No Jumper. Coolest podcast in the world. I'm very excited about this interview today. We've got Drex the Joint on No Jumper.
How you feeling, man?
Excited.
No, I'm excited to have you here. Actually, I feel like you have a lot of the pieces in place to be one of the bigger artists coming out of Southern California going forward.
I feel like you got the star power. I'm actually really on the music.
for real. What's your song?
You want me to go to this right now?
You should have been on the bag.
I should be able to name off every song.
But the one with Roddy has made its way onto my playlist.
So that's my dog.
Yeah, that one's hard.
That's actually the only one I have in the playlist.
I was planning on adding a few more here.
But I'm very impressed.
And I feel like you have an interesting story too
because you're coming from a part of California
that we're not usually used to hearing from.
Yeah.
Because I spent quite a bit of time in Santa Ana in my day.
Yeah, because that's where.
That's where the BMX companies are located out.
I don't know.
Have you seen a lot of people riding BMX bikes out there throughout your life?
Not really.
God damn it.
We need representation.
But cult bikes is out of there and like fit and S&M bikes are out of there too.
So we would always be going through there a lot.
Yeah, that's cold.
I don't even know that.
Oh, okay.
But, all right, so tell us a little bit about your upbringing.
What kind of family environment you were coming from and everything like that?
You know, I came from a big family.
I came from a, I grew up very, very, very, like,
in the Mexican family, like, talking about, like, one bedroom apartment with, like,
10 people in it.
Like, it was, like, I have, I grew up with, like, six of my siblings, so it was seven
it was, and my mom and my stepdad.
Basically, it was my, me and my mom, the majority of the time, and my step got on the
picture.
So just, like, all of that.
And then, yeah, I grew up, yeah, like, like, basically like that, like, with a big
ass, like, one bedroom apartment and shit.
Like, yeah, but it was, it was cool, smooth.
Yeah, like, my, my mom was always there for me.
It was cool, smooth.
Yeah, nothing.
And so what was your real?
relationship with your dad like um I know my dad I know he is but I don't keep contact with him
really when you were younger you were around them more the last time I seen him was when I was like
like um like three two oh okay yeah like yeah like yeah but I know he is he lives with my like my other
brother I never met he lives with him and then again you never really felt like going out of your
way to get to spend time around him no no really because he never like he never tried that he
he never tried that when I was like um when I was like what like three four years ago
but it's like too late you know well that's how i see it like it's like too late you feel like you
just kind of closed off emotionally yeah i just feel like it's like no point i don't know but i'm
just it was a good around mad you know definitely so what was your relationship with your mom like
my mom it was when i was growing up it was it was it was not good it was like it was like it was like
very like i don't know it's because i feel like she was like young she was young she had a bunch of us
you know so it was like hard it was really hard for but then like later on like like
Like, it was, it was hard for, it.
It was really hard for, you know, just raising, like, well, seven kids.
Seven kids.
Yeah, seven kids.
Holy shit.
Like, she was, she was, she's always just being my mom.
Like, she's been my mom and dad.
And then when I, when I came over here, when I came over here, like, that's when
my step back got in the picture, but she's, like, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's
all her life, you know, so it was hard for her.
And me, my mom was, like, like, we just always bumped head when I was smaller,
like, always, like, I was just, like, I was really a badass kid.
I was, like, a really bad kid.
But then later on, like, I was getting busted.
I was in a lot of doing it on.
It's like that.
I feel like the last time I was there, like, it really, like,
changed my perspective on everything.
Like, it made me closer with her.
Like, all this shit really made me closer with her.
So you had got arrested a bunch of times in juvenile hall
was where you're going when you were younger.
What was that like?
Did that kind of introduce you to a lot of shit?
I mean, yeah, it's just like my, I feel like I was just a part of it with my environment
through.
Like, it was just like, it was like, it's like, it's like,
normal thing growing up where I was growing up, you know?
Like, it's like, man, like, yeah, you're probably chipping out.
You're probably like, you're from Orange County.
Well, okay, so, yeah, to a lot of people who don't know,
Orange County typically has the reputation of being, like,
the kind of nicer part of Southern California that you might move to once you, like,
made it or some shit.
Like, people kind of tend to gravitate towards the O.C.
Or the valley in terms of, like, moving to a more quiet place.
But you also always hear that there are hoods and there is, like, you know,
shit going on in the, in the,
the OC as well. So from your perspective, though, like, you were growing up around a lot.
Yeah, like, it was, like, yeah. Like, especially when I was growing at, too, like, it was, like, it was
jumping. It was going on, like, right outside your door.
Like, jumping, it was, like, it was really popping. So, yeah, like, that's just, like, that's how
that came about, you know, just, like, being in the wrong crowd. Just like that. Yeah. But then, like,
yeah. So, okay, from, your mom's Mexican.
Yeah, I'm on Mexican. You're 100% Mexican. Well, people think you're mixed, or they would
take a look at you and assume that you were black. Yeah. Yeah. But, like,
There are a lot of Mexican people who look the way that you look.
We're just like a little bit less used to seeing them.
Yeah, like my family's part of the time.
Because my both of my parents, my mom and dad, they're from the same area.
Like literally from the same area.
Like, they're from the same blog, everything.
It's from the same part of town.
And right there, that part of town, like, it's like, there's a bunch of us.
Like, a bunch of people that look like that.
But in Mexico, it's like a known thing.
Like, nobody, everybody knows about that.
Like, if I were to go to Mexico, they wouldn't, like, like, right here,
they would look at me.
Like, you probably know, no Spanish.
You know, but they're, like, about talking Spanish, you wouldn't trip him out.
But growing up, was it an issue of confusion with some people who were looking at you thinking that you're a black?
I'm not growing up.
I'm growing up.
And I went out smaller.
It was never, I would never get that because I'm like, I don't know.
Probably because everybody knew.
And I was like around me, everybody knew.
Like, I was Mexican.
You know, and I wouldn't really like be around like strangers and shit.
Like that would like, you know?
But like now, like yeah.
It's like, yeah, it's like a, like, it's just like it just barely hit me, you know, about all this shit.
Just because like now you're in the media.
being posted on his Instagram pages and stuff
and now you probably got a lot of people trying to
figure out exactly what your deal is, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, so would you say
like, okay, so what kind of stuff
are you getting sent to juvenile haul for it
at a young age?
It's like little shit.
The first time,
I don't, honestly, I don't really want to speak
too much about that, like, my juvenile shit.
Like, I don't, I don't put nothing that shit out to birth.
Basically it was, like, majority of it was, like,
for violation and shit, because of my probation.
shit, but he was like my violation of this shit, little shit like that, you know, just like,
little shit and then just, yeah, that's, yeah.
Okay.
How did you do in school?
In middle, in elementary, I'm telling me, like, I was, like, a real badass kid.
So, like, I was always smart.
I was always a smart kid.
