TITLE CREDITS God, playing on the road. Yeah, tough. Live, live, live.
Starting point is 00:02:55 Live, live. Good first court. Yeah, yeah. I felt all the eyeballs move into a herse. Word words, V2. That's good stuff. We got a lot to cover. We're going to save a lot of the TC verse Charlotte stuff, I think, for tomorrow in front of a Charlotte stuff, I think, for tomorrow in front of a live audience, I think.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Well, TC is compiling data still, right? I mean, you're giving it an honest shot. I'm doing it. It's a discovery right now. Yeah. We went around last night. We ate at a couple of places. I think we went one for two last night. Amazing meal last night, which we'll get into. Amazing meal. We'll get into that. I got written up in the Charlotte Observer, I guess. You got asked to go on local news. Yeah, local news. I think the NBC affiliate here and then... You said no? No, TBD. TBD. And then the Axios, the Axios bros, they're coming at
Starting point is 00:03:37 me. And Tiny Money. They're trying to cancel me. Well, we had some fine folks out there today. Most of the course today was great and very, some very nice people. A couple of them said, glad TC's not with you. But a couple of them were like, I don't disagree with this takes, but I got a ride for my city. I feel like a lot of people are just, they're kind of stuck. You're not wrong. You're just an asshole. Yeah. That's exactly. That's fair. A bald asshole. We did walk a lot of the golf course. They had a great walk with the gentleman to my left and to my right. DJ, you know, you kind of led the charge
Starting point is 00:04:09 on this saying, you know, like we talked a lot about Quail. We need to go see it out in person. Anything surprise you? Anything stick out to you from walking the golf course today? Yes. How do I say this? Here we go. I really enjoy, I really enjoyed the walk. I think this is not a hot take, but like when you come to these events It's a lot. It's very easy to sit in the media center It's very easy to watch press conferences where nothing beats just getting out walking all 18 seeing the whole place Which is what we got to do today, which was great. I think a lot of the stuff that Is good about quail hollow doesn't come through on TV, which is tough
Starting point is 00:04:40 Which is tough and which is where I kind of like I don't really regret You know missing a lot of that stuff But when you do get in person you don't realize like the land that the property sits on is really good. It's a good walk It's a lot of ups and downs. That's almost a I'm sticking to the positives work it to your side go later. It's No, it's it's it's a pretty dynamic piece of land and I think you get to that back nine starting on 14 and you're like, this feels big. That front nine, there's a lot of pretty forgettable, pretty forgettable
Starting point is 00:05:09 stuff, you know, but you get to that back corner, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and it feels big. That's where it kind of felt a little bit more like a major. It's gonna be a lot of people back there. Those holes are much more interesting. And so it was just good to, you know, it's a lot of the stuff we talk about. You don't see the slopes on the greens through the TV. You don't see a lot of the, you know, there's just kind of some cool vistas up from a lot of those teas. Is it, you know, under realized and all of those words that people like to use? Like for sure. But it's, it was much less offensive, I think in person and I really enjoyed the stroll. It was never offensive though. It's, it's fine. I think it's inoffensive. That's the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:05:45 It's a little overexposed for me. Uh, but I will. First thing you think of is, man, this is a really well conditioned, well camped yard. Yeah. Man, I would love to have this grass. Lot of grass, lot of grass, lot of grass that maybe we all need. To that point, like the conditioning part is like, they're going to be able.
Starting point is 00:06:04 It looks like to withstand the barrage of rain they've got on the greens. The excellent conditioning in the sub-air system is going to pay off, I think, in some way this week of like, most golf courses that they play majors on are very well conditioned. That's just like a prerequisite. But the exceptional way they've maintained these greens has a chance to pay off in a big way because they got five inches of rain since May 3rd like It's the whole golf course is so wet, but the greens you wouldn't really know it Tc, can you pull off one of your shoes? You're wearing? This was a heady play
Starting point is 00:06:33 Where these like my clogs out there today? Yeah, these are my Birkenstocks I graduated from the from the Crocs to the Birkenstocks DJ wore his platform shoes today to get ready for our to the broken stocks. DJ wore his platform shoes today to get ready for our high count. We decided in case you missed, was that the last happy hour or was that Sunday? That was Sunday. Yeah. TC and I had a whole thing about who's taller and I've been sitting with that and reflecting on it the last couple of days. We've decided. You're a little shook now. Yeah. I don't love my, the odds makers don't love me. TC went to the chiropractor on Monday. That was so messed up. God, I'm trying to stay Monday. That was so messed up. I'm trying to stay calm. It was so messed up.
Starting point is 00:07:06 TC went right to the chiropractor to get stretched out as he was taller. It's crazy. Looks like four inches taller than he was last week. Can I tell you something? We decided we're going to we're going to do the measurement in front of the studio audience tomorrow. So we've been intentionally that's why we're seated on opposite sides. We don't we haven't been standing next to each other.
Starting point is 00:07:23 We don't want to, you know, we're trying we're trying not to, uh, to spoil it. So we'll do that. If there's any like, um, you know, what's it called? Notaries in the audience tomorrow, maybe they can kind of really rubber stamp that thing, but we'll, we'll solve that tomorrow. What were we talking about? Where were we? Hold on. I, I, about the course. So I want to invert, uh, uh, kind of a segment we do, I was in the bird in delight. I want to say something that was unsurprising and that something I was undelighted by unsurprised that we ran into team Rose on seven DJ of course, check the T sheet and get out and get eyes on.
Starting point is 00:07:56 How could that not be a delight? He hit an absolute. Well, I was just unsurprised by it. That's not the end of it. He. Hidden absence seed into seven with a three wood shot. And Justin Raystatt, the only guy to be in the top 15 of a PGA championship the last five years, I believe. Nobody's talking about team Rose. Playing with John Catlin, which surprised me and Daniel Berger. But I bring that up because seven, something that undelights me is I really think seven's a great hole. I do.
Starting point is 00:08:28 If there's anything I miss from Valhalla is the falling water. I wish there was some more falling water. I think they could get, especially the waterfall on 18. Isn't it big enough for you? I hear, yeah, no, I'm saying saying how I'm saying like out on seven. Like if we're going to do it, let's do it. And I think on the green mile, that big lake, I think we can have like maybe just your classic features, some features, you know, a little sprinkler in the middle. Get a car out there. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, it's interesting. Just
Starting point is 00:08:58 a couple on site observations. I heard from a friend of the friend of the pod who we were talking to out there right after that we split off. You guys didn't let me follow Rose in, which was very messed up. But he stuck around. He said, team Rose walking off that green and looked every single person in the eye who was cheering him on said, thank you. Thank you. They're like, honestly, that's so cool.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Pretty class. Pretty class. Can't argue that. So, you know, take that for what you will. Team Rose loves bankers I feel very comfortable here. He knows it takes a team Well, let's see what you can lean on let's get in We're gonna get into some quotes about the golf course that were shared this past week
Starting point is 00:09:35 But again before we get there, I'm gonna give you I'm gonna give you four positives about quail hall if you'll allow me Okay, I think there's some excellent run-up areas to the greens again back on the conditioning note I don't know exactly what kind of grass is is I should know this but they have a different Kind of grass in the fringes and run-up areas that can allow shots to they have Tahoma on the I was talking to Couple people about this today. They have to homo in the run-up areas and then it's just Overseated rye training wheels in the fairways. But it's a nice, like, firm adjacent area for nice run-up areas and creates some nice short grass around some of the greens.
