Be the right club. Be the right club today.
Johnny, that's better than most.
How about the end? That is better than most.
Better than most!
Expect anything different? Better than most.
Expect anything different.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the No Linger podcast. My name is DJ and I'm positively giddy for this episode today.
This is one that's been in the hopper for months.
We've been working on it for feels like a really long time.
I can't wait to get into it.
Joining me today.
We've got my guy, Sali.
Sali, hello, how are you?
I am excellent.
I'm nervous.
Like I'm terrified about how this is all gonna play out.
I've no idea.
I think my collection is either gonna be the best
or the worst.
I don't think it'll be anywhere in between.
I love that.
That's a great North Star.
TC, speaking of just collectors,
we've got TC here as well.
Greetings.
Yeah, greetings. Guys, I have an admission. This was my first ever time using
eBay. It never once bought anything off. Wow. God. Well, welcome to the, welcome to the
revolution. I reached out to friends in the industry for some insights and you know, we
can talk about the U S postal service a little bit during this as well. And I just want to say I reached out to our friend, Michael Wolf,
and our sometimes conspirator and collaborator, Michael Wolf. And he said that he was on a
quote non-compete consulting agreement for this episode. But none of you have any idea
what what he's talking about.
No, I don't know if he was just messing with me.
I think he was just maybe messing with you. But rounding out today's episode,
we've also got KVV. Greetings, Kev. How are you?
I'm fabulous, Dej. As the elder statesman of the group, I feel like Sean Connery in the
third Indiana Jones. I've been collecting archives all throughout this deep dive and ready to sort of
teach the next generation
about the secrets of the golf mystery, of golf world.
Well, before we get into what we are actually doing today,
you all know Roebuck, best fit, best feel.
It's getting to be St. Patty's season.
We don't think anybody is more ready
for St. Patrick's Day than Roebuck.
Saul, you mentioned this the other day.
They're so good with the greens.
We always go with the blues, but they
got great greens. Gotta have some green in your closet. No
better way to do it. We're coming up to Augusta. It's just
get some of those green hoodies just released their St. Patrick's
Day collection. It's incredible. The designs are so good. Fun
prints, cool stripe combos and your classic solids. They have
it all between Polos, hoodies and Q-zips. No one owns St.
Patrick's Day the way Robach does.
They also restocked recently their Delta pants,
which is some of our favorite pants to wear out on the golf course.
And finally, if you're getting ready for a spring golf trip with your buddies,
let us introduce you to Robach's Sprint Joggers.
TC, these got to be go-to travel pants for you, I would imagine.
I actually, you know, they need to call, first of all, they need a United pant in addition to the Delta
pants. Sprint joggers is interesting.
I didn't put two to sprint joggers.
That's my go to travel piece right now.
I wore them to and from Montana for four segments.
Did you love that?
So it's time to load up on Robac.
Use code NLU on Robac.com for a generous 20% off your first order through the end of this week.
That's spelled Roback, R-H-O-B-A-C-K dot com. 20% off all pants, polos, hoodies and more with code NLU.
Gentlemen, very excited for today's episode.
This came out of a brainstorming session we had a couple months ago. And to give the long and the short of it, I think we all kind of realized there's so much
memorabilia, there's so much shit for sale on the internet from a golf perspective. And we all
thought, what would be better than just taking a set budget and seeing how much of that shit we
can compile using various themes, trying to make each other laugh, maybe getting some cool
stuff. You know, I have no idea what direction you guys took this stuff. So Kev, I'll throw
it to you. What was your, what was your strategy here? What, how did you, how did you kind
of approach this thing?
Dej, I just wanted to find as much dumb shit as I possibly could. I, when I heard that
some other people may be taking this more serious, getting some real memorabilia items,
I decided to just lean the other way and get as, as kind of as ridiculous as I
could. So I hope that that shines through. I'm excited to stick these on my wall in the
back. You know, I don't have quite the, I haven't been doing this podcasting gig for
as long as you guys have. So I don't, I only have like a, some art on the walls, but my,
my number one kind of like excited thing about this is be able to just add more shit into my
background.
Solid TC you guys take it in a similar direction. What was
your, what was your strategy?
Definitely. I was going for dumb and funny and I positive I
accomplished half of that. I don't know about is definitely
one of those. I don't know if it's both. One of you said that
once well, something that you guys sent through that you didn't get, but one of you. I don't know if it's both. One of you said, I won't spoil something
that you guys sent through that you didn't get,
but one of you sent through something very cool
that you didn't get, and I was like,
oh, are they trying to get like cool stuff?
Because none of mine is like actual keepsake
that you would ever actually want, and that is sweet.
I might need to reconsider how we're doing this,
but you know, we each had a different approach to this,
I think.
I would say mine's kind of a mix.
There's certainly some
Exceptionally dumb shit in there, but there's also I find myself
Taken a little bit by some of the the like I think I'm an actual enthusiast
Yeah
a couple of things that I've gotten and I want to keep
Accumulating these things like I may have to buy them up before this this this episode drops next week with with my personal funds
to buy them up before this episode drops next week with my personal funds. So there's some flourishes on that front.
You can kind of run the market on this before, you know, the gap between recording and publishing.
You got a little bit of insider trading going.
But you know, there's some stuff that kind of blends some of my different interests as
well.
So are any of you guys like collectors, like proper collectors of anything?
I, you know, I have, I have records.
I've got, you've got a couple of,
I like to get coffee mugs.
Golf pencils.
That's a good one.
That's a good one.
I wish I had my flag collection.
Yeah, of course.
Definitely wish I'd have done something consistent
through all of our travels to have it all documented,
but I certainly have not.
All right, well, should we get into it then?
I think, you know, first and foremost,
before we get into our collections,
a couple of orders of business.
One, I think once we get done with this,
we're gonna publish a graphic or just kind of a nice list
of what everybody's stuff is.
I would love to open it up to kind of a fan vote.
You tell us who won this one,
because I would love to do about 150 more of these episodes and I think we need to start keeping some detailed records of
who's winning. So that's first. And second, I want to start at the end a little bit where like I know there's a lot of stuff
we couldn't get. And Kev, I want to lay out the ground rules first. Oh, yeah, sorry. Of course.
Each person had $200 to spend. You could spend that in whatever
way you wanted. If you wanted to. Include shipping. That does include shipping.
And tax, tariffs, any kind of import, export fees that are associated. But if you listen,
if you live down the street from a major champion, you want to go try to offer them 10 bucks
for their trophy, certainly within your right. Uh, but it's,
it's kind of about your negotiation skills, your research skills. I, mine,
I didn't have very much of either of those. I got all my stuff off eBay. I'll,
just, I'll tell you guys, did anybody else get,
get real clever with, with how you actually found stuff?
I tried to at first and then I was like,
I don't have the bandwidth for this right now. I'm gonna, I'm gonna get on eBay.
Like you get sucked in, you go down the wormhole. And I mean, I bet, I bet my search history,
it looks like, what do you do? It was like Saturday. What are you doing? You've been
in law. You have like, it was really bad for my tabs. That was what it was. I had like 150 tabs
open at one time. And emails, right? The emails from
eBay are just as soon as you buy one item or even look at an item from eBay, you are
going to get 50 emails being like, are you sure? Yeah. Would you like to $2 off this?
God, that's my favorite. You throw a throw a like on something that costs $25 and immediately
just get the email. Yo, I'll sell a tee for 13, man. Like, come on, this thing's been for sale for 16 years.
Just please, will you please take it?
One thing, Dej, I was kind of disappointed
is a lot of the auction houses are like out of season.
You know, usually they're, I guess, you know,
maybe summer's a bigger time for them.
So there are items out there
that we probably could have bid on,
but just they're not open for bidding at the moment.
So now, year two, we're gonna have to have this be like a,
you know, year long search, have this be like a year long
search as opposed to like a two month search. Yeah. Ryan Carey, who runs Golden Age Auctions,
he's a friend of mine from one of them Boston. And I reached out to him and he was like, oh my
God, this gets me so pumped. I would love to, and then I like didn't press and then I, you know,
I was busy. And then I think same thing. They just don't have a whole lot of auctions going right now.
And a lot of their stuff is higher dollar.
A lot of theirs has a lot more zeros in it than the $200 budget.
But, uh, Kev, I want to throw it to you first.
Uh, so this is like, you know, I don't think we'd need to have any
delusions that any of this was going to fit in the $200 budget.
Just some stuff you came across that you're like, man, I wish I could have got this. Let's, let's start with you, Kev.
Well, so I will say I did bid on one item and the person sent it to the wrong address. And then
that person sent it back to the other guy. And he was trying to, I just wasn't going to get here in
time. That was, I was a money clip that Doug Sanders had used at the 1971 Kemper open, which I
was super excited about to make like my permanent clip. Yeah. I don't have a clip of that, but
I will say this item, which I have actually shown, I could not resist showing it to Deidre
and Sally, but is it is the ultimate thing. I would love to hang on my wall. It is a painting of tiger woods having dinner with the Mona Lisa. As you can
see $30,000 a bit over my $200 budget, but man, what a work of art. That would be someone
painstakingly put that together, a limited edition signed and numbered.
I assume then they were making some copies of it. The estimate value is 75 to a hundred
thousand dollars. So if I was willing to go over, you know, my budget by, you know, 28,000
pounds, you know, I would have to excuse me, 29,000 pounds and 800, you know, shillings,
whatever the fuck I would have been able
to get this and then maybe flipped it after this podcast for a big profit. But I just
really wasn't able to go there. But I only have two items in this category.
One thing I think this was the, the actual artists that did the Frank Lick lighter.
Oh, it might be very wellpiece. It very well might be.
I was going to say, I was going to ask at one point, if there was any, if you
could buy an item and sell it for more profit, if that could go back into your
budget for this thing, but why are you trying to do all these fucking credit?
I'm trying to do a deal, man.
The whole thing was like, you get 200 bucks.
He's like, what if I, what if I loan something from somebody?
You're like talking to Jim Fierich about, we'll get there.
