Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce - Kylie & A’ja Wilson on Jason's Bday Thirst Trap, Being The Cool Aunt & Recruiting The G.O.A.T. | Ep. 44
Episode Date: November 13, 2025Kylie’s back for another episode of Not Gonna Lie brought to you by Olipop! She kicks off the show with a quarterly reminder: she can fight. Don’t think she didn’t see some of those comments on ...the latest Jason thirst trap (1:02)! Kylie also highlights a couple Real One Comments of the Week about how hard it was for her to not swear in our Disney special (3:06) and some fantastic FAFO fan art for our studio’s Japanese Maple this holiday season (4:20). Then, in “Doomscroll of the Week,” Kylie reacts to a hilarious TikTok that demonstrates exactly what it means to be a “cool aunt” and weighs in on Uncle Trav’s “cool uncle” status (5:14). Kylie also talks about whether or not parents should regularly attend their kids’ sports practices (8:55) and then reacts to being featured in Las Culturistas’ “I Don’t Think So Honey” segment (11:35). After that, in honor of her recent hosting of a panel for Malala’s book tour in Philly, Kylie brings back “Places Kylie Has No Business Being” (14:52). She raves about the experience backstage with Malala, as well as her ultimate goal of getting her to say “Go Birds!” Kylie then welcomes one of the most accomplished NGL guests ever, the three-time champion, four-time MVP and the G.O.A.T. WNBA player: A’ja Wilson (21:25)! Kylie thanks A’ja for sending her some A’Ones and almost immediately goes into recruiting the greatest in the world to Philly’s WNBA team in 2030 (26:01). Kylie also asks A’ja about being fresh off her third championship with the Las Vegas Aces, how rowdy the parade bus was and what hilarious sh*t was going on at her championship press conference with those goggles and the tambourine (28:57). A’ja and Kylie then get into her signature shoes selling out in under five minutes and what it was like having Bam Adebayo be the first NBA player to wear them during a game (41:30). Kylie and A’ja then bond over the “safe space” that is being in a relationship with another athlete, as well as the everyday competitiveness that has forced them both to stop playing certain games with Jason and Bam, respectively (47:54). Kylie then asks A’ja about the ongoing negotiations between the WNBA and the players and what ultimately they want to get accomplished (50:51). A’ja also reveals the biggest misconception she hears surrounding this “Pay Us What You Owe Us” conversation. Make sure you tune into More Sh*t Monday on the Not Gonna Lie YouTube channel for even more exclusive clips from Kylie’s longer conversation with A’ja Wilson. . . . Not going to lie, my kid told me that Jason's boobs are big and my boobs are tall.
I don't know either. I mean, I think I know, but I'm going to pretend like I don't. Let's get this
podcast started.
Welcome back to Not Gonna Lie, a Wave Original brought to you by Ali Pop, a new kind of soda. I'm your host, Kylie Kelsey, a firm.
believer in waiting until after Thanksgiving. That's right. After. To decorate for Christmas or listen
to Christmas music. Cut that shit out. It's not time. Give Thanksgiving her moment. I now host two
different YouTube shows. What the fuck? Shout out to Fafo. What are we doing? Apparently two YouTube
shows. And consider this your quarterly reminder. I can fight. And I will if I need to. Okay. That's right.
Don't think I didn't see some of those comments on the thirst trap garage beer posted on my husband for his
birthday. Let's start here. Garage beer. We have beef. Mm-hmm. Cut that shit out. You knew what you're doing.
I respect it. I do want to shout out to the real.
ones who have clearly heard my warnings, like at Hummingbird Cake, who said, I'm going to bite my
tongue before I say something that makes Kylie come beat my ass. Way to recognize. Because you know I would.
Someone else said, happy birthday to Jason. And congratulations to Kylie. Thank you. Women supporting women.
You know we love that around here. I do just want to restate as the reminder, clear as day.
So there is no confusion. That's mine.
Yep. When you see my husband, you should hear my voice like the Finding Nemo Seagulls.
Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, okay? Don't get it twisted.
Coming up on today's episode, apparently I was the subject of an I don't think so, honey,
on the Las Culturistas podcast. And I'm absolutely honored.
I'm going to talk about that as well as what it takes to be an absolutely elite aunt or uncle in Doom Scroll the week.
I also had absolutely no business hosting a panel with Malala in Philly, but I'm so excited
they let me do it anyway. And you know, I got her to say go birds. After that, I'm going to be
joined by the three-time WMBA champion and league MVP, the greatest in the world, Asia Wilson.
I just short-circuited because of how amazing the interview was. And still, I'm crashing out about
but just another person I had. No business speaking, too. Okay. But first, let's get into
Real One comments of the week. We've got quite a few comments like this one in last week's Disney
episode, an entire podcast where Kylie didn't swear, crying, laughing face. How hard was that? Two
laughing faces. P.S. That sign off? Excellent. Well, I'm glad you guys picked up on that.
I was saying that I was going to do one episode that was swear free the entire thing
dedicated to Big Ed.
For those of you who don't know, Big Ed is my father.
He is the only person that I make a conscious effort not to say the F word in front of
well, him and other people's children.
So I did say for a long time that that was going to be my one swear free episode was going
to be a shout out to Big Ed.
So shout out to Big Ed.
didn't it? Now we're done. We did it and we can move on from not swearing because I do
understand that it is a family-friendly place and we probably shouldn't freely drop the F-bomb
there. But sometimes when you see something magical, you're just like, fuck, that was cool,
you know? Probably can't keep that in. We'll see. And our next real one comment is actually
real one artwork. Big Ed said, not my Big Ed, a different Big Ed, said, I made a fun FAAFO Christmas
ornament modeled after the love artwork in Philly. Think at NGL with Kylie will like it? Uh,
uh, easy answer here. Fuck yeah. That's a great. That's, that's, that's outstanding. That's a great
Christmas ornament. Really gets you into the holiday spirit. Okay. I need this.
for the NGL set when we start decorating our Japanese maple as a Christmas tree.
