Starting point is 00:00:00 hi guys and welcome back to this week's nip tuck and not giving a fuck and today we have got an amazing very formal actually very factual actual yeah helpful structure insightful we say yeah we've got structure um well we plan to have structure so today we're going to educate you hopefully on everything skincare so i know the basics i know what i need to know and actually my skin at the minute ash it's unreal it's unreal really fucking good at the minute and i will glowing and i will discuss that um but ash obviously if you're listeners you know this if you follow her she knows her shit so she's gonna lead a lot of this whereas i know my shit about narcissists and like failed relationships this is where you need us this is where you need
Starting point is 00:00:54 us we've all got our niche yeah exactly ash is going to help us i know some of it we're going to go through it we're going to give you some tips on the main things you need in skincare guys i'm so excited to say that this week my favorite online skincare shop skinfluential is sponsoring us that means that you can get a cheeky discount i've been shopping with skinfluential for years now. They're a really friendly, small, all-female team, and they stock all of my favorite brands like Albus and Flora. It's got Medicaid, Heliocare, Olaplex, loads and loads more. But the main reason I love it is because you can get the really strong prescription products from there. You can get them super fast and super easy. So you don't need to go into a clinic for
Starting point is 00:01:48 a consultation with a doctor, you send an online request and then one of their team members will give you a call back. So in this week's episode, I'll be sharing my skincare tips and tricks with you. I'll talk about most of the brands that they stock on the website. And as you guys probably already know, the prescription products are a lot more potent than the over-counter products. That means that they've got active ingredients which are stronger and they're backed by scientific evidence which can actually change your skin on a cellular level. Now because these products are much more potent and they're research backed they are more expensive. However as I mentioned before we have got a discount code. So Skinfluential are offering a massive 20% off site-wide.
Starting point is 00:02:40 use the code NTNGAF20 for 20% off you can get in touch with them for a complimentary consultation on the website they'll give you skincare advice as well as access to a nurse practitioner if you need any of the medical grade products okay girls you don't want to miss this literally 20% off all of these top brands using the code NTNGAF20 at skinfluential.com. Now the code is actually only live until the 4th of May. So get going girls and fill those baskets. One last thing, we are also running a competition with Skinfluential. You can win £300 to spend on whatever you fancy on their amazing website so head over to our instagram at ntn gaf to find out more let's have a little we love a catch-up how are you lauren i'm embarrassed still why something
Starting point is 00:03:47 happened well this is good because we obviously are recording like when you will listen because of how things worked out with me having the baby etc etc us signing contracts blah blah blah blah you're listening now to about what eight weeks previous that freaks me out yeah it's crazy because where am i going to be in my life have i embarrassed myself and i'm going to be married people by that yeah i mean myself so it's okay i can tell you that by the time this goes out you'll be over i'll no longer be so you're okay you're in a safe space to share okay i'm gonna tell you what happened now so i went on the sunbed lauren oh god i covered my face lauren my body's fucked anyway
Starting point is 00:04:27 honestly like my face I'm fine I'm gonna save that I do not put it in the sun like the lady off Benidorm yeah but the body is Benidorm like I've done it it's too late
Starting point is 00:04:36 that is you agree with me I ain't coming back it's not the skin is stretched yeah but then why are you making it worse because at least I'll be brown
Starting point is 00:04:42 so anyway brown I'm going on holiday aren't I so I thought I needed a couple of sunbeds so I cover my face I literally cover it with my joggers off
Starting point is 00:04:49 I wrap it round my head I'm not listening right now anyway I'm on there right and obviously nude and obviously my eyelids as well oh my god can i just say a girl when i went to all states said she caught genital warts off her sunbed so i will never put my bare ass on a sunbed great well i've probably got them then well i've probably
Starting point is 00:05:05 given them worse than they've given to me so anyway um i wrap my head thing around my head and i cover them i have my hands over my eyes as well as an extra protection for my eyelids right anyway so imagine me lying there naked i can't see it's not like on the summer where you quickly open your eyes so um i got really really hot so i kind of just like lifted it a touch How many minutes were you doing? 12. Lauren Harris. Listen, I've got 15 years of carrot oil.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Six ain't doing nothing to me. So I pushed it out. Oh, look at them sharks. Fucking hell, you losers. So I opened it. 12 minutes. So I opened it anyway. Popped my head out.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Got a breather. Still hands covered, hands over eyes. Stand up or lie down? Lie down. As I go to close it so it's still open and I've still got the joggers over my face and my eyes, the door opened. and a man went
Starting point is 00:05:52 oh it's not in this one and I'm naked no but I couldn't see with my bush my bush right so this is the only thing that is really
Starting point is 00:06:01 she showed it me last week yeah and I've not sorted it out because it will have been worse it will have been right so I just keep thinking and my eyes are covered I don't know who it was I don't know if he's left the room yet
Starting point is 00:06:09 because I've got my well that's good joggers wrapped around that your eyes were covered my eyes were covered so he's opened it do we know who it is I've no idea
Starting point is 00:06:15 I tried to look on the list you know the signing in list but I didn't recognise names he's opened it he's seen me lying there with this bush at least he doesn't know like you will have had a bag over your head basically he doesn't know who you are if he didn't if he only knows if i didn't have the bush honestly i'm quite like body i'm not arse i think i've got an all right body i literally i don't care if someone