Starting point is 00:10:11 I would say that the bunkers are not, they're not like awkwardly removed from where they should be. Some of these golf courses that we rip on a little too much, like they're too far set back into some places. They have some spots where they cut into fairways just a little bit. It's not amazing, but it's, you know, that's a small positive. I would say there's some positive and then some good contouring on the greens, some good tiers on some of them.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Seven has an interesting concept here. A front left pin, if they use that on seven looked interesting. We saw Catlin put it off the green from down below on that one. Got to control your spin this week. And it's Valhalla had just mega flat greens. Like it was, it was very silly. And again, I'm trying to point out Quail's in a it's, Valhalla had just mega flat greens. Like it was very silly. And again, I'm trying to point out, Quail's in a different class than Valhalla.
Starting point is 00:10:48 They were especially hard on that golf course. And Quail is much more mid. Valhalla is just genuinely not good. I feel like the people of Scarlett should be sending Christmas cards and gifts to the people of Louisville. Louisville is a much better city, I think, from a restaurant and everything perspective
Starting point is 00:11:06 But quail hollow and ball hollow not even in the same ballpark as far as this is a far better golf course And I'd say there's just a there's a mix of some good short grass areas around the greens I think there should be a lot more and come back on on the back nine Well, you're not on the front nine, right? Like that was one of our observations was you look at a whole like 15 that part five And we were talking about out there Neil. We're like, man. This is like really cool bunkers are in cool places There's a lot of cool runoffs. There's a lot of tools on that wall But it's like this almost feels like what you could do a lot more on the front line
Starting point is 00:11:35 Yeah, maybe there's reasons why they can't they can spend another 25 million dollars redoing most grass I would say we could definitely smell the fuzz is the most most of grass. I would say we could definitely smell the fuzzies and the musk. Coat your grandfathers. A lot of bunkers on the outside of dog legs. The old rattle pointed out on the first hole. They're like, yeah, the bugger just on the outside of the dog leg inside of the dog inside out. It's like, kind of like, yeah, that did shake me a little bit. But there is just like,
Starting point is 00:12:03 I'm not very good at this at like looking at a hole and being like, oh, they should do this, they should do this, except when you get to quail, some stuff just sticks out so freaking hard. Like we got to seven, the rough between the fairway and the, it's one of the best features they have on the whole course is the water that runs right of seven. That fairway should be pushed all the way up against that. You want to hit the fairway and hit this green and two risk going in the water, put some elements of risk into it and you can look at it. And then it brings that bunker on the left into play. If you're trying to avoid that. Yeah, I agree.
Starting point is 00:12:29 But the players wouldn't like that. Quill Hollow, it is nothing if not a, you know, Webb Simpson set of pass. I think that takes you to our quotes section. There are so many areas around these greens that are not the thickest rough, but thick enough to stop a ball that are flat and genuinely just easy spots easy spots to bail for a major championship and that's again the good the critique here is like This is a PJ tour golf course a good PJ tour golf. It's solid but you get to some of these spots And you're just like oh if you get out of position here just bail long left and you're chipping
Starting point is 00:13:00 It's totally fine to chip to any pin and that's what what I think separates it or fails to separate it from other golf courses. Anyway, some of the quotes we got this week. Gabby Herzog's excellent article in the Athletic. Again, not our quotes. No, these are coming from others. There's others too. Hunter Mahan delivered one of the quotes of the week, says, I guess I would say Quail Hollow is like a Kardashian.
Starting point is 00:13:20 It's very modern, beautiful, and well-kept, but it lacks a soul or character. Just, that's just devastating. Perfect approximation. It's, it's, it's a good representation of Charlotte. Right. Right. And Gabby in the media center, before we said anything, she's kind of like gave her a look. She's like, yeah, I know, man. Like that quote, that quotes everywhere. Yeah. A hundred rules. Web Simpson said the course is very challenging, but it's not tricked up.
Starting point is 00:13:47 Guys love to be challenged in the right way, not tricked up, but real tough golf holes and quail has great variety of them. We will only be challenged. The challenges that we consent to. Yeah. This is what we're telling you how to agree with everything in that. Variety. The variety.
Starting point is 00:14:04 But the last part just I flat out from my eye, not true. The only thing I'd push, I mean, I guess like, yeah, just the front and back just felt wildly different to me. But the variety being, it's all kind of crammed into those last five holes. Well, you challenged me, I want you to give me, and we're gonna do it tomorrow. Like give me two holes you like, two holes you don't. I got to like 14th hole was like kind of interesting. I was like, man, what is the second hole that I, what is the second hole? It's fine. Anyways, some
Starting point is 00:14:28 more quotes. Cool. I like 18. Justin Thomas, again, kind of two pretty devastating quotes here just JT, I feel like a place like this where it doesn't necessarily require a lot of thought or strategy off the tee. It's generally pulling out driver and I just need to hit this as far and straight as possible. Kyle Dyrden, Rory McIlroy said I thought it was going to feel different just because it's a major championship.
Starting point is 00:14:49 And I got out on the golf course yesterday and it felt no different than last year at the Wells Fargo. Also not the current sponsor, the other bit. Uh, he said the rough is maybe a little juicier, but the fairways are the same cut lines and same visuals. It doesn't feel that much different. That's a tough one. Which puts a lot of pressure.
Starting point is 00:15:04 This is maybe silly, stupid, like golf inside business stuff, but it like, it doesn't feel that much different. That's a tough one. Which puts a lot of pressure. This is maybe silly, stupid, like golf inside business stuff. But like when you hear a quote like that from someone like Rory, I feel like that puts a ton of pressure on presentation, fan experience, like going above and beyond on a lot of that other stuff. And I guess we'll see how that shows out. We're going to get a banger of a leaderboard on Sunday. Probably. And they're going to be like, see how that shows out. We're going to get a banger of a leaderboard on Sunday. Probably. And they're going to be like, see?
Starting point is 00:15:26 Told you guys. I think what's hard about it, this is what Sal and I were talking about this today, is again, no shade to anybody. Perfectly fine golf course. It just doesn't make you super excited to watch the first like 63 holes. You know, it's kind of like a little bit of a like, coming down the street. Sunday morning, man. I'll probably be pumped.
Starting point is 00:15:44 You know what they always say. like a little bit of a like coming down the Sunday morning, man. I'll probably have four. I'll probably be pumped. You know what they always say. I'm excited about the storylines. Like 17 that part three. You didn't think it's that interesting. I'm like, I think that down the stretch, like that's that's a that's stress and drama to me. Like it's a striking R3. That's a good finish.
