Starting point is 00:02:37 I lost four bets to Rady today based on. We're putts gonna go in or not go in. So just hit them on cash app. Okay. I got a request of you, Sully. Okay. I got some things to get off my chest. Okay, please.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Would you please play me in? I gladly, gladly will. What are we playing you in for? These are all the gentlemen that lost to Tiger Woods and played his last competitive round. I believe in October of 2020 and then almost died in a car accident. Why are we leading the...
Starting point is 00:03:03 Why are we doing this? I think they should be ashamed. And I think if they had any respect for themselves, they'd turn in a car accident. Why are we leading the... Why are we doing this? I think they should be ashamed and I think if they had any respect for themselves, they'd turn in their tour cards and withdraw. But you promised this on the preview pod that you were gonna do this. Of course! You were gonna read the names of everyone that tiger beat.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Of course. Will you please do that for us? Let's go. Paul Casey. With Drew. Sandy Lyle, Laird Shepherd, he's an amateur. Well, let that go.
Starting point is 00:03:31 James Piot. Also an amateur. Matthew Wolfe. Tough. Broken Club. Aaron Jarvis. Amateur. Thomas Peters.
Starting point is 00:03:43 Probably broken club. Stuart Haggistad, professional amateur. Aaron Jarvis. Amateur. Thomas Peters. Probably a broken club. Stuart Haggistad, professional amateur. VJ Singh. What can you say? Francesco Mollinari, and we'll take Eduardo's too. Luke List. Singh Ships.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Cameron Young. I got nothing. Surprise you're in the field. You're doing the best swaffer gifted hand Larry Mise Jose Maria Olathobble and he birdie the first two he birdie the first I'm sorry about this one Justin Rose. Oh team Rose. I hate that Burnhard longer. All right. There's like 73 these guys. I think we got to break it up into chunks Can we come back to the rest of the revisit? We will come back to that
Starting point is 00:04:30 We got to start with the cat. I assume of course we got to start with what do you have to say about the cat? What what a what a methodical round of cat I don't know what we're gonna say that's not gonna sound just overly emotional and like cliches But I felt every emotion, I felt every cliché watching it. I mean, it was like, what a mind fuck? Like watching what we just watched. It's truly like, you can throw all the cliches out there.
Starting point is 00:04:56 If you were to told me, literally he would have been at the green jacket ceremony this year. I would have been like, wow, that's inspiring. And not only did he show up for the green jagged ceremony he fucking shot under par he'd be like seventy seventy three guys and it was I think like the cliche that's gonna be thrown out a lot is like he just knows where to miss on these on this golf course right he can play it in his sleep he knows he knows where all his misses are he knows where he's got to be and what I was thinking like even starting on number one is even when you miss on this golf course,
Starting point is 00:05:26 you have to hit so many shots. You have to two putt from really hard spots. You have to get up and down from really hard spots. Like yes, you can still know where to miss, but you still have to, it's still such a grind. And he ground it out. And he didn't, wasn't perfect by any means. He had some big misses, but he kept doubles off the scorecard,
Starting point is 00:05:45 and that is gonna be the, hopefully the theme of the week, right? If he keeps doubles off the card, he's gonna beat a ton of guys. I am slightly worried it's not sustainable. All right, of course. Right, but he did not drive it good today, which, you know, we're looking, but it is a golf course where you can drive it less than perfect
Starting point is 00:06:03 if you, again, like to your point, miss in the right spots. What the ironic part is, he had some really bad misses today that didn't lead to bogies. His two bogies were so preventable, extremely preventable. Eight was horrible. He was short on everything and looks like... Like, where are you asking bogie on eight? Everything that we're viewing us through a lens of, you know, a pretty tightly auditing his game, like it is ridiculous that he's even playing in this.
Starting point is 00:06:26 And so, like, we're, was I, was I, still ridiculous he played the father son. Yes. Now we're talking about him in the, what, top 10 of the masters. I was expecting him to look more like this than the reports we were getting in the practice rounds. Like, he looked a little shaky,
Starting point is 00:06:40 little hesitant to like put weight on the leg, coming through, like, couldn't really draw it all Extremely reasonable like none of it's unreasonable actually, but also there were some shots where I'm like that's the best Iron player in the field The shot he hit in six was unbelievable So good point he hit into five was unbelievable got like unlucky and just barely caught the slope like there was some High highs as well and he just he shook in a couple, like the one on 16 was, I don't know, man. I got robbed on five too. For sure.
Starting point is 00:07:08 For sure, it is so, I'm with you. Like, do I think he's gonna go out and play perfect golf and win the golf tournament? Probably not, of course. Like, I don't think that's a hot take. But do I think he's gonna hang around and beat a ton of guys? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:21 So I think he's gonna make the cut? Yeah. Do I think he's got a chance to finish in the top 20? Yeah, I do. And that's unbelievably ridiculous to say. Speaking of beat a lot of guys. Justin Thomas. Oh, God, a good minor chord there.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Do we pause on that one? Yeah, let's pause it. Okay, we'll pause it. We need to have an adult conversation at Justin Thomas. You will hear no excuse making from me. This is the... What happened?
Starting point is 00:07:46 I thought we were going to turn a corner with this one. He's maybe too aware of his major championship struggles at this point. It kind of felt like something that he was aware of and conscious of and going to approve on. And I kind of wonder if it's having the opposite rory effect of like maybe too aware of how this is not going very well every time I want to play my best golf. It's a bugaboo. It's not good.
Starting point is 00:08:07 I mean, it's 76. That was not out there today. It's really bad. That was not out there. That's the worst round. He was the biggest disappointment in the day. For sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Definitely. Anything more you want to add to? What do you want to say about the cat? Well, I just thought the cat, tomorrow's a huge day for the cat. The cat, I agree with Salie. The cat looked a little bit more brittle than I was expecting, given some of the early week reports.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Ignoring the car crash. So real real quick. So we're in Scotland, as we mentioned, I don't know if we mentioned why we're in Scotland. We have a big group trip that we're doing on the back end. So we came over for the masters early. So we'd be set up to do stuff like this. Rainy and I watched a good bit of the, I mean, we watched golf for like 13 hours today.
Starting point is 00:08:48 We watched a good bit of that at the pub as well. What was the pub we were at? Molly Malone. Molly Malone's pub. Line of the night from one of the bartenders in there, looks up, Tiger makes his birdie on 16, he's fist pumping, everybody's going nuts. Guys so disinterested, this bartender in St. Andrews looks up the TV, he's like, is that Tiger Woods? Good, good.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Yeah. Funny was dead. No, check it out. Check it out, he's in the lives. He lives. The guy totally lived. And now he's back in the masters. He's back in executing the rest of the field.
Starting point is 00:09:19 So all I'm saying, what I'm saying from that is. Well, sure. It's a big day for him tomorrow. I agree. But also today was an enormous day that's gonna be so much bigger than any of the rest of the week, right? Yes, and like today was a great story.
Starting point is 00:09:34 I think not only the recovery and see how he fares the second day will be very interesting to see, but I thought he was a little bit toe in that line where his game, you know, things could have started to go a little sideways. He got a lot out of that round. If he shoots, you know, 76 tomorrow, I wouldn't be shocked just seeing the way he kind of looked and moved today.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Literally if he shoots 86 tomorrow, I would be shocked. But also he could shoot 70. You know, he could string this together for four days. I wouldn't doubt that. So I really keen to see how he fares tomorrow. The good news on Tiger, three of the four stroke scheme categories were in the positive. The bad news driver was minus 1.32. He did take a divot with driver on Fortshire.
