This is Amanda. Happy Tuesday to everyone if you're listening on Tuesday. I have to tell you guys about last night. I went to this event. and is everyone experiencing this or is it just in like my world of influencer culture or people that are like on TV or on the internet because the whole table was talking about what GLP1 they were on and I had major FOMO and also major like no one's telling me you don't need it. So are you calling me fat? It was literally like, I'd be like, oh my God, stop, oh, wow, like, should I? And they weren't saying no.

Like, they were basically injecting themselves in me at the table. And I feel like it's like all I can think about ever since. And it just shows you like how peer pressure is so real because it literally is influencing me. I'm like, well, that person's on it. That person's on it. Like, why am I the only human not on it? And everyone's apparently saying how great it is. And I do have those stubborn 10, 15.

pounds that I am fucking fighting. If I say fucking fighting with my teeth, you know what I did when I got home? After the entire night being about GLP ones, like everyone talking about their GLP1, I snacked to the fucking max. Maybe it was emotional eating. Maybe it was like, I'm fighting the system. Like, you want me to fucking inject? I'm going to eat.

I'm going to do the opposite. I'm going to do the opposite of inject myself. So I ate. I snacked. But I kind of needed to because those two glasses of champagne really got me. I was drunk. I was like, you know, when you excuse it, I was like, I need to eat for the alcohol to soak it up. But I woke up feeling great.

And I guarantee you if I didn't snack, I wouldn't have woken up feeling great. But anyway, yeah, it's real. I wonder if you guys are feeling if it's like every mom at your kid's school is on it or is it just in the rooms that I am in. And now the thing is we're equating it with like health. I feel like. Like, it's like, oh, you're on your NADs, your GHKs and your GLP. It kind of gets mixed in like the health. Peptides, that's the word.

The word of the fucking year is peptides and ferretin. I'm just kidding. I have an obsession with ferretin because it's just one of those things that I feel like now your doctor is checking on every blood tests you get. But 10 years ago, were we talking about ferretin? No, we were talking about iron and now ferretin. I just think that there is. things than nobody talks about.

And then one day everybody talks about those things. And then they become just part of culture. Forever. Anyway, so I came into my interview today and I'm like, will the guest want to talk about how everyone's on GLP ones or will she want to talk about her new movie? Because I'm on, I'm on a one track mind. I'm on a one track mind here because of last night. You guys, it was literally like, what are you with Zepaummanjaro?

Fucking fuck, fuck. Fuck. And you know, maybe the reason I am talking about it so much is because I do have an internal struggle of what am I trying to prove? Am I trying to have an unmedicated birth? Is that what I'm doing? That's what it feels like these days. Trying to lose weight on your own these days feels like you're trying to prove something and give birth in a tub. You know what I mean? Anyway, what else is no. You guys, it looks like Taylor Swift getting married at MSG was not a prank. It was not April fools, even though it's not April. All the signs are pointing to that

being real, which like jokes on us and jokes on her because getting married at MSG is insane. Like you tour all the time. You're always in stadiums, arenas, places like this, this is where you want to get married? Or is she throwing some event there? So she throws, oh my God, all the frenzy there. And then she's in Rhode Island at her house. But it's happening, you guys. It's happening sooner rather than later the weekend of July 4th. Allegedly it's happening. But who will Taylor's bridesmaids be?

Will it be Abigail and Anderson? Or Selena Gomez on Polly Market, Abigail and Anderson has 86% chance and Selena Gomez, 78%. What about the Heim sisters? What about Cara Delavine? She has so many friends. Lena Dunham. I mean, Taylor was a bride in Lena Dunham's wedding. Will she not pay her the favor back? Will she have an entire bridal shower? I wonder. Now to today's guest, I'm super excited because I went to see Supergirl. I went. I took Noah, my little Nepo. baby to a screener for Supergirl. It is PG-13, but listen, he's seen Deadpool, which is rated R.

So I was like, you guys were good. WB, we are good. DC Universe, let him in. Anyway, so we went by ourselves and we went to see the screener for Supergirl. And I loved it so much. First of all, it was such a special time. Noah's almost six and, like, just getting to do things with him. You know, we like took an Uber, like, ate SNAP.

Chilled at the movie theater. It's just, like, so fun to have that one-on-one time. And he's so into superheroes. And I was just like, you're seeing a new superhero movie before anybody else sees it. Do you know how cool you are? And he doesn't. I mean, the Nepos, they never really appreciate what they get. But we had so much fun in the movie, and it was so fun to see him actually get it.

