Be the right club today.
That's better than most.
How about him?
That is better than most.
Better than most.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the no-langa podcast.
My name is DJ.
We got an interesting one tonight.
I'm going to be moderating what I assume is going to turn into a trap-draw chop session here is probably what's going to be happening.
Solly's taking a much needed, much-deserved Sunday night.
off and I am here with the with the trap drop boys DC greetings my man how are you
greetings I'm good I think I'm playing hurt I'm not positive yet I'm hurt at this point I'm
not injured I feel like I'm getting sick though so I might just just kind of go like this
I don't want to you know I don't want to magic of Hollywood some of this TV I don't want to let
people too far in behind the curtain but I mean just a pity party going on before we before we
hit record Randy's here Randy's bitching about how
all his teams stink.
He's trying to adopt the Padres.
They can't, they can't.
I mean, they just keep losing in the most outrageous ways possible.
Randy stinks off now.
We're going to talk about that.
My Jaggs feed his bengles and his fantasy team was the worst I've ever seen it in like 22 years of this league.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
The Reds ownership just had a clown press conference to end the year.
What else?
I watched Miami lose to a shitty bowling green team yesterday.
like truly, truly, I, truly, I have nothing going for me.
Extracurricular.
My wife's like, well, you're a father.
I'm like, well, that's one thing.
But truly, I have nothing else right now.
Pails in comparison to your fantasy performance this week.
I probably, we are going to get to some golf.
And as always, we are presented tonight by our friends at title.
As titles just announced new news on so.
I guess all news is new news on social.
The new 2027 ProV1.
and ProVu1X golf balls are now on tour.
It is white box season, TC.
You know that global launch officially kicks off in Japan at the Bay Current this week.
Going back to earlier this year, players like Adam Scott, Justin Thomas, Lottie Wode, Matt Fitzpatrick, Yanna Wilson, and Victor Hovlin tested the final candidates for the new ProV1 and ProV1X designs and gave feedback to the titleless golf ball R&D team during practice rounds.
And now the new models have moved from the prototype stage to production.
and they're ready to be used in competition.
Guys, I got my white boxes in the mail.
I'm very excited.
I put them into play today.
There's a couple of, I'm recording this live from beautiful Aaron Hills.
There's a couple of that left side of number one.
Couple prototypes sitting down there if anybody wants them.
Hit them hard, hit them hard.
But I did close the face a little bit.
User error.
They went far, but they did go a little bit left.
But after that, we settled in and just amazing spin control.
Amazing flight controls windy out here at Aaron Hills.
And so I'm all in on the 2027 prototype.
Stay tuned to title of social channels as the tour launch of the new ProV1 and ProV1X continues around the world,
maybe coming to Denver, maybe coming to Jacksonville.
I mean, I know you guys are excited about the new Provee 1.
I'm stoked.
It's an every other year kind of thing, right?
It's not like we don't get this very often.
I love that they're debuting them at Yokohama this week for the pay current.
We'll see and see action.
Come on.
Of course, the music factory.
That's right.
Guys, on the PGA tour, we had the Bank of Utah Championship where Austin Smotherman gets his maiden PGA tour.
Victory 26 under beating Doug Gim and David Ford and country music.
I don't want to say sensation, but up-and-comer Trace Crowe.
Trace Crow Medicine Show.
That's a good one, big.
Trace Crow, UNF guy.
Is that right?
Yeah.
Did you write down Trace Crow medicine or did you just come up?
No.
I thought of it Saturday as I was watching golf and then I was like, surely this must be out there already.
Randy, Randy's actually huge.
I'm not on the socials.
I don't know.
He's a huge Trace Crow fan, even Trace Crow lost this weekend.
That's true.
I like his early stuff better than, you know, but, T.C., I feel like the fall, Austin Smotherman, Austin Smotherman wins the Bank of Utah.
I feel like this is kind of, that's what the fall is for.
right i mean cool golf course a player that has a ton of pedigrees the right word just kind of like a
really nice player that's just been around and has slowly been leveling up his career he's kind of
one of those guys you look at and you're like well that guy's probably going to win at some point
and then he goes out you know he look yeah he looks the party has a great game and he goes out and
63 62 in the first two rounds and then uh keeps it on the road and and and finishes it up and
and gets his maiden pjutor victory yeah and it's hundred start too uh
You know, and he like didn't make it super easy.
He doubled 13, just kind of a funky hole.
But I don't know, Randy and I were watching this.
Like I watched a bunch of it Friday, Saturday.
He watched a bunch of it this weekend.
And it looks like CGI out there.
Like golf course, just like it looks like a video game.
It's gorgeous surrounds, you know, the very like Moab-y feeling.
The, the rock formations coming out of the ground.
Nobody there.
No, you know, I'm like, who are we putting on this tournament for?
It's crazy.
Yeah.
But congrats to Austin Smotherman.
Tough double on 13.
But my guy came back with a beautiful three wood off the T on 14 to about, I don't know,
six, seven feet for Eagle missed that, but made his birdie.
And yeah, finish the deal.
I saw a lot of Kevin Streelman this week.
A lot of Kevin Strillman this week.
That was unexpected.
T5 finish.
He finished four shots out of first.
place, which is, God, he's got to be what, 40,
seven. Kevin's Truman is 47.
D.
She would have, you know what?
There's sometimes.
There's sometimes where I'm just like, man, are you a professional golf
podcaster?
I like, do you know, and I'm like, would you nail that Kevin's drill with exactly 47?
That's you're like, no, you know what?
I do do this for a living, you know, I have about this life.
He turns 48 in exactly one month on November.
Yeah.
Well, no.
See, I knew that.
I do it.
I do it wasn't his birthday yet.
Yeah.
I think, like, Ben,
James played well. He was T5, probably could have won it.
The air fryer.
Yeah. Nobody gets hotter faster than Ben James.
Luke Clinton citing, T7.
I've been, I've been like genuinely giddy to talk to you about this.
D.C. We got a lot of reputational capital kind of kind of built up in.
We're so early in it.
In Luke Clinton, we of course put him on our top 10 players to not win a major, which is, you know, I'm not going to, I'm not quite well.
we're still too early in it to will you know to concede defeat but it's only 22 the best part about that is
yeah you got 10 years a runway to exactly be definitively wrong there this is one of tc's many many
forward looking indexes uh yeah but but we did need one tc i will say i will say that i did
have someone today uh i played golf this morning and uh had someone earnestly asked me he's like
hey so like what what is the fedora five like can you explain that to me and i explained
And he's like, no, no, like the fedora.
Like, why do you, why is it called the fedorify?
And then I told him, and he's like, oh, that's so stupid.
It is.
Yeah, I mean, sure.
That's either beholder, you know, I disagree, but I reserve their right to, to think that.
Yeah, I don't know.
The more I kind of go through this leaderboard, the more I'm just like, I, I think this is what the fall is.
Yes.
Right.
It's a, it's a proving ground.
It's sort of optional kind of viewing.
You know, it's, it's context.
building for some of these kind of mid-tier, no offense to anybody. But it's, it's the people,
it's the Kevin Strelman and it's David Ford, you know, it's just like, let's meet in the
middle at a cool venue and, and play a golf tournament for a big purse. I mean, I just, I'm not
offended by it. I'm not super enthralled by it. I'm just kind of, it is, it is what it is.
And I think we're, it's good background viewing. Like, it's a great thing to have on the TV in the
background. Yeah. It looks interesting. 100%. Looking up every kind of seven minutes.
to be like, ah, like I was at a bar.
I went to a concert on Friday night.
And I was at a bar in Chicago and I'm just looking up and I'm watching Jackson
Coivin kind of like, is he going to do it?
Is he not going to do it in this, this big part five.
Just you had this, this like hero cover on this bunker shot.
And it was just like a, yeah, it's just, you know, it's, it's perfect kind of.
Everybody in the bar is kind of like one eye up.
Like, oh, yeah, it's the kid over there.
He's really good player, you know.
But like nobody's living and dying with it.
It's just kind of, uh, big tones like putting with a hockey stick.
Yeah, I don't, Randy, you got any comment on big tone and his state of his game?
No, no. I think if big tone's ever going to unleash the full swing speed, though, let's,
let's go ahead and do it before, uh, we're off the tour there. He's always heard.
It's always banged up. Yeah, that's right. I do think that, uh, this place, Black Desert, I think has like,
you know how there, there used to be PJ Tour of
where it was like, oh my gosh, I've never heard of that place.
Like, this could be huge for tourism.
You know, this could be huge to really shine a spotlight on that.
Like, Black Desert's the quintessential example of that,
where it's just like, I feel like I've had 15 people in my life over the last three, four years.
Like, man, I hadn't heard of that place.
I tuned in for 20 minutes.
That place looks awesome.
You know what I mean?
I think it's like really, it feels like very effective marketing for a place.
I haven't been, but I just got done with that.
Show us.
Don't tell us.
Yeah, I would love to go to that place.
It looks awesome.
It looks like your building.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Stay tuned.
Did you, did you happen to see the pot eater clip?
I did.
I did.
You know what's funny?
I mentioned I'm here at Aaron Hills.
I had a very similar shot today where I was, I was, so to back up, I forget which
hole it was, but he's kind of in this like closely moan area.
just either like over the green or short right of the green or something like that.
And I mean, I've just never felt more seen than like, okay, well, clearly I'm not going to chip this because I'm not a good chipper.
So like let's explore some other options.
I'm not, I'm not going to put it because like, it feels a little too far.
So it kind of gets out this like cheeky three wood or a hybrid or five wood or something, something like that, like a fairway metal.
Like I'm so lockstep with them.
Like that is my, that's my play.
up until there and he just hits truly horrid, horrid golf shots.
Just stone hands.
Well, it looks horrid.
Then it looks like, oh, he was trying to do that.
It's kind of come back to the hole.
There's this big bank behind.
And it's like, oh, shit.
But then he totally misplaced the bank.
It was just like, it was like watching.
Yeah, that is horrid.
Yeah.
And it's just, I think he could have taken every all 13 clubs in his bag,
I think would have gotten closer to the hole.
than what ended up happening.
But anyway,
I had that on the seventh hole,
part five at Aaron Hills today.
And I was like,
looking at it and I was like,
oh, man,
I'm like,
I'm in this short right kind of like collection area over here.
And I think there's a,
there's a backstop.
And I'm like talking to my caddy about this.
I was like,
I think I can go like 30 feet right.
And if I hammer this three wood,
I think I can hit it up the swale.
And then it's going to come back down to the,
he's like,
no,
I think you just hit it like right at the hole.
