Yes!
Johnny, that's better than most.
How about him?
That is better than most.
Better than most!
Expect anything different. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the No Laying Up podcast, the No Laying Up live
show.
My name is DJ the crack of that high noon you heard down below me there is big Randy.
Randy greetings.
How are you my man?
I'm excellent.
I'm excellent.
Um, fun.
Well, we'll get into if it was a fun day golf, but uh, it was interesting and I'm glad to
be here.
Thank you.
I know I had a fun day of golf.
Uh, big Sally, Sally, how are you my man?
Oh man, I don't know how it was on TV. That was one of the finer sporting days I've had in terms of weather, scenery, just general vibe out there.
Being able to put my phone away and walk around and watch golf at Augusta National on a Saturday with just action kind of going on all over the place. Got first time experiencing like the roar there.
What does that mean? All that's going up on the leaderboard. It just it was the fastest eight hours
I've ever probably ever experienced in my entire life.
It would have gone even faster had you been able to crack a cold high noon out there.
We are brought to you tonight as we always are by high noon regular size cans.

Noon, Solly, sun's up. The sun was up out at Augusta National. The course was firm. The
wind was still sneaky up. And golf's rightful king has reclaimed his throne atop the leaderboard
at the Masters. Solly, what did you see from Scottie Scheffler out there today?
A little mixed bag of pretty much everything.
He had some huge moments, chips in on the first hole, looked like it was going to just
kind of be his day.
It was things were happening and then all of a sudden things were happening very quickly.
He made a very quick double bogey on the 10th hole.
He comes out and bogeys the 12th hole, I believe it,
if I have that right.
Again, things are moving very quickly for me as well.
And then, no, sorry, bogey 11, bogey 11.
And then I caught up with him into 13.
And man, it was really interesting to stand there
and watch Scottie and Nikolai Hoygard
hit that shot into 13.
We've seen the people that have been masters of that shot, and we've seen the Brant Snedekers that have failed at that shot into 13. We've seen the people that have been masters of that shot,
and we've seen the Brant Snedekers
that have failed at that shot.
And Scottie hit it into the right spot, below the pin,
rolls in an eagle, had to be the biggest roar of the day.
And Nikolai Hoygard began his,
or kind of continued his downfall right there
and just did not have that shot in the bag.
That was kind of the story of the day for me,
what Scottie was able to salvage out of.
He got it to 800 par after an incredible up and down
on the third hole and then went backwards,
gave back four shots after that.
It looked like, oh shit, is Scottie gonna waste
this opportunity?
Sure enough, he's the 54 hole leader.
Radie, a lot of questions for you today, my man.
I wanna get to, it's almost like that
Nancy Pelosi stock tracker. You know,
I want to ask you about some stock that you sold off earlier this week. It seems to have come back
to bite you firmly in the ass with columnar calla. But before we get there, Randy, was that, did,
did Scotty weather the storm? Was that the bad round? Is this thing over? Where, where are we at?
I, it feels like it doesn't it man. It feels like today was like his, his kind of just eh round.
I know he shot a higher score yesterday,
but considering the conditions just felt like today was,
I don't know, C, C plus effort from them.
And that birdie at 18, it certainly feels like he,
he is now solidly in control. But I don't know, let me ask you DJ,
are we short-shrifting Colin Morikawa? I mean I know we can go into the jokes, but legitimately
this is a two-time major winner. I know he hasn't been in the greatest of forms, certainly nothing
compared to Scottie, but it just feels like, oh god, he's been under par every day.
I think we're in for more of a shootout tomorrow than perhaps people are thinking.
I hope so, right?
Nobody wants... I do... A lot of ways we can go here, right?
I'm rooting for Scotty in a sense, right?
I will say upfront front rooting for Max.
We'll get to him in a minute, but Scotty winning,
adding to his legacy, adding to this amazing golf
that he's playing.
I think that's almost kind of the best,
like the most convenient narrative for golf
is for Scotty to get another major.
But I hope it's not, you know, a walk in the park tomorrow.
I hope everybody's pushing them.
And Colin, I mean, I don't know, man,
that looks like as much as I'd want to say,
maybe that was Scottie's bad round today that that kind of looked like Scott,
like Colin's foot to the floor round today. Now,
I know all those pots kind of ended up in the middle of the bottom,
but he's kind of low sneaking a lot of those in.
I don't really trust his putting stroke. Once we get down the stretch,
I'm sure he's going to hit it nice, but I would have to imagine he regresses more
tomorrow than he does put his foot on the gas.
Soly, what do you think?
I wish I'd seen more Colin today.
I kind of bounced around between most of the last two groups and
caught as much as I could of the third group ahead that Colin was in.
When I did see him, it was a little shaky.
I saw him having to catch his
only bogey of the day on the sixth hole, the cooler got him as he missed a short putt that he was really
uncomfortable with. It was a left to right breaker and he just could not get comfortable over it and missed it on
the low side. And then he had an awesome shot into 15. I mean, again, just a little bit more appreciation for that
shot, watching it in person, watching some guys really mess that one up very badly yesterday. That really
thin section of the left green off the down slope, guys making a mess all over the place.
He was playing with Cam Davis, if I remember right, who had hit one into the water already
with his second shot and he hit the perfect shot right behind the hole. But again, just
like didn't look very comfortable in the putt and missed a short birdie opportunity that was just
like, man, we've, we've seen a little too much of that out of Morikawa.
He has had a really good putting week.
He's seventh in the entire field in a strokes game putting.
Um, so are we, am I kind of on looking at that?
Am I thinking, are we going to likely see some regression tomorrow?
Yes.
But man, the guy has peaked.
He has done the peak weeks.
He has put two of these away.
He has just buried everyone on two different Sundays.
So I don't know.
I feel weird saying that I would expect him to regress
just considering how we've seen him shut the door.
And honestly, earning Randy's fandom is hard to do.
And that's what makes me put Colin,
it would have made me put Colin in like a different class
if Randy didn't abandon him just two days ago.
Well, listen, let me address that.
Let me address that.
It's always, it sucks when you sell at the absolute bottom.
Soly, you wouldn't know about that with your diamond hands,
but I sold after Thursday.
I was sick of like sticking my neck out there for Colin
and him not doing anything to reciprocate the,
you know, the effort.
And boy, he turned it around.
I was feeling really bad about the decision
until I found out, Sully,
he told me he was at one of the pre-parties this week.
He was walking around a little dog of his and the dog had shoes on. So then I was like, Oh yeah, no, we're, let's
we're divesting. That's, that's fine. We're not looking to repurchase any stock. But I'm
calling, you know, it's, it's funny because he's, he's, he's had two top 10 finishes at
Augusta the last two years. And I'll note he shot a fourth round 67 two years ago in 2022.
Last year he shot 72.
So it's one of those things where it's like, I certainly don't think the
moment's going to be too big for him.
It looks like he's hitting his irons.
Really, really well right now.
I agree.
The putter just kind of looks a little, he,
honestly, he looks a lot like, he and I look like a lot, uh, similar putters
right now. We, we look very similar in the way we, we attacked the, the
putting stroke, but I don't know. It just, I will say this DJ, if there's a world
in which Colin wins tomorrow and he gets that third major, uh, having one, this would be three different ones, right?
Three-fourths of the way to the career grand slam.
Potentially third leg Colin.
Yeah, I mean, it opens up a fascinating discussion about his place in the larger golf ecosystem. I know I'm getting
to my head ahead of myself with that. But I do just, I guess where I'm sitting is,
I think he's gonna be a factor tomorrow.
I don't know why.
He's the only guy to be under par all three days this week.
There's just something going on there, I feel like.
It'd be stunning if he had three majors tomorrow
and Scottie had one.
Like Scottie's clearly a better golfer.
And, but I mean, honestly, what resonates a lot with people
is winning the championships, right?
That's what separates, he's got that dog in him.
I mean, let's just put it this way.
It's a little dog though, like very small dog.
With shoes on.
With shoes on.
And honestly, it's way too good of a metaphor.
Because that's kind of how I feel when I watch him play.
Technically, yeah, he is a dog.
It's just not the kind of dog I want to have.
Well, it's wild to walk into the media center after just being out there all day.
And like, it's kind of a scattered leaderboard.
They have the running scores.
And like, you don't ever get to see all the names in order.
You have to like manually do it with your head, like, oh, these two are at this.
And you walk in and you just see Scheffler, Murakawa, Homa, Ludwig, Bryson, like the top
five in the bottom corner.
Like, holy shit, this is incredible leaderboard.
The energy matched that out there
and dude, Scotty, Morikawa, final round tomorrow.
I did not have Morikawa in this final group
when we started this week.
We barely even talked about him going into the week,
but it is good to have that dude back
and again, if we're looking for guys
that are trying to get into different classes
of separating themselves from kind of this parody era in parody era in majors. He is a leading candidate. I think that's what's so interesting about
tomorrow. I'm totally with you in that. Colin, it feels consequential tomorrow for either
of those guys, which is all you're asking for. I think what's so cool about someone like
Colin is it'd be a lot easier for us in the fake news media to get really hyped if we
had like seen him doing this kind of all day every day for the
last three years, like we have with Scotty, it's just you don't
quite know what to expect, man. I don't know the last time we
really like saw him under the gun. I know he played well at
century, but I don't know if he was ever really like a threat to
win that thing. You know, I still have like all the way back to
him kind of spitting the bit with the with the short game chef at the century last year, but
I know he won in the fall. So I mean it's not that far off, but it's been just very in and out and
In a day like tomorrow, I mean everybody goes back to it
but the the Scotty thing about like freaking out about what it's gonna feel like and having no
idea maybe more cow has, you know, maybe he can wake up in
the morning and say, I've already got two of these things
and I'm not gonna have those feelings and I'm gonna stick to
my game plan and one shot at a time, yada, yada, yada. It's
also been a while, man. It's been a while and Collins been
through a couple things. He's been through some kind of like
some, you know, some downs. He's been through some kind of like some, you know, some downs.
He's been through some stretches
that have been not impressive.
And you know, he's got self doubt
and he's got all the demons like anybody else does.
And I think that just makes it really, really compelling.
And I think it makes it really hard for him
to just go out and step on the gas
and go toe to toe with the guy
that hasn't missed a shot for three years.
Is that done 10 today.
God, what a dunk that was.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't know.
That was tough.
That was tough.
Soly, what was it?
It's out there though.
Like that's the thing, man.
It is really out there.
It is so fucking hard.
It really is.
I mean, just the added length on two
changes how that hole plays.
I mean, pretty much every hole
except the really short holes have been
lengthened over time and it just, it's still blue.
Like the wind still blew decently hard today.
It really got really calm down at the bottom of A-Minute corner, but, uh, it
just still looks really, really hard.
The greens are so glassy.
Watching Bryson, he missed right with a wedge on the ninth green and he was just,
you know, a few feet off the green on the fringe. He had to play his putt
25 feet right of the hole and get the speed right to kind of have it whip in just because if you went straight at it
the green was just too glassy. It's there on every single hole.
So, I don't know, Scotty going double bogey on 10-11 wasn't the most shocking thing because it's just waiting for you.
I was texting a buddy earlier about he know he was kind of talking about like
casual fans tuning in today and he's like I wonder if you know people are
people are gonna be turned off by the lack of birdies right and like this
isn't really the normal Masters you see where birdies and Eagles are flying
around from everywhere and you know but like to golf sickos I think it's like
more interesting and exactly what you were just saying is like how I would sum
it up in that I don't know the last time I've seen the best
players in the world look this like scared and tentative over
so many putts over so many approach shots missing on the
right side of the hole, etc.
But it's almost like once you get on the green, that's truly
like half the battle with a lot of this stuff.
