Be the right club today.
That's better than most.
How about him?
That is better than most.
Better than most.
Ladies and gentlemen,
welcome back to the No Laying Up podcast.
Sali here.
First real like fall one.
First, you know, football Sunday, late night pot.
I got my guys here.
DJ Pi is here.
Hello, Pi, man.
Hello, Sally.
Good to be with you.
Lots of fun golf to talk about.
I'm pumped to be here.
Sneaky.
Good golf week. T.C. is here. Hello, TC. Greetings. I got the clapper on my second screen here.
All is right in the world.
Oh, except for that CBS halftime show is abhorrent with Nate Burleson and co.
T.C.'s been waiting all day. You know that. How are they doing with Sunday night football?
Is it on like NBC Sportsnet or something or Sunday? Or Sunday baseball? I mean,
probably on the Bucke. Oh, it's probably a peacock and the Brewers are on. No, it's on. I've got it on forever.
I have a massive fantasy implicatory.
It's on TV. With YouTube TV, I never know where we are. Anyways, let's get back on track.
Winners from around the world. JJ respawned over at Wentworth and won the BMW PGA. Jacob
Bridgman wins the inaugural Biltmore. Sandy Scott wins the nationwide in Columbus.
Shout out to Strapped. We played with his brother Callum at Texas Tech at the Rawls course. Love it.
Congrats to Sandy. Shout to Nairn Golf Club and everybody up there. Sharpe, the gang.
The commission associate at the rolls.
As well as Juniper Jang wins the El Dorado shootout on the Epsontor
in a playoff over Kate Smith Stroh.
The No Linga podcast, of course, brought to you by our friends at Titleist.
T.C., you're up tonight.
We've been fit into basically everything we've got.
I want to hear your best fitting example, you know, light bulb going off moment you've had with getting fit by title.
Light bulb going on moment.
Yeah, this is big.
He got in my ass about this a couple of weeks ago.
I have a much more coherent setup this year.
I've got the GTS 3 for driver,
and then I go 4 wood to 7 wood to like a souped up 4 iron.
Now I've got the U505, 4 iron with the blue souped up shaft in it.
And I feel like I've got, I finally have control of the middle of my bag.
The 7 wood, I'm still learning how to play that thing
are still getting to know that, but the four wood's been a complete revelation.
It's been great off the tea.
It marries up everything I loved about my three wood and everything I learned about my five wood
with none of the stuff that I didn't like.
And it just allows me to have just consistent gaping all the way through my bag.
And the three and a half four iron that I've got has been a freaking game changer,
especially when playing overseas or playing on firm turf.
So that's kind of the unlock for me.
I'm still gaming that 44 degrees.
bokey pitching wedge as well that's like that's become the favorite club in my bag by far
too well this is an underrated part of getting fit is the people think it just means like the specs
the loft lie angle loft all that you know the grinds all that but it's also just your gaping
like figuring out your gaping is something that you want to put uh descent angle i never thought about
descent angle i was going to say like it's not just three days man yeah i know like it's not just
about now i know distance it's gaping your descent angles and your and you're you know your apex high
and all that stuff.
Head of Titles.com to find a fitter near you so you can be raving about your setup like
Mr. T-1-53 iron in recently.
Close that gap between the, you know, my woods and my irons.
It's been awesome.
I love that one.
Good one to hit off the 18th C.
It went worth.
I did go back.
Is that where we're going?
I thought that's where we're doing.
Exactly where we're going.
It was perfect.
Thank you.
Felipe Ocelli and Manuel Elvira.
They took a one-shot lead over Johannes Vierman, Alejandro Del Rey, and James
Jay J Spawn.
Rory and Neiman and Adam Scott opened the day two shots back.
J.J. was just one under on the day through 13.
He made a two on the 14th.
Birded 15, birded 16 didn't get the par 5, 17th.
Hit the 18th in two to shoot 67.
Burdies four of his last five.
Took a two-shot lead, but just for a moment, Manuel Alvira,
while JJ was still standing on the 18th green,
had a put from just nine feet for Eagle,
rolled that in, that left him up into a tie with Spawn.
A lot of people were birdying 18.
It looked like Elvira could go and just birdie 18, the par five,
and go on to win the BMW PGA.
He proceeded to hit iron off the T, which I did go back and look.
It looks like he did do that.
He laid up all three days.
I don't know what he hit on the other days,
but he laid up from 215 earlier in the week.
Today was, I believe, from 254, just 220-something to the front.
But from the fairway laid up into a bunker,
hits it from the bunker over the green
gets relief from the grandstand
in the drop area way too friendly
European tour drop area
they've been known for being better better with
that wasn't friendly
it's good grass like usually they'll put it in like
the worst grass but that's what the RNA does
they put it in the bad grass
it was that little square and it was
like A I don't know where you're going to put it
I would have loved to have seen it way way over on the right
so you had to chip more straight towards the water
Like it would have been a nightmare for us, but I don't think for a pro.
I mean, I guess he did chip it into the bunker.
He just chipped it straight into the bunker, you know,
needed to hole it then just to get into a playoff now,
hit it to five feet, six inches, missed that putt for solo second,
dropped back into a tie at 15 under with Aaron Rye,
Adam Scott, and Rory McElroy.
It was unbelievable.
It was unbelievable.
And we'll get to JJ Spawn here, but it was, I mean,
he's the 294th ranked player in the world.
it would have been obviously a career defining win. Eagles the 610th yard par 517th
and then turns around and does this on 18. And I don't know, man. If you are a professional golfer,
you got to be able to have a 240 shot that you got to just miss a creek. Like all you had to do
with that second shot was not hit it into the creek. I just didn't see that as an overly threatening
shot. And I know he put it in play the previous two days, but it's,
just a, it was a shocking, shocking sequence of events.
I think maybe even backing up or zooming out a little bit, I think part of what made it so shocking
was how great the golf tournament was to watch in the first place.
And it was just, I'm up in my parents in like central Wisconsin here,
we're doing some bunch of home improvement projects this weekend.
And I was like painting this morning, turned that on.
I think my heart rate was like 36.
Watch, I was so, I've never been more relaxed, just watching like this great broadcast on a just
you know familiar golf course that's playing really fun great cast of characters big names you know
all over the place rory and adam scott and all these guys kind of throwing haymakers
erin rise doing his thing j jay spawn is you know got all the president's cup kind of implications and
then manuel elvira is like this kind of oh my god he looks like he's going to be the guy that does it is he
gonna is he going to outlast all these guys and it was just this i i hadn't watched a tournament like
that for a while that was just this kind of ticking time bomb over like two hours. You know,
it was just like a really good two hours kind of building to the unfortunate series of events
for him. But man, it was just a thrilling watch. It was kind of every, that's like everything I'm
looking for from a golf tournament this morning. It was, it was outstanding. I couldn't agree more.
It looked like Rye was in complete control for a while. He laid up. He laid up. What's he doing?
The commentators are talking, they're basically talking shit about him.
Uh, yeah, I'll, I'll read some of these out.
He's not going to do it though.
I'll be some, I'll be very surprised if this man has a crack.
He's just not that type of golfer, but it's a wedge.
It's a wedge.
Sometimes you just have a crack and I reckon this is one of those times, but it's a wedge.
Uh, I mean, like, and I feel like those guys can just say, I'm assuming it was radar and, in, in cold,
was there like it was basically one of those things of like if you have an accent i think you can just
say whatever you want for sure yeah and uh i mean rory was hitting seeds off the tea on 17 there
elvira's eagle on 17 was unbelievable second shot in there foxy like playing the exact opposite way
from from rye and just putting it putting it all on the table it was they had they had great crowd
shots like european tour productions i was i was like i was like man this is so
freaking good and then they lost the audio for like the last 25 minutes wasn't the worst thing in the
which maybe was even additive too yeah my my view is of course very distracted i was like oh are
they doing this on purpose because like it kind of seems like something european tour would do like
yeah big our biggest tournament we're going down the stretch no commentators and it was like it was
like it drew me in like it attracted me to the tv in terms of like all right well i don't have somebody
to just like i can't casually watch it right now and hear what they're saying i need to actually be
paying great attention to this it was like and like it was the best i've seen wentworth play in a decade i mean
it was just burned out and all the right spots and there was actual texture instead of it just
looking like a soggy kind of tpc super greened out thing that could be anywhere in the uk
uh the i mean the the trees are there like they're they're in proportion they had some great
crowd shots like these long drawn out like 30 40 second crowd shots of just
Like you're like, man, this is a big ass tournament.
And it's 100%.
Spahn had some great stuff in his his post round comments,
just about how much he's enjoyed going over to the UK and seeing all that.
And, you know, we can get into some of the red ass that he had post-presidents'
Cup selections and everything.
But it was such a weird fun leaderboard too.
Like Uncle Yost was there.
Foxy Fitz, you know, McElroy.
And then you got, yeah, you got Verman, who's a third.
34-year-old American who I was like, wait, this guy's American.
Johan is a chairman is American.
It turns out he was born to a Dutch, a Dutch father and an Indonesian mother.
He sounds kind of like a Xander Schaftley hybrid kind of thing going on.
Yeah, it was just, it was delightful, man.
Like that's everything I'm looking for out of a Sunday morning viewing experience.
Couldn't agree more.
Watching Rory just hunt too.
Like Rory looks like a big game hunter today.
couldn't get a couple of those putts to go down the stretch.
But yeah, the shots he was shaping off the T's hit that unbelievable recovery out of the
other trees on I forget what a whole that was.
12.
12.
Yeah.
It was T.C., you mentioned the camera shots.
Not to go there before we even like get to JJ spawn, but that truly like that's part of it with
with Alvira on 18.
They're like shooting between two people and the bunker.
I mean, it was just awesome.
I just, yeah, I was I was glowing watching that this morning.
It was like you said, it was like, I don't know if I've very much a me problem probably,
but I just feel like I've kind of missed this event the last couple years.
You know, it's just it's kind of a time of year where you feel like kind of letting your hair down here in America.
You get through the playoffs and you get through, you know, you're kind of gearing up for a Ryder Cup or whatever.
