Be the right club.
Be the right club today.
That's better than most.
How about him?
That is better than most.
Better than most.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the note laying up live show podcast presented, as
always by our friends.
The title is coming to you live from on site here at the United States.
Women's Open presented by Ally here at Rivier, a country-cold.
but dream come true for these two to my right.
The one closest to me is Mr. Big Randy.
Hello, Big.
How are you?
I am excellent.
Solly,
I guess I can take off my media credential here.
If you didn't know,
I had it inside the ropes access today.
Your boy is living.
TC is here.
First ever time at Riviera.
Did it meet the hype?
It did.
It did.
The course, the setting.
I think the creams rising to the top.
the setup, all of it. We'll talk about it all, but 10 out of 10 for me.
It's off to a great start. And of course, tonight's show is actually going to be coming,
the first few segments here are going to be coming commercial free, ad free by our friends
at Title is the number one ball at the U.S. Women's Open. They snuck that one in there.
You know, teeny, teeny tiny ad. But thank you to them for letting us get right to the show.
Randy, I'm starting with you. Biggest storylines of the week. If someone's just trying to get
caught up, maybe hasn't had a chance to watch. Shame on you. First of all,
It's been incredible evening viewing.
A lot of coverage from sun up to sun down.
But heading into the weekend, get people caught up.
Where are we at the halfway point here?
We're in a great spot.
I would say forward-looking.
Tune in.
As T.C. just said, the cream is rising to the top.
We have some excellent names up there on the leaderboard.
I would say maybe the biggest story, naturally, Nellie Korda,
we're interested in how she is doing.
She won the first major of the year at the Chevron about a month plus ago.
struggled a little bit in round one, but answered the bell today with a 67.
She has herself at two under par overall right in the thick of things.
I'd argue in an excellent place heading into the weekend.
So I won't step on all the top storylines, but I would say Nellie, running in,
we have a very good board developing.
And I think credit to the venue and the tests that these women have faced thus far, T.C.
And credit to Nellie, Gino, LC.
Some fight.
Yeah, they've seen some grit, some metal, some bottle.
Proper play.
Big Saturday and Sunday coming up for some of these ladies.
And you know what?
I would say big Saturday, Sunday coming up for L.A. as well.
Get your asses out here.
It's time, people.
It's time.
And we need some cheer.
We need some like recognition of good shot.
I had Shaq all worked up today.
Jeff Shackleford.
Jeff Shackleford, not Shaquil.
Yeah, it was all worked.
DeShack would have been equally upset.
You know, Hannah Green had this unbelievable shot out of the right rough to the front right pin on number five.
And they were just like a smattering.
A smattering.
He's like, that's an unbelievable shot.
Where's the applause?
These people don't know it.
Scottish fans would have been.
They would have been going nuts all over.
St. Louis Cardinals fans would have been appreciating that.
It's been a solid crowd.
It's just kind of a muted atmosphere, which honestly lines up with what I feel like I've seen at the Genesis as well.
I never feel like it's kind of a rock.
atmosphere out there. But, you know, there was a there was a throng of people out there with
the feature group in the afternoon. And I think, hopefully the numbers are good this weekend
because the tickets are available, affordable, and the viewing is next, it's the best, it's one of
the best, I've never been to a tournament here. I've been here a couple times, but never been to a
tournament. And it's one of the easiest spots to go watch a tournament, especially when you get
kind of out into that far part of the property, you know, 16 greens that's right over there by
six, seven and eight are very good viewing spots. Five is.
great. Four is great. You can dart over to the back nine. If you need to. It's a man, it's just a
primo, primo venue. And I feel like, I'm really glad we came out and saw it in person because
there's just so much to the details of the golf shots that are required, so much to the nuance of
the whole locations. I've been kind of, you know, you know, I'm going to nerd out about this stuff,
looking over at the shot charts and just seeing how few birdies are coming from the rough. First
of all, the women don't hit it in the rough very often. But just how proper.
proper everything is playing in terms of the scale.
Everything we've wanted Riviera to be for the women, I feel like is on full display.
Yeah.
I mean, that's kind of what I was alluding to.
Riviera is providing the canvas, the test that these women are going through.
I just, we had circled this one specifically, Sully, I think, when news first broke about
Riviera.
And through two days, I just am in love with how this golf course is and how it's
playing and as you said, I followed Ronning Yin most of the day and two of her par stand out to me.
Long par fours, 13 and 15, she missed the fairway on each one.
And with where the pin is and you're not going to spin the ball coming out of the rough,
like on 15, she had 190 yards in for a second shot.
You just have to play to the fat part of the green.
You have to take your medicine and it left her with, I don't know, a 50 foot two putt,
which was not easy.
She converted it,
but it just requires a lot of patience.
And it's, you know, when you can drive it in the fairway,
there are certain points where you really get the green light.
But then other times it's just survive.
Just take your par and move on.
And I just, it's a wonderful test of golf.
I mean, we're going to get into it.
I just love how this course is playing.
The round one lead was five under par.
The round two lead in the clubhouse is four under par.
That's a great sign in my opinion.
And I think they can keep pushing the course a little bit,
keep tucking those pins.
It's going to be a real, real test this weekend.
17 players under par at the halfway point,
and only 12 of them are two under par or more right now.
And there's legitimate downside risk outside of just simple,
sloppy bogeys.
I mean, you saw Minji League almost completely eject from the
proceedings today go from first page of the leaderboard to the last page of those making the
cut she also hit one of my favorite shots of the day that up and down she had on 10 she's long
way left of 10 and spun one hit this low spinner out of the rough and granted she had the upslope
to land it into but i let out an audible audible sound uh when i saw that would check up at hold
because you got to watch a lot of 10 today you had a you had a nice little spot up there 10 was so
cool uh not reachable today and i think that's worth noting through two rounds
They kind of made it.
The T's were back.
They made it more of a two-shot hole, probably for pace of play reasons.
They heard Gabby Lopez.
I know.
I know.
Oh, God.
The pin was, if you can imagine that that slender green, if you're looking at the green
from the fairway, let's say, that pin is like back, far right, tucked.
And so the play was off the T.
You know, you're trying to play left and to kind of give yourself that second shot
face onto the flag.
It was just fascinating.
I sat there for 10 groups, so however long that was,
Neri a group had three balls on the putting surface,
not one of those 10 groups.
Neri a group. What a phrase.
I saw, I saw Tamburlini's group had just as many bunker shots as they did
putts. I think as a group, they had four bunker shots and four total puts.
I saw Amy, Amy Lee, I hate to call her out by name, the amateur from South Korea.
She hit every single one of the Greenside bunkers.
I saw many women go from one to the other.
Amy was the only one that hit all three.
Is there like a stamp that you get when you go to each one?
Yeah, there should be.
Lucy Lee hit the shot of when I was out there.
She stuck her wedge to about a foot and a half and made birdie.
It just was a fantastic hole,
and I think it was playing a lot different than we see it at the Genesis.
And for that reason, it reminded me of why I think,
like when we were younger, I think the 10th hole at RIV had a lot of juice as like one of the best short par fours in the world.
And I think there was a little bit of variety in how the men attacked it.
