Starting point is 00:01:48 I hear the sleigh bells jingling. Ring tinkling, dude. Yeah. Happy holidays out there if you're listening. Indeed, happy holidays. If you're listening on Christmas Eve, I mean, I know people are busy around this time of year, so maybe you're, maybe you don't have time to listen to a podcast episode right now, and you listen to this a couple days later.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Or you're hiding from your in-laws, and, you know, you're binging us right now, and you've listened to 10 episodes all right. That would be fantastic, you know. Yeah, hopefully you've listened to the last three episodes that came out in December to lead you to this moment. Because this is our last episode of the year and it's our final 10 tracks for our best of 2024. So as we've been saying leading up to this episode, these are not in any particular order. So, you know, don't get your hopes up. This doesn't mean that we're playing our best.
Starting point is 00:02:44 top 10, you know, I kind of, I kind of spoiled some of that earlier and, and I did too, man. This isn't even my, my five favorites of the year. But let me tell you something, dude. I got two tracks tonight that I think might be for sure up there for me. So I did save a couple of my, my best picks for last. So. Awesome. Well, let's get right into it, dude. I think you're kicking us off. Yeah. All right. So I am going to count this. as a 2024 release, although technically, the song itself was written
Starting point is 00:03:20 a long time ago. So, Swerve Driver, no stranger to this podcast. We've done an episode on them. I played a Swerve Driver track earlier in the year on one of our What You Hear'd episodes. So if you've been following along this year, Swarev Driver has put out a couple,
Starting point is 00:03:41 well, actually they put out an EP that was like a re-release. of an album that they put out back in the day. And alongside that, they sent out a bonus digital copy compilation record that had a bunch of old material on it that was never released. And so they also put out a vinyl record of that. So I'm bringing a track from that compilation record that came out because it's, you know, it's not a brand new track or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:04:14 It didn't come out in 2024. But this is the first time for a lot of people to hear these tracks because they were never released before. So, I mean, it's kind of like a 2024 release, right? Yeah. Anyway. I mean, yeah, if you remember, I think I atrode us out with us in our part one for Best of. It was a Fleet Fox's live recording. Yeah, from a live show that wasn't even in 2024.
Starting point is 00:04:39 And it was a song from the years of time. record. But the live album happened to be released in 2024, so it was kind of a, you know, a freebie. Sure, sure. But this song is amazing, dude. So, yeah, this is how we're going to kick us off with some sort of driver, iconic band with the cult following, I think. So there you go. This is a compilation record that they put out alongside the re-release of the 99th Dream EP. So the compilation record is called Dorecht. Dorimi Faso Latido And this song Is called Wait dude That's just all the
Starting point is 00:05:20 That's all the notes dude Or whatever Doremi Faso Latido Oh my God Dude I didn't even notice that Well they spelled it out The Rima They spelled it out
Starting point is 00:05:34 And made it look like Latin You know what dude This is why You gotta have two You gotta have two hosts You know Because one of them Is gonna pick up
Starting point is 00:05:41 Something that the other one didn't I mean, that's kind of cool, though. I'm sure they did that on purpose. Man, I can't be the only one that didn't catch that. Anyway, that's not the name of the song, though. So here we go. Again, this is Swer Driver. Deremi Faso Latito.
Starting point is 00:06:02 All right. This song is called Canvey Island Baby. Awesome, dude. They've got to be like one of my favorite 90s discoveries. in the last I don't know, decade. Definitely. They're just so good, man.
Starting point is 00:09:00 Yeah, man. They just, they write killer riffs. That's the first song I've heard of theirs where they do that kind of spoken word thing. I'm a sucker for that. I like it when it's done right. Yeah. And yeah, it's just solid, man.
Starting point is 00:09:13 That riff is an earworm, dude. It's been stuck in my head ever since I heard this song. That riff will just pop up in my head. Just solid, man. So we don't know, like, for sure, what year this song was originally recorded they're from they're from the um basically late 90s era yeah the era that this they put out this this uh ep called 99th dream back in the late
Starting point is 00:09:39 90s and these these tracks are lost outtakes and rarities from that era so late 90s is when this would have been recorded cool i don't know if i've listened to a 99th dream it's good yeah i skimmed it It's good. But yeah, if you're a Swirv Driver fan, this has been a good year, dude, because, like, there's been a couple of, like, opportunities, basically to get, get these records.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Like, 99th Dream, for example, was re-released. So, like, you'd get it on vinyl and stuff like that. Same with this compilation record. So, like, just, you know, Swirbdriver fans have had a good year, dude. So, anyway. All right, Q, well, I'm going to pass it to you. Are we getting to 180 yet?
Starting point is 00:10:23 Or what are we doing? I mean, there's, Let's stick in the same. Okay, stick in the same vein, dude. So we have talked about this record before I think I brought it as one of the intro tracks for one of our Whatcha Heard's. If you don't know, we always try to bring a brand newish song as an intro track for our What You Heard's. And this band, Ben Stellar, dropped an album called Scream from New York, New York, back in June of this year.
Starting point is 00:10:58 And man, I mean, just what an awesome. I want to say it's their debut. And it's just a killer album, man. I mean, you're no stranger to it. Yeah, I was a huge fan of passing judgment. I think that was a track you played for us back when you brought this.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Really good record. Yeah, man, really solid. I mean, I don't know what to lump them under, you know? Like, it's, it's, it's very much a New York band, if that makes sense. In this, in this, like, vein, you know, like, I mean, you got your strokes. You got your inner pole. Yeah. The list goes on.
Starting point is 00:11:34 I mean, they, this band just fits in with that, like, that caliber of, of music. That caliber of, yeah, yeah, sure. I mean, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, I gotcha. I mean, they're, yeah, it's garage rock, if you want to call it that. but if I remember correctly that's kind of how their their flavor but also just yeah just under the umbrella of like the alt rock resurgence that we've been enjoying lately you know all rock yeah grunge rock a little bit like email vibes a little bit a little bit yeah if you want to just say
Starting point is 00:12:11 post punk you know what I mean yeah let's do that let's just yeah post punk let's just post punk it dude I don't know what to It was so hard for me to pick a song, dude. So hard. Even like down to just before we started recording it, I wasn't sure which one to go with. But we're going to go with a track, who cares on the record. All in one.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Here we go. The other tracks were that you had in mind. I'm glad you played that one because that was fantastic, dude. Right off the rip, but the drums, fantastic drums, bass line. Had you heard this song? Yeah. Great. No, dude, never heard that.
