Starting point is 00:00:00 Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Dan Roran. At least 10 people have been injured and are hospitalized after a mass shooting near Arcadia Lake, Oklahoma, Sunday night. Police say the violence erupted at a party involving a large group of people. Emily Ward is a spokesperson for the Edmont Oklahoma Police Department. She briefed reporters on what took place and what the department is doing now. So our investigators are at the scene. It's very dark right now, so obviously as the sun comes up, we'll continue to investigate. They're just right now, it's just, you know, we're taking witness statements.
Starting point is 00:00:41 We're kind of all over the metro speaking with victims and witnesses. So that's what we'll be doing in these next multiple hours. Gasoline prices around the country have reached the highest level since July of 2022. going up more than 30 cents a gallon in just the past week. NPR's Chandalee's Duster reports. AAA says the national average is around $4.44 per gallon. That's nearly a dollar and 50 cents higher than the national average before the war in Iran started. Kevin Book, co-founder of Clearview Energy Partners, told NPR that depending on how long the

When inventories are low and you can't get oil out. of the ground or out of the straight, you should expect prices to keep rising at least until demand capitulates and starts to contract. President Trump has promised that when the war in Iran ends, that gas prices will, quote, drop like a rock, that experts warned gas prices will remain elevated, even after the war ends. In Iranian proposal reportedly includes an end of the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah and Lebanon, despite a ceasefire agreement there is where the airstrikes have killed dozens of people in Lebanon in just the past two days.
Starting point is 00:02:01 Duri Bukaris is monitoring the story from Turkey. On Saturday, Israeli strikes killed at least seven people in the border village of Yaron, local officials said. The Israeli military also used bulldozers to demolish part of a Catholic convent. More than a million people have been displaced in Lebanon over the past two months, according to the UN. with the Israeli military forcing evacuations and occupying several towns in the country's south. Today, an Israeli military spokesperson issued a warning on social media to the residents of several towns, saying that, quote, anyone located near Hezbollah operatives, facilities, or weapons may be putting their life at risk. Starting point is 00:02:43 Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is hospitalized. As spokesman says the 81-year-old Giuliani isn't critical, but stable condition. It's not clear what sent Giuliani to the hospital. He was New York's mayor on September 11th. This is NPR. The federal prosecutor overseeing the case against the suspect in the shooting at the White House Correspondents Association dinner says buckshot that hit a secret service agent came from the suspect's weapon appearing on CNN. Janine Piro said the U.S. attorney he said the shot from Cole Thomas Allen's weapon hit the agent's bullet-resistant vest. The officer was briefly treated and survived the attack.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Indigenous activists say a pipeline that gained President Trump's permission to cross the U.S. Canada border sounds a lot like the Keystone XL pipeline. The Biden administration effectively ended that project soon after taking office. Carla DeRosch from Keystone Public Radio has more. The Bridger Pipeline would start in Phillips County in north-centro, Montana, and carry Alberta oil sands down through eastern Montana. Fort Pecassiniboyne tribal member and Wolf Point City Councilman, Lance Fourstar, says he fought for years against the Keystone XL pipeline.
Starting point is 00:04:02 This was all kind of new to me. I was hoping that it wasn't real and that this was just a rumor. Indigenous activists and environmental groups have been rallying around the public comment period for the Bridger Pipeline's environmental analysis. A spokesperson with developer, Bridger Pipeline, says construction is slated to begin next fall. The pipeline still needs several permits to go ahead. For NPR News, I'm Kayla Deroche in Billings. Three people have died after a suspected outbreak of a rare hunter virus on a cruise ship in the Atlantic.
