Well, it's a lot of people I had a great travel day because a lot of people didn't even get to travel today.
Big Randy calling in ready to do his state of the union on the United States Open Championship.
Hello, big Randy.
Hey guys, I'm hot.
The weather's hot out here.
I'm burning.
I got things to get off my chest.
Pist, Randy.
We're going to throw it to you first when we get through a couple of things.
Cody is going to be on bot patrol tonight.
He is the serge.
He will be popping in from time to time.
We got some guests coming in.
This is gonna be a lively show, if you will.
We want to give a shout out of course to our friends at Yeti Neal, ice update.
Well, the ice is holding strong, but I mean, it's going toe to toe with Rory.
I don't know.
I don't know.
It's going to be an interesting weekend, but it's hot here.
As you can see, we've lost some volume with drink,
with drinks, so the ice is falling,
but you can see solid, solid ice in there,
which is, you know, as a franchise, I said,
guys, these things were ice cold.
It's kind of like the back to the future
where the photographs fading,
and it's a race against it.
That's kind of like what we're up against with Rory.
I will say, it's very, very hot in here. I got off the plane today, and it was a race against it. That's kind of like what we're up against with Rory. I will say it's very, very hot in human here.
I got off the plane today and it was like 82 degrees in Boston
when we took off and it was 97 with like 81% humidity.
Doesn't matter when you got the vacuum seal.
It's impressive.
Doesn't matter.
I'd also call out the the ramblers here.
I got this hot shot thing on it.
I mean, just good engineering.
You can drink from 360 all around.
You just turn it, turn it open.
360, I got my sparkling water in here.
Randy, I know you love that sparkling water, just like me.
Oh boy, God, which I had a thing where I can make
sparkling water myself at home.
T.C.I threw some liquid death in here.
I think Randy's drinking a Fernando.
Yeah.
Listen, we were gonna squeeze another ad in there,
but I didn't want to get accused of anything
that we're gonna accuse CBCF here shortly.
But Randy, I know you got some things to your dying
to get off your chest.
We're gonna throw it to you first before you bring
in our first guest.
Stay to the union, US Open.
Well, I'd like to invite Tron, please try him in at any point.
Thank you.
You know, this, let me preface this by saying this is not a bit.
This is not a bit.
I think it sucks.
23 guys under par, lowest tied for the lowest cut ever in US open history.
They're putting water on the greens.
It just, they're spritzing.
It's a good course.
It could be, they put a lot of water on the greens.
Fun open.
And they're, and Boddenheimer and the boys are messing it up for us. It's a good course. It could be put a lot of a lot of greens fun open and
And they're in Boddenheimer and the boys are messing it up for us. I there's no reason why this lead shouldn't be at one under maybe two under at most
Heck even we got a lot of little boy pretenders under par on the leaderboard. It stinks. It's it's through two days
I give it a D plus
board. It stinks. It's through two days. I give it a D plus.
Carrible. Randy sounds like Peepaw, man. I would, they don't play it like they used to, man. I want, I want to see some carnage. I'm gonna, I'm
gonna put a request in. If you're going to say there's little boy
pretenders on the leaderboard, I'm gonna need names with that one.
Yeah. I had her boy looks pretty stacked. Randy's probably going to say
wrong. There are some, there are some, there's some thoughts I'll have up
there, but I want wanna hear your names.
Sure, happy to, happy to.
Hayden Buckley, could be the nicest guy in the world,
shouldn't be tied for third in US soap
and going into the weekend.
Roy McElroy, a lot of people think he's a little boy.
Pretender.
Stop.
Take his name out of your mouth.
Show me some things today, Randy.
No, Randy, you're at Randy. You're embarrassing me in front of my
notes. Nope, nope, nope, nope. Matthew Neesmith, Patrick Rogers.
I mean, come on. Brian, don't call Brian harm.
No, no, no, harm. It's not a little boy. It's get out of here.
He's making it in a big world. Stop that MJ Tuffy. Callum Terran. Trap. We got an amateur under par.
Like David Lingmerth, one of my favorite people should, should not be under par
through 36 holes in the US open. It's bad guys. It's bad.
Rainy, I think your point though is that nobody should be under par. It doesn't
matter who's under par. My thing is, like, I think the setup's been wonderful, except for the, and even if they had to,
I don't understand why they syringe today and didn't do it yesterday when I get, I,
I know today was hotter. There was also more storms in the forecast. There was more humidity.
And I'm still pissed about all the water they dumped on the greens and, and the surrounds
on Wednesday night. They had it exactly where they wanted it.
They backed off of it and like it's going to be cool all weekend.
It's going to be like mid mid mid mid to low 60s all weekend.
So like what are we trying to get ahead of here?
I wonder if it's the the thick rough around the greens.
If you get things to firm, it might get a little silly in terms of bulge is hitting the green roll into the back and
stopping the rough right like there it the way this course is set up with so
much thick rough around the greens if the green because the surrounds are not
either not playing how they would like them to or they're short you know that
the everything that's landing short is stopping in these that's the problem yeah
is that like it's not just the greens that are soft.
Some of the surrounds as well.
I would, I would add this, Randy. I agree with you. You said it earlier.
Haven't seen this many balls backing up in a US open.
That's a, that's a little, that's a little, I still want to backspin.
I feel like the US open right now is being graded on a curve, but I do disagree with you on the leaderboard. There is a great
ratio of Dogs versus little boys on this leaderboard like I'm going down this lift and I'm like man
There are some absolute players up here and then yeah, you can throw me a Hayden Buckley throw them to the dogs
Let's see does he get mauled does he come out? That's a great leaderboard to me like I I'm really into all the names
Up here. There's just enough of man. I don't know anything about like a good example is like,
I know who Patrick Rogers is.
I've never seen him in a big moment.
I'm excited to watch what he does tomorrow.
And he's got great lettuce on top of it all.
Patrick Rogers stinks.
I know, but I have never seen him like, let's see if he stinks tomorrow.
Like that's intriguing to me.
I don't think it's not a bunch of Patrick Rogers.
It's Patrick Rogers plus Moorakawa. let's see if he stinks tomorrow like that's intriguing to me i don't think it's not a bunch of patrick rogers it's a it's patrick rogers plus
more kawa
uh... uh... john rom
mackerel roe
i mean throat shetler balled out today like i so the classes being great on a
curve i agree with that
like everybody should be getting a c but they're bumping up some guys to a's
because they don't want to fail at school
i guess that's what we're what at. Two things, if I may.
I gotta say Randy, because I've heard you say this before
that you have admitted that your expectations
for this championship are unrealistic.
And so I just want, I'm helping you out here
to get this stated on the record
that what you're looking for out of this is not,
you're not looking necessarily looking for the most fair
and most like, you know, the most demanding test.
You're looking for borderline unfair.
That's one thing too.
Second thing, this golf course isn't that hard.
There's like six very getable holes on this golf course
that are with two good shots or one really good shot.
You are in great position for birdie, if not eagle.
And like that is gonna add up to a lot of guys
ending up under par.
But I'll also push back on that a little bit
as we've had wind both days,
which was the excuse at wing foot. We've had wind both days, which was the
excuse at wing foot.
We've had wind.
There's a ton of a ton of elevators.
This is firmer than wing foot was ton of a ton of undulation.
Lot of blind shots that make guys uncomfortable.
Lot of places to get in trouble in the bunkers like you can get.
You can get in a bad spot in there.
There's a little bit more trouble out there.
It feels like there's weirder spots to get into.
My thing is it just it just feels like they're playing it a little bit more trouble out there. It feels like there's weirder spots to get into. My thing is it just, it just feels like they're playing it
a little bit too safe.
Like they're, they're, they're, you know,
going to that side of the spectrum a little bit too much.
I think they've done a great job overall.
I just, the change from Wednesday to Thursday,
I'm hoping we see something overnight that's, you know,
it really pops.
Can I ask you this?
Do you think it is all water on the greens?
Like tea to green, do you like the set up?
I think it's fantastic.
I think they've done a fantastic job with that.
They moved the tea up on six today.
I thought that was a good hole.
The pins have been great.
There's been a lot of variety there.
I think tomorrow they'll, they'll,
they'll amp it up with the pins on the par-fives on,
either tomorrow or Sunday on 17.
Like it's there's so many options. These greens, there's so much going on. There's so much variety.
Like it's it's kind of hard to mess it up. Sure. And I think their their argument would be the only
way to mess it up is to make it too extreme. But I don't think we're even relatively close to
making it to extreme.
Sorry, that was a lot, Randy.
No, I mean, Mara Kawa had his C game today in Chattas 66. I mean, like, what are we doing?
I want guys, from Thursday morning, ball in the air, I want it to be a grueling test.
And we've, the USG gave the decision, maybe, maybe we'll get up 27 grueling test and we've, the USG gave the decision, maybe, maybe we'll get 27 grueling
holes.
Maybe Sunday will be difficult, but you can, I mean, Thursday and Friday, the US Open
is not what it used to be.
And so, solid, your point when you're saying unrealistic, I think maybe it's unrealistic
in today's climate, but it certainly wasn't 20, 30 years ago.
I mean, this is what the US Open was,
and they've been back down and they've gone away from it.
Can you rattle off some years
that are that are pro, that your favorite years,
some of the best years?
God, Shinacok no four.
Well, we'll always stand the test of time for me.
Oakmont, one on Hell One is a favorite for me.
Randy, let me ask you this.
Hold on, hold on.
Second round, leader, 2004.
Shageki Mariam and Phil Mickelson minus six,
Jeff Magert minus five, Fred Funk,
Ritef Goose and minus four,
Ann Helke Beret, Ernie L's minus three,
Cory Pave and VJ saying minus two.
That was a halfway point.
That might be a select memory,
because Saturday was the same.
I asked him to pick a specific year,
and that's what he went, that's where we got.
I named those guys again.
I don't, not many little boys in there.
Shigecki, Mariamma, Fred Jeff Baggard.
That guy, oh, that guy was the last one.
Fred Funk is a little boy.
Fred Funk is a little boy.
Randy, that's damning Intel, I'm sorry.
That's so, oh no, you don't have 23 of them.
And what was the cut that year?
Come on, tell the full story. I'd have to look that, listen, you don't have 23 of them. And what was the cut that year? Come on, tell the full story.
I'd have to look that, listen, I'd have to look that up.
You're putting me on the spot here,
but it looks like it was plus five.
All right.
Two shots higher than this one.
All right.
And that's the best one in the ball.
The game has changed a lot since then.
So I can't, I can't we just make pros uncomfortable
for four days.
That's all I wanted.
Randy, it was, you would have,
you would have been pissed last night
when SVP was on talking about how much of a disgrace
O4 was, O4 at Shinaka.