And I'm thinking about like Bryson's Bryson's lag putt on 16
I mean Bryson like we kind of called that out last night, but like just looked like he had no touch
All day and like going into some of those short putts down the hill yesterday
Like he was just terrified that carried over to today
It's just it's a full 360 degree challenge out there which like again sink in you know
Fill that fill your journal up with this one big guy.
We don't get these tournaments every year. This is about as good as it gets.
And that's why, it hasn't been the most exciting action, but it's been the most fun to watch.
Like for a golf sicko, it is just the best test of golf. One of the best tests of golf. Maybe
probably the best I've ever seen in person. And just these shelves are so small, like that back left section of the sixth green, hitting from way up above, like the shot that Bryson hit into
the back part of that green, the shot that Scottie hit in the back part of that green. It's so friggin impressive,
man. And like you're watching guys struggle with wedges, like even pitches from 60 yards on the 13th green, get it
onto the right part of the green. A lot of people struggling with the shot into 15, you just don't see the pros struggle with
that distance of shot ever anywhere except for Augusto.
Well, speaking of lack of birdies, Randy, what did you think of the pros performance
today?
Max had a one over, I'm sorry, 73.
He is five under, he's two back.
He's going to be playing in the second to last group with Ludwig Aubert tomorrow
What what did you think of the pros birdie free round today? I?
Thought listen I think I think there are good things and bad things right I?
Thought good. I thought he was fighting it early and and just kept putting pars on the board which was great to see I
Don't I don't love the, the layup strategy necessarily on the par fives. It just seems like the wedges aren't super dialed.
I did like the wedge he hit into 15 and couldn't make the putt.
Um, I listen, if had you told me before the day started, Max isn't going to make
a birdie, I'd expect him to have shot 75 76 and and probably be out of it. So he he hung in there
I think that's a positive I think you know if we're talking about bad rounds and getting them out of the way
I certainly think hopefully this will qualify as max's bad round. Hopefully saving those birdies for tomorrow
Hopefully this will qualify as Max's bad round. Hopefully he's saving those birdies for tomorrow.
But I do think, you know, listen,
I'm gonna flip-flop a little.
He obviously has a plan on the par fives
and he's sticking to it.
So I like that, you know, going back to his journaling
and being who he is and staying within himself,
he is doing that.
And he made a couple very good par putts.
The one on 18 obviously was huge. He's there now. It's,
it's tough because he's two shots back as Scotty.
It's just a big ask to make that up for Max tomorrow.
I think he's going to have to really conjure maybe the best golf of his life to
win this thing.
So I don't know. I think it's like it's a classic.
How do you want to look at it?
Glass half full glass half empty.
And I'll pose that question to you.
What's like, what's your large takeaway?
Good day, bad day, you know, are we feeling okay?
I, I don't think there's a word out of place there.
Big.
I think I'd co-sign all that.
I feel, I feel okay.
I really feel okay that we walked away with a par on 18.
I think that was probably the worst shot of the day,
was taking on that pin and pushing that one
into the bone zone in that right bunker
and somehow getting that one up and down.
I mean, you could see what that meant to him
and the fist pump and the shorthand shake
and the kind of like Joe gassing him up.
And I think he might've been able to like just two hand dunk of basketball right
after that is kind of, is kind of what it looked like. Uh, but before that,
I mean, I was like, yeah, you want to get the par fives.
You want to stuff it a little closer on 13.
You don't want to drive it out of play on eight and have to have to lay up there
in a, in a bad way. But other than that, it was like it was a lot of like I was saying in slack. It was a
lot of like less than 5050 putts. You know, it's not like he was
missing a bunch of like 678 footers. He just like he didn't
really make any like 15 footers. He didn't make any 20 footers and
it's like Ferrari. We would get on him for that and like, oh man,
you're stuck in neutral and you just gotta make those and blah,
blah, blah. But like for a guy that's literally never been in this situation, playing in the final group of a major on
Saturday, I actually thought he played really well. I was proud
of how he fucking battled strapped in. He clearly was like,
was very nervous. First, the first couple holes. Yeah,
clearly. Yeah. I don't know that the Bryson thing was the most
comfy pairing in the world. Sorry, I don't know if you had
any takeaways out there from that.
Well, I in my big J journalist journal here,
while I was riding out there,
the thing I noted about Max's round
and the difference between watching him versus Scotty
was like Max seemed to be in the wrong position on the greens.
He had so many downhill left to riders.
It just putts that were like,
dude, this is not the look you should be having.
And Scotty seemed to be in better spots
to be able to hit the uphill putt with that mallet and it just like it was gonna go in and
I don't know and I don't know if I'm like, I don't know if it's fair to call like his strategy on the par-5
It's like a layup strategy. I could be wrong. I couldn't tell what he hit off 13 that he hit driver
I would assume he hit driver off 13, but he had 250 plus. I think it threw it on 13
Okay
Well that may be wrong.
That I may be wrong in saying that I don't know if it's a design lab,
but he had 250 plus going into that hole.
Like they have with a West wind and the restored the new T on 13,
like 13 is now like a,
do you have this shot or do you not?
And we saw Hoygar go in the junk and he talked about this on the Twitter spaces
actually of like, hey, if it's not the right club,
the right lie and the right shot shape. I'm going
to lay up on 13. I was surprised he laid back as far as he did. But, and then 15 was 250 plus or 260, I think he
had had in for the top of that hill. Man, Scottie could not hold that with, you know, with an iron. And so I don't
know if he had any shot of holding that green with a with a three wood of any kind. And it just had made up his mind
like it was going to, he was going to lay up on it. And it just, made up his mind, like it was gonna, he was gonna lay up on it.
And it just, again, watching shots come into that green,
I don't disagree with it.
They have restored and retained,
like the firmness has changed 15.
Firmness in west wing in that hole,
into that hole has changed it.
We've watched guys hit five and six irons
into that greens in recent years,
and that's not there right now.
And 13 with the different tee,
also with a west wind when you get around that corner, going back into it. It's a different golf shot and we saw Scotty miss it yesterday.
And it's sick. And I hate to say it's I've had that all the whole this whole week. I'm like, I hate I hate that they had to move it back. I hate that they had to change it. But like, damn, this is this is pretty good. I gotta- Guys, some soft parenting going on right now
from you guys on John Maxwell.
I think this is perfect.
If you're gonna have a nervy round,
you knew this was gonna happen eventually,
but this is perfect.
Max loves being the dogging coming from behind.
He's never really been in the position
where he's like the show pony out front.
He wants an alpha to chase down,
and he is in that position now.
You can go back. At Farmers, he did that,. Now you can go back at farmers. He did that chasing down Keegan at Fortinet.
He did that, had to chip in when he was already defending the tournament.
All right. The only thing that he was really like a show pony on was the net
bank last year when he ran away from everybody. I love it.
I love the position that Max coming in.
I think it's, I would co-sign all that if,
if maybe the guy in front of him was not
You know Secretariat like I think that that makes it a little tougher
But I do think there's a lot of I think there's a lot of interesting stuff
You're saying there coach, you know, you know what Secretariat the issue there
Is that Scotty still has this little gremlin on his shoulder with with putting and it hasn't really flared up yet this week
But it's eventually gonna't really flared up yet this week, but it's eventually going to come.
It flared up.
Now there were little tiny solar flares of it today.
Kind of tiny.
Some of those pots on 10 and there
were some interesting stuff there.
All right.
Hey, I know this is solid was pitching fine.
So I was really working counts.
He was getting ahead of hitters.
He's doing a good job.
But we have we've been doing something a little different.
I think Randy, it's a long series for game series this week. I think we're doing a bit of a bullpen game
today. So we've got a fresh arm in the pen who is going to be coming in. He's, you know, manager
just came out to talk to Sally. So we're doing a quick pitching change while we do. Randy, can I
shout out Omni Hotels for you for just a second. Omni Hotels continues to take their golf to another level.

Omni golf. Play the possibilities, Randy. So many possibilities.
So many. And now let me just say this. When we came up with this whole bit about bringing in guys from the bullpen,
bringing in fresh arms, there was truly one guy that I had in mind and I
was like, I don't know if we can sign them to maybe a short term deal, maybe just a Randy,
a little like 10 game kind of kind of deal, something like that. He's, he's got a lot
of minor league options left. I know that. So that's helpful for roster flexibility.
It is of course our guy, Johnson Wagner Johnson Wagner Johnson greetings my man. How are you
doing DJ? I love y'all show so much the only it's not because
of you DJ. It's because of Sally who's sitting right here
off camera next to me. Of course. I listen to you
religiously. Y'all threw me under the bus, took some
comments way out of context. I don't know. Maybe a year a year
ago, I went on the Subpar podcast and it was like two weeks,
it was recorded two weeks earlier and y'all crushed me.
And I decided at that point that I was going to try to make y'all friends as opposed to
enemies.
And I'm telling you, this guy over here to the left, Solly, there's nobody I enjoy seeing
more at these big events than this guy right here.
So I listened to all your stuff, a huge fan. You keep me informed and all the the hot
takes in the game. I think I've poached some of your stuff
before too.
Well, likewise, my man, I shouted out, you know, all the
work being done this week by you and the crew and you guys always
do such a good job with with the live from stuff. I know you did
a little bit of that at the players. That was kind of where
some of my my pitching jokes came from. I know you were out there recreating all the biggest moments,
which I want to ask you about a little bit, but before we get there,
we should probably talk a little bit of masters. So what,
what are you up to this week? What are you working on?
And what has been your biggest takeaway so far from the week?
DJ I am burning the candle at both ends.
I'm doing the morning live from show and we have production meetings, you
know, the latest production meetings been 630 a.m. for this tomorrow will be the seventh
straight day. And then the during the tournament, I leave at noon and I go over and I do serious
xm radio call in the afternoons from two to the end of play. So I'm having some long days.
This is my first time covering the Masters as a media guy. And I have to say, like, I'm running on pure adrenaline.
My locations for radio are 413,
and then in the booth on 18,
which is a little plexiglass thing,
just left of the green 10 feet away.
And today it was me and Mike Turrico calling 18.
Once I left 13, I called the Scotty Scheffler Eagle,
which was, I'm not a radio guy.
It was the coolest thing I've ever done in my life.
I've got chills on my arms right now.
I mean, he literally does have chills on his arm right now.
It was the greatest thing.
And so my brother was here Thursday.
He kind of hung out with me with some clients and I put the extra headset on them to listen
to Mike Turrico calling the Masters and then
Yesterday I didn't really have anybody with me until the end there was a pro from Quail Hollows named Austin
He came and listened with me on 13 and then today my son and nephew were out on the headsets listening to the radio call
It's been such a special week. The Masters is incredible my takeaway. Sorry. I'm being long-winded here
Not at all. My take biggest takeaway from the week is Scotty Scheffler is such a beast as I was
waiting to come in here. He's out on the driving range right now and he's done it every single
night. Even I think it was last night that he finished so late and he was out there. I think
they turned on lights for Scotty to go out and hit balls. The guy is so regimented and his routine is
so incredible. Nobody works as hard as he does. He's not on social media so he doesn't
see all the stuff y'all dog on him about probably.
Yeah, no, we don't give him any respect. We think he could be doing way more right now.
You know, we got no interest in this. He needs to prove something tomorrow.
It's really funny. I was here. I was here two years
ago on Saturday with my son and Scotty had just gone on that
huge run. He had won. Waste Management was his first and
then he wins Bay Hill and then the match play. Oh, a couple
years ago. Yeah. Leading into the leading into the Masters
where he won and we were here Saturday. We were hanging out on
six and I was going back and forth to the concessionary to
grab a crow's nest or two about every hour,
or, well, let's be realistic, every 30 minutes.
And all the people, Scotty's name's on top of the board
Saturday, he's leading by five, and everybody's saying,
who is this Scotty Scheffler?
And I looked, I kept, every time someone said that,
I said, he's the number one player in the world,
he's won three times this year.