Like, I'm just gonna try to do a rug pull of some kind or just initial investors with
the fucking, but a couple of things I just love about this is the cat.
Let me just say real quick, that like, uh, if you're not watching this on YouTube, this
might be the ultimate episode to watch on YouTube. Cause we're going to have lots of
photos and clips and stuff of, of all of this.. So knowing a pod or NLU podcast on YouTube, if you want to see the visual
of this, because this is a good one to see. I don't know what kind of wine they're drinking
TC. It looks like sort of kind of buttery shard or something. Maybe kind of golden straw
color. Yeah. I do like that the cat wore his hat to dinner. You know, just wanted to make
sure that he felt comfortable. And the Mona Lisa, you know, she's leaning in a little bit. She's kind of, she wants to,
she heard maybe that, that the cat is a single and you know, just wants to sort of find out
what that's all about. So if someone else, if someone has this picture, please, or if
they could even just send me like a knockoff copy, I would proudly, proudly hang this in the background of my podcast.
It looks like the watermark is from Mr. Jerusalem. Is that what
that says?
Could be. Yeah. Yeah. So if anyone knows Mr. Jerusalem or
any of his associates, I would say please reach out.
Reach out to my associates.
Yeah.
Senior Jerusalem.
My one other item that I wanted, but it turns out maybe not for
sale, just more of like a personal art piece here. There's a, there's a lady on Etsy who makes like bento box art.
And so if Cody can pull this next picture up, it is a picture of a bento box of tiger
woods.
She reminded me of the white, white Mike Vick picture for me. It's been the magazine many
years ago. Just really love the attention to detail here. If you can't see this on the
podcast, we'll try to describe it to you as a, is a white rice bento box with a tiger.
He's got the black neck.
This is on the white rice there. I think it looks like a Mr. Potato Head thing.
Yeah, we there's no, no black face was attempted here with the picture of the cat, but you
know, the very, very intense looking cat in this bento sushi box.
Like the Chappelle show.
So I would love to have that one.
Wasn't sure even if I could buy that or if it would hold up, you know, it probably get a little
tough. So didn't want to hold that up. But yeah, those are my two wish I could have had those for the contest.
That's that's phenomenal. So I will throw it to you next.
The dumbest item that I went for that I did not get. So a weird angle I took on this thing was like
either obscure golf events or like golf events that like didn't happen from whatever reason.
And I was able to procure some stuff along those lines. But the number one item, and
I just couldn't justify the budget was a 2022 Trump Bedminster PGA hat that was available on eBay, but it was $54. And I,
that's a chunk. It was going to be way too much of my, of my budget, but I, I haggled
with this guy. I, at one point I even debased myself. Just be like, yo, I'm a huge DT fan.
Like I just really, I got him down to $34, but I couldn't justify the spend with how the rest of my things shook
out. I also got deep into Oakmont 1994 trying to get something from TC's Guys Day, June
17, 1994. They had all these parking passes available, but the parking pass for the day
of that Friday that the documentary was made about, and of course the OJ chase, it was a parking pass for the day of that Friday, that the documentary was made about. And of course the OJ chase,
it was like $374 for that one.
So didn't-
Sorry, I've got a 94 US open round, let's see,
Friday gallery pass.
It was 79.99 plus, and I thought long and hard about it.
I saw that one as well.
We might have been doing it together.
Yeah, you might've had a competitor inside the chat here.
I have a feeling.
I had a T-shirt that I kind of, you know,
looking at some items that I got,
I should have just gone for this one,
but I almost got the original Golf But Louder shirt
from the actual first London one,
from the very first Live Golf event.
The Live stuff is so expensive. So expensive. It is. the actual first London one from the very first live golf event.
It's so expensive.
So expensive.
It is.
CC, I have so many regrets.
Remember when I went to the first live event in London,
and you were like, please pick me out every like merch item
you can.
I want one hat from every team.
When I went there, they were like half of them were like,
most of them are gone.
And I was like, I'm not shelling out.
I don't work for no laying up yet.
I'm not shelling out $300 in hats.
I don't know if TC is good for this.
You could be a millionaire right now.
Could be. Yeah. God, it's all I was busy trying to get me to invest in Bitcoin too. I should
have done that too at the time.
I don't even know if I put bids in on this, but they show up in my offer expired stuff
in there, but I almost bought PJ Tour range balls from the Doral rider open in 1988.
There was actual range balls for sale.
There was also a Doral rider open pocket knife that I did not end up procuring.
But that's kind of that's like the path I was on for a lot of my searching.
I love it.
TC, what was on the almost list for you?
Oh, my gosh.
Yeah.
So I just sent this to code. I don't know if he can pull this one up, but there's a,
there's a sealed box of 100 tickets from the 2016 PGA championship out there.
Very important that it's sealed.
I thought about, you know, they've got PayPal credit too. Could I,
could I get this, you know, they've got PayPal credit too. Could I, could I get
this past you guys?
Take it off of the next draft.
But it's, I mean, it's just like a sealed box of these things. I'm like, man, like that
makes you think did they actually hold that tournament?
Interesting.
Right. So otherwise, like I went through a lot of like Nick Fowl, like those Nick Faldo
sweaters.
Yeah.
There's so many cool ones. Geometric George cool sweaters
that and then there's so much cool like old titleist, like
merch and USGA stuff like Cypress point stuff and old
Walker cup stuff. But my highlights were this Paul
Goido's Keith Clearwater, Charlie Reimer signed photo.
It was going to be like $69. And I just can't, I couldn't stomach that. There was a 1998
Hush Y'all paddle from the Bell South Classic. That was the first time I ever saw Tiger Woods
in person. And I was at that event. I think he won that year, but that was going to be
125 bucks. So that was going to blow out the budget. These Campbell's soup plush head covers.
I may still buy these just for my personal collection. Roger called me a soup guy. Again, there's, you know, there's Andy Warhol of UTC. There's
a sign or there's a vintage picture of OJ and, and Arnold Palmer here. There's various United
Airlines ads. There's some of these golf photos from like the early nineties, uh, from the, uh,
Hawaiian open with just some absolute characters on them.
And then you'll notice this is a theme, but these decanters, uh,
I've become like a, I think I'm an actual collector of these things.
Now the canter, so the one with like the naked Hawaiian guy with the,
with the mustache, um, there is, is fantastic.
Uh, and then there's a, there's a hat down here. The friends of Tom Fazio, invitational golf tournament. You got outbid on that one.
Jesus. A lot of directions we could have gone. That's good stuff. TC on my list. I had just a couple of
things again, kind of the mix of like, well, that's actually really cool and some truly
outrageous stuff. But the first one was I couldn't believe the price because it's clearly has been
for sale forever. And it's listed for $750 thing. I think that's a pretty good thing. I think that's a pretty good thing. I think that's a pretty good thing.
I think that's a pretty good thing.
I think that's a pretty good thing.
I think that's a pretty good thing.
I think that's a pretty good thing.
I think that's a pretty good thing.
I think that's a pretty good thing. I think that's a pretty like that. That's, that's pretty one of one type of thing. But again, $750 was not quite in my budget.
TC, you mentioned, uh, our guy Ryan at golden age auctions.
I just want to shout him out for, uh, doing a deal on the tiger slam irons.
I don't know if you guys saw this, uh, the actual irons that tiger used during the
tiger slam, uh, sold for $5.1 million. That was out of budget, but that was one of those like, oh, wow.
OK, there's I think there's another level to this type of stuff
in the more digital realm.
Really considered buying one of Bryson's NFTs,
which would have would have kind of like taken.
It would have taken some account creation and like really trying to figure that out.
I had to do all these conversions on like what the cheapest one actually sold for. I think it was like it was like 3100
bucks or something. Cost basis stuff. Exactly. Exactly. I think like $3100 was the cheapest.
Did they ever get to Phil's $100 billion number? I think there's still numbers coming in and
I think they're still tabulating some of that stuff. It could take years to actually get
your arms around all that. In the interest of not getting sued, it was 20 billion. Just to thank you.
Well, now, but with inflation and stuff.
That's true.
Well, and we talked about on Sunday, they wound the program down. They sunset the program.
That's right. Which I got to think just makes the value go up even higher.
It's a finite, scarce object.
Exactly. This one was just dumb. I don't know why I came across this,
but there was this Munsing where golf shirt
with the Napster logo on it.
I just really liked that.
That was like 150 bucks though.
So that was, that was kind of out.
And then the last.
A hundred bucks is cool.
You know, it'd be cooler.
A hundred billion dollars.
Exactly right.
That's Sean Parker. The last, or, you know, be cooler. $150 million. That's exactly right. That's Sean Parker.
The last, you know, kind of winding down.
This is not something I wanted, but I just kept,
I kept realizing and saw you, you, you, you know, you forwarded the email from
our friends at Dong Tease yesterday.
I just like, I was struck by just like how much awful,
awful shit is out there in the golf space.
And so these were like stencils, you know, to like mark your ball with just a bunch of
like sex positions.
And this was like, again, just like, imagine, imagine rolling up and just like, you know,
hey, is that, is that my ball?
The left rough is like, oh yeah, there's a guy getting like a hummer on, on the side
of his net. I think that, yeah, that's me for sure.
I'm really more of a flying Lotus guy. Yeah. Yeah.
So I don't know.
Imagine call for provisional. Yeah. The first one
the second one is my wife doing the wheelbarrow.
So yeah, I don't remember what the price was on this. I think these are still available for those that are interested.
But again, just kind of like for all the time we could spend on like, you know, width and
angles in this bunker and this, you know, I can't get down with this.
Catch basin or whatever.
Whiffing angles.
This is how a big majority of the world interacts with the game of golf here.
What if a guy was just nailing someone on the side of my golf ball?
That would be bad.
Oh, that's good.
And then the last thing, I mentioned this before we came on air, but I got absolutely
dicked down by one of my sellers. I put a I'm speaking show to these stencils. I put a bid on something like like, you know, like
three weeks or a month beforehand. I was like, I didn't hear anything back. So I assumed
it was out. And so I bought a bunch of other stuff. And then my offer got accepted. And
he's like, and I wasn't I was traveling or something. He's like, Oh, yeah, great. I put
it in the mail. So then I went way over budget.
