If you have not seen the clips somehow, the memes and everything else. that's happening around this scene right now. Bryson hit a drive way right on the fifth hole, was over in the Fescue,

and they've showed a replay of him standing behind the ball, kind of walking back multiple times behind the ball, stepping on tall grass, that if I were to interpret the rules correctly, Neil, I know you're our rules guy, but it would be that he was improving the, I don't want to get the language wrong, but the path of his swing would potentially have been improved,

by him stomping on some of the fescue behind the ball. He did it multiple times. Hard to say at this exact moment, whether that was intentional or whether the grass stayed down. They went back out with the rules officials. I mean, you were just, let's look at the bar.

I mean, I was like, whoa, only Bryson, like, let me take you back to the scene of the crime. I'm going to show you. There is no,

there's no DNA here. You can't, you can't. I was like, are they going to be able to find the spot? I mean, that's in the tall, tall grass. And they did a pretty good job. They found it.

So I was pretty impressed by that. But this is, I mean, 95 stages of grief here. This is unbelievable theater. And we don't have any mics on it. So it's just all, all body language. It's unreal. It was, I was, just, it was magnetic. It's closest I've ever felt like I was watching the Truman show.

It was just like, just leave it on. Jim, Terry, you guys don't even need to say anything. I'll just, I'm just in. I'll just want to watch this. fire up the live stream. Just let me let me just marinate in this for a while. Completely surreal in every in every way. And I think like what made it even more surreal, you know, the tweet initially four hours ago or whatever was kind of floating around in our slack and like, I don't know. Some people are saying this a penalty. And I would have lost

every dollar I could possibly have gotten my hands on from investors from anybody on just betting that like, yo, come on. Like this is, there is nothing to see here. The other angle that we saw from NBC later on, I was like, okay, I see why, okay, I at least see why they got to take a look at it. I am so preconditioned to these things, not, not being enforced, not taken, you know, just this is the last thing I thought we'd be talking about. And it was already a spectacular day of golf, maybe my favorite Friday at a major in a decade. It was awesome.

And then this happened again. Oh, God. And, Sally, this is one of those things. We did that rule scandal pod in January. where like at Augusta sometimes it's like that didn't impact the tournament we're going to make that go away you know what I mean like and what you could make that argument here I mean he punched out from here like it was it a huge deal I'm not I'm not making that argument but I know I'm going you're going to see that online if there's two strokes here because that hasn't been confirmed yet correct as of as of us speaking right now it has not been confirmed it almost I cannot imagine a world where that it is not a penalty based on all of the demonstrative display we saw from Bryson here's what just just watching it for maybe the fourth time as we're seeing it here. It's like the kind of inarguable part about it is when he gets behind it for the first time, he just in place steps like four times.

Like, he's walking around like an elephant. He's waddling big. It's the heaviest footsteps. Yeah. Can we bring in our rules expert on this topic? Do we have slugger here? No.

Me see. Gentlemen. I was taking the night off. I was on the way to the butcher, and then I was going to go to the range. I sent this through at noon at like 1203 today, okay? Early on this. I just said, we got to take a look at this. What you sent through just had like when he had the club in his hands.

And when they showed that video of him before he has a club in his hand, when he initially gets back in the in the uh heather that's that's the uh incriminating stuff man we found the smoking gun yeah well i asked for clarification on what you said through because what you said through did not was not what i think the penalty is going to be for i think it's going for when he initially went behind the ball and just started going i think the people that were watching live saw some of that and then they only got certain parts of of the footage like recorded so I do want to read this into the record. This is from Joel Beal on site.

It said Bryson was just brought back. The last thing he could be heard saying was, quote, crooks, was asked by a writer if he was playing tomorrow. He smiled but didn't answer. This was speculated by Terry Gannon, which shout out to Terry Gannon and Jim Furik. That's a tough. That's a tough hand to be dealt there at the end of the day.

And back to Lucas Herbert here, guys. Yeah, it's 62. Yeah. But I thought they did great. They're trying to, they're trying to vamp. They're trying not to get out over their skis. That's a tough assignment. I thought they executed well.

But Terry went out on the limb and he's like, look, if I'm reading the lips, it looks like what he's saying is I'm not playing tomorrow, which is just, I don't know, man, the ball just finds this guy, the content ball. It's just you put her in the corner, you triple team them. He's going to hit shots. He's going to get touches. He's going to get touches. The ball is going to find our guy.

