And I'm Travis. And on this is what you heard, we're kicking things off with a brand new song from Jack White. This song is called It's Rough on Rats
Starting point is 00:01:31 Man, that just reminded me of the kind of stuff he was writing on the elephant days of white stripes. Like it's a return, just like the just down and dirty guitar, straightforward. It's so nice to hear, man. blues rock kind of stuff and he's dude he's one of the best guitar players of all time no doubt i agree
Starting point is 00:04:38 especially like like on on on my top 10 list i think he'd make the list with like yeah no no one sounds like him on the guitar and no one ever will he's he's so expressive yeah dude you know and just like it just his guitar playing style is just so like aggressive and like aggressive and expressive dude yeah and just gritty dirty and yeah it's just it's just great don't forget nitty i can't forget nitty nitty and gritty yeah yeah dude so he dropped a no-name album july 19th and it's kind of cool the way he he approached this is kind of like in this like guerrilla marketing fashion he it was a surprise release he didn't like there was no like hey this record's coming up you know no like no single dropped from it or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:05:31 And at his third man record shops, people at the cash register would slip in an uncredited white-sleeved pressing of it into the bags of the customers. So they would just slip it in with whatever record that they purchased. So you would get home and be like, what the heck is this? You put it on and you'd be like, is that Jack White? You know, that's awesome. So it just said, it wasn't even labeled. Like I know the album was called No Name, so.
Starting point is 00:05:56 No Name. I think he just went with that because that was kind of how it all started. Man, I guess if you're shopping at the third man record store, I guess you wouldn't be too shocked. Like they wouldn't throw you off too much. Be like, oh, oh, I think this is a new Jack White album. You know, because like that's his record label. Right. But still, like, can you imagine how exciting that would be?
Starting point is 00:06:14 I'd be like, I think you guys, you know, accidentally slipped me. And somehow this got my bag. I don't know how I got here. And they would just go home and play it, dude. Yeah. Get out of here. Dude, the album is so awesome. I don't know you haven't had a chance yet.
Starting point is 00:06:29 It is so awesome, dude. I don't need any more convincing. I mean, not that I would have needed any convincing, but like that, yeah, if that's the style of Jack White that we're getting for this new record, then sign me up, dude. Yeah, dude. It's freaking great. Yeah, man, got me pumped. I thought it'd be a good way to kick off the show tonight.
Starting point is 00:06:51 For those of you who don't know, this is our monthly mixtape, where we each bring five songs to the table, just what's that? what we've been heard in between songs, in between our deep dive episodes. So, Travis, I think you're starting us off this time around, what you got for us. You're thinking correct, Q. I am kicking us off. So I'm going to just, I'm just going to get us floating around the room for the first pick here, dude. Yeah, you're going to love it. So I think we talk about this group a lot.
Starting point is 00:07:29 one of two groups that this is a that this uh that this uh fine gentleman uh sings for talking about mark moklehai cue oh of polaris and a miracle legion so i went and just was in the mood for for some miracle legion and then i was like you know what let me pull up some of his solo work because i've never really dug into it before he's got lots of solo records that he's put out So I pulled up the 2019 record called The Gus, and I'm just going to play a song off of this record. He is one of my favorite singer-songwriters of all time, dude, hands down. He's just so great. Yeah, he's got such a great boy.
Starting point is 00:08:11 His lyrics are always great. His singing style is pretty awesome. Very like quintessential jangle pop alt rock of like the 90s, right? that sound. There's nothing, you know, if you want to just get a summary of him, just listen to Hey, Sandy, right? The theme song to Pete and Pete from Nickelodeon. That's who this guy is. Anyway.
Starting point is 00:08:39 So, yeah, let's just play this track here, Q, you're going to love it. This song is called Taking Baby Steps. Classic Molka Hot Q. And when did that album come out? 2019. What? Yeah. So he's,
Starting point is 00:11:39 I mean, he's put out a handful. I mean, it seems like he, if you want to see his, his, his, all of his releases,
Starting point is 00:11:45 go to his band camp. Because he, he just puts out singles all the time on band camp. Like, he's got new stuff that dropped this year. Several songs that dropped this year. Dang. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:11:56 But, yeah, so he's just a prolific, a songwriter. But yeah, I love Miracle Legion. obviously the music that they put out as Polaris for that Nickelodeon show, like I said, Pete and Pete. Amazing record.