Starting point is 00:15:33 That was amazing. Oh, fantastic. That was just great, dude. Yeah, love it, love it. I don't know if it gets any better than that. Now, I don't know if this is a stretch, but maybe you'll agree with me here. So I'm getting a little bit of, I'm getting some longwave vibes. Maybe in like the...
Starting point is 00:15:52 I mean, it's the same era that we were talking about earlier, like early 2000s post-mock. Yeah, I could see that. Yeah, I don't know. Like, this, the mood that this song casts. would fit in on Wake Me when it's over. Okay, I could see that. Really well. I could see that.
Starting point is 00:16:07 And, dude, have we done an episode on that, on that album? Yes. Okay. Yes, we have. Ambulance LTD. Stretch. Only, yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:18 But I mean, you know what though? But it's all in the same era. Yeah, yeah. We're talking about early 2000s. Yes. And that's, I think that's why we, why you talk about like this, you know, it feels of that era. You're talking about Dick. Oh, that sounds like a classic New York band.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Yeah. And you know what, dude? Is Longwave from New York? I wouldn't put it past him. Yeah, they are. They are, dude. Of course they are, bro. And what about Ambulance LTT?
Starting point is 00:16:46 Ambulance LTT? I bet you're there. They're also from New York, dude. They're also from New York. It's the bagels, I bet. It's the bagels, I was about to say it's the bagels, dude. But you know what makes a New York bagel, a New York bagel? The water.
Starting point is 00:16:59 It's the water, dude. Then there is. It's the water, bro. That's the water. Anyways, phenomenal album. Awesome. Yeah. I got to listen to it all the way through. I got to listen to it again.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Yeah. But I don't think I... This one's towards the end, Treve. I don't think I mean it all the way through. Hey, listen, brother. Sorry, dear. You all make mistakes. I apologize.
Starting point is 00:17:21 This is what we preach on this on this podcast. Always worth your time. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. To listen to an album all the way through. Sometimes I got to make it to the end. The last track might be the best. one. Exactly. All right, Treff. Where we go from here? All right. I'm going to give us our first
Starting point is 00:17:38 180. And, you know, I like to make sure all my genres are represented, you know, of the types of stuff that I like to listen to. It's not all shoegays around here. Or, you know, grunge, whatever we're calling it, the grunge revival. Grunge wave. Grunge wave, whatever you want to call. So we're going to play some vaporwave cue. Let's get some vapor wave representation on our best of. So I don't think we've had, have we had vapor wave on the best of yet? Not yet. Nope. It definitely wasn't for me. We've had some electronic music, some instrumental stuff, but we have not had vapor wave in a while, I don't think. So I'm going to play a track. I think I have brought a song from him before. So he goes by the name Windows 96, which,
Starting point is 00:18:30 Oh, yeah. I think I've heard him on this podcast. You can tell if you're going to listen, if you're about to hear a vapor wave song, if the name of the artist has anything to do with like 90s era software or, you know, some sort of, you know, I think there's like a bravery of aesthetic through. Yeah, it's the 90s tech aesthetic. Throwing a Greek bust in there, you know. Throw a Greek bust in for good measure.
Starting point is 00:18:57 Pick some random software that was popular in the 90s. I think there's like an artist that goes by like in carda or something like that or, you know, that encyclopedia that everybody used back in the day. Anyway. And I wouldn't be surprised if there's a floppy disk on that cover. So this guy, he also, you know, I think he records under a bunch of different names. So you may have seen him as, I think his actual name, Gavriel, Gavriel, something like that. Anyway, he is very prolific. He's put out three records this year.
Starting point is 00:19:27 So I'm going to play a track off of his record that came out in May. This album is called Yes, Da, Da, Da. This song is called Through the Sky. So I just, I mean, I just want to say I loved it. But I want to jump right into this thought that I had. Are we the only generation? that likes Vaporave? Hmm.
Starting point is 00:22:10 I doubt it. Honestly. I doubt it. Okay. But why do you... What makes you think that? Because it's just such a nostalgia trip, dude. But what makes...
Starting point is 00:22:19 That's what's interesting about it, though, dude. What makes it nostalgic? Because it reminds me of the computer games and early video games that we used to play. It's not 8-bit. Right. You know, it's not chip tune. Yeah. But it's just...
Starting point is 00:22:32 I mean, and the aesthetic that Vaporave has latched onto, to pair so well with the sound. It's just very like, yeah, I don't know. I hear you. What's the name of that? I don't even think there was any music on this program, but you remember that like encyclopedia program? In Carter, I said it earlier.
Starting point is 00:22:54 You did. Okay. Well, there's a whole, yeah. There's a whole design aesthetic that's sort of like, you know, falls under that umbrella. It's called, I think I tried to say it last time. I tried to say it last week or whatever, or maybe the first, I think the first episode in our best of. And I struggled to remember it.
Starting point is 00:23:14 And I'm struggling to remember it right now, Q. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Dude, yeah. It was something that you said so matter of factly, like, oh, yeah, of course that. Well, if you're a nerd like me and Q, you know this kind of stuff. The names of different, like, design aesthetics. And, like, it's even, like, argued as to, like, what it even means because people are just slapping that label on on anything that has you know bubbles and and fish on it and like you know so well i don't
Starting point is 00:23:44 have this is a bit now we're getting in a real side drag here here um frugiger arrow that's what it was called yeah just at the tip of my tongue right there well okay but anyways but back to the your comment about video games does gen C like vapor wave yeah uh well i know they're they're they're eager to slap the fruit of your era label on anything. But I mean, are they? Yeah, I do. I think so because, you know how like our generation, I think some of our, you know, we have, I still have sort of like a fondness and like romanticization.
Starting point is 00:24:25 Romanticization. Romanticization. Romantic moment. Yeah. Of the 80s, right? Like I love the 80s. The look, the feel, the same. sound of the 80s. I love it.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Which was kind of before our time. We were born in the late 80s. Exactly. So yeah. Okay. The point I'm trying to make is I think Gen Z looks at the 90s the way we did at the 80s, obviously. So I think that's why they might be right. That's why they love it. Exactly. Yeah, yeah, because the fashion trends are coming back around. Right. Apparently, Gen Z is getting into the fashion trends of like our high school years. Oh yeah. Yeah. It's kind of funny. But anyway, I think so yeah, I think it, it expensive. Like, you know, they might listen to it and enjoy it for other reasons. You know, besides, you know, for us, it's like, yeah, like you said, it kind of reminds us of video games that we used to play back in the day.
