Be the right club today.
That's better than most.
How about him?
That is better than most.
Better than most.
Ladies and gentlemen,
welcome back to the Nolenga podcast.
My name is DJ joined by my guy,
Sully from what looks like Terminal A at the terminal,
terminal C maybe at the Jacks Airport.
Where are we at?
Oh, Terminal C, of course,
because you got dick down.
I'm having maybe the toughest American Airlines day I've had, which look, it happens.
Once in like six years, this is going to be a very tough one.
Long, yeah, weird, weird day.
We are a bunch of us of traveling over the Netherlands for the Solheim Cup.
We weren't going to really be able to watch the end of the Walker Cup and get somewhere to be able to record if our flights went as scheduled.
That did not happen.
Lucky for us.
We changed plans, did a segment on it this morning.
Like, ah, all right, well, the U.S. swept the morning.
Like, let's just, let's do the whole thing now.
Like, the U.S. is going to win.
Now are rechanging back to do an airport pod.
Airport top up.
The rest of the podcast here in a few minutes is going to be a pre-recorded thing.
But we needed to completely redo the Walker Cup stuff because that was one of the great days of viewing we've had in quite some time.
Yeah.
And we are, we're going to get into it.
There's a lot, a lot to get into from the Walker Cup at LaHinch.
But we are brought to you today, as always by our friends.
at Titleist, the number one ball in golf, and the overwhelming number one ball at the Walker Cup.
15 players across the U.S. and the GBNI teams teed up a ProV-1, ProV1X golf ball,
including the top amateur Preston Stout, and nine of the top 10 ranked players competing at LaHinch.
There were also more titleless drivers, more sets of titles, irons, more Voki wedges,
and more Scotty Cameron Putters in play this weekend at the Walker Cup than any other brand.
visit tidalist.com to find a fitting near you.
TC is on the horn as well.
Got to be absolutely beaming his GV&I squad.
Got it done at La Hinch.
Are you more excited?
Are you more excited about GB&I winning or me getting dick down by American?
Which one has you more excited?
It's probably a tie,
Sully.
This is just a magical afternoon.
Like Sally said, we kind of, you know,
we saw the U.S. sweep the morning.
We kind of like,
they're going to go run off and yada,
yada yada will we can talk big picture about lehinch and what it means to have the walker cup and the
game of golf wins again i don't think we knew how how much the game of golf was going to win by
because that turned into like one of the best golf watching afternoons of the year i think i mean
were you guys are you guys watching on the way to the airport what were you what were you doing
i was watching on the flight yeah yeah i've been on in delays i was on the phone with america
for 35 minutes during the most exciting stretch so i did have some of it on without sound which
might be an upgrade from no to baguay trying to tell us what's going on out there but i mean it was
just like it was i like weirdly for i'm pretty detached from the result of this thing like i will
not get emotionally upset about the u.s winning this losing this on like the rider cup and it was
it was so surreal to just like watch it like you could see the car crash coming from six steps
ahead and not feel anything about it not be stressed about it i'm just like oh this is how
it happens oh they got to make all right they got to get all right you got to get this pot to the
hole nope that's short all right we got to
to get this put to the hole. Nope, that's short. All right, well, Miles Russell's got to make this one.
Kind of haven't seen the guy make a big put in all the golf I've watched in play for basically this entire summer.
That one didn't go in. All right, well, they need a miraculous bunker shot from about 45 yards here.
Get this up and down to actually steal. Oh, my God, they pulled it off.
Every time their backsw up against the wall, the odds were not in their favor.
It completely went GBI's way in front of an awesome crowd and just an absolutely stoked environment.
But in the pre-recorded part we did, we just talked about how Stu, how sick Stu was.
Stu had a pretty tough gag there at the end, like really needed that point pretty bad.
That ends up costing them, the Walker Cup.
It was, you like it when sports are going to completely flip the expectation on its head.
And I've never seen the Everything app as enthused about a golf event as they were this one.
Yeah, just, I mean, all the above, Sally, when Randy and I say we see a path to victory,
this is what we're talking about.
Okay.
You just got to believe.
And I know the stats,
the stats don't back it up,
but sometimes magic happens.
And that's why they play the games.
Exactly.
That's why they play the games,
T.C.
First G.
Jimmy and I victory since 2015.
Hold on.
Hold on.
You were equally culpable in the whole part we recorded earlier about GBI losing.
You did that whole thing.
Oh, I was. And they've got,
I mean,
green hands,
a reinstated amateur.
That's the same thing, that whole thing.
Yeah, I mean, but you know, sports, man.
Sports.
If you did not watch a ton of the Walker Cup,
G.B. and I took a one point lead, I believe, into the final day.
Of course, the Walker Cup is just Saturday and Sunday.
It's a foursome session in the morning, singles in the afternoon.
They had a one point lead after the first two sessions or after the first day.
And then got absolutely swept first thing this morning in the American foursums.
It was four matches, four American points, three point lead going into the singles.
It is, I mean, it's a massive comeback, but singles, there's fewer singles matches than in the Ryder Cup.
It's even harder to flip a three point advantage.
There's less points on the board.
It's just a, it's a kind of miraculous victory.
And G.B. and I came out hot right out of the gates.
Jack Whaley, absolute drumming of T.C.'s guy, Williams, Jenning, Brian.
Eight and seven victory there.
I think one of the biggest margins of victory we've seen at a Walker Cup.
They won the first four matches until Nile, Schills, Donigan,
halved his with Akina, which was an awesome match.
Stu Haggistead.
Nile may have gotten just a little tiny bit ground on 16, part three,
and one hop scooter over the green side bunker right to like a perfect spot.
I ended up winning that hole.
Yeah, you mentioned it, Sally, but Stu Haggastad was chasing trying to flip that one.
strange driver off the deck on 18
from him kind of put he was trying to force it up there
trying to make a birdie
put himself out of position
wasn't able to to get a half there
he had a great putt man that was such a good put
like I that had to look so good
his eye from about 35 feet
I can't believe you're sitting in the in the terminal
where else am I supposed to go we don't have lounges
man where are you going to go
oh it's so tough
It's so tough. Miles, Miles Russell, you kind of mentioned it, Sally, a couple good looks coming down the stretch. He had a nasty bunker shot on what was that 15, 14 that almost went in. But man, a couple puts when you had to have them just kind of low side lobs, just like not not great looks and ends up having that match with Connor Graham. Production kind of slipped there. We needed a most had no idea. You know,
I don't think you ever want to hear him say like, which granted, look, it's windy, it's rainy.
It's probably not the A team that's over there.
Who knows what ends up happening, you know, behind the scenes there.
But it's just I felt I felt for Paul McGinley and Noda as they're just like, I don't know, man, if that's his second shot.
This is going to be crazy.
And it was his second shot just over the green there at 18.
And yeah, Connor Graham playing his third Walker Cup with just a.
massive put to snake a half point there at the end and it all comes down to the josh hill tyler watson
ralts match tyler wats blows it a mile left uh into some gnarly rough on 18 it's kind of a clunky
second shot watts forces up there into the green side bunker and hits just a grotesque bunker shot
with the walker cup on the line leaves himself like three feet hands are shaking the entire country of ireland
seemingly just like circling not watts hill
Sorry, sorry, sorry.
Josh Hill, yes, playing against Tyler Watts.
Josh Hill hits a green side bunker shot, hits it up there to three feet.
The whole home crowd just circling that 18th green.
And he just cashes it, man.
And GB and I wins for the first time in what, 12 years, something like that, which, you know,
we're talking about it this morning, Sally.
And it's like, man, why do they keep playing?
Why do they keep playing this match like this?
Why don't they add Europe?
Why is it so lopsides?
Like, because sometimes you fucking win, man.
And sometimes, sometimes you get it done.
just means all that much more i'm just i don't know i'm beaming i don't have a whole heck of a tie to
this event other than going in 2023 and 2025 and i was just i was completely glued to the tv
watching that finish today it's that's why you watch golf man that's that's pretty much the
purest expression of the game i think we've seen this year it just it ruled and josh hill last
guy on the team too yeah like got picked after a scouting trip he just bawled out in the scouting
trip and like wasn't unlikely you know that's why that's why you get him on the team right
that's right you got an eye test yeah there's something about the team matchplay stuff too that just
is like it's so much more complicated with two hours to go than like a stroke play tournament is it's
like you're like look at the board and you're like okay well okay well he's got four holes left and
he's two down so they need to flip two of these and you're just like watching all of this cascade
and play out there's just so many more variables that makes it like you could you could in theory pick up a
major with like an hour and a half of it to go and kind of get the idea of the tournament.
And you can't really do that with team matchplay stuff, man.
It's just totally, it totally flips the excitement on its head, makes it way more balanced
and less just about the actual finish because some truly important finishing moments happened
two hours before the final match is finished.
How those early matches are decided, Preston Stout, getting beat twice by Stuart Graham was,
you know, I mean, that's the difference in the Walker Cup right then and there.
Number one amateur in the world got beat, got beat twice by a 33-year-old.
Former pro on TC side.
Yeah.
You got a shout out Luke Polter also winning a singles match yesterday and then stepping up
just nails on 17 hits an awesome shot in there.
It's just I know it's such an easy comp.
I know it's so easy.
I know we're flashing to the shots of Ian Polter.
But dude, it's really cool.
It's really cool, man.
of all the people in the world to be like,
oh, that guy's son.
Stepping up and being a killer and,
like, team matchplay, that's sick.
I'm watching, I see blue on the board.
I'm watching shots coming in,
and it says polter on the screen.
It's September.
And I'm like, dude, I thought we were done with this.
I thought I didn't have to live this anymore.
I thought we were over this.
Not so much.
Not so much.
Euro is my need to get them on the team.
Why not?
Why not?
There's something, too, like this falling on this weekend with no NFL.
And like this having the sports day almost to itself and going to a such a cool venue.
I mean, we talked about this last year when we went to Cyprus about what, you know,
we say this every time an event goes to a very cool venue.
