Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for tuning back in.
Episode two of the No Lang Up Official Podcast.
Unfortunately, not all in the same room this time.
We are in four different cities spread out
across the United States, but here to deliver
our usual scalding hot takes.
We have a short agenda.
Thank you for everyone that sent questions in,
and we'll try to get to as many of those
as we can.
First topic we want to discuss is of course the players championship this weekend which
Martin Kimer won by a narrow one shot margin over Jim Fure.
The Terminator.
The Terminator I guess is apparently his new nickname.
The big story of the weekend was Jordan Speaf, I guess, failing to convert a 54-hole lead
again.
I'd actually been laughing about you guys.
I've been pleasantly surprised with the lack of panic columns that I thought I was going
to see these last couple days. What have you guys thought?
You know, I think we headed off most of those concerns pretty early on, listen.
On Sunday with our, you know, tweets over and over and over again about basically preempting
any talk of speech, you know, lacking pop, not being a little far. I'm sorry.
I think the biggest key I actually thought Jason Sovos column today was the best at saying
that we just need to maintain perspective.
And at this point in their career, Tiger and Speed both have the same amount of victories,
which is one, at the age of 20.
And Tiger had in one of his first major it's it's
speed wins a major this year it will be it before tiger won his first major and
everyone i i know it's in these these horrible takes the people saying tiger
would have stepped on climbers throughout and all the stuff but no yeah
maybe twenty four year old tiger would have but
twenty year old tiger wasn't quite there yet and even that
the the tiger if we're going to keep comparison comparing tiger and
speech work
we're gonna flip on speech way too quickly it's a ridiculous comparison they
really can't be made but
you want to make it it's not straight yet
you know this is that this is young niel
shaman in from the west coast you know i would say comparing anybody tiger is like
playing
the computer and chat but it's not fair right now
even for spes
and just the fact that we're mentioning him in the same sentence
you're arguing on perspective absolutely right
also i don't think he played that bad down the stretch sixteen seventeen eighteen
played pretty solid
he almost made that put on seventeen
i mean lost it earlier the day obviously with the boat what you have three
bogies and five holes but
you know what's it
you put a
a Greg Norman and shot seventy eight or something like that shot that like
you know
you know you know
i just had you know you know you didn't get fouled out there right
uh...
yeah i mean
it it
it felt like everything went wrong for months on day and he was still right
there up until
probably the rangel a right after the rangel a of the free plan after that and uh...
that rangel a almost through a really really weird wrinkle in that
tournament and he kind of was in absolute complete control for sixty seven
and a half holes and man was he playing with a tight sink to the last
point we talk about uh...
surgeo burying that put on eighteen to sneak up the leaderboard there i thought
that was about you
yeah general
he's from real i believe he's from Rio.
Did Sergio even play that well?
I mean, honestly.
No, I thought you were putting it up.
It was pretty good.
Other than that, like, shanked pot on 17 on Saturday.
I mean, you missed like a 2.5 footer.
I think I was like, every time I saw him,
every time I saw him, he was like hoping his
iron with one hand like Fred Macriffing it, you know. Yeah.
He's only 11. Yeah, he didn't seem like he really had a
day game. He'd agree. Well, what's that shot at 11? Can we
talk about that shot on 11 that he hits in the pine shore? I mean,
can we talk about that shot on 11 that he had from the pine straw. I mean, it was a dumb.
It was the dumbest time for that water.
So, he ended up in the water, right?
Yeah, it was 40 yards short of clearing the water.
Let me even close.
Yeah, he dropped that one in pretty soft.
He left his foreshad, but missed like a 5'6' putt to save par.
But why don't just lay up and then you
got five sixty for birdie move on. Wait wait, what did you say? Why don't you just lay
up? Be careful using those words. Hey, hey, hey, no, let's go, come on, you can't be doing that.
Alright, I got a question for the group. If you can describe
Kymers weekend in one word, what would it be?
I'll start.
I'll say efficient.
I would say German.
I would say German.
I would say German.
I would say German.
I would say auto.
German for efficient.
Yeah.
That's what I'm going.
Mechanical.
Have you ever heard of Bernhard Langer described as anything like, but like, coldly efficient?
And now I feel like the same things happen to kimer like it's kimer were
you know english would be still thinking of game as like really efficient or
would label it something else but my problem i'm not a tiny with the
calling longer efficient
is longer the slowest player on the planet like it
the guy doesn't play it like
you know you stroke officially plan is like it's the guy doesn't play it like yeah he's stroked officially
but i think like watching him is like watching
paint dry it's miserable
awful
timer i i i love i love i've always thought
i wrote about the three cat i've always thought he's a robot never never
really thought much of him as far as it
it confused me how he ever made the number one of the world
that basically i thought out of nowhere i forgot about that man i totally forgot about that
you can color me a fan now how long would be a number one not very long but he uh... you can
you can you can color me a complete fan of that guy now i love his move at the ball i don't know many other any other guys
that
swing it from from the start of their backswing to impact any faster than that
he gets back so fast through the ball so fast and he doesn't
he doesn't care if a whole shapes right to left he's pulling out on all these long
parts for right to left all he's pulling out driver just hitting cuts anyways
right down the middle of the fairway he just said i'm gonna play my game i don't care
about trying to shape any of these shots and the play my cut and
he played that uh... he played one of course i think favors a right-left
ball flight that's what press people
hey that's what i'm talking about taught that i thought it's young tron over
there uh... in his
gleeful
champagne and fused joy last night
compared to timer to a young
meal and I appreciate that comparison.
