Feeling that I had today, that I get often on our golf trips where I play great and it's like, dude, I am never, I got it. Never missing a fairway again. Like how, you know, I am so back, I'm at a new level, we've found it. And then, and I let myself feel that way about Rory yesterday and the wedge he hit into 17 was just like, man,

just one hop and a ground rule double over the green. And he's like, God, you know, just have a little bit of patience with him. And I'm disappointed in myself for letting my expectations be too high. He flashed it yesterday, like he showed it yesterday. But I will say, think about, I'm not trying to give him a pass. Well, I would say my I'm saying he's not out of it. Yeah, but watch this space perception is reality a little bit So when guys all around him, you know are going on, you know Zaltor's suburbian three in a row lighten it up today Well, that's what I mean in this yeah, you're like man This is the round to get it. That's tough. That 71 that he just shot, I mean, he shot what, 37 on the front. He was two over on the front.

It was like a 74 or a 75, comparatively to what the guys in the morning wave went through. So we went from about a 30% chance of him winning as of the end of day yesterday. It fell by 17% chance, this is bad math. He was 24% going into today, fell by 17 down to seven. He's like pre-tornum and he's like 5%. So we're kind of back at like pre-tornum and like probably won't happen.

So that a lot of the work from yesterday. It did, yes. I agree. But what I'm saying is there's, yes, we're halfway home. There's still a lot of work to be done. It's like, oh, no, you're saying that like, what the guys in the morning did, deserve double the credit and it makes worries

around this afternoon look worse but all that morning microwave doesn't matter doesn't matter they're all playing the same course you know same side they're going on he's going off late so well there should be there should be some handicap in going on like guys that played well like like JT should should yeah have a head start. With DJ's logic, then how much did that take out of JT today? He's got to be exoskely. I mean, mentally, he was so locked in with fours, he's going to feel easy tomorrow.

That's true. He's got 24 hours to rest. He got to either way. He seemed like after his round, he was very much just like, yeah, we're halfway through. If anything, it felt like he was cruising at like 85% just to make sure he didn't overexpress. And like, let's not overstate, it was hard this morning, but it wasn't a biblical all-time, like historically tough major round. No, in the gap between the two is actually less than it was yesterday. The gap between the two waves.

I was very, very surprised by that because it did feel like it was just a feeding frenzy in that in that back half. But it felt like JT's round was just like it was not sexy at all. He didn't make a ton of putts. He didn't shoot a crazy low number. He didn't stuff every iron shot. It was just like every shot was the calculated smart major championship shot on repeat. And it just felt like he was in total control of his golf ball. It felt like he was ball in hand with a cue ball. Just like, I'm gonna put it here. I'm gonna put it here.

And I think he'll probably get a little bit more aggressive as the week goes along. And now that he's, you know, kind of got that tough wave out of the way. But you don't get, there's no grading on a curve anymore. He's three shots back going in the weekend. I would, with JT, I would add to what you said to the educated eye that was high class golf. Totally.

The shots I'm thinking of are coming out of the rough with a pitching wedge, landing at 15 yards short and letting it bound to pin high. It was a great spotting. Like, okay, I'm going to leave it. I have to care this water hazard, but I, you know, I got a bunker on the left, so I'm going to just shoot this gap, talking through it with bones. Like, that's... It was Greg Maddick stuff.

Yeah, it's almost like when I watch something like figure skating in the Olympics, I can't see how good that triple acts. So you know, the Johnny Wear guy's going nuts. Like, did you see the way he landed? Like, toe side, whatever. It's like... Johnny Wear out of this.

Well, no, but Johnny Wears and Educated I in that sport. And I'm feel like a lot of people are probably like, oh, yeah, out of the rough, that was decent. Yeah, he just rolled it right up. It's like, damn, that was a sick shot. Rory didn't drive as well today. He missed more fairways. Like I just, I would feel a lot better about him

if he shot even Parry yesterday and then went and got it today and felt like he had momentum and everything. This, again, it feels like Bay Hill all over again. He shot 65 72 76 76 of Bay Hill. I'm not saying he's I don't think there's two 76s out there for him this weekend But I think today planted a seat of doubt. I think it's hard to go for four great rounds I think it's hard to go for so I hope that's the bad one. He's not dead I'm still I mean like you said earlier, we will be taking

at T5 for life shots within the lead. If he goes out in 30 tomorrow, you never know. You never know. Stats wise, he was gained point eight off the tee, but that was down a shot from yesterday. He was negative point eight approaching the green today. So he gave he had nothing. He just field average ball striking. He just did really well. Got a lot more conservative today. And it was basically neutral in the greens. So it just was, it just didn't have much oomph behind it. But you know, who did head some oomph behind it? Trills out of us. Little Willie. That was, I don't know how, he's not first in Strokes game to approach. I don't know how. I mean, it was, he was 10th on the day in that stat. I, I, I, you must have had some shots first. I can get that for you. But I,

it, you must have had some shots that gave I can get that for you, but you must have had some shots that gave some back because that his finishing nine was just a ball striking exhibition. The shot he hit on 17 was where it was kind of like, all right, just getting a little silly. A little look at me. I would, I think he might have been number one in Stroke's game sound of the ball coming off the close. Stroke's game flushing. I just, his, I mean, he's fun to watch him hit the golf ball.

