You're never gonna guess it. No way, no way. But, you know, why don't you give us a little update on the ice situation and tell us about your
Starting point is 00:01:14 hundred hole hike as well. Yeah, well Cody, why don't we flash it up there? I think this is what we've been using for RSVPs for the block party tomorrow. It looks like it's gonna be a big turnout. People think we're always gonna get it done. The ice I can promise you looks very similar to this, so I was gonna provide a weekend update.
Starting point is 00:01:29 I'm a little worried there's gonna be a lot of people in the cooler, latch security is gonna be a problem tomorrow at the party. Starting point is 00:02:19 Thank you. All right, what's the biggest story of the day? T.C., I'll go to you first. What's your biggest story of the day? Can'tC. I'll go to you first. What's your biggest story of the day? Cam, baby. I mean, it was almost a disappointing 64 with how he finished. I mean, he's so freaking good at golf. Like, he's a proper golfer.
Starting point is 00:02:36 He's such a superior golfer to Rory. It's crazy. I get the right to do that. What's the measurement? What unit of measurement are you using for that, by the way? Okay. I derive so much enjoyment from watching cam Smith play golf like even on a couple that holes on the back nine today Trying to think which ones come to mind a couple spots where the pin was just above a little ridge
Starting point is 00:02:58 He missed his spot by like eight inches and it goes just over a little mound Or like on on, he comes up, Josh, like maybe six inches short, rolls back down. That could have been a 61 or a 62. But how's it be putting? I mean, God, you know, what a... Mauritius putter of all time. It's unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:03:17 He's rolling in these 30 footers, which when Cam has it, has it going the microwave, man, it's, you know, it's tough to beat, but does that run out over the weekend, right? Or does he just keep pressing and, you know, I just, we were talking about it last night, worry a little bit about the aggressive play and whether that's gonna, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:33 that luck's gonna run out a little bit over the weekend. But he's not a great driver of the golf ball. That's kind of his one weakness, I think, and that's a little bit mitigated here. Sure. And to the putter question, I mean, you look what he did at the players' distance.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Yeah. And the only time I've really seen him struggle with the putter was at Southern Hills. And that wasn't like those greens were weird. I love Cam too. I'm just devastated that TC's got like 950 nuggets on him this week. So that's just tough for the boys here
Starting point is 00:04:02 to a very conflicted thing to be rooting for. How did nobody else make a play on it? I, that was one of those became very apparent to me after the fact situation. He hasn't been playing great. I mean, I looked at it. He had a good week to Scottish, but he's been playing very poorly
Starting point is 00:04:16 over the last month leading up to this. I think this is something that he's been trying to peep for very much. Could be. I'm a little, I don't know if I want to get sucked into the rabbit hole to address that He's by far in a way a better golfer than Rory or if we just move on from that But I just want to I want my I'm the throw my objection in just for the record so it's noted in there
Starting point is 00:04:33 We don't have to he's a thrower No, no, no, no, he's learning to locate he's learning the low kid and he's he's added a couple other pitches to the arsenal He's come back in shape ready to go this season. I love the way he loves. Yeah, that's what I'm John. Exactly. Randy, what was the best thing that you saw today? We're going there already.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Yeah, yeah. No, no, no, no, not that segment. But like, what stuck out to you today? What was the storyline? We were in a great spot going into the weekend. The six holes, unleared lots of different storylines. I mean, I don't think it's much more complicated than that, is it? I feel like my spidey senses, we've been here a few times with CAM.
Starting point is 00:05:18 So I guess I want to maybe throw some caution that we have a lot of golf remaining, but should be a very fun weekend. I think, you know, I'm not sure it's got to be any more complicated than that, I guess. Guys, takes are so hot, they're just getting throttled by the Wi-Fi gods in there. But we do have a little debate on the show last night about a friend of ours that, you know, he hit his opening T-shirt, whether or not it was intentional, you know, whether or not he was trying to do what he did off the first t-e yesterday
Starting point is 00:05:47 he went out did the same thing again today we might as well bring him in and ask him about that maybe some other things that may have happened today but uh... we can welcome into the show mister of course mister max homahello max hello pro i didn't know you guys were were dog me like that no no no question what wondering was it a shanker stinger off one on Thursday? Skank a skank Skank excuse me a skank. We was it it was a
Starting point is 00:06:16 It was a stinger. I love it. All right good. We've answered the question sounded really confident What I was very confused by by the line of questioning. Well, the shot tracer didn't like look great on it. It was kind of like a, oh, look, okay, we thinned that one, but okay, it's out there in the first fairway and we're off. I mean, it was the one I hit today was definitely more out of the middle, but yeah, your goal there, I think playing with Tiger nervous as hell is just to move it forward. Matt, Matt just chunked the hell out of his seven wood right before I went. That was a guy, all right. Well, as long as I kept the scene, we said, bottom three grooves, it'll never stop rolling out here. So it'll look good. But I hit it all right. But the one I hit
Starting point is 00:06:58 today was definitely cleaner. But I was not, I didn't think that I was under, under fire. I was surprised, I was surprised of people questioning it that I was under under fire. I was surprised a Surprised of people questioning it. So this is news to me. Don't be dramatic What more of just an unanswered question and we wanted to go to the source with it before we speculate for the record I was not on the I was not on the show last night Don't don't lump me in with these guys and for the record. I sounded like you confirmed it like it today was more out of the middle It sounded like that was not not not so tell me about you said skanky. I've said.
Starting point is 00:07:29 What so you said you mentioned your little nervous playing before the cat. What was that emotion like before you put the peg in the ground and how much The tiger have to do with that. Yeah, it was it was odd because you know right when I had the tea time Joe laughed left, or maybe he laughed because, you know, we were playing at three o'clock and he goes, well, at least you don't have to think about it, you know, for a full two days. So I thought, you know, the lead up was a lot, but I split up my morning pretty good yesterday
Starting point is 00:07:57 and worked out and like made it feel like I wasn't just sitting around all day. And I felt actually oddly normal all morning and all warm up and then we have to take a shuttle from the range back to the first tee and that putting green by it. And when we got over there and it was just me Matt and Tiger, it was like holy hell,
Starting point is 00:08:19 like what is this? Fortunately, talk to Tiger before we walk to the tee and then, you know, obviously you guys have been there. And that first tee shot obviously is easy, but it's also oddly like the tee is pretty far from everybody. Like it's far from the grandstand on 18. It's far from the right, the people on the right. It's far from the grandstand up the right fairway.