Starting point is 00:15:58 And if somebody has a two shot lead and Bales long, right. And easily chips on the green. You might like I would feel like I want it to be like no you got to pass the test here even with a lead this is in doubt open this one can I I got a course for each of you a comparative course each I'll start with you actually no TC I'll start with you well hollow or Atlanta Athletic Club well they're about to blow up okay but the current but like so I was I was saying at the athletic club today because. Like my issue isn't necessarily just with Quail, it's just with like,
Starting point is 00:16:31 you know, this place is just overexposed and it'd be the same thing if if. Major championship went to Eastlake or every year we went to Atlanta Athletic. Yeah. Right. And it's like, no, like we don't even do that. So but what's your answer? I'd say I think this is a better probably a better golf course than the current iteration. Okay. I got a question for you. The only build on that real quick in case we don't come back to it is like, I feel like Torrey Pines is a good comp. Yeah. But even that is February for the farmers versus June for the US Open. Whereas this, as you said, the other day is like, that's like a week later than it usually is. So it's like really the same
Starting point is 00:17:08 time. Really? Yeah. Really? So it's a Muirfield village. I knew that was coming. Versus I'm trying to make them, you know, definitely Muirfield. You have a lot of no contest. Definitely Muirfield. But you're not like far off with that. I don't think so either. That's where that then that's kind of where I'm putting Quail Hollow is with with Muirfield. But I don't know if I'd be super excited if they took the PGA to Muirfield. I'd probably like Muirfield a much more interesting golf course. I think that's the criticism. It's not so much like quail hollow sucks. It's just like, man, I feel good with this as a PGA tour stop. I feel like I could be I don't know, could be wrong. Check me on this. But I feel like the downside around the greens at Muirfield is much sharper. Whereas there were a lot of spots out there today where it's like, if you're walking around with a yardage book, you're just like big swaths of just like miss the bunker or even hit it in the bunker.
Starting point is 00:17:55 It's not that bad, but like all this is fine over here. Whereas Muirfield village feels a little more like a exacting iron test. Cause it's like, if you miss, it's going to be tough. The roughs a lot thicker, greens are going to be, I'm maybe the greens will be fast. It's such a striking difference too, to watching TBC Sawgrass. We're like, we were next to the third green. If you go over the bunker short left of the green,
Starting point is 00:18:15 like there's just some big flattish rough area that you can chip to any pin from. Whereas like, if you go like left of the second green at TBC Sawgrass, there's moguls, there's mounds, there's a combination of deep rough, short rough, and short grass in there. You do not know what you're going to get. It is not just like I hit it over there and figure it out. You're going to pay a penalty there. That's where some of us nerds that really care about shot value, a lot of that gets thrown out the window. And that's not even our words. Literally just listen to the other people describing this golf course that are playing in it. And that's where I don't care about this stuff. But these these podcasters solid. That's where I'm struggling a little bit with, you know, some of these guys talking
Starting point is 00:18:53 about all the golf course architecture nerds are saying this or that or whatever. And it's like, all right, cool. Like, tell tell me what you like about this place. Other than winning scores going to be like 1500. under like it's gonna be great. I couldn't agree to that more. That's what I feel like I've seen more and more pushback to that, which is totally fine. But it's like, yeah, well, I would love to hear the other side of the argument or just like it's it's sick. It's so pure.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Or if it's so good, why do you why do you keep manipulating every year and bringing the FOS back to bilk Johnny Harris out of tens of millions of dollars over and over and over again. Crazy. I have two for you. Oh, one because one I'm not super familiar with. I know they just redid it but Quail Hollow versus Medina and Hazel Teane. Hazel Teane is a really good comp. I feel like Hazel Teane. I would take Quail Hollow over Hazel Teane. For sure.
Starting point is 00:19:43 I think I would too. Yeah, I think I would too. We don't see Hazel Teane. What about think I would do. Yeah, I think I would. You don't see Hazel. What about Beth? He has a little bit of gravitas Medina. I'm going to play the fifth because I haven't seen the new new one. Old Medina, though, I would probably take Quail Hollow over old Medina, too. OK, what about Beth Page? I
Starting point is 00:20:00 I take Beth Page, honestly, some of that's probably because I haven't. I don't see it as often Yeah, and I think that's a Especially after the expose, yeah, I said Bethpage sugar like at least has some variety and some of that thick straw II. Yeah There's just no texture out Grass yeah It's a lot like Charlotte. Yeah. A lot of grass. It's a lot like Charlotte.
Starting point is 00:20:26 It's a good game, Neil. I like the, I like the, this place with that place. Yeah. Good comp. I think that's great. I think it's a good game. But it also, it's like Quail's not, even if, even if they got bit or, you know, got beat by one of those examples, like all of those are good golf courses, I think.
Starting point is 00:20:40 It's jazz chism. It's mid. That's exactly what it is. It's just a bummer that we were talking about this. God, he's placed such good defense. Because there's not a whole lot else to talk. It feels like we're at a signature event. There should have been a pro-AM today. I was thinking about that, though.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Or Creator Classic. We were saying it doesn't feel big because there's not a Creator Classic. Well, I was- That was Neil's joke. I stole that deal. I'm sorry. Every... The last four years, though, it's been electric once the tournament starts. Yeah. I mean, Officer Gillis, we're gonna have- Bill Mikkelsen. We had a Good golf tournament. You know, bro. Oh, kill was electric. Just with good,
Starting point is 00:21:08 good golf and a golf course. We don't see a lot of them. So it almost, I was saying my, my takeaway a little bit or, or my analogy was in, in a, from a country club standpoint, it's not the club championship. It's the member guests like, yeah, it's a, we might get out of the skis, but the horse race is going to be fun at the end. You know, it's gonna be good at the end. I guess the whole thing is lights, you know, I'm not aggrieved by it. It's fine. But I'll say of all of it, the part that bums me out the most is I honestly, I don't know if I can even talk myself into a non bomber winning this thing. It is become it is so one note
Starting point is 00:21:41 that even before the week starts all the golf course setup, the changes they've made to it, nine is like five thirty now a par four Like it is going to be a Bombers delight in every single way that it's like it just I don't know I would like to I like to go into with some mystery sprinkle in five inches of rain as well Just what was the stone? Oh, yeah, I want to hear I want to hear who the rest of these guys were It was a great sad. This was sent over by, uh, Ron Kloss from bet spurts. Um, he guys is Ron Kloss having a moment. I know he's hot pain or something. No,
Starting point is 00:22:12 he just has a lot of good data. A lot of good info. Uh, he said there are 11 players in the PJ championship that have a combination of 180 ball speed and 110, uh, feet apex height. On average, I assume drive fast and really high. Yeah. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:22:30 I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:22:38 I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm Lee is a good one. Ludwig is barely on it. Ram? Ram is not. Xander's not on it either.
Starting point is 00:22:52 Xander's not on. We could do this forever, but Gary Woodland, David Pooge, Wyndham Clark. I didn't realize Gary Woodland hit it that high. Michael Thorbjornsson, Taylor Pendreth, and Brooks Koepka. I didn't realize Brooks hit it that high. I didn't really either. Great stat. Listen,'t really either. So great stat. But if you're seeing some great gear on some of us sitting up here, especially this nice little trap draw rowback trap. Our polo.
Starting point is 00:23:13 You guys talking about my hat? This is a trap draw rowback. I shouldn't have to say because you already know rowback has our favorite polos, hoodies, shorts, pants, you name it best fit, best feel. It's getting to be summer. The Roback USA collection is here. You had that on actually earlier today. It looked fantastic. It's one of our favorite collections of the year.
Starting point is 00:23:30 The designs are great. There's something about that red, white and blue. It just hits different. Roback's got you covered. The print design, stripes, they added the American flag on the back neck, just for an extra little touch. Also the Looper shorts. I got some on today.
Starting point is 00:23:42 They're fantastic. Every time I put them on, I'm more amazed with the stretch waistband, the wrinkle-free nature of them. They're great length. They're just the best pair of shorts I've ever worn. They're super comfortable. Perfect for the golf course or off the golf course. Time to load up on some Roeback. Ahead of summer, use code NLU at roeback.com.
Starting point is 00:23:57 For juniors, 20% off your first order. Through the end of this week, that's spelled R-H-O-B-A-C-K.com. 20% off all polos, shorts, with code and L U you want to put some quotes stage we got a little game prepared. You want to do a little who said it. Sure. Guess who? Guess who?