Big Ed, please make sure to check your DMs because someone is going to slide into them on my
behalf. That's it for Real One Comments of the week. Moving on, let's get right into Doomscroll the
week brought to you by Peloton. Check out the new cross-training tread plus at Onepellaton.com.
All right, first up on Doomscroll, TikToker Kay McVeigh shared this video of her son calling his aunt
about a bad grade he got in school and she had the most peak ant response ever for her nephew queen
emma the clip please it says my son calling my sister to see if she would sign a paper with a bad
grade uh really quick so i got a really bad grade on a test today and i was wondering if you could
sign my mom's signature because she doesn't like i don't want her to see it because like i'm really scared
that I'm going to get in trouble.
Yep.
All right.
So can I like ride my bike over?
Yep.
I'm so happy.
All right, thank you.
You're welcome.
I'm in a way.
All right.
Yeah.
Or as she said, yep.
That outstanding.
First of all, the prompt response.
Yep.
Yep.
Absolutely.
I love this.
so much. Your aunts and uncles are supposed to be safe space. They're supposed to be the family
that's just removed enough that they can kind of get behind the chaos that ensues.
I love this so much. If I currently have my three nieces that I call my nieces, they're a family
friend that are close enough that I feel they are my nieces, I also have true blood-related two
niece is one nephew that I am grateful enough to have in my life. If any of them called me,
my nieces are teenagers. If any of them called me, I mean, if they called me for a ride at 1 a
am, if they called me to sign a test, if they call me for anything, I'd be like, drop a pin.
give me 10 minutes and that's 10 minutes to get to you not 10 minutes until i leave my house 10
minutes no questions asked i do believe that uh my i do believe uncle trapp would do this
i think uncle trav wouldn't think twice it would be difficult to get it to him
but by then there might be like virtual signature for these tests situations and if that is the case
uncle trav i guarantee you will sign it to send back to school i know that for a fact and i know that
because i think there's two layers to this will they sign it uh maybe three layers will they sign it
how much of a priority is it and are they going to tell the parents my answer will i sign it yes how
quickly am I going to get this done? Is it a priority? Top priority. It's going back to school with you
tomorrow. Even if you call me, 9.30 at night. Okay? Third? I'm not telling nobody. What happened? Who?
That's not my... I didn't do that. I didn't say that. I don't know what you're... I didn't even
receive a phone call. I don't know what you're talking about. Get it? So,
call Aunt Kai. She'll take care of it. My little nieces and nephews, you know who you are.
give an kai call i'll take care of it take care of it real quick yeah to be clear you're still going to
have that grade but i will sign it i'm not going to be the aunt that's like you shouldn't be giving
no you earn that grade so he's good degrees how do you think i graduated next up on doom scroll we're
talking about practice that's right world cup champion abby wambach was on the today show and shared
her thoughts on parents attending their kids sports practices queen um of the clip please
Do not go to practice.
Oh, practice.
Drop your kids off.
If they're young, walk them to the practice.
Go get in your car, sit in your car, play on your phone, do whatever you want to do.
Read a book.
Go for a walk, go to the walk.
But do not go to the practice.
This is a time for your kids to play, to not be looking over their shoulders.
Also, give parents their life back a little bit.
That's true.
Come on.
Amen.
I cannot agree with this more.
Don't go to, what are you doing?
Don't go to practice.
do not go to practice. The practice is set up to prepare them for game play. They're there to
play. They're there to sort it out. They're there to learn new skills. They're there to focus on their
teammates and the coach. I love the idea of roll up, drop your kids off, tell them to have a great
practice. If you want to stick around in the parking lot, fine. But it shouldn't be, it should be clear
to your child that you are not involved in their practice. You know what's cool? When they come
to you after practice and they get in the car and you can say, what did you work on today? What did
you learn? How did that go? What did you like the best? It's more ways to talk to your kids.
But being there, also as if you're, what are you going to do? Pop in and coach too? No, go sit in your car.
cut that out don't do that they're at practice let them go and play like abby said let them go play
that's why they're there we are not quite to an age yet where our kids are doing organized sports
without parents we currently we've started soccer when they do other practices they've done
gymnastics. During gymnastics, I have tried to sit down so that they can't see me. Why I didn't
like that? Because it was more of a, you're not going to leave me, right? We were still able to talk
about what was happening afterwards. And whenever she looked at me, I was like, stop looking at me,
focus on what you're doing. And the one time I actually told her in the car, hey, if you keep looking
over at me during practice, I will go and sit in a place where you can't see me.
because I'm not involved in your practice.
You have to focus on your coach.
And last scroll, it's been brought to my attention
that I was featured in an iconic Las Culture East
Dusts podcast segment called I don't think so, honey.
I have not seen this yet.
So you're seeing my reaction in real time.
Queen Emma, the clip, please.
I don't think so, honey.
Kylie Kelsey is his wife.
I thought she was their sister.
That's on you.
I thought Kylie Kelsey was Travis and Jason's sister.
And here's what happened.
So I was leaving a hotel.
And I walk past this girl, and I'm like, oh, my God, that's Kylie Kelsey.
She's about five, six.
And I say to Melissa, I'm like, I think that was Kylie Kelsey.
She goes, no, no, no.
She's tall.
And I go right, because that family is tall.
And I go about my life thinking that that's their sister who has a podcast.
That's so disrespectful towards another podcaster.
I don't think so, honey, me.
I need to know this.
Like pop culture is supposed to be something I know about.
And something I should know about other podcasts.