And it's just kind of an easy one to, easy one to say like, oh, I went to the farmer's market that morning or whatever.
You know, it's just an easy one to miss.
And today, yeah, I was just completely locked in and it made me regret missing it the last couple years.
I just loved it.
Which to our European listeners, like also American football rules everything.
Like you flip over into football season and it's, you know, and it doesn't go head to head with it is kind of what makes it part of the delight is it is good morning viewing.
But yeah, you switch your brain, you know, not only into the team events as well, but like for us, it's like other projects and video stuff and things we've put off because we've.
We've been running a tough stretch all the way through the end of the PJ tour season.
But it does always, the end just always slaps.
Like, there's always something weird that happens.
Back to back, reachable par five.
It might be manufactured a little bit, but it always works.
Dude, that 18th hole feels like you're watching like TGL or something.
It's just like, it's so bad.
It's good.
Like the worse it's gotten, the better it's gotten this entertainment.
100%.
It is, uh, the challenge is not subtle.
It is, it is black and white.
But man, it made for some great, great drama.
The wind was down a little bit today.
So everybody, you know, pretty much everybody except Perrin Rai could have a crack, could have a go.
It was just, I mean, it was just great.
Like you're, I love, love, love, when tournaments like that, when you can kind of just feel it building, like the fever pitch building to the final group.
When you're just watching guy after guy after guy try to hit that shot on 18 and how's it going to go and how's it going to go?
And you're just kind of building all this context.
so that when the leader finally gets there,
you know exactly what he has to do.
You've watched 10 other people try to do it.
It's just great on a do-or-die-hole like that.
I just can't get enough laying up into a bunker.
Like when he did, I just gasped.
And then afterwards, you know,
his older brother, Nacho,
he puts his arm around him and they're walking down
and he gives him a really nice,
like it was a really nice moment,
but it was almost like,
I almost felt like it was me and Neil.
And Neilins, instead of blowing it long over the green, he laid it up into a bunker.
And it was like, I tried to do the right thing.
I know.
I tried to do the right thing.
Yeah.
Spahn had some good quotes about that, too.
Like when he lost the players to Rory, basically Rory kind of doing that same thing and just being like,
yo, this is going to all lead to something better.
You got to go through moments like this, you know, yada, yada, yada.
So, yeah, hopefully it is that.
Hopefully it's not like a big scar tissue thing.
It's a learn from it moment.
It reminded me of like as a kid trying to break 80 and just being in such amazing position and finding the most psychotic way to blow it.
Like there's no possible way I have I have played this hole this poorly and made a triple when all I needed was a, like I would do that so often.
I would bogey like the last five holes to shoot exactly 80.
Just an impossible spot and you feel the blood just rushed from your face.
like how did i just do that is how i felt in that moment watching that for him yeah 100% like
i don't think the guys ever won a pro event like anywhere no it's been like eight or nine years right
i mean it's 30 yeah he's just kind of just been a middling
you know pro out there which like is you know in 2024 he had a hit a t4 with the magical
can you open i mean like that's the kind of finishes we're talking about here
And this is truly like this is the diversion of the players.
Yeah.
It is such a context builder though, right?
I mean, it's like next time he's in contention, I'm going to feel something.
I promise you that.
I'll be rude for it.
Please ship it next time.
Can I say speaking of rooting for guys, I want to throw this one at you guys.
I was thinking about it watching Aaron Rye.
And I was, I think he's in very, very exclusive company for me, which is somebody that I genuinely, I do root for.
he seems like truly the
the most lovely guy in professional golf
great story seems like a great family
couldn't be more in on on Aaron Rye
the result absolutely hate watching and play golf
I hate everything about it I hate the way he plays golf
I hate his swing I hate his pre-shot
I hate all of it and I was just curious if I was trying to
I went through the top like 300 guys in the world
I'm like are there anybody else like that that I just
I root for but I just really despise
watching i don't know if you guys had any top of mind i don't feel nearly as strongly as you
apparently feel and i'm going to say it and you're going to be like what he's no that's why we're
it all those like great guy well liked obviously has been through a lot like putting all that aside
i think i root for the guy like i want him to succeed i used to be a kind of one of like my favorite
players way back in the day gary woodland i just don't sure i just don't like the i just don't like it
I can't explain why, but I have no ill will towards him.
I don't want him to not succeed at all.
I just don't like, yeah, I just don't like the style of the walk that I just,
not my, not appealing to me.
It's low energy.
Sure.
I think that's fair.
Yeah.
A couple of nominees I had, uh, Benjamin Booms.
Oh, he was, he was going to be who I said.
I don't, don't love, don't love everything he's got going on, but man, he just seems like a, a
wonderful guy.
and I have enjoyed kind of his his good past couple years.
Our good friend Justin Lauer, not my favorite golf swing in the world,
just who, you know, not going to find anybody who roots harder for Justin Lauer,
but it doesn't look great.
Akshai, you know, the putting thing is, it's not fun to watch,
but I do want them to win.
But I don't love the putting.
I don't love the, you know, there's just some things that I'm not totally into.
I'll tell you who's getting there for me.
I mean, I root for him like above,
virtually anyone else is speak well like just the macro sorry the micro like the
specifics of of watching him get set up and everything like I'm not not loving what I'm seeing
like I like watching the yeah living and dying with every bounce when you're like T53
as well it's just it's not the same like exhilaration that it was you know when uh when he was winning
shit yeah yeah well like rise rise the
perfect guy for that too where it's very much like this guy's not I don't think this is good for
golf I don't know I just I wanted to like I really wanted to win the tournament today that he just lays
up on 18 it just doesn't push his chips in and I'm like dude come on man what are we doing at 15 under
everybody behind you's got the two par fives to play like what are we doing you got to ship that man I
I, you know, you try to put go into their head of like, what could be the reason why?
Tweener could be out of the rough, couldn't cut it enough would be the reasons why, but it's still like, I think it is hard to really root.
Like the math equation, smart like, you know, don't say the guy's name, smart to play here to play the averages might be to lay it up there.
If you'd want to avoid making a bogey, sure, but like we're going to root for people that are going for the win.
Yeah, me.
70 second hole. It's just that simple.
Especially when like, yeah, easy comp, but then Foxy just steps up.
It just, I mean, just rips one to the 15 feet or whatever.
It's just yeah, like that's it.
If you want to hit the water it seeds off the tea on both those holes as well.
True. True.
Anyways, should probably circle back on JJ Spawn.
One of the BMW PGA, uh, president's cup.
For the last five.
Yeah.
It was very impressive.
and made easy work of 18 hitting the green in two and almost almost made his eagle putt as well just about a revolution short what an outrageous pin on 18 by the way
they're barely on the green they kept showing like the wide shot and i kept like just screaming to just he'm like look at where that flag is it's like that's barely even golf it's awesome i think rory had a poli or had a had a wasabi and he was off the green he was like kind of it was like kind of backstopping uh because adam scott was in the bunker and
But obviously really couldn't market because it was off the green.
It had to be like a seven footer from off the green.
I don't know.
Such a sick shot in there.
I'm going to look up the actual distance because.
But yeah, JJ has some comments afterward said, you know,
and I'm paraphrasing here that Snedd told him he was the odd man out,
said you can quote me on that.
He said it was a very short phone call, 45 second phone call.
And he said he was led to believe that he was going to be picked for the team,
which I think was consistent with some things you had heard as well.
TC before this, before this victory.
So a little bit of an FU, a little bit of a, you know, I don't know.
It's the, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's
going to end up mattering.
I could, of course, be wrong on that.
But, you know, a little bit, he gets, he gets his moment, gets his FU moment.
And, uh, you know, it could be some egg on, on Snetker's face in a way if you choose to
look at that way, I think.
Yeah, I think a couple, I guess, points of, of context, if you're, for, for,
both positive and negative. I mean, he withdrew from the tour championship with a shoulder injury
wasn't playing great golf in the couple weeks leading up to that. Who knows how much of that
was kind of the question mark. I mean, he was asked about it and kind of said, you know, I think
at the time, like, hey, I think I just need a day or two and I'm, I'm going to be good. Don't know
if that was enough uncertainty to kind of be a stay away. Don't know if the recent poor play was
enough to be, you know, a stay away. He was, I did have to go back and like, I kind of forgot
he was one of the American bright spots at the Ryder Cup on the flip side of it. You know, I don't
think it's like a, this guy doesn't have any experience. This guy can't show up in the,
in the moment type of thing. He did play pretty good at Bethpage. So I don't know. It just
feels like kind of a coin flip to me. But yeah, it certainly makes it makes it a little more interesting
for him to go out and do it today.
And good for him, man.
You know, it clearly is not on the same page as Snedeker.
So not a, the breakup is mutual type situation.
It's not how I took it.
Yeah, I think it's tough for us.
Like we're constantly banging the table for new blood.
Yeah.
And then when the 36 year old guy that, you know, has had a decent season,
not a great season gets left off,
you can't then point back at sned acre and say, you know, like this is, this is a travesty.
Look at his game.
I mean, his stats and everything.
Like he's like the putting has definitely been been the issue this year, which is crazy after having watched him at Oakmont and last year at various places.
And like he putted his butt off.
Largely, I gained a ton of respect for him today.
Like even more so than like I feel like I learned more about JJ spawn today than I did even at the US Open.
It was like just having like you know coming off of of tour championship and all of that and the snub and then just making it a point to go over there end his season on a really positive note and kind of bookend it and say you know what like I regardless of me making the tournament or the the the P cup or not I I close this out on my terms.
I really really appreciated that and by all accounts he's you know he's very welcome over there like you know solid.
I know you always love the British press and all of our friends over there.
And by all accounts, everybody's like, dude, he's just, he's like, he's good to people over there.
He's delightful.
So listen, I appreciate that.
Unlike Brian the butcher.
Exactly.
Exactly.
Did you read the anecdote about his wife wanting to get a place over there?