I'd be like, like, I actually didn't. I was asking him questions. Like, why did this happen? He was like, she's too close to the yellow sun. I was like, he's so close to the yellow son. Anyway, it was super fun. I love the movie. The whole movie I go to him,

Supergirl is so cool. She's so cool. She's so badass. Then I had to explain what badass men, but she is so cool. So is the actress who plays her, Millie Alcock. I've seen her in Sirens.

You've seen her in House of the Dragon. She is brilliant at what she does. So since there's a cock in your last name, did you ever get made fun of? Oh my God, yeah. Oh, yeah? Yeah, still to this day. Really? Yeah. Well, it's because my name is Alcock, but it's A.L. So people say Alcock.

Gotcha. Which is really fucking annoying because I'm like, you wouldn't be like alcohol. You know what I'm saying? But I get it because that's your comeback. That's like, you wouldn't say alcohol. But it's because you would say it like always also. Right. In any other context.

That's like my only kind of touchstone word. You're going like, you wouldn't say, you wouldn't say alcohol. But so when I was. thinking about that because of my end of a 12 year old, I was like, maybe they didn't because if you're like Wilcock are people doing that? I actually have a very funny story talking about cocks. I was on my like set visit for House of the Dragon. I'm like, you know, 21. I haven't started shooting yet. And I'm like, you know, doing a set visit and everyone's like, this is Billy all cock. And I'm like, sorry, it's, it's Alcock. And I went, you know, well, Lisa's not Hancock.

And one of the producers looks at me, and he's like, he looks at his chair and he points in his last name. He was like Peter Hancock. His name was Hancock. Did you have like a? I was mortified. I was like I'm minified right now. Like a foot in your mouth situation. I do have, yeah, I just don't think before I speak at all.

How is that in Hollywood to deal with? I mean. Did you get better at it? I'm getting better at it. But whenever I think before I speak, I'd sound. weird. You're like, that's less fun. That's less fun.

Yeah. It's going to buy me in the butt, but for now, I don't know. I know. I'm just a girl. I'm not trying to be perfect, you know? Yeah, I think it's like. If you set the precedent, then you'll fine. I feel like if you rebrand, that's when people get a bit.

Yeah. Confused. Yeah. I feel like I've seen TikToks of you on the red carpet that are just so funny. Like, which, like, reporters sometimes do ask like, Okay, I feel bad for celebrities and actors promoting movies to have to do not podcasts because they're the best, but a lot of red carpet interviews when you get asked these like really specific questions. Like when they're like, what song would you want, you know, playing during the scene? And you're like, ah!

Yeah, you're so put on the spot. And do you black out and forget every song that ever existed? Ever existed that's ever played. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Another thing that my 12-year-old brain is that you were born in the year 2000. So I thought you could always know how old you are really quickly. It's like the best year to be born, you know?

It's like, it's so easy. It's like how old it's like the year. The year. The year. I am the year. If it's post May, May is the month after April. It's the year. Because I'm born in April.

Right. You know. So if it's after May, then it's the year. But if it's before, it's the year before. See, now I'm confused. If it's May. If it's May. Wait, my birthday's in April.

No, okay. So let's say the year's 2027. Yeah. If it's May, 2027, I'm 27. If it's March, 2027, I'm 26. Right. We're right. Right.

Okay. Now I'm tracking. You got it. I totally got it. Cool. So now you're 26 or 27? I'm 26. So it's such a baby.

I know. So young. I know. So young. I feel young and old at once. And you have two younger brothers. Uh-huh. What's that like?

It's great. Yeah, I was the eldest of two younger brothers. We were all very different. We all do very different things. And it's like four years apart between the three of us. Like four, like each. No, no, no. Like my, like, between all three of us, my youngest brother is four years younger,

three and a half years younger than me. Oh, wow. She just like, my mom just like churned us. She turned you out. Yeah. Well, eldest daughter is fun because you kind of set the tone. No, for your mom. Yes.

I feel like. Because I've noticed that oldest, you kind of set the tone of like, this isn't a crazy house. You're like the co-parent. Right. Very quickly. Yeah. So you did that. You were like the helper.

Yeah. Oh, really? Yeah. And are they like wild boys with a ball? Well, my brother is a professional rugby player. I'm a youngest brother. Oh, wow. Yeah.

So they have a ball. So they have a ball. Yeah. He's a, yeah, he plays to the Western Force. And then my other brother works in. agriculture works. I don't know. He's got one of those real jobs. And this is the way I describe it. He basically works with bodies of parliament and indigenous bodies to help promote sustainable farming and like give back land. Like he's doing like really, really good stuff for the environment.