Starting point is 00:12:15 You can listen to that. It's its own separate release, right? But yeah, always love listening to this guy. Like I said, one of my favorite singer-songwriters of all time. All right. So again, that was Mark Mokohai. That song was called Taking Baby Steps. I'm going to pass it to you.
Starting point is 00:12:31 What's your first pick? Well, let me tell you something. this is this is real special you know why because i'm bringing a song from the adventures of beat and beat this is just something dude now now now is it a paleris track or is it no just the song okay no so i just so this wasn't oh this wasn't planned like obviously no this was i was going to play the song tonight wow dude it's almost like we're twin brothers it's almost like we're twins um yeah so this well okay go ahead cue i was about to I was about to do your intro for you because I know exactly what you're about to say.
Starting point is 00:13:09 I was going to say, well, this is, so this is just a random playlist that I found on Spotify. So I can't, you know, like, I can't tell you which episode this came on. Or if I didn't come on it at all. Here's the thing. I also followed that at the same playlist. And I found out that not all the songs on that playlist were featured on the show. Okay. Which is kind of confusing.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Because some of the songs on there, I was like, there's no. way this song was on there. And I tried to like dig deeper and I couldn't find anything else to back it up. But that doesn't matter. I think what it's supposed to be is like here are yeah, here are songs that are sort of like in the same style as the stuff you would hear on P&B. Because like that was one of the great things about the show is that they would play a bunch of like alt rock 90 stuff shoegay stuff. Well like drop 19 is Delaware is on here. But it wasn't on the show. That's what saying. I looked it up because I was so I think that was the same one I was like because I was so like intrigued by the idea that I may have heard drop 19s as a kid watching that show
Starting point is 00:14:11 and never knew it, you know what I mean? But I couldn't find any proof that that song was on the show. Anyway. Well, yeah, and I didn't dig deeper here either, but great track here from Luscious Jackson. Have you ever heard of them? No. So this is interesting. They're mentioned as an alternative rock slash rap rock group formed in 91.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Not getting a hint to rap on the song I'm bringing, but they were on the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal label. So perhaps they dropped some rap in their day. They had one, like only one chart-topping song called Naked Eye. Anyways. This is a song from the very first album called In Search of Manny. It came out in 92.
Starting point is 00:15:03 This song is called Satellite. That tempo and style change, that was awesome. I was not expecting that, and that was amazing. If that song wasn't on The Adventures of Pete and Pete, it should have. It may have been, though. That's the thing. This playlist has songs that were actually featured on the show, so you may have to Google it up, Q. Yeah, if you want to hear us talk about that show in greater depth, we have a whole episode devoted to Polaro.
Starting point is 00:17:50 us. We have a whole episode devoted to Miracle Legion. But yeah, that show was groundbreaking, man. There he is, dude. There's, there's Malka High. Well, so yeah, I'm trying to look it up and see. So this is from K-E-X-P. They have, this is a, I guess just an article called Welcome to Wellsville, the Top Ten Musical Cameos in the Adventures of Pete and Pete. Let's see where Luscious Jackson shows up. Luscious Jackson are booked to play the school dance in the episode Dance Fever. There you go, dude. They played satellites. Playing songs.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Yeah, they played satellite. Okay. So this song was, was in fact played and they were live. They were actually on the show. That's awesome, dude. Yeah, I don't remember the guy's name. Again, like, go listen to our episode on Polaris. But we should credit, you know, the creator of the show, like the showrunner,
Starting point is 00:18:44 like the creator of Pete and Pete was the one who we can thank for all the amazing music that was featured and all the musical guests because he was like a huge music guy, you know, and that's why you have, you know, Michael Stipe from R.E.M. shows up in that, in that television show, right? I think Blondie was in the show. Iggy Pop was in the show. Yeah. So just crazy, man. Anyway, super cool. All right, man. You're going to, are we going to pull a 180? I think we should. Because I have a song that, like, that should follow that one. Like, if you were trying to, you know, stay in the theme, but I'll save it for later. So let me mix it up here for us.
