Be the right club. Be the right club today.
Yes!
Johnny, that's better than most.
How about him? That is better than most.
Better than most! the first.
Expect anything different. and we're going to get to

High noon, sun's up.
Thank you everybody for being here.
Dej, take us away.
What do you got, Dej?
Let me read a couple names.
Jonathan Vegas, Ryan Gerard, Kim Davis,
Ryan Fox, Alex Smollett.
I hope none of those people are here tonight
because we're gonna have some honest conversation
about today's golf, I think.
As we always do, we're gonna start
with the story of the day.
Neil, I'm gonna throw it to you first.
What do you got?
Story of the day.
It's gotta be the leaderboard.
And candidly, no offense to anyone,
it stinks right now.
Now that doesn't mean it's gonna stink on Sunday. Doesn't mean it's gonna stink tomorrow. Long way to go. All right, and no offense to anyone, it stinks right now. Now that doesn't mean it's gonna stink on Sunday.
Doesn't mean it's gonna stink tomorrow.
Long way to go.
All right, and no offense to anyone.
I know we have some Jonathan Vegas fans in the room.
Speak up if you're there.
All right, see, good point.
But there's feel good stories on the leaderboard.
You got two Ryger Cup captains in the hunt.
Luke Donald on a special exemption.
Four under, made some noise this morning.
And you have Keegan Bradley,
your boy, three under. But there's no top 10 players in the world in the top 10. I don't
think there's any top 20 players in the world in the top 10. Don't check me on that.
Except for Ryan Gerard, he's one of the hottest players in the world right now.
Currently ranked 81st in the world. Cam Davis is 68. So as you go down to leaderboard,
there's some guys that are
doing things. Brian Harmon, of course, doing some things, but I don't, you know, not a lot of juice
and not a lot of action in the afternoon wave today. That was what was most disappointing for
me. But I don't know. Story of the day for you, Dej. Well, I'll pick up right there and maybe say,
it's not over, right? Our friends at the Alias Sports Bureau sent this one out.
I thought this was pretty good.
Just to kind of show how much of a crap shoot the PGA has been
over the last eight years, it's basically been half and half.
There's been front runners after day one,
and there's been guys completely off the board after day one.
So just starting last year, the eventual champions position
after day one.
Ready for this?
First, that was Xander, went wire to wire. starting last year, the eventual champions position after day one. Ready for this first?
That was Zander went wire to wire T 38, T 48, T 33.
First, those Brooks T 33, T 44.
So I don't know if we want to do how far back you are.
But you're taking us.
But I think we've still got a long, long, long ways to go.
And I still feel very good about my Bryson pick.
And a lot of that is because of my story of the day.
I think is Rory's stinking, right?
I mean, that was just not,
I don't know if we're gripping the steering wheel
a little too tight.
I don't know what those lefts were all about.
What did you see from Rory today?
I hated all the talk coming in.
I hated the, I feel freed up.
I feel like, you know,
this feels exactly like the Wells Fargo.
We, it felt like another different Rory approach
to a first round major. And what did I say on the preview? I
said, don't go shoot the 74 and play yourself out of it. And
what did he shoot today? 74. I hated to see it. It was really
unfortunate because obviously 79. It should have been a lot
more. He got he was fortunate to only finish three over. But if
you look at this leaderboard, it's out there. Like, all they
had to do was shoot even par today and he would have been probably third favorite on the board.
So I'm kind of with you.
That was a major storyline.
If I had another vote, Scotty with the quietest,
69 you could possibly have, did not look great,
got it in like he tends to do
and not a lot of names in front of him to run down.
Like he's the favorite easily right now
and he should be for good reason.
Got it in, kind of like Solly tends to do. I think the story of the day for me is the mud balls.
The mud balls were I mean it might be what happens to TC once this crowd gets on the leash here but
we'll be taking questions later so stick around. The mudballs were prevalent. I thought the PGA of America was absolutely going to do lip clean in place, and they surprised
us and did not. And then it seemed like Scottie and some of the guys were trying to hit their
regular go at it full board, 95, 100% shots. And you just can't do that with a mudball, right? You
got to chop at it a little
bit. And Scottie has a little temper tantrum afterwards, which was, it was well said. I think
he flipped you a little bit. I thought it was pretty measured commentary.
Yeah. Can we get into that for those that didn't catch the entire interview? It's going to be
snipped and clipped in a lot of places, but he was asked about the mud balls multiple times. And so
he said, by the way, this is going to be the last answer that I give on playing it up or down.
I mean, I don't make the rules.
I think when you're looking at the purest forms of golf,
like if you're gonna go play links golf,
there's absolutely no reason on a links course
you should play the ball up.
It doesn't matter how much rain they get,
the course can be flooded underwater
and the ball is still gonna bounce somehow
because the way the turf and the ground
is underneath the turf.
In American golf, it's significantly different when you have overseeded
fairways that are not sand cap, there's going to be a lot of mud on the ball.
And that's just part of it.
When you think about the purist test of golf, I don't personally think that
hitting the ball in the middle of the fairway should get punished for.
On a golf course as good as condition as this one, this is probably a situation
in which it would be the least likely difference in playing it up because most
of the lies you get out here are really good.
So I understand how a golf purist would say,
oh, play it as it lies.
That felt a little bit like he was mocking us
a little bit there, but I don't think they understand
what it's like to literally work your entire life
to learn how to hit a golf ball and control it
and hit shots and control distance,
and all of a sudden, due to a rules decision
that is completely taken away from us by chance.
In golf, there's enough luck throughout
a 72-hole tournament that I don't think
the story should be whether or not the ball is played up or down.
When I look at golf tournaments, I want the purest, fairest test of golf.
And in my opinion, maybe the ball today should have been played up.
Like I said, I don't make the rules.
I deal with what the rules decisions are.
I could have let it bother me today when you got a mud ball
and it cost me a couple of shots.
It cost me possibly two shots on one hole.
And if I let that bother me, it could cost me five shots the rest of the round.
But today I was proud of how I stayed in there, didn't let it get to me and was able to play
some solid golf on a day which I was a bit all over the place and still able to post
a score.
That's a mic drop.
Yeah, that's really well said.
I think first of all, you had to hit a really, really, really bad shot to get it in the water
today. I mean, it was bumper
bowling out there with some of the rough. And then B, I don't disagree with them. This
is an extremely well-manicured kind of artificial golf course. And so the conditions, like good
conditions are part of the test. So I was shocked that the PGA of America didn't play
it and there's no way they play it up tomorrow.
Which is so weird to me because it feels like the one place
where they're digging in their heels.
I'm like, no, no, no, we're major.
We're major.
We're not gonna change anything else.
We're not gonna change the mowing lines.
We're not gonna change the firmness of the greens.
Everything else is gonna pretty much coil hollow.
But this, we're not conceding on this.
I'm like, yeah, but now we're kind of affecting play.
Xander and Scottie, those two shots in the 16.
Like those are not Xander and Scotty shots. So I don't know as a chaos agent.
Normally, I'm like just fucking play it man. Play it down.
Come on. That's what we would do.
And I'm like, you kind of made a pretty good case.
But then you get Ryan Gerard, Kim Davis, Luke Donner, Ryan Foster.
Like, all right, maybe something's up with a lot of those guys.
If you read the transcripts of the guys who played well, this is kind of obvious.
They're like, oh yeah, I didn't have any mud balls.
Right. It's like, oh, well, well, can I say I walked the Scottie Xander Rory group
for Cody and I were out there, we watched five or six holes.
And I just want to give Scottie a shout out because he did like manufacture a run today.
Yeah. And the other it was it was pretty low energy pairing, which in a lot of hype
around that pairing, you know, it's kind of the clash of titans. And Scotty was the one that he kept, he's kind of had his head down, walking
between holes and not a lot of head shaking. The other two, he had some aw shucks going on,
some hang dog. And so a ton of credit to him for finding a two under round, like he said,
and he said it himself. And so when, especially when a guy comes out and says something really
thoughtful like that. It was a really good answer.