It's like venues matter, man.
Like that connectivity to the town that LaHinch has and the connectivity has to the people
and the support that was felt there on the ground,
the noise that was made there on the ground,
the partisan nature of all of that,
the cool walks between the pubs and the golf course.
just having golf feel it like connected to a city like cypress is a sick venue complete polar
opposite vibe in terms of like the welcoming nature of of the club and and things like that but it
it just it gets you really warm and fuzzy about this event and the the i don't want to say glow up
the heater that it's on right now of like the future venues it's going to to like now
becoming one of the like the best tv golf weekends of the year and they had the hours of coverage
to match it. I mean, waking up to this
both Saturday and Sunday and having golf on your TV
that was super meaningful was just
a great, great, great,
great cap. You know,
the PJ tour season's over, but this was such a bonus.
Now we're right in the Solheim Cup, President's Cup season.
It's just a great start to the month of September.
It's fun too with LaHinch,
just because so many people have
taken Ireland trips and have
played those golf holes. I mean, Cyprus
is great. Obviously, it's
one of the greatest golf courses on planet
earth. Not everybody gets to play there.
you know so you kind of know the holes a little bit but but there's probably more people watching
that are excited to watch because they've played the klomdyke or they've played the dell or they've
they've seen some of these holes or at least like have a buddy that took that trip and is
explaining it to him or whatever and it's just i don't know it just yeah venues matter so it's
it's it's just awesome to see really high level golf and also kind of a um a college kickers
sort of uh sort of element to to this tournament to this tournament to
two or it's like yeah those guys are nervous those guys are not crazy seasoned professionals they have
the top end game of yeah scovin scovin score for tc they have the top end game they have the
185 190 mile an hour ball speed uh but they still get really nervous in in events like this and that
just it makes for captivating tv because i think you can you can you can twist yourself into
and I think we did this after Cyprus,
you can twist yourself into like,
ah,
the results,
the results,
you know,
yeah,
the US wins every time and whatever.
What are you going to do?
You know,
it's really just about the game of golf and,
and the kind of,
it's alumni weekend and it's,
it's the boys coming over from Oakmont to go watch the next generation.
And it's like,
well,
it is better when it's close.
You know,
and when you see it like this,
it can be a legit TV product,
you know,
albeit one probably for the,
for the real six sickos.
But I mean,
we're going to Bandon Dunes next time.
They're going to princes after that.
Oakmont.
Like there's just,
it's just going to keep,
I think,
keep this run going.
It's a ton of awesome momentum for the Walker Cup.
The only thing it needed,
the only thing it needed was a G.B.
and I victory,
and we got it today against all odds in the most dramatic fashion possible.
It's just such a dub for everybody.
Maybe we can get Luke Clanton on the squad next time.
He hasn't had that many starts.
Hasn't made that much money yet.
Nick Dunlap, bring him back in.
Yeah, exactly.
The serge maybe.
I love it.
I love it.
That's when we'll know it's a real sport when we start really pushing the line of some of these ethical things.
How far can we push it?
Get them reinstated and then get them on the team within, say, seven or eight months after the reestablished.
Just what the Walker Cup is all about.
Do you want to say, you want to say more on this?
We just want to dance up to the line.
We got more later in the pod on the, on the reinstated AM part.
I don't know if you want to say that about Greahad.
I did not realize Greene won the British A& this summer.
And that's on me.
But that was that one was just like, ah, God, come on, guys.
As is happening.
I want to shout out.
I want to shout out Connor Graham,
who flashed a lot of dog mentality at Cyprus last year.
And he's just a total, total bulldog.
He was nine under.
today on on eight holes now granted he didn't make a par on the last 10 holes but go to his scorecard
he went from nine on where he went birdie boge bogey birdie birdie birdie burdy bogey birdie
birdie against mild russle and in just gnarly rainy windy conditions too which which again i think
maybe i'm it's just top of mind all the pj tour changes and all of the
you know all of the um kind of restructuring of the postseason and tour championship and all that but
these guys made so many fucking birdies this week at this golf course didn't care at all it was it was
so fun to watch in match play it comes a feature yeah it was it just didn't bother me you're playing
offense like like there's no there's less downside risk i mean he and like going back to graham
he he won the klondike with an eagle the eagle birdie there like he was sick that's that's why i want to watch
Yeah, I thought about that of like, all right, the reason why in stroke play, super easy golf courses, it has nothing to do with the actual score.
It's just kind of like, all right, over the next 12 holes, you should birdie five of them.
And when you do it and how you do it, doesn't really matter.
And if you don't do it, it's probably just a par and it just kind of evens everything out.
But in match play, it's like, well, the guy you played made a birdie, so you better make a birdie or you lost the hole.
Like, and it's a completely, and it can even out to the exact same thing.
if nobody ever wins a hole by more than one shot in that, right?
But it's just, it gives an immediacy to every, like, 15-foot birdie putt of, like, this,
this means you win the hole or you don't versus like, ah, mathematically strong play.
You're probably not going to make that.
Like, well, it just, it completely flips the excitement level.
That's where, like, I think the matchplay stuff has been viewed through the wrong lens.
Like, what if you get a bad final?
It's like, well, what if you get a ton of great matchplay golf on before the final?
Like, what?
It just, let's, let's find out.
Let's find out.
The birdie fest in stroke play feel like you're watching like one of those World Cup shootouts with no goalie.
And the match play is like, oh, now there's a goalie.
Like now there's like consequence.
You know, it's not just somebody kicking from 20, 20 yards away.
It's, it's actual stakes to it.
Yeah, exactly.
Who else?
Who else you guys want to shout out from the week at large?
I want to shout out Ryder Cowan.
So fun to watch.
Ryder's dude.
He's, he's a red blooded American.
American straight up.
He was,
there you go, yeah.
Charles.
Songs about the good stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah, man,
he is,
he is magnetic to watch.
It was really,
really,
really,
really fun.
Put me,
I was saying,
put,
like,
sign me up for watching
that guy go
win the travelers
against like some
PGA Tour
Academy types,
you know,
it's just like,
I'm down for that.
You kind of find out
pretty quickly in these,
like who what you're you know you can have some preconceived notions of guys what you think of
somebody what you what you want somebody to be and in this event where we don't have a lot of like
history with a lot of these guys when they come on the screen quickly it's like all right well what's
what's about to happen what are we what are we going to get every time they flashed a cow and
I'm like I think he's going to make this eight foot if it's outside the hole and every
when they're like I just don't think he's going to make this I don't and a lot of the us team
I'm like I just don't think you're going to make this every time it flashed a cow and it was like
dude I think I think I can count on you here and he delivered
ever every single time it felt like he came on the screen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think him,
I think,
gosh,
I mean,
I don't know,
I'm kind of bummed Stu.
Didn't get it.
I know.
I know,
man.
What's it been six Walker Cups?
Now I think he's like,
his singles record is like,
I think he's played nine matches or something and won eight of them before today.
Or I guess still,
now he's played 10 and one eight of them.
He's only lost twice.
And it's,
I know he gets a lot of a lot of shit.
I know he's kind of an avatar for the,
are these guys amateurs or are they not amateurs?
I get it, man.
Still has to go hit the shots.
And he still has played really good in these tournaments.
And he,
he tends to do it with a smile.
I saw him behind the scenes at St. Andrews,
even like up close,
mics on, mics off, cameras on, cameras off.
Same guy.
Just like very earnestly trying to mentor people,
trying to get him ready for it,
trying to make sure they get the most out of their opportunity and the most out of their experience.
He's got good context on like what it means and how guys are going to view it.
Did you see that USGA thing this week that like they.
About him naming all the his past.
Yeah.
Even every guy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then like him talking about tying certain guys ties.
Yeah.
Which we got to do that like go watch.
If you haven't watched it if you're if you're Jones for more Walker Cup stuff on our YouTube channel.
We did a week in the life with the 2023 team.
And being in there for that scenes, like one of the most memorable things we've ever shot where, like, you do realize very quickly, like, yeah, these guys, like I said, they have 190 ball speed.
But they also don't know how to tie ties.
Like, they're little kids.
It's crazy to see it.
And it just is such a unique event in that regard because you see them playing this crazy high level golf on crazy historic venues just before they've kind of turned into the tour pros that they're all trying to be.
you know it's such a it's such a cool event and and like i said i'm just i'm just so uh kind of over the moon
that they got a result like this because i think it just makes it even more fun when we go to
fucking band and dunes next time like it's just it's gonna be it's gonna be great it's all they got
play it every year man you know cool event and it's kind of graduated from hipster status this is a
cool event that just like now i can't everybody just golf it just watch it right it's not it's not
it's not you should the coverage has evolved of this one as well i think and this is we're seeing
the payoffs too of like going to increasingly good venues and kind of fox's treatment of it
wasn't nearly i mean i don't even remember i think there wasn't there wasn't there controversy they
weren't even airing the european version of this one and so now it's like you know we went from
seminal to old course to to cypress now to a hinge and now to abandon it's like it um
i feel like the interest is starting is catching up to all of this and it feels like uh there's just a
very genuine genuine buzz around it so congrats to
everyone involved. It's good for the professional ecosystem, right? You want to
totally make names of these guys and you know like PGA Toru for all its good
stuff like there's there's not a lot of times that you can actually watch these guys
play college golf other than the NCAA championships and maybe you know the
the Western intercollegiate and a couple others but this is like everybody's got
the context for these golf courses and everything I think Hoylake was the one that
that Fox didn't
I think that's right
yeah
yeah but um
I don't know I was
I don't know what the thing about Preston Stout
I've heard so much about
just how freaking good this guy is
he's world number one amateur and all that
and I'm not loving the pace of play
at all he's exceptionally slow
and yeah just you know
didn't he just got got beat
several times
this week.
He's either producers are going to have to do him a favor and show his shots on tape,
but you got to play really good golf to be shown live anyways and not shown on tape.