Starting point is 00:06:34 sees me naked it was the bush and honestly it was so long that's when you know like how do you go to the toilet with that i literally would feel it's been itchy embarrassed at myself so i've been But you can't live like that. No, right. So I've been thinking... You can't, can you, Charlie? No, I've been thinking about this. It needs to stop.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Right. I'm going to tell you what I've been thinking about pubic hair. I've had like a serious thought about it. And I've been thinking about, you can tell what a stage a woman is at sexually by her pubic hair. Let me tell you the phases. Okay. So really hairy fanny like mine,
Starting point is 00:07:05 nothing's going on. Absolutely nothing. Okay. Rash, really rashy and sore. New relationship. New relationship. She's having to shave it every couple of days and it's itching
Starting point is 00:07:15 and it's rashy really perfectly smooth she knows it's been coming she has sex every probably two weeks with one guy and she prepares for it she lets it grow out
Starting point is 00:07:23 and shaves it the night before so if it's like a baby's bum she's having sex but not regularly if it's a shaving rash she's having pure new relationship sex yeah
Starting point is 00:07:31 and if it's a bush she ain't getting any which I haven't but then do you know like when we did that I am going to sort it it's just I'm going to Mexico
Starting point is 00:07:38 so I'll sort it like tonight the best thing to do like we said on our holiday episode though is shave the day you get there so this is why i haven't so yesterday i had to hack at it a bit and no lauren that was weeks past but listen to and then when i get there i'm gonna fully shave it and
Starting point is 00:07:53 then i'll keep on top of it when we said about the blackout episode like a few girls did say that they hadn't shaved their vagina and then they that you're blackout if you have sex with a bush like i have um then you know you've really blacked out like i've got friends that purposely don't shave so they cannot wear big knickers but then you end up doing it anyway with a hairy and mom knickers yeah and it happens and the other thing i've got a friend who was seeing when i say older like early 40s maybe not old old and he was like well yeah he was like i like a hairy vagina and no but listen i think it's that age group he said why would you want a vagina that looks like it's no like a child it's it's i disagree i think it's fucked that he's thinking
Starting point is 00:08:37 that no i don't i get it if you think about porn back then anyway so his thing was his thing basically was look i like a woman who doesn't feel like she needs to be like this is she's a woman like she's confident she's that fit that she can have a bush anyway my mate grew the bush for ages and every time like i saw her i was like that's fucking wrong and now i've got one for nobody just no me but by the way my bush is going and i won't have one again i have to have mine like a good good neck yeah
Starting point is 00:09:03 because otherwise I feel disgusting I don't feel great at the minute yeah but like it's all about like you know some days you don't want to
Starting point is 00:09:11 like even brush your hair or put makeup on but when you do it makes you feel better I fully agree and it's not something I'm usually doing however just remember
Starting point is 00:09:18 I've just had an operation I've been doing on your eyes so shut the fuck up and it was cosmetic she's like making out like come on Leave me alone
Starting point is 00:09:30 I've just had an operation Right well anyway Just wait Because there'll be no pubes in Mexico Blah blah blah blah blah Something really bad happened to me this week Go on Kylie Jenner stole my baby name
Starting point is 00:09:45 Right so Ashley put in the group chat In our podcast group chat That she'd stole the baby name So I was like oh my god that's awful And then I went onto the Daily Mail And read that it was Wolf And I thought oh she's joking No
Starting point is 00:09:56 And she's just telling me she's not Now I've got no problem with the name Wolf whatever but it is not in a million years a name I thought I would ever if I called my kid that you'd be like
Starting point is 00:10:05 Ernie Tramp Ed picked it well done Edward and it's his middle name but it's just not you Wolf I can't change it I'm not saying you should
Starting point is 00:10:14 I'm not saying I've got a problem with it anyway tell us how you felt like how was that what happened I was in a really bad mood and I was like oh my god you were
Starting point is 00:10:21 I can't well no I was like let's change the name and then Ed was like we can't change the name because he's already bought a personalised number plate for him
Starting point is 00:10:30 what a wanker what a wanker thing to do I know and wow it's like I think he's bought like art and stuff like that
Starting point is 00:10:37 yeah yeah yeah and he was like no we're not changing the name I don't give a fuck and I was like yeah but oh my god like it's Kylie Jenner's
Starting point is 00:10:44 baby name it's spitting cringey yeah it's really cringe but hey hey here is what it is here we are slag me off if you want I don't really give a fuck
Starting point is 00:10:51 I know what it's gonna be she wants to be Kylie Jenner I do don't I well I do so whatever do you know what it's one of those things when i had fear there was another fear like a couple of months before and my i don't know that
Starting point is 00:11:02 really yeah friends of friends and they told me my friend was like look i need to tell you something this couple that i that it well we live are having a fear and she's due before you and i'm going to be honest for a moment i wanted an early birth not that premature like maybe four weeks because if it off three because then i was kind of hoping that i'd get in there first anyway i didn't and i thought Thea was gonna be like a mega at one point but it's been fine she's still quite unusual it is like unusual Saskia is Saskia's beautiful I'd be pissed off if someone else used the name Saskia because it's quite like it's a lovely name yeah I wish I'd called Thea Theodora not just Thea do you want to know my other girl's name I'm gonna say it now because do you know what fuck it then
Starting point is 00:11:45 I've said it and then if anyone uses it yeah I'm like oh my god I think I know which one it is Dasher. Prancer and Dasher. No. No? Yeah, Dasher. Dasher. I think your child could absolutely take that.
Starting point is 00:11:59 And also, I was going to call this one, if it was a girl, Honeymoon. So, I love the name Honey. I love that name. I still love that name, so I don't want you... Oh, you fuckers. Yeah, Honeymoon. Well, it's gone now. Honey would be my next girl name.