Like just,
I don't know what you're talking about.
No,
no,
I think I've, no, I got it.
Like, just give you the three wood.
And I just hit the like almost identical shot to what Pock Eater hit.
I mean, it was awful, awful, awful.
Didn't hit it hard enough.
Just fades away.
I had like 50 feet and I like three butted for double.
And I got up there.
I was like, oh man, I think I should have just hit it right at the hole.
You know, he's like, yeah, I don't know, man.
That's kind of what I was trying to tell you.
I texted our buddy, Mr. Rammel, but just like that, that clip.
And he was like, God, like that's, that's a ball speed imposter right there.
Like that guy stanks at golf.
But do you know how far back, T.C., I was set by when we took our Northwest England trip earlier this year.
And we're walking through the Lhythm Clubhouse.
And Lhythm is like the most tactical golf course on planet Earth.
Just like all pretenders need not apply.
Me and Neil got blown out to see.
And I'm like walking through the clubhouse.
I'm like, oh, there's the iconic Sevi photo with the green pants and the awesome blue jumper.
And he's got, he looks like big Randy out there.
just like wind blow at his hair.
And I'm like, oh, that's, that's a real golfer right there.
And then you go down and you're like, oh my gosh, potkeeter won the amateur here?
Like how fuck did that happen?
So I feel like I've been like sticking up for him ever since I saw that photo in the clubhouse where I was like he can't, I refuse to believe it.
He cannot be a ball speed imposter if you want to live them.
And yeah, T.C. the evidence is is mounting at this point.
Yeah, we can't ignore.
Yeah, I might need to.
Unlike the Clanton's.
I might need to I might need to concede defeat it's funny my my older one Freddie was out he was
out at I had a PGA Junior League today got to thank the 31,000 our guy our guy Jonathan does an
awesome job out there like you know every week spring in the fall and uh Freddie if he is like even
one inch onto the fringe he refuses to put it from off the green really yeah what is kind of like
Nelly. He hits like a 58 degree and he flops it and he gets it and it's like he's unbelievable,
like his chipping is demonstrably better than mine and he has no scar tissue. Like I was going
to be short-sighted. Yeah. It was kind of wet out there. Like it's terrifying to watch, but he's good at
it. Do you remember TC when we were doing, uh, we were doing a Callaway thing like it was like 10 years
ago and we're out there and Roger Cleveland's walking around just like giving short game lessons.
And then you tried to convince him that you hit a flop shot off your back foot.
And like he's, you're trying to get that flop shot over the cardboard cut out of fill.
And you just like bowed one right through his leg and like took a chunk out of the,
out of the leg.
That's what's going through my head when you're talking about Freddy's, what Freddie's facing there.
No, it's just so natural.
Like it's like, it's like it's like it kind of pisses me off to be honest.
He's nine.
Some other kind of fun names on the leader.
board at Utah. I feel like we mentioned kind of the top five Austin Smotherman.
Doug Gim up there in a solo runner up position. I haven't heard a lot from him,
but he moves up to number 58 in the FedEx Cup fall. Randy, I don't need to tell you about that.
David Ford, Randy, who we got a close up look at at the Walker Cup.
I know.
I know.
You graduate is a number of our guys out there for sure.
Trace Crowe. We mentioned Kevin Strelman. We mentioned Ben James, who moves up to number
59 in the FedEx Cup fall.
Luke Clanton, you mentioned Stephen Fisk.
Ballnor Steven.
Ballnor Steven, fun to see him playing, some good golf.
Keyha Cooper.
Kihei Kina.
Yeah, BYU student.
Exactly.
Rico Hoey playing good, the best, maybe the best driver of the golf ball in the world,
other than, other than T.C.
Neil Shipley, Johnny Kiefer, Alejandro, Tosty,
just kind of a fun, just a fun grab bag.
Michael Brennan, who's one here before.
Yeah, it was a character's welcome sort of week.
Like Harry Hall.
Billy Horshiel, kind of, yeah, I haven't heard that name in a minute.
So I don't know.
I feel like we're kind of circling around the same point, but it's, if this is your thing,
I hope you had a great time watching the bank of Utah championship.
And if not, you know, there's plenty of, I think there's plenty other things to spend your time doing.
Can we cover down on, I feel like it's the best time now to just cover down on the champs tour.
what happened out there this weekend.
What makes you think that what was your transition that you saw there?
What would?
I'm just,
I'm just curious.
Oh,
I have no idea.
It just felt like it.
Yeah.
Yeah,
like I just don't want to get lost to the shuffle because we got a ton of other fun stuff on the agenda here.
But Blockie got into a car collision.
Can you for in case anybody missed it?
Of course, Stephen Walker won again as he always does.
Yes, fourth time.
Yeah. He beat your guy tag ridings.
Blocky finished solo third.
T.C., if people somehow missed this story, could you maybe run them through it?
Yeah, they were up in Allentown, you know, the Lehigh Valley, the Jefferson, Lehigh Valley classic.
I think Blocky was the leader going into the final round.
63 on Saturday.
Yeah, you know, he was talking all sorts of big game.
He was talking to the third person a lot last night about.
you know how at the ally it was different and now that you know michael's going to be michael here
michael's going to talk a lot and you know that makes michael feel good and stuff so so but this is
per bruntly romine close call today at the pGA tour champions event stephen alker's 19 year old
fill in caddy i don't know where where our guy troy was but i don't know it was driving a cart
on the second hole when the cart slid on wet grass and crashed into michael block's cart from behind
The collision described was a light
It was described as a light bump
No Block who was seated in the car
It was checked by an on-site physio
Block checked out fine and is currently
A shot off Alker's lead as he makes the turn
This was at 1230s
It's hit the newswire at 1230
Eastern. 1230 on Eastern
Yeah
Blockie was able to rebound and shoot 69
Solo third out there the champs
He's kind of fucking people up a little bit
On the Champions Tour
I mean, he's playing some nice golf.
He's still not earning points towards the Schwab Cup,
but he is his cashing checks and potentially breaking necks.
Maybe almost had his own neck broken in that fender better.
He should come out big with one of those foam,
one of those foam neck rolls.
He's coming to Northeast Florida next week.
I'm from an attic beach.
How fast is the cart going, do we think?
you have check it out he got he got a huge settlement he's having a party how far did that
cart slide in the wet grass it's a jump to conclusion do you think the catty yelled
anything before he had that was a complete surprise the fact that he got checked out
physio rules what do you think the carts the wheels aren't moving it's just
wet grass.
And you're not like, oh shit, Locky yet so we can't stop.
Michael Block was injured in an unfortunate golf cart accident on a fourth hole.
Oh, nice.
Yeah.
Nice to do.
Wish, wish everybody the, everybody the best.
Glad everybody's okay.
Yeah.
Do you see?
And did you have anything else on the champs tour minute that you wanted to, you wanted to run?
No, no, I was going to go to corn fairy tour next where somebody shot 58 this week and didn't
even didn't even finish in the top 10 that's that's wild that that that kind of barely uh barely
came across my desk this week yeah uta juda sigura uh shot 69 66 56 58 he had a put for 57
uh 68 in the final round i mean our guy ross steleman shot 60 for what like the second
or third time this year dude he can't stop shooting like sub 62 it's almost like it's a freak storm
He doesn't shoot 62.
He finished third again this week.
But he was overtaken for the top spot on the corn free tour.
Sandy Scott, Randy, a guy with a little bit of a loose strapped connection.
Of course, played with his brother, Callum, Scott, at the Rawls during strapped West Texas.
Remind me, is Sandy older or younger than Callum?
Sandy's older.
And it's kind of been just waiting to break through for the last couple of years,
kind of hanging around, hanging around.
and seems to have come in and do his own,
one for the, what, second time in three weeks or something?
Yeah, yeah.
He's been playing awesome golf.
There was a four-hole playoff.
And it was kind of karma.
William Sides was who he was playing against.
And Sides had this egregious TIO situation
in the last hole of regulation.
And then Sides also putts, I think he puts,
like he's righty, but he puts lefty.
which that speaks to some
yeah hold on let me grab this pen
I'm going to write that down
yeah so it was just kind of one of those
and Randy they were playing at the Patriot
I know you're a big fan of the Patriot
out there in Oklahoma yes
Nick Abrelsyk Randy I mean continuing
that that Walker Cup
St. Andrew's Walker Cup
run down here it feels like all those boys played well this week
yeah as well as Carson Young
finished
T3
So yeah, that's kind of a, that's what happened on the corn fairy tour.
I feel like we're, I feel like we're kind of skipping over.
Well, the Dunhill has got its own own big block here.
Okay.
Well, before we get there, TC, why don't we shout at our friends at Arcos.
Should we?
Another strong week for Matt Fitzpatrick finishing inside the top 20 at the aforementioned Dunhill links.
It just continues what has been an incredible year for him.
He picked up his fourth win of the season last week at the FedEx Open de France, Randy.
now the number four ranked player in the world eighth in the race to dubai despite playing only eight events we've talked about it all year but arcos has become a huge part of how matt and adwardo molinari analyze his game and build his strategy and this has turned into the best season of matt's career god he has really been playing really really really good golf and i think neal got a taste of this uh last week neal and salli got to go play oakmont with the arcos team uh it sounded like an unbelievable experience for those guys and i
special golf course for them.
And a place where you want to have a plan before you go out there and start hitting shots.
I know Salli's all up on the Arcos AI strategy.
He's probably laying awake the night before just looking at his game plan, his customized game plan.
It knows all of his tendencies.
He knows his, you know, he's going to factor in the course, the hazards, conditions, winds, all of those things.
Make sure he is completely dialed.
I don't know if it's getting.
I know.
I don't know if it's getting to that level.
I think hopefully there's a section where he can make.
maybe input that, you know, how much, how much protein have you have you had today?
Randy, you've been digging Arcoves.
You're kind of like I, I thought you're fabulous product like skeptical of it.
Because you're like, oh, the data and all this stuff.
And I think it's like, no, like this this helps me play real golf.
Yeah, it holds me accountable out on the golf course.
It, you know, I joke with DJ when I'm collecting data during my rounds.
That's when I have my Arcos on.
But it really does make you think about each shot.
You know, it's like I don't want to throw one of a.
way because I'm going to have to look at it at Arcos. I enjoy seeing it breaks down the performance
of my game into my driving, my iron play, my chipping and pitching and then my putting. And it's like,
I know my putting's not great, right? But how not great is it? Well, now I can put some data to that.