And today, while there wasn't a ton of variety off the tea, just watching the forced wed shot from, let's say, 50 to 100 yards,
the precision required to hold that green was just exquisite.
It was a real test for being a 300-yard hole.
and you know that's the type of golf I just love I had such a good time sitting there in the grandstand if you come out here there's a
awesome grandstand right there at 10 green I would encourage you to spend time there bring your sunscreen
bring your sunscreen I was baking once the the cloud cover wore off as many times I've watched this hole on TV I still got to like just right of 10 as like it was coming up I cut over through nine and just like
Jesus man like I don't know if I've ever seen this I've been there in person before I've never seen that angle of the green and where they had that whole location today too
How good does it feel to have spent what you watch 10 groups come through?
And I think as soon as you left,
Shuri Sukuma hold out to that pin.
Like landed it just past it,
spun it back up the hill and hold out.
I watched just enough golf on that hole to,
I could not have fathomed seeing that shot in person.
No, I heard the massive applause.
I was like,
oh,
come on H.
How about H.J. Kim?
H.A. Kim in the middle of the fairway,
plugs it in the front right bunker.
And then it was like,
I watched her do a lap around the green.
was like, all right, I'm playing into the back bunker intentionally.
I was surprised by, you know, if you could hit the fairway,
but if you were right of that like aiming bunker off the T,
so if you're on the right side of the fairway,
the angle to get at that flag was just non-existent.
You were literally trying to land the ball in like a saucer.
And I was surprised nobody really tried to play just safe to the front left part of the green,
take their medicine and just take your two puds and walk away with a par.
I mean, H.J was a little bit that way.
Tried to get after that pin.
Just didn't have the angle.
It plugged.
And I think she walked off there with double.
It ended up being double.
Yeah, you could just watch these car crashes happening in slow motion.
It was extraordinary.
I think it was 17 or 19 doubles on the 10th hole alone today.
19 doubles, 17 birdie, something like that.
And then tomorrow we'll probably see a totally different hole.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Probably bump it up.
Solly, we were out there looking at, we were assessing the situation a little bit of
hey you know what they should put the the the the the T on 10 over on 3 T
you play it from the make them angle farther from the right it actually gets
potentially a more interesting hole you got to you got to kind of hit over nine
green to do that unfortunately but that's fine that's fine who who you have the scatter
plot up here who made who went long of the flag today that white that's uh Kedron
Kedron Nova she hits it hard I've seen her hit a couple shots and Maya drove it over the
green yesterday.
Maya, has Maya been doing,
Maya Stark out of it, that is it,
she's been doing speed training or something.
She's absolutely mashing the ball.
I don't remember, she won the US,
she won this event last year.
I don't remember her being like a,
one of the, you know,
I don't know what the numbers actually say,
but on some of these holes she's just hitting the ball in places that the rest
of the field is not hitting them.
It's crazy.
I was curious what,
uh,
Julia Ramirez Lopez,
what if she hit driver off the tee.
And I was kind of,
I saw Astrich's tally come through.
I kind of thought she might try to pump driver up there.
She,
she hits the,
shit out of the ball. I think she hit it left
on seven or
seven or eight. What's the one? Oh, the
split fair way. Yeah. I think she was one of the few
people to go left. Yeah.
It is. I
would really imagine they'll push the
T's up and make that more of a
drivable for tomorrow, which would be fun.
Probably a probably good time to mention
the leaderboard. If we, if we
haven't. All right. Look, we're excited.
All right. If is awesome. I know.
It's so good. God, I love this
Gordon.
Allison Lee is tied for the lead with Ronnie Yinn.
Allison Lee, I mean, that's incredible from Allison Lee.
This is, you know, Bethann Nichols had a couple of tweets about this and pictures about this,
but she has a 13-month-old son.
She would be the first.
Did you see this stat who the last mother was to win the U.S. Women's Open?
Well, I saw on Beth Ann's tweet.
It was 25 years ago.
So 2001, I do not know who that is offhand.
I believe it was Julie Inkster.
the last mom to win the U.S. Women's Open,
which is just a crazy thing to think about.
I mean, there's some, you know,
a lot of those storylines going on.
Madeline Saksstrom is, of course,
playing the U.S. Women's Open seven months pregnant.
So shout out to her.
I saw her out there.
It just looks like really hard work.
And I truly salute you.
I don't know how you're doing it.
It's so, so impressive.
I can barely get up there.
I know.
My wife had a very, she doesn't ask for you,
for much when I go on these road trips where she was like,
you have to give Madeline a message for me.
Tell her to chill the fuck out.
She's making the rest of us look bad by playing seven months pregnant.
I text to my wife.
I'm like, hey, Alison Lee, she had her son.
13 months ago, I was like, you have nine months to, you know,
get in shape when the U.S. open.
Best of luck.
She did not appreciate that.
Inji Chin,
Jennifer Cupcho, Hanako Shibuno,
who has kind of become a horse for horse for,
Horse for Course or Monster for Sponsor, I guess, for the U.S. Women's Open.
Her last 25 events, she's not at a top 10.
You know what her last top 10 was?
The U.S. Women's Open 2025.
That's insane.
Who's the men's version of that?
It just shows up on like the, I guess, kind of Louis Oostazen.
Blocky?
Yeah.
Oh, God.
Junju Yu is also at T3, so is Gabby Lopez and Seyong Kim as well.
Angie Chun, a past winner of this event.
Jennifer Cup Show. She
won the A&A
when it was the Chevron or when it was the
It might have been the Chevron. It was the last one played
in California at Mission Hills. I forget
if it was, I think it was maybe the
Chevron then. Hanako Shibuna
The Smiling Cinderella. She won
at Woburn when they had the US
Women's Open there, 2019, I think. The first
time she'd ever played outside of Japan.
She won that tournament. She's
awesome. She had like a, when she got introduced
on the first T, just did like
several respectful bows, one to the course, one to the crowd.
I'm really glad to see her playing good golf again.
T.C., you need to start bowing to the course on the first T.1.
The first T.N. 18th green. Yeah, yeah.
Say Young Kim in that group at T3 as well, she bogeyed the last to fall down to minus three,
but she is, she's won the KPMG women's PGA before. So,
Ronnie Yen won the KPMG women's PGA as well. So I'm counting one, two,
three, four, five major champions in the top eight.
In the top three, I should say, of the eight people that are there in the top three.
And no fakers.
Like there's nobody.
It's impossible.
Literally impossible.
You can't fake your way around here.
You know, Cassie Alexander, no offense to her.
I would be shocked if she's on the front page.
She's part of that contingent then at T9, two under par.
Yeah.
You want to keep going.
We got some real horses starting at two under.
Some friendlies at two under par.
One of them shot three under a day.
that's Lauren Coglin. Of course, we saw a fair amount of her round today.
Just a, I can't tell you how, she's one shot off the lowest round of the day,
which we're going to get to here shortly as well.
But just playing with supreme confidence was so good over those five to eight foot puts
that we've sweated for many years, watching her and following her very closely.
She just doesn't look stressed over those.
And I can't, that's one of those things that I'm, again, very glad we were here in person,
just to see the reminder of what those look like in person,
what the pace is that you have to hit those putts.
You cannot ram them and take breakout like you normally can at a normal week-to-week stop.