Starting point is 00:12:11 I swear down, always has been. Because we made the baby on the Honeymoon. Yeah, that's disgusting. Why? I made Thea on the Honeymoon. I didn't call her Thailand. like no like thailand i could have called it thailand no she was conceived in thailand and i know the sex that made her pregnant me pregnant i remember it was it from behind because everyone
Starting point is 00:12:31 says that's like the water really painful after and i know it was that exact one i worked it out why was it painful i got stomachache after oh because you like if it was the egg was i don't know but i got stomachache after i was like oh my god that really hurt my stomach and then sometimes like you bleed afterwards as well don't you bleeding what's it called implant yeah do you remember when i did yeah yeah yeah and i messaged you too and it was like brown yeah and it was just implantation yeah i mean where's this coming nowhere let's talk about skincare right okay here we go okay guys skincare ingredients get your pen and pad here we go sanitary towel okay so i'm going to run through the main ingredients buzzwords that you will hear a lot and then i'm going to
Starting point is 00:13:19 tell you what they're for and what they do vitamin c glow if you want a glow you need to use vitamin c it's great for dull skin any hormonal skin changes like melasma then get on the vitamin c you want an active vitamin c the vitamin c which i have in my cupboard is the sunday riley ceo and i also have the abagi which i know you enjoy as well abagi is one of my favorites still classic abagi yes classic and it comes in 5 10 and 15 percent obviously we went straight for the 15 absolutely we don't mess around and you do get a bit of a tingle with it also things to look for in a vitamin c always get a vitamin c in a dark colored bottle because it means then that the light won't change the formulation of the can i tell you something about that vitamin c yeah i
Starting point is 00:14:11 can't ever use it again it smells weird yeah so when i was early pregnancy really really early pregnancy i used to use it and you know when you get that morning sickness if i even smell that now i want to vomit because it reminds me of being pregnant but it's amazing and i love it keep it in the fridge too i've also got this little thing called a beauty cooler um on my glam station and i just put all of my serums in there especially those that i use in the morning because it totally calms your skin down and closes your pores so that when you apply your makeup you're not getting dirty pores okay next one hyaluronic acid plump plump plump it doesn't actually feel that nice when it's going on no so it's not one where you feel like you put
Starting point is 00:14:52 it on and you think oh my skin is being you don't feel like that you feel like sticky not nice yeah unpleasant unpleasant i like it at night for that reason but this is the thing that i'm going to teach you guys so the whole concept of a bargy came from the fact that there was not a moisturizer in the range okay is that because our skin should do it itself if you're on the right skin should moisturize itself if it's doing the right thing exactly that lauren so instead of like whacking on a thick layer of la mer or yeah like false moisture kind of thing exactly then you want to be using acids to moisturize your skin in the long run what hyaluronic acid would you recommend i like the drum caliphate one right okay it's really nice um but there's a lot of
Starting point is 00:15:37 really good ones on the market now they didn't used to be also if you want a budget one the la roche-posay one is very good yeah yeah i can second that yeah and the other one which is good is the medicaid one is it good that really good okay salicylic acid is four spots yes i know that very drying what is the the toner that we that i use pixi no no no stop stop the abagi one that oh my god cleanser i'm going to talk about that okay i love that they have a range abaji so when we talk about abaji i'm just going to give a brief overview on this there's abaji and there's zedo okay so abaji is the og i i don't not like it but for me mix between both do you for me i prefer the original so when you actually break it down and realize that abaji was there first
Starting point is 00:16:30 and the professors and abaji actually created that range and it's been formulated over years and years and years it was first introduced to housewives in beverly hills that wanted like perfect skin i've been to his office for a facial in la actually it's amazing then he sold the brand but under zeddo so zeddo's got nothing to do with abaji they just marketed it through that and they i find that their range has got too many products in it now yeah it's confusing yeah exactly whereas the abagi is really clinical not fancy i really like it i just think it does the job but if you go on the new derm range while you do it for like 12 weeks it's intense like so intense and you know what it doesn't work on some people but it really works on some doesn't work
Starting point is 00:17:21 on others just to pick the products you like out and i would only ever use a program as such in winter yes that is no guys you shouldn't be getting your retinol out in summer you shouldn't there is no point anything like that so salicylic cleansiderm range love that they've got the face wash they've got the pumpy thing i use the pumpy thing it's like a toner poor therapy it stinks out it is it stinks a little breath away yes but it really closes all your pores up and you feel like a clean like no other yeah what about budget pixie i think that just like strips your skin what do you think as a budget kind of salicylic that's good like i like to put it on a cotton pad and tone with it and then you feel that i honestly think get the poor therapy yeah i really rate
Starting point is 00:18:07 that because i've got a poor therapy in my cupboard that i've had for a year yes and a little bit goes such a long way i actually only put it on my pori areas girls think of it like the abagi pads at the zeddo pads sorry that you get by the way top tip cut them on in half i used to use the front of one in the morning the other side in the be hygienic but it's like that but they're not pre-loaded yeah so one part of that way longer okay next one lactic acid i don't actually know that much about lactic acid but i know about it when it builds up in your muscles when you're at the gym it's for tightening and brightening that's that's what lactic acid is for i don't do that ceramides i don't know too much about ceramides but they're for hydration and protection from
Starting point is 00:18:55 environmental damage my favorite ingredient i know what you're gonna say does it start with an n yeah i'm not gonna try and say it nyanosamide nyanosamide so with a lisp my favorite nyanosamide is from glow what's it called glow recipe the pink one yeah it is unbelievable i do a facial on my clients as well um whereby i put the niacinamide inside a micro needle and it can reduce the pigments yeah it's you know um again a little bit like other products it doesn't feel great when you put it on it doesn't it feels the same as hyaluronic yeah not clean however i don't think makeup goes on it nicely it doesn't know it should not be a night product 100 but or daytime when you're not wearing makeup all my girls who message me and they're like am i ready
Starting point is 00:19:44 for what retinol retinol retinol just because you've heard an influencer using retinol doesn't mean you need to use that to be all and end all it literally isn't it's good but you've got to prepare if you're after 25 though yeah yeah yeah you shouldn't be using it before 25 no so i honestly you think if you're under do you know what niacinamide is really good for on me when you've had a spot and the spot is gone but you've still got a red mark yes it's really good i've i have struggled with that anyway pigmentation um but i love it for that reducing redness so if you're going on a night out the next day whack it all on whack it on it's so good so the glow recipe one um for that and the bottles are so cute with the glow recipe stuff so it looks really nice
Starting point is 00:20:26 on your counter vitamin e is for don't use that anti-inflammatory i don't use vitamin e either i only use vitamin a um which is a retinoid yeah so the strongest retinoid like on steroids is tretinoin yeah i've had that before wow wow dangerous like literally dangerous there was prescription only some of my clients were saying that in lock the first lockdown they were being encouraged by a provider to do that have you ever used the advanced night repair so every night right let me tell you about that yes someone told me to do it i bought that product and you're meant to use like a retinol you're meant to use advanced it is yeah it's strong so you're meant to use it like sparingly like a retinol i was told to use it for eight pumps in the morning or something
Starting point is 00:21:16 like this yeah for four days and i could do it at home peel it hurts i didn't do it because i had got myself a boyfriend overseas and i was facetiming all the time so i couldn't it literally hurts so much right okay so um acids we're going to talk about acids now so we've already talked about hyaluronic and salicylic so the one that you were talking about is glycolic which is the pixi one so what's the difference between glycolic and um salicylic okay so for the glycolic is for all skin types okay now i is it a little less harsh yes right i have a favorite glycolic and it's the sunday riley one yeah and it's called good genes oh yeah i think uses that as well have you ever used it no i use ufo though at night the oil this is completely different so this
Starting point is 00:22:06 glycolic basically you want to remove any kind of manual exfoliation out of yeah do not be scrubbing that's old school and we don't do it we're not using saint ives we're not using that apricot scrub but as well the zeddo exfoliating polish i have found that some of my clients get addicted to that because it does give you a next level of clean you know when you're like oh after you've cleaned but no manual exfoliation it's only gonna antagonize your skin it's gonna make your pores It's causing trauma. It's not necessary. What you want to do is get rid of any dead skin cells and bacteria with an acid.
