interrupting you.
It's trade places day. We're just trading a little bit here. I think that he's just been so
rock solid though, especially when it comes to a lot of those outside zone run plays that
the Ravens still like to do. They started to do more and more and more of it under Todd Munkin
and now with Declan Doyle as the offensive coordinator. They're still continuing to be an outside
zone run team with Derek Henry. And Viggy I want, I think is a big reason why they're having as
much success because of how he's able to get out of his stance. And
and be able to wall off offensive lineman and hit his aiming points and just the grip strength that he has,
the core strength that he has, the anchor that he has playing at guard or center.
I think that he has been the most impressive rookie through four weeks of this season,
especially with him playing at guard and then playing center this past week.
Really good call out by you, especially when you factor in the move to center and how good he looks,
because he did look good yesterday.
And when you look at Vanga Yawane, I mean, outside of some pass pro reps against,
the Saints, he's been as advertised, the guy that doesn't really have a lot of holes.
It's like he goes out there and you see the strength in the run game and in pass bro,
he's usually a pretty clean sheet as you see the week four numbers right there.
So yeah, outside, once again, outside of that Saints game where he looked human a couple
times, nothing dire.
He's been everything that the Ravens hoped for.
And that brings me to Blake Miller who, man, I thought about putting Blake Miller at the one spot
honestly. And it was a rough night for him against the Panthers on Monday night football. And
going back to watch the film of that game before I kind of came to my final conclusions there,
I went, okay, I think through a four game sample size, Yawane has been more solid, more impactful,
and especially changing positions. But a lot of what you talked about with Spencer Fano is
why I'm really impressed with Blake Miller. You're starting at right tackle right away. And
the athleticism, specifically, I think the arm.
length, you're seeing, you're seeing a lot of edge rushers try to high side rush him and get around
the edge, you know, whether it's some sort of, you know, club rip move or even just like a
shoulder dip and a rip just trying to get to the outside. And even on those plays where,
because I think that Miller's, Miller's footwork is a little bit slower than I thought it was
going to be because I thought that it was decently quick when he was at Clemson and he tested
like a really good athlete. So I know that that's there for him. I think he's just trying to think
of a lot of things.
And so you see that in his lower body.
It's just a little bit slower off the snap.
But even when he's a little slower off the snap,
those long arms that he has,
he's able to push these high side rushers
past the pocket.
So all the quarterback has to do is just maybe take one step forward
and the defensive end is just running themselves out of the pocket.
And he's able to push them away from where the quarterback is
and his ability to,
okay, we talked about this point in the pre-draft
process. His anchor always needed to get a little bit stronger. He needed to handle power a little bit
better. And there are still certainly moments, you know, against the Panthers. A lot of times the Panthers
had Derek Brown and Jalen Phillips lined up on that side of the line of scrimmage where he had to
account for both of those guys or at least, you know, know where both of them were. And that's a tough
matchup for him. I think that that's exposing what is the weaker points of his game from two different
angles. Not that he was just getting, you know, beat by a drum all night. But I do think that,
you know, he certainly lost some times to power there. Obviously, I know that I said the phrase
incorrectly, everybody. No, I think we just lean into it. That's what I was trying to do. That's what I was
trying to do. We're never going back. You're getting beat by a drum physically. Like W.W.
The memes are going to be tough. You know how you just get beat by a steel chair. Yeah, he's got,
by God, he's got the drum.
He's got the drums.
Just straight over the head.
That's what we really need.
That'll bring the country back together.
So I feel as though he has played very, very well.
His pressure percentage is really low through the first four weeks.
It was his highest last week, and so it jumped up a little bit.
But I've just been really impressed with Miller how he's been able to take advantage of some movement skills,
the core strength, the grip strength, the lift strength, the level.
long arms.
He, I thought it would be a little bit of an acclamation process to the strength parts of the
NFL.
And it has a little bit, but a lot less than I thought it was going to be.
And instead, I think he's been really, really solid through the first four weeks of the season,
which is tough to do with tackle, just to say, hey, go out there and start right away in the NFL.
Right.
And I saw this mentioned in the chat.
And it's a really good call out.
I believe it was week two against the bills he was out because I was watching them.
that week getting ready for them to play the Jets the following week.
And man, it was noticeable how the drop off from him.
You know, I know Larry Boreham had to play for them a little bit.
They had some injuries on the offensive line that they went through briefly.
And man, it's, you notice it when your offensive line depth has to go out there,
how rough things can get.
But you forget, like Blake Miller's a rookie.
So it shouldn't be that smooth that quickly.
And he's been really solid for them.
I did want to get to some comments before we get to your last one.
Sure.
I've seen, well, Ina Apologist said this crew is sleeping on Gay Bacchus.
Rookie Report first show.
We talked a ton of Gay Bacchus.
Gay Bacchus has been good.
He's also on my honorable mention list.
Yeah, I know.
We've talked a lot of Gay Bacchus.
The high impact plays for Acus are definitely there,
but I also think that he has some blowlights.
Again, the roller coaster of the peaks and valleys are, I think,
more, they are further up and further down than people see when they're just watching highlights of him.