And surprisingly, you know, my short game is not great. It's like things I don't work on. How can
they not be good? That's crazy. Yeah. But it is to your point, it's nice to have perspective
on like, is this bad in a way that like I need to go work on this?
Or is this bad in a way that I'm like, oh, I should actually work on my iron play or something
else more important.
The product, Randy speaking about, is the Arcos Air, which is a very small device that fits
right in your back pocket, makes sure you don't have to be out there on your phone the whole
time.
Just tracks every shot.
You can go through it at the end of the round and just double check and make sure
everything's great.
Also pairs great with the Arco Smart Laser with the rangefinder that will help dial in
your numbers even better.
make sure that the data that you're collecting is as good as possible.
So go to Arcosgolf.com.
Arcos A-R-C-C-C-O-S-Golf.com.
Use promo code N-L-U-15 to say 15%.
Shout out to Arcos.
Truly one of the great products that I think all of us have in our bag.
Yeah. T-C.
Let's talk about the Dunhill, man,
where we had a wonderful, it's always a wonderful week at the Dunhill.
I feel like it's one of those events that just kind of sneaks up on me.
every week and I just always end up having a delightful time.
I know a clique, a man close to your heart, Adrian Moranck,
the victor this week in Scotland.
What did you see at the Dunhill?
Yeah, Morong.
I mean, it was his fifth DP World Tour win.
Blandi had a great congratulatory message on the Graham this evening.
And, you know, he was still wearing his cleaks gear.
Like, he was still cliqued out.
So love seeing that.
ended up winning by two and you know he had a nice walk that was yeah he he's got kind of like a storied history there
not really a story history there but like i was reading shack's newsletter and played a practice round with
tiger there he had some quotes after the round today about how he was just channeling like nicholas and
tiger and all these guys walk you know walking over this fulken bridge uh this afternoon so uh well
played from him i mean he's he's kind of he's in an interesting spot he's playing for his
golf career here and a little bit of a Patrick great situation yeah you know looking for for kind of a way
back in the door so they've got the uh the open day of spagna next week and and then uh and then it's off
off to off to the far east to India and then south Korea to kind of close out and still like
I'm still not sure what they're going to do with Abu Dhabi and in Dubai so but yeah it was uh there was
some changes I was going to say have they been tinkering with the course ahead of the open next year they have
Yeah, they added new T's, 5, 6, 10, 11, and 16.
They added some new bunkers on 16.
I think they beefed up a bunker on 9.
Just kind of stuff that's like little nips and tucks around the edges.
I know they shaved down the roadhole bunker a little bit.
Shack's always hot and bothered about that.
I think there were some, was it like some buildup around the roadhole bunker that was like stopping balls from rolling in essentially or kind of almost like kick them the other way.
So I think they made that a little bit.
bit more more palatable i like the i like the idea of the bunkers on 16 right i think i think there's like a
it's a good one to kind of force people to to take on that fence on the right side like that's that's
kind of the whole interest of of the whole is is can you play close to that fence line on the right
side and when you can just kind of blow it over there in the in the left side and sort of take
the angle especially under the gun it's uh it's not quite as interesting so i i kind of like that
I know they moved the bunkers on two just to kind of like keep up with technology essentially,
just like moving them farther down the landing zone.
But a nice preview, you know, especially as we get ready for the open next year.
Yeah.
I think it seems like they're going after a little bit more width like coming in on 16 and 17
to, you know, open up kind of some more angles and stuff like that.
So we'll see.
Was 11 like a much different look or I'm trying to picture where they put that new T-box
or created a new tea.
I think the way the wind played this week,
I didn't really notice that much out of, like, the turn out there.
Okay.
So I guess the loop it's called.
But, yeah, like, I know some of that stuff.
Like, it just didn't play as it probably will during the open.
The wind's out of the, you know, different direction,
a little bit sogier and all that.
So, but, yeah, Casey Jarvis kind of had this thing in the bag and I know.
Kind of bottled it coming in, which,
you know, would have been kind of continuing on with the theme of guys who got left off their respective President's Cup teams.
But yeah, so Moranke ended up winning by two, but Jarvis kind of a befuddling, a couple of befuddling, like you made a bogey on nine, which you just can't do bogey at 11 and then bogeyed 17.
So it was kind of just limped home and Moran just went and got it.
our guy Mikey Stewart
What a, what a
Dillette, that's just like things that
fill up the cup, you know?
He's a, kind of
Scotland's native son, a guy
from Trune that we got to play with.
That was a couple years ago now. What was the open at
Trune? Two years ago?
23? Maybe three years?
Or 24 maybe?
Yeah, we got to play. We did a video,
Tron and Solie playing a match at Trune.
And when we were there, I don't remember
if it was the R&A that set us up with him or the,
or the club or how we ended up getting paired with with michael stewart but just very casually he's
like oh yeah you know i grew up here and i'm kind of a mini tour player and i've battled to martin tour i knock
around the tartan tour the challenge tour you know yeah and he's like i'll just i'll show you guys
or 65 or something that you've ever seen and it's just so he's kind of one of those guys like you follow
his career and uh as he as he's battling to kind of try to make it and yeah man just like far and away the
best result of his of his pro career as he's been you know on kind of this journeyman track and
ends up tying Tommy Fleetwood for fourth at the old course shot 66 today just an awesome feel
good story playing on a sponsor exemption uh which is just it's like exactly what you want to see right
is like is Scottish golf tournament homa golf giving a leg up to like somebody who everybody's rooting
for everybody really wants to play well and then he goes out and actually does it uh it's just a
true like kind of kind of the high point of the week for me is was we're seeing that uh this week so
amen massive shout out to michael he's just a lovely guy uh he's previously or he was 979th in the
world going into the week because best best ever has been 694 so uh he's he's he's coming in with
you know some some good momentum at the end of the year here he's 36 years old like
like i don't know i love those stories of just lifetime grinders
that stick with it.
Well, especially at golf courses like this, right?
Where it's just like, you know, it's like, yeah, man,
we all, we all know the old course.
We all know Karnusti.
We all know these places.
But just like, can you figure it out?
And it's just so conducive to a, you know, a lifelong touring pro.
Just being like, man, I'm going to just, I'm going to grind it out at these places.
But I think I, I know, I know these golf courses.
I played them my entire life.
And I'm going to go figure it out and go toe to toe with, you know,
fucking Tommy Fleetwood, Brooke the Kepka, and Bob McIntosh.
like all these great things called board yeah it's just it's just awesome it really really made me happy
to uh see that this week bob bob had some some more issues with the drones he was perturbed
about the drones again this week that's kind of a an ongoing battle ongoing thing here
where do you stand on this tc where do you stand on the drones he like he seems to be the only one
that's had a problem with it out there this is after he slagged off
the road hole a couple years ago.
Did he maybe try to walk some of that back?
I think I think he was trying to maybe put the GED back in the bottle on that one a little bit.
Moronk and his his teammate, you know, it's a pro am of course.
And Moronk's teammate is the lead singer of the band Keene.
Keene?
Keene.
Like somewhere only we know?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, how about that?
Yeah.
They, they, that's a good song.
Yeah.
Big J. Monaghan.
and Nicholas Norgaard were like Will Ahmed the the whoop guy and then Jay Bonahan that was like the top top three I think in the uh coming down the stretch there so uh what else we got oh grandi you got Pierce Morgan did a collab post with the DP World Tour that got absolutely dragged earlier in the week awesome what were they up to just it was like some some match that he was playing against his buddy Dermad Desmond had a bunch of tennis balls thrown in him yeah this is a topic topic of
Do you know what the impetus was? What was the point of these? What were they trying to get across?
It was a bunch of disgruntled. It would be like Cincinnati Reds people throwing, you know,
tennis balls, like at the Western and Southern tennis tournament, ATP event, you know, out at Coney Island.
It would be like them throwing them at the Castellinies because they're not happy with how they're running the club, which, you know, as far as I know.
And as far as I know, like, Celtic is like by far and away, like spends more money than anybody else in
Scottish football and has a massive leg up.
So, you know, I'm not, you know, I'm not super.
Listen, I don't want to wait in because I know we're going to get like 11 or 12
emails from Scots tomorrow.
Be like, you know, either Ranger supporters about how Celtic cheats or.
Sure.
I'd advise us to just not take a position on this, on this issue.
I think we, we wish everybody the best and we're doing the best we can to educate
ourselves on the, you know, complicated situation with, with Scottish and Irish football.
and we'll have more on this story.
It's not even Irish football.
It's just Scottish football.
Well, just I'm saying we're trying to cover it all, TC.
I just, you know.
This is after Randy called him Nigel Ferrang.
I was going to ask, was Count Binface in the pro-am draw?
Didn't see Count Ben face.
Yeah, didn't see Count Ben face.
The RNA did get a new captain this week, though, too.
How about that?
Claire Dowling.
I think it's Dowling.
I think it is.
And they have like, I think Shackleford had it in his newsletter.
But they do like, she hits the opening shot and then people kind of grab it.
And then they, they buy it basically off of whoever finds the ball.
Is that kind of essentially what happens, which it was like one of the St. Andrews caddies who got it.
It's just a, you know, fun, fun traditions.
And the first female captain of the RNA.
Just a lovely, lovely moment.
That was cool to watch, watch those videos coming on with St. Andrews.
A couple other lovely ones.
Our friend Rue McDonald's and his business partner, Lauren,
opened, you know, reopened St. Andrews golf company at eight golf place.
So if you're in St. Andrews in the coming months or years,
you should have pop in there for some, some hickories and some lovely, you know, accoutrements.
Looks like a very, very, very cool space.
Cannot wait to visit in person.
It just looks like a, yeah, lovely kind of tribute to the game and a fun place to fill up your,
Philip, you know,
soothe your golfing soul.
I mean,
Rue,
I don't know that there's anybody
that kind of loves Scottish golf
more than,
more than Rue.
And so it's just like,
him having a place
just like right off the 18th
at the old course is just,
it's surreal, man.
It's awesome.
So happy for those guys.
And then last thing I had from,
from Scotland was this guy,
Tom Eggvers,
who tweeted,
I've been texting Matt Fitzpatrick
every time he wins.
Only issue is he has no idea.
idea who I am. And so there's just, you know, there's, there's a whole thing. He's like,
when number four on the year. Yes, sir. Thank you. Who is this number please? So it reminded
Randy and I, I don't remember how we got Bill Haas's number. This was back in like, what,
like 2007? Uh, even earlier. But yeah, it was in that time frame, like 2005 to 2007.