And I was trying to think of a way to phrase this or way to word this.
And maybe it just comes with like the memories I have of when you see those red USGA flags with the black and white pins.
The ball just always wants to take that extra 18-inch roll.
Like it always wants to do something a little bit extra.
And it's almost always working away from the hole and getting in and watching several groups play several holes
and watching how constant that is.
Like what Nellie's been able to do
from mid-range putting distance
and like saving it.
It's several mediocre-ish shots
from longish range,
both with chips and with putts.
And that's the only thing,
only concern,
I guess I have of what I've seen out of Nellie so far
is I don't want to say it's unsustainable putting
from around six feet.
She just put a lot of pressure on the putter
for those U.S.
Open PARs to this point.
I would like to see the pars
start to get a little easier for this weekend.
That's nitpicking the round of the day
that she just played. I think they will. It seems like her game key to green is trending in the
right direction. Her stats were solid across the board today. And I think if I had to guess,
I think Saturday she puts less pressure on the putter. I mean, it was of a gas pedal round of
golf. It was I am the best player in the world. I'm going to play like it today. There were times
yesterday. We didn't get to do a show yesterday, but followed her for a lot of the day yesterday.
she kept missing right with driver kept missing right with driver you know her caddy jason is kind of
in her ear as they're in the right rough on 18 about a swing feel i couldn't quite make out what he was
saying but there was you know that's a big spot for a caddy to be given the number one player in
the world some swing thoughts or swing uh you know critiques they're they're kind of talking through
it making it out what to do she kind of changed her routine after that like she was doing this
kind of little one-handed uh thing and in some of her practice swings she changed her routine a little bit
about it was kind of the vertical drop horizontal tug which we can get to that
storyline as well but then she teased off on two yesterday blows it in the right rough and
i mean is i think the tv cameras picked it up like she just looked right at her cabbion she
goes what the fuck am i doing and she was fighting it in cincinnati the last time she teed
up a few a few weeks ago so this is not out of out of the blue and yeah i'm glad we didn't
write the story right then because i think that's right then that story was like man does this
tournament is this tournament in her head here we go again with her and gino
Yeah. And she had famously LeBron sent her shoes. She changed out of those shoes after five holes on her opening nine because she was slipping, I believe. You had even a third pair of shoes on today, different pair of shoes. But gosh, she hit so many great shots today. Birded the holes. She was supposed to. Bert got both the par fives on the back and flex the distance advantage she has on both of those holes. And yeah, I big, big spot for this weekend, man. Big spot. T9 can seem.
somewhat far back, but she's two shots off the lead,
and there's only, you know,
only two players at minus four as well.
She's right back in this,
and there's so much golf left to play.
She was eight shots off the lead being in the day,
and she's two shots off the lead now.
Like, what's the true lead?
I would say minus two, right?
You're saying, do you think that's where you need to be to win?
No, I don't think that's like, just kind of looking at who's,
you know, who's up top.
The cup show kind of scuffled today.
I would say Ronnie's probably the one that I would be most worried about if I was Nelly right now.
Ronnie went bogey free today.
The only player in the afternoon wave, it gets more difficult in the afternoon as the wind picks up a little bit.
Very, very impressive round of golf for her.
So yeah, I think Ronnie is absolutely legit.
And then, you know, Inji Chun has won three majors.
Like, I don't think we can discount her.
The rest, it's like, yeah, let's.
Let's see what you got this weekend.
Say Young Kim had it going, kind of limped in, coming in,
but a couple of squirly little shots that she had,
but she was,
I thought she was going to be just kind of almost running away with this
and having a two or three shot lead.
It looked like pretty early on.
She was right behind the Ronnie Yinn and Gabby Lopez group,
and they spent a ton of time behind them with their hands on their hips waiting to play.
Yeah, she was kind of putting the four corners offense.
I was just going to say real quickly, you know, one of the best things about this week, the USGA has shot link data.
Nelly, you know, it had, I think, had we said like through two rounds she was going to be, let me just get the right page here.
She's only gained like 0.3 shots approach and finds herself in a great position.
I guess, is the iron play good enough?
Is she too reliant?
Because you look at her around the green today.
her putting has been excellent.
Is that, do you feel more optimistic because of that?
Or is it like, oh, we got to start hitting the ball a little bit more solidly?
It, we got to hit a little bit more solidly.
Gosh, this is the part where I feel, you know, super, always super uncomfortable weighing in.
But I was out there watching it.
I felt this in the moment, right?
I saw her catty Jason flash a two signal over to Bones.
When they got to the par 314th, it was playing 152 yards when,
two would mean seven iron. And I was like, man, that kind of feels like too much club.
And she blocks it right, which usually when you have a right miss,
ball's going to come up short. And she went over the green to the right.
Stopped on the fringe, but it just didn't seem like the right club.
He gets to 16. It was 143 yards. He flashes three, which is eight iron.
Joju Kim was also hitting eight iron. And I was like, man, I just,
that feels like nine. It felt like nine. And she had a great shot right at the pin.
And it went right over the pin and went long and just left her a punch.
She had to be really defensive on breaking big time from left to right.
So that's a small example of just that just didn't seem like she's still fighting a little bit of something.
Like it's not all the way there.
She drove it so much better today.
I don't know exactly what the stroke is gain say, but she looked decisive and committed off the tee, reaching straight for driver and did not.
She missed right on 12 and she missed way left on 13, hit a tree and bounced back out into the fairway.
But she battled back and made par from there.
It was way better driving.
That's probably what's going to help her win.
but I would like to see the iron play cleaned up just a little bit more.
But it's also the other side of the coin is like the shots require a level of precision
and accuracy and spin control that I did see on seven today,
wrote that one down.
It was a front pin on seven downwind and not a lot of players were getting very close to that one.
And it looked like she went at something hard,
harder than I usually see her hit a short iron,
threw it way up in the air with a ton of spin,
held it, stuffed it in there inside six feet and made birdie at that one.
And that was like, number one, I'm the best player in the world.
I'm going to pull this off in a way that others are not going to be able to pull off.
And I want to see more of that over the weekend.
She, just to put a bow on this, through two rounds, Nelly is 11th in strokes gained off the T.
She is 14th in putting and only 57th in approach play, her iron play.
So if she finds a feel this weekend, it could be, it might get late early.
One thing that I was impressed with here at RIV is how much better the green scene?
this time of the year versus in February.
Like you know, watching Nelly Putt, really confident strokes, going in the middle of the hole.
It just doesn't seem like the kind of putting that you would see your day to day at Genesis.
And this, I'm going straight off memory and I didn't see her an entire round.
I think she missed one putt inside of 10 feet today.
If I was, she had a short birdie look.
I think that was today.
I can't remember if that was today or yesterday.
Oh yeah, she had a really good birded look on four.
Had a great shot in there on the par three.
And that's the only put.
And she made a lot of those men again.
But I just,
I hesitate about leaving yourself that many to get there.
It's just stressful.
It's exhausting.
There's a reason why the scores are in there.
There hasn't been that much win.
Like a minus four lead right now and only 18 players under par without much win.
Like there's been a little bit of a wind and breeze out there.
It's a wind too that's like really consistent.