But he deserves a shout out of the honorable mention because he's been really nice after the game for that.
I saw some love for Carnell Tate.
I'm glad Carnell Tate had a good game yesterday, but there's no denying.
And I'm not saying it's all his fault.
You could argue a lot of it wasn't.
Carnal Tate had a really slow start to the season.
Really slow start.
This isn't the week four rookie report.
This is rookie of the year right now.
So if Carnal Tate has three more games anywhere near that,
then next time we do the rookie report,
Carnal Tate will probably be number one.
Right.
So we'll see where that goes.
I mentioned Maxianature in my honorable mentions as well.
Emmanuel Pregnan, Austin Barber.
I think all three of those guys,
it's nice to see them getting early playing time.
Pregnon, man, it's so funny.
I'm going back and I'm watching his film for this exercise
because I think he definitely deserves a shout out, no question.
The Jags, O-lines.
splits are so wide.
There's just so much space between him and Anton Harrison and the center.
It's just like, man, a lot of times when I'm watching Emmanuel Pregnan lose reps,
it often comes from the fact that if he's aligned with so much space in between, you know,
where his offensive linemen are, normally that'll space out the defensive line as well.
And a lot of these defensive linemen can get a runway to just get into where his chest
and Pregnon already sort of has a tendency for the hands to go wide instead of kind of like coming up and through guys consistently, which is understandable.
Again, for a rookie, you don't want to get, you don't want to get beat too bad across either shoulder, especially as a guard.
So if your hands are a little bit wider, yeah, it could force you to have like some holding calls and some not great reps, some ugly reps.
But at least you're not going to get smoked with one of these pass rushers being able to sort of like club one of your.
arms and rip or swim move over super cleanly and you're getting your quarterback destroyed like a
Goldberg spear. You don't want that. And so there's a little bit of those things that are involved
heavy WWE show today, I guess. But Pregdon has looked really good, especially in the power
run game. I feel like he's been really nice in that area. But adjusting to those, I think,
wider splits is also giving him some reps where there again is some ups and downs from what we see,
but definitely deserve a shout out, I think with the offensive linemen in this group.
Yeah, and looking like one of the better value picks of the entire draft as well,
we've discussed. Totally. Totally. Excellent value for Jacksonville and a guy that played a lot of
college football across three different programs, ready to step in and play NFL football.
Yeah. Anybody else from the, because I got just a couple more on the honorable mention.
I don't know if there was anybody else that you wanted a shout out that we hadn't or that the
chat had recognized or anything like that before we go over to the defense side.
I could do Josh Cameron now because he was my good, my good surprise. Okay. So it's funny,
because Josh Cameron was also my good surprise.
I love it.
And so it's just great minds think alike.
And when I went back and I watched Josh Cameron,
the wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars,
I immediately thought that he had to be our can't miss prospect
because we're working with Fire TV.
And our friends over at Fire TV,
they're making sure that you never miss a game.
We're making sure that you never miss a prospect.
And I think our can't miss prospect that we have this week
sponsored by Fire TV is Josh Cameron because it's not just about what he's doing on the
offensive side of the ball Connor.
It's what he's doing on special teams.
It's what he's doing as a blocker.
Like this dude has been so much fun to watch.
And when you talk about high value players to get this kind of return for a sixth round
pick, Josh Cameron for the Jacksonville Jaguars has been awesome.
He has been.
And this is somebody that, you know, I had him at 139.
I had a fourth round grade on him.
And because I love the special team's ability.
big, good athlete can return, you think can cover kicks and ponds,
and then can he develop as depth through you at wide receiver
because of the size and athleticism and the power?
And for Jacksonville to get him in the sixth round,
one of the more bizarre drafts ever for Jacksonville.
There was so many times that they went way off the board of consensus,
was deemed as reaches for guys,
and then they had some of the best value picks in the entire draft.
So I guess at the end of the day,
it's just funny how things tend to even out anyway.
And if you're right, you're right.
And it looks like they are certainly right about Josh Cameron,
a player that the NFL did not value enough.
I think the sixth round was way too late for him.
He's got some power after the catch.
They use him like you said, Trevor.
When he's out there, they trust him already to be a factor in their run game as a blocker.
And the fact that he can contribute on special teams,
because they have a lot of mouths to feed at past catcher.
You know, Brenton Strange had a big day yesterday.
Obviously, Parker Washington usually has much bigger days than he had yesterday.
You know, they're obviously, they have Jacoby Myers.
They're trying to get BTJ going again.
So this guy really had to earn it.
And the fact that the coaching staff likes him this much already,
kind of speaks volumes of how far ahead he is.
And he makes the most of his reps, whatever you ask him.
You could literally ask him to do anything on two different units.
Yep, yep.
And it's, again, there are so many wide receivers, I think, in this class
who have better stats than him overall, more yards, more catches, things like that.
But when you really watch the film and when you listen,
to how Liam Cohen talks about this guy.
I just think that it makes all the difference in the world.
So shout out to Josh Cameron, our big time surprise through four weeks, somebody that we
wanted to recognize here.
