Hi guys and welcome back to another episode of Not As We Planned.
We have a really exciting one for you today because we have our first ever duo guests.
Something that we're really excited about because I feel like whenever we've had a guest on the pod,
it's something that probably a lot of us can relate to or there's been some sort of breakup.
It's been quite dramatic.
Trauma.
Yeah.
We thought we'd give you something a bit more positive today.
Give you some hope today, guys.
a real life married couple.
Real life.
We wanted to bring you a couple that have had their ups and downs,
been together for a number of years.
So let's get them on the pod.
Okay, guys, so we are welcoming today, Connor and Charlotte.
Yay!
Welcome to the very pink studio.
It is very pink.
I like it.
It works for you.
We're glad, yeah.
Pink is your colour, who knew?
Too much different from my house.
You're our first ever couple.
Like how excited.
is that? I know. I'm very excited to be here. How do you feel, Connor? I'm like a little bit nervous
right now. Yeah, that's fine. Also, you are outnumbered. Yeah, that's okay. I'm outnumbered at home as well.
That's true. Yeah, that is true. As I said that, I thought, yeah. It's a good practice. Yeah.
We thought that obviously having someone on that is coming in from a bit more of a positive
angle, you know, we're so used to having guests that have maybe gone through heartbreak or
they're struggling with co-parenting,
whereas having someone, I guess,
that has successfully stayed together
for so many years,
it's just, I guess, quite refreshing to give that hope.
Having a man on here who actually is a good egg
is in a relationship, yeah.
He can vouch.
So there are good men out there, guys.
This is proof.
This is your pinniple of hope today.
This is such a good attitude to last night.
You weren't saying that last night.
I might not be saying it at the end.
Oh, what were you saying last night?
His bags you can't
I know he's got it all loaded
Save it for tomorrow
Save it for tomorrow
That's so funny
We have had a load of questions
Come in
So we're just going to literally
Get going
And if you want to overshare
Feel free
If you want to continue your argument
From last night
Also feel free
Because this is a safe space
For both of you
Just being public
counselling
I guess what we want to start with
Is that how did you guys meet?
This is actually a good story
because it started with me, not like stalking.
I wouldn't say I'd stalk through school,
but she was like the popular one.
I was the one trying to fit in,
you know, with a Justin Bieber hair,
but that didn't work out,
so that's probably why she didn't look my way.
But yeah, I remember at school being like the popular one,
and just watching from afar here and there,
you know what I mean,
had to watch go through a few boyfriends and tough times like that.
So how old we owe?
I was like 15.
Well, we were at like...
Secondary school.
Yeah.
Fine.
And then I actually worked with my best friend that we went to school with as well,
so she would have known him.
And I remember coming across him on Instagram.
And then he had quite a few followers.
And I remember it being 5,000.
And that was so many followers.
Yeah.
It's your way in.
I was like, I'm popular now.
Finally.
And he had completely changed.
He had all these tattoos.
And I screenshotted a photo and sent it to my friend.
And I was like, this can't be the same corner that we went to school with.
And I sent him a message on Facebook.
And I literally said, hi.
How are you? No kisses.
Oh so you.
I was so you aged out first.
Oh my God, that must have felt.
You know, it was all right.
I can't even remember it.
Yeah, it wasn't a big moment to be fair.
I was on holiday, basically.
And it was a day where I was.
For years as well, you said it took him 24 hours to reply.
For years he came.
I let us do it a bit.
Two years later, I went all the way back on our Facebook messages.
Eight minutes.
It took him.
Eight minutes.
In my mind.
That must have felt like forever.
In my mind, that was 24 hours.
So I gave it for eight minutes
So let I think
Oh my God, he's not getting back to me
But I was travelling home from a holiday on that day
And I just remember seeing it
I was like yeah, a little bit excited than that
We'll see where it goes
So I said hi back
And here we are
To be fair the first time we met
Like we kind of never left each other
Really?
I like gradually moved my stuff in
To his dad's without any conversation
I just bought a bag at a time
And I ended up living there
I would call it more you never left me
Yeah
then we never left each other, you know, because I didn't really have a say in it by most things now.
Is that, is that the secret to the successful marriage?
Yeah, just force your way in.
Yeah, that actually is incredibly true.
It is.
Yeah.
That is so funny.
So you literally like almost like grew up together but she didn't notice.
Yeah.
I watched her grow up.
Yeah.
And she met me a few years later.
That sounds so weird.
Did you actually know me in school?
Did you like, yeah.
But I knew you was.
I don't know if that's worse.
He was the weird kid, you know.
Was he?
Yeah.
Has he changed?
Yeah.
So you're not weird, you're not the weird kid anymore.
That's good.
That's actually good to know because I thought I was still there.
Well, he is deep down.
He's just the weird kid.
But you like the weird bits now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Did the tats help?
Yeah, he just had like such a glow-up and you didn't look like the Connor that I
remembered.
He looks so happy.
He's so chuffed with himself.
I feel like he hasn't heard this side of the story.
I know, right?
Yeah, one second.
Let me just press record.
I was in mind.
Yeah.
find some record.
So when you met, you were young
and you became parents very young as well,
talk us through like from dating to parenthood.
It was quite quick.
We had been together.
Not long.
Eight months, I think.
It wasn't planned.
Not as we planned.
Welcome.
This is why you're here.
There we go.
That's how we fit in.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
I think I had like itchy boobs.
How old were you at this point?
20. No.
Yeah, because I was 21 when we had a phone.
No, I was 21 and you were 20.
So, and I googled it and said it could be a sign of pregnancy
and I was like, so I did the test and straight away
and I remember I went back to his dad's house
and he was playing whatever game he was played at that point.
Destiny wasn't the time in case.
Yeah.
And I showed him the test.
and there was no reaction.
He just turned to the game off and he was like, let's just go to sleep.
We both laid down.
In my defence, it's not a great story.
But I was so shocked and scared.
It wasn't a bad reaction.
Yeah.
It was just out of nowhere.
I was literally chilling.
We were living at my dad's at the time and I was just, obviously just had my bedroom.
So that's where I reside.
And then she walked in and just showed me a stick.
And I was just like, oh my gosh.
I didn't really know.
I didn't know how to process it, did I?
Yeah.
It wasn't a bad reaction, but it wasn't like.
Like, it just, I think he was just shocked.
I suppose it's not something he's probably even disgusting.
No, it wasn't.
No, it wasn't, obviously.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I wasn't ever someone that was like, knew from when I was young that I wanted children.
Like, my mom always said to me, like, I was shocked when you were, when you fell pregnant.
So the next day, I get up and go to work and Connor.
Yeah, I drove to, so I rung my dad when I was at work.
I was working at a tattoo studio at a time.
And then I rang my dad and I was like, dad, I've got to come to work.
you about something and he was like 45 minutes away as well and I'd only just started driving
then I so it's quite a long way for me and then I turned up he literally just lent in the car
and he was like Charlotte's pregnant didn't she and I was like yeah you could just said that
over the phone and save me a 45 minute 30 and basically he did get in he got in the car and he
was like so do you do you think you're ready and I was like yeah like I think I'm good
for it and he goes well good luck and everything like that so he supported it even though it was
like really quick and I think like I was a bit worried that he was going to be like what
you're doing, you need to think, like, use your head, think straight and this and that.
But no, because he was so supportive and my mum as well when I told her, I just feel like
that made everything my side a lot easier and then I could focus on like supporting you for it.
But that's how it happened. We slept on it.
Did you guys ever with the relationship being so new and you both being so young, ever think
that maybe it wasn't the right thing? Or did you ever have that thought of, do we keep the baby?
It was actually never a conversation that we had
because I think by the next day
we both had had that conversation
he had spoken to his dad
he had time to process it
we were like well let's do this
like obviously
so I had just started a new job as well
and I think I was like a few weeks in
so that was quite like daunting
and like we didn't have anything
like we didn't have money like we were living at his dad's
my savings were in a DVD case
I had about 100 quid that's where I kept
That was my safe.
Like, in a DVD case.
We used to go to casino, like, every night.
And, yeah, things had to change.
But we knew, like, I knew I loved him, and he knew he loved me.
And I think when you know, you know, like, so we were just like, let's do this.
Really?
Yeah, like straight away, weren't it?
Yeah, and, yeah, we went into, I think a couple months later, we moved out.
again with nothing
my dad helped us with a deposit
his dad and my mom
helped us with like
furniture bits and bobs
I think my mum bought up a chair
you know like we
we literally just scraped
yeah scrape together
what you could
I think that's really
really refreshing
knowing that
two people starting a family
so young
and still being here
together having started
with nothing as well
I think it's
quite inspiring to sort of understand and know that journey because I know that you have mentioned
to me that at one point you guys did break up. Yes. And then get back together. That was a rough
too weird sign. When was that? Was that after Sophia? Yeah. She was about eight months old.
And I just think when I look back on it now, like I can completely understand what happened.
And when I see, like, young people having children and speak to them and stuff and hear their experiences, I'm like, I can relate.
I was there.
Like, I think when you're new to parenthood, like, it's nothing like you imagine because I think everyone sets a scene of just being this dreamy experience.
And it's actually so hard on a relationship.
And I think where I was at home and my family weren't really around, I relied on kind of, like, coming home to be, like, I would count down the minutes until he was coming home.
and like when he was like he'd be like oh I'm just getting fuel and I'd be furious because
that was an extra 10 minutes that was on my own opening the door like this honey I'm home and honestly
like I definitely take accountability for you know the way I just used to moan about everything but at the
same time like I there were so many things that you look back on now this like it wasn't just
your fault that it didn't work but because I was so young and I wouldn't say selfish but I didn't
understand I weren't the one at home with the baby and they're like now I understand but I
At the time, all it was to me was ringing again to see where I am.
You know what I mean?
So it's both of us, really, yeah.
And to me, it was like he doesn't understand how hard it is.
He thinks that, and I think until you're in that situation, you don't know,
because it wasn't until I went back to work when she was about one,
and then you had her at home for a few days on his own.
He was like, I truly understand now.
Yeah, that's very different.
