Starting point is 00:00:00 No Jumper, coolest podcast in the world. And today we bagged with ASAP Ant and the Marino Infantry. How are y'all feeling? Awesome, man. Marvelous. I'm the side of the pillow. Nice to have you back, man. Thank you, bro.
Starting point is 00:00:12 Thanks for having me, bro. Been a little minute. I've been saying the things you've been doing, bro. Should have been looking good. Appreciate that. I mean, people in interviews and shit like that, bro. I mean, it's been like two years. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:22 That tends to give a little bit of a click. That's a crock right there. That's a goddamn six-four. I need a couch. No, for real. Yeah, it's like that. So, okay, introduce us to your friends just so we have everybody established. We got from Baltimore, soda right here, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:00:40 Top crock, you know what I mean? Top C-O-P, you know what? Yeah, he ain't got my man, Lulu P right here. Lou Lou P, the one-on-one, Sabrina sign. Yes, sir, rapping Maryland slash DC, you know what I mean? And so, so how did y'all connect? These are people that you know him for a long-ass time, or what? It's actually some natural shit, so I met him through 30-Glizzy.
Starting point is 00:01:00 He's done with shot glissie. He passed away. I met him just on some street shit, buying some drink, whatever. He was the man. I highlight him. I tell the story all the time, but I asked about some guns. He said, we don't buy guns. We take them.
Starting point is 00:01:15 I don't know. Sometimes somebody might get scared of that, though. You get him saying? Like, a little bit up a sketchy area, but, like, he always been cool, though. We always kept a contact with each other. Like, he'd been running around. He had a feature from Gucci man, all that shit. Like, he'd been in the streets, you feel I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:01:31 So we always kept in contact. I'm Boy Soda started from this rap and shit. Like, when I first started doing ASAP, like, 2011, 2012, me and him connected on some friendship, we just captured a bond, you got what I'm saying? So everything is next. It's not like this random people. I just fell on the internet, like, yo, we gotta link up.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Let's be cool. Let's sleep, lean, and smoke weed together. It's like, more or less, let's make some money together. You get what I'm saying? You created for, and one thing about me, I don't like seeing wasted talent, you got what I'm saying? Like, if I see a talent, and you don't want to expose the talent to other people.
Starting point is 00:02:03 You get what I'm saying? You feel like Baltimore has been coming up in general over the last few years? Yeah, you got like the YBS scholars and shit like that. You got the shorty, shortage. You got another kid that's signed to Def Jam, Rex, Roddy Rex, you know what I'm saying? But Baltimore is less.
Starting point is 00:02:20 It's like, it's political in the way. And like, everybody really don't fuck with each. It's political, bro. You get, and I'm saying. So people will be scared to reach out to one another. It's a crabs in a bucket city. So it's like, if you see that person coming up, you're not going to holl at them.
Starting point is 00:02:37 You get what I'm saying? Because you're scared he might surpass you. You get what I'm saying? So that's why, like, me in Baltimore, I see myself like, Baltimore's like a Chicago music scene. It got like the chief keef, the street rappers. They get the praise the most. But then you got the artistic kids like Kanye West.
Starting point is 00:02:54 You got Carmen. You got them saying? From Chicago, that's how Baltimore is. So for me, I want to be the country. Kanye West of Baltimore. Right. They being a street person, that shit don't get you nowhere.
Starting point is 00:03:03 And like being a local rapper, it's like, it's cool, but shit, you gotta go elsewhere. You get what I'm saying? To really capture your buzz. You get what I'm saying, you know? And plus it's like, you're gonna die out, worrying about trying to be irrelevant in your city. You feel what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:03:18 You know? Like, you gotta maintain that buzz. Why would I wanna maintain a buzz in the city when there's so much other shit out here? I came in go motherfucking gold in Baltimore. It's not even enough people to go gold. You know what I'm saying? So it's like, why I cater to that fan base?
Starting point is 00:03:32 Not like, I love Baltimore. Like, I'm, it's Emmy. My man, so he's from East of Baltimore. You know what I'm saying? He's from a whole different side of Baltimore. Because it would have been easy for you to just go fuck with a bunch of people from New York and shit like that, right?
Starting point is 00:03:43 Like, what makes you keep wanting into fuck with the place that you're from, like more than anywhere else? Because it's like, Aaddon, Dunction, Iraqi and Yamsana. I gotta go back to Baltimore. So it's like. But you don't have to, right?
Starting point is 00:03:53 A lot of people will just leave their hometown and never go back, right? But at the end of the day, it's like, I love my niggas, bro. I love my city. I love the fool. New York is cool, but I love Baltimore food, but I love the bitches out there, bro.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Like, you get what I'm saying? Like, I love it out there. Sometimes it hurts me sometimes, just keep chilling back there in Baltimore and not seeing other shit. You get what I'm saying? But it's like, I love my homies, I love my city, so it's like I can do the New York thing, but it's like, that wouldn't be true.
Starting point is 00:04:20 That wouldn't be within me. You get in them saying, like if I moved to New York and I got a whole bunch of new friends, you know? This is kind of not the question you're expecting me to throw out there, but I just want to say it because it's in my brain. The other day I was listening to an interview with Michael K. Williams, and he said, you know who the real star, the wire was? The city.
Starting point is 00:04:40 He's like, that was the whole thing in terms of what really made that show special is the fact that they were actually out in the field and talking to homeless people, talking to people who were on drugs, like really in that. Touching bases, shaking hands. And what d'nigas don't know is that that wide shit is like bare minimum. It is. That's really.
Starting point is 00:04:58 sense of this shit for real. It get deeper. For sure. They get deeper for real. Yes, it do. That's a dude. Niggas will kill you over $100 for real. It's a niggins, it's a craves in the bucket city, bro. You can't kill you. No, for real. So I don't know who should go first, but who, which one of you wants to tell us about tapping in with aunt and what your early life was like before all that?
Starting point is 00:05:22 Where did P? All right, so shit, like he said, I met him through third. I was fucking with a drink. We all was fucking with the drink. I met a lot of good people fucking with that drink. Ain't that the truth. A lot of money been made that way, a lot of connections. I keep in a lot of rooms everybody that drink, man.