And certainly the can't miss prospect presented by Fire TV with Fire TV.

Imagine thinking I've ever missed a game.
I can't get it.
You wouldn't even think that for a second.
Well, you would never, because you have a fire TV, of course.
Right.
I actually genuinely love fire TV.
I've got two even.
I have one on every floor of the house.
Counting the basement.
Then you absolutely are never missing a game.
Yeah.
Thank you, Fire TV.
Your floor is never missing a game.
There it is.
Anywhere it is.
Also multiple floors on the house.
Look at this guy.
No big deal.
Look at it.
Look at it.
Gotta keep these quads and hams working somehow.
Up and down the stairs we go.
I do love having, we have a very vertical house and so that we've got multiple stories as well.
And I do like having the built-in just like stairs, leg stimulation kind of a workout thing.
Moving in.
Oh, Lord.
Tough.
It was a tough scene.
And we even had movers.
And it was a tough scene.
Well, that's when you're a real adult.
When you finally pivot to movers, you have to.
You have to do it.
Anytime you got to move anything, because the moving never stops.
So that when you have to still get more furniture and you're doing it yourself and you know the deal.
Yeah, we know the deal.
Should we do the bad surprise now or go to defense?
We can do the bad surprise.
Mine's an offensive player.
That's the only reason I asked.
Oh, okay.
So that'll fit.
So hold on.
Before we do the bad surprise player, though, I want to just shout out because the chef is
going to be mad at me if I don't, that you guys just,
subscribe to this show.
We really love for you to hang out.
And of course, we were on the goal to 75K subscribers.
We hit that goal.
And now we were on the march to 100K, getting that plaque, baby.
The plaque that YouTube sends you for getting 100 subscribers.
And it will be a plaque for the people.
In all honesty, though, if this is the first NFL stock exchange show that you've watched,
or if you've watched a couple, check to see if you're subscribed.
And if you're not, we'd love for you to be a part of the NFL.
See Addicks.
Come hang out with us every single time we go live.
We do these things like rookie reports, talk about guys in the NFL,
but plenty of college football talk as well as we are watching,
ranking, everything, all of these prospects.
And the 2027 NFL draft is going to be sick.
So you guys better be here for it.
We're going to cover it like nobody else does.
And that includes the new NFL-LSC mock draft simulator that we have as well.
We've been developing this bad boy behind the scenes for a long time now.
If you guys are members of the NFLSY Discord, you can,
get in on it right now before it goes public.
It'll be going public in a couple of days.
But if you want some early access to draft for your team,
which the order is already updated from all the results that we had this past weekend,
I just went through and I updated the predictive NFLSC big board that the,
that the,
the MDS runs off of.
So there's, I think, over 450 prospects in there.
So you guys can run one round, three round, five rounds, seven rounds,
as many rounds as you want.
If you sign up for an account,
You can do things like ranked drafts and you'll get a score after you draft for a single team.
You can earn badges.
You can get on leaderboards.
You can talk smack with your friends about who is better at drafting.
It's a lot of fun, man.
So check it out.
If you're not a member of the NFL-S-E Discord, that is the easiest way to get access to this mock draft simulator.
But it's also going to be public very, very soon.
So if you're not a Discord member, though, come hang out.
We have a lot of fun around there.
Not to put more work on the plate of the simulator.
Uh-huh.
but when do we you know invoke sicko mode or old school mode where you could do when the draft used to be 12 rounds
or we can make 1993 mode 1993 was the only year it was eight rounds why was it only eight for one
year so i'm pretty sure they trimmed oddly from 12 to eight and then they were like yeah we
actually don't like this. Let's do seven in 94 and it never went back. It's just been seven
since. Yeah, eight round was a trial in 1993 and then the next year they went seven rounds and
they never changed it ever again. Maybe we'll have to put in a badge for MLB mode where it's how many
how many rounds do we have in MLB draft? They trimmed too, but it used to be like 40. Crazy.
40 rounds. Yeah. I will say one of the next developments that we have on the mock draft same year, which by the way,
even mention the fact that there's also build your own big board function there where you guys can
quite literally if you have an account you build whatever big board that you want however you want
that bad boy to be ordered you can save it you can import that into the mock draft simulator if there's
a player for your favorite college football team that we don't even have in there yet you can go over
to build your own big board you can create that player and add them and then you're putting that in
the mock draft simulator if you click on a player you can also edit the evaluation you can come up
with your own evaluations for these players.
It's all over the place, man.
So, like, check it out.
It's really cool.
But I will just say one function that we are working on right now,
undrafted free agent edition as well.
So not only do you have the seven rounds,
but then after the seven rounds,
we're going to have a really cool way for you to go,
okay, let me be able to sign two or three undrafted free agencies.
Guys that didn't get drafted.
But it's not just going to be a list of guys that you just click a button for.
We're going to make a game out of it.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
So, again, that's just, you know,
what's coming on the NFL.
stock exchange,
mock draft simulator.
Again, just check it out in the Discord,
but it'll be public in a little bit.
We just very much appreciate you guys.