Just Kylie, I'm sorry, I disrespectful.
then please come on the pod i have so many thoughts first of all the fact that you said my name one
time humbling experience the fact that you said it multiple times is actually tripping me
out you said my name what uh okay next i do appreciate that it was not that you think that we
look like siblings. I don't think that that point was made anywhere in your minute of your
segment, which I can appreciate, because that would have freaked me out. I would have fit that.
I love his desire to not disrespect to fellow podcaster if we're calling me that. I know that,
to be clear, I know I have a podcast. I would not describe myself as a podcaster because I think
that's insulting to other podcasters. I would love to go on Las Coltristas. Maybe we can have
Bowen and Matt on NGL sometime. Maybe you guys want to come over here and chit-chat. I will say,
I think if since Jennifer Lawrence is sitting in your guest seat, first of all, dragging her into
the mess that is that segment with me involved, I'm so sorry.
sorry to her that we that I that my name or any thoughts about me wasted your time I would like
this to end in an apology for me I don't think so honey me I don't think so honey that I should
take up any space in your brain and I'm sorry that I wasted it also I would just like to
point out that I to be fair say this all the time Kylie Kelsey
not a great name. It's not a great name. So I do, I would just like to point out that you thought
that I was given that name from birth, Kylie Kelsey. No. No. I'm a McDavit that fell face first
into the Kelsey last name. So I swiped my way into that one. Oh God, that's bad. All right,
that does it for Doom Scroll of the Week. Brought to you by Peloton. Moving on a brand new edition.
of places Kylie has no business being recently. I had the pleasure of having absolutely no
business hosting a panel for Malala on her Finding My Way book tour stop in Philly. And it was
tremendous. It was incredible. My initial reaction to hearing that Malala wanted me to moderate
was disbelief. That's the easiest way to say it. I had some words about it.
that, I mean, full disclosure, I said, are you fucking kidding me? You're kidding. You're
joking. That's a joke. You're kidding me. I read Malala's first book. I am Malala when I was
in college. Our school had a very deeply rooted emphasis on what they called engagement for the
common good. And there was a lot of looking at international affairs and what was happening across
the globe and different social justice issues so that we could find a deeper understanding
for them. And Malala was part of those conversations because of her emphasis on women in Arab countries
seeking their education. And because of that, when I got the email asking if I would be
interested, I could not compute that. So I said yes and then proceeded to get very, very nervous
about making sure that I was going to live up to an expectation that I think comes along with.
Malala's professionalism, her intelligence, her wit, all of it. And she was incredible.
I'm so grateful to Malala. It was so amazing to meet her and her husband and her entire team.
I'm so grateful that they thought that I was qualified to do this. It was incredible. And
at the end of the day, we got her to say, go birds.
have an answer you could say.
We got a chance to chat before we went out onto stage.
And I did compliment her on her usage of green attire and then proceeded to tell her that
if there was ever a lull or a question that was a little too open-ended, feel free to hit
them with a go-birds.
And you'll have them right back on your side.
she didn't even need it obviously because every time someone asked a question she was right on
it gave an outstanding response and we also closed out the show and the only way philly knows how
that's right bringing the people together it's beautiful what talk about unity you know
bringing the people together and all of this uh like i said we got to spend time beforehand uh backstage um
i did spend some of that time convincing her to come to an eagles game so now that she's said go
birds and practiced an eagles chant i feel like she's a show in to be cheering on the birds with us
and i love that uh thank you to malala and her team it was
a truly memorable experience that I feel like I had no business participating in,
but I am so incredibly grateful that I had that opportunity.
So thank you, thank you, thank you.
Please check out Malala's new book, Finding My Way.
It is definitely something you will not be able to put down.
That's it for places Kylie has no business being.
Coming up, Asia Wilson is joining me.
But first, a couple messages from me about my favorite things, starting with Allie Pop.
A lot of people ask me how I'm able to do this podcast. My new series, FAAFO, be a mom to four kids,
a wife, a coach, an occasional panel moderator, EAF event organizer. And the answer is,
guys, I don't know either. I genuinely have no idea what I'm doing. But what I do know is I cherish
the few moments I do have to myself each day. And sometimes I even fill them with an ice cold
delicious olipop. Are you kidding? My go-to flavor is rupeer. It's delicious. Sometimes I even say
it's ollipop o'clock. Yeah, I'm not the only one that says that.
Ollipop is a pause in a can. It gives a moment in my day that feels good,
taste good, and does good all at once. It supports your gut with six to nine grams of fiber.
With less than five grams of sugar, it's something you can grab without thinking twice.
And Olipop's got a great deal here for the real ones. Buy any two cans of Olipop in store,
and they'll pay you back for one. Shop at Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, and thousands of other
retailers near you. Sign up at Drinkolipop.com.

the most impressive list of accolades I've ever read out loud in my life. It is just unreal. Okay, so here
we go. She's the four-time WMBA League MVP, three-time champion, two-time finals MVP, seven-time
All-Star, two-time gold medalist, and former WNBA rookie of the year.
Her record-breaking signature shoe sold out in under five minutes.
She's a cover star for Times 2025 Women of the Year, the Las Vegas Aces, all-time
scoring leader, and now she's officially not going to lie.
Asia Wilson, welcome to the show.
Oh, my gosh.
I am in the presence of greatness to a degree that I cannot explain.
this is incredible
first of all
thank you so much
speaking of your sneakers
these are stunning
thank you
yeah I do
I am going to show the shoot
because I I'm very excited
like are you kidding me
are you kidding
look at that
oh yeah the candy corn
thank you so much
for sending me some
I will now make it my mission
to, I don't know, ball at all.
Come on. You got it.
I am, my dad tried really hard. He cemented the hoop in the backyard and everything.