Starting point is 00:05:42 That's fucking with that drink. And shit, I knew about two years before we actually did a song. Word. You know what I'm time? That's a fucking that. So like, and we was out there taking risks together before you feel of me. So right now I'll ask to be in jail right now, but we're here with you. but we're here with you.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Right. So obviously it was a different plan. You know what I'm saying? When you put it like that, it sounds great. Yeah, for real, because we was really out there taking, we started off taking a wrist together. So when we got in the studio, man, shit just clicked. You feel me?
Starting point is 00:06:10 We just kept on recording. This nigga got a hell of a work ethic. He made me step my game up, and I'm way older than him, you feel me? So it's a lot of shit that he probably don't know that I ain't told him, you feel me? He didn't made me step my game up in that studio as far as putting the hours in, You feel me? Really having my 10.
Starting point is 00:06:28 I got another 10,000 hours fucking with him the last two years, you feel me? Nazi hours, as you call them. Call them Nazi hours, man. No disrespect anybody. No disrespect. Why are they Nazi hours? Because that's what we're on.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Like, it's really on some fuck these niggins shit, right? Fuck everybody. We got tunnel vision. All we see is the gold and that's the money. That's the Nazi hours. Every night, we in there till six, seven in the morning. So now, man's like, we can roll low all. each other like the globe charters at this point so right it just it just built into some beautiful
Starting point is 00:07:01 shit you ask me feel me did you guys have common similarities in terms of the beats that you're feeling and the style of rap that you appreciated because there is not really no no that shit he got me on some other shit to his though i bring it to my other guys they like man how the fuck is you rapping on this right that fubu shit at first fubu was a was a was complex For me you know what do you mean like the rap on the fubu beat okay With trap beats I'm coming from trap beats right so to switch to the fubu shit it was jad complicated at first And but once I got that shit they really like me on the fubu beats more than the trap beats That's his call you feel I'm saying
Starting point is 00:07:45 There's all about being out like instead of going right I'd rather go left you get them saying you know shout out the spizzle shout out the spark team Supposed it right there in the cut rolling up doing we doing what he doing in Rick Owens Shout to Spark team man in the valley. There's just the sound that we build him bro like I don't want it to sound like everybody else Like even if it's gonna take my number five or three more years and two your two more years I'm gonna be happy with that you know what I mean like I was watching the currency interview You know I mean he was saying it sticking to which you know like well you know it's gonna go through the The evolution of rap and you gonna see all the different phases and the stages of how shit change and and you're gonna try to duplicate that because you might think damn this shit i'm doing might not go for
Starting point is 00:08:29 myself but you guys stay true shit west side gun been in the book should they fucking they fucking key to right now staying true to the craft i remember west side gun hit me up in what 2018 asked me to buy some marino off of paypal like bro i got a paypal account that marino shit fire you get what i'm saying so just tapping on with his shit and seeing what he's doing you get i'm saying like damn like stay true to my beats stay true to my craft like you You get what I'm saying? Like, I know I got dedicated fan base. Like every day, I mean, every weekend we're doing these pop-ups,
Starting point is 00:09:01 like an NFL schedule. We got a line outside. Yeah, we gotta talk about that. But let's get your rundown first. How you came into this? Shit, like 2011. He'd seen me doing my thing for real. And we connected like that.
Starting point is 00:09:16 And at first it was just on something like that. I mean, like, on some just kicking it. We ain't really getting the studio like just straight off the back. He was taking me up in New York with him, you know what I mean, this little shit like that, you feel me, you know what I'm saying? Little shit that was little to him, but that it meant a lot to me, you feel what I'm saying? Just, you know what I'm just getting out there seeing the shit. And then yeah, I mean, this is a rock and stuff down.
Starting point is 00:09:38 That's really my knicker though. It's like, really like 10 years, almost 10 years in, you know, like 10 years in. Y'all say tight during all that though, because like y'all weren't looking at him at some point and being like, oh, he's on some rich shit, he's in parents. He's paying attention to us. He won't do that. I kept tagged him. Listen, that ain't him.
Starting point is 00:09:54 That's not, this, Baltimore, listen, it's on some Baltimore niggas don't act. Like, bro, we come from the dirty, the dirt, a nigga knocking on your door with a brochure, nigger. That I mean, we less hope for us, you feel what I'm saying? Like, real shit, like, we appreciate everything. So, like, we don't take shit for granted at all. So, like, what another nigger might feel and get his ego up and popping off, but we're just looking at that shit as regular shit.
Starting point is 00:10:24 We're just happy to be here, yeah. Real shit, we just have to be here. Every time I'm- We go, we're up. So I used to pray every day. I don't die today. You feel me? Like, I'm, that's my perspective.
Starting point is 00:10:33 That's a Baltimore perspective. If you waking up and you asking God, hey, look, just one more day. Shit, get me through this weekend so I can go to this party. Yeah, I mean? Like, shit like that, you feel me? Yeah, he's been, he's been solid since.
Starting point is 00:10:47 But you've been lucky enough to have, like, countless influences of all these people that you've been around that even if, even if you weren't the most motivated person at all times. You've seen how some of these fucking brilliant minds that came up during the whole ASAP wave and everything. Like, what really made you feel like you could really do something with this group,
Starting point is 00:11:08 with this brand? Because even a couple of years ago, if you had asked me about a marino infatrial, I would say, oh, yeah, that's a skate brand. Right. But you've clearly got me on that. Right. Shit. Say that question again.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Okay. Let's just go with what made you feel like you, you could do something bigger out of this. I'm a little high, y'all. My fault, but hey. Oh, shit, man. Bro, I always been into, like, I was popping since I was in high school with Marino.