Starting point is 00:19:22 Okay. I've been sitting on this artist for a while, and I'm not even going to bring this artist. I'm going to bring a song that I found off of a playlist that this artist curates on Spotify, which I know is something you love to do, Q. I'm all about that. I always look to see if a ban I'm into has any playlists on Spotify. Yeah. So here's the thing. This particular artist, I'm going to talk about the artist anyway.
Starting point is 00:19:52 They go by the name of Avith Ortega. Basically, if you've ever played a Silent Hill video game, which is probably a lot of you, think that type of music. So basically like the Silent Hill soundtracks are kind of iconic because they're this really interesting. I may have even brought, I think I brought a song from a Silent Hill game long, long time ago to either a sidetrack or what you heard episode. But they're just these really sort of like kind of melancholic, like, piano, but also like down tempo. Creepy, obviously, because it's silent now. Anyway, so this artist, Avith Ortega,
Starting point is 00:20:31 curates a playlist on Spotify called Silent Hill Vives. Nice. And they put, you know, they threw a bunch of their own songs on there because it's, you know, that's the whole point. But also a bunch of other artists. So this is one of the artists that was on that playlist. This is a new album came out this year by a group called A Thousand Eyes. Could just be one person, could be a group, I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:20:58 Anyway, this is an awesome down-tempo record. I'll just put it that way. And if you like Silent Hill, this album is for you. And it's got one of the creepiest album arts of all time, cube. Check that out. You see that? I don't like that. What's happening and why?
Starting point is 00:21:18 Exactly. All right. So this song is called Demon Graphics. I guess I didn't know I was into Silent Hill vibes, dude. Dude. That was awesome. If you're into that, you've got to listen to the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack. I was getting some like massive attack, Portis Head.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Yeah, trip hop. A little bit of vapor wave even, maybe? Just a little bit. Maybe a little bit. Big fan though. Is that how the whole album sounds? Yeah, pretty much. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:01 If you listen to anything from Ava Thortega, they are dialed in to that exact sound. It literally just sounds like you're listening to unreleased music from Silent Hill video games. But this is an amazing playlist. There's 15 hours of songs on this thing. And there's a lot of artists queue that you and I know and love. Quantic is on here. Dude, send it my way, please. Right now.
Starting point is 00:25:28 It's on Spotify. Just search Silent Hill vibes. You'll see it. You're going to make me type stuff, dude? Boards of Canada is on here. Portis Head. There you go, Q. Portis Head's on here.
Starting point is 00:25:41 Underworld is on here. So yeah, this got some great stuff. Anyway, so yeah, that was... Nice, man. Demon Graphic by a thousand eyes. Go listen to the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack because that's kind of like the origin for the touch point for this kind of stuff.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Anyway, so I'm saving Avaith Ortega. I am going to bring them to the... our best of because they did put out a new record this year. So anyway, all right, Q, surely you're going to switch it up on us again because I don't think you're going to have a track that's going to be in that, in that ballpark, I don't think. I think I can do something a little bit in that vein. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:20 Intrigued. All right, dude. So I'm bringing a song from, this is a band that I feel like I should have known because this is a style of electronic music that I kind of like find myself falling back into every now and then. I was really into this kind of stuff like, I don't know, maybe like five or six years ago. Have you heard of a group called Weevil? W-E-V-A-L. That sounds familiar.
Starting point is 00:26:52 Yeah, it sounds really familiar. Well, they're bringing more like, I don't know how to describe it, dude. It's, it's, I would say it's more music that you could like, like if you were into like, I don't know, fusion dance scene. If you were like a dancer and you went out to dance. Do I look like a, don't look like a dancer cute? No, you don't, Jeff. But this is the kind of stuff that you'd be seeking out. So I were talking about like, like rave club.