Starting point is 00:24:13 Uh, all right. I was just, you know, there's nothing crazy dynamic in here, but a couple of interesting ones that I think will lead to some talking points where can we, let me just get this one out of the way. Uh, quote, we're representing the 31,000 that talked to the 28.1 million. Don Reeve. Don Ray. Ray. I would think. Yeah, Ray. Okay. Pastor Don. The last Don. I just threw that one. That was red meat. I know you're loving that one. I might. I think in that press conference, I watched the whole
Starting point is 00:24:41 thing. I think he said on behalf of the 31,000, at least three times. You know what? One more thing. One more thing. I'd like to opine on that. Yeah. Just absolutely out-thing your boy, D. Sprague. I mean, he had a lot more energy than, you know, the new CEO. I mean, at least he was... They were like... I don't know. He was commanding the space he occupied up there on the six exact mentions of 31,000. Of the 31,000 PGA professionals.
Starting point is 00:25:05 Of course, they were so, yeah. They were both contradicting one another. Do you, do you would jump in? I mean, it was one of the most T.C. was all it was like Zapruder in the press conference yesterday for background information, this was the press conference with Derek Sprague, who's the CEO of PJ of America, Don Ray, who's the president of PJ of America. And Kerry Hague, who's the chief championships officer.
Starting point is 00:25:27 That's the press conference that you were talking about. And all three had very different vibes. Kerry Hague just sounded like, I'm not interested in answering your questions. Dude, I just read the transcript. I didn't watch the video, but in the transcript, it came off as like very weirdly defensive. Yeah, well.
Starting point is 00:25:41 I don't know if that was the vibe on video sometimes. Defensive even a little condescending. Of like, why, you know, why, I don't have to answer that. vibe on video. Sometimes it's a little condescending. Honestly, there was a very deep, deep lack of truthfulness in some of their answers as well. From Hague, it was very much like, I don't know you guys anything. Our entire ethos with this championship is to react to the golf course that we're given. So we're just reacting to this place. OK, yeah. It was weirdly like catering to players as in like, but also I don't talk to players. Yeah, I don't talk to the players.
Starting point is 00:26:17 It's not my job. It's like, OK, then what do we do? You know, it's just. I don't like it when it's combative, Like your questions are pointless before I even get up here. It's like that's not that it doesn't have to be that way. Whoever asked these questions finally was like, you know, Ferguson, I want to have a great week. Sorry. I'm not talking about our parking. Like talk to me about the golf course.
Starting point is 00:26:37 Kerry, it was especially like what a valid question. Yeah, like this is a PGA Tour event. Now you're hosting a major. You're going to do anything different or anything different. And it was just, yeah, they cut the fairways yesterday morning and he said they didn't cut the fairways yesterday. It was, they didn't cut the rough yesterday. Okay. But the whole thing and then going back to the rollback stuff too,
Starting point is 00:26:59 there's a lot of just like, we have no idea what they're even thinking. Like we haven't had any talks at all versus... No, no. He said about Liv stuff, but he said they talk regularly with the USGA. He said, we haven't had any talks at all about Ryder Cup or PGA Championship, joint venture or deepening ties with the PGA Tour. And then Ray chimes in and he's like, yeah, we talk to those guys like all the time. And like, I think you and Murray had a big piece of like,
Starting point is 00:27:29 yeah, like they've had deep discussions because I'm sure he's getting all this stuff from the DP World Tour and like, yeah, we've had deep discussions about the PGA Tour taking a more active role with the Ryder Cup and offloading this to them for a larger fee. So just an unserious or... It was a weird press conference from what I gathered in there.
Starting point is 00:27:47 So on behalf of the 31000, thank you for your question for that. The first response. 28 million. May 31,000 who talked to the 28 million. It's like it's like the guys in office space that I take the plans from the engineers. The engineers aren't good to talk. They're not good at talking to the customers. I'm a people person.
Starting point is 00:28:09 People person. God damn it. Don is a people person. He was electric up there on the pulpit. All right, let's move on. This next quote, this is kind of a quote, I'm kind of Frankenstein in this thing to clean it up a little bit. I've tried not to watch it a lot because I want to remember the feelings I had I've talked about this before But I think when I rewatch a lot of things back
Starting point is 00:28:32 I only remember the visuals of the TV rather than what I was feeling and seeing through my own eyes So I've tried not to watch it back too much Rory Mackerel that was Rory Mackerel talking about I thought that was just a really cool quote. Talking about the winning the grand slam, winning the masters for such a like wildly famous moment that's going to live in golf history forever. I really enjoyed that perspective of, man, I I'm the only person who remembers what it felt like for me. And I don't want to turn it into like some YouTube video that I just watched. Isn't that a good quote? Yeah, I thought that was super interesting.
Starting point is 00:29:04 I really liked that. Cause yeah, your memory will forever be of like the YouTube part of it. Totally. And I honestly, to that point, like I was behind 18 Green, but I couldn't see anything and I still haven't, I've seen the still images,
Starting point is 00:29:17 but I haven't seen like him making the final putt yet. I'll probably watch it, but it's like, you know, it was like a word of mouth. It was just like based on the crowd reaction. Yeah. So I don't know. I that that one really struck me. I really like that quote a lot.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Uh, next quote. It would be an honor to bring the break 50 series to Quail Hall. You really said that today. His presser, I think yesterday, that was Brian. He think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one.
Starting point is 00:29:49 I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one.
Starting point is 00:29:57 I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one. I think that's a good one to do something at Quail Hollow? And I think it was like, Oh yeah, it'd be an honor to bring this week, but it black
Starting point is 00:30:07 and white out of context, it would be an honor to bring the break to Quail Hollow. Bryson should do something with the 31,000. Deeply dystopian quote. Do you think Bryson, if given the choice, would rather play in the PGA championship this week or do a breaking 50 video this week? I think he'd rather play because I PGA championship this week or do a breaking 50 video this week. I think he'd rather play because I think he's going to win by a lot. Yeah, and I think he still cares about those trophies. All right, a couple more, which is good.
Starting point is 00:30:36 I thought this was a good one, too. It's been a process for me to get back to that point where I'm okay hitting bad shots or hitting it out of place. That's been a process coming back. Thinking back to last year, I was in such a good state of mind. All I was doing was trying to win tournaments. If I had to hit a shot lefty on the last hole, I wasn't going to be rattled links. Master. Speaker 2 I was going to say Spieth. Speaker 1 Zander Schauffele. I thought that was super interesting. He was talking about
Starting point is 00:31:01 how last year he just got into this mode of like, I do not care what happens. I'm just going to win. And I just am going to keep hitting good shots. And if I hit a bad one, the next one's going to be good. And he's like, man, I came back from injury. I'm like, just not as sharp as I was. And I'm hitting bad shots. I'm not really dealing with it the same way. And Zander's always much more interesting than people give him credit for. A lot like a lot like Scotty. And I just I enjoyed that. I think it's more interesting than people give him credit for a lot like a lot like Scotty and I just I enjoyed that. Brian Lavner had a great piece this week on Zander's dad's apocalypse compound in Hawaii that he's building. That's sweet. Oh, God. Fly me there.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I was talking about place and it was like, yeah, dad, I understand you now. That's what he said at the end of it. All right. Last one. Couple different directions we could go here. I like this one. It's always a battle to try to stay in the present. I think when I was in college, my coach did a really good job of helping me learn that skill. He really preached when you're at the golf course, you're at the golf course.
