Feels like it's been a million years since I last interviewed you, but it was like a year and a half ago or something. Yeah, yeah. That was when that step harder, I had dropped step harder now. Right, okay. For sure. Yeah, it feels like things have changed a lot since then. Yeah, yeah.

That's a good thing, though. Yeah. Every time I come back, I need to be bigger. Right. I'm surprised that you and nobody in your crew hollered at those girls over there. I was very impressed. I'm like, that's a lot of discipline right there. Hey, man, I'm team, Chloe.

You know what it is? When my little brother's over there, I try to tell my little brother, you know what I'm saying? You kind of disappointed. You see a bitch with a fake ass. You're supposed to holler, right? I don't know what he on, man. But, you know, she's the one who went viral for saying that if a dude, that basically she had a dude, she's dating him, dating.

He, like, puts her in a house, gives her a car and shit. And that if they break up, she ain't giving it back. Oh, I've seen that. That's her. I've seen it. How do you feel about that? That shit crazy is it? Yeah.

If you put a girl in an apartment and then you break out with her, there ain't no more apartment, right? And it's old with. That's what I'm saying. It's old way. There ain't nothing else to it. I don't know. I mean, shit, that you're going to keep up with it with the bills and shit. She's telling me that basically, like, all these dudes, all these rich guys, they love just giving girls shit, giving them everything, giving them cars and stuff.

I'm like, I don't know. know any of these dudes. She told me she named a couple of them too. And I was like, all right, well, maybe that's what he likes to do with his money. Devin, Devin. I can't relate. Me either. Respect. I'm glad we're on the same page with that. Anti-Simp. Anti-simp for life, man. All right, so how are you doing that? The album sounded good. I was just banging it. Man, I'm so happy by this album, bro. I'm telling you, but I wouldn't never happy.

I wouldn't never so happy by the album until this one, right? Yeah. This is the one. This is the one. It's so crazy. like right now like even on apple right now it's been like a whole week i'm still trying top 10 you know what i'm saying i ain't never did that yet right and it's like it's so crazy because like not really it's getting so much bigger now because not everybody starting to realize like how how raw i am you know what i'm saying like just shit like that like this is the moment i've been waiting for even me knowing you for a while and like having listened to your music over the years yeah like at a certain point the amount of noise that you've been making through drama type

shit on the internet or whatever. It makes it kind of like, you know, you forget like, oh, that person actually does have dope music in general. So then when I'm listening to the album, I'm like, this is going to be a big album for him because, you know, people are just going to actually realize like, oh, Ace actually is a talented artist and he got a lot going on. And that's my thing I was trying to get, that's my thing I was trying to get across, like, my point I was trying to get across because like, it's more to it than all the other shit going on, you know what I'm saying? But people, they tend to like feed off like negativity and shit like that. You seem like a master. You seem like a master.

of taking that fact and manipulating that and using that. Exactly. That was you supposed to. In the situation, you got to, like, you know what I'm saying, gain off of it, you know what I'm saying? Right. Like shit like that. That's part of being, like, an artist or part of being in the spotlight. You know what I'm saying?

In the industry, you've got to learn how to take the things that's going on and gain off of it. You know what I'm saying? Stuff like that. Definitely. I mean, it is crazy because it's, like, a lot of people in rap even, like, they, end up in crazy situations, they end up beef with people, whatever, all kinds of violent shit happens, but then you just never really hear about it in the music. Like, was there a specific moment where you just basically realize, like, I'm going to just

start airing this shit out, or was that always kind of a part of your career? I ain't gonna lie, like, ever since I was younger, I always used music to, like, to vent. You know what I'm saying? And, like, I always express myself through music. Like, I never, I never used to even talk about, talk to people about my problems or anything I used to go through or anything that was going on. I've never been a type person to express myself to people. You know what I'm saying?

So what that being said is, yeah, music was always deaf. Definitely. But now it's reached like, you know, fucking Game of Thrones type proportions. Where it's like, I have a friend who made like a two-hour fucking documentary about you and other shit. Traplora, shout out to him. How you feel about shit like that? I've been seeing that shit going around that shit. Just be crazy.

