I'm going to be the right club today.
Yeah!
That's better than most.
How about in?
That is better than most.
Better than most. From my vacation and I thought you did a great job. How's the vacation? You know, it was great, man. It was good to see some family good to unplug put the phone away
But what I really missed was bitching about the TV coverage with you guys. That's that's what really fills up my tank
I mean, yeah, I'm happy to be here. Welcome back. Thank you very much
Randy a lot of feet of putts made today. I had it. I had it pulled up. I knew you were gonna ask a tiger made
70 feet today. Why? Brison made more than that on 18.
And with the. Well, it's just my, my glutes are shutting off. Um, the fact that we didn't
get a, couldn't make any puts from tiger makes the whole week feel like a little bit of a
waste. That was the other. That's tired was hitting. like they weren't even, they weren't even in the realm.
Legitimately made me think of the GIF every time
of that dude just chucking up threes over the backboard.
Like they were not even in the vicinity of the whole.
Tyger's not the story.
Of course the biggest story of the day,
Bryson Bryson, he's back, baby.
The big golfer is back.
We're not giving up.
He's only three back going in and tomorrow and I legitimately think he's gonna win. I've never lost faith. The big golfer is back. We're not giving up. He's only three back going into tomorrow
and I legit really think he's gonna win.
I've never lost faith.
You're more.
No way.
He's never finished top 10 in a major.
There's a reason why.
Until tomorrow.
Does he seem like the same golfer he's did in the past?
What a horrible.
What a new era.
There are many blocks.
You could have, you could have quartered off there
and you chose the wrong one.
He's still the same.
Remember when people said Tigers never come
from behind to win a major?
Exactly. Different golfer now. What was that? I'd love for him to win. I just, he's not gonna win. He's still the same. Remember when people said Tigers never come from behind to win a major? Exactly. Different golfer now. What was that?
I'd love for him to win. I just, he's not going to win.
He's not going to win. No, he's not going to win.
Who is going to win?
Bryson.
God, it feels like Dustin's going to win.
He's playing for his life tomorrow.
He's the good to see. What does that mean?
Oh, you're all right.
Totally reset. Can you start from the beginning?
Oh, my God. What are you talking about there?
He was, he's been in hospice.
He's gotten an ex, you know,
he was on an experimental drug therapy
that extended his life here.
I was, I was even maybe back up a little bit
before that.
He was on the hydrochloric clean, whatever it is.
He's been, he's been,
severely, first of all, Rory, Rory departed.
And then Dustin was given his last rights and he's been a fighter.
But this was his last major.
No, I thought he has the whole year.
No, we came to some.
No, no, he said the whole year plus next year's open championship.
Yes.
Yes.
Yeah, you're, but not, but not next year's PGA.
Correct.
He has these three majors and next year's open championship.
This is last PGA.
Yes.
This is his last PGA.
Which is big because the PGA is where, Kioa next year?
Who could, yeah, Kioa.
He's what I say.
Practically a home game for me, Kioa.
That's true. That's true.
We see how much the home field advantage is paid off this week for Colin Moore, Cala.
And Cameron Chan.
And Tron, not impressed with Colin Morecow's putting performance.
That's fun.
I mean, we're only 75% of the way there.
You know, I was a little shook by the same thing
at Colonial, right?
I believe you said in the,
astutely said in the first live show,
you know, hey, let's look for some stats.
What are maybe some guys doing who are, you know,
not used to doing those things.
More a cow at putting his face off. Do we think that's gonna hold up some guys doing who are, you know, not used to doing those things. More Kawah putting his face off.
Do we think that's gonna hold up tomorrow?
We'll see.
I don't think he's gonna end it second
in the field in Strokes game,
putting which he was, I think,
when he finished his round,
I forget where he is.
He's third today.
He's third today.
Third three for the week.
T-3 for the week.
I don't think he,
but if he gains strokes tomorrow,
I think he is obviously a very good teacher.
Some of it probably is familiarity with,
you know, putting on this type of grass. I would say day one, though, practically
home. You can fake it for one day. You can't fake it for three or four days. It was the
point of that saying, like, Zach Johnson is probably not going to stick around. And I
think that paid out pretty well. I think you can fake certain things for four days.
Who's, is anybody faking it up there right now? I mean, Todd Hamilton has a major. Sean
McEill has a major.
Yeah.
That's a different era.
Danny Will has a major.
You can't fake it on this golf course.
Like, if you don't hit it long and straight, you are gone.
There's not one guy in the top 10 that is not a long.
Well, I guess we're having two different conversations
because I'm talking about like, you statistically,
you can be really good for four days.
Yes.
Where that might be a little little like a total of normal.
Yeah.
Yeah. Whereas I think what you're saying is like you can't be shitty statistically within the
four-day tournament.
It's obviously a lot less likely than one for four days.
Which that of course I agree with.
But can we go straight to Phil just putting Fowdo in a body bag?
How invigorating was that?
That was easily the most entertaining hour of the day.
If the entire CBS crew was,
it was like they had a new lease on life.
Everybody was bouncing around and had,
you pep in their staff and-
Yes, yes.
They were playing in the same game.
They were playing in their own field of thought.
They were dead.
Fowdo didn't speak, I said he didn't speak for like 15 minutes,
but you pointed out that he did say beautiful.
Yeah, everyone, one of the shifterships with like 10 feet by.
It started poorly because he walked into Michelson's
little joke like a child wandering into traffic.
He's like, what's the third thing?
Wait, you didn't say the third thing.
It was so awkward.
It was so awkward.
And then I still don't get the joke.
There were a couple of jokes in there
that I didn't get in his defense.
One, they're talking about Dustin Johnson's short putting
and Phil was like, oh yeah, he hasn't missed one of these
in three years and six months,
which I thought was just Phil doing really bad math
on Chambers Bay.
I think he might have been, was how I took it.
Cause that was five years ago, that way it would be close.
So I went and looked up what tournament was three years
six months ago.
Only according to the normal calendar though,
which Phil does not subscribe to.
DJ won like a weird mind calendar.