They basically, like, they got really obsessed with certain, like, British TV shows, I think.
and his wife was talking about like if you win a tournament like you need to buy me a cottage in the
Cotswolds because they like they love the Cotswolds and he was like that's out that he's like that's
outrageous like that's not proportionate to to winning a tournament like I'm not doing that she's like
okay well if you win a major you got to buy me a cottage in the Cotswolds and then he won the US
open and now he's like yeah so we're still like in negotiation she said to be Zillow links all the
time like he like clearly that they love it over there and he had a lot of great comments about
you know, wanting to be more of a worldwide player and experience more golf outside of America.
And it was, yeah, I'm with you, T.C. It was great, a great day for JJ Spawn and and burgeoning JJ
Spawn fans like us. Well, just, just a great day for like golf generally, right? Like, you know,
JJ Spawn, Aaron Rye, Adam Scott, Rory, Uncle Yost, you know, Foxy. Like that's, that's, that's,
that's worldwide golf right there. You know, Johnny.
Rombo pretty far down the leaderboard.
I was waiting for another nationality there too.
Well, it's basically everything that we're begging for for these for these American guys.
It's like, hey, you have a little bit like just a shred of a responsibility to go support the game worldwide,
especially after you've won a major in the last, you know, one, two, three years.
And so it's refreshing to hear that from him.
Tough, tough for when you got a home president's cup.
Tough ask this year for anyone that's on the president's.
Yeah, I'm not saying these guys need to go over and play, play the president's cup.
But there's, there's no reason.
If you have a strategic alliance, there should be a lot of figure out a better spot on the calendar.
Like I've loved the Scottish Open how that has worked as a co-sanctioned event.
I know it's not quite this.
There are some people that might shudder at the idea of making this co-s sanction just because so many less DP World Tour players would be able to get in.
We wouldn't have the manual Evera kind of story there.
but I just would like to see more of the top U.S. players be incentivized to play in this.
When it's a one-off and it's not going towards FedEx Cup or whatever the future of that is,
it's unlikely.
It's a tougher ask, and that's why we don't see as many players go.
But it's only, I think, a 9 million euro purse, I believe.
Like, it just, it's a hard, it's a harder ask when you're playing for 20 million in your own backyard.
But I would like to see more guys play in it for sure.
Any thoughts to just how things might change?
how in kind of when we get to 28, 29, we start getting into a little bit of a revamp season.
I mean, it seems like more time in the fall to carve out space for this.
But again, it's like you still need to incentivize guys to go do it.
I don't know if either of you had any thoughts on how we might pour a little more gas on this event.
It kind of, it like, I guess this event's been in May before this event's been kind of jumped around.
I feel like this is the first time of the year where it feels like the DP World Tour schedule has momentum
and they just announced their schedule for 27, which I can't believe we're doing this again.
I mean, I know this has been announced for a while, but like we're doing the Ned Bank in Australian Open,
like doing two.
We're doing Africa's major in the Australian Open at Kingston Heath during the same fucking week again, guys.
Like, I think that one could probably be avoided at some point,
especially when you have two TBDs on the calendar.
as it stands right now.
I don't see the hero Indian Open on there either.
Correct.
Which maybe that's a precursor to, you know, hey,
that's either one of those TBDs or they're going to move that more to the fall.
I've got that DP World India Championship.
And then this probably goes into some of the stuff just about the few,
you know, the Dubai and Abu Dhabi and what the remainder of the schedule looks like
even for this year.
with the race to Dubai.
Yeah, and Matt Fitzpatrick had some comments on that.
Also of note, I mean, really strong finish for Matt Fitzpatrick as well this week,
finished inside the top 10.
We have talked a lot about Matt this year.
Three wins, probably the best season of his career.
And Arcos has been a huge part of how he and Eduardo Molinari analyze his game and build his strategy.
Watching these guys play a place like Wentworth, especially when the conditions get challenging,
is a good reminder of how much goes into figuring out what shot.
you actually need to hit wind temperature elevation slope all of it changes how far that golf ball's
actually going to travel it's why we love the arc oh smart laser it's the only range finder that
automatically adjust for your plays like distance for real-time weather including wind and gusts along with
slope temperature humidity and altitude you got AI strategy in there as well it takes it another step
it knows your game it knows the golf course the conditions you're playing in the trouble around you
and helps you figure out the smartest club and target for every single shot we got the president
Cup coming up at Medina this week.
It's going to be another course for strategy
and knowing where to hit it is going to be incredibly important.
I've been using Arcos all year, tracking my game with the Arcos Air.
I love the amount of information I'm getting about my game now.
The new app has taken it to a new level.
I don't know if you guys saw this yet, but the round recap,
I don't know if it's out with everybody yet.
And you can go back and see how the whole played.
It does it with heat maps around the greens and everything.
It's just a visual interpretation of each shot you hit.
It keeps track of your running strokes game.
throughout the round. It's just awesome. It doesn't stop with just telling you what happened. It tells you
what to do about it. It gives you areas to focus on, gives you personalized practice plans, drills,
pre-round warm-ups, all of it. And you don't have to do anything during the round. It records all
of your shots with a simple device that you wear in your pocket. It's hard to say enough great
things about this product. And one of my regular buddies I'm playing with Phil, he appreciated his last
shout out. He got on there. He got one because he heard me raving about it so much in our Friday
game. And he's loving it as well. So I can go to Arkansas.
Arcosgolf.com, A-R-C-C-O-S-Golf.com, promo code N-L-U-15 will save you 15%. Again, Arcosgolf.com, N-L-U-15 will save you 15%.
I might see if I can get my AI strategy to hack Solly's AI strategy and just start really getting some agents in there and just really bested with his, messing with his data. I think that might be by only way I'm going to beat you.
I'll tell you, I had a nice round on Friday. And like three or four times in the round, I just was like,
is there wind up there? Should it be this direction? Just check my phone super quick.
Just to tell me what club it was recommending. And it was like, all right, I'm going to go with that.
And it was super helpful. It was insanely helpful. I'm just so impressed with it. So to Matt Fitzpatrick's comments.
He said, as it stands right now, I would say that I'm not comfortable. No, I would not be that comfortable.
It's obviously frustrating that the decision hasn't been made. So you can plan on what's going on.
But I understand there's obviously a lot of moving parts to that. It's obviously difficult to make these decisions.
I think if the DP World Tour does go,
I'm sure that they've had the best advice possible
and what that looks like as things stand right now.
I wouldn't necessarily be too keen on going.
He's, of course,
talking about the final two events of the season,
which are the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yoss Links
from November 5th to 8th,
as well as the Jeremiah Gulf Estates
is set to host the finale on the Earth course,
November 12th through 15th.
Welcome to Earth.
Some examples. Formula One moved its Bahrain Grand Prix to Malaysia. It called off the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. And, you know, as I decided those as additional reasons for the DP World Tour to explore alternate alternative host locations. So could be a kind of inauspicious ending to the DP World Tour season with what's going on currently in the Middle East. I got to admit, I haven't put a lot of thought of that until it was commented on in recent weeks.
Let's just shut it down, man. Give it to pay.
You just put the race to be five.
Yeah.
I test.
300 points ahead of,
ahead of Rory right now.
Uh, he withdrew this week with a wrist injury.
He didn't see in that.
It took me a while to decode your tweet about may he, may he get healthy and may he
get to Dubai first was, uh, I was, what the heck fuck are you talking about?
Oh, race to Dubai.
Got it.
Got it.
Got it.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I agree.
I agree.
The schedule just kind of DP world tour while I was trying to answer.
your question, Deage, like reading the tea leaves, it looks like they've moved, the French
open leads into the Rider Cup next year. So they've got the Rider Cup in the 17th to 19th to September
at a dare manner. And then they've got the BMW PGA the week after that as well, which typically
BMW PGA would be before that. And then the Dunhill links would be after the Rider Cup.
Hey, Scotty, I know you just got beat historically bad at the Rider Cup. How about hanging around
for another week.
Yeah, what do you think?
You're already here.
Yeah, you're already here.
Come through.
And then they moved the, they moved the Irish Open, which is the K Club, unfortunately.
They moved that up to the first week in July.
Ahead of the Scottish.
Ahead of the Scottish.
That's how it used to be.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then, which is funny because that's the closing swing.
And then the closing swing then leads into the back nine, which feels kind of strange.
but the Singapore opens coming back.
It's kind of like the back-to-back part-fives.
Yeah.
It's the real back.
Those last two,
that's actually the back nine.
The rest is the closing swing.
I mean,
do we think the DP World Tour finishes this season?
Like,
is that,
that's where I feel like this has not been
as big of a topic of conversation
as maybe it should be.
I mean,
it's impossible to predict at this moment,
but.
Yeah,
I have,
I would reiterate impossible.
to predict.
He should just play it
Winworth again.
Run it back.
God, sign me up for that.
It's interesting.
Sounds great.
Make it a two-week tournament.
Make it,
you know,
a,
you know,
a hundred,
what is it,
144 whole tournament.
Yeah,
I like that too.
The mega conclusion.
The Rombo situation.
I'll get out in front of this,
guys.
I don't know you guys.
Probably didn't want to talk about it,
but I think we should.
It's not good.
It's not good.
You know,
know I early after you know seeing the DFL through 36 I was like you know what maybe it's
time to put his dude status under review and I put some time thinking into it and we will not be
doing that tonight he is still he's still a dude I am going to need to expand this sample size
if we get to the end of next year and it looks anything similar to this past year it will be
it will most certainly be he's got a wedge in his hand tc this is the time this is the time to have a
and he's just not that type of player.
He just won't do it.
I can't imagine like coming around next spring
and being like proud and excited and feeling like it was a good decision
to have sold by John Romstock.
I just don't, it's as lowest like I'm not, I'm not doing that.
I'm just not doing that.
He's still an incredible golfer.
I think the live thing going away potentially, you know,
could be what he needs to come back and just beat people's asses
on the DP World Tour next year.
Solly, you are right.
He is a dude.
He's a dude who got beat handily by Richard Sterney.
Of course.
45-year-old president.
Be careful, T.C.
Be careful, T.C.
Victor Perez, you know, once in former clique, Victor Perez, possibly still a clique.
