Live from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi Singh.
The mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Fry, is blasting federal immigration action in his city.
To ICE, get a fuck out of Minneapolis.
We do not want you here.
Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety and you are doing exactly the opposite.
Fry, a Democrat speaking out a short time ago on news of an immigration and customs enforcement
agent's lethal encounter with an anti-crackdown protester, authorities confirmed a woman was
fatally shot. NPR's Jimenez-Bustia reports there are differing accounts of what led to the
confrontation. The woman was in a car apparently attempting to block the road. Ice officials say
she drove at them, prompting one officer to shoot. Homeland Security Secretary Kristian
accused a woman of, quote, an act of domestic terrorism. This goes to show the assaults that
our ICE officers and our law enforcement are under every single day.
Minneapolis, Mayor Jacob Frye is denouncing the sweeping ice operation in his city.
What they are doing is not to provide safety in America.
What they are doing is causing chaos and distrust.
Minneapolis police have turned over the scene to the FBI and state authorities to investigate.

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has announced new dietary guidelines for Americans focused on promoting
whole foods, healthy proteins, and fats. NPR's Allison Aubrey reports the administration has unveiled
a new food pyramid with red meat, vegetables, and fruits pictured at the top.
Secretary Kennedy described the new guidelines as the most significant reset on nutrition
policy in history, calling for an end to policies that promote highly refined foods that are
harmful to health. The guidelines will set limits on added sugars and encourage diets that
include meat and dairy. Protein and healthy fats are essential.
and were wrongly discouraged in prior dietary guidelines.
We are ending the war on saturated fats.
The guidelines are highly influential, determining what's served in school meals and on military bases,
as well as what's included in federal food aid.

Japan's protesting an export ban imposed by China on dual-use technologies.
More from NPR's Anthony Kuhn.
Japan's foreign ministry complained to the Chinese embassy
and demanded that the export ban be withdrawn.
The ministry noted that the ban only targets Japan, it runs counter to international practice
and is unacceptable. Japan's government says it's still trying to determine whether the ban includes
rare earths, which are crucial for automakers and other industries. China's foreign ministry
spokeswoman Mao Nying argued that the ban is legitimate and protects China's security and non-proliferation
commitments. Maury stated China's demand that Prime Minister Sinai Takaichi retract her remarks
about Japan's possible military involvement in a potential conflict over Taiwan.

U.S. European Command is disclosing the seizure of a second vessel as it carries out a campaign to head off support to Venezuela.
On Exit described a pre-dawn action this morning against a sanctioned Dark Fleet motor tanker Sophia.
It says the interdicted vessel was conducting illicit activities in the Caribbean Sea.
officials also had announced they'd seized a Russian-flagged oil tanker, the Bella 1, that the Coast Guard had pursued for weeks across the Atlantic.
On Saturday, the U.S. military seized Venezuela and President Nicolas Maduro and his wife in a raid to be tried in New York for drug trafficking.
Warner Brothers' discovery has once again rejected a bid from the family of Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison to acquire the entire company.
We have the latest from NPR's David Fokinflick.
Larry Ellison is the co-founder of Oracle and one of the world's richest people.
He agreed to personally guarantee $40 billion of his offer, valued at more than $100 billion.
With his son, David Ellison now has a controlling stake in Paramount, which owns CBS and Paramount Plus streaming.
They want to combine it with Warner to take on Netflix, Amazon, Apple, and a bulked-up Disney.
Warner Brothers Discovery Chairman Sam DiPiazza told CNBC, no dice, though Netflix doesn't want its cable channels.
Ultimately, he didn't raise the price.
So in our perspective, Netflix continues to be the superior offer, a clear path to closing.
DiPiazza argues that antitrust regulators in the U.S. and abroad would be more likely to knock down a takeover by Paramount.
