sent gunk off to school then headed to the hidden village of Roussel I feel like it was more than a more than a sentence it was a huge chunk of the episode It's a paragraph none of the none of the plot none of the importance, but all of the time Just I want pictures when gunk grows his arms. Once in Roussel you met a mouse folk newsboy named squirt who gave you a shakedown and a rundown of the town All right, you learned named Squirt who gave you a shakedown and a rundown of the town. Wow. All right. Now we're back. We had some fun with this one. Hey, let me talk everybody, right? You learned more about the missing halflings that they had had a meeting with a sunset goblin from the court with no crowns, a group of hedge knights led by a dragonborn named

Zunark. You also learned that you were wanted by the Winter Court for quote, conspiracy against the crown. You decided to speak with Zunark about all this, but stopped at the bar to pick him up a six pack of kegs. As you approached the veranda, you ran a foul some tufts from a gang called the Ratlin' Snakes.

Kali, click, click. Kali challenged them to hit her. They failed. the Ratlin' Snakes. Callie, click, click. Callie challenged them to hit her. They failed. Then you stole their jackets and Kristen Saul, AKA Dee Dee Skittles as the leader. That's right. You entered the bar with the tufts snapping and hissing behind you,

but failed to impress the bartender. Possible. While you bar-backed in penance, Callie recognized an old friend of her sister's, Triss Two, talking to one of the tufts in the corner. After a quick game of rock-paper-scissors, it was decided that Calder would seduce her. He walked up, punched the guy she was flirting with, then called her the second hottest girl at the bar.

On the subsequent nine deception check, Triss too was convinced that Calder was a spy from the Winter Court. She screamed and caused everyone in the bar to scramble. As Saul failed to stun her, she mounted her stag and ran towards the court with no crowns barracks. Callie pursued on licorice, but Triss too was not comforted by learning her real identity and in fact screamed harder. She tried to trick the Hedge Knights into thinking you were Winter Court agents, but Calder eventually convinced them to stop attacking. Zunark quickly identified that your ragtag crew were not agents of the court and invited you inside to speak.

You explained your side and said you thought it was possible that Triss Two was a spy since someone clearly sold the Halflings out to the Winter Court. Triss too admitted that she had lied about her name and downplayed her reasons for being on the run, but confirmed that she was not a spy. She said that Callie's sister, Syrah, had been on a war path and was planning on taking the fight to Jovier herself, causing Triss too to bow out. Callie extended an olive branch to Tryz II, who quickly took it once she realized Kali was actually quite popular.

Okay, right action, wrong reason. Right. From there, she became more helpful and began offering up information. Zunark, meanwhile, explained that a goblin named Roos went missing the same night as the Halflings. Roos had been asked to abandon his post in the Autumn Court, causing Zunark to theorize that Jovir might be allowing the automatons to attack. Saul further theorized that Jovir could be using news of an extraplanar threat to lure Cirilla into a trap to consolidate the crowns. Tristu confirmed that Cyra was planning to attack during the summit in an archipelago south of the continent, so you made plans to find her. You wondered aloud who could be feeding information to the courts when you began to ask about

Kestra, the druid in town. You asked Zunark about her and he admitted that she was relatively new and mostly kept to herself. Then it hit you. Every building in town was entwined with the great tree at its center, a tree that Squirt said grew larger when she arrived. You realized that as a dryad, she can speak to plants freely and was the likely candidate for the rat in Roussel. As you put two and two together, Zunark shouted for his soldiers to evacuate.

He told you that there was a dragon turtle that could take you to the archipelago and began leading you out a back entrance, and that's where we are now. Oh shit, she's leaves dropping. Ha ha ha ha. Oh, that's good. Kenna laughs really hard. There's no time for that, Saul.

You had to stop being so hilarious. Kenna! There's not a reason to fight for this world if you don't make time for that. You're right. Let's all take a moment to appreciate how clever that was, Mr. Buffon. Thank you, you really gotta gas up your friends,

I appreciate it, gang. It's Zunark. I called her Patsal on the back. Zunark is shoving you guys, trying to carry you. Zunark, did you hear what he said? Yes, yes, I heard, very clever, great pun. Okay, okay, okay, so what's the quickest way out, which is hot exit?

There's a way out the back, yes. Okay, okay. Lead the way. So Z is hot. There's a way out the back. Yes. Okay. Okay. Lead the way. So Zunark leads you down a set of stairs and into a tunnel. Above you, you can hear hedge Knights armor clattering. Some of them sounds like they're getting ready to like holds down the fort and basically stay in position to defend their fleeing comrades.