Yeah.
It's just coming straight up the canyon.
No gusts or anything.
like that. It's just, it's just constant, but, you know, probably seven miles an hour.
Nothing crazy. It's been a great couple days here on site at the U.S. Women's Open.
We are excited to be here with our friends at Allied Bank. Incredible atmosphere out here all week.
One thing that has stood out has been the energy there is around this championship, not just on the
course inside the ropes, but around the entire event. That's something Ally has really leaned
into with their support of women's sports. We spent some time last night at the Ally House
there in Santa Monica. It felt like a great extension of the championship.
itself. There were a bunch of fans there, creators, athletes, partners, golf people, non-golf
people, just a really fun, vibrant atmosphere centered around the momentum that women's sports
continues to build right now. That's a huge part of what Ally has consistently tried to do with these
collaborations, not simply sponsor events, but help elevate the overall experience around them
and invest in the communities that form around these sports. And as Ally continues to be a leader in the
space of women's sports, they also want to ensure that fans are able to save for the big moments and not
miss out on the sporting events we all love.
Love. Ally was built around the idea that banking should be easier, more intuitive, and more supportive of the way people actually manage their lives, whether that's saving for the future, planning for major life moments, or simply having tools that are easier to use day to day. Big thanks to Ally for
this championship, supporting women's sports in such a meaningful way and supporting our coverage as well throughout the week. Visit ally.com to learn more banking built for life today. Allied Bank, member FDIC.
We got to do a little stage show there, and it was just great.
Big shout out to the people that came out.
Love chatting with some folks.
That was really enjoyable evening.
Yeah, we had Julie Fowdy and Abby Wambach were there.
We're here from the Welcome to the Party podcast as well.
We had a fun little chipping contest.
We've seen some of our...
Solie whipped Abby Wombach.
Well, she had you, Randy.
It was kind of unfair.
Your catch radius is like 16 feet.
He was chipping like ping pong balls,
and I was trying to catch him in these little minis.
any basketball hoops.
God, we were stunting on them,
Sally.
She called it a Battle of Sexes.
They did the podcast
with Billy Jean King as well.
And I was like,
man,
the Battle of the Sexes had a long run
of like 50 years of,
I don't want to lose this one.
We just set back the movement.
Yeah,
I was like,
I'm not trying to lose this one
and be made an example of here for,
you know,
for 50 years here,
like John McAroof.
Sorry.
Sorry,
I had to do it to.
Any other name sticking out?
Performances to stick out,
highlights,
low lights.
Where do you guys want to go next?
I got one.
Very disappointed.
Hannah Green's performance today.
Oh, it was ugly.
I thought she was going to lift and separate today, heading into tomorrow,
and just hits it really high and kind of has the proper game to play here.
And it just didn't materialize.
And yeah, it was just kind of weird.
Was that like the best or the worst 73 ever?
It looked like 81.
Exactly.
And it didn't like, it wasn't like she made a ton of putts either.
I mean, her floor, that was her floor in on this golf course.
And she is popular in Los Angeles.
She had the most, like, I thought
like there were more people out there cheering for her than there were for
Nellie. They were playing in the same group.
She's, of course, won the L.A. championship three times,
two different courses, and has
quite a bit of popularity around here.
But, man, she was low energy today.
You know, she plays so quick.
And when she is playing well, that makes a ton of sense.
And when she's playing poorly, it just felt like she kept pulling the trigger
three seconds before she should.
And the shots just kept going haywire, just,
I can't believe she only made four bogeys today.
It felt like she made 19 bogeys, I think, in today's round.
Well, 19 bogeys would have been impressive.
It's what it felt like.
More bogeys than than holes she played.
I was out there.
I was not following Hannah's group,
and I was catching up on our Slack communications.
And I was literally expecting her to have shot like 79 today.
I come in and I see shot 73.
I'm like, what the hell?
The stats hated her off the T today.
Oh, it was a 35th.
But she ranked today.
ranked fourth and strokes gained approach
a plus 2.7. What? Yeah.
Bad short game
looks like didn't
chip it well. She did hit a couple
good shots from the rough.
Sally, we remember. We've got a couple amateurs
in the
top 25. Just closing the loop
on Hannah, I would say like I
walked away more impressed
and Brian Rosillo take here. I actually walked away more
impressed from Hannah of like
for how bad it looked. That was just
like, I don't know how to say that, but like
a reminder of how high someone's floor is and how good of a player they actually are when they
looks like they can't actually play worse. And you see what Menjee Lee did and you see what other
players did today. So it's actually a compliment to Hannah to say how bad you played today.
Well, I was going to say if this is her bad round, she's only five off the league.
I know. She is in this championship.
Sorry, TC. You were saying.
No, I was just going to shout out the amateurs. We've got three of them at T-22.
We've got Keira Romero, Afro-Dadi Deng, and.
Maria Jose Marin.
All at T-22 and all right in the thick of this thing.
Plus one, I mean, I think we could probably do how far back is too far back.
I don't think the conditions are going to get crazy.
I think it's just going to get incrementally harder.
It seems like plus one, outside shot, plus two, you're probably too far back.
That seems right.
Plus one is tied for 22nd, but only five shots back.
plus two is T-37, and that is six shots back.
I'm looking for a name that I feel threatened by at plus two,
and I don't know that I see it.
Ayaka-Food-way, I wouldn't count her out at plus two.
She can go on runs, but I think it's probably,
I would say plus two is too far back.
What about your pick to win Roseang?
Who's at plus three?
Who did I actually pick in the preview?
I don't remember who I picked.
I pulled a T-C and I abandoned it.
my pick. I don't remember what I did. You've picked Rose Zhang about six times in the last 18 hours.
Well, look, she's still, she's still there. I know. I got caught up by she was playing well yesterday. I got put on the spot. I weirdly don't love anybody at two over, but I would say like Minji Lee at three over.
Now Charlie hot. Like I don't have a ton of confidence, but you know, could they go out and shoot a 68 tomorrow and get in the top 50? You know, it's possible. I don't think they're going to win. I think one over is kind of where you have to be right now.
now. Yeah. Where did
what's the name I'm looking
for here? Where did Gino end up?
What is she? She's level. She's
okay. She's even par which is T-17. She's
even, she's there with Brooke Henderson, Somi Lee
and Carrie Davidson. Carrie Davidson or
Carrey Davidson? Carrey Davidson?
That looks like a silent ass. I don't know why. Janet Lynn
is there as well.
Important round for Gino today. She went out
round one shot two over
par and we needed to see something
today, T.C. I did. I mean,
I'm not sure we're declaring, you know, it's not hang the mission accomplished banner,
but it was a step in the right direction.
Correct.
It was, yeah, it was, uh, it was some grit.
It was some, some, just, we just needed to see a little bit of like, your backs
against the wall, do you have it or not?
Yeah.
You know, and it kind of punted a little bit to tomorrow, but massive weekend shaping up.
Yeah, big weekend for Gino.
How did Tavatana gets sitting there at one under par as well.
I don't know if we mentioned her Nassahatooka.
is there, Alison Corpus had a pretty interesting day.
Quietly.
She was, yeah, she bogeed.