So he's got to have to be a little bit,
a little bit better than that to begin with.
But that's a,
the,
I mean,
I feel like I could hear my own pulse in my ears with a silence that was just,
like,
you know,
I just would say what they had already,
you were ready to say before he'd hit.
And then it would just be a dead ass silence like 12 seconds before he pulled
the trigger. And man, that is golf fans.
We've learned what that is not going to go over
well. Like that's really, really, really not going to go
over well with people. And you got to get that
figured out before you get to the big leagues.
Yeah. I like
it doesn't happen all the time,
but it is, you know, put your reinstated
AM stuff to the side.
It is fun when the same
the same dudes get matched up over and over.
I mean, Preston Stout played, played Stuart Grean
in every session this week.
They have the first four ball
match. Greenin beat him one up.
in Saturday singles.
Stout and Ethan Fang won the four ball match this morning,
and then Green beat him again in singles this afternoon.
It's just that's kind of a fun wrinkle of these events.
I was a little bummed to see my guy, Ryder Cowan,
have to take a seat for singles on Saturday.
Yeah.
A little strange.
Yeah.
I'm sure there's a reason.
I don't follow it closely enough to know what it would be,
but yeah, that was a little weird.
probably to get to the CMA Awards or something like that.
It might have.
Maybe it wasn't his contract.
He's only doing a 90-minute set.
Well, what do you think, guys?
Should we wrap it there, move to the rest of the program?
Yeah, I would say, congrats to the USDA and R&A for putting on another great event.
Speaking of the USGA, you can experience all four rounds of the 2027 U.S. Open with a limited time championship round ticket package.
You can enjoy one ticket for each championship round Thursday to Sunday.
plus a $50 food and beverage loaded value bonus each day.
Those are available with both gallery and trophy club ticket packages.
Experience four days of world-class golf up close.
This limited time offer will not last.
It will go to USopin.com slash tickets and secure your spot today.
Thank you for putting up with me here in the airport here at the gate.
It's still got two and a half hours before we take off.
But to the rest of the pre-recorded program, we'll get to that now.
Thank you for tuning in.
Thanks for hopping back on with me, gentlemen.
Good luck, Sally.
Salli, signing off from Concourse C.
Listen to the rest of the recording,
how much more lively his voice is before he was just his soul sucked out of his body.
All right, bye.
This seems like a while ago, of course, now, as it tends to happen,
as we record this on a Sunday,
but the team USA finalized, team USA and the international, excuse me,
finalized their captain's picks for the up.
coming Presidents' Cup.
The captain's picks include on the U.S.
side, Chris Goderup, Justin Thomas,
Patrick Cantley, Zander Shoffley,
Jacob Bridgman, and Jackson Coyven.
T.C. of those six picks,
what stands out the most? What's the most newsworthy
item of those six?
Chris Goderup's social
and social media.
I said to see you guys the other day.
Gotta celebrate the PJ Tour
ripping every piece of copyrighted
material that's ever been produced.
and just putting it into
their produced players, social media
posts like this.
NFL. Yeah.
Movies, songs,
anything that's ever been copyrighted.
We will rip that off.
Give it to our players.
Fair use, baby.
If you take a still of one photo of ours,
we're going to put you in the fucking Hague
is just a good, yeah,
it's a good vibe.
But yes, I am with you, T.C.
He's doing amazing things on social media.
DJ, we are actually going to the Hague later this week.
we're going to try to resolve this.
I think it must be why it's in my mind.
Yeah.
Yeah,
I'm trying to get some of our old posts back, man.
Try to try to break him out.
I'm going to scope out of place for Nick Krawl at the Hague this week.
I think so.
For the uninitiated that that's the Reds general manager.
For now.
Business operations.
Yeah, we're recording this early as of now.
He's the GM.
Any update on that Twitter account that people thought was him?
I actually, yeah, I do.
It was actually solid.
Yeah.
It turns out I might know the guy that is running it.
Really?
So yeah.
Yeah.
People thought he had a burner and he was like defending himself on Twitter against bad.
I was going to say bad moves, but no moves at the deadline.
I guess we probably don't have to get too deep into it.
It was a same move to create a Devers.
To create a burner that like create an account, a parody account that like looks like a burner.
It's like all the.
Three levels deep.
Yeah, it's great.
It is a really good move.
Really good move.
I have some other ideas.
If we want to get crawl fired, I have some other ideas.
Reach out to me.
No, I think, I mean, I was glad to see him pick, pick Coivin.
I think Bridgman, I like the Bridgman pick personally.
Like, I think Gerard and Bridgman should have been on the team personally.
I don't think you need to bring Cantlay along.
Like, you know what you're getting.
I don't think he's undeserving.
But at the same time, like, I don't think the President's Cup is, you know, the most serious event in golf.
like let's put some let's put some some some money in the bank here for for a future thing i mean
maybe maybe gerard turns out to be an absolute dog right and you know that and that's one more
asset you have at your disposal so yeah i could have left j t or or can't lay at home but jt is like
feels like kind of the heart and soul of these teams so i feel like you bring him along you know he'll be
you know, kind of ready to rock.
And, and yeah, coiffin, it seems like, you know, I'm proud of, proud of Sneds.
They did it, man.
Sticking his neck out a little bit.
They did it.
We rocked him.
Yeah, it's a fun one.
It feels like, it feels like there's some balance to it.
You know, it's like we did actually push the envelope, not in the way that, you know,
it's a bit like politics, right?
T.C., you got to, you got to just push it as far as you can, one direction and then hope that you just kind of land a little bit on your side of the ball.
That's kind of where it wound up here.
It's like, yeah, of course, we listen, we can't break the system.
We are going to take JT and KLA, but we can, we can branch out.
We can take Coyvin.
We can take a great putter like Bridgman.
You know, we're not taking Gerard and Akshay and all these other guys too, but like we can,
we can have a little bit of fun.
And it feels like, yeah, in the past, maybe this, this, it would just look safer and
older.
And I think Sned's is, I don't know.
I don't know if there seems like there's so much uncertainty on the Rider Cup side of things.
I don't know if he is a point being who knows who a future captain is going to be,
who a future Luke Donald type figure could be.
Like I don't, I'm sure he's angling for something like that.
He can't just like blow up the the job interview by doing something totally outrageous.
But he can push it a little bit.
I got to think the Bridgman thing, Sully is like,
when you start looking at like a tiebreaker, Bridgman and Gerard,
I assume it was kind of the last coin flip.
I mean,
that just seems like it probably comes back to
matchups or pairings or something, right?
Like it just doesn't feel,
it feels like Gerard is stronger on paper,
more of a traditional, like, in years past,
we would have taken this guy
because he's kind of hot right now.
Whereas Bridgman is,
yeah,
it just seems like more he was picked for traits
or picked for kind of a reason.
I don't know if that's your read.
Yeah, this is the, you know,
the kind of awkward period before we see what the plan rollout is where you got to kind of
I don't know do you have to do this because I've tricked myself and do it you have to assume they
have a plan you have to give respect to the process and have to think they've thought through how
they want to pair them and what attributes he has that match up with the golf course and things of
that nature so again I'm going to do that I'm going to say like yeah you probably thought about
this to a level of detail that we have the public and access to information that we have the
public don't have down to, you know, hopefully how Team Europe is doing it.
What your proximity is to left pins versus right pins and dog leg left holes and dog leg right
holes and what holds you to be teeing off on and force them.
How you match up in four ball?
What holes are you good at?
How can we match you up with somebody who's got a different skill set?
If you're a really good par four player, maybe we match you up with somebody who's a great
part five player.
Wait, are you saying that they weren't doing this before?
Maybe not.
Now, I'm willing to, I'm willing to entertain the idea that they weren't.
Stats wise.
Yeah.
I'm willing to entertain the thought that they, uh, is J.
Ray working with a presidents cup team too?
I don't, he is.
He is.
Okay.
And he's doing Solheim Cup.
Uh, yeah, as a busy month.
So, yeah.
It also, as you're, as you're saying all that and you're running through all the past U.S. things,
it also could be a like, yeah, listen, these guys just made more puts.
We need to have bridge, but other team.
As you're saying that, I'm like, oh, actually, it might just be that.
Damn, I will say.
You're right.
We got to get Bridgman.
We got to get Bridgman.
We got to get Bridgman.
He makes all the puns.
Like, he finished the season pretty strong.
I think he was, he was top five at East Lake.
He, like, he played pretty well at BMW.
He's also first on tour in par four birdie average, which I think feels pretty, pretty
useful.
Yep.
In, uh, in this sort of format.
So I think that that's kind of jumping off the page.
But yeah, I don't know.
I mean, even like, I think it's going to be the kind of course where it's going to be fun to watch JT play it.
I know they've got three rookies on the team as it is with Goddera, Bridgman, Coyvin.
Coivin should be a great fit for this place as well.
But man, like looking at JT's results, like hasn't had a top 10 since the PGA.
It's kind of like, hey, like, why don't you be an ass captain with us this year?
You're still in the team room.
Let's get Gerard on.
I feel like,
I feel like Gerard played his way on the team.
And that's,
that's the one kind of sour taste to my mouth, I guess.
I don't,
I don't either.
I mean,
the default thing here,
10, 3 and 2 in President's Cups and a solid writer cup record.
That's the answer.
Totally.
As to why,
right?
And it,
it is boring.
Yeah.
At this point,
it's like,
I rode really hard for him in 2023 when it was like,
dude there's not a path without that guy right i don't see what it is he is your match played dog he went
head to head with rory in in france like we we've seen what he did he was like the dude in france
on a way rider cup and i don't know how you go back to rome without that guy uh i think that would
have should have not paired him with spith who had just had a kid and played absolutely awful
in that rider cup and they were a terrible terrible team and that could have gone to jd didn't play
well either but that could have gone differently and now it's like all right we're looking at
three three-ish years a little a nice little stretch in one of those years we're a nice spring one
heritage but it just hasn't been the same dude like really hasn't to the point where i'm like
you could have i did not know what they were going to do and i i wouldn't i don't care enough
about the president's cup to truly ride one way or another i would have been fine with fresh
blood and i think in a different year that could have happened honestly i do gerard played good
enough to justify a pick he didn't beat the door down to the point where it's like how the hell are you not
taking this guy. He beat the doordown pretty good. I mean, and he's he's over in Switzerland this
week playing. I know. Guy just wants to play. I mean, he finished third of the tour championship. He was
top 10 at the open. He was, he lost in a playoff at the memorial. I mean, he had a hell of a year.