Starting point is 00:10:18 That's not what we're looking for. That's not what we're looking for. And he kind of missed in like, he knows, he knows. He knows where all these spots were to miss. He knows he can snap hook into hit a hundred. 70 yards, 70 yards left of 90. He knows he's got a window over there. He knows that.
Starting point is 00:10:33 18 through that gap in the tree. 100% for the fork. Temporary water. He knows he can miss there. Yeah. But yeah, there were some big misses where that actually should have been doubles probably and weren't. So it's
Starting point is 00:10:51 Hopefully gosh god hopefully keep those off the card the sustainability model would point out that he was positive 2.07 and stroke scheme putting that's yeah good. I mean he's kind of where saying coming in is like Yeah, who knows if he can walk that's a big big if but he's probably putting a ton right? It's probably doing a ton of lag putting. He's probably doing a ton of short putting because like, what else has he been doing, right? And we'll pitch shots. Yeah, and he chipped it great. Except for eight, really? I mean, he chipped it.
Starting point is 00:11:11 14 was weird too. Yeah. He went low, lofted with that shot. I think he tried to hit a four iron. I read it as press conference. Really? Yeah, he tried to bump it, bump it around. Which was interesting, if you listen to the play,
Starting point is 00:11:20 you brought it like a real golfer. He's proper. You lost it. In proper golfer. The preview podcast with John Wood, we talked about like why it always looks funny to me, at least from the angles we see why guys don't put from off the green.
Starting point is 00:11:31 And he just talked about how the ryegrass there is thick around the greens and like you don't want balls to be entering the green at the speed that's required to get it through the fringe. And I watch Bryson put from off the green today horribly. And just viewing it through that lens is like, man, those shots do make you really uncomfortable, which now I'm flashing back to Phil.
Starting point is 00:11:49 All those times, he would just open the face wide open and hit these flops that would carry onto the green and hold the green. It's like, oh gosh, that makes even more sense why he's able to play so well there. But yeah, obviously like incredibly encouraged by that, it was just surreal to watch. It was kind of like how I pictured Tiger playing
Starting point is 00:12:08 the Masters at age 56, not 46, ignoring the accident. It was like, okay, he can still figure out his way. There's still a way to play that golf course. Like Bernard Longgraf, I don't know what he shot today, but he was even through nine, at least I was like, we just read his name into the record. Unfortunately, he's so hard with this. But like, he figured some stuff out
Starting point is 00:12:27 about like how to play that course without bombing it. And I watching him on two, like he didn't try to muscle one up there. He's like, he was attacking. He was playing the last. He was attacking the left, attacking the right.
Starting point is 00:12:37 And honestly it felt like I'm gonna go make 18 pars. Yeah. And if I wiggle in a putter too, you know, so be it, that'll be great. But can he win the Masters this year? I don't think so. It's minus one too far back. No, it's not too far back.
Starting point is 00:12:52 I just think he looks like he lacked pop. And over through, you know, he hadn't played a competitive round let alone, four straight, it's just too much to ask. But he hadn't played a competitive round in 500 days, almost lost his leg and beat like 72 guys. Yeah. It's very like the number one player in the world is 300 right now. And over the last 54 holes, do you like the number one player in the world or do you like the guy who's like struggling to walk? I've promised
Starting point is 00:13:17 myself I won't. I won't. I won't. I'm not saying it's not. I'm not legal advice, but if you're gambling, maybe I will not doubt him again. I will not fall for know, I will not doubt. I am not legal advice, but if you're gambling, maybe. I will not doubt him again. I will not fall for it. I will doubt the health, but I will never doubt the game again. Would you like to continue for a few more? Please, please. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Lluis Usthason. This is getting into more of a celebration of life, period of the music here. Bryson D. Shambo. It looked like he was just really playing with the tennis racket out there today. C. Wu Kim. I thought I kind of thought he was gonna play well.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Stuart Sink. I got nothing. It lived a great life. Stuart Sunk. Broke. Kevka. That's disappointing. We were sitting at the time of the music.
Starting point is 00:14:01 When you talk about Broke. I thought he was gonna make an absolute move today. Him and Rory both making the turn to evil. No, Broke was too under. I thought he was gonna make an absolute move today. Him and Rory both make an eternity. Oh, no, Brooks was 200. And then he part 10, he was 200 going into 11 and shoots 41 on the back, I believe. Brooks struggled with the putter today. He let a lot of strokes go to way on the green.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Just disappointing. We were both really talking ourselves into Brooks there for a minute. We might be idiots though. It was a lot of what we said, which just didn't happen today. Like what's his excuse? How does he shoot three over? How's that possible? Yeah. It's a massive bummer. He hasn't played good for a long period of time. But then it's like, well,
Starting point is 00:14:36 does he ever play good leading into majors and still always does it? And I mean, assuming he doesn't go on to win this one, we're coming up on three years of not winning one of these things. Yeah. We did, we did say he's won four though, which is, we can confirm that is a lot, which is a lot. That's a lot. That's a lot.
Starting point is 00:14:52 It takes a reminder, you got to kind of remind yourself of that every now and again. Yeah. That's so many. That was a big disappointment. He and JT probably did the two biggest for me. Do you want to flip it over and start talking about the guys at the top of the leaderboard and come back to your list or, the middle. I don't want to let these guys off the hook though. Don't forget that we surely won't. I promise we will
Starting point is 00:15:12 not let them all. We started the top. I'm not going to lie. Kind of forgot that he finished T2 in 2020 for sure. For sure. And like blitz the opening round there. But I also think that masters is not like a great predictor for, I mean, that was a totally different tournament, but great up and down on 18, kind of thought that was gonna plug in the bunker and it was not gonna go well, but. Disappointed, nothing plugs in these bunkers.
Starting point is 00:15:35 No, such a good room. It's so easy. It's almost like Stroke's gained if you hit it in the bunker. We were looking at that pin, like back right on 18. Like everybody got it up and down. Exactly. Or we got it up and down, or like Rory got it up and down and like, man, if that's not a death spot,
Starting point is 00:15:47 like, no. Deltourist missing, or he got it up and down too, but a little truly missing it 40 yards long, that's tough. But let me ask you this, does SungJ move the needle? Like, would that excite you as a golf fan if you were to win the Masters? No.
Starting point is 00:16:01 I think I could talk myself into it, but it would be mostly fake, you know? And that's how I am. And I almost feel like about that. I like watching him. I like when he gets on, but it would be mostly fake. That's how I am. I almost feel like a lot about that. I like watching him. I like when he gets on a roll. I'm trying to think it's almost like, remember when Duffner was at the peak of his powers and watching him, I bet he's going to step up and hit this inside three feet.
Starting point is 00:16:19 That was really fun for a while, but I don't think about Duffner all that much. Two things, sustainability model. He was plus 3.35 on the greens today. So you made a lot of putts. Not that's not that sustainable, also from Christopher Sung. Sung Jay, low key playing for an exemption from mandatory military service. Killers in more ways than one question mark.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Totally forgot about that. Yeah. What a weird world. Yes. That you got a win-a-major. Now I'm going to feel bad, not rooting for him. So, listen, that changes the game a little bit. Yes. That you got a win a major now. I'm going to feel bad not rooting for him. So no, that's good. Listen, that changes the game a little bit.