Starting point is 00:22:43 So glycolic, Sunday Riley Good genes. There's also the Pixi one and the, is it REN? R-E-N? I've got that. I don't use it very much. No, I don't either. But people that use it absolutely love it. Also, one that you love is the ferulic acid.
Starting point is 00:23:00 What's that? C-ferulic. You've got it. Yes, I have. I don't know what it is, but I like it. So it's a product which enhances your retinol use. Okay. So if you're using a retinol, then use that one.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Anything that fights free radicals. So free radicals are what cause aging. Yes, they're the things that fly around in the environment, yeah? Yeah. Well, in your skin. So they break down cells and cause aging. So a vitamin C and the ferulic will stop free radicals. So vitamin C...
Starting point is 00:23:32 I think free radicals sounds like some sort of like group of protesters. I feel like that's what they are on your skin. You need to think about them like that in your skin. So vitamin C literally just slows down the aging process. And brightens and gets rid of discoloration. One thing that we've not talked about is SPF. Okay. I am an absolute convert to SPF.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Right. Only in the last year. Yeah, in the last year. Let me tell you. Now, I didn't listen to anybody. So don't listen if you don't want and look like a fucking handbag like me. i'm gonna tell you seriously girls now these are more to the younger girls that have got chance you've still got a chance but there's some good ones on the market now so i'd never wore sun cream
Starting point is 00:24:11 and i mean never i used to burn to the point of bright red i used to cane the sunbed i do now a bit but i used to smash it and my skin was always tanned but let me tell you when i got into my late 20s 30s that's when the damage began to show it didn't show until then so i was like so what i'm tanned and actually you'd be like you shouldn't get anything that's done anyway and then all of a and i started getting like age spots dark patches my skin was looking shit and i have had to fully start again and now i will not leave the house without spf i put a towel over my face if i'm sunbathing my face does not go in the sun even in winter you need to wear spf my favorite is how do you pronounce it mesoesthetic mesoesthetic now i've had the um cosmo lampio which is so
Starting point is 00:24:53 intense i told you to get it years ago yeah it's the best thing i've ever done i'm gonna be honest it's pricey i spent like a grand on it but i swear to you it's the best thing and it is reversed the majority of damage i did in my 20s if you use your spf girls i'm so serious please listen to me and don't ruin your skin because now i am fighting a battle and it's too late and i'm fighting against it so if you are young and listening take my advice number one stay away from fuckboys number two where spf now with an spf you want to look for a broad spectrum one so the one that we just discussed the mesoacetic the 130i like we're tinting it exactly and it's like it covers all different light spectrums because they say that even the blue light off your tv and phone
Starting point is 00:25:39 so really you should be having a minimum of factor 50 plus yeah and it has to be 50 plus okay anything less than 50 and you're not really going to be covered for that much even in winter also you need to make sure that you are reapplying the product yeah i think it's worth spending a bit of money here because yeah if you get say a nivia kids spf 50 do you know what you know they're probably great yeah and it's really yeah it'll be really good for sensitivity but is it going to be the best for your pores and for the rest of it probably not is it going to sit the best under your makeup probably not so spend a little bit more get a really good one that's lovely under your makeup that is for that kind of thing later on in the episode i've run through like my favorite
Starting point is 00:26:25 spfs i will talk to you about budget and spend and which ones so one of the things ash that i think is pretty important and it's something that i've only just learned because you see these names thrown around everywhere the difference between aha and bha so shall we just quickly explain what they are okay so aha works on the surface level to remove layers of dead skin cells so on the surface of your skin your any dead cells it's going to get rid of that however bha goes deeper it goes right into your pore and de-gunks it so basically gets every bit of shit out your pore which is what you want because that's what stretches your pores and gives you open pores so you want to kind of use a bit of both a bit of either one depending on what you actually want
Starting point is 00:27:09 however the bha is better for acne prone skin because it's going to go really deep and it's going to pull out any infection anything anything disgusting in there it's also anti-inflammatory um and it stimulates collagen so one of the examples of a bha is salicylic acid yeah yeah now aha it can make you a little bit photosensitive so if you're going in the sun you would avoid it again produces collagen but it just gets rid of your your immediate layer of dead skin yeah and that is glycolic lactic citric and mandelic okay so they are two different things so when you are looking for them know the difference before you decide what toners and stuff you're getting right skincare routine this is the best order to apply products now when i'm getting ready
Starting point is 00:27:57 in the morning or at night i like to lay in my products and give them a good few minutes to soak in in between so i'll do like one layer of a serum then i'll brush my teeth for three minutes yeah and then you'll get dressed you start doing bits and bits like that because otherwise it piles on top of each other it's not good okay i'm gonna run through really quickly now morning cleanser then toner i personally don't use a toner in the morning do you i use a really light one and i don't use it particularly for exfoliating that's what i use the rose yeah A rose fresh one. And I use it just to clean any bits off my skin.
Starting point is 00:28:36 I don't use it to actually affect it. No, that makes sense. Okay, an antioxidant serum, any spot treatments. Personally, I wouldn't put spot treatments on in the morning because I think that they make you photosensitive. Eye creams, a light face oil, a heavier face oil, and then a sunscreen. Sunscreen always lasts.