Oh, yeah. And I went the wrong direction. I went down instead of up.
To be fair, I don't know that I'm cool enough to play basketball.
Well, you have A1s now, so you are definitely cool enough.
Now I'm going to try. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Now I can ball.
Yeah, for sure. I'm reading for you.
I might need you to offer some tips.
it's okay because because as many times as my dad told me to get my hands up I shot from my chest
every time so there's that we can work on that we're good we can work that's that's an easy fix
honestly done that's easy I do think I might be decent at defense okay that's what wins games
and I love defense because that was my position in hockey field hockey I was I was deep day
So defense, I have deep roots in.
I think I could just get my hands up.
That's it.
And stick with them.
Oh, yeah, we're good.
We're in there.
That's perfect.
Like, you had me scared for a moment.
You're good.
No, I'm in.
I'm five, I'm almost six feet tall.
I'm 511.
Okay, you're checking out the boxes for me.
I'm sold.
All you need it was shoes and you got them, so we're good.
Thank you.
Now, Dawn Staley, your former coach in South Carolina,
came on this show a couple months ago and said that you were
and I quote, the best player in the world.
And I've been so excited to talk to you about that.
How do you react when you see quotes like that from Dawn?
I mean, from her, it's like an eye-opener because Coach Daly really picks and choose when she wants to give compliments.
So I have to really like take them with As I Gran of Salt because they don't really come often a lot.
She's normally just giving me the criticism that I need to fuel me.
But that just means a lot, honestly.
Like Coach Daly believed in me when no one else did, when I didn't.
She sat in gyms and just watched a little girl that didn't know how to play basketball, just love the sport and love being around her teammates.
So it's pretty cool to just like have her say those things because she literally helped mold me into the best player ever in the world.
And so it's pretty a big moment for us to share.
I think she doesn't understand how much she has been a vital piece into how I am and who I am as a player.
So I'm grateful to just hear her say those things because I know I got on her nerves a lot.
for four years.
So it's pretty cool.
I talked to her about doing TikToks
with her players now.
Does that surprise you?
Yes, because she's, no, she's gotten soft.
It's ridiculous how soft she's gotten
because, one, when we were in school,
we couldn't have phones on game days.
We couldn't, like, we had to literally spend
a whole day without our phone, like, go to classes,
like live a normal life without a phone.
Like, excuse me?
We couldn't have social media.
Did I remember her calling me Charmin?
because she was like, oh, you're just soft.
Like, SEC needs to rough you up.
And I'm like, now you're Charmin.
These kids got you doing TikToks.
You're dancing.
She's wiggling those knees of hers.
Like, I'm just like, who are you?
Like, who is this lady?
So, yeah, she's gotten a little soft around the edges.
And she always like, oh, I'm from North Philly.
Like, I don't cry.
I don't do any of this.
And then I look on my phone and I'm like, look at her crying on national television.
Hmm.
So, yeah, she's Charming now.
She's the new Sherman.
Now, as a lifelong Philadelphia
resident. I did also talk to Dawn about the WMBA team in Philly, which we are, of course, getting
2030. So I have five years to do this, but I'm going to start right now. How can I recruit you to
Philadelphia? Okay. Yeah. Going to have to plug my agent here. Sure, perfect. You just
give me some time. I mean, the city is beautiful. Yeah, we have so much time. That's always a plus. But,
Yeah, let me get the wheels turn in a little bit.
Perfect.
And we can maybe reconsider some things.
It's a fight with Vegas, though.
You're, that's good luck with that.
That's a fight I actually don't want to get into.
Yeah, that's a scary fight right there.
I don't know.
It does worry me a little bit.
But I will tell you just so that I can set the scene for you, our food scene, outstanding.
Okay.
Am I coming in?
I will tell you, the passion from fans in Philadelphia is unmatched.
Yeah, I've seen.
And that's, it's different.
It's very different.
It's, I will say, on the receiving end from visiting teams, negative feedback.
From people who have joined us.
10 out of 10.
Big fans.
They're big fans of our fans.
Okay.
Yeah.
We pour it all into it.
We really, we love, love people who ride for us.
Yes.
Well, I love that part of the W team that's coming here.
Yeah.
No, we will be so in.
And I'm going to play the long game here.
to get the best in the world to Philadelphia.
So I will revisit this topic.
I'm going to see if I can't connect with Dawn on this.
We could get you in an Eagles jersey.
I'm just saying.
Okay, yeah.
And if I don't, at least I'm going there to play.
So I'll at least be there once or twice a year.
Yeah.
I don't know if they're like me, but it's okay.
No, no, I'm sorry.
Let me get ahead of that right now because it's not good.
It's actually very bad.
Oh, okay.
Yep.
We can work through it.
And I say that.
that being one of them.
Well, for now, you're in Vegas with the Aces.
Yes.
So I will respect that.
And I saw you recently celebrated the championship win.
Yes.
I tagged along to an Eagle Super Bowl parade.
So I've seen some of this stuff up close.
How rowdy did it get on that bus?
Ooh.
Okay.
Yeah.
It got really rowdy only because our bus driver was like going 70 miles per hour.
Oh.
Unless I was up there dreaming.
but we were zooming through that parade, like zooming.
And so we were really like, try to turn up, but also scared for our lives.
Because, like, I'm having the trophy in my hand.
I got my Thanos glove.
Like, we're trying to look good.
Like, you know, we turn it up.
All of a sudden, it's like, zoom, like, weird, worn it downtown.
Like, our bus driver was like, ooh, I love the Aces.
Zoom.
I was like, whoa, we want to still be the Aces, honey, when we get off.
I would like to
just reference
an outstanding super cut of you
at your championship press conference.
Should we roll the clip,
Queen Emma?
This really didn't now, guys.
Right here.
Let's reel it in.
