Starting point is 00:00:00 I was once watching tape on a fellow that goes by the name Drew Mestamaker and came to the conclusion that he should be a punter to optimize his skills. Did he punt in high school? He did, right? Yeah, that's what he did. The number nine comes in for the unit, and that's Drew Mestamaker. And that is a booming punt. It goes down inside the 10-yard line. I forgot that is what he did.
Starting point is 00:00:21 He didn't play quarterback. He didn't play quarterback. I'm shady. I need good vibes for the Lions tonight. Wouldn't Jaden Ball be a perfect? compliment to Javier Gibbs next season. Wow. Talk about wanting to live a rich man's life. I don't think you need to spend a top 40 pick to get Gibbs's compliment, but I like it would be a lot of fun. It would be a lot of fun. Yeah, getting that power guys. I mean, obviously they had Montgomery
Starting point is 00:00:58 and Gibbs for a while and that worked out. You'll be able to find that guy in rounds three to four. Yeah, I'd go. Let me, uh, let me not shortchange the answer to this question. Like let's say ball is too expensive as a number two back, which I think he is. L.J. Martin would be great. Right. We love it. He comes to mind. Mark Fletcher, Miami.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Perfect landing spot. Yes. Darius Taylor, Minnesota. Yeah, guys like that. Darius Taylor does have, I feel like a lot of Montgomery to him. Yeah. Similar style. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Bryce gave us $10 super chat. That is someone who moved from San Diego to Raleigh, I have to say the East Coast start time. are better. Get to handle your business in the morning and then watch sports from noon until bedtime. That is, that is the benefit. But that's, but that's why people say the central time is the best because it's that feel. But then all the sports just happened an hour earlier. And they end an hour earlier. Yeah. I'm not going to lie. And I hate to be the like, now that I have a kid guy. Because I'm going to be that guy. I can't see this guy. Yeah, but you do have a kid.
Starting point is 00:02:05 So the thing that's changed for me, living on the, it's never bothered me living on the East Coast and not only loving sports and then working in sports, I've just always been a night out where it didn't matter what time the game ends. Even when the Mets will play on the West Coast,
Starting point is 00:02:24 I'll stay up till, because the game starts at 10, I'll stay up till past one to watch the game. You just make up the sleep the next morning because I also work in an industry where it's not like, not every day, is I'm there at eight and I leave at five. Like showtimes are, you know, like Sims and I are alive at 11 this year. I've worked on Fantasy Football Happy Hour in the past.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Sometimes we were live at 12. It's, you know, and sometimes you work nights. You and I do this show usually from like three to five Eastern time. When you have a kid and he decides probably when you wake up, now I stare at the clock a little bit. Like, man, if this Monday night game goes into overtime, I'm in big trouble right now. I'm in real big freaking trouble here. But you just got to deal with it. So I agree and hold it.
Starting point is 00:03:13 I do. I like the East Coast, but I think I stand with you the most, Trevor. It's off by now an hour for me. Just an hour. It's just off by just an hour where I'm like, you just need that buffer.
Starting point is 00:03:23 That buffer zone. Yeah, we're close. That hour buffer zone. Yeah. And when the NBA finals tips off at, you know, 921 p.m. Eastern time. The NBA Finals thing.
Starting point is 00:03:35 is just outrageous. Thank God it's over summer, but still. I hate it, yeah. Sports debate arena gave us $10 super chat, said with the offensive rookie of the year leaders, Mendoza, love, Tate, Tyson, etc., missing games and or in ass situations, and the NFL's efforts to shout out
Starting point is 00:03:54 offensive linemen, like with Protector of the Year, how far do you think we are from an offensive lineman winning offensive rookie of the year? And then question Maui Noah. we are closer than we've ever been we all i don't know that's the way i answer it i don't know how close we actually are going to be but i think that we are closer than we've ever been to doing something like that like if penny stool were to come out of the draft right now and start right away and look like a monster i genuinely think penny stool would get considered for offensive rookie of the year
Starting point is 00:04:31 but you still have to have you've got to have like the headline presence about you you know you know what I'm saying like it's got like it's got to be like a joe wall or a penny sewell or something like that and now we know it has been obviously very good through one week of the season and we talked about Maui know a lot throughout throughout the draft process but I wonder like if he's notable enough you know what I'm saying I think that that has to that has to go into account here as well. No, I, for a guy to win it. I think they should be considered to win it.
Starting point is 00:05:09 I don't think we're, like Trevor said, we're closer than ever because the recognition for the individuals is better with more fans and people watching tape and advanced analytics and all of that, but the voters, which reminders, we are not voters. I would love for this show to have a vote, but that'd be nice. Maybe at some point in the future. Be nice. They just won't operate that way. They just won't.