I'm in space for Bryson. Yeah. What a strike. It doesn't fail. I mean, he is a masher, you know, but mashing and stomping two different things here. Two different things. They don't like, they don't like enforcing the mashing, but evidently, the stomping is where they draw the line. Which, T.C, I'm so glad we have the line somewhere because the mashing in its own right is a bit of an epidemic, but at least we, at least we now have a clear red line.

Well, and it's such a, it's such a head fake for all of us. because we're all thinking, oh, is Johnny Rombo going to get a two-strokeer for an epic club throw on 15? And then it's just a complete turnaround here after. And it worth noting a fantastic finish and fantastic round of golf by by Bryson. Big boy shots. Awesome birdie on 18. I mean, what a drive. Like he played really, really good golf.

So I can understand why he's so pissed off, but he was stopping. He was. He was stopping. clarifying point here to DJ you read Joel's tweet Joel's tweet did say a writer asked the question Kevin Van Valkenberg has confirmed on social media that he was one that asked the question here. A lot of people in the comments there.

DJ was simply reading Joel's tweet that said a writer that it did not initially credit you. Of course. It's a live situation, guys. It's like John King at CNN. I got text coming in right now. Hold on.

Honestly, T.C. I had gotten that for it yet. I don't know. I don't know. I want somebody to steal me. If you're Bryson's attorney, right? What's the defense you would give Bryson? Like, this should not be a penalty.

What's the strongest case you could give of like, everybody does it? No intent. no intent. Why, why, what was the point he just chipped it out? Like, it didn't, it didn't have a meaningful impact. None of those were strong. Like, he got it over, he got it out and over the green.

Like, it wasn't just a pitch out. So, like, you could make the case that, like, he, by improving the lie, was able to get more club on it. I think my case would be like, the grass was kind of already going that way before he even got there a little bit. Or you can't see the ball. So the argument would be like, you don't know how close he stepped to the ball. So how could that impact where the, you know, is that improving his lie where the club's coming down? It looks so bad. It's bad.

He gets there. He stomps down in that exact spot twice. They changed the camera angle and it's exactly a pace behind the ball where he stomped behind. Like anybody with any honor would be like, all right, man, like, listen, that looks bad. I did this. Yeah, penalized me. I feel like too when he, that, that. from behind the ball when he steps back in right before he hits it,

that left foot is just really placed with forceful authority right in that grass of his swing path too. Like there's no lightness, there's no delicacy. It's, yeah, he's down with you. It looks bad. Stomping the yard, Randy. God, this is like, well, now it's like a, now we're talking between penalty

and like the C word, right? Of like, of like doing this. Like, I know, we've only used the word penalty to this point, but like if, with how intentional it looks, it's like,

oh, God, I mean, but this is like the biggest that I can remember, other than like when Rom got tested positive for COVID. Yeah. Like, of the impact on a big ass tournament.

You know? Hold on. And I need to read something else into the record. It was Friday morning of 2024 when Scottie Schaeffler got arrested. of playing his round of golf at the PGA championship. So I just want to say we now that's good. I was almost going to ask like what what's what's tiger tiger off the flag stick taking the drop.

You know, I took it back an extra step so that I could get a full number like that that one was an all time penalty. And then did Rob get penalized for me protected him? Ball moving at Memorial too like the grass behind the ball and it rolled backwards. Was that? Yes, but he he still won. He won by like six and like a penalty. and move him down to like four shots.

But that was where he made the face of like, you know, we got to penalize you for one for your ball moving. I just, the other part about this, not to, you know, we can talk about this all night, but it's,

I think it's just at a fever pitch too, because the golf was so freaking good today. It was like everything was just, I think everybody's just all systems go. And then this happened. It was like, yeah, it was just 100 out of 100 today.

I mean, I'm texting with four different guys right now that are, like on the PGA tour or former PGA tour guys and they're all like, dude, this is like black and white. It's cut and dried. Like you got caught red handed.

I would say it like, yeah, again, still processing this. Like I haven't really allowed my brain to get to the part where it's like, man, this looks really intentional and bad.

But like, what a bitch move if he doesn't play tomorrow. Like, dude, the officials, the officials of the tournament have said that you improved your path, like this gate. is a game of integrity.