I'm seeing a guy, Aki Streedom, stridum, T.C.
He beat Rom's ass.
Get it in. Get it in while you can. That's totally fine.
Dan, don't call me Ray Bradbury.
Ash Mansell.
Yeah. These guys beat your guys ass, Sully.
It's not good. It's not good.
You know, and listen, other guys are rising up in spite of the live stuff.
You know, Waco played well this week. He was wearing his Torque stuff still, but he played well.
Until Sunday, right?
Yeah, just complete non-factor.
where we see this one before.
To clarify, he's my boy just because I think he's good at golf.
Like, Rom has his stock as like a likable person and person I'm rooting for has gone to zero.
Like that, that's not what we're saying here.
That is just to, you could maybe throw Rom on the list even like before this whole thing of
guys that I really like I respect his career, but I don't necessarily enjoy why.
Yeah, I don't like seeing him come out of the bullpen.
But what, what, but did you feel that way prior to this heel turn?
Because I feel like we spent the spring of 2023 being like, all right, this dude is,
you never even hear him talk about his swing.
Like he just, he was, we called him the buoy because he showed up every single fucking
week.
He did great interviews.
Everyone.
A lot of people did.
He did great interviews, had great insight.
It was an extremely thoughtful person.
Like this didn't start with it.
You know, obviously he had the temper, but it was kind of endearing.
because there was a lot to like about him,
which is what made the heel turn so surprising, I think.
I feel like his swings got to be shorter and shorter, though.
More than more gold and tea-ish.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, I think they're part and parcel.
It's happened over the last 24 to 36 months,
really since he won the Masters, honestly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
John Rom, right now, I'm going to pull up his data golf ranking.
he is eight
he's 18th in the date of golf rankings
where
rolling fast will he be
at the end of next season
let's put this on the record
I'll go the opposite here
I'll say he'll be better than 18th
yeah I think so too
I think that's fair
he's got too much pride for
I say he's
you're saying
at September 20th
2027
yeah
so right after the Ryder Cup
of next year
I will say he's eighth.
Okay.
I'll say he's third.
I'll triple down on this.
I think he's.
Okay.
So everybody's buying on some level.
Well, that's not fun.
No, that's exactly why we did that.
I had to put your guys feet to the fire here.
Like, is it a sinking ship?
He is not good, Solly.
Oh, it's definitely not good, do you see?
I just said he would be better than 18th.
I didn't say he would be even a top 10 player.
I think that would be the Mendoza.
line for dude status, right?
I would, I mean, no, I think if, if you're going to spend multiple years outside the top
five, I think your dude status is going to be out.
But that's my point is he, he just did it for too long of a period for me to think this
is anything other than a blip on the radar.
We'll see.
We'll see.
We'll see.
On to the bill.
Too many, too many exemptions to these, to these.
These exemptions are lasted way too long.
I'm just glad that Luke LV and Sali are on the right.
Exactly.
100%.
And PCA.
Yeah, that does hurt PCA came through today DH came through today
wouldn't he hit a over off your catcher or something no I was hoping he would I was
hoping he would Trevino I think is shut down for the year he's bitch like 15 times
this year I'm gonna be on rates and barrels tomorrow to put a to put a tie a bow in
the Cincinnati red season I'm very much looking forward to that that's great
at the Biltmore the first ever built more Neil Shipley took a one
shot lead into the final round over Ben Coles. Ricky Castillo came out on fire, played his first
six holes in five under. He took the lead early, but could not keep pace. A lot of low scores coming in.
JT. Poston had a putt for 59. It missed. He shot 60. Ben James got in with a 61 to post 24 under
under. But Jacob Bridgman just behind him, wrapped up a 61 of his own to shoot 26 under par and lock up
his second win of the season. Not as much egg on Brantznetikers.
face when your guy wins, you know, and one of the few Presidents'ons Cup guys that's actually
playing this week takes care of business there. I think gives it a little more solid footing
coming into this week. As well as, as well as Coyven finishing the top five as well.
It was what I was going to say about the spawn thing is like, yeah, it's one thing if
Bridgman and Coyven both like missed the cut or something. But it's, yeah, again, kind of a
coin flip. But Bridgman, I think you love to see it. I love to see it. I feel like I said a lot of
a lot of big words after that RIV win as this guy is just like an all-around fill-up-the-cup
type of guy. His floor's still been pretty high. We haven't really seen the peak weeks.
He had a little spurt mid-season where the putter kind of cooled off and he kind of became a
little bit of a forgotten man, but he's been playing really good golf. Obviously, I'll click
today. I hate when, I don't know if hates the right word, when like somebody becomes really known
for one thing. And they just every time they show him, oh, this guy's the best.
Oh, look at this guy. Oh, you know he's going to make this. It's kind of like Brandtzyker was.
It was. But man, he does fill it up. It is, it is like every time they go. I'm like, damn, that does look good coming
off the butter. And I don't know. I just, I know he's not the most exciting guy in the world. I know he's not
the flashies guy in the world. But tons of respect for somebody who came up, you know, kind of came up early.
I think we can maybe talk more about this when we get.
to the championship challenger track sort of conversation. But playing his way into all of those
elevated signature events and then kind of figuring out your career there is just a, I have a ton of
respect for people that that can do that, man. That's a really, really hard thing to do to be young
and be playing really, really high level golf in big ass events. I know this is not a big ass event,
but he has done that all year. And I just think it's very validating to see him get another dub.
I think he's just an all-around good-ass player.
And it made me even more pumped about the President's Cup.
So here, here.
Shout out to Jacob Bridgman.
Scott,
top putters in the world over the last year.
Scott Vincent,
Sam Burns,
Alex Noren,
Jacob Bridgman,
Mad McNeely,
Scottie Sheffler.
I was just fucking sick.
That's your top putters in the world.
And he makes so many birdies.
And he said he was,
what,
first or second on tour in par four scoring?
I think T.C. as well.
So.
Yeah.
And then he's got.
like he made 28 birdies this week
I think the other thing this like I was
pleased to see
like you say it's not a big event
and it's not it's a first year event
but the guys from the Carolinas
showed up and like you could tell they tried to
like he's from not that far from
Asheville right he's from
the Greenville area
and you know like that's a big
time I'm sure he had a lot of friends and family
in the area and all that
same thing with JT Poston who shot
60 today and finish T5.
You know, I think that's a, it's cool for those guys to get to show up and support, you know,
a region and area that a lot of those guys spend a lot of time in.
Like, I know a lot of those sea island guys have homes up in the North Carolina
mountains now.
And, and yeah, so good stuff on that front.
And then, you know, just, just, I don't know, like, I think it's a, there's really not a lot
like PGA tour golf this September.
It's, you know, like it seems like normally we get off to a pretty steady start in the
fall.
And this, this fall seems like it's, this was the first fall event.
And it doesn't seem like we're going to have anything else coming because of the
president's cup for, for another couple weeks.
So it's, you know, it's kind of like the one, the one chance at some PGA tour golf here.
Yeah, it was a fun, it kind of as fun of a board as it could have been.
I mean, Shipley going for one.
A lot of names of some, some kind of fringe dudes.
Castillo, are we going to see you
breakthrough? Ben James, who just is
can become
second straight 61
on a Sunday. He can become the hottest
player in the world so quickly.
He might be the hottest player in the world
at multiple times during any
course of a week.
I don't even know if he's a microwave man.
It might be an air friar or something.
The oven.
The air fryer.
The air friar.
Yeah, careful. It's going to
be quick. Get you those chicken nuggets
It's quick here, Charlie.
Look alive.
The blow torch.
He's just a ball hitter, man.
Yeah, he is.
A ball hitter.
It's, he was first in strokes gain T to Green this week, second in approach, and fills
it up with the putter as well.
Like, are we like, are we talking about this guy for the Ryder Cup this time next year?
I mean, I feel like we maybe have not given this guy the run that we probably maybe should
have coming out of PJ Tor U and the success he's had.
again, it hasn't been like the most amazing finishes because he seems to have one bad round,
even in some of his best weeks. But I don't know, man. It's hard to see. I don't see a lot of
other like Americans coming up with, I mean, Coyvin aside, been a little while since we've had
somebody to kind of reach a jet stream of potential. Like he's hitting hitting the Noss on very
quickly. He is maybe he didn't have quite enough stats to qualify for that Aaron Rye conversation earlier.
because it's not exactly like aesthetically beautiful.
But I do root for him.
I like spent a time with him at the Walker Cup at St. Andrews,
getting to know him a tiny bit.
He was famously in our film about the Walker Cup.
He was the guy that would not eat Caesar salad,
solid birds of my guy, with you there.
But yeah, it's got to be the iron play, I guess.
Just like looking at the stats, it seems like he is,
when it's clicking, man,
he, yeah, he looks like he might be the best player in the world.
And what it's not, it gets bad, like, pretty quickly.
So I don't know.
I think that's kind of part of just being a young pro, I guess, is like trying to harness
that and just raise the floor and figure out how to play PGA tour golf courses.
But, man, it has looked crazy, impressive in spurts.
It's just, it's kind of electric when you get a guy like that, you know, it's like,
I don't feel that way about, Coivin just feels like he's, he kind of cruises, like his, his,
his floor is pretty high, he's pretty steady.
He's like kind of built to be just like week to week pro golfer.
Ben James seems like he's pushing his chips in every week and you don't quite know what
hand is coming back, which is kind of fun in itself.
Yeah, he's, he seems like he's just punishes par fives.
He's birdie or better on 65% of his par fives this year, which seems decent.
I don't know what the floor is.
Jesus.
I don't even think I need to.
I think that's pretty good.
It seems like a long iron menace.
I hope the 17th hole from this week doesn't count in that.
That whole pissed me off this week.
That was such a joke.
That was a Nicholas special.
I was just a completely out of play bunker on the right.
Guys just bombing it down there and hitting like short irons in was just,
I don't know if we can call that with a par five.
I'm lifting in place.
How about the preemptive lifting in place before the week started?
multiple threats of breaking 60 on a Sunday.
I just,
I feel like,
yeah,
we got to do something,
guys.