23, go on the run,
go back to back.
Nancy Arbor, USA Today, sports.
This is for Becky and for Chelsea.
These are the ones that stuck.
So,
oh, that burp.
Hi, this question is for Chelsea.
You get one off
The parade is October 17th Friday
Looking forward to it
I don't know who I want to see it
I'm cool
Yeah
Beyonce would be great
Up the bottom
That's in the
Okay
I have so many questions
Me too
Do you remember
sitting at this press conference
first of all.
Yes.
Perfect.
Yes.
I do.
Okay.
Now, did I hear correctly someone at the beginning saying, let's get it together?
Yeah, me.
Yeah, that was something that I didn't do was get it together.
And it's crazy because before every championship parade, I mean, press conference,
Chelsea will pull me aside and be like, Aisha, let's lock in.
And I'm like, I got you.
Like, bro, I got you.
professionalism at his finest right here because like I've learned I've learned from the other press
conference first press conference cut me some slap never been there before I was lit yeah second back
to back never did it before give me some slack this one I said all right let me tighten up
but my eyes were not saying that so Chelsea was like put your goggles on when no one's talking to you
and I said you're right so in my mind I was like yeah I'm like when I put these goggles on they do not
see me like the camera was supposed to pan like to someone else but it didn't it stayed on me and
I'm like that's not what I asked for do you think it had anything to do with the tambourine
the tambourine was just it did the speaking it was supposed to speak for me
once again I was not I was off the work at this the only thing that would have made that
better if you started checking behind yourself to be like what are you guys looking at
What is it?
Who's back there?
I'm not here.
I am invisible.
It was outstanding.
You did amazing.
Thank you.
I'm glad I got it together.
The only thing that'll make it better is when you go for four and somehow top yourself.
Somehow, it never failed.
If you could please, I'm just going to float this one out there, I'm going to knock on wood because I'm a very superstitious person.
I don't want to jinx you.
going on your mission.
Thank you.
We'll leave it that broad.
I think the tambourine is the perfect segue to a full drum set.
I'm just going to throw it out there.
I think if someone wheels you in a drum set, that that would be outstanding.
Yeah, I like that.
I like, I actually like it.
Consider it.
A new instrument every time.
We can manifest it.
I just think you need to go bigger, bigger.
I think the tambourine did enough.
No, I think it did.
No, no, no, no. I think it was perfect. But if you guys go for four and you do it, I just think it was the perfect lean into a drum set. A full drum set.
I like that idea. Just consider it. Just consider it. Yeah.
If anyone needs help getting that taken care of, I will volunteer. Yes. Perfect. We know where to got. We got to. We're here.
I just can't wait for someone to be like, who is that woman wheeling in a drum set? It's going to be me. It will be me.
I'll be wear your goggles no one will know you're there.
Perfect. That's the ticket.
My invisibility cloak goggles.
No one will know you brought it in.
They're like this into this.
Who's pushing these drums?
Wow, those drums are moving by themselves.
That's perfect.
I'm doing it.
Please do that.
Let's do it.
And since we're playing clips, I just saw your dance in Jennifer Hudson's Spirit Tunnel.
Oh, yeah.
South Carolina.
Come on and raise up.
Spirit tunnel.
Mm-hmm.
Because we got Asian
Wales
South Carolina
at your money
raised
Yes
You know what
Because she's the best
Over you
NBA
South Carolina
Out of money
raised
Yes
You killed that
Thank you
You really did
Thank you
That's
That's the first point
Second point
I cannot get over
How many comments
Are people
shocked about you
being tall
Yeah
I didn't get that
either
I'm like
People not understand, one, what I do for a living.
Guys, do you not understand basketball?
Hmm.
Do you, are people often surprised at how tall you are?
Yes, I actually get that, like, a lot.
Like, when I take pictures of people, they're like, whoa, you're tall.
And I'm like, did you think I was going to be your height?
Like, did you think I was going to be, especially like, men.
Did you think I was going to be this good?
Yeah, and they're like, whoa, you are tall.
And it's like...
Yeah.
Like, it's very much...
House of weather down there.
Like, yeah, what did you think?
So, yeah, I'm always very shocked at how people are shocked that I'm tall.
And I'm just like, do I not give tall?
Because I feel like I give tall.
Like, when you see me play, I don't.
It's not small.
For sure.
So I'm kind of like, what did you guys think I was five, six?
I will say, I am frequently...
I am within that interaction of I step to someone, like next to someone, and they do the same.
You're taller than I thought.
Yeah.
And I'm like, I actually talk about being tall all the time.
Right.
Literally all the time.
I can't tell you how many times I've talked about that whenever I put on a pair of pants, it looks like a flood's coming.
Hello.
I yell it from the rooftops.
Yeah.
And still, people are like, wow.
Right.
Huh.
It's so weird.
I'm like, you can literally Google my height and it's going to tell you.
It's not going to lie.
Now, I'd love to talk to you more about your legendary career.
You just won defensive player the year.
Yes, yes.
So I think it's safe to say you can probably defend anyone,
but who would you say is the toughest player to go up against?
Ooh, toughest player to go up against?
I'm going to always say Brianna Stewart.
I'm always say Stewie, only because.
stooie's just she's a three-level score and the way that she plays the game is so tough to
to read because she's that skillful and so sometimes when I'm thinking about just how to guard her how
to make it hard for her because some players you're like okay force it to their bad hand you can live
with it but stewie is completely different like you really have to be able to know how and when
she's going to score the basketball and that's super super tough but I love it I really love
compete against Stew because every time we play against each other, it is like Blopbuster.
They're like some elite basketball that you're watching. And she makes me think every
possession. And I love that because sometimes I get bored midgame just because of just the person
that I am. I just get bored easily. But sometimes when you're guarding Stewie, you have to keep
your head on the swivel because she's very guardlock. Yeah. Yeah. She's very guardlike.