Starting point is 00:11:37 So this shit was destined to happen. It's all it was in me, though, of taking this shit to another level. Like, I done seeing the state properties and the rough riders and shit like that, how a team conform. So I'm like, even though I got with ASAP mob and New Rocky and Yams and shit like that
Starting point is 00:11:55 was a blessing to be around that for real. I was tapping back home for real. I seen that like I always wanted to do my thing. Like I just tell Yams like bro, I want Marino goods this back then 2012, bro, I want this to be the state property ASAT. You get what I'm saying? So seeing all that shit and this being around it's like
Starting point is 00:12:15 I'm not about to be around for no reason. What if you should say, niggia, y'all been around me all this time. You ain't get no connections. You done been to Dubai with me. you don't have you know y'all got millions person nobody got no millions Nick I've been in the room with Rocky
Starting point is 00:12:28 I didn't sing off at door verse in 10 minutes I didn't seen young thug I didn't play the fly in the room before seeing young Doug do a song off a beautiful dugga girl so seeing all that shit inspiring me like I gotta have this for my niggas when I'm on tour with Rocky he performed got his family on stage wouldn't they see in this shit I want I want my own
Starting point is 00:12:49 tour bus I want my own tour a lot niz get happier of being the second man you know i mean no just the mythus bleak because i love mythus bleat but niggas want i'm not and i'm not saying this in a wrong way but niggas want to be mythus bleak it's like you got to do your own thing bro you know what i mean you want to be hold of this shit i want to be dame dash you get i'm saying i want to be an entrepreneur i want to be fortune 500 like that's where i'm going with this shit like like i said my rillill bit pop myself since i was in high school bro like you get what i'm saying like so i've been had it for it's all about
Starting point is 00:13:22 to seeing the vision of bringing a vision to life, you know what I mean? But you always have this vision of it primarily as a skate brand, right? Like, when did you decide that you want to have a rap group under the same name? And, like, was that, you know, you could have done a different name, right? Like, keeping more, less confusing in terms of the brand and stuff, or what made you want to do that? It's like, I've been at the marino shit popping from like the deep, me and my brother, DJ Nick, for real. Shout out to him, we had the big payback mistakes and shit like that for real. You already doing music under the name at that point, right?
Starting point is 00:13:50 You know, I was always doing music like with music with Maxo, Creme, fat Nick. Like, I always was happening. Yep. I always was happening with these people and shit like that. You get them saying, little Oosies and shit like that, bro, before they was on, you know? So there's me having that, I just decided down there new group, you know what I mean? I need some niggins that I can rap. And so to always be with me do everything.
Starting point is 00:14:11 You get what I'm saying? And I felt literally, I don't know, honestly, that's a good fucking question. It's more so like a, Marino was more so like a, uh, uh, uh, a, uh, like a Walt Disney. Yeah, it's like I guess, yeah. Like that motherfucker got so much avenues in it. It's not just so much. Walt Disney makes t-shirts, but it ain't a t-shirt company.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Exactly. You know what I'm saying? This motherfucker, we got movies. We got motherfucking guy, damn. We got merch. You know, we got a lifestyle. Yeah, it's a lifestyle. It's a lifestyle.
Starting point is 00:14:40 So you might, next interview we had with you, you might be doing some whole other shit. That's the man. So it's like, we, we, it's really like a Walt Disney. We build the next Walt Disney, Warner Bros. That's interesting. I feel like a lot of people under the ASAP umbrella kind of figure that out.
Starting point is 00:14:57 Like, oh, like, you know, it don't matter if I'm not going to be the biggest rapper. I'm going to figure out how to make money up clothes or all this other shit. You know, like all these paths are valid, you know? And no bullshit. Like, everybody always took a liking to me, bro. Like, Frito was my man. Like, you getting them saying, R.P. Ferreto Santana. That was my boy.
Starting point is 00:15:18 Like, blood money. R.P. blood money blood money was fucking with me like you get them saying like bar i always tell me all right by fuck with you addie i don't know what's about sure you shout bar you know that's my brother for a v loan you know what i mean v long too we die v loan money team you know what i mean but you like people always gravitate towards me you get what i'm saying so it's thing it's like if you got something why the fuck was you stop this can't be comfortable bro like i just go back to i didn't been on amazing tours i didn't see rocky so loud you get what you get what i'm saying we
Starting point is 00:15:49 we done did everything together you know what i mean he doesn't bought this to australia everywhere you can name a passport stamps up but it's like i want something for my niggas you get what i'm saying and me just starting being a rapper like me doing my own thing like damn i'm about i'm about to put up my first mixtape out i don't know i just said i'm trying to bring some niggas in and i knew they was fire but i want them to rap on my beats though i got a vision for him you know what i mean it's like with can ron um got them just blazed beats you know what me and him and him he'd make a beats yeah you know because not that many people cared about cam before that then he got well you had the limited appeal yeah he got on those beats and it was over exactly
Starting point is 00:16:31 he's on the radio every day you know 100% 100% yeah exactly you guys skate though I just love I ain't going to lie bro I'd love to skate you like to dominate that board not for real tall motherfucker but now I just it's like this love the skating it's like toy machine and shit like that for real and being young and seeing bbcice ice cream and seeing how ferell did this shit for real i was like i feel like i'm bill bellichick some coach head coaches and some managers they never probably played football in the day and they life for real but they got they love the sport they love the craft of it for real you get them saying so yes marino infantry we got the skate volume two coming out real soon i got all a1 skaters we can have the skate competition anybody won't pick their money up you know
Starting point is 00:17:16 know what I mean we gonna really do that motherfucker thing for real you know what I mean like we want to bring this shit to life because I feel as though before me having the skate brand after me everybody got skate teams now all of something I ain't gonna say don't names but we see it on Instagram this blah blah skate team we see that's marino infantry right right or wrong but how how serious do you take the skate team at this point like how how right now you take it on doing like real high quality full-length videos all that show to do everything full link videos everything because in the day the skate the skate community is what's going to thrive the brain even more you get i'm saying because when we embed it in the culture for
Starting point is 00:17:56 they're going to love it's times 10 because they know we got the clothing on a lot you know i mean and we're and people fuck with marinal infantry because they do see if you look on the page we do got volume one skate um DVD out we got volume two out on the youtube for real so we was doing the skate aspect but i kind of not felt back from it it was all about finding right skaters you get them saying you know because i still got to get somebody that can scout for me too you know what i mean so as a right now we got about six skaters right now for real we putting together by our first like official DVD as in like uh because we haven't really pitted the first it's like a whole new glimpse of arena right right you get them saying so i want the skate DVD to be like the one right you get them saying like the one