Everybody looking at this situation has said this is a penalty, and you're just not going to play because you got penalized. You're three shots back in the Open Championship, and you're not going to play tomorrow. That is one of the bitchiest moves I've ever seen. Which hasn't happened yet. Which hasn't happened yet. We got to, you know,

even threatening that is one of the bitchiest. The guy standing outside with the glasses on. And it says recorders up above. Like they're having an inquisition. They're having an entire, what do they call it when they, when they do, like when they have a big public investigation in the UK. Inquisition, right? Inquisition.

Oh, man. Yeah, I don't even know how you transition to Lucas Herbert 62 or whatever. I mean, it's just a full, full throttle day. How long do we have you for, T.C.? Is it? England or what? Yeah, that's the question. I don't know.

What are we doing here? I'm so stressed, man. I was like minus five was the number. I'm going to London anyway on Monday. And so I'm like, all right, I can fly over early. I could either, like, I've had a flight booked into Manchester for the last week. And I really want to go. The problem is I have to leave at like 1145 tomorrow morning.

Or I drive to Orlando and I would need to leave for Orlando at like 5 p.m. So that would give me a little bit more. What I don't want is like to get there and watch Lucas Herbert win by four. I don't think there's a lot of dogs on this leaderboard. I don't, I'm not really, I'm not super concerned about. T.C.

Your guy, your guy hit the shots today. He did hit the shot, except for the one on 16. He hit the shots in the back. He hit the shots. No, he didn't hit the puns. He did hit the puns.

He did hit the pots. He did not hit the shots though. That's that, that's what matters. We have a. 6.6% win probability for Tommy Fleetwood right now, which to be fair, that's about what it was when you would have left to go to this world last time. I think when I hopped on that initial flight even last time, it was probably 1. I don't know, T.C. I mean, at this point, I think you got to ask the question is like, what would you regret more? Like, going and him not winning or not going in him winning. I think he'd regret not being there if he won.

Oh, for sure. For sure. Then you're like, ah, I'm. I'm on site and I feel stupid, but I know. I mean, it's crazy that this is in the conversation, but especially if Bryson gets a two-shot penalty and is back to five, uh, it's, it is a little bit of a different board, man.

Like, that's a different calculus. There's, there's not that many, you know, how many, or if he just doesn't play. I mean,

he just knocked off one of the, one of the big bosses. I did just look, Fanduel locked his odds, uh, which is, they don't want any runs on the bank going, everybody,

nobody knows what to do right now. Everybody, everybody's holding talking about bryson that is not not tommy the tc going does not affect tommy's odds i don't believe we got cam young brian gerard the detective neil you're sioux distressed i know i'm happy with that way there yeah uh mike wallace bud collie can't count can't count him out thomas deitry not not worried about him uh bitchy bob We got Fitz.

Fitz is right in the mix there. The real fits. Asserting himself. Yeah. The real fits. Frankie. Scotty. This is setting up to be an all-time good weekend.

I know. That's kind of where I'm, you know, easy for me to say, TC, but like, I just don't know what could be more of your shit. It's just a complete chaos fest.

The thing I don't want to happen. So one of the other things. I have it. I have a late, dictate what happens. Oh, okay. Well,

I have a lay flat confirmed for Newark to Munich. You're not going to get any, any, any sympathy here. Or if, if I go on Virgin Atlantic, I'm back at the bus,

This is such a good test. I love this. If you don't go, you're a fraud. Wow. Wow. Absolute fraud. I'm laying the gauntlet down. The more we talk about this, and I'm like, oh, come on.

You know, it would be the sickest thing of the R&A could do right now. Get over there. If they came out and they said, you know what, Rom is also a pattern. They just changed the leaderboard. Bryce and two strokes. Oh shit. Sick. Wow.

This guy outside the recorder's office needs a sponsorship agreement. Nobody is getting more screen time. NIL. This guy is here today. It looks so British. It's going to have a Kalshi logo on. God, I'm so torn here, guys, because, like, yeah, he may have C-worded and definitely deserve the penalty.

But man, this was a more interesting tournament when he was at minus seven. It's not a, I mean, he's not out of it. On paper, yes. But like, I think we've just been gifted maybe the most interesting, like 12 hours ever. Ever. It was already a great tournament. What if he goes live on YouTube? Like, how to direct to the people?

