Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Jack Spear. The Minnesota man accused of
killing a state lawmaker and her husband and wounding another state lawmaker and
his wife while posing as a police officer is in custody facing state and
federal charges. It appears the suspect, 57 year old Vance Belter, went to two
other lawmakers homes where they either were not home or he left after police
arrived. DuWanda Witt is with the Hampton County Sheriff's Office. Vance Bolter inflicted unimaginable harm
to our community Saturday morning and he did it while impersonating the very people who are
trusted to protect and serve. These violent acts strike at the heart of our democracy
and the safety of those who serve the public with dedication and courage. Melder faces four state charges, including second degree and attempted second degree murder charges.
He will face six federal charges, including two counts of murder with a firearm.
He surrendered to police as they closed in on him Sunday.
President Trump is in Alberta for the G7 meeting, but his first meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney,
Dan Karpanchuk reports Trump says a trade deal with Canada is achievable.
The two leaders were holding a bilateral meeting before the start of the G7
summit. Speaking to the media before their private talks, Trump said his
primary focus will be trade and trade with Canada. And referring to Mark Carney
on a first-name basis several times, Trump says his approach is about tariffs
but adds that he's sure something can be worked out. I think Mark has a more complex idea, but also very good.
So we're going to look at both and we're going to see what—we're going to come out with
something, hopefully.
Mr. President.
Trump was critical that Russia was not at the summit, which he says should have been
the G8.

Eli Lilly says it will soon offer all FDA-approved doses doses of obesity drug online to patients paying out of pocket. The company first started
selling discounted vials of ZepBound on its website last summer. More from NPR's
Cindy Lupkin. Vials of the highest doses of Eli Lilly's ZepBound 12.5 and 15
milligrams will soon be available to patients through the company's website.
Providers can begin to prescribe them in July and they start shipping in August.
Discounted ZepBound vials are only available to patients not using their health insurance.
All single dose vials will be available for about $500 or less for a month supply to patients
who renew their prescriptions within 45 days.
Otherwise they are more expensive.
Eli Lilly's announcement comes weeks after many insurance plans dropped ZipBound from
coverage in favor of its competitor, Novo Nordisk's Wigovie.

New research examines the benefits of music therapy for cancer patients.
Researchers say the combination of talk and musical expression is as effective as cognitive
behavioral therapy.
Here's NPR's Yukine Gucchi.
Cynthia cherished Malloran's worries outlasted the breast cancer she survived at age 39.
So she signed up for a study and underwent music therapy. She talked to, hummed along with, or co-wrote songs about her troubles with her therapist.
I feel good to be with you.
Picture yourself feeling unwell and someone is serenading you.
Just you.
And how much better you feel because you're being seen and cared for that way.
The research presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology
found that benefits of music therapy lasted at least four months for two-thirds of patients.

the Danish Armed Forces.
They'll spend the next three months patrolling Danish and NATO waters in the Baltic and the
North Seas.

Patrols of the 33-foot vessels come as tensions and sabotage have escalated following Russia's
2022 invasion of Ukraine. Despite continued tensions between Israel and Iran, oil prices
fell today, oiled down 1.7 percent to $71.77 a barrel. I'm Jack Spear, NPR News in Washington.
