Be the right club. Be the right club today.
Johnny, that's better than most.
How about him? That is better than most.
Better than most.
Expect anything different.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the no laying up live show presented by our friends
at high noon.
I'm joined here today.
A little Olympics recap with my man TC back on US soil.
Tron, how we feeling tonight?
Morning, Damon.
I'm great.
I'm great.
Uh, just, you know, just in a silvery mood.
I'm, I'm, uh, I'm pumped.
I'm pumped. I'm happy for my guy.
Bittersweet day. We'll get into all of it.
We'll get to it. Big Randy calling in from Denver. Mr. Big, how are you today?
Patriotic Neil. Great day to be an American fired up about the Olympics.
I love it. I know we got some LPGA golf, uh, coming down the stretch.
So Cody's behind the scenes working the ones in twos. He'll let us know if
there's a, anything we working the ones in twos. He'll let us know if there's a
anything we should be monitoring on that front.
It was just an ace.
Just an ace. We're getting word there was just an ace on the
16th to take the lead. So a lot going on in the golf world this
week felt like it was going to be a sleepy, a sleepy one, but
the Olympics, we're going to break down the Olympics recap,
or recap the Olympics, excuse me, Scotty Scheffler wins
gold goes 19 under,
fires a final round, 62 to win by one.
Tommy Fleetwood wins the silver, Hideki Matsuyama
wins the bronze, but first,
the moment everyone has been waiting for,
it's finally here, the high noon pool pack is back.
So grab a case, text a group,
and get your friends to the nearest pool or the beach.
It's only here for this summer,
so now's the time to enjoy lime, peach,
and two limited edition flavors, guava and kiwi.
I'm actually rocking kiwi tonight.
Maroney, what are you sipping on?
Well, I can't believe it's not in the pool pack,
but I have a watermelon left, so I'm drinking watermelon.
It just feels like it should be in the pool pack,
even though it's not.
It's a fantastic flavor.
TC, how about you?
I got a gold top tonight. I got the vodka iced tea, the raspberry.
Mix it up. As always, the high noon pool pack is made with real vodka and real juice,
has 100 calories, is gluten-free, and has no added sugar. Visit highnoonspirits.com
to find it near you. All right. Let's get into it here,
gentlemen. We have Scotty winning gold. We have Tommy Fleetwood winning the silver medal.
We have Hideki Matsuyama winning bronze, kind of making up for Tokyo where he
missed out on, I think it was an eight man playoff for bronze. So, uh, some,
some stew sync stuff going on there with Hideki. Um, and then we had what?
Victor Perez, uh, in fourth at minus 16, Roy McElroy and John Rom at minus 15.
Tc I tuned in.
I actually picked it up when Rahm was on eight and he had a crazy up and down for par.
He's up by four strokes.
It looks like, I mean, he's going to run away with it.
What happened on the back nine?
Take me there, T.C.
Yeah, Rahm was, he was tied going into the final round for the lead with Xander.
Xander kind of no-show today, shot 73.
But yeah, Rahm was, he was up to a four-shot lead after 10 holes. He had it to 20 under, just kind of on cruise control. And then Bogey's 11, Bogey's 12, Par's 13, and then
just really made a mess on 14, the Par 5. Both he and Tommy. Tommy kind of got a bad break. We'll get to that
there. And Ram, you know, poor chip. And then misses maybe a six-footer to kind of, you know,
staunch the blood a little bit there and ends up making double there. And then
par is 15, gets back with a birdie on on 16 but that was kind of too little too late at
that point bogey 17 and 18 this is a playoff for bronze by two shots ends up four back of Scheffler
brandil took the blow torch to him uh in the post game so it was said it was one of the the all-time
choke jobs he's ever seen maybe the worst choke of the year.
Just kind of uncharacteristic stuff from- I mean, I didn't think Grant's comments were that harsh.
I think he was just telling it like it is. He was kind of-
A little drive-by on Roy P.
Yeah, it seemed like he was kind of taking explicit pride in it though, right? It was joyful, I guess.
it pride in it though, right? It was joyful, I guess. Topsy Turvy. I've had a bunch of people
saying, well, how is this any different from Valhalla? The scores are low, everybody's making birdies. I'm like, yeah, but there's bogeys out there too. There's downside risk, there's water
fucking everywhere on that course. Had to hit the fairway.
A lot of tucked pins.
Difficult pin on 18 there.
So I was really impressed.
I loved watching Victor Perez shot 29 on the back nine
to kind of get in the mix.
Played a five hole stretch from 12 through 16
in six under par. made an eagle in 14.
Crowd was going nuts. So that was great. Big Dick Vic there. Missed the bronze by a shot.
And then we had Tommy shot 66. Three bogeys today. Bogeyed the first hole, had a couple bogeys on the
front nine, but made plenty of birdies. And man I thought you know, he was right there and then Scottie just doing Greek ish stuff
You know Tommy I think the
the the par on
He made par on on the par five got kind of unlucky with
Ball didn't come back into the bunker.
He was in a, like he was stuck up on the lip
and I had to chip one up and it was tough to,
tough to get one close there.
Makes a good par putt there.
Birdie's the 16th.
I was like, all right, we're cooking baby.
We are, you know, ran a 15 footer in for Birdie on 16,
the par three, tie the lead.
And then he makes bogey on 17 and needed to hit the fairway.
From Fleetwood.
It was, it was gold medal on the line.
I'm curious how you're going to spin this one into a positive TC that if he
had won this, then people would have said it wasn't a true event because it's
a limited field.
I'm almost kind of glad that he didn't get the gold because people were going to,
you know, there was going to be a massive debate and discussion, a discourse, if you will, about him.
He still can't win a regular PGA Tour event.
He's never won on US soil.
Does this even count?
It's a limited field.
People are going to diminish the hell out of this if Tommy won versus now people are
pumping it up now that Scotty won his fifth limited field event in a row that he's won.
Randy, what, uh, what stuck out to you today?
Well, I honestly, I think Tommy, you know, that moment he pours in a birdie on
16 ties the lead Scotty.
I forget the exact timing, but Scotty had a lie in the rough on 18 and was
kind of debating whether to go or not. you get the exact timing but
Scotty had a lie in the rough
on eighteen and was kind of
debating whether to go or not
and the gold medal was truly
in the balance at that point
and it just more than anything
I hate for Tommy like the the
swing on seventeen T like it
just didn't look good and then
he had a tough little chip that he caught heavy. Like it just was if you're looking for a guy to put his foot down and finish a tournament, like Tommy just
didn't do it. And that was, you know, it just adds to the
debate, like, does this guy have it or not?
It's tough because like, hey, I was like, man, he made the putt
on 16. He hit the shot,
all that.
And then tough spot on 17.
And then you would almost rather have him get into the deep rough there.
And really poor chip.
I think it's like, man, like maybe bump like a six iron or something.
It just didn't, like, it seemed like he was kind of rushing
to a little bit of like, you know, maybe some long grass
collar issues, but yeah, it never quite seemed comfortable.
And so he kind of withered without a fight,
like for a tournament that looked like it was going to have
extreme drama, maybe a playoff for the gold medal.
Like it didn't happen.
And it's not new with the contrast.
Cause then he got, meanwhile, Scotty birdies, 14, 15, 16, 17, and then
it hits an epic shot into 18.
And the shot that like the shot that Scotty hit into 17 was insane.
And then he had 29 on the back nine starts for back and just goes and gets it. You know,
took my water analogy, just pours cold water on your boy TC and says, no, I'm going to
take that right here.
Even Tommy, like he gets a kind of a bad bounce on 18. Ball kind of kicks right into the,
into the first cut there. And I'm thinking, all right, you know, we can do something with
this. Tommy said in his post-run interview, he's like, I didn't really feel comfortable with my swing all week. I wasn't, like, it wasn't his A game. I thought he hit a really good pot on 17. And then yeah, just not what you're looking for, kind of brings one in, hooks one right to left. On 18, hit a really good chip. Like, I think if you're looking for something there, like, that silver could have easily slipped away from him. Or, or, you know or brings it into a playoff for it, but hits a really good chip, makes a really good
putt.
I think props to Scotty for that putt on 18 too.
That was not a gimme and he poured it right in the heart.
I know Teddy was reading his putts for him this week, which I don't know why he ever gets away
from Teddy reading his putts. It seems like what Teddy reads is putts.
Well, no, I disagree. I think last year they were having issues because it was like,
people read putts differently. I think you kind of have to own that. I think it could be too
confusing if two people are reading a putt. You get kind of stuck in the
middle, you blend the two reads. And so it seemed to work better once he just decided to do it
himself. Yeah. I would have loved to have seen a playoff. I mean, Scottie was out there. He
gets it done on 18 and then he goes to the range. He's just hanging out there and, you know, nice embrace from from Scotty and
Teddy there on the range. You know, it was funny last time,
last time Teddy was kind of doing stuff in, in France was,
you know, bubba bitching about, you know, the Eiffel Tower and
that arch thing and, and, and all that stuff. So kind of a full
circle deal for Teddy there. But yeah, I don't know. It felt big, right? I don't think it's
a great golf course, but I think it's a really cool tournament venue.
It's got some TPC sawgrass in it. You can go out and get it or you can go down in a blaze there. And you got to hit fairways. It's not a driving contest. There's some spots where you can hit
driver or it's going
to put some pressure on, on your mid iron game, which, which I really appreciate as
well. So
yeah, strong recall to Scotty's Sunday 63 at Sawgrass earlier this year. Um, I'd say
that and Rom obviously Rom his back nine 39. I mean, those were the things, but in the end, it was just like, man, Scotty, like Scotty was the big boy.
He did everything he needed to do.
He got the gold medal and nobody could touch him.
I, it was, it was very, very, very impressive.
Yeah. I know I've been critical a little bit of it's,
I don't know if critical is the right word,
but it's frustrating.
And it's just, it's another four day stroke play event. It feels like, ah, man, can we come up
with something else? Can we come up with some match play? Can we, you know, get people battling
down the stretch, you know, or, or some type of creative format for this. But then you see the
emotion from Scotty. Um, I don't know. You see like Fleetwood, like these guys, they were fired
up to be there and, and it felt like you said, it said, it felt elevated. It felt big. I think it helped having crowds again.