Starting point is 00:05:37 And those are the people that decide. And until the NFL or the media gets more creative with who has the votes, that's not going to change. Yeah. Sully said you may have covered this during the show, but you have to watch Michigan Edge Dom Nichols. Didn't you bring him up? I feel like you've talked about him.
Starting point is 00:05:58 No? I talked a lot about, the other Michigan edge. Well, the other part of the super chat is also, you guys see that Winningham called John Henry Daily, the vanilla gorilla. Yes. Which was a offensive lineman's nickname from Wyoming last year.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Which was also the Arkansas defensive line. Oh, man. The ball, like the shaved head. Yes. Yeah. What was his name? I don't know. He played in the league.
Starting point is 00:06:33 He got drafted. John, I want to say Hemingway, but it's not Hemingway. What is it? What is it? Descendant of Ernest Hemingway. I mean, yeah, if you go back for enough. American novelist. What is it?
Starting point is 00:06:51 No, it's not Landed Jackson. No, it's not Landy Jackson. The chat keeps saying Landed Jackson. It's not Landed Jackson. It's a guy who played inside next to him. What was his name? Oh, Ridgeway? Yes, John Ridgeway.
Starting point is 00:07:07 John Ridgeway. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Yeah, this nickname has gotten a lot of run. That was going to, that was going to bug me all day. I'm glad we got through together. I got to watch, oh man, I got to watch Nichols not on broadcast. Watch a lot of the Michigan, Oklahoma game at work last weekend. I think Henry Daly started to look like himself in this game, though, for sure.
Starting point is 00:07:31 That was my takeaway. Josh gave us a $100 super chat here. Josh, thank you so much. director's member. Absolutely. Haven't been able to make the last few lives due to work. Currently on the back nine with this on speaker. Connor,
Starting point is 00:07:47 love the draft Kings reads during the Notre Dame games. Thank you. Even my girlfriend recognized you from me playing the podcast constantly. Hashtag go Irish. What a guy, Josh. Thank you to you and your girlfriend. Josh, how we do on the back nine? A great super chat.
Starting point is 00:08:04 That's really where I was going to go. How we do on the front nine and the back nine? We got to know. Got to know how the golf. You're a real one for instead of playing music on your speaker on the cart, you have this show going. And I hope you're having a great time on the back nine. Dude, there might be a world where I can pull off like a sunrise tea time on Monday mornings. When you're not traveling.
Starting point is 00:08:31 When I'm not traveling. Yes. There might be a world. Like, I got to, it's got to be the quickest round of 18 ever. basically every time. I have faced this dilemma, and I have thought about this, because Sims and I are alive at 11, and I tried to math the math of...
Starting point is 00:08:47 Yeah, you try and make you work. I was like, if I can tee off at 6. Yeah, right. And I'm done at 9. Right, yeah. And I shower and get in the car. Don't shower. Who cares?
Starting point is 00:09:00 Yeah. How much am I going to sweat in the fall in the Northeast playing golf? Exactly. Exactly. Yeah, you're right. You need that. you'll get it. Trust me,
Starting point is 00:09:10 the thing with golf that, like, you realize is you'll, you'll do anything to make it work. Once again, I was saying I was a night owl. When I started golfing just two years ago, yeah, like Kristen would be like,
Starting point is 00:09:23 you're not getting up at 5.30. And driving up to golf, one of my best friends from home, and driving like 45 minutes north and teeing off before seven. And I was like, oh, yeah? I was like, I'll walk. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:36 I'll get up. Walk great. feed her breakfast and get in the car and go and every time never missed the tea time ever king king you you will do this yeah yeah you will do that's good that's good i need that believe thank you josh that was awesome uh chub wub gave us five dollars said gave acus and withergoat took over their first games at the nfl season i wonder where they went hashtag noticing noticing acus is one of the best rookies in week one of the NFL he was and you let the people know on the day edition of the podcast. Yes, I made it by number one for defense
Starting point is 00:10:11 for game of the year. Jaywack gave us a $10 super chat said, back to the time zone discussion. I've lived in all of them, but Pacific. Mountain is easily the best. With that said, Cal Wright tackle with Jimithee Lewis. Jimith looks fantastic, as does Dom Nichols. He's him as we got to take, got to check out. Dom Nichols. $7 here from Logan. How does Sam Levitt ducking old miss affect LeBron's legacy? in parentheses his draft stock. Sam was already in.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Sounds like he's playing. Yeah. Beginning of the pod, no Sam Levitt. End of the pod, Sam Levitt's playing. You know what? At this point, I'd be more shocked
Starting point is 00:10:52 if he doesn't play. It's Lane shenanigans and he went through the walkthrough. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Daniel gave us $2. Said Dante Moore's mother doesn't love him.