She started on the back, bogeed 11, shot 39 on the back, and then clean car on the front, 31.
Yeah, kind of just a strange round of golf.
She won at Pebble.
I'm not saying she is going to win, but I don't think we should ignore Allison.
Who is going to win?
Who is your pick to win here at the halfway point?
I like Ronning.
But it's so hard.
to hold a lead for this long.
I love where Nellie is.
And kind of just the, you know,
she's in that drafting pocket.
She's,
she's just conserving energy.
I actually do like Nelly.
I'll tell you I like,
I like L.C.
Hell yeah.
Wow.
I think,
I don't know,
it just seems like maybe she didn't have the best stuff.
And she just,
she just stuck her nose in it.
And the putter looks good.
She's,
she took down Nellie head to head in Vegas earlier.
this year on a really difficult golf course i mean i would love that don't get me wrong
who do you have solie who are you leaning to you had me all hyped up on on meta world peace yen
or ronnie in uh calling her ron ron ron ron's like calling her tronald yin we've got a lot of nickn
i like meta world peace yin meta world yin uh major champion 23 years old i feel like we've
maybe forgot about her just a teeny tiny bit um you you you gave her one of the highest
compliments you can give a player today.
I mean, she made a bunch of U.S. Open PARs.
That's what I'm looking for out of a player.
Old-fashioned U.S. Open prize. Before the U.S.
you went woke.
No, she really did.
It just,
she drove, she didn't drive the ball that well.
She said that in her post-round comments,
but she just, she hits her iron
so well. And I think it was
always a question of how is the putter
going to be? She,
when she's putting well,
she is truly world-class.
And this week so far, she's putting it well.
I just, she's going to be there, I feel like.
I feel very confident in that.
Have you, oh my goodness.
Whoa, what a surprise this is.
I dialed up a guest for it.
I didn't know this.
We potentially have a guest.
We got a car wash breaking out.
They brought a lot of beverages.
The woman that is sitting in T-9 currently of this championship,
Lauren Cogling, surprise
Halfway Moment guest. I did not know
this was happening. The producers of
this show did not let us know, but welcome. How are we
usually we save our phone calls for Sunday night
after a W, but how are you?
Great. Tell us about Riviera so far. How's the course? We've just been
singing its praises. How is it to play?
I mean, it's pretty pure, if yes.
I played it a couple years ago.
Yeah, close and close and project.
I played it a couple years ago.
One of my sponsors is a member here.
And so it was a lot of fun kind of seeing the differences from when I played it a couple years ago on a Monday.
So like all the par threes are on temp greens.
I did learn that today.
I was going to make a joke about that.
And like 10 was on a temp green.
So I didn't get to play 10.
But I played really well when I played a couple years ago.
And I was hitting it super good.
And I think I didn't chip until the 18th.
And I remember just being like, I need to practice shipping a lot on this grass.
But yeah, I mean, it's great.
I feel like it's pretty straightforward T-D-D-Green in the sense that like it's not a lot of like,
it doesn't take a rocket science just to be like, okay, you need to hit it here.
You need to hit it here.
But you have to really miss in the right spots around the greens to give yourself the best
opportunity to make par, worst case bogey.
Take me to like Monday through Wednesday.
What was preparation for this golf course like?
And, you know, I always say like when you put those USGA,
flags out there. The green just start to look a little bit more slick. Like you can recognize a
USGA green. It just looks a little different than what you probably see week to week. What was the
learning process like of whole locations and kind of what the work looked like in the early part of the
week? Yeah, like I said, I knew it was pretty straightforward like T to Green. So I wasn't really
too focused on that part of it. I mean, it hit a little bit out of the rough just to kind of get a feel
for how it might do. You can kind of, I felt like you could kind of see there were certain sides of
the fairways that were better than others. And so again, just missing in the right spots if you were
going to air anyway. But I did a lot of chipping, like a lot, a lot of chipping just out of the
kakuya and stuff and trying to get a feel for it. And again, there's certain spots around the
greens that are better than others. And so just trying to avoid the ones that aren't like too bad or
that are really, really bad that. What's the no-goes that come to mind? What are the top ones?
They're like, dude, I will, you will not find me there. Like short right of 10.
Short right of one.
Short right of one.
Especially to like a front pin.
I've gone left both times just because it's a lot easier over there than it is like short right.
Get a little bit of a crowning on one today, if I may say.
You got crowned over there on the last a little bit.
I mean, did you see where my ball landed in the fairway and ended up?
I mean, it kicked hard, like dead left.
It landed in the fairway.
That's true.
When you pulled your second shot, though, you were pointing left and I was worried.
about that one. And then I looked up and you made birdie. I'm like, oh, okay. Well, I saw it.
And we're just going at some people, but it was always going to be fine. Yeah.
I mean, I had like two 35 front. So it wasn't like it was going to be going too bad. Let me get my jokes in. Come on. We were just discussing like a U.S. Open par, right? That, you know, maybe you missed the fairway. You're hacking out the rough. You got to play to the fat part of a green. You got a difficult two put. What, what did you make any U.S. open pars today? What, what stands out? Not today, but yesterday. I made a U.S. Open boat.
gogy on 10.
Take us there.
As much time as you have.
Yeah.
So I hit it really left off the T,
which was fine,
obviously in the rough.
I had to take a drop from the car path.
And then I kind of tugged it a little bit.
And I hit in the left bunker.
Sure.
But like just in it.
And I was kind of on a downslope and I had a pretty big
clump of sand behind my ball.
And yeah,
I left it in the bunker.
And then I chipped it to about,
I don't know,
like 12-ish feet or so.
And I made it for.
boge which kind of kept my round going i think honestly can i ask what's it will sound like a dumb question
did you leave in the bunker on purpose i wouldn't say on purpose but i definitely didn't want to go
long in the green and so i was trying to like hit it into the like fringe and hope that it would just like
get up but there was a lot more sand than i thought um and yeah i just hit but i was again i was
really going for the like this is not going long right of this pin because i think there are times on 10
where you would leave it in the bunker on purpose.
Yeah.
If you like, I watched Joju when she was like, I had struggled to take her club back.
And I, she was just already in the other side of the bunker.
And I was like, we're not going back long.
What if it stays in and I'm on the upslope, it could be okay there.
But that's just not a lot of golf holes in the world make you think like that.
I was going to say, how, like, how uncomfortable are you playing 10?
I literally hit it to like the front part of the green today because I was like,
I'm just not comfortable missing anywhere on this thing.
And so I had like a 60 footer.
And I was like, I'm just going to try to two.
put this for par. Like I hit a lot of putts from like the front part to the back in the practice
round. I sat there for 10 groups and I saw nobody do that. And I was telling these guys before,
I was shocked. Some of the positions off the tee, I'm shocked more people didn't just play to
that fat front part of the green and try to take a two putt. I literally had 97 yards, which normally
is like a like a fine number for my 54 degree. And I was like, I'm just going to hit a really hard
58 and if it gets back there
close enough, cool, but if not
I'm going to have a putt at least.
Yeah.
What,
this is your first made cut at a U.S.
Women's Open, I think.
What has,
what has stopped you in the past from success
at this tournament?
What's been different this week so far?
Just being okay with making a lot of parts.