I was like respectfully and disagree, that was sick.
Yeah, it's so sick.
And I will say, I have not forgotten
about that wing foot superintendent from a couple of years ago.
That he still has a job and he's going you know, going about his day to day life.
He should be ashamed of himself.
He needs a quit and he needs to reconsider some things.
And I do want for the listeners sake
to also be stating to the record,
you guys were unhappy with that setup
and there was one guy that broke par on that setup.
So I just, I just want.
I just thought that setup was boring.
I'm just reading into the record.
I just thought the course was boring.
Yeah, that was, it was.
This is more interesting.
This is, I'm so super pleased.
This is my favorite venue I'm so super pleased.
This is my favorite venue since Oakmont in what was that 2016?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, this is unbelievable.
I had, I've had an awesome week so far and I'm excited to watch this weekend, aside from
NBC, absolutely taking a job on it.
It's, it's been a tough scene.
We're going to say, of course, that for hamster, damn, but T.C., you were out there.
I think we were kind of all mulling. We're sitting around here saying,
like, it hasn't really felt like a major when Rory rolled the putty on 12 today. That felt like,
you know, they had the replays and the roar and like it, that sounded like somebody making a run
in a major. I got it, man. I don't really remember if it's supposed to feel that way on a Friday,
but I just have felt like it just felt very normal to this point and I don't like it.
Yeah, I think it's probably a combination of things.
There's less tickets up for grabs just because of logistical challenges that the course,
there's just not as much spectating areas as you would normally have at some of these
other courses.
I think that, you know, the dual waves, like they're pretty well balanced.
There's no center of gravity.
Some of the coolest holes are out on the front
and you know, a lot of the buildouts are on the back,
like 15 and 16.
I think NBC has a lot to do with it.
They're just like, they haven't gotten their audio levels,
right?
I haven't watched a whole lot of it.
The stuff that I've watched, you know,
jumping between the cock and USA and NBC.
We'll do that later. But the stuff that I have watched jumping between the cock and USA and NBC. We'll do that later.
But the stuff that I have watched,
there's been a distinct lack of just audio that's been captured.
I think some of that's due to wind as well.
It's tough to capture.
There were plenty of roars out there yesterday afternoon.
Try not to think.
Also, if people are just expecting
a bunch of really, really obnoxious,
like almost New York style fans, they kind of lump everybody in, in the Northeast to,
you know, like, oh, there are a bunch of, you know, fans just like at Beth Page.
Or, and it's not that, like, and maybe that's because the tickets are super expensive,
and it's a bunch of private club golfers out there.
But like, it's a very tough expensive ticket to get this week.
But the golf fans that were out there are like on balance, very,
very knowledgeable.
It kind of reminded me of like open championship fans or, you know,
St. Louis Cardinals fans, great, you know, moving the runner over the best fans in
baseball. Right, Randy?
No, but like there was, there was a certain,
I just had to throw out some, some chum there.
I saw you tweet when you're,
when you're complimenting them for, for applauding,
like, tasteful layups and position leaves.
Like, no, there's a certain, there's a certain,
you know, intellect there, I think with,
with the level of golf fans out there.
And I think, but I think the comp is 99 at Brookline, which was famous for the heckling
and the jeers and the intense, intense atmosphere.
I went back and looked at some of those highlights.
And I think a takeaway I have from this is the access to the fans is not what it was for
that Ryder Cup.
Like they're right on the, they were 17.
There were fans left of that fairway when Justin Leonard made that putt and everybody went crazy.
Like it was just way more intimate there
and that was a takeaway I had from being on site
is like man there's not like bowls
or stadium seating very, you know,
just not a golf course that's really designed
for you know that many people to go see
but it's not intimate in tight.
There's like couple spots where guys gotta walk through crowds
and like it gets the energy going.
Like that little corner on 15 into 16t and then down to 17 and then you know kind of up by
like two green
three teeth four green all that stuff like there's some stuff over there. I think part of it too is there's there's not a whole lot of
Like they're all set back like you said and then also like it's it's kind of a whole lot of, like they're all set back, like you said.
And then also, it's kind of tough to get there, right?
Like they're doing a great job
with the shuttles and everything.
A bunch of people are taking the tee,
but like, I will get on them for like,
probably leaving early today.
Like there wasn't a whole lot of people
out there at 6.37 o'clock tonight, which-
It's also split on two sides and it's just tough.
Yeah, but, you know, and I feel like,
you know, everybody was like, was up till midnight last night watching the Celtics game. Yeah.
They all might be a little sleepy on the Fernandez too. You know, just out there and stands,
you know, Randy, I know you're drinking one right now, aren't you? Oh my gosh. I was writing
down the recipe as they were as they were talking about it. Love, love to know what the aristocracy is drinking.
Well, what a better person to tell us than Jimmy Roberts.
Exactly.
I love my job.
Thanks, Jimmy.
That was interesting.
In between extensive, extensive commercial breaks.
It's like, nope, nope, this is not in the budget.
Can't do it.
Can't do both these things.
You can't jam that many commercials down our throat
and then also tell it to you.
I didn't watch the speech here,
but the Fernando's only been around since like the mid 90s,
right?
I'm like, I took over for another part
then around summer break and he never gave up the job, you know?
He got Walli Pipp.
Yeah, he did.
Yeah, he did.
All right, hold on, I don't wanna,
let's talk about the leaderboard.
Yeah, I want, what was the take away for you?
Of like, what was good?
I mean, right, like, I don't want to be let's not be day.
I think it's been a good time.
It was a little it was a little sleepy in the afternoon.
I think a lot of that has to do with coverage, which listen, we'll get to.
But what was it?
What was a positive takeaway for you, Sally?
Dude, the cream rose today.
I mean, see in Scotty, Shephler, get out there and shoot 67 today.
John Rom shot 67 today.
More a cava.
I think he's kind of like put on a, you know, a little bit of an act that is. and shoot 67 today, John Rom shot 67 today, Morakawa.
I think he's kind of like,
put on a, you know, a little bit of an act that is,
he's got a C game Randy,
at the numbers, don't check that out.
Like it just, every time I look up,
it seems like he's got 15 feet for birdie
and it just looks like a vintage
Colin Morakawa major championship performance, which.
Randy's piss, he's sitting in a draw.
He's upset with this, your guy too, Randy.
Why, why are you sliding your guy like that?
No, I'm not.
I'm just relaying what he's telling us.
You know, y'all are lucky.
He's only got a C game.
He'd probably have 15 under.
Yeah.
If he had his A game, he could hit a fade.
Can't, he can't hit a fade with his iron.
So it's probably easy.
It, I don't know.
It just looks like we're destined for, for, I, there's a,
I'm with you, Ray. There's some names on this leaderboard that I do not expect to be around for very much
longer as badly as I wish David Lindmer if it was going to be around longer. When he got
to minus five almost got to minus six with a whole lot on number 10. I think Lindmer's
actually one of the ones that that I would anticipate sticking around a little bit more
as major as us open record as we went over last night is very, very good. I think he will think he'll finish on the top 25. I'm hoping for a top 10 there for him.
But don't don't interrupt you, but I do want to get to Mr. McDermott's question. Will TC apologize
for Fleetwood. Yes, he will later in the show get to that. We'll get to that. Thank you for asking.
So I don't know. Rory, we're going to talk Rory. We're going to have a guest in shortly that was
out there following him for I assume the majority of the day today that we can talk to him about. I don't know. It's a big boy golf course. It is. And I 36
whole leaderboards, your eyeballs are going towards the guys that, as we talked about last
night, that are going to survive the leaderboard gravity. And they're there. I mean, you know,
spieth kind of spit the bit, you know, it's just, I know it's unfortunate,
but there's really not that many names
that we expected to be up there that aren't.
And so that has me excited going into this weekend.
I think we can always talk ourselves into the first couple days.
We get really hype for it.
And like, you got to get through the field.
Like, you got to get through the first couple days.
And it's a lot of coverage.
And it's a lot of golf.
And it can feel boring at times.
When it gets out and run into tomorrow, it's going to feel like a major championship.
So what did you like?
I felt like Rory was on the golf course for twice as long as everyone else today.
I was such a good taste.
I was in it.
I mean, I don't want to use a...
I followed Rory for 45 holes today.
I felt that way, truly. And I felt like the best analogy that I can make
for watching his full round was it felt like taking
edibles a little bit.
And when they hit on three, when he was like,
any made double, it was like, oh dude,
nah, man, I don't wanna do this.
And now I'm gonna be in it for like six to eight hours.
And I'm just not feeling it.
And then it just got a little better
and a little better and a little better.
And then by the end of it was like, man, that was actually,
that was okay, you know, I made it, nothing bad happened,
you know, I didn't freak out.
Like it was, it was, it was,
I had plenty of food nearby.
Yeah, exactly, no.
I almost lost my mind on the third hole
and then I didn't and it was great.
But I felt it in like the pit in my stomach
when he, you know, left two of those in the heather.
I was like, oh my God, no man, don't do that.
And he battled.
I saw something from him, Randy.
I saw something from him today and I loved it.
It made me feel something and that was about
the only player out there that made me feel something.
Because Morakawa and Ram, they played awesome.
They hit awesome golf shots.
I like both of them, but I didn't, I'm not, I'm, you know, I'm invested in this, this
Rory stuff.
So that felt really fun to watch.
I feel like if I could pick you off that, like when you watch more, Kalon, Rom, you're
just kind of, you're in all of the talent.
You're in all of some of the shots they pull off, but it doesn't make you feel something
emotionally and for whatever reason, Rory is a different, a different, and I think that's,
like, just context now of like, it's been what, seven, eight, nine years since he's been, you know, to the mountain with a major.
So it makes you feel like, man, I really want to see you.
Well, it's context on the good stuff, but it's also knowing that like there's so much variance
in his swing where at any point, like he can make that bad swing, like he made on, on
what was it three to the right? Yeah.
Gritty putt to make the double bogey man.
Like that, that could have been quad very easily.
It was a really good third attempt out of the head.
I got Mitch Cumstine saying,
Rory is pineapple express.
I think that's a very, very good.
Mitch is killing it.
That's the second or third.
That's a great day.
I just, I felt like I was like,
oh my God, Rory, you're gonna do this now.
And then he makes that putt and it's like, hell yeah, man.
And he's just, I feel like he's fighting demons
that I can relate to, whereas some of these other guys are,
like, oh, more of a call, I can't,
I just can't hit a fade right now.
You know, it's like, oh, that's cool man.
I'm sorry, you can't hit the ball flight on demand, you know?
Like, I feel like Roy's dealing with some other stuff.
Like, he can't hit a wedge.
You know, he can't not airmail a wedge.
And he's, right now, he's not airmailing wedges.