Starting point is 00:11:04 That's not true. That's just mean. That's not true. That's not true. Logan again, I was once watching tape on a fellow that goes by the name Drew Mestemaker and came to the conclusion that he should be a punter to optimize his skills. Did he punt in high school? He did, right?
Starting point is 00:11:21 Yes, okay. That's what he did. That did sound familiar. And I think played safety. I forgot that is what he did. He didn't play quarterback. He didn't play quarterback. He just punted.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Oh, I forget. God about that. Unbelievable. Jeffrey, $2 Super Chat said Oregon's really missing Sadiq. Yeah, but if Oregon still had Sadiq, how could the Jets run 05 personnel? And their red zone offense is
Starting point is 00:11:52 hand Sadiq the ball. Hell yeah. And it's awesome, brother. Tony Lee. Excluding Arch, who do you think a quarterback would be the best fit as of today for the Jets? I'm starting to lean towards Mentsa.
Starting point is 00:12:05 That's interesting. I every day, goes by, I'm like, Messamaker? Is he going to do this thing? I mean, I'm a big, big arm, so I think it's probably my answer. You know? Yeah. I got to stick to the rankings. Yep.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Camp cutups, asked for Austin Simmons thoughts. Talked about this in the show. I haven't watched him fully yet. Mr. Jack Matt also shouting out Austin Simmons and Anthony Calandria. Is that how you say his name? Yes. I think. Okay. All right. All right.
Starting point is 00:12:34 I got to watch him as well. Love and Life in Alaska, said Dante Moore's clearly just Diego Pavia, except he doesn't win. He'll be a steel of a UDFA, low floor, low ceiling, low energy, low value. He's cooked. Oh, wow. Love and Life in Alaska has an Oregon Avey. And so.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Is it the Felford again award? Yeah, it is. It is the Felford again award. I know that meme when I see it from afar. Yeah. What's Pavia doing? He's got to be close to WWE, right? You didn't even say waiting for UFL.
Starting point is 00:13:07 You just wear right to pro wrestling. Yeah, I mean, he's got to be close. Dude, I love Bobby in college, but let's be honest. He's got to be closer to WWE than an NFL roster. Oh, my God. Still lost in between, gave us a $50 super chat. We appreciate you. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Hawaii time is the best sports time. No way. It's too early. Waking up at 7 a.m. and heading to the sports bar for breakfast and football was peak bro bonding. With Sunday night football ending right before dinner, most underrated was that the UFC events happened at 6 p.m. instead of midnight. That last one's fair.
Starting point is 00:13:53 Still lost in between. I'm curious if you are a resident of Hawaii or if you came to this take on vacation. Because that goes back to my like watching Jets Giants back into that. or whatever it was, it was an awesome gimmick. I wouldn't want to do it every weekend because waking up and going to the bar to watch football was awesome. But I don't know if football on that early in the morning is a great weekly thing. I'd also be a little bored at night.
Starting point is 00:14:25 I'm not, I like watching shows, but I'm not a crazy show. Like, I'm not always streaming a show. I go through long periods of time. time where I'm just not watching a show. So I would get to, in this scenario, post dinner, and I would be like, well, now, now what do I do?
Starting point is 00:14:45 Now, what do I talk to my wife? Pay attention to my kid? Change a diaper? Walk the dog. I think I'll just go to bed. No, that's when you play golf. No, that's when you get out and you do this. Yeah, night golf. You ever hear of it? So when you head out and play golf?
Starting point is 00:15:00 Uh, go to bed. So I can catch my 5 AMT time. Right. No, you forgot. I could have been at 8. If I could prove my wife wrong. That was what you're actually doing. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Nash gave a $7. He said, Jalen Coker, Lee Hunter, Bryce Young, 9 certified dogs. I want squirting back. Heard princely has a spare knee. Hey, you know what? It sounds weird to say for a team that got smoked 59 to 37. Panthers didn't look that bad. I think that this.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Kyle Bears are just going to be an obvious juggernaut this year on offense. And I thought that Bryce actually looked really good. Scepter $2 said NFLSC. Layout is a plus goat status for sure. We appreciate you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh, there's another one from Scepter here. NFLSC, beard gang is elite.
Starting point is 00:15:56 Look out ladies. Just two ladies specifically. Yes. Just two ladies. Yeah. Oh, Jeffrey said Barton Willie would clown goatee, Connor. I would never survive on the Jets desk.
Starting point is 00:16:08 I'd never survive. I'd be, it would be a bad day for me. I can't do it. Can't do it. Let's see. Jack Wilderness. I have not watched Jesse Legree, Trevor.