This is pre pre-Fedex Cup, Bill Haas. What year to Bill Haas on the FedEx Cup?
Gosh, as a professional golf podcaster, I should know this.
I'm going to say that was 2013.
11.
It's right before I started the PJ tour then.
I thought I was there.
I was there.
I was a northern trust in 12 and then the 18th national in 13.
But yeah, Randy and I would just, we would, we would either text or call Bill sometimes, like walking on from the bars.
Like one a.
I'm like, yo, what's up?
Bill.
It's D.C. and big?
Well, you know the other one I was reminded of?
Doesn't Pusch congratulate Jim Harbaugh when he wins big football games?
And it's kind of the same situation.
Harbaugh has no idea who's texting him.
There have not been a lot of congratulatory messages.
Can I?
I just want to circle back real quick.
Would Bill Haas answer the phone?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And he would just be like, hey, what's up, guys?
Well.
Who is it?
We'd be like, it's Tron and Big Randy.
What's up, Bill?
We'd be like, what are you guys doing?
We'd be like, well, we're just, you know, we're heading home from the bars in Oxford, just seeing what's up.
And like, you know, we did a lot.
Congratulations you had your win at the AT&T.
Yeah, yeah.
He would start to play along.
He'd be like, oh, boys, I'm out, you know, having a couple pops myself tonight.
We're out the desert.
We're out of, you know, we're on Phoenix this week.
Or, you know, we're.
Have you ever met him in person?
I don't think I have
this is surreal
what a weird
what a weird connection
I think I probably still
I'm curious if Bill surely somebody listening must know Bill
if Bill remembers this
I mean we're talking 20 years ago
did does he remember ever getting on the phone
with some random dudes
let me see if I still got his number
I'm kind of reeling for this
that's that's wild
I feel like no longer have his number
I was going to say I feel like
we got to know somebody from Atlanta who knew him and we're like,
holy shit, you know Bill Haas.
Like, let's give him a call.
And I think that's how it started.
Again, this is pre this is way pre-Fred FedEx Cup Bill Haas.
This is like, you know, 2006 like rookie second year Bill Haas.
We might need to be like a fantasy punishment or something.
Like I feel like we would have enough access now that you could get,
you could get a number that would just like if you had to call somebody and
and taught you like it would make your skin fall off.
I think to do that.
Just like, hey, you know, Brooks, this is Big Randy.
Brooks would be the worst to do that way.
Yeah, I just wanted to say, what's up, man?
Just keep on, keep on, keep on.
He pounded.
Keep doing you, brother.
Yeah.
Brooks played great this week, by the way.
He did.
Six to six in the final round, which is, you know, as a Brooks respecter and an appreciator.
That's fun to see.
Did Johnny Rombo play this week?
I don't think he did.
No.
did not.
The curious case of Johnny Rombo continues.
Maddie Jordan had it running and he shot 75 on the old today, which is, I know.
You hate to.
Jarring.
You hate to see that.
Your Danes are,
your Danes are kind of playing well,
writ large,
T.
Codkhan.
Poking around a little bit.
Yacob Olison playing well.
Obviously,
Norgaard,
we mentioned.
Still,
we did go through another year with the Rasmus bet has,
you know,
a couple close calls.
We both kind of held serve on that one.
on the continuing which Rasmus will win a major first.
I feel like I have that next year.
I feel like time is on my side, though.
For sure.
Yeah, no, I have a pretty fixed.
I mean, I've hitched my entire wagon to Rasmus Hoaggart.
You have all the other Rasmuses.
Yeah.
We'll see.
We'll see.
You want to do strategic alliance?
Yeah, I think that's a good place to go next.
Good piece by Bob Herrig, who's been doing a newsletter the last couple weeks,
couple months called the Daily Drive.
Big shout out to that.
One of the things I love reading in my inbox, shout out to Bob,
always has good sources, always has good interesting perspective on stuff.
He did a write-up this week about the strategic alliance
between the PJ Tour and the DP World Tour,
which is set to expire in 2027 and is currently being renegotiated.
I think Rolap kind of alluded to this a little bit in his comments at the Tour
Championship and his most recent sort of press conference.
I think it's going to end up being one of the more interesting things that, you know, if you follow these things like very closely, just how the DP World Tour sort of qualification shakes out for the Challenger slash championship series as as the world of the PJ Tour changes.
They rolled out a lot of qualifying criteria over the last couple weeks, but all the DP World Tour stuff is still still a little bit of question mark as they kind of renegotiate this strategic alliance.
And there were some good details that I think were pulled from, I believe it was a 2025 tax filings maybe, or some of the income statements, that the PJ Tour has contributed more than $77 million to the PGA European Tour, which is the organization that operates the DP World Tour.
Contribution is part of the Strategic Alliance and is up from $24 million in 2024.
The deal, this is quoting Bob here, the deal between the two tours was made in 2020 and saw the PJ Tour get a 15% ownership.
stake in European Tour Productions.
That was kind of the way that, you know, I don't know if this was,
it's kind of the way they made the transaction work, which was like we need to sort
of prop up the DP World Tour as a lot of this live stuff is going on.
So why don't we buy an ownership stake in PJTor or in European Tour productions?
That ownership stake is scheduled to increase 40% by the end of 2027 as that deal kind of
shakes out.
And because like this is how the Strategic Alliance,
is kind of set up.
The PJ Tour has agreed to underwrite purses
on the DP World Tour,
which is why the DP World Tour has reported record purses,
or did at least...
And they've said, like, they have to go up
however many percent per year.
And so basically the PJ Tour,
this is quoting Bob,
the PJ Tour has agreed
to a year-over-year percentage increase in purses
regardless of how many events are played
or if sponsors are lost.
So what does that mean?
It means that the PJ Tour
in exchange for kind of,
like, you know, being lockstep throughout the live situation with the DP World Tour has agreed
to fund a lot of these purses where there's been, they've, they've had trouble finding certain
sponsors, they've had trouble keeping certain purses up. Fields have gotten a little bit weaker.
It's just been a, it's been a weird situation, but purses have continued to go up.
And I think this is the first time I've seen a number associated with it, which is, again, as I mentioned,
that's $77 million in 2025. And so what, I feel like they, they reported the number in the
past, I think a number just wasn't as jarring. Now it's like, oh my shit, $77 million. That's a lot of money.
That's a lot of money. And especially like, again, more questions than answers here probably,
but you start looking at the strategic sports group stuff and switching the, you know, the half of the
PJ tour to a for-profit entity. How much are they going to be interested in propping up the DP World
Tour? How much is the DP World Tour going to be interested in becoming a feeder tour for the
championship track of the PJ tour.
It's just, it's all kind of like a big, giant, hairy, watch this space.
Is that a pretty fair characterization of a TZ?
I think that's a very fair characterization.
And I think, you know, we'll see what the DP World Tour.
I think the tour is basically said to him, like, hey, you guys can have September through
January.
Like, it's yours.
Like, feed on that, you know, but it's also tough to play a lot of golf tournaments in
Europe in September, October, you know, it's, it's a summer season. So, you know, it essentially
seeds the, seeds Asia and, you know, Australian Pacific, all of that to to the DP World Tour,
should they want it. But, you know, it's kind of slim pickings as far as commercial opportunities
down there as well. Right. So, yeah, we will, we will see what shakes out there, but
some interesting reporting from, from Bob. There was a live, unsecured creditors list.
I don't know if you saw that.
I did.
These were essentially like the people that hadn't been paid and were kind of filing
complaint.
I think this is just the people that like were owed for the, like they were in arrears for just the previous quarter or whatever.
So like you, you know, Q3 of this year.
And yeah, Michael Assasso looks to be the leader of this cabal.
Which very notable is the person who won the last.
Live event of the season. I don't know if that yeah, you can read into that.
What you like. Premier Golf League Limited is is among those people.
Something called fever labs. Rick Shields Media, Randy, I hate to see your guy Rick Shields
not being whole all kinds of other all kinds of other stuff. I just I think in another life
it's like I think you could you could spend just weeks like getting into the live bankruptcy stuff and just like
really pouring over these documents.
They end up sounding a little bit like Charlie Brown noise to me,
kind of trying to make heads and tails of what's going on here.
I'm sure there's some real goodies in there.
You would really have to dig.
Yes.
That's exactly right.
Who owns what?
Who's owed what?
All kinds of, it seems like all kinds of little paper trails are going to start to pop up here.
Well, they can call me when they're ready to unload the IP for the cleaks and the history,
the banners and all that stuff.
I'm willing to talk.
I think you said it best.
I think that this was on LinkedIn or something, wasn't it?
The brand manager of Kleeks I saw was quoting you and your message about how the
cleaks are going to outlive, live golf, and what they've done is so much more important
than, you know, birdies and bogeys essentially.
It's just, yeah, I just can't wait to, I'm giddy, T.C.
I'm getting what the next step is for the cleats.
Sounds like the PGA tour won't even entertain anyone's call.
until they're sure that they've been released from their live contracts,
but Liv obviously won't say anything about releasing anyone.
So Sergio doesn't seem to be happy about that.
He's seeking official termination of his live contract.
Obviously, he wants to go back to the DP World Tour, who I believe he said, quote, what,
this tour is fucked.
Yeah, I just feel like you could take the whole block quote and just be like,
dog, let me just return and serve here, man.
I just, yeah, you guys are so fucked.
Yeah, much like the soccer situation.
We're wishing everybody the best, T.C.
And then, yeah, there was TMZ news this week that Phil Miclinson
had entered a treatment center earlier this year for treatment for family trauma and addiction.
So not a lot of details other than I think he's, I think he's out.
I think he'd like this was kind of post-paced.
So, yeah.
Yeah, I don't know.
That just keeps twisting and turning.
Yeah.
continues to
cool spot for golf
yeah
two generations
you guys want to talk reinstated ams now
yeah exactly let me
TC we had some world golf
Hall of Fame nominations
this week I did like this
there was a hundred and sixty two public
nominations
I wish I had I had kind of caught
this public nomination comment
I would have had a couple people I would love to
I would love public are these nominations
on my yeah I would have
I would have stuffed a couple of the suggestion box.
You know, Randy, you got any strap people or anything that come to mind of just who needs to be in the World Golf Hall of Fame?
I think Blocky needs to be considered.
Blocky should absolutely be considered.
Gosh, did you kind of put me on the spot?
Am I missing anybody obvious?
Back nine Johnny I could think of as like a pretty first ballot.
Yeah, we can revisit that.
It was whittled down to a panel of finalists.
Shout out to Solly.
Solly, I believe, is on this panel, actually.