We got to do something.
But yeah,
I mean,
Ben James,
like,
Dees,
to your point,
he had the T4 at the Punta Kana,
but then if he doesn't kind of gas it there on Sunday in Detroit,
you're looking at four top five finishes in,
like,
you know,
a T4,
a third at Windham,
a second this week.
Like he's,
he's he's knocking on the door and he'll probably win this fall if this continues.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm also, I'm fascinated.
I mean, who knows?
Like, obviously, very, very high pedigree and has played, played real, real golf tournaments.
But it's like, I'll be curious what happens if he plays his way into, you know, kind of that, that challenger track.
Like, what happens at Riviera?
What happens at Sawgrass?
What happens at some of these?
You mean, the championship track.
Sorry, yes, yes, yes.
That's what I meant.
If he starts playing some of the like premier golf courses,
I'll be,
I'll be curious to see what,
what happens with that game.
Where he can actually separate based on approach play.
Or he can get separated out is,
is what I'm saying.
Like,
it seems like my man might just be firing at every,
every pin.
But who knows?
I'm buying, dude.
I just think his ceiling's very high.
And I don't,
I don't feel like I say that about a lot of guys coming fresh out of school.
And I,
It's easy to get gun shy on that with what we saw from Dunlap and Sargent in terms of some of the top players.
But he just seems a lot, a lot more complete.
He just, he looks like a little child with a, like in the, he needs a beard.
I think he should grow a beard.
I don't know.
I think that would make him look a little bit less like, you know, kind of somebody to fish out of water.
Yeah.
So I think he's, he's a good enough iron, like he's a great iron player, really good long iron player.
And that's why I feel like I respect him more.
than just a, you know, an Aldrich Pock eater, ball speed imposter type.
Totally.
I think that's totally fair.
And it looks like, I mean, for his electric is this, and up and down as his game is,
he just looks like his heart rate is just staying completely steady.
Not, he seems pretty unfazed by, by anything that happens right in front of him, Eagle or
double right in front of him.
He just gets right back up and goes.
But it does remind me that the Nolangup podcast is brought to you by Woop.

I forgot it's health span day.
I had to check.
What do you have?
You're good.
39.5.
So we're good.
Just a tick over my actual age, but it's coming down rapidly.
So check that, put that on that same calendar in by a year from year from now.
We're going to be, we're going to be under that number.
Sully, any notables in the P-cup internationals field there in Asheville?
I didn't, I didn't dig in enough.
I'm looking at it.
We got Nico, Nico shot 73, 75, plus.
six. Not exactly coming in on form.
What?
Can I just throw this out at you guys now?
How long Lee? Get him on the team.
What would the line have to be for you to take the internet?
Like if there was a point spread on the President's Cup,
what would it have to be for you to take the internationals?
Oh, God.
What is the, do they?
There's 30 points.
There's 30 points.
Like this week.
Yes.
Like right now.
Okay.
Gosh.
I don't even know if they'd do this, but.
Yeah, I don't even know what it would be like plus.
Be like four and a half, I think would be like where I was in a start it.
Four neighborhood.
Yeah, I think I'd need a full five, though.
And they would have to give me the ability to sub some guys in.
You got to change your team too.
T.C., there's no snubs.
There's no snubs on the internationals that go around.
just not. There's no snubs.
There was nobody to snub.
Exactly. Even hits at Sunnet, he,
like he didn't play well. Maybe they were working on
stuff, though. My guy Taylor
Pendrith missed the cut.
So, you know, Bez missed the cut.
Just not a lot of good
vibes rolling in.
They're trying to get there early, maybe.
Yeah. That's true.
Plenty of time to break that down this week.
We'll have a full preview of the President's Cup coming out
on Tuesday. But
not a great vibe going into the actual
competition part of it. I'm looking forward to the President's Cup, but yeah, we'll, we'll see what
happens in that one. The pod you guys do with Mike cocking, the highest recommendation. Loved it.
Loved it, loved it. Love it. Yeah, great. If you hadn't listened to that one, go listen to that
before we get into President's Cup talk. That was excellent. I would agree with that because
he was awesome talking about a very different golf course we're going to see. Any other names?
We could have started to cocking for five hours. We were just scratching the surface. It's so sick.
Any other performances you want to shout out, TC, or should we get down to some of the news of the week?
Toasty?
Yeah, toasty.
We probably got it.
That was a performance, certainly.
Yeah, that's true.
If you missed it on Thursday, his caddy on the 18th hole on the golf course, the ninth hole of their tournament.
Just put the bag down in the fairway and walked off, removed the bib, walked off.
that was the caddy cliff Ellis just straight up quit on him when reached this is from adam shoe pack
when reached by text after the round toasty joked that Ellis quote couldn't keep up with eight pars in a row
with a bunch of laughing emojis on that he pulled a gentleman by the name of patrick toledo
to geto out of the crowd also brought this guy back on friday and i have received word uh that he
toasty did not pay him for this didn't offer him an order didn't do anything i didn't do a thing
to do anything for the guy that he brought back out.
But, man, allegedly, according to the guy.
According to guy's buddy, yes.
That is what has been.
And L2 can.
Yeah, the word I heard, this was a worst situation that L2 can.
Don't know if I grew with that.
What Tostie's offered is fair.
How bad do you have to be to just get,
have your caddy walk off in the middle of the first round of the tournament, man?
I can't imagine.
Yeah, that doesn't seem like a luck situation.
That seems like Toastie probably I think he made his bed.
I just don't know how you can misconstrued what's going.
What's going on there?
We did get a lot of news earlier this week.
PGA Tour released their eligibility.
You're not going to start with the team Europe,
going to a Dare Banner and making a whole performance out of it.
That's got to be the biggest.
That's got me the biggest news of the week.
That was sick.
I loved, oh, I loved everything about it.
And they brought Gene.
Gene Chikara.
Exactly.
I don't have any energy for it.
This is where the bonds are forged, man.
It's just,
it's great.
Down in that,
down on that whiskey library.
Yeah,
sitting around the fire pit,
sharing their biggest fears.
It's good stuff.
Is this where I think they might have ruined the Rider Cup?
Because,
yeah,
I should be fired up and I should feel something,
but like you win it every year.
You're going to win the home one.
It's just kind of like,
what am I,
how am I going to get worked up about that a year in advance?
So he's going to try to downplay the Americans so much to the point that they're massive, massive underdogs.
And then when they eventually win one of these things, he's going to be.
He's doing the same thing with fantasy baseball this week where he already tried to concede like three days ago.
He's like, oh, yeah, clearly, I'm going to lose.
Oh, yeah.
Congratulations.
And now, of course, he's coming back.
He's going to win.
He should have to concede the whole.
Once you say my ball has lost, your whole parts is like you should be, you should be out.
You guys.
TZ's mad at me for downplay in the U.S.
He gets mad at me when I'm overhyping the U.S.
I feel like we got to make a decision on that one.
I also just remember that Toasty's a pilot.
Oh, I was going to bring that up.
I know.
I hate that.
It's one of the things that makes me most nervous about being out of bed.
Yeah, that should not be allowed.
If your catty quits on you, you should not be allowed to be a pilot.
I don't know who we need to talk to at the FAA about that.
But TZ, it seems like you must know somebody.
We got AI being installed this week up in DC.
Yeah, for like the FAA for the controllers.
Hell yeah.
The championship track eligibility was announced.
I'm going to kind of go through some of this.
We'll react to it here after that.
But retained players on the championship track are going to be the top 90 players
from the previous season's championship series.
Before I go through all these,
There's also, there's some, I'm not going to break down all of the, there's a separate set of standards for 2028 for that opening season.
I'm going to go through how this is going to work from season to season after that.
We should see if we can unload some of those retained in the USA shirts to those 90 guys that keep their card.
See if Neil can sell some of those shirts to those guys.
Top 90 players from the previous championship season
Retained status the next year on championship series
Promoted players.
The top 20 are promoted from the Challenger series.
Any players who win twice during the PGA Tour Challenger series
Get automatic promotion to the championship track.
Winners of PJ Tour Championship Series events.
This includes the players, includes the majors.
You receive PJA Tour Championship Series membership for the current one
and the following two seasons.
So similar to how it works currently, you win an event, you get kind of the remainder of the year, of course, and the following two seasons that is also going to remain intact for the championship, the new eligibility of championship series.
What's your, T.C., what's your reaction to that criteria?
I'm kind of split.
I mean, I feel like it's part and parcel with the points changes that they've made, right?
where they're devaluing the importance of a win from a points perspective to like in order to try
to incentivize these guys to show up more often and have to play.
So the, you know, we can run through the points table or the distribution.
But the, you know, the value of a win is much, much more similar to, you know, that.
Like it's just not like magnitudes.
Yeah, it's smoothed out a lot more.
Yeah.
more important. So I think it's one of those things that if they've done that, then all right,
your win probably needs to count for something more in the long run then. And I do think that
guys that win should be rewarded. So I'm a little bit torn on that front where, you know, but then again,
like it feels like, all right, you should have to eat what you kill every year as well.
Which is like I'm, I'm not thrilled about it, but I see, you know, like it could be something that
they changed here in the future as well. I wonder why two years and I, I,
know it is two years now, obviously, but I wonder why two years instead of a year, because
everything you just said makes sense to me on wanting to reward wins a little bit more, but also
everything that they've said has been meritocracy and eat what you kill, and we got to get,
we've got to churn these guys through and it's got to, nothing's guaranteed and we're all starting
back at zero. And it just feels like they're speaking on both sides of their mouth a little bit with,
with the two years just seems like a lot, I guess is my, my second point.
Well, two years and then getting two years on top of that on the church.
Challenger.
Yeah, right.
So you're getting four years of free ride off of one win.
That's that's substantial.
But here's what I would say to that, Dij is like it's it is a meritocracy and that you got a win to do it.
Right.
It's not this isn't like a sponsor exemption of extra status.
Yeah.
Like you went on the championship track.
And again, where I think people are understandably a little confused and not quite viewing.
We haven't seen this yet.
One, but like this is.
different than signature events.