I think it's been like a big thing.
And I mean, yesterday even I made like,
I had a,
I missed a bunch of fairways kind of to start the round yesterday,
but I was making a lot.
I got a lot of good lies.
the rough and I was able to kind of get it either on the green or in some spots that I knew
it could get up and down and I had a lot of like stress-free pars and I just kind of kept telling
myself like pars are good pars are good like pars are never bad this week like if you can sign
for even par at the end of the week like you're probably going to be top 10 more likely than not
and so I kind of just was like all right I'm just like okay with that and then I made a couple bogeys
but I knew there was like some getable holes out there like you just have to really take advantage
of the par fives out here especially.
I feel like it's not,
there's a couple holes,
but overall it's not super hard to make par
at a lot of the holes,
but it can be really easy to like make bogey.
And so just trying to make a lot of pars
and then trying to take advantage of the par fives.
Would you take 36 pars from here on out all the way to the end?
Yes.
Would you take 72, 72?
No, I don't think so.
That's interesting.
Do you think two under par will be good enough for a playoff,
or to win by the end of it, all of it.
I don't know.
I'm interested to see how firm it gets tomorrow.
I think we, John and I talked about it, like,
I think they just want to get everybody around, right?
So it's not going to be super,
but obviously I think they can get it as firm as they want it out here.
So it'll be kind of interested to see how it gets tomorrow.
I think, well, I would be curious.
Did they alert you guys at all during any practice rounds about what they might do with 10?
Did you guys practice for many uptees?
I would assume at least one of the days,
if not both the days this weekend,
we're going to see an up tee on 10.
Yeah, but it was like, it's like 250 front.
And so it's like for me, I carry it like 2.35, 240, and I can't carry that left bunker.
And so I don't know if, at least for me, I was like, I don't know if I'll go for it.
Just because like, I want to be long left.
That's where I would like to be for any pin.
And if I can't get there, then I don't really know if it's any point.
But I don't know if they're going to move it up to that's kind of where they had it in the practice round.
They had like a T up that were.
And there was like 255 front.
And I'm like, there's not very many girls hit it.
that far. Right. So I don't know.
Just tempt you. It might, it might tempt you into, but because then you got to lay
hit, lay back with what? Hybrid. Five hybrid? I didn't look. Yeah. I'm sure it's just like five,
hybrid or four hybrid probably, but. Hmm. I forget what I was going to ask next. It was going to be
really good. But I did practice. I did hit from the up to you and I blocked it a little bit right.
And I was in the rough. But I'm like, yeah, this is screwed. Right to the temporary green.
That probably would have been pretty good over there. We were talking about how difficult Shadow Creek
was where you won earlier this year. Do you feel like that has prepared you a little bit for this
week? I mean, I know different styles of golf course, but just the examination, I guess.
Probably, I guess, I think, I feel like I've been good at that just because I know that
golf course so freaking well that I feel like I didn't have to think too hard around it. I knew
exactly where I wanted to be like. And so I really stuck to my game plan like all week long.
Whereas this one night, you know, I'm just kind of really learning. And so it's like,
like it's kind of hard to get to that level,
but I felt really prepared in the sense that like,
again,
I felt like I just really needed to practice around the greens
and putting and stuff.
And like I said,
I felt pretty good about my prep coming into this,
into Thursday.
And,
you know,
it doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to play well,
but I at least felt like I did everything I needed to do.
And we'll see what happens.
What's the biggest difference for you putting from,
say,
six to 12 feet,
like now versus prior years?
Because that used to stress me out a lot,
watching you and now you seem to move faster on this and you seem to be just like you look
like you know what's going in like when you stand over putts these days does it feel that way it didn't
in Cincinnati and Missouho um but this week's been a lot better i mean i think i had like eight three
puts at missouho and like same thing like in two days at at Cincinnati um but no this week's been
a lot better i worked really hard the last two off weeks that i have um to kind of get ready for
this week and was able to rest and get back mentally into it. And yeah, I don't know. I think it's
just trying to stay in my routine as much as possible. And if you can do that, then it sets you up
for having a good putt. Later tea time, weekend of a major championship heading up. What are you going to
do tomorrow to pass the time? What's in the plans? I'm going to go get coffee from flow coffee shop
in the morning. And then I don't know what I'll be doing the rest of the day. Do one of those bus tours where they
take you around you see all the celebrity homes i think that would be a good use of time yeah awesome
well thanks for popping in this is a very awesome surprise was not that was not in the models this is
i don't even think to ask mid tournament i thought that would have been an easy no but that's incredible
tc the agent over here doing the work so we uh we look forward to speaking sunday evening with you
yes yes yeah yeah we will definitely be seeing you sunday evening if you'll have time for us
Thanks, I'll see.
That was Lauren Coglin, of course,
sitting there at T9
here in this championship.
That got my heart rate up a little bit, guys.
I thought it was somebody like lost.
They were just like poking their head in.
I thought so too.
That's LC.
The heart rate is up and the No Layup podcast is brought to you by Woop.
I stepped on you there.
You did. That's okay.
That's okay.

M-N-L-U.
I feel like we should.
I don't know if we have the image to go with this, Drew, but Ena Kim Shod's fit.
Oh, my God.
Did you, this was the highlight of the week, I think.
Both of them.
I mean, all of us.
Yes.
Yeah.
Your comment today on today's fit was it, what was you, what did you say today?
She looked like she had just gotten off the set, like filming some, you know, movie with
Carrie Grant.
She absolutely was just rocking the Hollywood starlit of yesterday.
Like it was so good.
And not forced either.
No, no.
She looked totally comfortable in it.
It really was aspirational.
I left.
This is her fit today.
If you're watching this here live,
I was following Nellie's round.
She was on 17 Green and I saw her on three and I just mid-putt with Nellie.
I was like,
I got to get over there and get a picture of this.
Like it stopped me in my tracks.
It's like, who is that?
She's a 42-year-old mid-am.
Was that right?
That's right.
Yeah.
The U.S.
Mid-Am champ.
She's not going to be around for the weekend.
but I respect everything you brought to this week.
Which is unfortunate because I would love to see, you know,
I know she packed four outfits.
Maybe she will be around this weekend.
She just won't be playing.
Yeah, I bet she will be.
I bet she'll be walking around.
You may see her out here.
You'll know who we're talking about.
Even if you don't see the images,
you'll know exactly who we're talking about if you do see her out there.
Any disappointing Miss Cuts you want to call out?
Lydia.
Yeah, Lydia probably.
Had fun watching her today.
She hits some of the most.
creative shots, just these crazy choked up, like almost down to the, to the graphite or the steel shaft.
And then like a really cool shot into four there.
And yeah, but it's just strikes and gutters.
It's a little frustrating right now.
Had to be nervous playing with Lauren Coglin.
I have to think she's still in the room here with this.
But, you know, it, we were, we were watching her, you know, took the two club links on four.
And then like you said, choked down.
I don't know if that was a three wood or five wood or whatever.
she definitely plays the game as a five would definitely plays the game very differently than
than a lot of other i was i was kind of thought about that though it's kind of like what we said
about jt about like yeah you can hit all these kind of shots but paralyzed yeah a little bit
at times uh that that shot you're talking about on four uh because you got to land it short and really
let it release i was watching that shot with our good friend wolfie michael wolk and when he saw
Powerball land and release.