Yeah, I think that we, I feel like for us on reflection,
now coming out of a marriage
and maybe looking back at,
and I'm not for a second suggesting
that had I done things differently,
I'd still be in my marriage,
but it's definitely sort of looking back
and being like, do you know what?
We weren't really like a team.
It was more like, no, I'm more tired.
No, no, no, no, I'm more tied.
And neither one is going to understand the day
of the other person.
Yeah, it is that point scoring.
But I've had to work all day.
Yeah.
And now you want me to help you with that.
And you're like, you had a coffee on your own and gone to the toilet.
And neither one is really going to understand the other.
And I think that's probably where the resentment then comes in.
100%.
The argument.
And I think it's, unfortunately, you go down one route like you guys
where you manage to sort of come together and understand each other.
Or, unfortunately, a lot of people who there's not this pinnacle, someone's had an affair,
someone's done this.
but it's the, you just end up on completely different pages.
I do also think sometimes it is the resentment of things like that,
that building up that don't get necessarily approached.
That do cause people to look elsewhere
or, you know, start to offload to someone else.
And there's, that's what I think, yeah.
I think with us, the saving grace was like,
because we were young and obviously communication wasn't there,
which was probably the whole issue,
because even having Penelope now,
like when she was younger and I was breastfeeding,
like he was so supportive
and he obviously understood everything that was going on
but he couldn't fully relate
because she's attached to me.
So it's just different experiences.
But we had had a holiday book to America to go.
His mom was getting married.
Oh, yeah.
So we were leaving Sophia with my mom
and we were going, I think, for 10 days or two weeks.
So that was booked.
And I said, why don't we go?
Why don't we just see what happens?
So this is when you had broken up?
Yeah.
Okay.
I forgot about this by the way, yeah.
See what happens, like, without Sophia, just us.
Like, we're still young, like, and we love each other.
It's just not working at the moment.
So we went and we had the best time.
And I feel like if we didn't do that, yeah.
If we didn't do that, it might be a different, like, story right now.
So you think that that is what sort of, like, brought you back together.
You need to remind yourselves.
Of who we are, like, we're with Conron and Charlotte,
we're not mum and dad, like, new mum and,
just stressing and point scoring and everything like that.
And I think like that goes true with everybody really.
Like when you do forget, yeah, that you're Connor and Charlotte and doing.
You're just mum and dad.
It's just constant.
Yeah, I'm doing this or you're doing that.
And like, don't get me wrong, we have bickers now, not point scoring.
Well, well, well, there is a little bit of point scoring still.
But it's like, yeah.
It's like, yeah.
Really petty.
I think it's like bickory.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, we don't, we barely argue.
I actually can't remember the last time we had a full-blown argument, do you know, a bad one?
No. And the only time we bicker is when the kids stress ourselves. Yeah.
Do you think? It's overstimulation as well.
Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. I get that even as a single parent. Like, when my kids are fighting,
I struggle to regulate. I struggle to deal with things in the right way. And it's the one thing
that sends me over the edge. Yeah. I've like having, I've been having mental breakdowns
or week. My kids are like, I don't know what's going on. Yeah. It's the heat or end of turn.
Yes, the heat. Yeah. I'm like trying to blame something.
but I can really relate to that.
Obviously, I do it on my own, but being with another person there,
I can imagine how that builds up.
Because, like, when one of us is out of the equation,
like, if you're out for the day, the kids stress me out,
but then, like, I don't have to, like, tiptoe around
or worry that I'm, like, in a mood, and then that's going to affect,
you know what I mean?
So it's, like, it's hard, but it's also...
So what would you say is the biggest thing that you guys tend to argue about?
I don't know, it will be, it will be when like something's building up.
Like, if I'm in a mood, but I haven't really expressed it and I'm kind of, it will do the same.
Like, we can tell when we're in the mood and it's like, just say, what's wrong?
Yeah, yeah.
Do you feel like you have similar conflicting style, like conflict styles or no?
No, sometimes like one more like shut off and not want to talk and someone else may want to be like, we need to talk about it now.
Like, how would you feel like?
I don't know, that's hard actually, because I feel like just depends what they were on.
We're a bit of both.
We're a bit like, sometimes I'd rather just be like, right, let's get it out of the way.
Yeah.
And then sometimes I can feel something building up.
And now, which does work like really well is I notice it.
And then I just kind of like stay out of the way or Charlotte stays out my way when she's feeling it.
And it works.
Because sometimes it is just a feeling and it goes.
It doesn't need to be spoken about.
You just need a minute.
Mm-hmm.
Because it's actually not that deep.
it's just in the moment and then...
But when it is something like, you know, when it isn't just something little,
then I do believe like just getting it out straight away.
I've said this, we've both said this since the beginning, like 12 years ago.
Like if you have a problem or something is winding you up or building up inside, like, just say it.
Just get it out of the way.
We can have a little...
Because it doesn't mean that I'm going to be like, okay, darling, or you're going to be the same.
Like, we can disagree.
And I think disagreeing is healthy.
We say this recently as well.
But holding on to it is like the worst things you do because you're holding on to something
little and then more things are.
stressing you out and the same with me as well and then it builds up and it builds up and then
randomly one day like in an argument when it's not even relative you're coming out with this
stuff and I'm like what's that guy what the hell yeah I don't I'm not even like that but if you said
it at the time I would maybe be able to like adjust be like yeah you are right like I'm sorry and
adjust or then be like no I don't think I am like that and then have our disagreement I will say he's
really good if I say something is bothering me that he does he's really good at taking it on board
and like changing that like to hear that
The best he can.
Like, I've never, obviously it's not him.
When it's serious.
I'm not asking him to change.
But like if there's something he does that is aggravating me or he's very good at taking it on board.
And then even with that, like, not recently.
It must have been last year now or something.
There was something you brought up.
And like, I agreed with it at the time.
But it's just the way that you actually come at me, like attacking me.
Like, I was like, there are ways that we could just like resolve this.
You know what I mean?
Without it just being, oh, you're snarky comments.
Yeah.
We have a few triggers each, don't we?
I think that's what it is.
I think that there's, we say it all the time,
no one's been taught how to communicate or deal with conflict,
especially when you have two people coming together
from different backgrounds, different family, upbringing.
And one person may come in and be a bit like raging and angry and like,
you've done this.
But of course, it's going to get received better if you're calm about it.
But then also like we're not robots.
And sometimes when you are at capacity,
you've had the kids all day
and then something
that one little thing
tips you over the edge
and then you're like
oh my God why are you doing that
and you'll suddenly be like
wow like I literally just like
that does happen
yeah it does happen
but it's just
I think even after all these years
like we know each other so well
but it's just in the moment
like whatever you're dealing with
at that point is like
because he's the closest person to me
he's the one that
gets it, you know?
Has there ever been, like, a big argument you've had where you've thought,
I don't know if there's any coming back from this.
Do you know what's funny?
I wasn't, I wasn't expecting that sort of reaction.
That wasn't a funny question.
No, I know.
It's not funny.
It's not funny.
But yes.
So, no, what I think is funny is like, I don't know why.
Imagine if this is the start.
Yeah.
And by the time this episode comes out, it's like, they're separated.
This might turn out like a couple's therapy, which I have mentioned in the past.
When is this time?
I didn't go down well.
Like loads.
But it's in my head, you know, like, I don't know what it is yet.
It's a problem of my own.
It's like, we'll have the, even when it's a little bicker and I'm like,
I don't want to be in a relationship like this.
And it's just like the tiny thing where we're just getting stressed out all the time.
But I'm like, nah.
And then 10 minutes later, I'm like, we're ready, ready to go back to it?
And I think it is so funny.
And that way we resolve so many things so quickly as well.
Like, we could have the worst argument.
but half an hour later, I can tell out the corner of my eye, like, we can joke now or have a little joke and it's gone.
That's what I mean by, like, sometimes if you don't say it at the moment it passes,
because when we have our bicker and then he's like, in my head, I just rage so much and I say all these things to myself in my head,
like what you just ask that, because it would be something little.
And I can't, you know, I don't know exactly what is I'm thinking, but yeah, I'm like, no, like, you can't swear, can you?
Yeah, go for it. I say cunt all the time.
Oh, you do?
For real, because we're a PG on my page, so I don't like, not swear.
I get Tash to say that one.
Whenever we read an email, it says it, she'll pause and I'll be like,
I think now, though, we don't have those, like, explosive arguments.
And there's not really one I can remember, but we definitely used to where I was like,
I can't do this anymore.
And what do you think has stopped the big arguments in the past to now them not
getting to that point?
What do you think you've learned along the way?
For me, it's just realizing how to deal with it.
Like, that isn't the way to deal with it.
And there's so many times where back in the relationship, like back in the day, I used to have a problem, not a problem, but I would easily get wound up and like lose my temper and stuff like that.
And that hasn't happened for like five, six years now, but it was a bad trait of mine.
And I just think it's over time.
Like, we've been together so long.
We've had so many arguments.
We've realized how to deal with it so many different ways that it's just not worth all of that, all that commotion and losing the temper.
And you always say when she gets really crossed and stuff.
like you're not like just because you're shouting doesn't make your point more valid
like you know.
That's the one conflict we have.
Yeah, I am quite shouting.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think as well like like you said, you were quite like a hot head.
You're better at that which that used to make me go.
And it brings me back down because when he's so calm, I'm like, oh.
Do you ever find because what's interesting is I think the fact that you used to be like that
and not so much anymore.
Do you think that then it's made you feel like you can't be
because you almost need to match it?
Yeah, because I feel like, because I'm very aware if I shout now,
I'm like, oh.
You're the only one shouting.
Yeah, I'm the problem right now.
It's almost highlighting where you're going wrong.
I found that in my relationship,
because I got back with my boyfriend after we broke up for a bit.
And I feel like the more work that he's done on himself
and the better he's showing up,
it's now sadly highlighting where I'm going wrong more.
And is that bad though?
But how do you look at it?
Because obviously he's doing the right thing, I feel.
It's only bad to my ego.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's good because now, instead of like him being shouty
and almost like putting the attention on him,
it's now actually, now that he's calm.
And then when I'm doing something, I'm like,
oh, he's not shouting anymore.