It's all so hard. I don't wanna, like I said this last night, I'll say it again, I can't not air mail a wedge and he's right now, he's not air mail on wedges. It's all right.
I don't want to, like, I said this last night, I'll say it again.
I don't want to overstate like Warikaw was fade goes like two yards left to right.
His draw goes like two yards right to the left, which is hitting a straight ball, which
as Azinger said, that's like six feet.
Um, I want to get, I want to get to Randy here on Rory for just a singer might it be
at Wills.
Hell yeah. A quick check in. but of course we got to give shout
out to our friends at Roeback.
As you can see us, rapin' strong here in the killhouse.
We've wearing their gear for a while now out at Brookline this week,
Saul Roeback everywhere.
You know what I also like is I think I've ever seen
cooking with Darrell on Instagram, his stuff pop up.
He's always wearing Roeback.
He never I don't know if he's sponsored by them or not.
He's never tagging them, but he would be right up your alley.
I'm vibing with cooking with Darrell.
Cooking with Darrell.
Yes, okay.
The washed media guys, they're a huge, huge rowback house.
I want to give a shout out to my guy, David Ruff, who was dealing with some tough stuff
on American this way.
He was texting me saying.
Thank you for using the rowback edspace for that one, T.C.
So they got performance follows.
You've heard a lot about the iterations of the collar alone.
They've gone to it and make sure it doesn't get in the way of your golf swing.
They've got the performance Q-zips.
They are game changer.
Niels rocking it right now.
You can wear them on the golf course.
They're great off the golf course.
And last, so you know what my favorite is, the performance hoodie, softest, stretchiest.
And you know, I told you this last night what I love about it.
You can wear them multiple times without needing to wash them.
The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is find a rowback hoodie and throw
it on.
They're gaining traction big time.
You can use code NLU at rowback.com for a generous 20% off your first order.
That's r-h-o-b-a-c-k dot com, 20% off polo's QZips hoodies and T's with code NLU.
Figure out your size because we're about to flex on y'all with the, uh,
you know, fall collection as far as the sweater, the sweatshirts go. I had my
purchase it on last Sunday, played golf with, with Neil at Pilgrim's run up in Grand Rapids and then
pulled it on the flight after that. And guy's thinking my row commented
and asked me what it was.
I happily told him it was rowback.
I may have given him the NLU code too.
So I utilize that.
Influencer.
Influencer, Randy.
What do you feel when you watch, Randy?
Watch, watch, Rory these days, Randy.
I mean, I think it's a great storyline.
I'm glad he's involved.
It's a lot more interesting and exciting.
We're a long way from the finish.
It's going to make Saturday, Sunday extremely compelling.
I think, you know, I went on good friend of the show,
Bob Sturms, Radio Show on Wednesday. And I said, you know, the one
thing that Rory might be taking advantage of here and might be working in his favor is
with all this live stuff. And, you know, he's obviously become one of the mouthpieces for the
tour. He might have, you know, a little chip on his shoulder. It might be, he might be a little pissed off,
which I think is genuinely good.
I know he's tried to convince himself of that
through the years, rededicate himself to golf.
But I think for the first time,
he can legitimately have some frustration and some anger
to channel towards his game.
And whether that actually makes a difference or not,
I don't know, but it's certainly different
than all the other majors recently.
So I think that's interesting.
But yeah, I think watching him, you know,
it's exciting because you never quite know
if he's gonna make spectacular birdie or a terrible double.
It's, that's good for golf. I just uh you know we find ourselves in a similar spot
to what we did at Southern Hills. Let's see let's do what the weekend brings.
We might need to roll back or talk about a bunch of Rory with our guests. We will. We need
when we roll back to shore up Randy's internet stream,
a little bit better for us.
But I do think it had a chance to be,
today had the chance to be the Rory stinker round.
And that's what it felt like when he was hitting five.
I guess it's like 73 or more.
When he was hitting five out of the ruffle number three.
But yeah, well, our guest should be,
could should be calling here in here in about three minutes here.
But because I'm on a Joel Damon,
is time for the lead in the US Open at for 36 holes. Actually, I'm
gonna send him a text right now. I'm gonna see if he's gonna join the show because he
was supposed to join us last night and he might actually even do it. Yeah, he might
actually do it. He was vibing with Ben Rector last night. He's got, he woke up feeling
feeling the good vibes only. I was supposed to go to the concert too, but I
started to hang out with you bloke's last night. Thank you, man.
Instead of the US Open leader.
Yeah, Joel, I mean, God, that, that,
that, that shot into 18 was unbelievable.
Just absolutely flashing.
Yeah.
It was like, probably could have gotten one or two more
at the end there.
So I thought 17 was really cool today.
It was kind of that, that easy pin right down in the funnel. It was a little bit of a funnel pin cool today. It was kind of that easy pin right down in the funnel.
It was a little bit of a funnel pin, Randy.
It was.
But I got to think Joel is booed by what he saw in Fort Worth.
Your high score on the pop-a-shot.
He was all he was talking about when I saw him
in the practice round on Tuesday.
But I am so thrilled to watch, like Colin Moore Cowa is kind of, and, and, and, and,
and Ram and the dudes that are up there at T3 are like golfing,
like, gods of some kind, like, they're just, they're, like,
sorcerers when it comes to moving a golf ball.
And Joel Damon's just not, his body type is not, like,
Colin Morcoa is, hair is not like Colin Morcoa is personality.
He's not like Colin Morcoa. It hair is not like Colin Morakawa. His personality is not like Colin Morakawa.
It's just gonna be a fascinating final pairing tomorrow.
They're just polar opposites.
They're on different career trajectories.
Joel really downplays how good of a player he is,
and almost every stop.
I don't know if that's a coping mechanism of some kind for him,
but gosh, it's fun to see him
in the mix of a major championship.
Cause I saw him hit a couple of yesterday and like he's hitting it really good
Really good Randy he's kind of the like for everything you say about more kawa being quote unquote empty vessel
He's kind of the opposite
T.C. We have not declared that officially okay. You're just it's it's it's on watch on notice for that
He could be the man cherry and golfer, but we don't know yet
Does anyone want to adjust any of their picks?
You're picked for the winner at this point of the tournament.
That's tough to say, man.
Because you've picked like eight guys or what?
Oh my god, T times are so weird.
Do you? I mean, Zalatoris, you still feel good about that?
I would change it if I could. I mean, I don't, he's not out of it at T 16,
so I'm not gonna change it. But I. I mean, I don't, he's not out of it. That's he's 16, so I'm not gonna change it.
But I think I said in the preview show.
I know I said in the preview show.
If it was not about the odds,
who do I think is gonna win the US Open?
I said Scotty Shaffler.
Sure.
And it felt like it was a little quiet on him coming in.
The, you know, the beat kind of forgot about
what he'd been through.
That golf course just seemed like I said the newsletters.
Well, that was my pick.
It seemed like this golf course should fit him very well.
Love where he's sitting at T8 at 300 and only two back.
The newsletter is the official record.
So, you know, there's that.
T.C. said Fleetwood.
Would you like to change that pick?
Yeah, I'm not sure if, you know,
I'm not sure if I need to change that.
It's still awesome hope.
Okay, all right.
Cool.
Cool, cool, cool.
Yeah, I'm riding with Rory.
I'm in it.
Randy, I'm in it.
I'm on the roller coaster.
You got to suck you in.
Man, I think I sucked others in.
I've been DJ and I, neighbors on Rory have, man.
I tweeted out that I'm throwing a block party tomorrow.
You're invited.
Oh, you know, all you guys can come.
We're gonna have some cold beers.
We'll have the cooler out there.
You know, get the slip and slide out.
We got the real big cooler out.
Yeah, yeah, we got one of the big
100 coolers downstairs.
We can fill that thing up with ice
and have just a block party on Rory Ave.
How's that sound?
Why RT type so late tomorrow?
It's, well, I mean, I think,
A, the sun doesn't go down to super late.
I mean, it's something like crazy far north.
I mean, 3.45 for the leaders.
That's incredible.
Can actually like have a day before the round of golf tomorrow.
Oh my god. Oh my god, the beach. That's fantastic. Randy actually like have a day before the round of golf tomorrow.
Oh my god, oh my god, the beach.
That's fantastic.
Randy, you wanna come to the block party?
Uh, yeah, I'll come.
You're not gonna like try to
preach to me, are you?
No, no, no, not at all.
Just have a couple beers.
Is it chill hanging out?
Yeah, for sure.
Well, I think I might have some literature.
You can look at it if you want,
but you don't have to read it.
We do have a guess that I think is in the green room
that I think is ready to be called in
that I think we can all take a guess as to who he was out
following today.
So if you don't mind Cody, go ahead
and we'll make the call to the bullpen.
There he is.
Kyle Porter, welcome in.
What's happening?
How's your day?
I was with Hayden Buckley. I'll go ahead and see if you guys have any questions about Hayden Buckley. We can talk about that.
Porter. Other than the guys in Roy's group, have you seen anybody hit a single shot this week besides Roy?
I haven't even seen Hadecki and Xander hit any shot.
You just had buried right back in your phone
as soon as Roy hits his shot?
For sure.
What kind of a sense?
How much did you walk with that group today?
What kind of a sense and vibe were you getting from our guy today?
Yeah, I walked the last 12 holes.
I picked them up on eight.
I think Roy made a birdie there.
And he seems, I don't know how much he has probably talked
about it a ton, but he seems kind of like wound up,
I think I heard Neil talking about this on Thursday,
like he seems just really kind of jacked up more so
than we've seen at recent majors.
I mean, that's kind of been our criticism, right?
It's like, he seems a little sleepwalky
at time through some of these major championships
and he just seems super, super intense.
I actually talked to him afterwards for a minute
and I said, because he always talks about,
playing with like chasing this 25 year old self, right?
Like the freedom that he had at 25.
And I said, man, can you even play with freedom
at a US open?
Is that even possible?
And he said, I feel like I can for the first time
in a long time.
And he got up in my face and was like really intense
about the way he said it.
And it made me feel like he was going to win
by like seven strokes on Sunday.
That's probably not going to happen.
But he just, I think he has so much confidence in his game right now
that it made me confident that he actually could
go out and went on Sunday.
Poor people are, people are, are, are,
are getting shifty in the comments.
Somebody called you a PGA Tour Superstore cashier,
another person called you a Peloton instructor.
The way you're leaning in.
Maybe, maybe Rory thought you were gonna
tell a ton of structure. The PGA Tour Super thought you were going to tell it's on his structure.
The PGA Tour Superstore cashier, he's just leaning over the counter.
And I'm like, nah, tell you what, man, that's Rory by seven tomorrow.
Tell me, tell me, tell me I'm wrong.
