European leaders are calling for new sanctions on Russia within days if the Kremlin fails to agree to peace talks and a 30-day ceasefire. Starting point is 00:02:31 putting a spotlight on the most common cancer diagnosed in men. NPR's Yuki Noguchi reports that treatment and survival rates for prostate cancer have changed dramatically. The 82-year-old former president is one of about 300,000 men who are or will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year. It kills about 35,000 people a year. But the mortality rate from the disease is half what it was in the 1990s, largely thanks to better earlier detection and more targeted treatments that improve survivorship. It's generally a slow growing cancer that, if caught early, can be monitored or treated
Starting point is 00:03:10 relatively easily. President Biden has an unusually aggressive form of the disease that spread to his bones before it was caught. Yukie Noguchi, NPR News. This is NPR. The Trump administration has repatriated 64 Colombian and Honduran migrants who agreed to self-deport. The group was equipped with a $1,000 stipend and given a charter flight out of the U.S. with an offer to apply for legal entry sometime in the future. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has warned people who enter the U.S.
Starting point is 00:03:46 illegally that those who refuse to self-deport will be arrested, fined, and deported with no opportunity to return. The U.S. Supreme Court has granted the Justice Department's request to end special legal protections for Venezuelan migrants. The justices have approved DOJ's request to end a lower court order that blocked plans to lift temporary protective status or TPS for Venezuelan migrants. Sesame Street is headed to Netflix. As NPR's Elizabeth Blair reports, the iconic kid's show was without a distributor after it was dropped by Max last year. Netflix says it will begin streaming the 56th season of Sesame Street later this year. Under its previous distribution deal, PBS had to wait months before airing new episodes after they first ran on Max. Now, PBS Stations and the PBS Kids platform will run new episodes
Starting point is 00:04:43 on the same day and date as they stream on Netflix. As an educational show steeped in research, Sesame Street is expensive to produce.