Starting point is 00:16:26 He said I know it's early for him. Yeah, I have not either. I have not either. It's real. I had a five-hour Super Satch. said, step guys, go watch my
Starting point is 00:16:35 former middle school teammate Robert Fitzgerald safety for Northwestern. Look his impact on that program. Trust it. I have not seen Robert Fitzgerald.
Starting point is 00:16:45 So, all right, now he's on the radar. Got to get eyes on. Julian said all of this just to throw three picks versus L Tech. He was talking about the Sam Levitt
Starting point is 00:16:53 readiness routine. Mm, mm, yes. Shots fired. He just wasn't ready enough. He needs to add more things to the list.
Starting point is 00:17:02 13 hours of sleep. Yes. Not blue light glasses, but a blue light helmet. Yes. No, not even a blue light helmet. Surgically implanting a blue light layer over your eyeball. That he could like press. Not even contact, not even contact lenses.
Starting point is 00:17:24 I'm talking about surgically putting something over your eyeball. And he has like a button on his wrist that he could press and it flips them up. Yes, right. Let's see how much you really care about being. ready, Sam Levitt. I don't believe you enough. Yeah, yeah. Still lost in between said Bordels, aka the boat,
Starting point is 00:17:39 used to just blackout the night before games and ball out. Well, I, ball out is in the beauty of the eye of the beholder. He'd play. He did play. He did play. I mean, at UCF, I suppose that he did ball out. Yeah, it works pretty well for his draft stock. BG.
Starting point is 00:17:57 The kid said, CR, Pete Alonzo, wow, I don't care if this is NFL SC. I know. Yep. I don't even know what to say. Great job, Matt. Henry, $5 said, if someone, if I see someone say the material is better than than David Dampier, I'm going to flip. Bro is top 75.
Starting point is 00:18:16 QB2, Bird, Ficklin. Oh, he's also got a crazy arm. It's going to be top 20. You heard it here first. Bro is an athlete. I've only seen flashes of Fickland, but I think he does have a cannon. Yes, I feel like I see. saw a crazy throw
Starting point is 00:18:36 week one from him. Yes. Right? That's what I'm thinking of? But that's the only thing that I've seen from him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Great name. Bird ficklin. Insane name. If that is. Really your name. Savone. Yeah. All time moment.
Starting point is 00:18:54 The real name is Tim. Peter gave us a $100 super chat. Peter. A founding 500 club member said, hello, you gigachad alpha males. Shout out to you as well, Peter. I hope that you haven't forgotten about a chud like me. We could never.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Have we talked about Reed Harris? So the wide receiver from Arizona State, he's been bawling out, and he was Conner's guy over summer sending lots of love that the chef. He's the goat. He is the goat. He is the goat. And king, love you all. Appreciate you, Peter.
Starting point is 00:19:25 I have only seen Reed Harris from broadcast. Same. It's been good. The shouting report started, but I've got to go back and watch the games. But he looks awesome. I mean, he looks, yeah, I mean, Reeves here. Because Omarian Miller is in that offense now. And I thought he was going to be the takeover player.
Starting point is 00:19:44 And Omari and Miller has looked good at times. But Reed Harris, man, he looks like their go-to in the past the game. So he looks pretty legit for a guy who's got NFL size. That's the thing. He's big. He can block. He's physical. He's a dynamic red zone presence.
Starting point is 00:19:57 You already see it with the four touchdowns he's caught. I'm excited to see what. does the rest of the way and you can see why I liked him so much over the summer and a chance for him to go even higher in my rankings. Oh, by the way, the last super chat that we had is a dynasty. It says Jesse Legree, true freshman at Oregon State. Okay, so have that's why true freshmen don't have them on the radar yet, but I guess that is a good shout up there. Tony Lee gives $10. He said, is there a position? You would be confident in your scouting skills that if you were a GM, you'd lean more towards drafting than paying big money and free agency. Oh, that's an interesting question.
Starting point is 00:20:32 Um, receiver? Yeah, I think receiver is definitely one. I think that running back's another. Like, I think those are the two that it's lower stakes with the running back position for sure. And it's a volume game with receivers. But I do feel like you are good at scouting those positions. And I feel like that would probably be mine as well. Just because there's a lot more volatility for the other ones.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Like, I like safety too. Like, I feel like, and I can really get a good beat on a guy who's playing safety really well and how he sees things in space. I'd feel pretty confident about that, but those would probably be the two positions, or the three positions that I would say I would lean on the most. The thing is to,
Starting point is 00:21:18 a lot of the receivers don't make it to free agency anymore. So you got to go find your own. I mean, how many months did we talk about, like, oh, Alec Pierce is the big fish in free agency, and then they get a deadline deal done with him, and it's Alec Pierce. He's a good player. But.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Right. These guys just, they just don't get, they just don't make it to the market anymore. Every team takes care of their receivers now. They're number one and number two receivers. Bryce gave us $10. He said, My wife, who designed the Air Aid Boy graphic is happy to license it to you guys
Starting point is 00:21:54 for a small fee of naming rights for your next child. Chop, Chop, Trevor. Seems like a good deal in my opinion. Oh, there is. Love that. There's Bryce. And little Bryce. Teach him early.