Starting point is 00:27:23 electronic house kind of stuff okay that works yeah it's hard to describe but I mean raven house are two very different things so yeah but yeah this is Sarah and I were into this kind of stuff for a long time actually I brought a song from an artist who goes by sawn while back I don't know if you remember that one but anyways that same same kind of vibe anyways all right so this is an album by Weevil from 23 called remember this song is called
Starting point is 00:27:53 everything went well. Yeah, that was great, man. Excellent blend of like electronic and sort of, you know, more, you know, like that guitar that they threw in there. This reminded me of a lot of the music that we covered on our music blog. Really? Yeah, of, like, think about, like, you know, bands like cut copy or, you know, some of those types of groups, you know, where it was like a little bit of electronic, but like with
Starting point is 00:30:35 it sort of an indie pop kind of vibe to it, you know what I mean? I'm reminded of Geographer, which I believe we featured a few times on New Dust. Yeah, they kind of had that. Look at that, dude. They were putting stuff out in the 2010s, man, early 2010s. 2013. I see an EP there, 2013. That was their first one, at least shown up on spot. Okay. And I just, I just discovered this group. So I'm, you know, I got to dive, dive into these. But yeah, really good stuff. Cool.
Starting point is 00:31:07 Good layer building as we like to talk about. Good. I like the vocals. Good stuff. Weevil. Weeble. Bole Weevil. That's the president of the United States of America I would sing about.
Starting point is 00:31:21 Dude, let me just say, I just love that I still get to have a little piece of presidents in the form of Casper baby pants in my life. Yep. I know. You tell me about him all the time. He's freaking great, man. And I got a surprise for you at our best of 2024. Is it a Casper Baby Pants song, Q? Nope.
Starting point is 00:31:43 Okay. Just leave it at that. All right, all right. All right, Treve. Now, can we pull a 180? Yeah, I guess we'll pull a 180. It's not like a drastic 180. We're, you know, but this is definitely a change of pace.
Starting point is 00:32:00 I'm taking us back to our roots queue. Awesome. It's the very first episode of no feel. The roots of this podcast. Of this pod. And kind of the roots of us, too, I guess. But do you remember the first episode? I'm ashamed right now.
Starting point is 00:32:16 I thought it was Allison Chains. It was Allison Chains' cue. Okay. Now, I'm not bringing an Allison Chains track. I got no roots in Allison Chains. I'm just going to ignore that because that hurts me to my core. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:32:31 I'm going to play a track a somewhat new track by Jerry Cantrell. You don't know who that is. So I'll be going to fill you in, Q. He is the guitar player and like background backup vocalist for for Allison Chains. And, you know, has put out his own solo stuff
Starting point is 00:32:52 you know, since the 90s. Anyway, he put out a new track in July called Villefied. I believe he has a whole new record out, or at least this is a single probably for an up-and-coming record. Anyway, Jerry Cantrell, he is basically every awesome guitar riff that Allison Chains put out was because of this guy here. One of the best guitar riffers of all time. And he still got it, Q. So here we go. This song is a brand new single from Jerry Cantrell.
Starting point is 00:33:25 The song is called vilified. Not my typical cup of tea. Dude, that's Allison Chains, dude. That song just has classic Allison Chains, like vibes all over it. The singing style as well, and that's the thing. Like, Jerry, his vocals are all over Allison Chains. Because, like, that was part of what made them so cool is they had this awesome, like, you know, harmonizing, like, dual vocalist. type thing on a lot of their songs. Obviously, Lane Staley was like the main vocalist, obviously,
Starting point is 00:37:23 but like Jerry Cantrell, I think, wrote a lot of the music for Alice Chains and, like, came up with the idea to do the harmonizing and stuff like that. So, like, he was like one of the main, like, creative forces behind that group. That was awesome, man. It was all over the place, too. Like, he really changed it up a lot in that song. Yeah, he's such a great guitar player. One of the best. Yeah, dude. Some of the greatest guitar rips of all time. is this gentleman right here to Jerry Cantrell. So there you go, Vailified, brand new track. I'm sure there's another album coming out perhaps soon.
Starting point is 00:37:55 We'll see. But if not, it's an awesome, awesome single. And yeah, if, you know, if this is like, wow, I've never listened to Alice in Chains before, you should go listen to Alice and Chains because that's it, you know, go listen to Dirt. That's their, they're one of their best records. I'm familiar with Dirt, thanks to No Filler. Thanks to our first episode. Yeah. But anyway.