Like this is a reimagining of the PGA tour essentially, right?
And going from this 50, top 50 number that has been extremely important for PGA tour players now to like top 1.30 basically, 90 are staying is like, this is not, it's going to include a lot more guys.
Like it's the entirety of the PGA tour.
And it is, if you are good enough to win.
one of these events with all of these players, I think having a little extra incentive on top of that,
I think is not, it's not like you're bypassed into the playoffs or bypassed into the match
play of the next year's season finale or something like that. You're just getting to play in those
tournaments. And there's going to be guys that struggle in those tournaments, you know, for an
extended period of time that that might happen. But I just don't have a problem with this. I think it's, it's, it's, it's, it is a
dramatic change in how things are done, but like it's still in part just a better reorganization of the PGA tour is what we're about to get and everyone kind of playing the same events rather than just the pick and choose part.
That's why like having some things that are consistent still makes sense.
This is not the 300 cut exemption.
And we can get to some of the other ones.
I just don't have a problem for wins if you get, you know, an extra eligibility.
And it's rarely applied to like guys usually, you know, are rarely finishing way outside the top 90 the next year.
year after winning a tournament on tour.
The one thing that bombs me out a little bit is it does take away from some of the
the relegation, right?
Like if, you know, the relegation, like I want that guillotine at the top of everybody's.
Like, I want guys living in fear a little bit.
I like that.
Well, and I wish they, I understand why it's hard to do this now because we haven't really
proven it out yet.
But I do wish that they would trust that the Challenger events only get better.
better when recognizable names get into them.
Right?
I mean,
that's,
that's kind of the thing.
I mean,
I'm just trying to think,
like,
to your point,
Sali,
on who's finished way,
way outside,
but still kind of falling back
on their,
their exemption.
And I don't know.
I'm trying to think of like a,
a good example,
but it's...
I got one.
You're not going to like it.
Max.
No,
that's what I was going to say,
but wasn't he,
he was inside the top 90 this year,
though.
I mean,
he was outside the top 100.
I think he was like 105,
if I remember right.
Yeah.
But it's close.
Enough. Like I think that's an example of this applying. Yes.
It is. And I guess my point would be that like it would be compelling as hell to watch Max try to fight back in Minnesota or the Quad Cities or whatever to try to get get his card back. So I.
Yeah, I don't know. I guess that's that's my final. My final sticking point is like I would go to one year instead of two years. I get why they're rewarding it. But it seems like they're rewarding it.
I think at the end of the day with this and with a few other things, roll apps got in the benefit of the doubt for me so far.
He's earned the benefit of the doubt.
And it's just like Shupak tweeted something this week.
He said during a conference call this morning,
Rollap confirmed that he's asked tournament sponsors
for their best offer by the end of the month
to be considered for the final four championship series events.
Privilease he said at the Tour Championship
that 14 sponsors have expressed interest.
That doesn't fill me with a ton of confidence
that this is like, hey, we're going to pick the best events.
It sounds like it's just going to the highest bidder,
which is kind of a bummer.
Could be a tactic in there.
Yeah, I'm sure some of it's a tactic and some of it's like, all right,
we're probably going to pick waste management in Phoenix Open because that's a highly
marketable event.
And, you know, we know that that's a good spot on the calendar for us.
But I just get a little bit worried that some of this stuff's going to get watered down as we go along here.
Sorry, a clarifying point.
I was referring to 2025 Max Homa, not 2026, Max Homo, where he was outside the top 100 is
what I don't think I said that out loud.
But, yeah, I think that could be a little bit.
little bit of a, you know, you know, play in the media, play in the, let's get the buzz up here of,
I think it's submit your best offer on it, more than it is like going completely to the highest
bidder. I could be wrong, of course, but I agree. It doesn't fill me, it doesn't feel me,
it doesn't feel me with warm and fuzzies about, about a lot of these events, which is still to be
proven if these are going to be good events, I think is, you know, a lot of the ones are on there
are ones we'd expect. And I think there's no reason to think that they wouldn't continue to be
good events but it's not a i'm not of the of the you know i guess i'm i have some scar tissue from
the catillac this past year of like dude you cannot just stand one of these up and tell me this is
a great event and people will vibe with it because there's there's a lot that goes into making a
great event and a lot of us to do with history and familiarity so i'm totally and and i think on
that note too like rory said this week as well i'm just reading through shack's newsletter tonight
and rory said like a lot of the deep you know maybe this is hot
error from him or but it sounds like this is backed up by sentiment from his peers on a DP
world tour of you know guys aren't necessarily thinking that the pathway from going the from the
DP world tour to the challenger series is necessarily a big step up right so it's you know hey let's
let's let's support our own tour back home and then if we make the championship series yeah maybe maybe
you make the leap at that point which makes a lot of sense to me right is like if you're if you're
trying to make the championship track, they're not going to use this word, but if you're kind of trying
to make that the quote unquote world tour, meaning just like the A1, this is the premier tour in the
world, then you need like those feeders need to be at different levels. Like I understand like the
Challenger and the DP World Tour feeding up to the, I get all twisted up by the names, but I
understand those two being much more lateral than like the Challenger being some weird middle ground
hinterland between the DP World Tour and the championship.
But from a strategic alliance perspective, the PGA Tour is going to turn the screws as much as possible on the DP World Tour to almost serve as a feeder.
Probably.
And to clarify that, that's part that's not announced yet is the DP World Tour aspect of this.
I think is the most interesting part, right?
Totally.
I think that makes, yeah, that's going to be the big details that make this thing go.
Another good nugget here.
Medical exemptions will be granted on a limited basis for injury or conditions that materially prevent competition as determined by an outside review committee of independent medical experts.
That will be me and T.C. reviewing your file, we'll tell if you're hurt or injured.
And if you could go or if you just need to actually, we're going to revoke your challenger.
You don't even have challenger status anymore.
I'm sorry.
I think this is a really interesting.
So I like this one.
Yeah.
Like, this is very interesting because I do think there's a lot of, we saw it, I think
I was reading something with Isaiah Salinda of it's tough to discern sometimes whether
someone is having, whether it's, you know, if it's mental health or, or anxiety or
depression because you're playing bad or you're playing bad because of that.
Those two things are pretty tough to discern.
And so I'll be very curious to see kind of what the, because it's a.
slippery slope, right? A lot of this, this, you know, like, are you physically materially hurt or
are you just not in a great head space? And there's got to be a line there somewhere. I don't know
where that line is. I don't, I don't, I don't envy the, the tour on that front. Well, and this is where,
you know, it's a mess how it works now in terms of how, you know, when you're injured one year and
it carries over to the next, you get a certain number of starts and you got to maintain a certain
points pace and all of that. I wonder if that will be cleaner with this. And, you know,
and how this will kind of work with this more cutthroat,
you know,
kind of black and white version of how the tour works.
I'd be curious how that's going to work.
I also just,
I don't even want to think about it.
It makes my head hurt every time I think about the medical stuff.
And it just feels weird because you can kind of gain the system a little bit
on when you come back.
And it just,
that part makes me pretty uncomfortable for like a system.
I'm in support of how they're overhauling this.
And some things are going to slip to the crack and be tough challenges that
I'm glad they have to figure that out and I don't know. I do feel like that I mean, I know this is boring, but the medical stuff, like I just feel like they get so many more right than they get wrong. Like I know there are fringe cases of of people who have kind of stretched it or abused it or I can get my pension if I stay on a medical or like whatever. What's the guy?
Gagne Jr. Your guy.
My team Verganyo. Yeah. Shout out. I know. I know there are cases like that. But there are also cases where it's just like, no, I needed back.
surgery and you can't just like sorry dude you lose your card should hurt your back is like you know
i just it's it's easy to focus on like the bad for the back is broken spinal it's broken
it speaks to what makes golf different to like all of this you know the analogies to other sports
don't really make sense when like it just becomes simple like is as simple as like does somebody
want to sign you to their team or not like individual sports like all this eligibility is what
makes golf unique and makes it a lot, this part a lot more challenging. This one I'm not as
convinced on as I am the winner one. Career milestone exemption players with exceptional PJ Tour
careers currently recognized through the career money list will be eligible to use a one-time
exemption on the PJ Tour Championship Series in 2029 and beyond. You must hold championship
series membership the prior year and the exemption must be used in the year immediately following
the loss of championship series membership. So basically anybody that
has made it like Adam Scott category here.
If he got membership in 2028 but didn't retain it,
he could get an extra year and stay out on the PGA tour.
This sucks, man.
I'm good.
I'm good on this.
I don't know if you guys feel differently,
but I would go back to the other side of the mouth that we're talking about.
I'm just like,
man,
I thought this is kind of some of the stuff we're getting rid of.
It,
like,
how this difference for the difference for the win for me,
is like if you've won an event, I think like you have a two, a two year.
You're putting credit.
You're putting more credit in the bank.
You're getting more credits.
Yeah.
Because you won the video game.
But like having I won the video game 10 years ago is like a great career and you've aged out
of it is like, ah, okay.
Well, now we're not talking about like a great competitor right now.
This is, this is just like social security and, and Medicare.
This is straight up entitlement.
Like this stuff's hard, man.
You got to compromise.
you got to, these people have been promised something and you can't just take it all the way from.
You got to, you know, otherwise you got 50 Matt Cochers who are mad as hell.
Sure.
This is, uh, the, the quote, this sucks.
That is, that is my personal feeling about this.
I think for some of the like, how and why did this happen?
There's got to be some of this that's just like, hey, man, I didn't go to live.
Like, come on, dude.
Yeah.
I didn't go to live and you, you better help me out here.
Where is this like?
meet me halfway. I imagine is some of that? I don't know. Can you imagine like like uh,
I don't know, like late career Frank Gore being like, hey man, I didn't go to the XFL.
You got to give me another three years. Again, I'll point you to if this sucks. That's my personal
feelings. But I, I'm just trying to wrap my head around kind of how we got there. I think it can
suck. And I think it's also not that worth getting worked up about just because like these are kind of
big fields, pretty big fields.