I like to talk to the chorus with the ladies.
I think it's fair to say he's a big game hunter.
Big and beautiful door.
I wasn't there, both sides of the Atlantic.
I wasn't totally sold on them until I saw them in the airport charging his phone like a normal person and then I was just completely
want over what an every man what a
I'm all on board. Yeah, he's a human
They don't help me waste man.
Oh look, he's doing normal human things. I was like, excuse me,
he made normal human things.
Among Kimer's Wikipedia page,
I didn't write, did you shut a 59 on that,
the Euro Challenge Tour with a bogey?
Sheesh, I think I've got as a world golf ranking page up.
I think he was number one for a look like six weeks in two thousand eleven and then
he's stay at fallen all the way
to
as a little week ago he's ranked sixty first in the world
god you paint steward just made the pot
sweet sweet
sorry Phil
sorry Phil and Phil
the hurts man i couldn't watch i couldn't watch do we think he's making his way back or is this a
Is this the back gonna be back to being a top 20 top pen player in the world?
I don't I don't think the reason why he wouldn't be well
So you said he thought he was gonna win next week or this week. Excuse me. I love him this week again
I don't see any reason why not to eat yeah
I the reason I liked him for the players
was I probably played it well as far ago.
And the final round 75 made drop model into a T18 finish.
I thought he played a lot better than that.
And in general, and I thought it was right,
there's a ton of value on him at 80 to 1.
Just because he didn't have a high finish that week,
and he always these played decent at sawgrass
now he can't i mean i it was i mean it's finished was really shaky that i
play in the rain a lot for that he was unflammable so that rain can best
of this rhythm
and he was he was dominant and he's playing a weaker field this week at a
course that he played last year he finished
time for fifth at this at this event last year
that was a good idea that i was sitting in a bar on Sunday.
A very nice bar actually.
And I saw him make that put on 17 and I just was like, that was unbelievable.
I can't believe that one in.
I read what would you do a very nice bar.
Well, I would just mean it was a very dark mahogany.
There were actually other bound books. I that uh... you know high-end
whether
yeah they were
it was sitting very nice pool table in the back
i was uh... i was uh... i was pretty good in the
cradle up in the field position on my couch watching that lead the play shot by
shot
anything else from the player before you move on
not really i don't think rock family
i don't think rock family shot at 65 and a 66 and a 71 and did not win. That's pretty impressive.
Yeah, he's going to show up on around. Well, he shot a third round 80, which also really impressive. Hey, Sally, totally non-twisted by that course though.
Like, A, it looked awful.
E, it's like, I don't know, I think it's an ab, I think it's a disaster.
I think it's a little more automated course.
I think it's most automated course in four.
I think, I mean, it is, what it was built for, it works.
It was built for a dramatic, crazy finish, and we get it almost every single time for
this tournament.
And you really can't look away until at least the guy in the leaders past 17.
Like it is, with that much money on the line for that, like, like, moat unique of a shot, that is awesome.
But the rest of the course, I agree,
I'm half played it, it is completely underwhelming.
It's a big cookie cutter.
There's very little chance to be creative
or you strategy at all.
It's all placement off the tee, not a lot of drivers.
It's not a, it wouldn't be in my top 10 courses
to play on tour.
Other than that, the 17th hole, even in person is even cooler, actually, which was surprised me. It wouldn't be in my top ten courses to play on tour.
Other than that, the 17th Hall, in person is even cooler actually out, which was surprising.
Yeah, I like when I played it.
I mean, 17 was cool. 18 was great home.
When you played it, I got a good part three.
What did the high school and the junior tournament?
Yeah, I mean, I guess the other thing is, really, you have to really get a good feel.
You know, get a good champion and get a good champion always a good leaderboard you know you can't yeah you can't fake your way
right my court as I cliche saying but you really can't you know there's not very
many fluke winners Craig Perks would be much you're gonna be happy
Craig Perks would be standing up and disagreeing right now but
it's not not a lot of fluke winners in that place but I would sell on the tournament going into last year,
and I think last year gave us the best possible for anyone in any kind of golf media ever,
the best possible. Sunday you could have with Tiger and Sergio going down the stretch and
Sergio falling apart. They kind of revived my interest in this tournament, and I think I'd
like to share a kind of live episode as well. You tournament and i think i love this year kind of a bit of that though as well you gotta think though
that you said earlier the amount of money that's on a lot of because a huge
play in that too
you know that that's what i'm thinking about when these guys are on seventeen
it's just like that
serves
there's millions of dollars on this shot right here
or i think that's a kind of a bank and that's a huge factor you got to think
they they're thinking about that to you know they are i would be oh absolutely they have to be
uh... all right let's transition this into our
what's making a monthly occurrence of looking at the current writer cup
standing
being who's outside the cut line who's gonna fall outside the cut line who do we
take my side cut line
uh... service the u.s. obviously
here the hammers uh... bobber
jimmy walker
kulture
spieth and furek
all
between walker and furek all four of them are extremely close and look to be pretty
much box with the team
all the next will say
but what is like
light years and everybody's first point
yeah but it's but it's but it's sixty two hundred point versus forty seven
hundred for the next time
yeah it's but it's gonna be on the right to come to him unless
uh... unless that's how we leave the bag behind what about uh... jimmy walker
wet since he's kind of quieted down, is he on the border at all?