It ended up, what, like 10, 12 feet?
He let out an audible.
Like, he was like, yeah, yeah.
He was such a fiend for a proper shot.
She did it get out of the rough.
I forget what hole that was.
But she choked one all the way,
all again, almost down to the shaft.
And I cut one in there.
It's like, it was fun creative golf,
but a miscut for her.
Megan Kang, miscut as well.
Lillia Vu.
Lillia Vu, you know,
looking at her, like, her game the last couple years,
maybe not unexpected that she missed the cup,
but she got off to a hot start.
I mean, she was too under at one point Thursday,
so disappointing in that respect for Lillia.
It feels very weird to have Lauren sitting here off to our side
as we're commenting on all these players.
I'm way more afraid of having a bad take with somebody else in the room.
It's a lot easier when no one else is in the room.
Hoy Jukim, too.
She missed the cut.
Big ballpark for her.
She was hitting lumber into 18, just tough.
Tough ask for her.
It, like her next to Nelly,
and we watched her beat Nelly twice in the early part of the year,
and the change in venue and watching how spin and height of approach shots,
how much of a difference that makes,
what made me feel better about watching those previous tournaments,
something like, Nellie should beat her.
Like she should beat her.
She can do more things.
And once the test got a little bit more challenging,
watching those two side by side,
I think three holes into HJ's round,
yesterday. I think I texted the group. I was like, cross her off. Like, I do not see this ball flight holding up on this setup right now.
She, I just, she makes me laugh. Today I was thinking, you know, she just got this like little kind of swag about, like, she reminds me of like the junior high kids that were just like the skater kids. I don't know why. She just, I just love everything about her, though. It's a, it's disappointing she won't be around the weekend. She might, I think she might have the most sponsors of anyone else out there. She has three on her back, the back of her shirt alone.
On her sunsleeve, she has sponsors on there as well.
Like, get the bag.
Charlie's not a lot.
Charlie might be giving her a run.
I feel like Charlie just puts them everywhere, too.
I felt like the Charlie to Malbin stuff was a big step up.
I don't know if you can do the Malbin stuff and also tack all your sponsors on top of that.
Yeah, it's only golf Saudi.
Yeah, golf Saudi and Malbun's a tough combination.
The amateur Aphrodite Dang's a Malbin.
She's kind of got that clean.
There's a lot of Malbin going on out there.
Both on and off the time.
course out here. A lot of LA creatures out there in the gallery. Good people watching.
Owen Wilson was out yesterday. He was out there walking around. I haven't seen any other.
I saw Rick Kane just watching from his little porch, his little nook above Six Green there.
Not little. That is a big note. Big note. Yeah. Yeah. Cave, nook.
Yeah. That's a nice spot. Enclave.
There's a how you look up at the house behind six. It's, uh,
And then there's one for sale, a few doors down from that.
And I asked TC, I'm like, there's a, there's a house for sale right there.
Like, just give me an estimation what do you think that house is listed for?
And he goes, 80 million.
And it was literally 80 million.
It was 7, 79, 995, I think it was 13,000 square feet up there.
It's a totally different world out here.
You putting in an offer?
I'll think about it.
I'm going to, you know, L.C. might be putting an offer in here shortly if this,
if this weekend goes to play in.
12 and a million dollar purse this week.
I'm just saying.
The houses just ring the course.
They are amazing.
LD's house is up there.
Yeah.
The Sackler family.
I know you're a big fan.
God.
Yeah.
Which yes.
So this was a story that I got mentioned on the air.
L.D.
or Megaghanes catty this week.
I forget the guy,
the guy's actual name.
But he's Larry David's catty here at Riviera.
Like actual.
Actual.
Actual.
And he's also the actor or he played the part of the golf
coach in the episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm
where it's a great
scene where he's given a lesson
and Larry's just sitting on the bench taking notes
about it, the vertical drop horizontal tug
that's the, it's not it's not Larry's lesson
Larry's just he's just over here dropping
on it. I think it's like it's a total play
on Gancas
Gancis's bench and everything
out at West Lake.
That's I never made that connection.
But anyways, he was catting for Megagana
who did him and
did miss the cut. She missed. I think she shot plus five.
She was a pro.
She turned pro. She turned professional this week
as well. What if
we left off, guys? We've covered a lot here
in the last hour. Anything that... I said earlier
the crowds, they're not
bad. There's good golf fans. There's plenty of people
following the lead groups. I'd just like to see
a little bit more volume
out there in numbers.
Like, a bunch
of listeners. I think I've been stopped more
here than in any other
tournament I've been to all year, which is always fun and nice to have great conversations.
There's just a very, you know, very keen cohort as far as that.
But, but just, like, I would love to see some, some, you know, just Saturday.
Like, I know it was last week of school this week.
I would love to see the masses come out tomorrow.
I do got to have a shout to our guy, Chris, from New Zealand.
He is on his way to London.
He's flying through L.A. to London from New Zealand.
I got a picture with him.
He had a seven-hour layover.
And he's like, on your recommendation, I just, I got a ticket and I Uber to the golf course.
And I'm heading back for my flight here tonight.
That's awesome.
He's got the no laying up nest.
He had the, he had the fanny pack going out there today.
And I just, he also asked me how, he's like, how do I get on this golf course?
Can I just book a tea time here?
I was like, that's not really quite how it works, Chris.
Did you talk about the Tim Greens, too?
I did not warn him about the Tem Greens.
But shout out to Chris.
That was a heartwarming story today.
will say I see we have a question about Ling Grant. I did TC and I would you like to update the
people about the Lynn Grant situation along with Cody we've had some difficult conversations going
on and I think I took a strong stance earlier this year and saying that you know hey I apologize
and everything that was brave Randy's now now you know wanting me to issue a fatwa and and
totally disown I'm not going to do that at least at least not until not yet Solheim Cup yeah we're
We're going to give her through the Solheim Cup, but then it might be, you know, this fall we might have to have some hard conversation.
There's, there could be a ball speed imposter.
Wow.
Designation.
That's, it's very measured, T.C. I appreciate that.
On the flip side of the Swedes, it's good to see Maya playing well.
Yeah.
Defending champ and, you know, always seems to be kind of doing something with their swing or just have in some sort of different outlook going on.
And, you know, just solid golf this week so far.
She's at plus one
You know
We definitely still in the in this tournament
Charlie Hall kind of a quiet week for her so far
She's sitting there at plus three she did make the cut
There as well in the in the hoard there at T45 with some bigger names
It's a horde there
Menji Lee
Rose Zang there
Alem Kim past champ in there
The Peloton
Yeah back it's it it is kind of tight
There's still a lot of opportunity for for some movement
Here on this board
Ingrid Lidblad Lottie Wode right on the cut line there at plus four.
They will be playing the weekend as well.
I was hoping for a little more out of Lottie this week.
73, 73 so far.
Anyways, a couple underpar rounds.
Get back to even.
That could be a top 10.
I feel like the Canadians would appreciate if we shout it out.
Brooke Henderson.
She shot two under today.
She's an even par.