Starting point is 00:08:42 You feel kind of like on an island. And that's already like an eerie thing, whether you're playing with Tiger or not, I feel like it would be eerie, you know, in 60th place on a Sunday. And I wasn't, you know, thinking too much about that until when they announced Tiger, like I realized how many people there were.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Like it was lining, it was the hotel, the Russics Hotel, it was the stands behind was lining it was the ho the rustic hotel It was the stands behind 18 it was a stands right a one It was all the people lining the putting green it was all the way up by the green because they do it on a microphone And everyone can hear it and all of a sudden like holy shit. This feels like it feels like I'm on like a stage And I went by the time I was able to like walk out to the tee, it feels like you're just so alone. It feels like you're so alone. And it's almost, I told Joe, it's almost such an easy t-shot that it like, we all, like I was talking to Matt about, we saw Polter's t-shirt almost got a bounce and we both said
Starting point is 00:09:37 I really wish to God I had not even seen that because it didn't even seem possible and then all of a sudden it gets in your mind. So it was weird, but I mean, great. And if you're going to be nervous, that's the easiest hole in the world to play. You can hit whatever you want off the tee and then just go way long. But man, that is, it was just crazy. The amount of people was the most nutty thing about it to start the day. That was the first thing I noticed and then being in start the day. That was like the first thing I noticed
Starting point is 00:10:05 and then being in front of Tiger. You know, that was really cool, but I'll say this man, he is really easy to play with. He was super friendly. Obviously didn't get off to a great start, but he was super friendly and made it easy. And that part was, the cool factor never wore off, but like the freak out wore off a little bit.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Was, so tell me about today, you know, coming up to 18, you know, you, where are you adding your round? How focused are you on like what you've got going on versus like the moment that's unfolding right in front of you? Yeah, you know, we thought about it yesterday when we got to the 18th hole because obviously it was just Thursday, but like you know when you go over that bridge, it's like signify something and Like engulfed Laura, I guess, but I was like oh, you know, I should probably let Tiger just go first him He got like a ovation walking up 18 yesterday, too Obviously nothing like today, but he did so like lag back a little bit or whatever And then I was thinking about that for today because obviously didn't play well yesterday
Starting point is 00:11:05 and to make the cut today would add a ball out. So for the back nine, it was in my head that at some point we were gonna have, we're getting a lot of ovation for him. Like he was getting a lot of ovation. So that was cool. You get to the popular holes and people are really cheering for him.
Starting point is 00:11:21 It was cool. I was in full grind mode all day today. I got to a bad start, which was actually kind of cool because I felt it felt very normal playing with him because I was just like doing my thing. And then yeah, on 18, I needed to make eagle. So, you know, I hit it, I hit a t-shirt down, down the fairway, and then I just stood to the side, and we just like waited and he like kind of lagged off the tee which was funny and am I still here yeah we got through all the all froze but yeah so like I lagged off the tee and and Matt
Starting point is 00:11:58 lagged off the tee and then the caddies all went right and Tiger was like slowly I was like you need to walk because I'm not walking in front of you. Look at you say that's who walking. No, no, just like just please start walking because I will sit my ass on this tea. And like he so we started walking up in like LeCov, like even tap mat I saw on the shoulder and said walk like go ahead and he we're like like no shot. So we were wonder if he was going to stop. Joe and I were wondering if he was going to stop on the bridge or do anything.
Starting point is 00:12:27 I thought he was such a robot. He might just keep going. But he took his hat off when he did. I slowed down. I even more. It was really funny. Matt looked back at me while he was getting over the bridge. And I was like, Matt, you are too close for comfort, right?
Starting point is 00:12:42 I was like, I was like like you could have the coolest picture ever if your head was just like kind of in the corner of someone's picture of like that bridge picture it would be so funny but uh no it was cool me and Matt actually had a lot of foam walking together up that fairway we got a he got across the bridge obviously got a great ovation but it was just the rest of the walk it was really eerie in a cool way like super surreal Matt's entire Fairway was just absolutely buzzing I'm just kind of watching him from afar really felt like I was in a movie You know, I had like the coolest view ever Matt and I were chatting it up and like having a laugh and
Starting point is 00:13:19 is I don't know I was I was telling somebody after like They asked me if it was inspirational like what I saw. I was telling somebody after, like, they asked me if it was inspirational, like, what I saw, and I was like, it's not really inspiring because his career is so unthinkable to touch that many people through the game of golf and to see it kind of in one hole was, you know, people say goose bumps or whatever, but it was like all those things. It's just like, you realize he's had an important part of my life, obviously, as a golfer, as your life is a golfer, but you don't realize just how many people
Starting point is 00:13:54 absolutely adore that man. And it was cool to see it all in like one kind of, 20 minute setting. What do you say to him after you guys finish out? Like, what can you say to Tiger after he's just possibly played? Like, I personally think he's gonna play again in St. Andrews, but what do you say to him after what's possibly his final round of the whole course?
Starting point is 00:14:17 Man, well, I wanted to say, why the fuck did you miss that pie? But no, I mean, I told him it was an honor to play with him last two days. And I think it was been really cool. I did, obviously, man, I were talking to him. We didn't know him back in 0506 when he was, you know, on top of the golfing world, you know, with his game, I mean. But like he's ever since I first met him in 13, he's been nothing but nice. He's even like a couple times gone out of his way.
Starting point is 00:14:46 I did his charity thing this year and he called me after to thank me. Like very, like, very cool. And so I feel like he has this understanding as he's, you know, seen, I guess what he means to so many of us that like, he's been really cordial and I think appreciative of even when he like he didn't play well at all this weekend. He grinded his ass off and he was very cool to everybody. Absolutely like, you know, just like most professionally you could imagine, no moping, no nothing like just grinding and like getting to go around with him for the two days, you
Starting point is 00:15:24 know, it was the one of the coolest things I've ever experienced. And, you know, that's why I said it was an honor to be with him. And I feel like he even like said something back kind of just like, like a sincere thank you, not like a blow by thank you. And I think he gets how cool it is for all of us. I know he knows we all want to beat the hell out of him. And he wants to beat the hell out of us. And I think that's also like, I think the fun part for everybody is like, we're all battling, but I think he knows that like,
Starting point is 00:15:53 it's also just a bucket list. I mean, it was to do it here and just the way 18 sits. It was like, it was silly, man. It was, I don't know, it was the next level. What does he call you? Okay. So always, always thought it was going to be Maxi my entire life. I always joke, I even joke with George Savaricus about it. I said, Maxi is not a cool nickname. You had a wide of most names and it doesn't sound as cool. Maxi is like, you know, this is not that cool. And so I'm one, or sorry, the first day on the putting green, walking by, I'm like I said before he went to the tee and he put his hand out to shake my hand,
Starting point is 00:16:33 he said, he said, play well today, homey. And I'm like, hell yeah, this will go. I said, I got a nickname and it is cool. I'm going with it. And then this morning, on Friday morning, we're getting the cards and Tiger had my card. And we're like, they handed us all our own cards and then we had to kind of swap them around.
Starting point is 00:16:51 So he's like, oh, I had Maxi's card. I'm like, fuck. I'm back. But I had a 24 hours, maybe a little less of homey and I'll take that. I thought maybe it's short at the homes. Or M, or H. M. I'm going to take all, I mean, I'll take that. I thought maybe he'd shorten it to homes or M or H. M.