Maybe the new Harris English. Yeah. Top iron, putt, top approaching the green today. Gary Woodland, Tyrell Hatton, Bubba, Max, Denny McCarthy, Davis Riley, Tommy Fleetwood, Adam Hadwin, San Burns, then Will's Allataurus. A lot of those in the second wave. That's another thing with like the stats don't reflect what they're not adjusted for the conditions you play in it proud of my guy Tommy

battling plus one battling in that morning wave Shaddling cool man, sure. I feel like there's seven eight nine ten more players to get to be a plus one speed shot 69 today. That was one of the worst 69s ever seen Can we stick out to our thoughts? Yeah Are we are we what how do we feel about them going into the weekend? I, I feel absolutely thrilled to watch it, right? There's so many things on this leaderboard already that are, are setting up for just a highly entertaining weekend. And maybe, to your point, Neil, maybe that's not necessarily to like, the super casual

fan, but I, I do feel like this is a hardcore golf fans type of leaderboard. Where we got the weather changing, I'm sure we'll get to that. Things getting a lot colder. We've got a really good golf course that could change a little bit. I don't know if they're going to cut it down a little bit. I know we'll talk about course set up from today a little bit, but Ken's out to us, hang on to the putting because the putting has looked low key like really solid. And he's putting in that

shirt. He was leading the field yesterday. He's leading the field in the stroke game putting I believe still at to this point, but he is plus 2 10 to win the PGA championship right now. It feels feels very right. I think that feels spot on. It makes me uncomfortable either way. So that means it's probably a good line. But I'm thrilled to see. I mean, again, I think with both him and Mito, I know they're probably different talent levels, although Mito is the meat to movement. Mito is a stud in his own right, but just always a thrill to watch somebody who's never won on the PGA tour, try to go win a major, which is wild that he's never won the PGA tour.

And I also don't think that we can discount that, that like all we talk about coming into the majors is like horses, horses, horses, big guns, big guns, big guns and like that's usually how they settle out. And I'm not saying Zalatoris isn't gonna win, but we've seen this before as well. But a different kind of horse is a dude that gets a shot better in Stroke's Gained

in major championships. And that has been zalatoris to date in his career. Very young professional career, but he's like a 1.3 strokes game guy, accounting for everything. But in majors, he's been 2.3 and 2.3 is like John Rom every week. And that's including he had a one really bad finish at one of them that's bringing him down. He's had like peak weeks where you're gaining three to four shots on the field and not winning, which is actually pretty rare on the PGA tour or in professional golf in general.

So like he has put out big performances in majors already to this point. So I kind of, not having one on the PGA tour doesn't really bother me as much. He's been in contention in majors and has performed really well. So I don't know. I don't feel like that. I'm with you. I don't think he's not going to go shoot 85 this weekend or something like that. It's just who is going to shoot 85 this weekend. You want to say me though, but you're afraid of do it.

Tease it next year. I do want to say me though, but I'm not going to shout him out last night for a reason. T.C. is in my draft Kings. I told you. You know what? There's a lot of like solid solid solid players up there. That's's what I was gonna kind of get at was going down the board. Again, this is surprising. This isn't like a casual, a casual fan leader board necessarily, but Zalatoris, like I can't wait to see what happens there. Mido, that's a name that we've said 55 times on our preview shows.

We've just like keep picking them for top 10s, top 20s, top 10s, top 20s. I keep picking him. I've picked him plenty. I've lost a lot of money on Mido. I have to. Something like that. He's over one shot, Shot's game T-Degrean, yes. But I can't wait to see what he does. JT, I think, is gotta be one of the top two or three kind of storylines coming in, at least from us, right? Like, what the hell is he gonna do? Can't wait to see what happens there. Bubba, Shot's 63 today and looked fucking unbeatable. What a indictment of the setup

I think one thing I where my head always goes here where I think we always say this during the majors is like I like the escalation. Sure.

I feel like the guys in that morning, in that PM Thursday, AM Friday, we've got boned up a little bit by some of the shorting. In shortening up some of the holes as well, some of the T-boxes.

I feel like if they played it as far back, it would have been exacerbated for that way. It would have just been like, it would have been potentially worse. Yeah, it would have been harder for that way, if I would have thought. Okay. I did it.

I did appreciate the question on screen. What was your, what's a course set up that you like and that's not a got you thing I'm just let's try to set the table here. Yeah, that's fine 1991 the you know 19 oh second round of the BC four masters would horn smith what I thought was good I think the firmness of the greens at Pebble a few years ago was good like that was it kind kind of, you know, it kept amping up throughout the week.

I gotta flash this one. This one, TC the kind of guy to hate SVP. You gotta flash that. I love SVP. Come on. No, I just, I don't know. I just feel like, in some of this is equipment based because it's tough to make shit hard for these guys, right?

And like, it's tough to make it hard for the guys that are playing really, really well. It's tougher than ever, right? So it's the line is, especially you get a day when you have a split weather, like I don't know how you get it to play even remotely fair. You can't win. I just, yeah, I don't know. You know what I think was sweet.

Randy was kind of on this block too. We haven't agreed on a lot this week, but this, I liked, these guys are all like, you know, you heard Zalator say it. It's like Velcro, like the greens are too shaggy., but this, I liked. These guys are all like, you know, you heard Zal Torced say, it's like, no, Crow, like the Greens are too shaggy. It's like, hey man. Adjust, why don't you come play a couple of munis with the scrap boys? What do you think we're playing?

That's kind of I felt about the conditions

as we caught him in the parking lot, was that total Brooks, I really don't give a shit. If I missed a cut or I'm gonna shoot 63 today. And we got the whole experience, you know?