What do I got to do to get you in one of these row guesties?
But what was your state of emotion when Rory was lying for still in the Heather right
of the third greed.
Well, he kept staring at it.
I thought he was going to take it
unplayable. I thought, and then he
makes the 30 footer for for six.
And, you know, he talked afterwards
about how like you don't want to be
making 30 footers for six.
But yeah, I thought I thought the
dream was dead at that point.
But I thought he, I mean, he's,
he's kind of fought well.
I've been impressed with, he hasn't,
he's had opportunities to kick it away.
And maybe that'll come on Saturday
when it gets fast and firm, but he hasn't yet.
I feel like that's commendable.
Now that putt, dreams die when you don't make a mega six.
But when you make that putt, the dream was still alive.
That was such a big moment when he sunk that 30 footer.
It was an epic putt.
It was not going well there.
I couldn't believe that happened on the third hole.
Rainier, are you still, do you have the belief?
Yeah, I was just telling these guys,
I'm throwing a block party on Rory Ab tomorrow.
You're welcome to show.
I got money on him.
I got money on him.
I got nuggies on him.
Yeah. But you don't believe. I mean, you're just trying, you're the to show. Stop by. I got money on I got nuggies on him. Yeah, but you don't believe.
I mean, you're just trying.
You're trying.
You're the Airbnb guy in the neighborhood.
You're renting the house out to somebody else.
It's an investment for you.
I live there dog.
I fucking live there.
I bought it.
And you're bringing in all these short term rentals.
It's bullshit.
You get priced out of the
we got a three or four night minimum stay at least man.
What big Randy's been bimoning the setup here. You've been out there. Is it
is it a proper US open in your mind? It's been. What do you, Randy? What do you want, bro?
What do you want? I just want some difficulty. That's all I want. I don't want 23 guys under par.
I don't want the lowest cut in the history of the US open. It does remind me a little bit of,
and I know some of you guys didn't like Wingfoot in 2020,
but where each day gets more and more and more difficult,
like they just, it seems like they have it
under such control.
And we were talking to, we were on 11, the Part III,
and we were talking to Mike Wahn, he was out there.
Mike Wahn is very shatty, by the way. Oh yeah. He was talking about how a leaven is going to play.
Like he said, wait till you see this whole tomorrow. And I asked him, is it going to be
really short? Because I think it's a whole you can play at 95 yards, 90 yards. What I don't know
what the shortest distance is. But he said it's going to look a lot different. So it'll be, I think they'll do some interesting stuff
with the course on Saturday,
and it just feels like they've got, I don't know.
I'm with you Randy, and that I like seeing difficulty
and carnage and all that stuff,
but it feels like they have it completely under control
to where they can turn it up, bring the scores back.
And I think in doing that and making it more difficult, you're going to see guys like
Shephler and Rahm and all those guys rise to the top even more, which is, you know,
what everybody wants to see anyway.
I guess I don't, I just don't understand why they feel the need to get it progressively
harder.
Like, what would, what would be the harm in starting it out as like a really difficult test on Thursday?
And then like giving the guys a breather on Saturday a little bit and like doing some fun pans and stuff.
I mean, or not.
I just think it's easier.
It's easier to do it like, I don't know.
I don't know that you can go backwards like that.
Can you can you let it go and then bring it back?
These guys are agronomists also on top of being
a video takes.
I'm talking about agronomists today
who are also frustrated with it, I think.
But I do agree with you.
I think there's some really, really fun shit
they can do out there tomorrow.
We're like, you know, I'm not sure if it's tomorrow
or Sunday where that kind of front right-ish pin on 17 is going to be fantastic.
I think they're just like making 11 as short as that hole in the walker cup 15 at LACC,
where it's like 92 yards and straight down the hill and they put back left pin or something
there.
It'd be sick.
I think that what I do like about Brookline is whoever,
if somebody gets out to a big lead,
it is not a cruise to the finish no matter what.
That is out there.
Like we saw so many guys get up to six,
even a couple guys got up to six under today
and just almost immediately fell back.
Like it's not, I think that would create a really boring
US open as if somebody got up there and hid.
What's comment is killing me,
the comment that's up right now.
Says Lane Sharers.
Randy can't keep a play alive.
But knows how to push a golf course to the
yet.
For the record, Randy, Randy killed his bonsai.
Yeah.
How's your bonsai class going, Randy?
Well, it was great.
The bonsai died.
And I would say I would
push it to the edge.
I would put forward that caring for a bonsai is a lot more difficult than setting up a US Open Golf course, but that's just me
Non-roar division who's your pick to win?
Non-roarie I
think
Again, there's nobody else really contending other than Rory in my in my book, but um
I think rom is the most trustworthy of the guys at the top. He's the guy that I trust the most.
Just no holes in the game.
I think it would be cool if ROM won at Tori and then
it a place like Brequine because they're so different.
And I think they, because I don't know,
he's just, I think we've talked about this a lot,
but like he's the guy at the top of the world rankings,
the show, he doesn't have any holes.
Like he's got an unbelievable short game.
He's the best driver in the world right now.
To me, it comes down to Kenny controls Irons
a little bit on Saturday, Sunday, and go out and win it.
So I think Ram is probably the guy that I trust the most.
We got him, sorry, K.P. I respect that opinion, but I got to I got to hold you
there for a second. Ladies and gentlemen, the termity tied for the lead. Welcome.
Good morning, Damon.
And you're
a big Washington. What's up? Not much.
I'm trying to get our car, but someone took our car
apparently at LA.
So Netflix is filming at my wife.
We did not sign a release for this.
We did not release this content to be used on Netflix.
My wife is saying hello as well.
Hello.
Welcome to the show.
Yeah. Joel, how to the show. Yeah
Joel, how was the concert last night? It was good.
I'm not like it's good. It's like let's do it every day
But I like listening to anything live music wise. So it was good. It was nice quaint smaller venue and the music and music was good and
I like it's live TV. We got some audio difficulties,
but I'm just gonna say,
have you had a holy shit?
I'm tied for the leader.
I'm in the lead of the US Open moment yet.
Yeah, like doing the media circuit afterwards.
Like five or six different stops and takes like a half an hour.
And yeah, all the questions.
You try to like, you kind of answer them all the same.
Yeah, holy shit moment a little bit for sure.
I'm like, what?
So I was like, I know I'm here and we're, uh,
you're going to be playing with Colin Moore,
Cowell at tomorrow, 345.
What are you going to do the rest of the day leading up
to that?
I found that out.
Like, I have no idea.
I've never teed off that anything close to that.
So, um, go find a good brunch spot and, spot and I'll probably watch a little bit of the morning coverage
to check out kind of what the courses are pin stuff, but I don't know, maybe go to MIT
and walk around or Harvard or something.
I have no idea.
We haven't figured out it out yet.
He's like, Randy's going to take a campus walk.
I love it, Joel.
That's good stuff, man.
Clear ahead.
You should go play some recreational golf somewhere.
God's a George Wright or something go play 18 out there
Let me go play a quick nine somewhere else in the morning
That's great. That would be a fantastic story leading into it. So drink some beers tonight. Yeah. Yeah, or will you drink any beers tonight?
We're loaded up right now, but I was waiting to go to my final destination
But the fact we actually do not have a car. Someone took our vehicle
from the valet or they gave it to the wrong person. I'm not sure how that's working right now.
I don't know how that happened, but we are going to let you go buddy. Thanks for, thanks for
piping in. That's a luck. We are rooting for you, man. Can't wait to watch tomorrow. Good luck,
Joel. Listen, where there's some audio difficulties there, yes, but that's going to happen. Okay,
that was a, that that that's, that was a hail Mary. I texted Hail Mary. Can you call in and here he goes?
I'm gonna hit him with some brunch box for tomorrow. That's very good
Kyle do you have anything else before we let you go as well because I think you got frozen
All right, we're gonna retire
We're gonna retire Kyle. Thank you very much for for calling it as well and
Listen, we're trying to we're trying this live we are doing it live
We appreciate your
Your patients with us. That's good stuff. We're back to Niels Jessica quarter interview a hundred percent
This a man you learn by doing I told like a shock. There was that level of bandwidth out there like I like that's true
Like that's pretty impressive actually look at we We still got KP in the green room, just root around down there.
Yeah, I don't know what he's doing.
I thought he was running up to get
and just holds background for some reason,
but Kyle's gonna try to make it soft.
He's still there.
He's gonna run out there with a tanker truck
and just water all the green,
so Rory can have him soft and shit.
I think I do see the Netflix guys behind Kyle in the green room here, but what do you have
shout out, of course, to our friends at Pinehurst.
For 125 years, the Pinehurst resort has been the home of American golfers.
Never been a better time to be there.
Listen, if you're watching the US Open and wanting to go out and play a US Open golf course,
there's no better or easier place to go do that than Pinehurst.
They've got, of course, the number two.
It is the US Open's first anchor site. Of course, there's no better or easier place to go do that than Pinehurst. They've got of course the number two.
It is the US Open's first anchor site, five US Open scheduled there over the next two decades.
If you're going to be watching in 2024, you're going to say, damn, I wish I would have
played this golf course.
I would like to play this golf course.
You can do that.
You can book a trip right now at Pinehurst.com.
Of course, got the fresh, they redesigned Pinehurst number four.
They got number six, which is the home of the first US adaptive open.
That's just three of the nine championship courses. Then of course, they got the nine, which is the home of the first US adaptive open. That's just three of the nine championship courses.
Then of course they got the nine hole course, the cradle.
They got the brewery, the Pinehurst brewing company you can relax and you
as well at the stylish north and south bar.
It continues to evolve Pinehurst.com now to plan your visit.
They also just broke ground on the new hotel and the the USGA stuff.
So the big things happen down in Pinehurst.
Porter doesn't seem to want to leave, so I'm just going to pipe him back in to see if you
have, did you have anything else you wanted to add? We were trying to let you go, but.
Yeah, I wanted to say goodbye, but I also just walked past Joel as he was holding his phone
up and I was holding mine. And he said, oh, yeah, you were the guy that just said you trust,
you trust John Rom the most and he goes, that's funny, I do too.
Kyle, last question for you for me, what, what do you think of Rory's fit today versus yesterday?
He had some like many lobsters on his shirt, very, very new Englandy.
Yeah, I thought today was great.
I touched him about it yesterday.
And he was like, yeah, I was hoping it would be cold enough to where I didn't, I could cover up some of the floral design.
I love the lobster shirt today.
I thought it was sold.
The shoes are awesome too.
I'm shocked that you liked something that was on Rory.
I'm really surprised.
So, it sounded like yesterday was questionable.
I think I liked it.