I would always, like, if, like, I was there, like, I would, like, I knew.
Another thing was, like, hard for me to understand, like, I was a smart ass kid, but I was just,
like, always, like, fidgeting.
Like, I would always have to be, like, doing dumb shit, you know?
So, like, I would be getting kicked out of school, this shit like that.
And then, yeah, like, my high school, my high school year, like, I wasn't going to school for my two, my freshman year.
I was going to school year.
My sophomore year, like, I wasn't really going to school either in that junior year.
I got some of the continuation right there.
That's where I was really doing good.
Okay.
I was going to school and everything.
So you kind of figured it out at one point that you wanted to take that shit more serious?
Not just that.
I just felt like, I just wanted to graduate just because, like, growing up, like, everyone to my mom, you know?
Like, I was like, this in the game going to be shit.
Everyone, like, just, you know, and I didn't want to do it for my mom, you know?
And so I just, I graduated like this past year.
Like I've been graduate, I've been done with school since like December, but I just like walked by this year, this past year.
Did it really mean a lot to your mom to see that?
Yeah, dude, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
For sure.
Definitely.
Was it hard to balance, though, like being just that you're having traction and rapping and everything?
Not really because because I just blew it up.
I just started, I'm barely starting to go up.
So when I got out, when I got done with school, which was December, like that's when I was barely coming up.
like December so like I was already out of school and everything so you're what like 19?
No I'm 18 18 still right now holy shit yeah I'm 18 damn so okay where did the idea to even
rap come from like when did that start to get put into your head?
I'm in June long yeah like just like rap it to my cellie just like that really yeah just like
yeah like rap was always like my thing it was always my thing it was like my way like coping
and everything like my my my my my shirt I was always my shit all the time I was always my
shit so you'd be writing raps down before you don't want to do that no no I wouldn't be writing I would
just be listening to music you know like just like that was always like my my shit yeah it was always
my shit but then like when i was gonna my just gonna my just when i would like be freestyle and like damn like
I'm like I realized you know I was like I'm some shit for so people were telling you that they
yeah like my son leaglia like you like you know really my hummys too my homie too be telling
that's when I really did it and yeah and I'm glad I did it because look at me known you know
facts yeah um so like what what's life like for a kid growing up in Santa Ana like you know I
I seen you talking about hanging out of the skate park and shit
because there are a lot of skate parks out there and stuff.
So that was kind of,
because they're just in a lot of the local parks and stuff.
Yeah, what's it like?
It's smooth.
Like, it's really smooth as long as, like,
you're not into that shit.
Like, you'll be cool.
Like, you'll be a little bit straight.
You just don't got to be in the maze
because if you are a nigga go finding on hood.
Like, what would you find you?
But, like, yeah, it's just like everywhere else, you know?
Like, you just, if you're like a normal ass kid,
like you're, like, not into that shit,
you'll be straight.
You got nothing more about it.
How into skating were you?
Not that.
Okay, so the thing with that,
what really got me into skating was, like, my older brother.
So, you know, like, I don't know if you have an older brother,
but, like, with me, it was always, like,
I would always do what my older brother do it, like, always did.
Like, I would always, like, follow his footsteps.
I never had an older brother, but I definitely see it.
Yeah.
With a lot of people where when they have an older brother, it helps them grow up faster.
Yeah, like, I was, like, starting.
But soccer, it was, like, first soccer, but, like,
my thing.
That was, like, mine, like, really, like, what I enjoy doing.
Like, it was really my shit.
You know how someone always has, like, something, like,
like they were like you know like for use like bmx right me without soccer so like yeah that's what
that was and then you know that's like my brother I don't know why I stopped I don't know why I think
my brother started getting into skating that's when I started getting to skating shit but it wasn't
really like something like I was like it was like it was not nothing compared like how I felt about soccer
you know that's how that came about but then I stopped because like I was just like you know
like I started like getting but it's just like they're getting into like do you step back from soccer
just because you started cracking off as a rapper no I don't know I've been I got been off like
like I've been off like like middle school but since I like I really like like I really like
like I really like I really like I really like I could like I know for sure like I would have made
something like that shit I was really good at soccer right I was like really my shit what do you
what do you blame for taking you away from soccer is it the street street street shit yeah but no no
no the rap she just started so I had nothing to do with it but it was a street shit for sure and the
reason for that is like okay so like where I where I used to live like it was like it was a park
where I would always go, like, or, like, run in front of me,
and I would always go there, like, to play.
But then when I started getting it with the street, shit,
I couldn't be out like that.
I couldn't be out in the area and shit.
So, like, I, like, just blocked me away.
And also, like, everybody knew me, you know?
Like, if you see me, because, like, when I'm from,
the part of time I'm from, I just not really, like,
dark-skate people, there's not really, like, you know?
So, like, I stand out, you know?
So, like, you see me, like, I'll stand out, you know?
Like, I'm not, you know?
So, like, it.
Like, I just, like, back me away and shit.
I was just like, yeah, I would have said I grew out of it
because I still like, I still fuck with it, you know?
Like, I still want to do it.
I'll still do it, you know, but.
Because you see a lot of people like Phoenix from Sri Lanka
comes to mind where like he probably fell back with the skating
once he started popping as a rapper.
But now as he gets a little older and stuff,
I see him like tapping back in with it.
We've been talking about going to a skate park
and doing a vlog and shit like that.
Yeah, I feel like that.
So maybe as you get a little more comfortable
with your success and everything.
Yeah, probably.
I just like south the way you should like moving like a nice side area
so definitely so okay I didn't actually like watch you talk about this but I saw it
in a title for another clip but you were saying that you were living in your
enemy territory at a certain point yeah how did that happen it's honestly it is
okay so where I grew up it was like it was like that's what my enemy's neighbor
that's where I big grew up like I always grew up right there but I I'm for
I'm from another section, like it's like part of, like, it's like a different section.
So like, that's how'd I explain it.
All right.
So right there where I used to live, like my enemies, I always lived, I grew up right there, everything.
But I didn't be comfortable in that section.
I didn't become from that hood.
I became from a different section.
Right.
So like, lay like, yeah, that's all that happened.
I became, I came from another section.
Yeah, that's what that happened.
And it gets pretty crazy out there.
That's one thing I realized from watching your shit is like I'm watching.
there's like police clips like running from the beginning or like news clips running in the
beginning of some of your videos and stuff talking about how much messy-ass shit there is going on
out there which I feel like the average person from LA would not know that yeah yeah yeah but
yeah that's all yeah that's all I saw I was saying like probably thing like I don't was kind
like but yeah like it's like it's like every road it's like I'm telling you like every
every side has like a ghetto to me you know like every side has a ghetto to me do you do you look at like
when you were getting into rapping and shit, were you thinking that there's anybody from your area
that you could look at as a success story, or you feel like you're one of the first people
to come out, right?
Really?
Like, I'm really, like, one of the more than to come out.