Dude, I think this is, I'm not going to say this is a sci-op. I'm not going that far. But, you know, guys at an inflection point in his career right now, he just got the biggest spotlight he's he's gonna get i like i can't could not be more interested in in how this goes god and if i'm fouledo i'm just waiting for this one of like got took driver look what happened you got to thread it man you got to thread it between these bunkers god he's gonna go full victim mode on this i mean if he if he doesn't play like that will be an all-time like late decision that's you're done uh

Every guy that I'm talking to right now is like, everybody knows you can't just like walk around everywhere. like you have to be careful with every step not trying to improve your lie like it is it is pretty cut and dry if you affect you know affect anything that will affect your your pet your swing your your lie swing or stance neal uh if you do anything manually to to to affect that it's a penalty whether you meant to or not kind of doesn't really matter uh if you do if you if you accidentally tear a limb off in a practice swing like that's a penalty like that's that's what it is so and and i mean i mean teaser we got a pod coming out next week with uh usGA like head of the rules where we got into

some of this where it's like if you asked them about something that happened at the u.s. open with with windham solid and he's like yeah there's a lot of times he's watching stuff where he's like that's a little uncomfortable like the guys taking a stance or but it's hard to enforce this one feels like with that second camera angle it's not that yeah somebody said he's in there 3d printing a new a new rule book That's a good line. I don't know. I guess we wait for the further update.

The question now is whether we, whether we see him play tomorrow. He's out of the, he's out of the tent. White smoke. This is incredible. Man. It's all that, I mean, we talked about is golf a little bit. The golf was awesome. Like that, if, yeah, I'll vamp for a bit if we need some time to see what the next update is here.

but like I feel like when people see Bryce in the top of the leaderboard, there was an instinct to like assume the setup is bullshit, the course is bullshit and like it's just a bomber. Bombers delight. Like if you've watched Bryson play golf the last two days, yeah, he's hit a lot of drivers, but it is not, it has not felt like the,

he can't keep getting away with it mean. Like he's playing really, really, really good golf. He has driven. He hadn't even putted it well, but like his approach shots have been great. Like he has unlocked whatever you need to do at Royal Burr.

Yorkdale over the last two days, especially up against what he's done in the first three majors so far this year. Like he's been a delight to watch. I mean, it's just been a much tighter, tighter game. I love the way he played the 17th hole. Just mashed a five iron long of that green chipped up, made easy birdie, drove it, you know, tried to drive nine today, missed on the right side of that green, chip up, easy birdie there. Like, that's good course management, good strategy, if I may say. And I mean, he's just playing really, really nice golf.

I was just very impressed by it all. I'm like, I don't know, you watched like a lot of the other best players in the world not be able to do things that he's been able to do on the golf course the last couple of days. And it hasn't felt like, like, I don't know, Wingfoot is the one that always comes up of just like a dull, boring, manipulated setup that played right only into his hands. Like, that's not what this tournament has felt like to this point. He's just played really nice golf to this point. Yeah, I saw him like hitting, him hitting driver on 10. We were talking about it on on Slack.

And it's just, especially since they showed that big drone shot right before. And it just looks like there's just nowhere to hit the ball. It seems like the most obvious layup ever back into the wind. And then him mashing that driver is just like, man, he's, he's very confident in this, in this game plan. And I don't know that I don't know that Scotty's game plan would be affected by this necessarily. But there's got to be a little wrinkle of, man, if I'm going to catch this guy, I need to keep, like, keep up to an extent. and Scotty hitting driver there too was all that was the only instance today where i was like wow that's is he is he kind of pushing him is he making him push the pace a little bit especially since

scottie can't make any putts it was just a it's an interesting way to to watch and play especially you know with with Lucas herbert shooting 62 after being one of the shortest players in the field yesterday and and seeing all the different spots that he laid up it's i'm with you there's like a lot more there's a lot more styles on display than we normally see but i also you can almost see unlock coming. Maybe it's just the players we were watching in featured groups or whatever, but you can almost see the unlock coming as more guys are pushing it. More guys are hitting more drivers. More guys are realizing like you heard ROMs hit a couple times. Like, oh, that's left. That's in the rough. That's totally fine. You know, as they kind of get away with it within the, you know,

avoiding that bad side like we were talking about yesterday. Like as long as I'm not in that bunker on the right, I can kind of be anywhere on the left is they seem to be like proven that concept and pushing it up there a little further and a little further and a little further, which we were talking about it. I think Porter wrote this, but it seems like it sets up for an exciting weekend of guys to be able to chase as well. If the players behind can open it up and hit more drivers and try to force more birdies, I think it's just going to keep getting better and better. I just don't think, to your point, this isn't a U.S. Open. I don't think it's trying to be a U.S. Open. It's not trying to be every, if you miss one shot, you're fucking dead and don't even think about

the rest of the week. It's a different tournament. And it's been belightful. Can I say that's where if I can. Like I feel like a lot of the major championship discourse, like the U.S. Open discourse has bled into all majors of them. Like there should be no low scores ever at any majors. And I'm very out. You too for that.