Starting point is 00:16:47 It's interesting. It is, it's round one. Look, I mean, there's, it's going on the Wikipedia page. He's the leader after round one. We'll see what we remember by the end of the tournament. He's obviously an incredible player and I'm not saying he won't be there, but I, I, out of the two people I watched today between Cam Smith and Sungjae, Cam looks like the hunter. I would not want to be in Cam's way. No, Cam feels like he's, I know the leaderboard says otherwise, he feels like he's up by about three.
Starting point is 00:17:15 With his two doubles was like, yeah, that's not really what he's doing. That doesn't really count. He even kind of said that after the round too. He's like, yeah, I mean, I, I made doubles, but like, those were still really good shots. Like, that was, 18 was playing downwind, and it was like, if you started it just a hair, a hair right of center, like, it was gonna end up in those trees. Anyways, like, that wasn't even a bad drive.
Starting point is 00:17:34 That's just such a hard hold today. And in one, I don't really know what happened, but it's just a good, he mentioned this in his, his press or two, but like, everybody talks about staying patient and one shot at a time and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But like, the idea that Augusta is a place where you know if you double the first, which is all I know, if you're gonna double the whole.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Gotta be the first shot of it. You wanna be the first shot. Exactly. But what a good place where like if you're KM, you shot all four rounds in the 60s last year, you know you can like kinda like bend this place over a little bit. Like what a fun place to just be like,
Starting point is 00:18:03 no, I can make seven birdies coming in. It's all all good. A great question from Sweet Cup and Cake. Should the guys who lose to the cat have to do mandatory military service? That's one. That's interesting. Two, so Harry Higgs was second today
Starting point is 00:18:17 with 3.15 strokes gained approach. What do you think Cam Smith was? 5.5. More than two shots clear. That's how good he hit his project. He lost strokes off the tee today. You know what's tough is when he also makes every putt. Yes.
Starting point is 00:18:32 That's a good combo for someone who's gonna play well. Again, for a golf course where you don't need to be a great driver of the golf ball, Cam Smith is, I think we said this on the, like he seemed too obvious leading into it for like to be the pick, but he would be my pick right now for putting wagers in. He's the dude.
Starting point is 00:18:47 How far back do you have to go to find somebody like him that's sort of the obvious pick who has never won a major before? That was the thing getting me with Cam was just interesting. There's some kind of interesting ones. I mean, Neon and Shaftler. Yeah. No, I mean like pre-tournament though, like being kind of like, this guy's the favorite.
Starting point is 00:19:10 And he has a Shaftler probably or I guess I mean, there's a couple that are kind of right in that tier, right? Of Shaftler, Morakawa, Cantley, Havland. Yeah. I'll feel like they're kind of in that same bucket a little bit. That is interesting. It is. I kind of forget that Cam hasn't won a major
Starting point is 00:19:26 because he just feels like he's, he's, feels like he is truly just like step-by-step gotten better every single year to the point where like, player's championship HQ, go nuts, I'm back on it. Nah, dammit. I was setting them up for that, got him. I think we may need to touch back in

Starting point is 00:21:04 Exactly. Take it it he's right here uh where do we want to go next Danny will it or you want to do one back up of course we need to name 10 more okay just 10 Samuel Burns disappoints yeah I'm gonna miss it yeah it's such so much promise I had of him to do a lot of potential Takumi Kenaya, mm-hmm T.C. is gonna have to answer for that one Gary Woodland Yeah, sure fluffer Cameron Davis, okay, okay
Starting point is 00:21:39 It's next one's gonna hurt boys Tommy Fleetwood. Yeah, it's time. You kind of called it on the Englishman Although you're gonna have to Danny Will kind of. Yeah. It's time. You kinda called it out of the Englishman. Although you're gonna have to Danny Willow kinda back you down. That's true. Kevin Kizner. Not his golf course. Ryan Palmer. Not sure how he's in the field.
Starting point is 00:21:55 Arnie's grandson, that's how he gets in. How he's getting the field? Maybe finished. I had a major. Maybe FedEx Cup last year I think. Guido Migliazi. There's a guy named Guido. And Fred couples.
Starting point is 00:22:08 Man, he had a guy's run. He got the shoulder tap. He had a great run. I got a guy called it a terrific round from Fred. I was like, huh? Huh? We'll revisit that here. I go, we still got a ways to go
Starting point is 00:22:19 or we almost cut up. No, those blokes all tied for 60th. Oh my goodness. We got we got ways to go again. All of these guys lost to a. Oh, so actually some really fun names coming up. Hey, dude, watch this space. Scotty Sheffler wearing the Tiger logo on the back of his shirt today. Unbelievable. How about that? I couldn't help but think of Michael Jordan when he was tweeting at at Keegan Bradley. He's like, Hey, nobody wearing air keegan. when he was tweeting at Keegan Bradley, he's like, hey, nobody wearing air keegan. I'm pretty sure that's my shoes you're wearing.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Tight haircut, the sideburn bandit, got his hands on Scotty Schaeffler, unfortunately, but man, I mean, just pretty validating round as a number one player in the world, I would say. Extremely, started kind of slow too, looked like he was maybe gonna be a neutral for a while, and then you know, did what you're supposed to do on the back night.
Starting point is 00:23:07 He might be the real booby. You just can't sink him. He just like, he looks like he's just playing okay and you look up and he's a couple under par, sneaks in another birdie and gets in the house at three under. I had to take, I don't even know if I agree with it earlier today that the Sheffler being number one of the world kind of feels like if Leesh got
Starting point is 00:23:24 to number one of the world. He's like if Lee's got to number one in the world. He's like, oh cool, man. That's great. Like I can't wait to see like who's who be next number one. But like, like, are you super good for like ten holes at a time? Yeah, but awesome player. Yeah, like, like, he's he's the best. Can I, can I add you something? Can I ask you something? Can I ask you something? Yes, please. You had a quote today. I don't think Sheffler's that good. I did say that in Molly Malone. And I want to, I want to unpack? Yes, please. You had a quote today. I don't think Sheffler's that good. I did say that in Molly Malone. And I want to unpack that a little bit.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Well, I think it's the eye test. He said it. He just doesn't look like he's doing anything. He looks like he's slipping every swing. I don't know. It just doesn't. I mean, credit to him. The scorecard was nice.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Fair play to him. Fair playcard was nice. Three under. Fair play to him. Fair play. Win three times. Tip of the cap. In shoot 69. I'm not saying he's a bad player. I just, you know, he's like 20th, 25th best player in the world, I think, is probably his
Starting point is 00:24:17 definitely top 20, I think. That's where that's where he is. The 25th best player in the world, which is listen, that's good. Well, how big is your sample size? Because this is the issue, if I may, and I don't want to psychoanalyze you in front of all these people, dozens of people with this podcast. But I think your sample size is about 15 years. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:36 Whereas I think solid, you might be living much more in reality. We've been hearing about Scottie since the late 90s. No, I was going to say, I think you're much more like, you know, who's a good example of like Luke Donald, like there's a proper player. Luke Donald's a guy who can really really get you with Randy's looking at the long, long, long view here. And it's all I've been listening. It's been 42 days.