No, maybe the second with 4700, almost 4800 points.
He's got three wins this year.
No one, I did a little research on this.
No one has ever had three wins on Torra in a season and not made the Ryder Cup team.
I can't picture that happening.
Solid fact, right there.
I think he cares me a little bit, though, for the team.
I could just see him not being like that. I think he cares a little bit, though, for the team.
I could just see him not being like, I think we mentioned in the last one.
I could see him totally losing his game, his putter going cold, and he just needed total liability.
Yeah, that happened, but I think out of all these names that we're going to list,
he's the one that's most likely to fall off of that.
Yeah, I disagree with that.
Listen to his finishes.
Alright, he won at Pebble.
His finishes since then.
Time for 20th, time for 17th, 26th, 16th, 24th, 8th,
Miss LeCut, Wells Fargo, and then time for 6th in the players.
He's been extremely consistent outside of his 3th in addition to his 3 wins this year.
He's the quiet assassin. outside of his three in addition to his three wins this year uh... at the top
quiet assassin if you were you want to be worried about someone who's one
multiple times you know where i'm going next with this one next name on the
list
patrick reed
at the
top five
the top five guy
i mean can break man he's he's he proved it in junior goal
he put it in college
you know he'd balled out of the
web dot com for i mean he is a top-five
i love the golf i just guys they were printed in the middle
to finish at the low american
it was like that you fit the one to finish the low american or whatever
for the player's championship
he almost finished that last he shot seventy four seventy nine and finished
in a tie for a hundred and thirty seven
and it was through this week from the buyer now
it's a good job of ball
in hilton head was just
he's got it
get crazy little body
i remember watching that
anyway sorry for a good job
not very easy to be pretty i mean he's played like
he played horrible since his you know
his post-wing comments that they'll
yeah
then that interview type of fifty second
miss cut
type of forty eight miss cut miss cut
wow
wow yeah that's all right but tie for 48, Miss Cut, Miss Cut. Wow, wow.
Yeah, that's, that's all right.
So let's talk about, let's talk about
the real liability on this team right now.
And that's Phil Mickelson.
I mean, he's playing horrible.
Phil is currently sitting in a,
and can absolutely be passed.
Well, hold on a second Phil,
you said the only liability on the team right now fill
uh... what
what was over the
the
known n.l.e. terrorist in fear i mean come on
tubs in the corner
i'm trying to set up a little bit of a deal on hold on
are you set this up i want to hear from tubs about what he thinks about jim fira
that's right my calling card in the past.
Just shooting all the room.
We're keeping the point blank.
Point blank period.
All right.
Can you tell a story about when we, from the heritage a couple years ago?
Yeah, I was like, this is like, I don't know, it's like, it's like, five or six years ago?
No, I'm like, two, three.
Yeah, two? This is a wild, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long heritage just wandering around in a drunken stupor on sundays and we followed Woody
Austin for most of the day. I think this is the same week that Woody, I think the next week
Woody himself in the head with his partner on his head. So, so, so, so,
steering ended up winning in the tournament. like, would you have been winning any kind of ejected down the stretch?
And steering and a win in, and we kind of refuse to believe it.
So at the heritage, like the, the 18th green is kind of out of a little point and the players
have to ride in the golf cart back to the clubhouse.
It's, you know, it's probably a quarter of a mile, a two mile back to the clubhouse. It's probably a quarter of a mile back to the clubhouse, just the residential
stuff. And spirits walking by us, but you know, and him and Swath are on the golf cart,
for what not. And still, and I are just laying into the dude about how he ripped Woody's how you rip what you plag jacket from urban like how you shouldn't be able to sleep
at night. And you're just like, you're just going to be
earth. It was awesome. And from that point forward, I mean, before that, you know, I'd never really been a
spirit fan. And from that point forward, I just just really hated on the got off but I've changed my team guys, you know, I just
either grinder and I think the damage that he inflicted on our national psyche after
the last add it up.
I think he really, really took that to heart.
I don't think he's been the fluke since.
You got to have a little bottom with you.
I want to see some of that.
I think it hurt got to think it hurts
some more than anything that he let down his country because he seems like a
real patriotic kind of guy
i mean blue collar dude you know it's bad swing coaches the only coach he's
ever had i mean he's just a good home like but think he's from the midwest i'm
not sure
but that's not it's going to
be, I'm getting, you know, boom colors, steel pal.