And other dudes you see are getting ready to beat feet or some of them are leaving through the tunnel others you hear you hear just like windows shattering people are just cheesing it and as you guys are running Zunark looks at you guys and starts speaking urgently the mages of the Winter Court are highly skilled if Kestra is the spy, she knows she's been made and they'll be here immediately before we're able to get away. The only advantage we have is that it's not a full ambush, we have to keep moving. Okay, okay, yeah. And Triss too is running alongside you guys. Not a full ambush, I point to the greenery.

Kali, that was really good. You were thinking on your feet while you run on your feet. That was awesome, That was so funny. Everyone, please keep running. And also, Calder, I just really want to point out, your haircut looks great, man. It looks like really, it really suits you. Thanks, yeah. Yeah, but I guess it's time to, to, tree, to flee, tree.

Does, is that? I turned to, to Zinark with tears in my eyes. To leave, you mean? To leave? Triss, that was really good. Did you get it? I don't know? To leave. Tris, that was really good. Did you hear what Tris said? I heard that was really good. Did you just call me Tris?

Yeah. To Elizabeth, that was amazing. I did, too. Oh my god. OK. Yeah, Elizabeth. Kelly, thank you so much. I was just about to comment about how your family brings

so much drama and violence just all around me all the time. But when you say little stuff like that, it's kind of worth it. Okay, I was gonna say, yeah, maybe it's time for a new beginning. So I'm gonna disregard everything you said, pretend like it didn't happen, and new beginning starting now.

Great. She keeps running along. I give her another flat tire. She starts to fall forward. You see Zunark looks at you guys and goes, if we get separated, head to south about a day's hike. Follow the rocky shore west and there will be a grotto.

You can't miss it. Okay. Okay. What's the name of it? Does it have nymphs around it? Nymphs? Yeah. I, around, of course. We're in the water. There's nymphs everywhere. Yeah, do you know any of their names?

I want to make sure we don't- Any of the nymphs' names? The rotating nymphs. They're very wild and lousy with grottoes! The dragon turtle's name is Laszlo. Laszlo, okay. Laszlo. Laszlo. Laszlo. The nymphs don't matter. Ignore their cat calls.

I just want to make sure we don't go to the wrong grotto. They're going to be rude to you, okay? You just have to get past that. Yeah, and that's for every grotto. All right, exactly. We all know this, okay? You see, Zunark runs ahead, pushes through a set of double doors at the end of the tunnel, and you emerge through a secret entrance at the back of the barracks. And in the time that it took you to run through the house, you already hear the clanging of steel and the sound of war horns going up, and you see arrows of fire begin arcing through the sky. You see Zunark runs over, there's a black,

like bright old warhorse, this huge, like Clydesdale looking thing tied up to the side of the house. You see Zunark hops on one, you see Triss too, sticks her hand into the dirt and pulls out greens, her like tree ant elk from the ground and hops onto it and as you guys all get ready to take off there is a sudden and a great disturbance in the air as two squads of Wintercourt agents teleport in covering the back exit. You see hovering in the air six Eladrin Knights with black scale mail armor and long blue hooded cloaks. They are on griffins and wielding bows with fiery arrows knocked. Above them you see two fate bringer mages, these wizards that you recognize from your youth Kali. They wear white veils to cover their eyes, then long blue cloaks. They

are each mounted on fearsome creatures called gloam wings. They are dragon-esque but devoid of personality, just pure malice. They snap at the air in front of them, black-scaled with long worm-like necks and wings like a gargantuan bat. Very Nazgul-esque. Ooh, the knights look disoriented for a moment as they settle in their new surroundings, but the fate-bringers seem to instinctively clock you. You see their gloam wings begin swooping down to dive bomb. Everybody go ahead and roll initiative.

Yikes. Oh, boy. Ooh, nat 20. God damn, that sucks. What a terrible feeling. Half. I got a three plus seven. Yeah, who would, during a chase,

who would want to go first? That sucks, dude. Can I just like save this for later? Wouldn't that be awesome if as a monk you did like 16 damage with a single punch instead of going first and potentially moving 300 feet? I got an eight. Okay, Jesus. Can I have your 20, dude?

Yeah, can I split it in half? Yeah, honestly, he'd be better off. He would be much better off if you just split your initiative in half. What is the total? On a 20. 30. That's good. Because these guys are psychics. And so they get to go very fast. But not as fast as Saul with a natural 20.

At initiative 30, Saul, that is your turn. So your new friends, Triss 2 and Zunark have their own mounts. You guys have two serpents. And then Saul is quite fast. Honeysuckle does not get encumbered by any amount of people. So Honeysuckle could kind of hold all of you guys. Licorice probably couldn't hold Calder and somebody else. But Licorice can fly.