Wow. We are doing really different things? Yeah. So are both of them in Australia? Yeah, my whole family's in Oz. I'm the only one. Yeah. In Oz. That's the shortcut. It's, it's always shortened. Everything is always shouldn't. In Australia, right? Yeah, I don't know why. You guys love nicknames too. Yeah. What's yours?

Millie. Right, because you were Amelia. Yeah, Amelia May. I love that name. No, it's so, I should have gone with that name. You might have. I feel like an idiot, but. Like, it's very stuck, but it might be even too, you know what I mean?

It's too like. It's like, like, Maryland Monroe and Amelia May. I'm not graceful enough to be Amelia May just yet. Yeah, but like the play on that. The play on that will be fun. Yeah. Maybe I'll have another future endeavor. Down the line.

I think so. Your new skin care is Amelia May. Your new skincare brand. Yeah. By the way, I love both names. Like May for a girl I also really love. Yeah. So you grew up with two younger brothers.

How stoked are they that you're doing like a DC comic superhero movie? Yeah. I mean, they're excited. Yeah. But I'm just still Millie, you know. If anything, Australians really like. to bring you back down to Earth. We have like tall poppy syndrome.

Yeah, I was told about this. Yeah, it's not actually, for those who don't know, it's not actually like a syndrome. It's more like a cultural kind of thing. It's very the opposite of like America's kind of cultural. hype you up. Hipe you up and it's called tall poppy syndrome

and it's when the poppies grow too tall. You have to cut them back down to size. So it's very playful, but it is just like making sure that like no one is too big for their boots. Like if you do really well, it's kind of like, what? It's like calm down.

You're still the same bitch. Yeah, yeah. So that's how they are with you. Yeah. They're like, you might be running all over the world, like being a movie star. Yeah.

But you're still. Yeah. Which I think is really good for you. It is. Yeah. Maybe that's why you Australians are like making it so big in Hollywood. Maybe. Because you have this like cool yet humble,

but like work hard. When did you? did you always know you wanted to do acting? Yeah, it was kind of my only skill as a child. I was really bad at school. I was held back in year two, and then I eventually dropped out of high school. Wait, year or two of?

It's like grade two. Oh, grade two, yeah, yeah. But you just say year for some reason. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it was like the only thing that I was really good at. I remember doing Little Red Rocking Hood. Is that not, is that Red Robin Hood, but in Australia.

Well, it's like, I don't know. It's like red rioting hood, but I think it's like a nativity play version where like, you know, in like a nativity play where they like add all these other characters so that everybody can have a part like there's a tree,

you know, all of this shit. So what were you? I was little red rock and hood. Okay. I was the girl. You were the girl. And I remember like dancing on that little stage

and being like, I want to feel this adrenaline for the rest of my life. Wow. Yeah. So you did a play like for fun and then found like, no, but I love this.

Yeah. And then when, So you dropped out when you got your first gig? I mean, kind of. I did this TV show in Australia called Upright with Tim Minchin. And I was in my final year of school. I was doing my HSC. And it was like, okay, I have to go and sit on my final exams

while shooting this show across rural schools in Australia. Or I just drop out and I dropped out. How did your, like, mom? She was like, do it. Yeah. He was a high school dropout. Yeah. Yeah.

That's sick to have that kind of support. Yeah. Wow. So she was like, go follow your dream. Yeah. She was like, what do you? Yeah, why not? So how do you go about that in our street?

Like get the agent, get the, get all the stuff in place? Well, I went to a performance out to high school. Oh, okay. And all my friends had agents and they were all very musically talented. They all did like chitty, shitty, shing bang and like Annie and like, you know, all those like musical theater type shit. Yeah. That's not my bag. But.

But as I was going to say, you don't seem like a musical theater. I'm not a musical theater. And they all had agents. And I was like, what is an agent at like the ripe old age of 13? And I just started like cold calling agents. And I was like, hi, can I join your agency? And they were like, yeah, just do an audition at this time. And I was like, Mom, we're going to go.

And I've got an audition. I'm going to do it. Yeah. And then they signed me. So what was the, was House of the Dragon your first American role in America? No, it was in the UK. Oh, in the UK, right? Yeah, it was my first, like, international kind of thing.

International. And did you move to London after that? Yeah. Tell me about getting that role, which was huge. Yeah. Right? Yeah. It was crazy.

So I was, like, it was like 20, 19. And I used to throw, I had like an art collective with my friends in Marigville in Sydney, Australia. earlier and we would throw warehouse parties in these different warehouses that my boyfriend at the time was living in and then at another warehouse. They were like live music events. We would curate the gallery space with like friends who are visual artists and then like do all the visuals and stuff for the live bands that were playing. And then we would shoot their music videos and like make short films.