Starting point is 00:24:59 It's been 42 days. Let's pump the brakes a little bit. I know what the OWGR says, but hey, Lerwin, there a guy that could would you use it? Scott Hoke? Exactly. Scott Hoke could play. During Master's Week, come on man, that's cold. No, listen, I will say, the Shetler, Shetler's playing very well right now. You get a great day today. There's just something when I watch him. Wow. Just like this guy doesn't look like that good. It's good. What would have to change? Well, maybe think on that. What would have to change? How would he let's get it over? I would say making a ton of eight footers for a
Starting point is 00:25:33 two, three month period is doable. It's not that sustainable for a long period of time. And it feels like every time he's got an eight footer, it goes in the center of the center of the hole. He wiggled in. Talk about speed. I think we got to redestually go that a few early in the round. You know who's not hitting the center of the hole. He wiggled in, don't talk about speed. I think we got to where we naturally go, dad. That's a few early in the round. You know who's not hitting the center of the center of the hole right now? Jordan Spliff. Oh, that's such a bummer.
Starting point is 00:25:52 It's kind of fun. I was saying to you guys, when, like, again, they dress him up like a little boy. He looks like one of the guys from Blues Clues. And you're watching him on the range doing his Charles Barkley hitch. And I'm saying, like man, he's walking to the first tee, like he feels like he's lucky to be even bar right now.
Starting point is 00:26:07 Even that feels like unrealistic, that Jordan's even going to number one. What hold is he getting away with? What hold did we, the fade away putt? He hit. Straight to end grand listen, it's straight down the hill, fastest greens on tour, but that was a little bit of the, the hoteling fade away.
Starting point is 00:26:22 Most concerning putt, I've ever seen him hit. He missed it by four inches, like it wasn't even remotely close. the, the hotel fake way. Most concerning put up ever seen him hip. He missed it by four inches. Like it wasn't even remotely close. No, it's not good. I'm not emotionally invested in this go around. I didn't, you know, I didn't get hyped on it. I didn't, he wasn't my pick to win. So I, I, I can almost kind of laugh
Starting point is 00:26:37 when he does something this stuff now more than it breaks my heart. I was just, I was kind of giggling today. Like it's just gonna make the Sunday 65, like that much worse. It's gonna make it finish like T8. That much more frustrating. Didn't drive it good or put it good,
Starting point is 00:26:48 or even hit it good. Honestly pretty lucky to be plus too. He's lucky to be plus too. That, how is the play this is? It's pretty. We skip past Waco and Dan Willett. No, I mean, Wachine is, again, that looks sustainable. I was saying Joaquin looked good.
Starting point is 00:27:09 And he's playing in a fucking historic round. She's golf with Tiger Woods. He's playing right next to him, goes out and, you know, almost takes the lead. It was, it was awesome. Joaquin, I always, uh, am guilty of, of looking at him. He's like, ah, he doesn't hit it high enough. Yeah. And he just, he figures out a way to get it done, man.
Starting point is 00:27:24 He doesn't pass the I test sometimes with the ball flight and the style of play. But he gets it done. He gets it done. I will say interesting note, and I asked him about this on the podcast and he denied it. But when he played against Tiger and there's a four ball match or I think it was four ball that he played against Tiger
Starting point is 00:27:39 and the, and the president's cup. And Tiger's kind of going through his process, kind of taking a little while and the camera pans over and walking, like does a little motion like this. They could have been like, let's go team or something, but it kind of looks like he's telling Tiger to speed up. And Tiger also took that personally.
Starting point is 00:27:55 He's taking it personally. But I just, I have found that interesting that they got paired together, but yeah, it cannot be easy dealing with, I mean, the pictures of the crowds, and Tigers always drawn a huge crowd, but this today felt like a big, big fucking deal. I think we were kind of talking this morning before it kicked off. Okay, who are the guys that kind of wouldn't move the needle or who are the kind of, you
Starting point is 00:28:15 know, I don't, you don't want to say like nothing winners. And I think Joaquin might have even come up. And after watching today's round, I think I, I want to flip that in that like, if Joaquin's in it going down the stretch, as long as, you know, spieth and royal aren't enough against them, I think I would love to see walking win a major. I think that would be super, super fun. That would be pretty fitting.
Starting point is 00:28:35 And also, I mentioned this on Twitter, but, and it's kind of a, you know, fluffing a gust of national, but, wild investment strategy, from wild vertical integration, from the boys at Augusta lately, with Hideki Matsuyama, two-time Asia Pacific Amateur champion is your defending master champion.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Joaquin, a Latin American champion, was your master's leader today for a while. And Jennifer Cup Show, who won the first onwa, won a major on the LPGA this week as well. And it's, that's wild. Wait until the drive chip and butt kids get there. Exactly. And it's, it's common, it's worth a comment.
Starting point is 00:29:10 Shicken and egg things though, where it's like, I don't know that Joaquin started playing golf because there was a Latin American championship, but at least they're hosting high quality championships that high quality players are winning. And I thought it was cool. I don't know what tournament you were at, but all the South American fans just going nuts for.
Starting point is 00:29:26 I mentioned that on the players podcast, where Joaquin had like, literally dozens, dozens of Chilean fans and South American fans out in Jacksonville. I live in Jacksonville, don't run into like, mass amounts of Chileans on the regular. And I was asking some of the dudes that were out there, I was like, so what, you guys live here nearby or what?
Starting point is 00:29:45 And they're like, no, like a lot of these kids are from Joonier tour and he flew like a bunch of them in as like a prize for winning their flight or winning their competitions or whatever. So yeah, Joonine seemed, I'm in. Easy to root for in that room. And I don't know what really is different between him and Sungjae, but something about Joonine, I think I don't know what really is different between him and Sungjae,
Starting point is 00:30:05 but something about Joaquin, I think I would be, would rather have Joaquin than Sungjae. Yeah. Just because we got a lot of names to get through, I'm gonna ask for a few more of them. We got Dr. J. Sure. Well, we mentioned, we mentioned Jordo, Jordan's beef.
Starting point is 00:30:19 I'm sorry, I missed past that. Zander Shoffley. Oh, he had so much promise. Did not make a birdie today. Okay, maybe not. John Rom. That's a hard one. I feel like that's a really good stuff.
Starting point is 00:30:33 I feel like we're gonna have to explain that one. Turn the music down. Turn the music off. Let me ask you a question. There's no snare in my headphones. Let me ask you a question. Okay, I'm here for all of it. Is he still the buoy?
Starting point is 00:30:46 The buoy might be leaking a little bit. Are we concerned at anything right now? We're concerned. Now we are concerned. I think he'll probably still finish like top 15 in this tournament. That's why he's the buoy. But look, we need, like that's the floor for him.
Starting point is 00:31:03 He was like almost minus odds at top 10 this week. We needed a lot more than this. Sealing is the roof. The ceiling is the roof. So listen, I think your takes in this regard have been nothing short of, disastrous. No, no, you know what, I am feeling a groundswell
Starting point is 00:31:21 on Twitter, folks, keep tweeting at me. There are people coming out of the woodwork saying they're exactly right. He doesn't win. He might stink. Thank you for calling me off. I get that. Multiple messages every day. So I don't want to thank.