DJ one like everything in that month, three years and six months ago.
So I don't know what he was, what he was all about.
Oh yeah, maybe, you know, he hasn't been quite the same.
But then he's, whatever he's doing and then Fowdo's like,
oh yeah, like you, Nick, like you were a great lag putter.
You always liked it up there and Fowdo's like, yeah,
I was on the outside of 45 feet one time, right?
And Phil's like, yeah, you didn't get my joke,
I didn't get yours.
I don't know what you're going for there, but let's keep moving.
I mean, it was definitely an audition.
Like, you know Phil wants to be a broadcaster,
he likes attention, he likes...
I didn't know that candidly.
I didn't know that.
I didn't know that.
I mean, it's kind of like one of those things,
like, you know, Tom Hanks didn't even have to audition
for the role when he came in and auditioned anyways.
And just blew everyone away.
That's pretty much what happened.
He did not have to audition.
I think Plus Fills lost like 50 pounds for the role,
also.
I think Fills wants to, I think Phil thinks he's,
he's Romo.
He was trying to predict stuff today.
I think I just don't think they can pay Phil enough
to do it.
Definitely don't think they can.
They got to give him like ownership,
part ownership in the company or something like that.
Yeah.
What are you saying?
I wanted this crowbar in a Daniel Day Lewis reference.
But everybody should go see Phantom.
Phantom Thread, that's one of me and Randy's favorites.
Randy, you want to point that mic a little more
towards your face there, but I would love to open you.
You got great takes.
I want people to be able to hear.
Now you're too far the other way.
You're just right at the mic. I want to try that, your face. The mic doesn't like you. I want people to be able to hear. Um, now you're too far the other way. You're just right at the end.
Oh, the mic doesn't like you.
Sorry. We got to tighten that bad boy out.
Let's start at the beginning with Phil.
No, but it was a lease on life for people on Twitter.
Oh, yeah. You know, it was like, holy shit.
This is what a golf telecast could be like.
Kind of fun and, you know, airy and things.
And learning stuff.
Really learning. And then, yeah, you go back to Faldo and say, wait, wait, what's this guy talking about?
I was blown away that it felt like a trap
when it first came on.
I was like, all right, Phil is one of the greatest players
of all time.
It's the week of a major.
He just got done playing the golf course
and like, what do you mean?
He's just gonna like sit there and like give insight?
No, that's a trap. There's just gonna like sit there and like give insight. Like what, no, that's, this is a trap.
There's something for sale or there's something like going on.
What is, he did talk about the sunglasses.
He did, but he was asked about the sunglasses.
I was gonna say, they did the work for him on that one.
But it turned out to just be a spectacular addition
to the broadcast so Kudos to everybody who made it happen.
I don't know if it was just,
if it was in audition to replace Fowldo,
it could end up being one of the great cuckings of our time
and just totally, in real time,
just completely public cucking.
Fowldo's your neighbor.
He is my neighbor.
You worried, like, I mean,
he's already been playing tennis by himself
out in the front yard.
He's driving away by himself
and he might have a lot more time.
Are you worried about him?
No, well, it's mostly moving.
Supposedly he's moving. It's mostly moving.
It's mostly moving.
But the fact that Fauto cited how many, you know,
Phil didn't have as many majors as he did,
just like proves everything we thought about Fauto,
what do you think's about the role?
The fact that, like, I'm a six-time major winner,
like whatever I say is gotta be gold.
It's gotta be better than what this guy can say, right?
How price and running in a 94 footer on 18
to get back in the contention in the first thing Fowl said was to pump his CBS extra.
Everybody tune in to my fucking whatever tomorrow
where I give him a potting lesson.
God, it was a fantastic, it was a body bag.
So, all right, I don't wanna let this distract us
from the real issues.
Like CBS was fucking horrible again.
So you guys got very triggered by this.
I'm completely at peace.
It just felt like it was ever.
I won't let this slide.
Exactly, that's the problem.
That's fine if you do that with the PGA tour bullshit.
You cannot take the majors away from us.
I, this is on you guys for expecting more.
Disgrace.
There's absolute, no.
You are giving them credit for, you know,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
give them, bring them, bringing them to the office.
Oh yes.
That is literally the only thing they have done differently
than a normal PGA tour event.
They kept showing that scenic shot above the clouds
and it was like guys, like this isn't even interesting
when I'm peering out my airplane window,
when I'm bored and you keep showing it to us
just in the middle of a montage,
every shot was seemingly taped.
Oh, every shot is taped.
If you follow a shot tracker, it will prove it.
Oh, DJ was like, yeah, I think that shot was like six minutes ago.
Listen, there's a lot of guys in the hunt, who knows?
I don't know.
I'm happy to rip on CBS, but it's not really sport at this point.
We say the same shit every week.
There's a lot of commercial stuff.
I think a lot of different information. I think a lot of different.
They just lost track of half the guys in contention.
But for sure.
Like it was the do the same thing every week.
I don't know what you guys were expecting.
That's all I'm saying.
I think it's just so jarring after seeing ESPN.
Oh yeah.
And you know, I mean, I was expecting different.
You could tune into any of the live streams online
and you would see more golf on one whole live stream
For sure why do you keep supporting CBS DJ? Why do you keep defending them? I'm not defending them
I'm just completely apathetic at this point. It's complete nihilism
Just yeah, yeah, if you got keep fighting the fight man. What do you think is gonna change? You're on team hard cam
That's what you're yeah, do you know how much a fucking hard cam cost? Do you have any idea?
The hard cams are there.
That's the thing.
Kidding.
I don't know.
I don't know what you,
I'm gonna stick to the cards.
Do you guys feel better?
Do you guys want to say anything else about CME?
Yes.
I just want to make you feel better.
I feel a little bit better having said that,
but I, whatever.
I don't know.
It's horrible.
I will say, I bear bears repeating that how much better
I thought the rest of the crew got when Phil was in the booth.
Yes, it was amazing how he just totally unlocked.
I thought Dottie got way better.
He started throwing it to Dottie,
like you've been doing it for 10 years.