They both have 60 feet of movement. Saul, you are first to act though. Okay, so there's basically like this like floating barricade blocking our path. It's not, it's actually not blocking your path completely because out behind the barracks is the open forest. Oh, okay. So you can, you know, rush off into the forest and judging by how quickly these guys got here, you can imagine there's a certain number of these mages that are kind of just like on call to pursue high value outlaws, like you all.

And you can assume that they're just going to spawn infinitely here if you don't get the fuck out of here. Right, okay. Are there any monoworms around? Yeah, yeah, you see a ratling snake is starting to ride out of town. Oh, these ratling snakes are rattling away! Move.

I push him off. OK. You get on this monoworm. It is 30 feet of movement. Oh, it's so slow. These guys are not good. You see that dude get shot 30 times by arrows. And then you see the manoworm is dispersed by fiery arrows.

OK, well, I think I use that as a distraction and then I like back flip off of the man-of-worm as it's getting shot with arrows and then I'm just gonna book it into the woods. Right on, okay. How much movement are you going to use? So I'm just gonna go 150 feet into the woods. Hell yeah, so you guys see Saul just gets down

into a sprinting position and then launches out with a giant frog leap and uses that momentum to bounce from tree to tree. From your point of view disappears into the dark woods. Can I be leaving like a little, I don't know if I want to leave a trail. I said where to meet, right? Everyone heard where I said to meet.

Yeah, as I'm leaving, I'll just shout like, meet you there! And then I'll just sprint away. Hell yeah, okay. Saul takes off into the woods at initiative 25, that is the two fate bringer mages on top of the gloam wings. They cock their heads and seem to look through you, like look through trees to find you oh and you guys hear these voices in your head go

You have been subbed By the great Queen Jovi Tell her we said thanks, but no thanks We'll stop by if we can. You see the one Gloam Wing is going to dive bomb down. You see this Fatebringer Mage holds a handout, creates a spectral lance in his right hand and a spectral dagger in the left hand and is going to swing it down and attempt to hit Callie.

Oof. Oh no. Okay, that is a 28 to hit. Yeah, that hits. 29 damage. Callie, you see this spectral lance like- I'm already fucked up. Oh no, you guys have gotten a short rest from, you talked to Zunark for like over an hour, certainly.

Callie, this spectralral Lance goes through you, and that is necrotic damage that does not go away until a long rest. So you feel like a bit of, you see Callie begins to look a bit more like incorporeal for a moment, like turning kind of ghostly as this thing hits her. What did it tell to me?

And the second attack is only an 18 to hit. Misses! But you see that this is some kind of like magic item that is an actual weapon. This is not just pure magic. You are able to hold your sword up and block the second attack. Takes a third attack.

Shout out to the two crew. Misses on the last one. You're able to duck out of the way, but takes the spectral dagger that it has created. He throws it and seems to be like commanding it with his mind. It begins to like flit around you and with a 29 does hit. That is 10 damage, Callie. And you see the dagger stays near you, just starts floating and like floating around you,

getting ready to strike again. All right. We have enough pets thank you. After that Fatebringer Mage's turn uh the Gloamwing is gonna go the Gloamwing has an ability called fly by so it doesn't get opportunity attacks so it's gonna swoop in attack Kali and then go back up like 40 feet so first attack is a 23 to hit. That hits yeah. Okay 12 damage you see Kali is bitten by the Gloamwing. Oh, you bit me! This crazy dragon-esque creature that apparently sounds kind of like a crow takes two claw attacks, misses on the first one, second one hits for 13 damage. Okay.

My god. Yeah, you see Kali's just being torn into by this one mage. The other mage points his finger towards Saul. Saul, you see 30 feet behind you, a giant spectral claw, like a skeletal hand with blue necrotic magic around it manifests and then flies at you and is going to attempt to grapple you. Go ahead and give me a contested strength check

against this skeletal hand. It's a grapple? It is a grapple. So I have slimy skin, which gives me advantage on grapple checks. Look at you, the homebrew bullywug coming in clutch. Yeah, so it squeezes you and you start to almost pop out and you feel the hand go like OOP! OOP! Hey! Hey! Hey!

That's right. I'm Dee Dee Skittles, the greasiest greaser that's ever been! Hey! And it's going to roll. Oh, thank God. My God. This thing has a plus eight to strength But just got a one. So that's a nine. I'm going to ignore the two and go with the 13 I can use athletics, right? Yes, sir. Okay 14. Okay So you see after this very scary thing this fate-bringer very scary that

Seems to be able to like look through the woods and see Saul in the fucking dark like 150 feet away, summons this skeletal hand out of the ground. It's huge, it's bigger than you. It's like as big as Calder, flies towards you and then as soon as it grabs you, it just, you just fart out of it. Hey!