No, I liked it. Yes, it was like like almost it was so different. I was I was into it
I think it's gonna get met gala ish here tomorrow, especially with fina
Pictures it solid. I were looking at with this block textured stuff is is alarming
Yeah, yeah, I know yeah, my mom made me a quill for graduation
Betsy Ross. Yeah, like I graduated high school. That's a great call out, K.P.
I like that. K.P. Will you go find Joel's car for him? Yes, seriously. He just drove by.
He just left. Okay. Did the Netflix guys get in the back with them? Are they going? Are they
falling around all night? Okay, I'm I got to run. Cool. Thank you.
The glorious madness tonight.
Netflix guys have been getting stuff.
They were there for all of JT at the PGA.
They've been there for the Joel and Harry shirtless run around the green.
They've been there for pretty much everything.
It's been stunning what they've gotten so far.
Question for you guys, who of these guys that,
kind of the little boys as Randy would say,
I would call him, like, you know,
I mean, Hayden Buckley came in with four Miss cuts in a row,
but he's won some big dip events.
He won the Lakeham Gulf Coast Classic last year
on the Corn Ferry Tour.
He's won the ATB financial classic out on the Canadian
tour. All that stuff. Who do you see sticking around tomorrow? Like who of these guys that's
probably minus one or minus two were better. Do you foresee us talking about on Sunday?
I don't know. Aaron Wise counts in that, but he's been playing some serious, serious golf
leading up to this. Going back all the way to like Mexico It feels like even before that I think and was I don't know if that would qualify there
He's a PGA tour winner, but big spot for him playing with Rory tomorrow. I've got three guys that are I mean
Well, they're all they're all they these aren't new guys, but I think Keegan sticks around I think Davis Riley sticks around
He's a major winner Keegan Brown and I think that Ryan Harmon sticks around
Riley sticks around. He can major when he's in a kingdom restaurant.
And I think that Ryan Harmon sticks around.
I think those three guys, I think the course fits Keegan and Harmon really well.
So I think they make noise.
I guess what I'm saying is I think they make noise.
Okay.
I don't think it's.
They don't just stick around.
Yeah, like I don't think the not only is the gravity of the leaderboard not going to pull
them down, I think they might make noise.
Solid.
I mentioned mine, Aaron Wise.
Okay.
I believe that you just want to mention Nick Hardy is that way about this up. A little bit. Yeah. Solid. I mentioned mine, Aaron Wise. Okay. I believe you just want to mention Nick Hardy, is that way about this up?
A little bit.
Yeah.
I mean, listen, people are all over me about Fleetwood.
T.C.
Fleetwood is Fleetwood.
I also picked Colin Moore at Kyle this week.
I've got Rory in my plays.
I've got Zalatoris in my plays.
Like, lay off me people.
Nick Hardy, he was the first man out as far as I was going to do a top 20 play on Nick Hardy.
Been all over him the last three, four, five weeks.
Why, why do you like Nick Hardy?
He's been absolutely flashing.
He's healthy for the first time in a year.
He's got just a quality talent.
He's an exceptional iron player.
I'm buying all the stock.
So all of those picks are great and Nick Hardy's great.
When are you going to apologize for to Fleetwood though? Yeah. Is that later? It's time. I think it's time.
We're going to push that off to later or we're going to do that now. Listen, Tommy's not
putting well. I think you got the bad end of the draw. Some of the irons I saw him hit
yesterday. I saw, I saw God. Your boy's hitting you here. T.C. is touting chalk picks.
Yeah. That's a great day. I wouldn't call Moricao a chalky. He was 30 to one. He put it to us was 30 to one.
He put 10 nuggets on Moricao at 30 to one.
Okay. Still profitable week.
You know, Randy, Randy, we'll give you the last word.
T.C. T.C. We just got to come back to Fleetwood.
Fleetwood ain't doing it. When are we going to jump off
Fleetwood back? He had a bad, he had a bad week. All right. He had a bad day when he needed it. We just got to collect a fleetwood fleet what ain't doing it when when are we gonna jump off the fleetwood bad bad bad
He had a bad week all right. Yeah a bad day when you needed it a lot of bad weeks
And you were building them up last night he couldn't make any pods. Can make any pods 75 today not good listen
The guy finished solo second at Chinatoc. Well, maybe he's just not ready right now though
You need to apologize for solo second at Chinatoc. This isn't now though. If you need to do a politics. Yeah, finish solo second in Shinnokkaki. Oh, this isn't an apology.
Thank you, Cody.
In 2018 he finished solo second at the Open Shandwich
in 2019, finished T14 at the Masters this year,
T5 at the last major of the PGA.
He just had it off week.
I told you how this apology was gonna go
before we came on.
I tried to warn you, this is not gonna happen.
There's so many other guys, like can we talk about
Hoveland?
Classic off-scape and deflect.
Listen to this, Randy. Listen to this. Can we talk about hovelin classic off who skate into flex listen to this Randy listen to this
Can we talk about hovelin?
DC's running for office. Can we talk about hovelin? No, we're talking about fucking fleetwood
But no, let's talk about hovelin. Just say fleetwood in play. Well, I'm sorry. I just I literally just said
Now we can move on now we move on
Gosh like like like hobbling guys
This is a problem
It's certainly not good. He doesn't have a sink. He doesn't have a top 10 in a major yet. It's 11th major no top 10s
I threw this out the earlier more cow has three top 10s outside of the two wins
He has Matt Wolf who listen is obviously not the same kind of player that Hovland is at this point, but has flashed two top fives in majors. It has flashed a major
championship success, and it's time for Hovland to do something. And he played his last 11
holes nine over today to, uh, completely nailed it in today. And he withdrew from the travelers
next week, or he was listed in the field and is no longer in the field. I don't know if
he's not healthy. I don't know if he's not healthy. We're not going to put any rumors. We're not going to throw any
of that out there. We're not doing that Randy. I don't even like hearing your. I don't like that at all.
But it's just where it may, he might not be healthy. Who knows? Who knows exactly what's going on? But
it's not good. He's only got one big dick event when that's the Dubai Desert classic of this year.
Otherwise, he'd be blending a playoff. Otherwise, it even eat blanding a playoff.
Otherwise, he's got three PGA tour wins.
Which we know that makes the qualifies it as a big dick win.
Two of which are mya Kova and one's the Puerto Rico open.
I'm just asking for a little bit more.
Can't lay, he is who we thought he was.
Yeah, we went over this last night though.
Complete A.
I just wanna drill the whole hole for more.
Well, you wanted to deflect, I get it.
But can't lay, nobody picked him this week.
So nobody has to apologize for anything.
He plays, we, we establishes at the PGA.
He plays well on, on, in a birdie fest and in, you know,
the kind of fake juice FedEx cup like go make a million birdies.
And he's, you know, I think major champion chips
you have want to grind.
And that's, that's where we're at right now.
If I can shout us out from the from the preview, who are we who were we down on a one player in particular?
Cam Smith.
Cam Smith.
Yes.
Stinky.
We were.
We kind of called out Randy was on that with us where it's like, man, I, you know, one of the
best chippers and putters that should fit him well.
He feels like a dog, but he's just you said it best.
I'll he just like overly aggressive right now,
and this is not the place where you can probably,
just pin your ears back and go for it.
I might be kind of tired too.
Maybe, maybe, I love Cam,
I'm not trying to dog him,
but I think staying away from,
I almost talked myself into Cam this week,
and I'm glad I stayed away.
He wanted Capulua, that's like,
Capulua push That's right. Capulua push.
You're listening.
He won at Capulua and then he won here at the players.
And then you know, grinded at the masters,
grinded like crazy.
Didn't putt well at Southern Hills.
I'm not worried about Cam whatsoever.
I think all the long grass around the greens
kind of neutered a little bit of his advantage over the field.
Okay, let me ask you guys this. And I'll start with you. Who are you the most disappointed in today from either?
I guess, you know, mainly missing the cut, but you can take that wherever you want.
I think...
Listen, the Miss Cut guys probably equally disappointed.
I really thought Billy Horschl might have a week.
I was excited to watch him play after his strong showing.
I was hopeful.
He was on a hot streak.
I think I'm disappointed in speed for not really making a move today when it seemed like
it was out there for them a little bit
Before we get to the rest of those we do have what I believe to be our final guest of the night waiting in the green room here
She is on site. She's gonna be go ahead and pipe her in here Cody
We have step in Stephanie Abstein
Epstein
Excuse me here senior writer for sports illustrated
Stephanie, how are you? Thanks for joining the show
senior writer for sports illustrated. Stephanie, how are you?
Thanks for joining the show.
Yeah, I just got home, so I'm actually gonna go inside
and hopefully you'll be able to hear me
a little bit better, sorry about that.
All right, we're gonna put you in the green room
until you get on a connection here,
but to answer your question, who am I most disappointed in?
Yeah, real quick, I think Stephanie might
have stolen Joel Damon's car.
Yeah.
We're trying to do it live. Randy also speaks sick.
Okay, I just want you to pull up that out.
It's true.
He's injured.
He's sick.
He's a mean system is injured.
Okay.
He's got a bad tum tum.
His constitution's not good.
I had high hopes for our guy, Max.
He waited 73 today.
He's not done.
He's setting it to over.
He couldn't make it to me. He could make it to me. He's gonna make me pots. He couldn't make me pots.
He struggled on the greens.
Just felt it really did feel like this was gonna be
a good golf course for him.
And it is, it is.
It just that was that was the one that the only guy
that I've been like kind of pulling for that I saw
going going down the leaderboard today.
The rest man, it's just like everyone kind of showed up.
I was disappointed in Matt.
Shane Lowry.
I kind of had some, I thought this place would be a good fit for him.
He made some noise early on Thursday and then he's just been, you know, MIA since.
So that was, that was kind of tough one for me.
I'm a little bit surprised, didn't, didn't show up well.
Corey Connors and Sungjae.
He's kind of, yeah, approach fiends.
Shane Lowry as well.
That one was, did, did Cammy Young make the cut? He didn't. He missed by the end.
God, that was an unbelievable finish from.
So I was going to say, you know, at this point,
he missed a cut, but what a, you know,
five under on the back nine. That's good stuff.
He went quad, bogey, birdie, ace, birdie, birdie,
par to finish.
Yeah.
He needed one more.
The NPC was trying to get that cut line move to plus four, even though there was no hope of ever that ever
happening, but it didn't end up nothing. Nothing pisses you off more than one.
One of the networks gets the cut line wrong. Well, they don't even really try.
Like, they can do a simple good. It's on the homepage of data golf.com.
They give you a model that tells you exactly what the cut's going to be, what the
probability is that it's going to move. It's sitting at 99% that's going to be plus three and they're trying to probability is that it's gonna move. It's sitting at 99% that's gonna be plus three
and they're trying to tell us that it's like
they're gonna post for it.