I mean, that's just general for the Olympics. I mean, the Olympics, I've really enjoyed the last
week, week and a half just with the energy back into it. So, I think the golf kind of lived up
to the billing today, which was great. Yeah. I'll say, I've kind of shit on it in the past. I think we're four, we can talk about this later in the show. I think
we're, you know, this is the fourth iteration of it. It seems like it's on a pretty good trajectory,
but it does seem like the third was there wasn't one in London. I think it was Rio. It was Rio
because that was one Rio gotcha. And then Xander one. Um, and now Scotty. So I think, you know, going back, I think the,
yeah, like the crowds were awesome. Setup was good. You know, it just seemed like all week,
there was a good energy about it. So, you know, I think Tommy was a little bit hurt by
the energy in his group probably today too. I think Rom just evaporating
a little bit down the stretch and then Xander, that's the worst I've seen Xander play in a couple
of years. He's 73 today, two over and just didn't have it from the start. He was tied for the lead
starting the day. So tough there. And then Rory,
like Rory was rolling right along too. I mean, he had five birdies in a row from 10 through 14 and,
and just made a complete mess on 15 and honestly could have been worse. Like where he had to drop
on 15 was like nightmare fuel. Uh, you know,, short you're in the water, longer in the water, you're close enough to where
you can't really get any spin on it, firm greens.
So yeah, he kind of lost lost all of his momentum there.
He ends up finishing T5, still shot 66, but just had that, you know, pars the last three and
had that double on 15.
So yeah, and then otherwise, like Hideki just kind of treaded water, right?
He finished the back nine.
I think he had six pars in a row to finish it out, birdied 10 and 12, but clean card
today, but didn't necessarily go and get it, but just did what
he had to do to kind of nab the bronze there.
So, I do think the podium stuff is sweet.
Yeah, it's great.
And then, well, then some other emotion, Tom Kim finishes eighth, some tears after the
round.
It's just when you start to mix these pro athletes in with the nationalism
and honestly, military service now pending. So if he wins a medal, not a goal, any medal
is it's not just the Olympics, right? I think it's like the Asian Games. Is it is it if
you win a major, you get out of that too, or is it just medals? I'm not sure
I have to but maybe Cody can figure that out for us on the backside
I think it's their metal at the Olympic any medal at the Olympic and it has to be gold at the Asian Games. Okay
Gotcha. I I'm kind of pro Tom Kim
Military service. I think it would you know, just his his pace of play it would, you know, just his, his pace of play, it would, it would force him to, to consider some things, I think. But he, like, you know, I not in the medal stamp, but had to be very emotional.
Might be the biggest star to do military service since Prince Harry.
If I had to guess.
If he doesn't catch a gold at the Asian Games here.
So, I mean, we have another Olympics to go through.
He has so much time in order to get out of this, this, this
hardship tour that he just happens to be forced to sign up
it and has only 23 to write like he's got yeah, we got a long
way. We have another we have a multiple Asian games more
Olympics, you name it.
This is some Jay is some Jane the same boat too.
I thought him and I thought Sungjae and somebody else won.
Siwoo won the Asian games.
They won gold last year.
Gotcha.
Gotcha.
Cause that's the other messed up thing.
It's like a team competition for him.
They won the team gold.
Choose your partner wisely.
Yeah, for real.
I mean, I'll say this.
We don't have to have a whole like
conscription talk here or whatever,
but you guys know like the Asian like pop groups,
like they're legitimate superstars.
They all did their mandatory service time.
You know?
Yeah, but they don't have like a prime.
Right, like, you know what I mean?
Like your golf prime or your athletic prime
is different from like your musical prime.
Right.
That's an interesting discussion.
That's a fair argument, TC.
I get what you're saying, but you gotta, I mean, I don't think there's
very much black and white about their prime.
No, where should they, you know, if he's that worried about it, I mean, he
could give up his citizenship and join the United States military army.
He could get the reserves. T.C.
had a note in here, Sammy Valamaki, no stranger to
military service. He was asked, so you played while you were
serving? Yeah. What was your job in the military? Quote,
shooting heads. So, you know, you learn, learn a few things.
Sammy Valamaki's military service was six months long in
which he shot paper targets in the head
Okay, so it's a very good quote, but let's let's not get it twisted here the same thing
you know the Korean military he's probably gonna end up in the Air Force because he's somebody of stature and
they work off of a
Class system so he's gonna be a junior officer and he this is it
It sucks that he's gonna give up golf for a little bit
But it's by far not the worst
thing ever that could happen to him and i understand his quote about like being in america for so long
and and kind of getting away from you know forgetting about it until it comes up in moments
like this but i also think that he forgets the fact that you know our grandfathers and great
grandfathers served for our freedoms so we don't have to
be in the military.
We're lucky that we have a volunteer force.
It's just one of those things that it's a shitty situation for him, but I'm sure he's
good enough that he has plenty more opportunities to get out of it.
Yeah.
It's definitely going to become a thing though as we move forward.
He's 23, but yeah, plenty of time. I think otherwise,
just kind of bummed to see Victor Perez not on the medal stand. I'm just, I'm weighing on the podium.
Nothing matters except for a top three finish. And it seems like maybe the win. Well, it's Tommy's your guy. I mean, it's such a weird feeling of like, you know, looking at Tommy's quotes
afterwards, you know, Hey, like I never imagined I would, I would win an Olympic
medal and he's bummed that he didn't win, but it's, it's nice solace.
And then like fourth legitimately gets you absolutely nothing.
Like there's no purse.
There's no team competition, which is interesting for the guys way down the leaderboard. It's like, what are we,
you know, they got to stick around and, and, and, and play it out. Um, well, we'll go down
to leaderboard in just a second, but, uh, but first we want to give shout out to our friends
at Titleist. Uh, today's episode brought to you by Titles and the all new GT driver line TC.
episode brought to you by Titles and the all new GT driver line. TC, we were out at TPI last week, got a whole rundown on the GT, fired up for it. What do you got for us?
TC Botto Yeah, stoked about the GT. I got fit maybe a month ago, took it to Scotland with me
and been hitting it off the deck a lot. I'm in the GT2. I went from a TSR3 to a GT2.
lot. I'm in the GT2. I went from a TSR3 to a GT2. The kind of ball speed and like integrity, the spin rates all over the club face are crazy. Like it's a lot more forgiving. I've loved it. And I think
it's noteworthy that Titleist only comes out with new drivers every two years. Like their product
cycle is a lot longer. And It seems like they don't come out
with something unless it's demonstrably better. So I can confidently say that this one is,
it sounds a little bit different because it's got that multi-material, it's got that different
material on the head or on the crown. So it sounds a little bit more hot melty, more like something
you'd hear out
on the Pro Tour the last few years with some hot melt in it.
It's just kind of that polymer on top there.
The aerodynamics are wildly improved as well.
So just club head speed right there off the start.
Randy, it sounds like you're absolutely flashing as well. Uh, based on, based on everything we heard out of Colorado this week.
Well, yeah, I'm in a little different situation. I, my new GT driver showed up like three hours
after I left for a little golf trip last week. So I'm going to be sad to give up the TSR
one, but very excited. I'm also going gonna be in the GT2, the 11 degree.
Okay, moving on up. Well, you're it. Yeah, it's, I'm stoked. It's got me like really excited to play
golf. The Fairway woods are awesome as well. It's kind of more of that thwack sound instead of the
that kind of high pitched tank sound, which I really prefer that that kind of solid sound. So,
but yeah, they saved a bunch of weight on the top crown
and they could kind of reapply that
as it relates to the rest of the thing.
Pooch is chiming in here.
Mr. Pooch, you're going down.
Talking a little trash in the comments, we love it.
Bottom line, go get fit.
It's available for pre-order right now.
Go to tidalus.com to schedule a fitting near you. Just go get fit or just go hit it.
Compare the numbers. Let the club do the talking, I think.
But it's very much, it's really opened my eyes. Like, whoa, this is truly a step forward.
Hell yes. All right, TC. You know, Solly's out. You have the substitute teacher in. Why don't you take us down to the leaderboard? Why not? I'll give you, I'll give you three
minutes. I love it. I love it. I need to shout out Nikolai Hoygard. I finished solo seventh
shots, you know, really slow start. He was two under through 36, 70, 70, and then he shoots 62 in round three, 68 in round four, solo seventh, one shot ahead
of Tom Kim.
Little Corey Connors, Jason Day, Joaquin Nieman, Thomas Detry and Xander all finished in a
tie for T9.
I thought we were going to see a little bit more out of Waco this week.
I think I kind of had him tab for for you know
Just a standout week
He got off to a good start. I saw him up there on the year board on day one
He just he kind of fizzled a little bit in the second and third round
Yeah, DTree continues his great great season kind of worldwide there
Windham Clark, I want to give a shout out to Windham. He's been really hard on the blowpig.
I don't think he should have been there in the first place. I don't think he's the proper
number five player in the world right now. I think Bryson should have been there, but the
qualification is what it is. Then Windham went out and shot 75 in the first round, and then he shot 68, 65, 65 to
show some pride and get back into it. So more power to Wyndham there. Torbjorn Olesen,
I think the Danes would have been up there for as far as the team competition. Torbjorn finished
T14 at minus 11. The Danes would have been minus 25 all in. They got to figure out a way to do, whether it's like a two man team competition or an
aggregate between men's and women's or something like that.
Drop your count to, drop the third score, count four between the women and men, something
like that.
Yeah.
Basically a way to make the scores count.
Yeah. Because you can't make the scores count. Yeah.
Because you can't have them play two weeks of golf.
But yeah.
Or like have the guys wait around to do something after the women.
Like there's got to be something that they can figure out.
Right.
So I wish.
I wish they could get more creative with the format.
I mean, we just got done talking about how it felt elevated.
And I think
as golf continues to be in the Olympics, it'll start to feel like an elevated BDE, as TC would say. But it's like, man, I do want to see them playing together for their country. Or, I don't
know, maybe even going head to head, the match play feels like, I wish there was a match play
component. But then again, it feels like doing something with the men and the women
together with a match play component, but also like having, I think the stroke play
worked like I've shit a lot on this format, but I think the stroke play worked as far
as excitement down the stretch.
Like we wouldn't have gotten that from a match play competition, unless you had a bunch of
different matches out
there between countries. So I will say it goes for 2028. So
the proposal is in there to do a three day mixed team event in
between men's and women's events. Okay.
That'd be great. I'm curious to see how they set it up for the
women. We'll talk we'll talk women kind of preview here
towards the end of the show.
Otherwise, Matteo Manicero, he had a nice week. Shot 69, 69, 69, 69.
Very nice.
A very nice week. Disappointed in Ludwig. Minus 8, T18. Just didn't really have it. 68, 70, 66,
72. Really faded today. But Randy, you want to come get your boy Colin?
Yeah, that was tough, Randy. And of course, that should have been G24. Perfect for him.