Starting point is 00:32:01 When you're in class, you're in class. When I'm out doing stuff with my friends, I'm out doing that. I don't want to be hanging out with my wife thinking about my golf swing. And I don't want to be out at the golf course thinking about being at home, doing stuff. Brian Harmon, Scott Scheffler. That's Scott Scheffler. Of course. The goat at just seemingly staying in the presence. And that I just think is like the most underrated skill in humanity.
Starting point is 00:32:24 You're playing with their trouble. I'm getting ahead of yourself. What herated skill. I know. Humanity. Playing away from trouble. Not getting ahead of yourself. What he's talking about right there. Like, yeah, that's incredible. That's what I had. Just a fun couple days of press. With podcasting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Let alone like pressure cooker major golf. Winning majors. Yeah. He's such a stud. All right. Well, let's not beat around the horse any more than we already have. We've been on the horse. Beat around the horse. Bush. Beat around the bush. Let's not beat around the horse anymore than we already have. Beat around the horse? Bush.
Starting point is 00:32:47 Beat around the bush. Let's not beat a dead horse. Let's not beat a dead horse. Apparently there was an executive. What did I just say? My brain is all over the place. This guy kept track of over like a 40-year career of all the people that did that, like, combined two analogies, like, does the pope shit in the woods, you know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Well, no, that's too different. Well, you know what? We're beating around the woods. Yeah. Like, well, no, that's different. Well, you know what we're beating around the horse. Let's keep beating around the horse now that you bring it up. He had like a list of like 500 of them. Anyway, please. Some interesting pairings this week. Um, first one up Keegan Bradley, El Capitan is playing with Maverick McNeely and one Andrew Novak in the opening round. What a random pairing from the PGA of America. I am so in on that. Like this is so... This is so vindicating, I think, of you just
Starting point is 00:33:31 like treating this as if it's some thousand-year storm that could never possibly happen. Well, catch me up. So what's your Novak take? Because I'm sensing there's a... What's your Novak take? So innocently, I was like, I don't know, guys playing really good golf? Not a lot of great Americans? Andrew Novak take? So innocently, I was like, I don't know, guys playing really good golf, not a lot of great Americans. Andrew Novak, is there a chance? And Solly just like, refused to acknowledge it. It was crazy. A lot of odds on guys on that list.
Starting point is 00:33:52 I just don't know how many years we need. Solly wants to change things up, but he also wants to just go back to the boys club. I've survived so many iterations of this that I just like, you have it. I assume body I assume that we will remember like the Kevin Na campaign in 2021 the Kevin Kisner one the Lucas Glover and the one that went through August. Well, it is May if this was happening all throughout this summer. I think we could visit this conversation but I just I'm not going to get swept up in a moment come May where me my associate TC get on board is like, what if he keeps playing well? That
Starting point is 00:34:27 would be amazing. And that's what I'm saying. Like where he's going to need. No, he has it. He doesn't have enough credit. What is having enough credits for that toy right now? What if he keeps playing well? What if all of these things do not allow so much what if between now and September, you got to say, I think I feel confident that this is going to happen. I need you to put your name on things. Yeah. I do this all the time. I feel confident in this. I feel confident. Sam Johnson, I think should be on the team. I hope Andrew Novak plays amazing golf through the rest of the year. I really do. I like rooting for him. I like watching him. I think he's funny. I think he gives me shit.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Back your ass down. What happened this week? I went up, introduced myself to him and he's like, hey, good to meet you in person. Hope I improve my Ryder Cup chances this week. It's great. Like he's in a good joke. Where are you at? Let me give you a, I'll give you a Sam Burns versus Andrew Novak. Like if they were playing next week, I'd pick Andrew Novak. Okay. I'm not a big Burns guy though right now. Okay. But like, do I think it's more likely that somebody else is going to have played good golf through the end of the year and be a better candidate than Andrew Novak? Like I do. Okay. He's playing for the National Take, but it sounds like
Starting point is 00:35:35 you were shouting down my guy for dreaming. Well, I can't do a full year of just like good shot in there from Harris English. Should he be on the team? He's like, why would we even get out of the game? He's playing on a team. Yeah, he's playing really good. I'm just pulling out random names. Auchie. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:35:55 What I would contend is there's just no reason to watch about that stuff. That's true. That's what we I need it. I need it, man. Otherwise, I'm skipping the first 63 and I'll catch you guys on the back. Fun trip. Serious take. His ball striking is not at a level that I would be very strongly considering for a place like Beth Page. What a measure. Great around the green. Super helpful. Thank you. Are you going to shorten it though? Maybe, but he's like not long. He's not accurate. He's not especially good iron player. Great around the greens. Great on the greens the greens But like I just don't think that formula guys. Guess what?
Starting point is 00:36:26 Is he he can plays with both these guys and he just picks himself Breakfast this morning was scoffing at Novak's lone victory this year, which came scoffing at No Vex loan victory this year, which came in a team event. Admittedly, the writer is a team event. And admittedly, I was thinking he won the truest for a second this morning. I was a little foggy and I forgot it was a no. That's that's my guy set. Of course, you also need to apologize. I don't know. He's a step guy.
Starting point is 00:36:56 He played great in the MVP of the West Coast. Which is a good comp for that age. I feel great. I mean, not very good on a Sunday when the pressure was on. Will you admit, admit this, this pairing is not by accident. 100%. The PGA of America runs the Ryder Cup,
Starting point is 00:37:12 they run this week. They're gonna put Keegan Bradley with whoever he wants to get eyes on. And that at least has to make you think that there's a chance that this is being considered. Yes, I'll admit that. Okay. That's exciting. Wow. Watching you guys
Starting point is 00:37:24 in my community. It's a good story. I was surprised by it. Let me just, let me get that That's exciting. Oh my god. You guys like or unity. Yeah, it's a good story. I was surprised by it I let me just believe and hey, you know what? No, what? Do you think he's gonna be on a team right now? Oh No, but that's I'm betting on him. I think he is I hope so. Okay, that's what I'm rooting for. I think he's a good Interesting with I'm not ready to be right. I'm rooting to just like good for him. If you had to lock the team in now for the Ryder Cup, would he be on your team?
Starting point is 00:37:53 Yes. I think he's like the 12th guy. Dude, he's a dude. He's a dog. He's a terrier. No, I'm not locking him in right now, but I'm also not like, I, when he says that, I'm like, you know, I'm not like absolutely not, you know, I'm like, yeah, that let me think about it. You know, I'm riding for my guy, Akshay.