Starting point is 00:18:41 people really watch and people look at and shit like that and smoke to and remember like that this is the one this is the baker you get what i'm saying this is the shit that really pitted us on another level like he bern to coach your life again you know definitely you know it feels like you guys go super hard with like the the behind the scene shit and the little like pop-up one two-minute videos from the pop-ups and shit like that like with like a lot i feel like a lot of brands feel like they're either gonna do like super high quality online video content or they're gonna do all kinds of vlogs and shit it feels like you guys are trying to do the more short form content but make it cool make it film with like old cameras and different cameras and just make the
Starting point is 00:19:21 shit look cool in general right it's all about just getting this list uh if you wasn't there here you go yeah don't miss that next thing try and get you in the vibe you know what i'm saying like directly in the vibe you feel so glow try the shit because being there is it's a different vibe you feel because we really they're fucking with the people we ain't doing no Hollywood shit you feel me all this shit all this kid you're fucking with the people everybody love this bringing their babies to the hood people babies fuck with us everybody people bringing their babies man we was in miami check this up for real bringing my baby no we was in my name people bringing their babies you got his baby outside pull it right so it's like
Starting point is 00:19:56 pointing out your mouth my fault he got the baby outside waiting for me for three hours he like yo where the fuck you at you know i was in a lean coma and shit like that for he caught me nigger got his baby outside nigger had no stroll he had his baby by his arm like they i want my baby to meet you like that's how real this shit and he drove from Orlando to Miami this marino shit is real
Starting point is 00:20:18 that's a short drop you've seen some shit that was an 11 month baby too no disrespect no car seat I'm over the shoulder that's too reckless I'm not gonna lie I'm hurt what they call CPS or some shit like that
Starting point is 00:20:35 they come to the year that's dangerous right there because Brittany had a photo Bernie Spears driving the whip with the baby just sitting on her lap. That's when she was going to do her emotional breakdown and me that was all on. That's when she car her hair off and shit like that. You ever tap in with Britney? What was she?
Starting point is 00:20:50 Uh, have I tap in with Britney? That's the most random question, but I wouldn't mind, you know what I mean? Like, I would love to pick her brain like, smoke on with her and see what she's, you know what I mean? How she been and shit like that. Don't her pops on her life or something, right? She seems like she's smoking something. Britney was, she was setting trends, man. Yeah, she was.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Don't you have that video with Snoop Dog back in the day. Who's Brittany right now is the question? Brittany. Billy Irish or something. Shit, nah. They can never be. There's never be another. It can't be no another.
Starting point is 00:21:20 Brittany. If you was, if you was alive for that vibe. Nah. No. No. Fuck. If you can,
Starting point is 00:21:27 if you was a laugh for that vibe, there's another. Yes, it was a good time. They don't know about that TRL back in the day. Yeah. TRL real shit. That top 10. Anything Britney dropped was going on.
Starting point is 00:21:37 What's that Carson Daly? Man. You ever hop on the subway down to kick it outside TRL? I never did that. I was in Baltimore, bro. It looked fired. I was still watch that motherfucker. Lincoln Park.
Starting point is 00:21:48 We only could see it from the TV at that point. For sure. When you see shit like that up in personal clothes, that shit don't even be that. I rather watch that shit on TV. No, but we did TRO though. We did that shit back when we, they brought it back for cozy tapes. Cozy tapes too. They tried to bring it back.
Starting point is 00:22:06 It wasn't what it was, but it was cool, though. Should it'll never be like that again because there was, think about it, any kid can go home right now and watch anything on YouTube. Exactly. Instagram fucked everything up. When I was 13, you went home and watched TRL because what the fuck else are you going to watch? Everybody else was watching it. It just was what it was. That's a fact.
Starting point is 00:22:22 That's a snap effect right there. That is a snap effect. So with the pop-ups and shit, though, like how long have you actually been doing it and how have you approached it? Like, what's the mentality been? I feel like, you know, you see V-Lone do fire pop-ups and shit, but you guys do a lot of pop-ups, like really, happening in with people over and over and over every week hey it's oh man listen like an NFL schedule I didn't start doing pop-ops until last year that so that's what really saved like a lot of shit I'm just starting to do with Marino because at the end
Starting point is 00:22:51 day it's my baby so it's like it's myself doing this I was scared to let people in but now I'm let you know what I'm saying I'm you know it got be hands-on so say you was doing no jump up by yourself you can't do the camera shit you can't do the edit in you know what I'm saying but you but technically because it's your baby so you like no you don't know how people might get you know what me but now was like the whole team got my whole team with me so it was like pandemic happened it fucked everything got i'm like damn what's another way to tap into my fans and i got to touch me because i'm i'm independent you get them saying i got to do everything in myself i don't got no record
Starting point is 00:23:25 label i don't have no manager you get him saying so everything is us doing this shit you get me so we started in miami yeah it never stopped then from miami to chicago to he's to Baltimore to New York and selling this shit out at a rate where there's those shit really picking up. And I'm like, my mother told me like, nah, you need to do every weekend. Don't stop. This nigga had me in Phoenix,
Starting point is 00:23:49 so I'm like, fuck it, we just find a shop, a pop-up and we come out and we find, not pop up, a little small shop, you know the little third store thing, skate shop that's going on, sell Supreme and shit like that, but we'll set up in a hole in the wall if we got to.
Starting point is 00:24:04 You know what I mean? Like, we're pulling you haul up. Yeah, because we got to connect with fans bro and before they start doing these shows you can't meet your fans you got you still got to keep everybody in tune what you like shit still in person bro fuck the internet you really got to shake these people hands and vibe like you got to touch the babies and you got to kiss the people you got really run for mayor how the president be the president he campaign every 50 states he don't stop he having on that jet the internet makes that shit more important
Starting point is 00:24:32 because it's so easy to watch a asap an interview or to you know watch a marina infantry video A lot of those kids, if they pull up to a pop-up or a concert or whatever, that might be like one of the most memorable moments of their life. Exactly. Shaking hands with somebody will always mean 10 times more than just watching a little video. Another thing, I rarely drop online. So it's like, I'm taking, I'm bringing a mystique where you got to come to a pop-up to buy the clothes. Right.