It was like a very like fun, creative. Wow. Time. Yeah. We were like so broke. But it was. And so cool. It was so much fun.

So I was doing that. And then I got, yeah, just an email saying like untitled HBO TV show. Can you put down a tape? And I think it was YR, which now I know is, was like the character name, which now I know is like Young Grenierre. Yeah. And I remember going to my friend's house, who's also an actor Will McDonald's house, shooting his self-tape. And he was like, this is a scene for Game of Thrones. So you auditioning for Game of Thrones?

And I was like, what is Game of Thrones? And it turns out it was. And then they asked for another self-tape like a couple weeks later. Did you go back and watch Game of Thrones? I didn't until I booked the part because I don't like to... Like jinx it? It's not even that. It's like you just kind of have to really be who you are

and approach it from your own unique, special, independent angle. As soon as you try and mimic something, it gets very muddied. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like you could be influenced and you don't want to be. that. Yeah, you want someone to really see you and the choices that you actively are making. Yeah, and then like... Well, I read that the, the showrunner said he knew it was you from the first meeting. Yeah, it's crazy. And the fandom got obsessed. Yeah. Which is always a great thing to have a toxic fandom, you know, like to have those, like, rider dies that will like... You want them on your side.

Like, they were really upset when you, when you, when you, when, you... And they didn't need her to be young anymore. Yeah. Right? When they had to flash forward 10 years. Yeah. How did you, I mean, you knew going into it that it was only five episodes. Yeah.

I did. And you made such an impact on five episodes. I know. It's crazy. But apparently there's like a theory for stuff like that. I think it's like it's kind of like when you watch a rom-com and the first person that you see the romantic interest interact with subconsciously your brain wants them to be together. To end up together.

So I think that the audience had a similar feel. towards me and Emily, me and the other younger characters. But I think Emma has done such a phenomenal job. You were protective when people were upset about the change. I mean, I was just really protective of them because there's this young actor really putting themselves out there and has done such an incredible piece of work. And for that to be diminished just over something as kind of,

I don't know, it's like it's not their fault that that was the choice that was made in the way that they were writing the show. But, yeah, Emma's the coolest. Super cool. Are you friends? With them? No, but I think when I think all of us live in a very similar area. Oh, yeah?

I saw, yeah, live Cook. We're all like in a certain part of London. Oh, so how did your move to London happen? Did it happen after the show? Yeah, I just kind of stayed. Do you love it? I do. I love London.

Is L.A. calling your name at all? No. No. Do you don't like it over there? No, no, I can't drive. And also like the green card situation. So because I'm a. I could get a visa really easily in the UK because we're a part of the Commonwealth and I'm on a different visa.

But if I wanted to live in America, I would have to forfeit that visa and then I would have to spend at least six months a year in the US. And because of my job, I don't know if it's going to film here. Yeah, if things are going to happen or if that's going to fall into place. It's a very long process to get a visa. It's a very expensive process to get a visa. And I don't think I want to fork out another like 15K to. to relocate. I'm feeling, I feel like we don't consider that with actors that are not from here,

that you, like, have to be legal. The bureaucratic world of, like, figuring out visas is so frustrating. It's hard. I don't understand how anybody, I'm very fortunate that I can afford to have access to, like, immigration lawyers and stuff like that. But I cannot fathom how difficult and confusing, and they purposely make it confusing so that certain people just kind of give up trying to end to the country.

Yeah. Yeah. But we got London. Got London. And you would have to give that up if you wanted to do America. Yeah, yeah. Damn.

Yeah. It's all very complicated. I also saw that you were telling a story about having to have an acting coach when you got House of the Dragon when they told you. Even though having the knowledge now that they fell in love with you right in the room

and knew they wanted you, at the time you said you said you felt like it was like kind of like a gap-hunt. Yeah, it was like my second day on set. You know, I was 21. I felt so out of my depth. And I think at the time being that age, it just really bruised my ego. It really reinforced beliefs that I didn't deserve to be there. I wasn't talented enough that they would recast me. But upon reflection, you know, being a bit older and a bit more mature, it's all to benefit the work. It's all to benefit the body of the show that we are creating. No one is kind of trying to make me feel bad. Yeah. So it was a really great learning

experience. And now I work with an acting coach. So I'm really grateful that that happened. You know the Sopranos? Yes. So James Gandalfini, who played Tony Soprano, his daughter, Meadow. Yeah. She was on my show and she had a similar experience. And then she was saying how James Gandalfini was like, everyone has a fucking acting coach. Like he told her, he was like, Tom Cruise has an athlete. He's going to have a PT.