That's what, like, that's how, just really makes me feel good, you know, because, like,
you can't, like, no one has ever, like, really good pop up in like that from my area, you know?
Right.
That's what, like, I really, like, I take pride in this shit, like, I really do.
Like, it makes me feel good for my people, my city, my whole county, you know?
Is that part of what motivates you?
because you know that a lot of the kids where you're from don't necessarily have like a role model
or something that they can look at as being successful in entertainment from their area?
Yeah, yeah, that's for sure, yeah.
And that's why, like, I just like, so I just think about, like, staying out the way because, like,
I'm really like, I'm like the hope for this, too, for, like, just, like, break barriers, you know,
just like, it's just like, because, like, now that I'm popping, like, people would look more at us,
you know, like, like, the county, like, more people start breaking out, you know, out of, like, my area and shit.
And I was like, it'll make me feel good, you know?
Like, I'm not a greedy nigga.
Like, I always, like, try to, like, I always want to just sign, you know?
Right.
For sure, always.
So are you already kind of having to make the decisions about what you rap about?
Because it's like, I feel like you, being from the environment that you're from,
you could easily rap about a bunch of negative street shit,
or you could try to be a little bit more positive and, like, think about the impact
that your shit's going to have on kids.
What's your outlook on that?
Oh, nah.
I'm still going to talk shit on it.
dude
that ain't
I feel like
just like
the day thing
shit like
because what I've been
seen like
now that I've been popping
off like a lot of like
like like
rapping
it's just starting to rap
like I'm really
motivating nicks to rap
through
and like I've been thinking like
damn like
I'd be dissing
and I'd be like
what if I just keep dishing
with people like my
my fans be like
what the fuck is that
and they start rapping
right
they'll go to that way
you know
I've seen this happened
many times
man that's what I don't want
that's what I don't want
so I'm like just like yeah
I'm just to stop this.
I'm just like, talk shit, but not just like, you know,
I'm just like, you know, I'm just like, yeah, that's what I don't want to.
Hell, no.
You don't want to encourage anyone?
I want everyone for my condy to shine, except for them niggies on the hood.
Shit, f*** that.
But you don't think that as you develop as artists and stuff that at some point
you're going to just want to, like, speak for your area as a whole?
Yeah, nah, I'll leave the niggas out the same sidelines for one of the hood.
I'm screwed from my area, but shit, me just, let me say in the bleachers.
Yeah, so it's like real animosity.
Yeah, hell yeah, that's it.
Yeah, I see, okay.
But all right, so you got the rapping bug while you were locked up, then you get out.
How do you like keep pursuing it?
Like, do you know anybody who was able to help you sort of start progressing musically?
Not, not music-wise, no.
No, music-wise, no.
I just like really, like, just did this shit like on my own, fru-frue, like, it all started with like freestyle.
Like, my homies, what about my homies too?
like they really play a big part because they would like take me everywhere like you know they
play the big part like when my freestyle when my first started coming out i know you see that
was always in my homies it was like in a car just like that like that's what you know but it was just that
though like i don't really like have like i don't really see no one like doing it you know but i just like
i just like i just like i just like i was a shit that you were listening to all through high school
and shit for i was just so many shit like it's so like mafia like for the bass like what everyone
listen to
Fraschala Mafia
was
damn I can't even
everyone I got in so many interviews
I mean I got
out of all the interviews
they ask me the same question
I can't think of
but I'll be listening to
all type of shit for
right
right
right
what was your perspective
on Los Angeles
growing up though
do you feel like a real
strong connection to it
or do you feel like
you're from some
completely separate shit
no not really
I'm just like
LA's just LA
I'm from OC
you know
I really take part of like
that's that's that's that's
that's them you know
That's not me
But growing up, did your family
You know, take you to Los Angeles
To do certain things?
Not really.
You're in your own fucking bubble out there.
No, like, I'm really,
honestly,
With ever since the rap show,
I really started coming out here.
Like, I really started going out,
like, seen, like, different things.
Like, I was just, like, Santa Ana.
Like, San Anaheim, like, that's all it was,
you know?
That's like, I was my world.
But, like, now I'm just, like,
start experiencing,
like, there's more shit to this, you know?
There's more shit than this.
How many times you've been to the observatory
in your life?
Was.
For who?
I perform.
Oh, really?
That's sick.
Because that's like the spot that I've had to go to, like, dozens and dozens of times over the years.
Because it's just like, that's where everybody ends up performing.
And everybody always knows that Santa Ana is kind of like the place where you could see artists perform.
And, like, you might have, like, more fans in Santa Ana than in L.A.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Yeah, like, yeah.
Yeah, it was just, yeah, this was just reached a too, like, like, like, what?
Like three weeks old.
Like three weeks old.
Like three weeks old.
When my boy, he and busy.
Shut out here, he and busy.
Yeah. Okay.
So, all right, like, you're freestyle and stuff.
Like, how do you actually start putting videos together and really, like,
trying to put yourself out there more in terms of making videos and stuff?
Like, you're rapping, but then, like, fully producing videos and trying to really
put yourself out there.
That's kind of, like, a different level of commitment.
Honestly, okay, so that second, the freestyle, like, in the neighborhood,
where it was like, well, my homies,
that one was, like, the one to blow up.
So when I seen that, I'm like,
I really, like, I really, like,
I really got to do some shit.
So I did a, my first song was keep it on me,
and I didn't have no puns to do that video,
which my older brother helped me,
like, he, he, I gave me the money to do the song,
and which I did that, which I did,
to keep it on me video,
and then after that,
I just, like, I connected with my manager,
that's why we just took off,
we just found away, yeah.
Yeah, that's dope.
Yeah.
Do you feel like you're,
are you already feeling people,
treating you differently and everything in terms of like where you're from what do you mean like
by you know the girls being like extra impressed treating like celebrity and shit like that yeah yeah
but i really know i sure it was it was it's what comes with it comes with it obviously like
so many shit like a lot of just like girls like taking scree shots like our old messages and
shit like that like bitch that's a crazy new world you live in you blow up as a rapper at 18
all of a sudden your dms from when you were 14
or somebody's Instagram posts.
I swear that's really what happened today.
Really?
Man, she, um, some bitch was like sending like all the fucking messages.
So like, I don't know who.
And they're like, oh, look, this is looking like,
you're talking to like little girls with the people,
but little they're like, I just turned 18, you know?
Right.
Like, like, nigga.
Damn.
Man, like, dude, man.
Yeah.
I'd be looking at that shit like, damn.
Just really like, bitch should really be like this fruit.
Yeah, you feel like you've always had a way with women or is that difficult?
I always have.
I always like, I always like.
I'm a nigger through on this.
Have you had anybody
give you a hard time about using the N-word?
Because I feel like we've seen
both sides of it
from the Mexican community,
from like people where it's the most natural thing
to say it all the time
to like especially older dudes.