Starting point is 00:17:06 I mean, I'll take Maxie. It doesn't bother me, but it was funny, man. It was exactly. He did. It was cool to be around. He did all the mannerisms. I was telling Joe, like we got to tell Sully that on 14 Tiger hit his drive left and he said, get left.
Starting point is 00:17:21 Get away. Get away left. And that was awesome. He had a lot of like just like the cool mannerisms like little stuff like that. I actually really got a lot of advice before I played from like older players and like people who played with them you know a decent amount in big moments and they're just talking about not getting in his world like you know don't watch him and I really felt like I didn't but there's times like you're obviously not going to miss it and at times like you just are you are watching a little bit I mean
Starting point is 00:17:48 I would watch I'm watching Matt play but you know I I don't know every waking you know tick that Matt has because I haven't seen him play thousands of hours of golf but I have seen Tiger play so it's funny to see that stuff up close. Joe asked a great question today. We're wondering if Tiger has more money in his bank account or if there's been more pictures taken of Tiger Woods and his lifetime. And I'm not really sure the answer. It's got to be pictures. There are so many freaking people here and everyone always has their phone up. It's crazy. He's like, he's's he's just a I'm going to go with pictures. If we're talking about straight money in the bank account net worth though, I'm going to
Starting point is 00:18:31 say that's what we were we're in dabbling, which one would be a better. What? So this was homey. What hole was this on it that you were joker. We're deep in this thought exercise. It's two I think two to this morning because when he's mad and I were talking about it when you stand on the tee so Tiger going first sucks because right when he hits everyone just like everybody but a lot of people just leave and which is I don't blame them but I thought they were supposed to be the best fans in golf they shouldn't be they are they're great They were quiet about it, but they, they do leave. And you hear them, you know, everybody does it. It's like when you
Starting point is 00:19:09 play with Bryson, Marori, and they hit a bomb. It's like everyone's talking about it while you're over the ball. Um, but like when Tiger was like after one of us, we would like stand to the side, obviously, wait for him to hit. And we, man, I were talking about like you just look into the crowd and everyone has their hand in the air with their phone. And's a sea of people like a sea of people it was crazy so it was fun to watch that so that's why I think Joe asked that we started talking about it because like man I couldn't get over to so many people are just fixated on them it's it's hilarious Max every time I every time I looked up I feel like you
Starting point is 00:19:44 and you and Fitz, you were thickest thieves out there. You look like, especially coming out of 18, you look like two guys, I'm like, I can't believe they let us do this, man. Like two high school middle schoolers. Like, oh my God, can you believe that we're out here with the cat?
Starting point is 00:19:57 Like, were you tight with Matt before, or is this a budding bromance? I've always really liked Matt. Like, you know, back back in the Walker Cup. He was on the team that we killed. And we like, we did like the exchanging of ties. Uh, it's like a tradition. It's very corny, but like we end up being linked up there.
Starting point is 00:20:19 And I so I got to talk to him that day. And I've always really liked him. He's got a he's he's kind of like to himself. And I like people like that because I kind of like being myself and breaking down a rough exterior. Because like when you just look at him, he really doesn't like, you know, he's a lot like Tiger in a way, he just does his own thing and he's a really hard worker and a tremendous golfer. But every time we've ever played together, I've enjoyed being around and we play practice rounds.
Starting point is 00:20:46 Practice round one, so played the PGA last year together. And I enjoy being around and he's funny. He's a good cool dude. But this is like the fun part about being around him this week was he's obviously a unbelievable player, top 10 in the world, major champion. In the mix this week. He's a tremendous talent and a really tough, tough dude.
Starting point is 00:21:09 And it was fun being able to have these chats here and there about like, how crazy this experience was, because he's played with him before. He said it's nothing like playing a major. It's like a whole different beast, walking a bait team with him and like laughing about what we're watching was cool. Because like, honestly, a tough part about this,
Starting point is 00:21:24 like this week, or at least least today like after not playing well is like so many people in like my DMs and all these people call me fanboy and like that we're like that's why we can't like I didn't play well or whatever it's like annoying and also like reaffirming that like me and Matt can like or at least Matt did go out there and like appreciate what's happening And then also go play like good golf Because you know we are like in a way a fanboy. I mean the dude is The dude these tiger woods
Starting point is 00:21:57 What are you gonna do just like not look and even like when we're walking up 18? When we're up by the green tiger hat is put And like I looked on the fairway and you know like JT, who do you play with? JT, Lowry and Hovland were like completely flipped around watching tiger finish. It's like he just, he has so much respect from everybody and everybody just wants to like kind of see and be a part of whatever he's doing in a way. So Matt and I were just enjoying kind of that experience and I don't know, it was fun. I had a lot of expectations getting to play with them this week and I feel like it lived up to it. Obviously we both didn't play great, but the fan stuff and all that.
Starting point is 00:22:46 It was really freaking cool. I'd let that stick with, I'd let the DMs from the random people. I let that be a lasting memory for the week. Yeah, the guys that are mad about their fantasy line. Yeah, really, I would take that away from this week. That's a big thing to carry with you for a while. What?
Starting point is 00:23:00 That one knowing. The golf gambling stuff is just the most annoying thing. That's what kept me out of DFS for so long and now I actually really enjoyed doing it, but those bros just absolutely. So I always got a whole different side that we don't see that. Yeah, Max, I do have a question for you though.
Starting point is 00:23:15 I was wondering this yesterday. The group that juju on Thursday, between the three of you, just felt like you guys were all grinding. And the cat's not playing well, all these expectations, they get some bad luck, he double bow, he's the first hole. Do you feel like that impacts your round?
Starting point is 00:23:31 Like the energy, or did you feel like it was the course was just playing really hard, and you didn't play as good as you wanted to? And tell us about St. Andrews, playing at St. Andrews in general, and what's happened over the past two days, and then how you see this tournament playing out? Yeah, I don't think that the Juju was bad in our group because I actually felt like part of the grind of all three of us was like everyone felt like they were kind of
Starting point is 00:23:53 rooting for each other, which like helps the group. Mojo, the problem was is nobody can make a putt. It was making puts. It was making puts. Nice. I've had no, no people to putt in for the whole day and it was hard. I mean, she was making cuts. Yeah. Nice. I've had no, no people to put in for the whole day. And it was hard.
Starting point is 00:24:08 I mean, we got, I'm not saying we got like some bad wave by any means. But like, it was, you know, the front nine played a bit windier. So we're watching all these guys, you know, in the morning, hit these shots in close. And when we get to the holes, Matt and I were talking about, it's like, you know, we saw seven.
Starting point is 00:24:24 He told me, he's like, I saw people like landed on the down soap and they kind of check it and we're like hitting balls that are just bounding to the back half of the green. So it was hard and then you had it and nobody was putting well and it, so that was tough. I don't think it was the juju, like,
Starting point is 00:24:41 again, like going back to like Tiger grind it and it was watching everybody grind was like good in a way because it is a major I mean you know I was watching the coverage and they're showing all these great shots and birdies or whatever as they always do and then they you know the cuts even par so it's like not like everybody's out there ballin but the course is hard this is a firm is golf course I've ever played I asked Joe if it was firmer than karnusty. And he says it was basically the same thing. And you know, those balls were rolling 100 yards.