He's a brood and grinder, okay?
He's a grinder.
But I guess my take is, you know what, I think he's, at this point, you know, I read that
silver article about him the other day, thought of the thirty they won't
you know
he seemed like it
really
dedicated guy
and it sounds like he's really
fully dedicated himself to
redeeming himself at the writer cup
earning his way under the team
and then
making making it right
you make it right
but
but yeah
that they've been you make it right you make it right Jim. You make it right.
So, after the Ryder Cup team and to Woody Austin.
Well, look no further than his Ryder Cup record, which is fuck yourself up.
For this one, 8, 15 and 4 career Ryder Cup record.
And 4 ball, 1, 8 and 1. one win in 10 matches in four ball.
I mean, they're so disgusting.
It's, that's a big enough sample to draw a conclusion talk.
I mean, I agree, I don't disagree with what you're saying about him,
you know, wanting it really bad.
And I think it was still, it's the best way to this week, though,
wanting it and achieving it are two extremely different things,
wanting it a ton.
Isn't that so going to help?
There's a lot of least sort of though.
You know what I mean?
I feel like he's centered, you know, kind of going off the civil article.
You sense more, you know, he's playing with more of a lightness about him.
You know, it doesn't seem like he's making it life and death.
I will say this, guys.
I will say this.
I sat down with TA3 about a month
ago. He was just like, there's nothing light to fure it though. He was just like, God,
I can't believe that. I rehearsed everything after a bad shot. It's just a rehearsal over
and over again. But whenever he hits a good shot, he walks right down the fairway. TA3
like that drives me nuts. I hate that. It's like, you hit a bad shot, let it go, quit doing
that rehearsal stuff. I just thought that was an interesting comment from a guy that plays has played alongside him.
It doesn't talk to me.
I remember the third for interview that don't know what the T.H.R. is that for.
Yeah.
And yet, Fierce had a pretty darn solid year.
It's a very pure year.
We haven't seen one of those in a couple of years. He's got one, two, three, four, five, top ten already this year. I didn't play to the rack around
events. He's only played with like 11 tournaments this year. All right, real quick. Let's go down.
Can we go through our picks? Yeah, let's get our captain picked. And as we hadn't mentioned
yet that are in the inside the bubble now, not locked include the final four were just a johnson patch agreed film
echo sent in that johnson and here the first few names that are outside the
cut line as of now jason doffner heres anguish chris kirk ryan more web
Simpson kevin stadler ricky fowler
mad every gerry woodland and then keegan comes in at twenty-eighth right behind
jb hole how about that How about the head of Hunter Mayhem right now?
What is where it is?
Hunter Mayhem.
Who's going to go out on a single's match in that group?
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know. I don't know. I don't heard from him in a while. We haven't.
Well, yeah, you've got a really good reach around,
but yeah, he's cooled off considerably.
I thought you were going to see something from him
at Quill Hall, could be honest.
I think you have to have some northern trust.
One guy in that list that you mentioned outside the bubble,
I love Fowler.
I think he'd fit in well as a younger guy on
the team I think he's playing well I think he I think he plays well in that kind
of setting too but it's just to do what you guys think about that.
I've been I've been bullish on Fowler this year I love the swing changes he's
made I can I don't trust trust someone with greens yet at all.
Well, I say this, so I think the way the Kigin kind of gravitated to fill, and I feel like he's
left like, I don't know who it would be, but I have a swing scholar to play that Robin
to Batman. Yeah. And when it comes down to it, I'm going to take the guy with more substance than
the hope that he blinth they know
gets along well with the team and rouse the team up i'd rather have a guy that
can trust on the dreams that
i've got to be with the reason he can feel that home so well as they played
well together it wasn't just that they were
you know friendly or got along great i mean
fowler's
twenty ten writer cup gets very overrated because he
he'd very last four holds in a single match to have the match to get a half point to keep the match the Ryder Cup alive.
But that was the only half point he won over there. I mean, he got a 20-1 at the time, but...
There's a cat playing the modus up.
I'm not prepared to have an opinion on the big cat for the Ryder Cup. I'm going to have to see him come back and play some golf before I put him on that team.
All right, so there it is.
Solid, I want to hear your four-cassage picks then.
Out of that crew right there.
Rick.
I've got to take three guys right now.
Yeah, three.
Sorry.
I'm taking...I'm going to put Duffner on that team after I just ran to the bow, not
trusting the guy that can't put it.
I'm going to put Woodland on that team and I'm going to take Keegan too.
I feel like I'm not in the support because I feel like experience when you go overseas is important.
I think it's really important.