You know, another member of his group, Rory just decided not to do media today.
It's like, I appreciate him coming out and having some words.
I appreciate you mentioning that.
Yeah, I didn't, I don't, you know, I think he should have sat down with the media.
That was take of you.
It just seemed like super aware that like, if I just say one thing about mud balls,
I'm going to come off super bitchy. But here's, here's my
beginning. So last time I'm talking about this,
we'd ask it, uh, where else we want to go next? Uh, I mean,
we got to start with, with Ryan Gerard. I mean, he, he is, uh,
well, he was the leader actually until Jonathan Vegas, uh,
posted seven under, I think while we were, uh, waiting in the green room.
First, just coming across our desk here, Jonathan Vegas. TC you mentioned it. Former 3M open winner. You know I tell
you that's a good course fit out here this week. It's pretty analogous. Yeah exactly.
Jonathan Vegas seven under Ryan Gerrard and Cam Davis at five under and then you mentioned
Luke Donald at four under. Bogey Free at 67. One of the first guys out. I don't know. Went
out and posted a number. I don't know what we want guys out. I don't know what we want to make.
I don't know what we want to make of that. If we make anything of that,
anybody. Sometimes golf's pretty cool. I'm really hard not to overreact to this
first round leaderboard and just do the we're going to be patient, right? I'd
still think we're going to get something pretty exciting come Sunday. Well, it's
going to flesh out. I'll say Ryan Gerard, UNC guy, right? Yeah, right.
Hello. I was going to ask the audience just make sure. But it's like any state right? Yeah, right.
I was going to ask the audience, just make sure, but it's like,
any state pride for Ryan Gerard or can we go talk? All right. So we got some party overwhelming, overwhelming support here at platform sports.
I feel like a first, some people are hearing of this. How do you,
can you spell it please? Uh, a little,
a little stat here for you guys as well. Again,
this was from our friends
at Alaya Sports Bureau. He's the, well, he would have been the fourth to lead or co-lead
in their PGA debut. You know the other names on that list? Really hard. Graham Storm in
2017 finished T62 on Lucky. How did I miss that? Rod Pampling in 2003 finished T14 and
of course, 1999 Sergio Garcia
in his PGA debut. That went pretty well. Sergio looked great today. Sergio looked awful today.
What will you say about that? It's always riding for the fireballs.
Great. The yellow pants are great. Whoever had the tweet today said he looked like Jafar from
Aladdin. That got me really, really good. That was, tweet today said he looked like Jafar from Aladdin.
That got me really, really good.
That was that was looked a little clown show.
I think the master's fit is legitimately a good look today.
Not as much. I'm not going to ride for that one.
Don't don't try to lump me in that bucket.
I see what you're doing.
It's tough. It's tough.
Plus we had Phil showing up at 7 p.m. local time tomorrow and unsurprisingly shooting 79.
I call back to Phil Warner several years ago, wait until you see chess moves 32 through
37.
I don't know where we are on the board, but this had to be one of them.
Got it in under 80.
You got to think he's pleased with how that went down.
But apparently he got in early, did some practice last week at Quail and was practicing elsewhere
this week, but did show up at 7pm.m. last night to chip around to go
and shoot 79. I mean I feel like we're kind of bearing our main segment here which is great
great stuff from Aaron Rye DJ your guy. Neil's been trying to do this thing where he thinks he
can like sell everybody that I'm a huge Aaron Rye guy. Oh that sounds so unlike you guys. Oh my god.
When I make stuff up about you people like would believe it you know it's like
what we had a couple of things about Aaron Ryman.
And I'm like, I don't like the way the guy believe I'm a huge Aaron Ry guy.
I don't know any Aaron Ry fans in the house.
Well, we got a couple of them.
Eleven, the TI eighty three.
It actually stemmed from just DJ getting super upset at seeing Aaron Ry on this.
I got out of character reaction when Aaron Ry came up on the screen one one time and I don't even remember when it was and then that's
how these bits work. Now he's your boy.
Look at this guy. I didn't mean to offend you. I'm sorry.
No, you're right. I'm sorry. I got hot under the collar there. Norrin, he was in your ass
today. Anything to say about that? There's like old times out there, man.
I feel like this bitch should have died when he came up to me at Visby and we talked about
the OWGR conversation he said
Solly you were right and I thought that would end the bit but three years later we are still doing
this I'm a huge Alex Norton fan he's been out six months uh which I first just just now hearing
about this with Lamstring uh but had an excellent round ago I saw him on the practice round first
thing I said to him was like go out and win this week and then you can go vacation all you want in
VSB this summer and he seemed it was motivating words, it works.
Very cool.
You got a lot of guys kind of,
you're in a precarious spot right now
with Piggins shot 68 today,
Boxxy, fresh off his win in Myrtle Beach.
Boxxy fans, come on, let's go.
I think TC is gonna paint his masterpiece this week.
Like he is gonna thread thread a needle in it.
If we don't get the result, we won this tournament. He's going to throw it out.
Jimmy Walker, 2016 PJ, like it never even happened.
But if he gets the result he wants, he's going to, he's going to thread the needle.
I'm, I'm already impressed with what you've got going.
Big shot, Bob's on the board.
Uh, he's three under we've got, you know, Fleetwood very easy 70 today.
You swore off Fleetwood this week.
I did. No Rack 70. Rafa Campos, potential Ryder Cup pick.
He's Puerto Rican, right?
He's Puerto Rican. Can he play on the US?
That's interesting.
We need to be considering all options right now. Everything is on the table.
Maybe one of the worst three spots I've ever seen.
A lot of stuff from the US guys right now. We should be, you know, like a high school coach,
like everybody, no one's spot is safe. It's going back to the drawing board.
It's like when the college football coach says, hey, we're doing an open trial for Kicker.
Yeah. All right. And everybody, everybody is welcome on campus.
Thank you for coming out, man. Thank you for giving it a shot. That was cool to watch.
We got four long months to go. Everybody have some patience with the U.S.
Ryder. We can't do every good shot.
Everybody hits.
Are they now in Ryder?
I know we're going to do it, but I'm just
going to preach the patience.
OK, long way.
Might be here tonight.
We'll see.
We could have someone here tonight.
I do want to go down the leaderboard.
I feel like we're just kind of really,
really chomping at the bit to go down
the leaderboard before we do.
Adam Scott shot 269.
This is another good stat I saw today.
Adam, there's three Adam Scott fans over there yeah it's coming
from the ladies section over there I think actually this was a good good
stat Adam Scott playing his 95th consecutive major dating back to the
2001 Open Championships 95 consecutive majors has not missed a major since 2001
one player had to qualify for the US Open last year one player has played more 95 consecutive majors has not missed a major since 2001.
One player.
And to qualify for the US Open.
Yes, one player has played more consecutive majors.
Can anybody name who that is?
Jack Nichols.
I was talking to the audience.
But yes, Jack Nichols.
Thank you, Soli.
Very cool.
Jack Nichols played 146 straight majors without missing.
How about that?
DJ, you know what they say you know the the
most important ability is availability uh who wants to go down the leaderboard
i thought you'd never ask there was a split second there was pretty quiet
this is a tough leaderboard to go down because there's not a lot of differentiation.
There's a lot of guys at minus two, minus three.
First of all, I want to shout out Alex Smalley.
We had Mother's Day on Sunday.
And Alex Smalley, first person you saw
when you were out here this week.
And his mom just six inches behind him
walking off in the range.
Like it was truly, truly shocking.
I wasn't making it up.
He played well, 67. Steven Yeager, the speed merchant.
I feel like that's kind of an indictment of what was going on out there today.
What's the difference between a speed merchant and a ball speed imposter?
I don't know. I don't know. We'll figure that out.
Like speaking of which, I think I was a little disappointed.
Taylor Pendres not on the first page of this leaderboard.
He did hole out today though, from a lot of hole outs today.