Starting point is 00:25:18 And like just the sound of like, I don't know, like educational videos or something like that that we would watch during elementary school or something like that. I think that's why Encarra comes to mind. Yeah, yeah. But, yeah, one of my favorite vapor wave records is by this artist named Equip. Oh, you've brought a few of their tracks. The name of the record, if you want to listen to it, it's called I Dreamed of a Palace in the Sky,
Starting point is 00:25:42 and he took inspiration from like Japanese RPG video games from like the 90s. Anyway, so yeah, that was Windows 96. Everything he puts out is great. The thing that I like about Vaporwave, I'm very picky about my Vaporwave.
Starting point is 00:25:59 I'll just say that. Like, I don't like the Vaporwave that just has slowed down, vocals and saxophone samples and stuff like that. That to me is like cookie cutter, dime a dozen vapor wave. But the artist sat there that do it really well, you can just put on their records and it's all very, you know, coherent and cohesive, I guess. Coherent is not the right word, but like cohesive and like, you know, just put it on.
Starting point is 00:26:21 And it's just that vibe, basically, you know. Sometimes you can get a little goofy and a little wacky. So you got to be. And that's part of the fun. Yeah, you got to choose wisely with your. favorite way but anyway if you're like that kind of thing there's just so many artists out there putting out stuff like that but you got to kind of you know wade through a lot of bull crap to get to the good stuff but anyway windows and i say because i've always been a fan of his stuff
Starting point is 00:26:47 all right q i assume we're going to make another 180 unless you've got something that falls under that umbrella all right dude you want to talk about the 180s 80th of all 180s i'm ready dude And what I'm happy about, dude, is that I for sure will have another 180 after your pick. So, dude, unless you're about to floor me, dude, unless you're about to knock me off my ass, I might floor you. No, you're not, you're not going to, listen, you're not going to expect this and you're either going to, you're either not going to be a fan of this or you're going to love it. Don't get me excited. All right, man.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Okay. No, I don't know how to pronounce one of the names of this duo. Are you bringing a heavy metal truck? No. Okay. Well, see, that's why you've got to be excited, though. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. All right, dude.
Starting point is 00:27:44 Have you ever heard of, you haven't? I guarantee you haven't heard it. Pete and Bass. I think it's Bass, or Baz, maybe, because his full name's Basil, but these guys are from the UK. So Basil, Pete and Bass. I have not heard of them. No bells are ringing right now, dude. All right, well, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:05 This album artist is cracking me up. Which one are you looking at? Which one are you looking at? Mugshot. Yeah. Okay. All right. These guys hail from southeast London.
Starting point is 00:28:19 I don't know what I'm getting into, dude. One of the tracks features T-Pain. Uh-huh. Okay. Oh, it's called T-Pain. Okay. Yeah, that's the song I'm bringing, actually. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Well, they have a remix that actually features. With the features T-Pain. Okay. So what are we getting into? This is, I mean, with all due respect, the best way to describe Pete and Baz, they're a bunch of grand. They're a couple granddad. Okay, I was going to say, that's actually they're, that's them on the record.
Starting point is 00:28:48 This is them. What is going on? Listen, listen. Okay. Okay. Here's just one, just one quote from an interview from them. An interview. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:02 The question was, what led you into actually starting music? Obviously, most people start a lot younger than you guys. And the main question that people seem to have is, why now? The answer from Pete is, why we're doing this is my granddaughter once was in my car playing the radio stations. And I put it back. Then she put it back. And in the end, I gave up. So they're switching back and forth because he didn't like what he was hearing.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Bass heard it in the car. And he said, we could do something like this. and he went and wrote one of the, he ran away and wrote one of their songs straight away. And that's basically how it all got started. So basically it's a bunch of grandads like just, not a bunch, there's just two.
Starting point is 00:29:47 Okay, a couple of grandad just saying, just basically just trying to. And they're crushing it, dude. They are crushing it. Right. Man. All right. This is the hype right now. All right.
Starting point is 00:30:00 I guess I don't know what to exist. Is it rap? it's okay I'm sorry I should have yes I assume it okay it's right so that you know how many people have said that same thing when they listen to rap on the radio I could do this okay but here's the deal dude they're like they're back and forth and like their their voices like together just I mean yeah dude this is just the wildest shit I've ever heard or seen I don't know what to expect right now I'm looking at pictures of these guys and I I dude I have no clue what to expect right now. So if you are not driving a car right now, I suggest actually opening up the music video for this track, T-Pain, because it shows them basically, I mean, obviously, it's a music video, they're lip-sinking, right?
Starting point is 00:30:47 It's a music video. But it shows them actually rapping the lyrics, and the lyrics are at the bottom of the screen. Here we go to it. Pete and Bass. The song is called T-Pain. Nine. Hopping the cab, banging me crossword,
Starting point is 00:31:39 heading the west and I'm banging a poshberder, couple of cans and a puff on me deaf sticker, click on my fingers, he's cutting me cocked, bringing the bow bells, bringing the website, I'm flinging the dry food, bringing the cassette, there belling me non-stop sending a last setter, hopping me drops up, I'm running a man day. Mr Big Bucks, I'll be looking at business,
Starting point is 00:31:56 dressed to kill mama got me up on a Ricklist, pole position, had a feather running a distance, I'll be banging, a bang in a bang in the givin the dripless. The bigger the bag, bigger the chance, the birds up in my contacts, contacts, the figures a big deal, a pen on the contract, so on me up, baby, give a tip of me to et. And I've been with me the word puffin' rentin, pushing a pack, the full stack like a pension,
Starting point is 00:32:15 giving the fish girl that's slide like a penguin, flipping the chick of my bills, why I fucking pensions. Slow my vision, I've been puffing the peace paths, standing three fires to the fiends by the seaside on my tear lines, in the seams and my levers with a stack figure the nick in nose, bee hood. Birds whistle when I walk like this, best listen when I talk like this, I'm outside on the curb with me tax out if he's hard, he can try and chalk like. trying to swing it when I walk like this it's bobbing when I talk like this I'm
Starting point is 00:32:41 outside on a car with a strap set ever love you ain't gonna choke like a sheet I spin fellas my swing quicker than federer I serve packing a band's back on a regular and I'm a tell her she sing for me to buy in your mama's hooked on the packs I'll be selling her I click Amazon bang on my number not saying I feel is that with the lead like a wow hard not to be amused by that's for sure and yeah they're pretty pretty damn good They're really good, dude. I mean, those bars that they're dropping, dude. Now, I'm no, like, I'm no, like, rap expert or whatever, but like, let's just appreciate this genius lyric cue.