Yeah. I don't know why with art that we're kind of. You get like, wait, am I not just naturally amazing? Exactly. Yeah. But yeah,

I won't forget that because he literally said like everyone you know that is doing this has this. Yeah. So you're saying when you kind of let the ego.

Yeah. Because I've done everything like by myself, you know. Yeah. Like with agents and calling and like getting myself into rooms. Yes. So it felt very much like, I didn't want to admit that I needed help.

Yeah. Yeah. I get that. Yeah. But listen, now and then you got the teams, you got the things. Like, but you know that you could do it on your own, which is so cool. Yeah. We'll be right back after the break.

that has like... A fandom. Yeah, that has a fandom because in this weird way that doesn't normally happen for other parts, they kind of, the character belongs to them

in this really bizarre way. So you're kind of trying to get there acceptance for this person. So yeah, I just hope that people really resonate with her. Yeah. How was the reaction to your casting?

I don't know. Because like if you're saying, because I know this happens with books as well, because now like books get adapted into movies too. So they're like, she never. We love preexisting IP. We're right.

you're like, I'd be doing the same thing, girl. I know. It's funny how it's like relatable, even though it's not relatable, because you like arrived from Krypton something. That amount of tragedy, I think, is...

When Superman pops you out of that egg and you have your little... Mm-hmm. I was like That's kind of like That was my first day on set as well Oh really? I was with David and I was just kind of

In this little like suit And it was fucking freezing in London So I felt very Did you film an actual like a snow No no no no We filmed at this lot in Leavesdom Which is also where I shot House of the Dragon It's like the big water brothers

Place out in Wotford No it was fake snow But it felt like there was ice Like it was it was the beginning of January It was freezing No, that's so funny because in that moment where, you know, I'm looking at you in that time, in that space. The cute little like aeroscent, purple padded. Like, it looked like kind of a ski outfit.

But I was getting claustrophobic. In my, you know, my mind, I'm going, how did she like travel in that? Like, wasn't she claustrophobic? Like, this is how into the movie I got. Yeah. I was wondering if Kara, the super girl, was getting claustrophobic in the. based traveling egg. I feel like it was pretty quick.

It was like it's a quick trip. It's a quick trip. It's a quick stop. Because there's also no bathroom in there. Right. So if you girls are going to go. Right. God forbid, crypto's got to go. Right.

Crypto the dog. Crypto the dogs. Which I feel like I'm putting like a dog in a movie, there's always points to that. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like it's a move. Like, of course we want like the whole movie I'm going to my son.

Like, she's going to save the dog. Don't worry. We don't care about people just animals Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm like, don't worry. The dog is going to be okay. I know it. She's going to save the dog.

What was it working with an animal like? Well, no, don't. I mean, like, it's like, yeah, it's not a real dog. None of it? No. Stop! Did you think it was a, I'm not going to go there? Yeah, it's like, it's all, thanks to our amazing VFX department,

who are kind of like the unsung heroes of making this film. Okay. Obviously, I didn't think he was real when he was, like, levitating and, like, doing that kind of stuff. No, no, no, no, no. So it's like them. They're like, they're so incredible. Wow. VFX department.

Yeah, no, sometimes we had like an animatronic dog for the stuff in the healer's hut. And then the scene that you're talking about in the pod, I was actually holding like a Jack Russell, but that was like a reference for size. Yeah. But usually I was miming or it was kind of like a gray weighted kind of sack in the same shape. Oh my God. Yeah. Crypto.

I know. What was it like learning Kryptonian? Right. Yeah. What is it written like on your script? Well, I get sent it. It's by the same guy that does all the High Valerian. I think he's like the linguist.

Okay. For these worlds. It's like his full-time job is like creating all these fake language. It's kind of insane. Yeah. So I would get sent it like phonetically. So I would get like sent like the words kind of spaced out in the way that I would say it. And some would be uppercase if the inflection is.

higher or lower, da-da-da, and then you get sent it kind of all together, and then you get sent the English version of it. But the guy would, like, change the grammar. Okay. Which would always kind of like, the attention to details, incredible, but would always really baffer me because I'd be like, but the audience is going to read the subtitles in English without the grammatical, kind of like switching of words, which was just a nice little flare and nice touch. Do you remember any of the? I don't. I really. Because you like, I can memorize it. I don't remember, like, where I am right now. So, yeah.

But you kind of just learn it, like, learning a song in another language, like, rhythmically. Yeah. And then you just have to know it really front to back fundamentally in English to, like, know what you're saying, like, getting across what you're saying. Right. Because you need to know, like, the context of what you're saying. Right. No, that was crazy. But I loved how she also had, like, a weird relationship with the suit, right?