I'm here in this meeting right now. We just wanted at one major. We can't get it at one. You can't play a little too much water on the greens this week. But I think everything else has been wonderful. Compared to what, though? Like, what's the open that had like firmer? Like, I feel like we're up against a made-up British Open

where we have these magically fast and firm greens. Like the greens are always green. I've never said fast. Who cares about fast? Like at Carnusti, when they had the most burnt out open championship of our lifetime, the greens were greener than this. They were more receptive than this, if you remember. Like it-

I keep them alive. I know. I just want to see him turn it off a little bit more. What is, I feel like, and I'm not even directing this at you, I feel like I don't know what open we're trying to compare, like, set up in conditions to. Like, I honestly, like, maybe 2013 Mearfield is like the best version of firm greens, but they got more win than we gotten so far this week. Like, I think when people are upset about green stopping balls. Well, I feel like when I'm reading the discourse, you know, people that are upset, it's that the rough isn't penal, which is like, okay. That's what it's created.

It's created this bizarre of golf where you don't even worry about the fairways. The rough's fine. Just hit it. But my point to that. You'll catch a good lie and the greens are receptive. Like, that's fine. It's what it is. But it's, you know, it's not the best.

It could be. I mean, yeah, the rough was more penal. That's fine. But what I was going to say is when I've watched golf the last two days, I don't get the sense that anybody's pinning their ears back. Like I saw a lot of Lucas Herbert. He made a ton of. of long putts.

Like it wasn't like stopping the, you know, the ball stopping on the greens, but it wasn't like he was playing darts out there. And I didn't see any of Sam Burns's round, so I can't comment on that round. But with the rest of the guys, like, it didn't look like anybody was pinning their ears back. And if you were to say to me that the winning score here was going to be minus 18, you know, to make like apples to apples with like a Valhalla, you know, like a high scoring birdie fest major, I'm like, dude, this, I'll give you two shots today.

that I found like, I'll watch all day long. The first is Bryson's approach into 14 today. Awesome drive. And he tried to carve one in there. It rolled right to the peak of the hill, sat there for a second, and then rolled back around the edge of the bunker. You know, that bunker on the right side is like 20 yards short of the green. And it was just like the perfect, like example of the ball on the ground is exciting.

Yeah. And thin lines. Because if that rolls over the other side, it probably rolls onto the green or whatever. And then Scotty's approach into 17 Might have been the coolest rubber the green It's rubber the green of the cinch I mean he just like and it was set up with bones He's like oh my God this is on such a good line

Scottie's posing It hits the ground it bounces 90 degrees right up up Like 10 feet into the heather And then he hits that unbelievable flop shot to 10 feet Now he doesn't pay off the birdie But it was like that's exciting man I don't know how else to put it other than And like if you're watching the golf, like that's, that's the difference to me is that like, man, Scotty could have bounced on the green and he's got a puffer eagle.

But instead he's got a gnarly-ass chip for, you know, for that no human can hold the green with. And that's just sick. So I don't know. I love it. Can I give a Bryson update? This comes from KVV. Surreel scene. This is quoting KV's tweet.

Surreal scene here. Bryson walked by after 30 minutes in scoring. Ask the reporters, quote, are you guys having a good night? And quote, a couple people said, sure, are you? He said, quote, I'm having a great night. I'm going to go hit some balls. Didn't answer if he's playing tomorrow, but now he's hitting balls on the range. And he signed one autograph.

If he doesn't play tomorrow, that person needs to. And it was not his scorecard. He needs to go film a YouTube video over at Hillside or Southport, AIDSdale, if he decides not to play. old-headed friend who was out there with Bryson. Holding the line, TC. Exactly. These guys are, these are our big time, big time players for big time moments. I mean, anybody else would have would have buckled under that.