Starting point is 00:25:07 He said that Karnusty is a little easier with the firm because the holes play straight downwind and straight into the wind more. So the balls, when they start rolling, they're flying. If you get it online, it'll just keep rolling. Here, here it was like, you know, there's a lot lot I feel like a lot of angles where certain certain t-shots just like 16 16 with this win would be my least favorite all out here and as we've already discussed in text like I I pretty much love all of them but like I didn't love 16 with this win but then I watched the guys coming
Starting point is 00:25:40 in this afternoon when the win switched a little bit and it would it made you know it makes sense on paper but when it's down off the right, there's nowhere to hit hit the ball really like the fairway slopes from right to left, there's OB right and it's just like even if you landed in the right half the fairway, it's, like today we laid back through the fairway left and then, you know, I didn't have a long shot in, but I still had no, you know, no angle, no way to spin it. So that hole was tough with that wind. 14 was brutal with the wind, like Tiger on Thursday, like, Fand a drive, like did not look awesome.
Starting point is 00:26:21 And it gets up there and went 410. And he had like a nine iron end. And it was up there and went 410 and he had like a nine iron in and it was like, man, the fairway like, some of those angles just made it so hard, but it was so cool because the firmness made everything fun. Like retisants last week, you couldn't run balls up to the fronts of greens because it's not like, you know, it's not really like a true links in that way. It's not good golf course. Yeah, exactly. Not a good golf course. Exactly. That's my favorite golf course. Don't say that guy.
Starting point is 00:26:47 So it was cool to be able to play this one where it's like you always had an option to bounce it up. And I thought it was like, that was, that was sweet. But yeah, I mean, it was hard because the, the T balls, I mean, we hit it on Thursday. We hit it in the FESCUE on purpose four times. That's awesome. Today we hit it in the FESCUE in the fest few on purpose four times. That's awesome. Today we hit it in the fest few like three times.
Starting point is 00:27:07 But I do agree. It's awesome. Like I said, 16 was the only hole that was like kind of it. It's just like that hole makes so much sense to me. Like I really like that hole, but with that wind, it is obviously not unplayable, but it's like it was pretty frickin hard to think about hitting the right fairway. Starting point is 00:27:32 like an incentive to take on the aggressive line here because there's no good angle into this one, which that was the only one that's kind of like all right well we're just not letting you get to 16 today. Starting point is 00:28:02 But damn it's a hard to shot today. Being like too off the cut, getting to play that hole is a lot easier. I took it over the L and Hotel and it was in the right center of the fairway and every other day, pracht run include them in the left fest view. But that's an amazing hole. The hole golf course is good. Links to so tough, man. Like, I could have played six more pracht rounds finally, like, maybe new, what was going on. I'm glad I have a really good caddy who works really hard because we pretty I pretty much told him Thursday or Wednesday night. I was like, you're gonna do the t-shots. Like just tell me where to hit it because it's it's a lot, but I like the picture of what is going on in front of me and
Starting point is 00:28:41 on these golf courses. You it's hard to because you can't see the bunkers, you can't see anything, which is sweet. But it's so hard out on like four, five, six. Like that's the part of the course I struggle with the most because it's so blind. But there's no frame of reference. There's nothing out there that you can look at. Whereas like coming back into town,
Starting point is 00:29:00 you can kind of pick out the steep holes in the town and everything. But I love it though here in like guys hit shots and be like, that's okay, right? Like to the caddy, like, is that fine there? Is that fine there? Is that cool there? Because you just can't, you can't retain all that information.
Starting point is 00:29:12 But, I've never, I've never played before, like ever, where you would walk up to the fairway and see three balls and have to check all three of them. Like, I didn't, you don't know where your ball ends up. There was multiple times, like to your point, solid like on six, I think the first day I hit one. And it was like five yards left in my line. And I was like, Joe's that all right.
Starting point is 00:29:35 And he's like, I think so. And like we're walking up and there's one bunker up there on the left that like, I'm like, ah, the ball might be in it. And we walk up and it's 25 yards right of it, totally fine. And I'm like, you know, you take like a big sigh of relief. And then today on 12, I thought I, I thought I drove the green and I get up and I can hear the guy in front of me that Marshall say, oh, you know, Max is balls in the bunker, Max is on the green and I'm like, damn, like, you know, you just, it's just the lines are so hard to get super tight.
Starting point is 00:30:02 And which is fun. But you could play, I feel like you could play here like 20 times and still not like fully know what is going on. Starting point is 00:32:19 because getting in to eat anywhere is basically impossible. But yeah, we are going to stay here at least through tomorrow. Lace and I are going on a little vacation to Italy for a few days. We never got to do our honeymoon. So that's what we're supposed to go. So we're going to go do that. Like he just looks like he's in complete control of his golf ball. But he's done this before.
Starting point is 00:37:28 He's played really good golf in the majors and totally lit himself on fire. But it's, you have to acknowledge that. But it's a different story though, right? Like it, you know, didn't he let himself on fire at, that Southern Hills as well? Here's the one difference. I think Cam is, he's a good front runner. If you go back to Cap Allua and he plays well. Cap Allua. Cap Allua. He plays well with the lead, I think. And when he was behind at Augusta
Starting point is 00:37:53 and when he was behind southern hills, he starts to press and make bad decisions and get it all right now. And so it does worry me that he's got a three shot, you know, cushion or two shot cushion. It does. It doesn't. It doesn't. It It does because I think he plays well out in front. Like when he doesn't have to be, it's easy because you don't want him to win. Yeah, I want Roy to win. But I mean, I love watching Cam and I root for Cam. But right now I would, I just think I'm like DJ said it last night. I'm looking for the storybook.
Starting point is 00:38:18 I'm, I'm, I'm hunting down this Rory win. So like that's just my personal preference. But I think that Cam playing with a two shot lead is dangerous, because he's really good out in front. I just think there's a different thing here going on too, where he's playing the firmest, crispiest golf course in the world right now, which is similar to what he grew up playing on Australia.
Starting point is 00:38:39 Right? Yeah, that just has not translated to open championship success in the past. I think that's just kind of a fluke fluke Yanomaly thing but like with like versus a lush southern hills or a lush Augusta I don't know. I just this gets me so much more excited watching him on this Randy. What's it you? Well, sorry. I definitely hear you and I when I was laggy at the beginning
Starting point is 00:39:04 That was one of the things I'm like, I feel like we've seen Cam in this position before and it's gone other ways. But I do think what makes this time different and the more I think about it, the more I like them is, there just aren't big, huge mistakes to be had on this course with the plan pretty benign.