Yeah. She didn't want to put on the suit. Yeah, I loved that. I thought it was just so. Refreshing. And another refreshing thing is like, no one really was like Supergirl. Like, no one really said Supergirl.

No. In the whole movie. No. Maybe I don't even know if by the end. I don't know. She's like, I wasn't there. I wasn't there. I'm not even here.

Yeah. But I, and I, and the other thing that I think, if you ask me what the point of the movie is, is the, you know, how your mother, where your mother told you what Kara's mother told her.

Yeah. How to be good. Yeah. Yeah. But I liked how she said you don't have... Yeah. Or was that Ruthie said it to you? You don't have to be... Ruthie kind of says it back to me, but I don't think she realizes

what my mother has said, yeah. It's like, you don't have to be... Kind. Kind. Or like... Nice? Yeah, you don't have to be nice, but you have to be kind. You don't have to be strong,

but you have to be tough. It was like something like that, which I think is so beautiful. And good was the essence. Yeah. Be good. Yeah, because, you know, Superman has a different definition of what it means to be good.

And I think Cara's definition of what it means to be good is different. And I really like it. I really adore it. And it like suits who you are. Yeah, it's kind of, I always feel like with comic book films, oftentimes the audience is told who they should be. but this film was a really beautiful reflection of showing the audience who they are.

And yeah, I think it's just really refreshing. It is because, you know, I feel like I could think of myself and say, like, I know I'm a good person. Like, can I be a bitch? Or can I be not the nicest that day? Yeah. So I feel like it really met me. I was like, you know what?

The most important thing is that you're good. Yeah. Like, so what if you're in a, bad mood one day and you're not the nicest or whatever. Yeah. And I felt like that was the vibe of Supergirl. Yeah. What was it like doing those fight scenes?

It's actually really fun. Yeah? Yeah. Your adrenaline goes like, boink. Like, it just goes like to the roof because there's like, you know, six foot four men in these like armored suits running at you on a wire. So you've got like hit them at the right points. The wire goes off the right time.

Yeah. There's like explosions going on. It's really fun. It is really fun. And like you know that like you're going to, you can take them. Yeah. Yeah. You know that you win, which is even better.

Yeah. Yeah. It is so cool how she just like walks around her trench coat. Yeah. What was the outfit? Was it, did you, how did you get to that outfit that she's in the whole time? I think Craig kind of, that was like the only version of the outfit. She's not someone who like kind of wants to be seen.

like wants to be perceived. And I think the trench was also so important getting the right cut of the trench and everything and the right weight of the fabric so that when she's flying with the trench coat, it still looks really beautiful. Like we still kind of have that dimension as if it were a cape.

And the boots, apparently Craig's wife, Chris, walked past Miumium was like those boots. Like she wanted those boots. Look at you in Miu Miu. They're Mewo. They are so... Are you a brand ambassador yet? I'm not a baron ambassador of anything. going to be.

I hope so. Yeah. When you were doing this in the air, yeah. Did you, what did it feel? Did it feel silly? It feels silly. It feels silly.

It feels silly. It feels silly. But you're kind of just like dangling in the air. And you can't get your arm like too high up because the costume is so tight. And you're in a harness. So like you really got to stretch. What about the costume? Did that go through iterations?

Like the actual supergirl? The suit? Yeah, yeah, the suit. Yeah. because I wore the suit in Superman and that was the same body, like the same top. Yeah. That's a body suit. And the skirt and boots were different and the cape was also different.

And then Anna, our costume designer, who had a fucking 80th birthday on this job. 80th? 80th birthday. She's a queen. She's an icon. She's adorable. I'm obsessed with her. She redid the suit.

And I remember she really advocated it. She like her and James kind of like, you know, and she really advocated. catered for this version of the suit, which is very true to the comic book that it's based off. So we have the over-the-kneed boots. There's three different zips in the boot. There's like a sock lining for support because they're healed for like fight scenes and everything. The skirt is flowier. The belt is different.

And then the cape was material that she had sourced from a previous iteration of Superman. I think it might be Matt Reeves. I don't quote me on it. People already have. But it's like a very, they have like 16 meters of this. this material. She was trying to find one that kind of matches it.

Wait, when you were in Superman 2025, you already knew you were a supergirl. Yeah. Okay. I like pop in a super girl. Right, you pop in.