Starting point is 00:31:34 I want to thank those people. That's so brave considering one of the last three major championships that was played on the men's side. But you know, I appreciate your willingness to stick by this one. Counterpoint, he tied Mike Weir today. That's tough. I don't like Weir was in like 220 off the tee. That is tough.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Now, let's say this, do you expect Rom like a good 10 years from now to have at least two major championships? I do. Would that be like satisfactory? No. Okay, now let's talk satisfactory. No. Okay. Now let's talk DJ.
Starting point is 00:32:06 Oh. Love it. I think I've been very consistent on DJ. That's true. My associate Ron Carter, not so much. I hear what I say. I think the 20, 20 masters counts as a half major. Love that.
Starting point is 00:32:17 But if you win this one, it fully validates 2020. So then you would go from one and a half to three. Is that fair? That's interesting. Let me think on that. Okay. And we were discussing. Oh then he would go from one and a half to three. Is that fair? That's interesting. Let me think on that. Okay. And we were discussing,
Starting point is 00:32:28 he should have four. Well, maybe you could even convince me that he gets a half for like if you add up the sum of the parts of whistling straights and pebble and, you know, chamber, things of that nature. Add those up, that might add up to another half. So I think the number is two. Okay.
Starting point is 00:32:42 You know, I think you can round up from one and a half to reach two. I think if he wins this week, it will be a legitimate three. It will be three. Yeah. I kind of like, it's kind of like, I don't know what, it's not tie goes to the runner here, but similar there. Similar there. Similar there.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Okay. And that's good because make no mistake, he needs to win, like he needs to get to at least three. I think two is unsatisfactory. Yeah. It's not good enough. It's unbeclinging. Quite frankly, it's unbecoming.
Starting point is 00:33:07 Padre Harrington has three, no disrespect. Exactly. Pain Stewart had three, no disrespect. I mean, he's 37 years old. It's not that he's like getting old, but you know, he's not, he's not in his 20s anymore. He's got to start winning a couple here. Has it, hasn't won since the last masters.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Padre's were catalysts also, but it's true they're here no there Where all of them catalysts. I think O7 was not O7 bridge was not very. Yeah. Yeah, but two the the two O8 ones were Calis so let's rattle off just a couple more here. Okay, maybe ready for more just a few more if if you'll allow Lucas Herbert. Oh, you skipped one Billy Hortle. Shamest power. Patrick Reed. He. Adam Scott. A lot of master's champs going down today. Max Homa.
Starting point is 00:33:57 That one's tough. That's tough. I'm sorry, Max. Nice start, too. I know. I'm sorry. Sorry. You knew the rules, Max. No, he, you knew the rules. You know how much max likes playing on the PJ tour to you know how much it seems like Is having a good time. That's gonna sting for him to not play out not play professional So why I want people to picture as we're going through names is the scene from Rudy where everyone lays the jerseys down That's what these guys have to do in to Randy's office. No, I would say if you have self respect Yeah, you will withdraw and turn in your tour card. Because it's, it's, I've said what it is. Zach Johnson.
Starting point is 00:34:30 Sure. It's Diane Harmon. K H Lee. K H Lee, big bounce back. You have to admit that he used five over at one point. It was back to you. Sep Stracco. I'm just happy to be here.
Starting point is 00:34:43 Aaron Austin, Austin, Gre here. Aaron Austin. Austin. Greaser. Good showing from Austin today. That's impressive. Padrik Harrington. That's probably playing some low key, nice golf, too. Mike Weir. I would let him keep.
Starting point is 00:34:57 That's over a cheat. I think champions tour guys get to stick around. JJ Spawn. Gone. Short lift. Yeah. Did not respawn. Cool that he won in his. Gone. Short lift. Yeah. Did not respawn.
Starting point is 00:35:06 Cool that he won in his last attempt though, really. Yeah. Rory McElroy. Pause. Guys, what's going on? I mean, again, I write with speed. I didn't get emotionally invested. This is a me problem for me.
Starting point is 00:35:21 I didn't sense any, you know, we're over here in Scotland, not that people necessarily have to be the biggest, but the Molly Mollens could not have cared less that Rory McElroy was playing golf. I think we got one comment. One guy looked over at us, Rory made like a 15 foot apart on 14, right? And I think he goes, that's pretty fucking Rory, right? Like eight years ago, nine years ago, I, that place is probably hanging on every shot of his. Here's what I'll say. He did not, I'm not even mad, this is not a coverage take. He didn't get star, star player treatment.
Starting point is 00:35:53 No. He got just another guy treatment on the telecast today. Is, is he ever gonna win another major? Yes or no? I think he wins another major. I don't, I don't see the masters happening. I think 2020 was his best chance when it was played out of order and didn't have the eight month buildup. He's getting one of those guys that plays in the par three contest when he's like 65.
Starting point is 00:36:18 It's like, man, how did Rory never win a master? But I think it's it's it's becoming more and more clear to me. Tiger winning five of these, being not a good driver. Rory wins tournaments because he's a great driver. And this course just, it is not a prerequisite to be a exquisite driver of the golf ball. It is, you have to be very precise, you have to hit your numbers with irons. And that is not Rory's go-to skill.
Starting point is 00:36:42 Speaking of which, would you like to read the next name? Colin. More collar. Oh man. He had a lot of problems. That's disappointing. Yeah. I got to say. Yeah. God, I'm just, I want him, I totally unrealistic, totally in me problem. I just want him, I want anybody to lift and separate, right? Right? And I would love to see him just start wrecking people and it just doesn't seem like it's gonna happen, which, listen, anybody who knows anything about Prog Office and be like, that's unlikely that anybody's gonna do that. Bad news here.
Starting point is 00:37:13 But I need it. I have to chime in our coach, Cory Lundberg, from the Alta's Performance Center. He said, Sully, exit from Speed Island is one way ticket, no coming back. Oh, I love it, Cory. I am not exiting. I just didn't get hyped for this one. I've it, Corey. I am not exiting. I just didn't get hyped for this one.
Starting point is 00:37:26 I will never leave him. He's not leaving. He's just being super bitchy at one of the latest in the council meetings. I'm not here. No, no, no. The trash has been late every Tuesday. I'm not emotionally invested in this one.
Starting point is 00:37:40 I'm not emotionally invested this one. I've written this one off. That was budgeted for. We're totally fine with that. Long-term, are we in a million, million percent? I'll directly look in camera. Speed, I will never leave you. I'm just not emotionally invested in this one.
Starting point is 00:37:54 No, you denied him three times. That one here. That one here. That one here. That one here. That one here. Go listen to Cory's podcast, by the way. It's very good.
Starting point is 00:38:02 The alt is performance podcast. You can tell when it's just an ad set of this. You learn way more. You learn different stuff. You will not learn all 72 people that, that Tugger wins beat today. Do you want to keep going? Sure.
Starting point is 00:38:17 I got it. Tug is more. Mark Leishman. That one's tough. Tuggering gets him free money from Toronto. Tom Hogi. Come. I think he's cooled off on Forge.
Starting point is 00:38:28 He was the best player in the world for a minute there. Baba Watson. True. Proper player though. Russell Henley. Hmm. I don't think he's out of it yet. Not on the tournament.
Starting point is 00:38:39 Yeah. Okay. Big shot. Robert McIntyre. Such a bummer man. I had it under par at the turn. Christian Buzadenhut. I can't add much there.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Eric Van Royen. It kind of looks like Daniel DeLuis these days. Shane Lowry. Looks like a monopoly character. A pre-tornament favorite. Yeah, that one hurts. That one stinks me. I abandoned my boy.