Woodland is the only guy there that wouldn't be a rookie self-self
anything
i've gone outside the box here
gimme woodland
gimme uh...
gimme paparez
gimme uh...
jones
gimme robert's streb
it's not that i've kind of joking on that last one but honestly I don't want anybody
right now. It's amazing how much it slipped and we haven't had a this is the first year
of peeing we had win a pj tour event this year and all of a sudden it kind of feels like
what's wrong with American golf right now. that mean the tiger fill was in the two biggest locks on the right to compete for the green transition
period though
you know because beyond them to it's like
worse
worse medicare
medicare not even listen to you thought you would lift it on the extreme
what is the name like you said earlier what about
what about the air where stricter web since the life
and it came to the first you know i mean come on like if ryan more could put
all that to be off
yeah he's a
he could take this team easily
i mean that's a big that's amazing the bad putters there are in the top
twenty five
in the right of the next day
so i'll tell
i'll go on i know he's our boy, and we talk about all the time,
but this year is a prime year for Horseshold
to get on a Ryder Cup team.
And I think he'd be really well in a team competition.
Oh, yeah.
You've got to have some really good results between now and then.
But I think he'd be a perfect guy to take over if he was you know at least
someone qualified
yet the more i look at woodland record this year the more i'd he doesn't have any
outstanding result that no top five
but we've got a lot of money on sunday
it's not worried about woodland underpriced uh... his short game
is i worry about woodland underpriced uh... his short game
is i worry about that
guys and ten i i that's the only that scares me about woodland is can you
chip and putt under pressure
yet
guys what about that you said he did still have that you got the bubble right
and i think he would be in either way if you fall down i want him in
i mean that's that's a guarantee how would you not win him on the squad.
All right, all my.
In Fjörr could we go down the, I think the Euro tour point was very
instructive too.
Here I got it from you.
Let me read it.
So Stenson won Sergio to Roderick Muckle Roy Roy III, Bjorn IV, Duby Salon V, Donaldson VI,
Rose VII, Donald VIII, Timer IX, Poulter X, Westwood 11,
Mollinari XII, and then it goes Miguel on Hill.
Galher, they got a club pro Galler Yous Luton
GFC MacDowell Jonas Blix
God give you this euro squad over the Americans
It's so strong
I think I take blix MacDowell GFC who are outside of the Euro team
I would take them as captain picks picks on the UST one thing
Thinking we we have Jason very
That's right. Well, yeah, all right
Ready to move on some right or cup
Yeah, after I want to get off the call that's just depressing
Yeah, it's not and yeah, the fact that's overseas also
I don't know what they may have the button the odds and their odds out on that real not real good right there
Watson Watson very easy is captain's picks strategically man
Get some guys get some young guys on there who might not what about JD homes guys?
Yeah great golf. wrong shit watching me some prospect it's
the guy's he's thinking to go over the next two years did
him experience this year and play for twenty sixteen i guess
get him in the program
yeah as much as much as much as much as i love will mccain the effect that he's
twenty first on the u.s. writer couplets
says that where we're at with american golf right now
well you know that
i don't think that's fair i think we'll be keeping it
pretty damn good
years so far
it's stocked out top ten for
up five finish it even
that's true
he's putting one ball
you have a minute cut in two months
i don't know
i mean he's but working to get the ball out of the rages.
He does work for my inner fear.
It's like a hiking trippy as well.
You know, he could turn it down.
He's making grilled cheese sandwiching on the parking lot.
I love it.
I love that.
He loves his story. All right. Let's one of the stories.
All right.
Let's move on to a topic reader.
I think it was Brian K suggested that as a podcast topic,
talking about guys that have been in what we are terming the wilderness,
which I am about guys that have had extreme success or a lot of success in some way on tour
and then have completely disappeared and then have found their way back.
And we got on it, I see, we got on it basically by talking about Kimer.
And now, he wrote the number one in the world of cell all the way outside the top.
50, now he's obviously on his way back.
We're some other guys out there that have had similar, similar rises
falls and rises back to the top? Sergio, absolutely.
And we should probably preface this by saying this is kind of recent history. We didn't
really grind that back. We're all real up to the young guys.
I would say that I always, I feel like at the beginning of every season, John Daly comes out of the wilderness for like a couple of Thursday or Friday's, and then he goes back into his trailer wherever in Selmer, March. like choice though he's built
he cares
goddard always on the leaderboard like they love it you know it's like he's back
you got a little bit of that
many like Jeremiah Johnson he goes back out there once the mountain
it's just fodder for the plebeans
yeah the problem is like with the entire twenty-twentieth people say that he's on the leaderboard
and he's not really as close to the leaderboard but yeah but i just don't every year whether
it's the retract schedule or early in the year
so that they'll drop a sixty six or sixty eight third day Friday
yeah it's like what we all go out play golf after being off for six or eight
months i always like
feel like i play well for the first like round or two and then i just know
style obviously
yeah you're supposed great you're yeah you know could still do this. I could still do that.
So I guess how daily must be thinking?
Sergio is a very interesting one. I guess I don't point out even the G.
I don't even know if I remember him being number two in the world in 2008.
And E.
Yeah, when he won the, he won the Series, he won the play. He was still top five halfway through 2009
and then it slowly started to fade and then
2010-2011 hit rock bottom. He was ranked 85th in the world at one point
in 2011 and now he's back to being the ninth ranked player
in the eighth ranked player in the world.