But then also she's tall. So yeah, it's a, you get the best of both worlds. Okay. We'll add her to the
list of recruiting.
Wouldn't that be fun if you guys
could play together
and you don't have to go up against her?
I'm just going to throw that one out there again.
Just circling back a little.
Yep.
Is there a team or player
besides Stewie that you feel
you personally have done the most game planning
for?
I'm trying to think of all the teams.
I would say we always do a lot of game planning
for the Seattle Storm.
That's a team that we're always
pretty even with.
Like we're always going to see them in playoffs, like no matter what.
I feel like we run into them every single year.
And then throughout the regular season, it's never really a butt cut an ass whipping.
They probably whipped our ass.
I know they whipped our ass once.
But it's always like just constant, just budding of the heads every single year.
It doesn't matter what roster that is there.
It's always something.
So I think we have to prep extra hard for them.
And I think they're also a team that really has like three guards.
in two posts like they really play the or like the structure the the basketball structure like
always the same way and they're really good and they have bets at each position so i would say
prepping for them is always like very tough well real ones somehow it's already mid-november
and even though i don't start decorating for the holidays until after thanksgiving i do sometimes
start shopping for the girls earlier and this year i've got a secret weapon for hiding their presence
the trunk of my Toyota Sienna.
I'm telling you, this thing goes on forever.
And the best part is, is that it's deep,
which means you can hide the stuff in the bottom.
Pop a coat over it or a blanket.
They're never going to know.
You don't even have to cover it.
I'm pretty sure that if I open the trunk,
our kids still wouldn't be able to see it
as long as it's at the bottom of the trunk.
That's how deep the trunk is.
Do you know how much stuff you can fit in there?
Presents for four kids.
That's what you can fit in there.
And it's not just the Toyota Sienna's trunk
that's going to come in clutch this holiday season.
I'm always doing a lot more driving around this time of year,
and that 36 miles per gallon means I won't constantly have to stop for gas,
which is a problem when kids are in the car,
because I'm telling you right now,
the minute you put the car in park,
everybody wants to get out.
And when you don't, oh my gosh, run.
If you're looking into the minivan life this holiday season,
I highly recommend a nice Sienna test drive
at your local Toyota dealership today.
You can also learn more about the Toyota Sienna
by visiting Toyota.com backslash Sienna.

There's always a point every fall when cozy starts taking over everyone's life in the best way.
Real ones, you know what I mean.
Suddenly, it's soup season.
I love homemade chicken noodle.
I'm not eating it out of a can.
And if I am eating soup out of a can, it's tomato and rice every time.
Don't ask me any questions.
That's silly.
Don't do that. If you haven't tried it, do. And if you have tried it, you get it.
You're wrapped up and throw blankets on the couch watching your favorite shows. And the only
clothes you want to wear are soft and warm. That's where Macy's comes in. They've got all the pieces
that make cozy feel elevated, like cashmere sweaters that are so soft you'll swear you're still
in pajamas, even when you're headed out for dinner. And when it comes to home, the cozy doesn't
stop at the closet. Macy's has luxe bedding that makes you look forward to climbing into bed at 9 p.m. on a
Friday. Think flannel duvets, knit blankets, and plush throws like the ugg fluff throw for
2499. So whether you're staying in or stepping out, Macy's has everything you need to make this season
soft, warm, and wonderfully cozy. Now, women's basketball has, of course, grown exponentially. And
like I mentioned in your intro, you're personally popular to the point your signature Nike shoes,
the A1s, sold out in under five minutes.
see it. Five minutes. What was your initial reaction to hearing that? It's crazy because I
tried to sleep through, like, I wanted to sleep through the alarm. Like, I didn't set an alarm that day.
I was like, I don't want to wake up when the shoe drops. I don't want to see anything about it.
And so I purposely, like, just slept. I just was like, I'm sleeping. I'm sleeping. And then finally
I, like, woke up and it was sold out. Of course, I woke up like four minutes after the shoe drop,
just because I couldn't stand to sleep in. And when I saw it, I,
I literally just started crying only because I couldn't believe it.
Like, this was something I could honestly say the A1 was one of the most anticipating shoes that we've seen in a long, long time.
And we had pop-ups like all over the country and like people were camping out and waking up early, early, like just to get in line.
So he gave you the old school like, I need to get this shoe type of feel.
But when it got online for everyone to really buy, I was so nervous.
And so when it sold out, I was just, like, bawling, crying because I could not believe that, like, finally this shoe is sure with the world.
Like, finally, everyone can see why it took so long and why we had to work so hard and kept it so close-knit.
But, yeah, I was in tears because I just could not believe that people wanted the A-1, which is crazy.
But, like, it's just that feel that you get.
It's so funny because it's not even that people wanted it.
It's that people were so excited to get it.
that they did exactly what you're saying, the old school shoe drop.
Like, I need to be there, like, lying around the block situation.
Yes, yes.
That's five minutes is, like, that's insane.
Like, I literally, like, I really was just like, there's no way.
Like, there's just no way.
And then also for me, because pink is my favorite color.
Obviously, that's why the first shoe is pink.
But I was very worried about, like, is the consumer going to like pink?
Are they going to buy pink?
Is it just going to be women?
Like, are they going to know that this is a shoe for everybody?
So there were like a bunch of things going off in my mind to where like my parents had to say, Asia, just please calm down.
Like no one's thinking about what you're thinking right now.
Like they're just, they're going to want to buy the shoe because they want to buy the shoe, point blank.
Yes.
And like, I had to realize that.
And then once I got over that, I was like, oh, they do want a pink shoe.
I was like, yes, we painted the town pink.