And now, fast forward to today,
when he came through 18,
made that birdie, the patrons were chanting, Scotty, Scotty. And it was just like another
chill moment. Like I just love where he's come in two years. And I just think we're at the beginning
with him. The guy works so hard. He doesn't read the BS that said about him. Not that there's any
BS said about him because he's amazing. And I just think we're really truly the beginning
of one of the next greats in the game.
I think Brando was saying some stuff on live
from this morning that I thought was really good
in that where maybe he feels a little different
than like just picking out of a hat,
but like Hovland goes on this incredible run last year
and we've seen kind of what it's looked like since
where he's tinkered with the swing
and changed a bunch of things and yada, yada, yada.
Brando's point I'm paraphrasing was basically like, man, look at Scotty.
He's like, he's not going to like change his body in the gym.
He's not on social media, getting a bunch of like crazy stuff in his head.
He's not changing his golf swing. He's like, he's built it around what he does best.
He already doesn't putt it that good. Like it's not like that, you know,
it's like, that's going to go. He's like, putt it that good. It's like that's gonna go.
And Brando's point was like, yeah, we've seen a lot of guys come and go and you've seen Jordan
and you've seen Brooks and you've seen Jason Day and you've seen all these different guys kind of
go on these like really hot streaks. And I think that was his point as far as
maybe why Scottie's has lasted a couple years longer than those guys.
Yeah. And I think these guys, Rory, and I love Rory and I love Spieth.
Spieth is like my favorite guy of this generation.
Justin Thomas, more call with these guys get up to two, three, four majors in the case
of McElroy, and they hit this wall.
And I think Scotty, I don't want to pontificate that he's going to win seven or eight or
nine majors.
But I think he has the capability of breaking.
There's a safe space to do that if you do want to.
I think he's got the capability of going out and doing something that these guys,
they, Brooks is amazing. He's got five. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention him.
And he also has it, but Scotty's consistency is ridiculous.
And the fact that he doesn't even have to putt well to contend in majors is
what makes him different from the rest.
Johnson, what, Deidj, if we want to stay on Scotty, we can come back, but
wherever you want to go, big dog.
Yeah.
You mentioned Colin Moore, Kawa is, I just find it fascinating that a guy
with two majors were essentially not even paying the, I won't say we're not
paying attention to, but it just seems like we all want
to ordain Scotty and we'd be shocked if Scotty didn't win tomorrow.
But more college sitting right there and he's played excellent golf all week.
What, how do you fancy more Kawa and what do you think has led to this, um,
resurgence in his iron game this week?
That's so well said. I was going to go straight to the iron game. It's been his iron game this week. That's so well said.
I was going to go straight to the iron game.
It's been down for him this year.
Uh, I mean, normally a, a top eight or 10 guy in strokes gained approach.
Uh, and he, he's found it column work.
How, what, what I find most interesting in Mike Torey, go on the radio call,
said it, and I was thinking about it earlier.
Wanted to mention it at some point this week.
If he wins tomorrow, he's going to go to Pinehurst with a chance to win the Grand Slam. I mean that's how
studly that guy is. Which by the way you think that place fits him alright?
It would be a perfect fit. Yeah. And excuse me if you all have already mentioned that,
it's just Kyle Morcau is a beast. We haven't seen him do it in a while. I
mean Rocket Mortgage last year lost in that playoff to Ricky Fowler and
arguably should have won it.
His shot into 18 was three yards too long.
It should have spun back down to a foot and it would have, you know,
it would have been over at that point because Fowler is not making that putt.
If he had to, uh, Morikawa's he's incredible.
And he really held up when everybody else was falling back today.
I mean, look at Nikolai Hoygard, birdies tend to get to seven under and then goes bogey, bogey, bogey, bogey,
looked up and saw his name and I think that's why first timers don't do well. Bryson DeChambeau,
I mean what a collapse on the back nine and without that hole out for birdie on 18 which was by the
way electric sitting right there. Mike Turico's call's call. I had to go back and list your call on that one. Oh, I didn't call. I didn't call that one. Mike Tariqo called that one.
It was amazing. What you need to listen to is my call on 13.
And you all can crush me tomorrow night on it.
It was so terrible.
You have no more.
We're the biggest Johnson fans.
Listen, one. I love that.
You know, but yeah, we've made a men's since then.
Well, it's a two way street now because I've been a fan of y'all for a long time.
Thank you. Thank you.
And if you want to go to the live from thing from the players, I'll be doing that.
We got approval this week for me doing it at the US Open.
The RNA.
Hell yeah.
The RNAs, I think, because US Open and the Open Championship are both NBC weeks.
And so I think we're really confident on those and we're working hard with the PGA and I've
got good relationships with the guys there like John Landhurt, the president. So I'm hoping that we're
gonna get the and I my goal is over the next couple years to soften up the green
jackets. So I love so much and I played twice here and I know a bunch of them.
And at some point like, you know, golf is fun and I can be extremely
respectful. I'm a respectful dude. That's the number one thing I do.
The money to get you out recreating some of the dude perfect shots. You know from
from when they were out here to go frisbee golf. Yeah, I think
that's a good voice that sign post that Bryson was carrying
around yesterday. Tell us how heavy that thing really is.
That would have been the recreation from yesterday. I
absolutely would have tried to rip that thing out of the
ground and throw it over my shoulder and I would probably
would have crushed me. By the way, can we talk about
that? Because I'm on 13 making that call. I couldn't see him
with the signpost because I'm up in these radio booths in the
grandstands which are. Where's Bryce? He's right next to the
jacket that's carrying around that side. Oh, no, wait.
He had to move 2000 people out of the way so he could hit that
shot. Don't you think? I think he wanted that moment. I think he's just that... this is a safe space?
Yeah, of course.
I think he's that egotistical that he's like, no, I'm going to move it. It's going to look really
cool on my social media when I repost this.
Totally. I think that's exactly right. One more, we'll get you out of here, but
you mentioned you're not far removed from your playing career
at all. Played at the highest level, played in major
championships. You've seen all of these guys up close. Please
feel free to tell me this is a stupid take as I unpack it here.
But watching these last couple days, that looks like the
hardest golf tournament I've ever seen in those conditions
with as firm as the golf course got with with as much
windows up there and these guys just like keep executing shots in a way that like I don't know
that I've necessarily seen in my time watching golf. I'm curious do you feel like there's been any
how has like the level of play risen dramatically since you feel like you hung it up? That's why I
hung it up. I mean first of all all, the last couple of years I played,
I was playing at a 126 to 50 category,
which one year I finished the Wyndham championship.
And I think I was really close.
And I walked in and the guy from the tour says,
I said, where am I going to finish?
And he said, you're going to finish 135.
And I was like, perfect.
He said, you've become the poster boy for 126 to 150.
And I was like, oh, thank you.
I take that as a compliment.
So I wasn't playing.
I haven't played a major since the 2013 Open Championship.
And the game has risen dramatically.
I think that the fact that the ball is going so far, it doesn't curve as much.
It really allows these guys to hit the ball hard, hit it off the center of face and not
worry about curvature too much.
But yeah, the game has risen specifically to this week I think why you see more Akawa and
Scheffler at the top of the leaderboard is because they're the best iron players
and what you have to do the most here at Augusta is be quality in the irons and
that's just been exaggerated this week especially Thursday Friday by the
blustery windy conditions last question actually question, actually. I got one more. I lied. What do you pick up from a guy like
Toreeco? Because I feel like every time I hang with play-by-play guys or something like
that, it's the perfect job that everybody's like, oh, how hard could that be? You just
kind of chat about what you're watching on the screen or you chat about what's in front of you.
Those guys are legit geniuses. I'm curious your like biggest takeaway from hanging around someone like that
has been.
Well, I've worked a lot with Steve Sands, and he's been my
host on The Morning Live from this week. He's been brilliant
to me. And then this is my first chance to work with Mike. And
yesterday after I left 13, I didn't go to 18 Tower, they
brought me into the booth, which is in the press building
downstairs. And the booth for radio is Steve Malnick and Mike
Trico.
So we finished the broadcast last night at eight or dark or whenever it was,
because those rounds were painfully slow yesterday, but because of the conditions.
It's not the players, it's the conditions other than maybe Bryson.
Um, and then, uh, Mike and I are walking out and he, you know, he's the funniest,
coolest, most down to earth guy that I've ever been around and we're walking out of he you know he's the funniest coolest most down-to-earth guy
that I've ever been around and we're walking out of the press.
Well, it's right up there too. Yeah except for Solly messed me up at the US Open
last year he pulled me off LACC because he was supposed to do the All Access
show and we're BMW partners we can't have any Lexus affiliation which by the way
could we not have figured that out like three months earlier?
I was so excited to be at LACC for the entire week.
As I digress Mike Turrico, check back behind the paywall for the rest of that story.
Mike Turrico said on the way out, he looked at me and he said, look, I'm,
I'm no radio genius. I don't do this all the time, but, and I have a tendency to talk really fast. And he said, Look, I'm no radio genius. I don't do this all the time. But then I have a tendency
to talk really fast. And he said, he said, the pause is the
greatest thing you can ever do and broadcast it. And I said,
like, I said, Mike, I said, I've been struggling with how fast I
talk. And that's the best thing. I didn't ask for it. It was but
it was so appreciated. Like Mike to. Mike can I can I cuss of course my fucking to Rico
like I pinch myself all week. I'm sitting on the 18th hole
calling fucking golf with Mike to Rico and and he had like he
liked me enough I guess or cared enough like he didn't have
he didn't have to say anything to try to make me better
because I love this job and I want to do it for a long, long time and to get advice unsolicited from a legend like Mike Turrico was of so many highlights I've had this week. I think that may be the, you know, the best thing that's happened to me.
Johnson, before you get out of here, the chat, we got a lot of people in here following this live
that there's one question they wanna know.
Is that stash all natural?
Are you putting a little performance color in there?
I hate that, that people think it out.
Look, I'm like so into it.
How dare you people?
How dare you people?
I actually got into it with Eric Van Royen
on the putting green at the Mexico Open this year
because his caddy, Austin Goggart,
was like, Eric's convinced you're coloring that thing. Look at me. I'm soft. I'm fat. I don't really
care about my appearance. I'm blessed with really dark hair. I'm part 164. I'm actually
less. I'm one 128th Chickasaw Native American and I'm a card carrying.
Oh, easy. We've heard things like that.
I'm a card. I don't have it on me, but I am a card carrying member of the Chickasaw
nation, very proud of my heritage.
And my mom has jet black hair like mine.
We both call it Brown, but people say it's black.
I have a bunch of grays over here.
My mustache, there's like four or five grays.
And about two years ago, I plucked a couple of them out and they
started growing back and I'm like, never again, I'm going to hold
on to this as long as I can.
Very painful spot to pull from there too. Yeah. Very. Yeah. Well, Johnson, thank you for for popping in my man. I
I mean it when I say is is Scott is gonna win? Barring
Merida the Scheffler going into labor overnight II think so.
It's just this golf course is is running on an edge. We
haven't had a firm fast Masters in so long and it's just this golf course is running on an edge. We haven't had a firm, fast Masters in so long.
And it's the best ball striker is going to win.
And Scottie Scheffler is bar none the best ball striker on in professional golf at the
moment.
So I do.
I think it's unfortunately, I think today was the exciting day.
I think he's going to run away with this thing.
We shall see tomorrow and people can listen to you call the action and pause your brains out tomorrow during during the final round telecast.
You can be with me all day. You can wake up with me at 9am on live from golf channel morning show and then you can listen to me all afternoon on SiriusXM.