Listen, fourth is the same as T24. We've already established that. Not much to say there, Neil. Thank you, though. Sure. Sure. Sure.
Shane Lowry seemed like he had a great week at the Olympics, just soaking it all up, kind of flag
bearer for the Irish. Didn't play great. It's 371s in a 66. What else we got? Victor didn't play great. T30, Victor Hovland, not Perez.
And then otherwise, just kind of going way down the board here.
My guy, Norin, T45, he was over par for the week.
Hated that.
And we had a WD from Matt Fitzpatrick, 81 in the third round.
WD.
So hopefully- I love seeing my guy, Keir Deck, get out the third round and WD. So hopefully-
I love seeing my guy Keir Deck get out there.
Didn't go great, but nice to know that the barn rat
is still bouncing around.
Nice that he's back.
Hovon, last place too on home soil.
Hated that.
Hated that.
All right, well, I mean, where does, what do you think?
I feel like we had a little bit of a rom discussion,
but where does this, I mean, it's just been a bummer year for him.
And this, this was kind of the cherry on top.
It was almost like, Oh, he won the Olympics and, and man, Rom's back.
And then it was like, Oh wait, kind of reinforces like his, his Ram in the wilderness.
Randy, let's go to you first.
What do you think?
I mean, no way to sugar coat it.
It certainly was a gag or a choke or a meltdown, like whatever you want to say about it, to
be 20 under and what'd you say Tron four clear at one point?
He was seven up on Scheffler at one point.
Yeah, I mean, the double on 14, like that hole was playing like to a four and a half stroke average.
It just very unbecoming.
And so you're right, Neil.
It's just not been a great run of play for him.
Um, I, listen, I, we can have the debate to me.
It feels a little lazy.
Like, I don't think this is a live,
oh, he can't play four rounds thing. But he just doesn't seem sharp. And whatever you want to credit
it to, I'm, I don't know, I feel like I'd be guessing if I blamed it on his calendar or the
events he's playing in. But at the end of the day, the results are the results.
And this was a big disappointment for him.
You could see it in his face in his post-round interview.
Like this meant a lot.
And for him to not get it done, I think really stung.
And so maybe more so than some of the poor play
in the previous majors.
Yeah, I don't have a great answer though
for you beyond that.
It just feels like, I guess I just go back to thinking
if Ram were presented the opportunity to go back in time
to that day where he either takes the live deal or not,
I just wonder if he would changes his mind,
if all of it has been worth it to him or not.
Only he can answer it.
He's got all the money in the world now. So, you know, it's, it's tough to say he's come out poorly in that decision, but,
um, golf wise, it's, I feel like it puts a bigger spotlight on him next year.
We're going to really want and hope to see some better
performances at the big events.
Yeah. I think it, you know, he's coming off T7 at the open. He won the, he won his first live event
at the JCB coming in. Like he's kind of shown some signs of life here lately. I know Sunday is
disappointing, but I think we got to give him, like, if we get through next masters and say PGA at Quill Hollow and he's laying up
stinkers there like another T45 or Mistcut there I think that changes the conversation a lot.
He's got he's about to have his third kid like under the age of you know of what four like he's
got a lot going on at home.
I think we probably underestimate the impact of that on these guys, honestly. Like, even, yeah,
oh, he could have all the help in the world. It's still, yeah. I mean, I'm under water.
But it's also like, it would be, I think it would be a slight to him if we weren't having this
conversation, right? Because it's kind of like he's earned that place
in the conversation or that place,
that like level of expectations, you know?
Then hey man, what do you expect?
If he weren't good, we'd just ignore him.
Like who cares?
Well, and especially with two guys with Xander
and Scotty like elevating, you know,
they're kind of, it's almost like they're separating.
You're like, okay, is Ram gonna, you know,
is he gonna leave the Peloton and go join them?
And even like Bryson, you know,
I think if you were to pull golf fans,
like Bryson's right there as well.
It just Rom is kind of in that next category.
And quite frankly, a little like forgotten about now,
which trying back to your point,
like it just shouldn't be that way.
And it's more just a shame for the game of golf.
I feel like, yeah.
Yeah.
You guys, uh, did this change anything for your player of the year?
Oh, I mean, Randy, I know you always wait with bated breath for, for the
FedEx playoffs and East Lake could change everything for you.
I know exactly.
Let's, let's wait till let's wait till we get through the playoffs.
It's an interesting discussion right? It's how much do you weigh majors versus other events?
In my mind at Scotty I think this probably cemented that for me like I still
Even had he not won today. I think we get to the end of the year. And I, I still think Scotty's like the best golfer and whether that
translates to player of the year, I don't know, but it just seems like this was a nice feather in the cap and the players, you know, he's got some.
They're not just regular events, I guess.
The BDS.
Yeah.
BDS.
Yeah.
But there still is that factor of you look back in 10 years, it's like
two, winning two majors in the same year is like, that's, that's big boy stuff. It does feel a
little bit, it's unfair to say this, but it feels a little bit like disappointing. It's like, oh,
he only won one major though. I mean, I do, but I'm with you, Randy, this gold medal actually,
like that'd be another thing on the resume. Like, oh yeah, he won the gold medal that year too. Like
that's, that's, uh,, that now looking now that that's happened
That means more than I thought it would I guess and I think I think it's a little like eye
Testy to like the manner in which he won today again
Yeah shooting a 62 and it was a very good leaderboard
If it wasn't quite as good a leaderboard and I mean, I'm trying to think of like a
scenario where he wins and I'm just like, eh, who cares? Um, but it, it just seemed
like today was like, no, man, like Scheffler is the best player. And to me that should
be the player of the year.
And same with the way he won the masters, same with the way he's won most events. It's
just like, Oh man, that's just what a, like, what a killer, you know, just like that's where Xander's win, like
at the open was impressive.
Mega impressive. Very impressive. Don't want to lose
sight of that. It's like, I don't know, he kind of held on
like the he had that put lip in for him at Valhalla. It's like,
I feel like the the players plus the Olympics equals Valhalla. Right. Sure. I mean,
especially, no, but sure. But these are like, like to me, the two wins for Scotty are really
impressive. Those two wins for Scott are really impressive because those are on courses that
don't necessarily favor him. They're, you know, they're, They're more accuracy tests. They're all around game.
It's iron play. I mean, granted, I know anything favors Scottie because he's the best iron player,
but it's not like he's hitting it miles by everybody on those courses. It's more of a
precision test. He's winning on radically different golf courses. Augusta and Golf National are very different tests of golf. So I think that's extra
impressive from him. That said, it's interesting. This is Scotty's first win. I don't count the
hero because that's not a real event. This is his first win not on US soil, which I think is
really interesting. And I know, hey, the money's not
huge anymore outside of the US or guys don't travel as much and all that. But I think,
hey, if you're world number one and you want to be a generationally great player, I think you owe
it to the game to play worldwide. Tiger certainly did. And variety of guys did. So be curious to see kind of how that
how that moves forward with with Scotty in the next few years.
That said, too, like, I don't disagree with that TC, but just
based on some of Scottie's comments about like, he seems
very disinterested with that too, right? Like, yeah, I'm,
you know, doesn't really matter to me. Like, you know, what do
you say, Randy? Like, I'm gonna be be forgotten. Like, it doesn'm, you know, it doesn't really matter to me. Like, you know, what, what do you say, Randy? Like I'm going to be, be forgotten. Like it doesn't, you know,
Yeah. He's like in the end, we're all going to be, we will return.
Super nihilist. Yeah. Yeah. So, so TC, I don't know.
I think he just maybe wants to, no, I just want to play it in the US and watch
the office. Like I'm not really, not really worried about, you know, going Australia. Yeah. Scotty's got, uh, you know, kind of, nah, I just want to play in the U S and watch the office. Like I'm not really, not really worried about, you know, going to Australia. Yeah. Scottie's got, uh, you know,
kind of, um, like I think too, you gotta look at his resume. Like he's got, he's got two majors,
both of the masters, right? Like I kind of want to see, Hey, let's, you know, he's like Bubba right
now. Right. Like, which is funny because that as just major. That's like contradicting your statement before. Right. It was like, you wanted Sawgrass and you
wanted the Golf National or Augusta National, but it's like, yeah, both of his major wins are the
same course. But we talk, I think we talked a couple weeks ago. And of course you see every year.
He plays much better. He doesn't play well on courses, you know, in his first go around.
But next year, I mean, there's a few good opportunities with, you know,
major cities.
Majors are going to be sick next year. Even Quail. Like, I'm kind of talking myself into
Quail a little bit because it's just like, it's going to be...
I just hope they turn the conditions all the way up. That's my hope for Quail.
Is that possible in May, right?
Right.
Like it's, you know... I was going to say in this-
Oakmont and Port Rush are going to be sick.
Yeah. The big black mark on
Scottie's year is the US Open in my opinion.
Like T41 at like the most proper of
proper US Opens is not a great look for Scottie.
Xander was top 10 in both of the majors.
He did not win. So you have that.
Scotty did, you know, Xander was T2 at the players, which, you know, Scotty kind of raced by him on
that last day. I truly believe though, and like, I really think Scotty could have won that PGA,
like, had he not been arrested. Like, that's's kind of like I feel like we have to acknowledge that as crazy as it sounds
Like if you just as a normal week like yeah, there's no way he's not right there Scotty Scotty overcoming
You know the officer Gillis pants situation
Or didn't you know didn't overcome but then overcame a pants situation?
This week which like they had to wear, especially today.
Let's do a little uniform rundown. We'll do some best and worst. I mean, I just felt like it was
a disgrace that Jay Lindbergh got the US golf team sponsorship. How did Ralph Loren let that happen?
You guys are sponsoring like the team USA, like uniforms for everybody. Like why wouldn't you?
The Lindbergh stuff was just not, it wasn't
good. And the pants they, what somebody said he looked like, um, Scott, he was coming out of the
bullpen. Like he looked like a reliever with the stripe down the pants, like a white belt on too.
Yeah. It's not good. The block, the blocky shirts. No, thank you. I hated it.
Awful, truly awful. In my opinion. I'm actually like, I actually bummed that we're even talking about it, but
like A, we have to talk about it, but B, it's like that's their whole thing. Somebody wrote an article,
I think Dan Wolkin wrote an article for Golf Week or USA Today this week about like, hey,
that's their whole deal. They're just trying to generate conversation, even if it's
like they're trying to generate conversation, even if it's people filleting and then like that. Yeah, it's like this 360 thing. It's like, you guys are talking about it, made you look kind of thing.