Starting point is 00:33:22 The bigger, the back, the bigger the butt crack. I know, dude. I guess they're right about that. But, like, is this just a massive troll? Like, are they just trolling their grandkids? Like, by saying like, look how good we are at this? Yeah, because like, you want to talk about like just running with it and like being. I know, I mean, that's, it's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:33:51 It's just funny. I mean. Dude, there's a bunch of awesome songs by these guys. They didn't just start this year. Yeah, it looks like 2018. They've been doing it for a while. They've been doing it for a while. I bet you the first, the first track that they put out probably was just them scurring around.
Starting point is 00:34:05 And then like it probably got traction. and they're like, oh, okay, let's do this real. I mean, dude, you want to talk about just like proof, dude, that, you know, it's never too late to try something, you know what I mean? For sure. To see what, you know, don't, don't let the haters hate you. Because, I mean, I'm sure they've been, you know, I don't know what to do. Dude, I'm speechless right now. I never would have thought that this would have made it to the list or even that this would be a,
Starting point is 00:34:36 thing that's not because like it's not like they're they're they're they're approaching it as serious as they can I guess but like let's not like it's not like it's not like just like corny like joke lyrics and stuff about being old or something like that or like you know do they're dropping some serious shit dude I think he said he swings swings harder than fetter or something like that yeah I don't know I'm not sure what that means that's a tennis player I think or Oh, okay, there we go. Soccer, you know, I don't fucking know sports, man. Fetter, yeah, tennis player.
Starting point is 00:35:11 Yeah, so he swings harder than fetter. So it's... I liked the line, a drumstick. Drumstick will make a head bang like a punk band. I mean, dude, talking about your drum head with a drumstick. Yeah. And, you know, head banging like a punk band. Dude, those are great lyrics, man.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Well, the thing about it is, like, these guys... probably they may I'm curious what their musical background is like I'm sure they're if I dig dug deep yeah they probably listen to I mean they might have been listening to like the sex pistols and shit when they were growing up you know yeah for legit dude for sure yeah I mean I couldn't pass up playing a plan a track from from these guys for the for the best of because I mean it's just it's just it's just awesome dude I love it yeah all right dude we have this has got to be 180 and how to be. Yes. This song was going to be a 180 no matter what track it followed you because you will never bring a metal track to no filler. That's my responsibility, right? That's right. So I had to do
Starting point is 00:36:20 it because I, you know, every year I want to have at least one metal track on my best of to represent the listeners out there like me who appreciate metal cue because we don't do it often. We don't play often on this on this podcast um and this record just blew me away dude uh it's it's made many many different publications out there like metal publications have listed this on their best albums of the year one of them put it as their their best album like their number one pick for the best album uh so this is a group called chat pile from oklahoma Oklahoma city i believe and cute they have this is an infamous band dude in the history of no filler and I'll tell you why you might not remember this I brought a track of theirs years ago to what you heard a song called Dallas Beltway and you were so
Starting point is 00:37:17 disturbed by the lyrics that you encouraged me to remove it from the episode and I did oh man oh Because first of all, the song is brilliant. Dallas Beltway is a genius song, dude. The lyrics are amazing. Because it's basically, you know, maybe this is before I used to tell you the metaphor of like metal is to music as like horror is to movies. You know what I mean? It's basically.
Starting point is 00:37:46 Yeah. The lyrics are basically from the perspective of like somebody who killed his children and their bodies are in the trunk of the car and he's driving around. Dang, dude, I told you to remove it from the... Yeah, you did, dude. Or you didn't say remove it like you you you're like I don't know if we want to put that in the show Oh god anyway so maybe it was a little softer back then maybe maybe maybe it really is that bad No it's just a really it's it's brilliant storytelling I'll just say that that's what's great about his lyrics
Starting point is 00:38:13 I got a question for you traf yeah maybe you know the answer to who Who's the first metal band to to use this style I'm looking at that yeah it's kind of a joke nowadays That font? I couldn't tell you. Yeah, I couldn't tell you. But it's kind of a joke. Whatever that is. Every metal band, a lot of metal bands, their logo basically looks like that.
Starting point is 00:38:35 Yeah. It's a joke now. The band name is in there somewhere. You just got to find it. You got to find it. It's in there. It is in there. Anyway.
Starting point is 00:38:43 I see it. Yeah, you got to squint. Yeah, I see it. Anyway, so this record is called Cool World. It came out in October 11th, actually. And I could not pick a track to you, but I wanted to narrow it down. and pick out of my like three or four songs that I could have played. This is the one I think that represents the album the most and represents the band of the most
Starting point is 00:39:07 and like what they do really, really well. So here we go. I'm going to get the lyrics pulled up cue because that's, if you're going to, if you're going to listen to chat pile, you've got to have the lyrics pulled up. All right, here we go, dude. Strap in. This is some, this is some metal cue. And, you know, this is metal.
Starting point is 00:39:26 All right. This is metal. And, you know, I don't want to scare you too much here. But here we go. I'm already terrified. It's not, it's really not that bad. But, uh, all right. So here we go.
Starting point is 00:39:36 This song is called tape. And I understand the hype, dude. I'm not a metal fan. But that was great. You liked it. Okay. This was one of the more interesting. Okay, dude.
Starting point is 00:43:25 Can I play another drag? Just real quick. Sure. Yes, dude. Yes. Wait, hang on. Can we talk about it? Yes, let's talk about it for a second.
Starting point is 00:43:34 Yeah. Great storytellers, dude. That's what I've been telling you. I got a question for you. Ask me. Is this uncharted territory in the metal world? No. As far as like how they...
Starting point is 00:43:45 Hang on. Hang on. All right. Now, I'm talking about like... It's not all just like the most distorted sounding guitar that you could ever imagine. I mean, they, you know, They borrow from a lot of influences. Like I, what I love about Chapile is they, they sound like they're an extremely
Starting point is 00:44:09 original metal band. Like there's not anybody that they really sounds like them. They're very unique. But they pull in a lot of influence. They have a little bit of new metal to them a little bit. They have like some grunge elements to them. They have some. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:25 They have a little bit of everything. Do you think this is what put them on the, on the, top of the tops for a lot of lists. I think they just, the lyrics are always really interesting. Like their record that they put out a couple of years back, probably the one that I brought a track from. Now, God's Country was their first album. A lot of their music is like, it talks about just like the, just the depravity of
Starting point is 00:44:54 like living in lower income America. and like the struggles of living in this fucking of this society yeah you know the the word like the term chat pile apparently comes from like a term for like toxic waste dumps that were left around like Oklahoma or something like that so just like the you know just living in like the you know the slums if you want to call it that of like middle america and stuff like that but this record goes outside of like the country and talks more broadly. And to that point, I'll play the next track real quick here. All right, Q. This song is going to sound completely different, but I'm going to pull the lyrics up and you'll know it's not hard to guess what this song is about. So here we go.