That shit would be mind-blowing because, like, looking back at all that shit, that shit. looking crazy as hell. But that shit be looking as an entertainment, I guess. Right. But is it weird for you to have, like, kids in other fucking countries basically, like,

telling the story of your life? Like, do you watch that? Like, what do you describe as, like, your main emotions when you see something like that? And do you watch it all? Because there's a lot of these that are, like, very, very popular.

There's a lot of shit that go on them now. It's just, like, it just be crazy. Because, like, they don't know what I'm saying? So it's like, it's like, it's like, like I see,

the negative. activity shit like it be going on but it's like it's more good but you don't they go unnoticed right the good go unnoticed like there's so much shit that that everybody do that nobody see and even when they see they just scroll right past it they want to see negative oh he this he that that's what they want to see do you end up seeing a lot of like details that seem wrong in terms of like a lot of this stuff it's like all that shit be off man all that shit be i don't be you know what there something of that shit here they'd be saying man right

is it piss you off or you just kind of like whatever this is how it is it kind of fuck with me because it's like like it's like it fucked me then it don't because it kind of fuck with me because like I don't want I don't want the industry to like to be scared to come around me oh all he do is violence

violent so now I can't go get Grammys and shit like that because it's fucking up my image oh he can't come here because he might start a problem you know what I'm saying and that it kind of fuck me up you know what I'm saying but then again it's like that's the way that the people want to see it for some reason. It's crazy.

They just can tell when they're dealing with some real shit as opposed to some fake shit. There's so much fake shit and it's so easy to do fake shit that when there's something that's obviously real, it's like hard for the fans to look away from. Oh, I'd be saying. But like we were, like just for an example, we were talking about like, oh, we were going to go to this event in Florida. And then I threw out the idea, I'm like,

we should go to Jacksonville, do some videos where we pull up to the trenches out there. And, you know, multiple people that work for me were like, no. I'm not going anywhere near there. I'm like, I don't even find. I'm like, we could go. I'm like, there's got to be a scenario where we could go at the right time, move the correct way. We don't got nothing to worry about. They're like, no, I'm not playing with it.

How does that feel, though? Because most rappers wouldn't really necessarily have that problem. It's so crazy. They don't even let me back in my city like that. Really? Police. They hate me out of that page. So you don't even spend time there, really?

They don't let me come out, though. Every time, if I go out there, the police going to come blitz or everything. time. I just be getting away from their ass. I don't even like looking at the police nowhere. Where do you stay at for the most part now? I've been staying in Texas. Oh really? Yeah, yeah. I don't like police, Jacksonville police crazy, man. They're evil too. That's crazy. Because your main op, you don't really stay there either. Huh? Oh yeah, I don't know where they stay at. So there's all this crazy shit based around this one city that realistically, if you've been there, you know it ain't really like a place that you would expect to be such a fucking hub and

rap music i've been like all over florida my whole life so yeah i mean you fought with miami i love miami me too i love miami i would go to miami a hundred times before i went to fucking jacksonville i mean i'm gonna be in eleven and shit i'm not i'm not sure exactly what we're gonna do in there they got a lot of clubs in miami a lot of shit going on in miami a lot of foreign we don't got foreign cars out there in jacksville we've we i probably um we i probably um I want to say I've never seen I probably seen one Lemma again out of there

and they probably just probably passed through Right I've never seen like None of that shit Until like I got in the industry Never seen none of that stuff Like I ain't like Like Rose Royce

That you wouldn't be able to perform there The cops wouldn't let you perform and shit They canceled all the shows I got around the area Really Like Daytona that's like They tone like 45 minutes away Right

45 minutes hour at the most hour at the most hour it's like 45 minutes uh joshville council Nashville that's it's crazy

do you feel like you draw the same amount of attention in Texas or does it just go away in Texas and they just kind of leave you alone because it's just they're not

they don't even realize you live there they don't even realize I live there I don't even I don't even be out like that I just working in the studio all day

right I don't even be I'd be trying to get money but I'd be chasing money you know what I'm saying I'd be trying to make some shit like make shit happen all my dreams i've been wanting to come true you know what i'm saying so i can't be

sitting down worry about the next people and then that's trying to get in my dream then they're going to work like that so i'd be i put in the i really put in the work for this right you know what i'm saying every day all day all night i barely sleep right for real for real but like a more cynical take on all this would be that you basically have like a couple of artists who are like from this city beefing all crazy essentially probably contributing to the violence in that city, but then not even staying in that city. A lot of people might look at that and say, like, oh, that's fucked up. They're basically, like, creating content out of, like, also causing conflict in this place.

