Just a quick reminder that my new book, The Mother Next Door, Medicine, Deception, and
Munchausen by Proxy, is on sale right now wherever books are sold. The book was an Amazon
editor's pick for nonfiction, and the Seattle Times called it a riveting deep dive into
MBP. And if you are an audiobook lover
and you like hearing my voice, which I'm assuming you do since you're listening here,
you should know that I narrate the audiobook as well. If you have already read the book,
which I know so many of you have, thank you so much. Please let me know your thoughts and questions
at helloandnobodyshouldbelieveme.com and we will bring my co-author, Detective Mike Weber,
on for a little book Q&A and post-retirement tell-all special.
Thanks for your support.
So, you're hosting the family barbecue this week, but everyone knows your brother is the
grill guy, and it's highly likely he'll be backseat barbecuing all night.
So be it.
And press even the toughest of critics with freshly prepared Canadian barbecue favorites
from Sobeys.
Hello, it's Andrea and we are sharing the trailer for a brand new show from our friends
over at Orbit Media, who are launching the fourth season of their excellent series, The
Burden, this week.
Get the Money and Run immerses listeners in the world of Joe Loya, a notorious bank robber
who hit more than 30 banks in a single year in Southern California. It's at once a fast-paced
heist story and a deep look into Joe's mindset and motivations because he is the one telling the
story. Get the Money and Run is out now, so give it a listen on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hi there, this is Steve Fishman from Orbit Media.
Our new series, season four in the burden feed
is Get the Money and Run.
You'll love it.
Here's the trailer.
When is walking to a bank not just walking to a bank?
When you're walking to a bank robbery and just walking to a bank. When you're walking to a bank robbery, and you are the robber.
I had this peace almost.
I was like, I had a storm and I'm like focused, don't need no music, don't have no noise
in my head, no fucking fear at all.
And when I'm that guy, that guy gets shit done.
Like walk into a bank, walk up to a teller and, without even showing a
weapon, walk away with thousands and thousands in cash. I'm gonna run rough
shot right through any like resistance you have. You stand up I'm cutting you in
half and you'll quickly see acquiescence is the best thing at this one and they
and they did. I'm standing here with Joe Loya, aka the Beirut Bandit. Over 14
months Joe robbed so many banks, he lost count.
The FBI even said that, something about like,
he didn't pull the gun, why'd you give him the money?
And they were all like, you know, his eyes, his eyes.
He meant it, you could tell.
And there was menace in my eyes.
You know, I had attempted to kill my dad when I was 16.
I'd already spent a couple years in prison.
I knew how to carry myself and turn on that aggression,
that sort of violent maleness.
— I'm Ben Adair, and coming soon,
The Burden Season 4, Get the Money and Run.
It's an all-access pass into the mind
of one of California's most prolific bank robbers.
— Just terrify these people and get them so scared that not only would they give
me the cash, they would give me their terror.
It made me feel strong.
All I know is we're fucking helpless.
All I know is anarchy.
All I know is chaos.
I just leaned into that.