So actually how I'm being doesn't even,
it's not like warranted anymore.
So I think it's quite refreshing to hear
that you can have that sort of conflict style
when you were earlier in your relationship and that's completely changed.
Yeah.
And you mentioned therapy.
Yeah.
So actually, I did mention it, but like not in it.
I think it was taken the wrong way at the time.
So we were going through a lot of bickering again.
Like I said, it's nothing major all the time.
But it's just like coming home and we're bickering over nothing.
And it's just draining, isn't it?
Especially like for both of you and you both like it.
And I said to Charlotte, and it wasn't in an argument.
This was actually, I think this is what caught her off guard a little bit
because it was just randomly like a day or two later.
And I said, like, maybe we should just look into, like, what is it?
Relationship.
Yeah, relationship.
Yeah, relationship counseling or therapy.
But the way, like, Charlotte took that is, like, we need to sort each other out,
otherwise we're not going to work.
But what I meant by that is a therapist might be able to help, like, identify where we're clashing heads.
So, for example, oh, yeah, a good example.
It's like, we were recently on holiday.
And to be truthful, like, you were having a bad time.
Like, you were stressing about a lot.
You were overstimmed about a lot of stuff.
Oh, yeah.
And you were feeling ill or something like that.
But I was just trying to be as nice as I could, like, and trying to offer to do stuff and things like that.
But the way Charlotte kind of takes it, I don't know if this is exact, is like I'm being patronising or I don't know, like, I'm doing too much.
Do you remember it if you can help me with this because I can't remember exactly.
But I, truthfully, and this is why I was like losing the plot as well as because I'm, I've literally just tried to do everything I could to like make it easier for you.
Oh, that's it. I remember the comment. Do you remember it?
No, I don't. But I do, I do remember the thing because I remember the comment you took wrong.
and it was something like,
oh, get your head down,
like, go to sleep then.
But she took it as if I was telling her, like, go to sleep.
Or I don't know, do you remember from that?
Yeah, I think, because basically I think I was on my phone
and he was like, get your head down, go to sleep.
I took it out.
It's like, get off your phone then.
Go to sleep, do you know what you mean?
But it was because I was hypersensitive.
Yeah.
I was ill.
I was tired.
Like, so I think, yeah, we clash with tones.
And he definitely,
the one thing that annoys him is my facial expressions
and I'm really, I honestly can't help it.
I can't, I do it without even realizing.
I think as well when people bring up therapy,
I think automatically one of us goes into,
oh my God, like they're thinking about ending it.
Like this is crisis talk.
But I actually think therapy is the opposite.
I think even putting it out there, like it's like,
I think people associate it being something really bad,
but I think it's a really positive thing.
Like, wow, like if we can try and understand each other more
and just because we're different people.
If we can have a better understanding,
like imagine how strong this can be.
Exactly, yeah.
I think there's just a bit of a stigma
around the word therapy.
And I think all couples should have therapy.
I know people who, when they first,
I who was I talked to recently,
but in the very early stages when they got together,
I had a really interesting conversation with them.
They went to therapy straight away.
And they were like, we've come from all these different other relationships.
We don't want to bring that in.
I had a really interesting,
I think it was like the week, actually.
It was someone else spoke to it,
so her house at the weekend.
And they went straight in
and they're like so strong
and they're like, we never had this stigma around,
God, this is crisis,
this is how can we make this relationship amazing.
Yeah, but I think talking about different conflicts are
because no one learns it.
I think having marriage counselling or marriage therapy
is like school.
Yeah.
But for couples and like,
and I think if someone does come at you suggesting it
out of nowhere,
you are going to automatically go to the,
maybe defensive of like, oh, you think we need that.
But actually, when you really strip it down,
if you're already this good without it,
it's only going to improve.
Because we have to figure out each other's triggers
and setting each other off on our own.
But imagine there's someone from like the outside perspective
that's able to be like, right, you're reacting like this,
but she does it all, you know, and really help it out.
And the thing is, like, it wasn't like out of nowhere
when I brought it up.
It was just more the reason I didn't want to say it when we're arguing because that would have gone down like a
turn of bricks.
I'm bad with sayings by the way.
I'm bad of sayings.
I'm not going to do sayings.
I feel like a bag of potatoes.
I know a sack of potato.
I feel like Harley-Sontas says things.
I'm like, that is not correct.
I should make things up.
It sounds really good.
Yeah, I just say what I feel like I've heard before.
You say it with conviction.
I make up words instead that sound really clever and that it's like not a word.
I normally accidentally put like two sayings together.
That doesn't sound right.
That doesn't sound right.
But, yeah.
You got, you did a bit of like online therapy for yourself as well.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
I think that's nice.
I think, you know, Carly and I've spoken before about, you know, when you're dating or speaking
to a man, if someone were to ever say to us, like, oh, I've had therapy or I'm in therapy,
like, we love it.
Oh, that's good.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, I think that it shouldn't be viewed as like, oh, so he's got issues.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, it's rare for men to want to learn, do the work, take accountability, improve.
Because no one's perfect, are they?
We've all got issues.
We've all got flaws.
We've all been through shit.
Yeah.
So I think working on yourself and learning to like love yourself before then accepting someone
else or being with someone else is so important.
I think in that sense we are quite luckily.
We didn't have to go through loads of bad relationships first.
Yeah.
We were quite young so we didn't take any of that.
Yeah, be grateful for that, guys.
And do you know what is interesting is I always, not always thought, but
I sometimes have this perception that in order for a successful relationship,
you almost need to kiss the frogs, go through the heartbreak, to like grow.
But I think what's really refreshing, which I think I can tell by what you guys have
already said, is that you're learning through each other and growing together.
We've done it all together.
We have gone through so many stages of life together.
And like we said, obviously, we didn't always do this job.
Like we've been for all the jobs.
We've been through not having anything.
like and live it and having to ask to borrow money or get in debt to to live and we have
literally been through everything so what do you think's been the biggest strain like like either like
the kids the financial side of things like you know like because you obviously go through so many
different stages of life going from young parents to now what do you think were like the big
biggest strains on our relationship yeah I would say the kids it would be the stress when they were first born
And even now, it's like the kids.
You know the stages like Penelope is actually just, I'd say she's just coming out.
Don't jinx it.
But you know that stage where they're just so clinging it and they just moaned.
Do you parent, definitely?
Yeah.
I would say we do and we don't.
We used to.
I feel like we're quite on par now.
Do you think that's because the kids are older or you guys have changed?
I put mine down to me changing.
Yeah.
And sometimes I don't like have a bit of guilt because with the first two, like it was just pure stress.
We didn't have money.
And it's been so different with Penelope this time round.
And I think it's because we're older, we're more patient.
Obviously being a bit more comfortable helps as well.
But it's just like cherishing those stressful moments and knowing that they don't last.
Like with the first two, we were just in the deep air.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But with Penelope, like even like last night, it took her nearly an hour to go sleep and I was just cutting her.
And like, that would have stressed me out with Brody or Sophia so much.
I would have been like, oh, like, they're never going to sleep.
Like, but I'm like, you know, I'm not going to be doing this when she's...
Do you feel like you've been able to really like almost like embrace every moment
because you know it's all the phase?
It goes so quickly.
And like you said, you've done it all.
Yeah.
What was it like going back to the beginning?
Yeah, what are your age of people listening who don't know?
What's the difference in ages between your kids?
And we have 10.
Our boy will be eight next week and then a one-year-old.
So there's what, nine and six?
Yeah, nine and six, and then she was born when there were nine and six, was it?
So, yeah.
So we said we weren't going to do it again.
I remember, we used to speak and you were like, you're done.
Completely done.
What changed your mind?
When they lost their dependency for me, 100%.
Yeah, I think he's someone to need me.
Yeah, and that is actually how it is.
And I dread now when Penelope gets a little bit older because it was just horrible.
So it went from in the mornings.
helping getting Brody dressed, An Sophia dress, doing their socks, brushing their teeth.
And then all of a sudden, they're like doing it on their own.
So I'm making myself a coffee.
And this was before Penelope.
And it was like, yeah, it felt empty.
And because we're at home, aren't we?
Like, we work from home.
Yeah.
And we choose our schedules.
We choose our jobs.
Like, we are very busy.
But at the same time, we are at home.
So I'm like, we could.
And we also have the finances where we wouldn't have struggled the way we struggled before.
So, yeah, we were like...
Yeah, that was the turning point for us
and then we kind of tried, didn't we?
We like tried but didn't try, you know?
Yeah, just stopped to try and not to happen.
Yeah.
And I didn't struggle with like the going back to the bottles
or anything like that.
I think I struggled with now balancing time between older
because they're all at so...
Different stage.
The older two kind of do the same thing.
Like if we were to take them out,
we'll be doing the same thing with them.
Whereas obviously now the baby,
someone's got to sit out with them.
Whereas we would always like, it'd be one to one on a ride or whatever.
So I think I struggled with that.
Like, not guilt because they've got, like, we do so much with them.
Do you?
I feel guilt with it.
Charlotte always tells me to relax.
But every day, like, I think I put a lot of pressure on myself.
Because trying to balance, like, the attention to all three, it's impossible with a baby.
Because then if I'm still giving the older two, like, more attention,
then Charlotte's getting less help and attention with Penelope.
And then so let's say Penelope has gone bad.
and it's like seven half seven.
The kids only have an hour and hour and a half that they're still awake.
So it's just hard to balance that attention.
And I think that's the one, that's the only, the one negative about having another baby
is the guilt that I feel about taking that attention off the older two.
Because it did go from as soon as they got home, if you were chilling with Sophia or the kids
would be with me gaming and stuff like that.
And now it's more like, right, kids, I'll see you when we've finished like sorting Penelope.
But now, I mean, I think as like Sophia's kind of come into.
like loving being with Penelope and stuff now.
That's cute.
Yeah.
It is a lot better because she will sit with us with Penelope.
She was cold to begin.
Was she?
Yeah.
Did she struggle?
Yes.
I do you remember that I think it was like week two of me being home.
She was horrible to me.
Oh my God.
Yeah.
Horrible to me.
And I think she was really punishing me.
