And Kendook. And Kendook. Francesco Molinari is your champion golfer of the year, winner of the gold medal. Are we going to remember this day more for Mololenari winning the open or for big cats run? I think big cats run. I don't know. I think so too. I mean, yeah. It will be tiger, but Molenari's performance was... I don't even think it's underrated. I think people do realize how good it was. No bogies on the weekend. Yeah, it's insane. At no point did it ever feel like he was gonna slip up and that shot he hit into 17 was,

I mean, that was the shot coming in. I mean, 16 was downwind, 15 downwind, 18 was downwind. You just needed to execute the shot on 17. And then he stepped up in birdie 18 too, which a lot of guys that needed to did not do down the stretch. So, which was kind of, I mentioned to you guys, I was a little, there was some false drama being built up around that tiger putt when the guy who was two shots

ahead of him was actually closer to the hole. And they're like, you know, this one's really got to go down for tiger. So like, is Mullen Argon have a stroke from like, from six feet there? I don't think so. Biggest upset, maybe, and they didn't roll the van deville clip before Mullen Argon was playing the 18th hole maybe, in that they didn't roll the Van Deville clip before Molinar was playing the 18th full. That's true. I'm surprised they didn't cut in and show Toreco and Tom Lehman just, you know, hamming it up in front of, you know, just like a blank backdrop instead of showing the action

on the stretch. We'll get to the broadcast. We're going to take them, I think, a bit to task for that. But regarding the big cat, I guess, anything more we need to say about Molinar He came in super super hot into this for the people out there that are claiming He was you the your sleeper pick in any way this guy's the sixth ranked player in the world now I don't I don't know how anyone could be making that making that point He he just didn't look like he I don't think he missed one shot. No today. I mean like this weekend

Like the worst the worst he probably I remember him playing I guess was on six when he hit two bunkers and You know got up and down for par on the par five It is the only time I'm like, oh man, maybe it's falling off every other time He just ate it was like four footers for par every single other single person put themselves in very difficult positions over the course of the weekend. He just did not at all. It was remarkable. That course was, I thought scores would be way, way lower than they were.

It played a lot tougher despite it, the conditions not being that difficult as far as wind or weather or anything like that. So yeah, I was surprised to see eight under wind. I thought a lot lower would, especially with the benign conditions in the earlier days But I think with Molinari like you talk all you want about not missing golf shots But at the end of the day like he made it was like Capka

He made every single eight to twelve footer. They looked at which is like the like the bigger racer, you know What was the to your first question? What was the last major where Tiger actually really made it run? A real run? Like a real, a real, real run. I don't know. I'm not made into pushing on the spot here. I'm just curious if how we remember that one. Was it the drop controversy? I guess. 13 masters. I mean, the 13 open, he was very much in the think of it. That's what I was thinking. That's the closest one. He didn't really make a Sunday run necessarily, but that's the closest, definitely, that we've been to win a major since. I guess it would be, I don't know. The win was just so out of the sales after 11 and 12 that it didn't really feel like he was gonna. But it, your mind

it was very rough. After 9 I thought he's going to win. Well, and what flipped? I'm trying to think like, I thought he looked, he looked so dialed dial. I thought he I thought he looked just I mean His jittery is you know the arguably the best player of all time is going to look like something flip 20 when he made the turn I feel like stop playing aggressively Two fairways with irons and I mean it was just I don't know ever since the recoil out of the bunker He that's when things he but he doubled 11 and boggy 12. Maybe that just took up too much energy. It might have, maybe that might have broke the fusion. He wanted that recoil more than he wanted the win.

Which I'm fine with actually, that recoil was at all time moment, they're talking about people, they're talking about him pitching outside ways. There was only 150 yards and he had to clear the lip and had the helping win and he got it there. If he had made that put, the kill house might have came down. Like that might have been the moment. There was a lot of screaming in this house today.

That was extremely fun. It was extremely fun. Yeah. Yeah, I think Randy, you had a macro question about today. I'm trying to... Well, basically, was it more fun or was it more of a let down? Oh, sure, sure, sure. Yeah, yeah, sorry.