Starting point is 00:38:18 All right, Q, back at you. How are you going to switch us up? Because I know you can't bring the heat like Jerry can. Trill. A good one. You want to talk about going back to our roots, Chaff? Let's talk about it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Then, no, this isn't a true going back because this is a brand new record, man. But let me tell you something. I was going to save this for our best of, but I was just too pumped when I heard. This is going to be the first truck. that you hear on this record. And I was, it got me pumped, brother. Let me read this opening paragraph, I guess.
Starting point is 00:38:58 I'm on the edge of my seat right now, dude. Well, get ready. All right, here's what pitchfork has to say about it. This is their review. Pitchfork. Artist is called Wishy. Album is called Triple Seven. It says here, you may have heard that Shugays is having a moment.
Starting point is 00:39:14 and that it's embraced by a new generation of moody teens has pushed the genre beyond further reverbed drenched horizons. Wishy, a five-piece act hailing from Indianapolis, put their own spin on the trend. Last year's Paradise EP featured callbacks to the band's Midwest emo roots while paying homage to Pale Saints and Jimmy Eat World in equal measure. Their full-length debut Triple Seven builds upon that wistful sound. You might call it,
Starting point is 00:39:44 emo gaze or gaze pop and matches it to the lethargic possibilities of a suburban summer's dog days. I do. I love a good third wave emo track cue. Love it. Oh, man. Just get ready. I'm ready.
Starting point is 00:40:00 Here we go, dude. Opening track off of Triple Seven from Wishy. This song is called Sick Sweet. Love it, dude. It made me feel like I'm in high school again, man. I know. I know. That vocal styles, dude.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Well, what I love about that is, like, the guitar styles are kind of a little shoegazy, which is cool. Like, I like, that's what I like about the new, the new shoegaze bands, if you want to, you know, the label is just being thrown around everywhere these days. But, like, it seems like, we've said this before, the elements of shoegaze pair well with any other style of rock, it seems like, any other style. Yeah, dude. Yeah, any genre, doesn't even have to be not just rock. Yeah, exactly. You've got grunge gaze, right? that's a term and you would put like narrow head would probably be considered like grunge gaze.
Starting point is 00:42:33 Yeah. What do they call this? Emo gays. Emo gays. That's what I'm saying. Gays pop. Exactly. You put it on anything because, yeah, there's just, you know, it's basically just loud reverb,
Starting point is 00:42:47 drenched guitars like they were saying in the pitchboard article. But yeah, dude, that was great. And yeah, you know, as corny as that emo stuff is, like it just, we were the right age for it and like you know I'm still I have a lot of nostalgia for that kind of stuff and it's yeah I'm here for it dude dude those lyrics too man I love him right what's he say he says uh you're like an afterlife and I really want to die tonight he says again I mean that's a dude how many my space pages had that as like their little intro or whatever that that type of a
Starting point is 00:43:24 saying you know what I mean that corny freaking freaking that you write on your forearm and stuff. Yeah. Yeah, dude. And then he said later on, he goes, every touch feels like an afterlife and I really want to die tonight. So how old is this guy? I don't know, man.
Starting point is 00:43:39 Okay, but this is a new band, right? It's like this guy's been doing. Yes. Okay. Yes, it's their debut record. And here's the thing, Jeff. You listen to track two? Almost sounds like a different band because there's a female vocalist
Starting point is 00:43:53 that is equally front and center in the group. Is she more dream poppy with her vocals? Very much so. Kind of breathy and stuff? Okay, cool. Very much so. I'm all about it, dude. You want to hear track two?
Starting point is 00:44:07 Let's outro with it. How about that? No, that's fine. We'll play out with it. Well, I was going to say, Q, um, it's funny because that wishy album was on my release radar last week and I didn't listen to it. Oh, man. I just didn't get around to it.
