It still feels a bit surreal to me that I got to spend an hour talking with filmmaker
David Lynch in the last year of his life.
Life is such a gift and can be enjoyed and it's all okay.
Nothing to worry about, really.
I'm Rachel Martin.
My conversation with the legendary filmmaker David Lynch is on the Wild Card Podcast, the
show where cards control the conversation.
Live from NPR News, I'm Giles Snyder.
Celebrations in the Gaza Strip today is a long-awaited ceasefire after 15 months of
war between Israel and Hamas took effect.
The ceasefire went into effect after a nearly three-hour delay.
Aid trucks have begun arriving at the Karim Shalom border crossing,
but UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said aid distribution still faces many obstacles.
The agreement is clear. There won't be any impediments by Israel for humanitarian aid to enter in Gaza. That doesn't mean that it is easy, the
distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza. We have gangs looting systematically.
The convoys negotiations to get to this point went on for months in Piers Greg.
Myree explains why it took so long. I'd point to three reasons. One, critics of Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu said he'd been stalling,
partly because it was a US election year. He wanted to keep his options open
until he saw who the next president would be. We should note the ceasefire
agreement looks almost identical to proposals President Biden made last May,
so the actual proposal hasn't really changed, but from Netanyahu's
perspective, the circumstances are now much more favorable in his view.
TikTok is no longer available in the U.S. A popular video sharing app went dark hours before
the law requiring its Chinese owner sell or face a ban took effect today. TikTok CEO is looking
for Donald Trump to give the app a reprieve,
a notice millions of American TikTok users see when they open the app, says Trump has indicated
that he will work with the company to find a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office.
The president-elect will hold a rally tonight in Washington D.C. on the eve of his inauguration.
Trump arrived on Saturday to attend a series of events before the swearing-in ceremony tomorrow.
Here's MPRS Franco Ordonez.
President-elect Trump was at his golf club in Sterling, Virginia for a reception with
supporters followed by a 15-minute fireworks display.
Today, Trump will visit Arlington National Cemetery for a wreath-laying ceremony at the
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
He'll later hold a rally at Capital One Arena in downtown Washington.
But the cold weather forecast has scrambled Monday's plans.
Instead of holding his inauguration outside in front of the U.S. Capitol, Trump decided
to move the event indoors to the Capitol Rotunda.
The scheduled parade down Pennsylvania Avenue is also moving inside to the Capitol Rotunda. The scheduled parade down Pennsylvania Avenue is
also moving inside to the Capitol One Arena. It'll be the first time the inauguration is
being moved indoors since Ronald Reagan's second inauguration in 1985. Franco Ordonez, NPR News,

Firefighters are reporting progress on the Palisades fire in Los Angeles.
Officials now say crews have reached 49% containment thanks to low clouds and favorable humidity levels.
But the National Weather Service says critical fire weather will return tomorrow because of another Santa Ana wind event.
Pets from shelters in areas of Los Angeles County hit by those wildfires will be getting
a second chance in North Texas.
Priscilla Rice, member station KERA, has more.
The nonprofit Wings of Rescue and the Humane Society of North Texas are transporting 150
pets to Fort Worth this weekend.
Senior Director of Social Awareness for Wings of Rescue
Cassie Davidson says clearing out space at shelters in LA
will allow wildfire evacuees and their pets to be reunited.
And so to alleviate that, to ensure that no animals are
euthanized to create kennel space, we are flying out as
many pets as we can as quickly as we can.
All of the pets arriving in North Texas will immediately go into foster homes. I'm Priscilla Rice in Dallas. To South Korea
now where hundreds of supporters of impeached President Yoon Sung Yeol
stormed the court building after Yoon's detention was extended. Dozens of people
were arrested after windows were smashed and police were overwhelmed. Yoon was
arrested last week over his failed attempt
to declare martial law.
On the way to the NFL Super Bowl,
the conference championships are taking shape.
Two more games are on tap today
after the Kansas City Chiefs
and the Washington Commanders advance this weekend.
Later today, Los Angeles Rams play the Philadelphia Eagles,
the Buffalo Bills will play the Baltimore Ravens.