So then there was like stuff I had to take out of my, my lot.
One of them, I mentioned being a big coffee mug guy, I found this,
this Budweiser it's like a, it's a golf bag, like a leather golf bag,
but it's also a coffee mug. And it's just kind of one of those, like, uh, I don't
know, I don't know why this would have ever been made, but, uh, and why is it not
a beer Stein, but it's just kind of a, you know, one that I'll, I don't know, I don't know why this would have ever been made, but, and why is it not a beer Stein, but it's just kind of a, you know,
one that I'll have a morning coffee in every now and again.

Okay, well, that's the almost that's the almost purchased the
file tips. Kev, I'll throw it back to you for you know, top of
the order. I think we'll go one by one here, rather than going
through the whole collection, Cody, as long as that works for
you. So Kev, why don't you why don't you lead it off with the first item?
Anything you want to say about your collection at large, any themes we should be
appreciating, anything like that.
I don't know about themes. I just, you know, kind of, just a little bit, the more
silly, the more absurd, the more I was sort of drawn to it.
My first pick is a little bit of a sentimental pick. My father was,
I've told you, DGT series and it was a big Trevino guy. Never really was Jack Nicklaus
guy and around Palmer guy, but Trevino spoke to him on some level, you know, kind of working
class dude. And I, this is a little bit before your time's big Nintendo player growing up as you know, I'm pre Sega Genesis, pre, you know,
Xbox stuff. This is a true like NES, Nintendo stuff. And so I remember playing this as a
kid and was like, I've got to have this. It is the NES copy of Lee Trevino's fighting
golf only like $8. And I was like, I have got to have a copy of this incredible like
graphics, incredible stuff going forward to true like design geniuses and coming to this
game is to see here you that's that's Lee there 1988 was the one that this came out.
You could choose between four characters as we'll see in the
next slide. Pretty Amy, big jumbo, of course the super mechs and I never do like miracle
just, okay. I assume, you know, some sort of a foreign influence there TC. But just,
you know, of course I was going to play with, with the super max. Uh, and
as you can see in the next couple of slides here, I think I saw a big jumbo on those stencils
that T's DJ threw up there. He was landing his name to everything back then. As you can
see, just incredible design work here. You get the, the original like overhead shot here,
the, the fairway that weaves, the bunkers are actually like disconnected from the fairway
there. This looks like the bowling brook.
Honestly, this isn't that far off from some of the Nicholas design stuff.
It's true.
I had the little power up button that of course you had to click and then the classic Nintendo
that the sound when you went ripping at this is of course super max himself here with the
hat cocked high on his head. Love the white pants. Look, just, I remember many hours like goofing
around on this game and just absolutely like probably develop some of my love for golf.
This was a classic design. I felt it. This is kind of a tribute to the spear almost here.
You got to carry the water and then land it short of the fairway and then go over the next thing to get the green here. I do not have a Nintendo
NES thing that I could play this to see if this still fires up and works, but I will
play it in my mind forever.
I love it. What a beautiful, you know, just physical media, man. You know, it just looks
good on the shelf at this point, right?
Absolutely. I used to have like a USB that you could go and play literally every super like Nintendo game on, on your computer.
And it was like back in 2010, I pro I don't know where I have no idea what would
have ever happened with that, but there's gotta be somewhere online.
You can go play like a Nintendo games.
I know who would know about that is our gaming correspondent, Jordan Perez.
She's a very dialed into this world still.
And which she might even have an NDS.
She might. That's going to have to
check that out and see. All right, sorry, throw it, throw it to you. You're your first
piece. I went a little sentimental as well. Not quite as cheesy as Kev, but going back
to my original golf days of it, the country club that I worked at, you could walk into the pro shop. I don't know if this was
everywhere. But like they had the title is like golf ball
selector tool. I don't know if you guys ever use like the
electronic version of Okay, I didn't know if that was was
everywhere or this like very, very not exclusive country club.
And I always pressed it and you know, all I cared about back in
that day, like a lot of junior golfers was backspin.
All I wanted to do was backspin and there's no chance this was actually the right ball
fit for me.
Were you a Tour Prestige guy?
I felt like I should have a sleeve of Tour Prestige golf balls.
Hell yeah.
And so I bought this, the price on this item was $2,109, which may sound like a lot,
but the suggested retail price on it was 1350 on the bottom.
And with inflation, that's like $26 today.
So in reality, this is like,
I basically made five bucks buying this thing.
So I'm gonna keep these on the shelf here behind me forever
as old memories of maybe they lasted one hole.
Like they truly just like split in half after like three holes.
I think you need to take these out to McQuana and see like just
sure just hammer one down there.
So this is not part of our thing, but I can't remember who gave me these or
whatever clades gave me some, but I think they were max flies, but these are
pro trajectory nineties.
And then they also say small on there,
one point six two diameter.
Small.
I've got two sleeves of them.
So we may have to bust some out.
You should play a map.
At some point.
God, that'd be fun.
You should, yeah.
TC, what do you got for your first one?
Yeah, we'll start off.
This was just a very easy way to kind of ease my way in,
but on the nostalgia and kind of, you know,
kind of hitting you way in, but on the nostalgia and kind of, you know, hit you in kind of,
kind of hitting you in the feels here. I bought this ad on here, very cheap. It was like nine bucks.
I thought you meant like you put an ad in the paper. I bought this ad of,
Brian Roberts, please resign. United Airlines ad. It's all these kangaroos on the. Oh, hell yeah.
And it's basically celebrating down under par, the hazards of business abroad are unique
to each country and the seasoned traveler must find a way around them.
But when you fly United to the South Pacific, a smooth trip all the way is one thing you
can take for granted.
You'll enjoy great food, great drink and friendly sky service, the best in international travel.
United to Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland too.
It'll leave you relaxed and ready for just about anything. And it just brought me back to our
initial flight down. That was the first United flight I ever took in my entire life was the flight
or the flights down to Melbourne. The first time we went down for Taurusauce and what was that 2017 or 2018.
So brought me back to that. I'm going to frame this and, and, uh, it just looks like, I don't
know why it just reminds me of like, yeah, that last day at, uh, at a Metro. I was in
degrees just like, looks very similar to me for some reason. I've just looked at that
footage so much, but high socks and shorts. God,'s great what a good find and this
reminds me of United not getting us to our final destination on the way back
from Australia but age brings up different memories for all of us all
right I will go I will go next this is you know again I mentioned it with the
Budweiser thing this one's not you know it's just an easy easy in handshake
opener I mentioned I love I love collecting coffee mugs I love each day is a little bit of a thrill. Just like, what should I go with today?
And Kev, just to celebrate your lifetime, your body of work.
I found this this Gary player coffee mug that I think is just dope.
I'm like, this is so good. It's like it's kind of funny.
It's going to give me a chuckle. But also it's just a, it's like great weight, great size photos of Gary throughout his
career. Like the, the one on the right with like the,
the tan pants and the, and the red kind of whatever that is,
like the tamo Shantor hat or whatever. Like it's just, it's a, it's great.
I love this one. It's, it's not much of a thinker, but it's just kind of a,
uh, it's going to enrich, enrich my life. So, uh, they don't,
they don't make shit like this anymore. Right. Right.
Or if they do, it's just like a joke, you know? Uh, this was $16,
money well spent. Oh yeah. Yeah. Uh, Kev, Kev,
you're your next one. Okay. Uh, this one, uh,
was a bit of a, uh, a wild card here, but, uh, I decided, uh,
once as soon as I saw this, I was like,
I've got to have this. This is, this is a great, this is going on my wall. It is a,
an ashtray that is shaped like a sombrero from the 1979 rotary club council golf exhibition
for Easter seals to raise money for Easter seals.
It is engraved with the names of Betsy King, Lee Trevino, and Dave Mar. You can, you know, there is a cigarette holder in this. I put
a cigar in there just to sort of show how, you know, you could, but my wife wanted me
to say that she said it was okay. If I said it was clearly styled in the, in a sombrero
style, she's Mexican-American. So I was like, all right, I'm loving this.
This is, we are legitimately gonna put this
on our coffee table.
Just for, you know, not smokers, never have been.
But you know what, like anytime you can shout out
the Easter Seals, folks, you gotta have a fucking
really good ashtray like this.
God, that's really good stuff.
I'm trying to find where this thing was. Looks like maybe- God, that's really good stuff. I'm trying to, I'm trying to find where this,
where this thing was. Looks like maybe, yeah, I could not find it. I tried to dig in it too. It's got like really cool. Like you can't really see it, but it's got like kind of deeper engraving in it,
whether it's like a, you know, a Palm tree or a picture of the, uh, you know, some sort of
fundraising thing, but like, you know, Dave Mar, Betsy, Kane, Lee Trino, that's, that's some hitters only there. No.
So I hope they raised as much money to fight polio or whatever.
I love it. Shout out to Easterseals.
Justine and I have volunteered with Easterseals a couple of times. They're great.
Stolle, what do you got?
You know, I'm not a big collector Deeds,
but I think if there was something that I've done somewhat consistently over my life is souvenir cups. You know, I'm not a big collector, Dej, but I think if there was something that I've done somewhat consistently over
my life is souvenir cups. You know, from I've still got a
West Virginia Sugar Bowl, the Sugar Bowl that you and I went
to TC back in 2006, where they whooped up on Georgia. And
there's been several golf events that I have a lot of affinity
for, but a special affinity for due to the like a lot of the
deep dive stuff that we've done KVV. But there's a lot of affinity for, but a special affinity for due to the like a lot of the deep dive
stuff that we've done KVV, but there's a few of these are going to go on the same collection.
But first one, I got a souvenir cup from the 1991 Ryder Cup at Kewa Island. That is, you know,
this, a lot of these beers were drank during the course of this. And as well, I got, I wanted a 1997 Masters Cup
and there was two available options on there and the cheaper option also included the 98
Masters as well. So like I'm not that big of a Marco Mirafit.