Starting point is 00:45:45 This is track two off the record. The song is called Shame. You know, dude, before that like guttural demon voice, I was getting some like me without you vines. I knew you're going to say that, dude. Yeah, because I thought that too. because yeah it's very very similar to the to the style of spoken word and yeah yeah and that's that's what makes him such a interesting vocalist to listen to because like he conveys so much
Starting point is 00:48:54 in the way he delivers his verses like a lot of times he he he almost like comes off as like a slurring drunk person who's like he's like just like yeah yeah yeah yeah you know just like you know kind of letting it all out or yeah just like you know no no filter just like just talking you know mumbling. That's what made Dallas Beltway such a really interesting song because he is speaking from the, like he is the killer. And he's, he's basically like, it's basically like you're trapped in the car with this killer. And he's telling you about how he, how like he, you know, doesn't regret the fact that, you know, all the things he's done. And by the way, my, my kids are in the trunk. Isn't the, isn't there a toady song that's very similar to that? Yeah, definitely. I mean, like the,
Starting point is 00:49:40 yeah, yeah, coming through the window or whatever. Eagles of Death Metal too. Remember that? Eagles of Death Metal track. Oh yeah. Midnight Creeper. Yeah. So anyway, chat pile. They're one of the most unique bands, period. And they fall under the metal umbrella. But like they pull in a bunch of different influences and sounds. And this is one of the most, one of the most interesting records, dude, you will hear in a long time. If you play it, you got to listen to it all the way through. But it's so damn good. Anyway, cool world. Chat Pile. It's fucking awesome. All right. Another 180, dude. There's no way you got something that's similar to that. We're spinning around and around, dude. We're going all around the world right now.
Starting point is 00:50:23 In the world. Yeah, so here's what's happening, brother. What's happening? I brought a hip-hop song. You just went full on metal. How about some country? Let's do some country, dude. Wow, man.
Starting point is 00:50:37 We're hitting all our bases right now. We've got it all covered. And country never makes it onto this. Never. Never. I mean, maybe. I mean, we did. We did talk about how M.J.
Starting point is 00:50:51 Lenderman had some twang. Okay. But that's not the same. You're right. And you know what, dude? I got to give a shout out to our old pal Mitchell. There he is, man. Mr. Mitch.
Starting point is 00:51:03 If we're talking country on no filler, we're usually going to reference Mitchell. Well, because, dude, I'm not going to find, or I'm not going to hear good country. country music because I don't seek it out and you're damn sure not going to hear good country music on the radio. Now, maybe this, this, I don't know if this artist is heavily featured on like mainstream country radio. But the artist's name, Sturgle Simpson. He released an album. You've heard it.
Starting point is 00:51:38 Yeah, yeah, very, very popular. He released an album called Passage de deser. I don't know. I think he's French. Yeah, thanks. And as funny is he went under a different name for this album. So I don't think it's actually Johnny Blue Skies. Johnny Blue Skies, because here's the story behind that.
Starting point is 00:52:05 So he wanted to remain in line with his stance of only releasing five original studio albums under his actual name. But apparently he got the name Johnny Blue Skies. by a bartender in Lexington, Kentucky who would introduce Simpson with the moniker whenever he would begin an open mic set at the bar. Okay. So this name goes way back with him because, I mean, when was the last time
Starting point is 00:52:28 Sturgel Simpson did an open mic at a bar? Apparently his birth name Q is John, John Sturgel Simpson, so there you go. That's where John comes from. Yeah. Full disclosure, this is the only song that I've heard from this album, Because this is a song that Mitchell shared with us.
Starting point is 00:52:48 Cue, the song came out on our birthday, bro. Or this album did at least, July and 20. Hey, look at that. Now everyone knows, now people are this much closer to stealing our identity, dude. We've, I'm sure, surely. We've talked about this before. I'm sure. Also recorded at Abbey Road.
Starting point is 00:53:04 Hmm. And the Clement House in Nashville. So hard to know if this track was recorded in London. But it's possible. Well, this is just a, I mean, just a dozy of a song, dude. I love it, man. It's really, really good. So here we go.
Starting point is 00:53:23 Johnny Blues, guys. This song is called If the Sun Never Rises Again. It's just a phenomenal track, dude. It's not the first time I heard it because I think Mitchie also sent it to me when it came out. And I, yeah, I remember just falling in a lot. it did you can't you can't you can't not love it right such a it's a timeless track exactly indeed but what makes it country you know i mean because i would say that this is almost like a this is like soulful you know um not trying to like not trying to like pick hair like like like you know
Starting point is 00:57:18 sure split hairs or anything yeah yeah yeah i think it's a country song because Churchill simpson wrote it right but i mean no but like i guess here's i guess here's the point i'm trying to get is like I just kind of have written off country music, right? Because when I think of country, I think of the worst possible examples of country music. Sure. And that's in my brain is what country music is. And then when you hear something like this,
Starting point is 00:57:46 it's like, oh, I just, in the same way, dude, that like I would, you know, I would say to somebody, oh, you got to, if you want to hear good music, you got to, you got to seek it out and, you know, look for it. you know in terms of like rock music not being on the radio we're not practicing what we pre exactly so like with country music there's probably um obviously there's a bottomless pit of amazing country music artists that i would fucking love if i just gave it a chance you know what i mean if i knew where to look uh and here's a great example of that now obviously like this is
Starting point is 00:58:20 probably what makes sturgel simpson so uh you know so well loved and stuff is he probably does that a lot incorporates other styles into his music, right? So it's country, but it's got some soul to it. You know what? I was getting, dude, really heavy Wilco, specifically sky blue sky, impossible Germany. The guitar? Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Wilco guitar player. I was getting some sky blue sky. I mean, I wish I knew his name. Fibes. Because, yeah, it depends on the era because they've, yeah, they've rotated out there. Like you were saying, the sky blue sky, uh, era of Wilco, I think the same guy, guy. I mean, I saw Wilco a couple years back, and it was definitely the same guitar player.