Starting point is 00:38:10 If he puts a sustained summer together, it's a different conversation. Did you see him before or after you saw Alex Smalley and his mom? It's right around the same time. So I don't remember. Was that pretty jarring for you? It was very jarring. It was Alex Smalley's mom following up the walkway. I was like, oh yeah, this is a real thing. Other pairings of note. We got Rory's, Andrew and Scotty at eight 22 tomorrow morning. Brooks, Ricky and Shane Lowry seven 38. Phil Fleetwood and Jason day at seven 49.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Rom can't lay in fits at eight. That's the highlights of the morning wave, morning wave the afternoon JT DJ and Morikawa at 114 TC said I'm not DJ is done enough to earn that pairing which I think is interesting comment with Ludwig at 125 that could be a Ryder Cup pairing to what sorry say that one again be three in Ludwig that could be the PGA trying to put you know let's get this dream team back together. What's up with this Ludwig guy that just absolutely pants last time. Let's get him a look. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:11 Bring game. Yeah. I hope Reed gets this with it. Yeah. Jordan apologized for everything in 2018. It was good to clear the air. Yeah. Guessing guess my name is going to be Jordan Spieth. I mean this 1000% writers. Rider cup is such a black hole for me. Solly Keegan says, I can't do it. I need you to be the rider cup is such a black hole for me. Oh, sorry Keegan says I can't do it. I need you to be the Ryder Cup captain and it starts tomorrow and for some reason I'm gonna put we have to plan we have to either conflict of interest. We have to pick Novak or Patrick Reed. Oh my god
Starting point is 00:39:38 Okay, can I answer by the end of the show? After what I saw to Gusta and how greasy he was, give me Reed, no offense to anyone, Novak, I'm sorry. JJ Spawn or Patrick Reed. It's a team event, which you guys know. Yeah. It all depends on the philosophy of what you're gonna, are you trying to build a team?
Starting point is 00:39:58 I cannot stress how low the stakes of answering this question are, you can say anything you want. Low the stakes, are you gonna remind me of this every single day for the next four months? That's in traffic. Are you a gonna remind you of this every single day for the next four None of this is low stakes Yeah, we got a WD Across the world saw this WD. That's not good
Starting point is 00:40:16 Honestly, I could depend on like philosophy of what you're going Are you just trying to put the 12 most talented guys or you trying to like actually on the team? You know, I would be trying to form a team, but I was thing. Tease that out. Yeah. I need to get to know the personalities. A lot better answer. Remember that this I don't know. I don't know these guys on behalf of the 31,000 and so and the 28.1 and that's a lot of presentation. So I understand, you know, you get Alex small and you would need to get me one way to lay out my entire philosophy for how I would build the team before I can answer a question like that. How about that?
Starting point is 00:40:45 I think euros are going to wait on a home soil. I'll take Novak. Again, I want you to remember. We got five beans in the field this week. Reed shot like 84. I'm saying this is coming out of your mouth right now. Yeah. Reed shot like 84. Remember, I just want to watch the world turn now. Widen said Tiger apologized to him about how bad Tiger played, threw the captain under
Starting point is 00:41:04 the bus, complained about the pairings. about the pairings think about that content for us I'm are we thinking for this model. We're trying to win is a different question as well. Interesting Hideki Windham and Tom Kim at 136 Tom Kim was playing in the opposite field event last week in Myrtle Beach They played with a major champ a lot of these pairings have a guy that's like, I'm sorry What did you do to deserve this one? What the third guy in a lot of these pairings have a kind of like, I'm sorry. What did you do to deserve this one? What the third guy in a lot of these pairings? They should have put blocky instead of Tom Kim. God, we're blocking. It's such a poofer out there today. It was sick watching him play. What was that? 12.
Starting point is 00:41:34 12. Yeah. That pairing feels like a full swing pairing. It does. Like, hey, we got an episode. We're doing Hideki and, you know, Tom this week. Global Superstar. We got Bryson Victor and Gary Woodland at one 47. So we've got to wait for Bryson tomorrow, but he'll be in the TV window. So, all right, let's stop being around the Roy Scott, Ian Zander. Right. That's exactly right. We're done being around the horse. Uh,
Starting point is 00:41:56 we are going to make our picks to win the PGA championship in 2025. Quail how and DJ, you are up first. Pick to win. Bryson. I, I, I'm glad looking at his drive. I don't know. Exciting breakfast for us this morning. We're looking at Bryce's driving stats. And it truly, I mean, we were saying it on Sunday night too, but it's like, it's so far beyond what I think many casual fans are going to be. I mean, I think it's like, it's like the most exciting breakfast for us this morning. We're looking at Bryce's driving stats and it truly, I mean,
Starting point is 00:42:20 we were saying it on Sunday night too, but it's like, it's so far beyond, uh, what I think many casual fans are realizing, like how much better of a, like he was already such a good driver of the golf ball and he's taken a massive step forward this week. And so as we're going to sit here for a half hour and talk about how this place is bombers only, like there is, you know, that's the prerequisite to get through the door. It's like, kind of feels like him versus six or seven other guys. And I just feel the best about him getting into that group of seven and
Starting point is 00:42:53 slamming the door. Like he's just, he's playing awesome golf. This place seems to fit him. And I don't know if you have anything else to add. I know. I mean, I'll just echo that. I'll go ahead and say, yeah, I'm picking them as well because I know I'll just echo that. I'll go ahead and say I'm picking him as well because it I feel like it is putting has actually been really good too and it's a place that emphasizes both driving distance and putting and it I don't want to say it minimizes approach play but like he can just bully this place in a way that like really it's it's so stock to say I feel like we're getting a Roy Bryson thing again, but I struggle to come up with any other conclusion.
Starting point is 00:43:29 I really do. I really like, did you guys read Joseph Lamonia had a piece with Fried Egg about like why Quail is so bomber friendly and his, I'm going to hopefully not butcher it, but his main point was it's because like you gain the most as a bomber, you gain the most advantage on drivable par fours and par fives. Eight. And because like that's where you can feed because his point was there's a big difference between a 15 yard pitch and a 25 yard pitch on a short par four.
Starting point is 00:43:57 And obviously there's a big difference between being able to get to the green and not being able to get to the green. And on the par fives, there's a big difference between being able to get to the green and not being able to get the green. And his point was like on the long par fours are just not as big of a difference between 150 and 160. And so out here it's like there's going to be a couple par fives that are right on the edge. Bryson's obviously going to be able to get to all of those. And there's a couple like you read Kerry Hegg stuff, you see the 14th hole. It's like there's a couple, was it four and eight that I think
Starting point is 00:44:23 14 and eight or 14 and eight. Sorry that can both play drivable and I just that's like a pretty obvious kind of like way to put it but when he distilled all that down I was like, oh that actually makes a lot more sense as to why quail is different than some of the other like Bombers paradises because eight from the back tee is not drivable for everybody. It's 346 Yeah, that's not as the crow flies, but like Bryce Bryce posted on his Instagram, he drove it in the front bunker in the practice room. Favorite type of short par four. Well, yeah. Yeah. But I still think he's gonna gain a shitload in because it is like, literally, I don't think I came across a hole today. I'm like, guys might try to hit three with
Starting point is 00:45:03 here. Like it's just every single hole is going to be hit the driver. And again, the stats were going through huge penalty for missing huge. Like it's, he doesn't miss a lot of grass. Yeah. He doesn't miss. Yeah. Uh, TC. Who's going to win Rory. God, I hope so. I'm going with the, uh, the guy whose name is on the door. Rory McIlroy country club. This is very much divided. This is very much. I picked Bryson the one and done,
Starting point is 00:45:28 but I actually do feel like Rory is, maybe just because I'm seeing more of him, but I mean, gotta go with history here. It just feels like a really comfy spot. Well, and it's, the conditions remind me of when Rory used to win majors. Sloppy way. Congressional or. He had some good quotes about that too. I don't know if you read that, but he was talking about that exact thing I mean, I'm hitting it high and landing them, you know, soft. He's like, now he's like, I kind of think pinehurst like obviously fit me as well. And he's like, it's
Starting point is 00:46:08 what we say in the podcast all the time. But I don't think he lost that skill. Either. I think the, uh, yeah, it sounded like they, they all kind of tied one on last night at the, at the champions dinner. I think Mr. Harris opened up the, uh, the seller. I also saw some Rory quotes about how he was enjoying Del Frisco's steakhouse back in 2010, the first time he played here. It was like 21. I thought that was a pretty interesting quote
Starting point is 00:46:35 about just local establishments and such. But no, I think Rory, just like, I think they're gonna have to do Live Clean in Place tomorrow. You're pro Live Clean in Place for tomorrow. No, I like you love what clean I would say don't do it But I think I have to think they're gonna like they're gonna be bullied into it by the by the players Okay I'm gonna if you've gone this far into pleasing the players like I don't think they're gonna stop it with clean in place
Starting point is 00:47:00 I honestly I think it mud ball making a mud ball day tomorrow would make it less entertaining God that's music man. It would not be fun That was an interesting take I saw the everything I got from TC speed needs to go on steroids Oh, I'll struggle back to that later. All right interesting couch divide here. All right, I think we're all fishing in the same pond though Yeah, which is like everybody forgot about fire because their styles are none of us pick Scotty, which is not to win. Scotty right now is a first really first time seeing the place. There it is. First pick not to win. Scotty's plus 400 to giraffe play by Rory's plus 450 Bryson's plus 700. And then there's a golf between them.