Starting point is 00:44:21 So there you go. All right. Um, as we say on the show, a lot of Q. The 90s is a bottomless pit of amazing bands. Alt rock grunge bands, right? They're everywhere. Bottomless. Bottomless. And here's another great one. 1992. There's a group called Luna. Have you ever heard of them? I can't confidently say that I have, but it sounds familiar. Does this album art look familiar to you? No, it doesn't.
Starting point is 00:44:57 But that screams 90s. You're in for treats, dude. Treats. So this guy, very interesting vocal styles, this guy. So are you familiar with a group called Galaxy 500? Yeah, dude. Okay. So this is the lead singer. His name is Dean Wareham, formed Luna after the breakup of his other band, Galaxy
Starting point is 00:45:25 500. Okay, wow. So there you go. Cool. All right, so we're going to play a track off of their 1992 record Luna Park. Again, this is Luna. This song is called Slash Your Tires. That reminded me of like Lou Reed or something like that. Now that's kind of stretching a little bit, but, you know, like kind of like, yeah, like you said, lazy kind of vocal delivery.
Starting point is 00:49:08 I like you know, spoken word kind of thing. not really melodic. But yeah, the record kind of surprised me. Again, it's called Luna Park. Some of it is a lot more guitar-driven and like melodic and stuff, but I really kind of put it in the vein of like the jangle pop if I could use that term again. Or Tweed flavor of the 90s rock umbrella.
Starting point is 00:49:35 I think Tweed is the weirdest genre. Tweed. It does sound weird. It just sounds weird. Yeah, I agree. All right. So that was called Slash Your Tires by Luna. And I'm going to throw it back to you, Q. What do you have for us?
Starting point is 00:49:50 All right, dude, guess what I'm bringing? What are you bringing? I'm bringing a children's song trap. You want to know why? Because you're a father. Because I hear it all the time. Yeah. This is, you know, this is accurate.
Starting point is 00:50:06 This is what you have heard. Exactly. But since we last recorded, I watched your own episode. Here's the thing. I'm going to try to go my entire life without Ronan ever hearing the baby shark song or anything, any cocoa melon BS. And I'm sure there's other parents that are listening that are in agreeance with me here. There are probably parents listening that made the mistake of showing their child. I know if you have one of those songs.
Starting point is 00:50:41 It's garbage. It's absolute garbage. So here, this is an artist. His name is Daniel Tashin. His main gig is not writing children's albums. But he wrote this, he's actually got two children's albums out now. This one is called Mr. Moonlight, and he wrote it with his daughters during quarantine. Isn't that special? It says here, it's a desire to connect with your kids. Okay. This is a quote from him. It's a desire to connect with their kids and to share the joy of music with them and to enjoy being a little window into their viewpoint of the world.
Starting point is 00:51:20 I would ask them what they're interested in, and that's how we develop our lyrics. I'll end it there, dude, before it gets too sappy. But this is a... I'm going to say it, dude. I think you're going to like this song. How old is daughters? I think that's important. Let me see if this mentions it, because my guess is probably like,
Starting point is 00:51:41 I would say between the ages of 8 and 12 or 13, just based on how they sound on the record. Okay, so they're singing on the record. Oh, yeah. Here we go. Okay, so Tiger Lily, who's 8, awesome, awesome name, and her twin sisters, Matilda and Tinkerbell.
Starting point is 00:52:00 So they're six. So twin sisters who are six, dude, you got to think Tinkerbell's like, really, guys. Well, then we got Tiger Lily. It's like I could have been Tiger Lily and you went with Tinkerbell. There we go. Daniel Tashen and his daughters. This song is called If I Built a House.
Starting point is 00:52:25 Hey Tiger Lily. What are you working on? Oh, me and my sisters, we're just drawing, you know, some stuff that we would add into a house if we'd let one. What is that, a slide? Oh, yeah, that's a slide. I never thought of putting a slide in the kitchen. Adorable. You know, I might come off as a...
Starting point is 00:54:44 heartless, childless curmudgeon. Yeah. But, you know, I get it. That's adorable. I like the fact that this exists, that's what a,
Starting point is 00:54:56 what a, what a gift, you know, for them. I know. To listen back on this when they're older, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:55:02 Yeah, dude. It's adorable, dude. It's amazing. That's awesome. Yeah. He sings along with him in some of the songs. That's cool.