Yeah, no, he's wet. Stay still. Didn't see that coming, did ya? I can't say I did. And that gloam wing is going to fly over the forest 120 feet just to stay within sight of Saul. Okay. So that dude is out for now.

But at the end of their turn, you see two more squads show up. More of these fate bringer mages, more of these knights. They get ready to attack, but at initiative 16, that is Zunark's turn and Zunark goes, I think perhaps it's better if we split up. Yeah. I'll draw their ire.

Oh, are you sure? Yes, Triss two to me. It's Triss now or Triss one. Or Alizatris. Alizatris. Or Alizatris, that's also fine. Just follow the command, Liz two. Alizatris.

God, they look kind of good together, don't they? Holy shit. You see, Triss two puts her hair behind her ear and goes, do you think? Zunark goes, let's leave. He begins shooting up like a crossbow at the gloam wing to infuriate it. And you see some of the fate bringer mages look like

they're kind of losing control, like the newer ones. And Zunark takes off in sort of the opposite direction. Saul's heading kind of like southwest. He starts heading like southeast, darting off at like a different direction. And Tristu follows him. You see those two new squads. Those two new squads go off and follow those guys.

So you guys just have to deal with the original crews. At initiative 13, wow, it is actually very bad to have rolled low initiative on this chasing tower. Not good stuff. Then I've got two squads of knights. They're gonna act on separate initiatives, but at initiative 13, that's three knights on three griffins.

They are going to anticipate that you're gonna take off into the woods. So they're gonna move about 30 feet back. So getting a little bit closer to're gonna move about 30 feet back. So getting a little bit closer to Saul, but only 30 feet out. And then they're going to fire their fiery arrows at let's say Calder.

First guy takes two shots. That is one hit, one miss. Calder, 21 damage as a fiery arrow hits you. What was it to hit? I might cast shield. 27, roll the natural 19. I won't cast it. Yeah, pretty, yeah, it makes sense.

Okay, yeah, you think about it for a second and then it hits you directly in the neck. Too slow. Oh, Mr. Kilday, are you alive? Don't worry, one of them missed me. Thank God it didn't hit a vein, my God. It's just in through your neck. We should move it at all. Yeah, we should okay. Leave it there. Let's leave it Let's leave it. Is it still burning? Yeah Okay, next guy two shots two misses all right last guy two shots one hit another natural

19 so 27 so a second arrow breaks the first arrow and just replaces it in your neck for 22 damage. Oh God, all right. After that squad, that is Callie's turn. I am going to use 30 feet of Licorice's movement to go after, I'm going to try to attack just the mount that the Fatebringer made just on top of. Hell yeah, so you see Licorice from position kind of,

Licorice is pretty unassuming, just like slithering around on the ground, looks like a giant silver snake, but hops up and flies up with Callie on his back and begins attacking this gloam wing. Yeah, now, Licorice isn't, I'm attacking. Oh, right, you're attacking. So you guys torpedo at this fate bringer

and you see the gloam wing begins shrieking and waving its wings as you get near. Okay, 25 to hit. 25 hits. Okay, so I'm doing a fourth level smite. 37 damage on the first attack. Okay. Nice. You see the gloam wing does not like that,

shrieks and flies back. And you see the fate bringer pulls back on the reins, trying to keep control of it. Second attack. Definitely gonna hit. That's a 27 to hit. 27 hits. Okay, gonna need to do another fourth level smite.

Patrickor. They know your name. Did we all hear that? I know your name too! What is it? Gilday! Shit. I mean, no, it's Dan.

Another 27 damage. Callie is shredding this beast. You see scales flying as the Fatebringer tries to wrestle it okay it's gonna hit one more fourth level smite shit okay 36 more damage damn okay this thing is on death's door is shrieking and the Fatebringer mage really has to work to keep it in the fight. Okay, what does licorice have? Can I use licorice? I was gonna- Licorice has a breath weapon. Licorice has only had to go up 30 feet, so has not used a dash action.

I'm gonna smack licorice and say use your breath weapon. Or bite, whatever is the best. Oh shit. Is going to breathe out the silver serpent mist. Have- have I ever seen Licorice do that before? Licorice has not done this in a minute. Licorice usually, when Licorice is used, it's to fry 120. It's usually for a dash.

Yeah, I know. It's pretty rare that Licorice gets to use his little trick here. Damn, dude. Go ahead and roll 48 damage, and these guys will roll con saves. The gloam wing actually passes, but the rider fails. So the riders will take this as well.