And I think it did take her a long time.
Like obviously it's such a change.
And she wasn't exactly like over the moon.
when we told her we were pregnant.
Oh really?
Like, it's hard for them to articulate how they're feeling.
They have all these fears that they don't really know how to speak about.
Yeah, but she loves her so much.
And Penelopee is obsessed with both of them.
Yeah.
And she's really enjoying it now.
Like she's like, can I put her in the car?
Like, but yeah, it was, it took a while.
But, I mean, I kind of let her like.
Yeah, we didn't like, oh, you should be doing more with her reports.
No, no, no, no.
And I also, like,
Like let her have her moods and but there was one point where she was just horrible to me and I was just like she did make me cry and you then did shout at her which he never does.
And then I had to cry.
And then he had crying.
It's bad.
Yeah.
I think that I'm not saying that men don't get like dad guilt.
But I guess we don't really ever speak to many men.
All the content we hate that all the content that we get in and all the emails is very.
much like, you know, the dad's not around, the dad has left. So it's just nice to hear that.
He has more guilt than me because I think obviously when you have a baby as well, when she goes
to bed, I'm like, you know, I'm like, I'm tired. But then he's like, right, should we play
Uno? And I'm like, she means when Penelope goes bed and the older two is still up. Because I'm
still trying to make the most of them being awake. And like, I don't want them. They don't just,
let's say, for example, like to spend some time on her iPad or doing a hair. And, you know,
and she's just on her own.
I'm like, we can still make the most of it and still get timing with the kids.
But yeah, Charlotte's clocked out by then.
So it is hard.
But I do get involved.
That's where I struggle is because I'm really tired and I'm like,
I'm ready for this to be my time.
But I also do want to spend time with the kids.
I love doing the games and stuff.
It's when they start like bickering and stuff.
I'm too tired.
Short views when we're playing, Oino.
And we do play a lot.
Yeah.
Yeah, we love ball games.
That's not a thing, isn't it?
I'm like, most time.
As it stands, like I am happy with like how much we do with all the kids.
So I haven't got much guilt going on at the minute.
But when you talk about shouting,
when I have lost my temple with like Sophia,
which was, you remember that one there?
I can't remember what it was,
but she was just being so disrespectful to Charlotte.
And I can't just stand there and let it happen
because I don't want to be guilty.
Like I don't want to shout at her.
And then yeah, she went upstairs.
I felt my chin wobbling.
I was like, it's all good.
I'm good.
And then Charlotte come behind me and she's like, are you okay?
And I was like, oh, I know.
When you're like trying to hold back the tears
and someone's like, are you okay?
Yeah.
The lump in your throat.
So no more kids?
Or maybe.
It's not up to me.
Oh, well that's not enough.
It's not completely close.
No, I would love to have like a couple more kids.
We'd be great.
I live for the chaos now.
And like I said, when they lost their dependency, I dread that again.
I think it's hard like, like I said, we're coming out of that stage at the moment.
Obviously there's going to be tantrums.
So if you're going to.
Yeah.
But if you'd ask me like, a few weeks ago, I would have been like, no.
things have turned
and then at the same time like
yeah we've got three kids
yeah at the moment it's a really nice dynamic
but also we both still so young
yeah yeah
I would never say never
but at the moment like I'm quite happy
with the way it is
and if we didn't have one I would also still be happy
you know so it's like
yeah yeah I think it's nice
but Sophia has definitely expressed
no more oh really
you're on a bad
we would also have to redo that
Do you think that she, does she run the house?
Like, is it?
No, I think she, like, she thinks she wants us to her, not to herself, but to them.
Yeah, I know.
That's quite nice at the same time though, isn't it?
It's like that catch-22.
Yeah.
Because it's like how lovely that she still wants that.
And when we have a day just her, she's a completely different person.
Oh, my gosh.
Not that she isn't lovely without, but she is just so nice.
It's so not, it's weird to see, like, how different she can be.
But also nice as well.
But she like, she does like really enjoy it now, I think because Penelope is a bit older and she can play with her.
Wait until she can do her hair and stuff. She'll love that. Yeah, she'll love that. Do you feel, were you worried when you have Penelope how that would impact your relationship, knowing the stresses of what kids sort of did last time?
No, because both our kids were young at the same time. Whereas they're older and like the way I see it is they would be at school, majority.
of the time. Obviously there are times when like Penelope is stressing me out and I'm kind of
just like and there's been a couple of occasions where I've gone to the kids and said I'm
really sorry for being so stressy like you know when she's gone to bed and you kind of take a moment
and you're like maybe I was a bit short for you. That's one thing I make sure to do as well actually
to be fair is after like when I mentioned having a little wobble after crying there
like it will give it like an hour and I'll go up and explain like I am sorry for shout at you and
explain why I shouted. I like to do that just so that they don't, they're not left on me,
just glass in them.
100% what? It's showing them how to take accountability. Yeah, and that as well. But also showing
that you're a human as well. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. And that's what I've said to in the past,
like, look, Daddy was just like, he was a loss his temper and, you know, he shouted. And I said,
there is normal. Like, people do lose their temper and they shout. But what I said that isn't
normal is, is taken out on you. Like, so I say, I'm sorry, Sophia. I apologize for her, blah, blah,
and I think, like you said there, it helps then in the future. Like, hopefully she realizes,
When she's lost their shit,
lost, oh yeah, I can swear.
Yeah, go for it and go for it.
I'm so used to having to not.
So, like, if she loses their shit when she's older,
she can realise, no, like,
daddy used to take account with her and realise it was wrong.
And I think it is a good thing to be able to do.
100%.
I think that kids learn from, like, watching what you do.
So I feel like I always say that to my kids.
I think it's so important to apologise to be like,
I actually did wrong.
Yeah, yeah.
We say that to both, don't we?
Not just with, like, shout and stuff.
But if you're wrong, like, it's cool.
You can be wrong.
Like it's no problem.
Oh yeah. I've had situations where I may be like, you didn't, you didn't put your
your thing in the sink and they'd be like, yeah, yeah, I did.
No, you didn't.
And then they show me they did and I'm like, I'm so sorry.
Do you know what I mean?
Rather than being like, oh, okay.
Imagine not saying sorry.
And then it's like, yeah.
Yeah, you've got to set that example.
I think as well since they, since Penalopi was born, we've made a like conscious effort
of having our alone time with each.
That's what I wanted to ask you.
They had someone ask us almost like, what are you.
non-negotiables in your marriage, like whether that is regular date nights or, you know,
not going to bed on an argument? Are there certain rituals or things that you stick to?
You know what? Funny you brought that up there because I was going to say that at the moment,
like the way our relationship is now, I don't think we're going on enough date nights. And that's
partly on me, isn't it? Because... I think we can feel when we need a date now. It's like, there's
a bit of tension. We're like, right, okay, like, let's go out, have a bit of a lone time.
How often would you say you do that or would like to? No, no. Like, probably every few times.
So anniversary and stuff like that.
So it isn't enough whatsoever.
But it's hard, isn't it?
Yeah.
Because the only person, no, the only person that we have is his dad because my dad works.
My mum's in Devon.
His mum's in Florida.
And it is amazing, bless me, helps whenever we ask.
But most of the time when we ask and what we use it for is like when we have work stuff
or important stuff not to just go on a day.
Then you feel bad asking too much.
I understand that.
And I mean, we do like, well, we go to, so we have a nanny now.
So Penelope goes to, well she's with her now.
So we like are starting to kind of get that time back.
So every time she goes.
Yeah, we go to the gym together.
And then like if we're not going to the gym because we've got something else
and we'll go for breakfast together.
So like we do.
So you probably do without even realising it.
It's like incorporated into your routine.
Yeah.
And because we spend, what we do is with Penelope or without is like we spend the day together.
We go for breakfast.
Which I guess a lot of people don't.
Yeah. So thinking about it now, like we do.
do spend a lot of time together.
But, yeah, date nights, obviously, it just looks a little bit different.
Like, we'll have the odd date night where we, like, get dressed up and go out in the evening.
But for me, I want to, I don't want it to be too late because I don't want his dad over too late because he's got work.
And then also it's like, you've got get the baby down.
It's the organisation, isn't it?
It's a military operation before you've even left the house.
So, yeah.
Yeah, we could do more then.
We didn't mind them.
Definitely.
What are your thoughts on going to bed in an argument?
Oh no, like I can't, oh my God, even if I'm not in the wrong.
Like sometimes I'll be like, yeah, right, no, you know, like we won't.
I could not do that.
We won't, well, it won't be an argument, but it won't be like resolved.
It won't be resolved and that's so bad, don't you think?
Like, we've had an argument yet.
And even if I am in the wrong, I do push for a little bit like, all right, good night, I love you.
And I just wait for a little good night or I love you back or at least just one kiss on a text.
We can sleep now.
And then, like, in the morning we'll be alright anyway.
Like, how many times have we bickered or had an argument?
I actually can't think where we've carried it on in the morning.
I lie.
Sometimes we are quite quiet in the morning.
We don't say anything.
But then once everything's ready and we can, like, pour the coffee.
We're like normal then.
Who tends to give in?
Me?
Every time because you won't.
Ever.
Oh, my God.
I am so stubborn.
So stubborn.
I admit.
But I really like that, like, you still do that and you know it.
Yeah, because.
You just know your role.
Exactly.
He'll message me.
Like, if we've just had like a bicker, he'll message me like,
you're going to stop being a dickhead now.
I mean, like, and I'm like, yeah.
Do you know what I mean?
Like in, not in a serious.
But in a bit of banter to break the eyes.
Well, I know, like, it's severe right now.
I know she's pissed and I know I'm a little bit pissed as well.
But to be truthful, like, there's been times in the morning
where we've had a big, like, bicker.
And so she's gone to the gym where I've taken the kids to school.
And by the time I'm home, like, I just want to carry on the day good.
I don't really care.
I don't care that much about.
arguing and staying in the mood with each other,
whether that's your favourite thing to do.
And it's fine.
So, like, I will try my best to, on the way home,
be like, look, let's sweep under the carpet.
I will say sorry.
I'm sorry for my side.