Starting point is 00:28:59 Yeah, sunscreen always lasts. i don't put oils on my face in the morning either do you it depends on your skin type doesn't it if i do that then really mine doesn't feel good i don't know what kind of oil are we talking i put the sunday riley oil on in the morning juno is really nice in the morning oh is it yeah i honestly i just love that maybe i'm thinking more of a heavy oil when i think of oil yeah exactly and also the resume oil in the morning i use that and it just i think an oil hydrates for longer than a moisturizer more continually but you need to try it out with makeup because different type oils might not sit the right type of eye cream in the morning as well because if you put an eye
Starting point is 00:29:41 cream on that's too heavy in the morning your concealer always slides around not good okay nighttime routine makeup remover then a cleanser yeah personally i'd just do a double cleanse i would make up remove my eyes yes yes i don't wear eye makeup well i don't but if i've been out yeah yeah um an exfoliator or a clay mask we don't do manual exfoliation a hydrating mist or toner and acid treatments serums and essences spot treatments hydrating serum eye face oil night cream wow that's so much basically we're looking at the way you're supposed to use it i disagree with all i think there's way too much in there and there's just too much going on i i open my cupboard like i'm not gonna lie people send me messages all the time and they're like can you
Starting point is 00:30:29 send me your skincare routine it changes it does and do you know what girls this is where the education piece comes in it's about looking in the mirror yeah knowing what your skin needs on that day ingredient wise and then knowing what to put on not just seeing on sally joe's instagram with a hundred thousand followers that she's used retinol yeah so you need to use retinol this is something that um i find i don't want to say irritating yeah but when people are like what exactly do you use it it's not helpful because then i have to send a massive paragraph saying i use this however like me and ashley have different skin types we don't use look you just heard we don't use the same stuff we don't have the same routine the face peel i had would
Starting point is 00:31:15 have been pointless but we'd have the same products in our cupboard yeah and we know the education so then I know like you say you look in the mirror and you think you know what I don't need this today but I do need that yeah so for example you can combine the the ingredients together which are in your cupboard to get what you need exactly so I would get really specific ingredients and then maybe even label them yourself I find that really helpful yeah when I do that so sometimes i'll write on like um a post-it note one two and three yeah for this week and i will try and use something for a full week and then switch on if i need to um so here we'll run through quickly hyaluronic acid and retinol mixed together goes well okay you shouldn't
Starting point is 00:32:01 mix some shit with retinol yes vitamin c and retinol awful burn vitamin a as in retinoids and antioxidants are good for anti-aging um niacinamide mixes really well with pretty much anything so i think hopefully that you want all rounder products to start with don't go out and buy everything straight away because there's no point and you know like we said before about don't trust influencers with this skincare stuff yeah it's fun to learn about new things but honestly doesn't mean it's going to be right for you read the reviews online on different platforms yeah because i know that some websites only have like five star reviews and don't just see the person's skin and think their skin is amazing therefore if i use new device i get that skin
Starting point is 00:32:53 i didn't want to say the name that's i'm not against it i've never tried it manual yeah i'm not against it whatever if it works and also like why is it like what 200 quid um but anyway sorry anyone anyway whatever i just think don't assume that you're going to get the results from the same product so skincare actually takes a while it does it does it's not something that happens straight where you've got to invest it's got to be like my skin how long mate how long has it taken to get right now yeah a year and that's more including that's changing my pattern changing my ways using spf um having this massive fucking peel that was down tight like all these things exactly so some ingredients can take 12 weeks to work so again with things like those
Starting point is 00:33:37 glossy boxes like i get the concept of try something out but if you're using for example a benzoyl peroxide that takes 12 weeks to work like a 10 ml sample is not going to get you very far so um and you can't stop swapping and changing you need to work out what's right for example retinols to actually see the full cell turnover and what it does 8 to 12 weeks wow uh vitamin c three weeks salicylic acid works in a few hours um hyaluronic acid works in a few minutes which is amazing um and ahas work right away straight away because they're going in there and what do ahas do ashley exfoliate the layer the top layer of your skin instead of grainy scrubs now we're going to talk about something which we get a lot of messages about and girls don't let it get you
Starting point is 00:34:28 down acne oh it's awful it's actually debilitating yeah do you remember when we used to go out when i was like what were we like 23 i really struggled with my skin can you remember i need to pick it but we all know like oh my god we didn't know my advice now honestly to girls would be if you've tried stuff and it's not worked go and see a professional spend your money on that absolutely agree go to a dermatologist trust them use somebody that you've that you've researched yeah trust them put your skin in their hands for a little bit do everything they say and follow the rules properly because they are experts if you had tonsillitis yeah an infection or whatever you would go to the doctor if you broke your leg you would go to a and e this is your skin go to a skin
Starting point is 00:35:18 professional we've spoken about this before about how we used to get clients in and they were like oh you know to boost my confidence i really just need massive lips or lips or whatever and they'd be like cake to makeup bless them and hiding behind all this mass yeah and their skin was not good and it's like just get to the root yes first yeah and honestly i think if you invest in your skin then for example like i can literally just you know might not look great but in my i feel good and i can just put a hairbrush through my hair brush my teeth and be out the door in 10 i agree i really really really agree with that and i do think that skin is so important and if it's getting you down don't just sit there trying loads of products online go and see somebody pay