Ian Baker Finch, who is always kind of,
you know, not the most exhilarating guy in the world,
totally nice bloke, but every time it's always a lot of like,
and here you see this person on this tee,
and even today he's talking, he's given a bunch of insights
and playing off Phil and like,
hey Phil, what do you think about this, right?
Like this is about to do this, absolutely.
He and exactly right.
I think everybody was coming out of their shell a little bit.
It was great.
I thought Phil's first 10, 15 minutes,
everyone was praising how great it was,
and I thought it was very pedestrian.
He looked timid, he just wasn't,
he wasn't seeing his lines quite yet.
And then he sent it.
He got in a groove, started feeling,
he was feeling himself, which is my concern.
If he's in there for like an extended period,
is that it will get, it's gonna turn into the Phil show.
And then I think once you get beyond the initial,
like burst of, you know, inertia,
when he's going back to the well,
it's gonna be like, all right, we heard this one. He's got such a deeper well than like Asian of inertia. When he's going back to the well, it's gonna be like,
all right, we've heard this one.
He's got such a deeper well than like,
as he does.
He thinks he's gonna do it.
That was the homework and put in the work.
I do.
He cares about what people think about his intelligence.
Way too much to mail it in.
The pushback was like,
everybody said that was like the Johnny Miller show, right?
Yeah, true.
I would, like, I'm begging for that back.
Oh, for sure.
Please give me that back.
And I think the more Phil, like gets away from playing
every week and starts feeling himself,
he's gonna start getting into some guys too,
I think, which would be the way they can pay Phil.
Like there's just no way.
You know, if they let Phil do the CEO interviews,
too, that would be the ultimate.
Well, I thought you made a really good point about,
there's no way he's gonna wanna be on the road.
He's probably gonna have to do this either from home.
Which they proven you can do this, totally.
I think he's played all the golf courses on tour enough times.
Like a major would theoretically be kind of the hardest one
because he would have played Harding Bark so much fewer times.
But he could do Colonial tomorrow.
He could do, you know, all these different golf courses,
he's played a million times.
But if you did want to go on the road,
it's like, man, bring him out there,
put him in the program,
pair him with like some CEO,
and get him out there talking to guys,
like I, he's basically just be like a mascot out there.
And talking about, you know,
what we were saying after the,
was it SVP pod, about, or the Joe Buck pod. Sorry about basically talking,
you know, they should have a production meeting. They should get more guys,
yeah, you know, talking to players like that's Phil. These are mole. Get them out
there. Just, oh, yeah. This guy's actually working on this this week. I got guys.
None of this matters because Phil's going to go play the PGL. Yeah, that's very
important. Or he's going to do a gap year next, where he, you know, I don't know.
All right, we'll see.
Leader board.
First of all, Dustin Johnson.
Honestly, first I'm hearing of this,
taking the lead of this golf tournament.
He was clear about time.
He was one under when he turned yesterday
and then made three birdies in the back.
I'm sorry, he was, yeah, one under return yesterday
made four birdies on the back nine on Saturday,
made four birdies on the front nine today,
made four more birdies on the back nine today.
12 birdies last 27 holes to take the lead.
So lead nine under par leading the field and strokes game putting that sustainable.
Well, yeah, because he's a great part.
How about the historically great butter, DJ historically great butter.
He's really good.
He's a very good butter.
I'm happy.
The numbers will bear that out.
I mean, he's not like he is live on tour every year, but he's going to love out. He's much better good putter. I'm happy the numbers will bear that out. I mean, he's not like, he is live on tour every year,
but he's gonna love that.
He's much better than people think.
Yes.
Fill back me up on that.
He said that on the broadcast.
He's a tremendous lag putter.
You guys, you guys riff for a little bit
while I look that up.
I'm gonna need a very good.
All right.
Faldow, if you feel like you need to dunk on me
on this one, you go ahead and look it up.
We haven't mentioned him yet.
Let's just bite the bullet, guys. ahead and look it up. So we haven't mentioned him yet. Let's just bite the bullet guys.
Scotty Shaffer.
So, Ollie, you need to do a Paul J.
I saw we're awaiting your Paul J.
I had no idea that he was this good at golf.
I've rooted so hard against him for so long.
I can't stand the guy.
There's nothing I like about him.
And for that, I apologize.
I mean, I was just, I was way off of this
but I did not see this coming in any way.
And trying to you were right, I was wrong.
I'm smart, you're dumb.
Like, everything you could possibly what?
That's very cool.
You're smart.
I'm smart.
You're not going to take that back.
DJ is 129th in Strokes Game Pudding this year.
He said historically, he was 74th the year before.
He was 25th the year before that he has 25 wins
Major he's a Hall of Famer 96 before that he's got all faithful back on back to exactly he can overlook that
71st 82nd. I wouldn't call him historically
I may have overreached on how it but when it counts I feel like a generational lag putter. I feel like
Okay, I can't that's what I meant to say.
I'm going to have a hard time looking at what I'm going to do.
How about the fact that he lost his yardage book?
Oh, yeah. That's it.
From on site, he scrambled to try to find it on the first toll.
Couldn't find it and had to have shock that he had a backup yardage book.
But those dudes do take a lot of notes in there.
I don't know how much he uses it.
I don't know how much Austin uses it, but... Maybe that's why he played so well.
It might have helped him.
Who could say?
Literally who could say?
But seriously, talk about Scotty Schuffler.
He's in a tough spot tomorrow.
Scotty?
Yeah, I think so.
I mean...
He's normally not good on a side anyway, too.
He's playing with an alpha.
I mean...
It's a tough spot.
I'll be curious to see, you know,
we'll just see what happens.
But, you know, if my gut says 73, 74 tomorrow for...
I feel like he's not going to get all that worked up though.
Right?
He's a pretty cool customer, pretty cool cat.
Is 73, 74 going to be out there tomorrow?
Because it was not out there this afternoon.
And that course got way, way easier this afternoon
than I thought it was going to.
Well, you know who did shoot.
How long shot 73?