Let's sweep on the carpet and have a good day.
But like, he'll do that and because I'm so stubborn,
I'm like, yeah, okay.
Yeah.
And then so I'll be like, so are you sweeping it under the carpet as well?
Are we both sweeping it under the carpet?
Is it just me?
Well, I'm going to say sorry.
You're going to say sorry.
And I'm like, oh, yeah.
So it works out.
But he's very good.
at, well, he's just very good at me now, isn't he?
I guess he doesn't know.
You know, you know, inside that.
Also, it's like picking your battles, isn't it?
Yeah, 100%.
And I know when not to do that.
I know when it is serious and I will give her the space.
Like, even though it kills me, it's like eight minutes, 24 hours.
I'm glad that you do it because, like, because I am so stubborn, I probably would have
let's like, there's no point wasting a whole day.
So let's just go out and enjoy the day.
Like, we've got this, like, beautiful life.
What's the point in?
Do you know what it is?
I can't enjoy my day if I know that she's pissed at me.
I can't go to the gym and focus because it's just not the same.
I need to be.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
I get that.
So knowing how well you two know each other, do you have like any icks about each other
that you're just like what the other person does and you're a bit like.
Have where you go first?
You go first.
And then I'll base mine off that.
I'll get my list down on my phone.
You just got it in the notes.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah.
No, honestly, you say yours.
I don't know if I have any icks.
Or things he does that annoy you.
Hold on, do you make a comment about his top today?
I like it.
I actually, I don't mind your top.
It's a bit like that, yeah.
I bought this the other day in Barcelona.
I saved it for this special occasion.
That's cute.
I think I have things that like...
Yeah, you do, babe.
Irritate me.
Yeah, irritate me.
Like, I don't know, he'll be stressed and I can like visibly see that he needs some time out,
but he won't do it.
Like, I physically had to force him to go away with his friends.
for a few days because I'm like you need some time out like you will not see you're no good to me
now yeah yeah go and have your own time but he's like no I'll miss the kids and I'm like but it's good
to miss your kids like come back refreshed you're a better man for it we all are yeah it's hard
to I get that um so it's like I feel like I have to like kind of notice that for him because I can
see when he gets to a stage where he's like I'm like you're going to have a time out why don't you
go see your dad like you need a minute because otherwise I know I know
that if he goes any longer, then we'll start arguing.
He needs that time, but he can't recognise it.
Because, like, on the other hand, you're saying, like, go somewhere to, like, chill out.
But my favourite place is at home.
So, like, where am I supposed to go?
Like, maybe you go.
Where am I meant to go?
Where am I meant to go?
Where do you go out?
And I'm like, I want to be here.
No, I do understand that, actually, to be fair.
And it does happen.
What other things you got with me anyway?
And that's not Nick.
That's just, uh.
That's almost like an observation of what...
Yeah, frustrates me.
Yeah, there's things that frustrate me.
Just like, I do have one, actually.
Whenever we see someone yet, and we haven't spoken to them a while,
his favourite thing to say is,
haven't been watching anything recently.
I am also interested.
And every time he does it, I'm like...
I am interested at the same time.
We run out of things to watch all the time.
Yeah, well...
Rude.
We put it out with the next argument.
I am interested, though, if you do, yeah, if you are watching series.
But that's what I'm saying, we always run out of things to watch.
I know, I know.
That is a good conversation.
That is such a random question.
Like, what are you watching at the minute?
What are you watching?
It's such an easy question as well, because you can't go wrong because you know they're going to be watching something.
So it's not saying like, it's not like saying, oh, have you been watching the football.
They might not like football.
But they're definitely going to have been watching some on the TV.
When we just have been there, he had a one-liner as well.
Yeah, we got too old and we just decided to go all the way back and do it again.
And every person that saw Penna Bielsa.
Yep.
Also, let them know that we're seasoned bets.
Sometimes they're looking at a baby and be like, oh, how are you two cope?
And it's like, we're good.
We're done.
Yeah.
I know.
I know.
I'm just like, let me just let me know.
I've got a 10 year old as well, actually.
But yeah, no, that's not too bad then if that's all you've got against me.
I feel like they're going to come.
They're going to come up in there later.
No, go on.
I remember.
Yeah.
Charlotte, I think you are, you know what like things.
No, we're doing X, not triggers, right?
But her faces are an issue.
Yeah.
They're an issue.
They're an issue to the point where, like she said,
she doesn't even realize she's making them.
And, like, I don't know why I hate it so much,
but I do honestly, it would just be something so little.
Oh, my God, the thing you know.
It's like she'll wait for me to see it, you know?
So I can feel it's doing a face to her anyway.
Like I've said something she's doing face,
but then I'll look up and she'll be like,
and then she'll look away.
And I'm like, oh, you didn't need to.
Or like rolling her eyes of stuff.
You don't need to roll your eyes.
No, so I have been told it's my tone.
It's not what I say, it's how I say it.
Apparently I do speak like I'm in court in an argument.
I've been told that as well.
But I have been told I'd be a good defence lawyer.
So watch this space.
Yeah.
Yeah, tone.
I feel like you can't, what I think I hear is apparently what.
Yeah, I'm quite bad at that.
It's like text, isn't it?
Yeah.
And that's where I mentioned the therapy because a lot of the time,
maybe not all the time, you are right?
Sometimes I, well, I did do the tone on purpose.
But sometimes, like, she was saying, that's how he said it.
And I'm like, no, no, no.
Like, or it's patronising.
I weren't trying to be patronising.
I promised you, I actually really promised you.
I weren't trying to be patronising.
One thing that I think is me as well is when I can see that he's like, there's something wrong.
And I'd be like, you're right, yeah, you.
And I'm like, yeah.
That's me picking my right.
That's, that's me when it's something little that doesn't need bringing up.
Because I know it would be an argument and I won't care in 10 minutes.
So that is where we need work as well to be fair because you won't let that go.
You'll be like, no, tell me.
And then I have to say it and then it's a little bicker.
But I know in my head, in 10 minutes I actually won't care about it.
So don't worry about it.
But then she's like, what's wrong?
And I'm like, nothing.
I'm good. Are you good?
That's my thing.
You're like, what's wrong?
Nothing?
You?
You good?
And then what are you like?
And then you're like, why'd you say that?
Sometimes.
Sometimes I'm like, okay.
Depends what mood I'm in.
Yeah.
And then other than that, well, no, I don't really have other things that I can think of right now.
The face has just been an issue these 12 years.
years. Maybe we should have given you some homework before you come.
Write down. Yeah. Yeah.
And I thought you'd have your list loaded to be fair. I don't have any.
If I remember some along the way. Should a message us later. Yeah.
You should have said that. Can you add that in there? That's so funny. Can we talk about your
social media? For anyone that doesn't know, well, they will know by the end of this anyway.
You both have your individual pages, but then you do like YouTube together. What got you into that?
you've got a massive audience,
so people obviously love what you do.
I feel like it is just, you are just yourselves,
which I think is so nice.
It really is.
What, do you think that that has had an impact
on your relationship in a positive way, in a negative way?
Do either of you get affected or bothered
by the opposite sex giving attention to each other?
Do you know, one thing that I would say about our relationship
is there never has been.
In 12 years, I don't think.
she's never been like where you're going no never and like we've had the odd like inappropriate comment
what's funny oh yeah like i'd say 80% of your following is women yeah it's mum's like that's our audience
both of us and that doesn't bother that that doesn't absolutely not it doesn't bother me when someone
says he's good look here it honestly like i'm very comfortable in our relationship that i don't
think like i i think he is good looking so if you think he's good looking great that's what i'm saying
When people say it like Charlotte, oh, you know, when people get like riled up, they're like, oh, because some dude thinks their wife is built or something like that.
I agree.
Thank you so much, you know what I mean?
But you don't get that too much, do you?
Like, I do see a few comments.
But like the same when they say it to me.
I just take it as a compliment.
I think there are like boundaries when people overstep it.
And then there have been ones that like, yeah, just block them straight away because if they're doing it once, they're going to say inappropriate stuff like loads.
But when people are genuinely being nice, I don't see the problem about it.
And there's so many times in like my comments, someone will say something.
And it is genuinely just like, oh, he's, he's hot or stuff like that.
And the same with you.
And then they're arguing like, that's so inappropriate, this or this.
But we would just take it as a compliment.
I don't care.
Like, it's someone being nice.
You can tell when someone's being nice.
I'm when someone's being like.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because I think social media can sometimes be quite difficult.
With us having both experience dating as content creators, I think sometimes it can be quite,
off-putting to men.
But I think that does come, yeah,
from an insecure place or a bit of like,
oh, like, do you get loads of slides?
I just think as well, if I was so, like,
worried if he got a DM that I thought,
oh, my God, that means he's going to run.
Like, I shouldn't, you shouldn't be married to him.
Yeah, 100%.
I, he literally, I feel like I could trust him
that if a woman, if I was not here and a woman came in
and fucking tried to sit on his lap,
I would not have a worry
because he would absolutely remove himself
for the situation.
Like, I, yeah, I just,
I just don't think there's ever a situation
that I would ever be worried.
And do you feel like you both feel that way
because of what you almost put into the relationship?
Do you think you're both secure
because of how you are with each other
or you're just secure people?
I personally, I believe the reason why I'm so secure with Charlotte
is because she's never given me a reason to not be.
Because to be truthful, like with their,
never really had a proper relationship.
before but like things here and there, I was quite jealous.
And when you think like it was because they did things that made me jealous.
And that's not like going out.
That's not enough to make you jealous if you're not even,
but things to purpose.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I was, I was cheated on in a past relationship.
Like, with someone that I thought like I was really into.
And that did really hurt me.
But I just think like I feel very secure because I feel very loved.
Like, I can feel that.
And when we were having difficult times,
I still felt love, but I didn't feel like, I don't know, I just feel like he's my best friend
and I feel like if there was something ever going on, like I would realize that something's
changed and I feel loved, he's my best friend, there's no one in the world and I think you feel
the same that I would want to talk to, go to about anything and I feel like if you're, if someone
was to mess that up, like if that's not what the goal is, then what is it? Like, what are you,
like why would you mess that up?