Turn Jim Nance and Trevor Elm on. We're pretty much running on their coverage. So turn them off. Listen to me and Mike Tur Torey. It's it's it's really fun. The radio call is very
descriptive. Absolutely. I love it. Well, hey, don't burn
yourself out, man, because we love seeing you. You make me
happy every every time you're on the screen during these major
weeks. It's been it's been great. Keep it up truly. Thank
you guys. I love you guys. Listen every show. Alright,
cheers. Give that headset back to fun. It's kind of like kind
of like spring training rules, you know, or the pitcher can
come back in and we're going bring you know, he's yeah
He needed to get out of that inning, but we could we could bring it back in
We'll start it and start him again in the fourth
God, what a shot of life man. That's that's that's the good stuff. You love to see that Randy
Cody I thought you were gonna ask Johnson if
You know if he and Mike were speaking in Italian up there in the booth during their during their job
I was gonna ask if you if if big Mike has asked Johnson Italian up there in the booth during their downtown.
I was gonna ask if Big Mike has asked Johnson
to go to Belvedere yet.
Oh yeah, that would be, gosh,
can you imagine getting in that four ball
of the Belvedere with Johnson and Mike Tureka?
That might be the most relaxed round of golf
you could possibly get.
Room is hot, guys, it is smoking hot in this room.
I know, the guy just he just
throws heat man. That's what he does. That's what he does.
Uh, Sali I think the time has come to move to our third hot news segment of
the week. You were you know you were dishing out some voicemails. Don't worry
we're gonna get to we've got another bullpen. Like I said it's a bullpen game.
We got another arm coming in who's gonna talk Ludwig, who's gonna talk
Bryson, who's gonna talk all kinds of We got another arm coming in who's going to talk Ludwig, who's going to talk Bryson,
who's going to talk all kinds of other things, I'm sure.
But before we get there, Sully, I think you had,
you had a lot of, like a variance of observations today.
Cody, why don't we key up voicemail number one, please.
Get your hard hats on.
You would not believe the scuttlebutt left of the 18th hole.
Seaboo Kim hits a skipper through the ninth green
while Shane Lowry is putting. The problem was he was playing the 18th hole. It took about five minutes to clear
out all the patrons so he could hit a pitch over the green. It was quite the nightmare. Gave Shane
Lowry and all of the patrons quite a fright. Crack on. Very descriptive. I don't know if there's
anything to add there. No, it was sick. It was a ball came across the ninth green while Shane Lowry was putting it. Seawill was in the
bunker left of nine and had a probably 60 yard shot back
across to 18. It was awesome. It kind of makes me angry how
good you are with that with these impressions like these
are very good. I think it's evolved a little away from the
Scoops voice. I don't know what it is but it's not as much as
an imitation or a copy of Scoops if I may say. No, it's a little more polished. I thinkops voice. I don't know what it is, but it's not as much as an imitation or a copy of
scoops. If I may say.
No, it's a little more polished. I think it plays. It
plays. He's getting better as the week goes on. He's, you
know, like, work hours, he's gonna regress tomorrow or is
he gonna keep it up? He's playing at a high level right
now. One thing I saw some I saw some tweets floating around
about maybe Taylor Swift was on property today. I don't know if
that was real or not. Solly did have a celebrity run inin was not Taylor Swift though. I think if that probably takes us to voicemail number two
Political figures have graced the grounds of Augusta National for decades
And what did you know crossing the third fairway at 3 35 p.m?
Daddy D big dig Ron DeSantis looking tall as I may say striding through the fairway
Drinking hand having a grand old time here at Augusta National Golf Club.
Did he have his foot joy platform cowboy boots on out there?
I didn't look fast enough, unfortunately.
That's, that's good.
Daddy D.
What a man.
What a, what a year.
I think a day at the masters is probably overdue for our guy Daddy D. Randy,
anything to add there? You all right?
No, no, no. We'll keep it moving. You can catch any thoughts on the trap drop.
All right. Let's go to voicemail number three, please.
Augusta National passed out special eclipse glasses earlier this week, and thank goodness
they did.
Second eclipse this week, Nikolai Horgard, after taking the lead at the Masters, went
bogey, bogey, bogey.
He touched the sun.
We watched it all through the glasses.
Cheers.
That was fucking dumb.
I said that too early.
Loud out there, yeah.
He made two more bogeys after that.
I thought I was like, I should probably redo it now.
He's going to make me play both of them if he does that.
That would have been sick, actually.
That's a good point. He made two more bogeys after that. I thought I was like, I should probably redo it now.
He's going to make me play both of them if he does that.
That would have been sick actually. That would have been great. Well, this has been a great
addition to my week. I look forward to every time I, you know, my phone never rings. So
I always look forward to getting a phone call and like, oh no, it's just Solly Lee. Anything
else to drop in before we bring
KVV in because I know he's got all kinds of stuff he was following all kinds of
people and you know he I'm sure he's got a notebook full of ideas I can go
quickly through my notes have we talked Bryce what Bryson did on 15 by the way
if not no he's there he I watched this unfold he blows it way right with his
second shot he's behind a little TV platform thing.
Got kind of a sketchy drop, if I may say.
I had a very clear view of it, and it looked like
the nearest point of relief would have been
to the right of where he dropped,
but that would have put him right behind a tree.
And the rules official let him go way farther away left
for the clear shot in.
But very much a ball don't lie situation.
He absolutely chunked.
I'm guessing that was off the kind of kitty litter gravel
stuff over there. That probably was not the best lie. But if you can go back and watch Cam Davis's fourth from that walkway.
I don't know if they showed that one on TV, but he hit the sickest open face like flop spinner back to that back left part
of the green and held it. If you want to see what to do and what not to do, the Bryson one was what not to do and the Nikolai Hohrgaard also was what not to do
there. I feel like you know obviously the drop was is what it is and that
chunk chip was that got a big sick out of me in real time. But I can't
understand what he was you know I congratulated, I commended Bryson yesterday for a smart layup on 15,
and I just don't really get why he tried to, you know, either muscle it into that bunker,
as they said on TV. I don't quite know what he was going for with his second shot there.
Yeah, it was, I mean, it's hard to tell from our angle. He was taking forever to make that decision
and I thought he was gonna end up laying up
because it looked horrific.
Again, that shot in 15 is just so different
with how firm it is.
I will say, an update on the whole Scotty being boring,
Scotty energy thing, there was some serious,
just heartfelt rooting for him amongst people,
especially on 13, him walking off the tee down 14, it was
like a semi-standing ovation. Like, you know, he's walking down. I mean, again, they just saw McEagle to get back
into a tie for the lead. But it was some pretty passionate yells for Scottie. A bunch of people around me were
just talking about like, Holy shit, man, we just saw an Eagle at the tie lead at the Masters. Like, what a special
moment. And I don't know, that just, it's not really a sense I've gotten on TV about
people being like necessarily passionate about Scotty. I will
say impossible to ignore for Bryson a if if if a 25% volume
cheer for him when he gets to a t box and up to like an 80% volume
when Max gets up there like every single T is just a totally
different energy that follows Max compared to Bryson.
And there's a 0.0% chance that he did not notice that
out there that.
That's interesting.
Only other thing I was kinda looking at your notes
you dropped in.
What's the deal with Hoygard?
Is it a one speed situation?
He's got one speed.
Is it an electric, might be an electric car.
It's go, and at one speed, it's good.
Like on a straight, he's very, very good.
But when you put the turns in there,
it's just like every time it got a little dicey,
a little bit challenging, he just got exposed.
Like again, going back to like the mess he made on 15
was kind of the last hurrah of the mess that he made.
And when he misses a green or misses, misses in the wrong
spot, it's just like, dude, that, he cannot survive getting up and down many times. He just did not hit the chip
he hit after taking a drop on 15. Did not have the same sound as some of the other top pros. He did not check up
like a lot of the guys' chips do that are really competing in this championship. He's had a great tournament. I
don't want to pile on him too much. But once he, once he got to minus seven, it looked like he almost did semi freak
out.
He's shot into four was I think the best of the day.
I don't know if you saw that at damn near went in. He did not end. He, he didn't
make the, he didn't make the birdie putt, but uh, it, yeah.
Strikes and gutters out of my guy.
Yeah. He might be the most unstable compound.
You know, maybe it's an homage to Neil's bore countrymen, you know, quantum structure, things of that nature.
God, that's so stupid.
So, uh, I'm sorry.
All right.
So I want you to go tap in our next reliever KVV and while you do, we're going
to, we're going to pay one more bill.
Cody, who are we going to talk about?
We are talking about foreyte Sports, DJ.
Absolutely.
Forsyte.
And Thursday, you heard us mention Forsyte Sports GC
Quad and the Quad Max launch monitors
being everywhere on the range and how players are using them
in practice rounds.
Cody, I've started doing the same exact thing.
The weather's just nice enough now.
We can take them out to the course.
You can start hitting all kinds of different shots. Pick a number, say 120. that That's where I'm trying to get to my man. I'm trying to hit shots. I'm not trying to be a little explosive.
I'm trying to hit explosives.
Cody, what about you?
That's the exact same thing that Randy actually told me he's been doing with all this free
time that he has too.
Just out there grinding on the range.
No, honestly, for people who are confused.
So Forsyte does an awesome job of updating their blog on their website here.
You can actually go in there Nick Dunlap did an awesome write up about how he actually uses
it. Everybody please go check that out. He actually uses a very similar drill using two
to three different clubs try to hit the same shots and same carry yardages just trying
to prep him for shots requiring different trajectory and shaping needs, I've kind of tried to mimic this the best that I can, what I know.
I mean, we're still very new into this partnership.
But what I know is telling me a lot of information
and a lot of the data that I'm discovering is like,
wow, that actually makes sense now.
Okay, I need to square this up. I need to figure this out.
But at the end of the day, my carries, my spins,
I'm so excited to actually get dialed with my numbers. this up. I need to figure this out. But at the end of the day, my carries, my spins,
I'm so excited to actually get dialed with my numbers.
If you have not seen the quad or the quad max show up in our content yet, please be
we're preaching patience, Randy. It's coming. The hay is in the barn. We took it to Scotland.
We've got all kinds of video content we shot over there at Trune. We shot a bunch of stuff
at St. Andrews. You're going to see the quad popping up everywhere. Forsyte Sports,
they set the benchmark for what all launch monitors should be
measured. Learn more about them at Forsyte Sports.com. F-O-R-E-S-I-G-H-T
sports.com. Forsyte Sports. KVV. Come on in, my man.
We go now to 16 with KVB making a surprise appearance.
We, let me, let me just say, KVB, we had a buddy, uh, on, on a text thread today,
say there's no doubt that CBS is going to run like an eight minute Vern montage
tomorrow and totally fuck up like, you know, where they are in the tournament.
And it just be prepared for that people.
I apologize for whatever shots you're missing at this moment,
but this is my time in the sun.
I've said this many times. I'm in on all the Verne stuff.
I'm so in.
Guy's a legend. He gets at least five years of runway to wind this thing down.
I give it all to me. I'm totally in.
I might be weeping tomorrow. I might it all to me, I'm totally in.
I might be weeping tomorrow.
I might be weeping for Max, weeping for Vern.
It's gonna be a very emotional Sunday here.
Well, you're a big brising guy too, you never know.
He's not too far back.
Kev, floor is yours.
Best thing you saw today?
Honestly, best thing I saw today was Max's chip on four.