You can be careful what you're about to say, Jonathan.
He lost his ball in a tree, though.
I was stunned to see how Songlu some energy
down the stretch.
I did just did not see that coming.
I don't know who could have possibly predicted that.
I mean, solid year point, the Lonto shot, 38 on the back today.
Listen, no one said Lonto was going to do anything this week.
Well, actually, yeah, we had a wager last night.
Yeah, you forced me into it.
You had a gun in my head.
Was it Shaftler versus Lonto?
Shaftler versus Lonto, and I'm spotting him a shot.
Currently, currently Shaftler is five.
Five ahead.
I'm not worried.
I'm worried.
I'm not worried. I'm worried. I'm very worried. So yeah, the guy, I mean,
obviously the dudes that played well should get rewarded. I'm not saying anything otherwise,
but like the dudes that were out early this morning got another raw end of the deal. They
played through way tougher conditions. That's why I thought can't lay polter and JT were
going to get in the house with really good rounds and then everyone, it was going to be a
scrambled a hold on this afternoon. Can you apologize for JT? I will in the house with really good rounds and then everyone it was gonna be a scramble to hold on this afternoon.
Can you apologize for JT?
I will not. I don't know what you...
That was like a 62 waiting to have.
You see how hard it got on the back nine for those guys?
Yeah, you kind of...
I don't know.
No excuses.
He bogeyed the holes you probably should bogey.
He was 500 through seven and then bogeyed 8 and 9.
He parred like 12 through 14.
I'm pretty sure.
And then he made a bad bogey, a couple bad bogeys coming in.
But that win was getting spicy around that.
Yeah, and they were firming up and all the, all the pins were on like little
subtle ridges and you couldn't get it close and you're thinking, all right,
this is going to be carnage this afternoon.
It did not get that way.
It was just pointy to talk about the existential crisis that was the JT
spieth pairing today. Oh, it's time. That was tough. Although I do want to say I
don't know if spieth told Greller to go for Cadi or if Greller said, Jordan, I'm
gonna go for Cadi because I don't want fucking watch you play golf anymore.
Like, could also just be. Why don't you take a little bit of time to think about what you've done?
Catties also do this sometimes
where they take different routes than the players take.
A guy will go back to AT.
And that, they didn't really,
they didn't expand on what happened on that at all.
He said, he sent Greller to go for Cattie,
which I've never seen before
when I've seen plenty of Catties do that.
They do it seven and Memorial all the time.
So, I don't know what the real story was there,
but I don't think there was anything to that.
It's fun to, it's fun to fit your narrative, but.
Yeah, I just, I think we need to liberate Michael.
That's all.
What does that even, I think speech of fire is asked.
Maybe that, yeah.
That's a fire is asked.
Fine, either way.
Actually, no, I think they should stay together.
This is gonna be a blip in the radar of a historic career.
Well, to again reiterate how refreshing ESPN is when like Duval and those guys were talking
about it this morning, like Duval was kind of saying what we were saying on Thursday's
episode, which was like, it's not Cameron McCormick's fault, but like something's not right
here.
The blame is not on the coach, but the matchup is not working right here.
You would never hear that on a PGA tour broadcast.
Like no chance, you ever would.
I mean, it's like everyone's thinking that
and kind of wondering what the deal is here.
They just said he needs like a fresh start,
needs a fresh reset of some kind.
Dude, I'm probably listening to David Duval
on something like that, right?
I mean, who else is inside on that?
Like a current announcer?
To the wilderness?
To be Ian Baker Finch for now Twitter to the wilderness? Yeah.
I mean Ian Baker finished for every week,
the last 40 weeks.
Yeah, but he hides in a shell.
Like he doesn't say any of that.
So I really appreciated that.
I thought that was, that was good viewing this morning.
Being serious for sec, he looked so freaking lost and jittery
and seeing him.
I mean, he was like 10 shots down at JT through, what, like, nine holes?
It was incredible.
I'd like to hear, like, a legit coach somewhere,
like, break it down.
Like, what, everyone's like, oh, it's, yeah,
it's a fundamental thing, like, it's a physical,
I couldn't, I can't pick that out.
I have no idea what it might be,
but I want to hear somebody, it's a combination
of mental physical, right?
You can't just have mental problems
with the great swing and it go poorly.
Like that's not how it works.
Like he's not swinging it well.
It's not like he had a fundamentally,
like not solid swing, but like a fundamentally,
you didn't have the technically perfect swing
start with.
Yeah, it's like he was coming from a weird place anyway
that worked for him.
So when that stops working for him,
where do you go from that?
And it's got to put a ton of burden on the coach,
I would think, when that's the case,
it's like, all right, we got to come up with another
kind of weird swing that feels perfect to you.
Like that's the hardest thing to do.
Especially when the coach has worked with him
since he was like 12.
12, right?
Two things.
One, we're overlooking somebody else in the equation
who either may need to be fired or maybe need to
fire Jordan.
Annie.
He hasn't won since Annie's been in the picture.
Oh, don't be like that.
No, since I got married.
Yeah, they did.
They did.
She's been a big fool.
Oh, don't be like, just say it.
You're a dick.
You're a bad guy.
Just, of course, I'm joking.
But more seriously, what do you think he has to shoot tomorrow? What are you saying? 54? You're sick. You're sick. You're sick. You're sick. You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick.
You're sick. You're sick. You're sick. You're sick. You're sick. marker, is it Sun King or is it Jordan? I think it's Sun King, but I'm not sure. It is Sun King, yes it is.
The pairings are out officially.
First of all, everyone on Twitter thinks
they can guess what the pairings are gonna be.
Nobody had any idea, everyone's like,
oh yeah, it's gonna be Brooks and Bryson, it's gonna be,
no, why are you so confused?
I was telling you the whole time what the pairings were gonna be.
I said everyone on Twitter was like,
it Brooks makes Bernie here, it's the dream pairing.
You want it.
You want it.
You believe Twitter over big rain. Exactly, I was just dedicated to life to this crap. Exactly. that's the dream pairing. You want it. You want it, insulting that you believe Twitter over big green. Exactly.
