You guys obviously bitched a lot about yesterday. Yesterday was the, yeah, it was the WGC Lexus championship VGC Lexus Championship, presented by John Cheetle at TPC Westchester. That's exactly right. And today was the first time that you were open. So you, okay. So you, let's start with the positive. You thought today it was good, great.

But they're still a little easy. Yeah, I mean, there's still ways we can go, but certainly in the name of praising progress today was a big step in the right direction. It's all about you, do you think? I thought it was honestly today, I thought it was a better setup today, but I had more fun yesterday. I just, I don't know what it was today, just didn't really capture me. I don't know if it was the guys playing poorly or just what it was happening with the leader

board. I don't know what it was. It was too easy. There may be just a controversy of it being too easy yesterday, helped make for better content or more interest, but today I struggled to get, I struggled and muster up any real takes about anything that happened today.

That's interesting. Does anybody else feel this? There's 11 guys on, yeah, even par or better. How many under par? There are... Too many, seven, six. Six? Okay. There were what, How many under par? There are too many seven six. Six. Okay. There were what 21 yesterday under par. So listen, the field backed up. They are who we thought they were as far as wing foot. I think we can agree on that.

It got a lot tougher today. Uh, you know, as, as predicted on this here space last night, uh, we were in agreement on that. We were saying, we weren't saying that it wasn't going to get harder today. I was saying I'm not gonna blindly trust the USGF. Yeah, but, but, right. We said of course it's gonna get harder today. Like it has to. You guys also poo poo the idea of wind,

which, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not buying the whole thing. No, I don't think we poo poo the idea of when we just said, like it was an easy setup with or without wind yesterday. The pins were easier. The greens were, were, were, were, the was an easy setup with or without wind yesterday. The pins were easier. The greens were, were soft. The pins were easier yesterday. Yes. The greens were softer yesterday.

Yes. Wind also contributes to greens being less soft. I never argued that like wind isn't a massive factor. I'm saying like a seven or eight mile an hour wind, like what was forecasted yesterday? Wasn't, that wasn't the end all be all. That shouldn't have dictated. Yes. Them keeping us off.

Correct. I agree. And we all agreed with. Yeah. We can move off of yesterday, I think, unless there's more to unpack. Let's talk about today. Because it's all you said something very interesting in that you didn't think it was enjoyable today.

I actually, I had more fun watching today for a couple of reasons. I think it's more fun to watch guys hang on for dear life. It was fun to watch JT's round today, I thought, where he clearly didn't have it and couldn't put himself in the fairway. And then all of a sudden he's on his back foot all day. I thought that was really interesting. Watching Reed, I know he did this yesterday too,

but watching him get up and down from everywhere and just really making it work. When he wasn't hitting greens, I thought it was really cool. Yeah, I don't know. I have a bigger macro take. I don't want to, you know, ramble too long, but I think with what technology has done and like there's, you know, it's a different game

that we're watching, we talk about that all the time. But I also think when the cat is not the lightning rod of content on Thursday, Friday at a major, like I don't think any of you guys in this field have enough juice to carry this thing for four days. The rib might, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, The rib would, yeah. I was, we were kind of talking about this earlier as to,

when I, if Patrick Reed goes on to win this, if Bryson goes on to win this, I don't have to frame that for anything. I don't know what that means. Like if Jordan's sp speed were to win this, I would feel like I'm watching like some somebody, ignoring all of his past struggles. Like if he was in a good, in good form coming in

and would win this, I'd feel like I'm watching, you know, somebody take a Hall of Fame career all the way to the next level, start. Speed has the juice. Start entering the Watson, Trevino categories and stuff. That would stir what? That would feel like something. Rory, having not one in six years, that would feel like something rory and having not one in six years that would feel like something I don't feel that with

the guys at the top leader board today it might just be an overall coverage take there might just be I just felt they were all over the place I got no real rhythm for anyone's round they didn't really take any time to explain the shots very well the slopes and they just didn't build going into the weekend weekend where the leaders are, you kind of progressed through a golf course instead of being all over a golf course. I have more faith that they'll be able to tell that story better and kind of eliminate a lot of other of the riff raff you got to get in the first couple days.

If they're like a golf channel Friday production on the West Coast swing. I think so where I come out of it from, I enjoyed today, I thought I enjoyed it a lot more than yesterday. I still like I want Saturday and Sunday to be the fucking apocalypse I mean, I wanted to be the book of preach at TC. I think I think the curve like looks like this I don't think it's getting I don't know if the weather's gonna be Tesso's when they when the players start when the players start grumbling when it gets borderline unfair Which I don't think anybody would say today was I thought today was like an awesome test

Yeah, I still think it could get like the Greens could get firmer and I thought the pins were a step in the right direction But overall I'd like to see I don't know I just like there's still you know read shot 70 Bryson shot 68 like there were Hedecki shot 69 Bubba shot 69 like there were still good scores out there. Did not think it'd be the big golfer. I made that prediction last night. That's where I'll hand out on that. I'll take. Will apologize for that one. The macro take is that like, like, yeah, like all these tiny little changes add up to like very big effects on the results, right? Like the 13-hour win to the USJ is not tiny though.