They kind of look at it as like
not appropriate for a Mexican dude to be saying it.
No, in person, not in the comments.
Like now that I rap, like people know.
Yeah, like a lot.
But like it's like through social media
but I don't give a f*** like,
like, like, like, me don't tell me that in person
like me dudes like like.
Like it's like it's like, it's like,
It's like, I don't know, just
This is how you grew up.
Like, yeah, it's like, it's not anything new, you know.
It's like, it's not how I grew up,
it's not really how I grew up
because there was no black, there's no blacks like in,
and San Antonio, there's like no blacks.
Really?
So I don't know how I grew up.
You know, but it's like just the lingo, you know?
It's like, you know, it's like, it ain't,
in 1999 or it's 90 to 2000, you know?
It's 14, nigs got to get used to it.
No, yeah, I feel.
Like, people are fuls in the type of way, for sure.
Like, the older foods are full of the top of way.
There's still fool that built up a way, but it's like, you're just going to get used to me.
You say fools, feel the type of way.
You mean Mexican dudes or black dudes?
Both.
Oh, really?
Yeah, but it's still like the older generation, though.
It's like more older generation, but, you know, it's like, it ain't nothing new, you know?
Right.
No, I mean, it's always, like, controversial.
I remember when 6-9 came out.
People were tripping about that when Shoreline came out.
Like, the most viewed clip on DJ Vlad's channel, or one of the most viewed clips is O.GZ talking about saying that N-word.
Yeah.
Like, people just have a permanent, fast,
With that shit even though if you're actually like outside
It is the most normal thing in the world my whole life every Hispanic person I knew
Said that yeah that's so like I don't know I don't even know I don't understand why it's to keep talking about it like
Niggins still gonna do it you know like it's like it's like it's like it's regular
But yeah it's be the older generation you know but yeah
Definitely um yeah so I got I got a good look at what your neighborhoods actually like when I was watching that do no vlog
I had to skip past the parts where he was like
talking to your mom in Spanish for long periods of time.
People were shippin out because he'd put those subtitles.
Yeah, right?
Yeah, he was on with them.
I was trying to click the subtitle button too.
I'm trying to like figure out how I put some subtitles on this shit.
Yeah, that was interesting though.
I was just like to see your mom and your like home environment,
your little brothers like sleeping on the couch and shit.
I was like, damn, I'm getting a very intimate portrait right here.
Yeah, yeah.
How do your family members feel about all the shit that's been going on with you, though?
It was like your mom excited about her?
She's kind of worried.
She feels good.
Like, now, like, she at first,
she was worried.
She was really worried because, like, I said, you know,
like, I'm, like, anyways, yeah.
But now, like, it's, like, good.
Like, she feels good.
Like, she sees me, like, really, like,
making money out this shit.
Like, she's like that.
So it feels good, you know?
Just, like, she just feels very proud, you know?
And she was probably, like, worried about you at a certain point.
I mean, I'm sure she's still a little worried, but.
Yeah, yeah, for sure, yeah.
Like, she always, like, every time, like,
I'm out, like, she always fixed me,
like a big ass paragraph for like like just texting me and shit just something like like be safe
and shit right it's like that you know but yeah but yeah it's like now like I feel like she's like I'm
like what I'm like making some shout of is so she's like like yeah like yeah it's like it's cool
like she feels proud she was like something new you know like something when do you feel like it first
started to hit in terms of like your music taken off to the point where you you were like okay
this is actually moving this is actually getting views shit's actually starting to work
Like, I would say like, like, like, like a month ago.
That's it, really?
Wow.
Yeah, like a month ago.
Because, like, yeah, I'm telling you, all this shit happened, like, so fast.
Happen, like, so fat.
I still, like, I swear to God, I still don't feel, like, I don't feel famous or none of that shit.
Like, I really do not.
Like, I don't feel like I'm popping.
Yeah.
Like, I feel like, I got motion.
But, like, I don't feel like, like, like, everybody knows me.
Like, mm, and I feel like that.
You just got to go to the right places because, like, I remember one of the first times that I,
ever actually felt famous was when I went to the double
XL freshman like concert or whatever and it's like
I just had like a crowd of people like surround me like screaming and yelling and
shit and it's like when you go into that environment like I guarantee
if we go to a like Mexican hip hop type concert especially like in your area at this
point yeah you're gonna get swarmed you're gonna have like a overwhelming amount of
attention once you put yourself into those environments yeah not for sure that's
that's true because in my area I did a concert I should want to jump and
But I went in, I just went to, like, Colorado and shit.
Well, that's different.
It's like another state.
I just went to Colorado shit.
I was like, damn.
Actually, no, I went to San Diego.
Like, a lot of people, like, a lot of people who know me and shit like that.
They didn't really know you down there yet?
This is like, well, like, it's like a, it's like a month ago.
Like, it's like when I'm, you know.
That's crazy though because like a month is a large percentage of your time being in the spotlight.
Yeah.
One of the things I noticed from watching your vlog and stuff are like just various footage of you and your friends and
shit, it seems like you guys really be getting f*** up out there.
What do you mean?
Well, I mean, you do have a big bottle of alcohol in front of you, but I'm also talking
about the weed and everything like that.
It seems like that's a pretty big part of being a kid out there.
Yeah, but I don't, both things about me, I don't know.
You never gave it a shot?
I have, I had smoke, but, like, I just, do it for me.
I just get paranoid.
Like, like, too paranoid?
Yeah, like, one time I was in the studio.
I went to the studio.
Once I went to the studio, I'll take some edibles because usually I take, like, little, like,
candy edible, like, like, sarpatch edible.
They, like, hit me smooth.
But I took like a big ass chocolate
I took like a big ass chocolate
And like I just came out of the studio
And like I felt weird
Yeah
Like I went home
That's when it really hit me
I was like laying down
I was chipping out
I was like what the fuck
I told my brother
I was calling ambulance
They all started laughing
Like what the fuck nigga
Like they thought I was just playing
But I started really really chipping out
Like I saw
I seen the weirdest shit
Like I swear I feel like
I was like on shrooms
Or some shit
Right
I was like hallucinating
And all this type of shit
And everything's that
A lot of people have a story like that
from their first time taking edibles or just one time where you just took a little too much
and it's a whole day up yeah that shit ever since that i'm i'm gonna get off that shit i'm my first
time coming to southern california we went down to san diego and ate half a weed cookie and i
puked everywhere it was terrible yeah that's how i just like i drink but i don't drink
like that though i don't drink i just drink to like right now i'm drinking just like loosening up
just like yeah like just to loosen up because like me i'm really like a close person
I'm really like close person
But when I'm like
Buzz or some shit like I open up more
You know
Okay has that been a little bit of a challenge
Because as a rapper
They want you to open up more
Right yeah that really has like
I'm barely getting used to like being on camera
And shit like that
But I'm pretty like
I've been getting better
I've been getting better at
I've been getting better
And like now
I don't know if you've seen it
But I'm like
I was like damn
I was nervous of stuttering
Yeah
I was in all the type of shit
But an icon made you feel weird
He's a weird guy
Now I would have
I feel I was just nervous.