It's like that's billboard. Don't do that with our national golf team. It's like, yeah, I don't
really want that. I don't know. It feels like it cheapens the Team USA because the colors could be
so... I thought the Chilean team looked
great. They have similar colors to the US and it was just like really clean classic
look. You know, red, white and blue, like not trying to be like stupid about it. Like,
yeah, here's Walker right here. Like just, yeah, blue pants, red shirt, like Chilean
flag on the sleeve, white hat, like sign me up for that. I don't know why I don't
Yeah, you don't have to do too much. You know, it doesn't have
to be I thought the other the Spaniard like, let's go
positives. First, okay, well, let's go around the horn. You
pick pick your favorite uniforms. TCU start with you.
I thought Korea looked great. I thought South Korea looked
awesome. They had just kind of didn't love the hats, but I thought the shirts. It
was a cool font that they had going. Everything fit well. Golf Week had a piece and they were
running down. It was very much like, hey, it't, you know, it was sporty. I thought, you know, the white belt or the WAC or W-A-A-C, which to my knowledge stands
for what an absolute cunt.
It's the acronym that guys on tour say that that stands for.
You know, I could go without that belt buckle and that belt, but I like those.
I thought they, I thought they looked good. So
Randy, I, you know, I, my, my fashion sensibilities lean just very classic conservative. Like I,
I thought Tommy fleet would look great in the team, great Britain outfit. Like he, he just looked
like comfortable and like he would enjoy putting that outfit on,
which contrasted to the US.
I thought those guys had to be pissed putting that on.
I would be.
I didn't find anybody that I disliked as much as the US.
I'll say that Neil.
Like Tron, I know you mentioned the Spaniards.
I thought they were like,
I thought everybody was pretty much fine.
And I thought the US looked like clowns.
I liked actually the Japanese unis I thought were pretty, you know, it was like, it was nice
to see Hideki and something other than yellow, but like kind of that, that, uh, weird pattern
they had going at work for me. I know I'm not a huge descent a guy. Um, you know, I think their
logos kind of stinks and I don't like where they put it. It's just descent, I think, right? Oh, descent. Well, I'm going to call it the sent a, uh, just because I can. Um, and yeah,
like the Japan hat, like I, and the color scheme was good. I thought they, they kept it pretty
minimalist with the, with the actual colors of the clothing and then kind of, uh, got,
got a little avant-garde with the designs. My least favorite, I, you know,
I didn't like Australia's uniforms and mainly because I loved Australia.
It looked weird in a visor. That was my, I was like, that didn't work for me.
It looked like he was wearing one of those, um, visors with the wigs on them.
It just didn't fit. And I don't know, it's a little too, uh, a little too loud.
They were so sick. I thought the Australian ones are just like,
they're just different enough and they're like, they're very Australian. That's what I was going to say,
TC. Normally I think I'd be out on this whole scheme, but you look at that and you're like,
immediately, oh, that's Australia. I'm with you. Okay. Maybe you guys are whipping the votes.
Like they can get a bit of it if they're cool enough. But I just didn't like the visor piece of it. Maybe it's just, well, here's Finland.
I thought Finland was great. They just busted out Times New Roman.
It was very Finnish.
Yeah, just Finland right here, over the heart.
I thought Canada stunk.
Canada was a little too loud.
Canada stunk. Ireland was clean, Ireland was like cleaning classy. I know it was fine
How about how about the big letter hat can?
Big hands, I don't understand like put a maple leaf on there. So, you know, like like yeah
They just don't understand like how how are we getting like it was a few years ago when Roots, like the Canadian company, did the US uniforms or like why is Puma doing the Canadian uniforms?
Like, can we get like, companies that have a big presence in each country to do, you
know, make it feel quintessentially like Jay Lindbergh should be doing the Swedish.
Yeah.
I was about to say the same thing.
Money, TC.
That's very simple. Oh, I know. But can the same thing. Money TC. That's very simple.
Oh, I know.
But can we get like, all right, like Nike or whoever.
Just like spend some money.
Like you spend a ton of money every year.
Spend some money.
It's not like Jay Lindbergh has a bigger purse strings
than you do.
It would be nice if the clothing lined up a little bit more
with the, yeah, like the nation that they're national.
Yeah. But I do like, I mean, there's something to talk about. It is fun to like talk about
these uniforms and, and like, I do like the fact that there's so many different clothing
companies that got in the game here. Like you had ASIC for Australia. I saw Uniqlo.
I don't, I can't remember what team they were sponsoring. Uh, you know, you've got Puma,
you've got, uh, Sweden. Yeah, I think, I think you're right. Um, so it's, you know, you've got Puma, you've got, uh, sweetened.
Uh, yeah, I think, I think you're right.
Um, so it's, you know, it's cool that there's that they're getting involved at least.
Yeah, honestly, outside of today, I didn't think that J. Lindenberg fits for that bad.
Like they're out there, but they're there.
We're talking about it.
And that's exactly what they want.
Today was really, really bad.
Today was like, I feel. The rest of the week.
Like, I feel like all their clothing is just like, they're just adding like one
extra too much flare, too many, you know, it's like, I go to Chachki's if I want
that kind of thing, I just don't understand, like, like, why aren't they
sponsoring Sweden and Norway?
I don't know.
Like sponsor the Scandinavian countries.
They, they had Ludwig and Alex Norton were not going to win.
That's why they yeah, probably more bang for their buck with the Americans.
I guess I do like the fact that they change into the warm up suits for the podium.
Such a sweet tradition.
I think that's sick.
So that was Nike for for the US and that was Adidas for let me me pull it up, for, you know, Tommy looks great, man.
Ducky looks great there too.
You can almost tell me these guys are like distance runners or something.
Yeah, the tracksuits are sweet.
Maybe on a crew team.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, before we get, before we move on, we'll go from the golf national to another fantastic
course, Pinehurst.
Yes.
Pinehurst Resort for 125 years.
Pinehurst Resort has been the home of American golf, and yet there still has never been a
better time to be there.
The championship legacy of Donald Ross' masterpiece, Pinehurst number two, endures as the US Open's
first anchor site with five US open scheduled to return over the
next two decades. At Gil Hanson's redesigned Pinehurst
number four or number six home of the first us adaptive open.
And those are just three of the nine championship golf courses
to experience at Pinehurst. After testing your game there,
grab a few wedges and enjoy a loop on the cradle or 789 yard
short course that has been hailed as the most fun 10 acres in golf off the course,
indulge in an array of craft beers, brewed on site at Pinehurst Brewing Company or relax
with your buddies in the stylish North and South bar.
Pinehurst continues to evolve, making it much more than a bucket list, making it much more
than a bucket list destination, but a place to return to again and again.
Go to pinehurst.com now to plan your
visit. Uh, and TC I'm fired up. We're announcing the event at Pinehurst for, uh, for March.
Pretty sure we are. And you know what? Anybody booking a Pinehurst, try to get on number three
as well. Number three is as much fun as you can have. It's all force and number 10, 10 earlier.
We got a video coming out on that soon. 11 is going to be spectacular.
It's kind of nice to be able to get off, like off site a little bit, kind of, you know,
take a deep breath over a 10.
It's a great wall.
Yeah.
PC, you had noted here, Xander thrown a little shade at Rory.
Was that pre-round or post-round?
I think this was post-round.
So Rory was just talking about how, was golf's quote unquote shit show right now.
It's crazy how two of the best events, the Olympics and the Ryder Cup, which it's amazing to see
Rory come full circle on the Olympics after just completely shitting on it for a three or four year stretch there back in the aughts or the
teens. I don't know what we're calling those. But Xander said he kind of bounces around
with his opinion. He said that, yeah, he's reverted on that topic. But yeah, there's
something to be said about it. There's a lot of heart and patriotism. Proud of what you're
doing and the colors that you're wearing. That's probably what he's referring to
so I mean there's not wrong but
So, yeah, I'm glad that Roy's come full circle and and embrace the Olympics but yeah, you know, he's probably I don't know
He's probably earned that criticism from some of his colleagues of like, you know,
snip, snap, snip, snap, snip, snap, you know, kind of, kind of, I don't always agree with,
I don't always agree with Xander, but Xander is very consistent, right? He's very, he says what
he means and he means what he says and he, and he stays on those blocks. Like he's been
extremely critical of, of Randy's guy, Big Jay Monahan, for a long time now. He's
stayed consistent on that. I did think it was funny where everybody was kind of conflating,
oh my God, these are great events and there's no purse. You should not have a purse for the majors
and all that. I don't know if that's the answer, either. I don't think we need to like, get this into like unpaid labor for these guys. I think it's still, you know, they're still professional athletes,
right? For sure. But I mean, it's just more proof of like the winners in this whole thing are like
stuff that actually has like, I don't know, history and, and, and legacy attached to it.
Like I think that's where when I think about Ram, I feel like he's probably putting a ton of pressure on himself because you know, he cares deeply about those majors.
And so now it's like, oh man, I got to, he may, he might be psyching himself out, you know, four times a year now. And it's like, you know, shows up. He's not playing, he's not playing well. So that'll be very interesting to watch next year. If he can
talk about psyching yourself out four times a year. Rory. Yeah.
I think the, you know, it was definitely cool to see like when you, when you get like,
I know it's important, you know, bronze, silver, gold, all that's important, but the, like
to get your national anthem playing when you're on the podium and seeing Scotty crying and
all that, like Sally texted us. He's like, man, that got me.
Like that was, you know, he was, he was crying when Scotty was
crying in the club.
Yeah.
Well, it is interesting.
Like what Fleetwood said, like it's never, it was never a dream of mine
because he had golf just wasn't in the Olympics.
So nobody was like growing up like, man, I want to play in the Olympics, but
what a, what a funny thing to think about. She was like, Holy shit, I have a gold medal. Like, you know, that wasn't
part of the plan. Like, you know, like what this is, that is so wild. I gotta think too. I just love
seeing like Anthony Edwards go watch the table tennis, you know, and just like the,
the mix of athletes at the Olympics is like, I love those stories. I love seeing that like
opening ceremonies are all taking
pictures together.
Like it's just awesome to see like the cross sport high level
athletes, like, you know, game recognizing game.
So I got to think that's an awesome experience for these
golfers.
Yeah.
Amen.
I think the, uh, I'd just like to say before we kind of move off
of it too, before we do hamster dam and filet mbc, just like to say
Tommy's only 33 years old guys everybody's starting to talk about him in the past tense he's only five
years older than Scotty okay he's got he's got a silver medal at the US Open but what does that mean
he's only five years old what does that mean he's got a he's got a bronze medal at the Masters. Now he's got a silver medal in the Olympics.