Appreciate you guys supporting it,
loving it,
and giving us all sorts of feedback
on how to make it better
because, man,
you guys have already done a great job doing that as well.
Let's get to the surprise,
surprise in a bad way.
Who is the bad surprise player
that you had here on?
Right now,
Keelan Rutledge is kind of going through it a little bit.
Dude, he's played the most snaps.
of any rookie, offensive rookie.
He's out there.
And to be honest, he is out there.
He is out there.
I thought this, it took him obviously a little earlier than someone like me expected,
and that's fine.
But it's, you know, he's going through it a little bit.
I think the problem is every game he's had that moment or two in pass pro where it's
a quick loss.
Yeah.
And your quarterback, especially CJ Stroud, is just not going to be able to often
recover from those quick losses.
There's one or two of those every game
that kind of kill the play.
And that's going to happen to young players.
But I thought he'd be a little bit more impressive
in the run game right away.
And I think he's just been mediocre in the run game.
I thought he'd be one of those guys
that you're surrendering a little bit
in pass pro early and hoping that he's going to develop
in that area.
But he's going to really help give you some push in the run game.
And I don't, I think the first part's true.
I think the second part is he's not dominating in the run game at all right now.
Yeah, I mean, when you look at next-gen stats, his 17 quarterback pressures are near the top
of the list.
I don't have every single rookie offensive line right in front of me, but it's at the top of the
list of the guys that we're talking about here today.
10.2% quarterback pressure rate overall.
That is double digits.
That's the only player again in this select list that has double digits.
And then you mention it, the quick quarterback pressure.
the quick losses, nine of those already this season through four weeks.
And so, yeah, I think that Keel and Rutledge has some plays that do look nice,
but man, he's got some plays that really derail.
Yeah, that can really sink a play.
You're totally right there with Robert.
Thanks or, like, I came to the table with the equation solved,
and the teacher said, okay, prove your work, and you did the prove your work part.
The next gen quick losses, I mean, it's on tape, but when you actually say,
see it written down and tracked, it's like, oh, boy.
You know, that's why we're a great team, brother.
That's the disappointing players, you know, with as much hype as rookies get and how
excited we get for these guys, I think that there's a handful of players that you could,
shout out here.
Like somebody mentioned Eli Stowers.
Yeah, I mean, Stowers, obviously just in a non-factor at all whatsoever.
I mean, that's a major disappointment.
But to be honest with you, some of the top draft of defensive linemen, you got David Bailey,
you got Rubin Bain, you get Caleb Banks.
You expect more from these guys that were top 20.
and top 10 picks.
And Bailey's had his moments.
There are some moments where the explosiveness and the high side rushing,
you know,
he's taking advantage of tackles that really aren't ready for that first step
burst that he has.
But I kind of talked about this during the draft process.
And we both did.
Like, hey,
he's mainly a first step rusher type of a player.
And even if you're betting high on him,
I think even the people who did that were like,
it's got to be more.
Like you've got to build off of that.
You've got the unteachable trait of how quickly you can get
off the ball, but it's got to be more than that. And I think it's got to be more from that for David
Bailey, as we've seen over the last couple of weeks. Ruben Bain, I mean, he basically got stonewalled
by Amarius Mims, who could probably be an all-pro offensive tackle this season to be fair.
It's his nightmare matchup. It's his nightmare matchup. But then, you know, he's got the groin injury.
He missed his time. He's not really effective when he's out there. I mean, it's a mess on how those
guys are being deployed right now in Todd Bull's defense. It is. So it's not an ideal situation. But
straight up you wouldn't want more from what we've seen from bain even though i'm not hitting the panic
button on any of these players yet and then calab banks there have been moments from calab banks but man i went
went back and i watched the tape over the last i think it's two games that he played and it's like man you are
you are getting washed out of the player or you are blocked way too easily here uh for the athletic
ability that i know you have for the strength that i know you have and certainly for as high as you
were drafted um to make an impact and so i think all three of those are you are you i think all three of those
guys have just been disappointed to me. I would have liked to see more from those guys four weeks in.
I'm with you all the way. I mean, we definitely expected more from Bain. I think Bailey really had some
moments with speed weeks one and two. And then I think he's been largely invisible the last two weeks.
And this one was a like, it was glaring how the entire pass rush was just dead against Chicago.
So he's, he's coming off what I thought was his worst game as a pro. And then I, the point about
Caleb Banks was the thing that was most startling to me when I was watching his film last night.
When you see him on the ground in the run game, you're like, that's not supposed to happen.
You are too big and too talented.
I think though the big theme here is notice that they're all defensive linemen in some capacity.
And this is one of the like think of Dallas Turner right now.
This is one of those positions where year one can be really hard.
Year two can even be not pretty.
the hand usage and the angles and the read and react that playing up front requires is definitely a tougher curve.
And I think that's why we're seeing because even the depths of the edge class,
I know T.J. Parker had some moments yesterday, but he didn't come out of the gate hot.
It's kind of been everybody just not really getting it going so far.
And the trenches are often, you know, the area of the game where it could take a long,
time for these guys to adjust. That's why that's why on the flip side I've been so impressed with guys,
you know, like Fano, like Vega-Gawane, like Blake Miller, like Yonichur wasn't his first start, right?