You mean all this off from guys? You got Jeff Ogle V?
Yeah, you got to go back. Is he back to the wilderness though?
No, not really.
Ogle V? He's close.
There's a category of guys that there's a separate list of guys that have just gone to the
owners and never came back. Ian Baker finished might be the best ever example of that.
But so I got Ogle over here. He was ninth ranked player in the world beginning of 2010. And
he is now ranked 152nd in the world. I guess so. There and he's coming back.
And he's meaning to the local news.
Yeah, that's probably allegedly allegedly allegedly.
Maybe the most interesting name on this is Henry Stenson.
That guy went dark.
He was, let's see, 2009 began to have to write seven in the world
and beginning of twenty twelve he had fallen to two hundred and twenty second
the world
now he's back to be number one if he would be finished at the top five in the
next term if you did the one player
that's that's ridiculous
alright i got a guy for you wilderness guy
he's actually an alternate this week.
David God.
You know, for Dude 1, the John Deere one year, and then just like forgot how to play.
I mean, dude, I think the alternate with this week is just amazing.
A lot of guys are getting it. is just amazing uh... what i was about that they get
you got uh...
handle who who's
that guys
made more money on port without leaving a p.j. tour of them to make anybody
god
bob gommas
frank liquire tom peries
robert damren
stanko
glende
that's what i think everyone used to see on the leaderboard when you played.
I would read the E out that five. Sean McGeele, Tom Byram, Omar Yoresti,
Arjun Atwall, Ryder Cuppert, Brett Wetterick, Kevin Sutherland,
Vaughn Taylor, Len Matisse, Lee Janssen, Yes, Propornovic. or a heaven-sother one vontailer when metis we jensen yes proponent
i mean
are you i think the o6 writer company might know pretty much
you got
big-mast
on this on this alternate list
and i'll you follow jade on blake
david got that was once ranked a hundred and sixty in the world that's a
high it is he ever got.
And right now he is ranked 1,533rd.
You know, speaking of Stenson, his countryman, Bob Carlson, is currently lost in the wilderness.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's been out of church party for him years ago he's big sweet
what you can't consider that don't was lost in the wilderness there for a while
i think he's still kind of out there
i think you have to lose your card to be lost in the world and he can't walk in the woods
yeah it's easy to it's easy to be like a top five player and then fall to
seventy if or so it's the it's different to do like a stents and drop or even like a Steve
Stricker had a pretty amazing fall off.
I mean he was a consistently late 90s, he was a top 40 and sometimes a top 20 player and
in 2004 he fell to 387th in the world at one point.
And he's been back inside the top 10 forever and I think he's starting to fall off now. He's 16th now.
But that was a pretty, yeah, a tough run there from 04 through about 06.
And many people.
And somehow one back-to-back come back player of the year awards, which I think and officially ended that award.
That's so good.
Wait, he won the back player of the year award?
Yeah, like 06071 back to back co-player of the year.
How do you do that?
They stopped giving the award away after that.
He broke the award. He should have won an award for that shanky at Mary and last year.
Oh my God.
That's the Web Simpson's jealous of that shank.
That's one of the best shanks ever.
I'm going to pick for this week.
Oh, Westwood was in the wilderness for sure.
Oh yeah, definitely. I got to go down that way.
So give us your pick while I look up Westwood.
Ryan Moore.
Okay, let's hear it.
No recent results here.
Going off nothing but form.
Guys been playing well this year.
I feel like he's been knocking on the door for a while.
And he also has a loss in the playoff here.
He has a loss in the playoff here?
Yeah, yeah.
A loss in the playoff here back in, I believe, I believe.
I'm sure he lost. He's less than 50 to one.
I think he's 33 to one.
He lost the playoff here back in.
I got Westwood pulled up here.
From consistently from 98 to 2000, late 2001, he was top five player in the world. He was ranked as highest
number four in April 2001. Then in March of 0... I'm sorry, July of 03, he had fallen 257th
in the world and then made all the way back to number one may be best you may be the best example of the world
westward was number one of the world
yeah and back when in two thousand eleven when like it shuffled between
time or done all then westwood and on like a weekly basis he was number one
for a couple months there actually
that was like a free for all on the
one big cat was still trying to get back at it
i got two names this week, both form plays.
Martin Florey's, you might have heard of him on the Wells Fargo.
He lives in theplex, he's aplex resident.
Guys made quietly going about his business as a mid five straight cuts.
He tied 16, tied 17, third at the Wells Fargo.
And the other guy who, this guy is calm and this guy is charging hard.
I had no idea really anything about him, but Robert Strev is playing golf.
And he's got ugly war droves, but the guy is golfing his ball.
That's a big part of a country, too.
Yeah, once Oklahoma, the big 12-star.
No, he wants to, excuse me, he's born in Oklahoma,
he wants to case date.
He's made eight cuts and eight events,
four top 25s.
Guys, playing.
Oh, we're on Streb, or are we on Florett?
Streb. Strab.
Strab is common.
Strab.
Strab might actually be, like, pretty good.