So that's very exciting.
I think he's on the panel for professional golfers.
Correct.
There's different areas, right?
Or different.
Yeah.
Well, there's four categories.
There's like male competitors.
There's female competitors.
Historic players and then contributors.
And so our finalists, we had, why don't you guys give me a yay, nay?
If you're, if you're voting on these panels, okay?
Jim Furrick.
We'll see how he does next year to Dare Manor.
So you're abstaining from the vote.
I'm abstaining from the vote.
I also think it's so tough.
It's so tough to consider people when like Fred Coubles and DL3 are in the Hall of Fame.
Right.
Is this, yeah, that's the question.
Is this based on people already in or is this just my true opinion?
I mean, I feel like, yeah, we're kind of getting into like well-worn territory here.
but like Hall of Fame like what what what what were do you put me emphasis on there right I mean
Freddie couples is very famous one of the most famous golfers of ever of all time like
did I mean John Daly's John Daley's John Daley's yeah exactly one two majors I yeah I don't know
okay well that didn't go great on the thumbs up thumbs down uh Corey paven as a as a
rat uh two two thumbs off that hello if Lisa if Lisa goes then
Lisa should be in the hall of alphas.
Justin Rose.
The great man.
He's a great man, but he's not a hall of famer.
Yeah, I think he's like tabbed for Justin, you know, Sir Justin Rose or OBE or whatever.
I don't think, I don't think Team Rose is in the Hall of Fame quite yet.
He needs another major, I think.
I think I agree with you, which brings us to Adam Scott.
All these guys have the same profile.
No.
I know.
They're trying to sneak them all in.
Yeah.
No, I agree. Randy, I'm curious on the, on the female side. Christy Kerr?
Yeah, I think.
Christy Kerr gets a thumbs up for me.
Lisa Lett Newman.
I'm to be honest, I don't know a ton about about Lisa Lett's game.
Well, yeah, T.C. What can you tell us about Lisa?
She's 60.
So let's see here.
She, I mean, she had 37 professional wins.
her first win
state said was the U.S. Women's Open
1988 at...
We're at, though.
That's a great question.
Let's see here.
U.S. Women's Open, and it was in Maryland.
It was a Baltimore Country Club.
Okay.
Okay.
Five far.
Get her in.
Waiver in.
Get her on the team.
She also won the Women's British over 94, over D.
And Anika.
Not a major, then, I think.
Famous.
Not a major, man.
Yeah.
But who, where do we think that was?
I was at Woburn.
Sure.
That's real, that's real golf.
And then she won 11 times on the, on the ladies European tour, a few national opens.
A couple German opens.
I've heard enough, I think.
Sign me up.
I'm in.
She won five times in Japan, which I respect the hell out of.
I think the next one, next one's a no-brainer.
Doddy Pepper.
as a competitor she is being nominated as a competitor yes see that's where it gets tricky what's the case for
yeah i mean i don't think i could rattle off the whole she won 17 times she won two majors both of them
were the dyn ashore can you be in the world golf hall of fame without being in the l pga hall of fame
ooh good question well that yeah but that's where it's like all right your her contributions i come
back and talk to me in five more years well that's where i'm saying are they saying competitors or
I would put her in.
I would green light her in as a golf contributor.
Which is funny.
We'll get there in a second,
but that's where her colleague,
Jim Nance,
has been nominated.
Famously won zero majors,
but it's called a lot of them.
And then Randy,
Inby Park,
who won all the majors.
That's a no brand.
Everybody on this list,
she can come right in.
Yes.
Guys,
how is Ted Ray not in the Hall of Fame?
He's just being nominated in the year of our Lord, 2027.
It was like an oversight back in the day.
The great man, Jay Siegel.
Jay Segal, he would be appalled if he saw the reinstated stuff that's going on in the case.
That's a very good point.
And Alexis Sterling again, I got to admit, this is kind of, I'll shout out the Hall of Fame.
This is just super not familiar with Alexis Sterling's game.
So this is a good reason to.
Exactly.
It's a good reason to chime in, you know.
Alexis Sterling, American Canadian.
She won the U.S. Women's Am in 1916, 1919 and 1920.
She won the Canadian Women's Amm in 1920 and 1934.
The resume is looking a little light, if we're being honest.
I just don't think there was a ton for her to win at that time.
It kind of sounds like she won it all.
She had roots in Atlanta, but she was also Canadian.
which is interesting yeah listen i couldn't i couldn't get over this this next one dege like truly
appalling that he's not oh not not being in well that's what i was going to say so this brings us to
the contributor section i'm going to wave all three of these guys in just as maybe i'm great inflation
but uh harry colt number one i i think an architect that i uh the older i get the more courses
of his that i play the more i i just think he's an absolute genius and uh because i'm sure somebody
listening is asking what's the most famous or most renowned harry colt you did uh the splash world
yeah sunningdale which would be pine valley for anybody yeah uh splash world just closed also the i the
the actual st george's hill uh swinley rye like you you know a lot over there he did what he did horono
uh he did hoylake randy mere field or you know certain stuff there uh
Um, he was responsible.
Shout out.
Milwaukee country club.
Yeah.
County Sligo, Old Elm in, uh, Chicago.
Okay.
Um, yeah.
I mean, shit, like Randy, the stuff that we just played in, in the Netherlands, uh, Utrecht
DePont and, uh, Royal Hague.
And, uh, we didn't play Eindhoven, but we played Hilversum.
Like there, the guy was a, was a menace.
I mean, a freaking.
madness like i'm not doubting him i was purely just wondering because it's a name i hear a lot and i'm like
what is the signature you know yeah he also lost a lot of courses to like world war two
because he like he did a lot of stuff in kind of northern europe and france and you know northern
germany and in the netherlands so some of his stuff's been kind of lost the time i was i had a
long conversation with wolfey about this last week because he's yeah he's fired up he's mad as hell
if Wolfie's for him, then I'm for him.
Yeah. Yeah.
He's like basically like we shouldn't be like he was like a founding member of like the R&A rules committee.
Like he like brought the game together.
He was an administrator of the game.
Like he did so much beyond the architecture stuff.
And Wolfie was like nobody else should get into the Hall of Fame until this, this has been, this right has been.
Or this wrong has been righted.
I fully agree.
Fully agree.
The second one on the list, Butch Harmon.
Just kind of a, you know, career in the game.
Think of the swings he's touched.
Think of the majors they've led to.
Personality now through TV.
It's just a, yeah, it's just kind of one of those lives in golf, you know,
kind of a golf royalty.
Yeah.
From a, you know, from a high profile golf family.
Yeah.
And I'm not saying Butch is like on desk door, but he's 83 and he's going to be in someday, like,
Let's have the honor while the person's still alive.
It means so much more to him and his whole family.
Totally agree, which I think brings us to Jim Nance.
I'm a complete Nance simp.
I'm a big Nance guy.
I think nobody does it better.
Nobody makes it look easier.
Very easy to clown on some of the golf's hushed hollow tones.
Like the tie stuff.
I get it.
But miss me with all of it.
I think what he does is so much harder than anybody possibly realizes.
And I think he makes it look so easy. He makes events feel big. He never takes a playoff.
You know, he's never just like, oh, who's that guy? He does his homework. He's there in the biggest
moments. I just sign me up. Massive gymnast guys. I mean this with the utmost respect,
Hall of Fame schmoozer too. Like, yeah. I've been walking around Pebble Beach before and it'll come.
Oh, Big Randy. Oh, I heard you just got that. I'm like, Jim, how do you know any of this stuff?
How do you have groom in your head to remember that?
It's crazy.
Yeah.
Oh, we met at the Ryder Cup at Ristling Straits.
It's just, it's, it's bewildering to see it in, to see it in person.
But more, again, I have a theme of the day.
More on this story as it developed.
We'll see, uh, we'll see who gets in.
But I think they have the ceremony next year at the open.
Uh, that was a lot of talk about the World Golf Hall of Fame.
It's most we've ever talked about the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Well, that's my concern.
I feel like they, they let certain people in because they know they're going to, they're going to fill seats.
They're going to push some tickets.
Try it.
know draw eyeballs uh yeah i mean i i suppose so i don't know i don't think lisa led
newman or alexis sterling or put butts in seats i think where i start to struggle is like
like like like under the current kind of i don't know parameters like zach johnson like if
those guys are hall of famers like zach johnson's fucking hall of famer i know and i don't really want to
live in that world you got to be
You're right. We got to be careful what we're voting.
We got voting record, you know, gets put out in the public.
Who knows?
Can you stand by this in a couple of years?
They should be putting him in in St. Andrews.
Practically built that town, T.C.
Starting.
Moving on, T.C. at the Asian games, your boy, Tom Kim, wins the gold medal,
famously took off.
He missed the kind of the end of the President's Cup because he was flying over to go try to win the Asian games.
to a try to win the Asian games
and be try to exempt himself
from military service mandatory
South Korean military service
which fly the banner we rocked him
he did it
he won gold and
that winning the Asian games is one of the things
that exempts you from that
from that status so
congratulations to Tom Kim on his victory
it always feels weird to be like oh congrats man
you don't have to go to the military like that's
it's a weird way to say it but you know
I think you know what I'm
you know what I'm saying.
A meaningful thing to not kind of like derail a phenom golf career,
a global superstar golf career in the middle of,
in the middle of his peak.
And TC, I feel like actually maybe both of you guys,
am I remembering correctly?
You guys have both come out as Tom Kim appreciators, supporters.
Yeah, I would say I'm a respecter,
acknowledger, maybe not a true appreciator yet.
I feel like I've got to walk before I can run.
I don't know what qualifies as a sim.
TC, we got to get to the 20, 30 Asian games, I think.
So they only play it every four years?
Yeah.
Okay.
I'll try to figure out where the next one is.
Well, I think TC, unless I'm missing something,
that kind of concludes our sort of pro-golf, competitive golf.
Does.
Standpoint, outside of the mid-am, where Andrew Bailey was your winner,
at Toledo.
Randy, the next Asian games are in Doa in 2030,
which makes total sense.
And then after that, they're in Riyadh.
I say we take our pick.
Either one of those sounds great to me, T.C.
I feel more comfortable in Doa.
I wish you guys all the best.
Let me know.
Just text me if you, if you need anything.
You know what?
Maybe I'll throw this.
I'll throw this out.
If you guys go to the Asian games,
let me shout out Lagoon Pillows.
Can I?