Starting point is 00:24:57 You got to come to the pop-up to buy the clothes. And it's only so many pieces. So you got to. You got to get your ass there. People be poor on Sunday at 3 o'clock. All the mediums gone. yeah and then you came too late just you're just for everybody if you're watching this shit do not come to a marino infantry pop up on sunday don't do it not at six
Starting point is 00:25:18 sunday and it's just everything inside in sunday we sold new york back-to-back it was a fucking dope line that around the corner it was like 300 400 people inside outside that motherfucker back to back to back we did bauda back to back we did dc back to back sold out dates so it's like people got to get it bro like i'm bringing that that real streetwear back because i come from the real supreme where 2006 2007 to stucie back like that era you getting them saying like i'm from that street where ever not the new era where everything is a raffle on an app and all this yeah right and everybody's a sneaker here like supreme got too big to keep doing that shit so but that kind of opens like a doorway for
Starting point is 00:26:00 smaller brands to be able to kind of do the lines and shit because they're not going to have 8000 people in line and no 100% like back in the day bro for sneakers I used to line it with my mother like I used to wake my mother at it's 5 o'clock in the morning to line off a sneaker so I know this era so I'm bringing this feeling back like it's rememberable like damn we really lined up at marino papa five years ago for clothes like you getting them saying like I'm bringing that aesthetic back because it's so accessible so I won't be least accessible right you get them saying in the ass back you know this shit resell will
Starting point is 00:26:33 yes it do that so even if you don't like it just copy it and you can resell it for a profit that's what i'm saying but the most beautiful thing about the whole shit is just seeing the beauty is that it's not about the money bro tell me it's the fans like jadek kid said the money would never equal to the love the money would never equal to the love bro smiling i can't believe you really i'm like bro you want me to sign your brand new t-shirt sign it bro are you sure it's white to sign it bro anywhere bro okay i'll do it right you know what mean so it's just a pleasure and they can really walk around like with your signage show on the shirt i just like some slick shit like the cliche thing
Starting point is 00:27:13 signs of sneakers and leave at the hotel and i was at the hotel and nigger picked them up in five minutes and after that ten minutes like enoughas came oh they gone bro they gone they gone another nigga came through they gone bro they gone you know i like about that i was just interviewing hell row and that's a fucking legend that's my man right there Legend. Rigo Rell. With J.R. Riter and 40K. So that's all that.
Starting point is 00:27:37 J.R. Wright was there too? That's a legend too. Grylum. Hellrell was painting the picture of how he used to go cop 5,000 mixtapes, throw him in the tongue of the car, and just be driving around, just selling that shit all day. And that, yeah, you're making like $5 at a time.
Starting point is 00:27:52 But, bro, like, think about how good that must have felt to touch 5,000 fans, have a bunch of money in your pocket, and you did it all. And you kind of lose that now because it's streaming and everything. And, you know, that's the future. But that's what I like when I hear about you doing the fucking the pop-ups and shit is like you can really build like a different level of connection when you actually take the time to tap in with the people. What you got to understand is everything comes back around. So eventually that CD and that tape shit going to come back around. But guess what?
Starting point is 00:28:24 We're on that shit right now. Catch up. Okay. And I'm glad you said something about them. Yeah, right up 40 Kyle and how wrote. Because that's the aspect we bring it back with the Marino mixtapes. into the infantry volume one out right now, into the infantry volume two out right now,
Starting point is 00:28:38 go and get that. That's the aspect we bring him back, bro, like that old DJ Cleet aspect, like that big micstate, that Jada kiss, that style is P. You get them saying? Like, I want to bring that failing back, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:28:51 Yeah, the essence. You ever get burnt out, though, on, like, being at the store for like eight hours and there's, like, meeting five million people? It could be kind of draining for your brain, right? But I got to do it, though. Who else's going to do it?
Starting point is 00:29:02 Yeah. I got to. You get draining. You shaking hell of hands and shit, but fuck it. I mean, if I was doing this, I be in the crib doing nothing. You get them saying? So I rather do that. Then be in the crib, playing video games and slipping lean.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Fuck that shit. A lot of people have the fantasy that they're going to be a success by just putting some shit online until it blows up. And then they're still going to be sitting on. It's still going to be chilling, just watching the money pour in. You got to get out there. You got to be in the streets. Bro, you got to touch the fans.
Starting point is 00:29:30 You got to shake the hands because the babies. You got to do what it do. You got to put that. footworking and like a lot of kids hit me up and say bro how do you do marino like i really don't really can't have an answer because i did i've been doing this since i was in high school so it's like i've been doing since 16 years old bro the game done changed but you have a bunch of employees on the back end who help you playing the the pop-ups and something like that or it's just this dick Okay, it's it.
Starting point is 00:29:54 It's missing plugs. Shout the plug. Shout to plug. And he got more kids than Ms. Wayne. And sometimes we look at that shit like, damn, yo, we really, it's really just us doing this shit. Every weekend. In a group message.
Starting point is 00:30:08 In a group message. Yeah, in the group message together. Right. Hell yeah. No more shit. And it'd be audibles too. Don't think it ain't audibles. There's a lot of audibles being called.
Starting point is 00:30:17 A lot of audibles. Right. But we're making this shit work though. And we're making it look good. Right. And the people really fuck with is they coming. This ain't no facade. You don't think you don't see yourself having like an assistant.
Starting point is 00:30:29 It could be booking flights and hotels and shit like that. That doesn't. I mean, we got our little people with that help, you know, you know what I mean? But as it's really just us. But we in the group message, y'all booked your flight yet? Stay close to that is good though because the other day we were arguing about flights and some shit. And somebody said, Adam, when's the last time you booked your own flight? I'm like, oh.