What would you say to somebody who say that? Not that I'm saying that. A lot of shit, that shit be, that shit be off. A lot of the shit be off. You know, a lot of shit ain't what it seems. Okay. But I got to say, bro, like, it's real talent in my city, bro. Like, it's real, real.

But everybody does talent. Whether it's sport, athletes, move atlas, or anything, rapers, whatever it is. There's so much talent, though. Even people who do hair, nails and shit like that, that's a talent. You should sign a hair lady. See, I'm trying to get into all that type of shit, for real.

You know what I'm saying? I'm trying to support my whole city, not just rappers and shit. You know what I'm saying? Everybody, like, I be going in, like, some of the football athletes and shit will be playing. I'd be talking to them. Like, you know what I'm saying? I'd be, like, giving them the motivation and shit.

Let them know, like, you know what I'm saying? I'm trying to be there for y'all. You know what I'm saying? Or I just go call a couple rappers out of Jacksonville. I'll fly my, you know what I'm saying? Make a couple of music, you know what I'm at. And I'm not just tell them what I know, give them the game or what I know.

So they can, you know what I'm saying? Create their own way. Definitely. For real. So let's rewind. Okay, was this album already in the works before Who I Smoke? Or did Who I Smoke set off the mentality of like, oh, okay, I got to put a project together to basically get behind the hype that I just created for myself through.

No, hell, no, my shit was already put together. Okay. I was already in an album mode. I was already from getting this shit moving. You know what I'm saying? I was already like, like I say, bro, I was already in the mix of doing all this stuff. You know what I'm saying? My album was supposed to draw in May.

You know what I'm saying? But I wanted to make sure it was all right. So I had to, like, hold on, y'all. Let's get this together. Like, you know what I'm saying? So on track for track, track, track, you know what I'm saying? Let's get that together. Let's put it together well.

You know what I'm saying? It's not rush. But like almost half the songs are things that already had music videos, right? Exactly. Do you feel like that takes away from the project that people don't have that, like shock when they're first hearing it? Like, oh, this is all new shit. It's so crazy because I said that, but I had to talk with Shipes.

You know what I'm saying? Shipes for like. Johnny Shipes. Yeah, Johnny Shipes. Who you're signed to, right, I forget. Okay. So I had to talk with Shipes and he was like, when you replay the album, because that's what I was worried about.

He said, bro, when you go back and replay the album, some of the songs that they heard that was already played, when they reheared, it's like they're hearing it all over again. It's like, because some people, like, they probably just heard it and just left it down. You know what I'm saying? But now when they hit on the album, they're like, man, this shit hard for real. You know what I'm saying? So it's like, and it's so crazy because now I'm getting a lot of feedback.

I was getting a lot of feedback on that. Like, oh, yeah, we heard some of these songs that. radio, but then they'd be like, but that bitch hard. You know what I'm saying? Shit like that. So. It can be hard to like judge a project if you already heard a lot of songs and shit, but then at the same time, like if somebody's going to listen to this project a year

from now, it's not like they're going to be thinking about the fact, oh, I already heard these music videos or whatever. You know what I'm saying? You want to go, you want to get the fans that you want to, you want to get your fan, but you're trying to get, you want to get bigger. The point of you putting it is out to get bigger. Right. You know what I'm saying?

So you want the people who never heard, listen to you. hear it all. You know what I'm saying? So that's how I seen it. The way Shipes put it to me, that's how I just took it like that. Definitely. So Shipes was the architect of who I smoke. What you mean? The architect. He write the song? He involved them to creative? Hey, no, here I not, here, I not. I don't think he would want the credit for that. See, that's some shit. That's some shit that we all came in the studio together and did. Right. So it was so because the snippet was like floating around for a while. So we knew this shit was coming. Everybody knew that business was going to be big. I ain't going to lie. Everybody in the studio. She looked.