I think I'm more convinced than ever that Tommy is going to win a major.
Okay.
T.C., you know, that's great.
I mean, yeah, why?
Why?
Like, why?
He's playing some of the best golf I've ever seen him play before.
I think he's on the head
He was right there. He was 19 under
Self and he keeps putting himself in these positions. What did Xander say?
at you know at
Trune he's like man like I just
You just gotta keep putting yourself in position. You learn from the failures you learn from working with but she's got yeah
I'm telling you man. It's coming. It's cool. I know is back. It's coming. I'm proud of those guys
I just think we should set our goals a little
Smaller like let's take baby steps. Let's just win a PGA Tour event, you know, like let's let's start there
I'm not worried about talking about majors more event. I think he's going to win a P.
I have no doubt he's going to win a PGA Tour event.
And I know, but like.
But he just keeps not done it.
All right, would you guys?
Would you guys put more stock in it if he won?
Let's say he won Wyndham.
Hell yeah.
Would you put more stock in that or an Olympics win?
His Olympics didn't win Olympics.
I know I'm just saying theoretically, if he would have won the Olympics, would
you put more stock in Wyndham or the Olympics?
I mean, I definitely would have been on this podcast.
If he won the Olympics, I would have been on this podcast.
You've got a limited field.
You've got no cut, all that stuff.
Like, listen, I think if you out duel Scotty to win an Olympic gold, like tip the hat, I'm not going to throw too much shade at that.
But there's one problem. He didn't. He didn't.
Randy, how old was Phil Mickelson when he won his first?
I know, but he's not Phil, right? He's just not Phil.
Like the thing was Xander too is like Xander's won on the PGA Tour.
That's my thing with Tommy is like he just doesn't really win.
He didn't even play the PGA Tour for the first seven or eight years of his career.
He's only been playing the PGA tour for a few years now.
Like he's all he's supposed to have a night off of this family, but he's, he's
all over the chat for some reason more wins in the next five years, Tom Kim or
Tommy and this I'll even say Tom Kim, uh, two of those years, Tom, Kim, or Tommy. And I'll even say Tom Kim, two of those years, including his
military service.
I still think it might be Tom Kim.
I know TC. That's tough, man. I think, I think if you're putting money on that, you're picking
Tom Kim quietly. All right, we'll see. We'll see. No, I'm not. I'm not putting money on
Tom Kim. Okay. Okay. All right. Well, I appreciate.
I appreciate your ride or die for, for, uh, for Tommy lead and,
and you will be doing that extra hour in the waffle house because he didn't win the open either.
So 25 hours in the waffle house for TC minus any waffles. I eat, of course, what's the next,
what's the next event you're targeting? I mean, shit, like the East Lake or like, you know,
the Castle Pines, the BMW Castle Pines.
Okay.
But is there like a particular major event
that's coming up?
Yeah, I mean, I think Oakmont's a great fit for him.
I think Port Rush is a great fit for him.
Both of those are great.
I don't think, you know, I think that Coil Hollow great fit for him. Both of those are great. I think that
Coil Hollow is probably going to be a thoroughbred. That's going to be the Belmont Stakes. That's
going to be Xander, Rory, Scotty, maybe JT if he can find form, Ludwig, the guys that hit it 350.
We'll see. I'm bullish. I'm buying up more stock.
I'm like Neil, I respect your ride or die. I just, I'm just not going to ride with you.
I did, guys. I legitimately did. I was looking at flights last night. Alex said, if you need to go,
you can go. I said, we're not going to cheapen it. This isn't a major. I'm glad I didn't because
Dulles sounded like it was a mess yesterday, but I did
check. I would have gotten in three hours delay, but I would have gotten in at 10 a.m. into Paris,
but I'm not doing that. We're not doing that for non-majors. All right, TC, I know you got a few
coverage takes. I'll let you empty the chamber there. Well, I do want to say I'm stoked for, for LA. I think this is like
the perfect finish for Olympics heading into LA. It's establishing some momentum. Riviera,
like, I don't know if you guys watched much of the USA, Riviera when they had it there, but it
plays so different in June, July, August than it does in February. And we get to see Riviera every year, but
it seems like it's almost only a shade or a shell of itself in February versus being
firm, fast, dried out. It's going to be awesome in 2028. So looking forward to that.
What I'm not looking forward to is watching it on NBC again. Just brutal. I think
the commentators were getting paid by the word this weekend. I don't think there was a single
pause at any point. A like Faxon, love him to death, but he was just constantly talking over caddy conversations
and even wrong stuff, just dead wrong sans.
It just didn't feel big.
I know that they've got their hands tied a little bit with some of the production stuff
is more of an international feed, but my family in Sweden, they were they were complaining.
They're like, man, like, is this what you guys have to deal with on a weekly basis?
Because this is like they were getting the same kind of feed.
There's not really anywhere good to like
track scores, especially whole by whole scores.
That was really, really tough.
Yeah, I found that like it's hard to just find the Olympics websites, both good and bad.
I'd have to unpack that a little bit, but it's almost like going back in time.
Yeah, it's hard to find, like, info.
I'm like, OK, well, I just want to know, like when the like,
you know, when we were doing the Trap Draw Olympics, I was like trying to look up
a schedule, it's just hard to find, like, you know, there's so many events.
It's hard to dig through that that website.
Yeah. But yeah.
And it was just, you know, it's just very much a. I don't know. It just didn't it didn't feel big. It didn't feel like it matched up with the energy that was on
the ground, but that goes for pretty much all of NBC's stuff. They fucked up the 100-meter race
tonight. They're cutting to swimming through, they're cutting
to commercial midway through certain races.
I don't blame them.
I don't know how some of those people swim for that damn long, man.
They're long races.
The whole thing is so low rent and just really, really poor.
It reflects poorly.
It's the way of the world now. I don't know. I just think
they're cutting a commercial mid-play during… and not even playing through,
just cutting a commercial mid-play during the most important possession of certain games.
They didn't even televise the fucking tennis today, which is one of the best matches that's
been played in the last decade. Alkaraz Djokovic.
They just threw it on the cock and didn't really put anything behind it. They've got five channels they're putting this stuff on. It's a complete disgrace.
Well, we were talking about on the Olympics pod we did. You find that on the trap draw.
It's just so hard with the time zones and now with social media. It is difficult. How do you
present this in prime time? It has to almost
become like an Olympic sports center in a way, which I've enjoyed. Honestly, I've enjoyed just
giving up. All right, you know what? I'm not going to catch a lot of stuff live, but I've been
throwing it on every night and it's still fun to watch. Oh, actually, you know what? I would like
to see what happens. I already know who won this swimming race, but I'll still watch it.
know who won this swimming race, but I'll still watch it. I would balance you out a little bit. The GoldZone stuff has been very good. Yeah, that's been fantastic.
I've been utilizing my Peacock subscription. There is access to all of this stuff. I wish,
if we have the Peacock stuff, I wish they would just
protect or I don't know, treat the audience a little bit better on the main channels,
especially for like the final rounds and like the big, the big events of like, Hey man, let's,
you know, like, like, let's get the ads out of the way. And then some, you know, something else I
have noticed though, generally is like, listen, I'm a fan of Snoop Dogg. I got no problem with him.
And like bringing in Peyton, I thought Peyton did fine on the opening ceremonies,
but like Kelly Clarkson, I'm like, all right, I don't know what you're paying these guys.
The opening ceremonies were like,
coverage was awful.
Like fencing or like judo. Like you can tell the, the announcer's like not in the room.
And they're basically calling it from like probably up in Connecticut. And so
half the time they don't really know what's going on like because they can't see anything in the arena to
be like so the I don't know it feels like we're cutting some corners on the the commentating so
that we can make room for some big contracts on the top. You've got random golf channel commentators on a variety of
different sports. Yeah. Yeah. So
it feels a little bit like, okay, but we're going to bring Snoop Dogg into code to like every single
event. It's like, well, that's, that's kind of, that's our girl aunt Molly. So outside of a rich
and Terry crush at what their sports, like what they do. I agree. I think that I was like, no,
no issue with that. But it's just a matter of like, the but I think a lot of these, you know, I
think a lot of the talent isn't being put in a position to
succeed.
I'm more curious on where's the rest of like that normal NBC
golf team? Like where's like we're smiling.
Great question. I mean, I think he was in.
We go off. Yeah.
I don't know. Randy, any cover takes?
Yeah. No, I mean, I hate to say this.
I'll praise the cock just because like you can go into any sport and watch the replay.
Like I've watched more ping pong for instance,
than I've ever watched.
So it's there, but I sympathize what you're saying
with like the stuff they put on linear TV,
like that the main broadcasts probably are lacking.
So it's, and you know, it's just like,
hey, we're gonna raise the price of Peacock like two weeks.
That was a snap tap. Yeah, it's just like. So ch we're going to raise the price of peacock. Like two weeks. That was, that was a snap.
Yeah.
So it's like, it's just little stuff like that.
But yes, like I can watch any event and anywhere, like it's very easy to find the
event.
So I do appreciate that at least.
Yeah.
What, uh, what have you guys been watching?
Neil?
Oh man. You know what I got? I was pretty into, uh, I like you guys been watching? Neil? Oh man.
You know what I got?
I was pretty into, uh, I like, I really liked the team, men's and women's four by 400 relay.
The mid totally totally missed that coed event in Tokyo.
And I watched that last night.
I was like, that was awesome.
And that Dutch, that Dutch chick came out of nowhere and just stole it from the U S like
that was
the coolest race I've, I've seen, you know, so far.
I missed the a hundred meter.
I got to watch the replay, but apparently that was probably the coolest race so far.
But man, I just, I liked the coed stuff and it made me think about the golf too.
It's like, man, we more coed stuff.
I'm, I'm into that.
It just, they had just a lot of variables and, and, uh, I, that was really
fun. What else have I watched? You know, I didn't realize how into judo, um, the French
are. And so, uh, I watched a couple of Judah. I watched the gold medal match. I can't remember
like what weight class it was. I had literally zero idea how any of the score, like there
was like no score. And then they go into like the golden, golden scoring where it's
like first person to do something. I don't really know what it is. Like if they look,
cause they, they go to the mat a bunch and then they just like, all right, everybody stand up.
And then they go back at it and then everybody stand up. It's like, I have no idea what happened,
but this gold medal match, these guys went for like eight minutes in like the golden scoring
period. They were so gassed and this like, uh, I think he was maybe, maybe from Kazakhstan or something,
or maybe Georgia. I don't know. This guy was a total beast and he, he beat the French guy,
but the French guy like went, like went for broke and tried to like, it looked like he was trying to
do some, uh, he was trying to win and he didn't win, but he, you know, the announcers were praising
him for his, uh, for his courage. Uh, but I just didn't, I still watch, I probably watched 20 minutes of judo, still don't understand how it works at all.