No, yeah, it was like end of the day kind of what's your what are you left with like what are you you know hey that was a really fun day of golfers it you know that was just kind of a letdown. I think overall fun it's more about kind of the journey getting there than it is the actual result and the fact that we had all that stuff to entertain of course we wanted tiger to win like that would have been what the golf story of the, maybe of the last 10 years. Just weird joking. Imagine thinking back to PGA Tour events this year and how little that matters compared to what happened. No, not this year, like the last 10 years. I was thinking about, if Tiger would have

gone on to win today, what event matters between the 2008 US opening today? I think you know what I mean? Like it just like it races like five years of their couple of PJ tour golf. Like Spice first win, the Spice win and Augusta for sure. Spice win at the John Deere, yeah, prior to Augusta. Yeah, sure.

Maybe Michelson win and a Muir field. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I think that that goes in there. Yeah, point taken. It's like nothing matters. Like there have been so many moments where the one I threw out was Rob winning at farmers for his first win, I think. And I remember watching that and I was like, oh my gosh,

this is a watershed moment. This is amazing. And thinking about that today, they flashed some like Rob graphic or highlight or something I was put no yeah, I'm like man What a like that feels like it was 20 years ago. Yeah Well, I'm like it just doesn't matter Yeah, like it's such like an easy like cynical mindset to slip into I think kendook 65 at that players

Yeah, sure that was up there too for me. It's like some of these young guys like I want to get excited about Patrick Can't lay or I want to get excited about you know whoever but it's like it doesn't matter The only thing that matters is cat Patrick can't I finished t12. I don't think I saw him in a single shot this week Well, yeah, there's a lot look there was a lot of Eight they had to basically keep track of like eight people at every shot eight people or oh no I like I didn't mean that as mean that as a slight to the broadcast. I just mean like there was nothing. Oh yeah, yeah.

He just didn't, he was there. Yeah, he was there. I see, I see. Totally under the radar a whole week. It's also before the cat teed off today, I think we all looked at the leaderboard. We were like, all right, he's only four back, but there's three guys at nine under.

If there was one guy up there, I think we may think he has a chance, and he made made the turn and he was in the solo lead in the tournament that that Is more unlikely than anything that happened today. I think yeah, that's kind of what it almost gets We feel disappointed, but like this wasn't not supposed to even happen today. It was not supposed to be that excited You think he knew he was solo lead. I mean, I think he did Yeah, I think he did say it that's, I think he did it. I think he did it. Dude, I don't know.

He hasn't had a lot of reps in this spot. Like, we only see what we see on TV, right? So it's different. Maybe if you're watching them kind of between shots and does this pre-shot routine change and stuff, but very, very, very intangible. Like intangible, it just seemed like something was different. As soon as he took the lead on it.

Well, I mean, 10 was dead downwind, and then you turned back to play a leather. That's true. Into the wind, he sprayed the shot, and then he got lucky with his approach, and donged off somebody's head, and back into play, and he made double from a spot,

he shouldn't have made double from it, worse he should make bokeh from there. I still can't believe he chipped it on the double green. From the green? That was like unconscious. He cut that up and down though at least. Yeah, he made a 34. Oh, and then twer-

That's where Randy takes out his driver. It kind of bellies a driver down there. Yeah, I could have used a little bit more cheeky play. And then 12 was a 500 yard par 4. Those are the two holes that really were his undoing I guess. But even then if he pars in from there, I don't think I don't I guess yeah if he parsed both of those holes I guess he wins, but that's a lot to ask. I thought it was I thought it was big or three. Oh, right. I said yeah Yeah, I thought I was big of Roy to not birdie the last couple holes Like I think he knew that he didn't deserve to win this tournament

He did the right thing. Yeah, Roy take I think you had that he didn't deserve to win this tournament. He did the right thing. You ever Rory take? I think you had a great Rory take. I think he stunk. People will probably complain. They're like, oh, you know, you shot 70, 70. 69, 69, 70, 70. Yeah, which is great.