Look, it's so crazy because, like, go on, spinning a walk. You know what I'm saying? They knew it's going to be big. But I knew it's going to be big, for real, for real. You know what I said? They knew it's going to be big. You've been doing this longer. So I already knew what was going to go on with it, you know what I'm saying?

But like I said, they all knew it was going to be big. You know what I'm saying? But I ain't going to lie. It hit the main in the first day, me and the second day, another million to third. It just kept going on like that. Right. And they just that all in was, I was really happy.

I was more happy to see them happy. You know what I'm saying? because like what we come from this shit like me changing a lot of people's lives like like that shit crazy you know what I'm saying like just to see like the work you know what I'm saying and I just watch them boys really putting work

in the studio like that like for real like I'm saying bro I met Spine and Walt you know probably like October oh really that recently I just met him how'd you meet him? And as a matter of fact I probably met Spence let me take that back

like September I met Spence Uh huh I mean him in like I mean him accept him He was playing the game And And like he never brought up music to me But I always knew he rap

Because he always was just a rap You know what I'm saying But he never brought up And I fought with that Because he wanted to try to force that Like oh bro I got this dropping Like go post it like It went on like that

It was just genuine We were just playing You met him playing what game Uh war zone Okay So you met him online Yeah So this is some YBN shit

You know what I'm saying? So, the way, and it's so crazy because, like, that first vibe I got with him, like, I fought with him. You know what I'm saying? And I don't really do that with people. It takes me a minute for me to fought with you. I felt like you must have known all these dudes for fucking forever. And I was wondering why I hadn't seen your make music together before.

I guess that makes sense. So then we started working and I was like telling him a lot of shit about how this shit working. Like, you know what I'm saying? I'm asking what he want to go and how far he want to be. You know what I'm saying? Tell him he got it. You know what I'm saying? I was like, bro, six months, bro.

You're going to be big as hell. He'll tell you this right now. I said, but six months, bro, let's just work on this shit. I said, no, bro. He went crazy. Like, Goon. going with rap when I was younger you know what I'm saying

okay he's my brother for real like what I'm saying so I remember getting out of jail one time this would be right before I signed a deal with Shipes I got a job I'm like oh hey bro when I get this shit rocking I want you to come back and start rapping right

he's like ah he still got a message to this day he'll pull a ear time next thing you know shit I brought last year 2020 around the COVID time I'm like bro come out of here bro he came out of that bad I said bro we're gonna get this shit rocking just believe him

He was, that's all he kept saying. I'm off and do this on. I'm doing this song. We got to do this. It's going to go crazy. That's what he was saying, for real. So he found. sending a beat to him, he gets to start doing it.

And Watt went in. Watt went crazy, bro. I just went in. And Goun just killed it. Like, nobody ain't even, no Goon recorded his part. Because we also turned on our shit. Like, you know what I'm saying? Because we played, me spinning a walk.

We played our part back by like 15 times. So we so turned and trying to see how, telling everybody how big it's going to be. Meanwhile, Goon isn't there recording his verse. Right. You know what I'm saying? Soon, Goon get down and recording. this verse. But I swear to God,

everybody like, boy, this shit is gonna go crazy. And all this thing going with the hardest. Everybody, we got, we're like,

well, that nigga's snout. You know what I'm saying? Shit crazy like that, man. Interesting. So y'all were all on the same page or having the same ops when you made this song or you have to convince them

and explain? Like, no, we're talking about this dude, this dude and this dude. Nah, we're all from the same city so we all know everybody. Okay.

But everybody was on the same page. and some of everybody everybody's good for sure um does it feel does it feel weird that this definitely probably has had a positive impact

on your ops as well like their careers or career I see that definitely getting bigger right like more people paying attention interviews doing bigger numbers and you helped them out in that way right

see motherfuck's been already like like talking about many so so it's already they already been like you know what I'm saying See, right there, they got, they get, I was happy for him. Yeah? Like I said, like, see, everybody in the win, no matter if you like me or not. Right.

Because we discussed the whole situation with your birthday and the whole thing that happened and everything.