Aside from the win, the USJ is painted themselves into a corner with how fine the lines are because they've refused to do anything about the golf ball or the heads or anything like that. So it's like, yeah, like a tiny, like everything's already on the edge because it has to be. So, you know, they've- Shout out to Zach Johnson. There's no, there's no, like, there's been no leadership from them over the last two decades. So it's like, this is, this is their bed. And then they choose to do all this blood, sweat, gore stuff on their whole brand platform and then say, oh, no, that was just a brand platform.

That's not actually the reality. I didn't realize they were selling hoodies that actually said golf's toughest test. Exactly. What do you fucking stand for? RIP Sanditatum, by the way, a vacuum of leadership. What was it? We're not trying to embarrass them. We leadership. What was it we're not trying to embarrass them, we're trying to identify,

we're not trying to embarrass the best players in the world, we're trying to identify the best players in the world, which I kind of think they did today. I wanna push back on some, you said I find it interesting as far as, you know, somebody getting a win, like I think Bryson breaking through it a major would be a huge story.

I did too. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I think that's one of the three biggest stories, two biggest stories, maybe biggest story. I think Reed, Reed winning a second major would be, like, Reed seemed like the quintessential US open. This is one that makes a lot of sense when you look back. I'm like, I appreciate to pick that.

To clarify Randy, I mean, like for a Friday afternoon, I don't need to like watch, price and go wire to wire or something like that. I'm not watching him battle demons or expectations or history. If Rory stayed out in front today, I would have been glued to it because it's like, all right, here we go. We've seen this before from him.

We have this database of memories from him and we're about to add to it. Maybe, can he overcome this bubble? I don't feel that watching price on on Friday. I think we're in a slightly different era. Like we're in a transition era right now. Shout out to government. Of course, shout out.

We're in a transition era right now as far as the game and the tour and everything. I think something else that makes a huge difference, we talked about this a little bit offline was like, the fact like there's no context for this event. It just feels like it's like bolted on to the end of the season. After we've watched these guys play four or five months aside from the PGA of like meaningless golf tournament, like essentially meaningless golf tournament. It's just for a shitload of cash. And it's

like, but credit to the PGA tour. They had good fields for all these tournaments. All the top players played with the exception of cat in most of them. And so we've felt like all these guys have been battling week after week after week. We're kind of desensitized to it. And everything just feels like a soulless WGC cash grab at this point. And this is where Fox was so important. Like different music. I know it's different music, but like different people, different voices and they, it was their super bowl and they treated it like it. And it does not so far. It is feels like exactly like a normal PJ tour. I've totally point taken to on something you said about, you know, you just don't have the memories and that buy-in with guys like a Rory or a Tiger.

Like, they still have to show enough of Tiger and Phil to make people happy. But I will say, you know, it starts with, if Bryson wins this week, all of a sudden maybe down the road, that's how that equity gets built. So I totally agree with you, but I'm hoping, maybe this is a stepping stone for some of these guys. And for sure, and I'm in on the Bryson storyline, I'm in on the read one,

I'm just saying for a Friday, that's why I felt a little, just kind of like, eh, yeah. Well, that's didn't quite scratch the edge. Totally, no, I completely agree. And that's where I think, that's where I was going out with the with the Tiger stuff is Even since let's say 2010 when it was kind of like every major had this cloud of I don't know

Like is he gonna do it or is he not gonna do it and like no matter what he shot it was fascinating Yeah, and today it was like Tiger shot what 78 not good, but 76 something like that So like honestly like I don't even need to see it. Like, take it away. I'm good. And without that, you know, intrigue, like, then all of a sudden it's like, fuck, man, we gotta show 50 guys.

And like, how are we gonna make any of these guys interesting when you can only show one of their shots every, you know, 12 minutes? It's really, so I feel for them on one hand, but on the other hand, it's almost like, man, you just gotta kind of commit to a guy. Like, if they would have, this is very TV production like outside my depth, I know, but if you just commit

to Bryson in the morning, and it's like, dude, Bryson's our guy, and you show him between holes and you show him lining up shots and you show like, what is, you know, you hear the caddy conversation, what's he trying to do with this blah, blah, blah, then it gets more interesting and it gets, it does suck you in. And even if you don't think it does, it does.

They have the power to do that, I think. But they can't because they have so much to show. But I'm gonna push back because one, I don't know if Bryce wants part of feature group. So they do have a couple of avenues where if you're looking for that, you can find it. Definitely not. And to play Devil's Egg Advocate, they latched on to one guy

and that guy happened to play poorly. No, exactly. Absolutely, of course. We're totally right. And that's what I'm saying. It's kind of a no-win happened to play poorly. You would. Yeah, absolutely. for him to contend in every single major and everything. Like it's just, all you're doing is like selling your memory of him and setting yourself up for disappointment.