Starting point is 00:36:04 the money that you're paying on all these shite products and make yourself feel better because if you wait too long you'll start to get scarring and stuff as well exactly now these things are triggers of acne and bad skin your phone clean your phone this is this is an issue with me i get a dental wipe every day i agree that's an issue because i'm always on it as well yeah clean your phone vitamin d deficiency you definitely do uh well actually you've seen my bush i've got a vitamin d deficiency however quick one ash yeah supplements do you would you suggest rather than i've got a d and k yeah that i take i'll post it um it's a liquid one it's a new one and it's vitamin d and k combined and it's a drop and it's unreal right yeah and you know what your energy
Starting point is 00:36:51 rockets yes as soon as you start taking it in the sun isn't it probiotics yeah i don't do that i've told you to do that yeah i did when i was here octoback live cultures simprove honestly you're right i'm not good at that shower water is so bad for you start saying anything about this alkaline fucking tap oh my god i've got a beauty tap go on yeah it's amazing a beauty so you know what the alkaline water if i switch it to beauty mode it's just my my what's it called my micella i can't say my clear yeah it's just that and it literally removes your makeup just comes out of the tap it's so good um coffee really bad for acne i am a coffee obsessor it throws your skin's ph off i can see that it's very dehydrating um lack of sleep weakens your immune system it's
Starting point is 00:37:45 not good for anything fit foundation clogs pores skipping your toner means that you're not rebalancing your skin so not taking your makeup off properly is disgusting exactly sugar produces excess oils changing your beauty products frequently so even like foundations oil-based non-oil-based it throws your skin's ph off because you completely another product that you are applying every single day um your makeup brushes my oh shit i need to wash mine tonight before i go oh my god i forgot that's a big job i put my beauty blenders in the washing machine oh really they come out gorgeous okay some dental antibacterial i can't believe i forgot to wash my brushes before i go away what do you use to wash your brushes um whatever i've got just alcohol
Starting point is 00:38:36 no are you baby shampoo yeah like baby shampoo i think you know that i've got the body baby alcohol because really yeah it will kill the bacteria right okay and it's a bottle of vodka it's better for your brushes um okay and then any sunscreens that contain the ingredient avobenzone this is why i just said before invest in a good one don't just use your kids spf 50 plus because it's high ash is going to tell you the ones that she likes and seriously you need a good spf because they clog the fucking fuck out of your pores hormones because we're women our skin can be amazing at some points of the month in early pregnancy girls your skin will be horrific i feel it's like it's really mean as well because i think like the thing about being a woman right
Starting point is 00:39:24 if you don't want a child you have to go on some form of contraception or not have sex and i think that's really mean because each contraception you go on has got its own negatives but it's masking problems being on contraception yeah girls if you are on contraception what are you meant to do ash natural cycles or flow really 100 get the mind my flow is bang on like get the fuck off contraception i know i'm not on anything these fuck i say this i'm laughing i'm laughing now i'm not anything waits on your position won't be funny then will it no honestly like we'll do a whole episode on hormones and contraception because girls it's really archaic now that we're pumping our bodies with shite i agree um read the book by jolene brighton which is called
Starting point is 00:40:09 beyond the pill yes that is yeah you'd be shocked it's amazing we've got to do something hormones um okay so different parts of the monthly cycle um different things happen so day 7 to 16 of your cycle you're going to release a lot of estrogen so that stimulates collagen elastin hyaluronic i can never say acid um so it gets your skin quite plump i know but sexy i've got excess estrogen at the minute because i'm pregnant and that's why i've got loads of little broken veins oh really i've got loads of broken veins at the minute i had them zapped and they've not gone um then you will produce progesterone and that's day 17 to 24 and that activates your oil glands so your skin can swell so it compresses your pores but then you get an oil build-up so you might feel a bit
Starting point is 00:40:54 more oily therefore you're going to be using more of your you're eating you fat bitch swallow that mouthful you're going to get you're going to need to use more of your acids yeah and then testosterone get that day 25 to 28 so you get even more sebum so again like you need to go in your cupboard even more breakouts yeah you look at your month and you think this is where i'm at this is what i need today or these few days exactly and that's why it's good having an app on your phone where you can track that because it'll say like today you're feeling moody because yeah today your skin is shit because and you're like ah right i get it now now going to see people where to spend money okay so i go for two different types of facials so i have one with a therapist once a month every
Starting point is 00:41:43 four weeks and she will have a proper look at my skin and she'll do some extractions for me which by the way guys try not to do at home if you can she'll also keep me on track and be like right you're using too much of this you're not using enough of this and then on top of that every four weeks i also have in between lasers peels radio frequency micro needling which are appointments that are like fly in fly out get in it hurts get out the other facial is like a this feels nice and i need to lie down and close my eyes my sex life so the bespoke facial that i go for is 90 minutes of relaxation but she'll also do the extraction and everything right okay running through my favorite products now gonna list them all off budget cleansers cera v hydrating foaming
Starting point is 00:42:37 or salicylic moisturizers cera v moisturizer wellader skin food nivia cream only get the German blue pot one because it's got less chemicals in it. And it supposedly is a dupe of the La Mer one. Active ingredients, the Inkey List, their stuff is meant to be amazing. So their Niacinamide and their retinols. La Roche-Posay serums, vitamin C and their retinol serum. Also, they have a product called Citoplast, which I'll go on to talk a bit more about in a second. Inkey List caffeine eye cream is amazing on a budget and the la roche-posay spf and the helio care spf are both on a budget i think you can get them for under 15 pounds they're both factor 50 plus and they will do the job really well now these are my skincare saviors so forget the budget i'm gonna