Like, and I know we wouldn't, so I just...
Question for you.
And it may not be relevant
because maybe neither of you have this,
but what are your thoughts on platonic,
um, male, female,
friendships?
You've got best friend.
Um, not, not romantic.
Oh, okay. Oh yeah, yeah.
Oh yeah, Becky. I haven't spoke to in so long.
But when we went into a relationship,
my best friend was, uh, was a woman.
Was Becky.
I knew if we were talking, you were in, um,
Oh, literally. Oh my God.
You just come back from Paris with her.
They drove there and like...
Yeah, we went on sick road trip back in the day.
I did go to school with her so I do know her.
Yeah.
We still meet up. We haven't in a while but we still meet up altogether.
I think when do we go to cinema?
Was that our first meet?
Or I said, our first meet.
She dropped her there.
Dropped me there.
And then Charlotte dropped me back at her house after.
So I think even from the get-go, when you think of stuff like that, like, and I've said to this to Charlotte in the past, like, I think one main thing that has made us work so well in a relationship.
And it's the same way back is, like,
Like, she's never been a problem with that, like, or made problems of little things.
And when there has been a worry, not with anything like that, but other stuff.
Like we said, do you bring it up straight away and then it's sorted?
Especially if it was something you were concerned about like that.
Like if you were to bring it up straight away, then we can not attack it.
What's it called?
Reassure it.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
You go through the problem.
Unpack it, I think, is the best way to say it.
I think in this industry as well, you go to so many different, like, I mean, you went to Ibifa.
I went to Ibiza.
Like, that was never an issue.
You know, I just, yeah, I just think, like,
he's a good-looking person.
I don't doubt that if he goes to Ibiza,
a girl might try it on,
but I have every faith that he would be like,
oh, no, sorry, I'm married.
I love that energy.
Yeah, and it's the same with me.
Like, not, I don't think I've ever had it,
but if someone was trying to talk to me,
I'd be like, oh, you know, sorry.
I think you can still be respectful.
100%.
People don't know.
Well, that's not.
To be like, go talk to me or a man.
You're not wearing a badge that says I'm married.
Obviously you're wearing rings, but people like,
I'm not going to respect before they talk to you, you know?
So.
But I think that's the other thing as well.
Like, you can talk to other sexes and not be flipping all over and stuff like that.
Like, you can have 10%.
Yeah, yeah.
Like you said, like both going to Ibitha, like in this industry with the events you go to,
people that might approach you or talk to you,
you're going to have interaction with the opposite sex.
I think a lot of the emails that we get predominantly,
that affairs tend to happen at work
because that's who people are like, you know, with every day.
Yeah, and you build a relationship with each other
when you're at work and we're the same person every day, don't you?
So I think that's where some people probably have that.
I mean, don't get me wrong, with all the emails we read,
every single one treated with a work colleague.
You know, it does sometimes get in my head and I'm like,
I'm like, I need to find a man that works himself on his own.
Do you know what I mean?
Or doesn't work.
Yeah, that just doesn't work.
That's fine.
As long as he's not going to where other people are.
But no, I think that's really refreshing
because I don't think that,
I mean, I still don't even know my thoughts
on platonic relationships.
I think because...
I think...
I've just had bad experience.
There's got to be boundaries, isn't there?
There's got to be boundaries.
I, like, with his friend,
I knew her from school.
I know they've been friends.
So how about if it was a new friend?
A new one, yeah.
Yeah, I don't know.
How about if she made...
If she made a new friend, male,
yeah.
Chutting on the phone.
Is that your boundary?
Is that like, that would be weird?
Yeah, I think if you were to say, like,
I'm going to go for a coffee with, like, John,
I wouldn't like be like, what the fuck do you mean you go over coffee,
John?
But in my head, I'd be like, there's a lot of coffees you're going for.
Like, a lot of, like, it would be.
Like, that's you two building, like, not a relationship.
But a friendship.
You're getting close.
Yeah.
I wouldn't see it as a threat straight away,
but I don't think I would like it all the time.
I think for me as well
if you had someone like that
I'd like
you don't like
Like bring me with
Why can't I come
You know what's established
Why do you need that person
Because I should be that person
Yeah yeah
But like I mean
At the same time
At the same time
We've got so many different sex
Friends
Yeah
I wouldn't go out my way
To hang out with them on their own
Because I don't think that's like
I feel like also
A lot of your friends
Are probably couples
Yeah couples
And or in the same like space as us
So, like for example, I'm trying to think of a career that we're close with.
Like, if you were to say you're going out all the time, a coffee with them, it wouldn't actually ever be a problem.
Yeah, I can't think right now, but.
But, you know, like, yeah, so that's different.
Like, someone that we already know, even if it is someone new that you're like, I'm going out with all the time.
I genuinely don't think I'd ever see a problem with that.
It's just someone that I don't know, maybe.
Like, then I'd be like, oh, who is this person?
Yeah, who is always wanting to go and chill.
Where do you make this phone from?
Yeah, like, chill with me.
I'm cool.
What would you say is the biggest misconception?
that people have about your relationship.
That Charlotte is like horrible all the time.
Yeah.
Really?
I can't sing that.
Yeah.
No.
I don't think my content helps it.
But my content is reality.
Is how we are.
I wind up.
We bick up.
The joky banter.
And we do like, although it is all real, like sometimes we will like just emphasize
it a little bit.
Do you know what I mean?
So like Charlotte will be a little bit more like, like what are you doing?
When I'm trying to do something like, I wind her up and do something in them
fun or unexpected.
So a lot of people maybe don't understand.
that and assume that like Charlotte is just mistrunchable.
Yeah, yeah, you're so mean to your husband.
Oh really. He loves you. Yeah, I'm like, she is mean to me actually.
But it doesn't, it doesn't bother me because I, well, you know, we know your relationship.
And we are, we are like that. Like he is very, like, he winds me up. I'm very sarcastic. I'm very,
like a big kid. Like, yeah. Like, yeah. You are me? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think that's the
biggest misconception because people actually genuinely believe like she's their party people all the time
or like I'm scared of her because of the way I'm acting in it.
But true followers that have been around like they get your relationship.
They get it.
And it's so funny because people will comment something horrible and then I don't even have to say anything because people are in the best.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We've got people who defend that as well.
Would you say you get much trolling?
Oh yeah, yeah.
100%.
Who do you think gets more?
Time. We're like bullshit, like comments all the time. Well, I'm guessing me now. I actually, it's quite, I mean, I've had a few diehard trolls. Oh my God, I've got one that I'm hoping to become friends.
What? No, I am. He's trying to change him. Yeah, I am. He's actually been a mission for a while. Oh, God, you're like some of the women that he's trying to fix them. No, it's just I don't get what it is because he's not nasty. He's never nasty, but every single video.
that I post every single one he will just comment like must be a busy day again or busy day
not working or take it easy on yourself like I'll post a video of me and Penelty having fun it's
like yeah yeah and sometimes I find him funny um and like I reply to him all the time like I haven't
seen you in a couple of times if he doesn't reply to one and he's done a couple in the past where
it's applied and I'm like I'm getting you I'm getting you a little bit I'm going to be
friendly like you I don't know he wants to be your man he must do just think he's watching your content
There's a comment on every single one.
I just think, I don't know.
That's a sad life if you actually hates it.
I think my, a bad trait of mine is like I end up feeling sorry for people even if they're being pricks.
Yeah, so much.
I understand this.
So much.
It's actually wild.
Sometimes I'm in my head.
I'm like, no, what are you fucking doing?
Like, feeling bad for him.
Especially when people come on and they're saying outrageous stuff and I'm just thinking like, man, like, you're sat at home.
Like, you're just coming in this.
Like, what are you at?
I'm sorry that you've got nothing to like enjoy.
Yeah, that's what I thought I say about.
They're just chilling with your family.
Like, go get some.
Yeah, yeah, genuinely.
Like, I'm sorry to that boy, I love replying to a trial.
See, I don't, I don't, I don't.
I find, I find it, I find it quite.
I think that's why as well.
I need to do it to every now and again, someone's just got me.
Yeah.
Yeah, it depends on the middle.
You got five minutes, yeah.
You caught me.
Yeah.
I'm going in on you.
How many times have you?
Yeah.
And then delete.
I know, I don't delete.
Oh, do you know?
Oh, wow.
Oh, well.
Oh, well.
Oh, well.
No, I'm, I'm quite lucky.
I don't.
But I think because I normally either either
ignore or I don't really learn and then like I you know like you see a lot of people and I think
this is um where you get like views but the wrong views is like when they apply to so many
negative comments your views are there it gets you the views because people love the drama but like
I never want to be that page that people come to because they think yeah yeah so if you just ignore
it people just get bored get bored because they're not getting a reaction yeah and so yeah so
I mean, I have seen a few, like, troll comments on yours.
With mine, though.
But I think they are, in comparison, they're minor.
And I've never really been one to care about people.
I was weird in school.
I'm used to it, do you know what I mean?
Like, I got thick skin in school, so it's been great in my adult life.
But all the comments that I get, or all the trolls, or all the bad comments, or the
hate or whatever, like, it's just so minute minor, like, oh, you're a bad parent
because of all your tattoos.
Like, that doesn't make me a bad parent because I've got those tattoos.
And also, what I've all tried to teach, not teach Charlotte, but when Charlotte was affected
by it all the time.
and I try to tell the kids for when they like get it later in life at school or whatever.
It's like just because people are saying this, that doesn't mean it's true.
Like that has no power.
No, if you feel it, if you feel guilty from it, it's going to hurt more because it maybe is a little bit true inside.
But someone calling me a bad dad because I've got loads of tattoos like that, I know I'm a sick dad.
I'm not a bad dad now because three or four people have said it, do you know what I mean?
So they have no like substance.
They shouldn't stick.
And I know it would stick if you were feeling guilty for whatever that person said.
Like it used to be a bit, what is it called?
You were a bit when you're worried about something?
Oh, conscious.
Conscious about like if your weight or if someone would comment on that.
So they would hurt because she felt it inside.
Because that was like a fit.
Yeah, yeah.