Starting point is 00:39:24 And so I think his aggressiveness is honestly going to serve him well. I mean, he can, he needs to pin his ears back all weekend and go get it. I mean, I'm looking at the leaderboard. There's not a guy in the top 25 today that has a six on their scorecard, you know, it's going to be who can make the most birdies. And for that reason, I think it's a little different than we've seen can at Augusta, where at a PGA or the US Open, where you have to bring in some patients and you can't go after everything. I think this tournament is different.
Starting point is 00:39:58 I'm glad to hear you agree with my take from last night. So thank you on that one. I just, I agree. I think the aggressiveness is not necessarily something that's going to cost him. Like that's been our critique of him in recent months. I just don't want to get the narrative out there that he's a big game hunter. Like he won the players championship this year, but he is that's like, and I need to give it a. Exactly. So I don't have complete trust in campsmiths. When he gets in one of those bunkers in a weird spot, like take your medicine dog,
Starting point is 00:40:25 which he's not good at doing. But like I said last night, it's like I feel like it's so firm as it is right now that there are certain total no go pins that he knows he can't get close to. So there's no reason to try. I think he gets in trouble when he can get close to a pin, like going at that back right pin at Augusta on Sunday at number 12. Like he's like, I can do this shot, I'm gonna go for it right now and didn't pull it off.
Starting point is 00:40:47 There's so many places around there where you have to go to the brake pedal and just go around the curve slowly. And I don't know, I don't know. I don't know, I'm waffling on this a little bit. I just don't wanna get carried away of like he's gonna go run away with this. I haven't seen a huge difference between no go pins,
Starting point is 00:41:03 like whether you go for them and your ball kicks away into the rough or you hit an approach a hundred feet away on the green. It's still a difficult two-putter, a difficult up and down. I don't, I feel like the no go pins are, like they're no go for everybody and nobody's gonna get close to them,
Starting point is 00:41:21 whether you go at them or not. That's what I'm saying. I think it's gonna be fascinating to see how they set up the golf course tomorrow, especially. Like, I think we know what they're gonna do Sunday for the most part, but tomorrow is like totally blank slate, right? Like, I mean, shit, the pen on 11 today was, like, I don't think they've ever put it there in an open championship before.
Starting point is 00:41:36 Yeah, same torrents or someone said, yeah, I've never seen it over here before. But like, and Cam, I just, I feel like his distance control is like, absolutely dialed, which to me takes away a lot of the mistakes that you're going to make. A lot of the mistakes are going to be short or long. And when your distance controls dialed, like, I mean, then, and then he did like the big, thick player shit on 14. That was it. That was it.
Starting point is 00:41:55 That was it. The eagle sure. It all went right for Kim and it's gone right for two days. His putting has been like off the charts. So that's that's, but he, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's barely in those seven footers. That's when he's hot. That's, uh, that's, but he's, but he's, but he's barely in those seven footers, you know, when he's hot, that's, that's not unlike him.
Starting point is 00:42:08 He was six strokes game putting today alone. Yeah, my God, man, he was making everything. It was, it was truly a pleasure to watch. Even if that regress, it was awesome. I think there's still like some, there's some low-hanging fruit. Like he parred 18 coming in. I mean, he par, you know,
Starting point is 00:42:23 parred 15 and 16. Like, I think he's got some, you know, came out digging today though. So. Very, very good. And we got a long ways to go in this golf tournament, but he's obviously in incredible position. But so, fellas, I have a question for you. I feel like this is the best leaderboard.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Like, I've ever seen or in recent memory. And I was trying to think like I don't have that much, you know, um, reference, right? But like I'm curious if you agree or if not like what do you think is a more stacked leaderboard from a world ranking standpoint. Guys, like fun, young guy, like a mix of young hungry, like a rookie up there that's that's proven himself that the world ranking, like you got what, three or four of the top 10, 15 guys right there. I mean, there's like, you know, you got Hatton in there, you got a couple villains, like,
Starting point is 00:43:12 you got to live, you got DJ. Yeah, yeah, they're stored like, right into you. What, what you were saying about storylines, just like the guy, you know, what if you get a DJ Rory pairing on Sunday, like, I think there's just like for a lot of reasons, this is one of the best leaderboards I've ever seen. Would you agree? Like normal me, let's get caught up in the recency, yes. But I'm just gonna say no,
Starting point is 00:43:33 probably cause there's some I'm not thinking of. Nothing comes to mind necessarily. I'll say it's shaping up earlier than we usually see in majors. Usually about like through three rounds or like once you turn it like get through 63 holes, like there's like the pretenders have dropped out. The like the pretenders dropped out early this week.
Starting point is 00:43:48 Just a test. The only pretender on the board right now is Cantler. No, well, we'll get to that. People have said to me on Twitter and in the comments, 2019 Masters, which I think is a great, a great comp. The difference is it didn't feel like there was the,, I mean, I guess Shoffley was kind of a young guy at that point. He had like Jason Day up there, DJ, Tiger, Capca, Moanari. But I don't know, there's something about this that feels...
Starting point is 00:44:14 It's more likely to happen at the masters like that though, just with the limited field. There's variables usually in these opens and the US open and there's just not that many variables up there right now, which is, I mean, yeah, and I'm glad we're not getting Roy DJ tomorrow. I don't want to see tomorrow turn into a live, you know, PJ to a proxy battle. I'm actually, I mean, even if they were paired together, would they actually show DJ? Well, that's another thing too, is I'm just in general, like I, like I said, this last night too, is I, I'm obviously quite anti-live, but I'm very not down with just like not showing the live guys. I want to see Bryson play the other. They're in the tournament.
Starting point is 00:44:48 Yeah. This is a major championship. This is not PGA tour. I kind of, I get what's going on in the grand scheme of things, but like you got it, you do got to treat them like they're anyone else in the tournament. Like kind of feel kind of under told that story that him being there this week as well. And man, I just kind of feel a little cheated at it. Like what. Like when we anticipated Bryce and playing the old course for a long time to see does this playing style fit at the literal home of golf?
Starting point is 00:45:11 He made the cut. He made the cut. He made the cut. Like, you know, it may not be right, but it's interesting. So I just feel like that's kind of an unnecessary, you know, if this was a PGA Tor event, they'd sued their way in.
Starting point is 00:45:24 Like a million percent understand how you don't show them, but this is not that. So, I don't know. I don't know if people agree with that or not, but. Well, another loss for, you know, just in the end, another bad thing for golf fans. Right? Like another collateral damage. Yeah. Randy, what does this leaderboard make you feel some things? Yeah, sure. It's a great leaderboard. It was a really hard question. I don't know off the top of my head,
Starting point is 00:45:50 second round, 2014 US Open is better or not, but it's a great leaderboard. I totally agree with that. I think the only nitpick I will have is I'm just worried from Cam Smith that in first to tied for eight that's six shots. I just we could see some separation. I'm not sure how much the, you know, the back half of the top 10 and getting into, you know, Fitzpatrick and some of the guys at 600, how much they're actually in the tournament. But we shall see.