Starting point is 00:43:32 run through these and these are ones that i have in my cupboard and they get replanned all the time I'm like Mrs. Hinch with fucking Narnia, but with skincare. Okay. Cleansers. La Mer Foaming Cleanser. I love this. It's old, but gold and it gets everything off. It feels clean after I've used it. The Obagi Vitamin C Cleanser. It's a pink gel. It smells amazing. And I also use it as shower gel. The ZO Exfoliating Cleanser is lovely too. They're not actually going to break the bank too much so i'll always do a double cleanse and i like to have the three of those in my cupboard for depending on where my skin's at sunday riley serums absolutely love them there are a few of them honestly i've got them all and i use them for different points in the day
Starting point is 00:44:21 and different stages at where my skin's at i use ufo ceo luna ufo juno they are the four serums that they have which i have and they're amazing now they also do this thing where it's called the am and pm box and you can try out all of their stuff for like i think it'll last you about four to six weeks and it's about 70 80 pounds which is that's really good it's long enough to give it a good girl exactly they also do a moisturizer called the tidal cream so lauren if you use the ufo or the lunar you put the tidal cream on and on top of the oil and it like the next day you wake up your skin so the ufo it's um clearing it's clearing as well but an oil but an oil so i was a bit like oh my god i'm putting oil on it's gonna make me greasy and it didn't if anything i
Starting point is 00:45:11 actually felt a bit dry after it so i like the idea of putting the cream on as well yeah it's really nice now resume they are a little less known but they've been around for a very long time amazing on cue facial oil i put that on before my makeup and it's an all-rounder absolutely love it they also have a vitamin c cleanser in an orange bottle oh my gosh makes your skin feel so clean my husband loves that one too a marine peptide replenishing mask now that's a mask that you sleep in overnight oh i love stuff like that it's so nice it's a clear one you wake up it doesn't smell or anything and then you take it off and your skin's really plump and lovely one one one skin deep puff eye patches buy these before you go on holiday and you know when you're putting
Starting point is 00:45:57 your makeup on yeah just put them on yeah skin just soaks everything in them up yeah they are the they're life-changing so one one one skin deep puff eye patches a bargy cleanser we've just spoken about that the pumpy pumpy pore therapy that has to be prescribed i get my skin stuff um the prescription stuff off a website called skinfluential really handy and you will have a facetime with a nurse i've got a discount code for them on my um instagram i think it's ashley15 and you'll get a discount and then they literally post the stuff out if you're suitable to use it dennis grass pads life-changing but not legit used at the same time as other stuff no they are literally a facial in a pad really easy to use and you can try them out first i think
Starting point is 00:46:51 it's 18 pounds for five treatments and then you can invest in the larger box honey you will be doing so try them now eye cream how important is eye cream lauren so important so fucking important like start using eye cream right away also when you're applying your spf just be aware that you make sure that it is going under your eyes and also on your top eyelids as well yes your eyelids always also get a stick i use the albus and is it what's it called charlie albus and flora what's that i use the albus and flora lip balms and they are factor 30 plus oh okay i like that or i think you forget your lips don't you i've got a friend whose lips always blister in the sun i think it's one in for you yeah and honestly they are so lovely like you can't even tell that you've got
Starting point is 00:47:40 them on so albus and flora make sure that you're covering your eyes with sun cream zeddoe under eye brightener for night time growth factor zeddoe eye cream for daytime and the sunday riley auto correct for under makeup before a night out oh okay so there's three different eye creams that i have in my cupboard and i use them all now hype products products that sunny jim talks about on instagram what did you call her before sally sally joe sally joe let's call the bitch sally joe fucking lms why would you put that on your face body cream on your face like legit that even everyone raves about the collagen bomb no it clogs all of your pores now might be nice for when you're having a bath
Starting point is 00:48:30 yeah so I think the thing is there will be some people that have beautiful skin naturally and the skin's pretty regular they don't and they'll get away with it
Starting point is 00:48:38 maybe slightly more mature women that have got like the but our age group now that is that is we don't want we don't want open pores we've got to be careful
Starting point is 00:48:46 well like you said you only use cosmeceutical products exactly that's all I use cosmeceutical yeah this is a spa product I feel it's a spa product if you go for a spa facial
Starting point is 00:48:53 nice it can have your facial I hate facials by the way the ordinary ugh fucking awful Well, it's just a weird company. The whole Google, the whole thing's odd.
Starting point is 00:49:04 The man that killed himself and went on that rant. The whole thing's odd. It is odd. And it gave me cystic acne, which I had to pay a lot of money to fix. And I just thought it was shit. Yeah. So they're the hype products that we wouldn't bother using. Not just Elemis.
Starting point is 00:49:19 Any spa product for me. Yeah. If you can buy it in an overnight spa break getaway and it smells like flowers, it's not something I'm putting on my face. Yeah. Yeah, and if I go for a spa, don't go for a facial. I wouldn't, never. Because someone touching your skin that doesn't know your skin
Starting point is 00:49:33 is only going to fuck it up. I hate facials anyway, because I feel like, great, you're going to cleanse, tone and moisturise. I'll do that at home. I just find it odd. I don't like them. I don't like my face being rubbed. They're spa facials.
Starting point is 00:49:42 Yeah, that's what I mean, like spa facials. I'm just not into that. And I also don't understand how people book in for a certain facial, because one facial does not fit everyone. No, it doesn't. Now, okay, beautiful skin from within. Supplements. Okay.