And like the bottom of the fields is always going to be a little, you know,
and there's no sponsor exemptions into these tournaments.
This can kind of semi be a little bit of a sponsor exemption in there to the point
where like, again, where you're going to have a problem is if you are squeezing out top
talent from playing on this tour by having guys stick around too long.
And like based on stuff we haven't gotten to yet, I don't feel like they're doing that.
So that's where I'm like.
Very good point.
I don't think it's worth getting overly upset because there's going to be like a hundred
120 to 130 guys on this tour.
And like the next guy up might be like Max McGreevy.
And I just, he's my go-to guy that I always feel like I've used in that spot of like,
it's just not going to be that important to anybody's enjoyment of the golf tournament.
I'm sorry, it's not.
It's not.
He's also not missing out.
Like he's not going to get in either way.
You're just.
Right.
Exactly.
That's what makes this super clean.
So it can be a little icky, but also just not that worth getting over the upset about it.
It feels like the Adam Scott car.
Well, that's what I was going to say that the doom stage.
Fair because he's still competing like, you know, like it.
No, I know.
No, but like this is for 2029.
He's like, yeah, but no, there's no fucking chance that Zach Johnson, because you have
to have held.
No, no, I know.
Oh, yeah.
Sure.
Right, right, right.
Yeah.
The year before.
Whereas like this feels like Adam Scott being like, all right.
You know what I'm setting myself up for success here in 28 and I'll use it in 29 and
right off into the sunset.
I meant more as example of how ZJ's career evolve.
than I would like specific to Adam Scott.
But I think the Adam Scott thing might still be several years away from from needing that kind of exemption here.
Or Team Rose would be in this category.
I was kind of going to look at like who is like a big time potential here because it's top 25 and top 50, right?
I think it is just I think I thought I thought I used to be.
If I was writing this legislation.
No, I know it used to be.
I thought it still was.
I would say this is inflation adjusted career money list stuff.
and, you know, Tiger tax adjusted as well.
Yeah.
Of, you know, like pre-signature event.
Like, you normalize all these purses, basically.
You go back to a points, a point structure of some sort.
Maybe you tie it to date of golf, Sali.
Admittedly, I forgot about speak.
Number 10 on the all-time body list.
My guy's going to need it.
So, hey, come on.
I might be revisiting some of my takes on this exemption.
That's again where I go to this.
The fight for the top 50s been kind of interesting for several guys.
I don't have to fight for the top 90 is going to be that interesting.
Speed is going to easily, you know, even when like Speed and JT have had really bad seasons,
like between 50 and 90, they're not falling outside the top 90.
Yeah, but if you get three or four more years down the road and.
Yeah.
And there's that many more new talented guys coming up.
Like, you know, the margin's going to get that much tighter as well.
Let's look at.
Let's look at some of the guys.
might be interesting here.
These are guys outside the top 90
in the FedEx Cup right now.
Snetiker, I don't know where he's at
on the all-time list.
Brooks, 98, Big Tone
at 100.
Big Tones got to love that they're
smoothing out those point distributions
as well. I wish there was a mechanism to
short someone's career.
Like, I think Big Tone
was almost DFL and built more
this one. I can't believe the
three-foot grip did fix
Solly.
Big tone and John Rob,
almost DFL.
Solly is not willing to say big tone is not a dude.
Yeah,
he's got to see it.
He's got to see a little bit more.
We think he'll be premature.
All right.
Let's get through these last few parts.
Pathways.
Future stars the PGA Tour championship series will be captured through PGA
tours through Tours pathways,
including PJ Tour University and a last chance series.
So number one player from PJ Tour University following that season's NCAA
championship you're straight to the championship track for that season and the following season
that goes strictly the number one honor guy we'll get to that but two through five from pj
tour you will get challenger series eligibility right away as well as there will be three cards
that are available via a last chance series which we'll get to as well moving a little quick good
can i be just a teeny tiny bit of a wet blanket on that one just a little bit of a question mark
is i kind of alluded to this earlier but like man i don't
Are we 100% sure that's the best thing for some of those guys' careers
is throwing them like right in, like right from college,
right into two years of playing against like the best players in the world?
Two years or one?
One and a half.
One and a half.
Oh, I guess it's the rest of the year.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I just got some of the Dunlap sergeant kind of stuff in the back of my head.
And it's just, I don't know.
I almost am like, I like it, I think.
but I am a little tiny bit, like, just a little uneasy about throwing some of those guys, like, right into the, right into that fire.
I think if you, there's a chance that, like, you're talking about an alternate world where they go to a development tour and their career shakes out differently because.
Even just the challenger.
Yeah.
I would call it, yeah.
Maybe, yeah.
I would call it a developmental tour in this scenario of, like, you know, figure some things out.
out and there's something to graduate from.
Like there's no,
obviously you don't know what would have them.
There's no guarantee like that, you know,
people say,
oh, he's not ready for the major leagues yet.
You know,
he hasn't faced AAA pitching yet.
It's like,
well,
facing AAA pitching is not going to help you,
might not help you get better for the major league.
It might just help to see major league pitching
and what you need to do.
It's kind of like the corner fairy tour right now.
Like the corner very tour in certain cases.
Yes, that's,
that's my point of like,
I don't know if like going and getting in the,
getting your ass thrown in the jackpot of,
of the piece of shit putting contest that happened sometimes down there
is the bet could be the best thing for you either i get there's something to learn to be a
professional and and all that goes into that but i think it'd be it just would be tough to have a
ludwig graduating out of this and not you know it accomplished so you mean to win pjutor you
just have to do so much in college like a ton and i think it is um it would be a lot worse
the other way around, like if the top player was not getting access to be one of the best players,
you know, to compete on the best tour in the world.
I think, yeah, again, I think that's probably right.
And I think this is probably the right, I think it's probably the right rule.
It's just, I don't know.
It's a watch this space.
It's exactly how the tours works the last couple years.
Like, that's not, it's not different.
Well, it is different in that, like, those guys don't get right into the signature events.
Like, they get to the smaller events.
these are bigger fields and what it's just i don't know i don't i don't i'm nervous about just wrecking
wrecking young talent because there's something very very special when you do come out of college
you've we've seen it like over and over and over where you have that like six months to a year of
just like i'm the best player in the world and a lot of those guys like i don't know maybe you take
flight and maybe you figure it out in those six months but man i think you can also lose a
shitload of confidence if you are a world beater and you come out and you just aren't ready and
i don't know i just find that conversation very very interesting i don't know what the answer is but i
i that's always in the back of my head i feel it seems like we're probably talking about
preston stout for this and you know going in 2027 or into 2028 so yeah but i think that
the like the the one guy going into championship and then two through five
going into Challenger feels right to me.
Like I think that's that feels proportionate.
And that's similar how it works now with, you know,
top guy going on the PJ Tour and the two through five going,
getting corned ferry status.
But Challenger series eligibility is going to be,
so the top 20 from the Challenger series go straight to the championship.
So 21 through 90 from the previous seasons,
Challenger Point List will keep their challenger status for the next year.
There'll be 20 players that are,
are promoted up from the corn fairy tour.
And if you win a Challenger event,
you will get another year exemption as well.
After your two-year exemption is up for championship track,
you get two years on Challenger,
if you've won a tournament there, as we discussed.
And then again, those two through five on PGA Tour U
and PGA Tour University accelerated.
Anyone that qualifies through that would go straight to the Challenger series.
Q School, top five vintagers at Q School.
will get a challenger access as well,
including two designated exemptions.
There are some exemptions into Challenger series events.
So the last chance you, as mentioned,
is a series of a minimum of four events
with three cards available for the championship series,
the eligible players for this.
Anybody that got relegated from the championship track,
anybody that didn't finish in that top 90
in the championship track gets to play in Last Chance Kitchen
at the end of the year.
everyone 21 through 90 on the Challenger series also gets to play in this 20 players promoted from Corn Fairy can also play in this and go straight to championship track PJTor U grads and Kew School grads.
Basically, there is a 5 o'clock free crack giveaway at the end of the year for a series of four events.
I'm assuming it's going to be weighted based on kind of where you're coming from.
Maybe it's not.
Maybe it's just purely start from scratch.
But three championship track cards will be given out through the fall, which I think is great.
like that gives you some great incentive for for fall events and they're going to fill those out with
tortoise sauce champions lynx master trophies barstrel classic they said that day creator classic
uh i i mean stating the obvious maybe but like watching the ashville event today was great
it was great that jacob richmond won because it makes you think about him and his career in the
president's cup and whatever if he does not win i'm kind of like searching a little bit for a reason to watch
today you know it's it's like uh neal shippley nice nice player good corn fairy tour player and
maybe this sets on to his career on to some other track but man it's just hard without a big
time center of gravity and i think this gives the fall like a really really good reason to watch
and a ton of uh just a ton of why you know 100% this was kind of a quiet one a
announcement of the complete overhaul of the pGA tour championship
series points distribution. I'm not going to, I'm purposely not going to use any numbers here just
because it can get very confusing very quickly, but it's a big change in terms of how the points
work now. A ton of reward is added in there for winning. There's a big, just a big proportion of
points at the very top. A criticism of this we've had in the past is there's almost nothing to play for
between like 60th and 30th place in terms of separation of points. This new system is a lot
smoother than that. It used to be like, would you rather have a top 10 and a missed cut or
two T-30s? And the answer was always, give me the top 10 and the miscut, like, not even close.
And I'm just pulling these examples out of a hat. I don't know if the math is actually supports
this. But in this new scenario, the two consecutive 30th place finishes would be that 65 points
in each of those. On a 10th plate finish is only 100. So you would get more points out of
finishing 30th twice than finishing 10th and missing a cut.
which is a big change.
And it's,
I know people don't geek out a ton over the numbers
and the ups and downs,
a lot of the movement of the FedEx Cup from week to week,
but rewards consistency a lot more,
which is something that I think,
if we're talking about eligibility and not a championship race,
we're talking about eligibility,
that makes a lot more sense to me than just can you have massive big peak
weeks and miss five cuts in a row?
Like,
you're going to pay a price a lot more for missing cuts.
And,
or not showing up.