He air mailed four and literally the
people were like, fair catch, fair catch. So the ball was in
the air because it was going towards those stands, which I
thought as a baseball guy that Max would appreciate. And we got
over there, it seemed like completely impossible. And I
was right there listening to him and Joe talk about it. And they
were kind of going through all the options. And you know, he
had to really like,
land it perfectly left of the bunker there. And Joe was like,
Alright, look, if you can't spin it, you got to go further left and just take longer putt. He's like, Alright, alright. And you
could hear like him taking the club back and just nipping the
grass perfectly like four or five times. And right as he took
it back, like someone in their chair sat on the stands like
they're set up in their chair and it went like,
Oh my God, what the fuck? And he hit this absolutely buttery floaty
chip with a must have about 9000 rpms on it. And it just checked
up like four feet from the hole. I was like, Holy Christ, you
could give me 1000 golf balls and I could not get that ball to
stop there. That was I was I was like
You know what? This is gonna be a grinded out day
I mean, it's his putt on the first hole
you know kind of hula hooped around the hole like it was going on a Hawaiian vacation and
I mean just ducked in there
I thought man that could be like the thing that just settles him down because he was super nervous
You know on that first tee shot it sounded like he almost topped it
You know from where I was sitting but then of a sudden, it was way left in the
fairway. But I just I don't know, I know it wasn't the best
day for him. I know there's some things he would like to have
back. But I kind of loved watching him grind. Did you hear
his quote yet? Deeds from the presser afterwards? No. This
honestly made me like a little bit emotional. Like I might make
you like emotional to your big softie like me. He said, What
are you gonna take in tomorrow? What are you gonna sort of think about?
And he said, he's quiet and he was like,
I'm gonna remind myself that I'm a dog
and I'm ready for this moment.
Oh yeah.
Hell yeah. Let's go guys, come on.
Oh, I'm a dog and I'm ready for this.
And I don't wear fucking shoes either, by the way.
I don't wear little dog shoes. I'm not a foo foo dog
Did we talk about the dog shoes?
We did already
Yeah we did
How are the vibes out there around our guy?
Do you guys, do you got people out there with him? What's the...
Yeah!
I think I saw it touching this, a lot of people loving him from the stands
But I had to laugh out loud because we were walking up five and I didn't realize it. I was right in front of, or excuse me, right behind Lacey, his wife,
and she was, he hit like a ripper of a drive on five and she was like, hi babe! And he was like,
I, she was, she was like, man that's pretty cute. Like your wife is like, you know, shouting you out
in the middle of a very important, like the most important round of your golfing life. So it's
pretty, a pretty wholesome moment there.
From his press conference, did you glean, you know,
was it, was he positive about today?
Was he disappointed, you know, a few putts didn't go in.
What was the overall tenor of,
of how he thought his day went?
I think, you know, the tenor I would describe as like,
pretty positive.
Like if he said, even if he had told me I was just gonna shoot, make no bogeysor I would describe as like, pretty positive. Like if he said, you know, if he had told me
I was just gonna shoot, make no bogeys,
I would have thought I was gonna
shot myself out of the tournament.
So I feel pretty good.
He was like, it's just really hard out there.
I mean, he said, he said,
I was actually pretty pleased with the way I putted.
I hit some putts online and, you know,
a lot of them didn't go in.
So I think I'll kind of accept that.
And sometimes it's about the fight.
Sometimes you like a grind.
I love to see that
from probably like look he's been in some of these positions before where like halfway through
a major we've been like oh this is the time when he's really gonna get it done and you know he
kind of has slid down the board and the fact that that didn't happen on like a super tough day I
think is this awesome sign of progress. Speaking of just grinding, I understand you also followed our beautiful
boy the cat for a little while. Any big takeaways from that? Well, I thought to myself, there's
not that many chances you're going to get to see Tiger play at Augusta. You know, maybe
in another 30 years, who knows, but maybe not. Maybe one of these days he's like, I'm
shutting her down. And so I thought I got to sneak over here and see it. And I was watching
him play 15 and I was kind of seeing
him kind of go through you know, whether he was going to go for
it after drive or lay up or whatever. And there was a group
of people like sit next to me kind of talking a little bit and
I kind of turned and looked over and there was Charlie Woods,
just hanging out watching his dad. And I thought, man, you
know what, I don't want to be a weirdo here. But I kind of want
to sit here and like, why, I appreciate all you do online.
Yeah.
Your YouTube game, your Snapchat game is amazing.
Uh, the kids are always talking about it in middle school. Uh,
I gotta say, so I just like, you know, hung back,
I gave them their space and it was always kind of just listening a little bit to
sort of see what they thought about stuff. And I just thought,
what a fascinating thing to like your dad is playing the
Masters and you are sort of listening to people all around you talking about him.
Like everybody's like, Oh, tiger this tiger this.
And like every conversation in your vicinity is your dad, but like that's your dad.
And he did a little bit of like, he's into some shots and he was doing the board
teenager thing on some others.
And I just thought, you know, what, what a kind of neat thing where like,
this is what this tournament does, right?
It's like over here might be Greg Norman and like Sally and I met Aaron Paul
today from Breaking Bad.
And then like, here's Charlie Woods and here's Trevor Realman and all the grounds
we're talking about Taylor Swift showing up today.
So it's just like, you're kind of mixing the elite stuff is like all the really rich people get to go behind these closed doors. But if
you're not like a billionaire or a Green Jacket member, you're kind of just all in the same
pace, whether you're a sports writer or the son of the greatest golfing legend that is
of my lifetime.
Briefly confused Aaron Paul and Jake Paul for a second.
No, that, yeah. I can understand that.
That was a bit of a let down.
I don't know that's all I would have said.
He appreciated his artistry,
the way that he did for Aaron Paul, for Jake Paul.
Chance he would have been out there with the group.
The Pauls, you know, what a, you know,
the whole Paul family.
We talked a lot of Scotty already,
but any Scotty thoughts?
How's our guy gonna fare tomorrow, you think?
Yeah, I think, I think he's talking about speaking to dogs. Like I,
you know, my heart's going to be with Max,
but I don't know how you can't think like that Scott is not the dude.
I mean that shot into 18 was just serial killer stuff and seeing him like pump
his fist a ton of times. You don't see him like get that emotional.
I'd often told me like he is sort of locked in.
I got to ask him one question in the presser
and I was like, you know,
what's it like to like trust your eyes again?
Like when you're looking over the ball,
I mean, you've been a good putter your whole life
and then all of a sudden it just stops
and you have like these two years of like
just rage frustration that you're trying to keep bottled up.
Then all of a sudden like you can bank putz again,
that's kind of be kind of cool.
And he was like, yeah, I mean,
it got pretty frustrating there for a while. That's kind of true. And cool. And he was like, Yeah, I mean, it, it got pretty frustrating there for a
while. That's, that's kind of true. And, you know, I just,
it's just nice to be able to like, he's like, I was thinking
too much, overthought everything. And now I just kind
of look at the ball and just say, think, just roll it in. And,
you know, if you're the best athlete, like hand eye
coordination on the tour, you probably that's what you should
do.
Find a pen and just write that one down.
Oh, yeah, that's probably good advice.
All right, I got to think just to, yeah, let me try that.
All right, well, Kev, we'll let you get back to it.
I know you got another big one in front of you tomorrow.
Thanks for hopping on.
Say hi to Aaron Paul
and enjoy whatever you guys get into tonight.
I want to tell you one thing before I go.
I did feel like I let squad down today.
Solly and I were in the, we went up to the clubhouse where you can go up in the veranda and have a
little bit of lunch and I didn't really realize that Gary Player was walking right behind me as
we were going up the stairs until someone was like Gary Player, Gary Player, Gary Player. Really would have loved to ask him for his thoughts on you know the
the situation with Iran and Israel all that his, his thoughts on Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Sure he would have had some strong takes.
I've listened to takes.
You know, I didn't.
Maybe tomorrow.
There's always tomorrow, man.
Maybe he'll call on the voicemail line.
We'll see, the voicemail line, I don't know.
That's true, yeah, my phone's on tomorrow.
Give him a number.
I'll pass around, yeah.
I bet he has one of those stickers where he can,
like you put a sticker on the back of your cellphone here,
you're allowed to get to use it. So Scotty did say that he has
someone here has a cell phone with that they're allowed to
keep it so with them so that if Meredith goes into labor, he
can leave the course immediately, get on a private jet
and fly back to where she is, I assume, in Dallas. So that's
he's got like three holes left and you get that phone call. So
Eddie, Eddie to be in someone holes left and you get that phone call. So Eddie, that's a heavy to be in.
Someone said, do you think my phone? My phone was on silent.
Yeah. Oh, so I'm sorry, honey, but I I got a green jacket on
in the room here. That's that's cool. She did. He did.
Someone said, do you think that she'll call and he was like,
she better call me like so I don't need another master's
more than he needs his first kid. I think I think that's
right.
All right, Kev, enjoy the rest of the night.
You know, we've talked, Randy, we've talked a lot of dogs tonight.
We've talked, you know, I want to bring in a guy to close us out here.
Pitch the eighth and the ninth.
He's got a strong dog mentality.
I know nobody embraces dog mentality more than our guy TC.
TC greetings.
Hello.
Hi, how are you?
I got a couple big cans here, boys. TC. TC greetings, hello, hi, how are you?
I got a couple of big cans here, boys.
Big cans.
Big cans. Big cans.
Big cans.
Big cans.
That's TC's music.
Oh look, he's doing it! What is that hat? Froidy and stuff going on.
Flarge.
Flarge.
See the new Kliks hat?
Is that a new Kliks hat TC?
It is.
It is a new Kliks hat.
A friend of mine brought this up from Miami.
With him.
Hell yeah. A friend of mine brought this up from Miami with him.
Hell yeah. He played some golf. T.C., I asked you to just kind of bring what's, T.C. is burning.
You know, what's, what's, what do you got? What's three things in the notebook tonight?
Yeah. First things first, I don't want to disrupt like we were in Johnsonville. It was Johnsonville Brats, you know, all respect to Johnson Wagner, huge fan of the guy, all he brings to the game.
So I don't want to roughly feathers with the broadcast camp over there. But I thought CBS
was falling into some bad, bad habits. Thank you. Thank you. It was uh, they lost the plot. They were a hole behind it many parts of the day
They they were about an hour in they're doing all sorts of catch-up stuff and all sorts of little feature at stuff
And it just wasn't so shy. That's not who you are. That's not who we are
And and it just I got some bad flashbacks there. So just wanted to call that out backslide. We made so much progress
No backsliding so much of Tigers 82 so much more than was necessary
We did we did especially, you know with feature groups and all that stuff
Like if you want to watch tiger like just go go watch just go eat your heart out, right? Yeah
You know not seeing any Ludwig just like the first couple of days. I I don't want to hear any Vern
slander. Vern's my guy. I think there's been a very pro
Vern shot. No, no, no. We have. It has. Yeah, we just need to
be prepared for a long Vern segment in CBS possibly losing
track of the tournament. Well, it's like we can't do both,
right? We can't have the Vern stuff and and everything else.
Like if we pick one, I would be Team Vern in that case.
And I get it.
I feel like they may be in a tough spot with, you know,
feature group coverage and AMN Corner and 456 and all that
makes it so that everybody's watching all this stuff live
as it is and then it feels canned,
even though it's not overly canned.
But at some point, they're too far behind
to where it's not even live TV anymore.
I do want to give a shout out, they had some really, really cool camera shots panning up
at some of the greens, especially on some chips. They're really getting good.
Cellar Shy is putting the guys in a position to capture the whole context of the shot, right? Whether
it's like Max hitting it into 15 or into 17 or just, you know, a chip shot that Scotty
had on 17, just really, really cool sweeping angles of greens and chips. So props there,
but need a better showing tomorrow, guys I'll just just throw that out there
I feel like that's that's firm, but fair right there. Totally. That's totally fair. Okay, okay
Speaking of firm, but fair guys were we're 65 minutes and 34 seconds into this fucking show
No, no, no
That got away from us. We were waiting for you for this. We were waiting for you. We were waiting for you.
We knew you were coming.
This was in their game plan.
Solid.
Please, please.
Solid, will you back me up here?
This is respect for you, TC.
No, I won't back you up.
I know Ludwig's our guy, right?
I assume that's where we're going,
but we saved the talk for when you're coming on.
It's part of the agenda.
If we would've talked about it, you guys would've been like,
oh, you guys took my thing.