That's pretty good. He's stunk all week. I felt like he was just low energy, just kind good he's stunk all week like I felt like he was just low energy just kind of going through the motions all week and then he makes that eagle putt on Sunday and it's like making the 50 footer for eagle may have masked it may have masked a couple things yeah yeah it was weird but that was like his sea plot you know like he was he was he said he was comfortable all week but he really didn't he didn't get into any sort of rhythm or really didn't

have any momentum going and then all of a sudden he just he's like whoa guys hey I'm here I think that is more probably indicative of like the broadcast kind of losing track of what's going on this is the whole tape yeah is that Tommy Roy and Lance Barrow are the keepers of the tapes and they they only you only see what they allow you to see and so if all they're gonna show you is Roy missing putts or Roy missing greens or and they're going to show you is Rory missing putts or Rory missing greens and they're not going to show you know when he sensibly hits it to the middle of the green or he you know makes a 12 footer for a meaningless par like John just is your whole your whole context of it. I also think that Rory it's kind of a commentary on how good

Rory is that like when he's not you know when he's he's constantly missing those putts because he's constantly putting himself in those positions, that's not a slight and it's not really a compliment either. It's just like, hey, he's really, I thought it was interesting it's his first runner up in a major. But I just think it's a commentary on Rory being

like his baseline being so freaking good. Yeah, yeah, without a doubt. And I think also he was in what good position going into Saturday and that's the day when everybody out there was just throwing up red numbers before he even got out in the golf course. And he kind of sputtered coming out of the gate Saturday and it did feel like he just got left behind. Actually, yeah, again, not even faulting the broadcast.

It was so much to try to keep up with, but it didn't really have a lot of, he was not a big feature part of the story They were trying to tell so they would pop in to tell the story what I like when you hit that me that eagle putt on the back nine today on 14 I didn't I didn't know what it was for I don't know it was like tie the lead or whatever it was You just kind of I don't know what you had like eight guys that were essentially tied for the lead at that point I think I think at one point we'd kind of said Rory if you could just kind of like recuse yourself, like there's too much other stuff going on here. Like we can't really, we don't have the energy to keep up with whatever's going on. We can't really, we don't have the energy to keep up with whatever's going on.

It's just a success. It's just a fact to it. Can we miss it? Mississippi River, and I think the definitive Rory take is he's a throw or not a pitcher. I think that I don't think there's a take that sums up his golf game better. Yeah.

I'm gonna have to go to raise my hand like I always do on that one and say that he is one four majors and he is in turn 30. He's one, one, one. He's one, one major. Yeah, there's new evidence. He's coming to life. One, maybe one and a half. Okay, they've been asterix place. Can you explain that? Yeah, he want it.

Hoi Lake. But surely he won a congressional. That wasn't a major. It was really wet. Well, surely Kewa. That wasn't a major either. But for all of them. Valhalla. I'm kind of starting to get to the point where Valhalla and Baltic Rull were both simulations run by the PGA. Valhalla might be the studio that the PGA uses to do these simulations. Like if you look back to 2000, somehow Tigers ball, like reappearing where it did against Bob May. Bob May could have been a blatant play to like a lobby to the demographic too.

Like just kind of like fan service for like, hey, this guy's just like you. Yeah. Maybe you could win a major. These guys are good. to the demographic too. The classification that come into, you know, he's not, he has to play a course that's soft. Like this was about his firm of a golf course as you get, and that he doesn't play well in the wind. They was a very, very windy day and he showed out today. He finished a bit disappointed there. I thought he, I mean, we needed a birdie there on 18, but I think it kind of dispelled for this firm to get runner-up in an event where

you don't have a huge advantage by being able to bomb the driver. And it playing as this firm and the leaderboard was stacked from long hitters, short hitters, and for him to have gotten runner-up in this event, I think. I'm impressive. I'm going to go out on the limb with you and say that Rory McRoy is a good golfer. Yeah. It's a safe place for us. I hope that doesn't ostracize me from Randy and Tron.

