Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Willman. President Trump has signed a proclamation that would change the name of the Gulf of Mexico. NPR's Franco Ordonez reports that Trump named Sunday Gulf of America Day as he flew over the body of water on his way to watch the Super Bowl in New Orleans. Doug Burgum, the Secretary of Interior who is standing beside Trump, says the proclamation makes the naming official and that the Trump team is now calling all map providers including Google Maps and Apple Maps in order to put the name change into effect. Starting point is 00:01:10 New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand are warning that President Donald Trump's plans to gut the U.S. Department of Education will hurt children and spark tax increases. Bruce Convizer has more from New York City. During a press conference in Manhattan Sunday, Hokel and Gillibrand warned that funding cuts will hurt more than 2.6 million school children across the state. Hokel said more than $3 billion in federal aid goes directly into the state budget. She warned that local taxes will rise if Washington claws back federal dollars. Randy Weingarten, the president of
Starting point is 00:01:43 the American Federation of Teachers, said nationwide 26 million children benefit from federal financing of the Title I program. It provides the reading specialists for children who are having a hard time reading. We have a reading crisis in this country. We should be giving kids, young people more support in literacy, not less. Dismantling the Department of Education would require congressional approval. For NPR News, I'm Bruce Convyser in New York. In a blowout victory, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 on Sunday, earning a win for Eagles fans and ending Kansas City's bid for three consecutive championships. For Member Station WHYY, Corey Sharber has more. Fans took to the streets in Philadelphia last night after the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40 to 22 in Super Bowl 59. The Eagles were led not only by Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts, but also Saquon Barkley, who ended up setting this season's rushing record.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Gorkham Genniden was soaking in the energy following the Eagles' championship victory. Seven years ago when we first won our trip, I was 16. My dad didn't let me come to Philly because I was too young. And now I'm so glad I get to be here for this championship. So I'm blessed.