I was gonna talk about Ludwig.
No, no, he's a community asset. Uh,
what'd you guys think? I'll pose it to you guys. What'd you think?
I mean, he's the dude.
I think he looks the part. That's like the best compliment I can give him.
He just looks the part.
What I said on Slack TC is like we're all just wildly desensitized to Ludwig already
and I hate that because like this is insane that this is going on. And so I know Spieth
was younger. I know there's all that kind of stuff but the guy's playing his first major
man. He's a top 10 player in the world. He might win the Masters tomorrow and it just
feels like oh yeah, huh. Crazy, great player. First of all, everybody's younger
when they play their first Masters.
Well, I thought about this and it's like,
I watched, I missed a lot of his round
but I was watching some of it on the app when I got in.
For as much as we all make about this tournament,
about the pageantry of it, the suspense,
the enormity of it all, to watch someone just treat it
like it's a Tuesday
practice round at the Valspar is, it's jarring.
Like it just, I don't know if it,
I'm sure it does mean something to him,
but none of that comes out, right?
It's just like a true golfing robot.
He's incredible.
I just don't know if I feel a ton when I watch it, right?
It's just like, oh yeah, he's just steadily rising up the board, just doing all this. And I don't know if, when they're not giving you any emotion or giving you that's the proper way to play golf. I'm not hating on
it. It just doesn't has not inspired a lot of internal
feelings. I'm sorry if that offends you TC but I think
that's somewhat fair.
It's just maybe sounds like a you problem. You know, I think I
don't know. I mean, he the birdie on to today like he's
he's just, he's just, he's just, he's just problem. You know, I think I
don't know. I mean, he the birdie on to today like, he's
he's just this is his favorite tournament watch like like to
watch growing up that people asked him prior to tournament.
Hey, like, what's your what's your favorite major? What major
would you like to win? And he said, unequivocally the
Masters. And just to see that go on, he actually had a really
good callback. 2012 Masters, Peter Hansen, which was really, really tough just as a viewer
because everybody's like, man, like, well, this guy just please go away. That was kind
of like the Jeff Maggert, like, just go away. And Ludwig said that's like one of the things
that inspired him early on, you know, as a golfer. And it's also really demoralizing. That was 12 years ago. It's really demoralizing
to think about that. That's like his first Masters memory is the 2012 Masters.
KBV had a line in his piece yesterday about Spieth. It was like, oh, next year it'll
be 10 years since Spieth won the Bachelor. It was like, no, you got to take that out.
That can't be right. That would make me super old. If that was true, then I would be super old. So that can't be right.
That was his first though. He won like four more.
Right. We copy-edited after that. What do you credit this to? Where does the comfort come from? Where does the looking like he's done it for 30 years come from? Where does the like looking like he's done it for 30 years come from? I think it just comes some of it comes from just the swing right if he's if he
swung it like that I mean there's not a whole lot going wrong there he's it's so
efficient and just simple but not easy kind of thing like he had 160 yards into
10 today I mean that's that's ridiculous like Like that's a big, big, big drive. And just the way that he did it today, birdies on two,
Mr. Makeable one on three, kind of nasty up and down on four birdie on five was like,
I was kind of like, yo, like this is happening, man.
This is this is big.
Hits a proper shot into six.
Mr. Makeable one on eight.
Gross birdie on nine, like great wedge shot in there
Probably should have buried ten like that was one of the better shots of the day into ten
took a really aggressive line into 11 and
You know kind of you know put his nuts out on the table what didn't love the nine iron on 12
I thought that I would have liked to have seen him kind of gas a pitching wedge there. And then just a nice every year, but everybody had a tough time
guessing that nobody wanted to hit the shot. Yeah, it wasn't really even blowing down there.
That's what was kind of nobody was hitting good shots. And I wasn't sticking out to me in person
as to why that was everybody going long on the telecast. They said the flag on 11 made it seem like the wind was really in and
everybody was just missing along because they speculated people were looking at
that flag. So yeah, it was, um, you know, I mean, a bunch of guys long left there
and it's like, yo, just like, just hit it at the flag on that one today. It's
probably the easiest pin on that green. Will you will you apologize for 15?
Hold on. Well, we're gonna get there nice patient. 14. He barely
missed his spot. I thought 14 pin was sick today. So I thought
that was one of the best, most enjoyable viewing spots of the
day. Just like, all right, like, it's a very exacting shot. And
you got to hit it. And there's a difference between a good shot
and a great shot. I was a little bit disappointed there that it didn't hold up. And then 15,
basically the same spot that Scotty hit it into. Scotty gets it up and down. Ludwig's hitting it
in there with lumber. And I don't know, I felt like he putted the one on 14. I felt like he
should have putted the one on 15, both the first one and the second one after he flubbed it. But that's me saying that is like
the worst chipper in the world. And Ludwig saw me chip.
He's like, you throw your club.
Yeah. So, you know, that was in his book when he opened it up.
opened it up. Remember that chip shot TC hit.
He had a bunch of, you know,
a few putts that five to eight foot range that just didn't,
didn't go in. Um, I thought 16, he had a really good shot in there. Like very good shot. 17,
awesome drive, proper approach.
And then 18 like one of the better shots of the day and hit a good putt.
I thought it was in. So he had 13 greens today and I don't see that changing tomorrow.
He just needs to make a couple more putts and he's right there, he's right in it.
I mean, he doesn't look fazed at all by it.
And it's kind of one of those things where you look at someone like Max, love him to death.
And it's like Ludwig seems like, all right, cool.
Like I'm going to go out and play similar round to what I played on Friday or what I played on Thursday. Whereas it feels like Max is
in a little bit of a prevent defense and trying to hang on for dear life and get it to Sunday,
which is fine. I'm not begrudging that, but I think at the end of the day,
that's why I really like watching Ludwig play. It's like, man, he's just going to try to go get it.
Man, that's so well said too.
If you really want to get into the psychology and thinking through the differences between,
what is he, 24?
Being a 24 and 34-year-old pro golfers are very different people, man.
That's awesome to think about. And they're
going to be paired together tomorrow and just like watching how they attack, watching how
they attack the course and similar in different ways, watching how they, you know, just how
their styles contrast. I think it's gonna be awesome. And I also think the other thing
you're talking about TC is like the Joe Skovrin pairing with Ludwig is like that, that feels
like really, really, really great. They
feel like they would compliment each other really well. And also like Loki, one of Max's best buds
too. So comfy pairing for him tomorrow too. A lot more comfy than I imagined the Bryson pairing was
today. Skavi, yeah, like it seems like Ludwig's got total confidence in him. I think he's helped
him out tremendously. You know, he's definitely improved his chipping and his putting. I think he's, he's helped him out tremendously. Um, you know, he's definitely
improved his chipping and his putting, I think he's, he's got a ways to go there. So it's just
a matter of, Hey, you got to hit it close and you got to make the pots. So, um, yeah, that was my big,
that was my second big takeaway today. T.C. you're talking about Ludwig and like, yeah, you guys going
through why he kind of acts like, Oh, this is Oh hum. This isn't such a big deal.
I've been obviously recovering. The block party was not a success again.
And just, you know, come in, trying to come up with excuses for things that happen.
And, uh, you know, Rory is just such a one-dimensional golfer.
Like he doesn't really know how to play in the wind that much.
And I truly think Ludvig's like, I know it's funny that he went to Texas
tech and he was out in Lubbock, but the courses that they play, where they go,
where he won in college, where he's won so far as a professional, like.
It doesn't matter what the condition is.
Obviously this is a major championship, his first major championship.
And there's a ton of things that are so new to him, but he also
doesn't have the scar tissue.
So when you step up and he just is like, yep, I'm taking everything in around me, but when
it's time to lock into the shot, he's like, oh yeah, this win, perfect.
I've played this shot plenty of times before and just rips it.
And the only thing I'll say about that-
He also seems like the kind of guy that's not going to get in his own way and have too
much scar tissue build up either like he's making
Decisions quick and he's playing quick and he's he's pulling the trigger
the only thing I'll say this brings me no pleasure to say TC but
Life without scar tissue does not last forever for anybody. So carry careful what we wish for tomorrow. That's that's the only that's the only thing
we're with love seeing them in the spot, but
That's the only thing. Love seeing them in the spot, but it's going to... I was going to say Canada is going to come down the track at some point.
That's exactly right. Cody, you might need to change the block party to maybe a
Midsommar festival or something in Fertrune, I think. I don't know if my liver can handle that.
No, the US Open would be more of a mid-Summer.
Yeah, I guess more of a late June.
That's June.
Yeah, sorry.
We could have a crayfish party.
I do feel like it's worth just underlining, right?
Everybody has heard this is his first major, his first masters.
Justin Ray tweeted out, you know, the list of people like Ludwig has a real chance to make some like big
boy history tomorrow. Okay. He's he nobody has ever won their master's debut. Um, except since
fuzzy. Sorry. And Deidre, we were talking about the last guys to win their first major. What was
it? Keegan, Ben Curtis, and then you got to go back to Frankie.
It's just like, I just really love when guys put themselves in position.
It's like do historic shit, right? He's got a chance to join some rarefied air. And that's very cool. Totally circling back. It's like, okay, Scotty wins and the best player of maybe his generation
gets another major. Colin wins. He goes from two to three and the Grand Slam gets in his
sights. Ludwig wins. You get all of the stuff you just said. Or Max wins and like, that
would be pretty freaking cool as well. So like, yeah, I'm in.
fantasy baseball league.
Yeah, you're, you've talked me into it already. I'm gonna be watching tomorrow. I'll be, uh, do you see anything else burning?
Yeah, one more thing. Really burning. Zach Johnson's reputation is burning, guys.
It's a, it's, it's, uh, it might be a hundred year fire.
Uh, it's, it's disgusting. It's disgusting.
Uh, Cody, I think we got some video
That we can queue up here. I don't understand the situation at all
What what what is it? What are they saying that I did or said or?
That I swore at the patrons that's laughable that's completely laughable
I can't hear the patrons number one number two
I just made a triple bogey on the 12th hole that evidently is gonna
Make me miss the cut which at the time I kind of knew is pretty sensitive
In the sense that I needed to keep making pars if I've said anything which
I'm not gonna deny if it, especially if it's on camera,
one, I apologize and two is fully directed towards myself entirely because I can't hear anything
behind me. Does that make sense? I don't understand the situation.
Yeah, I mean, guys, does that make sense? Zach? No,
it doesn't. As someone who tells myself to fuck off all the time
when I play golf. I know what it sounds like. I usually call
yourself by name too. Yeah. Yeah. Usually name names. Like,
like I don't stand up and then lift my head up and project my
voice towards the patrons. Well after the ball was
hold and after the applause was on it the the camera's audio is picking up the patrons right
there so you can hear it if the camera audio is picking that up you 100% can hear it it's all a
lie he's lying it's a lie. Thank you solid thank you for taking a strong stand on this because he
said I couldn't hear behind me well you know what know what? The, the Azaleas are behind you. The patrons are in front of
you. Big dog. Okay.
So stupid to just say, yeah, man, I was frustrated. I'm sorry if anybody was offended. Got a
little hot. Sure. And this guy is better than man. I would never disrespect Facebook.
Fred laughing at me over the other side of 12.
Yeah, I got mad at him.
Okay, snap, snap.
Like it's such a stupid thing to try this, you know, talking in circles.
And I think that's where I net out on a lot of this is like, I don't care if he's lying.
I don't care if you believe it, but I will be consuming all the content.
I mean, give it all.
He's just such like the meltdown that he's had over the last year or two, even before the Ryder Cup.
Like it just says he's a generational cheese dick and it's such a bummer that he won it at St.