No, I mean, I think he's a really, really, really good thrower. Like he's one of the best throwers to him. He's got the best arm in the game. Yeah. So what do you guys saying that he should be like a long drive guy or something? No, no, he just doesn't necessarily always know where the ball's going. Like, hey, when when it clicks it clicks I think he's still unlocking certain things in his toolbox. Yeah, but you know, he's not Greg Maddox

He doesn't he's not he doesn't have that level of precision speaking of Greg Maddox. He shot 76 today. Yeah Yeah, that's the elephant in the room. Yeah, I think you should have to apologize Yeah, what do I have to apologize? I think you should have to apologize to Greller first and foremost. Okay. What am I? I don't know. I just it was just such a bad day for me. Oh, it was somebody needs to apologize for something. That's how I feel. There's one guy that doesn't need to apologize, which is the the Turkish style haircut guy in Kurnusti. That guy killed it. I think under armor first of all, I should apologize to everybody. Because that was a bad outfit.

It was bad hats. That doesn't find out. Let's move past that. Like, the hat was bad. There was much more offensive things in the outfit. I think that was the... Well, the most offensive things were the shit that Nike tried at every moment.

That was bad. Yeah. I think that was the most disappointing I've ever been around from speed. Yeah, that was today. It's hard to square the facts that like he's a Hall of Fame generational golfer who's 24 years old and Like legitimately this happens. He might like sting You're right. It is very hard to square that I wonder why that's so hard to square How about this new Mike Weir like takeaway? It seems to be worth it.

Where was it for him? You know what else does that say? Listen, Ricky does that. It might be, you know, and mentally it might be a me problem, but I crowned him the master's champ after 36 holes. I crown him the open champ after 54 holes. He gets squirrely. Like it's not good.

That's where I think the Greg Maddix comparison comparison like that stuff didn't happen to Greg Maddox Right, you know he didn't give up a bunch of walks or a bunch of homers like he will always battle Even if he didn't have a stop Molinari might be on the cusp of his Greg Maddox period right now Molinari might be like Tim Wakefield. How old is Molinari? I could look this up I don't even know how and he strikes me as like graduations you're now just in rose like you guys you got your majors great careers i was terrified that that just in rose is going to win today i was quite afraid that was a legit

concern what he seems he's a class act what would look it's just very he's very much a class act uh... it's just look we've been this is well-worn territory on this podcast there's absolutely no reason to dislike him He is an absolute top bloke from every account. I thought it was a fantastic play.

Yeah, I thought it was great. You know, I like to call it car nasty. Why? Dude, everybody, did you tweet that or something? Everybody was using that the whole week. I think he fed it to Nike. They put it on the bottom of the shoes. Yeah, he fed it to DM it to Faldon. Faldon was saying it. It's disgusting. How good was the number three today? Oh, downwind. That's what that was. I think the playoffs should have been they just played number three four times

from four different T-boxes. They could have played number three 18 times, so that would have been happy. The course setup was, I was worried going into it that the balls running out so far, the guys were going to be able to flip wedges from any angle and be able to hold the greens because the greens were soft. But where they put the pins, tucked behind bunkers that had downslips on the backside of it, you had to honestly position yourself the back side of it. You had to, honestly, position yourself better than any event that I can remember to be on the right side of the fairways. And you had to play for so many center of the greens. Tiger got heat for playing, laying back

so far in a lot of places and hitting a long irons to the middle of the green. But in a lot of those situations, that was kind of the only play. A lot of pins you just couldn't get to, whether you had eight iron in your hand or four iron in your hand. So his strategy was to avoid fairway bunkers at all costs and make a ton of bars and sprinkle in birdies when he could. So his strategy was good and I thought the course just played out so perfectly. It's just such a shame that the best players in the world assemble one time per year to play like a real tough fun links layout. It sucks. I wish it was way more often and these be a wgc in Scotland or something the week before the open get guys to play it give me more links golf more than once a year with the best players in the world I know the

European tour plays it more than one week but you don't get to see DJ and all those guys play it except for one week a year look I listen listen man you know they should make the don Dunhill links at WGC. Yeah, absolutely. JP McManus and Dermott Desmond can underwrite it. Yeah, that'd be great. But I mean, a lot of flaws. Guys, you know what, I don't want to move on too quickly, but I am pumped for Bel Rive. Let me tell you.

Oh, yeah. I mean, major season kind of did come to a close. Where does it next year at this time? This will be the end mean major season kind of did come to a close. How weird is it next year at this time? This will be the end of major season. I kind of feel like I was excited about major season. Moving to May, but I don't know. What, what do you guys think of Kizner? I mean, he was really solid and really good.