Now, speaking of the pink shoe, one of the, uh, one of the, uh,
amazing images that I saw of other players wearing the A-1s was BAM.
Yeah.
He wore them in a game back in February before the A-1's official release.
What did it feel like to be able to see not only your shoe?
Yeah.
Yeah.
But also having the support of someone like that, what did that feel like?
It was amazing.
Like it was a feeling that it didn't really hit me.
until I went to the game
and I saw him in them
because I gave him the shoe
a couple of days before
and I don't ever pressure BAMT
I'm not like
wear these on this day
and rock them
like I never do that
I'm like do your own thing
like thank you for even having them
obviously but just do your thing
so I didn't know he was going to wear him that game
so when I got to the arena
and see him warm up I was just like
oh my God like it just
it kind of shook my heart a little bit
because I'm just like dang
these shoes aren't even out
and the first person to wear them is my boyfriend,
like the first person that has really, like, playing in them
and, like, on the NBA platform, like, this is huge.
And, I mean, he's sat in on meetings.
He's been with me every step of the way.
So he's a piece of the journey as well.
So for him to kind of get a chance to wear it and rock it,
obviously it made my heart so happy.
Like, his support is unwavering.
Like, it's incredible the way that he can constantly show up for me
in the midst of everything that he has going on.
So it was super cool.
I was like, dang, like, my shoes on an NBA court.
Like, he got to wear it before me.
That was when I was a little salty, but I was like, hey, if anyone, if anyone, it can be.
If anyone gets a free pass here, that's fine, you can have it.
It'll be.
Because I was like, you're wearing them before me.
Like, I don't know how I feel about that.
And he was like, oh, you know, sorry.
Like, no, but he was trying to play it off knowing, probably knowing he was like, I'm wearing these tomorrow.
So, yeah, it was pretty cool.
That's incredible.
Now, I talked about this recently, but I think relationships between athletes feel like safe space.
And I will say this as in like me calling myself an athlete to you is a very generous take.
So just let's throw that one out there.
But I being with my husband and enjoying like athletics together, enjoying athletic separately, understanding like being coachable and working with a team and all the things that go into like team sport and being.
being an athlete. Do you find that in your own relationship? Yes, absolutely. I think it just,
it's so, like, rewarding that after a game or just when you're going through like slumps in
your season that you know that your partner fully understands it, like 100%. There's times
where after a game, I just sit in the car and Bam's just like, I know. And it's like just
sometimes, like, just to hear that, you're like, oh my God, thank you. Like, I don't have to
explain myself or I don't have to show up and just be your girlfriend right here on the spot.
Like you understand that it's tough right now. It's hard right now. And I may not, I may can't put
into words, but you know exactly what I mean. And I think that is the beautiful thing with our
relationship is just like, they're just the, I know. Like I get you. I've been in these moments
on my own platform, but now like for you, I definitely know the feeling. And it doesn't get like
talked about enough, obviously, because we don't really share that out loud. But like those moments
just athlete the athlete versus just, and it can be boyfriend, girlfriend, but athlete the athlete is
kind of like you're sitting in your own personal locker room and you can just constantly just
bounce stuff off. And then would be the first person to say, girl, you tripping. Like you,
you're tripping. That ain't got nothing to do with what you're talking about. Like that's on you.
And sometimes I need to hear that. A lot of times I need to hear that. So it's pretty cool to have
that relationship.
Now, the other thing, the other side of being with an athlete is the competitive nature.
Do you guys find that you compete?
Every day, all day.
Like, it is sickening.
It's more fun that way.
It is.
I'm like, dude, I'm just trying to go to this.
I'm just trying to go to the refrigerator.
And so, yeah, it is very competitive.
It is actually scary how competitive it is because we do escape rooms and are like off
just because we just like to keep the wheels going.
And sometimes I'm like, hey, bam, we're on the same team.
So, like, I get that you found that hit first, but we're on the same team, dude.
Like, it's okay.
We're both trying to get out of here.
So, and then here I go, I'm like, all right, but he found that clue.
Let me go find one before him.
And I'm like, oh, my God, I'm doing it, Asia.
I'm like, real it.
Come on.
So, yeah, it's very competitive.
Very competitive.
Is there something in particular that you guys are, like,
regularly competitive about
I'll have to say we have our
Nintendo switches that we play pretty often
and we play the Mario Kart
racing game
and when I tell you
that dictates what type of day we're having
it dictates today
like I know sometimes BAM's like let her win
because I'm just trying to get through today
like I'm just trying to get through that
trying to have an easy one today
let her have it and I think that's what we kind of do
on a normal basis, it's just little games just like that
that I'm like, yeah, this is...
My husband and I, I don't know if you've ever played
Settlers of Catan.
Oh, no, it sounds good.
It's a board game.
It's...
And there's a...
You can play a version on your phone.
We're not allowed to play that anymore.
Yeah, yeah, I get it.
I get it. I get it.
We're not allowed.
I get it.
I get it.
I mean, I used to play dominoes on our phone.
And it's like, I had to just delete it.
I'm like, let's just give it up.
Yeah, there's a robber in the game that you can, like, put on someone's space so that they no longer get to, like, get points, we'll say, or, like, resources.
That shit would piss me off.
Like, it was like, he would hand the phone back and he wouldn't look at me.
And I'd be like, you motherfuck.
You already know what happened.
You're like, ooh.
Uh-huh.
He wouldn't look at me.
He would just go like this and pass it sideways.
And I'd be like, did you?
Yeah.
Oh, we're not allowed to.
We're legitimately not allowed to play anymore.
I get it.
I get it.
It's bad.
Yeah.
It's not good.
But it's okay.
It's what makes the relationship great.
I mean, I feel like the competitiveness is like what thrives the most in our relationship.