So that was already like, that was like pretty quickly after I'd been cast. Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah. How was that being in that little cameo? Did it give you like

the itch and excited to do your own thing? Yeah, it was really exciting. We were in the Fortress of Solitude, which also as a set is so amazing. Yeah, there's like fake ice, like icicle walls and crystals and then like the robots were all there, which are actually people. And Alan, who plays Gary the robot is like just so funny. Yeah. And I was kind of like, okay, wow, this is this is what I'm, what I'm getting myself into. What about like stunt doubles or did you do most, you had one? Yeah. Yeah. Mickey.

Mickey is a real super girl. She's phenomenal. She's like everybody's stunt double. really. She is amazing. Nobody can move like her. Did you, were you ever like, but I want to try to do that? Yeah, but then sometimes you can do it. They will push you, but they'll also protect you. Like, they'll be like, you've done too many takes in a row. You need to stop because you're going to burn out. We need you tomorrow. So it's also just being aware like, okay, what's going to get this done in the most

economical way? Yeah. Not only for the cast and the crew, but for the stunt department because there's so many moving parts and trying to sell a stunt instead of me just being like, I want to do the stunt. It's like we're wasted a day and a half. Like, you're not going to, it's not like safe. If you do it, it's quicker if we just kind of do it really efficiently. A professional.

Yeah. Does it. Yeah. Because they're also itching to get on. You know what I mean? Right. These guys, this is their life and they're so, so. And they're so good at it.

They're so good at it. Yeah. What was like the hardest thing to shoot in the movie? There was this one stunt that was really kind of. of daunting, kind of scary to do. It was with me and Eve and there was like a big hole in the ground and we had a cameraman running backwards and I was running towards them and me and Eve both had to grab it. It was a sizable hole.

Yeah. And me and Eve, we were on like the, they built a house. So it was like the bottom floor was actually a set, but it was the set for the house. And me and Eve had to run and I had to grab home. We had to like both jump over this thing. And then you're flying. And then we fly. But we would jump over it and like sometimes just miss it or like then I had to do a scene that's

just before I pop through the ceiling. And it's like this hole that's like so tight and you can't see anything. And there's all this smoke and like debris. Oh, so that's happening. That's coming up. So you have to like jump up and land and like not fall. Like anything like that was kind of scary, but it was really fun. And you were saying that you did get some bruises and bumps.

Yeah. Anything serious? No, just like a lot on like my thighs and legs and shins from like the harnesses and stuff. Oh, from like that. Yeah, because you were saying that David. I'd ask for advice, but the only thing you were told is like, you're going to get bumps and bruises. Yeah.

You're either an actor that like is obsessed with yourself and like narcissists. You're watching. It's kind of, I get what you're saying, but for me personally, I do this job to disappear and I do this job because fundamentally I find it quite difficult to be who I am. So I need to, I need to, I need to be these other people because it's easier to comprehend somebody else's life that's completely laid flat out for you with a neat bow start to finish than it is

to be a person. So being perceived is a really difficult thing because you do it to disappear, but then you're so visible. So that's my kind of take. Yeah, that's my experience towards it is like, yeah. Like if you could do what you do but not. Skin suit. That is my dream. If I could act, if I could act.

Yeah. In like a different body and then like take it off and like live my day to day life and like never do press and like never do any of that. That would be like like my dream. Like if you didn't have to like the fame that comes with it. Yeah. Really. Yeah.

So you never wanted to be famous. You wanted the job. Yeah. And now it's hand in hand. I know. I like, I've never talked so much about myself until this month and I'm so sick of myself. I could, I understand what you're saying. Yeah.

Yeah, I understand. And like, repeating probably a lot of the same things a lot of times and like stuff like that. Yeah. And the being on and the like being on. Yeah. You get tired. Yeah. Always a camera in your face.

But shooting. A film is so different. For 20 hours a day, you're good. Yeah. It's so different. It's so different. So what is the most fun part about the job for you was disappearing into the character? Yeah, it's like the doing of it.

But you try something really different. You're like, ooh. And you forget it's almost like you get really good at creating this imaginary world inside of a world. So like everybody else kind of melts away and it's just this hyperfixation of this moment that's happening in real time and you're allowed to feel everything. That's like my favorite part.

Another thing you said about the movie that I loved is that it's like not centered around a man. Yeah. And I usually love a romance. I love a romance. Like and I love like when there is some something going on where there's like relationship vibes. Yeah. But the minute you said that, I was like, wow. Like and I didn't even think of that like a love interest or having to do with a guy or a relationship.

And I was like, damn, I like that. Yeah. A lot. I do too. And it's more like kind of a friendship, even though she's, I looked up the actress who plays Ruthie. I know.