These guys who were able to play really well because I think some of these defensive
linemen are just very used to whooping on offensive tackles that don't play in this league,
right? They just like even if you're coming from the SEC or playing some of the best teams
of the Big Ten or whatever it is, like it's different in the NFL. You go up against
college all stars and beyond every single week once you get to this league.
So I think the defensive linemen are just having a a rougher go of it.
That's for sure.
Let's talk about those defensive players and talk about the top three players that we have.
If we were voting on defensive rookie of the year right now, you'd be giving it to R.
Vell Reese, who you had at number one.
Dylan Thineman is at number two and then Sonny Stiles at three.
I've got Sonny Stiles at one, Dylan Thineman at two, and then Arvill Reese at number three.
We'll talk about some of the honorable mentioned players a little bit.
after we get to these guys.
But the thoughts on Reese.
I got him at three, so I got my opinions,
but you got him at one.
I'll let you start the conversation off here with them.
Reese has been the opposite where I said Bailey had some moments week one and two,
weeks one and two,
and he's really slowed down.
I thought Reese had some moments week one and two where he looked like a little overwhelmed
and the game was moving really fast.
And then I think the last three,
two games,
he has been a not only comfortable,
but a difference maker against Tennessee.
Yeah.
It is hunting season right now for Arville Reese, especially that game.
We just watched against the Arizona.
All over the ball.
Makes plays in coverage.
Makes plays on the ball in the air.
Downhill with physicality attacking the run, run and chase, hustle, nonstop motor, great athlete.
You know, you saw the run defense effect against Tennessee as well.
So he's had not only two bounce back games, but two, I think, standout games where I was
like, man, there's times where he looks like the best player on.
the field right now. So Arvel Reese has really, really picked it up. And I love that they're
mostly playing him at linebacker because we thought he was, you know, the best linebacker in the
draft and a great home for him. And he'll develop some pass rush ability for sure. But it's,
it's why you're getting such an instant impact out of him right now. Yeah. I think that certainly
what we even saw this past week, which it's much more important, even for a sample size of four
games, you go, okay, well, you got to take everything to account. To be honest with you, what you've
shown a little bit more lately, probably weighs a little bit more, just because you want these guys
to be getting better. And for Arvill Reese to look the way that he did this past week, you feel
really good about it. I love the fact that he is in this position as an offball linebacker to
fit the run, set the edge, come downhill as a blitzer, and just be really physical. And to me, I think
that it's freed up Abdul Carter to be more of that pass rusher type, right? We talked about, oh, well, you
drafted both of these guys back to back, are you going to try to play them at the same
position? Are you going to put, you know, Abdul Carter more at offball linebacker? And they do a lot
of things with their front. I think that it's, that's the beauty of being versatile. But to me,
for the most part, Arvill Reese has been that off ball linebacker. And for the most part, Abdul
Carter has been that pure pass rusher type of a player. And I think that's the right
spots that you want to put these guys in for them to give you everything that they possibly can,
where you're getting the most out of their strengths and you're mitigating their weaknesses as well.
So the power profile of his game and the attacking profile of this of his game,
you got to feel good about it.
But ultimately, I still think as though Reese can sometimes show a little bit of hesitation,
even when it comes to the run defense stuff.
I don't see a lot of that with Sonny Stiles, man.
I think Sonny Stiles looks fantastic.
And so I got him at one.
Obviously, you got him at three.
so you're recognizing what he's been able to do as well.
But man, as just this sifting linebacker, you know,
in a defense that has two linebackers out there,
it's Frankie Louvo and it's Sonny Stiles.
And the way that he can, you know, fit and reach his aiming points
and the points where the ball carrier is going to cut up field on outside zone,
the way he could come downhill and take on pulling guards
and these power plays as well,
he's got some really nice coverage reps already,
especially when he's asked to cover.
you know, tight ends or even running backs out of the backfield.
He's got some really nice reps there.
So to me, it's the well-roundedness of the coverage game from Sonny Stiles on a play-by-play basis
that I feel like I just see the impact from him so often when he is out there.
Perfect, no.
But impact, man, and what he could be size, strength combination and coverage and run defense.
I think Sonny Stiles has been as advertised early on in the season.
And the most important thing for Sonny is you're starting to see, because this is ironic,
Ironically, the identical trajectory and pathway he had during his last year at Ohio State,
he's getting more comfortable against the run as a traditional linebacker week after week.
I think it wasn't perfect out of the gate for the commanders.
There are a couple of times where he's just this step late or some contact kind of takes him off balance.
But I think you noticed it against the cults.
And it's going in the right direction.
and that was exactly how his season went at Ohio State,
where he's starting to read his keys a little better.
He's starting to hit the hole,
and he's not afraid of anything physically.
So I wouldn't be surprised if in four more weeks,
we're like, man, now Sonny's just an impact run defender.
And we know what his speed and tenacity can do in space
and blitzing and covering.
So there's just a lot to like with this.
We said it.
