Technologist Paul Garcia is using AI to create photos of people's most precious memories.
How her mother was dressed, the haircut that she remembered.
We generated tens of images and then she saw two images that was like, that was it.
Ideas about the future of memory. That's on the TED Radio Hour podcast from NPR.

Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Willman. Israel has begun to allow Palestinians to return to the heavily destroyed northern Gaza. It's the first time since the early days of the 15-month war
that people have been allowed to return there. Lebanon's prime minister, meanwhile, says a cease
fire with Israel has been extended to February 18th. That news came after Israeli forces fired on civilians and Lebanese army soldiers killing 22 people
and injuring 124 others on the day it was supposed to withdraw entirely from
Lebanon. NPR's Emily Fang reports. The White House also says in a statement that
it supports the extension of more than three weeks. The 60-day ceasefire
agreement was brokered last November between Israel and Lebanon-based
militant group Hezbollah.
It was supposed to see Israel pull out entirely from border villages in Lebanon.
But this week, Israel said Hezbollah had not pulled its fighters out completely, so it
was staying put.
And Israel fired on Lebanese citizens who said they were trying to return to their homes.
Israel's military said it fired warning shots and also detained people who it said posed a, quote,
imminent threat.
The Lebanese army accused Israel
of violating Lebanese sovereignty
and called on its citizens to exercise self-restraint.

Florida's legislature meets today in a special session
called by Governor Ron DeSantis to take up measures
aimed at curbing illegal immigration,
and PR's Greg Allen reports. President Trump has expressed support
for Florida's special session on a series of enforcement measures including
one that would require local officials to help carry out deportations or face
suspension. Governor DeSantis wants to make it a state crime to enter the US
illegally and to require people to show proof of immigration status before
sending money abroad. Republican leaders in Florida's legislature have indicated
they may take no action this week but DeSantis says he'll keep the pressure on.
You can view me as like a dog that's got you on the ankle on
immigration. I am not just gonna let go. Lawmakers say they will deal with
immigration and other issues in their regular session in March. Greg Allen, NPR News, Miami.
The fire ravaged Altadena, California area, still recovering from the deadly Eton fire,
and the concern today is not fire but rain and possible mudslide and debris flows.
The National Weather Service forecasts up to two inches of rain through Monday. Steve Futterman has more.
It's not going to be a massive amount of rain, but with the charred mountains now without
any vegetation, there are worries.
In Alta Dena, which is located just below the San Gabriel Mountains, there's a heightened
concern.
People who live in vulnerable areas are placing sandbags in front of their homes.
I want to make sure that we don't have any overflow on our curb into our property.
A few weeks ago Dave Pierce would have welcomed rain, not so right now.
Hopefully it'll be a nice slow easy rain.
A flash flood warning is in effect through Monday.
For NPR News, I'm Steve Fetterman in Los Angeles.

Rwanda-backed rebels say they've captured the largest city in eastern Congo.
The United Nations is describing the scene in the city of Goma, which holds 2 million
people, as a mass panic.
Congo's government, meanwhile, says the rebel advance is a declaration of war, and they're
asking for the protection of civilians in the city.
The Kansas City Chiefs have positioned themselves
to potentially win a Super Bowl
for an unprecedented third straight year.
They advanced to the big game by beating the Buffalo Bills
32 to 29 in the AFC Championship Game.
Greg Eklund has more from Kansas City.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen
is known for his passing and running abilities, but it was Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes who
scored two touchdowns by running the ball. Mahomes says it was a tough victory
at home. It's just so hard to get to the Super Bowl and I don't take it for
granted and to be able to do it again at Arrowhead was special. The Chiefs will
have a Super Bowl rematch from two years ago
against the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans. Earlier in the day the Eagles clinched the NFC
championship with a 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders. For NPR News, I'm Greg Eklund in Kansas City.
Yannick Sinner beat Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 on Sunday to claim a second consecutive
Australian Open Championship. The victory makes the 23-year-old from Italy the youngest man to win
the trophy two years ago in more than two years in a row in more than 20 years. Sinner has won
three of the last five major tournaments including the 2024 US Open. I'm Dale Willman, NPR News.