He had a great year. He had an absolutely great year. But I mean, last four events, missed the cut at
Wyndham T-24 in a 70-person event at St. Jude, T-16 and a 50-person third at the tour champion.
Like, that's good golf.
Third with a bad final round at the tour champion.
Yeah, it's good golf, but it is not like, like Horshal sprinting through the door in 2014
and not getting, you know, it being too late to get a writer-cut pick.
Like, it's not, it's just not that level, right?
I mean, it's seven top tens.
I'm aware he played good.
He's good.
I would have loved him on the team.
I probably on the surface.
would have taken him over Bridgman but you gotta make those puts man you just got it you got to
you got to make those puts and then i think i'll do this so you don't so you don't have to first
all i think there's a big difference between can't lay and jtie i think it's it's going to be very
easy to lump those two together when you look at these captain's picks can't lay's played
a lot better a lot better than jt i think he's the security blanket for zander you know what you're
going to get just probably like an extremely high floor with him when you do start looking at this
strokes gain stuff over the last six months.
JT plus 1.11,
Bridgman plus 1.12,
Gerard plus 1.17.
And it's kind of like,
they've all kind of been about
about the same as far as just like getting the ball in the hole.
Golf wise.
So if you want to use the whatever you said,
10 3 and 1 as a JT tiebreaker,
I'm like, I do, I do get it.
It's a gut.
It's a gut call.
I guess.
I'm like, do you want to use that as the tiebreaker?
Do you want to try to invest in new blood when you're already kind of doing that?
You know, with you've got Goderup.
You've got, you've got, you've got Coyvin.
You've got some of these other guys.
It's, I understand, understand both sides.
I see how they got there.
See, and I would have been fine with Gerard thing.
So it's, it's kind of a, I don't know.
Here's the twist.
Here's the twist on that.
Like, invest in the future line.
The invest in the future might be JT.
Like if you had to bet between the two who is more likely to be at a dare manner on the team,
like the answer is probably JT for a variety of reasons and like him being involved in the process.
Ryan George has been the hottest player in the world for four years.
Of course.
If you had a bet right now who is more likely to be on the team and you're making a face stage,
but like who's more likely to be on the team at a dare manner?
No.
Yeah.
You're right.
I just that, yeah.
Some of these guys fall off cliffs, man.
I don't know if J.T. is going to be that, but it doesn't last forever.
And Gerard could too, is my point.
Like, it's an odd year.
Or, you know, it's an even year now.
Next year's an odd year.
And like, watch out.
Look how far Cameron Young fell by the end of this year.
Like, it just, it doesn't last forever.
He's playing very good golf and getting an absolute ton out of his career.
And I'm definitely rooting for Gerard.
But it's not which started back.
really interesting. Roll it back out. Roll it back out next year. We'll see. I mean, maybe J.T. has a little
bounce back. Like, I feel better about JT. bounce back that I do speed at this point. Like, I'm not
going to make that speech right now. But sure. God, speed would have been so good at Medina.
I know. Just the hectic golf. Solly, looking at the standings. All right, a couple of things
stick out there. A, like, Can't Lay, probably the best, like one of the top three iron players in the
world statistically. He sees a really good fit for this with regard to approach play. He can't
put anymore, which is kind of crazy. I'm liking the fact that they didn't just go straight down
the rankings. Like Ben Griffin was eighth. J.J. Spawn was 10th. And they skipped right over those guys.
It's also weird that like Gerard is not even in the top 15 as far as the standings go.
Yeah.
Which doesn't seem like it, like it, is it not weighted more towards, uh, recent results or
or 2026 results?
It's just like a smoothed out FedEx Cup points.
A smooth.
Yeah.
It's horrible.
Like that, yeah, I hate the points list all at everywhere.
Like, it just is bad.
Like you just don't, it's not identifying the best golfers.
At least it's, at least it's six captains picks now.
Like, it would take.
a lot for somebody to qualify that that is like that shouldn't be there right but it's not impossible
like they almost had it happen with griffin and um and hopefully that's the wake-up call they need to get
this system right because it's it's don't love it which i mean and then another thing is is
should zander be on the team yeah i think so yeah and a great year anyone that like
has been a top 12 U.S. player over the last three months, six months, 12 months, 24 months,
has made a very strong case to be on the team, right?
It's not just a trending hand.
And we can do this with players that have had better peaks.
You know, when they're not playing their best, say, should they even be, like, you know,
it's an unsexy name when they're not playing their best,
but they're still like a much better player than a lot of other guys.
But yeah, Zander's been.
He's like the 10th best American over the last three months.
He's the sixth best American over the last six months.
He's the second best American over the last year.
Yeah.
If Cantley is going to be on the team, then you have to.
I think that one's an index fund, man.
You just kind of roll that one out there and get your 7%.
They already set up a special part of the team room for those two guys.
So, yeah, they kind of need a team room.
They're going to be up in the little minaret of it.
Exactly.
Which, by the way, Sally and I talked to cocking, Mike Cocking, who is the future.
And the future might be now as well.
And gosh, I am amped up for it's going to be such a good venue.
Stoked.
Yeah, that podcast will be out the two, around the 15th, I think is the Tuesday.
I'm sure the whatever the next Tuesday is after the Solheim Cup.
We will have an interview with Mike Cocking talking through Medina.
And yeah, it'll get, it'll get pretty amped for this event.
We could have done four hours with him.
I feel like we just scratched the surface.
Now, and I'm saying that I'm excited for the President's Cup
before we get to talking about the international team,
because it gets pretty bleak.
Do you want to go there now?
Yeah.
Super quick.
On the Coivin thing, I think it is,
I'm just glad to see a,
and it's an obvious,
I think it's a pretty obvious play.
And, yes, it is throwing strokes gained out the window.
It is throwing record out the window,
but it is recognition of talent.
It is recognition that, yeah,
you only played a few months here on the PJ tour.
You won an event.
You have an absolutely sterling amateur record
that we're counting here.
And like that I would have to think
there has to be some pretty serious buy-in
from the players on this part
to the point that gets me even more excited
of like, I would have to think
some guys are in Snedzi.
I'm sure he asked some players about it.
Like, what do you think of Coyvin?
What do you think of this?
And like, there's some game recognized game elements here
of like, let's get this guy on the,
team that is a great.
It's exciting.
It's exciting.
And I think it's a,
it's going to be an interesting thing to find out, right?
And it's going to be a huge,
huge moment for him.
I think watching the Walker Cup last year was like a,
you know,
I think we talked about it on the pod last year.
Like, is he going to be on the president's cup at this team at this time next year?
And here we go.
So that's got me,
got me super stoked.
And for an entertainment event,
like,
well done.
Everyone involved,
PJ Tour,
team USA like good good good job this is a little pee in the potty like you did a good job you
should obviously have taken this guy but that's not always been the case and so this was good
i think this is going to be the last team event that doesn't have patrick read on it for for the
next five or six years so internationals here's your best chance they should have given pee to
the international team with his international schedule i think that that would have been a nice olive
branch but he was yeah he was pretty well positioned there in switzerland they made a double
the eighth hole
or five this morning. Not good.
So, but last thing I'll say
is that this becomes like a
common thing we'll say is like let's get these guys
in, get them experience
for future Rider Cups. But like I did
finally did a little research on this. I've been
threatening to do this for quite some time. Did finally
do a little research to say like
that is not how things work.
Like rookies, at least on the U.S. side
in the Rider Cup, going back to the early
90s, rookies are the only
class of player on the
the U.S. side that has a winning, a positive winning percentage over 50%. Every other, like,
it goes from 52% win rate as a rookie to 46 as a second rider cup, 44 as a third rider cup,
40 as a fourth rider cup, and then five or more, they have a 44% win percentage. So there's like no,
there's no evidence to say like, what's the source of that experience?
I mean, there's so much noise in that though. It could mean that like they're picking the wrong.
veterans time after time. They're right but rookies in better position to
succeed they're more cognizant of that. It's also but I thought to say like the
in I did this analysis a couple years ago too it's like the younger you are
to age wise is a no doubter of like it's a writer cups a young man's game
like the younger you are the much better record you're gonna have circle back
to some of that with JT and Gerard are we just sell high on JT yeah how old is
Gerard 27
Like that's that's his prime.
I'm just looking at I don't know.
Look, it doesn't last.
It doesn't last forever.
I do know.
But like Gerard's skill set is man, it's really good.
It's what you're looking for.
He hits it far and he hits the shit out of the irons and he makes a bunch of puts.
Like JT's kind of.
I don't know if JT's skill set is like aging all that great.
Love JT.
Nobody likes JT and Gerrard's a good team room guy too.
Seems like it.
It's just it's, it's interesting.
I think the JT versus Gerard 2027 thing is not, uh,
It sounds clear cut as it might seem on paper.
I got a way, I know as we transition into the international side here, D.C.,
I got a way to make this go a little smoother.
I know it's 845, but this episode is brought to you by our friends at Lock, Loman, whiskeys,
the official spirit of the Open and the proud Scotch whiskey partner of no laying up.
We took a trip this past spring to Northwest England.
We learned about Locke Lomans history of partnership with the Open and its signature fruit, honey,
and soft smoke profile that has led to tasting awards around the world.
It's the perfect time to discover Locke Lomans award-winning single malt whiskeys.
If you're lucky enough to attend next year's Open Championship as well, you will find
Locke Lomond Whiskeys at St. Andrews.