I feel that way.
If someone's rude about my parenting, I don't give a shit because I know who I am as a mind.
I feel like my appearance would hit harder because if they're hitting an insecurity of mine,
that's when it takes a lot more.
A lot more power to sort of like be able to recover from that.
So I understand that.
That's why I hesitate from being like I am vulnerable online.
Like I'll show when we have, when we've had a natural argument,
I will talk about it and stuff like that a little bit.
But I don't ever like just put out what I'm actually really.
Yeah.
And I like, I don't need to.
Yeah.
I stopped talking about my weight or anything like that because I'm like,
you're inviting it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm not as self-conscious anymore.
Yeah.
Like, I think back then.
I don't know.
Like, I feel like maybe I've just grown up and I've changed.
And I have changed as well, but it doesn't hurt me anymore because I'm like, okay.
I mean, you're starting to get used to it as well, I don't know.
I'm sure you guys are used to get in those of comments all the time anyway.
I just think as well, like, what kind of person are you to say?
They must be so upset and sad with their life to almost deflect their negativity onto someone else.
Hurt people, hurt people, hurt people.
Yeah.
Happy people don't write that kind of stuff.
Absolutely.
So it's like, I'm sad for you.
Yeah.
You know, and it all, it does all stem from jealousy.
It does.
Like, every single comment that anyone puts out to a person that they choose to write on their post
is because whatever they're doing or whatever they've seen has triggered something in them that they're jealous of.
But it's not their fault.
We don't do anything to like Ruffle Fevers even.
We're well.
Not controversial at all.
Like, we would avoid it at all costs.
We're not political.
We don't comment or judge people.
Like, we genuinely, this is why it annoys me.
so it not annoys me, but baffles me.
It's like, we're just having fun.
I'm having fun more kids.
You're doing your makeup and fashion and you're parenting.
Like, yeah.
If anything, you know, when we get trolled, the only trolling that we get from this podcast is men.
Oh, is it?
Yeah, literally because what is saying is true.
And the biggest thing is using single mum as an insult.
But it makes me laugh because that would never be an insult to me.
It's crazy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And also like, it's, you, like, I can't even imagine how hard it is to be a single parent.
And I've said it before.
I honestly don't know how you do it because with him, he's at home all the time.
Like, obviously when the kids were younger, it was different.
But he's at home all the time.
And we still like struggle with the kids.
And I'm like, yeah, honestly, hats off to you.
Yeah.
What is the secret to a lasting marriage?
Happy wife, happy life, right?
Yeah.
Is that?
Do you think that's genuinely it?
Well, I do believe that you shouldn't jeopardize like your happiness as well
just to make sure that the other person.
happy but at the same like I think that's more choose picking your battles um communication
communicating is like and they're so easy things like I'm going to get hate after this as well
for men I get hate from men all the time because their partners are tagging them all the time and
like when I see like a woman tag their partner and it's like you should be like this I'm like no
why you do that to me like little like little things go such a long way like as as a woman
like I don't need the big things like a little um bunch of children.
tulips like would make my date a coffee you know like those kind of things that make you think and
like he was having a hard like day the other day where he was really stressed a lot of work and
I just think a lot of piled up onto him so once he had clocked out like I I went to Tesco while
he was just finishing something and got his favorite snacks put on like a movie ready so we didn't even
have to like you know when you sit there scrolling for ages um and got all yeah all the favorite snacks and
stuff and was like,
phones away,
sit down,
let's,
and those are the kind of things
I think are like,
just reminded people,
reminding each other
that like you're always thinking of them
no matter how big or small.
And I do think it is the little things
that go the furthest.
I'd say compromise is like so important.
Yeah.
And I agree with that.
And like we said from the get go,
like boundaries as well.
Like just not rules,
but yeah,
more boundaries.
Like if something's wrong,
just tell me like straight away
or when something is wrong
to address it straight away.
I personally think that is one of the best things to do
and a good reason why we've been so well.
Yeah, it's that open communication.
I think when you start bottling things up,
that's when it builds up, doesn't it?
And then you end up like switching at something that is so small,
but it's the buildup of everything else.
And yeah, I think that is really important and those little things.
Yeah, 100%.
I think putting yourself in their shoes helps a lot as well.
So being like less selfish in a way.
But also as well, like I think you have to find a really good balance
of like, especially if you have children, having together time.
And having alone time.
Like, I love seeing my friends.
I encourage you to see your friends.
Like, I think it's healthy to have outside time.
It's like your life as well as life together.
Shouldn't just shut off the things that you love or enjoy doing.
I've been guilty of that in past relationships.
That's something I would never ever do again.
It's so easy to do though, isn't it?
But when you're so busy and stuff, like that kind of goes to the,
but I think like,
I'm quite good at it.
You definitely could be better at it.
It's making time for my friends
and putting in things that fill my cup.
You know, where I know, like, life can be stressful.
It's busy.
Work is, like, it's amazing, but it's, like, ongoing.
People think, obviously, we don't do anything.
But...
I get it.
Fine.
Your bills are being paid for your working.
It's, like, making sure that, like,
if life does feel like it's a little bit much,
you've still, like, you're like,
you're like, oh, okay, no, it's nice.
Like, I'm going to go and have a few hours out the house,
doing something that I really, really enjoy.
I'm going to come back, I'm going to feel refreshed.
Yeah, 100%.
That's been one thing with you that people think that are,
there's always problems about them going out so much.
Like, your partner going out and stuff, but it's helped us so much, right?
Like, when you go out with your friends and you come back, it's just stress-free.
Even yesterday, you've like to recharge.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I came back.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And when I came back yesterday,
Penelope's crime wasn't annoying me and I was like...
You do need it, you really do.
And we've always been alright with that.
Yeah, yeah.
Always.
Like plans.
It used to be the other way around.
I used to be the one that goes out all the time.
And when circling back to like how Charlotte's never had a problem or being like,
where I kind of thing, I used to always be out quite late.
Remember when I used to be at Leums all the time and come home like early hours
in the morning.
This is when we first had, I think it was just Sophia.
So it'd be work, get home.
We've done the parent and then I'll have my time then.
Because I was a night owl anyway.
So I got to kind of like still get my mind.
time but that's what I hate now is that I still try to get my time in the evening and wake up like
tired of now I'm a bit different I like to get early nights no I don't actually get early nights
but it is a good idea to get early nights because I wake up like refreshed and that's why I don't
see my friends as much now because the kids get home from school and that's my time with them
until they're all in bed so then they're in bed and it's like 9pm but I have to say it's okay
to like miss an evening with them do you not want to no no that's really that's really
Not really.
Yeah, not really.
Yeah, not really.
Maybe it is a bit too much.
Is that going to be the most common question?
So where can we find a little?
Is he got a brother?
You got his friends?
No, I think maybe, I do realize, I'm aware that it is a bit much sometimes as well.
No, it's not a bad thing.
You just love being with the people and that's fine.
But I just think when I've kind of been like, oh, why don't you go and sit and you've come back,
you feel so much better.
And it's just, it can just make you kind of.
I think it also gives you a bit more of a purpose as well as, like in addition to wife and kids.
100%.
Then it's like, oh, actually, like that was quite nice.
I should try and do that a bit more often just so you've got something outside of that box for you.
You know what?
That has been a thought recently and not that I don't love everything and being about the kids,
but I do feel like I am more now like I'm like 90% Dad Connor and then just 10% Conner.
Like you lose your identity.
Yeah, I don't really go.
I don't have any hobbies and stuff that I go do.
Although I like some sports that I do love, I go to my.
watch it with my friends but that's a sport that's on like early hours in the morning again so like
fight like UFC so it's not very like social I don't get to go out and socialise that much do you
know what I mean I need a hobby yeah yeah yeah yeah friends yeah paddle yeah he's got two friends
you can be friends with my Jane's very good friends though yeah I like a small circle
he's got a very small circle like yeah it's yeah quality over the time and I'm juggling
my time already with my wife my three kids and then so I
And work as well.
Yeah, which is a lot.
So, yeah, the time that is left is for my good friends.
Instead of trying to make loads of friends.
Yeah, I agree with that.
Not wasting time, but, you know, when it's just, yeah, yeah.
Like, you don't need the surface level.
Exactly.
I've got loads of friends where they're my mates and all message and stuff,
but I don't have the time all the time to go out and do loads of bits all the time.
And I think that is, that's fair.
Like, you don't have to, you know what I mean.
Yeah.
We'll go out more. I'll get out more.
I'll get out.
No, I know, because I'm going away in September with my dad,
and that'll be my third, like, trip away.
like just without the kids.
How nice.
So last month I was like, no, Conner, you need to go somewhere.
I feel like I remember when she was away last.
I feel like your contact, you were like, so I don't know what to do today.
What do I actually do now?
The Charlotte's not here.
Oh yeah.
Oh, I'm bad when Charlotte's out of house.
Another thing, like, yeah.
It's like therapy for me today, to be fair.
There you go.
Here's your couples therapy, guys.
Yeah.
This is great.
When Charlotte's out of house, like I just, I literally just shut down.
Not over there.
I shut down straight away.
So like I could have things that need doing, not important.
I will get all the important stuff done.
And then after that, I'll just sit there for a bit.
Like, not doing anything.
It sounds like your body double off Charlotte.
Yeah.
I think it's like, it's because I think with him is,
and do you know what, I'm actually realising that Brody's exactly the same.
Yeah, yeah, he is.
Like, unless we're all together, it doesn't feel like complete.
And Brody's the same.
Like, if Connor goes out and not both of us,
are tucking him in.
He really struggles with that.
Like he used to cry, he doesn't anymore.
But he's like, oh, is daddy not tucking me in as well?
That's really sweet, though.
I feel like it's a very nice, fortunate position to be around your kids so much.
Because it doesn't, it's not that common.
Yeah.
Yeah, like, they're definitely, we're all each other's safe space.