Or not playing.
Like, yeah, you're just not going to, because yeah, and you got a lot more to play for on the weekends when you do make a cut in you're near the bottom of the board.
So I, without seeing a simulation or without seeing this actually play out, I like this on the surface of how they've, they've reshifted that.
And just it's going to become a lot, a lot easier to understand, I think, the movement there.
Until you get to, say, ninth or so, it seems pretty tethered to how many guys you beat.
Like, you get a point for every guy that you beat.
Right.
You know, so, all right, you finish 13th.
You get 85 points.
Yeah.
Pretty, pretty simple.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm with you.
Well, well said.
I think this is a good, good change.
That's going to pretty much do it on the PGA tour side.
We got a few grab bag items here.
Did you guys catch Duff Foreman's debut?
I saw a little bit of it.
Duff,
Duff didn't seem to be on it.
Noda kind of put him in a body bag, too.
I guess Duff didn't know that it rained the night before.
And if Noda is putting in a body bag on the broadcast,
you definitely don't know.
Yeah, man, a lot of directions.
A lot of directions we can go.
Big shout out to all the got you talking about the New Mexico.
No, you're a fucking idiot.
If that's your take, that's the worst take in history.
It made me think so much less.
Not even the worst take.
As it relates to this specific character, which is that came,
Alabama got this quote from the CEO of the production cut company,
said, quote,
when people were riding in horse and buggies,
they didn't ask for the car.
This is the car.
God,
we got to stop making movies about like some of these,
these titans of technology.
We can't have people thinking that,
that they're the people inventing the light bulb here.
This is horrible,
horrible stuff.
I thought,
I thought Ryan Burr was Duff Foreman.
for the last 10 years.
He was the precursor to Duff Foreman.
Just the bad.
I just don't think anybody's asking for that.
No, I think this might have been,
you know,
that all those AI CEOs were freaking out
about, you know, they'd be coming too bad.
I think it was about this.
I think they were most freaked out about
what this technology was going to do
to the world, really.
Honestly, hopefully some of these people
saw this.
Like, that's why they want to slow things down.
That's why they want to show it.
Like, you know what?
Actually, this stuff does suck.
I'll tell you the guy who should be fucking terrified.
Luke L.V.
Duff Foreman's coming for your job.
He's off the video game.
It's true.
Yeah.
Just bad.
Just bad stuff.
Bad stuff.
T.C.,
do you have anything in the grab bag?
Not a whole...
You see the Pebble Beach changes?
Yeah.
Took the tree out on 16.
Yeah.
J.T. was mad as hell about that.
I guess the tree was diseased.
Yeah.
So, but they
they moved the tree on...
they moved the T back on on on six a little bit to get guys hitting driver again.
Did they already do that?
Like they moved back again.
They just moved it back.
I know it was so far back this year.
I think that might have already been some.
I don't know if they used it during the PJ tour event.
I think they did.
But that's a yeah.
Basically.
Some of the bunkers on on,
what,
four on six.
Made them more singular and made it to where you can,
like the mowing line's not going to look as egregious as it has.
It's nice to see Pebblebee showing just an ounce of caring consideration for like the gem that they have, you know?
Or it might be the USGA as well because they're going there for the USF.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm still concerned about next year.
All sorts of.
We got time.
Tree dialogue on there.
It's like, no, I think the tree was just dying.
So they took it out.
Like they put another tree in on 18.
They put the second Cyprus back in there.
So.
As tends to happen.
with trees. That's that's kind of part of the part of the risk of filling the whole
the whole place around. Yeah. Yeah. Actually I was on a flight. I was on a long flight
yesterday. No Wi-Fi. And it was a daytime flight. I was trying to stay up. So I read
I read the entirety of Lauren Rubinstein's A Season in Dornick yesterday just to kind of get me.
You know what? Never read it. I never read it about eight years ago. But it was kind of on the front end of
having been to all these places and not really understanding a lot of the references.
So rereading it was excellent.
It's a very breezy read.
Like I read it, it was a 10-hour flight.
And I read it in one sitting.
And it was awesome.
I would highly recommend it.
And it got me just jazzed about golf, generally speaking.
Like, it spoke to me in a big way.
And just the reasons that I like golf and I like watching golf, too.
So it was a shot of life.
I think Randy needs to read it again, too.
I know Randy.
Randy loves it.
Yeah, yeah.
It's been five or six years since he's read it.
I think he needs to do for another dose of it.
That's a great nudge.
Love Lorne, love Dornick.
That's, yeah, what am I doing?
Good, good shout.
Closing the loop on the Solheim Cup,
which is, of course, last weekend.
Ratings came out earlier this week.
stunning, stunningly low, 179K on Saturday, 170 on Sunday.
I know morning golf doesn't rate great on Golf Channel.
A lot of European tour or DP World Tour events do not end up with great ratings in the morning.
But man, very close matches going into Sunday, not going up against football.
Like football had not started yet.
I was surprised to see the ratings that low.
I know LPJ ratings are not great to begin with, but they are not this low.
So I can hear you.
You're ready to make that comment and save it, save it.
This was what I thought was a great opportunity to showcase the women's game.
And I was stunned by how low this was.
And coverage was better than it's been in years past, I think.
And for Finca, it was on NBC, right?
It had some network time.
I don't think 23.
They did.
I don't think.
I know
2024 when it was on
a better US window
Sunday singles average
657
on NBC
which is not great
that that's not that great
for NBC as well
but the prior year comp
2003 was
277
on Golf Channel
so
I mean it's just
it just goes to show you too
how many people are firing up
NBC
CBS
it
you know, 2 p.m. 3 p.m. on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and just go into that and putting on what literally whatever is being televised as well and sitting there like Mitch McConnell just glazed over watching it.
Yeah. Yeah, just kind of just depressing man. Depress like genuinely pretty depressing numbers. A great event. And it's kind of one of those like I just don't have a ton of ideas on. Unkineally.
kind of what you do. I'm sure it's a much longer conversation, but man, if it's, if,
yeah, if that's what we're getting for the Solheim Cup, then we got some pretty massive issues,
it seems like. Yeah. I felt like as we, you know, we wrapped on Sunday, it felt like
throughout the course of the week or as, as time got a little farther away, it seemed like the
narrative was getting stronger and stronger against kind of the Angela Stanford captain CTC. I'm not sure
if you felt any of that. If you, if, if, if, if there was any,
we left on the table from that from that conversation Sunday night because I know us being there in
person we did not feel nearly as strongly as some people that you know that were that at least a lot of
the discussion that that I read early in the early part of this week especially about the Saturday
night incident of taking beers on the bus which it to us I think it felt like an absolute
nothing burger obviously Europe use it for motivation but I just did not see it as being a massive
the massive foe paw that you know some of the online comments
It's the perfect thing for Mel Reed or Dame Laura Davies to like piggyback onto and make fun of.
I think like that's good fodder for a competitive event to kind of needle your opponent.
But as far as actual analysis and such, no, yeah, I didn't think it was it like it wasn't at all material to the competition.
It was mostly related to like the caddies were just out there having fun.
all day that some of their players weren't playing and supporting their teammates and all of that.
And that's who the beer was for.
Like it wasn't for the players weren't like celebrating like they won the Solheim Cup and it was eight to eight on Saturday night.
Like I don't think that's how that went down.
Some of the comment, you know, they shouldn't have posted it.
It's like, all right, well, you know, it wasn't like Nelly Corte hit send on the post.
Like, you know, the LPGA tour is overhauling how they do their social media and like the stuff that
makes this event special plays well on social media would help gain awareness.
Like the downside of that's like, well,
should gain awareness.
The ratings sucked on the back half of that.
Like that's not a good combination.
But like they should be doing all they can to show how much the players are having fun with the event.
And I don't,
I, yeah.
It's always just imagine if it was reversed, man.
Imagine if it was just team Europe showering their caddies with appreciation on Saturday night.
That this is why they win.
Yeah.
This is because they treat the caddies like they're part of the team.
Right.
They do.
For sure.
It's just, yeah, kind of a kind of an eye roll.
No, but I think some of the stuff with Angela, you know, I thought she was diplomatic with some of the KPMG insight stuff for not having the budget to, you know, have proper strokes gained and to be able to set some of the matchups correctly.
She could have been smoother with all of that.
I think in delivering that.
I don't think she needed to take like a little.
kind of slide dig at the super like we're just kind of set up with a smile but when you write that
in paper like it didn't come off great i think it sounds like an excuse to some and you know
i get that i just didn't in the annals of like the just bad losing captain's press conferences
this one ranks extremely extremely uh you know low impact low like very inoffensive i think
she was pretty self-deprecating and shouldered a lot of the blame. And I still think she was
dealt a tough hand due to various factors and circumstances. And I don't know, I think the biggest
bummer for me was just the fact that, like, I thought it was a really good Solheim Cup. And
the action was good. The golf was good. The golf course was awesome. Yeah. The venue was great.
Like it was the crowds were great. Like, I thought it was a true celebration. So the fact that
we're talking about this stuff now is like, just a bummer to me because it felt,
like on the ground that there was real momentum. I completely agree with that T.C.
as well said. Final notes, your boy Stu Haggistad won the crump this week.
Big, big dub for him. Today. Yeah, he won it. I'm sorry. Yeah. Won that one. That's, of course,
at Pine Valley. Was it a few two-time winners? Only two-time winners? It's like a very short list, right?
Yeah. And, you know, a couple of weeks after a splash roll closed.
The actual splash world.
The actual splash world.
Yeah.
On the street.
So kind of devastating there as well.
And then, yeah, final note I had was Bryson and Gary player on Marine One with DT was, was a goal, I guess a golf story as well from this past week.
What do you think Bryson's announcement is tomorrow?
I'm not falling for this.
I don't care.
It's going home.
It's coming home.
It's going to be.
Something.
Maybe he's going to be an England World Cup supporter.
It's got to be something Kalshi related.
It's got to be something brand related.
It has to be.
And I don't, I'm not following this for this for one second that I need to wait around for this announcement.
Yeah, I agree.
I don't have a guess.