Oh my God, I rolled up Barley! Nine damage. Nine damage, okay. Ow! This has been played terribly. I can't believe my smites let me down, so I'm going to, I think we're just going to move away. They're going to get the opportunity attacks. That's fine.

Okay. So he can move 30 feet more. So the Gloam Wing will get a claw attack. 20 to hit. Misses because I have plus two to my AC right now. Okay. And I'll say goes for licorice, but you're able to use your mounted combatant. So as the thing goes to claw licorice, as you fly 30 feet into the woods, you get your swords down and block the claws and there's a loud clang from your sword.

Damn. You delay the inevitable. You know what here's what's gonna happen is I don't actually see the future so I was just thinking that my smites were gonna take out your mount and they should have. Statistically they should have. Statistically, they should have. I was looking at statistics, not the future, because not everyone has the gift of the future. And you know what? Did you even want it? Was it awakened in you against your will by Jovee? My will is irrelevant.

After Kallie's turn, that is Kenna's turn. Oh no! Uh oh. On Kenna's turn, Kenna is going to... Kenna only has a few potions left. I think she used one or two in the Alexandrite fight, but I've got here on her character sheet that she's got three. So she is going to...

First, I guess,.. Mr.. Killday she like tugs at you and pulls Calder with the arrow through his neck on Tony cycles back Looks like a damn Halloween costume you guys fly off into the woods, and she is going to meet up with Cali here and administer a potion as a full action a potion as a full action. So it was one of those three potions. It's literally the least that I could do. This is not a fight for me. And that is going to be a full 44 plus four, so 20 HP.

Nice. Thank you. Then she will, Kali, she'll hit you with a Squire of Inspiration. Thank you. That was inspiring, the way you went up and you just tried to kill that mount. You know, yeah, you're right.

Statistically, I think it should have worked, but you know what? We persevere and that's where the inspiration comes from. I say as the tooth falls out. After Kenna's turn, that is Calder's turn. So Calder, you are on top of Honeysuckle. I'll say Honeysuckle keeps booking it past, unless you want like Honeysuckle to chill. I'll say Honeysuckle can split his turn amongst you guys, as long as he's not using action.

So he uses 30 feet, holds up next to Kali, ready to go another, I mean, he can dash. So he can go another 90 feet if you want, but it's your turn. I think I'm ready to ride, but on my way out, I'm gonna cast freezing ray at this mount. Okay this gloamwing is looking pretty messed up from Callie's attack. Okay. So you point your finger up as you guys are rushing

off into the woods the fate bringer is trying to follow you in the sky over the forest. That's a 24 hits a 23 hits 18 all three hit. Yeah dude. That is 17 damage. Calder finish this gloam wing. I pull one of the arrows from my neck. I blow on it with an icy breath that extinguishes the fire and turns it into like an icicle. Hell yeah. And I chuck it at the gloam wing. You throw like an ice javelin that perfectly pierces this gloam wing in the neck. Let's add a shriek that echoes through the forest. It's just absolutely chilling.

You see this fate bringer thinking it might still be alive as it like kicks through the air, tries to wrestle with it to keep it up. But then as it's clear that it dies, it sort of like slumps and begins collapsing. You see the fate bringer jumps off, cast feather fall and begins floating through the air. That's one thing you couldn't have seen. All the teamwork.

I realized I shouldn't have pulled that arrow out. I'm bleeding a lot. Huh? I'll put a new one in Mr. Kilday. You see she takes another arrow that missed and puts it perfectly in your neck. Oh, it went in so easily. Thank you.

There was so much give Mr. Kilday. After Calder's turn, there are three more knights on three more griffins that are going to fly forward and take some shots at Cali and Calder. We'll say two are gonna go after Calder and one will go after Cali, shooting these fiery arrows that light up the night. First guy goes twice, Nat 20 on one of them.

So that's going to be 32 damage, Calder. Oh, to my neck. Yes. How are they so precise? Their aim is so specific. If they got you in the head or something, they would have killed you, but they're just getting you the meaty part of the neck.

Okay, so you lose 10 feet getting around the ice wall, so you get 110 feet deeper. All right, what do we do now? One knight has been taken out by giving up his griffin,

So this thing starts to be weighed down by both of you being on it. You guys begin like spiraling in the air. You guys see in the night sky the shadow of a frog fighting this mage. Whoa.

I descend with my foot just pushing forward for a kick, and I scream, no quarts, no crowns, no chance! And I'm gonna try and stunning strike this mage. It's got kind of this like orange purple sky and you can see like merfolk and dolphins hopping in and out of it. It's so clear that just beneath the surface,