Starting point is 00:22:06 to be addicts of the pod you love to see it probably say 500 club member as well a lot of action from the 500 club members here today you love to see it that's a baby that loves 13 personnel I can tell it's true
Starting point is 00:22:19 definitely him and Frank Reich yeah we got it we got another super chat for Reed Harris and then Falcon gave us a $5 super chat said have you guys watched any hos Hengsney is that he see his name might be a typo no it's not
Starting point is 00:22:37 I don't know it's not. Yeah. He is the quarterback for Colorado State. I have not seen him. Redshirt sophomore. I've never heard of this player before. He's already thrown nine touchdowns in two games.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Okay. Yeah. Well, okay. He put it on Wyoming in week one. No, I haven't seen Hoss, but. No. Insane first name. I mean, if that is his real first name.
Starting point is 00:23:01 If that is indeed your name, Wildora. Can you imagine naming your kid. It's Hoss Haney. I don't have the stones to do that. Hoss? I respect those that do, though. Number one, I would never get that three. Nine touchdowns to start the year.
Starting point is 00:23:22 Yeah, well, his name's Hoss, so he better finish the year or 54 touchdowns through the air, and he probably will. I wonder how that gets through approval with the wife. I learned a lot of names that were off the table fast. Well, hold on. What if the wife suggested it?
Starting point is 00:23:38 Then that's the name. That's what you learned. Yeah, right. That's how you end up being named Hoss. That's actually how we got there. Last one's Krispy Pounder. Dante Moore is a swagged out Dan Moore. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:23:50 How does this affect the draft stock, by the way, working on a Safeway sushi uncrustable? Oh, it sounds delicious. I love biting into my Safeway branded salmon avocado, uncrustable. That is foul. That is tough. What a way to end.
Starting point is 00:24:12 A Krispy Pounder. You win the day. Tony Lee 500 Club. Ruben Bain zero sacks equals bus. David Bailey one sack equal future all pro. I don't write the rules. It's amazing too because once again, Bailey sack was Cam Ward having to go out of bounds before you got to him.
Starting point is 00:24:29 Counts the same. And then BG the kid. Numbers. Never lie. Never lie. Ruben Bain is buns. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Wow.
Starting point is 00:24:39 People showed up early. Like it was Black Friday. had a Best Buy for a TV discount. Just the diss Ruben Bain. Ruben Bain's, when Ruben Bain gets his first 20% pass rush win percentage, you guys owe us $5. All of you, everybody, everybody, for all of this disrespect,
Starting point is 00:25:04 it's coming. I hope it's coming. I really do hope it's coming. Jeffrey gave us $2. So can we take a piece? at Tankathon. Let's take a look at Tangathon. Yeah, can we do that? Tyler, can you pull this up? I don't know how difficult this is for Tyler to do with the new layout. Can you share? Can we'll buffer. We'll give him time. All we need is tank. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's got it.
Starting point is 00:25:26 I have fully full faith in him. I actually, this is. I'm hearing rumors. I'm hearing rumors that the Jets are looking good on Tankathon. The buck's got the number one pick. Let's go, baby. I didn't know that. I didn't know that. Come on. Let's go. Why didn't we do a mock draft this episode. The hell are we doing the last 90 minutes? This show would go nuclear if the bucks had the number one pick and the Jets picked third and fifth from not their own page. I'm talking Jeremiah Smith.
Starting point is 00:25:59 Done. Give me Jeremiah Smith. You got Jeremiah Smith. 100%. A, Buka. Hope you like the shadows, buddy. Because guess what? You're back in.
Starting point is 00:26:08 Take a seat. Oh, man. No one is safe right now. Fernando Mendoza was just clapping along on the sideline. He got diced. Emeka Obuka with an okay day. He gets disused. I had no idea that the bucks were currently slotted to pick number one.
Starting point is 00:26:24 The straight-the-schedged schedule difference is jarring, too. And the Jets at three and five. Dude. What a time. The Browns couldn't have looked more buns. And they're picking eight and 12. Yeah, that's fine. bro where is miami miami's 13 yeah this is my because certainly this will be the order this is my favorite
Starting point is 00:26:54 peter said first overall not even taking dill and stewart shaking my head yeah you know what peter brings up a good point that's very fair well you got rubin bain so yeah who you know apparently got to shut out the whole reason the whole reason why we're you know picking number of bain who wore the harry potter invisibility collection Oh my gosh. The New Orleans Saints are 0 and 1, but they're picking 19th because they're technically first in the division because of strength of schedule. That is unbelievable. And the most NFC South sentence of all time.