150. So many hole outs this afternoon country music sensation eric cole
yeah that one play hit love that the balloon is back baby i know you're tailing that can i can i
blow your mind for a second steven yeager 110th today strokes gained off the tee wow could be
someone like okay that could be sustainability model in the right direction uh neil i think that
you should get a bonus for the hole in one play that it happened in the first round. I think it should be like a sliding scale. You get plus 700
if it's first round, plus 500 if it's second round and so forth. JT Poston, I know there's
some JT Poston fans in the house here tonight. I feel like he's kind of... Half-hearted.
He's like missing the door. We Harry. I suppose, you know, pound
for pound, but best player in the world. 68 today on a wet golf course. Uh, Rio hits that
Sunni. I know you're a big Rio hits Sunni fan. He's a 68 Nico, Echavaria, Matt Fitzpatrick
and Aaron Rye. I feel like the English should have to choose like only one of those two
can, can enter any given week.
Did we? I don't know if we said this. Nico Etchabria, massive Trap Draw fan, huge, massive.
Ran into him. He's like, Oh my God. He's like, is TC here? He's like, I listen to every episode
of the Trap Draw. I love it. We got one of the Hoy guards up there, Rasmus Hoyguard.
You scared? No, I have Rasmus. So what's these two have a side bet?
What is it?
I have Rasmus for the next 20 years.
TC has every other Rasmus.
Yeah.
Most majors.
Could be named later.
Present or future.
Okay.
Who's going to win more majors?
I think Rasmus.
We get one this week.
That's a pretty big lead.
I mean, there's two Rasmai in the field.
Rasmus Neergaard-Peterson.
He's T98 right now.
He shot 74 today. So,
Lodane is something we're monitoring this week. Teal Hatton had a nice little outburst on,
what was that 16 or 17? 17. They cut the mics. We got the F-bomb, but we don't know what he was
cursing. It's almost worse. Or the bounce or whatever, but they seven second dropped him,
but the F-bomb got in, but we didn't get what followed it, unfortunately.
We've got the aforementioned Scotty Schauffler shot 69.
Michael Thorbjornsson, who still, I was talking to Dodo Molinares, I said, hey, is there any
chance that this guy could still declare that he wants to play the Ryder Cup for Norway
or for the European team?
Waiting to hear back on that.
I can give you an answer on that.
Once you have declared your nationality, if you switch, it takes somewhere of like
two to four years before you can do that.
So not Garret Kigo continues his good play.
Justin Lauer, NLU young hitter T20.
Sure.
Hovland, ripping his face off today.
No, no, no.
Overseated Ry.
That's I give you some reasons maybe why.
But yeah, that should be Aaron Ry's nickname. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, then it was like, Oh no, I just, why don't you just drop, right? Where am I? That's fine. Like I said, we're only, we're not even through the minus twos yet.
And we're eight minutes into this. What, you know, uh, Fleetwood, like we said, finished minus one
with John Rom as well. Kind of both of those gave some back big couple days coming up for him. I
think, uh, Andrew Novak minus one, Okshay minus one.
Come on Sully!
Mark Power minus one, Ludwig and guys.
Nobody's even jumping on this bit with you.
You got a lot of applause for Andrew Novak!
Yeah!
Huge Novak bit. Go Terrors!
And then we've got Blandy.
Blandy also minus one.
Minus one?
Yeah, not a course fit for him.
Be Rory's ass.
Yeah. So that's really, that's all I got.
Tom Kim at 71, we can kind of stop there.
Well, I think we should pat ourselves a little bit on the back.
We've made it through the entire opening segment
without any complaining about Quail Hollow.
Right?
Complained a lot yesterday.
A lot.
To be fair.
I'm going to put my...
We'll get there next. I want to give
us first a shout out to our friends at Oars and Alps. Best sunscreen in the game. You don't walk
away smelling like a pina colada. It's lightweight. It's never greasy or sticky. Doesn't leave a white
residue, especially if it's got facial hair. You don't want to have that white stuff in your beard.
It's simple. It's fast. Easy to use. They got travel-friendly options. They got sprays, mists, sticks so you don't get the sunscreen on your
hands when you're playing golf. Men are not wearing enough sunscreens,
degrading your health. Only one in seven wear sunscreen on a daily basis.
Skin cancer rates are rising among men the past decade. Again, they got so many
great options. You can go to oarsandalps.com and take the skin quiz,
and you can build your own kit. And can also buy Orson Alps directly on Amazon. It'll show up right at your doorstep. You can get SPF
30, 50, 70 and the travel size SPF 50 I especially recommend. OrsonAlps.com
check them out and also check them out on Amazon. Good stuff. It is. Shout out to
them. Wow. What is? Oh yeah we got a little. That's a bug, not a feature. Exactly. We talked about
Quail Hollow. Let's just give me a second here. Let's establish the parameters. Let's establish
the rules here. We talked a lot about it in kind of conceptual terms yesterday, what we thought it
was going to be like.
We watched it today.
It actually got the, we're gonna keep some barriers
around this.
I just, I wanna hear one thing about Coil Hollow
from everybody.
We don't need to keep rehashing a bunch of the same stuff.
So, what'd you see out there today from the golf course?
I saw a couple of our frustrations come to life
very quickly, which is,
Coil Hollow has some really nice features.
Specifically, the water features present a great challenge for
professional golfers for risk reward shots.
And maybe three, at least three, maybe four instances we see thick or
somewhat thick rough near these hazards stopping balls.
Like with one of the first shots today, Brooks Koepke landed a driver on the
14th green, it bounced overhead high and stopped in the rough long.
Like the whole point of putting the green down there by the water is that
should be part of the risk of that shot.
Saw that on repeat and saw so many shots just stopping really close to the green
and really easy spots to chip from.
All the chip-ins are kind of like, yeah, the chips are extremely
straightforward from around some of these greens.
So kind of what we are, what you thought you were.
A lot of examples of that today happened on 18 with Rory,
his ball holding up on the creek.
A toe hook.
I mean, I almost landed dead center in the creek,
but no, it takes one bounce, gets caught up in the rough.
He saves par easily.
And that's where it's like, all right,
if you wanna marry up some of these critiques
with like the leaderboard, like that probably,
there's probably some overlap in the Venn diagram there
of like, that probably explains at least some of this. And I'd like to see that come to life. I like to cut some of that
rough down over the next couple days. It's you know it's been wet and I know the grass has grown
and see if we can get some balls kind of tumble into the water that's going to add a level of
excitement to this tournament. Left is 17 green and left is 16 you know like just give it a little
short grass into the water make it make it interesting. I'll Move to the positive although I totally agree with everything you just said and I would like to see it on 18
I really enjoyed watching 18. It feels like there's fun teeth coming down like to win a major
Getting through 16 17 18 is going to be they called the green mile. I'm hearing they call it the green mile
I don't know if you guys that's a local tip, but I really enjoyed watching 18. I love that Creek. I love seeing JT have to take the shoes off of big tone, trying
to figure it out. Like it's just, it's great. Like I do enjoy that whole. And so I'm glad
we have a major championship decided there. That's my one thing. What do you got?
Well, I mean, I'd say 15 through 18, 14 through 18. I really like with some, but you know,
change a few things. I would shout out seven Cody and I watched a lot of golf on seven today, par five, uh,
kind of, you know, back to the property.
I don't love the front nine as a whole, but that whole is a lot of fun.
If you're going out tomorrow and you're looking for a place to watch golf, you can kind of
get down there from behind two T and standing in seven fairway, kind of in the middle there,
watching those guys hit seven woods and five woods into a pretty tricky green, watch the
couple guys make a mess there. I mean, Jason Day made a mess. Uh,
God, Phil will get to that. He built made a mess. Uh, but it's a,
it's a really striking hole, good water feature,
but like a little bit more falling water for being critical.
But overall I think it's a good par five.
Tc does now have his quail hollow hat on.
You speak on quail.