Starting point is 00:59:08 I saw them during that album tour at South by Southwest. Nice. Yeah, it was 2007. I think it, oh, what's his name? Nels, Nels Kline. He just joined the band that you. Yeah, Nels Kline, dude. Yep. Nels Kline. Yeah. Okay. He's also in a few other, like, huge bands. Man, I wish I could remember. Anyways You would think that Wikipedia would help me on here He's been the guitarist for
Starting point is 00:59:37 Wilco since 2004 So that's his Yeah, he's a jazz guitar player, dude By trade I guess He leads the Nells Kline singers The Nels Kline Trio And the Nels Kline 4 Named, listen to it
Starting point is 00:59:54 Named 82nd Greatest Guitarist of All Time By Rolling Stone in 2011 How cool is that? Anyway, Sturgel. That's a... Yeah. But yeah, dude, like you said, timeless track, beautiful.
Starting point is 01:00:14 Yeah. Yeah. That song is a instant classic, dude. Instant. Right. That hook in the chorus, dude. Yeah. Beautiful backing.
Starting point is 01:00:25 I mean, the backing band is just great. Yeah. Just, I mean, all around great. great. Yep. Great. Great song. All right, dude.
Starting point is 01:00:34 Pass to you. Where are we yet now? I got two tracks. We each got two tracks left. All right. Cool. All right. So I'm going to bring Peel Dream magazine, Q.
Starting point is 01:00:44 And you also had a pick of theirs on your best of. I did. But you graciously allowed me to bring my pick. All right. So I'm going to play a track off their new record, Rosemaine Reading Room. This is not the first time. a track from this record was on the pod came out in September so not that long ago I played
Starting point is 01:01:04 a song called Wish You Well so I'm going to play a different track tonight but Pilgrine magazine if you don't know they're kind of like this avant pop group from uh L.A. I think and so like if you like bands like Stereo Lab or uh sound carriers or broadcasts you're going to love these guys And that's all I really need to say. So here we go. The name of this track is RIP, running in place. Yeah, I really love their progression and sound since, man. So I, yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:53 You brought a 2020 record, Agit, Adjutop, Altena. And they were kind of shoeges. And they were, dude, dream poppiping. They were straight up, not just shoegaze. They were like, kept. Sheald's like I mean they were just straight up my bloody Valentine shoegays yeah they were they were the more of the like the traditional into that pocket yeah and pop shoegay sound yeah and now they're yeah what do you classify them as now I mean the label they throw on them themselves is avon pop
Starting point is 01:04:20 and so like I said that that's the same label that gets thrown on to bands like stereo lap and stuff like that like sort of like lounge yeah I would still call them dream pop dream popy but yeah they're Sure. They're stepping away from like the fuzzy guitar reverb, drenched guitar sound of like traditional shoegaze and going a little bit more. Yeah, that sort of like lounge psychedelic kind of stuff, right? Which is great.
Starting point is 01:04:51 And they're from Los Angeles too. I would have put money that they were from the UK, dude. But they're, they're from Illinois. And they're fucking dope, dude. Just a just a solid record from start to finish. Just easy listening, dude, you know. great voice. They trade back and forth.
Starting point is 01:05:08 It's him and a female vocalist as well. I could name them, but I don't have it in front of me. So I'm not going to. Peelry Magazine. They're amazing. Check him out. That record was called Rosemaine Reading Room. That song was called RIP, Running in Place.
Starting point is 01:05:25 Thank you. We're all over the map today. Where are we going next? Yeah, so here's the struggle I have, man. this is that dude. You're down to your last two picks, man. Yeah, and my best of list is really long. You know?
Starting point is 01:05:41 Well, here's what I was going to say, dude. So we're, as we have done, maybe, it's possible last year is the only time that we did this. But we're going to put out a Spotify playlist with all of these picks. So you can put your whole list on there, dude, is my thought. Okay. I'm down, dude. Just saying, yeah, if you want to hear all of our favorite picks of 2024, we'll, we'll, we'll make a comprehensive Spotify playlist.
Starting point is 01:06:06 So all the stuff we've been playing in the last few weeks, plus all of the tracks that Quentin didn't get to bring. Does that make you feel better, dude? That makes me feel better. All right. But still, you got two tracks left to play. I got two tracks. On the air, as it were.
Starting point is 01:06:21 On the air. Man, I don't. I don't know, dude. No prash. Just give me a second. Just give me a second. All right. You know what?
Starting point is 01:06:32 I'm going to go with this one because this album caught me off guard. I don't know. I just didn't know what to expect from it. I don't remember where I heard about it. Or, yeah. The artist is called Mercy Lemon. I think that's how you would say her first name. Mercy Lemon.
Starting point is 01:06:51 Mercy Lemon. Who is a, let me see. Maybe it's French like Merci. Yeah. Maybe. Let's find out. She's from America, so I doubt it. What are you trying to say about America's?
Starting point is 01:07:10 I don't know. She's an indie rock musician from Pittsburgh, dude. I don't have much to say to, I don't see much on her, honestly. Look at her go. It's a little fulky, I guess. I don't know. It's hard to describe. Let's just play some of it, man.
Starting point is 01:07:29 I'm ready for it. So the album is called. called Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild. All right. And the song is called Window. I'm not your body, but this crying at your touch my... Excellent harmonies, dude. Kind of leaves you speechless, dude.
Starting point is 01:10:31 It does. I'm glad that we have a track like that to, you know, to round out this best of it is, because that's, That was gorgeous. I love it. I love that kind of stuff, man. Singer-songwriter stuff. I got to say this right here because, I mean, I feel like I toss the genre of folk around.
Starting point is 01:10:51 I mean, I think that's fair, though, a fair label to throw out on it. If it's a singer-songwriter and it's just them and their guitar, I'm going to say folk every time. I think it's fine, dude. I think that fits the bill. They're in their acoustic guitar, yeah. Does it? Sure. I just don't want to, like, cut it short of what it is, you know?
Starting point is 01:11:09 We could just call it a beautiful song. There we go. But, I mean, yeah, that's what we like to do as humans. We like to categorize things, Kewan. We like to put things in boxes. Yeah. With labels on them. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:27 Like I said, just blew me away when I heard it. Didn't know what to expect just a beautiful record all the way through. Really pretty stuff. Would you say that it was haunting, Kim? I was trying not to, but yeah, I'd say that. I agree. All right, Jeff. You got one more pick.
Starting point is 01:11:51 All right, man. For 2024, what'd you got? I am bringing a track that blew me out of my chair did when I first heard it. The lyrics are, are haunting cue. But this guy is a singer-songwriter. He goes by the name Mount Erie. Oh, I've heard of him. Dude, this song is amazing.