Starting point is 00:46:22 How far back to see far back? Yeah, that's a good point because you're nobody's going backwards out there. You can, I mean, not too far, but you can. Not a single guy tomorrow. It's supposed to blow the tomorrow, at least to start the week was supposed to be the windiest day, right? It has looked like, Hey, this is my weapon and I'm going to use it. That dude has hit the shit out of the ball for two days. He's leading the field and strokes getting to you to green. I truly don't know what's gonna happen, but if people are looking at his name, like, oh, he's gonna fall down, like he's gonna go away, I would not dismiss him in any way. This dude is not a pretender in any way.
Starting point is 00:47:55 He just plays fearless, especially off the tee. I mean, he just, like fearless not reckless. Yeah, fearless though. Like he swings with confidence and he goes at the ball off the tee and it's just on some of those, like he swings with confidence and he goes at the ball off the tee. And it's just on some of those drives down the back nine. It's like incredibly hitting this, you know, like really confident cut, which is.
Starting point is 00:48:12 That's a great take, Keith Battle. Cameron Young is who we thought Matthew Wolf was gonna be. Yeah. He's like 187 ball speed with like with actual control. And he's got a pro-joc in the back, not too. Which I feel like could have helped him out at Southern Hills and The models for tomorrow. Whether wise models are in agreement gfs icon euro

But Kim Smith had an interesting comment post round of like he almost was preferring into the win holes at this point because how hard it is to stop the ball with how firm it is going downwind. Yeah. I gosh. I freaked out. The change in the wind conditions today, all of a sudden making like nine unreachable,
Starting point is 00:49:10 12 taking a big strike to get there and making 10 drivable, that's just, that's so fun. Like one day, 18, and the same day, 18 can be like, pop a fairway wooden, it's gonna get all the way up there. It's all of a sudden like yeah, can't miss it's gonna lay up on 18 because you can't get there anymore. I think that's, that's so fun. It shows the
Starting point is 00:49:26 brilliance of like any way, any which win way the win blows, it adds a weird different element to that. That just you don't get in normal golf. You just don't. And this is like the most benign wins we could possibly have and it's still playing a huge effect, which shots the models to the models have nailed nailed the change of direction today i mean they were all over that tron can't or all over for us but i mean it's the models well i mean yeah it's a we appreciate you you bringing that intel but one thing i want to say one more thing about came young
Starting point is 00:49:58 is for a guy that that plays it exciting type of golf in the in the way that he you know he hits the ball long way and he makes, he seems to make big puts. He's in enigma off the course. I mean, he's just really, really, really dry, which is an interesting juxtaposition. I'm like, man, like, you got to be excited. He's just got, he seems like he's got that mindset where he can handle the pressure cooker,
Starting point is 00:50:22 which I appreciate. And it's, I find that very interesting. And we do have a guest in the green room, but I do want to get to before we get there. As far as through 36 holes, how do you assess this tournament so far from a kind of historical context or just looking ahead, like what are you envision for the weekend? Who's the legacy on the line? What are the big things?
Starting point is 00:51:57 Yeah, so what you guys were talking about before, it is a front runners golf course for sure. Since World War II, so modern golf, there have been 15 opens at St. Andrews. Nobody's come from more than three strokes back after 36 holes in any of the 15 except Jack Nicholas in 1978 was four strokes back. So other than that, I'm bringing you got to be you got to be be a new leader at 36. Yes, I don't know. Anybody can get a seven or eight back, especially the wind forecast, your models, uh, Tron was we know they're always correct. So, uh, um, if, if, if it's what they say, it is, and there's not that much wind, I just don't see somebody coming from seven back,
Starting point is 00:52:36 especially with the names at the top. And talking about the names at the top, I mean, who do you think of the guys in the top five? We'll cut it off at Dustin. A really top top eight because Adam Scott, I think this would probably be talking about legacy and stuff like that. I mean, Adam Scott, this feels like it's probably the most important for him from a legacy perspective. It would totally change the. I think so. I mean, it's the biggest opportunity. You know, if he wins, now he's got more, he's got more majors than any other Aussie, except for Peter Thompson. He's tied with the shark, but he's
Starting point is 00:53:12 got the first green jacket for an Australian. So that's kind of the tiebreaker. He gets ahead of that whole group of IBF and Jason Day and everybody like that. And I think for what he would mean to that country, you know, what another one would mean. I think, and also what happened the last time, you know, he had legit shot coming down the stretch
Starting point is 00:53:31 against Ernie. I think he's got, you know, and he's kind of, you know, I always think the drama is there when you, you kind of feel like it's gonna be their last shot, you know, and they kind of know it's gonna be their last shot too. So I think, you know, who's probably got the most on the line and knows it is going to be, um, Scott. And then Dustin, right? I mean, that's a free catch leader board. Everybody forgets. DJ
Starting point is 00:53:52 had to lead the last time the open was insane Andrews in 2015. DJ had to lead after 36 holes. Um, he, he shot like 67 67. I think he was 10 under after 36 holes. His, his third and fourth rounds were the highest of anybody who made the cut on the weekend. He shot the highest score. He shot like 75 75. It was like 67 67 75 75. He went from, he went from a beaten, I think he was leading Danny Willett and, uh, and ZJ after 36 holes and the guy ends up like tied for 48th place or something like that. So I don't know Justin Johnson remembers that, but or if that like bothers him at all, but man, I would think, you know, I can care at all about your legacy. Let me testify. He does, he doesn't, we don't care. That's the, that's the DJ attitude.
Starting point is 00:54:42 When we add him on the pod, like several years ago, it's like, all right, so like which of your major like heart breaks like hurts the most yeah He was just like just golf man And like in most people I'd be like do that. You're bullshitting me But it was the look in his eye. I was just very much like do this. This should does not phase me in any way So yeah another guy who to where you know age wise and Guys are starting to catch up to them the distance and everything and you know How many more chances are you gonna get you know, age wise and guys are starting to catch up to them in the distance and everything. And, you know, how many more chances are you going to get, you know, again, and that's not the other DJ as much as most guys, but, but how many more go around you going to get, you know, nobody thinks it's their last shot, you know, as it's happening.
Starting point is 00:55:17 They always think there's going to be more opportunities and when it's over, it's over. And I'll say that's not like the DJ is dumb take. That's just like DJ processing things a little differently. It's like DJ is only a higher plan of existence. Yeah. Randy, where are you saying? No, I'm surprised Rory wouldn't be up there. I mean, I know we talk about him a lot and he gets a lot of oxygen,
Starting point is 00:55:38 but that jump from four majors to five is pretty significant. And he's on a big drought. Yeah, I think 12 of what we call modern players, he's like T20 for most majors ever, I think. But eight of them are guys who are in the 1800s and stuff. So I think he's like 12th and a win would get him to knock him through for guys off the list. And he'd take one step closer to the fowl those
Starting point is 00:56:04 and the ballastero and guys like that. So I'm sure that would mean a lot to him as well. I think Rory's pretty, I think his legacies, I think he's gonna try to win it for him, not because he thinks he got some improvement but he also I think he wants to do it. And it's gonna have a great chance, that's for sure. Wolfie, what's been your biggest takeaway
Starting point is 00:56:24 as far as the setup of the course this week? Just kind of pin placements, firmness, all that. I heard you talking about 11, I hate 11. I mean, that is maybe the part three in the world going back to longest. They'd extended the left hand side of the green, but when they do that, what made 11 so great was there was just no bailout. If you came out short, you're going to roll back into one of those bunkers, like Bobby Jones did, and if you go above that whole location, it's, you know, you go, God forbid, you go over the back of that green, it's death.