Uh,
the number of people like in golf industry who have told me,
you don't get it. This club invests so much in the infrastructure of hosting a tournament.
And I'm just like, yo, I don't give a shit. That's not doing anything for me as a fan, especially watching on TV. And there were still a bunch of bottlenecks out there
behind 18 and behind trying to get across 10 fairway there. And I get it. They spend a lot of money
on the spectator experience and ingress and egress and all of that.
Now they just needed some spectators. That was the only thing they were missing there
this afternoon.
That combination of really firm greens, which is impressive how firm the greens still are after
all the rain,
and just wickedly soft surrounds. That's not a good combination.
Yeah, I think that kind of sums it up. That's it. We're not doing any more quail stuff tonight. There's a moratorium. No more. Who do we like? I mean, you know, we're only one round into this,
but picks to win change. You guys both picked Rory. We both picked Bryson yesterday
I still feel very strongly about that pick. It's like a bogey on Bryson to say again. Great finish
Despite that one bogey on 18. I still feel good
Me and Neil made it I was I don't know it's feeling spicy
I'm in a Bryson versus the field bet which is very stupid for me
But I'm gonna just push all my chips in here. You still think about Bryson?
I do. I mean, I think I'm gonna stick with the pick, but if I was to, I mean,
the Scotty looming without really having his best stuff with that leaderboard ahead of him
just kind of feels like, all right, this is a really, really, really good opportunity for Scotty.
Bryson, I didn't think looked that good today. I mean, I thought he was gonna like
assert his will on that golf course, and it didn't really happen. So I'll stick with it because we made the pre-tournament pick.
But if you, if you made me switch, you listen, I'm going to probably take the
number one player in the world with the board he's got in front of them.
You guys revising your pick, I'm assuming.
Yeah, I've revised my pick.
Uh, I think Roy is going to come back tomorrow though.
I don't think he's like going to miss the cut.
Right.
Uh, but it's, you know, shooting three over today is tough.
That's, that's, he was bad.
He was bad.
He was awful.
Now, it is Rory McIlroy Country Club, so he could come out.
He's done it before and go shoot 64 or 63.
I'm kind of weirdly watching a little bit of Hatton today.
Tyrell Hatton's scaring me down there.
I think he's at minus two, but he looked good.
He was at three, four, kind of sniffing around, getting into the lead.
I don't know. It feels like he's dangerous right now. So I'm going to use somebody
I'm monitoring.
I'm just receiving word he's actually at three.
Three under.
Even better.
All right. Now, Defqon2.
Dej, I've got, I'm looking at Keegan. I've got some sneaky feeling about Keegan. And
then I think Hovland. I really like what I'm seeing
out of Hovland. So I think that this course isn't going to bring out the best in Scotty.
Like you had a really good quote actually on Sally's friend, Grant Horvats YouTube channel
last week or a couple of weeks ago about how he plays well in courses that kind of inspire him.
I don't think this place inspires him. And I don't think the conditions are like suitable for
controlling your golf ball being
something that's going to separate you. The only pushback I'm going to make to that is what did
he just win by 56 at TBC Craig James? Also true. Maybe he's inspired by different stuff than I
feel like. Just go back to Roy for a second. I feel like I would stick with that pick a little
harder if I didn't see he fighting the driver like in and seen it in
person it just yeah you know it's like okay he has super power right now he has put the left miss in
play exactly it was like a repeat repeating the left miss was there a wave split at all between am
and pm good question i'm gonna get i'm gonna get my research out there in the pm and i feel like that
i feel like the am guys went out and kind of went and got it done, but it should even
out tomorrow.
Yeah.
It was a heavy morning load.
I mean, especially the top three players in the world.
That's where it's kind of like, there weren't a lot of guys to carry the back of the afternoon
and they didn't carry it, just made for a difficult watch on the background.
What are you guys saying?
Rory makes a cut? Yes force Roy Roy Roy finishes in the top ten I
Think so I would say that for sure anyone I want to say Roy wins
Tim in the front row. Thank you. Do you see the afternoon wave played in plus 1.9 to the morning plus 1.59
Okay, it's not much of a split
Cody I think you know one guy that that couldn't be here today of course was Big Randy wanted to
be here but had some stuff come up. No he's holding out he didn't like his contract. Yeah we could
hit Big Randy's number. Waiver negotiation with Randy. I think we have a statement from him though Cody is that right?
I think we have a statement from them though, Cody, is that right? Hey everybody, just watching Michael Bloch's shot here on the part 317.
Oh my gosh, he's hit it to about five feet.
Look at him hamm it up with the fans.
Folks, it's Randy here. What is going on with this leaderboard? look at him ham it up with the fans.
Folks, it's Randy here. What is going on with this leaderboard?
Is this a major championship?
Is this a alternate field event?
Not my favorite through round one late in the day.
We got some people lingering, loitering.
See who's ready to make a move over the next three days. We've
just been enjoying it. Arthur, where are you Arthur? There you are. You want to say hi
to everybody? Hey, Bubba. Yeah, just watching golf, hanging out. Beautiful weather here
in Denver. Great day to be in the basement basement hope the boys have a great live show hope everybody enjoys it and Charlotte I'm so sorry
charlatans that I can't be there I miss you guys I love you guys you're the fake
Queen City Randy out hard to hear in person of course but I assume he was
shitting on Charlotte he was probably talking about Coil Hollow he's probably
probably talking about all this he. He was probably talking about all the good stuff.
He's working hard though on a Thursday afternoon.
Love that for my partner.
You know what?
One guy that was working hard out there is my guy Neil,
who was tasked.
Go Neil, go gather some onsite observations
from today at Coil Hollow.
Go see what you can find.
Go get us three outs.
What'd you find?
So I saw Nicholson on seven and he hit some rich guy's backyard right at seven fairway
off the tee.
Probably knows him.
And I would be honest, like we air mailed that whole pond, that whole water feature
on the right, hit it over a chain link fence and saw it land and bounce in the yard.
It probably wasn't out of bounds though.
Basically, that's the best part. And I was thinking about it and then he hit his provisional
way left into the rough up by us. And he walked over and you could tell he was kind of like,
are we sure we saw it? It didn't go in the water. I was like, no. And everybody's like, no, no, no,
man. We, we, that's out of here, brother. And they were playing so freaking slow too.
Anyway, I just was thinking about it.
It's not often you get to see these pros
like leave the yard, you know, like on the fly,
like that ball's out of here.
I was like trying to think,
I can't remember the last time I saw a pro just,
and we see that all the time when we're playing together,
you know, I'm sure everybody else out here does.
And it was kind of a thrill.
It was like a cheap thrill.
I was like, whoa, that is so bad.
And so then Phil went on to have a really tasteful punch out from the rough.
And then he chipped on and three putted for triple.
Then the broadcast picked him up.
That was the broadcast picked him up on eight, but they were, uh,
what do we think a whole, a whole and a half, a whole and a half behind.
I mean, murmurs in the gallery, are these guys on the clock?
They weren't.
But bad stuff there from Tommy was in that group.
So that was that was observation one.
Two, random Matt Every.
He's working for ESPN.
He's doing feature groups for the Xander, Scotty and Rory group.
And talk about a pro, man.
He's got the headset on.
I haven't seen him in three or four years
since I moved away from Jaxx.
And he hits me with like, what's fucking up, man?
Like what's up?
And he goes, oh, hold on.
He looks and he's like, yeah, so Scotty's got
about 40 feet left or right here.
And he flips his mic off.
He's like, where you fucking been, man?
So he's just able to navigate like two streams at once,
which I really struggle with,
kind of multitasking like that,
and just managing the hot mic really, really well.
And so I wanted to give Matt Everett a shout out.
Good to see him back bouncing around and doing coverage.
You can find him on ESPN+.
And then third, I had a little fashion corner.
PC, I hate to say, we'll start with the bad.
PC, Tommy Fleetwood's shirt today was atrocious.
I got a lot of messages about that one.
Not good, I was disappointed in Victor today.