Andrews and I feel like he's been like this for a long time and people are finally getting to realize
it and it's you know, this is on the heels of the whole don't serve me thing out of
the Phoenix open, which, you know, somebody asked him about that. He said, he asked since the Ryder
Cup, you've caught some comments from different fans at different tournaments. How difficult has
that been to deal with? Zach said, you're going to have to elaborate. I'm sorry. At the Phoenix Open, there were some comments made.
Zach, oh no, again, I'm not on social media.
I haven't been for months, maybe even close to a year.
I was shown a video.
I think I know which one it was because it happened multiple times where I interjected.
But when I see vomiting and then guys egging on the guy to drink another beer with a middle
school golf team to my right, I'm going to say something as an adult. Like what? If not him, who? Don't serve me. It's just, I'm so over this guy. Yeah,
he's just own it, man. And he's playing on his career money exemption is time. All right. It's master's.
It's because he's a master's.
So anyway, I think it's an embarrassment to the club and I think they should be.
They should be appalled.
They should strip his green jacket.
Yeah, guys, I got it.
I got a lightning round if you'll if you'll allow me.
Sure, please.
You can't lay a seven back.
Clearly not a threat.
Perfect.
No notes. He's like hanging out right
there at even. Gosh, I wanted to call out, Max had a nice little Mongolian reversal on number eight
today. He was punching out and then has like a 15 footer up the hill for birdie after he looks like
he's going to be scrambling for par. That was awesome. We got to keep the tension out
and the friction of the shots on 10. That miss into 10, where that stuff adds up and you get
frayed by the time you're into four o'clock on Sunday afternoon. I know this stuff. I've been
through it before. What else? Bryson, he's subhuman. He also made two pars on his last
11 holes, like just crazy. Getting word from some of the
guys, two, four and six greens are firmer than the other
greens. Which I think those are the ones that they've
redone. There's not seen quite as much magic on two as we've,
as we have in recent years. And I'm not sure if that's a result of the T being moved back or just,
you know, wind direction and all that. John Cam Davis seems like John Sendon 2.0. God,
that's a great call. Good call. God, that's a good take. But with like higher ceiling
upside. I was with the putt today who called that out.
I was like, yep.
Cam Smith putted like, shit, he should be right there.
I think he's going to kind of rue this one a little bit.
Bad three putt from Tommy on 18.
Needed him to get in at minus three, I think.
I want to shout out Lucas Glover.
He's had a really good week and one of his better masters showings thus far. at minus three, I think. I want to shout out Lucas Glover.
He's had a really good week and, you know,
one of his better masters showings thus far.
Shipley and Cat paired together.
Tomorrow is sick.
I think that's cool. Cat with a...
I like Shipley. I think he seems like a pretty,
pretty real dude and extremely,
extremely smart, switched on guy.
Tom Kim filled his pants today
The deck Ian Rick played in sub four hours and both shot under par wanted to call that out after the travesty
That we witnessed the last couple days
the twisted mind parlay
Minus the Ekroth thing like would like looking absolutely primo right now You need need need Henley to kind of play well tomorrow. And then Matthew
Bavon and Sepp Stracke. That's the Austrian-French pairing tomorrow. Could be a precursor for
BethPage. So that's what I got.
That's good stuff. All right. I got a couple quick quick hitter questions then we'll get to our final menus here
All right. This is one. I've had circled in my notebook for a while. I want to know we'll just go through these quick
Randy I'll start with you. What if you if you had to try what's the worst take you could come up with right now about this
Masters
It's not original but damn don't we miss Taylor Gouge, right? I just feel cheated
I can't imagine, you know, I look at the leaderboard. It's okay, whatever but fuck man
I feel like we all really missed out
Sorry the worst take
Would be they should have two Masters per year
That is a bad take. It's a bad take and I think you're're starting to see the light. Or worst take would be they should play it
every other year like the Ryder Cup. Continue on.
I don't know if I necessarily disagree with that. I think that
I would listen to that take. I will say my worst take. This is
not original would just be Scottie's boring. I am so
locked into every single shot he's hitting and anybody who
says that's a moron. I can't sleep on
that TC. What do you got?
Gosh, worst take would be it's too tough out there. I think it's a little bit different
Masters this year. It's not birdies flying around, but I think everything feels like
it's on a nice edge, but it doesn't feel contrived either. So I think anybody that's complaining
about there's not enough birdies, there's not enough eagles, there's not enough people, you know,
putting the pedal down. I think that sucks. I think, you know, we take what the year gives us,
right? And in this year, the conditions have given us just an awesome, awesome, you know,
canvas on which to play really tough golf. And so if you're not cool with that, then get the hell out.
We're gonna, we're gonna snake back to you. See if you, if you
had one mulligan, one mulligan to hand out to somebody,
can I just real quick, the KVV ending his master's video with,
you know, or you could welcome them and TC that with you, you
could fuck off.
Get the hell I didn't say fuck off. I said, get the hell out.
Especially that video. Okay.
Especially that tough video.
Yeah.
I don't deny that.
Yeah.
You can hand out one mulligan that would have made the day just a little better. Like, God, I wish I want to see that guy hit that shot again.
Honestly,
I don't know what.
I don't know what they would have like, I'm not sure if they were in between clubs, or
if they just said, hey, unless we're inside of 200 yards, we're not going for it. But
both 13 and 15 with Max, like I'd like to see him stick his nose in there a little bit
more, instead of waiting on everything to break right and come to him and then setting
it up for tomorrow
I just I don't think you can do that with Scotty
I think you got a you got to kind of force the issue a little bit at some point
You got to raise your hand and say you know what like I'm volunteering as tribute. I'm trying to get in the mix here
I'm gonna get through that on Saturday will be my question
Yeah, but that's what I'm saying is like I think I
Guess my thing too is like is it easy to switch that mentality heading into tomorrow?
When like he's gone how many holes without making a birdie now? I know it's 32 32
Me and it's just it feels like he's he's managing a
We talked about it a little earlier. That concerns me. It feels like he's managing a… I'm not saying force the issue, but on both of
those holes, and then to make the mistake that he made, like hitting into 18 or hitting into 10,
it's like, hey, man, those aren't green lights either. Maybe you just hit bad shots into those.
It's like a Vanguard 2055, 2065, that he's just trying to make compound
interest and kind of a dividend play here instead of like, no, man, like put some chips in
a little bit, right? Maybe that's harsh. That's what makes it so fun though is like
knowing where that line is. When the golf course gets like this is like, I forget if this was you
saying this or when you were saying it, but like lots of yellow lights, man. It's just a
lot of like, you can you can stop or go up to you and seeing
what guys choose is, is good. I think
there's red light cameras on all the
everywhere even when you think you're you're fine, you're you
could get tickets. I'll stick on. Yeah, I just would love to be
proven wrong there. Like, like, like, I'm not I'm not being critical of Max and Joe. Like, I'm just saying like, man, I'll stick on. Yeah, I just would love to be proven wrong there like for sure like like I'm not
I'm not being critical of max and joe like I i'm just saying like
Man, I hope i'm fucking wrong on that, right? It doesn't turn into a two or three shot
For scotty where he doesn't even look back
I would uh, I would love for max to have another crack at that chip on number two
I think he was in a good spot just flat chunked it and
If he nestles that up in there close and makes a birdie
it could be a little different day if the lid comes off.
So what do you got?
I want to see Bryson hit that third shot on 15 again because I want to see him hit in
the water again because he that was always going to go in the water and it was so sick.
I just want to see it again.
It was awesome.
Randall. I, I'm glad Scotty doesn't get a mulligan for his approach on 10 because
this could for sure be over.
I was actually going to say Max's drive on eight, the one he hooked way left
and has to punch out and I know he ended up getting a birdie putt out of it, but
man, put that in the fairway, knock it up close, give yourself a, you know, banking
on him, making birdie there, and maybe maybe that unlock something the rest of the day. I think
that could have been a big swinger for him.
All right. Next question. I was absolutely tickled on the preview pod listening to KVV
continually say, quote, he was sticking his neck out with predictions and say he was he was doing things like saying Roy was going to
top 15 plus 110 bets that were just really, really good stuff.
So I want to hear you guys either real or tongue in cheek
solid stick your neck out, man. Let's hear let's hear
prediction. What do you got?
Come back to me. I need to, I need to re-circle.
That's the spirit of the contest.
It's overlapping with my fan duel pick, which we're going to do again.
That's why I'm panicking on the take, but let's come back.
Randy, stick your fucking neck out, man.
Listen, nobody's got more majors than Colin Morikawa at the top of this leaderboard.
And I think the disrespect being shown to him is... By you, I can't stand it. I can't stand it. He's got a chance to have at the end of the day tomorrow, three times as many majors as Scotty Scheffler. And listen, I think the man deserves a little bit more respect. And I think everybody's underestimating him.
And I think everybody's underestimating him. Randy, I called it out on our preview show.
I said, hey, if Colin wins this week, he's got 75% of the way to the grand slam.
And the US Open feels like maybe the tournament he's most predisposed to playing well.
Now, granted, I laughed at it afterwards.
And I said, is he going to win?
Absolutely not.
Because he has a fake service animal or an emotional support animal to them, right?
Yeah, I don't know that for sure. Do you see you sticking your neck out? I
Was we could go yeah, I'll stick I mean
Trying to think I can go if you want to sit
I got going I can go is it gonna put everybody in a bad mood if I just flat out say like like Tigers not
Gonna win another major like we're good. We're good I just flat out say like, like tiger's not going to win another major. Like we're good.
We're good where we're at.
Oh, so it's like a KVV honor. Like the don't actually put yourself.
Oh, is this, are we kidding? I thought this was like, I think it's either,
you know, either way. I mean,
I just think people kind of still refuse to say that cause they don't want to,
they don't want to stick their neck out on that.
They don't want to be like this is it'd be wrong.
This is how the DJ pie stick your neck out.
Dej Dej on that note, I do want to give a shout out to our guy, Sean Martin,
um, who tweeted yesterday or a couple of days ago, he said, quote, imagine the
alternate universe where Tiger Woods had remained healthy throughout his forties.
What he would have accomplished is an intriguing what-if
Man, Sean you are sticking your neck out. You look like a giraffe
Take I got my Hogan never get hit by that bus. You ever think about that?
Bryson won't finish in the top 10. I'll stick my neck out on that. That's good. Oh, he is in fifth place and uh he is three shots clear of being in the top 10 right now. He does not finish the top 10.
Uh Randy, how far back is too far back?
In my heart of hearts, I feel like if you're not in the final group, you're too far back.
I know. Minus you're too far back. I know.
Minus six is too, or minus five is too far back.
I think God, I love that penultimate group.
I just, I'm going to say, I'll say minus six. It's too far back.
I like that.
Jesus.
Master Sunday is weird guys.
It gets weird.
Sometimes it things happen really quickly when when
everything falls stagnant.
Soft Master Sundays are weird.
I think the pins will be set up a little easier tomorrow. We'll
have some more traditional birdie eagle pins and number six.
And yeah, the six is going to be a big foobar situation. But I
mean, I have to say Bryson's out of it, I guess. But so I have to
say minus three is too far back
But definitely max or Ludwig could win tomorrow
And it wouldn't surprise me if somebody at minus two either Xander cam Davis or Hoyard did something crazy tomorrow
I don't know if they're gonna win but so it gets weird. I would expect it to get a little weird tomorrow
Guys I think I think Ludwig wins I
Think minus four wins it.
I think he just puts his foot on the gas on two and three
and then flips the mo a little bit, maybe one back after that.
And he's made some sloppy errors on 15 both days.
If he just has 15 back both days, that's four shots right there.
He's made two of the worst bogeys I've ever seen on 15 when he was sitting pretty for
birdie. I don't know. I think that experience is adding up and he goes out and plays with
confident, composed, abandoned tomorrow. No scar tissue and goes and gets it done.
Well, let's see what the odds have to say about that.
Final couple, we're winding it down here.
