The ceasefire between Israel and Iran appears to be holding as NATO leaders wrap up their
summit in the Netherlands.
At a press conference today, President Trump maintained U.S. bombings of three nuclear
sites in Iran set back Iran's enrichment program decades.
This contradicts the finding of an early U.S. intelligence assessment Trump is citing in
Israeli review of the damage.
The Atomic Energy Commission of Israel,
and I just wondered, this is an official letter,
and they're very serious people, as you know.
The devastating U.S. strike on Fordow
destroyed the site's critical infrastructure
and rendered the enrichment facility totally
inoperable. It was devastated. Trump says he and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had a good
meeting at the summit. Democratic socialist Zoran Mamdani is poised to become the Democratic Party's
nominee for mayor of New York City. NPR's Stephen Fowler has more on what the primary outcome does and doesn't mean for the National Party.
At a time when the Democratic brand is facing deep unpopularity with voters, Mamdani's success is notable.
Tom Jensen of Democratic-aligned firm Public Policy Polling said a big part of that came from increased turnout and support from voters under 45.
What we really just found the key was, was he was engaging young people in a level
that's extremely unusual for something like
a primary election for mayor.
After losing the White House,
the Senate and failing to retake the House,
the Democrats are searching for good signs
anywhere they can.

The chairman of a vaccine advisory committee
for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
says it will re-examine the number of vaccines kids get.
As NPR's Ping Huang reports, the move represents a possible significant shift in vaccine policy.
The CDC's Influential Vaccine Advisory Committee met today with all new members and a new tone
was immediately evident.
Martin Kuhldorf, a biostatistician and the chair of the group, says they're considering
major changes to the vaccine schedule for kids.
The number of vaccines that our children and adolescents receive today exceeds what children
in most other developed nations receive.
The committee's recommendations are critical in guiding state and local vaccine policies,
along with what insurers cover.
Two weeks ago, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. purged the committee and replaced it with new members.
Some of them have expressed skepticism about vaccines.

Zena Manor leader Chuck Schumer
was taken to the hospital for dehydration today.
A spokesperson says he was released
and is back at work at the Capitol.
The high temperature in Washington today is 98 degrees.
Extreme heat warnings and advisories are in effect across the mid-Atlantic, Central U.S.
and the South, weather forecasters say it'll last a bit longer.

Three new albums stormed the Billboard Top 10, but the album at the top of the charts
remains immovable.
NPR's Stephen Thompson has more.
Fresh faces abound on this week's charts.
The K-pop group Ateez debuts at number two with Golden Hour, part three.
The rapper Lil Tecca follows closely behind with Dopamine,
The rapper Lil Tecca follows closely behind with Dopamine, and the contemporary Christian singer Brandon Lake hits the top ten for the first time in
his career with King of Hearts.
Still none of them could knock off this summer's chart king.
Morgan Wallins' I'm the Problem holds at number one for a fifth straight week.

A researcher in Switzerland says his team is finding a new occurrence in the country's
glaciers, holes emerging from inside of them, sort of like Swiss cheese.
The scientist believes the holes are caused by turbulence from water passing through the
bottom of the glaciers or from airflow through the holes.
Switzerland's glaciers are melting from the planet warming.
A SpaceX capsule is on its way to the International Space Station.
It launched from Florida early today.
A private crew of four astronauts from the U.S., India, Poland, and Hungary
are all on board and will conduct experiments on the International Space Station.