It's a great testament to the great man, John Paramour. Yeah, it's kind of what was in my head too. Who's smiling down on us. T.C., I want to zoom back in on what you said about like, like, I feel like this,

you said the word setup. I feel like the scope of setup at the open championship is much smaller than what we see at the U.S. Open in the PGA Championship, right? Like the, the, the setup is whole locations, T's, like they did a lot of stuff in the lead up to this. When we were out there in early May, they had, you know, sections of the fairway marked off that you don't want divotts in, one, and two, had a bunch of ropes up for the rough, as in like, don't take your trolleys through here, certain areas of the rough you weren't even allowed to play out of, as in we are doing all we can to get the rough to grow up here. But what the R&A and this championship has never been about is

manipulation in some way. Like we're not going to see them come in and fertilize. I take that back. There was a recent open where they did fertilize rough in some way. But like the idea, I forget which one that was, was that 2020, Liverpool, whatever it was. But like, you know,

maybe lessons learned from that in terms of like, we're not going to manipulate the golf course. Like it's going to be played the way it's found. And like that's the, that's where I'm like, all right, yeah, I love a proper test. I love like all. I feel like there's so much more pressure on a setup when you're stateside,

when the grass is green, when you're playing our style of golf in the U.S. is, yeah, is a manipulated way of playing it. It's a completely different way of maintaining a completely different turf to the point where like, yes, the rough is not that penal in this, but there's so much chess still to be played in avoiding bunkers, landing balls on the right path. As soon as it's happened so quickly, you see a ball curving the wrong way in the wind.

when there's a little bit of win there has been out there. You're like, dude, that's got no shot of holding. Got no shot of holding to the point where I think people are saying, I'm seeing all these balls stop on greens and that shouldn't happen. It's like, dude, that's one of the good shots. Like we're watching mostly highlight tapes when we tune in. If you've watched feature group coverage, if you watch Jordan Speath play this golf course,

you see how tight the lines can be and how easy the rejection can be. And I would just say, like, appreciate this tournament for what it is. We have the 3M next week, guys. Like, and if we are mad, I'm not talking to you. I'm saying the social discourse, Today it was when Lucas Herbert shot 62 today was, was like, I couldn't believe it. It was like, dude, what about I. I feel like we're watching two different golf tournaments.

Cause I call it out. Top 100, Rick. Top 100, Rick. A bad take, man. I had to put, I had to take him down, man. Like, mad about the leaderboard? Like, this is a weird and quirky championship. All right.

We did have a grant, Moore chief referee for the RNA come in, went through the conversation with him. And the key things that stuck out, the actions that Bryson took were accidental, not intentional. That's key that he stressed through there. But he did through, you know, accidental actions, improve the conditions of the stroke that he was going to play. So he's assessed two stroke penalty. And he eventually accepted, signed a scorecard, and went back out to practice where

he's still out at the range now. Joel Beal said Bryson's agent spoke to a few of us, said the RNA felt Bryson wasn't careful enough with where he stepped and that he improved his swing path. When asked if he's playing tomorrow, agent replied that we'll see if Bryson shows up. You got Smiley on Live from out there, like all shadowed out. I think that bottom-wise is it, Neil. I agree. Good Lord. Another KV tweet, Bryson's agent is saying, Bryson is 100% serious that he is not sure he will play tomorrow, plans to make the decision in the morning, quote, he's a lot of things. He's not a cheater, which,

end quote, which again, distracting from the ruling here, Bryson. Like, nobody said you're, the RNA has not said you're a cheater. All right. Like, you got penalized for something here. That is not me,

like you got penalized for breaking a rule here. That does not mean you can't show up. Like, you cannot walk away from, you will, you will never live this down if you refuse to play this out. Like that would be one of the all time moves in golf history. That's what I'm saying.

I think it's like, that's kind of what was hitting me during that Truman show moment is just, it's one of those like, oh, this is one of the formative moments of the next decade here. Even just threatening it is the most Bryson move you can possibly imagine. Man. Can't believe this is my life. I wasn't on last night. I did have some other thoughts just on Burkdale. Please, please. I just wrote down, God, it looks so

good in the late afternoon. Hayes to the point where watching golf today, I'm like squinting at the TV, almost the way that I would, you know, when you're out there in that setting, when it's that time of day, it's just, it's just popping for me on TV and like to the washed out browns with the shadows. And I don't know, the look of the Lynx golf just does it for me. So, you know, I can understand if people are like, oh, this isn't penal or enough or it's not, if it's not their type of golf, I get that. But it just, it is my shit. And I think even more so with Burkdale,

I just, when people are on dunes and creating that amphitheater, like the natural amphitheater really adds to the open for me. So I'm starting to almost realize that in real time. Like, you know, I like playing Hoy Lake being there. Doesn't really have the same impact without the natural amphitheater of playing through the dunes. So that's a big piece of it too. I think on that note, you know, the, I've just been thinking about this like with my own.