80 to 1.
How old is he?
I graduated, he's born in 87.
Oh wow.
He just turned 27 earlier this year.
Okay, can we talk about what we saw earlier on video with Niels.
That's a good one.
I'm talking about the slow motor torso.
That will post along with the...
Get it up on Twitter, twitter and that thing is that that was a little quick at the top you know
but what hardy but a little quick at the top
we don't think we're we're real through
we'll throughout
i don't think you're i don't think your transition existed i don't think it
happened
i don't think there was a transition
and i was proud of my head down and i've grinded on the back
and i was fifty forty one so i'm you know what I was proud of my hand down and I grinded on the back. I was 50-41.
So you know what?
It was a refreshing 91.
Maybe I wanted to come back.
It did.
Phil and I drained a 20-foot par put on it on 18.
Do you think it was a little quiet fifth pump?
Like a muted fifth pulse.
I was vocal about it.
I was vocal about it.
There was no quiet.
I felt like quiet about it. It was pure.
Anyway, Saul, you get to pick it and start. All right. My flyer for this week.
It's, I'm trying to think what I like. I like Jeff Overton this week. 81.
So, he's so lazy, so apathetic he's got a history here he's got a couple top 10s here in the last 40 years
he has missed the cut and he's got an empty goth since he finished four in the Zurich
I feel like he is built for one of these events that's not a world class field
I think he can be the in of the blind, who may have
one eye is kidding. I think he's got one eye and I think he's got an eye on this trophy
in the end of the one. So, when I bring it back around with the old allegory there, I
really think that the literary are on the whim. The use is right there is phenomenal. I also like real is T. Chicago this week at
66 for one.
Rayna, but that's solid.
Hey, is Doug P playing this week?
He's not.
Oh, he is actually.
Well, then I think Doug P, I feel like we picked him what, ten times, we're bound to
get one.
Yeah, he's got to keep, got to keep, got to keep it up one down.
I'm playing roulette, you know, I'm going to hit the same numbers until I hit red stabbing red stabbing
and then it's going to hit them.
I'm going to go freaking nuts to the off the.
He's got wind and anything to get on the rider cup team.
I don't want to pick him as a captain's pick.
There you go.
All right. Anybody else have picks? Or should we get to our very last topic? Which will be quick. all that the pick them as a captain's pick. There you go.
All right, anybody else have picked?
Or we should get to our very last topic, which will be quick.
Next topic.
Next topic.
All right, this comes from my Uncle Freddie.
All right, Tiger Woods, the big cat, is, I don't know that he's telling me that.
Supposedly, it's hosting a charity poker tournament for Tiger Woods Foundation this week.
Does Tiger make the final table at his poker tournament? Will he cheat? Will he stack the deck to make
sure he makes the final table? Does he have a poker face? Does he have any gain? What's
just the thoughts? Well, he's definitely got poker face. Have you seen him being interviewed?
Private. Call the patient for it. What did you say say he spent his entire life? He basically does the Tiger
with depression. At this point he's imitating himself. It's performance art and it's really
the highest degree. It's breathtaking, it's phenomenal. I love every media hit he makes.
It's the best. Everything's so woody. Everything's so forced.
I don't think he has real emotions anymore.
It's really good.
It's really good.
That blog post is interesting to me.
I didn't sound like him writing.
Either that or that was really him writing it and nobody edited it.
It was just like all over the place.
Not a chance to read that not a chance
uh... you have a blog on the on-screen you think he knows he has a blog
well i'm sure he's these
flagged are three-way to be that a mess if you want to come on
that's the time and i know you like he hasn't responded yet i don't know if he's
prepared
that's right that will drive out of the area
but that right usually that usually gets back to us pretty quickly.
I think we're small.
I think we're not that good at looking to explain.
We'll follow back up with him.
Maybe I'll shoot him another note.
Can we talk about...
I know there's a poker tournament.
But Tiger Jam... Can we talk about the musical
act that played that year after the end of the list?
I got the list.
Oh, yeah.
This year, let's see.
Let's see who's, the headliner this year is, is this standout group, one republic.
What are we talking about?
What is this?
I'm talking about Tiger Jam.
Can you explain it?
Because I have no idea what it is.
It's like this concert.
This is always then he puts on for his charity.
That's what this poker tournament is a part of too?
Yeah, yeah.
So this year it's one republic
he talked about it in his blog
so the great
well what do i have a graph of the goal of what you're
that's the thing so when we read down this
this all-star list of performers last year
last year you had John Bon Jovi.
2011, you had Pete Urban in John Mayer.
2009, you had No Doub.
2008, you had Van Halen.
It's charity.
You've got to be for the kids, you know?
2007, you had Dauchery.
Dauchery. He had St. Nicholas Dick, Stevie Wonder, and Counting Crow's 2007 you had daughtery dot away he had say you know stick cv wonder and counting
crores and a five and prince and oh four
bon Jovian bon Jovian good all the three
on him to train you know two
third-eye blinded melon camp, 101, Christina Aguilera, Leon Rhymes and Seal in 2000, Celine
Dion in 99, and the Eagles in Hoody and the Blowfish in 98.