Cody, what do we got for odds tomorrow?
These are courtesy of the FanDuel Sportsbook.
Of course, of course, Randy, odds subject to change.
We've got Scotty Scheffler minus 115, Colin Morikawa plus 350, Max plus 750, and TC is
going to be sprinkling his nuggies on Ludwig at plus 900.
That would be a nice little return.
Bryson plus 2000, Solly, if you want to hedge.
I thought about that.
He's either going to win or not finish in the top 10, one of those two.
Anything standing out from the odd sheet there?
More disrespect for your boy Morikawa. I think it's a good one of those two. Anything standing out from the odd sheet there?
More disrespect for your boy, Morikawa.
I was just going to say if something weird does happen,
I think Xander is positioned to maybe go out and shoot a 67-66,
get in the clubhouse and...
Get around from him today.
You know.
Bogey free.
I think like value-wise...
Listen, I don't...
Good players between...
Yeah, yeah.
No, no. Between Alexander and the between. Yeah. Yeah. No, no, I don't Alexander in the lead
Yeah, blue petite blue petite Alexander. I don't think he's gonna do it I just you know 35 to 1 and he's played pretty good golf this week
You know just a mountain of evidence that he's a little boy. I
Mean it was funny like like Ludwig at 5 10 p.m. I think they're through
14 or 15 holes Ludwig at 5, 10 PM, I think they're through 14 or 15 holes. Ludwig was, Scotty
was plus 220, Ludwig was plus 450, Collin was plus 450, Bryson was plus 500. So, you
know, I think there's some respect there.
There was a
Plus 900 might be a little bit disrespectful, but again, I wish 15 would have gone differently.
There was a moment there after the double, after Scottie's double on 10,
there was a moment to hammer Scottie, I think.
The odds probably were quite favorable.
Randy, I think our guy Big T was all over that one.
He was really hyped about hammering Scottie at that time.
I got one, just to, it's not up there,
but a top 10 play for tomorrow. A non-competitive top 10 from Canada
He's sitting at t13 right now. He played a really good round of golf today
I think he's plus 150 to top 10. That's that was my like, oh, no one looks really nice right now
What about you know another one I might take a look at Chris Kirk shot 68 today
After like really kind of he's gonna to bathe his young son tonight.
Maybe perhaps everything will change overnight. We'll see
your boy Neiman showing some form TC is clawing back into it.
Rory you know in the red numbers. What is uh Rory back
to our top ten? What is Adam Shanks odds to to top ten? Uh
it's a great question.
I can tell you right now TC plus 300.
Shanks Shanks plan about as rock solid as you possibly can.
He's even 73, 71, 72.
You know, plus his game this year.
P is plus 302.
I could see him shooting a 69 70 tomorrow and snagging a top 10.
What do we think Rory does tomorrow? Are we going to get some stolen Valor Yellow on the wiki page?
It bums me out. I don't really want to.
You know where I am. I truly don't care. Truly don't care.
I'm not subscribing to a top 10 tomorrow. I mean, think he probably will top 10. He's not like he's not that far back
Is he and what is he like?
Plus three he's plus three t9 is minus one right now
like yeah, I mean he probably I don't know he'll probably make a
Miniature move, but I'll say yes. I'll say top 10s. I'll stick my neck out. Mm-hmm
Van Dool's got him at plus 450, the top 10.
It's a top 10?
Yeah.
Let's take a look.
Close.
Take a look.
All right, let's bring it home with a couple more menus.
Solly, I think you're up first.
We're gonna hear from Solly,
and let's bring in Jordan too.
Jordan, if you're ready and available, tap in, please do.
Solly, where are we going, my man?
I struggle with this, of course.
I've run around doing a whole bunch of stuff this week.
It hasn't been top of mind necessarily,
but I've managed to sprinkle together
a lot of things from my heritage, of course.
Starting out being born in West Virginia,
I have some pepperoni rolls that'll be coming
from the Almost Heaven Pepperoni Bak, whatever you want to call it
Place that that's gonna be one of our appetizers and the beef jerky might be Dennis and jerk a venison jerky
Tc that couldn't figure out but good the the jerky from the halfway house at a Hoopie
Whoever cooks that will be coming in and preparing that as an appetizer check it out. Solly. It's not cooked
It's cured. There you go. Cured.
Someone will be coming in and curing that. My favorite dish when I was a kid was my mom's
manakati. So we'll be having that as an option for your main course. Also, when I went to visit
this place called South Cape, South Cape Owners Club in Korea, the meal we had there, I was warned it's the best
best meat you'll ever have in your life. And I was like, okay, I'm sure I'm sure it's great meat.
I'm very much looking forward to it. And the moment it hit my tongue, I, it was like, okay,
that's the best meat I've ever had. And so I'll be flying in whoever that chef is from South Cape
Owners Club to prepare the best beef I've ever had and be sharing it with all of my green jacket colleagues.
We have the meat.
And then I just love potatoes au gratin and firecracker Brussels sprouts.
Those are my favorite.
That's my favorite vegetable.
If you get nice crispy Brussels sprouts and then my grandmother's chocolate mousse pie.
She always had one frozen for me whenever I come to visit.
We have the recipe of course as a graham cracker crust.
It's pretty basic recipe, I'm sure, but that was my favorite
and I have a ton of great memories and I'd love to share that with you all.
Sally, quick question. I see the shot of parsley on one of your mains.
Is that a concern at all? I know you don't like green leaves on your food.
I love parsley. I don't like lettuce, TC.
You don't like lettuce covered? No, there will be no salads. That was one
thing I want to call out. I hate salads so much. None of you
will be having salads because I hate them that much and I want
to share that with you all. I love to run into a little
Caesar. Maybe half of the main. Randy, you can always order off
the menu too. No, you will not be ordering off the menu of a
salad. Excuse me. Excuse me. Jordan, where are
you taking us? Are we? Sally, count me in. This sounds great.
I'm in. Jordan, any salads on your menu first and
foremost? Indeed, I'm salad inclusive, okay? Sometimes you
don't want to have something heavy and I'm mindful of those
people. Listen, it's a smorgasbord. It doesn't
make sense. I get it. I almost went all Cuban for this and I was like, I'm feeling a little
adventurous. So I guess we'll start from the right. Yes. A house salad. What I had in mind
is like the Outback one. That one really bangs. I'm not going to lie. I crave that one. Like
at least. No, Maj to Florida. That's right.
Yeah, literally.
Additionally, oh yeah.
Dress and dressing of choice because they're, I personally choose ranch, but some people
like vinegrets.
Some people don't like any dressing.
Like, Hey, the options there for you.
And then I put croquetas de jamon, which is literally like ham croquettes.
We, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we,
we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, Hey, the options are for you. And then I put croquetas de jamon, which is literally like ham croquettes.
It's like, it's basically like ground ham that's fried. It's so good. It's the best. I could eat
like 50 of them. Yeah, so those are your appetizers. We're really going from one end of the healthy
spectrum to the other. But yeah, then we'll move on to a media noche, which is a Cuban sandwich on sweet bread,
basically. Um, that also bags so good. And like I said, you know, try to be inclusive of the people
that didn't want to eat super heavy tonight. You know, you could start with the salad and then
weave in the media noche, or you could just go all in and say, you know what?
I'm gonna eat go get us and I'm gonna have a media not yet and
Perfect question question Jordan the the media noche
Is that just like a Cuban sandwich for us gringos or is this like a little different?
variation of it
It's a very different variation of it has sweet bread instead of standard Cuban bread.
Gotcha. Gotcha. But not sweet breads, right, TC?
Correct. Yeah. Very different. Great call out there. Thank you for confirming.
Yeah. That would be gross if you put it on sweet breads. You know who used to crush Cuban
sandwiches, TC? Our guy Smarten from the 7-Eleven in Winter Park. Just would beat him up.
We used to go to, we could take that offline,
but two Smarten shout outs tonight.
Jordan, do you have that Oreo blondies recipe
maybe you could share offline?
Because I love a good blondie.
I do.
And I was sitting on, listen, I almost went full Cuban
and I almost said I'm going to surf lawn.
But guys, I have been sitting on,
I've had my ingredients out on the counter for Oreo blondies for like two nights now
I've made this recipe before it is amazing
and it I
Just couldn't get my mind off of the Oreo blondie and listen the standard blondies good
It's perfect, but the Oreo one just makes it a little bit better. So you have my attention. Hell. Yeah
the Oreo one just makes it a little bit better. So you have my attention.
Hell yeah.
I'll definitely share.
I'm weighing on this as well.
This sounds great.
It's those Instagram baking videos.
They get you every time.
Hear, hear.
Guys, anything else before we shut it down?
Official pic.
I'm exhausted.
Oh, hold on.
Quick, quick thing.
The big dick daddy from Cincinnati.
I feel bad.
No, my trust was betrayed.
And, and not to throw the help under the bus,
but I think that guy misspelled Cincinnati on the menu.
We just can't have that.
We can't have it.
He said he just, it was a copy and paste
of what you sent him.
No, you think I'm misspelling Cincinnati?
Come on.
I had many, many people from HQs,
global HQs with the Miller Coors Corporation saying DJ we stand
with you Miller Lite has a proud history in Milwaukee we still brew the bulk of our beer
in Milwaukee keep fighting the good fight the you know the headquarters technically
is in Chicago but it's like saying you know Uber one of my one of my favorite Delaware
companies I get to get out of here you guys trying to come at me with that one.
Fucking clowns.
Yeah.
So I won't be participating with any of that.
All right, TC, we know whose boat you're in.
Big, who's gonna win tomorrow?
Fascinating podcast.
Who's gonna win tomorrow?
Stick your neck out.
There we go.
I think Scotty.
Dej?
Scotty.
But God, I want Max to win so bad.
I know.
I said Scotty in the beginning of the week.
I stuck my neck out to start the week.
My neck is still out there.
It's gonna be your back soon. of the week. I stuck my neck out to start the week. My neck is still out there.
It's gonna be back soon. I think Colin's gonna stunt on us in the green pants.
And when? Hell, not all of them. Think about the olive pants. Oh, the olive, the olive. Excuse me. Nah, that's just provocative. Cody? The olive pants, possibly. Yeah, you know, I was all in on
on Scotty. Obviously, I think, you know, everybody in the DFW area, I heard roars from Highland
Park when he finished on 18.
But after KVV said Max's quote, I'm so in on Max.
I think he's cleared out, clear eyes, full hearts.
He's fighting for something tomorrow.
He loves coming from behind.
I think it's our guys. It's incredible to
even say, but there's just so much man. You gotta believe it.
Oh, there's so many. I gotta believe there's so many whiffs
of the RIV stuff and how bad he wanted to win that tournament
and how big that moment was and Tigers influence. Fuck it.
Randy Cody. I'm in. I'll go with you. There we go. Come on.
You're you're flipping me. you're flipping me. I think Max is gonna win.
I, God, I would love to see it.
I would love nothing more.
That's what I'm rooting for, that's for sure.
I promise you that.
I love that.
And of course, Ludwig, who doesn't like Ludwig?
Go watch Tour of Sauce.
I mean, the fact that he played with us
like a year and a half ago and now he's, you know.
The only thing we don't have is.
Contending with the Masters is nuts.
Guns up, baby. We don't really have anyone that I truly don't want to win up there. I mean, it's like a year and a half ago and now he's you know,
the only thing we don't have
is we don't really have anyone
that I like truly don't want to
win up there. I mean, yeah,
Bryson. I'm not your boy.
You should see if I'm good at
Bryson. What it would be. Uh it
would kind of stick though. No
way Jose. Yeah. guys. It you know, we we're we're getting close to the end of Masters Week.
So, he's close to going to sleep, but I know he needs to get food first.
Appreciate everything that you and KVV do on behalf of this show.
We're going to be right back here tomorrow and I'm pumped for it.