I'm a little wobbly today. Yeah, I mean, that's gonna happen when 20 mile an hour wins. Like if you're a little bit off, you're gonna get exposed a little bit. Little wob. Probably but he played the back nine and one under day two I think that's Something to be said for that. I think he lost a tournament on Friday on 18 I can't believe he went for the green out of the Fescue

That was kind of silly he put six in play where you know you chip down the fairway You got a wedge, you know, maybe you get up and down at worst case, you make five. That was probably the most bizarre decision making. I saw this week. But he redeemed himself in the interview by saying, I didn't come here to lay up. Yeah. But you probably should have laid up.

If we're being honest. Shout out to Kusher. He's right there. T9. Kevin Chappell. I. Kevin Chappell. I love Kevin Chappell. I was rooting for him. I think Ricky was low man in the frat house this week,

today in the final round. The mad real, the mad real world house. The mad real world house. It'd be again, we've got. Oh, that's cool. You know, that's great. Can we wait for him? I, you know, there's been a lot of talk of apologizing.

I do, you know, I think I'm big enough to extend an olive branch to Randy and say hey we got on you a little bit when we looked like Ricky was gonna win. Things played out pretty much exactly how you had predicted that they would so I just want to not pretty much. I just want to give a little tip of a cap to to Randy on that one so thanks Randy we'll see you at Bel Rive I'm sure all the clarification put out. Thank you DJ. is that no point did it feel like Ricky was gonna win Of course we did get every single birdie. We did give Randy a bit of a bit of jabbing But I didn't feel different than any other week. Yeah, that's his whole point the course set up so well for him He got off to a good start. I I legit thought he was gonna be I thought he was gonna be up there

I was fooled by it again. Like I'll be the first to admit that I hookwined in sync or this week. I thought this was his week. Well, listen, I appreciate that apology. It's $7,600 to start. He was very much in it after $30,000. Sure, sure.

Oh, definitely in it. I didn't like necessarily think this week felt different in any way. Oh, it never does, but they don't know that. Can we, I think it's time. can we talk about Fleetwood? Yeah. That was probably the biggest disappointment for me this weekend. I thought he was in position A, he was striping at his playing well, and just a total non factor on the weekend. He played his best round of the week in the hardest condo. The hardest day was

Friday, and he got the worst of the draw Friday and shot 65 and then just did not bring in home this weekend. It was a bit disappointing. Sam Lipson is asking, what is the biggest disappointment of the weekend? And are you saying Fleetwood, John? It's tough to look past, Speed, but yeah. But yeah, Fleetwood, just because he didn't answer

the bell this weekend I thought I thought this was his time. I think it's just beef. It's time close. Yeah, I think it's it's like this is Everybody always talks about him kind of being the you know strategic thinking man kind of Plot your way around and just just kind of outlast everybody else and this was set up Ideally for him to do that. He started, you know, started with the lead and yeah, 76 today was was pretty. And then he was using alignment aids. Borderline unforgivable. Yeah, of course.

Well, the one shot that I go back to with Speed was the the three wood. Second shot on six. Yeah, instead of hitting his, you know, like other worldly hybrid or you're driving iron than he has. Yeah, It was a little bit reckless and that that one cost him pretty badly Randy Who's your biggest disappointment the weekend? Speed yeah, I'm right there with it We didn't talk talk much about Xander Shoffley He was a our our last hope to to keep the keep the clear jug in the States, but Are we where do we where do we kind of put Xander amongst the top young players in the game right now?

I mean, I feel like it's kind of people are really hesitant to put them into the superstar categories. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know what it is. Yeah, I think it goes back to our earlier take like nothing matters. It's like Tiger and maybe Phil. I think it's Tiger Phil's, Spieth and Rory. I think that's it. And then I think I'm so thankful. DJ is the number one player in the world and I still don't think people really care. It's like not like I just can't get excited.

And that's not his fault. No, it's not. But it's like it's our own fault. Yeah. Is he going to be on the Radar Cup team? Yes. Yeah, I think that's. Is he a lock?

What's he? I don't know if he's locked for points yet, but I think he's done enough to warrant getting picked.