It's not accurate.
We'll just have to wait and see, Randy.
I just wanna point out to Big Tell and miss the cut.
He did, he did.
It's awesome.
So then we might not see the megaloste of tomorrow.
I need to think about that.
That's actually a good break for him.
Yeah.
He could use a weekend off to think about some of the decisions
that he's allowed to let happen. But what is pod power fade asks what the worst case winner is?
Quick answer there and then we're going to try to bring Stephanie back in.
Quick answer. Aaron Wise. I think maybe Bo Haasler for me. Yeah.
Well, Haasler took it. I was going to say Bo Haasler too. He's like a golden retriever.
That's your golden retriever. Randy, You love that guy. No, I think
Aaron wise would be sick. I actually like Aaron wise the putting stuff is really sick. He's got it figured
I know but the fact that it was there. Hustler did some egregious shit there at the end
He was taking like three minutes to hit it two and a half foot like dead straight putt
That was a bad that was very bad look there on his 17th hole.
All right, to help us with some of these,
I don't wanna call them no names,
but I believe Randy told us you were working on a story
on some of the no name guys going on here.
Stephanie, welcome back in.
It looks like your own Wi-Fi here.
Thank you for joining us.
I am sorry about that.
I thought it was gonna work and I was wrong.
This is better.
Can you hear me?
We hear you loud, not you. What have you learned about some of the people at the top of
the leader board that maybe we're not as familiar with? I guess I knew this already, but it's
been a good reminder that golf is really hard. A lot of these people are obviously among
the best in the world that are certain, they're better than most of the rest of us,
but man, it is really hard to play this game at this level all the time. I mean, some of these
guys are leading right now, we're doing, you know, most of them actually had to qualify. I think
at the time that my story went up, it was like 15 out of the top 20, all had to go through
qualifiers. Most of them had to go through playoffs. These are like four, you know, at the course till nine night before four a.m. wake up. Some
of them, you know, didn't get their clubs until the beginning of this week. It's they've
they've definitely overcome a lot to be here and to be succeeding. And it's it's kind
of cool to see. It's it's kind of what the US Open is supposed to be, right? It's it's
an open tournament. It's supposed to be if you can qualify you can do it and they the US Open
guys like to say that just by being here you you've made the cut and it looks like
at least this time that's true. Stephanie which of those names and as you
learned about their story and how they even got to Brookline to play which of
those guys most surprises you
or maybe who was the most unlikely person in your opinion
to kind of be near the top of the leaderboard?
I mean, I feel like maybe it's too obvious an answer,
but Duffy has been sort of the most fun, I think.
He wasn't even gonna come because he was focused
on winning enough corn fairy events to get his
tour card and he didn't want to skip a week. And so if he had not gotten his card a couple
weeks ago, he wasn't even gonna try to qualify. So it was sort of a last minute decision. I
like Joel Damon has sort of a similar thing. He wasn't gonna do it at all. And then like he was
you know I'd drink or whatever the the night before he fought because he was like, if I cut, you know, Brendan Quinn had a good spare
about this in the athletic. He was like, if I come, I'm just going to get my ass kicked. So what's the point? That doesn't sound fun.
But he finally decided, okay, I guess it's worth, I guess it's worth showing up, played the qualifier, played well enough to get here.
And it's, it's wild, you know, if you can get here, you really, you can make a run.
and it's wild, you know, if you can get here, you really can make a run.
Tron asked us, I think it was Tron,
just a little bit ago before you joined,
who among kind of these lesser names or, you know,
quote unquote, no names,
do we think has staying power?
Is it gonna stick around this weekend?
So to put you on the spot, who's your pick
from what you've seen, from what you've written about?
Who do you think is going to be around come Sunday afternoon?
I haven't even filled that bag calling. I'm no names to be honest because Duffy even said earlier.
He was like nobody knows who I am.
You know, I'm just going to try to give the big guys a scare.
I thought that was a really good attitude.
This is all at this point. It's all icing, so you might as well enjoy it.
I think Damon has been really fun to watch.
I think this course fits him better than maybe he thought when he was planning to get
his ass kicked.
It's not maybe playing as quite as long as he thought it would, and he's pretty precise
and so he's had some success here.
I think we could see him, stick around.
What do you guys think?
Well, to your point, I walked a few holes with Joel earlier this week and he had said,
you know, that the course didn't fit him well beforehand.
And I, someone asked him, okay, do you feel any differently after playing nine holes?
And he's like, ah, no, not really.
I think the good thing, though, is it's going to play firmer and faster as Saturday and
Sunday go along.
It'll play even shorter than it is right now, right?
So he should, he should see a little bit of a boost there.
I want to know if you can tell me how the hell you get Duffy out of the MJ,
how he spells his last name. How do you get Duffy out of that? Can you help me with that, please?
I don't know. Dustin Johnson clearly doesn't know. I asked him if there was anybody,
I was because I was working on the story. I asked him if there's anybody in this field. He,
he wasn't familiar with. And he was like, the guy who was leading for a while, I don't know his name.
So he didn't even want to try. I think because he's seen how it's spelled I
That I mean that's one of the one of the US open storylines for me is how on earth do you say that word?
Well, DJ might have been reformed referring to more a cow on all so
What do you what do you have playing for this weekend? What are you what are you?
What are you going to be covering? What are you, what are you, what are you going to be covering?
What are you looking into the most this weekend?
Well, the, the most important question that I'm thinking about myself, although I have not found a way to write about it is which potentially us open when you're, when our is funniest in a Boston accent.
I think we've got a lot of really good options there. So I, that's how I've been entertaining myself.
Basically all the time.
It's just imagining like Mark Howard,
they're a lot of good, hotty,
they're a lot of good options.
I'd like to camp out by 11 tomorrow for a while.
People are talking about that a lot.
I think that seems like a pretty cool hole,
the sort of cliff there.
I'll hang out there and then,
other us at the time, I'm just,
I'd just like to see what happens. How do you assess Brooks's performance this
week? I know you read something about Brooks or is golf
performance or his press conference? I guess both. Well, you
know, 67 today. We actually have it here. Cody, if you
don't mind, mind play in this little clip from Brooks
Capca earlier, this is of course credit to the USGA
from putting these up here. But you you mentioned this
earlier on Twitter as well and
Yeah, this was this was an interesting one Cody if you can hit play please do
It you don't project much doubt insecurity when you're talking to us
Is there more that we don't see or are you just you know in contention at the US open again? And that's it you you expected
I mean I Don't come here hoping for a second place. I think if you're a good player you want to come in here and win.
That's why everybody's team it up.
I mean, no one has a goal of just making the cut or anything like that.
So, I mean, I'm pretty confident, but I'm feel like everybody should be confident themselves. And if you're not, I mean, people hate confidence.
That's why some people aren't a big fan of me.
God, the last part.
It's like, all that's fine until you have a man like that.
It's like every quote at the end, it's like, yeah, and yeah, that's why you all, it's
just like, what, where did that come from?
It's bizarre.
It's a classic, he's got to find a reason that he's an underdog.
He went for a major. It's okay. Well, you're underdog because people don't like you because you're too
confident. There it is. DJ had a great tweet earlier. It was like, yeah, that's definitely why people
didn't root for, you know, hated for MJ and Tiger, right? They just were too confident. Yeah,
exactly. That's what it could root for. Right. People hate that, especially an athlete.
for two confidence. Yeah, exactly. Right. People hate that, especially in athletes.
Stephanie, what's, uh, what's the, I'm putting you on a
smile a little bit, but what's the like weirdest thing you've
seen or heard this week being out at the tournament?
Well, this is sort of a niche answer, but I was surprised to
be in the merchandise tent the other day and see a t-shirt
with the names of all the past US open winners with john rom spelled with an h and john
Feel like that's not a lot of respect. I mean, it's the official merchandise. I feel like they got to do better than that
Can you imagine if they get that to kept oh my god
They've done that to kept one the next eight. See, it's why they hate me because it my name's too hard to spell
I wrote about him in
2018 and he listed for me all of the ways that people had missed
pronounced his name.
And he had them all stored up and he knew the moment he had heard it.
Well, he definitely he would have bought that shirt and worn it around.
Do you remember what those examples were?
He got cupcake.
He used to hear cupcake at I think at at the waste management open i think he heard
cupcake uh kopeeca was one that was bothering him there was koutka there were there were a couple
but yeah he had a moment that someone mispronounced it. He's on all the trash cans this week around
town too there's there's uh like like every trash can and bus stop has like a big mickle of ultra thing.
And we're driving through South Hander back bay
and one of them had like two of his teeth blacked out
with a sharpie.
And like I wouldn't be surprised if you found that.
And somebody sent him that picture
and he's got framed in his rental house.
See, that's why these people in Boston don't like me.
It's unbelievable.
You know, as anyone ever asked her as anyone ever asked Brooks about the veneers or the huge
tooth teeth upgrade he got between the 2017 and 2018 US Open, dig into that. If you,
if you haven't already Stephanie, that if you're looking for an angle, if you're looking
for, I feel like I've, I've, I've been yelled at by Brooks Keppga enough this week. I don't
need another maybe, Maybe next time.
Do you feel like you just stare like stairs a hole in you
when you're in a room?
Well, I just, so I, I mean, I asked him about live the other day
and he was pretty upset.
And it was kind of like, what, what did you think?
Did you think that was not going to come up?
That one sort of blew my mind.
So yeah, he was kind of staring into my soul, which...
Well, not only that, it's like...
Yeah, it can be stressful, but...
His, he was so obviously defensive.
It's like, he's like an open book.
It's like he thinks he's playing chess.
It's like, no dude, you're just getting
like double-jumped checkers right now.
Like, you're making it very obvious that like...
He's playing the tea game.
This is like, this is exactly what Stephanie should be asking you
Because you're not handling it well, right? Like that's that's a horrible answer. I like him
I think he's a like a much smarter guy than people go and credit for I think he's
But I it was it was genuinely shocking to me that he was not prepared for that. It was like the most obvious question
Like your brothers there. I just
Every every so they and heraries are getting asked about.
Like it was probably gonna come up for you.
Stephanie, you're throwing a black cloud
on this entire podcast, right?
We, yeah, we're trying to talk about the US Open.
I had declared this a live free zone.
We're gonna get you out of here on this.
Who's your pick to your official pick?
Can be no name or not to win the US Open.