Starting point is 00:30:50 No. At least like two, three years since I've been. book the flight so I'm kind of like Monty Burns over here just not knowing it and like once you get employees and stuff you just get further and further away from the actual work of making shit work you know but yeah we'll get it like that for real but now we just right now we just it's like the Rockefeller days bro like like we just bringing it back to we got bring it back to the essence I don't mean to keep repeating myself but it's back in them days we just saying how they did they did everything they saw till they got with dev jam and leoh and russell and shit like that and they got
Starting point is 00:31:20 that distribution you get them saying so it's the same same aspect the same shit with dm ruff riders you get them saying the same shit and they got DMX pop and it's like that you got to ship them from deals around man have you had those offers i bet you have those offers of people who want to they want to take 20% of the business but then they're going to really run your online store and set all the shit up for you and stuff yeah is that's attractive at all it's attractive but it's like why i do that when i can get my own people to do it but it's like it's a gift and a curse you get i'm saying because like with the online order shit might come late shit might get fucked up customer service
Starting point is 00:31:52 It's like one thing about business, like Paul Walsett, like I'm a student on the game before me being a rapper. Shout to my brother, DJ Nick. Like, my older brother, he just put me through that, like, bumping, like, my first rap beef I listened to was Jada kiss versus Beanie's Sequel. That's my first half a rap beef I got introduced to. Legend. You get what I'm saying? Like, you know? So, being like that, bro, hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:16 You get what I'm saying? Like, you know? So you do different designs for every pop-up for the most part? designs it's always going to switch up you got the hot boys on that shirt right there this is beanie seagull in state prop okay yes i pit beanie sigel in the shirt and it sold out with philly in one hour and people kept coming back bro
Starting point is 00:32:34 is it more nope is mrs bleat beanie segal amelio sparks we're asses bro like you get them saying like we got this we hit people hot boys in the shirt we got the top crock shirt right here we got a uh a zip hoodie right here look fire basically we do every city every city we go do we find a legend in that city. Who really touched them people in that city? You got to make it exclusive.
Starting point is 00:32:56 You got to touch them for real. So it's about making an exclusive and make them feel like, damn, I got something that's going to that I can really look at and be like, damn, I only got this at the pop up. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:33:07 It's personal, but it's from their city. Exactly, yeah. So yeah, the designs is, hell yeah, you got to do that. You got to make a spark with it because we was doing. Matter of fact, it's crazy you say that because you just spossed my brain.
Starting point is 00:33:20 Because the first two, three pop-ups surreal we did I did regular designs you get them saying it was going good but when I had like did the zip hoodie and I did the Derek Jeter for New York City that's what and that would make me tap in like I'm a rapper but I'm a fashion designer too shout my boy Spizzle he told he like bro you the new like version with this shit and that really like with the lawyer Vitton and I'm like damn that just hit something in my brain again okay I got to really sure that I'm a designer on my Instagram. You get them saying? Because I'm showing I'm a rap. I'm posting shit, but I got to post
Starting point is 00:33:55 my designs too because it's going to make people come on more. Do you get them, you know what I mean? Do you do the actual designing or you just have a bunch of graphic designers to work for you? I got one graphic design. We just send shit to each other. I send them pictures and shit like that with the go from. Who send me some shit? We just go back and forth. Actually, I got three graphic designers. Okay. Three. That's it. Right. Yeah, that's it's
Starting point is 00:34:13 I roll with. But it's like a graphic designer. If like to switch up the colors, put them on templates, new design. Like, you know what I mean? It's designs for different things. You know what I'm saying? You mostly only do new designs for the pop-ups or you just do random collections online. Every weekend is a new design. Look at my phone every week is, yo, Trey, I need that design, bro. And that's the goal is to do a different pop-up every weekend?
Starting point is 00:34:34 Yes, and we got like everybody asking us, like, they got brands. How you fuck y'all? How you're fucking coming out fucking clothes? Like that every weekend, I can't get to the demand like that. Hey, my boy, A, Colin, you're a motherfucking beast boy. You got something with you. I don't know where he on. He may be on E.
Starting point is 00:34:54 Might be on Mali. But he works like a Mexican. Shout out to my Mexicans, too. People get a lot of work done on E. Bro. That's my thought of work. I don't know how he doing, bro. That's my theory is that a lot of the greatest movies that are made in the 80s were made by people who are all fucked up on cocaine.
Starting point is 00:35:08 But they channeled the power of the drug. A lot of people, they do some coke. They end up sleeping under a fucking bridge or clawing their eyes out or some shit. Some people do a bunch of coke and they make Scarface. Yeah. I was just thinking that damn you write about that motherfucker boy some people smoke a bunch of weed and they sit in their fucking room all day Some people smoke weed they make millions of dollars make great art Facts I was the nigga that smoked weed and sat sat in the house all day
Starting point is 00:35:34 I sat on the block on day I had that I'm gonna smoke riefer probably got a lot of good thinking down though Yeah That's shit behind me though No reef for the top crash man Right definitely so what what made you want to do the O GZ collab and how did that go down? Shit, that's been my boy.