She's 14. What was it like? Were you like a big sister to her? Yeah, I felt really protective of her. Yeah. She was like 13, 12. Like she was young. She seemed so mature, though.

She is. Yeah. And her parents are just like so fucking sweet. They have done such a beautiful job at raising this incredibly grounded head on her shoulders. Young woman. Yeah. Yeah, I felt very protective of her,

especially because Eve is still. in school and, you know, kids get jealous and mean and yeah. And also, like, being in this arena at that age, I'm just, I feel very protective of her. When did you do that? Another clip that came up for me was you doing a tour of your home with your mom in Australia with that guy? That was when I auditioned for Supergirl. That was that trip when I went home.

Yeah, so I haven't been home in a few years. And he came? Caleb, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. To do this? No, he was already there. I think he had family there.

Oh. My mom is obsessed with Caleb. My mom is obsessed with homes. No. Every two week, I love her so much, but every like two weeks, my mom would rearrange my home. Like, no, sorry, rearranged my room. Yeah. As a child, which was so frustrating.

There were no posters on the wall. She had full, she has fabulous taste, as you can see by the video. Yeah. So she was like such a fan. She was freaking out. She was like, I've got to clean it. It's like, please. Her dream come true.

It was her literal dream come true. And he actually got a drink with us at the pub with my mom and my brothers and my mom's partner. It was so sweet. Wait, that result, the house looks so cool. That was the house you grew up in? Yeah. Oh, wow. Yeah.

That's like how a lot of houses are in Australia. They're like terrace houses with a backyard. Yeah. And you haven't been back since then. When was that? 24. Oh, my God. Yeah.

Because you've been busy. Yeah. Are you going to have some time off now? Hopefully. I want to go back for Christmas. I want to do like a hot Christmas back home. Oh, that's fun. Yeah.

Do you hate the flight? The flight is long, huh? It's the furthest place you could ever go. It's 24 hours on an aircraft. Now from London? How long? Basically, yeah, because you've got to like, or it's like 13 and 7 or 14 and 8 or like whatever, depending on where your layover is.

It is the longest flight. Do you not love to travel? I hate planes. Now, what do you, the turbulence are just being on it. Just all of it. I know. The lines, the customs, the this, the that. I love a train.

Don't trust a viral restaurant. I know. It ruins the like the integrity of the customers that were there before or it promotes businesses to just become gimmick oriented. Yeah. You know what I mean? You are too cool for school. I'm with David.

I'm with David. He's the dad. I'm the mom. You've done such drastically different roles if you could like manifest what's next. I really want to do a play. I want to do a play like a really beautiful. like kitchen sink drama like independent film yeah yeah i saw that you said one of your favorite movies is candy yes i love that movie that was shot on my street in sydney growing up so that that park is the

park that i grew up you know what i grew up at i think i watched it way too young because because like so did i think i probably watched it when it came out and it's one of those movies that i've watched over and over by the way if you haven't seen candy with heathledger and abby cornish and abby cornish So beautiful. But it did. The fact that I like was probably 12 being like, I'm a drug out. I'm a drug. Yeah.

So my area was kind of a bit, as we like to say in Australia, how you're going? Which just means a bit like off. A bit. How you going? It was like it was like pre-genrification. We were like the first wave of like young families that like kind of gentrified the area. Yeah. But it was all there was like, you know, a methadone clinic.

Oh really? Up the street. Yeah. Because it was all shot there and based around like red. fun, which is all in the inner west of Sydney. What a beautiful movie. So heartbreaking. Have you seen two hands?

No. Is it good? It's so good. It's a young Rose Byrne. Yeah, Heath Ledger and a young Roseburn. He's like a bouncer in the Kings Cross. Oh, yeah. No, I saw.

So you had the best time with that. I had the best time on that job, yeah. That was in New York. It was such a creepy. I know. It was crazy. It was kind of fab. Where is it on?

If you guys haven't seen Sirens, just check it out. It's on Netflix. And you played a completely different, like, super yippy, yuppie. Yeah, super like straight edge. Yeah. Girls, like, very, like, feminine. Like, you could do that. It was a different accent, right?

It was kind of more of like a... Yeah, I pitched her higher because she's also masking her pass when you watch the show. You'll understand. So she's trying to pretend to be someone else in that sense. So I wanted her voice to almost change a little bit when she spoke to Megan and when she spoke to everybody else. Yeah, it's like. when we used to call our friends on the phone and the parent would pick up.

And you'd be like, hi, can I speak to it? And then your friend would be like, hey, what's all? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We do it naturally. Yeah, we elevate our voice. Well, thank you for coming. Thank you. Go celebrate your last press thing and then get the burger.