Like, I was just, like, nervous.
I'm dead.
No, dude, that 18, I mean, like, almost anybody would be nervous as far.
You're just, really.
And, like, she's like, food community.
We've always been, like, a big platform for us, like, you know?
So, yeah, that was like, yeah.
You identify as a foo?
Yeah.
Come on now.
I don't know.
Some people don't want to be a food.
No, I'm a, I'm, I'm, yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm,
like, I'm, like, I'm stuck in my vocabulary too.
Oh, yeah.
Like food, like, bitches be telling me, like, might be calling me food.
It's like, I know, food.
But I was, like, really stuck in my vocabulary.
Like, I don't know.
I just can't, like, get it out there.
Like, get it out.
But, yeah, I consider myself food food.
No, definitely.
What was the decision like to sign with the management company and everything like that?
Honestly, I just seen my, I just seen my, I just seen my, I've been seeing my manager.
He's been doing this thing, you know?
Like, as soon as he hit me up, I was like, I was like, a,
with that shit, I was all in it.
You know, like, I was just, like, even though I didn't really know him like that,
I was just like, like, I let him, like, dude.
I just, like, you know, I just, like, took my chance with him.
And I'm glad I did it because he's like, really make it happen.
He's like, really missed her make it happen for real, for real.
Like, he's like, yeah, like, honestly, like,
it was just for a little, like, I would, like, I would, like,
he really played a big role, like, where I'm at.
What's like, what kind of stuff that he has you start working on that you
wouldn't have probably seen yourself working on?
Just like, like, music videos every week.
Like, just, like, being consistent,
like, going to studio, studio session every week.
That's like that.
Just, like, not even that.
Just putting me out there, too.
Like, he would just put me out there, like,
little shit like that.
Like, I mean, not little shit, but, yeah, like, stuff like that.
Because you've dealt with a lot of artists.
What's it like working with him?
Difficult or relatively smooth?
So easy.
So easy.
He's just so respectful.
And, like, you know what I mean?
Like, a lot of people like him when he comes around.
Okay.
I've never had him easy work with any other mom.
artist, like he kind of just doesn't want to do features.
He's like, put me in the studio and I'm like, there's something about him.
Everybody wants to work with him.
Like, everyone's just, like, it's crazy.
He barely dropped his first song in January, bro.
January, yeah.
No, I mean, there is something about you.
Like, even when I brought your name up earlier, there's like a bunch of no jumper employees all
around and everybody, like, agreed.
They're all like, yeah, that kid has a shitload of potential.
He's going to be big.
Yeah, no, that's cold.
I just hear you say that.
It just makes me, like, makes you feel like damn.
Like, I'm really doing something, you know?
No, it's just weird to see somebody at 18 who has, like,
I don't know, you have a very convincing flow.
Like, you're so young and you, like, just sound like a fucking grown-ass man on tracks.
There's not that, like, weird, like, young kid insecurity in your songs.
Yeah, not for sure.
That's dope.
Okay.
So one thing I saw was you were saying that you have a huge passion for funk.
So you're just talking about, like, funk music.
This was a big part of shit that was around you growing up?
Funk, yeah.
Like, funk, yeah.
It was like a big thing.
County. It's like a big, like, it's like, yeah, it's like a thing in the county. Okay.
And so when you say the county, you're talking about Orange County, whereas most people
when they say County, they're talking about being locked up.
Nah, an Orange County, yeah. Like, it's like, and Duno didn't do you any favors either
because he titled that video, welcome to the city of Orange County. And I'm like, it's not
a city. I send it to the group chat. I'm like, it's, it says county right in the name.
Everybody was hot. Everybody from the county was hard because of that. It's been up over a month,
He doesn't change, I guess he's standing on it.
What was that like bringing him to your neighborhood?
Shouldn't have lost.
It was cool.
Duno was like a really, like, he's like a cool nigga.
Duno's like, like, just like one of the homies.
Like, just like one of the armies for a little.
Like, just like clowning and shit.
He's like a really cool nigga.
He'll make you feel comfortable and shit.
Like he's like really like respectful.
He has managed everything.
Like he's like, I p-de-em.
That's my boy for real.
But you guys had to like switch up where you were filming at
because he didn't want to walk.
His legs were hurting?
that's what you said in the video
I don't got nothing against Duna
I like Duna but I just heard
your manager was like yo yeah like
your legs hurt so we're gonna switch
we switched up the location is that cool
I'm like damn you having a hard time walking
that's crazy
nah I don't know about that
Maybe I misunderstood
Nah I don't know I didn't even get that
None of that part I didn't even see that
I heard one lyric in one of your songs
That I found kind of disturbing
Well actually it's not disturbing
But it's like more like disturbing
for everybody else
you said, I beat it up without a rhino.
And I'm just like, bro, an 18-year-old kid shouldn't even know what a
rhino is.
Like, Bick-Fills were not in my vernacular when I was a kid.
Man, nah, just, I don't know any of, I'm a young thing.
I don't need the rhinos.
But you know dudes your age, taking that shit?
Yeah, hell.
Yeah, I do.
See, you're saying it like it's obvious.
To me, that's not obvious.
That's kind of, like, scary.
Yeah, nicks from the hood.
Yeah, be doing that shit.
Listen, you don't want to f*** around with that because I know dudes who have to roll around with a
Can Viagra on them at all times just in case they get into a situation.
Man, I don't need that.
You don't want to rely on that.
That's grimy.
No, I don't need that shit.
That's good.
The other, like, one of the other themes that I hear a lot on your music is that
you know how to make money working with a woman.
Yeah, what?
I mean?
If there's a woman who wants to make some money.
Yeah.
You might be.
I believe that bitch, honey.
What's that mean bleed?
I was just like running for money.
I was just like, you know, come up on her funds, you know?
Just make you give me my funds, yeah.
So could you ever, like, have a respectful relationship with a woman
or is it always going to be like that?
You're going to be like a man later in the future, yeah.
Because you got to make some money first?
I mean, it depends on the girl, you know?
It depends.
It's like one of my, like one of my bitch's a bitch shit.
Like, it's bleed it.
You don't got like a down girl?
What do you mean?
Like a girl you take.
serious that you're respectful towards oh yeah i mean
yeah i do yeah because he doesn't want all the other girls to realize like oh
there's another girl that he no i'll just be capping on her i'll just be cappy oh all right
you ever see kelpie out there on the stroll nigger this you know kempi
i don't even know who that nigga is you sound like you do know who it is
that niggas not for my city none of that oh okay hell no that nudge do you think you's making the
O-C look weird?
I feel, I feel a mark, nigga on the hood.
For real?