Starting point is 00:47:41 Rom is plus 1800 Xander plus 2200 and JT plus 2000 right now. So who's your pick not to win? Not to win? Um, I'll go Rom. I'm with I'm on Rom as well. It's kind of like a safe bailout. Like the opposite of a giraffe there. Plus 1800 doesn't have to be a giraffe. It's like I was going to say Rom too, but now I'm I'll say more Kawa. I actually both I'll do both of them if you think that's not drafting enough. I'll go wrong. Yeah And Neiman I'll throw him I'll do a Randy. I'll just start throwing names in No, Vax not gonna win Bocce Russell Henley's not
Starting point is 00:48:25 I'll say also I don't think Xander's gonna win. I don't think we're quite ready. I don't think he's. I'm not quite ready for you. He's been mega trending and has played so fucking good at this place. Yeah, but I think he's just not quite all the way back. I think Xander's a block for top.
Starting point is 00:48:36 I almost told me that as a dip. I just think he needs a little bit more time. I think, we've kind of said this at, you know, Pinehurst and now Augusta, but it's like, we've been so dying since like Tiger and Phil really for just like, man, what's the like head to head in golf? Maybe it'll be Scotty and Rory. Maybe it'll be Jordan and JT. I mean, it's Bryson and Rory and it might be again this week, which is awesome. I tell you who I think is going to play really well this week. Keegan. I hope so. I think Keegan and Cantlay both play really well this week. Keegan. I hope so. I think Keegan and Cantlay both played really
Starting point is 00:49:05 well this week. Cantlay feels like it. Is there a course that like has more of a horse for course like reputation? Like this might be like the. Yeah. I have to go back to my guy Ron. He does the predictive stuff. He has a whole documentation of what the most predictive courses are. I can probably get you an answer there if you guys want to beat around the horse a little bit. It kind of sounds like we need to just have Ron on the line. What's your fan duel play of the week, Dej? Good question. A lot of directions I could go. I kind of liked I liked my plays.
Starting point is 00:49:39 You know what? TC is going to piss you the hell off. I know that. But I'm going to take a Rasmus. That doesn't hold me. Rasmus Hoygard is the top Scandinavian, which that's a good interest Scandinavian is Nordic. I believe is how it's listed, but he's plus 800 to basically beat Ludwig. I think in that he's just five Danes in the field right now. Mad Danes. I'm hearing Rasmus near guard Peterson. Can you confirm we're going to get this bed on the line? You get Rasmus. I get Rasmus Hoygard. You get all other Rasmus, Neergaard, Peterson. Can you confirm we're going to get this bet on the line? We're going to do the bet. You get Rasmus.
Starting point is 00:50:07 I get Rasmus Hoyegaard. You get all other Rasmuses. All current and future Rasmuses. For the next 20 years, whoever wins the most majors. Okay. Wow. He gets all of them though. That's the big guns are the field.
Starting point is 00:50:20 You want to get in on that? No, I'll set one out. But I do have a Rasmus play that I'll piggyback off you. It's kind of calling it the unstable compound play. Min Wu Lee and Rasmus Hoegard top 20 parlay. The odds have gone down. When I put this in yesterday, it was plus 21.80, which is like you move in markets, both of those plus 1500 odds, of course, are subject to change, but top 20, I may have been top 20 or top 20 with ties might be the difference there. So we'll take the top 20 with ties, like plus 1400 ish.
Starting point is 00:50:53 I feel like both those guys, yeah. Then who, if he like he's on your list of guys that hit it 180 ball speed, hit it really high. You're almost betting on form. Gosh. And Rasmus, you know, you're taking him as form. He played well at Augusta. I think that's a fun one. That'd be a massive indictment of Quail Hollow if Minwu Lee goes nuts. Well, that's how I've a noted noted Minwu. I had Minwu Lee in big tone. Not a lot of thought. Like he can just
Starting point is 00:51:20 wail on it. It's more punishing though than like Houston. Like it's, it's, it's harder than Houston. Like he, he got away with murder Keep Houston's name out of your mouth. He got away with murder out there TC. That was a tough tough watch. If you want to have some fun. You can chase these plays and many more on the uh NLU specials tab. And this is coming from the group you know yours truly who got that round one closest to the pin. It's always late with JT in his group. Well, you and I were both on Keith Mitchell, first round leader. I'm ready. It's he's plus 7,500 for first round leader. No, it's not. It's not a plus. Dude, you guys move the line. We're just talking about the line.
Starting point is 00:51:53 Mitchell. Yeah. Yes. He's he's a number four on the handle and the percentage of bets for first round leader. Let's we let's just do it. Let's do it. He looks so, so clean today. He had a pop collar, white polo, with these like white cap. It's a PGA Tour stop. Like it's a PGA Tour,
Starting point is 00:52:10 he's got the best scoring average of opening rounds. Don't have to worry about Sunday. He's averaging 67 in opening rounds on the PGA Tour, better than Tiger did in the year 2000. Like give me Keith Mitchell, first round leader plus 6,000 all day. He's kind of, he's very high, I think,
Starting point is 00:52:23 if memory serves. He's very high on that stroke, came off the tee. Oh yeah, he's very high on that, uh, strokes gained off the T. Yeah. Oh yeah. That's his whole game. Fifth and strokes came off the T on the PJ tour right now for a place that was like driving, driving, driving, great. To marry your take to see not great restaurants around here for the game. No distractions. Exactly. Exactly. That's just a fun, a total flyer here. Uh,
Starting point is 00:52:42 because another guy that I feel has played really well in early rounds this year, bogey free first round from Colin Morikawa. Plus 1300 with our guy, Joe Griner. That's what I'm saying. I thought, I thought it was in place. I just feel like that's got legs. I'm not saying he's going to be the lowest, but I could see him just steering his rig around here and not getting in too much trouble our four-man parlay was Cory Connors Mav McNeely Colin Warikawa Tommy Fleetwood Tommy in there all for top 20 no You want to show a statement on Tommy this week? Yeah, I don't think he's gonna win. We're not doing it You absolved yours, but you we all celebrated on the preview because right? Oh, this is the no no we also said like
Starting point is 00:53:23 We all celebrated on the preview because we're like, oh, this is the week. No, no, we also said like, it's not going to be on our team. We call this morning. We said like, yeah, guys, I just don't want to do the Tommy thing. Like, well, it might not be a Tommy thing. If Tommy wins this major when it's soaked, it's on a PGA Tour. This is like everybody's going to it's like the Jimmy Walker Baltis roll thing. And everybody's going to say, no, like that doesn't count as a major. What would that mean? It's gonna derail your entire thesis if
Starting point is 00:53:46 he wins. I don't think you've even grasped how would you have the online if that was to happen. Calling this a signature event. Exactly. But we still gotta get a PGP. You gotta be pumped out. Imagine TC having to jump an American flight to come back up here on Sunday. It's an easy one. It's only like an hour and 10 minutes. What else you got? I got HG and Xander. I got HG top 20 Xander top 10. I got team Rose top English J day top Oceania plus 2700. Nationality plays are fire. They set up a make miscut thing for blocky, which I loved.