That may be his best one.
We need to do an analysis of how good his years were versus how good of an act he got for
Tiger Jam.
Those musical acts, Lackpop, can't play.
I mean, that's...
I think they're more Caucasians than the...
The...
The Boen Asian kind of stuff.
Does the Big Cat wear Carpenter jeans to Tiger Jam?
Yeah.
You should ask your boys over at Gulf Digest.
I disagree.
I bet he wears shorts.
I mean, I could just hear like 2001, third-eyed blind,
you know, the first couple notes like, you know,
with jumper and he's like,
guys, this is my jam jumper.
And I was like, it's's like singing along.
You think Elk has ever been there?
I mean, he's a big vagus guy.
You think Elk has ever been ever to Tiger Dan?
I don't think Elk's type is welcome at these events.
I think this is way too vanilla for elk. Yeah, but but didn't Steinberg put
on the event that he talked about where he saw cat? Oh, down in South Africa? No, that
wasn't vegan. Oh, that wasn't vegan. He said, yeah, my boy Steinberg and more ad.
They put all this event, you know, you know,
bow how was that?
Adam Don and Brad Penny, oh, Brad Penny, he likes to drink and fight.
He had a long, we get a lot of real nice.
This is a great question.
This is a great tradition to our last questions, what we're going to end on.
This is from our Twitter follower, Eric Sean 85.
Who is pulling the best trim on tour?
You can leave married guys out.
Yeah, that's a great question.
J.A.D.
The great kids to have been coming on the athletic great choice right there, Tron. I mean, the guy's passionate about it.
I mean, no, he's married.
I don't know if I'm qualified to answer this question, but no, he's not married right now.
Like, is Will McKinley married?
No, well, no, he's going through a divorce.
He's been fing credits to divorce with
plain a lot better golf
would you go leave Canada there then you know i got a bomb threat yeah i'm curious if
did we saw is in a relationship or more of a bachelor and an actual playboy if you will
he i mean he's got the looks i feel think i'll tell you who i want to know
you have to know what kind of a mechanic is pulling
he's got married
he's got married
no way
i think in the
fifty million
the next one
it's my fiat topic for another
another
so i thought i a guy agree that he's going out of the old browns girl This might be a topic for another guy I agree with.
He's still going out with the old browns girl.
He's very Christian too.
He's got a lot of work.
He's like fever out there.
I don't know if he's catalyzed an arm pedal.
He doesn't seem like that type to me.
Honestly, we don't have any good GFC.
I see in a relationship.
Yeah, he's probably got seven girlfriends too.
What about what about Whitland? I don't think we're in
any of these in games. He's in game.
Aren't you guys watching the.
You see he's got a lot of downcock in his swing.
That's for sure.
Dude, the mechanic is two kids.
We got a guy like a Torbjörn-Ollisson.
Torbjörn, I bet he does well for himself.
The Thunder Bear.
I bet he's a good looking cat.
He resides in London.
I bet he's just...
I can't even imagine. He can't even imagine Here's our winner
Truthfully a lot of these guys are not necessarily the best players
Oh, I agree here's our guy. I have no idea if he's married or not Martin Flores
Oh great lettuce with that hair. How could you not be Dallas? He probably cleans up on the
Overlives. I'm scrolling down this list. You know who, he probably cleans up on the older ladies. I'm scrolling down
this list. You know, who had that cleared, cleans up on the older ladies just harming
you know? I don't know. This could be a good topic to go into for a minute. We're going
to have to go deeper on this next one. Why not do the racers? What about you, how about
you, how about you, you do a champion for person in this? The realtor deeper. Everybody
that's still listening, you know know God's need. Yeah seriously.
I actually feel bad for anyone that's still listening.
We're going on the hour.
What about Ben?
You think Ben's wrong game?
Ben has a no long-term girlfriend.
Yeah we met on a show.
After remember when Ben wasn't going to sign that kid's hat and his
pants were like come on Ben he's serious.
And then his girl was like, hey, she should do it.
I think she should do it.
OK, for all of it, I'm going to lose.
Oh, he says good.
I think we got it from a famous thing.
I saw it at the Heritage.
That right there, that interaction, other than,
and I didn't see what happened between Phil and Ricky Barnes.
That's for another podcast.
But the spent interaction was was very very strong
my favorite might have been some some little kids thinking that Jeff Ogleby was
Kevin Kissner and it has to be why Jeff Ogleby is in the wilderness right now
you have to know how Kevin Kissner has been playing so well for the last four weeks
he's been on fire he thinks he's a US Open Champion
he's playing to get best golfers in his career right now.
Well, whoever lasts this long again, thank you.
Thanks to everyone who's sent in questions.
Keep sending them in.
We will get to them even if it takes us a couple of weeks.
That wilderness question was a great one.
We can talk about that for even longer that we did.
But thanks everyone for tuning in. We'll have the preview roll and show you this week, and hopefully get another winner for you.
God's good. Peace out.
See you guys.
See you.