Starting point is 00:27:29 Has there ever been a more NFC South sentence? All four teams. Oh, and one, baby. We didn't win a game, but we're in playoff positioning. But playoff position, that's the NFC South. That was actually a great exercise. Yeah. Thank you for, thank you for having us do that.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Let's see. Andy, $5 Super Chat said, caught JJ Watt referring to Dominic Orange as big citrus during Packers Vikings. What's the next big nickname from y'all that we should buy in on early? What was a good summer scouting nickname this year? I don't remember any jumping out. We didn't have a McPounder or... No. It's a good question.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Don't worry, folks. They will, there will be some. There will be some. Yeah, stick around. We promise we'll get some. Jay Staw, Borer Kercher robbed from the graphic. Also not going to overreact, but Lawrence MVP and Parker Washington offensive player of the year.
Starting point is 00:28:31 No, I mean, no need to overreact. Yeah. I think you're reacting properly. I didn't like a wagon. Again, guys, I didn't, I have not gotten to the Browns Jags game yet because that game was just never competitive, never going to be close. And to be completely transparent on the shows that I've had to do since the games were over, not much coverage.
Starting point is 00:28:52 We knew that we were not going to talk about Jack Browns because it was never close. So I promise I will get to the Borker tape sometime over the next couple of days, maybe even on the flight home. Felipe said, hey, Connor, what would you celebrate more? Your son being drafted at number one overall or the Jets finally having an interception? That's a toss-up. Yeah, that's close. I think my son being the number one pick might top when the Jets finally break this endless streak.
Starting point is 00:29:22 That might happen first, actually. Yeah, you know. I met. That's right. Oh, man. Hey, they didn't need it. Hey, they didn't need it. They didn't need it.
Starting point is 00:29:33 They didn't need a pick for the win. He just looked around and said, all right. Well, this is a dead play. There was one play that I was watching when I was going over the Carnell tape. and it was just a sale concept at his left. And J.C. Latham was getting pressured from, I think it was David Bailey. But it was in a sense of like David Bailey was speed rushing on the outside shoulder. And sure, he was like kind of near Cam War, but it was one of those reps that I was talking about where he's not really close to winning cleanly.
Starting point is 00:30:07 He's just sort of disrupting things. The other four offensive linemen very clearly had their. shit handled in front of Cam Ward. And instead of looking to the left and throwing the corner route on the sale concept where Carnell Tate was open, he just hesitates and then rolls to his right to the side of the field where there is one receiver in like three defensive backs. And it's like, dude, man, that's, I don't, I don't love armchair quarterback. It's an extremely tough job to do.
Starting point is 00:30:42 But that's the kind of stuff. like Cam has to be better at. Yeah. That's exactly what we were talking about. And I saw it when I was watching the Carnel Tate film. Jay Berg's, five-dollar super chap. Said, yeah, yeah, rookie report card or whatever. We need to talk more about Drew Mestigoat.
Starting point is 00:31:00 Love the show. Love to see Gabe Accus getting the recognition. Drew Messamaker from Oklahoma State sure looked pretty good against Oregon this past week, Connor. He is a, and we are going to do our full draft show on the Thursday show. On Thursday, yeah. But as a sneak preview, boy, is it a wild ride watching him. I mean, he had moments against Tulsa when they lost week one where you're like,
Starting point is 00:31:29 yeah, this is going to be a level of competition adjustment for him, and it's going to take a while. And then he goes out and beats Oregon. And, I mean, he was making some wild play. It's not like he was just along for the ride. And he was not good the week before. No, they lost a Tulsa. And he made bad decisions. And then this week you go out and beat Oregon and you're making huge plays with your legs in your arm.
Starting point is 00:31:52 So Mass the Maker, dude, he, so I saw a lot of people saying this. So I don't want to act like this is an original thought because it's not. But some people are like, boy, is this going to be Josh Allen, Wyoming? Yeah, I. Yeah. And then the NFL will bet on that. So it's going to be fascinating. I think any Josh Allen comp is bad.
Starting point is 00:32:17 But I don't think he, I don't agree with that at all. I think I said this to you over summer. He plays like USC Sam Darnold. That's exactly what he plays like. Now, he's not on the level. Donald was at USC yet because he hasn't played enough football. But that's the style that he plays in his great and bad moments. Ty gave us a $50 super chat.