Starting point is 00:35:54 I tapped in with him. It's random. I seen he was following me like three years ago. I'm like, damn, nigg's gonna show a lot of my fit file and that's what's up. And I tapped in with him. Like, bro, I've been fucking what's your sense? Your shit since coking white bitches, you don't even know. I was bumping your shit back then when I was a
Starting point is 00:36:10 young nigga. So we just had that good rapport with each other. And he's like, yo, I want to do the Marino shit for my, for my album release. So we sent their designs. He's sending me mad random shit from like he looking at he guess he he sent me like screenshots like mad old marino from 2018 i want to do something like this i didn't know he was going to do all that you get what i'm saying i loved it like damn like you get him saying like he really just said bro you know what i mean
Starting point is 00:36:35 like he really did everything you know what i mean like we did a couple of designs but he really pitted the i gave him it's like i gave him the brand for a day you know what i mean i even know he's going to put that motherfucker on fair effects in my rose bro right like you get him saying that's how strong our bond is you get what i'm saying like we just been tapped in you know what i mean and he just see something in the brain i don't i don't know what he see bro i can't tell you bro right i just you know what i mean this he sent me a fucking line shit 30 designs i'm like what the fuck that's dope yep was that like one of the bigger problems that you've done just because it's such a public location yes you can say that yes you can say that i did you can say well i would say new york city
Starting point is 00:37:13 but with the decal and shit like that yes but new york city was to bid me 300 500 people niggas want to buy my hoodie off my back sat yo bro you got nasty in new york you never save your own designs and then put them on fucking deep pop down the road you just winked me that is that a wink no oh okay you don't do that you wild it's hey spiz he wildest miss i mean it's got to be kind of tempting like you know you're gonna sell something for 50 bucks but you know it might be 500 in six months you might want to throw a a couple under the bed right my man told me about that but i'm like i don't even be having no marino to sell why you getting me marino to where that is you getting them saying like i rather let
Starting point is 00:37:55 someone else buy you if it's the last tea you get him saying so we i might i'm so i sold a hoodie off my back before because a niggas he came like big niggins big niggas big niggas be mad that i pop no two x-als no one man i'm gay nigga on my head me happy as big as nigga i ever saying I see A set at 12 We do that a lot too Like he got the last year Being broke clothing line He sees somebody that like the hoodie
Starting point is 00:38:21 He'll take the hoodie off his back And give it to him I see him do I had the full court in Houston That's a beautiful thing It is That's a real fan of It's right to them folks It do though
Starting point is 00:38:33 Michelle So do you guys do the pop-up shops And then you try to book like shows At the same time Like rap shows And how often does that work out Now that Everything open back
Starting point is 00:38:44 up we're now doing the rap shows now you get what I'm saying so I don't know when it's going to come up but we is going to be on tour and we got New York City up next September 24th then we got a whole list of the shit but we just trying to end the twine things with the pop up you know what I mean like we everything open back up so now it was time to wrap again you know what I mean so yeah we just dropped the tape so right that's perfect time that's kind of ultimate goal to be able to fuck with the daytime people at the shop or whatever and then fuck with the nighttime crowd that that Yeah, exactly. So we want to touch bases on that for real, you know? So yeah, we're on deck right now for real. On tour right now as we speak. You know what I mean? Definitely. So you have big plans for Yams Day?
Starting point is 00:39:28 Yeah, man, Yams Day is going to be an epic thing. I'm not really sure. Because 2021 was virtual. Yeah, it was amazing. It was amazing. I mean, like I said, we're going to find out about Yams Day when Yams Day happened. Yams Day happened, but Yams Day is going to be, it's going to be a celebration again. What was the digital version like? It was amazing. It was fire. We shot everything like three days before, five days before, for real. And we did the interviews, did the bodega thing. Yeah, we pay everything together with the Tico. I forgot the kid name.
Starting point is 00:39:58 I don't want to say his name wrong. But yeah, I wasn't really in charge of that, so I really can't talk about it. You get what I'm saying? You know what I mean? You fuck with the virtual concerts in general? I went to one, and it was rough. As a person who was there,
Starting point is 00:40:11 which it's not four of the people who were there. That's why I like the way we did Yams Day, this year for real, because it was like it wasn't performing. You get them saying, it was like a memorabilia to Yams. You get them saying. So, you know, yeah, it's like the virtual concert, not really. Ain't nobody in the crowd, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:32 That's weird. Yeah. Because I'm watching Chief Keith, the one I went to, I'm watching Chief Keith perform. There's nobody in the room, which normally means that it's not even worth performing if there's nobody in the room. 100%.
Starting point is 00:40:43 But it's not like there's like a counter on the wall. Because if there was a counter that said 30,000 people watching this, then I feel like it would have made sense to all of us. But he's standing there rapping like, you don't know how many people are watching this. I don't know how many people are watching this. It seemed like it could have been close to zero. Sure.
Starting point is 00:40:58 In that moment, like none of us really seemed to know. I was, I don't know. The energy was just weird. I'm sure they got paid. I'm sure it was all right. But yeah, I don't know. Yeah, this is weird. I look forward to the day we don't have to think about this anymore.
Starting point is 00:41:09 Yeah, I mean, if you get in the bag, yeah, but I wouldn't intend. controversial concert, but the new little thing they got now, like they stream at concerts now and shit like that. That's cool for real. I was watching some rolling loud and shit on YouTube. Yeah, hell, you're rolling loud and a little, um, Made of America for it. It was cool. I don't know if I would have dropped like 40 bucks to watch it like it's a fucking UFC fight or something though.
Starting point is 00:41:28 You can't hit to spend $40 for that? Well, a lot of these concerts you have to pay for it. But the Rolling Loud one was just like, I would be sitting in my house looking through my YouTube shit and see the Rolling Loud Live, watch that for that for 10 minutes. Yeah. You know about to hell yeah. If you gotta pay for, I don't know about all that. all that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:43 I'd rather just get it from crack streams. We're going to wait for YouTube to drop. It'd be up in five hours. It'd be up in five hours. No bullshit. Hell yeah. I got to ask this because you guys all from Baltimore. Anybody ever knocked down Tiana Trump?
Starting point is 00:42:02 See, I ain't from Baltimore. We haven't, but we're looking for it. Oh, fuck it. What the fuck she is? We're looking for. We're looking for. She was up to Baltimore? She is up to Baltimore?
Starting point is 00:42:12 She is up Morgan. It's crazy. It's mad random, though, but I went to go and I was a school. Morgan State for her. I went to go talk up a school for real. And the same kid who took a picture with me. Took a picture hitting Tionic Trump later on that day. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:42:27 Oh, it was that kid who filmed it. I remember that. That was hard. So you know, hey, man. Brushed shoulders with me. Nine times out of ten, play ladder. You're going to win something. Brushos with me, boy.