This was a special linebacker class at the top
with teammates at the top,
which is so funny looking back at it.
They were on the same defense,
and they are already living up to the hype.
Yeah, and I think that people are naturally going to say, well, hold on,
where's Jacob Rodriguez?
You know, Jacob Rodriguez, he...
Not the same.
I don't know if...
I don't think he officially leads the league in tackles.
I think he's won behind.
Who was it?
Is it Alex Singleton?
Who's one ahead of him?
But anyways, there was ever a useless stat.
But like, he's racking...
He had 18 tackles this past week, which is...
It is impressive.
But he had a bunch of solos.
tackles as well. But I think it goes back to the point that I believe you're about to make.
And it's the conversation that we had after week one, I think, of Jacob Rodriguez racking up a ton
of tackles. And you go, okay, yes, Rodriguez having a really nice start to the season that
absolutely deserves recognition. He's on my honorable mention. But it looks different.
when you watch Arvill Reese's film and you watch Sonny Stiles film and you watch Jacob Rodriguez's film,
the physical profile that Stiles and Reese play with is just a level that Rodriguez does not quite have.
And so he is winning with savviness and football IQ and I don't want to take anything away from him.
But I'd still take what I've seen from Reese and Stiles over Jacob Rodriguez,
even for as good as he has started this season.
Yeah, I didn't think this one was very close.
This has been fine.
It's not one of those situations at all.
I do think when you, it's weird because he has so many plays where he's so involved,
good or bad.
When,
when guys get up to the second level,
I mean,
he can really get wiped out of the play.
And or he's,
he's playing with,
I don't even want to say playing with too much depth,
but he's at too much depth by the time the back hits the hole.
And it's like,
okay,
you maybe got an arm there for an assisted tackle,
but there was already five or six yards gained on the play.
He's been solid.
Don't get me wrong at all.
But I don't think it's the same combo at all.
And to be fair to Jacob Rodriguez,
the dolphins are on a tear down right now.
So it's not like he's running around out there with a ton of help.
I'm not going to say that either.
Although if you could argue anything,
you know, the one place the Dolphins should be pretty okay at
is the middle of the field, I guess, on defense.
But at the end of the day, he's been fine.
I didn't think it was a no-brainer to have him in the top of this defensive
rookie class right now.
Yes, he is second in the NFL in tackles right now behind Alex Singleton.
And so I do think that there has certainly been impact that we should recognize from Jacob Rodriguez,
but I do think it just is different when you watch Stiles and Reese and Rodriguez's film back to back to back.
But he's winning with a lot of high football IQ, which is a very important thing.
I just wonder how much stronger he'll be able to get to take on that physicality of the NFL the way that those other guys do.
we both had Dylan Thineman at number two on our list here.
I talked about Dylan Thineman, I believe, after week two,
sort of recognizing just two really good weeks that he put on.
And I just continue to be impressed with him.
Chicago is asking him to do a lot of different things.
They are.
From depth, play in the slot, play with the linebackers, run and chase,
play in man coverage.
Thineman is asked to do a lot and he's up to the challenge.
I viewed this player as a top 10 over.
overall player. You had him at number 15. I had him at number seven. So we recognized him as one of the
better players in the draft class. He ends up getting selected at 25, which I thought was a total
steal for the bears. And I also thought this is a perfect type of player for what the bears were going to
miss since they had so much turnover at the safety spot. And to me, he has been a playmaker that
they have really needed on a defense that had a lot of question marks going into the season. So to me,
Dylan Thineman's been all over the place. And what has been put on his plate for him to be able to
handle all of that and handle it by playing really well.
Very, very impressed at him early on.
Yeah, I mean, the snap breakdown, 10 right on the defensive line, 55 in the box,
12 in the slot.
But the thing that stands out to me, besides also playing on special teams, which is nuts,
is the 114 at free safety.
Playing a traditional free safety role as a rookie is an incredibly big ask at the NFL level,
especially when you look at a team that you would think if he didn't get hurt,
Kobe Bryant would be handling a lot of that with his ball hawking skills, his range,
or at least interchangeable between him and Kobe Bryant.
I think Kobe Bryant's injury put a really, really, you know, big task in front of
Theneman to be steady out of the gate.
It's like, man, we lost a big acquisition at safety.
We need you to be ready to roll.
And he looks comfortable.
I think the tackling has been better than I expected.
My one criticism of him was sometimes when he'd come downhill.
his come to balance would be a little out of whack,
and he'd kind of whiff, even though he'd trigger downhill hard and fast.
So we know what this guy can do with the range he has,
the speed and athleticism he has,
and playing that traditional free safety role.
And this has been a really, really big win for Chicago, in my opinion.
Yep, I totally agree with you.
A couple of players that I have in my honorable mention list,
if you guys have some shoutouts in the chat as well.
Amantor Delane, I think what he has been out there has been really nice
for the Kansas City Chiefs.
He was somebody that I strongly considered to crack into that top three for how well I feel
like Mansour Delane has played.
And you got to feel good about him and Noel Williams on the outside for this team moving
forward.