I thought it was way too vanilla, just black.
Major championship season, usually the folks over at Jay Lindbergh are trying to do some
avant-garde stuff, we didn't get that today.
I don't know if he likes that stuff though.
I know, but I think he's always like oh my god that's another one like uh Patrick Reed had another
greasy like floral print on that was the good stuff uh and then we kind of have an epidemic
going on we got the all black golf shoes black on black we call them the blow-by shoes are you
wearing all black no no these are blue with white so I'll be clear if you have white soles on the
black golf shoes we're fine it's the black on black with the black soles and
What were you calling?
Bryce they were very orthotic. Yeah, it was like they look very prescription
Yeah, I thought it blow buys Wyndham had some on Hideki had some on who else had Xander, of course
You know looks like fifth grade picture day
But I don't know why it feels like the black on black golf shoes are making like a charge and I don't like it. Be vigilant about that. If you see that,
just take note, maybe say something to your friends. And then on the good side of Jason Day
looked really good. Scotty, I kind of liked, he went with kind of an off burnt orange. He's always
in blue and white. I thought that was interesting. Officer Gillis. So that was good. And then
actually something I found really interesting,
you know I like to track the sponsor,
the sleeve sponsor stuff.
Salesforce, they didn't deal with all the live players.
So they got basically a logo mashup
of the Salesforce cloud logo.
You know, I'm sure we have some software sales reps
in the room, you know the logo I'm talking about.
Very happy, very, you know, we're in the clouds, right? Going to Dreamforce
disruption, all that stuff right above the live logo.
Yeah, Nicholson, Bryson, Hatten, Rom, Sergio, they're all
rocking it. I've never seen Salesforce do anything in golf.
And I just found that really, really interesting to see them
come out swinging with like a live wide deal at a major
championship. Stop the watch.
Three observations, fellow disruptors. Yeah.
You guys are disrupting.
We're disrupting.
It really worked.
They got me talking about it.
Maybe there's something there.
You talk about everything.
Not a lot of salespeople in the audience.
They're all bankers.
All right.
Sure.
Middle market bankers.
Come on.
The research triangle around here.
Right.
Yep.
This is about the research triangle.
Yeah.
You're just outside the research triangle.
Shout out to SurPro.
TC, I want to throw it over to you. You got to take a spin through the merch tent.
I did.
What was your opinion?
What'd you find?
I did.
I'm going to rep for the 704 here.
You know, like truly, truly, truly when the barstool hat is the highlight, like like the bar stool NASCAR themed hat I
kind of liked when that's the highlight of what you're seeing things are bleak
the PGA of America only like insists on putting the the massive quail hollow
plus like this this logo on basically everything I'm kind of into that that
logo sick I'm not an animal shirt enthusiast.
This one with the quail on the front.
I'm kind of in on that.
I kind of like this one.
This one's horrific.
Not only is it the upside down backwards.
It's gonna look good in the mirror though.
Yeah.
It's this green color
that I don't know where it came from.
What else we got?
We got this 704 clt one here?
You know I kind of like this one. This was the first
You know the North Carolina license plate I like that one
Is kind of just like being the fake Queen City North Carolina's not quite the
just like being the fake queen city. North Carolina's not quite the first in flight. The Wright brothers are from Ohio. I was going to say.
Okay, well that one is a little bit... This one's truly atrocious as well. I'm going to
give that one to you. I think you would like that one. It's like the Rob Lowe.
The QC. And then of course just the the Alzheimer, the quail.
Yeah.
You know.
That's what's coming home with me.
I'm just coming around to that one.
I'm not going to lie.
I know you are.
He said that as we were leaving the bathroom.
He's like, that's actually kind of sick.
It's kind of, you know.
I didn't see anything that just said hollow or the hollow.
The hollow.
I really want one.
No vowels obviously in there, but shave the rough.
If we can just get one of those
I think that would that would be just mo mo, you know the Fahs
MW mo yeah
Anything else?
I think my favorite thing was actually I actually bought one for Randy
They had the little Taylor Swift bracelets in there. That's nice. With Quill Hollow.
Draftin' off of that one.
A little NASCAR kind of stock cars
that you like put on your desk and stuff.
That's good, I like that.
That's a fun tie in.
Well listen, I wanna send the merch czar out
in case anybody's got any questions.
I don't know how our tech setup's gonna work,
but if you got a question,
maybe he can hand out some of these hats.
You got a question?
We got two already.
All right.
Good.
Hold on, let's get our tech work out here.
We're gonna be live.
While we're doing that, while you get out there,
they're gonna get set up here for a second.
We're gonna give a shout out to our friends at Omni.

You don't hear us. Check, check. Cody, check. Got a little delay.
Cody check got a little delay all right name in town ask your question Thomas Lanzer I live in Atlanta but I'm from Charlotte I like to concern myself a bit
of a merch proletariat Neil appreciate everything you do for the for the store
my questions for TC TC you've said a lot about my beloved Queen City I'm hoping
you'll issue a male maya copa if our boy Thomas Fleetwood wins this weekend at
quail hollow and proclaim Charlotte to be the real queen city. First of all thank you.
Congratulations on the shirt.
The shirt is just unbelievable.
Neil, can we get those in the shop?
What are you doing?
We're going to talk after.
I would say I will congratulate Tommy
on winning his first PGA Tour event here.
But I'm not sure
this even qualifies as a big DDE at the moment so we'll have more to come on
Charlotte here in the coming minutes. Alright moving on, name of town. All right, uh Tim Daly from Charlotte roost captain if you will
TC
Will you capitulate on?
The Charlotte meals. How was your lunch at Lang Van? How was last area last night?
What have the restaurants of Charlotte brought you this week? I?
Was very very critical coming in. My wife
comes up here all the time to recruit at Gonson and Wales and I've always thought
there's in a city of two or three million people I thought there should be
more depth and more going on. I've been very impressed with the high-end stuff. I
want to thank everybody for the hundreds of
recommendations that came through. I mean, truly, I probably got 300 or 400 DMs in about 55 emails.
I will say 80% of the recommendations were the exact same.
Like, there's not a lot of breadth. But some of the meals that I've had this week
went to Long Van, the kind of divey Vietnamese place for lunch today it was
awesome it was better than any Vietnamese food I've had in Atlanta or San
Francisco even. Can you guys know how much I love the meat food? Yeah
I'll say last night. We went to Los Trica. I had a 10 course tasting meal. I know you guys feel me on that
Wine pairings the whole deal some of the some of the truest guys took us out
they're like we're gonna take you out and we're gonna change your mind here and
there was a couple food bloggers there. The owner of a custom shop was there. And that was one of the... I think
that place will have... that'll have a Michelin star within the next 18 months,
I think.
So props to them. The chef and his wife wife Kat, they were wonderful and could not have been nicer.
Notably the Charlotte Observer columnist.
You know what, TC, I got something on that just for anybody.
People are disavowing this guy.
For anybody who missed it, let me jump in, there was a headline this week in the paper of record,
the Charlotte Observer. This is during PGA Championship Championship week like there's nothing else to talk about other
than this this was the headline diet Atlanta question mark this golf
podcaster has no clue how good Charlotte's food scene is again this is
in the Charlotte Observer by Timothy Depew I believe it's the the author's
name the lead to the story Charlotte has a lot of apologizing to do,
they kind of captured your likeness there at least. Charlotte has a lot of apologizing to do,
at least according to professional golf podcaster Todd Schuster. Who, were you to listen to the
Trap Draw podcast posted to Instagram the other day, is in the unfortunate position of needing
to come to the Queen City, fake Queen Queen City for the PGA tournament this week.
The Princess City, the podcast hosted by, this is my favorite line, the podcast hosted
by golf media character Phil Landis, aka Big Randy has something to offend just about everyone
who lives in Charlotte from
the two belittling the jobs of some or all according to him as after all there are nothing
but mid-level junior bankers here to the sports that we follow that was in the paper of record
this week so I just congratulations to Tron and congratulations to the Charlotte Observer
to the people here that That's good, good stuff.