I don't even, I don't get a f*** by that other day on the hood.
I don't know.
I'm high.
You mentioned me that,
nigger?
Oh, I got,
so you saw him get packed out on here?
Yeah, that's like.
You felt like that was probably a good thing?
Not for the county, but shit.
I don't know, I don't give a fuck about that shit.
I don't know.
I don't know about that.
Yeah, that was, that was a while.
Dude, I ain't talked to him.
Yeah, that's not, yeah.
I don't even talk to that nigga.
I don't even talk to that, you feel.
I was like that.
Okay, for sure.
Oh yeah, I wanted to mention this
when I was talking about
the whole thing with you guys
seeming like you'd be in a little too high.
The nitrous tank.
Oh, the Nogh?
That's coming out a lot.
Yeah, that's the thing.
I see, that's L.A. That's everywhere.
Yeah, I know.
It's slowly becoming like everywhere.
Yeah.
We went to color of Colorado.
Like, niggas had that fucking,
the wimpy.
Yeah.
Like, niggas will be having that shit on you?
I had an interview with some dudes
from Philly, actually.
and they, they like, this interview was their first stop after they landed,
and they already knew the spot that they were going to go to to get the NOS before they came here.
And that, to me, was a little scary.
Like, that was the first priority when you got off the plane.
Man, I don't know.
I do do this shit.
I do this, but, like, it's rare.
It's like, it's like a five-second high, food.
I know.
It's like.
That's why I don't understand how people get so fucking into it.
I don't know.
I should smooth.
Sometimes I go to parties and they have it.
And I'll f*** around with it and it's kind of fun while you're drinking or whatever.
But that shit really bad for you, though, like, bad.
Like, definitely not the kind of thing that you want to play with in the long run.
Yeah, not, but so, hell, no.
Where do you even get that?
In all shows.
They got shops for it, huh?
Yeah.
I seen peso doing an ad for it, like an Instagram promo.
Yeah.
I was like, I need that check.
I need to get into that business.
But people will never let me forget.
That's a really bad for you.
So will you just pour up right into the orange soda?
What do you mean?
Well, I just drink you.
You're just going to dump, what is this?
Nottled up it, hell on.
Oh, he's used that as a chaser.
Centario.
Centario.
It just occurred to me that I...
A podcast.
This is the kind of thing people get to go for it.
I might need to blur out the sip.
All right, so what are you,
what are your goals in the rap game?
Like, what do you want to make sure that you accomplish
as you get deeper into this thing?
Don't, but I don't make sure it's, you know,
I'm just...
putting my county out there, like, that's for sure.
Like, just like putting, like, making more artists, like, come out of there and shit.
Yeah, one thing for sure.
You want to put it on for the whole area?
Yeah, for sure.
You think you got some talent that you're aware of in the area?
Like, people that you believe in?
Yeah, yeah, for sure, yeah.
Yeah, like, yeah, someone like my homie's for sure, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
I feel like over there, though, like, it's just like, they're like,
we just got to switch our style, though.
That's what it is.
What's the style?
It depends because, like, there's some people, like, there's some people that rap, like, like, new school and shit.
But majority is, like, old school, like, more, like, well, Santa Ana specifically is, like, more old schools, like, more, like, Chicano shit.
Right.
Yeah, like, now that's, like, I feel like with that Chicano shit, like, if you want to be, like, a Chicano artist, you're, like, you're stuck in the box.
That's what I see.
That's how I see, like, you're stuck in the box.
Like, if you just consider yourself, like, a Chicano artist, you'll always just be stuck in that box.
You know, that's like, you're different from everyone else for sure, you know?
I think this, because this is like ancient history to you, but I felt like when Shoreline came out, they totally like reshaped how people were comfortable seeing a Mexican rapper from L.A. rap because they hadn't really seen somebody like, O. GZ or whatever, who, you know, was into fashion, was into the skate shit, was into the graffiti shit, was clearly still like trapping in his past life and everything like that, into, you know, rock and supreme and all this design or all this kind of cool shit. And it's like he was just like a different,
version of what it is to be a young Mexican kid from out here. I feel like you have like a similar
allure where it's like it doesn't feel like something that we just seen over and over.
Yeah, for sure. I feel like with me though, it's like it's like so many shit. Like we seem you have like
something you have like some of me. You have so many shit like you just, you have so many questions
about me. That's like not even just, it's not just my rap. Because I go off like with my rap shit
but that's just like adds on to it. There's like you're like black and Mexican. You're like dark skin,
but you're Mexican.
You have so many questions about me, you know, and that's why I makes me feel like, what the
it makes me feel like, it makes you like more like, you know, like, you know,
like, that's like, that's really like special, you know.
No, definitely.
And I mean, I feel like honestly, like there's always going to be like the old school shit,
the 90s style hip-hop shit a lot of times, you know, there's just a lot of people from this
area who are still married to that style and they still want to rap on slow-ass beats
and have the G-Funk samples in that shit and have lowriders in the videos.
stuff, but in terms of
appealing to a younger audience or an
audience outside of Southern California,
I definitely feel like, you know,
the direction that you're going and
probably has like more of an appeal.
Because I could see you being somebody that's able to
tap in with like different rappers
from different parts of the country and shit and still
have that shit be hot to people.
Yeah, no, for sure, yeah.
Definitely. Is there anybody you listen to
outside of Southern California or is that
kind of what you're focused on?
No, not really.
Really?
Like that's like that hell
I don't know
I just be like to focus on this
So what kind of shit
Yeah
But just kind of yeah
For sure
Definitely
Um
Okay
So
I gotta ask
You don't got any kids
Nah
If you did
If you had a daughter
Yeah
And she came home
She had a black boyfriend
I'm sure you've seen
This conversation
Taking part
And other people's interviews
And stuff
But I was just curious
Given that
You know
A lot of people
Mistake you for being black
would that be odd to you?
Like, is there any kind of like tension
in that regard from your world?
Nah, hell no, I would not, like,
when I'm not that type of nigga,
I don't just judge you by like, how you look.
I'll judge you by like your character, you know,
and also like, also like, I would like, even like,
I would like, like, hell now,
I would be so opposite from that,
especially because, like, just like me looking black,
like, I'd be getting treated treated differently
because of that, like, I'd be like being looked that differently,
so I would like never see the nigga like that.
I would never see someone else that's like black like that.
You know, because, like, I know how it feels, you know.
Like, I may not be black, but, you know, like, I know how it feels to be too, like,
that's all never made, I don't ever want to, but he feels like that.
That's dope.
I feel like that is more of, like, a new school generational thing where, like, it's just
kind of foreign to somebody like you to think to discriminate like that.
Yeah, no, that's just, oh, that's shit.
That's shit.
But how can you just, like, look at someone just, like, speak for them, you know,
like, I'll just go by, like, I always go by, like, how people act, you know,
like, how, I'll just, the character, everything.