J. Sean Barnum, I think when you talk about somebody who's made splash plays, I mean,
Jashon Barham for the Dallas Cowboys and Gabe Accus, I think, are sort of of the same
story.
But I even give Jay Sean Barnum the advantage a little bit here.
And just the impact plays that this dude has.
made. And it's certainly been up and down for the Dallas Cowboys and some of the young guys on
that defense. I should have included Caleb Downs in my honorable mention because I do think
the Downs has been good. But he has also been a little bit of a roller coaster, which you would
kind of expect for a guy who's asked to do a lot of stuff. That's why it's so impressive,
Athena men, is handling it as well as he is. But I feel like Barham, man, has just been as an attacking
off ball linebacker. I know you liked him a lot pre-draft and what he had the potential to be.
Because I thought he could do both.
I thought he could rush and play off the ball as well.
And that's why you see some of those explosive plays.
And he, once again, you know, had some lapses early on in the year.
And now you're starting to see him turn the corner,
which is incredibly promising for sure.
Yeah.
Who else I have here on Honorable Mention?
I had, oh, Josiah Trotter was on here as well for the Buccaneers.
I think he's been really nice and run defense.
I feel like he's been pretty aggressive in doing that.
I think the coverage,
I think the thought about him in coverage is largely buoyed by that
interception pick six that he had where he's still giving up over,
he's given up over 100 yards in coverage,
almost 10 yards per coverage rep per target.
And so like the coverage overall from the linebacker unit in Tampa Bay has not been good.
And I think Trotter does go into that a little bit.
So good as a run defender, but even as a run defender, there are times when I've watched him and it's like, okay, you're aggressive and it's good.
We need you to be aggressive here, but you're guessing wrong.
And there are times when he sort of read the run fit a little bit wrong.
So a solid start to the season.
But just saying kind of the reasons why he didn't get into the top three here for me.
The chat is shouting out Malik Mohamed, the cornerback for the Chicago Bears.
I'm not going to lie.
I did not watch Malik Muhammad for this.
So I did not get to him.
I don't know if you watched him or had thoughts on Muhammad and if he was close here for you.
Well, with the Jets offense yesterday, you wouldn't really need to know who played for, you know,
the only memorable moment was Tyreek Stevenson got burnt by Isaiah Williams for a bomb.
I see some love from Sully for Skylar Gil Howard.
I will double down on that love.
He was my pleasant surprise the last time we did this show because what stood out to me was he was given the line.
Valuable run defense reps, and I didn't think he'd be doing that right out of the gate for Detroit.
Of course, Hezekiah Massis had the big week with two picks.
Yep.
There was one more that I had as well that I don't want to forget.
And now, so you mentioned Grayson Halden.
I think Grayson Halton has had his moments as well.
I think he's had his moments, but again, like, I didn't.
What can he not do?
I don't think he's good against the run.
That's, yeah.
So, I don't know.
I mean, the Niners, credit to him.
They win with toothpicks and bubble gum with the amount of injuries they have.
It's the most incredible coaching job I ever witness in the NFL why we're here.
I'm trying to think.
I thought there was one more defender.
We talked about ACS.
Well, some people in the chat want us to say,
Zaki Wheatley.
He who will not be named.
Who's that?
The last time that we named this player, the stream shut down.
Oh, no, I'm not doing it.
The stream shut down.
We can't do it.
We can't do it.
I thought he who cannot be named was good week one.
I think it's been, you know, a little.
bit of an up and down ride since. Yeah, it's been, it's been a little bit of a ride on the downward
side of things. But, yeah, we'll continue to monitor things. But certainly with the risk to not
shutting the entire showdown, we can't risk it again. We can't say the name again here on this show.
So get it off the screen. Chap, get it off the screen. What are you doing? He's trying to put
all of our lives at risk. Risk losing the whole show again. Then we'll have to upload a half a show.
somebody said who drafted
Voldemort
that's awesome
you have to figure it out
that's the
let the mystery be
that's another bit
of the show
that we have here
we had
we had a bunch of questions
from the good people
as well
I think we got this one
from the we got these
from the discord
we can run a few of those
before we get to some
of the super chats
to end the show here
let's see
oh the first question
who
who is the single
greatest
Steele so far this class.
Doesn't have to be a drafted player.
It could be a UDFA as well.
Has to be drafted.
Oh, has to be a drafted player.
You don't count.
Gotcha, gotcha, got you.
That's fair because sometimes then the bar is so low for a UDFA.
That's true.
It's true.
I mean, we talked about two of them already that are on the same team.
Emmanuel Pregnan and Josh Cameron are in that conversation.
Josh Cameron, absolutely.
But it feels like,
it feels like Denzel Boston almost very clearly.
No. I think that Denzel Boston is certainly good value.
He wasn't the first receiver they took.
I mean, that is true.
They liked someone better than him.
It's crazy.
And he makes them remember it every time.
Oh, man.
I was thinking, I was thinking guys that were drafted like way later.
Yeah, that's, you know, that are already popping off a little bit.
Like Skylar Gil Howard.
Sure.
You know, Josh, Josh Cameron, yeah, I think Scottel Gill Howard was the sixth round.