Starting point is 00:55:10 Yeah. I mean, dude, if I, I get it, man. Like, during quarantine and stuff, like what else you're going to do? Get creative and write some songs with the daughters, man. Yeah, that's awesome.
Starting point is 00:55:21 Especially, I'm sure he has, well, it was quarantine, so of course he has a home studio to record. So is he a children's singer? No. Or is he, okay. No, dude. So he puts out. He does his own stuff, man. His own stuff.
Starting point is 00:55:35 Okay, interesting. He just has two kids albums that are Grammy nominated, apparently. but no he does he's he's just a normalized singer i don't i don't really know what his style is outside of this album but i just know that he's not you know he's not casper baby pants he's no chris blue you know what i'm saying it's a world that i'll never be in here to this world of children and music but uh you know i'm sure there are people out there listening maybe that appreciate hearing that i thought it was a good song that had like a cool like kind of of Casano or Basanova kind of
Starting point is 00:56:13 shuffle to it in the background and stuff like that It wasn't a bad song I enjoyed it And that's I'm hoping that there's other Parents with you know Two to three to four year olds That are just like if I hear A Cocoa Lemon or whatever Cocoa Melon song
Starting point is 00:56:32 One more time Right They're looking for more stuff to listen to Check out this album Mr. Moonlight And then dive into Casper Baby Pants Okay, that's all I'm going to say. I'm done.
Starting point is 00:56:45 I mean, we've brought, Casper, you brought him once or twice. I think twice now. So I don't think it, if you've been listening. It's what I've been heard, dude, you know? It's, yeah, I hear you. Over and over. And over. Do you, I mean, do you even hear it at a certain point?
Starting point is 00:57:01 You're probably not even hearing it. It just goes in one ear at the other. I really like his music. Right. It's just the background of your life. I'm into it. All right, Tribe, you got one last pick. I think I've actually got a good follow-up, believe it or not, do that song.
Starting point is 00:57:18 I don't believe it. So this is not a children's artist, but this is a group I think that you're familiar with, Q, called Peel Dream Magazine. Yes, sir. That is some straight-up shoe gaze. Shugays Dream Pop. There are more of the Dream Pop side of the coin, Q. I've brought a track from them to No Filler. That might have been on the obscure shoe-gays.
Starting point is 00:57:41 A's episode that we did. I don't think so, but I know I brought them before. Yeah, they put out a new record. So, sweet. And they put out several singles leading up to it. I don't think the record has released yet. But it's called Rose Main Reading Room. It is supposed to come out in a couple weeks.
Starting point is 00:58:03 Well, by the time this episode drops, it'll probably be released. So it comes out September 4th. That's either in the future. or the past cue, depending on when this episode comes out. But here we go. This is going to be, I think a good follow-up to Mr. Moonlight. The song is called Wish You Well. It's a lot, really, with their sound.
Starting point is 01:00:23 Yeah, it doesn't get much better than that. Really cool. Anyway, so yeah, the record is called Rose Main Reading Room. Should be out by the time this episode drops. That song was called Wish You Well, the band Peel Dream. magazine. All right, Q, good luck following that. All right, dude, we're going to wrap things up with some dandy warhols.
Starting point is 01:00:43 And I've got to say, dude, I've never really got into them. And this is like the number four popular song of theirs on Spotify. So this is probably nothing. So if you're a fan of the band, this is old news, yeah. This is from the Dandy Warhol's Come Down from 97. And this is just a doozy of a track, dude. This one's called Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth. And that's how you ended up episode here with a track like that.
Starting point is 01:03:35 Yeah, I really don't know much about these guys. I got to have a bit. I was what I was about to say, man. Yeah, me neither. But that's just straightforward, kind of like, almost like punkish kind of song, you know? Yeah, yeah. If I had to guess, so I'm. So this is the 90s, right?
Starting point is 01:03:51 1997 okay yeah I think this was maybe on one of the episodes of the bear trying to think of where I could have heard it because I'm finally I Sarah didn't watch the first season with me when I first watched it and I never got around to season two season three so we're finally cranking through him are you you not cut up yet we're on season two okay but um I won't say anything did yeah I could see this song being in the bear Dude, there's a lot of great music in that show. I want to say, yeah, oh yeah, definitely. I've actually brought a track.