I was dedicated to life to this crap.
Exactly.
Well, who's the big golfer playing with?
The big golfer is with Finau.
Another big golfer.
Their apps, not even at 120 PM.
Local time.
Paul Casey Brooks, Kepp go 130, Cam Champ,
Colin Moore, Cala at 140, DJ and Scotty Sheffler at 50.
Practically a home game.
Where do you guys see in these?
Guys, I got news for you.
Speed one out, blow up.
Four sunkenes today.
So, Speed will be with the marker.
So bad news, but sunkenes with the marker.
Well, that doesn't make sense,
because Speed's not performed today.
You're making my point.
Nobody knows how to do this.
First in, last out.
Yeah, Speed was out earlier, right?
Speed played.
Oh, right.
See, nobody knows how to do that.
No, that was a test.
So you got it passed.
Now I'm making sure you guys are learning.
Berger, Fleetwood, at one.
By all accounts, Mackenzie Hughes was a total gentleman
to our man Tom today.
Yeah, how about that?
How about Tom getting to play as the marker?
He was our non-competitive marker of sorts
for our championship match of Taurus sauce.
And now, you know, filling in the gaps with the PJ championship.
Can we, with our guy Joe on the back, if he said if it was John Norris tomorrow,
or other, uh, can we comment on, uh, it ended poorly.
Bryson, like, he steered it like 85% of the way there.
His post-round interview, he's talking about like, I felt like his demeanor has been different
all week. And he finally, he said, I feel like I always like treat myself
like I'm an unlucky guy.
Like I'm just so unlucky and it seemed like he had found
some perspective on the, maybe that's not the case
every week.
There's no way that's just people coaching him up
on saying the right shit.
We could be in the midst of a year of rejoicing.
And then he steers it in with, I just wish people
would really kind of appreciate what I'm trying to do for the sport exactly
It's because of my passion. Yeah for the pat because my path is the guy who's whose agent or himself whatever they call he he called
PGA tour player relations and made them have CBS take the
Video down which it seems like they've actually doubled down the golf central was playing it that those highlights on repeat and
CBS even like mentioned them a second time which to their credit was pretty so you see that LPJ had a little hot mic
Situation today Lexi Thompson or caddy bigot foot of Bryson
Randy you're all over the F1 odds man. Oh, yeah, we got it. It's great. I can talk about him at the end of the show
He's been ten times deeper into that than he has the golf stuff.
How about Brooks Capkud?
Did we talk about him enough?
Is he going to win?
How about the fact that he's going for a man ski this week?
He's a full man ski.
Back to back to back national club bro champion.
And it feels very under the radar still.
It's crazy.
How many back is he?
Three, two, two.
Non-Tiger slam. would this be the greatest golf achievement
in our really good question?
In our livelihood?
No, I think Dustin Johnson's.
Oh, of course.
That's right.
18th hole.
70 second hole at Ed Oakmont was probably the best
accomplishment.
Hi, man, that's a really good question, Sally.
Try explaining, just like try your best to explain how he wouldn't be in a feature group the first two days.
Yeah, that's wild.
What's more impressive, him going back to back to back
at the PGA or Spieth, of course, in a homer,
winning the first two and then getting within a struggle
of a playoff at the third and then finishing second
and then finishing.
Yeah.
Spieth.
I'd say, speed the apologize to JT. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
So I couldn't get it. No, I couldn't. It was like, you're like, oh, good plan, but sorry,
I couldn't get in. I cost you the moment, some moment, or something like that.
Which like when you're playing a GD, yeah, I don't be issued a statement. Yeah.
I'm a master to my best friend. I have a disgrace. I'm so deeply sorry for what I've
put you through today. No, it was like very innocent, I thought so.
But Paul Casey, I really have a lot to add.
I'm kind of on the linger on that question.
That's a really good question.
What's that?
Would Brooks winning back-to-back, to back-to-back PGA's be the most?
I think Pajra.
Non-Tiger slam.
Pajra won what three of four at one point?
He won three of six.
No, he won three of six.
Six, yeah.
He won two opens and a PGA from a 708.
Yeah, winning different PGA's is impressive
because there are different courses.
It's one thing to win masters.
No one wins three masters in a row either.
I mean, it's wild and it is not played up enough.
And he also went back to back to the US Open
and finished second.
I don't know how, I don't know how it's not a big deal.
What would they respond for that too?
I don't know why it's not a bigger deal to us even.
That's a fair question.
Can you apologize for the rib now?
I feel like I'm on an apology tour.
What am I, what am I apologizing for?
It's very cool of you to do that.
He looked fucking terrible today.
Why am I apologizing for that?
Because you ride for him.
I think you should.
You ride for him. No, you said you didn't have the guts to pronounce that. You picked him.
You picked him. I also picked him as the guy that couldn't win. No, you bailed on that one.
You said Bryson won't win. I still think Bryson's not going to win. You should apologize for both
of those things. No, Rory, like the, the, the, some of the, like, the muff trip that he had at one
point, some of the wedges he hits, some of the pots,
I just, I don't get it, man.
Will Rory finish T8.
How many back is he?
He is, he's plus one.
T43 plus one.
I don't think he's getting that high.
That's, there's a lot of guys in front of him.
There's some birdies ahead for Rory tomorrow.
The way on there's that.
What is his long due to that?
He got shlonged.
There was not a shlonging, but he got shlonged. He was the shlonging. He was the shlonged. There was not a shlonging, but he got shlonged.
He was the shlonging.
He was the shlonging.
He's the shlonging.
He's the shlonger.
He's been with Bubba tomorrow.
You speak to the year of rejoicing?
Yeah.
Has Bubba's life coach been on the ground this week?
I haven't seen him.
Jason Day fell back on the life coach.
Bubba's life coach might steer another people
to a title to one.
Cloud Harman.
Yeah.
What about Fienaal?
What about Fienaal?
I think he's right where he wants to be.
On DJ, to me this feels like another chapter
in the book of something dumb's gonna happen tomorrow to him.