Starting point is 00:39:02 McKenzie Hughes. Hey, great applause on that one. Incredible. Shang today on 15, a almost took out, I don't know who his playing partner was, almost took out his playing partner's caddy. It went right of the pond, hit someone in the crowd or a tree or something and came back inwards
Starting point is 00:39:18 and he tweeted out, he's like, I know it looked bad on camera, but it looked worse in person somehow. Did a crowd wave and a hat tip after it. So big ups to you because he used that was sick. You wanna keep going? We don't have too many left. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Min Wouley. And I will also take Min G Lee, his sister's LPGA card. It's culpable. Aiding it a bedding. That's exactly right. Victor Hovlin. And now we're to the even parts. So these people lost by one.
Starting point is 00:39:51 So close. What, can you pause real quick? Sure. What do we think of Hovlin's pants? I gotta say, I know they're getting a lot of shit. I think I was in. If you're gonna be on this stage, it was because they're outrageous.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Like if you're gonna be on that stage, like, what did Stephanie Appstein who you just had on the trap draw? It was talking about baseball. She's like, at least, at least just made up. It's all just a made up, stupid game that adults play. If you're going to be played a made up game for all the money, you guys all wear stupid pants. I was, I'm way it. Keep it up, Victor. I mean, the white stripe just felt a little unnecessary. Exactly. The pink one, that's not gonna do it.
Starting point is 00:40:28 It was spike in the football. Pink is doable. It was something you never seen. We've looked like you need to be wearing like pumps with them or something. Yeah. Having said that, the cash had a war footage of a shirt today.
Starting point is 00:40:38 Instead of the Nike shirt. Nike didn't do like their normal Thursday offensive stuff. I mean, it wasn't good, right? It wasn't like. See, we've gotten over their floral print. Yeah. Fina, it's not looking good. Well, no.
Starting point is 00:40:52 I mean, I don't know. That was by Nike standards, I think. I don't think Scott Hoke out there, right? Yeah. Was it cotton? I think he had a cotton like it. What's the opposite of dry joy? Wet joy, that's a wet boy.
Starting point is 00:41:04 Let's finish the list here. Terrell Hatton. Even par. Watch watch the space. Abraham answer. Toss break on the back of 12. Yeah. It's a nice round for Abe.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Yeah. Sergio Garcia. God never count about. I didn't realize he was. He played that way. Tigers can take pride in that one. Keeta Nakajima. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:41:25 Low Am. Even par for an amateur. We're saying I feel like the Netflix guys are probably following him. I think that was a big reason they were allowed to film in Augusta. That would not surprise me. That would be a cool, cool episode for him
Starting point is 00:41:35 shooting even par as an amateur to Augusta. Lee Westwood shocking. Call him a real good friend. Yeah. Choral Schwarzel. Kind of shocked about that too. Where's your E and your S? Shout to Chris Vernon who makes the best masters update videos every single year Cameron champ Good round of golf good. That's impressive. He has not yeah, you can come back
Starting point is 00:41:56 Well, it's harder to be a mean to the guys even par Lucas Glover. I love it's good round of golf. Yeah, that's that's too bad I liked watching him play it's a bummer. We'll be back. The decky Matsuyama a little injured good round of golf again as a defending champ. He'll probably be around for the weekend. Taylor Gooch He's kind of lead for a little while. I'm gonna get on him for that one and Garrett Higo It's strong little outs since he won so again not a bad round of golf So that concludes that's all the players the Tiger beat will one, will one of those men withdraw? I think one of them will. I'm sure I just I just want to say it that YouTube video that I pulled up to play that song. We played seven minutes and 20 seconds just naming people that Tiger beat today.
Starting point is 00:42:37 God, that's amazing. What's going to happen tomorrow? Golf course is going to get our spicy cat was like, Lincoln is lips seemed like is it how how spicy it's going happen tomorrow? Golf course is gonna get our spicy. Cat was like licking his lips, seemed like it was just how spicy it's about to get. Is it gonna blow? Oh, it's gonna mega blow. The wind is forecasted to blow. My great weather app has told me that winds are expected to be 20 miles an hour, gusts up to 30.
Starting point is 00:42:57 We didn't wait till Toronto gets here with the paid app. Toronto's all over the wind. Can you imagine what happened this morning to us? With our door window happening like the crow's nest over? Mother Nature woke us up this morning by blowing through the windows here of our Airbnb here in St. Andrews. I felt like I was out on the... I don't know. Exactly that Titanic. Oh my god. To those watching live, how's our Wi-Fi by the way? I'm actually, it seems to be rolling pretty good, which we were concerned about that. Well, what does the weather do for the cat?
Starting point is 00:43:26 Because in my mind going in, it seems like the harder it gets, the better it would be for him, just because it adds more variables to everybody else, is tomorrow the chilly day, because chilly's not good for the cat. I think that's more of the weekend. Okay, I think Saturday is the chilly day. I agree. I think if par is a great score,
Starting point is 00:43:43 advantage cat. I was just like, he still looks like a top 10 iron player on tour, right? And maybe that's outrageous and maybe that's just me watching every shot of his and getting excited about it. But he's truly like when he says I'm missing in the right places, he's always
Starting point is 00:43:58 on the right side of the hole. He's never like short-sighted. He's never doing any of that horrible stuff. And that's where like you talked about with John Wood and like you talked about earlier tonight, like the challenge at Augusta is going to be hitting to those tiny shelves and more importantly, like not missing just right of those tiny shelves
Starting point is 00:44:13 or just left of those tiny shelves. And it seems like with the driver, I mean, he's gonna drive it bad in good weather or bad weather, right? And the iron plate is gonna be what separates. So his touch looks good too. I mean, like the shot he hit into seven after being out of position,
Starting point is 00:44:28 the little open the face up used to bounce. I hit it right back there. Those are the shots that like when you haven't been in competition for a long period of time or kind of like a question mark, I would say. I mean, look, did he have a horrible bogey on eight? That still just made no sense. And I feel like he definitely should have gotten up
Starting point is 00:44:42 and down on 14. But he made some saves that, you know, he saved on one. That was huge. And gosh, he almost gained a huge about a shot and a half on the field, probably by birdying number five. That was when it was kind of like, okay, we got the cat might be doing some stuff here. Six iron from like 218 or something like that. So did we talking about Bryson?
Starting point is 00:45:08 I mean, the expectations for later. I feel bad for the dudes. I know. That's tough for them. Should we play how far back is too far back? Yeah, we were doing some preliminary. Yeah, I mean, who wants to start? The leader, solo leader at five under. I think that I think with tough weather, I think two overs still in it. Yeah, three overs too far back. It's a good point with the weather. I think it's going to lift and separate. The good players are going to shine tomorrow. I see God tomorrow is going to be so soon.
Starting point is 00:45:41 Who do you see bucking though in that in that cohort? I mean, honestly, I think the weather's going to be great for Cam tomorrow. I see God tomorrow is going to be so who do you see bucking though in that in that cohort. I mean, look, honestly, I think the weather's going to be great for Cam tomorrow. I do too. Cam, I see like Shane Lowry couldn't make a move out of that. I was I know I was very high on Russell, he'll be coming in a double the first and kind of got behind the eight ball. I think he's a guy that is going to move up. It might be a slow move up, but I think he's going to be he's going to be It might be a slow move up, but I think he's gonna be there on Sunday. There's no one. Patrick Fitzpatrick is like, he's the guy that we always say it after the fact.