Starting point is 00:54:23 Which is what the I'm telling you, people. I think Garrett Higgo might wreck your rig on that one. I think great golf got great flow. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player.
Starting point is 00:54:37 I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going to be a great player. I think he's going parlaying the pools. Yeah, exactly. So I didn't think about it. I'm telling you, people. Garrett Higgo might wreck your rig on that one. I think great golf got great flow. That's true.
Starting point is 00:54:50 Ball speed. Yeah, ball speed. The ass. Was he on the list? No, he wasn't. He was not. He hits it hard. He was not.
Starting point is 00:54:56 Might not hit high, though. The Champions' Dinner was, of course, last night. No Brooks Kepka. Just not showing up. Those plays are on the NLU tab on the. Neil, I really liked your Keith Mitchell I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:55:08 I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:55:16 I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:55:24 I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm to go the champions dinner in town. Like just a disgrace. Yeah. You know, he just it's like, I don't know, it's always something with team smash. Like, yeah, I just don't. Yeah, I don't know. Well, nobody asked me, you know, nobody asked me to play. So I just, yeah, I played alone. Yeah. Fucking problem with that. But I don't I don't practice. It wasn't even practice. I was just out there fucking the course. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:44 Oh, I don't get that. I don't practice. It wouldn't even practice. I was just out there fucking the course. Yeah. Uh, I don't get that. I don't, I don't know. We had Rory is officially committed to the Australian open for the next two years. Royal Melbourne must credit TC this year and Kingston Heath next year. God, I love that. Big development there. Um, exciting news. I'll be coming at the, the, it was, sorry, that's late December, January, December, second week in December. Okay. Also awesome. Come at the, the, it w sorry. That's late December, January, December, second week in December. Okay. Also awesome come at the expense of like Dubai or anything. Also quotes about it. It was like, yeah, I've seen the names on that trophy.
Starting point is 00:56:11 And like that, that, you know, that's the kind of history I want to be part of. Yeah. Wanted back in 13, 13. Damn, even better that he's going back. Yeah. Um, in other news, Damon Lynch had a call this week as well about President Donald Trump went to Saudi Arabia. Tiger Woods, this is from the article, is Tiger Woods, a director on the TOR's policy board, was dispatched to the White House late last week to ensure the president would be on message in Riyadh, the message being that any deal between the tour and the
Starting point is 00:56:45 Kingdom's public investment fund will be on the tours, preferred terms, those terms will not include a long-term future for Liv. Can you imagine, Ty, you're trying to keep someone on message, Mr. President, I just think it's really important. That's what we can't, we can't. I mentioned it, I already mentioned it. We already talked about it. As you know, in the report that the strategic sports group sent around, these are the numbers we're comfortable with. Just to tie up a loose end here, Michael Block to make the cut plus 320. Plus 320 to make the cut. Would not worth rooting for that.
Starting point is 00:57:19 Would not advise. God, the Saudi stuff is, I mean, talk about something going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm sorry. This thing is costing me $5 billion. You want me to give it up? So hold on. What is it? It's a team thing. Yeah. It's an interesting angle. It's like it'd be like hard to follow, but it's a shotgun start, but they're coming in at the end. Seems like it'd be weird.
Starting point is 00:57:53 I thought about trying golf out. It just takes too long. How many people are watching on the app? Well, they could wear shorts, but now they can't wear shorts anymore. That's how they feel about range fighters. We also had some one and done picks from the guys that are not here. Uh, KVV is also on the Bryson train, uh, with us. He's sticking his neck out. That's why they call him the giraffe. Uh, and rainy's on Ludwig this week. Um, so even if Ludwig wins, Hey, the one and done, the ground's getting a little, a little shallow. Yeah. God, I would have loved to take JT Aurora. Can't do it. Uh, Randy had, had a Shane Lowry last week.
Starting point is 00:58:25 That could have been a close hit, but I have to do it after, after this week, I might do a little analysis on the one and done. See where it's pretty easy to analyze. I don't know if anybody's hit yet. I need Scotty. Nobody's hit. I thought somebody it's hard. It's very hard to hit a one.
Starting point is 00:58:40 You know what? I hit Rory at Augusta. Also, none of us picked it. It's just really tough except it's just really tough this week no I'm talking about the side the winners draft we did not the one and done oh wow that's a whole confused the audience and then we've and then we've got the other the ten-year thing that we're doing yeah that's not going great for any of you guys.
Starting point is 00:59:05 Who's Bryson? Anybody? Oh, you do. Bryson, who did that take? Brooks and Rom? Because I took Bex back. I don't even know who's on my squad. Hey, bomber wise, we haven't talked at all about Victor.
Starting point is 00:59:15 It's got Matt Wolfe. Is Victor kind of a sleeper here? Well, TC, that would have been great to talk about in the part of the show that was between four and five. We are at five o'clock and this is the end of our happy hour. We want to thank platform sports for having us out here. And if you are in the Charlotte area, you can join us again here tomorrow around 7pm conclusion to play the first round. This whole patio hopefully will be filled through. Yeah, there's gonna be a lot of charlatans. We got a lot
Starting point is 00:59:39 a lot of fun. We got some souvenirs for people. We're gonna be taking some questions. We're gonna have a great time recapping day one of the first major of the year, second major of the year. TC emptied the merch tent today. He's got so many hats to pass out to people. The really, really good hats. Wearing his favorite right now. Yeah. And I got a lot of Charlotte takes to get out. I think all I'll say is that I think it's interesting that people, it's all anybody wants to talk about right now is
Starting point is 01:00:07 It's a major week like we talked about this on our on our non golf podcast last week It's crazy the real ones know the trap draws in a golf but that's been my favorite just suspending for a second There's so many people in the comments, but no to like the LinkedIn guy or no's good stuff. Roe back. A lot of Easter eggs. They're really, really good. Just a bunch of multi print deep cut logos that we, that we came up with. We honestly, we rocked them. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:33 Some stuff, honestly, great job on that one. This one we get a great job on. If you have one of those things, eat it. I'm going to go with the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, logos that we came up with. We rocked them. Yeah. Some stuff honestly, Roback rocked them. We did a great job on that one. This one we did a great job on. If you have one of those things, email Neil, he'll get you a refund.
Starting point is 01:00:51 Get what? One of those things. Not many, but a couple. I would have thought that. No, more so like, I wouldn't wear that. I'm going to wear this one. Store.nolega. It's so clean. It's so crisp. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:04 All right. Well, thank you to everyone at Platform Sports. Thank you to Fandl. Thank you to Roback. And we'll see everyone here in person tomorrow night.