It keeps us on our toes.
Because I'm like, I'm not going down without a fight.
You didn't lose.
We're just going to play those game.
No, it's, it adds a little spark.
It does.
Very quickly.
Circling back to the W because the league.
is growing so much. It's also bringing a lot more revenue. Oh, yeah. And something I did cover on the show
previously was you and all the WMBA All-Stars making a statement with the pay us what you owe us
T-Shed. Yes. Yes, yes, yes. I did mention when we talked about this on the show, big F-A-F-O energy.
And if you don't know what that is, is fuck around and find out. It's fuck around and find out energy.
I like it. That's allowing people who have fucked around. Yeah.
indeed find out. We love that for them. We love that. Absolutely. You've said it before the players
are standing on business, which I also love. For anyone who isn't up to speed, can you explain in
basic terms what the players want to see accomplished? Yeah, I think the biggest thing that we're
trying to see accomplishes, like you said, this has been a big year for us, a big last couple
years for the W. And I think when you looking at social or anything, it's just like, okay,
the value is going up. Everything's going up. I mean, we get these TV deals.
And so when you're thinking about that, you're like, okay, let's talk revenue share. Let's talk about that and how we can implement into our salaries. Because when you look around and you think about businesses, the biggest thing is the revenue share. Like if this is going up, the players and the product is going up and we're showing up every single day, our wallet should be doing the same. And so when you're talking about just seeing that, I think the league is growing. And so for us, we have to sustain that by just getting equitable compensation. And I think that is so,
key. And that's what we're really just talking about is making sure that we're just united
and understanding and letting the league understand that we're not going anywhere. We've earned
everything that we have been fighting for. We are valuable. And we're going to continue to show up as
that as that. And I think that is what makes our league so powerful is that we know the power
of our voice and our platform. And we're not going to stop until we get what we deserve. But
to see it and then to hear what they're saying and it doesn't add up,
think that's what's going to continue for us to not back down because we see a lot of things
going on in the talks of our league and other leagues they're growing. And it's like, well, if they
see that we're worth the book, why can our own league see it? And so it's going to take time,
as we know, and it is taking time right now. But we're going to continue to stand on business
for what we believe in and what we deserve. Now, what's the biggest misconception you often
hear about this whole conversation? Oh, that we just want to get paid like the guys. I hate
when people say that. And granted, I'm not a numbers girl. I'm not at all. I'm far from that.
But I think the biggest thing is just meeting the fair agreement of what we are discussing.
It's never what the MBA is doing. It's never, oh, we want to pay them what they got.
No, we understand that that's not how the business works. But we also understand that we're
missing within our own business. The revenue share is missing in our own business and in our own
checks. So I think people need to stop thinking about that way.
And just think more so of like, okay, yes, they are saying pay them what they deserve and what you owe.
I think it's so important to not only stand up for this change for you guys, but also it's showing young women that as a unit of the women representing the W that you guys are able to say, no, we're, we're,
we're not going to accept less. I think it's crazy that the reports are coming out to show,
like you said, the TV deals and the different things that are coming in at a significantly
higher level, exponentially higher level than they have been in the past with the previous deal.
And so to see that they're not willing to increase those percentages for you guys is absolutely insane.
Yeah. And it is. And I think also people don't understand it's like we're working to get a
CPA that's not just necessarily for the ones that are planning in now. We're talking about the ones
that are coming after us, like making sure that they have, they don't have to go through what we're
going through. And I think people don't understand that. And yes, we talk about salary, but at the same
time, just having a good workspace to play in. Like, a lot of teams don't even have practice
facilities. And it's just like, I'm blessed enough. Oh, my goodness. I know I'm blessed enough
to have an owner and a franchise that are really player forward. They're like, what do they need? And
We were the first, yeah, I think we were one of the first WMBA teams to have a practice facility.
And people wonder, oh, well, what makes the ACEs great?
And why are they so great?
And why are they constantly in the conversations?
Because we have exactly what we need.
And we don't have to come into work thinking and wondering, oh, is this going to work?
Or what, now I have to drive and share this court with people.
Like, no, like we don't have that problem.
And so now it's kind of like making others owners or anyone else, like put your money where your mouth is
and give us what we need.
Not, yes, what we deserve, but what we need.
And so, yeah, we, there's a lot of work that needs to be done.
But, yeah, I think that's what people really also don't understand is, like, yes, we're fighting
now, but it's not just fighting for us.
And I'm my check.
I'm fighting for the young athletes that's coming up behind me.
I also think that's so important to acknowledge the fact that the leadership that have the
ability to maybe make sure that there is a.
specific practice facility or to make sure that the players have everything that they need
that they have bought into the W in a way that they have put a level of importance, right,
on this league and the women in it.
And so it is exactly what you're saying.
Put the money where your mouth is.
Support these athletes the way that you as ownership or as leadership in this league
should be prioritizing the athletes absolutely 100% agree i cannot thank you enough for coming on
it has been an absolute pleasure to get to talk to you and i always like to say this to women
who are paving the way i with someone as someone who has four daughters in their house i am so
grateful that they have someone like you to look up to and to see how hard you are working your
drive your dedication to your sport, the way that you sort of present yourself, even when it's
having fun in a press conference. I love that those are the examples that my girls have out in the
world. So I really appreciate you and everything that you're doing. Thank you so much. You're amazing
too. Like you are unapologetically you and we need a lot more women like that in this world to not be
afraid to be that way. And honestly, every video I see of you, I'm like, that's right. Like I can't
help myself. I'm like, that's right. Like, stand on it. So I'm a huge fan and I can't thank you
enough for just being you. Like, I love that. Like, you are truly you and we don't see a lot of
people being that in these faces. So thank you so much. No, thank you. And I can't wait to see you in