That was the first year I attended.
Of course. Maybe I'll give this one to you then TC. You know, not that I'm, you know,
not a massive Marco Mirafit fan, but just the fact that I got 97 Masters and
a Kia one, these are going to go up on the back.
That's a nice cup, Chris.
Chris, that's fun.
Those look really small.
Hold that up again.
I mean, the Masters cups are small.
The Masters ones.
Yeah, they're on the small end.
They're almost like little coffee cups.
Stingy Augusta.
No wonder they're so cheap.
You can fill that up with some... They wanted you to drink beers in that Ryder Cup, you know, with the planes flying over.
This actually came with a camo hat as well. I couldn't find the camo hat.
How much was the 97 Masters one?
So the 97 Masters Cup combo was $22.83 and then the 91...
What a steal.
I know. 91 Ryder Cup was $14.88. So the combined, that was $ 91. I know 91 rider cup was 1488. So the
combined that was 3771 in that section.
Underpriced. That's good stuff. Yeah. TC you're up.
Which direction we want to go here. You know, we're gonna,
we're just get it out there right now. You guys know how much
he means to me. This is just just up the road of it's Sea Island.
Few of these floating around. This is a game worn Zach Johnson polo shirt.
We've got the, we've got the,
trade war.
The Egon thing here.
We got the RSM logo, net jets on the collar.
Uh, it's a small, small cause you, uh, so I think I can wear this thing. I'm really, really excited about it. And, uh, it just,
it just brings me close to my guys, EJ, the capital.
We need to make sure we get you some wraparound sunglasses if you're going to
wear that.
There was a trans America, like, like a, high brim or high crown trans America hat
as well, but that was going to break the budget. So I had to kind of zero in on this thing,
but there's four or five more of these available for sale on eBay.
What did they get you for this one?
This was pretty affordable. Actually, this was $37 and 52 cents from Debbie 100.
What a steal. I know TC there's a day, I don't know when it's going to happen. This is a
bit of a Shawshank redemption. You know, I know this is in our future sometime where
we're going to rent the pontoon boat and go to the John Deere classic. I know it's going
to happen. And I just, you know, I look forward to the day where we sit there having some cold
beers where you're wearing your trans America RSM shirt. That's, that's going to
be really good stuff.
I tried to find some, some great John Deere classic stuff, but it was kind of fleeting.
I tried to find the shell casing from the cannon that was, that was shot off on that
band on Tupo, but I couldn't find it.
If you have that, please, please reach out to Sally.
I looked to see just if there was any, I don't want to step on anybody if you, if you did
this, but any like bootleg, no laying up stuff on, on eBay. And I ended up finding what was
clearly some of Justin Lauer's former no leg up, like, you know, embroidered like game
worn PJ tour polos. I think they might've been going for more than the CJ thing, but
I don't know how those fell into nefarious hands, but shout out to whoever
that was.
I will go next, sticking with one of my PJ Tour heroes as well, TC.
I think you guys are going to remember this photo when it popped up.
I think it was originally, I think it was Golf Digest or something.
It must have been after 2014 Ryder Cup when our guy was first glossed,
Captain America, Patrick Reed,
you remember the photo of him kind of, you know,
standing in that with that sunset behind him,
holding the flag.
This was signed by Patrick Reed.
It just had, it like the little chicken scratch handwriting.
You can see that he wrote Captain America on it.
And it just, I don't know, it really tickled me. It made me, made
me pretty happy to see, it's just, it's, there's something very strange about, I know this
is why autographs are a thing, but it's way more fun to see them like write something
else, you know, like that's not a signature. It's just, it's just very funny to me to see,
see Patrick Reed's handwriting saying Captain America right there.
So I want to know everything about this photo shoot.
Was Justine there picking out the outfit?
Did they hand pick the photographer?
Where did they go to shoot this?
We're like, oh, let's do the Ima Jima pose
with the lifting the flag.
Is that plus the Washington crossing the Delaware?
Yeah, I think that's right.
Which is very much in the vein of the Delacroix French Revolution painting. Yeah. I think that's very much in the, in the vein of like the, uh, Delacroix, you know,
French revolution painting. Yeah. In reality, these are obviously just like green screen
and some like strip mall in Dallas somewhere probably, or Houston, I should say. But, uh,
yeah, it's, it's good stuff. It's going to hang on my wall proudly. How much was this?
Oh, good. This was 35. Cool. Wow.
So yeah, I mean, it was an investment, but I think it, I think it'll pay off.
Kev, what do you got?
I can honestly say, I think this is probably my favorite item that I got, uh, presenting
it in this order.
Cause I have some ones that I think are maybe a little funnier, a little better, but this
is truly like a genuine, like I want to have this around forever.
Uh, it is a action figure of Arnold Palmer.
Oh my God. I don't know if you guys remember starting lineups. It's, it is so sick. It
is like, it's taller than any Barbie as one would think, because this is the kind of man
who would take a Barbie home and, you know, make a, make a lady out of her. It is, it
is the sweatering. Yes, exactly.
It's, you know, it's got a real golf club, you know, in his hand here, these holding,
it's the pants are a great fit. We, and the shoes, I mean, you just can't even like talk
about how great the shoes are. Look at that. Look at how this looks. The motherfucker looks
absolutely nothing like art of pulver. It looks like Frank Sinatra.
This is a true like, you know, win a golf tournament, steal your girl, like leave town,
uh, it'd be promised to be back next year. Uh, kind of situation. I just, I love this
guy. He is, he is a true, the detailing for a starting lineup thing. They must have mass
produce like, you know, hundreds of these, these. And I'm glad they picked like the most handsome version
of Arnie, you know, instead of the older, like handsome grandpa that he was, which is
kind of my favorite Arnie's handsome grandpa. But like this guy, like he's, he's Americana
like delivered. That's so gripping the club left-handed. Yes. He is the, the clubs are
hands are weirdly backwards. So they, the other, the hand feels like ripping the club left handed. Yes, he is. The clubs are, hands are weirdly backwards.
So the other, the hand does come off the club.
So you could sort of, you know,
we could get him doing the way we're drive pose actually.
I might have to have that kind of just behind me at all times.
What a good find.
That's great.
That's a hell of a piece for a shelf.
Jordan did help me with find this one.
She pointed me in that direction.
So I, Jordan did not sign a non-compete with any of you.
You could have used her for other things, but she's,
she's pretty good at these eBay fines. God, good stuff. So what's, what's next?
Continuing on the theme of, uh,
weird merge from events that did not happen.
I have a 2001 rider cup Cup hat. Of course, famously, it almost looks like there's an asterisk next to it, but there's a little R.
Yeah. And of course did not happen because of 9-11. Now, what I do not know the answer to it, much like the 2020 Ryder Cup that didn't happen.
They'd already made all the merch for that. And so like if you bought something at Whistlin Straits, it says 2020 Ryder Cup, even though it took place in 2021, there might be a ton
of 2001 Ryder Cup merch out there, but there wasn't a ton on eBay. So it felt like a little
bit hard to find, but this cost me $8 and one cent.
No brainer.
Most of it is like on the streets of Kenya or Zimbabwe.
That was, I looked for a like, I tried to find some like, uh, you know, John Vandeveld open champion t-shirts, uh, they
got sent to a third world country, but I couldn't find those either.
God, that's good stuff.
I was looking for some, some stuff from Belri where they're supposed to have the American
express championship.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
Nine 11 TC.
What's, what's next?
Yeah.
This one has not arrived yet, but I do want to keep it in the Sea Island mafia
family.
It's supposed to arrive at 4 PM today so we can lay some pictures in accordingly in the
edit.
This is going to become one of my prized possessions guys.
And this is a Drew Love game used golf ball and autographed. It was $15.05. I was like, you know, one
day this might be worth much more. Well, I don't think we've seen the best of, of, of, of true love.
I do think TC that there's something to be said, you know, kind of what you were saying at the
intro of like absolutely ridiculous things that you actually kind of feel a little bit of affinity for like a whole wall of just signed golf by golf balls signed by like kind of obscure characters is a really good block.
And I think that leads into my next. I'm not really an autograph guy. Right. I like obscure random shit. Well, I think you're going to like this one then. And I was trying, you know, in the spirit of Bob Euker, you know,
don't do my bits, do your own bits. I, this one feels stolen from TC,
but I was looking for some game, some game used, uh, materials myself.
I found a glove, a game used glove. It's very small, very,
very small, a game used foot joy glove, uh,
which is signed by our guy Spencer Levine.
Looks like he wore this glove for like 12 rounds. It looks haggard.
And it was the one that like, you know, the one time like going
through this whole eBay process where I immediately got a note
back from the seller or whatever who was like, oh, man, if you like this one, like I got hundreds of back from, uh, from the seller or whatever, who was like, Oh man,
if you like this one, like I got hundreds of these things, like I'll, I'll just package
them all. I'll package them all together if you want, if you want more. And these are,
so again, I can't, I can't include these in my official submission, but I did also get,
uh, what did I also get? Bovan Pelt as well. Uh, just kind of a funny one. I got the jury. Please disregard
these voting things. Yeah. Just Jerry stepping out for a second. Yeah. Please. Thank you.
I also got James Driscoll T-shirt who I know is another, another one of your protection.
I was going to get Brett wet Rick, but I was like, all right, this is, this is not a good
bit. We're just hemorrhaging money here. So let's let's leave Brett Wetterich off
Yeah, so that was you know, just kind of again kind of a fun little totem to see like
What a game use glove looks like so there you go. Who is next top of the order KVV?
I think so. Yeah, those were the Spencer glove was was $21
By the way, then he sent me the rest for six dollars a piece as you can see but again
Dismiss those budget you're throwing this in here in the in the whole section of the jury has been tainted in all of this
This is I think so that's a trial. I can live with that. All right
so this was the last item that I bought and
Dej, you know you brought up the conversation of do your own bits
Don't do someone else that actually actually happened after I purchased this.