That's kind of sick. Yeah. Which, which most sports I could pick up pretty quick. I was like,
I just, I don't know. I can't, it's, it's kind of eye testy. Yeah. Uh, but there there's a,
I think the flag bearer for France was a judo guy, like big, heavyweight judo dude.
So yeah.
And then I, what else have I, my wife played field hockey in college, watching field hockey,
man, but hockey's tough, dude.
It's so much stoppage.
Men's games a little bit, little more, they let them play a little bit more, but
I saw a great highlight. Did you see that? Like stop the us made on Spain and then the break,
break out, break away gold, Neil.
I did not see that. No. Okay. I have to, I have to fire up the car.
I mean, that probably is the only field hockey play I've ever seen in my life,
but I was a shot put last night with the burly American dudes. Uh,
what one I've expected wrong to be going out there. Yeah. He's got a very sharp body. I mean, I think
the highlight for me, Cody, you can bring up the picture was synchronized diving. The Chinese team,
Long Wang, the Chinese absolute assassins on the diving boards. Mexicans had a good run though.
diving on the diving boards. Mexicans had a good run though.
But yeah, I got to snap this dick last night.
How about the guy on the pole vault? Yeah. I missed out on a gold medal because it's got in the way. It's incredible. Oh,
man. Randy, what are you watching?
Oh my god. Well, table tennis guys. Yeah, I'm behind I know
doubles are so sick when I know alternate. It's so sick.
I've been grinding through.
I've started in the quarter finals for the men and the women I've been grinding.
I'm faster. There was a North Korean woman that was really good.
She ended up falling to a South Korean woman in the quarters.
Like North Korea fascinates me.
Like to get on a plane out of North
Korea and come to Paris, she must be seeing shit she has never seen in her life. And the
announcers were saying, nobody knows how good this woman is because she doesn't play in
any of the normal tournaments. She's not on the circuits. People are like total blindspot.
It's kind of like Liv. We don't know how good they are. No contact.
Lil Kimmy should sign up for golf.
These women, the women table tennis though,
like they're celebrating every point one, which is crazy.
Oh, they're towing off like it's regular tennis.
They're sweating.
Is there anything better, Randy, than when they set up
to serve and they come in and they like whip the ball in under the battle and get right up close to the table and then bounce
it a couple of times.
You see, we, you and I were watching that same early match.
What was it?
The, uh, it was like round of 64.
It was Ecuador versus Australia.
Yeah.
And, uh, and the Ecuadorian guy came racing back and, and it was one of the
best comebacks I've ever seen.
And he had like, Randy had like an adult, uh, like when he was receiving the
serve, he would like patter his feet, you know, like sweat bullets.
I do think the coaches, the coaches are clapping like obnoxiously loud.
You know, I know.
I do think it's bullshit.
They don't have to retrieve their own ping pong ball though, you know?
Cause like, I feel like that's part of the sport, you know, we've all played in the basement, you got to go fetch the ball out of the
most awkward nooks and crannies. They show the coach, the ping pong coach. Yeah, I've been locked
in on the table tennis, you know, like you said, doubles has been awesome. But yeah, it was just like the
scoring too. Like we need to start doing, I think when we play, we need to start doing the
same scoring versus the 21. I think that's where it's at. I've also been going in on the canoe
slalom was awesome this morning. That was like, is that a multi-person or a single person?
There's different... In the canoe. I think the canoe... I think it's single.
The canoes... I watched the singles and there's the slalom and like the gates and
or are you talking about like they also do like... Well there's multiple. Yeah
there's the canoe racing and there's kind of the slalom and then I think
there's another one as well and then like kayak is good as well. Like the you
know, those courses that they built for that sailing has been
dope, like down in Marseille. Rugby sevens was awesome. On the
it was like, it was like very like approachable rugby of like
kind of fast paced kind of everything. You know, the the
South African blitz blitz box. And then and then yeah, tennis was awesome this
morning, too. So I'm getting stoked for the men and women 800
meters. I know. I think that's my favorite.
Running event there is.
Yeah, it's like, just masochism. It's awesome.
Randy out of let's get out of the pool.
Let's go to the track.
I'm done with swimming.
Well, you were riding for swimming last week.
No, I was a track guy thing.
Anyway, I'm sick of it.
If I was upset for me one Randy,
I know you mentioned you don't enjoy
the beach volleyball.
I love it.
I really do.
I think the beach volleyball is awesome.
The actual like men's
indoor volleyball though, we need to chill those guys out. The way they celebrate every spike and
point is so annoying. It's like they all been trained since they were little kids. Like if you
don't celebrate with your team and get all fired up on these kills and spikes, then like you're on
the bench. And it's just like exhausting. It's like guys take it down a notch. You know, it's just like exhausting. It's like guys, take it down a notch. You know, it's just like, it's too much rah rah. Uh, but man, those guys jump out of the,
God, those guys are getting up. I know. Crazy. Uh, I would say we, we got the badminton finals
tomorrow. Badminton is fun to watch. Uh, both, both, both men's and women's singles. So,
and then Randy, I have enjoyed the three on three basketball. It's a little gimmicky, but, uh,
it's fast paced.
Can we talk about how was the US so fucking bad?
Like, why do we not have NBA guys playing three on three?
Why do we have Jim or Fredette?
Well, he got hurt.
I don't know the answer to that question, TC.
I don't know if it's in the rules,
like we're not allowed to send NBA guys or what's going on.
Well, we previewed it.
We didn't, I didn't recognize other than
Jim or Fredette and then like the other dude on the US team. Well, two of them, Canyon Berry.
Yeah. Canyon Berry and the point guard. The defensive player of the year. Yeah. But I didn't
recognize anybody on any of the international teams. So I don't know if it is a rule against like
NBA dudes playing. It might be an NBA thing.
Yeah, I don't know.
But the game's fun.
It's pick up hoops.
It's just like, it's really fast paced.
So I've enjoyed watching that.
Have I missed the breaking?
I haven't seen that either, actually.
Breaking is the 10th and 11th.
OK. It's like two of the last events. Breaking is the 10th and 11th.
It's like two of the last events.
Cody, what are you even watching?
Just this one guy, this hitter right here.
I don't know what his deal is,
but he's like a 50 year old dude from Turkey
who's in the air pistol competition.
Everybody goes out there with his fancy ass glasses to help him concentrate and breathing suits and stuff. He rolled out there, you know, with his fancy ass glasses
to help him concentrate and breathing suits and stuff. He rolled out there like a straight
dad. He's probably wearing new balance shoes, put his hand in his pocket to anchor him down
and just firing bullseyes ended up winning silver.
A lot of people were saying that was that he was like the trap draw versus versus the
man.
I mean, he's the goat. No, I saw another funny one.
It was like the, you know, the woman with all the gear, you know, like with the funny
posture was like, that's like a William Faulkner sentence.
And then this guy's a Hemingway sentence.
That was I thought that was spot on.
Oh man, that's good stuff.
That guy's fantastic. the bad shit tied to it but the fact that she is competing at her age and is
still like whipping everybody's butt and then a big L on the women's hundred
meter yeah not really expecting that but it's been great so far yeah Neil I know
you're a big dressage guy no I saw I saw Rory Rory put that on that was really disappointing I hope that was a joke the dressage is a disgrace it should not be and dressage is so stupid. Come on, Cody. Let's get this picture up.
Yeah, I went to California like four years ago.
I put a freaking helmet on.
I don't want to end up like Superman.
Is that a standard issue helmet?
Yeah, they were like, yo, put this on.
I was like, hell yeah, I'll put that on.
I don't want to get bucked off this thing.
Didn't you do this in England a couple years ago too?
I have so many horse pictures of him.
I did it in Argentina on my honeymoon,
but I didn't, I don't think I wore a helmet,
or maybe I did.
I wore a helmet when I was in England
and I did it with my in-laws,
and that's when Cody really wrecked me.
And he put the riding boots on.
I did put the riding boots on.
I mean, when in Rome, if you're in England.
Snoop's outfit, listen,
I know it's a little too much Snoop,
but I'm just so sick.
He was kind of sea walking with the long boots on.
That was great.
Guys, I do want to say I think the pommel horse is a disgrace.
I'm listening to that.
I was watching that last night and we got the guy in the glasses, the American guy in the glasses, who I have no problem with.
I just think pommel horse, generally speaking, is it's just, it's low rent.
Take it away.
It's so hard to see you.
I'm sure the kids have had to do a birthday party at the gymnastics center.
It is so hard, dude.
The male gymnastics guys are watching those guys do the floor routine is unbelievable.
The guy from Japan, Hashimoto, beast mode, man.
That Japanese dude.
I think the rings are the most impressive though.
When those guys do the holds on the rings, I can't even fathom that shoulder strength.
It's crazy.
I guess I just have a problem too when they're just slurping the American guy.
And I think he won what, bronze or silver?
And they didn't even give any sort of run to the Irish guy that won the gold and it's like well, what are we doing here?
Like that's that's the whole thing. Like it's it's sometimes NBC just gets so
Jingoistic and locked in on the American instead of covering the competition. I think that's their job, dude
Do you see that's fair I'm not gonna argue you know who else is in a bad spot though?
Who?
Sully's guy Big Tone.
Oh yeah, some news out of Utah.
Do you see, take us there.
Yeah, this is courtesy of the Deseret,
this is like a big Salt Lake City,
news, newspaper, news site, whatever
protesters confront Tony female aka big tone before annual clinic and charity
events
Tony foundation or fraud Tony or a fraud
Tony be honest all these, keep your word.
Tony, pay your debts.
Tony, pay your family back.
Tony, don't forget Uncle Toa.
All this.
Of course, this goes back to the lawsuit that Tony is currently facing.
I think it is going to trial.
Some guy has kind of fronted him money way back. I don't know if it was him or his dad, but for
Tony and his brother Gipper's professional golf career way back and said, I'm entitled to,
I think it was like 20% of his career earnings. And so Tony's been, you know, so he's saying, Hey, you know, load you guys
over 100 grand, all sorts of travel, rent payments, all that stuff. And, you know, there's
just, it's a kind of a he said, she said, so they showed up at the corn fairy tour or
the at the Tony's foundation event this week at the same place that they're having the corn fairy
tour event and you know and Tony's manager from Wasserman he's now Ryan Qualtrics Ryan
hired him as like the head of the Utah hockey team the new expansion NHL franchise or whatever
the coyotes are turning into so he's he's taking a step back from Tony's affairs and everything here.