I saw that we already got the losing a ball
on a tree out of the system.
Did he do that?
No, I feel like that was...
I'm out of enforcement for tomorrow. Yeah, like No, I feel like that was... How tongue does that? I might have been foreshadowing for tomorrow.
Yeah.
So what it's gonna have?
That's what a per...
I really like Dustin.
I root for him to win.
Don't say it.
But like, what up?
No, don't do this.
What a like picture perfect thing.
Like, yeah, he had that weird bunker thing
and the memories fucking ball got stuck in that tree.
And he lost.
That was crazy.
Then the USJK came in and tried to penalty.
Yeah.
Okay, I got a question.
That feels like it might happen.
What's more likely, Dustin shoots 73 and just gives it up or somebody is able to run
him down and just beat him.
Somebody runs him down.
And who is that person?
Bryson.
Brugs.
Brugs.
Over Moorakawa.
Over.
Why do you guys hate scam champs so much?
Over scam champ.
Champ look really freaking good he did until
Was that 15 15 he got boned up a little bit. He got you know, we don't know what happened though, too
He played 18 very nicely. Yeah, very handsomely. He was silky. He's a survivor. That's another one though
I'm that's interesting could be the first COVID survivor to win, which a major are the COVID antibodies that new PED.
You should still a lot of people are saying you should be suspended right now,
but we're not going to talk about it. Can anybody at 600 win? That's the
question. Yeah. Oh, for sure. Bryson. All right. Where are they going to put the
pins to? I don't know why you guys are laughing at this.
All right. Just somebody needs a bunch of firepower on a Bombers golf course to make a bunch of
birdies.
Tony Fienau, right there.
Minus six.
He's putting struggle with great power.
They're going to set like where are they going to put the pins tomorrow because I feel
like they've tucked the pins in all the spots behind the bunkers in the back of the
bridge.
I just birdie fest nace tomorrow.
Just that would suck.
Or if that'd be awesome. Bernie Fest nays tomorrow Just that would suck
Or if that'd be awesome if like if you guys are going on shouldn't 61 see if there's like five
62s on the board that he said
There's five of the greatest ever shot 62 in a major there might be five tomorrow
Awesome, I mean, we were remarkable. It was really sweet. Trudd's victory lap on JT's 62 today was fantastic.
He was a big deal.
He was through a big shot 62.
He was what, like, four, he was five under through seven.
Yeah, I still think they should flip the nine tomorrow.
But not telling anybody until they show up.
That would be so sick.
Oh, how tongue.
We're actually, we're actually going this way.
This way, chief.
Yeah.
Really you start back.
Going back. Fina.
He shot 67 today. I mean, it's not like he's hitting the shit out of the noise playing exceptionally. Yeah.
I don't not really going to be in.
Yeah, this feels like the CBLs.
Yeah, there's very many commercials.
Justin Rose.
Justin Rosen, day and burger, all three of those guys, and Fleetwood for that matter,
all lacked pop today.
Justin Rose did not lack pop vis-a-vis his caddy.
Looks like he was going to nuke the guy out the first the whole headbutt.
Well, headbutt.
He's going to have the little headbutt, yeah.
Just graceful what they did to tell me Fleetwood.
They massacred our boy.
They did.
I mean, I know he didn't have a great day today, and I know he kind of saved it with two
birdies near the end, but that was
Embarrassment speaking of a guy who can who can black out tomorrow make a ton of birdies
Final round 62. Yeah, he may have already fired that but he bowl with though. That's true. He did shoot 64 on Friday
But he you know, he feels like he may have a people of Damon's square card good morning
Feel like like Damon's done some wild shit. He has done some live shit.
He was got it to six under yesterday,
playing his 54th hole, he tripled it,
open with a birdie today, birdied seven,
eagle 10 to get to seven under.
I think tied, I gotta tie the lead at the time.
And he bogeyed 11 and 13, he's in it five under.
Captain on the rails coming in, good round overall.
Which T13 is gonna be some pretty good money.
Zander kind of a...
Forgotten man.
Yeah, definitely forgotten man by today.
How far back is he?
He's at minus five.
Okay.
Fleetwood Bernie in two of the last three, man,
is that was massive to keep himself in it.
He did not look good today of what we saw.
Can anybody have five under win?
Like what does that mean?
Yes.
Oh, I guess the other way to put it Like, what is? Can they? Yes.
Oh, I guess the other way to put it is,
what's the winning number?
What would you feel comfortable with
for a playoff or outright?
What's that say?
Tron's stuck on 14.
Don't be 14.
I was gonna say 11 or 12.
It, I mean, if we see five 62s tomorrow,
which we are want to see.
Which the only guy that shot 66 today?
Bryson.
Bryson could shoot, all right, the Bryson shoots 66 tomorrow,
goes full on Mackenzie here.
That puts him at 10 only.
Put some at 10.
So that's the question.
What's the price?
It would be a full Mackenzie here?
64?
I think 65.
So the record Bryson was not the only guy to shoot 66.
No, on the top.
Okay.
10 of the leaderboard.
It's all in DJ's hands.
Like if DJ shoots 67, I feel pretty good for him.
He's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got, he's got It's gonna be mayhem and they're gonna lose track and you're gonna have to fall and shot track Orcs, I had Dustin's gonna win tomorrow. I think so
Who's been the biggest disappointment?
Who is the biggest disappointment today?
Fleetwood for me in the final group. I mean, it kind of felt like I know you guys said it on the on the pod yesterday
But yeah, it kind of felt like it was hey, man. Like let's do it. Let's go get one and he just couldn't get it in gear
I'll say it's kept good. Yeah, everyone on that top 10, you know, you man, like let's do it, let's go get one. And he just couldn't get it in gear. I'll say it's Capka.
Yeah.
Everyone on that top 10, you know, not everyone,
but those guys at the top of lead aboard
hit the worst round.
One under par, he's got to be.
He's just a little sloppy.
He hasn't gotten up and down around the,
he hadn't made the par savers that he needs to
that we would expect from at this point.