I feel like, you know, you're not go broke that i'm scottie shop like this
i like that one so i like to hear that i like that one a lot so
well thank you for uh... battling through the connectivity issues and joining us
tonight
no no no no no
for your patience we have extremely amateurs set up here i'm surprised it's
working as well as it does so thank you for calling in and uh... enjoy the weekend
cheers thanks for having me. Thanks, Stephanie. All right, Cody, we
are, we're an hour in. What have we, what do we miss to this point? What are, what are
people burning on in the comments and whatnot? The bottom, nope, Bob. It's going to, it's
going to say, it looks like you've been like holding the line over there on the bottom.
She's in chemical episodes. Yeah, what are you up to?
I don't know. We're doing pretty good.
So I don't want you guys to jinx it a little bit, but
I think people just, yeah, I think we, you know, you guys did a pretty good job
covering top of the leaderboard disappointed by a lot of big names and cuts.
Obviously, Neil, thank you for clearing up.
The fact that you're not going see Finaus outfit tomorrow,
maybe on like a discount rack somewhere outside of Boston,
that'll be the only place you can find out.
I wonder if they think,
or whatever it is.
What's the best thing that you guys saw today?
Can we save that segment?
Cause we got on the leaderboard a little bit more.
Can we do our cash app segment here?
Cause we talk about the set up somewhere.
We do gotta, to, of course,
brought to you by our friends at Cash app. If you've been watching our live shows, you
know that we're giving out straight cash. I don't see, I already remember, or forget
code. Is it $50 we're giving out per comment? I think it's $50 per comment. You got to drop
it. Somebody got money sent to them. So it should be 50. Yeah. You got to drop your
cash tag when you do it. You're gonna give us your top three,
three-word summary of today's action
or it could be today's show if you want to,
if you want to pander a little bit.

$10 to go to youth on course.
Cody, are you able to snag some comments here? Oh, I like little, I don't
want to say that one out loud now, but little boys, oh, little boys open. It was pretty good
from Devbot. I hold on, man, the bots might come rushing in on that one. Oh gosh, I can't pick some of these.
I can't do both at the same time.
I'm gonna need you to do comments
because I'm gonna pick something that is,
I got one.
Well, I don't know if this is three word.
RIP bonds, I tree, might be, might be in there.
It did.
People are saying apology from TC.
TC's initials on.
Hold on.
Don't, this is what happens. You guys start calling them out. We don't display them on the screen. People are saying apology from TC, TC's initials on.
This is what happens.
You guys start calling them out.
We don't display them on the screen.
Then people who think they want,
they set them, give me up in emails,
and it blows up into, it's gonna ruin my morning again.
Grand Theft Damon.
Okay, yes.
If you got the comments, you drop them in there.
We're gonna chat here a little bit about
what's going on here.
But what, let's see, I'm trying to get to the most disappointed.
I asked Randy, and then we paused there.
Speed, we sick.
So yeah, so T.C.
What do you got?
Um, hopefully what?
Okay.
Pretty obvious.
Adam had one that a little gravity day today. He shot two over
part 72 to get back to two. But respect for him. He birdies last two holes. Yeah. He got
to a very, very poor start. You know, 38 on his first nine bogey two after making the
turn and then fought his way in. So how far back is too far back?
Because I think that's where like, you know, we haven't said, so we got Matthew Neesmith, Patrick Rogers, Brian Hormann, kind of at minus three there.
We haven't talked Burns yet. Burns had a great round 67 today. He's a minus two,
Fitzpatrick's at minus two, just a solid, rock solid round from Fitzpatrick today.
Got a little sloppy on two through four.
I mean, we, I know we dogged him earlier,
but Bo Haas are bogey free.
66 today.
Should have been a penalty last for a pace of play though.
And I want to say for Fitzpatrick,
it just has not felt like he's even played good.
He's T13.
It just, he hasn't, doesn't seem like he's putted great. He, uh, he just seems like, uh, it seems like watching
came Smith at the last several majors of like, he just kind
of leaving it around the hole, but not really getting it in
or having really fully maximized your performance
and you're sitting right there.
He's playing just a tip.
He's, dude, his driving numbers are insane.
You guys thought I was bullshitting?
No, I did not think you were bullshitting.
It was just like, holy shit to actually see those mouth, uh, mouth per hour numbers are insane. You guys thought I was bullshitting. No, I did not think you were bullshitting. You were just like, holy shit to actually see those malprow
or numbers up there and see his strokes gain off the tee.
And I mean, he went from like 112 to 40th in ball speed
on tour just in the last year.
I think, uh, Calum Terran, like shout out to him
for shot 67 yesterday, shot 72 today.
That's very respectable.
Travis Vicks the low AM right now.
He's minus one.
Lingmer's minus one. Riley Davis.
There it was. Terran Callum as well as what he was referred to today.
Zanders at minus one. Yeah. Anything to say there. Yeah. I think he's a T12.
I think he's in a good spot. I think he can he can make some noise and you probably
get a six straight top 10 and not win. So Willie Z.
You know, I'm so proud of you. So. Willie Z. God.
Neil, I'm so proud of you.
I'm more proud of that take than anything I've ever been proud of you for.
Thanks, man.
That's cool.
That's cool to hear.
Willie Z is at minus one.
Let's talk some Willie Z.
He got totally just iced today.
I saw, I think I saw one putt and it was obviously this a moment ago when he made a 30-foot
putt.
Bertie's last two holes to get in at one under.
But man, it's like, we're talking about this guy a lot coming in
and he was in a playoff for the last major
and it just feels like he was completely forgotten about.
I think our guy cruising with Matt is on top of it.
Yeah, too many commercials.
Is it time for hamster, damn?
Too many commercials?
I think we can do hamster, damn, now.
And I think we can put a wrap on the game, Cody.
I know you're working your butt off here grabbing a lot of comments.
Thank you for, well, mine, I'll give you my my three words
Can't quit you worry. Yeah, that was that was my that was my day
That was my three words for today my three words a moment ago
I think somebody I might be stealing this from somebody last night, but it was
cock USA NBC
night, but it was a cock USA NBC. And then also cock it goes back to which you know that's obviously too many words. There's more channel changing that goes on than there are words
that are allowed. It's like on becoming. Ranny, what do you got? Oh man. That's just three
words. Oh man. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah yeah, I'll leave it at that. I
But when we kick off hamster damn hamster damn here. I want to remind people that NBC got this contract
from Fox after COVID hit Fox pulled the plug on this bad contract. It was a loss leader for them,
but they innovated the way golf was covered and especially around this championship. The first
year was brutal. It was awful, But every year since then was an improvement.
They are the ones that pushed everything with top tracer. They were the ones that brought drones in.
And they are the ones that brought limited commercial interruption.
And when they got the contract for 30 cents on the dollar, I was hoping that it would be the same commercial windows.
But instead, when NBC picked it up, they've taken it and then just sold their normal commercial allotment on top of it. It was the same disgrace last
year. I asked Mike Wannabe on the podcast last year. He didn't really have a great answer
for it. And in terms of basically sent the message of like your best championship is getting
butchered on television and didn't seem like there was much of a reaction to it. So here
we are. I might lay some of that at Mike's feet because, I mean,
we're getting a lot of USGA, like you called it the
nesting doll of promotion.
Just.
Yeah, the house ads are kind of brutal too.
Like, some of them are good, but I'm seeing a lot of them.
And the thing that's really bugging me other than flipping
from channel to channel, which is, I feel like every 15 minutes,
I'm getting the Olympic music, the lead in.
It's like, well, who is coming in?
There's no hockey game going on,
or college basketball game.
They're reintroducing the coverage
after every commercial break.
And so they're going from, I counted it.
It was the Fernando segment,
we may segment, Stimp meter segment,
Boston Skyline segment,
and then it cheers bar segment all within 60 minutes,
or just over an hour.
It's like, what?
So we're breaking out into these two minute segments,
which some of them are pretty good,
but then you're hitting me with the Olympic music.
So it's like, it's just,
it's grinding everything to a halt.
So it's like, okay, now let's go back out to you.
We haven't showed you Rory in two holes.
Let's check in on Rory.
It's like man,
just to clarify that the the song is the US Open Music, not the not the Olympic music. They
have special music for it. Are you sure? Yeah. Cause I feel like it's Olympic theme is different.
Yeah. It is. They have to like it sounds like the
Olympic and it would make sense because the theme slaps the US Open theme slaps.
Okay. It does. And they keep playing it though and it reminds me of the Olympics when they're cutting between
sports.
And that makes sense.
It's like they're going from swimming over to gymnastics or whatever.
So you got to kind of like reset everything.
Okay, let's go to the studio with Toreco and then let's go to a new sport.
But it's like, no, we're going straight back into the same round.
I've been watching all day.
It's not a studio show.
I'm just getting bounced around.
They were so far behind at the end
They're hilariously far behind they always mentioned that the under one a gold medal like how fucking self-serving is that
Like shame on Pete Pavakwa shame on your Aunt Molly shame on Brian Roberts at Comcast like
They own fucking golf channel they won't put it on them. They won't put it on golf channel. They refuse to like, just leave it on NBC.
It's a disgrace.
So they won't put it on golf channel
cause they're trying to push the Cox subscriptions
where I'm still getting ads,
but that's also frustrating.
It's like, is that a paid service?
And some of those ads are for other streaming services.
HBO is advertising on the Cox.
That's what I will not.
And I will say that.
You know what, and like meanwhile,
they're paying fucking droopries,
like $5 million a year, not to work for them this year.
It's a disgrace.
It's just, they have bastardized it, man.
I will say one more thing.
I don't have any issue with the, like, analysts,
like the coverage.
What's not their fault?
No, it's not.
Azinger's been fine.
Toreco's been great.
Like, I think the commentators have been solid.
It's not even Tommy Roy's fault.
Like, it's just so disjointed, jumping around,
both me personally trying to find the channel
and then them throwing me into these segments,
like for no reason, they're just like,
why are you dropping that in right now?
And then yeah, we're starting from zero every 15 to 20 minutes.
I agree.
Yeah, and then it's just the playing through
and the booking.com ads and then Cadillac ads,
which how does that even happen?
Because it's a Lexus event with US,
like they're just, they're just,
and they're hitting us with like,
I hate it when the NBA does this, but when they start hitting you with crossover Hollywood, when ABC starts hitting you with US, they're just, they're just, and they're hitting us with like, I hate it when the NBA does this,
but when they start hitting you with crossover Hollywood,
when ABC starts hitting you with movies,
or like,
Oh, ESPN and ABC love, dude.
So, NBC's hitting us with the minions, you know,
like, I guess they're run of minions.
I don't know, Randy, I know you're a big minions guy.
What, you got anything on that?
Comcast is probably making minions.
It's a big franchise,
and now I gotta hear about the minions.
No, leave me out of that.
We need our friends at Rolex to step up
and give us commercial feedback.
I don't even get me started on the Rolex commercial.
That word salad shit of the ring.