I think there's a few places I didn't get to hit.
I didn't get to Custom Shop.
Truly, I'd like to come back up and do it right in a non-major week and be able to eat
around the city.
I guess the chicken wings at one of these places, SVP.
Yeah, SVP was shouting those out. Everybody said those are wonderful. We
went to Supperland.
Oh, so good. Oh my God.
It was very heavy, but it was exceptional. Great space, converted church, all that.
Shout out to Thomas, our waiter. What an experience.
I will say, probably a lot of people in this area, in this room or outdoor
room here, reached out and said, honestly, man, you're kind of right.
It's a big like, you know, we're allowed to say that, but you can't say that.
It's like, you're right, but you're just a dick.
But I do think I probably, I ascribed everything I thought
about Charlotte in 2005 to 2015 and it seems like it's come a long way in the last 10 years.
That's so big of you. You know, and I think, and I think, you know, when I drive around,
I do feel like I'm just driving through a 20 mile long version of like Brookhaven or Roswell, the
suburbs of Atlanta or Bethesda or places like that. But no, I like Charlotte, good people
here. It almost feels quasi Midwestern in a way of like the people are extremely friendly.
And uh, yeah, I think the food might be better in Pittsburghittsburgh though with that i'll send it back to
you d thank you thank you that was that was good stuff i think that's all pretty level-headed
yeah i'll i'll meet you in the middle all right yeah that's a bit like the starting mud ball thing
right i haven't had any beer here everybody i guess this is like the beer city everybody loves breweries
uh let's i'll send it to the czar.
I think he's got another live one on the hook.
Check, check.
Let's make sure we're, name and town.
Yep, hey, I'm Michael from Charlotte.
I had a lot of questions for TC
that have already been answered.
So I'll pass this one off to DJ and Solly.
I feel like we're overlooking the first page
of leaderboard a lot,
just assuming they're not gonna be there.
If you had to pick someone on the first page
of leaderboard right now to win this thing, who is it and why?
Great question. How big is the first page? Let's go minus three or better. I have to
pick somebody at minus three or better to win. There's 19 guys at minus three or better. You want to go first? I'll say Keegan. Why not? Wow.
Let's go.
Why not?
He's my guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, the giraffe.
I'm going to start dotting the board like TC does so I can claim victory on anything
that ever happens.
So I should get some stock of Keegan is going to win.
I will say this.
I told TC this, I really do think this
week Keegan can move past Jacob Bridgman on the Ryder Cup standings. I firmly believe
that and I will not hear any other argument otherwise. I think he cracks the top 20 this
week.
And that you can print, Charlotte. You put money on that. It's a good question. Keegan
is kind of where my mind went.
Truly like we were talking about the setup
and it does feel a little freaky,
but I won't go a different direction.
A guy whose game I've always really, truly,
really liked is Cam Davis.
I feel like he does have a game kind of built.
Was not expecting any cheers, but thank you.
That's not why I was doing it.
Cam Davis' brother's here in the back, apparently.
I just, I really like his game. I like his iron play like the way he
drives it I like a lot of stuff about his game and it seems I don't know it's
just I test like he seems built to play major championship courses he played
really well here at the President's Cup in that one was kind of not surprising
so I'll go with I'll go with Kim Davis. Good question. He won on a Fahs last year at Castle Pines. He's won a PGA championship on kind of a forgettable golf
course in Atlanta Athletic Club.
Gigan.
Gigan.
Yeah.
I like your.
Zarr, what do we got?
Make sure we're on.
We're on.
Nick Towser.
Hey, guys.
Will from Charlotte.
I think it's probably safe to say that quail is
a better venue than valhalla the slash wells fargo championship and you have 17 pga
how would you look if it was not as exposed?
I think, Carl, you're kind of cutting out.
I think the question was, how would Quail stand up
if it was not, if we weren't here so much?
Is that right?
I think it would be a little bit of mystery around, of course,
and these championships is good no matter what.
I think it would, you know, we just wouldn't have,
it wouldn't remind us of watching a signature event or a
PGA Tour event here. So I do think it is overly exposed. It's
hard to remove all that because again, it just doesn't doesn't
wow me. Would I take this course over Oak Hill? Probably not. It's
close, but I wouldn't. But like, to your point, Valhalla is not
even in the conversation when it comes to Quail Hollow. And I
think we do tend to be a little hard because of the overexposure more than it is
an actual flawed golf course.
So you're saying Rory said that he would take Quail Hallow 6-4 over Royal County Down.
You're not on that.
You just played Royal County Down a couple of weeks ago.
Yeah.
My answer would differ from Rory on that.
You're calling bullshit there.
I'm guessing he had a lot more monetary value.
I mean, he makes a lot of money at Quill Hollow, but yeah, I'd probably be closer to 9-1,
I believe, on County down to Quill Hollow. No, I do think some of the Quill Hollow
stuff's gotten maybe overblown. I think it's a really good
PGA Tour golf course, signature event course. I think it's much better than Belle Reve,
far better than Valhalla. But I do think, like today we watched, it's much better than Belle Reeve, far better than Valhalla.
But I do think, like today we watched, it's tough to make compounding errors out there.
You're just going to get it back to kind of square one and maybe make bogey or double
at worst.
And there's just not a lot of thoughtfulness in your recoveries, I don't think.
Well, and I would even add to that, like going back to the rough conversation is if you do hit one of those balls in the water
and you make a double,
then all of a sudden you're kind of pressing.
And if there's more opportunities
where there's less rough to hit in the water,
like that's where some of that compounding comes from.
And so to your point,
it's like not only are you being saved the first time,
you're being saved the second time
and you're being saved the third time.
And like, that's kind of what we saw from Rory today.
So it's, I'm with you.
I think that's well said.
We had a couple more questions. All right, we've got two more hats. So I'm with you. I think that's well said. We had a couple more
questions. All right. We've got two more hats. We're going to have to go investor day style.
Right here in the back, I want you to come up here. T.C., watch your foot. You're going to want to
pull the wire out. Come on up. Name and town, sir. My name is Benny. I'm from the Quad Cities,
home of the fifth major. Bless you. Thank you, sir. Thank you. He's got his John Deere Classic shirt on and everything.
I'm gaming out here, man. I got to know. Championship course like Quail, how do you think these
players can prepare for a real course like the fifth major where you can go out and shoot
59 on Thursday and miss a cut on Friday?
Wow. Wow. Well, I would point you again to Cam Davis, right? A proud major champion in the
greater Quad Cities area. But it's a good question. TC, any comparisons you want to draw between
Quail and John Deere? I would say I could see Johnny Vegas missing the cut.
That's true. It's a good point. No, I think, I't know. It's, it's, um, you know, you got a lot of guys that, that either haven't won or haven't
won big events.
And so they're, they're both springboards to bigger things.
So I think if somebody wins here at Quail Hollow, it could be a springboard to maybe
winning a traveler's championship or, uh, you know, the farmer's insurance open something
like that. That was, that was really good. So that's insurance open. Something like that.
That was really good.
That's so mean.
All right, we got one more.
One more.
Come on up, right here.
Come on up, right here in the front.
Name a town, sir.
Oh, almost a career ender.
Almost a career ender there.
Steven Ingram from Greensboro, North Carolina.
Go ahead, what's your question, sir?
Question would be, outside of number two, is Quail Hollow the best force in North Carolina. Well, what's your question, sir? Question would be outside of number two is well, hollow the best course in North
Carolina.
Great question there.
Gentlemen.
What?
I don't even think, I mean, is it the best course in Charlotte?
I think, I think old town is absolutely better. Old Town as well.
Does that count in Charlotte?
No, he said North Carolina.
I think I would put Mid Pines above it just as far as it depends on I know it's not a
championship golf course.
I put Southern Pines above it. Carolina Golf Club. Give some
shoutouts for Carolina Golf Club. You know what? This is kind of embarrassing.
