Imagine, if you will, a show from NPR that's not like NPR, a show that focuses not on the
important but the stupid, which features stories about people smuggling animals in their pants
and competent criminals in ridiculous science studies, and call it Wait, Wait, Don't Tell
Me because the good names were taken.
Listen to NPR's Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me.
Yes, that is what it is called wherever you get your podcastsder Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Giles
Snyder.
In Rome today, since a thousand's line, the streets to bid farewell to Pope Francis as
his casket was driven to its final resting place.
NPR's Jason DeRose was there.
Jason DeRose After the funeral at St. Peter's Square, Pope Francis' body was driven across town
over the Tiber to St. Mary Major Basilica
where he is being buried.
He was met there by a group of, in fact,
the people that he spent his time in ministry to,
the poor, refugees, transgender people,
people who are the victims of violence.
I think it was a fitting end
for his body to be seen to the grave by the people who he welcomed into communion with
the church.
The Pope's funeral in St. Peter's Square included dozens of foreign leaders, including President
Trump, who met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines.
Both men have now posted social media messages, with Zelensky saying the meeting could prove
historic if it delivers a kind of peace Ukraine is seeking.
On True Social, Trump questioned Russian leader Vladimir Putin's commitment to a peace deal,
putting sanctions on the table following Russian attacks over the past few days.
Iranian and U.S. negotiators are reported to have kicked off a third round of indirect
talks today to discuss Iran's nuclear capabilities.
Officials hoping to iron out the details of a possible deal that would also see the U.S.
lift sanctions on Iran.
In Beers, Hadil El-Shalchi reports.
The talks are being held in the Omani capital of Muscat and mediated by the Gulf country's
foreign minister.
They hope to curb Iran's nuclear program in exchange for easing U.S. sanctions that have
crushed Iran's economy.
After the second round of talks last week, Oman said that the two sides agreed to enter
a next phase aimed at reaching a deal that would also allow Iran to develop, quote, peaceful
nuclear energy only.
In an interview published in Time magazine this week, President Trump said, quote, I think we're going to make a deal with Iran, but
he hasn't ruled out military strikes if a deal isn't agreed to. During his last
term as president, Trump pulled out of an Obama-era agreement which aimed to limit
Iran's nuclear capabilities. Hadil Alshalchi, NPR News. Attorney General
Pam Bondi says the arrest of a Wisconsin judge accused of helping a
man evade federal immigration authorities sends a strong message. She put the lives of our law
enforcement officers at risk. She put the lives of citizens at risk, a street chase, which is absurd
that that had to happen. But yes, she put a lot of people at danger, in danger. Bondi spoke on Fox News after the judge in
Milwaukee was taken into custody by FBI agents yesterday. Judge Hannah Dugan was
released but is facing charges stemming from the arrest. Wisconsin's Democratic
governor is accusing the Trump administration of an attempt to
undermine the judiciary. And you're listening to NPR News.
judiciary and you're listening to NPR News. Virginia Jewfrey who accused royal prince Andrew of inappropriate behavior in the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking
scandal has taken her own life in Australia. Scott Maiman reports that her
death has come as a shock to family and friends. The 41 year old was recovering
at a remote farm property in Western Australia
after being hospitalised more than a month ago after a serious car accident. That farmhouse is
where she died. Her family has issued a statement saying she lived there for several years and it's
with broken hearts they announce her passing. She was one of the most vocal victims in a sex
scandal that began in her teens.
Other abuse survivors later credited her with giving them the courage to speak out.
Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied any involvement.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries says it is unlikely that Congress will support
any invasion of Denmark's semi-autonomous
territory of Greenland.
The relationship between our two countries is important, has been strong, and must remain
that way moving forward.
Jeffrey, speaking in Copenhagen while on a visit to Denmark with other members of Congress,
President Trump has said that he wants the U.S. to take over Greenland and has not ruled out the use
of force.
A U.S. delegation visiting Denmark included members of both parties.
Jeffrey's remarks came after a meeting with Denmark's prime minister and the country's
defense minister.