But Randy.
Disappointing is a funny word.
Because it conjures expectations in the first place, right?
Yeah, so I don't know.
I guess any of those guys at six under, the guys who shot 70, take your pick, Rose,
Day, Burger, Fleetwood, probably had to shoot 68 today.
I'm going to say Adam Scott. Cool. I think the last, I mean, just overall in general, I think he's absolutely flushing the ball,
and he's just not getting anything out of it.
Well, it's not flushing like my guy here is English, so let's just put that to bed.
The cat's got Tom Hogi tomorrow.
Which I think that happened before, didn't it?
It definitely did.
Yeah, remember that being.
That was at wind him, when Tiger went to wind them, right?
Could be.
Was that the year, maybe?
Didn't know who's in the tournament.
Rory, I think is the overall disappointment.
That might just be the macro disappointment.
Like this is, but I want TC on the record.
Is he dead or not, TTC?
I don't think you've been skirting it for two days now.
Randy, you had Dustin Johnson in a coma or a...
Oh, no, I'll ride for Randy.
He's been very clear.
He said at the outset of the year,
Dustin Johnson has one year to live.
Yes, it's the way...
COVID, that has.
You said it when you killed Rory off.
I said last night, I said, you know.
You said, if he doesn't show me anything today,
he's dead to me and then you wouldn't answer
the question of he showed you anything yesterday. I don't get how. You know what, he's dead to me. And then you wouldn't answer the question
if he showed you anything yesterday.
I don't get how.
You know what, he did show me stuff.
I didn't like when he showed me,
but he still showed it to me.
So you're saying he's not dead.
It's not dead.
That's pretty weak.
That's a cop out.
I can't quit it, man.
It's a tough look to see this golf course
and this setup.
It's perfect for him.
And the fact that he's completing on factor.
He absolutely stinks. He hasn't
won a major in six years, guys. Like at some point, it's
just, it's, you just got to call what it is. I'm so tired of
watching him hit shitty wedges from 120 yards. I hate that I
have to bring this up. I would have expected you guys to
wear 35 minutes in. His ball striking stats are really good or something? No, no,. I would have expected you guys to, we're 35 minutes in. His ball striking stats are really good or something?
No, no.
I just would have expected you guys to bring this forward
and not me have to ask for you
to officially apologize, but Norton.
73, not complete non-factor.
You banged one off the golf channel.
10th today as well.
What do you want from him?
He was who he thought he was.
You bring him up every time he sniffs around.
I'll apologize to you.
I'll apologize to you.
I apologize to you. He's beating Rory. I'll apologize. He's been in Rory.
Except your apology.
Not for Sky Shabler.
Don't apologize for.
Don't apologize for Sky Shabler.
Apologize for Dorrid.
He's being Rory, he's being the cat.
I mean, I don't know what we're apologizing for.
The guy's like four years old.
Complete non-fact.
He made the cut.
Senator, what I want to apologize for is our
north and close questions as we wrap up here.
But you go ahead.
Norton's clothes have been very bad.
Oh yeah.
Very bad.
So many tweeted the other day,
his pants are too tight and his pants are too baggy.
I think you should apologize for Lotto's entire aesthetic.
I don't care about his aesthetic.
He was wearing like,
I couldn't tell if he was wearing navy or black today.
I don't care about his aesthetic. I care care about his money. And it's been a lot. He's gonna win a Fred X Cup title this year.
Well, we're not giving out a Fred X Cup title this year.
It's true.
Oh, we are, but it's the mega title.
Yeah, for next year.
I thought we're redrafting.
I thought we're redrafting.
We're redrafting.
The tragic rory, I think.
You guys are gonna asterisk this whole thing.
But what do you want?
We talked women's golf.
Sure.
Did you guys watch any of the women's am today?
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. You're drafting. Before we draft a trance agroory, you guys are gonna asterisk this whole thing, but what do you want?
We talked women's golf.
Sure.
Did you guys watch any of the women's am today?
I'd be lying if I said I did.
I was in the car,
but I know our girl Gabby Ruffles,
friend of the program,
into her second straight finals.
I tracked the morning because I knew Gabby
was gonna just waltz through the afternoon round.
Well, she didn't waltz through the afternoon,
but I appreciate your confidence.
The morning round was, was, was, was where it was at.
That was the, that was a heavyweight matchup.
Um, yeah, final to mark 36th.
So final.
I think it's going to be really good.
Rose, uh, Zhang against Gabby Ruffles.
Gabby looking to go back to back.
She could be a killer.
She's played in two US women's am and she's going for her second win tomorrow.
What you, she is. Brooke's five. Should be surprising senior. She's played in two US women's AM and she's going for her second win tomorrow. What you think she is.
You see.
I know she's a rising senior.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then continues to be a really good leaderboard over on the LPGA in Toledo.
Lydia Co.
Fourshout lead over Danielle Gang.
What a story.
I know.
And people want to quit Jordan's speech.
People come back, man.
I know.
People come back.
Just wait it out.
Exactly.
Mindji Lee lurking too. I know you're a big Mindji Lee fan. Can I ask you a question as our resident, uh, women's golf expert.
Sully, of course, beat, you know, not the dance on it, but beat Gabby at the Jacksonville
city.
If she wins tomorrow, does that make Sully the two time to solve us acclaim to the two
time women's amtide by the transit of property. Yeah, yeah
I think we can maybe answer tomorrow. See what happens. That's a good question. Yeah, I think one
But maybe not both because it happened before yeah, I think only the second that's not only the first one
W W. It's I don't like transfers. Yeah, okay, you didn't sign up for the tournament
I do want to call out Mariaossy, bad 75 today.
I know, and our guy,
the LPJ Catty was saying how impressed he was with her.
She's got some inconsistency issues, but.
67, 66, 75.
Whew, not good.
You can see that.
Ward, LT, Wardet, Wardet 21.
At some point, you just gotta call it what it is.
Does that not apply for spieth?
I feel like we call it like, yeah, pretty much like it is for spieth.
I'll call it, he is spieth generational,
and he's gonna win the master.