Starting point is 00:46:11 I feel like we never check the weather forecast and put two and two together. It's gonna get shitty Fitzpatrick's gonna play well. He's right there. I can see him having a nice round. Do we want to talk about the, can I take all that back? I forgot about the cacain of chipping. Yeah, that was news to you. That's that's that's not good.
Starting point is 00:46:26 That was alarming. Yeah. He busted that the first time we saw that was match play. And I just I can't comment on it. It makes me too uncomfortable. Like you're supposed to have a good short. You don't hit it far. You're supposed to have a good short game.
Starting point is 00:46:37 You can't be chipping cacanet totally random. But as I'm looking at the leaderboard, two shout outs. One big tone. I tried to warn you. I said he, he, he hit the bottom at the match play and he started, he was on the come up, played nice today. One under you must acknowledge, you did not read off his name. He's no, I don't play pro golf.
Starting point is 00:46:54 That's a shock. And which I think is good for the cat. That's one of the few players left for him to beat on tour, right? Yeah. And also Web Simpson, who's been completely in the wilderness, right? Injuries and just kind of been such a proper player. I know. I always get pumped to see Web. Is he a mother?
Starting point is 00:47:09 Can he start grinding if the weather gets a little dicey? I'll say also, Harold Varner too. I mean, I know he had the eagle on 13, but it was three over through 12. Got it back to one of them there. That's what it's shouting out. Watson, tell me how my ass tastes. Yeah, how about that? Watson I be in Watson predicted an 81 for Hellfarner for no reason
Starting point is 00:47:31 They predicted like 75 for Stuart Haggistad and 81 for Hellfarner He took that very personally. That was tough. There's no one at plus three that scares me Capca's the only name there that you know could do like Sam Burns is sitting there plus three, but I think, I think plus three is too far back. I do too. Didn't Watson predict like a 75 from Ram? He shot 74. It predicted 70 for Ram.
Starting point is 00:47:56 Oh, I should've predicted 74 for Rory. That's right, 73. That's right, yeah, he's dead. Watson does a figure too, but. Yeah, all right, I agree. We should talk Will's out towards too. Yeah. He's lurking there at one under par. At first five rounds in the Masters, all under par.
Starting point is 00:48:14 God, that's mind blowing. He had it to 300, then he bogeed 14, and then also bogeed 18. I think he could boge on 18. Yeah. I think he played a little better than it maybe shows that he did. I will say, I feel really good about him on the three footers now. He's got the Infinity Loop stroke. He's got the Cowl.
Starting point is 00:48:34 He's added patience to it. It's almost like the Stu Sink does the little pump fakes. I feel like he takes his time with the stroke now to get almost like the Neil fluid motion putting thing he's got going right now, and then he intentionally hits him off the toe. Like he is hitting three foot puts off the toe, but like he does an infinity loop and almost like kind of open pushes him with the toe and he's been making them with you. That sounds like a pretty sustainable. It's going to be incredible to watch as he gets into contention. But he makes so many medium range puts.
Starting point is 00:49:07 He gets that 20 foot honey hole. Go look at the pot on three, the birdie pot on number three, and then the pot that he made on number 12, he hits both of them off the dead toe of the potter. It's insane, but it looks almost intentional. I need somebody to explain that to him. I got a question, I got a question listening. Are the masters greens, listening. It's just, go ahead, Randy.
Starting point is 00:49:25 Are the masters greens, are Augusta's greens really that difficult to put? I'm gonna say yes. I think the answers, yes. But I think what you're getting at, maybe, is like, I'm so difficult that maybe bad putters can win. Are they so difficult that it's difficult for everybody
Starting point is 00:49:42 or are they so overhyped as difficult and they're not really that difficult. Here's what I'll say, having never hit a putt on you. Because there are some very shaky masters winners. Baba, Hadecki, I mean, Sal Taurus has played well. All those guys just hit it so good, though. Mikkelson is so hit or miss. I feel like they're still two putting a lot, but they but they're two-putting from the right spots, right? Whereas if you're not hitting a good
Starting point is 00:50:07 and you're spinning down slopes, you're missing on the wrong side or whatever, you have a stressful day. Whereas those guys, if they're hitting to the right spots because they're in better control, they're irons, it seems like even though they're not making everything, they're still have, their three-footers
Starting point is 00:50:19 are much less scary. I have a theory. I have a theory that on on perfect greens that are super quick. The guys who naturally put tentatively and defensively it almost helps them. Whereas guys that are like I'm banging this in the hole every week. Like I don't know that's totally but there's something about these like I'm like are they really that hard to put. So here's what I'll say. Something Zach Blair said I think on this pod many years ago was when he got out on the PJ tour,
Starting point is 00:50:48 he was surprised how many, like from eight feet in, how infrequently he had to start the ball outside the hole. Like the PJ tour might put pins like near the edges of greens, but it's rarely on a very sloped spot in the green. That is not the issue with the masters. The pins are often on weirds. Like you'll see so many forefooters. There was a lot of low camera shots where you could
Starting point is 00:51:10 see how far outside the hole they had to go. So you have to get like if you are, if you have anything inside eight feet that is not that dependent on speed, you can kind of decide what speed you want to make it at, how much break you want to play, et cetera. Some of these puts like the the speed put on four was dude, you, you can only hit this one speed and you got to hit the exact spot. You, like, you got to hit it out here, outside the hole and have the visualization do it. And if you make any error here, your toast,
Starting point is 00:51:33 and that I think is what makes Augusta different. And you can get in a zone, and if you're hitting your spots there, it looks, it looks pretty easy. But I think it's honestly a reflection too of, like, where you're leaving it on some of these greens to have the puts that are makeable. Yeah. Alright.
Starting point is 00:51:47 That'd be my theory on it. So, okay. Who could say, who would you... If you look at data golf, like it emphasizes like the putting skill equal to every PGA tour course. So it's like, it emphasizes driving distance a little bit. It really de-emphasizes driving accuracy and it increases the emphasis on approach play. Compared to an average PGA tour course. Well, it's interesting.
Starting point is 00:52:11 You know we skipped over, just worth mentioning. Corey Connors. Yes. He was a guy that has played well here in the past. He's playing pretty decent coming in. Just wanna acknowledge that. I've been converted to a believer. He seems like it's weird to say,
Starting point is 00:52:27 does not seem like it matches his game, but seems like kind of a hunter, like a proper golfer. I mean, seems to show up. Seems to show up at majors, man. I don't know, it's great golf swing. Yeah, it's fun to watch. I hope he sticks around. Matt Wolfe, not good.
Starting point is 00:52:41 Not good. Tried to put out of a bunker. Today that didn't go well. Broke a club. I might try that put out of a bunker today. That didn't go well. Broke a club. How am I trying to try that this week? Broke a club. That didn't go well. I will say give a shout out to Shane Bacon today,
Starting point is 00:52:54 doing the commentary on Tiger Woods' round on Masters.com. That was a thrill. I told him this, but it's like, I forget that's one of our friends doing commentary because he's so good at it. And that was a thread of a little tip. Are people to be mad if we don't talk about Danny Willett? I think so. We should talk.
Starting point is 00:53:09 No, it's unbelievable. I don't think there's people who are in bed. It's two a.m. That's true. We can just get back. Okay. What do you want to say? No, well, nothing.