But, yeah, when something's, the dynamics different,
especially when Conner's out, because I do go out quite a lot.
like I see my friends quite a lot obviously I've been away so I think Brody is more used to
like me being out but when Conner's out it's a bit like because I think as well you are the fun one
like the one that we're like yeah we'll go and kick a ball around or yeah like let's try out your new
which always when you want to chill it's not on purpose it's not I'll go on my own then move of it's
fine but yeah sometimes when I'm like do you want to go should we go for a walk I go in the thing
I can see your eyes and you're like, no, has it done this?
And then you feel bad, I don't know you come along.
So, yeah.
Sometimes he does.
He'll say like, oh, it's okay.
Like, you stay here.
I'll take the kids.
Like, he will recognize if I'm not.
It is a bit much, like, in the sense.
I do understand when you're like, we don't have to do something all the time.
But I just play, it gets in my, on my, what is it, play on my head.
I don't know it's, plays on my mind.
Like, I don't want them growing up thinking, oh, they were just, we're just chilled all the time.
I didn't do anything.
I want to be, I want them to go up thinking, oh, we went to the park all the time.
Fun shit.
And I think you put that, like,
I know that I sometimes put my pressure on myself,
like my boyfriend would sometimes be like,
you know that they don't have to do something every day.
Sometimes kids can actually just be at home
and like play with their toys.
And I'm like, oh, but I feel bad because like,
I know that they're going to ask what we're doing.
And if I say nothing, they'll be upset.
But I know that that's pressure that I don't need to be putting on myself
because actually I grew up probably a lot of the time at home.
I don't look back and be like,
God, my childhood was so boring.
No, that is true.
The only difference I'd say from me growing up
and the kids, and I was like, when I was bought,
I would just go out and play, whereas they're just stuck inside at the moment.
Life is very different.
Yeah, yeah.
And it's their iPads and the gaming.
Yeah, gaming as well.
That keeps you at home more.
But to be fair, though, if offered,
like they would always rather be outside playing, like,
at the park, on their scooters, like.
And that's like, we gave them a little bit of freedom
where they could just go up and down the road the other day
and they loved that.
We were at the door, like they were going on holiday.
Oh my God, it was the first time.
What, like a week ago?
They were only going to the park and round the corner,
so they were out of sight, and it was a...
At the age, though, like, all her class are walking home on their own.
She was 10, right?
Yeah.
She's quite young.
She's going to near six, yeah.
They've all got phones.
She's tried...
In fact, no, she didn't try pressure.
She has asked a good few times because all her friends have phones.
And we said there's no need to be it.
You don't need a phone.
But we don't live in the town.
It does the same thing, yeah.
Yeah, they're...
Yeah, the kids go to school in, so we have to pick them up anyways.
So when she's walking to school, we've said to her you can have a fun because you'll need it then.
And that's one more year at school.
So, yeah, they're getting old.
Yeah, it's hard.
But I said it's going to be nice though in the summer holidays.
You know, if we've got work to do and there's not, there's a day where, you know, we're going to have to be filming.
Because normally if Penelope's with the nanny, like, we'll get our stuff done in the morning.
And then she comes back and she naps and then.
we get our editing done.
So it's like our routine, yeah.
So if there is some days we need to work,
we can just say, oh, you can go on your scooters
and you can go to the park.
So I said, like, I think that's good.
It gives them a bit of freedom and independent.
You know, they come in and out, in and out.
And it just means that there's not that pressure
that they're just sitting around doing nothing.
So it's quite not.
Yeah.
Guys, thank you so much for coming on.
It's been so nice.
I'm sure a lot of you are probably now going to be messaging us
asking if Connor's got a brother, a young single dad, a friend.
We end every episode where we give like a little affirmation of the week or some sort of, you know,
positive.
Yeah, something to sort of for the audience to take away.
What would your, sorry, like putting you on the spot here?
Oh my God, yeah.
No, you go.
I don't know whether it's advice or something that you guys, maybe, you know, a motto that you live by or just something that our listeners could maybe.
take away from today. My biggest thing for us is like learning of each other like I've learned a lot
of conner. I used to be very and especially if I was on social media like years ago I would have just
been arguing with everyone because I'm very like I see things that annoy me and I'm like I wish I could
say something and I'm like so glad I didn't and like I feel like he's taught me that it's actually like
you don't need to stress about like the small stuff like if people want to be like that just let them
Like, let them.
Yeah.
Very much so.
And I have learned so much.
I feel like I have evolved so much from Connor and I feel like in ways he's probably evolved from me.
So like using each other to grow as well.
100%.
We both have our strengths, also our weaknesses.
But it's nice that I've kind of taken his on board.
It's like letting, like you said, let them, like not taking things on.
I guess you can follow on from that.
I think that like that falls into like compromise then.
Do you know what I mean?
like it hasn't, not everything's going to be perfect, including yourself.
So like admitting when you are wrong and noticing things that do need to change
and just being aware enough to change them.
Because that's what we've done with a lot of things, isn't it?
Yeah, 100%.
And like, I think as well.
But it's not always going to be sunshine and rainbows.
Like that's the other thing.
And it's not.
And I think we are quite honest about that.
Obviously we don't say, oh, me and Connor have had an argument about this.
But like, we're a couple of.
everyone knows, we just make a joke about it after we've made up kind of thing.
But I think that's what's refreshing.
I think too often social media, it's this pressure of like this perfect family.
It's all got to be perfect.
And that's why I love that you are quite vulnerable.
Yeah.
Or, you know, I think becoming single parents for us, it was that pressure of like,
oh God, we don't have that perfect life that everyone else has and everyone shows, you know,
the two-parent household with the kids and loving life and the lovely holidays.
like life isn't perfect and I think that we've said it time and time again if people say that
their relationship is perfect they're not being honest I think even when life is perfect it's not
perfect yeah I would say our life is is perfect but it's not perfect you know what I mean like
perfect for you yeah like yeah for us you know we're in love like we're in love like we have a
beautiful family but that doesn't mean it doesn't come without like difficulties you know so
it's like everyone's version of perfect is different and I think as well taking social media
like with a pinch of salt as well like don't ever read into it because like people can be so different
to what they are online and you're choosing what to post yeah you choose what to post yeah yeah yeah
we are manipulating what you see yeah exactly and although that is very much us it's not us 100%
at the time. You don't see whether we're stressed because we've got deadlines or stressed because
the kids are stressing us out. Like, we don't show that.
Even because we're a peaker in and arguing, something like that, although you do speak about it,
that's not going to be all of our content, you know what I mean? So I think it is good that we do
show like the reality of things and not that everything is sunshine and rainbows. And I actually
personally just believe that disagreeing is like so healthy. I think it'd be weird if we just
agreed on everything. Like everything was at, oh, yes, yes, we agree. And I think like disagreements
are healthy for a relationship and admitting when you're wrong, like what you spoke about.
It's just these little things that aren't, they're not big at all. It's not some secret
formula. It's just loads of little things that you can like adjust.
Yeah. Just make it work. Yeah.
Just listening. This is the thing, right? A lot of my content, I get so much love from people
and I've always said it to Charlotte because it baffles me as well because I'm just, I'm just
doing normal shit. Like I'll just get your flowers and people are acting like I've just
marched 500 miles and back to make it like this amazing thing and it will be like because
just put penelope to bed and people are like oh my god and it's put and it's like this is this is
just being a dad at the end of the day like notice my tone that you know I'm due on or something he's
like okay like let's run her a bath let's get a bit of chocolate like it's a simple thing I think
that's the sad reality though is I think a lot of our listeners and probably the experiences that
we've had is those things that maybe are
actually viewed as bare minimum, unfortunately, not a lot of people get them. Yeah, exactly.
And so it is really nice to sort of highlight that's actually the norm and what you should be
doing rather than like, oh my God, like he bought you flowers, he ran you a bar, that's amazing. Oh,
when you get the, oh my God, he took all the kids out on his own, he's such a good dad. I love
a babysitting one. But, you know, if a mum did it, then it's just, you're just a mum. So it is,
I think it's nice to highlight. A hundred percent and I think as well, where I, I,
I do go out and go away and stuff.
Like, obviously, and he doesn't as much,
it's normally the other way around, and people see that.
And I do get some comments, like, you know,
I live with all with the kids.
And I'm like, yeah, okay, fine.
But if it was the other way around, you wouldn't care.
Like, why does it matter?
Like, you know, we're happy.
The kids are happy.
It doesn't matter the dynamic.
Yeah.
But I don't know, like, obviously maybe when you get older
and mature a bit, like maybe that is.
a little bit because I don't know if you always were like as good as you were now at reading me
yeah yeah um because he'll know like if I'm coming on before I'm coming on like where I even know
you know like he'll be able to see like because he knows like my moods and stuff and like I'm not
very good at seeing that so maybe he's got the flow up no I haven't because I actually kind
of like mentally know when it's happening now because of like the dates as well and stuff but
You go, what's the day?
Oh, yeah.
That's when I am winding you up a little bit, like,
because obviously that isn't the greatest thing to say.
But there has been times even recently where, oh, man, like, it will be a bicker,
and you are being a little bit of, like, you are being a bit rude and that, aren't you,
a little bit, right?
And then I'll, I'll, like, not fight back, right, retaliate.
And immediately when I've left the house, I'm like, oh, I should have known,
like, I should have known this time.
Like, I just didn't catch it.
I was so close.
And, like, on the way here, he was like, I love this Charlotte the week after.
Oh my God.
We're on the week after right now.
And honestly, I just wish I could bottle it up that week.
Keep her forever.
Yeah, yeah.
But, you know, that's not reality.
And I think, yeah, I think a big part of it is just owning up to when you have made a mistake or kind of like just being aware of yourself.
You know what I'm.
Quite a big affirmation, but there you go.
Thank you.
No, honestly, thank you.
Thank you.
It's been so nice having you on.
If you guys don't follow them, would you actually just quickly let them know your handle so they can.
I think on TikTok I'm Charlotte Kern.
You think?
That's crazy.
Because I changed it, didn't I?
Oh, yeah, of course, yeah, yeah.
On TikTok, I'm Charlotte Kern and then on Instagram and Charlotte Kernia.
And then we're the Kern family on Facebook.
And YouTube.
And then I'm Connor C Kern on TikTok.
Yeah, love it.
Thank you so much, guys.
Thank you.
And we'll see you next week.
Bye.