But very much a he said, she said,
and all sorts of different downstream effects.
I think family members that are caught in the middle of it and everything as well.
Listen, that's tough.
Look, the guy asking for 20 percent of his career earnings in like perpetuity is maybe, you know,
He gave him a big break.
Yeah, it feels like it might be a little excessive.
TC, it looks like the tour,
Air PGA Tours, making some trips to Steamboat.
Yeah. Yeah. Well, like I know Randy was up there this week.
Randy, any sign of Big J? No, no signs. Catamount. No, I can confirm Catamount was getting ready for the
big Prowler Cup this weekend. No word on who may have won that. But yeah, thank you for your,
we were looking for J. We did not see him. I'm assuming they're dropping Jay off and then coming back.
So that's counting as multiple trips or whatever.
But eighth visit to steamboat since May 31st in 60, 62 days.
He's got to oversee that house getting done.
That's a lot of fuel for that citation.
Hearing through the grapevine that A, that the executive search firms have been mobilized
to get a new PGA Tour commissioner or CEO in place, and that hearing some things from
people who don't normally talk that it J's days might be numbered.
You know, TC has his sources because these guys are birds out there.
It's really incredible. He's lasted this long. It's crazy.
It's like I just hats off to the guy I respect.
I respect it. I mean, but I guess I go out to streamboat eight times,, if they weren't gonna, you know, it's like, yeah.
I mean, it makes sense though. Like nobody wants that job right now. It's like sitting down at the chessboard and it's like, ah crap.
You know, you're stuck in the corner just like on the flip side though. It's kind of the opposite of like, all right.
You know what? Like following a legend like nobody wants to follow a legend.
But like, you know, you kind of do want to come in and like, all right,
like anything's going to look good in comparison.
It sounds like everybody from everything we're hearing 2026 is the year everything's coming
back together.
25 is kind of shot at this point.
I think they're trying to, this is how petty it sounds.
They're trying to get everybody's live contracts to spot.
A lot of these guys live contracts to expire so
that they can basically be caught in limbo with nowhere to play. Glad we're making decisions based
on that stuff. Really cool. Speaking of litigation, been tracking this one for a few months. Finally
broke in the news.
Nick Dunlap, this is courtesy of Sports Business Journal, Josh Carpenter continues to do great
work over there.
Nick Dunlap is suing his agency, GSE.
GSE is of course, you know, agency to most of the guys that decant for live. But he's suing
his agency. I think the agency is counter suing. And it just sounds like a total mess.
And there it's kind of a he said she said and you know, they're they're saying that
the parents were too involved or, you know, trying to kind of, you know, take some things over.
What is this boiled down to? What's the actual thrust?
What's the heart of it?
Basically saying that he signed a one-year contract with GSE, who he'd already worked with,
with NIL representation. And essentially he just wants to get out of it. And so it's a matter of,
hey, how do you know? And then GSE is then claiming that the structure that, you
know, Nick Dunlap golf is this LLC that was, that was set up, I guess everything's running
through that pass through. So he, you know, for tax purposes. So then, you know, that
I guess was, well, no, there's a family lawyer involved. Dunlaps, yeah. So Dunlaps marketing activities and revenues, but then giving control to his parents and
his lawyer, and their lawyer, this guy, something Simpson.
And so, you know, there's some he said, she said of, hey, the parents are too involved
or, you know, Nick doesn't have control of his own kind of affairs here as well.
So, you know, meanwhile, a two-time winner, like, keeps,
yeah, hope he, hope they could get this figured out because that's so distracting when he's having
like, it's not, he's having an awesome year, but also maybe like not loving the switch from college.
It's like, oh man, then you got this noise in the background. Like that's just, that's,
It's like, oh man, then you got this noise in the background. That's just, that's tough. And there's bad, I mean, the claim said that Kevin Canning, the GSE agent, told the person
that Jim Dunlap, who's the lawyer, was a drunk, controlling, alcoholic asshole who is too tough
on Nick Dunlap. So that's in the stuff. I've heard through the Gravevine that
Dunlap hasn't loved tour life. He went from being a college kid to kind of lonely out on tour, which
you can certainly see that. It's kind of a tough existence, especially if you're kind of thrown
into it unexpectedly after winning a tour event as an amateur. So-
I think it goes a little deeper than that too, not just a college kid, but grew up as a homeschool kid and kind of been really close with his mom and
dad. But really that's the only outside of traveling to, you know, big junior golf events.
And going to Bama was kind of the, the only time that he really had a structure outside of his mom
and dad around him. And I think it's been just a really tough transition. He's only 20 years old still. And I think that's there's a lot coming at him for somebody who's
like, you know, theoretically should still be a sophomore in college.
Yeah. So anyway, hope it you know, he sounds like a good kid, too. So you hope it hope
it works out. Obviously, a great, great career ahead of him. And, you know, it sounds like, hey, just, just, you know, pay the commissions and get
the hell out of the contract.
So, uh, what else we got?
We got, it was kind of a weird, weird week of news and notes.
I saw the tours doing an influencer event during, uh, East Lake.
Did you guys get your invite?
I'm going to be there.
I did not.
I did not. I saw Bryson wanted an invite too.
He's games trending too Randy. What a love it. I know. I love to take my talents to East Lake.
Yeah, so I did see some pictures of East Lake after the renovation.
Pretty remarkable what they've been able to do in
since last, you know, since this time last year basically or you know,
late August last year ripping that up and re growing. So keen to see that for for the tour championship. We've got Keegan was named as captain for the president's cup. No, no shock there. But, you know, yeah, I think that's good. Let's get it. Yeah, we got it. Yeah, it probably makes sense dress rehearsal. That makes sense. T.C. The Greenbriars up for auction. How about that?
Randy's got a big gym. I guess just just not paying his bills allegedly.
Sharp. This is a little bit easy. Oh, this is fake news. Yeah, I heard this is all done. Nothing to
see here. Keep it moving. Of course, the justice
family pays their debts just on their own time. And that sounds kind of familiar, you
know?
It does.
It sounds like another political stunt by the Democrat machine. That's what they're
saying.
Some good news for Gary Player. Not good news. some fun news. Yeah, Gary Player, I guess, you know, selling off.
It sounds like it wasn't, I'm not sure if it was him or the son or whomever, but you
know, he sold, so Player's stuff was sold, went through auction on Golden Age Auctions.
Gary said, quote, several articles have been written about the recent sale of a replica
Claret jug that I wanted the 1974.
Was this the open that he that he allegedly cheated at at Lidham when he played the shot
left handed next to the clubhouse?
Believe so.
Um, it was recently auctioned and I feel it was necessary for me to correct inaccuracies
containing those articles.
Neither of the 1974 Masters or open trophy were sold by me or by one of my
companies. Each of these trophies was granted me for my sole use and enjoyment as winner of their respective majors.
The person entrusted with ensuring the safekeeping of these items on my behalf and who was tasked with using them to
enshrine my golfing achievements has done the opposite By offering them for sale without white consent and against my wishes my legal team is taking appropriate steps to resolve this unlawful situation
Signed the black knight Gary player to which Ryan Carey who actually friend friend of the program
Ryan's a great guy runs a great, Golden Age Auctions. He said,
unfortunately, Mr. Player's statements about the sale of replica trophies are not accurate.
He told Golf Digest this. Shortly after the COVID pandemic began, Gary Player's company had serious
cashflow issues and reached out to a number of auction houses to sell its collection of replica
trophies in order to meet
payroll. Golden Age then facilitated a private transaction between Gary Player's Black Knight
International and a private buyer. Net proceeds of this sale were paid directly to Gary Player's
Black Knight International. The private buyer then sold some of the trophies, including this exact
same 1974 Claret jug at auction November 2020. Mr.
Player was well aware of those sales back in 2020. And he was aware of them when he made these
contradictory statements today. That's a tough for bottle there. So it feels like he has received
is the moral story. It sounded like he just needed to live to come around a little bit earlier, right? And, and become a golf Saudi ambassador a few years, a few years
earlier to kind of help those cashflow and maybe sell some more of those encore balls
as well.
Uh, well, there is a weird, weird situation though, because he, he, is he still a golf
Saudi ambassador?
Is he? I don't know. I don't know if he is or not. Yeah,
he was golf Saudi ambassador prior to live. And then I think everybody kind of expected him
to jump on and be like, you know, the kind of the the Commissioner emeritus or something like that
and carry that on. And then he made statements right away. It's like, No, this goes against
everything that I stand for competition and everything and kind of like fumbled it. You would think, I don't think
Liv kept them around there, which is crazy because I've been watching your guy Pete Rose documentary
on HBO or Netflix or something like that big and God, there's just some crazy similarities there.
big. And God, there's just some crazy similarities there. Hit King.
He, yeah, I think it just makes me respect Arnold Palmer that much more than what he was able to
achieve from a business perspective. When you look at Gary and then Jack Nicholas, you know,
in his, his whatever the opposite of exploits or his business misadventures and Howard Milstein relationship and all that stuff.
Speaking of Liv, we've got a proposed 2025 schedule for Liv. Neil, anything stand out to you here?
I mean, it looks like they're running it back with some of these golf- golf, hungry cities like Nashville, taking an event to DC in June
of next year.
Indianapolis, which feels like another one of those cities.
It's like, I bet we'll turn up and, and, you know, support an event like this.
So nothing really, nothing really stands out.
I mean, Adelaide's again in February, then Hong Kong, Singapore,
Austin, Texas, Tokyo. Going to South Korea, I think that's new.
South Korea and Japan, both new. I think that like Austin, really keen to see where they're
going to go in Austin. I think the same deal with Tokyo. I think it looks like they've got a slot for a Lynx event, potentially, prior to the British
Open.
That seemed like kind of a feedback from Rom of like, hey, we need to prep for the Open
Championship.
And then Dallas in August.
Cody, can you kind of walk us through Dallas in late August?
It's hot. We're triple digits here, man. late August, Cody, can you kind of walk us through Dallas in late August?
It's hot.
We're triple digits here, man.
It's going to be pretty bad.
There is a little bit of movement on this board.
I don't think they started in Saudi Arabia.
That's a new kickoff spot.
Adelaide's actually moved up.
It was later in March.
Now it's in February.
A little bit better date there.
Mexico City?
Yeah, I like that. If that goes to Tripoltapec bit better date there. Um, I kind of like the city.
Yeah.
I like that.
If that goes to triple to pack, I'm there.