Starting point is 01:12:15 And it has an effect on me, Q, and every time I hear it, a certain part of the song gets me every time. So I'm going to get the lyrics pulled up again to you because this is another excellent storyteller, poet, kind of a singer-songwriter, right? The way he delivers his lyrics are very raw, the way he sings, if you want to call it singing. so here we go he put out a new record not that long ago it's just back in November November 1st called Night Palace
Starting point is 01:12:49 and it another really really unique record with all sorts of genres throughout really really interesting songwriter so here we go this song is just a gorgeous song man
Starting point is 01:13:05 and really really good so here we go this song Again, this artist is named Mount Erie. That's what he goes by. His actual name is Phil Elverum. And this song is called Huge Fire. I mean, yeah, dude.
Starting point is 01:16:23 Everything about that was awesome. Yeah, amazing track, man. Very, very different. I liked what he was doing with the vocals, like the two vocal links. The, I guess it's harmonizing. with himself. Weird way.
Starting point is 01:16:41 But the song, so he has an interesting story, life, I guess, if you want to put it that way. So, like, he, I want to say this correctly because, like, it's, he's had some trauma in his life. And so, like, what this song is about, you know, he's gathering up all of his belongings and just, you know, basically putting it, you know, setting a fire, burning all of his belongings. and like, like, just like basically like walking away from it, you know. Yeah. And like, when you know his backstory, it becomes a little bit more, I don't know, more impactful, I guess.
Starting point is 01:17:20 So let me just see if I can do the quick liner notes here. So I'm going to read from the pitchfork review. Phil Elverrim's music, like the old growth forests where the, sorry, this is pitchfork, sorry, got to get through all this fluff. Hey, Washington. He's from Washington. like the old growth forest where the Washington songwriter has found work of late, is defined by cycles of destruction and rebirth.
Starting point is 01:17:43 The first major rupture came when he blew up the microphones after 2003's Mount Erie and took the album's name as a new alias. The second came after the death of his partner, Genevieve, in 2016, on a series of austere albums that reckoned with his younger self's poetic treatment and impermeance. Impermanence. Of impermanence. album album album album album album night palace feels both like a third definitive rupture and a culmination of his work over the past 25 years yeah and this is kind of how they describe him uh you know
Starting point is 01:18:18 this album is 81 minutes long it's pretty long it's like 26 tracks and it uh as they as pitchforks finds room for all the earlier elvirums which is the last name the zen poet the stark realist the black metal shaman, the kid tinkering with recording gear in the backroom of the business and Anna Quartz and teaching himself how to bring the sound in his head to life. Anyway, death of his partner. So he lost his partner in 2016. So like he's had trauma in his life, right? Like real trauma. And so like when you hear about, you know, this is a song where it's like he wants to like leave everything in the past, kind of burn it all up and walk away kind of thing, you know, you can kind of see kind of where he's coming from here with some of the trauma that he's experienced.
Starting point is 01:19:07 Anyway, that song was called Huge Fire. Love it. This record is incredible. It's all over the place. He's just a really talented songwriter. So yeah, that's how I'm closing us out to you. How do you top that? All right, dude.
Starting point is 01:19:22 So I've decided to wrap up the year with... Don't say Casper baby pants, dude. Don't do it. Don't fucking do it. Here's the beauty of this. fucking do it. Listen to this. You're about to say
Starting point is 01:19:36 Casper Baby fans. But it's not. It's Chris. It's Chris Ballou. Okay. Now here's the thing. Dude, did I, am I right? Did I call it?
Starting point is 01:19:48 You call this? But. Oh, Lord. No, I get it. Casper Baby Pants. It's Chris Balloo. He's decided and I don't know. Oh, is it?
Starting point is 01:19:59 So it's, it's not a song he released under Casper Baby Pants. Correct. Okay. Yeah. So for those of you who don't know, Chris Ballou, I guess probably founding member, lead singer, guitar player of the presidents of the United States of America, which was an amazing. A beloved 90s band. A beloved 90s band.
Starting point is 01:20:22 Grunge is not the right word, but yeah. Well, yeah. Okay. How do you describe me? Yeah. Just wacky, but like, yeah. Alt rock. Lighthearted.
Starting point is 01:20:32 to alt rock and grunge um since the early 2000 why do you want to keep saying grudge because they got they got thrown into that cat did they really time hey you know go back and listen to our episode okay about
Starting point is 01:20:48 presidents all right so since the early 2000s he's been releasing children's music under the name casper baby pants and if you listen to this podcast you've heard you've heard a million times ever Since I became a dad, I've been listening to a lot of Casper Baby Pants, and I've got to tell you this right now, brother. He's one of my favorite artists.
Starting point is 01:21:10 Okay. All right. Not just kids' music. I mean, his music, they're so catchy. They're just, I mean, it's kids' music, but, like, he does it right. That's a great, great songwriter, no doubt about it. Yeah. And he just decided, I guess, not that long ago, to start.
Starting point is 01:21:32 releasing songs under Chris Blue as a solo, like solo stuff. The funny thing about this is, I don't think he can separate himself as a human being from Casper Baby Pants anymore. I mean, it's the same guy, you know, like he is Casper Baby Pants. You're saying he can't write songs that don't just sound like his kid's songs. This is Casper Baby Pants with slightly more mature lyrics. But let's be real, dude. Let's be real.
Starting point is 01:22:02 If you listen to Kitty off of their debut record, that could be a kid's song. Kitty in my foot and I want to touch it. Like that's like a kid's song. Peaches, millions of peaches, dude. It's just how he writes, man. He's just a playful songwriter. Yeah. And I just, yeah, I wanted to round out the year with a Chris Berlou song because I just, I mean, he's just been a huge part of my life.
Starting point is 01:22:31 Ronan just absolutely adores Casper Baby Pan's songs. Dude, I would like to be in the room when you pull out the presence of the United States of America self-titled record and say, hey, Ronan, that music that you adored as a child, check this out. Yeah. And just telling him, this is the same guy. I just see his brand. I know. And that's the thing. Like, I'm going to, the funny thing is I can transition into playing him this Chris Ballou solo stuff.
Starting point is 01:23:00 when he's a little bit Because like I said The lyrics are a little bit more Mature And like there's a song about Uh Dopamine and like Drugs and stuff
Starting point is 01:23:10 But you know It's a cat It's Casper It's Chris Balloo Sure Yeah Okay Here we go dude
Starting point is 01:23:16 All right So he actually just released this one November 15th So he's doing this right now Dude Here we go Chris Balloo To Roundout
Starting point is 01:23:26 24 This song is called Crush on Love. Catchy AF? Yeah, that's Chris Balloo for you, dude. Yeah, he's such a prolific songwriter, man. If you look at his discography, that's what I appreciate so much about him. It's absurd, man.