That's all that. I let that speak for themselves, you know, I don't.
But you ever feel that vibe?
Like you walk into a corner store with, you know, four of your homies and they're more light skin than you?
And you feel like you're the one getting watched?
Or any little shit like that?
Yeah.
I feel like not now.
I mean, yeah, kind of.
Yeah, somewhere, yeah.
Yeah, for sure, yeah.
Yeah, but it's more because, like, my area, there's not really like no dark shit.
So, you know, so that's like, I'll get that, you know?
Okay.
Interesting.
So, all right, your name, where the Drex?
Where Drex come from?
I've been your name since you were young.
Yeah, that's where everybody called me.
They don't sat for nothing.
I was a big D-D-Rex.
What's my name?
Similar to your government name?
No, I don't know.
It's D-D.
I've never seen that combination of letters before.
That's good.
What do people call you D-Rex?
Like T-Rex?
Oh, my God.
He literally just had to talk about that.
For real?
I swear to God, I had a bitch tell me, oh, my God.
Me and my manager just had to talk about that.
I always had a fan, too.
He's like, hey, D-Riggs, can I?
Like, what you call me?
I'm like, niggins.
I'm like, I thought you name was D-R-R-Gs.
I'm like, oh, hell no.
Not as a drags.
That's funny.
But what about the joint part?
When did that get added?
It's just recently when I was just like with this, like, before, it was like when I started with the free soes.
Because I want to think, like, I'm a joint for real life joint through.
Like, I'm not, it's like, I don't just add, like, I'm a real life joint food.
Like, okay.
I know what it means, but let's get your definitely.
definition of joint because when I said that on a podcast with a bunch of New York drill
rappers and like to them a joint is a is a bitch like it's a girl like for sure and to me
I'm I'm talking about being a joint to them and they're like confused as because they're
thinking that I'm like trying to sex play them and make a joke about them being a girl or something
I'm like no no I'm like a joint out here is like you're the young hot boy basically yeah you're a
nigga feel like really like your hand for on a little for like you just that nigga for
I'm really, it's like you're trophyed up, food, like you just, you just, you just, I feel like
trophy is the new joint.
That's the same shit.
Yeah, it's the same meaning.
But now it's trophied up.
I feel like that's, that's kind of taken over.
Yeah, safe shit, though, yeah.
Okay.
But that means.
When you realize you're a joint?
This is all smaller for, I'm like a joint.
Like, everybody knew me.
I always had juice for, like, a joint for, like.
So if we had been able to, like, see you in.
sixth grade you would have been like the dude who was most likely to be a rapper out of your
class i'll be the one like for sure like just stand out from everyone like all everyone
loved me like always like i was just that niggin for like um not for real no that's dope um
all right so i don't know like what else are you into besides uh music and the street life
hanging out in the park um nothing that's about it to me on this like i'm just like i'm
just like honestly just I'm just like yeah that's about it I'm just sort of like
evolved from all this like just get better at it you know just like it just get more
comfortable with it get better at it just upgrade it just like keep like like
what's your favorite TV show TV show oh um boy what's that shit called with
franklin frankly sing uh so far yeah that's the shit okay yeah anything that's that's the shit
Okay
Anything that can inspire your street career?
Snowfall is like, you know,
talking about selling drugs and shit.
Yeah, I'm just...
Nah, not really.
I just, yeah, not really...
I thought you weren't going to be able to name a single TV show
and I was about to be like,
oh, that is such an 18-year-old in 20-24 thing
to, like, never watch TV.
Nah, I'd be...
One thing about, actually not, like, when I grew up...
One thing about, like, the way you guys look at it...
I really grew up, like, outside, outside.
I was like outside, outside, through, for a little, when I was younger, like, I was really outside.
Like, I was just, yeah.
See, that, that's something that's been kind of lost.
Like, from my generation and shit, like, it was about being outside.
That was what it was all about.
We were, like, when I was in high school and shit, we were just starting to have the internet.
So, like, now it feels like everybody's just, like, in the crib on TikTok and shit and not really, like.
And that's not the way I grew up.
I grew up.
I grew up, really, like, outside, outside.
Like, like, I would, like, I'll be, yeah.
That was what you were, that was important to you.
I feel like that's like after like me after like my like years that's like we really took place
like everyone was just like you know not really coming down just like that yeah um okay
who's that huh who's that oh dude actually this is a picture of a pgf nook without his mask when he got
arrested why that is a really good question so most of my backgrounds on my phone are my kid
but sometimes i'm doing stuff where i just don't want my kid to be my background on my phone yeah you know
I gotta go do a drill.
I don't want to be reminded of what I might be missing out on, you know.
No, not a drill, but like my own type of drilling.
You know, I don't really want it.
What's that? What's that?
What's that I'm doing?
I have a bunch of different fields that I work in, you know?
And sometimes you don't want to be, like, reminded of your happy family life, you know?
You know what about that?
Oh, in terms of, like, who you would like to collaborate with?
Since I feel like you're just kind of starting to dip your toe into doing songs with people and shit,
who stands out to you as people that you would like to work with?
Obviously, I don't know, just like my brother.
Like, my brother, that's, like, I just, honestly, I fuck with everyone who just fuck with me.
That's like, like, if, like, I never, like, I never, like, like, I never been, like,
I'm like, oh, fuck, like, I want this feature, like, I want that, like, no, like, every
to me, like, I'll fuck with them, you know?
Like, I'm up with me shit, like, like, like, all, like, all the artists, like,
I've been working with, that's because they fuck with me, like, and we just, like,
click, you know, just, like, natural, you know?
I never, like, I don't know.
Who's your brother?
How old is he?
My brother's in Morano, Mexica.
That's the one I never met.
Oh, okay.
How old is he?
He lived with like 20, 5, 24.
But you guys communicate a lot?
Yeah.
And he makes music as well?
Yeah, he's like, he's, yeah, he's big.
He's huge?
Oh, he's super popular.
What's his name?
El Moreno, Mexicana.
He's big in the Latin world.
El Moreno Maricano?
No, Mexican, Mexican, Mexicano.
Oh, Mexicana.
Right, right.
Okay, so that's why I got to search up.
Damn, he's really popping like that.
Was that part of the inspiration for you?
Or is it, like, totally separate?
It was, for sure, totally separate.
But I would always see him doing this thing.
you know, that was always, like, he would always be doing the same,
but I just feel like, my shit came, like, just like,
off of me, but I would see him doing the same for sure.
Definitely.
So, you're a fluent Spanish speaker?
Yeah, that's my first language.
Okay.
Do you, uh, do you plan on, like, inserting it into the music more?
Could you see yourself making music for the Latin crowd?
People would be telling me that, but I don't see it.
Like, it's, like, different.
It's, like, way different.
It's, like, way harder.
Like, like, it's a rap like that.
That's hard?
Yeah, that's, like, way harder because by now, like, growing up, like,
like, here with us, like, like, all of us are here.