Like, does he stink right now?
For sure.
We've been asking the question, does he stink?
Like, does spieth stink?
Yes, for like, the worst.
We're asking him to win the master.
He won the master.
That's great. Like like while he won the
master he simultaneously stunk and was
generational. Come on word,
pickles or attention. I don't know
where the questions went. A lot of
people were mad that you're talking
about women's golf and you can just
leave if you want to. Yeah, that's
fine. So I'm talking about whatever
you want on your podcast. Can we talk
about F1? A lot of people say in
champ wins tomorrow.
That would be sick.
That would be kind of sick.
Beat this DuVal, Fossie needs to fire her bagman.
There's one thing I want to point out.
If Colin Moore call wins,
it's we're into some like,
quickly, heavy territory.
Heady territory.
His stat of Moore, PGA Tour wins,
the Miss Cut is a phenomenal stat.
And I think if you had a major on to that.
What it be is, as many majors as Miss Cuts now would be
really cool.
So I'm kind of rooting for him for the historical significance.
Speaking of stats, you're gonna love this.
Somebody said a crazy stat today.
123 feet of made putts today.
Call it a match.
That's amazing.
It's not about the length of the made putts.
It's about the length of the miss putts. It's about the length of the misput.
Crazy stat I heard today.
Non-golf related.
I always involves the three gorgeous damn.
No, watch the choke points.
Zach sent this over. Larry Fitzgerald has more career tackles than
he does drops. Whoa. Whoa. That's a good one. I would, I would say.
Is there a weird Michael Thomas stat along those lines too? Like Michael Thomas has like
never dropped a pass or something. What was the photo in field flying?
Every and every ever. Never Votto in field fly one? Every one I can never fly.
Votto never had an in field fly.
Avery, Avery answers, they were dropped a pass.
Joey Votto had a good one,
but I think he has one now.
He, like, two years ago, I think he popped up on the in field.
All right, before we wrap, what's the F1 prediction for tomorrow?
Oh, well, shit, can we talk about?
Yes, strap in, I think we're going on a wrap it all.
First of all, Hulk, Vico Hulkenberg, my racing point shot.
That's Hulkenberg.
Exactly.
If there was any doubt, the racing point's cheating.
It's at Hulkenberg's going P3 tomorrow.
What if Hulkenberg gets his first ever podium tomorrow?
As a scab.
I think they have to immediately kick Sergio Perez to the curb.
And I was funding that.
Is Mercedes up to something with letting Botos get the pole?
Like trying to...
I don't think they let it. No, I think those guys compete. And I was funding now. Is Mercedes up to something with letting Botos get the poll, like trying to...
I don't think they let it.
No, I think those guys compete.
That was legit.
Like, yeah, that was a fast lap, man.
Yeah.
I don't know.
Something's up here.
Let's see how this plays out.
Because, hey, I'm not going to be the world.
How about Ricardo?
Ricardo's showing good results.
Lance Stroll.
I'd be remiss if we didn't mention Lance stroll was
Six I think is the vote
Verstappen though credit to rebel for sorry. Can it why do you the racing point seems like they would be against everything you stand for why do you exactly why he does okay? They're like they're just it's chaos baby like there is hold on. Let me let me scan the team
Let me scan the teams all right. We got some nepotism. We got some dirty money
We've got everybody hating these guys.
Maybe some cheating going out of the cards.
Of course, pink.
These are my boys.
Criminal Indian owner.
Yeah, sure.
That was force India.
Let me let me go at it.
And force India was sick.
I thought force India became racing.
They did.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, I think also.
I feel like VJ has still got his phone.
Formula One is trying to make the ship more competitive right
in theory wouldn't they want everybody copying mercedes
you're saying that it's kind of a robinhood situation
he had
still from the rich did they were in the rest of the league
well they're by definition not innovators because they're stealing someone
out of the innovation in the in the macro stress they're innovating in the
micro since they're not but in the macro since they are I would say at best
It's flip that's that's interesting. I'd also like to say for our
Straight of course that'll that'll is driving a dump truck out there
I wanted to give credit that a rebel putting verstappin through and q2 on the hard tires. That was that was risky
Peer gasoline of course making them question that.
Teased function above the way.
TC, you need to apologize for Albon, I think.
Yeah, I agree.
Oh, I, I think Gasly, I think they're going to call them back up to the big squad.
All right. Well, listen, anybody listen to this podcast, the race has probably already happened.
So just for sure.
Let's wrap it up.
Uh, I mean, not a good day from a clarin.
Not, not a good day.
Uh, that's right.
Just like Brad Bid.
Yeah. not a good day from a clarin. Not a good day. The sign's just like Brownbid.
Lanto, not a great.
Lastly, another good run for George.
George got through Q1, which is that's a win.
That's all you can ask for.
The Williams, Alfa Romeo, you're on notice, you fucking stink.
Well, it's just my, my glutes are shut off.
Official winners for tomorrow.
If we've lost it, this show is so long. I think Louis Hamlet's, I think Louis Hamlet's are shining. Official winners for tomorrow. If it leaves a lot of things,
it's showing a little bit.
I think Louis Hamlet's, I think Louis Hamlet's,
I think I'll catch him.
No, I'm not, I'm not claiming this yet.
I'm having to say.
Oh my gosh.
I'll go, I'm gonna go with Scotty.
There's no way that's gonna happen.
I hope it does, it'd be sick.
Yeah, all right, all right.
So you're on record as saying that's impossible.
Well, you're on record as saying that's impossible.
Highly unlikely.
I always pick where I want to root
and where I want to root is Moorakawa and Capca.
So just for the historical,
we'll see me have a chance for each.
The only majors Brooks doesn't win
are the ones that I pick him for,
so I'm gonna take Brooks.
It's probably not gonna happen.
So Brooks is not gonna win.
Exactly.
All right, thank you everyone for tuning in.
We'll be back for a Sunday.
We won't have a live show on Sunday night.
We will be doing a concluding pod, of course.
I hope you enjoy the final round of the PGA.
