Technologist Paul Garcia is using AI to create photos of people's most precious memories.
How her mother was dressed, the haircut that she remembered. We generated
tens of images and then she saw two images that was like, that was it.
Ideas about the future of memory. That's on the TED Radio Hour podcast from NPR.
of memory. That's on the TED Radio Hour podcast from NPR. Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Windsor Johnston. President Trump says the United
States will take over the Gaza Strip and redevelop the region. The president spoke alongside
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday night.
We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous, unexploded bombs and
other weapons on the site, level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings, level
it out, create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and
housing for the people of the area.
Trump said he envisions the world's people living in the Gaza Strip, including Palestinians.
At the same time, Trump also suggested that Palestinians who have been displaced by the
war should be permanently resettled outside of Gaza.
But Egypt, Jordan, and other U.S. allies in the Middle East have warned Trump that relocating
Palestinians could threaten stability in the region and risk expanding the conflict.
The Postal Service says it's suspending packages coming into the United States from China and
Hong Kong.
NPR's John Ruich reports the move comes after the Trump administration slapped tariffs on Chinese
goods and eliminated a duty exemption for small or inexpensive shipments.
The temporary package suspension started on Tuesday as President Trump's latest tariffs
on China took effect.
It's unclear how long it will last, but it appears to be an attempt to comply with the
Trump administration's order to end what's known as the de minimis rule, which exempted
low value items and small quantities of goods from being hit with duties.
There's been a surge of small packages coming into the US in recent years, in part because
e-commerce platforms and Chinese exporters have been using the de minimis rule to skirt
duties.
It's unclear how disruptive the shipment pause will be or how the surge of small packages
will be assessed for duties now that the de minimis rule has been eliminated. John Ruhich, NPR News, Beijing.
California Governor Gavin Newsom will meet with President Trump at the White
House today. Guy Maserati with member station KQED
reports Newsom is hoping to secure aid for the victims of the deadly wildfires
in Los Angeles County. Newsom's office says the governor plans to talk with Republicans in Congress before meeting
with Trump at the White House.
Last month, Newsom approved $2.5 billion in state relief for communities damaged by the
fires, which he hopes the federal government will reimburse.
Trump has previously threatened to withhold aid unless California enacts a
voter identification law and sends more water from north to south. For NPR News,

Emergency crews are still removing debris from the Potomac River in Washington, D.C.,
where a passenger jet and a military helicopter collided in midair last week.
The remains of all 67 people who died in the crash have now been recovered.
The National Transportation Safety Board says it's reviewing
new data on the crash but still needs more information from the helicopter to verify
it. The bird flu outbreak in the United States is further driving up the price of eggs. Marlin
Hyde of member station WABE reports restaurants, including the Waffle House chain, say they're
being forced
to charge customers more.
Waffle House is placing a temporary 50 cent per egg surcharge across its over 2,000 locations
in 25 states.
According to the Georgia Company, the current bird flu outbreak and egg shortage has driven
up the price of an essential ingredient for the breakfast chain.
The egg surcharge, which applies to all menus, became effective this week. According to the American Egg Board,
the country has lost nearly 50 million laying hens
in the past year due to highly pathogenic avian influenza.
Industry leaders say stabilizing the supply
will require a sustained period
without new bird flu detections on egg farms.

One of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen has died at the age of 100. Lieutenant Colonel
Harry Stewart Jr. was a combat pilot who fought in World War II. He earned the Distinguished