Other than the Pinehurst area, I haven't played a ton in the States. I don't have
a great frame of reference. Eagle Point was really good when they had the
Wells Fargo at the time there. Honestly, I would put the Wilmington Uni above it.
I really like the Wilmington Uni. It's hard. Quail Hollow is very
clearly built to be a championship level golf course, which
like, none of us have any business playing and like there's a lot more fun style of golf
that we appreciate probably a lot more than Quail Hollow.
I mean, we've got Roaring Gap. We've got, you know,
Todd Hill Farm is in North Carolina or South Carolina?
We've got Sej.
Many people are saying we forgot Sedge,
which is fair. Diamond Creek, Chalcolipaws, Wade Hampton, things of that nature. Take a couple more.
I feel like the questions are, the questions got some juice. Anybody else? I don't have a hat for
you, but we can get you one right here. Come on up, sir. Investor Day. The mid-level bankers know all
about that. These are all shareholders. Any beef you've got, we can sell right now.
We're no banker from the Plex.
Wow.
Big D, far traveling, long time listener, first time caller.
Here we go.
Solly, it's time.
You have to decide.
12th man on the Ryder Cup team.
Our guys, one under today, Andrew Novak,
KJ Spond, or Keegan Bradley. Hell yeah. Our guys won under today Andrew Novak JJ spawned
Or Keegan Bradley, oh, yeah I have to decide between Keegan JJ spawn and and Andrew Novak for the 12 spot right now right now
What's my spot? He kind of?
Else think on that already covered the Keegan. I'll take I'll take Andrew Novak right there
Stick your neck out. I that. I think he's finally
starting to realize that these hypotheticals have no stakes you can say
whatever you want it doesn't matter. Also I think Solly's more worried about that
the eighth or ninth spot on the right. We didn't mention Jordan's speed shot 76 today as well. We're fine.
We're totally fine. In case We don't get to that later.
All done, right?
All done.
All right.
Next question.
Name and tout, sir.
Hunter from Huntersville.
It's very easy to remember.
First, I have a mea culpa.
I am a proud slash embarrassed owner of a big leather hat.
You'd be embarrassed to know.
What is it?
The road has fallen.
Tobacco road has fallen.
I saw it.
I have one.
He wrote us.
We had a conversation over here. Let's clean a place
was a big topic today. What about lift clean place on
certain holes where you know it's wet, but not other holes. I
love that. I love that. I love that one. And I love one thing
we were talking about. Let's clean a place. It's like a made
up rule, right? It should only be for par fours and par fives
and after your first shot.
So nothing around the green.
That's what really bothers me is when you can take
a full club length, get a better, you know,
more level lie if you want to, a more uphill chip.
You can even putt it sometimes.
That should never happen.
Just be able to clean your ball on the fairway
when there's mud on it.
It's that simple.
So, perform on lift, clean and place,
and reform on TIO are two campaigns I support. TIO
reform is at the top of my agenda.
Solly, real quick. We kind of breezed by it. Brooke's getting
relief today.
So this is a problem.
Yeah. I don't even think Neil heard about. Neil's about to
don't buckle your knees. You're gonna pass out. You hear this.
So Brooke's kept the third hole today and blows it over one of
the PGA blue fences. Out of the ballpark fences out of the ballpark out of the ballpark
Touch a ball see it under the range or where the equipment trucks are parked
John McGinnis is like well, they're scoring this a bogey, but that's a seven he hit it over the fence
We've since learned he got free relief for hitting it out of the ballpark to the right. It was a free drop
Huh?
Yeah.
And McGinnis was,
For hitting it in the driving range?
Yeah.
I mean, I don't care what Muni in America you're playing at.
That's, that's O.B. homie.
Reload.
It was really, really tough.
It was unfortunate.
It did not help Brooks very much.
I believe he shot 75 as well today.
And he is not in the hunt, unfortunately. All right, Investor Day, come on up right here, sir, in the front.
Alright, my name is Brandon. I'm from Atlanta, Georgia and my question, thank you,
can we talk about how Joaquin Nieman had another just stellar opening round in a major?
Why would you even bring that up? That's so unfair to you to analyze that. That's ridiculous. the happening man what did he shoot 76 today something like that he was 33 to 1 and
that was completely ridiculous the guy has zero track record in any major
championships he's getting shoved down our throats by the bots and we're not
having that anymore we're not beating around the horse anymore with that one
we're not good at you though it's a good alley-oop I see you we got right here
we love this shirt right here David Towser go Matt Sullivan Talhasse Florida
my dad would ask this question but his flight was delayed so he's not here to We love this shirt right here. David Towser. Go Matt Sullivan. Tal has Florida.
My dad would ask this question, but his flight was delayed, so he's not here to join.
What airline was it?
I can't answer that question.
You have to.
You have to.
You already know.
American?
Yeah, of course.
So team Rose has gotten a lot of run, but in yeah, in all of the NLU nicknames, what is your
favorite and what is the weirdest interaction you've had after somebody discovers it?
That's a great question.
Really good question.
I...
That's a really good one.
Get a shirt.
Don't take that shirt off, but grab a free one over here.
So I'll answer the second part first.
We may have told this story before, but we were at Hilton Head.
It was the first day I met Randy ever.
It was me and Tron and Randy walking around Harbor Town.
And we just talked about this recently, maybe episode 1,000.
It had 500 Michelob Ultra Cactus limes, just like awful, feeling awful at the end
of the day, just like not good and
honor bond Lahiri is
Walking off the putting green and drawn like a little too loud just goes. Oh, yo, it's Airbnb
And we're like, oh, yeah, it is and he kind of like looks over. He's like no he's like not till July my friend
And we're like what the fuck was that?
What does that mean we
still haven't figured it out it was like six years later we're in the lobby of
the hotel the BMW championship in Chicago it was like at Conway farms and
it was like it was late like after dinner probably like 1030 11 o'clock and
we're just kind of standing in the lobby and honor bond walks in and he's just kind of hanging out and he's like we're not it was clear we weren't going to be bothering him or anything and so I was like hey man it's super weird but like we've been thinking about this for like six years like you heard us say airbnb and then you looked at us we had never met you or anything but you just said not till july my friend like what did that do you remember that like what did that mean he goes honestly like i do
he's like i was staying in an airbnb at the open for the first time in july and i don't i thought you were like from airbnb or something and so i was like all in my head about staying at this
airbnb and i looked over i was like no man like not in july i'll be there and we're like oh that
makes so much sense anyways long answer and then he joined the crushers and we're like, ah, that makes so much sense. Anyways, long answer. And then he joined the Crusher's and we haven't heard from him since.
We'll go around. What's your favorite?
That's a great question.
That's a tough one to follow. Favorite nickname?
Yeah, I'll throw a pastor.
Troy Merritt. Oh, no, no, no, no.
The prophet or the prophet.
I can get that wrong.
So this is so fucking stupid.
But like station 11, this is the HBO show.
There was the guy or the book, the guy called The Prophet and he just had read that children's book a million times.
And then it came out that Troy Merritt's read the Harry Potter books like 800
times or like, oh, it's like that station 11, The Prophet from the last.
You can hear like how funny that is.
It's not funny. But me and Neil just like, we were getting so funny.
So anyway.
That's how it works.
The more unfunny the bit, the longer it will go on.
Like it will just continue to remind you of whatever it is.
Do you see?
I mean, Quail Hollow Rory came up to me and he's like,
yo, you're calling me the McRib?
What's that about?
I'll say, Denny McCarthy,
when he found out about the Lee Harvey Oswald
Yeah, he's good and he's yeah, I don't know that was he was like yeah, like I get it but
Enough I mean we need to tell Aaron rye about the ti-83. That's a good one
That's a good question. It's good question from Florida. Anybody else right here? Come on up, sir
That's your dad on that delay.
I hope they, you know, yeah, we'll be fine.
I'm sure Americans all over.
I'll take care of you.
Okay, man.