Starting point is 00:49:56 Oh I thought you meant personality then It's a different podcast Get yourself on another podcast We're not interested in personality Now as Lauren said before Her skin on her body's fucked From going on the sun baths It's not that fucked
Starting point is 00:50:08 You said it Oh my god You're making me sound like a cow It's different when someone else says it Okay so look after your skin All over your body That's what supplements are going to do So also there's that
Starting point is 00:50:20 Skin cream Ameliorate Oh yes yes I use that That's really good yeah and if you've got what they call what they call
Starting point is 00:50:27 on the back of your arms there's a name for it the thing on the back what is it on the back of your arms and you've got the chicken spots it will get rid of it okay
Starting point is 00:50:34 what's it called papilla something it's called they call it chicken skin it says it on the actual tub I heard this is ameliorate
Starting point is 00:50:43 how do you say it ameliorate ameliorate skin transforming is it called transforming skin lotion yeah get on that girls
Starting point is 00:50:49 if you've got chicken eyes I heard it's JLo's favourite that's why I use it I bet she's not got chicken eyes and do you know what it does sting a bit the first few times you put it on yeah i use it it works it's actually just good for really hydrating yeah really hydrating now 80 of your aging is actually not genetic it's down to you so that's why you need to take good supplements and have a good diet smoking is
Starting point is 00:51:13 so so naughty for skin yeah i know um now healthy fats are really good for your skin so my diet has changed so much since i've been following divinia taylor okay do you follow her no okay so bad fats versus good fats so basically the whole concept of divinia is you're allowed to eat bread and butter oh okay which is great but it has to be organic sourdough oh okay i can do that bread not like yahoo this not like yeah um and it has to be grass-fed whole organic butter okay so like a block of butter okay so i've heard of this kind of stuff before to be fair when you do your cooking you only cook is it like paleo yeah basically um so good and bad fats so like for example don't use margarines canola oil which is in all of your oatly drinks do not use that that
Starting point is 00:52:10 is so bad for your skin can we just make a point to say that things we say in here aren't 100% true we're not doctors we just say what we think and i've probably said loads of stuff wrong i mean i think it's been working for us so far um good fats are like avocado butter um fish all of that good stuff so really don't think like oh my god i need to diet because then you'll end up looking emaciated emaciated do you know what i mean i've looked so many times in my life exactly and you can tell so avoid processed foods ready meals they're gonna fight all your free radicals dairy-free diet if you've got acne is always yes yes try that if you've always vitamin c you need to have a absorbent vitamin c in a liquid form i use the ultra i also use them improve skin
Starting point is 00:53:01 elasticity all over your body and as soon as i heard that i was like what was it 40 40 percent yeah after six weeks amazing maintaining a stable weight is really important yes this skin this again like my little rant then about sun uh sun care sun protection sorry if you are younger well any age don't fuck about with your weight i made the mistake of from about 18 i went to weight watchers tits tits ass arms arms i yo-yo dieted from the age of 18 till probably i had fear up down up down up down your collagen and my collagen and this is why i'm fucked and that's why i had to have an uplift on my breasts because they were big small big small it is so terribly bad for you you need a stable weight and don't so if that if your stable weight isn't as thin
Starting point is 00:53:47 as you'd like then so fucking be it let it be stable don't get yourself to a weight that you can't maintain unless you're jumping off the wagon all the time and getting chubby again when i look at celebrities who i'm like they look good for their age like like i said jlo erica jane um not one of them's a skinny they're not a bag of bones not one of them i'm not kim kardashian i know and i don't know if it's like society that's changed i prefer to be bigger but i now don't feel the need skinny used to be everything if you're skinny you've won now it is just not anymore and i think just stick to a weight that your body you can your lifestyle you want to look healthy and what you what you like to do if you know who's body is like the best that i think ronaldo's
Starting point is 00:54:28 girlfriend i don't even look at her she's got like the best body but she i do know who she she works oh my god gorgeous now collagen collagen collagen collagen collagen buzzword been talking about it for ages but whatever um types of collagens and one you need to look for in a collagen supplement there's three different types of collagen one two and three you want to make sure that you've got all three types of collagen within your diet or supplements wise now don't forget that supplements are just adding on to your diet some people do argue that supplements like there's no need for them if you're eating a balanced diet but the way in which i think of it is it's not gonna hurt me so why the fuck yeah take them um so you can add collagen
Starting point is 00:55:18 to your diet like i said before with healthy fats for example fish avocado eggs but you can also supplement it with say a drink or a tablet form or a powder the will powders one is really good so the one that you're going to see the results with quicker is going to be the bovine yes disgusting yeah absolutely disgusting i'm not talking about what it is you can google that um but when i had saskia to snap back and make sure that my everything your skin retracted at a good rate without getting stretch marks i had to take a really high percentage of bovine grass fed collagen and it has to be hydrolyzed so and it works it's gross and you feel like vomiting after you've done it but another one which is good is marine collagen so that's in the zany
Starting point is 00:56:11 skin fusion that we take and i really like it's so nice don't forget guys that if you take collagen in a liquid form it will absorb quicker yeah so that's what you want to look for in a collagen okay so there's loads of new stuff and loads more invasive treatments that i want to talk to you about so we are gonna have to save it for another episode unfortunately so i was gonna run through different types of facials different types of treatments stem cell use iv therapies oxygen therapies blah blah blah blah but we'll save it for another episode let's save that for another time so have we got a dilemma lauren we've got a dilemma and it's a fucking real dilemma sing your song dilemma of the week dilemma of the week okay do you want me to read it or do you want to
Starting point is 00:57:02 read it no i'm gonna do it i'm so bad at it aren't i should you do it you do it okay hey girls so i've got a dilemma i've been going through at the moment basically i'm with my boyfriend of six years he's baby daddy to our three-year-old daughter and I am so unhappy last year when things were really bad I had an affair for five months and I almost felt like I was falling in love with this guy I told my boyfriend I was unhappy and the reasons why and I said I don't know if I can carry on he completely changed he started making an effort being more present with our daughter basically doing everything right on paper at first I was happy again I called it off with the guy I'd been seeing he knew the situation but after a while I'm starting to be unhappy again
Starting point is 00:57:39 I get the ick daily and basically he does everything that he can to provide for us and he's a great dad and great for the family he earns a lot of money and he pays a lot more than me I would be able to be independent financially if I ended things but it would be a struggle I know it's what I need to do and I feel awful for my boyfriend every time I try and indicate that I'm not happy he's so good and he tries his very best I still think about the guy that I had an affair with and I also think I should mention I had about a history with the same guy about eight years ago before i met my boyfriend told a couple of close friends they just don't get it they've not got kids i'm worried if i end things i'll just be as unhappy and i'll regret it and i'll ruin our
Starting point is 00:58:15 family any tips would be welcome so i'm so sorry about this babes but you're gonna have to split with him yeah it's not gonna get any better you only get one life i've been thinking this recently you only get one fucking life and like do you really want to waste your hot best years on something you're not that into if he's giving you the ick it's not right it's let me tell you now no the ick will get worse and worse and your head will be full of negativity it's happened to me and you'll take it out on your friends yes and you will take it out on him so let's just just one second let's be fair to this guy it seems that he's a decent guy he's a good family man um and he deserves more as well so if you really do care for him let him find somebody that adores
Starting point is 00:58:59 because the more you pick him to bits and i've done this to somebody myself because you're not into it you get the ick you take it out on them that you're with them so everything they do you're icky fired by it and it'll make him feel really unconfident and it's not nice to put him through that's one reason second reason you are young you deserve more just because you've got a family so fucking what you deserve to be happy and if you've had an affair you've got no respect for the man that you're with now so there's just no point i am not saying run to the guy that you've had the affair with though because he could just be an escape you need to be by yourself financially it's going to be tough but let me tell you living a life like this isn't going to make you happy as