Lagoon.
just launched its biggest upgrade yet to its best selling pillow meet the otter two i think you guys
are both otter guys i'm a side sleeper big otter guys it's and the otter two is the same
adjustable soft yet supportive feel that people love perfect for side sleepers like tc if you think
you might be a sleeper akin to tc the otter two could be a pillow for you people know i i'd take
my sleep seriously too i got surgery to sleep better like i am committed to this these pillows are awesome
I think one of my favorite things we were talking about this the other day, T.C. still goes back to his night shift work at the hotel change.
Like, I just, my sleep's been just messed up since. It's been 20 years. I just can't, I can't fix it. But the lagoon pillow is helping T.C.
It is. It's been like 13 or 14 years.
New three chamber design for more consistent support and better personalization.
Breathable mesh for greater airflow, better temperature regulation. And the reason, the reason that is that we're, the reason.
I was going to bring it up. Lagoon also has amazing travel pillows. This is not part of the read.
I'm just going to shout this out personally. If you guys are going to Doa, if you're going to
Riyadh, I would really rack up your Lagoon travel pillow and get that thing going either for the airplane,
maybe for the hotel. I think you guys are going to sleep a lot better when you're over there at the Asian games.
So I think that's a no-brainer. Stop wasting time, buying pillows from big box stores. If you're
serious about your sleep like TC, start with Lagoon. Go to Lagoon's sleep.com.
slash NLU and use code NLU for 15% off.
Again, invest in a good pillow, folks.
I like multiple.
This is not, I went years of my life just using kind of a shitty pillow.
There's no reason you have to do that.
If you're not happy with your pillow, get a good pillow.
It's one of the things you use like really every day.
Yes.
Invest in quality.
Well, before that, I was kind of, I was kind of alluding to it.
the midam at the Lido, Andrew Bailey, your winner.
T.C., you've played golf with him, I believe, right?
This was a thrilling victory for you.
Yeah.
Oh, Bailey's the man.
I think he, like, there was a bunch of chatter about all the reinstated am stuff.
He is a reinstated am.
He played, he had a cup of coffee playing pro golf.
And then I think he made like, eight grand and then like shattered his wrist, basically,
because he was a big rock climber as well.
And so he's been the, the, you know, like, I've worked with him.
in a business capacity for longer than I've known him on a golf front like he's he's the national
greengrass sales manager from holderness and born yeah and um yeah i mean i went up to uh cab at
uh nova scot uh nova scot with him last year and yeah i mean to say like we were playing golf together
it would be like maybe a maybe an overstatement like i feel like we were playing different sports
uh i think he he birdied like seven of the first eight holes one of the days we're playing
and just really, really good golfer.
So kind of a cool story, too.
He played, like he'd never played the leader before.
He'd been going up there for the last seven or eight years on, you know,
just account visits, but had never played it.
And he's a big architecture guy.
He plays out of Canterbury in Cleveland.
And yeah, just, I don't know, like really, really impressive victory.
Because everybody I've talked to you that played in that thing was like,
that's the firmest golf course I've ever stepped foot on.
yes i talked to huber stopped at my house on the way home uh and and and we were filming some
hitting cup stuff and he he reiterated the same thing he's just like i've i've just never
i don't think i've ever seen a golf course like that it's just like landing landing a ball on a coffee
table i mean it's just it is he kept he kept trying to do the noise and he's just like it's like
it's like it sounds like you're hitting like plywood is is what the greens were sound just
like it's like a reverberating sort of
of like a sort of noise it just sounded like they had the place turned up to a million and it turned
into a proper test which and you know and i know like nate the guy that Andrew beat in the finals
i think Nate had his pGA tour card one year like believe so one of the corner tour i believe is
Nate smith like very good player from Idaho he's a home builder now so I'm very much of the don't
hate the player hate the game like get your shit together on this front USGA because this
This thing's going to keep smoldering if you don't.
Can I ask what I'm obviously on the same page.
I don't think anybody's doing anything wrong.
I don't think it's scummy.
I think Andrew Bailey probably wants to play in the Masters.
It's going to be, that sounds awesome, you know?
Like, I think it's, I think it's great.
He's well within the right to enter the tournament as is humor, as is all these other people.
But I'm with you that, like, I don't think that's really the spirit of the championship here.
is it's supposed to be kind of like for non-college working age, you know, working, working people who are not making, you know, who I've never made a career out of playing professional golf.
And so what is like, I don't know, I just, I see everybody mad as hell about this, which I get it.
People get mad as hell on the internet.
But what is, what is reform look like to you?
What are we, what are we talking about?
Are we taking people's guns away?
What happens to the people who have already been reinstated?
Are you looking at all these people and being like, sorry, Nate Smith, you're like, no, we're taking it back away now.
We messed up.
I just don't know.
I just think it's like everything, man.
I just think it's more complicated than people think once you start kind of getting into the nuts and bolts.
Like Mike's supposed to the guy, you know, who works for Calloway, who played on tour for a long time.
One of the U.S. senior or senior am.
Yeah, he's got a ton of money in his PGA tour pension, right?
like he like that to me is just kind of you know it just doesn't really align with what we're doing
here but again like it's he's well within his rights to apply for reinstatement and they're well
within their rights to decline him for that but not only are they not declining they've been
just waving guys through with minimal penalty you know two three and like we've talked to huber
about it um you know as far as hey like i like i'd like to keep playing golf recreation
Where would you like me to keep playing that?
You know, and it's like it's sticky, right?
I don't, you know, I don't know.
I think that personally, like,
I think if you want to go tee it up against the college kids
who are playing every day and essentially being paid to do so now with NIL,
like you do that, but I feel like the US midam.
And even, I don't know, even the senior is like,
it's almost, it's almost fenced off for, you know,
guys that aren't grinding it out like that.
that. Yeah. Randy, where do you draw the line? I think if you ever turn professional, you're
disqualified. Like, I think that decision should mean something. And if you don't think you have a real
future as a professional golfer, you know, if you're like, ah, I just want to go chase it and I can
always fall back. Like, I think that decision could, should carry real weight behind it.
Should be a fork in the road. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
I think I'm like it's pretty binary right yeah I agree with you I mean I think the the thing that a lot of people will flip back is like the club pro side of things and like hey I'm you know playing section events and I'm working 60 hours a week in a golf shop and that's not the same as like trying to chase it on the Canadian tour the corn fairy tour or whatever uh which again like it just seems like there has to be a logical sort of common sense but difference between those two things.
system over there, you know.
And if you don't want to be a club pro, then like,
but then you got the other,
you got the other issues on that front.
You got, you know, what's his name down in Texas?
Omar.
Omar.
Omar.
Omar's going to cut back in it.
New level.
I don't know.
Of course, I'm simplifying it.
But I do think it's like, let's just, you know,
chop it to the most essence of it.
Like, if you turn pro, then you're not,
you've forgone your amateur status.
I don't understand.
how you get it back. That that rubs me the wrong way. I agree with you. And that's where I think,
like if you're going to try to, I don't know, if you're going to try to have a conversation like
this, it's like you almost do have to oversimplify it. Like what are we even talking about to begin
with here? You know, like what is the nut of what we're talking about? And you kind of have to
almost have that conversation first because if they try to make it like the tax code and it's
just like, well, it's all about the number of qualified starts and the number of qualified
income with this bubble. I'm like, that sucks, man. That's not going to make anybody happy.
And it's just hard to understand. So that's where I do tend to oversimplify it with you as well,
which is like if we're going to do something, we might as well just make it pretty clear what the
fork in the road is. Just knowing that that might be a little messy as well, I guess. But I agree.
I think it should mean something.
I think that's very well, well said.
I think it's a bigger issue.
Like, I know it's a big issue right now,
but I do think it's an important issue.
I think it speaks to the essence of the game.
And I'm the last person that would say something like that.
But I do think this is, it means something.
Like, I just think we've gotten to this weird spot.
And I really do, it's kind of a blemish on the USGA right now.
I feel like, personally.
like yeah we i agree i mean it's it's crazy to it it sucks for the people who are playing
really good golf and it sucks for the lito and it sucks for kind of the whole tournament that like
that's that's kind of the discourse around this event now yeah but when half the guy more than half
the guys in the totally quarterfinals or you know round of 64 reinstated ams it's like man
that's that's kind of and then like i think the one body that could swing the hammer on
this would be like all right cool like augusta cool we're not going to give you guys an exemption
anymore for this because it's yeah we're gonna be our spirit yeah right uh agree well it just it seems
like i mean you saw it kind of like with the cold noist reinstatement and that that sort of being
paused or put on hold or or rejected i forget what the actual like outcome was but that that seemed
like the typical point of like don't call us we'll call you yeah it seems like it seems like there is
if not full on reform
at least more investigation
kind of afoot
and so we'll see
but yeah it's going to continue to be a thing
because this is one of those events that like
it's kind of only golf
perves that like really care about it
to begin with you know and it's
it's a small amount of conversation
to begin with and so when that conversation
is all being had by people who just
take the game very very seriously it's like
it's kind of how we're
where we're going to find ourselves
Randy, do you want to talk about taking a lesson?
Yeah, we can.
Let's break this down because I think you and I are in a similar boat.
Do you want to set it up or do you want me to set it up?
Sure. I'll set it up.
Well, I'll set up the specifics, but I also want to talk broadly about how you feel about taking a lesson and just implementing swing advice.
I just, I kind of want to plumb the depths of your psyche as much as you're down for this.
You and I took a trip to Boston, the Greater Boston area.
Recently, we did a shoot with our friends at Titleist, which was awesome.
Tytlist has a bunch of great coaches on staff.
They do all these kind of fun video shoots with their sort of ambassador-type folks throughout the year.
And so you and I went up to their Manchester Lane facility, and we took a lesson with Jason Bale, who is one of the top instructors in the world, works with Ryan Gerard, works with Lucas Glover, works with Archive Bed.
shout out to the shield tc just an absolutely lovely guy one of the clearest
guineigators i think i've ever seen uh he watched me hit one ball and i think as a courtesy
watched me hit one more and was just like would you like to know everything that's wrong like i
could just i can tell you if you if you want and i'm like that would that would be lovely thank you
uh and we had this great time we did uh i thought you were working with somebody on the on your
range up it up in up in wisconsin
I did have an unbelievable experience.
An unbelievable experience.
I'm not going to air this guy out specifically.
But we're starting parallel tracks here.
But I was hitting balls at my home club, the Wisconsin Country Club University.
And we were, I was hitting balls.
And the guy came up to me.
He's like, oh, man, it was like I was 100 yards away.
I saw you walk into the ball.
And I just like, I mean, I can only be one person.