Starting point is 01:04:28 I think the Duretys or something like that. I brought a song or the Duretti column, I think is what it was called. I've noticed there's a lot of Will Covenant. I think it's because they're from Chicago. They're from Chicago, exactly. I was going to say, I think they feature a lot of... It's like a love note to Chicago, I've noticed. Yeah, that's the whole show is about that.
Starting point is 01:04:44 Kind of like Ferry Spears Day Off. Yeah, you're right. I think that's kind of what the Bear does. It really highlights. Chicago restaurants, Chicago artists, Chicago musicians. It's just a phenomenal show. Yeah, really, really good. Did you like all the seasons?
Starting point is 01:05:02 I don't want to say anything about season three, dude. I don't want to spoil, but that's all I'll say. It's a good show. I love the show. It's one of my favorite shows of all time. Dude, you know, I was actually hoping that I could find a recording of the ballbreaker theme song. The arcade game?
Starting point is 01:05:21 Because it's freaking awesome. I was hoping I could find it. And I was going to bring that tonight. Because ball breaker. I can't. That's all I remember. But it's, I remember that scene.
Starting point is 01:05:33 Yeah, because I think like episode two or three, they have like a tournament. That may even the first episode. Oh, that's right. Yeah. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:05:39 because it's like a, it's like a rare arcade game, especially one that's like still running. So they were able to get a bunch of people through the door to do like a ball breaker tournament. Anyways. cue that that that arcade cabinet makes an appearance in season three i'm just going to put hey look at look at something to look forward to well that's it chav that's our that's a wrap
Starting point is 01:06:04 on our what's aired episode another another episode in the books that's right so we have we're getting we're just knocking on the door of our our year-end episodes queue um because we don't we don't really put two episodes out a month if that, you know what I'm saying? Very soon, dude, we'll be hit in the December just around the corner. I mean, it's a few months away, but still, with the amount of episodes that are left, it'll be here before you now. That's exciting, man.
Starting point is 01:06:38 I'm actually, I'm coming prepared this time, dude. I got 73 songs on my best. Dude, you've been doing it right. I haven't been doing that. Dude, we say this every year, man. I know, I know. Get started on that playlist. in January of 2025, okay?
Starting point is 01:06:53 I know, dude, I know. I mean, I've got a few built up, but I need to do my due diligence. But anyway, the only reason I'm saying that's because we're thinking about that, I guess, is because I'm trying to figure out how many deep dive episodes we have left until we hit December. So I think it's probably like six, if that. No, dude, it's already, we're all, dude, in 90s. Oh, you're right. It's almost September. month.
Starting point is 01:07:20 It's almost September. All right. So we have shit, man. Yeah. Okay. I think, I think, so I'm bringing the next deep dive and then you'll bring the one for October and then I'll bring the one for November. Okay.

Starting point is 01:07:56 See? Two shoutouts, Kevin. Two. I feel like that's probably three. Because we gave him a shout out earlier this episode. Well, I'm just saying two episodes, you know. He's been, he's in the club now, dude. You know?
Starting point is 01:08:10 Him and Mitchell, you know. Shout out to Mitch. In terms of multiple, multiple shoutouts. Yeah, Mitchell. Also, let me just, let me just say something, Mitchell. you blew my mind with that country sign that you sent me a couple weeks ago. He sent me the same one.
Starting point is 01:08:24 Well, brother, that's coming to our best of, man. I did like it. Was it the, what was the guy's name? I don't remember. Sorry, Mitch. But I've already got it saved on my best of. Sturgle. Yes, Sturgle, who is a very, very well-woman artist.
Starting point is 01:08:41 I think it must be one of Mitchell's favorite. Very well-known, very well-loved. I hear about Sturgle all the time. Well, yeah, freaking awesome track. It was a great track. Yep, agreed. Anyways, yeah, so we're going to wrap it up with track two off of Triple Seven from Wishy to kind of show the other side of their corn with their female singer and the group.
