Starting point is 00:17:13 And I was drunk and I was standing outside the studio. And I was doing a, I was spinning, I was spinning around hella fast trying to make myself throw up and shit. I remember that because I was, what the fuck? I was, because I felt like I needed to throw up, you know what I'm saying? So I was like in front of the studio like this is like spinning around and shit trying to make myself early. And he was looking like, you know, what the fuck?

Starting point is 00:17:43 but he just walked in. And then he fell and I looked at it. I was like, oh shit, everybody's drunk. We had fun at that night, though. He was kicking it. You know what I'm saying? We all kicked it and did the song and shit. And, you know, I still singing in my shows today.

You know, every time I get in any type of sham or fucked up, my trade always works for me. Like, it always gets me up out of some shit. So I hustle my flows, the rap game. I've been hustling for years. When I started, I never put a dime into it. All I put into it was my flow and my spit.

Starting point is 00:19:43 You know, I never knew about the business side of it because I never had to put money into it. All I did was spending motherfuckers would pay me to do it. I'm a real rap artist. You know what I'm saying? Rap artist. Like, you know, I'm going to amaze you. I'm going to entertain you.

If that's what you do and you do it the best and you do it really well and that's what you use to stay alive in this game.

Starting point is 00:20:17 You know, man, it was years. I got off Jive Records in like 99 and didn't know nothing about the industry, nothing about the music business at all. I didn't know nothing about the business at all. I don't even know what a distribution deal was. I didn't know what anything was.

Starting point is 00:20:33 All I knew was pay me in our rap. You know what I'm saying? So I had to figure out everything, man. You know, how to run a record label and how to, you know, the lawyers, you've got to pay your lawyers and all of the different ways you get paid off one song or get your, your BMI and your ASCAF and your sound exchange. And I had to learn and figure out all of that shit. You know, I got a few agents that I deal with and they tell me I got checks coming from places I ain't never even fucking thought of or nobody's ever told me about, you know what I'm saying? So you get paid off

Starting point is 00:21:07 one song like 10 different motherfucking ways if you know how to get your money you know what they say though spice about your first deal being your worst deal yeah yeah yeah my first deal was terrible um um well well i don't i can't say no my first deal was with was with two short and and we the dangerous crew and then my second deal was with triad records it was the independent label and then my third deal was with with jive uh for uh major but um The first two deals, you know, they kind of, they count, but they really don't count. Like, the first major deal was a disaster. You know, the contract was pushed for them to solely make all the money

Starting point is 00:21:52 and for me to just get paid off of the advance that I got from to do to work on the album. And when I brought them E40 in, what, 90 something. So you got E40 sign. brought E 40 up there to Jive Records. Oh, wow. I told my manager to go get 40 that deal up there, up at Jive Records. You know what I'm saying? They got a deal for, you know, for a nice amount of yaper,

Starting point is 00:22:19 and then I didn't hear from anybody. You know what I'm saying? Next thing, you know, I started talking, you know, I wanted to renegotiate my deal, and nobody was answering the phone. So I run into, you know, I trip out, I got in my car and I drive to, I drive out here to Los Angeles

Starting point is 00:22:39 and I parked on Sunset Boulevard and I started walking down the street because I'm pissed off. Nobody answering the phone. I need my money for my recording. I got bills and shit to pay. You know what I'm saying? I'm trying to get 30 grand. I'm thinking that's a lot of money back then and I'm walking and shit and iced tea pull up on me.

Starting point is 00:22:56 This is some real shit. You know, Ice tea pull up on me. While I'm walking down the Sunset Boulevard and he's like, you know, you know, Spice was happening then, you know. he had like a bins or some shit some old fly shit you know what I'm saying he's like yeah man and I'm like man I tell him they know they're not calling me back you know what I'm saying I don't know what's going on I brought E 40 up there and all of this shit you know shit is just