Starting point is 00:57:02 And by adding that area on the left, now they've kind of made it safe to play to the middle degree. And it almost kind of creates a little backstop. And so I kind of, I don't love that. It's the shortest hole in the course. And I just think, part of what made it so damn terrifying was that there was, it had to be perfect. And it was also one where, you had to have the trajectory. You had to have the distance and was also one where like, you know, you had to have the trajectory,
Starting point is 00:57:25 you had to have the distance and the trajectory and the spin. You know, and we don't get that Thursday through Sunday on the PGA Tour, right? It's, you only get that in major championship golf and it doesn't happen very often. And I just love whether it's, you know, the 11th hole at Chinatown or the, you know, or at St. Andrews or wherever, when you get a little one like that, that there's just so much that goes into 120 yard golf shot and you got to be able to do all of it. And it's something they don't practice. And so that pin on 11 to me was kind of a cop out a little bit. But I wonder if because of the three sums and the issues that they're
Starting point is 00:57:58 having in the loop, if they were like, I mean, if you look back at all the pins, they've put it, you know, on nine, they've been, I mean, nine was tucked on the left, but 10, you know, it's been pretty benign, 11, 8, pretty benign. I'm wondering if they're kind of like, all right, let us get through three sums because we know Sunday they're going to put it right behind the Strath bunker on 11. And I imagine it'll be, it'll be fairly difficult tomorrow on 11 as well on Saturday. Yeah. Looking forward to that one.
Starting point is 00:58:23 Well, I got a question for you. A very total story after Zander's bunker shot on 16 today about the Deacon, is it the Deacon sign bunker? The young slime life. It's named after Deacon who was at St. Andrews who wanted his ashes spread in that bunker so he could continue to spend eternity in it, which I thought was an epic story.
Starting point is 00:58:46 First thing, this is not the question. That's a new life goal for me. I would like to have a bunker named after me before I die. I'm curious, as the resident historian, do you have a favorite bunker or a favorite bunker story at St. Andrews? Or name? Or name? Well, Bobby Jones, bunker.
Starting point is 00:59:02 I think for American, I mean, I think that's pretty awesome. Sure. But, you know, when you're in there and you think, man, this guy, I think that's pretty awesome. When you're in there and you think, man, this guy went on to the greatest thing in the world, especially if you can get one out, you know, if you can hit one out. I don't love the current version of the road hole bunker. You know, it's like every time you watch, you know, they in the lead up, they had the 84 on and they had the 90 on and they showed Tiger winning in 2005. It's like every time it's a little bit different angle and a little bit different height of the lip and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:59:28 So, well they built up that berm, right? Like they built up that berm kind of a round. Yeah, but it's, but it looks to me at least, I have not been to St Andrews since coronavirus, but it looks to me like there's a little bit more of an angle to it too.
Starting point is 00:59:40 And for people that have not had to play a lot of shots out of bunkers, riveted bunkers, even if the face of it is only like at a 10% you know, or whatever, an 80% tilt instead of a 90% tilt, it makes an enormous difference. And there were multiple guys today that like caught a little bit of the face, but the ball kind of kept climbing up and got over versus, you know, I kind of like when it, if it catches the bunker, it goes right back over your head, at least for these guys. But again, that's just picking it, picking it things. I thought, of course, look really good. I thought it played really good. I thought,
Starting point is 01:00:16 for no wind, there's not much else they can do. And I'm kind of glad they're not trying. 17T's getting a little bit ridiculous, but that's fine. You know, I'd rather see it like this and I think it'd help up just fine. I think it's testing who the better players are and the guys that came in off of form, Bryson or Brooks or whoever,
Starting point is 01:00:37 that you know, we didn't, you know, you didn't necessarily think we're gonna do very well, didn't. And yeah, I thought it was, I thought overall it was pretty good. I didn't see a ton of lucky breaks today. Somebody early, I'm trying to remember who, somebody early stopped on the little strip of grass right behind 17.
Starting point is 01:00:56 It didn't roll onto the road. It stopped on the grass. Was it huge? It might have been huge. I think it was huge. He stopped on the tape. On the tape. Just that little strip. He tweeted something earlier this week about some family that had a block of tea times. Can you tell that stuff?
Starting point is 01:01:18 So people run to the impression, and that's fine. There's a difference between the fact that it was a public course, right? And these were public lands, but the property was actually owned by somebody. So it was owned by this family, the cheap family, CHEP and they are old, they are old St. Andrew's family. I mean, there's families that go back, obviously centuries in St. Andrew's
Starting point is 01:01:42 and they tend to, and they're still around, and they tend to keep things close to the best. But the cheap family, they owned the Stratheum estate, which was a, you know, big estate kind of outback where the driving range is now in St. Andrews, the Linkstress driving range, and they kept doing these leases, but they wouldn't actually sell the land, and they were always long time members of the RNA. And I think one of them, I think, was the longest member. He was a member of the RNA for like 75 years. He got in when he was a teenager and he died when he was 90 years old.
Starting point is 01:02:16 But they retained the rights to this property. And it was on lease. And as part of their rights, they had the right to six T times a day on demand throughout the year. So including the days the open championship was being held. So in theory, if the chiefs were not getting along with the town folks or we're not getting along with the RNA, they could have strolled out there and teed it up right in the middle of the British Open. Game number 23. They had it all the way until 1992.
Starting point is 01:02:50 It's not like this is some story from 1885. This went on until 1992, until finally, I think it just made them nervous if there was some kind of tragedy or something happened and somebody had bought the estate, the Stratian estate. So yeah, they had the right to, they have the right, they had the right to T-time, 60 times a day, six fours and a day, and then they also had the
Starting point is 01:03:11 right to mine seashells, like go out on the middle of the course and dig, dig up seashells if they wanted to, which I guess you used to like for building walls and for building like sidewalks and stuff, but they could have gone out there with a spade and yeah, dug a hole if they wanted to, well, things were in the middle of the proceedings. So that went in a way in 1992, but I think it's awesome. I love all the little things that went on like that and the centuries, how they're always handed down.
Starting point is 01:03:38 So good stuff. Last question for you. There was a, the old course hotel, still one of the uglier buildings in the world. Don't antagonize me, Mr. Carter. Do not antagonize me. But it used to be far, far, far uglier. Correct?