Uh, James Banks from Australia from land down under.
Whoa, let's go.
Cam Davis fan.
Okay.
Same shirt that Cam Davis was wearing today.
Are you his brother?
Not quite.
Rory's coming down, down under in December next year. What does Australia need to do to get more of the bigory's coming down in December next year.
What does Australia need to do to get more of the big names to coming down, to get more
of the golf in Australia?
Good question.
Great question.
Rory would love to answer.
I would say get some sort of co-sanctioning between DP World Tour and US Tour so it feeds
into, I would say move it to January and have it
a little bit later in your summer.
And then I'm not a huge fan of the head of golf Australia, who also ruined cricket as
well.
So I would get him out of there.
Me, TC, at the bar for more on that later.
I think it is just like an unfortunate reality of pro golf, like the really not fun answer.
We've all been to Australia multiple times.
We've seen the incredible golf.
We've documented it, I think pretty darn well.
It's one of our favorite places to go.
When Scottie Scheffler can roll out of bed and go down the street, play for $20 million,
it would take a lot of convincing him to fly 24 hours down to Australia to go play for
less money, almost certainly.
It's not 24 hours though. From Dallas, it's 15. It's 16.
It's a lot. It's a lot. TZ can send him some plus points too.
These guys aren't looking to be on the road more than they are. And the amazing golf courses
doesn't end up winning the day for professionals, which is a bummer. I wish it was different,
but that's the reality. Roy is one of the few people that I think sees the greater good of
golf. And why I've personally been a fan of Rory is it feels like a lot of things he says and a lot
of the decisions he make are in the best interest of golf and golf fans. So I do appreciate that
he's going down there and doing that. But listen, the Collin Moore Cowlick won't stand up and answer
questions after rounds of golf, which is a bad example because Rory won't now these days anyways.
But these guys just don't necessarily have the best interest of golf in mind and in hand
when they make their decisions about their schedule, which is a bummer.
Let's do two more.
Two more questions right here in the front.
Nice shirt, strapped, love that.
Name a town, sir.
My name is Spencer.
I'm from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Pause. You already know. You can'm from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania What pause?
Your you want me to know please is it is Pittsburgh in the Midwest or the Northeast?
I actually loved how Tron put it. I would not put us in the
Midwest I think it's something Appalachia actually the Paris of Appalachia. Yes, I agree for that
What's your question, sir?
So I have my strap shirt on. I'm going to take a little bit of a divert from where we were about the tournament.
I have some some sweet seat members here.
Do we ever think the mega bonus is going to happen?
I really thought in West Texas you had it.
So did I.
Are we ever going to do it?
Do you guys have faith in Neil to ever get the mega bonus done?
Thanks for that question.
Sorry, I think-
Grab a shirt on the way out.
We have some concerns that is the mega bonus going to be done right?
Is it going to be done on a proper golf course?
It could be done on an executive course or a putt putt course or something like that.
We've seen a lot of shenanigans from the guys. So a lot of trust has been broken over the years,
going over the budget, somehow factoring in 60% inflation now with the budget.
Boring.
You know, sneak it in like a 5,300-yard course when he was 300 part, whatever it is. I believe
in Neil's talent. I do, regrettably. TC, of course, does as well. He thinks Neil can shoot 59.
You gotta explain that one. That's a that's a good one. Yeah, there was a it was a nest pot or something we did several years ago, where TC was like who had the highest
ceiling TC said Neil had the highest ceiling of anybody by five or six shots. And that
was like a month or two after I shot 64. I think so that was an interesting thing. I stand by it. He's going to go. Anyways, 59.
Hell yeah.
Neil, Neil, I was swinging it so well in Strap West Texas.
I've seen him swing it really well.
I know, I know he's got it in him.
It just, the strap is more infrequent now.
It's a lot harder.
The kid, you know, he got all grown up.
Stars have to align.
It has to align.
I appreciate the questions.
My interest.
He's going to do it.
This is literally like how powerful it is.
It's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it. The kid, you know, he got all grown up. Stars have to align. It has to align. Well, keep it posted. I appreciate the questions. My interest, yes. He's going to do it.
This is literally like how people talk about Rory winning the Masters for years.
Yeah, can he do it? I mean, he's just, he's...
It's been 11 years. He's so talented. I mean, look at him. Look at the golfer. He's so talented.
That course, God, that course fits him so well. There's no doubt in my mind he's going to do it.
All right. Where's Spencer? Do you think he's going to do it? Where did Spencer go?
Give him the yellow. Do you think he's gonna do it? Where did Spencer go?
Give him the yellow. Do you think he's gonna do it?
You think he's gonna hit the mega bonus.
Full faith to confidence.
Round of a, was anybody else think he's gonna do it?
Anybody.
It's not gonna happen.
All right, we got one more question.
Right here, sir.
Also, I wanted to say a bunch of you recommended
Cronkleton in town.
Not for me, not my tempo and it's a chain.
Alright name in town.
Believe it or not, Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania as well.
Mike and Mara, you know what we're
going to ask you first.
I know questions come my way.
I can't say we're Midwest, but we're not quite northeast. We're in that middle area. Appalachia, you had it right.
Tron, you're on target.
He's making all kinds of compromises.
You did not have it right. He said Midwest.
Okay. First off, thanks for everything you guys do online.
Second, Tron, 2022, you are noted to say that Scottie would be the worst possible winner
of the Masters, correct?
Yeah.
2025 PGA Championship, who is the most unbecoming champion that we have on our hands?
Great question.
That's a great question.
That's a great question.
We have a sure right over here, sir.
Ben for the banger.
CC.
Yeah, I'm going to say the most unbecoming champion would be someone like a Rory or like
a proper player. I mean, dude, you're just saying it. Just say his name. Fleetwood. Be now.
You got any input on that?
This is a tough one.
It's a tough backhanded one.
Worst possible option.
Worst possible option up there.
Foxy would be bad for you.
I honestly think it might be Hatton, and that's why I'm saying it.
I think it's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one. It's a tough one. It's a tough one. It's a tough one. It's a tough backhanded one. There's a lot of options up there.
Boxing would be bad for you.
I think it might be Hatten,
and that's why I'm concerned about it.
Most unbecoming winner, like hands a really good player.
If you would be it'd be quite deserve.
Like Jimmy Walker does this where on the court.
Just like it's kind of unbecoming the way he goes.
Sure.
What if Luke Donald won his first major here?
That would be wild. That would be wild.
I'm hoping he makes his first cut in 2025 tomorrow because he has not made a
cut. I think he's made one cut since last July. I believe he's not playing a
full-time schedule, of course, but, um, gosh, most unbecoming. There's so many,
like it's, it's honestly like, it feels very personal to pick out a name,
a lot of different directions that are under par right now because of how many
are up there.
I'll say Aaron Rye. Sorry. Good player. Good ball striker. But it's just not.
I can't believe you're going to do that to your dad.
Despite what Neil's great bit was suggesting. I'm going to say Aaron Rye.
I'm going to say Ryan Gerrard. Even TC said he was a very improper player. I think that
would be on the coming. We're on, I'll say this Porter tweeted this out earlier.
Our run we've had of major champions, the last 32 major winners Rory.
This is in order Rory Zander, Bryson Zander, Scotty, Brian Harmon,
Wyndham Clark, Brooks, John Rom, Cam Smith, Matt Fitzpatrick, JT,
Scotty, more Akawa, Rom, Phil Mickelson, Hideki, DJ, Bryson, Morikawa,
Lowry, Gary Woodland, Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods,
Brooks Koepka, Molinari, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed,
JT Spieth, Brooks Sergio.
That's going back to the 2017 Masters.
Which is kind of my point off the bat is like,
just have patience, a lot of golf left. And if we get an unbecoming winner this week we have been due for a
long time yeah really long time so who I would like to see win this week JT
Poston I think it'd be awesome I think it'd be a win for the eye test every
year there we go pound for pound guys I think we're moving towards towards