Starting point is 00:53:17 I was. He throwing it out there for the group. He was plus four prizes. Very surprised. He's up there plus four point one in Stroke's Game Pudding today. It's unsustainable. He was number one in the field surprised. He's up there plus 4.1 in Stroke's game putting today. It's unsustainable. He was number one in the field on Stroke's game putting. If he made this last, I'd be gladly
Starting point is 00:53:33 e my hat on that one, but I'm not concerned. And the only other kind of big big name would be Cantland. Who kind of hit the, you know, did what you're supposed to do again? Got it on the back. For round 70, like that's exactly where you want to be. Yeah. I will say, you know, I'm a, I'm a, I feel like I'm gonna hit the, you know, debuts are supposed to do again. Got it on the back. For Trump's 70, like that's exactly where you wanna be. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:46 I will say, you know, I'm a, I feel like I'm a can't lay defender and you're not as much of a can't lay guy. I ain't quite do it for me. Working in your case today, I kind of forgot about can't lay until you're like, I'm like, oh, I forgot about Patrick can't lay. Yeah, we should probably watch him play.
Starting point is 00:53:59 Just a bummer, because I love when he gets asked interesting, quite, I think he's a very thoughtful smart guy, but don't do anything for me. Somebody we definitely left out, Harry Higgs. How about the Harry had a day? How about looking up and seeing, I've mentioned this to you guys, but what a world looking up and being like,
Starting point is 00:54:17 man, do you think Tiger Woods can chase down Harry Higgs as a master? So that's, God, that's the world I want to live in. If you're Harry, like, would you be going out trying to shoot the best round tomorrow or are you trying to tie Tiger to get in his Saturday? What is actually really good? What is that going to do for your pit possibility? Harry's got to be, I mean, he practices it Trinity forest, right? Like he, he's got to be like in his chops at the wind tomorrow, right? Bring it on. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:54:44 He doesn't have a bunch of course knowledge there. I know he doesn't have a bunch of course knowledge there. I know he doesn't have a ton of experience there and Augusta can eject you pretty hard, but listen, if it's going to eject everybody, then hopefully he hangs on. Cody, what do you got for us? Alex Alex has been in the chat for the last 30 minutes just begging for this moment to come. I feel like we need to get him on one of these live shows, but the man says that Harry's feeling it. So they're there.
Starting point is 00:55:08 There you go. You know, I mean, you want to talk about the condinis. You know what I love seeing from Harry and Alkin, either confirm or disconfirm this. He was walking so slow out there. You always hear like the cliche of just like slowed out, slowed out. And Harry's, Harry's picking the ball of eye, the hole, just loapin' around. I know he's never in a big hurry to go anywhere,
Starting point is 00:55:30 but I was a big fantasy of that. Keep that up tomorrow. Here's that he's afraid of the death panel from Alex himself. We need to keep our cards. We have to be the cat tomorrow, apparently. There you go. There you go.
Starting point is 00:55:44 You know what, Al Al you should be thrilled that we've not mentioned Harry's name to this part because we named off everyone that has to turn in their tour card. Who knows the Harry's a fighter? That's right. A little pride. I want to say on the sustainability scale,
Starting point is 00:55:56 Harry hit the shit out of it today. He was 4.08 in Stroke's Gain T-Degreene. He actually lost strokes on the green today and shot one under par. He was overall sixth in the field in Stroke's Gain T-Degrean. He actually lost strokes on the green today and shot one under par. He was overall sixth in the field in Strokes Gain T-Degrean. Which is awesome, because I think that's like obviously where exceedingly biased, love, hairy,
Starting point is 00:56:13 die in front of him to play well. I feel like we've been just waiting for it for like a year, right? He's just one of those guys that's like, God, that's such a ball hitter, man. Where's he been? When is it gonna click? And hopefully it is. Hopefully we're at the start of something big. Well, and it's also awesome hearing him detail the story of getting into the masters
Starting point is 00:56:29 at the PGA, knowing what's at stake, and very begrudgingly giving Alex credit at the end for the proper read on the putt that sent him to the masters. So I do hope you guys are enjoying the walk because it does look really, really fun. So, anything else that we missed, Cody, anything we missed? What do people mad about? Well, I wanna apologize to everybody first. So we changed up some settings, so we didn't have the great bot attack at 2020.
Starting point is 00:56:57 Yeah. Unfortunately, in doing so, I disabled the live chat feature for about the first five minutes, but we got it dialed back in. So I apologize to everybody who's out there. Thank you for tuning in. Cody, will you turn in your tour card after that? What's up with all these people still asked about JT? We covered this one. We gave it that the proper attention. That was top billing at the top of the show. You have to go back and listen to that one in the podcast
Starting point is 00:57:24 feed. People came for blood. They want JT. They want Paul Casey talk. They want. Oh, we didn't talk Paul Casey. What is there? I mean, he's hurt, right? He's what it's heard you talk about. I mean, he was how much, you know, I will talk about this. How much did Paul Casey not playing help cam Smith today? I think that would have actually helped him. At least least two or three shots. It could have been. I will. It's just he did not get 40k for withdrawing from this tournament. I will say, but also incredible that he tried to tee it up at the match play with Drew at
Starting point is 00:57:55 the last second on the Thursday, finally with Drew on Friday and still can't play two weeks after that. It's kind of like it. Was that a money grab at the match play? It's really hard to argue otherwise right now. Also, for criticizing him two weeks ago, I have horrible back spasms for the last last week. So maybe you turn into your card. Cats out there shooting one under. I always say, Oh, God, I can't pick up my tea. I can't pick up a ball on the whole. He's begging me to pick the ball out of the whole forum Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:58:22 That is not trendy. You gotta get it out of the whole. That is false. I just put it in play one of those plots. Did you want to shout out your sponsor? I wanted one and one. I don't have one yet. I want one. I will gladly use one. And Randy did not pick my ball out of the hall because I never made it in the whole. That's true. I think we hit like one hole combined. Gary, big and I have been big on the on the ice bass. And I'm happy to do that Tigers getting ready to dive in tonight. So I got to freeze myself tonight. So cold. Just really cold. I call it cold. It's cold. It's not a recovery. Gary player, repping the golf Saudi on the neck today also came to
Starting point is 00:59:01 Phil's defense today. We didn't talk about coke rags. You 200 right? A lot of kids, a lot of boys and girls are re-ad on the neck today also came to Phil's defense today. Try to remind me we didn't talk about co-crack shoot 200. That's right. A lot of kids, a lot of boys and girls of Riyadh probably stay up late, watch that, which is cool. I think that's gonna just about do it for our Thursday night recap. We will be back every night for the remainder of this week.
Starting point is 00:59:19 Who leads tomorrow? Cam Smith. We gotta go hit up the local shops. I'm gonna say DJ. I'm gonna say DJ too. I think he's playing in the morning. Cam's going We got to go hit up the local shops. I'm going to say DJ. I'm going to say DJ too. I think he's playing in the morning. Cam's going out in the afternoon. Got to think it's going to be windy windy. I still think Cam is probably going to win, but I'm picking DJ at the end around two. It's either it's either Cam or Rory. So thank you everyone for tuning in to the live show. We'll see you back here every night
Starting point is 00:59:44 the rest of the week. Cheers That's better than most That is better than most. Better than most.