Nice 36 holes for her.
And then the name we haven't said, G.A. Shin is a little on the older side as far as this game goes.
A little.
Isn't she like 45?
She's won a lot.
She has won a lot of major championship.
She's won under par.
So I just,
we should probably say her name in case.
Is you an ages?
No, no,
I'm not in ages.
She's 38.
I'm sorry.
I got a little carried away.
But a lot of her success was, you know,
15 plus years ago.
So I just want to read her name into the record.
Should she stick around this weekend?
One thing.
I thought it was a little bit of a,
a frustration or a waste that coverage has been good overall.
I've enjoyed it, at least especially the pictures.
I think when Nellie hit the back nine today,
they shifted it from USA over to Peacock.
Like we,
that's tough.
That's not good.
That's tough.
That's not what we're about, guys.
That feels like kind of an own goal.
If we could clean that up,
because I feel like, all right,
we're getting Riviera in prime time on a Friday night,
East Coast.
and, you know, they're just getting into the round.
She's just teed off on town.
And they're like, all right, we'll see you over on Peacock.
Yeah.
And again, the macro view of this, I would think that would make sense would be,
all right, let's show Nellie Corder on television this Friday afternoon
to lead you into the major championship weekend where, you know,
you're going to move over to network TV and you're going to want a lot of people watching.
That macro would win out for,
me versus trying to force people over to your paid platform that also has ads on it that really
frustrates people. I just don't know how you could possibly, I don't know what the, the subscription
sign up is going to be on Friday afternoon of the U.S. Women's Open. Like, I think it, it almost makes
more sense to hold like a men's Friday afternoon round, hold people ransom for that and get people
to sign up and get people in the boat. And like, when you're trying to grow the women's game,
this is the event that NBC invests the most in.
I just, I don't, I don't get that, but that's
NBC or does USGA an ally?
That's another conversation.
Saul, you're exactly right.
I would say we also have a channel that they put on cable
and they usually play golf on it.
And then the same companies happen to own that channel as USA.
It would be amazing if they could leverage that in prime time as well.
you can't possibly do that.
They have to show a replay of the PGA tour, I think is what was, or the old
or the team event that Roy Sabatini and Brian Gay are winning.
There's a team event.
Are we going there?
Should we talk about that?
We did need to mention Memorial because it was super windy today and JT. Post
and Best Pound for Pound Player in the world.
A little Ken Duke round today.
I can't believe you're flippantly throwing around Ken Duke's name.
like that but it was a spectacular round he shot seven under when everybody else nobody else
shot better than three under today i believe but i'm throwing it around because it's at jack's place
you're you're you know you what you love jack's i don't love upside out jack's uh jack's
place as much as i love jack's place but we got we got to get this event away from the memorial
please like this is one of the best golf watching weekends but i these two events need to be on separate
weekends. I could not have them going to at least the finishes will be staggered on Sunday afternoon.
But it's it hurts. It hurts every year. I keep refreshed from my phone. I was hoping we might see
some tea times, but I think we still might have. I think people are still playing out there. Yeah,
it's a it's a long day here today. Do you get it first? Do they front run us? Okay. Okay, Elsie has not
received any tea time information. So I would have to think you're with Cassandra Alexander if it's listed that way
on the on the on the leaderboard and that would put nellie with sora kamaia i don't know anything
about her do you yeah first and last out i know sorra's a jl pga player uh qualified top 75 in the
world could not tell you much else about her i will stick my neck out if she's on the top 10
at the end of the day tomorrow i would be shocked oh well i thought you were going to say i will have more
information for you come then i'll have to research her she's still
around tomorrow. We'll make that a
homework assignment for you.
Anything else we need to get to before we wrap up
guys?
Who wins? Yeah. I mean, I already
predicted you. You did. Before
Lauren walked in, T.C. did pick
Lauren, can you step out for the
section? I picked you to win the Chevron and you
didn't, so I can't pick you back to back here
unfortunately. What will
you name the boat if
you win this one?
Really?
The second boat.
have chevion already
might be a yacht
I'm gonna go with
Meta World Yin
Ron Ron Ron
Yeah Ron Ron Ron I feel like I've
taken Ron Ron Ron
I like the position
Nellie's in I like that
2 under you're kind of right in that drafting
pocket LC I like that 2 under
I'm gonna take somebody at 2 under
that's my official prediction
Oh okay
Who will not win
I'm going to say Jennifer Cup Joe.
Yeah, I think that's got Wolfie.
She was like she's in such control of her golf ball.
And she made a big deal.
Like she came out.
She said she's never pre-scouted a course before ever.
She came out during the,
during one of the West Coast events and played it.
And she's like, man, it was,
my parents have been telling me to do this and I did it.
It's amazing how much more comfortable I feel.
It works.
I'd be shocked. I mean,
Allison Lee, hell of a 36
holes. I think it's just a lot to
ask, not having played
a lot of golf lately. She said she's staying at her
parents' place an hour away.
Oof. Which is tough. Is that like
seven miles though, actually?
Yeah, it would be
an amazing story.
If Allison Lee were to go on to win, but that would be
unlikely, I think.
I hope to see her finish out
the weekend style, definitely.
And I'll be rooting for her. Gosh, it'd be awesome,
awesome story. I think we're going to hit over
the head with that element of the story,
likely if she sticks around, but it's a worthwhile one
because it is a really, really good one.
Yeah.
We got a lot. It's going to be an awesome weekend.
I mean, it is. Please, I beg you to tune in.
If you like golf, this golf course
is going to absolutely prime. It's going to be a great
leaderboard. I think this is a massive,
massive spot for women's golf.
This was, again, like we said, an event
we've had circled on the calendar for a long long,
time really glad we made it out here in person and got to see it up close and personal because it uh it hit
it hit really hard and i'm going to be uh i think about time we land tc back at jacks people are going to
be playing golf uh again we got a tough night ahead of us we'll see if we're taking two different airlines
we'll see who who who can come through for us on that i have a feeling i'm going to be quite all right
i'm worried a little worried about you but yeah yeah i'm finding newark he's gone through
Dallas. He's gone a little bit
straighter line. All I did get the upgrade,
he told me. Both of them. Both of them. Both y'all.
Both of them. Both of them. So,
all right, that's going to do it for our little
36-hole check-in. Again, shout to
Ally for having us out this week.
Shout to Lauren and John for popping in and
surprises here in the Riviera Clubhouse.
Shout to USGA as well for setting us up.
Very rare that we get the opportunity to do
a podcast live on site.
And everybody's been massively, massively helpful
with all of that. And it's been a great,
great week. Really, really glad we made the trip. We're still a little jet lag. I think we're going to enjoy getting back to our own beds and watching the rest on television from here.
But thank you, everyone, for tuning in. Make sure you are watching Saturday and Sunday, the U.S. Women's Open this coming weekend. We'll be back live, of course, on Sunday night after play wraps up.
We'll be talking here in RIV. We'll break down Memorial as well. It's going to be one of our, probably one of our biggest shows of the year. So make sure you are there, no longer on a podcast, YouTube channel or on the Everything app. Or you can download up the podcast the next.
day as well. So thank you everyone for tuning in. We'll see you back here on Sunday. Crack on.