Like, I've watched you play so much golf on YouTube.
And he just like, he kept giving himself an out.
Like he kept kind of saying like, just tell me to fuck off.
Like it's okay.
Just tell me to fuck off if you don't want to hear this.
But like would you like to know what's going wrong with your golf swing?
Like all that.
And he just, he was awesome.
We had such a great time.
He hung out with me for probably 35 minutes and was just like, I'm going to give you a very unsolicited,
full breakdown detonation and lesson about your golf swing.
And I started hitting it great.
And it was, it was very fun.
But it was kind of like a bagger vance sort of care.
I mean, it just came out of nowhere, haven't seen them since.
No communication.
It was just like somebody just walked out of the trees.
It was like, I'm going to break you down, get the studs.
And then just walked away.
It was like, oh, shit, I'm on the tea.
I got to go.
He did a holiday and express last.
Yeah, wasn't a member.
He was there to, like, play a practice round for the four ball qualifier.
It was just, it was wonderful.
Anyways, had that going on.
So I got all those thoughts in my head.
Then I go to this Jason Bayle lesson, which was,
amazing. He, again, no offense to my guy in the range, but I did throw a lot of that out. And I kind of
locked in with, with J.B. And we had a great kind of back and forth. But because it's like a
video lesson and we're like shooting content, we're doing a million things, it's kind of one of
those things where it's like, if this was a real lesson, we'd just be working together for like an hour
and we'd just be hitting balls and balls and balls. And what ended up happening instead was like,
I'd hit like he'd like fix me and then I'd hit like two really great ones to be like yeah cool sweet
all right we're on to the next thing and I'm just no no no no wait wait wait wait wait I think I just figured
it out like I just I just need to hit balls for like an hour now can we please under your watchful
eye yeah and it was kind of like seeing the secret garden for just a for just a second and then
it was like on to the next thing and then the next day Randy and I went and played the wonderful
marion golf club little marion
George Thomas course up there near very little Lister Lane very little and I thought we I just don't think we hit it hit it great big like I thought we were just kind of all over the place searching very technical yeah and so that's all kind of set up right yeah that's all set up I'm like you I was Jason Bale did give me some advice later but it was the exact same thing that Parker McLaughlin
the short game chef he literally watched me hit one shot and was like oh why don't we uh we got to move
your left hip a little and we got to get more weight uh at at address under your left side and then you know
as i turn i need kind of my center of mass to get beyond the golf ball was the way he explained it and so
i hit some where it like everything kind of clicks and in i truly i'm like oh this is what you know i always
know golf you're talking about like transferring your weight and i remember gary player always talking about
like you should be able to hit a golf shot and take a step and walk after it and anybody that's seen
me hit any golf shot on any of our videos knows that like i am hanging so far behind the ball i've
never understood like how i'm supposed to walk through this golf shot but i felt that which was
both exciting i came into this day at manchester lane though probably
playing the best golf I've ever played.
Really?
Well, yeah.
I mean, six and a half handicap, just consistent, I think, is what the success has been for me.
Great driving, always in play, make a ton of pars and bogeys.
You know, on good days, I'll throw in some birdies, on bad days, a few doubles,
maybe a triple, and whatever.
Dej, I think, like, I didn't necessarily, I wasn't looking to fix anything because I'm
like I'm not there's nothing I'm not going to go out on the range and like just grind this new
motion into me and so I played uh actually I played back in Cincinnati uh the one let the one round
I've played since this lesson and I hit it worse than I've ever hit it because I got like all
these new thoughts bouncing around in my head and I'm just like what you know the fucking party
pal yeah like what what was that for I was I was I was better off just doing it poorly
and being dumber, I think.
But now I do recognize
what they are showing me and what
they, if I would put in the work,
like I could elevate my game beyond
what I would have been capable of doing
previously, but I just don't envision a
future where that happened.
Well, I think that's what I liked.
I think that's what I like so much about
the lesson was a lot of it
was, it was not hyper-technical stuff.
It was not, it was a lot of just like
the thing that Jason basically told me was like, he's like,
basically good news, bad news.
The good news is we don't have to change your swing.
Like your swing is, you know, it is what it is.
But like it's not, it's not terminal.
It's not disqualifying.
Your issue is not terminal.
Don't worry about it.
It's like with the good news is like, or the bad news is like, you know,
everything that's going wrong is basically going wrong before you're taking the club back.
Like your alignment's horrible.
Your club faces shut at a dress.
Like setting yourself up for failure.
Yeah, just like of course you're not hitting it straight.
Like I just basically your car is like,
time it up perfectly once once every down again,
but you're never going to do that consistently over a full round.
And I just have so much respect for instructors who can,
who can triage things like that.
You know, and like he,
we ended up talking to him a ton that day and he was basically going through his,
his kind of checklist of, you know, essentially are you,
are you trying to just like not hate the game or are you trying to get better or are you trying
to win your member guest or are you trying to like go win a state am like you tell me and like
like i have the knowledge to cover you down on any of those things uh but i think he was looking at me
and not just like yeah man i don't think you're trying to win the stadium like i think you just don't
want to be reloading off the tea as much as you as you as exactly as much as you are and so it was
a lot of just like uh what i loved and this is i'm stealing words from him but
but Randy and I were both joking.
We're just like, man, I think I missed, like,
this is very humiliating to say as a 30-year-old
seemingly golf professional person.
Like, yeah, I think I missed the day
where they taught you how to like aim
and like grip it properly and line up properly.
It's just like, and Jason was like, dude,
this is my whole deal.
Like there should be a driver's ed for golf.
Like there should be like a, man,
you should have to like pass a very, very basic grip
alignment posture like you should have to
I think they do that in Germany right? I know
and that's exactly what I was thinking about. I was like
man that that would like imagine how much
more people would enjoy the game
if it was just like hey can we start there
before just and he was joking
about some of the other lessons he gives and
you know like he's like a very renowned
instructor and he's like yeah I just some
people will book me for an hour
and like we just kind of work on
we just work on the grip for
like a long time and people are like wait what am I
paying all this money for he's like well did
I mean, you're hitting it better, right?
Like, well, yeah.
You know, but I thought it was going to be more complicated at the bat.
Like, yeah, I just, I don't, I could make it more complicated, but I don't, I don't think that's what you want, you know?
And it's just, I don't know.
I just, I love, I have such a love, hate with golf lessons.
Like, I'm so fascinated by how the golf swing works and like the idea of trying to get better.
But Randy, I just end up in the same spot as you, which is like, well, now all I'm thinking about is how the electricity is running through the wires here, you know?
And I'd rather just flip the switch and just have the light turn on in my house.
I'm terrified to introduce a new variable.
Like, you know, I feel like I'm streaky and I can get it going for 10 day to three
week stretches.
And then, you know, it's fleeting.
And then I kind of stop playing for a while.
And the last thing I want is like to try to get from where I am now to like half a shot lower and put in all this work.
But then, oh, guess what?
you have a two-way miss now.
Totally.
It's always like things are going to get worse before they get better.
Yes.
And I think with what we do, it's like always just hard to be like, well, I guess I'll just suck for the next like six months.
Unless you put out for a year.
Right.
We got to just like, which I have so much respect for.
But it's like, that almost gives you like cover fire.
License.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I think T.C.
I would like, if I was going to give you like the ultimate compliment, I'm like, I just don't ever look at.
you and the way you play golf and think that you're thinking swing thoughts.
I never think of swing ever and my alignment is yeah how do you how do you how do you do
do you do that I don't know like once I start thinking swing it's like I don't know what's
going to happen I don't see I think I was getting to that place where I was like I had a game that I
could kind of quiet the head and this has flared up some voices that I you know I just didn't
unlike DJ I was going into a place where I was like
I'm like, I don't know. I kind of don't want to hear anything. I wanted to put wax in my ears. Yeah. I'm like nothing, nothing. Like, take me to the short game area. You know, there are a lot of chipping and putting lessons that I would be happy to pick up on. But I, right? Radio is trying to tie himself to the mast. I don't want to. I don't need to hear this. God, I heard that siren song. Parker was like, oh, let's just bump that left hip. Oh, you feel that center master? I did. I hit like probably the best seven iron of my life. And then it's like,
Oh, God.
You were hitting seats.
He had you standing up tall and just like using that frame, creating a longer radius.
I mean, it was like it was good stuff, man.
But then, yeah, I mean, you couldn't find the club face like the next day.
Tons of misses left.
That was my thing.
When I, when I played my, my first just, yeah, left, which I got a, I'm going to, he gave us, Jason gave us his number.
I might have to get him on speed dial.
Yeah.
It's DCM Big Rann.
Got your number from Bill Haas.
Yeah.
Well, guys, maybe we close it out on this email that we got, which I think is one of my favorite emails.
It's a little bit of a related situation, maybe.
I am, this is from a guy named Zach.
This is from listener, Zach.
I'm going to read this in full because I think it demands to be read.
Quote, Dear No Laying Up, Crew.
I apologize for the long email, but I come to you in desperate need of help.
My brother is on the verge of quitting golf for the next few decades,
and I need you to help me save him.
My brother, Jeremiah, is a certified NLU Simp.
He's a longtime NIST member who's co-opted all of your takes,
repeats them back to me like their original.
Every time I call him to talk golf, he's talking about how bad the broadcast is,
quote, is this role too big for Kisner?
The tour championship should be match play, yada, yada, yada.
And after years and years, he's turned me into a regular listener as well.
He's a mid-handicap, golf, die-hard.
And the game has been a core part of our relationship for the last 15 years.
I'm 28.
He's 33.
But I'm afraid his love for golf is waning.
We recently had our first family trip to Bandan Dunes in late August.
And due to having four kids in the last five years, including one born a mere three weeks before our trip, his game was not up to far.
That is, this is me editorializing.
That's a full dose that's going on there.
Back to Zach's letter.
Maybe he should sidebar with Sally.
Yeah, exactly.
It was up to, well, this is now he's wordplay.
It was up to par.
It was par plus 20 or 30 shots every round.
Poor guy was in the trenches all week.
After fantasizing about the trip for 18 months,
going out there and putting up big numbers was a real bummer.
And due to the cost of logistics,
the time away from family,
he began to question whether he should be playing golf at all.
He started talking of selling his clubs,
new title is T-100s.
Shout out to the sponsor.
And taking a 10 to 20-year break from the game
until his kids are grown up.
He was one pint away from being convinced to sell everything
and start from scratch as a lefty,
a joke yet one that he really considered.
Zach continues to go out, you know,
to go on and on and on in this email.