Starting point is 01:03:54 Far uglier, do we have a picture? I think we've got to make it better. There it is. Oh my God. That's what it used to look like. And you were saying that it used to be a pool back there? There was a pool behind it. Roughly behind where the jigger in is,
Starting point is 01:04:09 the jigger in, I guess, was like the station master for the train station. But after the hotel company, that was like their first attempt at it. In 1968, they built that. And there was a pool behind that hotel. And it was like an open air pool. So number one, who builds a pool in San Andrews, Scotland? And number was like an open air pool. So number one, who builds a pool in St. Andrews, Scotland?
Starting point is 01:04:27 And number two makes an open air, and like aren't there golf balls like flying in the pool all the time and everything? So there's still a pool back there, but now obviously it's enclosed and sheltered from view. But yeah, you could have 1968, you could have done a little sunbathe. And Max could have done a little sunbathe
Starting point is 01:04:42 and during the, when he was calling into the show I'm unbelievable the architecture of that. It's simultaneously looks like a motel slash Soviet slash something you find Internoble some bop some ball-hoffs Somebody on Twitter was saying that that was like something you'd see in Cairo or I think I think I think Cody was saying that It was like something you'd see in Cairo by the pyramids It was a fad. I mean car Carnusti, Carnusti had a pro shop that was pretty darn bad. Westlinks still has theirs. Yes, that's one of the words.
Starting point is 01:05:13 Oh, God, that's a ridiculously bad company. I don't know the same guy building all these things or what, but yeah, quite a... Come on, distraught. Put that one out there. So not my favorite. And I don't like the whole. I don't like the whole either.

Your tournaments when there's, and when you've got shot tracer and all that, and it's great, you know, if you've got friends and you're just playing socially, but if you're actually playing a game of golf, like if you're playing a match against somebody or whatever, it's a blind out of bounds. So you don't know until you get up there, if the ball's, so it's almost like every single guy that's playing
Starting point is 01:05:49 has to hit multiple provisionals if it's going to be close because you know, you have a sense of it. It's a decent argument without a caddy for pace of play on a public course. I get what he's saying. The locals like us that play matches there don't, you don't take out his youth carry him back. And we had a professional, if you had one right,
Starting point is 01:06:10 hit a professional, that's what the rules are for. Yeah, I'm all right with the road. I know, but every single person has to hit a provisional every time. It's like you have to hit coolest action in the world. Not bad thing. No, no, no, I would say this though,
Starting point is 01:06:21 I feel so differently about 17 after being there, after playing it, like seeing it in person made me understand it a lot more. Like on TV, it was always like, I don't get the big deal. Like that hotel's ugly, you gotta hit over a building, that's stupid. And now I feel different. It's like you're a local.
Starting point is 01:06:37 Yeah. I'm sorry, it's crazy for the tourists and it's great for professionals when there's spotters out there. But if you're a local and you're just carrying your own bag, it's a pain in the neck. Wolfie go get out. Go play crystal down.

Like, then I've had some rounds where I've got it going and it's like, oh, fuck, do not hit it right. And it is the greatest hole in the world. It's perfect. I just told, like, you know when you're flirting without a bounce and you know when like,
Starting point is 01:07:22 you go over to the hotel and you're clearly in bounce, you know when like you go over my catty did and you're clearly in bounds Yeah, you know, that's a bad take. Yeah, well, but I would say that I think the the the Brilliant to the roadhole is more on the approach than it is on the blind shot Like I think you could still have the but you have to take on the right to be able to have a That's what makes it amazing is just like it's just a hole It's just you can't it's such a hard green to hold. You really do improve your chances by improving the angle. It's the sight of the greatest shot I've ever hit.
Starting point is 01:07:52 All right, so one thing, I think we buried the lead and I wanna, I wanna get to Rory, but I just wanna, I just wanna acknowledge that Chez, Chez is leading the barracuda. Starting point is 01:11:02 he's not capitalizing on everything. I don't know, it feels like his game's just like a long-term, passive investment strategy. He's going for compound interest, he's not getting caught up in Sally's Bitcoin. Leave Bitcoin out. There's no crypto Bitcoin out of this. He's gonna miss out on some pops in the market,
Starting point is 01:11:21 but he's tracking right now. He's tracking, and sometimes the market's gonna dip. And you know what, over time though, it's gonna come back. And I feel like over 72 holes, I feel really good about Randy or where Rory's sitting. Rory's like a Vanguard 25. That's exactly what he's like right now. And I think that if you told me that he's gonna be two,
Starting point is 01:11:38 what, three back and shoot 68 today, I take that, going into the weekend. Sign me up for that shit. I just wanna clarify this yet again. I would venture to say that I would challenge almost anyone except for Porter that as far as investing the amount of emotional energy in one single person. I've put it, I've put in a lot.

He's not trying, he know, he's not playing defense. He's not guarding against anything. Even when he's laying back a little bit, he's still swinging aggressively. Like I'm, again, I'm rooting for him like crazy. I just
Starting point is 01:13:55 hope Cam wins. If I'm also looking at it, I don't know the fence. T.C. I don't think I definitely. What is that? What is that? Those two things don't thank you Randy if cam doesn't win. I want roe to win Okay, okay How hard is that to understand, but you can't say I'm room for room for you I yeah, I don't know if like I don't know if that works in this situation as I mean you got to kind of pick a pick one here I mean, they're not like mutually exclude like I want Rory to play well. I don't, I don't want wanna just hold Rory to the stand to the like, he always disappoints when like, he's beating, beating the guys that are above it.
Starting point is 01:14:51 Rory is hell doing a different standard because he's fucking Rory, man, he's one four majors. Like, like, that's the deal. You started the show off by saying that Cam Smith is significantly better at golf than Henry. He is. I so, but clearly then you're saying two things then. No, I'm saying golf.
Starting point is 01:15:04 It just doesn't beat him in golf tournaments. No golf, not like driving the ball really far or having massive swing speed, track man shit. I'm talking about golf. He's not better getting in the ball in the whole than rural, by any measurement. Last thing I'll say is back to what Wolfie was saying about legacy, I think that this has,
Starting point is 01:15:20 and Randy, you brought it up. There's something about Rory winning at the old course and the legacy of that and all the dogs. That feels too good to be true to me. That's the only thing. Yeah, but that feels like, man, I'm rooting for that too. Like that feels like the storyline that I want. Even though I do like Cam Smith and I, you know,
Starting point is 01:15:41 another tournament, it just feels like this is the spot where I want Rory to elevate and put this on his resume. That's a lifetime achievement. I want to see him in the highlights, five years from now, 10 years from now, the savvy highlight that we keep seeing, the daily highlights, like all that stuff.
Starting point is 01:15:56 It's just like, we're going to see it every five years. I want that to be Rory when I look back. I'm glad to see you, Hoveland, playing well. A spinnier ball, like trying to fly to ball through the wind and figure out, because the ball spins more off of this turf, too, because it's so like, like, like watching the guys play those little 30 yard or 20 yard pitches off of those super bear lies, like that keeps me up at night.