golf watching. I'm sure a lot of people who are watching now feel similarly, but there's always kind of one star of the week, right, whether that's like an actual player or the golf course or whatever. And I feel like for so much of my life, the star was Tiger Woods to the point where we kind of said this when we were in England, but to the point where Litham, Hoy Lake, Berkdale, all kind of like ran together for me. I had a really hard time setting him aside because it was much more just like, where's Tiger playing this week? Did he win or did he not win? What did he, what did he, do on 18, which, you know, who was he chasing, that kind of thing. I think with 2017 at Burkdale, it's obvious who the star was. I was pretty focused on that as the main story more than I was

like this strategic outcomes of the, you know, 13th pole or whatever. I feel like now we've just spent 10 years where we've just both through like a dearth of stars on the PJ tour and also through an interest in golf courses. I think we've got to this point where the courses are much, much, much more the star, and places like Burkdale have just risen exponentially in my book on this kind of like most recent lap around a bunch of these places. So that's what I walked away is like you,

you start seeing it in that afternoon light in the evenings and you're just like, it's, yeah, it's the star of the show. It's the thing for the week. And hopefully it's rising in a bunch of other people's books too because it's really good. The hard part is like, I've said this. All right, maybe the weakest course on the Rota is St. George's. And it's not a bad golf course.

Like, it's not a, it's not a, you know, that would be the best PGA championship venue. Like there's no bad ones. And like the second worst one is a different. I don't even know what the second one worst one is. Like they're, they're, the playing field's very level on terms of all these golf courses. Like they all have different great features that make them great and special. And I, I do not think there is one that doesn't deserve to host an open. Like that's the thing.

It's like they're all just really, really, really good venues. Neil, sorry, you have more. Well, I was going to say, I really like that both the par fives come at the end of the round, 14, like late, late in the round, I should say. I think this, this finish sets up, it sets up for a good finish. And then I think, I think, Kyle Porter may have written about this, but there, there are only two par fives, but there are other eagle opportunities out there. You know, you see it with the drive that Rory hit on nine, five would be the other obvious one. where it's like, okay, there's still some places where guys can make some big-ass decisions

and earlier in the round. And I think that's also fun. And if that leads to lower square, I feel like it can lead to some train wrecks too. So I don't know. And I've really enjoyed. I know that 15 is new. And that part three,

though, I'm really enjoying watching guys hit shots into there. Especially Tommy. Bernie the whole day in front of the biggest audience. It's been scenes. I just think that, yeah, 14 through 18 is going to be a good finish. I can almost like sense it.

Like I've been locked in on those approach shots on 14 and 17. And then 18 is just a real deal decision. Like the drive Bryson hit was unbelievable right down the shoot, man. And it's like that's a risk. And, you know, if you want to lay back, you still got to navigate these like pinball shoots to not run into those bunkers. So yeah, I'm fired up for the weekend. Seeing that on 17,

I don't know if they showed this. I hate to be World Feed guy, but I did have to rip cord. If I'm going to watch 12 hours of golf, man, I got to, I'm not watching the NBC anymore. I'm sorry, I can't do it.

I was watching the World Feed. And when Scotty teed off on 17, they showed that like, I don't know if it was a crane or a drone or what, but it was moving. And it was like, almost like panning the 17th fairway, showing how big the dunes were

and how small that fairway is and how fast his ball was running. I was like, man, this is, this is good as it gets. This is it. The crowd. People are cheering for Tommy.

Tommy had just birdied 15 and then gassed it on 16. It was just peak, peak stuff today for about an hour and a half. And the visual of the grandstands into 18 looks great with the Art Deccco Glovehouse. So they frame that up really nicely. So it just yet, I don't know, the images of the open definitely make you feel stuff. And then I keep thinking, I'm like, oh, man, it's like probably 5 p.m.

It's like, no, it's, you know, it's 2 p.m. You know, I think you're ahead of the game. It's a great feeling. So I'm fired up, baby. And then we get this theater, this, you know, no audio theater at the end of today. It's great. I'm going to go check it right now because I feel like I don't have ever done a pod where my heart rate has been this high. It's only 91 beats per minute right now.