Starting point is 00:32:38 Ty. Wow. All right. Thank you so much. We very much appreciate it. Thank you, Ty. To the Bucks fans that may not know, Marius Mims is an absolute demon. Bain will be fine. It's just that Mims is entering that Pro Bowl, all pro tier of offensive tackles. Also, Dexter Lawrence had the most known tackle game ever, a little on the score,
Starting point is 00:32:56 but a massive impact. Yeah, we talked about that when we were talking about Bain. I think Amarius Mims is going to play like a Pro Bowl, all pro caliber offensive tackle this year. And this was truly the worst case week one matchup for Rubin Bain. I think Rube-Mame is going to be fine. I think Amarius Mims are going to be more than fine. And I agree. I think Dexter Lawrence's presence is something that this Bengals team has been missing for years and years and years. And it was great to see, not as a Bucks fan, it was great to see. But it's great to see Cincinnati achieving their potential as a team because I think they could absolutely be a back to the AFC championship and maybe even Super Bowl type of team. Yeah, I'm with you all the way. You know, obviously some things to clean up, but that's going to be the case for every single team. but that's why you go out and make the big trade for Dex
Starting point is 00:33:43 because he's supposed to make everyone around him better. Saptor gave us $5 Super Chap. If you had to pick based on just week one performance, who would be your elite employee award winner? Out of anyone? Out of anybody. I mean, before he got hurt, Zay Flowers? Oh, anybody in the league, not rookie.
Starting point is 00:34:10 that's what I was wondering. I was like, does this count for anyone or just rookie? Because rookie... I mean, Lamar. No, yeah, Lamar, Lamar. Yeah, pick your Baltimore Raven. Yeah, Lamar. Lamar. Lamar was unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:34:25 He would be my pick there. And then for a rookie would be the elite employee. That's a good question. Nobody like went out and had like, oh my God, they're going to take over the league type of debut. No. I mean, is it J-Rod just for the numbers? No. I just think the low-light, the low-lights mixed in would make that a no.
Starting point is 00:34:52 Yeah, you hate him. Yeah, you hate him. Apparently. Yeah. Hate the troops. Jesus. That's why his wife said, but that's your accusation. No, he's a helicopter pilot.
Starting point is 00:35:04 You're out here. Look, I'm just, I'm just saying. I know she's a helicopter pilot. That doesn't mean I hate the troops. I'm just saying. Oh, my God. We do not hate the troops here on this show. No, we respect the hell out of the troops.
Starting point is 00:35:17 Yeah. All right. Tony Lee 500 Club again. He's in the 500 Club for a reason, folks. Thomas Jones is a New York Jet great. 14 rushing touchdowns is in a season, is a season franchise record. That's right. That's a sneaky trivia one because I feel like 99 out of 100 people would say Curtis Martin.
Starting point is 00:35:35 And Curtis Martin is actually third on the list because in between Thomas Jones and Curtis Martin. Can I guess? Yeah. Is it somebody that I would know? Yes. Is it Ladanyan Thomason? No. Okay. It's Thomas Jones again. No way! Thomas Jones in 2009 had 14 rushing touchdowns. In 2008, he had 13. And then Curtis Martin had 12 in 2004. Real football. L.T. though, sneaky great jet. Like most guys that are legends. Legends in one place when they have that one more stop after, they usually stink.
Starting point is 00:36:15 Like, we always make the jokes, like, you post, like, the meme of somebody in the uniform when they're washed. And when LT was awesome on the Jets. Awesome. Yeah. Yeah. I remember him being pretty nice on the Jets. That's why I thought that would have been the sneaky answer there. Scepter gave us $2 super chat.
Starting point is 00:36:33 I said, can I get a better help ad read for the Chargers fans out there? Yeah. Yikes. Yikes, man. I mean, that Chargers interception that Herbert threw, that's like a week 14, I'm tired of this shit throw. I mean, I can't remember what receiver he was throwing it to.
Starting point is 00:36:59 They are not open. The concept is not designed. I'm just throwing this. The concept is not designed for there to be any sort of vertical deception. There is one receiver running deep. He had the defender on him. The safety easily came over and made the interception. That was a very strange, I'm tired of this shit week one interception.
Starting point is 00:37:21 So we got to hone that in pretty quick, or things might unfortunately get off the rails here. Still lost in between, gave us $5. He said, try not to overreact, but one week into watching Emmanuel Pregnan makes me even more confused that he felt 88 to the Jags. I didn't grind the Jacksonville. line tape, but from the plays I saw of their offense, they just absolutely kicked the Brown's
Starting point is 00:37:47 ass. So I wouldn't be shocked if he's in the middle of that. I don't know, by the way, and this isn't me reacting to just week one. I will never understand Pregnon not being a top 60 pick. But yep, yeah, we liked him quite a bit. Um, M-Kidoza, five-dollar super chat. What do you think, or who do you think will grow the most and be the most impactful by the end of the season given their first week performance? I think Reese or Bailey. Oh, that's a good one.