You'll find us there as well.
If you're watching at home like the rest of us, either the Open or any kind of golf,
you can learn more at locklomanwiskeys.com or ask for Lockloman at your preferred spirits
retailer.
It's that soft smoke, Sully.
You got that smoke.
All right.
On the international side, the captain's picks are Corey Connors,
Nico Etchavaria, SungJM, Rio Hizatsune,
Nick Taylor, and Christian Bazadenhot.
T.C., your response.
Your response.
Gosh, it's tough.
I don't know who else we were going to pick for being honest.
I'm sure there's some, you know, Keta Nakajima.
I'm sure there's some South Africans that I've never heard of that we could maybe splash around with.
Pock eater kind of a surprise, the big, the big, was it, Isosceles triangle?
Skill distribution.
Yeah, he's got one of those Star Trek looking skill distribution.
plots
a lot heavily favored
towards the driving distance
that's so much everywhere else
proper player right there
yeah how did that guy went
we kept saying this we were there but he won that
he won the am at Lhythm
how did he win it live him
that was single handedly seeing him on that
wall I was like all right this guy must be
a much better player that I
that I thought for
for you know a while now and then he watched
a play you're like ah maybe
maybe not I mean Jade is clearly not
healthy. I don't know what to say about Casey Jarvis. I feel like our guy,
Sudarshan, just totally spit the bit the second half of the year. I think when you start throwing
him out as a snub, I'm like, eh, I don't know, man. The one that I'm sure it's like he's a good
putter and he's pretty easy to team up with people as Bez. But it's just hard for me to get excited
about Trotton. Trotting Bez back out there.
It's not his best year.
It's bad.
Did not make the playoffs.
Yeah.
I don't know how to comment on this
without comment on the President's Cup as a whole.
Like, what do you...
Which I think I would say everything counter
to what I said about the Walker Cup, right?
Where I'm like, I don't think anybody's going there
of just like, I cannot wait to celebrate the tradition
and heritage of the President's Cup
in the same way that we do the Walker Cup.
I'm like, this is made for TV.
This is a fake juice event.
You should try to make this thing as close as possible to keep it relevant.
And without that, it starts to, starts to trend towards pretty bleak scenes.
Granted, I'm with you, T.C.
I'm very excited about Medina.
I think the golf course is going to be very fun to watch no matter what.
It should let Ogilvy set it up.
They should.
They should.
Might need him to play at some point.
Ogilvy and Trevor.
Yeah.
Give him, give him Keegan, too.
I don't, I don't think, you know, we don't do a captain's match.
Sneds could have been on team USA.
For sure.
Yeah.
I'm a little bit surprised Sneddnads didn't pick himself.
He won this year.
And Gerard didn't even win this year.
Cantley didn't win this year.
It's a good point.
It's a good point.
Yeah, I don't know.
It's not, you guys might know more about the golf course from your,
your conversation with Mike, but it's, it's not long.
It's a, there's some quirk.
There's some weirdness.
I mean, I think that's kind of the best case you can make for it being close for them kind of staying in it is like maybe you kind of throw some sand in the eyes and you make some quirky holes and and you kind of make it a little bit of a not a luck contest, but you just add more variables to kind of some some strange golf holes.
But man, it's a it's a task that they got that they got in front of them.
I feel like they should.
So I'm a little bit stoked about Sung Jay.
Sung Jays found some form the last couple months.
Founded.
Seems to be back.
Sewu playing great golf.
Yeah.
The weekend?
The weekend's a fun pick.
I love that.
Especially since it starts on Thursday, right?
You get Thursday and Friday instead of just Friday.
You get maybe two rounds of the weekend playing well?
I think maybe they should have said, hey, we're going to bring 20 guys and we're going to let and we're going to let 12 of these guys play off for the last.
you know maybe four spots last chance qualifier last chance kitchen yeah yeah i like that
it's interesting if you go and sort just by if you take both teams and take it look at their
strokes gained over the last six months here's how the chart shakes out but between both teams
number one player is american number two players american number three players american number
four players american number five players american number six players american what's the seven
players america though number eight players american number nine is siwu kim number ten is american
Number 11 is an American that wasn't picked.
Number 12 is an American that wasn't picked.
Number 13 is an American.
Number 14's an American that wasn't eligible.
Number 15 is an international player who was not eligible.
Number 16 is Hideki Matsuyama.
Number 17 is Ryan Gerard, who was not picked.
Number 18 is Adam Scott.
So three international players, really three international players are the top like 25
before you get to Tom Kim and Minou Lee,
which, listen, Strokes game does not decide it necessarily.
is this match play. It is going to be different.
But man, it's just like, it's hard to live, live really.
I think it's a great opportunity for the U.S. to win like 22 to 6, whatever it's going to be.
22 to 6.
I don't know.
I'm exaggerating to make this point.
And have rollout, that'd be Rollaps first president's cup to say, like, we got to drastically reimagine this event.
Like, not tweak it.
Like, it needs to be drastically reimagined.
Because like right now, it's kind of like, I don't know.
It's kind of how I set up some of these fantasy leagues we play.
And it's like, all right, I'll run the show and I'm going to beat your guys asses really, really badly.
And just we're going to go around the world and do that.
And it just, it's not right.
Like, it's just not.
It's the source.
It's just wait for just get upset.
I was just making sure.
I'm up 11.3 again this week.
I'm having one of the foremost two week runs.
I'm going to, like, 25 to, like, 25 to,
five over my last two weeks.
We'll take that week.
That'll be on my channel.
I mean, Sally,
how many guys,
how many guys would you have put on the team from Live?
For the internationals?
Yeah, it can't, like, is a good course for Cam.
Joaquin,
Lucas Herbert.
Yeah.
Mean Dean Bermester might have been a consideration.
Leash might have been consideration like,
If you could get the rhino jive and in all the Southern Guards fans, you know,
and I'd see like the Southern Guards fans and they're direct.
Is there a direct to know there?
Yeah. Fanatics.
I think they'd like that Ben diagram might be pretty.
A Southern Guards fanatics co-lab might be what this event needs.
But I mean, we did a big research project like the origin of the President's Cup looking back
in the 90s and this event was hastily stood up because,
IMG was getting ready to put their own international event up.
PJ A tour rushed this like basically like rushed it from like January of the same year to
like that year they were playing in the fall they were playing.
But it made sense with like Ernie Ells and Vijay and like massive international non-European or
American stars that like didn't have a place to do this.
And like just not the way the game of golf has trended.
And some of the top players that did that have left the PGA tour.
And it was a hard thing to clear anyways.
Like not everyone from outside of.
of Europe and the US plays the majority of their golf in the US and on the PGA tour.
And it just, it was a little bit, a decent idea for the 90s, but a little doomed from the start.
And it's, it's beyond time to reimagine.
Of course, we know that.
But it's just funny, man, to delay these two in relief.
But going back to the Walker Cup, it's like, oh, man, in the 20s, all these Americans have to
take a steamship over to try to qualify for the open.
And they've got days before the tournament starts.
And what if we played a match against each other in the fellowship of the game versus just like, well, fuck, we got to beat IMG to the corner, man.
We got it.
We got to do it.
We got to get this thing stood up.
I don't know.
U.S.
versus the rest of the world.
Wow, we can't throw Europe.
Well, U.S.
versus the rest of the world except for Europe.
I think people will really grab onto that.
That'll be a good rallying cry.
It just doesn't make sense.
I'm just going down the list here of like RICO, hoey.
Cota Kineko
Haltong Lee
Henni Dupluses
Duplese, excuse me
Does Rico not play under the U.S. flag?
I thought he was married.
Philippines.
Oh, did not know that.
You know, Michael Hollick, the golf holic.
All these guys.
There's just so many missed cuts.
It's incredible how many cuts these guys
have missed in the last three months.
I will say, if you want to,
Episode 902 is our old Presidents Cup origin deep dive if you're if you're so inclined.
Sorry, D.C. No Pendo on the team. I know that I had to I had to make a ask cap.
Yeah, yeah, there's only two Canadians. McKenzie Hughes has fallen off a cliff.
Nick Taylor's dog. I didn't get a look. Yeah, I'm finally no Taylor. Nick Taylor gets it gets a
gets a wait for the lead and he usually gets it done. I don't I mean Nick are straight. Yeah, I don't know.
I'm just looking at. I feel like Nick Taylor.
and uh, Corey Connors are like complete opposite of one another as far as like,
Cory Connors gets a sniff and never gets it done. Yes. Uh, you know, now that, now that Tommy's
gotten it done before. Tommy was trending towards that Cory Conner's career, uh, thing. I mean,
Cory Connors might be, you know, a poor man's Tommy, right? The US is minus 400, I believe to win.
house. I was going to say like I tried to like get gather some people ahead of the the one at
quite a try to put a fun together. I think I think I said this and I it doesn't mean anything because
I didn't actually do it but like I think I said I'd be willing to bet $10,000 to win at quail
Hollow and when I bet I bet literally $20 like a game I think I said I would bet and they almost
kind of lost that one that was a little closer uh that I think we wanted but like I feel I
would feel the exact same of like I feel like I could if they lost it like okay that was just
definitely not meant to be uh but I could I could bet 10,000 to win to win whatever that would be
to 2000 that the US will win this one. I'm even looking at like Abe answer. A Banser has like zero
like he doesn't like it out in non-live events. Yeah. He just like almost these other guys that was like
I don't know what's coming next but it's been it's been a hell of ride. I don't think he cares about golf at
all. He's played well in the live events too. He's got how about how about me to dust him off and
roll him out there. That's interesting. That's interesting. Oh, okay. Let's stop. President. Yeah. It's not good.
Moving on very do you want to do a like you said reimagined it. Do you want to do any like what should
it be? We'll say that 90% of the week of I think. Yeah. I mean, I think we know it's it's crossover with
the women would we all see it. We all.
Blue hair.
It would be awesome.
Yeah.
Which it's not trending.