Starting point is 00:42:38 But I feel like she's still around Baltimore. Like, she's really like in the train. rapping shit like she wanted nothing to do with her I don't know what she's yeah not gonna cap you down big bro she don't got like from what I can tell she she don't want to be in the fancy shit the Beverly Hills web she she likes like I'm always seeing some videos of her beefing with somebody in the streets she's in Baltimore though sometimes yeah she's gonna get shot in Baltimore there are a lot of girls like her out in Baltimore what was she's like on
Starting point is 00:43:04 they probably paying to play she a different breed you get what I'm saying probably I don't know bro but they probably paying to play right isn't she a prostitute she Perhaps she has been at times? Allegedly. Allegedly. We respect prostitutes. We definitely respect prostitutes.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Do we? That's good. That's good. Not for sure, for sure. We respect women. We respect those working women. Do you ever do a pop-up and then just go spend all the money on hookers? No.
Starting point is 00:43:30 Mama whoop our ass. Mama, we ain't going to be going to go home. Mama going to whip my ass, man. Hey, my bitch going to walk my ass, man. Hey, fuck Tion. He's got to be like, man, this white boy is to be crazy. What up, man. He's wilding right now.
Starting point is 00:43:44 And you know, you can't fuck with them hookers, man. You can't trick on them on bick's, man. You gotta say that dough, man. You're not tricking. Niggas wanna fly holes out and shit like that. You rather say that though. It's not for you. You know?
Starting point is 00:43:55 Not for us. But like you said, we respect the working girl. We respect the working girl. However you gotta get money. Get it. We respect it. That's up. You a real,
Starting point is 00:44:05 you're a real Bob Ross fan? Where is the song title come from on that one? Oh shit. I just watched the Bob Ross documentary for the record. I didn't know a lot about... I didn't know that. I just always see him pop up for a painting that shit for a watch to stay home and shit like that. You got to watch it so you can see the Kowalski's trying to steal his identity, bro.
Starting point is 00:44:25 It was like you was signed to a label where this company signed him to do the TV show and shit. They ended up taking his whole... Heard didn't get no money from that. The family ain't getting shit from it. It's this fucking random company. It's a lot of bad deals back in the day for real. We got to get like a union set up for us, man, like for the bad deals, bro. But it's like, who do we blame?
Starting point is 00:44:47 Do we blame ourselves? A little bit of that, a little bit of blaming the perpetrators. Yeah, but you got to understand. The end of the day, they were the people before us. So now we know, they mistakes us, I mean. Right. Now we know. That's true.
Starting point is 00:45:01 God don't make no mistakes, man. So that's how some ways that's how Chicago. What are the mistakes that you want to educate the young kids? on in terms of not making the same errors that you might have made in the past and stuff. Save your money. Fuck that lean shit. Stay focused, young nigger. You get what I'm saying? Be all you can be. You know what I mean? Like really do your shit. If you think that you're the one and you creative, you from saying, whatever you do you, bro, don't worry about what nobody say. I mean, it might be the simplest words of encouragement, I guess. People always say for real,
Starting point is 00:45:37 but you got to keep your eye on a prize, bro. Starting point is 00:53:45 Top-tier, we need top-tier, everything over here. Let me put it like this though. If there's a shirt that you want, it'd be dope if you got it for free, but you would pay for it too, right? If you really like it. But I'm putting it on my back though. You can't put no pussy on your back.

Starting point is 00:55:49 for Baltimore in the long run to have a popping brand associated with it and everything. For sure. Like, we still want to take them trips and and then constantly bringing it all over the country. But that's why it doesn't matter that much where the store is if you might be able to
Starting point is 00:56:03 hit a pop-up every couple months, you know? 100% we don't make a marino store coming scene too in baltimore that's coming very soon too my guy very soon i was just thinking about that that could be big no it's gonna be real bit only exclusive pieces only we got to come baltimore got to come but really just i want to do movies bro like i want marino to be no limit my that's i see i see myself as master p and it's coming no right i want to do the movie scene it's on you though because if you if you have made a fire movie a couple years from now and they're going to be able to take this clip from the interview, be like, oh, my God, and predicted everything.
Starting point is 00:56:38 They always do that. That's a layup right there. All you got to do is make a movie now. You got to talk the shit to existence. He'd be talking the shit into existence. Like, even with my flow, like I'm from a place where, you know what I'm saying? They got like a dub flow, like the DMV flow. But I don't got that flow.
Starting point is 00:56:54 You know what I'm saying? This one, the guy's like, stick with that. We're going to put that on here. Yeah, we don't need anybody else doing that flow. Speaking of things to existence is very rare. This is what's going on. This is what the station. You feel me?
Starting point is 00:57:04 Manifestation, so he'd be calling that shit. That way. Just trying to be the coach. I want to be a coach and the player like Bill Russell. You did all the coach, all the coach, the cold coach series. You feel? Eddie Patino, Eddie Iszo, Eddie Calapari going to get that little black jean jacket. I'm really king of the underground, bro.
Starting point is 00:57:23 Like, niggas can't fuck with me on this shit. I'm your favorite rapper, favorite rapper. Like, you get what I'm saying? They're inspired by me. You get what I'm saying? Starting point is 00:58:50 They should have brought El R and J.R. out there. I almost threw my phone. I mean, they need a dude to go out and a DJ. That's all. They need to Duke the God with the DJ. That's all they needed. They want to play. They didn't play getting them, Daddy. They ain't played his band from TV.
Starting point is 00:59:03 He didn't play, he wrote Crush on Me. He should have paid Crush on me after he played All About the Benjamins. You gotta be strategic, you know what I'm saying? I ain't gonna lie they fucked it that bad because one thing about it, after the locks did that, I bet they got a lot of shows on the line right now. A lot of festivals.
Starting point is 00:59:17 They put him on the Kanye album. Yeah, he flew him straight up. He knows. So, yeah. We would have liked the head dipset on that Donda. Wow. That would have been crazy. That was right there.
Starting point is 00:59:28 Dipset on that Donda. Damn. But what if he left Dipset up? then I'd have been mad I've been on my soldier shit that's the best thing yeah soldier Chris Brown everybody who wasn't on there is pissed cause did a verse and didn't get on it they're mad as fuck but yeah