And I really, I was kind of, I was like, man, do I, do I go forward with this?
Is this part of my thing or should I just kind of walk away from this and sit or loss?
I got it at such a good deal that I couldn't resist go ahead and going with it because
most of these items are much more expensive.
If you're looking out in the eBay world and I wanted to as, as I presented, I want, I'm
giving this as a gift to another member of our chat.
TC, I have a signed golf ball of one, Mr. Orenthal James Simpson.
Whoa, it is a, it is a top flight number 32.
Absolutely.
I mean, I don't know about authenticating, but it is clearly the
juices signature. This is coming to UTC as just a thank you for everything that you do
online and offline. And, and, you know, I just really, it's what an honor to hold, you
know, the only man to rush for 2000 yards and 14 games and perhaps murder two people in a brutal violent manner
So this is this hopefully will be have a spot on your wall
Meaningful gift anybody's ever given me
Couple months ago, they put up the like like OJ's debit card and I bid on it and then I got out of control
I think that's where I kind of got this idea. I was like, I've got to get TC either an OJ
rookie card, which doesn't have any golf relics. So this was only, it's price was $50 and I
managed to get the guy down to $34, but then he threw another like $12 at shipping on it.
So it blew the rest of my budget out, but I could not resist giving it to you TC.
So you know what, for that, like you have my vote as like a winner.
What else happens here? Like I was looking for OJ.
OJ played the Pebble beach pro-am back in like 92 or 93.
I was looking for programs of that.
I was anything that I could find from that year. Even the decanter couldn't,
couldn't find anything.
Gosh, that's, that's kind of a showstopper there.
KVV. Oh, you got, you got to follow that one.
I'll bridge that with, I forgot to mention when we starting about, you were
making comments about some haggling I was doing with, uh, with rider cuppers.
Uh, the prize jewel that I really wanted to get was the 2010 rain suit that
had leaks in the back of it.
I contacted every member of the team
whose phone number that I had. I had Hunter Mahan was going to be looking, he was going
to be revisiting his storage unit, but not before the recording of this. It was probably
in there and I was going to buy it off of him for $5 if he was going to give it up.
I also tried to get Jim Furek. He did not know where his was, but he said he does have his original
99 Sunday shirt, the actual shirt that he wore on that day. I said, well, you can't actually
part with that. He's like, no, I couldn't. That's when I asked you guys if I could loan it from him
for a fair price, which you guys shot down as you're adding in all this stuff into your evidence.
He owned the item. That's right.
You're presenting stuff that you don't even count
towards the 200, Dave.
So I'd rather have you get out over your skis
and like have some actual assets, you know,
rather than just kind of theoretical money on a ledger.
I asked for permission.
That was the fault of my own.
I would love to know the mentality of like saving
the rain jacket that leaked all over you
and that they had to like rip off and go buy jackets out
of the merch tent in order to play that afternoon round.
Uh, like, Oh yeah, let's save that.
Let's throw that moldy ass rain jacket in a Tupperware storage bin.
All your, all your memories.
Anyways, along the lines of stuff that doesn't exist anymore.
I got a golf towel here from the Enron core golf league.
I looked for Stanford financial. I couldn't find anything Stanford financial,
but this Enron golf towel again, gonna go in the mountain behind me. And this was one of my, this is a top two purchase of anything that I
had to. Yeah. It's very right. It D E I, even back in the early two thousands.
Oh man. Yeah. Watch this space.
$13 and one cent as well in that one. Oh man.
You got a much better price than I did. Okay. Uh, TC you're next.
Yeah. Uh, listen, we're going to go hat wise.
I didn't get the FAS one. So the,
the friends of Tom Fazio event. So I, I, I went in a similar direction and I got this Reese Jones
incorporated, uh, which I will wear, wear with pride. I think we've called him Uncle Mo before. So, I look forward to wearing that in the future.
That's awesome.
It's legitimately like, I feel like that hat's like, go wear that thing around Bushwick or something.
It's got a really good aesthetic.
Yeah, I think that is back in fashion, man.
Yeah.
You can probably flip that. Wait about six months, you could flip it.
I think that's really good aesthetic. Yeah. That is back in fashion, man.
Yeah. You probably flip that. Wait about six months. You could flip the shit out of that
thing, I think. God, good stuff, TC. My next one, again, not a showstopper. We're kind of in the
fatty middle of my collection here, but I think I was struck by the idea that there are so many golf trading cards out there.
You guys come across like a lot of a lot of trading cards.
Indeed.
And not only trading cards, but rookie cards just like really made me laugh that there was
a lot of rookie cards. So I got this one of our friend, Adam Long, the sign long assigned
Adam Long rookie card. And I just appreciated the letter of authenticity in the back by our
guy Alexander Icons Harvey.
I really enjoyed him just dropping that note there as a, this is authentic, this is real,
this is really from the schlong.
There's no fake schlongs out there trying to impersonate our guy.
He must be. He must be. Yeah, this one definitely came from Canada. So this was $5.08, which
felt fair. I got to reach out to the Shlong and see if he remembers signing this one specifically.
He might have just had him lined up Pete Rose style.
That's right. They might have. Kev, did you reach the end of yours? Did you say?
No, I have two more left. So I'm still willing to do a couple more. So for this next
step item, we're going to go into a little bit of story time here. We're going to combine
scavenger hunt with deep dive discussions here. So I'm going to tell you, do you guys
know the story of Rocky Thompson? No, not even a little bit. Rocky Thompson was a professional
golfer who he was born Hugh Thompson in Shreveport,
Louisiana.
Shout out to our guy, Bunky Perkins.
And then he moved to a small town in Texas where he learned the game well enough.
Was this Titanic Thompson?
Nope, that is not.
He earned a scholarship to the University of Houston.
And as a kid, he really liked the actor, Alan Rocky Lane.
So he decided to just start calling himself Rocky. Rocky was
okay at golf. He used to claim he had the world's best short game and the world's worst long game.
He played on the PGA Tour for 27 years and he made a total of $146,391 before he moved on to the Champions Tour. He was
basically the shortest guy on tour the entire time he never
hit it more than 235 yards off the tee when he was a PGA Tour
player.
Decidedly not Titanic Thompson.
Yeah, he was was a sick tinkerer. Though he loved like
all kinds of different quotes that he loved. He was basically
like the true mule king.
As you might remember in my Calvin Pete podcast, the guys who were not in the top 60 had to
Monday qualify every single week.
There wasn't until the 80s that 125 guys became exempt on tour.
So it was basically like a free for all on Mondays.
60 guys would show up, they have to fight their way through to, you know, to get into thing.
And they were called rabbits. The rabbit, Rocky. Yeah.
Rocky earned the nickname, the rabbit King. He was a true eccentric.
He would like scrape it around as much as anybody would play anywhere,
like in America, Latin America and Asia. He played, he, uh,
he joked that I've played in places where there isn't even a town later in his
career. He changed his fortunes by getting experimental with his driver.
He kept playing a longer and longer driver because he felt he learned he could hit it
further.
At one point, he put a 56 inch driver into play.
I'm not even kidding.
It was like watching someone swing a pole vaulting pole off the tee like those when
Peter Jacobson used to do those bits where you'd have the have the longer longer driver but he picked up 40 yards on it
so he went from hitting it like 230 to on the changes who are hitting it like
275 280 he said everyone ought to have at least a 50 inch driver I can handle a
56 but everyone should at least have a 50 so after 611 starts, uh, never winning, he finally, his first win came at the,
uh, Syracuse senior classic in 1991.
He managed to sort of par the last hole when Jim Dent three putted, uh, and he,
it's a crowd finally erupted in cheers. I'm going to get up and stand up and do
that. He did this, uh, in celebration.
Oh, yes. Yes. Yes. Now I remember that. And then the, as the crowd was, it was cheering for him, he shushed the crowd, made
them stop cheering and then said to dot right now, this minute today, I am the man of course
screamed this out. So he ended up winning three times on the champions
tour during his time on the champions tour. He was also the mayor of a tiny town called
Toco in Texas near the Northeast Texas, Oklahoma border. His dad was the original mayor of the town,
but when his dad died, he was appointed the interim mayor and he kept getting reelected over
and over after they dropped the interim tag.
He said, I got the votes of anyone who voted.
It's kind of neat being mayor, but it's a headache sometimes.
Like when the sewer and the water lines break at the same time, it really makes me look
forward to the golf.
For a time, Thompson would supply every Toko family with a turkey at Thanksgiving.
There was only 138 people who lived in the town.
And when he played a tournament of Hawaii, he would bring back boxes of macadamia nut
chocolates and go around and give them to each person in the town. He even tried to
pioneer a new style of putting where he bent over and had his elbows resting on his knees.
And they sort of swept the ball like it was a croquet mallet. But the USGA told him that it was illegal and he could not do it.
They eventually banned his 56 inch driver too, which was called the killer bee.
In the early days of the golf channel, he used to be one of the first infomercials along
with the guy who had the hammer driver and all that.
This was another part.
He said, every time they show one of those things on the golf channel, I make a lot of
money.
So the real prize here is coming up next.
But I did acquire a Rocky Thompson signed trading card.
Who knew that they had a senior tour pro set trading cards of him.
But as you can see, you know, a very strapping man there.
It says on the back, he was, you know, back he was dubbed the king rabbit or whatever. But
the reason that I got that item was to sort of set up the next thing. It's clear that
at some point someone, one of these autographed hounds was asking, like you used to be able
to mail pros. There's a lot of things on eBay where you can find of like someone asked Byron
Nelson to like sign a program, you know, and you could like find their mailing address and mail it. And they would often like hand
write letters back. And I thought this was fascinating. I couldn't afford any of those
things of like one of the greats of like, and none of them ever seemed all that funny,
but clearly at some point, someone asked Rocky Thompson to like sign a, like a dollar bill
or something. Right. And so instead of signing this dollar bill, Rocky sent back
a note, someone named Mike that said it is against the law to deface us. I choose not
to do it. Signed Rocky. So he just kept the dollar or I think he kept the dollar or maybe
said the dollar back with just with like, I refused to sign this, but
just knowing Rocky Thompson's story, that made me laugh. I think this was about $7 for
this handwritten note from Rocky Thompson, who went 611 consecutive tournaments without
a victory that he choose. I choose not to do it.