Like,
it's not good that Solheim is back on president's cup cycle.
That's not a,
a great thing for that possibility.
What if they did like an international crown style thing?
You basically bring back like the,
the World Cup of Golf kind of thing.
And you do the,
you know,
let's say you got three or four guys.
You know,
let's say you have 12.
I mean,
I guess that's kind of what the Olympics is a little bit.
I know.
But it's kind of,
just like for what you know at that point why suck what does that tell us which i also think i would
like what does this event tell us oh cool u.s golf is way stronger than the rest of the world
except europe like let's say you had three guys instead of you know let's say it's co-ed yeah i feel
like you'd have a hard time convincing the top american players to play that you know it's not like
i don't know and you got out of him is you know yeah i don't may you're a bitch
Oh, no, T.C. said I'm a bitch. I'm going to go spend my week at home with my family. I think that gets kind of works. Moving on, some quick hits. Then we're going to T.C.'s Ireland trip and then some things we're looking forward to the rest of the year. Tiger had his court date this week. It has been ruled that he will lose his license for five years. We are going to, at least for a five-year period, we're going to get what we've asked for a long time. Tigerwood should not be behind the wheel of cars. And that will be by long.
law of the case from now going forward.
So not a fun development, but I think overall a good development for those of us that
would like to see Tiger stick around with us for quite some time.
I think they should have said 10 years.
Give us 10.
Five more years.
Maybe we'll review it in five years.
I saw Ron DeSantis said he is allowed to drive a golf cart on the course.
I think that's fair.
I think that's fair.
Yeah.
Just I don't think there's any number of years that's that's too too many here.
I think we've got some pretty good proof of what's going on behind the wheel.
I got I got no issues here.
Take it away.
100%.
Colt Nost went to the Everything app with an update from the USGA on his amateur status.
It said, hello, Colt.
I'm writing with an update on your application for reinstatement of your amateur status.
The USGA has recently decided to reevaluate its reinstatement guidelines.
for applicants who, like you, have a successful history competing as a professional
questions regarding how the guidelines should apply in these circumstances have contributed
to earlier delays in reaching a decision on your application.
And your application has now formally been placed on hold while staff works with the USGA
Amateur Status Committee and Executive Committee to complete its work.
Goes on from there.
But changing in the process is finally going to appear to happen, which will be the delight
of many, including those of us here as well.
hell yeah i think i hope we're going back retroactively and pulling some status from people oh for sure
maybe maybe you have to right yeah you know it's i i yeah i i think this one got away from from the
us ja kind of a little bit at a time and then sort of all at once as as people realize they could
they could get back and play some of these events but yeah it's it's it's a boring answer but it's
like man I don't don't fault any of the people doing it we've said this with Huber a bunch of times
right or it's like yeah man if you're not going to close it i understand why they're why they're doing it
but yeah for a rule that i think as i understand was kind of put in there to help almost more like
pg.a professional type of people hey you you turned pro and worked in a golf shop for a couple
years and now you want to get back and play your state am or whatever i'm like that's just very
different than i had sponsors and made a career as a as a tour player
is yeah it's just kind of kind of silly so I'm sure it's messy yeah I'm sure it's messy to
unwind it and figure out where the line is but I think that's kind of what the job is of the
USGA so excited to see them hopefully taking some steps here what should the line be though
like that's where it's it's difficult to draw it's the same thing you know you know I'm asking
right I know but it is I mean like Mike Sposa one
the U.S. Senior Am this week.
I think he made something in the 300s
from career starts on
PGA related tours.
Oops.
There's a few just like awful examples
out there. But like, I found this.
I saved this. This guy Johnny V.
golf on Instagram came on my,
my algorithm. He had, he kind of said like,
ever reached top 500 in the world,
you're out. Like you can not become an amateur again.
I think that's a pretty decent guideline.
If you played professionally in a PGA tour sanctioned or affiliated event as a professional and made the cut.
If you made a cut in a PGA tour event, like you should not get your get your PJs or sanctioned.
So like PGA tour Americas would be included there.
Yeah.
Okay.
Which is like aggressive, but it's like, well, if you, I think amateur golf is for people that did not dedicate their profession to the game and skill of golf.
like you were doing something else and playing golf.
Haggistad might be a different conversation.
But like if you spent any amount of, I mean, I get it.
Like if you spent two weeks being a professional and fail, that's a different.
But if you spent, if you were Stuart Greyhand who spent seven years trying to make it,
like he was seven years dedicated to his craft that is not afforded to true amateur golfers.
They were trying to say like, this guy's a financial planner now.
And I don't know how he finds the time to practice.
And it's like, come on.
Well, because he practiced it for seven years.
years. Like there's deterioration of your skills for sure. Greg Chalmers was weighing in on this this week.
I'm like, yeah, you're not going to be as sharp as you were when you were pro, but you also have
incredibly massive advantage to compare to not as good as I want. Yeah. That's right. And good
ones. And we're at the point where people just look at it too and it's like, ah, former pro won it.
And it just like truly ruining some of these events. I think it's like, what do you think about
if you said, all right, you know what? If you stop being a pro.
by the time you're 30, you can reset for the senior AM stuff.
Otherwise, you are out of mid-am and you're out of amateur stuff.
I could see that.
Maybe if, like, if you want to major in your 20s, maybe not.
But, you know, like it, I see where you're at of like, yeah, a true, like, wearing off.
Hey, the answer.
Come on back, bud.
Come through.
Like, should Colton Nose be able to be a senior am, you think?
probably not yeah i don't yeah it's hard man you start like getting in specifics and it's like
well that's that's that's kind of the job of the usGA not me who's been sitting here thinking about it
for 30 seconds but it's sure i do think conceptually i was talking to randy and neal about this a lot
while we're uh filming this week and randy has a very good point on this that it's like man
there there does need to be some gravity to the i'm turning pro decision you know like this is one of
those consequences. Like you don't get to kind of have it both ways. Like if you want to pursue a career
in this, that's awesome. Pro Golf is a unbelievably like cool thing to chase and a fulfilling thing to chase.
If you can, if you can do it. But this is a break in the road. Yeah. This is kind of there needs to be
something that's like, this is what you're giving up. And where the, you know, cow gets out of the barn on a
lot of this other stuff is like NIL things and what's the difference between a college player who's
making 600 grand and endorsements, quote unquote, playing amateur golf.
Like it does become a huge cluster fuck when you start drilling into the details.
But it's, again, I'm like, man, that's kind of the point of having a governing body is to
to make those decisions and draw those lines and figure out what's what.
So yeah, someone just kind of figure it out.
It does.
But I'd say like to that, like you, if you're a college player earning hundreds of thousand dollars playing college golf,
Like, you do graduate from that and you have a decision to make.
Like, do I want to continue to use my golf skill to make money?
Then I got to have to turn professionally.
Like, I don't think, I think you're going to make enough money doing like the midam cocktail tour from sponsorships.
Like the NIL stuff runs out and, you know, if you can, good for you.
That's a way to do it if you really want to.
But it seems like if you go from college to pursuing playing amateur events and taking up sponsorship dollars to do that and can make enough money to do it, I'm like, all right, hats off to you.
Like, that's different than, like, beating and playing weekends on the PJ with the best professional golfers in the world.
That's a big ass difference to me.
Like, the way Stu has done it is technically allowed.
Like, I know, you know, maybe.
Not only allowed.
People have been doing it for a very, very, very long time.
Right.
Like, not many people, but a few people have been doing that for a while.
So, that's what I think.
But I'm also, I can't break par anymore.
This doesn't really apply to me anymore.
So, Harbor Town, Harboretown gets the championship status event from RBC.
Has some questions being asked, of course, about Canada.
T.C., any thoughts on this?
Yeah, I think it's, I think Canada would be best served being a fall event,
where they could be a true national open.
They could have, like, I think if Canada was a championship series event,
they're going to have to play it during the summer when it's soft and it's not,
And I think the best conditions up there in September.
So I think if you added this into like a shit,
make it a freaking DP World Tour event or a, you know,
part of that kind of national open series where you got Irish open and you do Canadian open
and maybe you throw Spanish open or gosh, do like Argentina open in there.
You know, just to have it be like the national open sweepstakes.
You play it in September.
And yeah, I don't know.
It just feels like a more natural fit than saying, hey, you know what?
No can it like only two Canadian players are going to be able to play in this because there's only two Canadian guys in the championship series.
Right.
Yeah.
Totally.
Agreed.
Yep.
I think that's very obvious.
I'm glad, you know, I think Harbortown, Harbentown gets championship status.
I assume they'll keep it after the masters.
I don't know if that's necessarily the best place for it, especially if there's other stuff going on.
in and around the southeast as well.
But I imagine that'll just kind of continue forward on that current slot.
I would think so as well.
You like this one.
Ryan O'Toole is pregnant.
LPJ tour player is pregnant,
but also leading the Aeon Risk Reward Challenge standings.
It is shutting it down for the rest of the season because she's already got enough qualifying rounds.
It comes with a $1 million prize winning the Aon Risk Reward Challenge standings.
for the year. So she will be winning that one. She's
she's played enough qualifying rounds. She's good.
And we'll get the prize. Don't hate the player here. Don't hate the player at the game.
Yeah. Yeah, unless somebody goes absolutely nuts and, you know,
joins, joins the brotherhood of the sisterhood and makes an ace on them.
What if they do giant funnel pins to make sure she does it win?
Like, I always get such a kid. I feel like this happens every few years.
And I think the million dollars is a much bigger deal in the women's game than it is in the men's game from a
from an incentive perspective.
But yeah, it's just a funny.
Like Bethann had this on golf week.
And Ryan said,
the Aeon puts a halt in my future play.
Having enough qualifying rounds and sitting at the top,
I feel I should just now just sit on the lead
and hope no one catches it.
As much as I want to compete and continue playing,
I'm only getting more pregnant.
You know, and like one of the events is in Hawaii.