I might go down for that.
And hopefully, hopefully they, hopefully they sign, uh, what,
what's the kid's name?
Geronimo.
You can bring him over from the tour.
So, all right. we have a result. Moria, Jitanna Garn won it minus 22, uh, two ahead of, uh, Narin on, uh, who w
whole in one was on the 16th hole to take the lead Cody.
Yes, sir.
You get right back.
Yep.
That's, uh, that's all I saw. Been focusing on, I think this is Maria's first win in like three years, but nice to
see Angel Yin up there.
LC, another top 10 finish.
I mean, come on, why is she not in Paris?
Kidding, but more and less locked up a Solheim Cup spot.
So exciting stuff in Portland as we turn
to the Women's Olympic competition.
Yeah, the, the, uh, Natalia Guseva,
the Russian athlete on the LPGA tour also
up there in the hunt.
Alexa Pano, kind of a, a tough, tough Sunday for her 74.
You know, kind of right in the hunt there.
And I think Grace Kim kind of let this one slip away too.
Her and Andrew Lee were both right there and kind of didn't do much on the weekend.
The setup was so soft.
Like it was good to see them back at Columbia Edgewater after I think they moved it recent
years because the homeless situation was so bad nearby the club and they've since put it back
there but the course was just soaked. I mean just the setup was atrocious. So yeah looking forward
to Solheim. Here in RTJ is kind of primo right now. Excited to see it. So and then JP.
now. Excited to see it. So, um, and then he, yeah. Western amateur out at Moraine in, in, in Brandy's neck of the woods.
Yes. How close to Ohio?
Yeah. Dayton. We had a couple, a couple Florida Gators going at
it in the finals and, uh, they had an 11 hole playoff.
Whoa.
Ian Gilligan outlasted his, Gator teammate Jack Turner in an 11 hole playoff.
So there was some good coverage of that this week.
There was all sorts of hot mics out there on the broadcast as well.
So a little bit disappointed to see some of the big time amateurs not not playing that event,
skipping that event. I think that was that's that's kind of a bummer to see. Speaking of kind of
former big time amateurs, we had Koala Carl, Carl Phillips, won the Korn Ferry Tour Utah Championship.
Are you guys not familiar with Koala Carl? No, It's like that's his Instagram. He was kind of
like a junior sensation out of Australia. Went to Stanford. Didn't have a great college career,
but then would play well kind of in the summer and kind of boost his profile there. And he Mondayed into a few
Corn Fairy Tour events and he's kind of been on a heater. He's basically just locked up his tour
card for next year. So going in like a four to six week stretch, going from zero status whatsoever
out there to full PGA Tour full PGA to work hard. William
Mao was the runner up chairman, Chairman Mao from from Pepperdine.
I believe he's he's close to locking up his I believe Mao
had on like one of the most egregious Kenny Wayne
Shepherds I've ever seen just like dark blue on with black
pants and black belt just hell black belt. Just hell yeah, brother.
So I saw a highlight of that.
God, you know, that's what I'm trying to do, though, go on a
heater like a four to six week heater head into the NIT Randy
just lighting in a bottle, baby.
According to JD stand here, Phillips is 48 under par the
last two weeks on the corn fairy tour.
So we had the US senior women's open at Fox Chapel. Phillips is 48 under par the last two weeks on the corner fairy tour so
We had the US senior women's open at Fox Chapel
Letta Lindley shot a final round 64 to win by two
Low round of the day by two only seven rounds under 71 today. She shot 64. She was five back at the start a
Couple of Japanese ladies are really second, third and fifth for
Japanese ladies. Annika finished fourth. Julie Inkster played well, but putter kind of held her
back. So we should could have watched more of that Fox chat. Yeah. Great. Great. Yeah. Pittsburgh
fans were out there having full force, which was cool to see. So what do we got going on? Yeah.
We'll bring it home with some housekeeping stuff.
Got a lot of videos in the edit bay right now.
So the band and vlogs,
the vloggy boys out of band in earlier this year.
So we have those live on our channel with the,
I think the final one of band and dunes coming out this week,
which with, I believe a guest in the studio
to do some commentary, a well-known golfer,
friend of the program coming to offer some analysis of solids rounded band-aids. So check
those out on our YouTube channel. We have some TPI content coming out the next couple weeks as
well. Getting in the lab, TC and I were actually just out there this week. And I mean, God, eye opening experience.
Uh, it turns out I had a reverse minus 14 degree reverse spine angle.
Cody didn't know about that.
Uh, you know, apparently it was more of an arched back situation.
Anyway, what much more to come on?
Neil basically had, had an, like, like a suicide vest strapped to his back.
Yeah.
He was like, listen, man,
you're gonna blow your back out
if you keep swinging like this.
Like not, it's not if, it's when.
I was like, that's alarming.
What'd you guys think of Dr. Gregg in the process though?
It's pretty sweet.
I mean, he's unbelievable.
He's like the perfect mix of like really, really smart,
really diverse interests and knowledge on, you know, not just on golf,
but like just he's a chiropractor. He grows his own food, you know, like just sweet,
Bill, interesting, enlightened cat. And then, but also super duper patient, like no bad
questions. Yeah. You know, he's like, he's basically down to just like hang out and talk
about the golf swing all day. It hooks you up to always like 3D motion capture,
force plates.
It's really cool.
And I'm just blown away by how much they're working
with like MLB players out there.
You know, just like ground force stuff
for other sports is starting to pick up.
So it's just, it's fascinating to get a look at that stuff.
So we'll have some video content on that.
One of the guys texted Ben afterwards. Ben was just trying to get some of the footage.
They're texting, he said, quote, I've seen hundreds of assessments at TPI, but not sure
I can recall such a good player with such horrible mobility. For you? Yeah. TC literally,
he's like awesome. He's like a pestrified piece of wood, his, his torso and his hips.
He cannot disassociate them.
Uh, which is really unbelievable, really sick.
Uh, so yeah, uh, nest is humming.
We've got a Himalayas putting while weird world of putting video, um, at the
Himalayas, uh, St.
Andrews fun video there.
Nest pod was great. We dove into the process
with KVV on just how do you get a feature off the ground? So Cody and I had a nice,
nice catch up with him. Also, if you're curious about how we got Twitter hacked, we went into
that as well. So that was, that was enlightened stuff.
Still, I'm still waiting on my MacBook Pro.
Yeah. So yeah, you can join, you know, go to, uh, no laying up.com and then click on the
nest tab. You can kind of explore, even if you're not a nest, you can explore the offering there.
Or, uh, no laying up.com forward slash joined. Uh, if you want to get involved there,
we got some great stuff going on with events. It's major season and it qualifying going on. And then
roost, uh, some roost regionals sounds like a big upset up in the Northeast with Boston.
Massive upset. The electric factory in Philly. So it sounds like Boston punched a ticket to the
Roost Club Championship, which is interesting. So shout out to those guys.
North Carolina took down the Queen City Hive. Randy, I think you'll be thrilled to hear that.
I do like that. And I know my Denver boys, the Denver, I believe, punched a ticket.
Rocky Mountain Rollers punched a ticket.
I think that the NorCal squad punched their ticket out west.
The Canadians up in Vancouver.
I think they they're heading back to the Roost Club championship.
So a lot of good stuff going on there.
You can learn more about our events, events.no,ayingup.com with the schedule and some stuff upcoming. And if you
want to get involved for Roost, there's a whole reach around schedule. They're all just
playing golf all fall, so you can get involved at any time. Yeah. And then we got, I think
an interesting pod coming up this week, just the business of the PGA tour. I know Sal has
been working hard on that.
So yeah, we gave him the night off tonight
because he's been in the lab making some content.
The Seamsters are back on the trap draw this week
with a trade deadline recap.
Randy, tell us more.
Well, just listen, it'll be a fun one.
We'll go over the trade deadline.
We haven't recorded it yet, Neil.
Not a lot to tell you.
And then of course the Pro Shop is humming.
We got new stuff dropping like every couple weeks
from now through Christmas,
but we just brought in some new Angus and Grace,
custom mock turtlenecks, mock necks,
and some nice pocket polos.
So-
Fresh from Australia.
Small batch from our friends down under.
We are going to bring the golf daddy hats back.
They're not back yet, but they're they are on a boat coming our way.
I've got some new foot joy stuff.
And yeah, I really like the code.
He's wearing one of the new hats.
It looks like kind of some summer, summer beach kind of thing.
Yeah, kind of some late summer.
Yeah, I really I've been rocking my khaki one all the time.
Just really bust out the Tanama look.
So store.nolayingup.com.
Listen, check us out.
We're a small shop.
We appreciate the support.
Gentlemen, that's all I got.
And listen, we got a sprint coming up.
I know we're on the 70 bubble watch this week at Windom.
We've got the women's portion of the Olympics starts Wednesday. So it's
Wednesday through Saturday for everybody who's interested there. Here are the current odds,
obviously, thanks to our partner at FanDuel Sportsbook, obviously there's a change. Nelly
Korda plus 470. I think that makes a lot of sense. Satya Titical plus 900. Lily Vu plus
900. Then they kind of fill in up to, up till plus 2000 big, any changes,
things you do you see here?
Rose Zang is a hot name just cause she's played leg off
national before in competition.
So she's plus 1800.
Um, really good strokes gained on the year on the LPGA tour.
She might be worth a flyer.
Celine Boudier maybe gets the bump.
She's plus 2200.
I think it'll be a great competition.
Um, Lydia Co is the only woman to have two medals in women's golf competition.
She's plus 3,400.
So Cody, correct me if I'm wrong, big stretch here coming up on the women's side.
We're going to have an LPGA podcast the week following the Olympics.
And then we're of course onto the old course for the women's open.
So we'll be doing live shows and preview and all that fun stuff. Yep.
Pumped a couple more weeks, man.
Then we're out of this horrible weather that I have here.
Get a takeoff to Scotland for, I don't know, nine, 10 days.
I'm excited guys.
We're almost to September.
Yeah, that's a big week.
TC and I are going to BMW championship.
You guys are across the pond.
A lot coming up.
I'm going to watch the Olympics.
I'm picking up what you're putting down on Rose and Celine.
I think it's going to be, I mean, it's all dependent upon how they set up the course. Right? But I think it should be a precision player's dream.
I think so too.
I think so too, TC.
All right, well, we'll be back next Sunday
to talk about that and Wyndham.
Thank you to High Noon.
Thank you to Titleist.
Thank you to Pinehurst.
And thank you to the 1,466 people listening live.
We appreciate you as well.
Cheers.
Bangalang!