A guy that knew the value of a dollar, man. That's right.
How did you discover all this? So I did research after I saw the Rocky
Thompson thing and I was like that seems like a character I need to look into and
dig into. So I did some research on the back end of that but as soon as I
saw that, I don't know if I remembered the video of him doing the hip thrust.
It goes around social media pretty frequently. That's right. I knew I had heard the name
but I couldn't remember who it was.
I am the man.
Yeah. It's worth looking up. It's good stuff. For those listening on the pod who didn't
see the video, KVU was just doing some heavy, heavy thrusting there in the celebration,
looking like one of those golf stencils.
Very much so. Who knew the Golf stencils would keep returning.
I know I kind of threw those guys.
I've got those really play.
I have news on the golf stencil front.
Yeah.
During this podcast, I purchased them.
It was $17 and 99 cents.
Yeah.
I mean, for, for the amount of laughs we've got, I mean, again, just imagine
playing a match against TC and he's rocking up guys.
I will say Rocky Thompson passed away, uh away in, uh, I think 2001.
So it's been, uh, I don't have it in front of me, but, uh, rest in peace,
Rocky Thompson. I'm glad you were not willing to deface you and US currency for
a gag.
I had a free man, you know, is that, is that,
exactly.
I should have messaged the eBay seller. It was like,
why would you think that anyone out here would want this note from Rocky Thompson? Clearly someone did. That someone was me.
I mean, KVV there's, there's Wayne player autograph. Oh, I wish I actually have poor
at set me some of those, uh, on core golf balls. Uh, a year ago or so I should have
like whipped those out because that would have been sick.
That'd have been a good one. All right, sorry. What do you got?
Dej, I'm fishing in the same pond as you were regarding some of these trading cards. Okay.
I'm I've got three of them and I'm going to loop them all into, into one, uh, thing here. But
first up, I got a signed tie try on a rookie card, which I don't need to explain that.
Don't know that there was really a sophomore card.
Yeah, exactly.
You never know.
That's one still could be worth big time if it works.
You still probably only like 26.
The famous 17 year old phenom that was great.
Before Mossimo got pinched in the varsity blues scandal. I'm not the first trading card on the list.
Also not the first Spencer Levine item, but TC,
this one's for you is the Spencer Levine rookie card.
This one did set me back $1.82.
And this was the first item I bought.
This was $2.68.
I got a David Berganio Jr. signed card. You can also like I'm cleaning
up here. You can also store all this stuff. Yeah. David Bergoglio Jr. That's that's good.
God, that's that's a long time to think about a Trevor Emelman rookie card. But couldn't
quite I probably just could call Trevor and be like, yo, you got any of these like lying around the
basement and you could just send me.
The combined cost of that was 1630.
The tie trial on card did set me back 1180.
So that was a good buy.
That's a good buy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hold there.
Don't turn, don't flip that.
I'm hot like that one.
Again, I think just like a wall of golf memorabilia, like sprinkling these little things in there
is the best, like if you know, you know, type of thing for someone coming over to the house.
I love it.
TC, what else?
Listen, we'll do it now.
Also on the Spencer Levine front, a signed-
That's awesome.
Golf week.
Look at the RIP Reformation in Process, Spencer Levine 2004 to whenever.
This was just such a burying his past.
I loved golf.
I was an avid golf week subscriber.
DJ, I know you're a former employee.
My first job.
Yeah.
I mean, the ads in here, everything just brings me back.
The title of the of the article, the article in here is Jeff Rood added is a Jay coffin.
Oh, attitude adjustment. Spencer Levine takes stock of himself and his new direction leads
to one sizzling summer. I mean, look at the pleated pants there. This is signed of course
as well. And then on the on the next page. It was pictures of your Twitter profile there. Yeah. On the next page, there's a collar up cigarette lit and plenty of confidence is
the, is the caption there. You know, we've got Andrew Putnam winning the Pacific amateur
playoff. You've got like all the standings and stuff in the back, all the little, uh, want to know,
let's see here, the AJGA, greater Hartford, JCs, Jr. John Curran won that, that week.
The Rome classic Hudson Swafford one by one over Glenn Northcutt, Harris English finished
four behind him.
Ben Kishigin, who was also a really good player. R.E. finished six back.
You've got Mark Silvers, you probably remember that name.
Zach Suture.
You know, all sorts of stuff like that.
So just a total blast from the past, but this is getting framed and going up on the wall.
That's like peak Spencer Levine.
This was August 14th, 2004, two months
after the U S open at Schoenacock.
As the guy who used to have to lay out that like scoreboard agate section in the back,
I'm just a very, very happy to see that getting some, getting some more run TC.
Now I will say this, this did, this did set me back $39.76. It's worth it. Wow. We're not a big handler.
I think it was more and I put in a, you know,
hail like here's an offer kind of thing.
I did that on a few items, but I didn't,
I didn't do a whole lot of like email based haggling.
It was most just the, yeah.
Legit representatives handle that.
I love that one TC.
That's a great, that's a great find.
Also the, just you mentioned a bit like the ads alone would be,
but nostalgia hit there.
Just even seeing that graph a lot of blue.
Yeah.
It was like, Oh yeah.
They probably sold about 60 million of those shafts.
The title is ad on the back was,
it's going through all the winners that year.
You've got Ernie L's at Sony,
Mickelson at the Bob Hope, Jonathan K at the FBR open,
VJ three times, Mike Weir at the Nissan,
Adam Scott at the players and the Booz Allen,
Reteef, Zach Johnson at the Bell South Classic,
Steve Flesh at the Colonial.
God, I miss those days.
Those are great golf days.
All right, Kev, I had just a very, very abridged little history lesson here.
But are you guys familiar with the name Airy Ball?
No, no. Great.
I'm happy to hear that.
Airy Ball was a Welsh golfer who was born in 1910.
He has a very, very, very specific distinction and a very
specific place in the game of golf, which is that he was the last living man to play
the original Masters. And so he went around and signed about 6 million note cards and
anything you wanted him to sign that just said last man standing, airy ball 1934 masters, which is just so sick. So I just got this little tiny note card that just
his handwriting, last man standing, airy ball, 1934 masters, the ball guard. This costs 11
bucks. And this is just the like, what a steal. That's just steal. And again, there's, there's
hundreds of these like on, I was like, Oh my
God, what an unbelievable find. And then I was like, Oh, it's
$11. He signed this on literally anybody that walked up to him
by the street would like, would have 60 to these things for him
to sign. So, uh, but just a fun, you know, I don't know what
other little touch point I'm going to have from the original
first ever math years played. So, uh, just to have it in his,
his handwriting and this like black ink, sunk it into this
note card. It's just, it's very cool. And we'll make like a cool little matted, framed
thing. I think so.
I love back in the day, guys would sign, as you mentioned this a little bit before, like
Pat Reed doing Captain America thing, but when they would sign something other than
their actual autograph, it wasn't, it wasn't an autograph factory where someone's just
cranking these out. Like Pete Rose trying to earn the rent money.
It's like, you know, I'm the last man standing.
Put that on my tombstone.
That's so good, man.
So good.
So he passed away in 2014 at the age of 103.
So I mean, he just soaked it all up, which is great.
Do we know what he finished at the Masters?
I don't actually.
That's a great question.
You can look that up pretty quickly.
I'm finding it right now. He finished T 38 74, 75, 74,
86 in the, in the final round, which I am not going to make fun of.
And he's fixing the final round.
Last last man limping.
At least he got to the final round.
Gusted that day. It is a lot
of high scores on that Sunday.
Ernie shot 80. All right, Kev, were those your last? I got one item left. This is, this
is me bringing home. Hopefully I have some audio here. Hopefully Cody can, can hit it
for me here. I had to go all the way to Holland to get this item. It is not available in the
United States, but truly like I, as soon as I saw this, I absolutely had to have this.
This is a vinyl copy of Gary player sings. It is a, a record that Gary player recorded
in 1969 and released to the public. It is, It has a golf ball record sleeve and jacket on the front.
Pictures of Gary at various stages in his career.
And this is like in the middle of Gary's career, you know,
he's gonna go on and win the Masters in 1978,
whoever, so he's still not done winning.
It has a note from Andy Williams on the inside.
Dear Gary, I have thought seriously
about taking up my clubs and joining the PGA Tour.
If I had any idea I could do it as well as your business,
as you and mine, I would have been more
than happy to give it a go.
I had no idea during our friendly golf games together
you were getting more in the way of instructions than I was.
Or alas, how come you made all your own album while I'm still struggling to stay in the way of instructions than I was or alas, how come you made all your own album?
Well, I'm still struggling to stay in the seventies. It's a good record, Gary.
And I'm happy to congratulate you.
I'll count cost you a couple extra strokes when we next see each other on the links.
Signed famous singer Andy Williams.
Gary sings when the Saints go marching in on this.
He sings some songs.
Jenny, Happy Heart, Sing in the Blues,
Kumbaya, Deep in the Heart of Texas,
over and over again, Rock My Soul, and Green Green.
You can find audio of this on YouTube,
which is where I got our producer Cody to sort of play this.
But it is truly, truly a priceless item for me. I will be playing this around the house
at the holidays summer days. Just remember my guy Gary a couple of things. Can we lay out for a
second and just hear it? Yo yeah! I was about to say there's an absolutely no way this is him singing. And then you just
hear that little clip. It's like, Oh no, it actually is. That's 100% Gary. I encourage
everyone to go and I mean the the this record sleeve alone that
the fold out golf balls. I had $600. It actually cost $53 with the conversion. I had it blew
out. It was a good amount of shipping to it was probably I can show you the budget thing.
I think a total probably cost me $75 like like, you know, as in pounds conversion.
But that's why I only came in here at six items.