The other one, there's a few in Asia.
obviously she's not going to hop on a plane and and you know travel all the way over for that but i just
i love perverse incentives it's so funny uh speaking of perverse incentives uh we've been heavily
incentivized to buy a bunch of bots and we uh and you know lang i just want to thank you everyone
for reaching out for congratulating us for passing five million followers uh on soly seriously man congrats
thank you there's a lot of work moment for me yeah
A lot of work.
Especially a lot of work has gone in recently when, you know, we just passed 500,000 back, I think in March.
And now we're at 5 million.
It's just crazy support from the community, really.
How much are you buying these followers for?
It's really expensive.
I'm surprised Randy hasn't flagged the expense yet.
That's why I was trying to put 10 Gs down on the president's cup.
I would love an answer from X as to why this has happened and how this has happened.
Like, because if the answer is like some live bot bought followers for us, just to like.
sick prank is very funny. It is a sick prank if that's what happened. If that is the case,
I want to know. Yeah, I want to know who did this because, yeah, for anyone that thinks that we would
ever do that, like, it is completely ruined what was like a very natural organic following.
Like we, every, every media company does this. Like you put your following numbers in your media
decks to show your reach and things like that. And we had a very real number of like almost
half a million people. And now it's like, what the hell do we put there now?
Like how do you estimate how many real actual followers we have?
It's a, it's not a good thing.
And so we've, but yeah, thank you everyone that's still not getting the joke on that one.
And thinks that we've, that we fake this.
But some right, right people out there.
What's the, I mean, what's the next goal now that we've reached this mountain top?
100 million.
I think a hundred.
Yeah.
I think we have ramp it up.
Yeah.
You got to get your ass to work on, on, on, on, on,
on the gram.
Yeah.
I would.
A couple people I would like to congratulate for not spending too much time on there
because they did earnestly text me like,
oh,
congrats on five million.
That's awesome for you guys.
No,
no,
no,
it's not real.
It's not real.
It's also funny in that like,
I feel like you,
in particular,
like all of us,
would just spend less time than ever on X the everything app.
Like for sure.
Yeah.
Just a necessary evil during big weeks,
I think.
Exactly.
That's exactly right.
It seems like everything's going really good.
there. Really well done. T.C., you took a little Ireland golf trip. I did in recent months.
Yeah. Take us in. Yeah, I was some buddies, a spot opened up on a trip, some buddies here from
Pontevira. We're taking first golf trip I've been on in like eight or nine years that I haven't
planned myself, which was really, really nice. And it was pretty much the same, very similar it
it was an itinerary to what we did when we went in 2019 to Ireland.
So we didn't do Karn Nis Krohn-S-Croen-Sligo, but we did, or Adair, but we did, we did Trilly,
our guy, Traley Johnson, we did Trilly, we did Trilly, we did Dunebag, we did Ballyon,
dukes waterville
you know that that whole kind of tourist track
based ourselves down in calarney
sit at the great southern which i think we stayed at last time
I had no recollection of a great hotel
wonderful hotel but the surprise
we were supposed to do a hinge
we ended up scratching that
some of the guys didn't want to play off mats
in advance of the walker we were there like
two or three weeks before the walker cup
so we did not do old head
again I apologize
Again.
Everyone out there.
We did not do old head again.
Like you see the hogshead helicopter, you know, kind of depositing people in various places
all over.
We had a mix of handicaps.
People hell-skiy it out in the old.
You know, about four handicaps, about a 16 handicap.
So pretty wide dispersion.
Biggest surprise of the trip.
We were supposed to play there last time.
freaking hurricane rolled in.
Count Shabelle, Dingle Golf Links.
I loved it.
It was awesome.
It doesn't look like much when you're driving up.
It's kind of sits in this saddle between these peaks.
And it was everything I love about links golf and the quirky routing and inventive fun holes.
Fine fescue that was like burned out and fast and bouncy, like brilliant playing surfaces.
like best conditioned course we played on the entire trip.
And probably the least expensive course we played on the trip by a mag,
by an order of two or three.
So just really well run,
really cool landscape.
Like there's these kind of three like jagged peaks nearby.
They call it three sisters and just the way that the fog rolls in there.
And like it almost felt like being up at Lufiton in spots.
Just like really much more raw and rugged.
greater than some of its parts.
And yeah, like I would play it probably 8-2 over Dukes.
Like, I feel like people would compare those to.
Like, it was awesome.
I think there's something to that where I think the knock,
if there is one on Irish golf compared to Scottish golf,
is like the next, like there's amazing top-level golf at both places,
but like the next tier, Scotland blows Ireland out of the water.
So, like, the more places you can add to that list of like B-side, you know,
courses that very easily clear the bar and lead to a great day of golf, I think are absolutely
worth highlighting and shouting out. So that's, that's great to hear. Yeah. And just like just
great restaurant up top. Just yeah, just like good people down there. And, yeah, it felt,
it felt very, yeah, very much like authentic and like why I travel for golf. So.
T.C. What was the, was the return to Dunebeg like? Because I, I, I didn't walk away like
loving that place. I think everybody kind of got there. The shit kicked out of them.
the routing was weird but then i had a buddy go a couple of couple weeks ago a couple months ago
like kind of right before you were there there's a guy i don't know what you're talking about it like
it's awesome uh and it seems like they've made a lot of changes yeah i felt similarly going in i was like
we're going back to doomba it was like last round of the trip for me uh all that it was awesome
i loved it was uh it was in great shape uh they've rerouted like the first hole in the 18th hole have
kind of switched. It's a little bit more coherent on that front. 18's not quite as,
it's probably a stronger golf hole, not quite as scenic. They've moved it away from the coast.
I know Martin Hotry, I think,'s done a bunch of work there. It felt like before it felt like all the
greens were very disconnected from the dunes. And now it felt, and honestly, the conditioning was
super shitty when we went in 2019. Conditioning was awesome. The routing, it's really, really,
fun in that like you get you know short par four then par three then par five then back to a short
three then another short four like it's just really fun golf somebody had poisoned the the 10th green
a few weeks prior so that was on a that was on a temp green they're getting ready for the
for the irish open this week so yeah that was that was tough that that cream was yellow i'll be
curious to see what that looks like uh here moving forward but but yeah i was i was very pleasantly
surprised. Just, yeah, it was in, yeah, just a nice, nice experience. So, you know, strip away the
politics and however you feel about DT and all that. It's, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a really cool
piece of land and you're kind of playing along this bay and you get really, really far away from
from the hotel. People there are nice. It supports, you know, the, the, the, uh, the local economy there. So
Really enjoyed that.
Is Brice is not playing the Irish Open?
Is he not?
I just,
he's not on the entry list.
That was an extremely strong rumor when we were at the PGA championship to the point
where they were planning out DT's pro-am plans and things like that to play with Bryson.
And I just,
just looked,
I hadn't heard any buzz about it.
I just looked on the entry list and I don't see him there.
So,
yeah.
And yeah,
well,
it was funny too.
Like,
I think so many people were like,
oh,
you guys just didn't like the course because you don't like Donald Trump.
I was like,
no, I just didn't like the golf course.
Hopefully that kind of like.
Love Turnberry.
Listen, there's not going to find many turnberry critics here.
Maybe we're able to separate the two out.
Yeah.
And the bangs harder that, you know, bangs harder than the first time around truly.
Truly was awesome, man.
Love Trale.
They've done, they've done good work there since we were there.
Had an epic caddy there.
He's the man.
It was just like such a, we had a really sunny day.
out there. It was the stuff they've done on the front nine there was awesome. Uh,
and then the back nine's just rips just bangor after bangor after banger. It's such a fun
golf course. The, you know, just well run. The restaurant upstairs, awesome. Um, just a good golf club.
Like everything that everything you would want out of a local club and they, they blend the,
the, the mix of being a local club and being a tourist factory together as, as well as I've
ever seen. So was a anything it didn't didn't live up to kind of first time around man
dude, ballet bunyan was like I mean it's like one of my favorite golf courses in the
world like from a routing perspective. Uh, we played it on like a perfect day like not much wind.
Um, and like having been to sand hills and and, you know, band in a few more times now like
Bally Bunyan makes more sense than ever to me.
And like it's just the kind of one of the OGs.
They're along with like Dornick as far as like, oh, no, like I see exactly what Mike Kaiser was trying to do here.
But man, the, the, and I had great caddy out there.
The, it was so lush and overwatered and like to the point of like it being a detriment.
And you can tell like that they're like that's what they're about.
It's like we want to be the greenest show on turf.
Like we want to be mowing lines, you know, the diamond mowing lines and crisp cut, you know, kind of the cross cut stuff and different layers here and there.
And like this is an aesthetic exercise, not a not a playing surface exercise.
And I know that that I heard that the superintendent there works remotely a few days like a few days a week, which blew my mind.
And just generally speaking, talking to people there and talking to people all around southwest of Ireland, yeah, it sounds like Ballet Bunyan might have some issues and decisions to be made in the coming years. Like, what do you want to be? Do you want to be just an absolute factory or like in like, I think when this guy started, he had 12 or 15 guys on the on the staff. He's got 70 now.
And like there's just there's ropes everywhere too of like you can walk here you can't walk here
You can I get it they get a ton of play and we didn't play the the
revamped Cache and course but but yeah it just didn't like it looks really good and then you get in there and it's just soft and slow and it's like
It was the driest summer there in the last five or six years and
You know you're going and it's like man this place like how is this place so wet and
lush and soaked, you know. So that was that was a bummer. Yeah, and just kind of putting like kind of
is rock in my world a little bit. I know. Yeah. And like it's like a top 25 30 golf course in the world.