Who else did I have on here?
I mean, Hezekiah Massis was a fifth round pick, you know?
I think you're in huge value for him.
Playing a lot for them.
Emmett Johnson.
The running back for the Chiefs.
The running back for the Chiefs.
Yeah, I think that he looks good.
Trace Mack, kicker.
Yeah, getting some kicker love.
Absolute bombs.
Boms away.
That's what I'm saying.
has he missed yet this year?
He missed one kick from the 40 to 49 yard range,
but he's two for two from 50 plus.
He's two for three from 40 to 49.
He's one for one from 30 to 39,
and he's two for two from zero to 29 yards.
That's good work if you could find it.
I'm trying to think who else that we might have missed that.
I'm trying to go really deep.
Hezziah masses is a good call out
because he's already played a lot,
and he was taking a 175th overall.
Ooh, Carmona, the offensive line from Arkansas and started out of the gate.
And I think that he's been, he has been like, again, I didn't shout him out in terms of like winning the offensive rookie of the year award.
But when you talk about a guy who's been drafted so late a fifth round player starting on the offensive line right away, that does deserve some recognition and shout out.
So Fernando Carmona, the offensive guard for the Tennessee Titans.
I like that call out.
That's a good one.
He's got to get healthy,
but Jonah Coleman will be that from what we already got to see before he got hurt.
It was like,
he might be the Broncos best running back by December.
Let's see.
What was another question here?
Oh, somebody asked,
is there a chance that Jacob Rodriguez could be an all pro this year?
Well, I mean, depending on how the voters want to vote,
if they just want to look at tackles,
then, of course, there is a chance for Jacob Rodriguez to be an all pro.
But to me, Jacob Rodriguez being anything,
close to an all-pro requires plays like the ones that he made at Texas Tech.
You have to force fumbles.
You have to recover fumbles.
You have to get interceptions.
You have to get pick-sixes.
Like that's just,
that's what it's going to take from him.
It's got to be so far beyond tackles because he's also not a heavy like blitzing linebacker.
So he's not going to rack up a ton of sacks.
He'll get some tackles for loss.
But it would be, for as much as Jacob Rodriguez is playing well, I'll dump some cold water on the,
the all-pro thoughts here with him.
Yeah, I mean, you think of the road you have to go through to be an all pro at this position.
Like, you always have Fred Warner in your way, right?
That's an obvious one.
You know, it's crazy because I think he's going to be a free agent,
but it feels like Ventrell Miller is just playing his ass off in Jacksonville.
Yep.
Dude, who isn't playing their ass off in Jacksonville, honestly?
Yeah, that team is living large right now.
They have a good roster, the right head coach, just,
Yep. Now Travis Hunter looks fully there at corner.
Yeah, it's a lot to like.
If we were doing a power ranking show, I'd have the Jags at one.
Me too. I think the more interesting debate is who you have at two.
Because I might have the Niners at two.
That was the first team that I thought of.
And I don't think I'd have them as a top 10 roster in the NFL and they'd be number two.
in their current state sure right yes factoring an injury yeah i think factoring in injury i'd have
either the seahawks or the bills at two seattle is a great call they are a well-oiled machine i probably
will still have them at one i'd take jacksonville at one i think i'd have seattle two i think i'd have
the bills three niners four yeah get around to that would have that would have i'd have to
the top five. You got to give me the fifth one here.
Who would the fifth one be?
Is it the Chiefs?
Or is that too rich too soon?
It might be the Chiefs.
It could be the Chiefs.
Honestly, when Lamar is healthy, the Ravens are right there.
If Caleb was healthy, I'd say it bears.
I mean, Ben Johnson right now, it's either him or Shanahan is the best coach in the NFL
at this moment.
Yeah, I think, I think, if Caleb were healthy, I think I would go,
Chicago at five.
But the chiefs are right.
The chiefs are obviously right there.
I mean, they're pretty sure they're top three in the NFL and EPA per play.
Like total, well, EPA per play and total EPA.
And Kenneth Walker, my God, man.
We have so seldomly seen free agent running backs that are worth absolutely every penny the way that Kenneth
Walker.
He should hold out next summer.
He deserves a new contract after this.
Hey, when you think about it, they see.
sign him to that deal. He had his career rushing day in week one, and then he broke his career
rushing day in week one again in week four. So technically, the price of the brick should now have
gone up, yes, from whatever you thought that Kenneth Walker was going to be. Isn't Kenneth Walker
the like 10th highest paid running back in the NFL? No way. He's ninth now.
So after he signed that deal, Gibbs, Bejohn, and Jonathan
and Taylor all got new deals right right right sayquan and mcalfrey were ahead of him a chan got his deal
derrick henry still makes more than him and then breese hall got his deal well okay him and breese
basically have the same exact contract brest makes 150,000 dollars more per year than him
Kenneth walker should hold out next summer you might you i want somebody to prove me wrong you
actually might be on to something here i did not realize that these numbers were what they were
kenneth walker's the biggest steal on football right now he might he's not but he but it's
but the point but the point stance the point stance he's not but the point does stand um all right