Because I, as soon as I saw this one, I was like, well, I cannot like move forward without
making that purchase.
It was reviewed in basically like a lot of papers around the country in 1970.
The Western Daily Press referred to it as no hole in one and suggested that Gary was
carried by the orchestra.
The Boston Globe said he sings in the style of Dean Martin, but not so much execution.
The age, which I believe is an Australian newspaper said Gary player is nothing if not
a trier.
The little South African is trying to make a name for himself as a recording star.
It's a nicely produced friendly album, but unlikely to trouble those
other well-known golfers like Dean Martin, Andy Williams, and Bing Crosby.
Who in the modern game do you think is most likely to release an album just singing standards?
Oh, God. Peter Malnati. Malnati. Horschel, maybe?
I will pay for the production cost. Bryson will do this. Bryson singing standards would
be so great. I will sing with Bryson on the damn thing.
Anyway, I would like this to be my entrance music
whenever I come on the podcast during the live shows.
Oh, shit, it's going to be me.
Oh, shit.
Gary Fillers singing Kool I.I.
I guess I'm watching in.
Oh, when the Saints go marching in.
Oh, Lord, I want to make some bogeys. Oh my God. What a find.
Yeah, that's a good AI to just change it to when KVV comes marching in and Gary
player's voice. So hopefully that will be on my wall for all future podcast
appearances. Unbelieveable. All right, sorry. How many, how many guys got left? I got a lot left still. Okay, I got three left. I'll not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure.. Double entendre. These guys are good on the course and they're good with your cherry and they're good. They're good on the board room too. And that's
right. She asians as well. So that cost me 1431. Uh, but that is my, gonna be my hat. I throw on
whenever I got to be a D writer. I love that. I think, uh, I got a fact check here, but I'm pretty
sure if it's not the same person, it's the same team basically came up with these guys are good.
And also the best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup, which is a pretty pretty fucking.
Yeah, banger one to work out.
Godfather to take nobody else.
It's like that's right.
Exactly.
All right.
What do you got?
Listen, I'll do a little two for one here.
One of them is not here yet.
One of them is here. This is the Hawaiian open. This is a big, big deal. This is 1972 iteration.
This is Jim Beam used to do all these decanters. They're freaking awesome. There's dozens of them
from different Hawaiian open years back when United used to sponsor it.
It looks like a 747 on this one. So it's going to be a great background for me. The Hawaiian Open
Pro-Am 1972. And this was a big deal because this is the 25th anniversary of United's service to
Hawaii. And then on that same note, this one's not here yet, but we will lay in pictures.
Deidre, you're going to absolutely covet this thing.
It's the 1977 Glen Campbell Los Angeles open one and it's his face on it.
Like the golf bag is like a guitar and then coming out where the tune, it's sick.
So that's such a good block. Those like tournament decanters are so good. The pebble ones are awesome.
That has some room to run TC. When I hand over the OJ golf ball,
we might have to have a drink of the Hawaiian open decanter.
I don't know if you want to have a drink. And they're very clear to say in the ads, they're like, hey, this is empty.
There's not whiskey in this.
Whiskey sold separately.
All right.
I will go, I'll take you guys back to 2002 with mine.
Some of our more gray haired listeners may remember this happening, but I don't know
if everybody would. Do you guys remember anything with Golf Digest making buttons?
I do.
Oh, is this a Be Nice to Monty?
Yes. This is a Be Nice to Monty.
Oh my God. That's so good.
That was released. I believe this was the brainchild of Jerry Tardy golf
Digit longtime golf digest editor
And they made about 25,000 of these this is right as kind of Monty
heckling was was reaching its its real fever pitch and golf digest was trying to
You know just kind of reinstate some decorum and some kindness into the game.
And so they, they set up this situation where readers could
basically mail like a self addressed and stamped envelope
to Golf Digest headquarters and they would send them one of
this, one of these buttons.
I believe Monte also got a bunch of them for himself.
I think he got like 25 of them and just was like him and his
aunt is his caddy Andy Proger were
We're wearing them wearing them
Wearing them on the course and passing about to fans. I found a couple of
Either I think it was Guardian articles from like 2002
That kind of spelled out a little bit of the history here at At this point, Golf Digest had only made two other buttons.
One was for Dwight Eisenhower.
It didn't say if it was like pro or anti.
I think it was just like, you know,
Ike likes golf sort of button.
And the other one was, don't ask what I shot,
which kind of feels like a, you know,
I hate Mondays, Garfield type of button.
I mean, G4 ran with that.
That's kind of say.
Yeah, exactly. And then this from
the guardian Montgomery himself is so sold on the idea. He's obtained 25 told his caddy Andy Proger
to wear one on either side of his baseball cap and distribute the remainder to family and friends.
It will mean he hopes an end to being called quote, you fat bastard and end to being labeled
Mrs. Doubtfire at a cessation of all references to the Ryder
Cup and Europe's loss in that competition last time.
And apparently this did not work all that well.
And even like the people who were wearing the buttons started getting heckled by the
New York fans, which is pretty inspiring stuff.
So this, I'm almost overwhelmed by the possibility of where to put this.
Do I put this on my golf bag and carry it with me through every round?
Does it stay safe in the house? I don't, I don't know what I'm going to do with
this, but it's, it's a reprised possession that it cost me 16 bucks.
Wow. That's so incredible. Fine.
I'm the most jealous of anything on the list so far of that.
You know that scene in the wire De Dej, where bunk is like,
chewing out Omar and he's like,
it's a shame motherfucker how far we done fell.
Like that's how I feel.
Like we used to be a country, you know, be nice to Monte.
And then we were like, oh, Colin Bruxy,
you know, Colin Bryson Bruxy.
Like, let's go back to the be nice to Monte.
It's all just gotten so much.
Listen, I should do a TC themed be nice to Tom Kim. That's that's interesting
Yeah, I don't know. That's that's a little bit of you controlling the means of production there since I think you started a lot of
Hatred a little bit of war profiteering. We're all trying to find the guy who did this
Yeah, I mean if you got a TSC and then Scottie created Tom Kim like it's kind of a net
Scottie and then Scottie created Tom Kim. Like it's kind of a rushing nesting doll of like things you created. Oh man. All right. Well, I feel like so KVV's at the end of his list.
I feel like we just maybe empty the chamber here one more time around.
Do you want me to do all mine? I think so. Yeah. Okay.
All right. This one is just a weird sentimental favorite for me from 1999.
Again, a very impressionable time in my golf fandom. This is a Sports Illustrated. I got the full issue, fan of the golf. I'm a big fan of the golf. I'm a big fan of the golf. I'm a big fan of the golf. I'm a big fan of the golf.
I'm a big fan of the golf.
I'm a big fan of the golf.
I'm a big fan of the golf.
I'm a big fan of the golf.
I'm a big fan of the golf. I'm a big fan of the golf. I'm a big fan of the golf. I'm sure. And I'm just excited to go again, a favorite part of,
oh, I didn't even know there was a card in this.
There's some great pictures in there too, like of him.
I think it's of him out at Sawgrass.
God, I love Randy Johnson, Chris Webber,
Yarmir Yager up in the top right.
Just some minor background here.
Gary Smith, who's the writer of this piece,
was like the Wright Thompson of his day.
In fact, Gary Smith is certainly probably on a higher plane
for magazine writers, and Wright would say that too.
And he got Deval to sort of open up and talk about
his brother dying as a kid of leukemia.
And it's like, you know, Dave Deval was like this
robotic standoffish dude who nobody ever opened up,
and it just opened everybody's eyes to like, you know, David all was like this robotic standoffish dude who nobody ever opened up and it just like opened everybody's eyes to like, Whoa, okay, like, I get why you are
the way you are.
It's like you've been through some shit.
I used to have to get a fucking needle jabbed in your spine like over and over to try to
like help your brother, you know, get bone marrow to be able to try to live.
And you basically like the trauma that you carried forward
through that when he didn't is like kind of shaped
who you are.
And man, it's a fucking really, really wonderful story.
I mean, I don't know if it's available for free
on SI Vault anymore, but if you could find it, read it.
Yeah, that's a historical text you got there, I think.
Yeah, opening picture there of him fishing
from the back of team green at Sawgrass. It's like seared in my memory. Yeah.
And I just love the time capsule part of doing all the newspaper hunts that we've done.
And you just see like, yeah, 1994 season baseball seasons going on strike as you're researching major
stuff. It's just great. I mean, here's gosh who, who Troy gloss news back from 1999.
Like I'm just going to get such a good swing. Troy gloss.
All right. We're going to get a little dumber here. Uh, probably pretty quickly.
I got a Laura Davies, uh, Foster's coaster. Um, sporting great.
Uh, that cost me $8 and 53 cents, but, uh, yeah, Foster's sporting great. I'm not a fan of that. I'm not a fan of that. I'm not a fan of that. I'm not a fan of that. I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of that.
I thought I'd be the only one that had an ad. TC had the United ad.
I thought I would have maybe the best Gary Player piece,
but I definitely lost that one with the record.
But here is Gary Player and Lee Elder in an ad
for what is something called the Premier Cup.
The healthiest man in the world is in an ad for a cigarette.
Cigarettes.
Which apparently, this is a $14 million premier senior PGA tour. Premier cups. Is
it like the Schwab cup? Was that the Schwab cup of, of senior golf in the late eighties,
$14 million.
Was this the one in sun city, South Africa though that might be, cause he, he famously
brought Lee to South Africa as, and he was like pushed hard with the premiere of South Africa. You know, they
got tons of money there to try to prove we're not a racist country. Like, and we're going
to bring Lee elder here to prove it. So it might have big connection there. Very well
money involved. But I mean, it is, I don't know if they brought a senior PJ tour event
to South Africa. Was that what you're saying? Or do they just bring an event there? I mean,
this is official. There's a senior PGA tour logo on this as well.
Surgeons general quitting smoking,
all the warnings when it comes to smoking,
but Gary Player in a cigarette ad was a shockingly fast buy
for me for $10.80.