And basically it's just asking you,
Big Randy, T.C.,
just where are we at?
you know a little bit of a shout out but also any advice uh that you have for our guy that just
kind of seems like he maybe lost a little bit of his golfing soul out there at band and dunes uh randy
i'll throw it to you first your your advice for our guy jeremiah well first i i empathize
with you jeremiah i on a couple levels let me just say at the top of the show i mentioned i
truly feel like everything that I enjoy in my life right now sucks. And it sucks ass.
Like I, some of this is having a young baby at home and I don't feel like I have as many
hobbies as I did before. So I'm like putting a lot of stock into like TC said, you know, fantasy
football is something I can enjoy and look forward to. Miami football, Bengals football,
Cincinnati Reds baseball. Yeah. And it all sucks and they all let me down. So I, I,
I empathize.
I also will say I in my life, and this happened a lot before no laying up,
some with no laying up,
I have taken trips to destination golf courses and gotten myself so nervous and in my
own head about wanting to play well that I've played disastrously.
You know, I've shanked it around Pinehurst number two the first time I played there.
So I feel your pain, Jeremiah.
I don't give it.
up. Yeah, I'm not going to tell you not to quit. I think if you need to quit, you should quit.
I honestly, I might go that way. I would say quit and see how long, see how it, see how it,
you know, see how it feels. See how long you go. If you can make it 10, 20 years without playing
golf, I think it wasn't meant to be. I think that's fine. You probably made a good decision,
save some money. But if you quit and you get to next spring and you, and you, and you,
you get the itch, then that's okay to come back too. You know, you can come back. But I,
listen, I, I think you should quit. T.C. T.C. Uh, well, Zach also included a,
a video of, uh, of Jeremiah thin hooking one into the ocean at pack dunes.
Was it, how's this move? I haven't seen the swing. Is there anything to work with?
It's not great. Yeah, there's stuff to work with. You can tell you.
he's a good athlete uh and then he also included one of zach himself striping one at sheep ranch
which uh just felt like a little very cool a little mean spirited but you know i would say get weird
with it go play lefty one day like figure out what it is you like about golf you like the walk do you
like the talk with people do you like banging balls on the range do you like architecture do you like
competition like figure it out you know so um sounds like you you got plenty of kids that you you're you're like you got
plenty of kids that you're going to be able to play with over the next five 10 years maybe start
there and play operation 36 with them or something like that you know it sounds like you might need
to play some operation 36 and build yourself back up that's well said you go lefty yeah
mentioned in there like that was that that was fun that like made me like want to go play golf
righty it was like oh my god this is so hard and like i i i'm like i don't give myself enough credit for
how much of the-
realize how good I had it.
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah.
Well said.
Well said.
I think I would maybe round it out with just like, I don't know, you know, what did he say?
He's kind of a mid-handicapper.
I think, Randy, where I-
I wish I knew what that meant.
I think I would say I've fallen to the same trap as you many, many, many times,
just showing up to some place.
And it's like, oh, my gosh, if I shoot 78, then I'll be truly happy.
And sometimes one out of 20 times, like I have shots.
And I don't feel that great.
You know, I just, I don't.
Yeah, I think I would just maybe triple, quadruple down on the idea that, like,
Jeremiah, there's so many better golfers than you that if you're, if you're, if you're,
if you're tying it to the results, man, I just, I don't think it's a good, a good spot to be.
And I think TC, you got a lot of wisdom in your, uh, figure out what you like about the game.
Uh, and just kind of, just kind of chase that.
I played a thing today at Aaron Hills, like I mentioned at the top.
And we played like a black and gold event, just me and a couple friends.
And it was like you play the like absolute tip one step off the back on the odd holes.
And you play all the way up on the absolute forward teas on the even holes.
And I mean, it was just like, it was hilarious.
You just, you lose all expectations.
You're playing these like into the wind, 550 par fours that you're just.
just like, dude, I think if I could make a six, I got a really good chance of winning a
skin of this hole. And it's just you're, you know, you're hanging out for dear life and
everybody's kind of giggling. And then you go drive the green on the next hole. And it's,
you have these little flashes of brilliance. And I think look for those, look for those kernels,
you know, look for those little moments. But I think if you're, maybe I'm speaking to myself here
more than anything. But if you're, if you're looking for, uh, oh boy, if that handicapped number
just started with a three. But see, that's what I like about golf. So I feel like,
if Jeremiah is wired that way,
I get very satisfied
if I go out and shoot a 78 on a course
that I want to play well on.
That makes me feel good.
What's the flip side of that, though?
I do understand that.
But yeah, it sucks.
And he wants to jump in the Pacific Ocean
when he's poorly.
I would say also, Jeremiah,
like it sounds like he needs a go-to shot,
like something that you can just
bat around,
and bandate it
if all goes to hell.
That's like it's not how good your good shots are.
It's how good your bad shots are.
Manage the misses.
Honestly, you know, Zach, maybe get, maybe get your brother and Arcos Ayr.
Let him figure out exactly where the specific problem areas are in his golf game.
That certainly could help.
I don't know if my guy Jeremiah is just gripping and ripping and, you know, redlining it every shot.
Maybe we dial down the swing speed, just try to find fairways.
You know, I was going to say play some forward teas.
You don't even have to make it like.
go forward them back just you know go play the golf course at 5500 yards and and see if you can
you know see what you shoot see if you can get better that way yeah many birdies you can always move
back exactly if you're getting bored by how many birdies you're making then then it's time to bump
back but it's another reason another reason to quit if if you do go through all that and nothing is
like this sucks then yeah man quit life's too short find something else to do i think i maybe
Clos it out.
Play foot golf.
Yeah.
There's a disc.
Like some discs or something.
I think maybe closing it out.
I think there's a, I don't know, man.
Golf brings you a lot of good stuff in your life.
Sounds like you got a great relationship with your brother.
Like you said, T.C.
A lot of kids, maybe we'll play.
I think there's a little bit of nobility in just sucking at golf.
And just being like, man, I think if you just played really shitty golf,
I do think you're going to have a better life than just, like, being really good at, like, what?
going and playing chess in the park or something like i don't know offense to that yeah maybe you do both
but i'm just like you know what i mean i just i i don't know i've tried a lot of hobbies and uh as
much as i hate this one tends to i don't know i don't really know what i do without it so i i think
i i think you stick with it but uh keep us Zach keep us posted please keep us posted i'm i'm
interested in i'm interested in how it goes but man guys uh what do you think we call it there
Yeah, we call it here. We got plenty, we got plenty more in the chamber for another, you know, for next week, for Sunday.
We got all sorts of a shop session.
Yeah, all sorts of fun, fun stuff.
The one thing we didn't mention the LPGA, they're still going on.
Gino's making a mess, Randy.
Is Gino? I see Gino in, oh, no, Gino's got a two shot loose now.
She's doubled 16.
I think Ena Eune maybe rinsed one on 17, who was tied to the week.
Yeah. So it looks like we'll say Gino Titicum won the Lottie, the Hawaii LPJ event.
We got, yeah, Gabby Herzig had a good piece on Yale, which I know Neil played there recently,
some architecture stuff to talk about, a lot of LPGA stuff to talk about, like Gulf Saudi,
LET announcements and Women's Scottish Open isn't on the preliminary schedule that they showed for next year.
LPGA personnel moves.
I got hashtag Chad
even and you know
bringing in new leadership for Solheim Cup
which I can't believe they didn't bring in new leadership
for the Solheim Cup after RTJ.
Like that that's insane.
Like that took them another couple of years.
And then yeah.
And then but plenty of good stuff this week too.
We got Torosos premiering this week.
Touris sauce comes out this week, October 7th.
First episode.
Yeah, airs.
It's from the island of Aaron.
Incredibly meaningful place for all of us and really, really cool golf courses that we can't wait to show off.
So there's going to be four episodes in this season, but they are four like mega, mega episodes.
I mean, it's, I would say there's as much or more in this season as there is in all the other seasons.
We've just kind of broken them up a little bit, a little bit differently.
And in a way that I think makes makes really good sense and kind of a lot.
allows you to sit on the couch and sink in and hopefully really enjoy some cool visuals and music and
fun banter and competition and should be great. So I'm very excited for that. Shout out to our friends
at Roeback for making that possible. Sali is absolutely buzzing about this Tuesday's episode,
which is a long-form interview with Dean Beeman, former commissioner of the PJ Tour. Sounds like a
really, really great interview. He's very, very pumped about that. T.C., what's going on on the
on the trap draw.
Oh,
we got the,
the ball numbers are convening this week,
uh,
which,
you know,
Randy,
I don't know if you'll be in a good mood or a bad,
a bad mood after.
shitty mood.
Yeah.
Uh,
Jalen hurt.
There's plenty to talk about what Jalen hurts.
That'll put me in a better mood.
Looked completely impotent against the Rams in the two minute drill today.
Uh,
and then yeah,
we're still recovering from the fecal angelo,
uh,
thing,
which I thought you guys.
That was a,
was a,
was it a hoax.
Oh,
yeah,
it was a total hoax,
meme thing.
I guess like,
jackass did it 20 years ago. I'm like, well, I didn't see it 20 years ago. I thought it was really
funny. Well, I thought you guys covered it's real to me. Damn it. Yeah. No, as as fake as it was,
I thought you guys covered the fecal angela very tastefully. And then the last thing I would shout out
is Neil's, Neil's got some new custom design shoes in the shop. He's calling them the airmail ones.
And that's one word for legal purposes. Airmail is one word. That's right. Well said. Some nice
custom my joys from our friend at footjoice check those out uh store it's an homage to it's an homage to
neil's shoes that he he loved brown like white and brown saddle shoes from junior golf and so it's
homage to those i think one of the one of the burn reverse guys hopped in the the replies and was
trying to shit on neil's sense of style and he's like oh look like like this this this this like
third tier burner guy is coming at me like neil kind of a minor a minor league burner which
which is a pretty fucking, it's a pretty withering takedown.
That's pretty good stuff.
Shout out.
Good stuff from Neil there.
Shout out Devereaux Bird Dog Emmett.
Yeah.
Devereaux Emmett.
Probably not in the Hall of Fame either.
We can talk about that next time.
Guys, good to be with you.
Good to be with you.
Congratulations to all this week's winners.
And we will talk to everybody, I guess, Tuesday, with our Dean Beeman episode.
And we'll be back next Sunday as well.
So, cheers and crack on, gentlemen.
Randy, don't give up, man.
Yeah, don't quit, Randy.
Don't ever give up.