We have different lingoes and shit like that.
Like with Spanish, like, they have,
my brother gives a different lingo, all that shit, you know?
So, like, it makes more sense for them.
Like, for me, like, people are more harder.
See, they were telling me that that's one thing,
that, like, certain artists, like, Chittor Ranas,
that they, the people love them for rapping in Spanish as well.
Like, there's a lot of people who, like, see that,
and that really speaks to them.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's just, that's just cold, food.
I feel like my shit's just, like, I don't know.
Like, I would, I wouldn't, I'm not,
I'm not close to not doing it,
But I'll be open to doing it, but I just don't see my sleep doing it.
Yeah, it would just be weird.
Yeah, it would just be weird.
It's like in your head right now.
You can't imagine what your first bar would be if you were saying in the Spanish.
That's like literally how it is.
But you still speak Spanish law when you're with your mom and shit?
Yeah, I only speak Spanish like when I'm at home.
Because my mom don't speak English.
Oh, at all.
Yeah, none of my family sees Spanish.
So you speak English.
You speak English around her to deceive her?
Yeah, just be like, just be fucking around this shit.
If there's some shit you don't want her to know about?
Nah, I don't be doing that.
I just be like, I'd be like the same little.
shit, like, just like, yeah, just like
little slick shit, like, yeah, but
she'd be getting mad at it, though.
Like, you know how don't talk Spanish?
I mean, English, what's the way?
You're talking Spanish?
I mean, why you talk English?
Yeah.
Because my girl's Armenian, and as soon as she starts
talking an Armenian to her mom or whatever around me,
I just know, well, it's not like
talking shit usually, but it's like,
she doesn't want me to understand what she's
saying. Like, if she's mad at her mom,
she doesn't really, like, want me to know what she's
annoyed by, so she'll just immediately
switch over to Armenian. I just be feeling
hell of left out.
You know, be asking you
like, what are you saying?
I'll ask her afterwards.
I'll be like, so what was that?
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right, so, yeah,
what you got planned coming up?
Any moves that you're making in the near future?
Yeah, no.
I mean, yeah, just like,
keep dropping,
keep dropping, just, me,
consistent with this is, like,
yeah, just keep being, like,
being different,
for real, that's, like,
when I'm not putting on,
being different, just like,
yeah, just keep my put up on their necks,
for real.
Are they making you stay out of trouble?
Yeah, for sure.
We don't got to worry about that?
Nah.
Nah, nah.
I'm cool.
I'm doing my thing right now.
I'm cool.
I'm trying to...
It's hard, but, like, I'm doing it, though.
Yeah, that's the number one thing that we got to worry about
in terms of you achieving your potential.
It's like keeping you out of the clutches of the cops.
Yeah.
That's what I'd be worrying about, too.
That's, like, my only...
If something would have to stop me, it would be that.
It would be that or, like, me just getting killed, you know?
Just like...
No, I don't even speak that.
But it'll be, it'll only be that.
Like, it would be that slop, you don't really shit.
Right.
Like, because, like, yeah.
Where the cops like in the O-C?
They're on it, huh?
Yeah, they're on it.
Like, especially, like, especially now, like, I'm doing something.
Like, I'm really probably, they're petty-ass.
Really?
They're petty-ass.
Standing on the block, you're just the target if they're pulling up.
I don't even be at the block.
Like, for real, I don't really be at the block no more, fool like that.
I'd just be, like, staying out the way because I already know.
Like, they'd be going to the hood.
I'll where Drake said.
Oh, where Drake said.
I just seen him on TikTok
I got a little stupid shit like that
Like it's like
The cops are probably like
Low-key
Kind of proud
Like all right
We got one
We got one
Yeah but I can't wait
To catch this nigga though
Damn
But I do hear from a lot of rappers
Where like the cops seem like
They at a certain point
Developed like a level of respect
Their happiness for them
That they made it out or whatever
So maybe it'll kind of turn a corner
At a certain point
Yeah for sure
It's always gonna be like
It's always gonna be like
Cops I really like
you know,
with the movement,
just always be caught like,
like,
just like,
always gonna find these
or just buzz you or some shit.
You know,
but that's how beautiful.
Hell yeah, man.
All right,
I appreciate you coming in.
Yeah,
I appreciate too for having me for sure.
And definitely just keep your foot on the gas.
Stay out of trouble.
Don't,
don't stand on the block too much.
That's like, you know,
number one other thing
besides the shit with the cops
that could get you into a situation,
you know,
you just got to stay focused on the music.
And for sure,
like,
if there's any artists that we're tapped in with
that you want to work with
or anything,
like that, feel free to holler, because I feel like you got a huge future ahead of you.
We just got to stay focused.
Yeah, I appreciate that, through.
Like I said again, thank you for a friend of me, bro.
Hell yeah, man, for sure.
Yeah, appreciate you.
And I appreciate you pulling up with two chasers because that shows that you're really, like, monitor.
No, I told the security, I was like, oh, Ruby here.
I thought I was like, oh, ruby here.
And I was on there, I'm like, give me sunkeny, you give me bowls.
That's my, that's my niggas for real.
Look, though.
That's what I, man.
Oh, I appreciate you coming through and putting on for all of our OC soldiers out there, you know?
Yeah, for sure, yeah, I appreciate you.
Because that, oh, I forgot to say that earlier.
That's one thing about you.
Like, I remember when I first came to Southern California,
going to skate parks, and I would see little Mexican kids with bongs
and just getting way too high in the middle of the day,
wearing hoodies and shit.
And me being from the East Coast, I was just like,
what the fuck is going on?
And when I'm watching you and your friends hang out,
I'm kind of like, oh, all right, this is that energy that I first peeped when I first came out here.
I know you're not getting high.
You can probably get high.
You just got over high off that edible that one time.
I feel like, nah, I feel like I'm just like, I don't know, I'd rather just taste sober
for it because I heard like that shit really like, like, even though it like you may seem
like it's weed, but like really like it really has like affecting me like later on.
Yeah, and there is like research coming out at this point that's basically like linking like
hardcore weed used to like, I don't know, like different like mental issues and shit like that.
So it might be a little bit more dangerous than we give it credit for.
Yeah, so that's, yeah, like I don't really like, I don't really like like, I don't really
Like, thinking of it too much, but like, now I'm just like, like, damn, I'm not really glad.
Like, I don't be, like, doing nothing shit, but it's just like Ricky.
You're not a perk head, right?
No, hell, no.
Okay, good, yeah, we've got to keep you away from that.
No, I don't be doing that.
I don't be doing nothing.
You're not doing nothing?
You're not playing with your nose?
You're not playing with your nose?
No, hell, no.
I don't be doing anything.
That's the one to stay away from.
Yeah, no, for sure.
I'll be doing nothing shit.
Yeah, all right, good.
You got a good.
You got a good.
You got a good.
Drek's the joint.