But it's not even like a bad warning.
It's just quitting smoking now greatly reduces
serious risk to your health.
Yes. That's it. I'm greatly reduces serious risk to your health.
Tali, I tried to find some Dumarie stuff like they're from because they used to, I think,
sponsor a big LPGA event. I think it was like a major at the time, the Dumarie open or invitational or whatever. But yeah, the old cigarette stuff's sick.
This is one of my lone cool items,
actual decent keepsake.
This one cost me $16.61,
but a ball marker from the 2000 British Open
at the old course.
Tiger, you know, Tiger obviously won
to complete the career Grand Slam.
That's sick. Yeah, that's great. I'm excited for this one. I'm terrified. I'm going to lose it.
And how much was that? $16 61 cents.
Some of those people had no idea what they had. Right. Uh,
on the other side as well. Yeah. So this is like strapped.
We're going to have to increase the budget, uh,
next year because people are going to just jack the prices. Exactly. You got it.
So everybody knows the ACEs, right? I don't need to tell you guys about that.
Of course. And everybody knows the range goats now. Right.
Do you remember what the range goats originally were? The Niblix? They were.
That's right. So again, for obscure stuff that doesn't exist anymore,
I got a Niblix t-shirt,
Niblix golf club on the sleeve. Again, if I've been reading,
I do a lot of reading online, especially on the for you page on Twitter,
a lot of people saying this league is about to take off, uh,
and has been taking off for quite some time. And so I thought, well, I mean,
gosh, an original shirt from an original franchise that doesn't even exist
anymore. It's gotta be a really valuable item. So regrettably,
this was the most money I spent on any item. It was $24 and 81 cents. Uh, but I got a Nipmuc
shirt to show for it. But it's like a Cleveland spiders or a Brooklyn Dodgers kind of shirt,
you know, just that's going to go back to days of your, the final item is definitely
the dumbest. Uh, but one I had absolutely had to say for last, it cost me $15 and four cents. It's an event that we all hold near and dear to our hearts.
T.C., you know, every time the roster for this event comes out,
he's like, you know, he's doing research into it.
The musicians, you know, they are going to be potentially be performing there.
You know, there's other celebrities.
Tiger James, I was going to be attending Tiger Jam.
I got a seat cover from Tiger Jam. You bought that. I was trying to get that too. The AT&T logo on the back.
I tried to find the blue curtain from Tiger's apology video.
That was not, uh, not even a seat cover from Tiger Jam.
Uh, is I would have fucking bought the shit out of like one of those pictures of him and Adam Duritz together when they're both.
I would have fucking bought the shit out of like one of those pictures of him and Adam Duritz together when they're both.
I would have fucking bought the shit out of like one of those pictures of him and Adam Duritz together when they're both.
I would have fucking bought the shit out of like one of those pictures of him and Adam Duritz together when they're both.
I would have fucking bought the shit out of like one of those pictures of him and Adam Duritz together when they're both.
I would have fucking bought the shit out of like one of those pictures of him and Adam Duritz together when they're both.
I would have fucking bought the shit out of like one of those pictures of him and Adam Duritz together when they're both.
I would have fucking bought the shit out of like one of those pictures of him and Adam Duritz together when they're, is I would have fucking bought the shit out of like one of those pictures of him and
Adam Duritz together when they're both fucking weird Adam Sandler style jeans
and stuff. Oh man. So I thought you spread the board, spread the board
excellently. Really, really efficient value value ads. Yeah. I was a value
shopper. Uh, that was great. stuff. Who doesn't, you know,
we all live with regrets. Of course. Yeah. TC, you want to, you want to empty the chamber?
What else you got? Yeah, I've got one more. This is my piece de resistance that not here
yet getting delivered in about three hours, I think once my mailman comes, but this is
a signed picture, three autographs on this picture, guys, signed a picture.
It was originally priced at $99 and I offered the guy offered 30 and they came
back with, with like 39, uh, it's a signed picture of Woody Austin, Omar
Yaresti and Billy Ray Brown.
It's a big three.
The big three.
And it's framed.
So I, you know, I don't even have to frame it.
Omar's got this frame.
Yeah, that's great.
Massive, massive hat on.
It's incredible.
So I'm, this is going to go front and center.
I hope that seller didn't have to take a loss after you really negotiated it down, you know,
like underwater on that picture. Tony91504.
Yeah.
Haste it.
Oh man, that's really good stuff.
All right, I will bring it home. This was my most sentimental one. I can't believe that I found this, but
I've talked to you guys about the golf course where I grew up.
I've talked to you guys about the golf course where I grew up. Golf course that was open in the seventies probably shouldn't have existed.
Basically just was built to sell houses.
Way too nice of a golf course for the town that it was in, which was like 3000 people.
So therefore I kind of just had the place to myself for most of the time.
But when it first opened, it was like, man, we're a proper golf course.
We're going to do things right.
We've got a locker room downstairs.
We have no members, but like we have, you know, there's going to be all this like all these like touches.
And one of the first things I remember when I was working there was like in the basement, there's all these like leftover bag tags,
because it was like, oh, we're going to have all these bag tags for these members and these people that come through.
Somebody for some reason was selling one of those bag tags
for this little golf course in Genoa, Illinois, the Oak Club.
So this was just like a massive nostalgia boom, just like right
to the brainstem. I don't know how this person rate on this or
why they would be selling it or certainly didn't think anybody
was was going to buy it. But this was $19, including shipping.
So it doesn't have a name on it got a spot for buy it. But this was $19 including shipping. So it doesn't have
a name on it. It got a spot for my name. So this one, I think just is going to go out
right on the golf bag. Really, really.
That tug's at the heart right there. That was so good.
Dude, I never even thought to do this. I just searched Riviera Country Club Dublin, Ohio.
There's an old matchbook on there with the old address. I got every thought about this. Holy shit.
I sent him to AJ Volpal.
And that's right. Good boy.
Originals and have him take a picture of the matchbook.
Well, speaking of matchbooks, Cody, I might actually do my last two out of order here.
I might do the last one first and then I'll come back to the other one.
But you know how like golf outings and stuff, they give those like little matchbook
sort of things, you know, that are like, it's like a folded paper thing that has, you know, like
a, it's got like five T's in it and a ball marker and it's got like state farm insurance
on the, on the front or whatever.
Uh, sorry, I was fishing in the same pond as you.
This is arriving today, unfortunately.
Uh, but this was a, a Lehman from a Lehman Brothers outing just You know some golf tees and a ball marker and I just god
I really love the idea of you know, play a TC in a match or whatever and he's got it
He's going and putting his ball back down. He's got to keep looking at my leave it brothers ball mark
I just I really like like dropping that one on on somebody
I feel like is is is gonna be really exciting and then the last piece I got I'm going to lose that so fast, but it's going to really make me laugh. A lot of people are working my ball.
That's true.
That's well said.
The last one, this was the one that...
You'll probably have a bunch of Lammon Brothers former employees reaching out.
I got more stuff in the basement.
DJ at NoLangUp.com.
Please hit me up.
The last one, this was the one that I'm going to lose.
I'm going to lose that so fast. probably have a bunch of Lamond brothers, former employees reaching out. I got more, I got more stuff in the basement.
DJ and no leg up.com. Please, please, please hit me up. The last one,
this was the one I had put an offer in. It was, you know,
they were selling it for some exorbitant price and I think I offered him like 30
bucks or something. Uh, didn't think that they were going to say yes.
And then they did. And I ended up kind of blowing out my whole budget.
When I was much younger and first like getting into music stuff,
somebody got me a vinyl copy of a of Led's Up on Four that was signed by three
of the four members of the band.
Unbelievably nice, very, very cool thing
that my brother has since stolen from me.
This was similar, this was similar,
signed by another three members of another band,
which was the Golf Boys, kind of an eight by 10 sort of glossy, uh, that's signed by three out of the four golf boys,
Ricky Ben Crane and Hunter mayhem.
Uh, I think I also can't really tell cause they all, it's like a black photo and they
all signed it in black, but I'm pretty sure I do not see Bubba's anywhere.
It was a real blast from the past not see Bubba's signature anywhere. It was a real blast from
the past to see Bubba's chest hair again in this picture that really caught Justine off
guard and kind of ruined her night when she saw this arrive at the house. But yeah, again,
just KVV kind of from the, you know, what we once were type of department that feels
quite surreal to look back.
Things can be great again, Dej.
I hope so.
There's a time we can still return to.
I hope so.
So that's my list.
It was 197 bucks.
So we maxed it out.
But guys, what an honor.
What a thrill.
I know.
I know.
Dej, I got clarity from Wolfie.
He said that you reached out to him two months ago
Maybe ideas sign that deal and I forgot I guess and he said quote
I thought I recommended a book about two cats that turn into Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson every night when their owner falls asleep
foibles of the links
What I gotta check my tags, I don't remember this at all
by Hart bar jr. And it's uh, it's whereupon golfing immortals Bobby Jones Walter Hagan old Tom Morris and others
gained redemption through three cats
Guys this this ruled we gotta we gotta do another one of these next year That was probably out there for anyone who wants to, wants to, but, uh, guys, this,
this ruled, we gotta, we gotta do another one of these next year.
Should we make a vow a year, you know, the one year from now we return to this?
I like that.
I think, I think the new, yeah, I think the new, uh, the new budget starts now.
The clock turns over.
So you're, you're free to start procuring, procuring new, new materials.
Um, like lobby the czar to up the budget by $25. I don't know how the tariffs are gonna affect
How do you guys feel about the budget? Do we need to go up? I?
Think if we went up slightly it would probably make it more impactful 250 maybe I think there's some some value and constraints
Right or saying or saying shippings not factored in a part of it. Sure
Yeah, you should go to 250 but doesn't it doesn't count shipping
Yeah, feels like yeah, we had to talk to the czar. Yeah, of course
Don't take MX on eBay. Yeah, that's true. I just set up a whole
I got to submit these
In all kinds of run on this part not to influence the jury, but can we have Gary player play us off here?
Absolutely.