I'm even carsid even said now,
so she's like, what are they talking about?
I'm like, they're not, they're not talking about anything.
It's just perpetual.
One thing on the Rolex front from being out on site,
those clocks are like in play, like off the tee.
They are close to those tees
and they're getting maximum exposure
for those Rolexes.
They're not staging the Lexus's or Lexi.
I guess you would call them out on the course
as much as they did a few years ago
under the Craig Anus administration.
But also Lexus should probably activate against the damon thing.
Like tomorrow morning, hey, you're a car.
I'm like, car man, can we keep going on the leaderboard?
No, hold on, I want to ask the end hamster, Dan, I'm going to start with Randy.
What's your least favorite commercial going this week?
There's an individual, we got to, you, everybody got a shit on one commercial
Honestly, they've been none that stick out to me. I completely zone out
sometimes during golf and For sure during commercials. I don't I don't have a good answer for you. I'm sorry bad answer solid
What do you got? I think it's Geico? Whatever the one. It's like we have an animal living in the roof
He's oh
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, again, and again, and again. Surprise. You liked the commercial. How much you hate the drive-chip and putt? I love kids playing golf. They're playing real golf in that commercial.
So I love it.
Yeah.
Mod, there's this one where Keith Urban is like fake shredding guitar and some random honky-tonged
bar.
Keith Urban.
One, I'm over Keith Urban in his phony ass country act.
He's Australian.
That's bullshit.
And he's trying to claim Nashville as home.
And two, like, yeah, I'm just over it. And I saw that car just like five times a day.
I don't even know what they're advertising,
but I'm sick of it.
All right, let's get to NASCAR.
That sucks, I just,
I just don't know how to sell.
Is that a NASCAR commercial?
I'm not sure, brother's out there.
You're just going right out of it.
Well, honestly, I do kind of hate NASCAR.
So that, that, that, that tracks for me.
Sorry if you like NASCAR, I've never been into it.
Let's get to our best thing we saw today and.
Please go down the lead.
We did go down the lead.
But don't forget, we haven't talked about the guys that even yet.
Like Thomas Peter shot 68 today. He's even Brooks.
That's the leader. You're reading the leader board.
No, but like how far back is too far back?
Brandon Matthews, our guy he called in last night.
He's even great 69 today.
Hedecki's 70 70. He's at even like these guys are
five back and we haven't mentioned their fucking name yet. What are you gonna say about
them? Well, we did not we did not get to play how far back is too far back. I would like
to go around the Hornet at least get everybody's opinion on that. He grinded his balls off
today. Shot 71. I personally think even too far back. Oh wow. I do. I don't think anybody
from evens gonna win. So guys at plus one you I don't think anybody from evens going to win.
So guys at plus one, you got JT, Shamest Power, shout out to the Irish, DJ, Team Rose, Patrick
Reed, AKAP, Sebastian Soderberg, Mark Leishman, Joaquin Neiman, and Mackenzie Hughes all at plus one.
I'd say plus two is too far back for me.
Austin Greaser, pride of Vandalia, Ohio, too far back,
Bryson, too far back.
JT is not too far back.
He's only six back and he was six back on the back nine at the PGA.
Bryson making the cut, 71, 71, is shout out to Bryson.
Is impressive coming off surgery.
So like we're so we're so we're we're shooting all over
speed for being plus two being disappointed in him being
disappointed in max. But we're padding bryson on the head.
Hey, just got back to a risk injury. I don't think it was
actually hurt. I think it was all fake. Okay.
People are talking about scars they saw and stuff.
And you think that's all. Yeah.
Okay. What's the what's we also reported that he broke his
wrist. So that's the broken.
There's going to be cooler tomorrow T.C.
D.C. wants to do
Rican up his medical records. No, I'm looking at the windy app right now.
Pretty similar wins as we've had the last couple days.
You know kind of it's more out of the northwest instead of the southwest tomorrow.
Sunny all day like just a brilliant day.
High looks like it's 64, 65 degrees.
And we got 14 mile an hour winds pretty much sustained
all the way through four o'clock.
It goes up to 15 miles an hour, then 16 miles an hour,
and a few more gusts as we get later.
Could be some crispy sweater time.
So, I'll actually end on a high note.
Sure.
Best thing you saw today. The best thing I saw
today. You should have an accompanying picture. I, uh, I, I, it was John, John, Rahm shot into 14.
You know, if we're going to talk about actual golf, it was he had 267 in. He hit a four iron up
over blind over a ridge, shaped it around a tree. Uh, and it was just like, it was just a big boy
mashing golf shot. That was excellent. It was just awesome.
Excellent. It was just like a salute your talent. I walked a few holes with them on Tuesday,
decidedly not flushing it specifically on this part of the golf course and was did not
expect a whole lot of them coming in this week. And he just something. I wish there was
a word for like, you know, a device like that that just doesn't sink.
It only goes under for just a split second,
and then it just pops back to the surface.
Stays up on the surface, and you can't put it under water,
you can't drown it, I wish there was a word for that.
But what's your best thing you saw today?
I rented porth at a tweet that had me rolling,
and I'm a massive fan of SVU, law and order special victims
units, so seeing the media center I'm a massive, massive fan of SVU law and order special victims units.
So seeing this, seeing the media center when they switched from USA over to NBC and to
see some reruns of SVU come on in the media center, I honestly probably would have said,
like, yo, yo, can we?
Because I know they hooked them with, like, you know, somebody got got right off the bat
and Stabler and Benson are trying to, like, it's a classic who done it,
and then the music hits, I would be like,
oh, can we stay here just for?
Is USA characters welcome?
Oh, yes.
Oh, I'm watching that. Oh just in the flesh of the coverage balancing around
like, that's happened in the freaking meat center.
Like, what do you think?
Like, the guy that fell asleep on his couch, you think he's going to go searching around
for peacock?
It's like, no, you just lost him, man.
This is stupid.
T.C., what was the best thing you saw today?
You know what?
I was going to go with Blandy making the cut.
That was awesome.
I think, you know, Adam Scott'sandy making the cut. That was awesome.
I think Adam Scott's brown out was fantastic. That's good stuff too.
40 different shades of brown.
But you know what, after my flight was delayed
for three hours, thanks Delta.
It's a shit show out there.
I was one of the lucky ones.
What did I ask you to hold on?
I got back to Jackson and my car. I had eight miles of range left and I got back to the airport and I got it down to
To dash dash and I went like two or three miles on that got to the gas station. I felt alive for the first time in a couple of weeks guys
What a sick guy now is the best thing you saw today was your tank of gas on empty made my day, baby
And then I paid a hundred and fifty dollars to fill up Randy, what was the best thing you saw today was your tank of gas on empty made my day baby and then I paid a hundred and fifty dollars to fill up. Randy what was the best thing you saw today?
Um, so this will be a bit of a curveball but it is, I do want to just say it's very
cool to see. Karl Morakawa, Ram, McElroy, Sheffler, you know, within two shots of each other
heading into the weekend of a major championship.
I think that's excellent for golf. I hope the course becomes difficult and we really see these guys put to the test this weekend.
But the leaderboard taking shape is the best thing I've seen today.
I wanted to say this earlier too. It kind of feels like the names you just named is like the new era of major guys.
Like it's kind of not DJ anymore, kind of not Keppka,
kind of not speak.
That's not shit on DJ.
No, I'm just saying like it's not,
this is a constant names that keep chef
as enough for Kawa, Rory, Simea up, man.
I watch the top four major winners right now.
You know, the four defending
champs are all there. JT's a little further back at plus one, but you know, three of the last
four major champions are T8 or better right now. The guys are currently holding a whole
time. I'm speaking to look back on this year. If you doesn't play well at St. Andrews,
I think my god, like that was a really good chance for me. One of my last, you know, great chances, I guess, because it's going to kind of go back to some bombers, paradises, I think.
Cody, anything you got for best of the day. Oh, God. That's wheat from Tommy Tuputs,
aka Tom Kasky, which is Cody, just, the silent protector protector the silent protector me where he's photoshopped on top of all the bots in coming on the live show which
Did not hit us the defense shield was up tonight and nothing got what what what a call it the he's implementing the iron dome for us
The bots the bots that's pretty good call That is what we're going to edit on tonight.
Oh, another good thing. There are four, four amateurs made the cut. I think to make,
make the cut in the US open as amateur yet Travis Vick, he's a Texas, right? He has
University of Texas, Austin, Greaser, he's a UNC student and then Sam Bennett. I don't,
I'm not super familiar with him and then Stuart Haggisdead
I want to give a shout out to Stu. He played his last
He was basically birdied
Start on the back today birdie five
Coming in and then play the last in basically last four in even to make the cut on the number
Face time with Stu. This week. We've kind of buried the hatchet.
He's had a cool week.
Eight here.
He got out.
You know, got out.
T.C.
He's getting soft.
Run and, you know, made the cut.
It's cool to make the cut as an am in the US open.
You know, you can argue about his amateur bonafides.
I've still not convinced on that side of things.
I'm just impressed he did it at a non-anchor site.
That's all. That's what really impressed me the most.
On the flip side, I want to call up world number one amateur
Keeta Nakajima for potentially maybe being a little fluffy.
I haven't seen a whole lot of great things from him.
Really?
Over the last little bit.
And Ludwig lost in the quarter finals of the the amateur.
Today not not not to be confused with the open that we're currently watching.
The amateur presented by the RNA and her majesty.
I need to see some W's at a Ludwig here over the next month or two.
Damn, I hate that for ETC.
God.
I'm not going to be able to sleep.
Cody, would you miss anything?
Nope. I think we got it all. We
rocked it, boys. Let's stop now. There. I got one more best thing that if you get tired of
US Open Golf, the LPGA leaderboard this weekend is awesome. Our young hitter Madeline is tied for
fourth. It is a fantastic leaderboard. That will be on golf channel this weekend
from three to six Easter.
That's like a freaking all-star line of,
it's unbelievable.
It's hitters only, I love it.
Flushers only.
You can finally grow Lexi Madeline.
Everybody's there.
You can also find that on flusherzonly.com.
Please don't go there.
That might be for all to that.
Don't do that.
Don't do that. Don't do that. in thank you boys for being here Cody thank you
for for being on on watch even though the bots left us alone tonight but we'll see everyone back here
tonight we're just you have a two p.m. block party worry app that's right see you then
tomorrow no i'm gonna stop by but i got other stuff going that's okay. That's okay. Just drop in Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you don't bring something. I mean, you know sick pack or some corn-beafing cap. Yeah, whatever you got
You know at all or welcome Rory have we'll see you tomorrow at 2 p.m. Cheers crack on
Get a right club be the right club today
That's better than most.
How about in?
That is better than most.
Better than most.
Expect anything different?