Starting point is 00:38:20 Yeah, that's a good pick too. Stiles would be in that. Stiles was the guy that I thought of immediately. I think Stiles are going to be great. It feels like Reese and Bailey have a really nice floor right away. Yeah. They impact the game immediately. It feels like styles by the end of the year
Starting point is 00:38:36 will be a different player than even what we're seeing right now. now. Yeah, I like, I think Stiles Bailey could be. Although I wonder how much Bailey is really going to work on sort of the, the quote unquote, negatives in his game. And if he's just going to try to, you know, get after the strength, which is fine. You could, I mean, doing that a rookie year is totally fine and understandable. No, I know what you mean. But I wonder if Stiles is just going to just turn into an absolute stud by the time we get to the end of the year. Yeah. No, that's a good call. answer.
Starting point is 00:39:10 The next one is from Widgeon, who said as an admirer of Dante Myers and his initial impact on the Bengals in the game, any first year UDFAs or lower draft picks make an impact. I mean, a shout out Skylar Gil Howard in the sixth round. Yeah. Yeah. With the Lions.
Starting point is 00:39:25 UDFAs, I don't know. Jack Strand should have played for the Falcons. Yes, Jack Strand should have played. Yes, he should have. Should be the Jack Strand show. I mean, why not at this point? I know Harold Perkins, speaking of the Falcons, he had 22 snaps. I think they're using him as like a sub package backer.
Starting point is 00:39:54 Which you should. After all that, Harold Perkins was a sixth round pick. Once upon a time, he was like the next big thing. That's true. M. Kudos gave us another $5. So I never thought I would say this, but given how strongly I feel about the commanders, the Cowboys could be last in their division, unreal. I don't think that's happening.
Starting point is 00:40:12 I think that's, that is the official, like, and I get it, but that's a little bit of the weak one overreaction. I think Dallas, that was like the worst version of them. Again, I got to go back. I got to go back and watch because, I mean, losing by eight to a divisional opponent on the road in New York, like, not that. George Pickens drop it.
Starting point is 00:40:35 Like, one went right through his hands. A couple fumbles that Dallas couldn't pick up. The Giants deserve to win that game. They dominated that game. But I don't have wild thoughts on, like, that Dallas is now a last place team. Yeah. M. Godoso, another super chat. Cam Ward has a lot of Justin Fields discuss.
Starting point is 00:40:57 Well, just holding the ball. Trigger shot. Yeah. Yeah. It doesn't even have to be Justin Fields. I mean. But, you know, understandable. Get to that conclusion.
Starting point is 00:41:07 I mean, he's not this, but like, it's just crazy that Saul is in this position again because yesterday was a Zach Wilson game. He's not Zach Wilson, but yesterday was a drop back. I don't want to throw that. Now I'm just kind of going to run around backwards and sideways and throw it out of bounds or pick up a yaw. Like, that's, that was what Zach just did every game for as long as he played. And I mean, he dirt, he dirted a screen. It was like, When I saw that, I was like, oh, my God, Cam Ward is just not, you know, feeling it right now. Like, he's not playing with any rhythm, timing. To him to throw a screen right into the ground.
Starting point is 00:41:48 Yeah. Oh, Matthew in the chat saying Tyler Owens, the UDFA player who had the insane special teams rep for the commanders. Yes. Like, that was a UDFA stand out there, which was indeed crazy. That's a really good call, not draft. It is a good call out. Yeah. That is a good call out there.
Starting point is 00:42:10 Zander said, gave us a $10 super chat, said, you all see Skyla Gil Howard yesterday and in the preseason six-round steel. Also, Blake Miller was solid. We talked about that a little bit earlier. Obviously, Connor touched on that right there. Skylar Gil Howard has been awesome to see. And then Axel Ron, this is the last one for $5. said Connor did Bull's defense also get beat by tight ends in the middle of the field this consistently when he was with the Jets? I would probably say yes
Starting point is 00:42:37 because it felt like tight ends have eaten the Jets alive for the entire playoff drought. So, yeah, I would think so. Yeah, I would think so. I'm guessing this person is talking about it from a Buck's perspective. Yeah, I mean, Gaseki,
Starting point is 00:42:57 what the hell was that? I mean, it's wild when you go back and look at that game, we're like, oh, Jamar Chase must have a huge day, right? He did not at all. And actually, it's funny, the cornerback spot was the spot that we were the most worried about with the Buccaneers. And corners were actually okay. Right. Yesterday.
Starting point is 00:43:20 The D-line was bad and Mayfield was a disaster. Very bad. But week to week league, as they say. That's right. Week one lies a lot to week league. you guys appreciate it and uh hey we'll see you guys on monday for the next episode 3 p.m. Eastern time. See you guys at.