But it wasn't like we were talking about it in terms of like it being related in any way to rat beef. I think I was actually kind of oblivious to the realities of the shit. But yeah, now it's like all that shit is just out there on front street. I hate the fact that it's out of that like that. you did it though you put it out there what are you talking about

it's like if it were just talking it would be considered snitching right but because this music is not snitching all this shit of art right this shit we all

we all rappers and shit we all in the industry so shit it should just be for entertainment okay for sure Definitely. When you decided to do the video, was it real intentional that you didn't want to have any guns in the video or nothing?

Or was that just the golf course making you play by their rules? I don't play with guns. I can't be around guns. Right. I'm a fellow, so I don't want to play with guns. Why the golf course, though? Do you ever play golf? Man.

I like talk golf. I remember my girlfriend, she first took me there in Jacksonville. And since then I always liked it. But in the video, it just kind of fit with the song, like the plot that we was going. We had so much to the video, but everything was going like me, I'd be last minute with certain shit, you get what I'm saying? So we had so much more to the video and then it's like that golf, that whole golf, that's all we need it.

That's all we need it. Just have fun and just to be there and just to be stars. You got, you got permission from the golf course to do that? They were trying to kick us off the primacy. All you see is all us in like three, four carts driving like fast, wreckless, flipping it over there by the father and not. shoot the video, jumping out from everybody's game, shooting. Like, that shit was great.

Wow. They're like, everybody looking at you. Like, we just turned. Like, oh, that shit was too funny, bro. I actually can't believe that you guys got away with it. They don't, I mean, like, it ain't, like, it ain't no wrong with it because, like, you can just come. Like, you get what I'm saying?

I'm going there and fill out the stuff. Like, you're good, you feel me? But, like, I've been meaning to go. I just, matter of fact, I just went top golf the other day. I took, like, see, like, this basketball team I sponsored. in Houston. See, I just took all in the top golf. See, this shit, people don't, see shit like that.

They don't promote stuff like that because it ain't no negativity in that. I'm almost surprised they even lay you sponsor a basketball team just because, like, feels like even that would be kind of controversial. See what I'm saying? So we went to top golf, the whole team, you know what I'm saying? We're chilling playing with them, you know what I'm saying? He'd chicken wings and stuff like that. Took pictures, game, like merch and stuff like that.

To them keep going, you know what I'm saying. I'd be trying to tell them like, the streets ain't the only way out. The streets are on the way out? Ain't the only way out. Oh, okay. That's real. Streets are on the feet. You can't beat the streets for sure.

So just like that, just them hearing that for me or like, you know what I'm saying? Get them some motivation. Right. Just somebody coming from the streets, making it out and like coming back and talking to them. It like, get them another step. Like, okay, I can do it. Right. Hey said I can do it.

I can do it. You know what I'm saying? Just shit like that. But I mean, it's kind of like a mixed message to them too, though, because it's like you had to go through all this crazy street shit to basically end up in the position where you had the credibility to rap about that kind of shit. And we all know that it's like if you make a fucking album about picking flowers and how you like gardening and drinking wine on the beach and shit, I don't think that young and A's the album is going to do that good.

Nah, they don't see that niggins. I mean, that's positive shit. They don't like shit like that. Do you ever want to make music like that though and just like keep it on the hard drive? Because, you know, nobody won't want to hear it. See, so crazy because I make my own, like I make all type of music. You know what I'm saying? So whatever I feel needs to go out, I'm putting it out. I don't care. Nobody like it or not.

Because I make music off like how I feel. Like, depending on how the vibe is and the studio, that's how I'm delivering it. When I was listening to the album, there was like moments, especially at the beginning where I'm like, oh, maybe this ain't going to be a whole album full of crazy-ass street talking. And then pretty quickly, I'm like, oh, no, he's going to probably find a way to spit a little bit of that

and damn near all these songs. man i's so crazy because i'm why i come from so i always like mention certain shit right you know what i'm saying but it's like you got when you listen to the old album oh yeah he's different you know what I'm saying

yeah it's crazy because i kind of like go back and forth in my head where there's like sometimes i'm listening to this shit and I'm like bro like ace like it's just so much negativity you're bringing into the world bro but then i really put myself in your shoes and think about how I would

feel or what I would do if I had had certain things done to me or my friends or family members or whatever and it just feels like, you know, how could I ever pass judgment on you for that when I ain't been in that situation?