I know he briefly went down the leaderboard, but I don't want, like, Cam Young has jumped off the page for me. Like, I feel like he's been, they showed a good amount of his golf. And every time he pops on the screen, it's like very loud. Like, whoa, he's hitting this shit out of the ball. Like, I saw him hit a drive into five on Thursday. It was like, damn, the ball seems to be coming out the exact window he's looking for. Three under today sitting T2.

Uh, we haven't mentioned his name yet. So I, call him out. Obviously, Sam Burns, you know, shot 62 today. We didn't really see much of it, but he's a mega threat. Shot 62. And I know like anybody who's following the tournament is very closely is probably up on this. But if you're not and you're just kind of peeking it at the end of the day, also it wasn't really supposed to be here, you know, like had very much planned on not playing the tournament. Hasn't played well at the open in the past. Doesn't like said this today that he doesn't really like Lynx golf all that much and was planning to just completely

take this one off because I think his wife's due date was. like today or yesterday or something, ended up having their second child like two weeks early. And his wife was like, yeah, go for it. You need to go play the Scottish Open, warm up and get ready to go. And just, I don't know, kind of a beware the freed up golfer. You know, I think Link's golf can do that to you a little bit too.

Especially for, yeah, he's like, I say this as much as I possibly can. But man, go watch him in person. He hits the shots. He should play Link's golf better than he has in his career. And hopefully this is the light bulb going on for him a little bit. And he closed with a 30. Yeah. Didn't, and part 14, but birdies on 10, 11, 13, and then 16, 17, and 18.

So just big, big kick to finish heading into the weekend. Yeah. And then I think just, you know, I don't want to skip too many names, but moving down the list, that group at minus four is, uh, it's burly lurking. It's great. Big time, man. There's some dudes down there, uh, including Tommy Ladd, uh, who, like as you said dege hit the shots today but scotty didn't his longest putty made the day was

eight feet three inches they said on it was the par putty made on 18 what was the farthest he hit it from the whole today about 15 feet like i mean it was just it was just nuts that's got to be really the worst he could have shot you imagine doing that for six hours out there is just constantly having birdie puts that you don't you don't make is it's got to be maddening it felt like 2023 scotty watching that today it was um Yeah, he's like, yeah, he's losing, obviously losing strokes with the putter and lost like two and a half today or something like that. Really in that stretch from 8, 9, 10, 11 is when it got really ugly of just like, dude, he had so many good shots in there and walked away with absolutely nothing. Yeah, there's three of those guys today.

It was like Scotty, Rom, and who else was I looking at? It was just those two. But, oh, Alex Fitzpatrick, all outside the 120 and putting today and still all kind of hanging around up there. Good bounce back from Ludwig as well at four under. So he's T-17. After T-C renounced him yesterday, we didn't get to that. Lowry's in the mix. T-17, Randy's boy, Shane.

But I guess, Randy, I don't know if you want to do this now or if you want to wait until Sunday or, you know, person going the other way. This brings me no pain. I am not co-signing your petition here. This is a you thing.

You did say that this was going to be kind of the last chance for Jordan Speath. I think we got our answer as far as his, his. status today. I don't know if you have anything you want to say on that front. Yeah, let's let's make, let's let's make this official. If I could ask you guys to take off your caps. I think that would provide some some respect. Jordan Speed, you know, it had to come to an end sometime, 32 years. I think what will be important is not to remember how it ended, but to celebrate how we got here, so many good memories. You know, who can forget the precocious young man that charmed Augusta, right?

Record setting to win his first masters. I certainly know getting to tweet at Craig Kessler was a highlight of my career, really. I thank him for that. It just is, I want to focus on the good and the positive and the lasting impressions that Jordan has left us with. I hate that his time with us has been cut short. the putty made in 2015 at the Open Championship on the 16th hole when he was trying to chase down the group that ended up in the playoff. He would proceed to bogey the 17th hole and failed a birdie 18 and missed the playoff by one shot. But the put he made from about 50 feet on the 16th green to tie the lead at the time

and look like he was going to win the Grand Slam. That was a moment I will never forget. I was on a train. I left St. Andrews that morning, went back to Amsterdam, was on a train in Amsterdam. Nobody else watching on their phone. I leapt and I screamed on this train when he made that put.

And I will always remember that. But unlike D.J., I will participate today because I 77 tied David Duvall this week. That's inflated. It's inflated. He refused to have people look for his ball on 17. Yeah, it's usually a sign of things about ready to turn around. It should have been three, four shots better than that. But he was trying to keep pace of playoff.