Starting point is 01:26:34 Apparently, he put out 19 records as Casper Baby Pants. Yeah, dude, and I've listened to a hand, you know, like every year almost. Yeah, it literally. It hasn't released one in a while, dude. I'm waiting for it. Well, I'm sorry, dude. I'm sorry to say this to you, dude. Hang on. But I'm looking at a record right now that says, say it ain't so. Casper Baby Pants has recorded his last album.
Starting point is 01:26:56 And that was in 2021. 2021. 2021? Yeah, his last record. He said in a Seattle's Child publication, so like a children's publication, says that I have said what I wanted to say over the course of 19 albums, announcing that it will be his last. So the one he put out, I guess, easy breezy was his last.
Starting point is 01:27:21 was his last one. That's why you... Dude, dude. If you look at his... I'm sure there are. But yeah, from... I mean, look at all these songs that I've starred off of...
Starting point is 01:27:32 There they are. Easy breezy. And you know why I've started him? Because Ronan loves it. There they go. But yeah, if I'm looking at... If I'm reading this correctly, literally every year, going back to 2009,
Starting point is 01:27:42 he put out a record under Casper Baby Pants. Every year, sometimes multiple... Now, a couple of them are... It's... Beatles cover albums. Well, still. There's a Christmas album in there. But yeah, man.
Starting point is 01:27:55 But that's insane, dude. I know. And they're all, dude, I'm not, I'm not kidding around. I mean, there's, there's some duds on the albums. I mean, they're kids songs, but they're just so good, man. Like, just for parents out there that have kids, I don't know, between the ages of two and, I don't freaking know, eight. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:28:18 Listen to Casper Baby Pants. If you're sick and tired of freaking cocoa goddamn lemon or whatever his name is. And all that other garbage that's out there, there's something better for you out there. It's called Casper Baby Fants, all right? You made a mistake if you brought cocoa melon into your child's life. And that's what I was going to say. Okay. I mean, yeah.
Starting point is 01:28:45 I've enjoyed the songs you've played over the years from him. Yeah. Okay, so that makes sense then He's done with Yeah, that's why he's released in solo stuff This is what he's moving on Yeah, that makes sense, dude I mean, if you think about it, 19 years,
Starting point is 01:28:59 his kids are all grown up now I know And let me tell you, you can tell with the lyrics he is singing to his children With some of these lyrics, right, right, right Like, he can't, he's not writing this stuff I don't, I don't see So maybe
Starting point is 01:29:13 I would be shocked if he didn't have kids I, he's got to, he's got to But if he doesn't, that's something. But yeah, anyway, that's, you know, dude, I think that's a good, I think that's a good way to close us out. Upbeat, happy song. Exactly. Hey, man, that's him through and through.
Starting point is 01:29:38 Yeah. Cannot find his Chris Ballou song or Casper Baby Pants or even President's song that isn't upbeat and fun. That's what he's all about. Chris Balloo. Look at him go. All right. Well, that this is, hey, this is our last episode of the year. So, yeah, man. You know, next time we talk to you guys, it'll be 2025, a new year, all sorts of new, you know, tragic and depressing things to come our way here.
Starting point is 01:30:11 Say no more. Say no more. But we'll see what's around that corner, huh? All right. So, like we've said, um, you know. In the past, you know, I think we'll continue probably the twice a month episodes, I would assume. Yep. Because I think that's our capacity. And we'll probably do the same format next year.
Starting point is 01:30:37 So watch your herds every... 12 deep dives. 12 watcher herds. Technically 11 each if you want to leave room for the best of is in December. because I'm sure we'll do that again. Hey, Travis, start that playlist early, man. I will. It's all I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:30:56 Start that 2025 playlist early. I'm not going to, you know what, dude, here's something else. I'm going to sit on tracks a little bit more because I brought a lot of new tracks this year. And I don't like having repeats. For what you heard. Yeah. I don't like having. Yeah, same.
Starting point is 01:31:09 I don't like same. So that means you'll be, you know, depraved of new tracks throughout the year, listeners. But it'll come back in December. in a year from now. So yeah, follow us on Instagram. Maybe I'll start doing Instagram posts again next year. You never know.
Starting point is 01:31:28 Don't. New Year. You got to make resolutions out there for yourself. Hey, just throwing this out there. We're supposed to have two episodes. All right. I messed up guys. Okay.
Starting point is 01:31:39 And you weren't able to piece together. All right. That's true. I doubt you're going to be doing Instagram posts, brother. Never say never. Yeah. We did record another episode. it'll drop in January because it's a good episode.
Starting point is 01:31:52 But Quinn's right. I did to preview all of an episode. It was supposed to be released in November. Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be a white-spoil episode. So if we talk about stuff that doesn't make sense, you know, in the timeline of reality, that's because it was actually supposed to be released in November.
Starting point is 01:32:11 But that's all right. So yeah, that's how we're going to wrap up the year. Thank you to everyone. for sticking around listening to us blabber on about music this year. Yeah, this was a big year for us. We made it to episode 300 this year.
Starting point is 01:32:30 That's right, man. And at this episode count, it's going to take us a long time to get to episode 400. So stick around. We'll be there eventually if we stick with this. But yeah.
Starting point is 01:32:44 Anyway, yeah, thank you, everybody, for listening this year. We appreciate all of our listeners and you know we're going to try to solicit your input more throughout the year I think because you know we got some listeners to respond to us and send us messages on Instagram every once and a while and we always appreciate it so we're going to try to encourage more interaction with listeners which means I'm out of maybe I'm going to start posting on an Instagram queue that's how you do it apparently yeah and anyway we'll see all right well we're going to close this out
Starting point is 01:33:19 here with, I don't know, Q. What's another track we could close us out on? Let me just look through. Let me just look through my last year. I feel like you, yeah, I feel like you get to close us out since you have an abundance of tracks. Otherwise, I would just play another chat pile song and I don't think I want to, we don't want to close out on metal.
Starting point is 01:33:40 So, no, no, no, I mean, I, I would love to. Actually, there's an, actually, I got, actually, I got it. You got too slow because I got another excellent mount. Mount Erie track. So we're going to do that. We're going to close out on a Mount Erie track because, like I said, this guy's fucking awesome, dad. And this song is great.
Starting point is 01:34:02 So it's only a minute 29, so we'll just play the whole thing. Okay. Well, thanks again, as always, for listening. We will be back in your feeds in 2025. My name is Travis. And I'm Quinn. And this song is called Empty Paper Toulroll by Mount Erie. We'll see you guys next year.