Right. Like it's about the golf. It's about the clubhouse. It was just kind of ratty and just it just
feels like a factory in the wrong in the wrong ways. And then I think Waterville was just like as I
remembered it like it didn't really i wanted to like waterville the first time more than i did um
and then you know it was just kind of like the second time around was kind of more of the same
was like it i can see why the the u.s players both passed and i think some current guys still go
over there to like play for you know play the play three four five days before the opening and get ready
there. You know, very scenic, but like very much like an objective binary golf course, right? Like
the FOS has done plenty of work there. It's, uh, you know, hey, you like you have to cover this bunker at
320 off the back T's. And it's, it's very much that sort of test of like it's a one or a zero,
this shot or that shot. The back nine, much better than the front nine. Um, but I feel like, man,
like to a man on our trip everybody was like give me truly over waterville he's so much more fun
and like is it as good of a golf course objectively probably not but like uh it just feels so much
more lynxy and it feels so much more memorable yeah the highs are higher yeah even that finish at
at uh waterville of just you know you get the the hole that le in you know leum's dapping everybody up in
the pro shop and those ladies there at the in the turn stand or the yeah or not the turn
stand yeah the little yeah the little restaurant down there yeah and then the ladies in the pro shop
awesome like they handle their stuff they that's the best pro shop in southwest ireland by
far great logo obviously yeah awesome logo like really first class operation there um but yeah even the
i don't know even like the mass hole i'm just like man like there's like a better approximation of
this whole at Tralee.
Like that fake part three, yeah, yeah.
Like the party doctor saw it.
He was like, well, he was like, wait, we're playing over there to that hole.
That's crazy.
So what, uh, what about the off the core stuff?
I mean, I feel like that's almost like a bigger part of some of the
of the Ireland, uh, Ireland golf experience.
Yeah, we had great.
I mean, we went to Reedies a few nights.
It was, Reedies was great.
The site of Neil's famous, uh, yeah,
dance party at uh in tours house season what was that for yeah there was there was a dude playing like
playing the the saxophone live like he was playing to like they had a DJ and like he was
playing the saxophone to like these club beats oh hell yeah it was awesome uh and a bunch of bachelor
parties there very very nLU friendly crowd like holy shit um and yeah uh just yeah great great
there the food food's wonderful and calarney it i mean it feels like going to epcot right it's like it's like
disney world for ir it's like irish disney world basically it's you know it's not quite the most i would say
like authentic experience but it's a fucking blast so um but yeah good you know really really good good trip
and uh glad i went back but i don't i don't think like i don't think i need to reprise that trip i just
like I kind of turned my brain off.
I was like, you know what?
I'm just going to go and enjoy this trip with the guys.
And I did.
And like I kind of just went with the flow and everything.
But like I think my happiness comes from playing new golf courses and having
new experiences like going to places that are unexpected.
And like I think that's why Cald-Shabelle struck me so much too was.
Yeah.
But then again, like truly was, you know,
it was like even better the second time around kind of thing too.
So.
So hard to prioritize that balance.
We've talked about that a bunch with, you know,
you can only get out for so many trips a year.
Like, do you go try to turn over more puzzle pieces
or do you go try to get some more depth on some world-class place?
It's exactly good problem to have, I suppose.
So, all right, let's move towards wrapping.
I know you've got to head to the airport here soon, T.C.,
but wanted to give a few delights for the rest of the year.
We're each going to give three things we're looking forward to
or curious to see kind of in the rest of the year
It can be professional golf or non-professional golf.
I'll kick us off quickly here to just say what we're literally about to go get on the flight
to go do.
We're spending a few days around Holland or around Amsterdam filming.
I've not really experienced a lot of golf in the Netherlands, to be honest.
I've played a few courses there, but wasn't playing a lot of golf when I lived there.
So getting to do that, getting to document that, getting to visit some old haunts as well.
And the Solheim Cup on the back end of that, this is probably the highlight trip of the year for me.
and I cannot wait to see Bernardis.
It looks really cool.
We're going to be biking to the course from the hotel.
And it's an awesome competition.
And I think the environment's going to be great.
And this has just been circled on the couch.
Still hot as shit here in Florida.
And get to pack a lot of...
It's so humid.
Get to pack a lot of stuff that some long sleeve layers and things like that.
I'm so stoked.
Do you tell you?
I will go...
I think shouted this out a couple times,
but I'll do it again.
on the heels of our Ross Steelman interview.
I'm just,
I'm stoked about some of the,
the class of corn fairy tour dudes.
I think there's a crop of young American dudes.
There's a cabal of dudes that's,
that's common.
Ross,
Ross leading the way right there.
If you haven't listened to our interview with him,
it was a delight.
Lots of great response from people on that one.
But it's not just him.
I mean,
Doc Redmond,
Ian Holt,
Cole Sherwood,
Alistair Dockerdie,
I know,
has been knocking on the door for a couple years.
Tommy Morrison,
I'm just fascinated, like, just don't see a lot of golfers that look like him.
I mean, just in awe of the size of that lad.
Fedora five member.
Yeah, it's just, I think there's a lot of guys that, you know, there's a good,
a good crop that could be doing stuff on the PJ tour next year.
And I'm pretty fascinated to watch that over the next couple months and into next season.
T.C.
Ozzie Open at Kingston Heath.
Sure.
Sign me up.
It's going to be awesome.
Sorry, I know you hate Kingston Heath, but.
I'm really excited for it.
It's not true.
Stop.
Please make it stop.
Yeah, that was an easy one.
I'll give a shout.
The one fall event on the PJ tour that rocks every year is the Bank of Utah.
100%.
I just love watching that one.
Feels low stakes,
but it just feels like crazy moon golf.
And I just,
that's a fun Thursday to Sunday watch all the way through.
So a lot of the fall golf is like,
I'll tune in Sunday.
and see what happens versus that one I'll have on my TV.
But each, you know, listen, this is kind of self-serving here, but I'm going to,
I'm going to shout out NLU video, man.
We've got like one, like at least 10 right now, maybe 11, like certified bangers, just in
the hopper.
And I'm going to be coming out over the next three to six months.
It's just there's a lot of good, good stuff.
We've got a full season of tourist sauce that's coming.
We shot a strapped this week, like I mentioned.
We've got three, four hitting cups videos that we're doing with Huber, if you liked those.
We've got a bunch more of those coming.
We've got a city tour of Chicago that's coming.
You guys are about to get on the plane to Amsterdam.
Just a lot of good NLU video stuff coming.
So, yeah, come through.
Come watch some of that.
I think it's going to be fun the rest of the year.
Like and subscribe.
Yeah, exactly.
TC. Go ahead. Oh, I was going to say the Dunhill links. And just generally speaking,
I think these fall events on the DP World Tour are going to be pretty epic as far as just the
fields that are teeing it up. I mean, even today, like you got, you know, Gene Chakara,
who made a triple on his first hole, Paul Casey, P, of course, Matt Wall. Like, it's,
It's going to be, there's going to be a lot of guys turning up for, for these fall events on the DP World Tour.
Even, even DP World Tour K school is going to be a sweepstakes as well.
Like, it's going to be a fascinating look at the reentry process, you know, coming, coming out of orbit, coming back into the real golf ecosystem.
I love that.
My lone competitive rep in the remainder of the year, Neil and I are going to play a foursomes event again.
We played a two years in row.
we did Alt Shot back 21, 22, I think, for the two years we did it.
We're dusting that off.
I think I have to figure out his golf ball again, which is a little bit of an adventure.
But I look forward to that challenge.
And we're going to do one of those down here in Jacks.
So that's not until December, but that's what's got me geared up for golf this fall.
Love it.
I will, my final pick here, I'll shout out the Asheville event that's coming up in a couple weeks here.
the I think people certainly not people there but like I think the flooding and the kind of disaster that went through there a couple years ago almost um I don't say people slept on it but like I was talking to somebody from Asheville the other day who was just like really running me through how devastated that whole area got and it's just it's almost hard to remember right like how how bad that was and and the PJ tour going back there it's just it's an interesting fall event you want them to do interesting things in the fall it's
an area that we don't usually see in in the golf world at least on a really big stage i know it's it's
not a some big uh signature event or something but even just to have the the pj tour go there and
support that area i think it's just kind of a generally all thumbs up you know i i'll be really
interested to watch it and uh i'm pumped that that is taking place so i'm excited for that maybe some
foliage too yeah yeah i think the weather would be nice it's just it's such a cool area of the country and
it's it's an area that yeah pro golf like we don't ever really get to see anything from there so
i i like it's what the fall should be about my last one a lot of different directions we could go here
you know i was thinking about the midam at the lito uh or you know the pinnhurst 11 opening up but
i'm going to go with the race to Dubai so i know you know you know you i know you hate the dp world
tour but don't you have a flight to catch dude but he is currently 300
150-ish points ahead of Rory at the moment, who is 270 points ahead of Chakara.
And P versus Rory coming down the stretch on the D.P. World Tour could be a point of
it might get Rory to care about the race to Dubai.
Exactly. Exactly. And I did notice there, there's a Rory McElroy Award on the,
like on the European tour. And it's basically the guy who had the lowest score in the majors that,
year. I think he had to play in all the majors. But Rory is not eligible to win the award.
It's because it's named after him. So it's everybody excluding Rory. That's sick.
That was very funny. The backdoor top 10 is they had an award for to celebrate backdoor top
tens, I guess. So as we're recording this, Tristan Lawrence has shot 62. He's 18 under.
Paul Casey has five holes to go at in, uh, in Switzerland. Sorry, we cannot fully put a bow.
on that one. But as mentioned, looking ahead, we got the Solheim Cup this week, the Irish Open on a DP World Tour. P.J. Tour is off again. Before we go, I do want to give a shout out to the Noling Up Pro Shop. If you're watching this here on YouTube, just going to give a quick, quick show off here of what the new arrivals page just looks like right now. T.C., I hit this last night preparing for this. And I was like, holy shit, man. I need to do some shopping. I don't have the Ellison textured hoodie from H. That's the hoodie of the year. That's the point.
the joggers like i'll be putting in order for that from the airport we're wearing those today
on the flight the clive pullover i mean this page is just certified banger so go to store dot no laying up
com uh you will find some new fall and winter goodies uh on there that fletcher wool sweater hoodie
